Abstract
In the current study, the catalyst for the decolorization of methyl orange (MO) was developed HAp-rGO by the aqueous precipitation approach. Then, bismuth(0) nanoparticles (Bi NPs), which expect to show high activity, were reduced on the surface of the support material (HAp-rGO). The obtained catalyst was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. The parameters that remarkably affect the decolorization process (such as time, initial dye concentration, NaBH4 amount, and catalyst amount) have been examined by response surface methodology (RSM), an optimization method that has acquired increasing significance in recent years. In the decolorization of MO, the optimum conditions were identified as 2.91 min, Co: 18.85 mg/L, NaBH4 amount: 18.35 mM, and Bi/HAp-rGO dosage: 2.12 mg/mL with MO decolorization efficiency of 99.60%. The decolorization process of MO with Bi/HAp-rGO was examined in detail kinetically and thermodynamically. Additionally, the possible decolorization mechanism was clarified. The present work provides a new insight into the use of the optimization process for both the effective usage of Bi/HAp-rGO and the catalytic reduction of dyes.

Abstract
Water pollution caused by dyes is a pressing environmental challenge due to their persistence and difficulty in degradation. Herein, an anionic adsorbent (HS-PAANa) was synthesized by grafting polyacrylic acid (PAA) onto the agricultural waste-hemp stem (HS). The obtained HS-PAANa adsorbent exhibited rapid adsorption kinetics, high adsorption capacity, and a favorable preference for cationic dyes, such as methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV). The experimental data fit well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm, demonstrating the efficiency of HS-PAANa in dye removal. Notably, the optimal adsorption capacities of HS-PAANa for MB and CV were found to be 1296.65 mg/g and 1451.43 mg/g, respectively. In the cationic/anionic dyes (MB/MO) binary systems, HS-PAANa exhibited enhanced selective adsorption of cationic dyes (MB), indicating its potential for targeted removal of specific dyes from mixed solutions. Moreover, HS-PAANa adsorption shows an excellent recyclability, after five cycles, HS-PAANa still maintained MB and CV removal rates of 93.85% and 95.08%, respectively. Therefore, the bioadsorbent HS-PAANa exhibits high potential as a highly efficient adsorbent for the effective treatment of cationic pollutants in wastewater.

Abstract
In this study, we fabricated magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles conjugated with anionic hydroxypropyl starch-graft-acrylic acid (Fe3O4@AHSG) for the efficient removal of methylene blue (MB) dye from aqueous solutions. The synthesized nanoconjugates were characterized using various techniques. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis revealed that the particles exhibited homogeneously distributed nanosized spherical shapes with a mean diameter of 41.72 ± 6.81 nm. The EDX analysis confirmed the absence of impurities, with the Fe3O4 particles comprising 64.76 % iron and 35.24 % atomic oxygen. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements showed a monodisperse particle system with a mean hydrodynamic size of 135.4 nm (polydispersity index, PI = 0.530) for the Fe3O4 nanoparticles and 163.6 nm (PI = 0.498) for the Fe3O4@AHSG adsorbent. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis indicated superparamagnetic behavior for both Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@AHSG, with higher saturation magnetization (Ms) observed for Fe3O4. The dye adsorption studies demonstrated that the adsorbed dye capacity increased with increasing initial MB concentration and adsorbent dose. The pH of the dye solution significantly influenced the adsorption, with the highest adsorption observed at basic pH values. The presence of NaCl reduced the adsorption capacity due to increased ionic strength. Thermodynamic analysis indicated the thermodynamically favorable and spontaneous nature of the adsorption process. Kinetic studies revealed that the pseudo-second-order model provided the best fit to the experimental data, suggesting chemisorption as the rate-limiting step. Overall, Fe3O4@AHSG nanoconjugates exhibited excellent adsorption capacity and could be a promising material for effective removal of MB dye from wastewater.

Abstract
Synthetic organic pigments like xanthene and azo dyes from the direct discharge of textile effluents are considered colossal global issues and attract the concern of scholars. Photocatalysis continues to be a very valuable pollution control method for industrial wastewater. Incorporations of metal oxide catalysts such as zinc oxide (ZnO) on mesoporous Santa Barbara Armophous-15 (SBA-15) support to improve catalyst thermo-mechanical stability have been comprehensively reported. However, charge separation efficiency and light absorption of ZnO/SBA-15 continue to be limiting its photocatalytic activity. Herein, we report a successful preparation of Ruthenium-induced ZnO/SBA-15 composite via conventional incipient wetness impregnation technique with the aim of boosting the photocatalytic activity of the incorporated ZnO. Physicochemical properties of the SBA-15 support, ZnO/SBA-15, and Ru-ZnO/SBA-15 composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 physisorption isotherms at 77 K, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The characterization outcomes exhibited that ZnO and ruthenium species have been successfully embedded into SBA-15 support, andtheSBA-15 support maintains its structured hexagonal mesoscopic ordering in both ZnO/SBA-15 and Ru-ZnO/SBA-15 composites. The photocatalytic activity of the composite was assessed through photo-assisted mineralization of aqueous MB solution, and the process was optimized for initial dye concentration and catalyst dosage. 50 mg catalyst exhibited significant degradation efficiency of 97.96% after 120 min, surpassing the efficiencies of 77% and 81% displayed by 10 and 30 mg of the as-synthesized catalyst. The photodegradation rate was found to decrease with an increase in the initial dye concentration. The superior photocatalytic activity of Ru-ZnO/SBA-15 over the binary ZnO/SBA-15 may be attributed to the slower recombination rate of photogenerated charges on the ZnO surface with the addition of ruthenium.

Abstract
Electro-oxidation is a promising technology for wastewater treatment with biorefractory organic and nitrogen pollutants; however, the high energy demand hinders its wide application. In this study, a novel method by regulating significant parameter during the electro-oxidation process in a timely manner for real dyeing wastewater treatment with energy savings was studied. Operating factors (i.e., flow rate, initial pH value, electrode distance, and current density) were investigated for chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia removal, and the results indicated that current density was the key factor that obviously influenced the electrochemical performance. Indirect oxidation by active chlorine was then confirmed as the main reaction pathway for pollutant oxidation, and the relationship between the current density and the generation of active chlorine was established, suggesting that a large part of the generated active chlorine was not utilized effectively. Subsequently, a novel method of varying the current density in a timely manner based on the reaction mechanism was proposed; the results indicated that, with similar pollutant removal efficiencies, energy consumption could be reduced from 31.6 to 20.5 kWh/m3. Additionally, the novel system was further optimized by Box-Behnken design: The COD removal efficiency could reach 71.8%, and the energy demand could be reduced by 45.6%.

Abstract
In this study, cottonwood seeds (CWS) were introduced as a novel, green, and low-cost biosorbents for the removal of crystal violet (CV) dye from aqueous solutions. To illustrate the characteristics of CWS, surface morphology, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopes, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy techniques were employed. Important adsorption variables (i.e., equilibrium time, solution pH, CWS amount, CV concentration, and temperature) were systematically studied. Maximum CV dye adsorption was observed at pH 10 using 20 mg of the adsorbent. Different adsorption isotherms were investigated, and the results were more accurately consistent with the Langmuir model (R2 = 0.992). The maximum capacity of adsorption was 153.85 mg g-1 at 60 min. The kinetic data were examined by different models and a pseudo-second-order model supplied the best correlation between experimental data. Investigated thermodynamic parameters at different temperatures illustrated that the CV adsorption procedure was spontaneous and endothermic with an increase in entropy. The percentage removal and the relative standard deviations for the real sample analysis were in the range of 89-98% and 4.9-9.5%, respectively. High adsorption capacity and low equilibrium time demonstrated that CWS is an impressive biosorbent for dye pollutants uptakes from aqueous solutions and real industrial wastewater samples.

Abstract
A nanofiber metal–organic framework filter, a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber membrane composite with an iron/2-amino-terephthalic acid-based metal–organic framework (MIL101(Fe)-NH2), was prepared by one-step electrospinning. MIL101(Fe)-NH2 was combined into the polymer nanofibers in situ. PAN-MIL101(Fe)-NH2 composite nanofiber membranes (NFMs) were prepared from a homogeneous spinning stock containing MIL101(Fe)-NH2 prebody fluid and PAN. Crystallization of MIL101(Fe)-NH2 and solidification of the polymer occurred simultaneously during electrospinning. The PAN-MIL101(Fe)-NH2 composite NFM showed that MIL101(Fe)-NH2 was uniformly distributed throughout the nanofiber and was used to adsorb and separate acidic organic ionic dyes from the aqueous solution. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that MIL101(Fe)-NH2 crystals were effectively bonded in the PAN nanofiber matrix, and the crystallinity of MIL101(Fe)-NH2 crystals remained good, while the distribution was uniform. Owing to the synergistic effect of PAN and the MIL101(Fe)-NH2 crystal, the PAN-MIL101(Fe)-NH2 composite NFM showed a fast adsorption rate for acidic ionic dyes. This study provides a reference for the rapid separation and purification of organic ionic dyes from wastewater.

Abstract
The textile industry is one of the most valuable industries, especially in developing countries, because it employs a large portion of the workforce. However, the development of the textile industry has led to increasing concern about environmental issues. Wastewater from the textile industry has a high COD and an undesirable color. Color is one of the problems with the wastewater due to its toxicity and low biodegradability. Color in textile wastewater mainly originates from the dyestuff used during the dyeing or printing process. Amongst all of available technology for color removal, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are considered one of the best and the most potential technology. However, the understanding of AOPs reaction mechanism to degrade dyestuff is still limited. In general, dyes degradation mechanism will vary and mainly depend on the chemical structure of the dyes itself. Some reaction pathway that seems less favorable thermodynamically can still happen during the process. Understanding the mechanism will be beneficial for future dyes improvement, especially on developing the moiety of the aromatic compound in order to produce easily degraded dyes while maintaining the fastness quality.
