Abstract
Although several observational studies have reported a link between the use of underarm cosmetic products and the risk of breast cancer, the findings remain inconsistent. This study aimed to investigate these associations using a meta-analysis of observational studies. In the meta-analysis of seven case-control studies, we found no association between the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the risk of breast cancer (OR = 0.96, 95%CI 0.78-1.17; I2 = 60.0%). Further prospective cohort studies that provide a higher level of evidence are warranted to confirm our findings.

Abstract
The Breast Cancer UK-Breast Cancer Prevention Conference addressed risk from environmental pollutants and health behaviour-related breast-cancer risk. Epidemiological studies examining individual chemicals and breast cancer risk have produced inconclusive results including endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) Bisphenol A, per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances as well as aluminium. However, laboratory studies have shown that multiple EDCs, can work together to exhibit effects, even when combined at levels that alone are ineffective. The TEXB-α/β assay measures total estrogenic load, and studies have provided evidence of a link between multiple-chemical exposures and breast cancer. However, prospective studies using TEXB-α/β are needed to establish a causative link. There is also a need to assess real-life exposure to environmental-chemical mixtures during pregnancy, and their potential involvement in programming adverse foetal health outcomes in later life. Higher rates of breast cancer have occurred alongside increases in potentially-modifiable risk factors such as obesity. Increasing body-mass index is associated with increased risk of developing postmenopausal breast cancer, but with decreased risk of premenopausal breast cancer. In contrast, lower rates of breast cancer in Asian compared to Western populations have been linked to soya/isoflavone consumption. Risk is decreased by breastfeeding, which is in addition to the decrease in risk observed for each birth and a young first-birth. Risk is lower in those with higher levels of self-reported physical activity. Current evidence suggests breast-cancer survivors should also avoid weight gain, be physically active, and eat a healthy diet for overall health. A broad scientific perspective on breast cancer risk requires focus on both environmental exposure to chemicals and health behaviour-related risk. Research into chemical exposure needs to focus on chemical mixtures and prospective epidemiological studies in order to test the effects on breast cancer risk. Behaviour-related research needs to focus on implementation as well as deeper understanding of the mechanisms of cancer prevention.

Abstract
Aluminum (Al) is used in everyday life and present in food drugs, packaging, industry, and agriculture. Although it is the most common metal in the Earth crust, a correlation has been demonstrated between its presence and various pathologies, even serious ones, especially of a neurological type. However, there is a histological gap regarding the role Al can have in contact with the covering and secreting epithelia. The alterations of the ventral and dorsal foot mucocytes and their secretions of the snail Eobania vermiculata caused by Al were investigated in situ by histochemical and lectin-histochemical techniques. Administration to different experimental groups took place for 3 and 9 days with 50 and 200 μM of AlCl3. Several types of mucocytes were detected with a prevalent secretion of acid glycans in the foot of E. vermiculata. Sulfated glycans prevail in the dorsal region, with one type showing only fucosylated residues and another also having galactosaminylated and glycosaminylated residues. Carboxylated glycans prevail in the ventral region, with presence of galactosaminylated, glycosaminylated, and fucosylated residuals in both cells. Snails treated presented a general decrease of mucin amount in the secreting cells and affected the mucus composition. These changes could alter the rheological and functional properties of the mucus with possible implications for the health of the treated animals. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: Snails were fed with Al-contaminated lettuce at different concentrations. In the foot mucocytes produced mucus with prevailing acidic glycans. In the treated resulted a reduction in the amount of mucus and an alteration of glycan composition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Al exists naturally in the environment and is an important component in acidic soils, which harm almost all plants. Furthermore, Al is widely used in food additives, cosmetics, and medicines, resulting in living organisms ingesting traces of Al orally or dermally every day. Accordingly, Al accumulates in the body, which can cause negative bioeffects and diseases, and this concern is gaining increasing attention. Therefore, to detect and track Al in the environment and in living organisms, the development of novel Al-selective probes that are water-soluble and exhibit fluorescence at long wavelengths is necessary. RESULTS In this study, an Al3+-selective fluorescent probe PSP based on a novel pyrone molecule was synthesized and characterized to detect and track Al in biological systems. PSP exhibited fluorescence enhancement at 580 nm in the presence of Al3+ in aqueous media. Binding analysis using Job's plot and structural analysis using 1H NMR showed that PSP formed a 1:1 complex with Al3+ at the two carbonyl groups of the dimethyl malonate of the pyrone ring. Upon testing in biological systems, PSP showed good cell membrane permeability, detected intracellular Al3+ in human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231), and successfully imaged accumulated Al3+ in Microcystis aeruginosa and the larvae of Rheocricotopus species. SIGNIFICANCE The novel Al3+-selective fluorescent probe PSP is highly effective and is expected to aid in elucidating the role of Al3+ in the environment and living organisms.

Abstract
Poor bone growth remains a challenge for degradable bone implants. Montmorillonite and strontium were selected as the carrier and bone growth promoting elements to prepare strontium-doped montmorillonite coating on Mg-Ca alloy. The surface morphology and composition were characterized by SEM, EDS, XPS, FT-IR and XRD. The hydrogen evolution experiment and electrochemical test results showed that the Mg-Ca alloy coated with Sr-MMT coating possessed optimal corrosion resistance performance. Furthermore, in vitro studies on cell activity, ALP activity, and cell morphology confirmed that Sr-MMT coating had satisfactory biocompatibility, which can significantly avail the proliferation, differentiation, and adhesion of osteoblasts. Moreover, the results of the 90-day implantation experiment in rats indicated that, the preparation of Sr-MMT coating effectively advanced the biocompatibility and bone repair performance of Mg-Ca alloy. In addition, The Osteogenic ability of Sr-MMT coating may be due to the combined effect of the precipitation of Si4+ and Sr2+ in Sr-MMT coating and the dissolution of Mg2+ and Ca2+ during the degradation of Mg-Ca alloy. By using coating technology, this study provides a late-model strategy for biodegradable Mg alloys with good corrosion resistance, biocompatibility. This new material will bring more possibilities in bone repair.

Abstract
Because of its chemical versatility and abundance in nature, aluminium is employed in a myriad of frequently used products - including cosmetics and food additives - and applications - drinking water purification procedures being an example. Despite what its widespread use might suggest, aluminium's harmlessness is a matter of debate in the scientific community. In this article we trace the lines of a growing questioning about the potential mutagenic effects of this metal, due to the data produced over the recent years, and with an eye to the discussions currently underway in this regard between the scientific community, industry, and regulatory bodies.

Abstract
Aluminium (Al) is the most ubiquitous metal in the Earth's crust. Even though its toxicity is well-documented, the role of Al in the pathogenesis of several neurological diseases remains debatable. To establish the basic framework for future studies, we review literature reports on Al toxicokinetics and its role in Alzheimer's disease (AD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), alcohol use disorder (AUD), multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease (PD), and dialysis encephalopathy (DE) from 1976 to 2022. Despite poor absorption via mucosa, the biggest amount of Al comes with food, drinking water, and inhalation. Vaccines introduce negligible amounts of Al, while the data on skin absorption (which might be linked with carcinogenesis) is limited and requires further investigation. In the above-mentioned diseases, the literature shows excessive Al accumulation in the central nervous system (AD, AUD, MS, PD, DE) and epidemiological links between greater Al exposition and their increased prevalence (AD, PD, DE). Moreover, the literature suggests that Al has the potential as a marker of disease (AD, PD) and beneficial results of Al chelator use (such as cognitive improvement in AD, AUD, MS, and DE cases).

Abstract
An efficient fluorescent cation chemosensor based on fluorescein L4 was well prepared and identified with spectroscopy analyses. UV-vis and fluorescence measurements examined the analyte complexation of the L4 with various cations, demonstrating a clear tendency to Al3+ ion. In the Job plot study, a stoichiometry ratio of a complex between L4 and Al3+ ion was determined to be 1: 2 (L4: Al3+). A stoichiometry ratio of complex between L4 and Al3+ ion was determined to be 1: 2 (L4: Al3+) using the Job plot. The association constant (Ka) of the L4-Al3+ complex was found 2.8 × 107 M-2. The obtained limit of detection (LOD) value (1.37 × 10-6 M for Al3+) exhibited the considerable sensitivity of the chemosensor L4 to Al3+ ion. DFT/TD-DFT calculations have also been employed to support the binding mode and photophysical properties of the complexation of chemosensor L4 to Al3+ ion and also to investigate the enhancement of L4 fluorescence by Al3+ ion.

Abstract
Endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDC) play an important role in the increased incidence of breast cancer (BC). There are some 160 xenoestrogens that may be involved in the development of BC. Much less is known about the influence of xenoestrogens on the effectiveness of the treatment of BC. The aim of this study was to analyze the interaction of metalloestrogens (aluminum and chromium (III)) and drugs used in the treatment of hormone-dependent BC-aromatase inhibitors (AI)-letrozole and exemestane. A cell viability assay, a flow cytometer analysis of apoptosis and cell cycle phases, and protein activity of BAX and Bcl-2 were performed on two human breast cancer cell lines-MCF-7 and MCF-7/DOX. In MCF-7 cells, the lower concentration of exemestane and higher of letrozole, in combination with metalloestrogens, results in a decrease in the effectiveness of drugs. Additionally, in the MCF-7/DOX cell line, we observed that the combination of metalloestrogens and AI leads to a decrease in the drug's effectiveness due to an increase in the viability of breast cancer cells (both concentrations of letrozole and higher concentration of exemestane). In both cell lines, the reduction in the effectiveness of AI, in combination with metalloestrogens, is not related to the influence on the cell cycle. Our results confirm that exposure to metalloestrogens may negatively affect the effectiveness of hormone therapy with AI. Further studies are needed to fully explain the mechanism of these interactions.

Abstract
Aluminum (Al) is a widespread metal in the environment, and is found in fresh or processed foods, household utensils, packaging, and medicines. In addition to its high toxicity, Al can also have estrogenic agonistic effects on target organs. Considering that the Al effects on the prostate are little known, the aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of aluminum chloride (AlCl3 ) subacute exposure on the morphophysiology of the male ventral prostate and the female prostate of adult gerbils. Furthermore, the glandular restoration capacity in face of the Al insults was evaluated in gerbils that were submitted to 30 days of recovery. Male and female gerbils were orally exposed to AlCl3 (10 mg/kg) for 30 consecutive days. The animals were euthanized 1 day (Al1D) or 30 days (Al30D) after the end of treatment. Prostates were dissected out and processed for structural, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical analyses. Male ventral prostates and female prostates of the Al1D group showed increased cell proliferation, glandular hyperplasia, increased secretory activity and greater androgen receptor immunoreactivity. In males, Al withdrawal (Al30D) allowed a partial recovery of the prostate, as the glandular secretory activity, and frequency of androgen receptor positive cells were similar to the control group. In females, the recuperation interval (Al30D) was not enough to restore the prostatic morphology, since the gland remained hyperplastic, proliferative, and with greater androgen and estrogen receptor immunoreactivity. These data alert to the importance of avoiding Al exposure, since this metal can have a harmful and prolonged action on the prostate.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-associated amongst women worldwide. Several studies have shown that individual, environmental and occupational factors can serve an important role in the onset of breast cancer; although the majority of studies have demonstrated this association, and several studies have investigated the biological pathways, it is impossible to describe with certainty the causal relationship that involve circadian rhythm disruption and melatonin dysregulation with the oncogenic processes. Over the years, due to the introduction of more effective screening tools, an increase in the incidence of breast cancer as well as a decrease in the age at diagnosis has been witnessed. Subsequently, an increasing number of individuals have obtained care at a younger age, which has meant that after surgery and chemotherapy, these workers have had to return to work. In light of these paradigmatic changes, the aim of the present review was to identify potential targets for future organisational strategies that should be adopted in the workplace by occupational physicians, both for prevention and for the return-to-work process of working women who have suffered from breast cancer.

Abstract
Chromosome instability (CIN) consists of high rates of structural and numerical chromosome abnormalities and is a well-known hallmark of cancer. Aluminum is added to many industrial products of frequent use. Yet, it has no known physiological role and is a suspected human carcinogen. Here, we show that V79 cells, a well-established model for the evaluation of candidate chemical carcinogens in regulatory toxicology, when cultured in presence of aluminum—in the form of aluminum chloride (AlCl3) and at concentrations in the range of those measured in human tissues—incorporate the metal in a dose-dependent manner, predominantly accumulating it in the perinuclear region. Intracellular aluminum accumulation rapidly leads to a dose-dependent increase in DNA double strand breaks (DSB), in chromosome numerical abnormalities (aneuploidy) and to proliferation arrest in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. During mitosis, V79 cells exposed to aluminum assemble abnormal multipolar mitotic spindles and appear to cluster supernumerary centrosomes, possibly explaining why they accumulate chromosome segregation errors and damage. We postulate that chronic aluminum absorption favors CIN in mammalian cells, thus promoting carcinogenesis.

Abstract
Usage of inorganic ingredients like aluminium salts in cosmetics and personal care products has been a concern for producers and consumers. Although aluminium is used to treat hyperhidrosis, some worries have been raised about aluminium's role in breast cancer, breast cyst and Alzheimer's disease. The human population is exposed to aluminium from vaccines, diet, and drinking water, but the frequent use of aluminium-based cosmetics might add additional local exposure. This paper reviews literature to determine if aluminium-based products may pose potential harm to the body. The dermal absorption of aluminium is not widely understood. It is not yet known whether aluminium can travel from the skin to brain to cause Alzheimer's disease. Aluminium may cause gene instability, alter gene expression or enhance oxidative stress, but the carcinogenicity of aluminium has not been proved yet. Until now, epidemiological researches were based on oral information, which lacks consistency, and the results are conflicting. Future studies should target real-life-based long-time exposure to antiperspirants and other aluminium-containing cosmetics and personal care products.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Effective topical treatment options for patients with primary axillary hyperhidrosis (PAHH) are limited. A phase I trial showed promising results regarding the efficacy and safety of a topical cream containing glycopyrronium bromide (GPB). OBJECTIVES To assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of a 4-week topical treatment of GPB 1% cream in patients with PAHH vs. placebo. METHODS In total, 171 patients (84 receiving placebo; 87 receiving GPB 1%) with PAHH were included in the 4-week, multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase IIIa part of the pivotal study. Sweat production was measured by gravimetry. Patients rated the impact of disease with the Hyperhidrosis Disease Severity Scale (HDSS) and Hyperhidrosis Quality of Life Index (HidroQoL© ). RESULTS Absolute change in sweat production from baseline to day 29 in logarithmic values was significantly larger in the GPB 1% group compared with the placebo group (P = 0·004). The improvement in HidroQoL exceeded the minimal clinically important difference of 4. The proportion of responders was twofold higher for sweat reduction (-197·08 mg GPB 1% vs. -83·49 mg placebo), HDSS (23% GPB 1% vs. 12% placebo) and HidroQoL (60% GPB 1% vs. 26% placebo). Treatment was safe: most treatment-emergent adverse effects were mild or moderate, and transient. Local tolerability was very good, with 9% of patients having only mild or moderate application-site reactions. The most reported adverse drug reaction was dry mouth (16%), an expected anticholinergic effect of the treatment. CONCLUSIONS GPB 1% cream may provide an effective new treatment option exhibiting a good safety profile for patients with PAHH. The long-term open-label part (phase IIIb) is ongoing.

Abstract
Many hundreds of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have been measured as entering human breast tissue from a range of environmental sources, and this review focuses on discussion of mechanisms by which such EDCs may be contributing to the globally rising incidence of breast cancer. Many of the distinguishing features of breast cancer may be accounted for by EDC exposure, including, but not limited to, the fact that many EDCs possess estrogenic activity and exposure to estrogen is a main risk factor for breast cancer. Studies of the actions of EDCs in human breast cancer cells are aided by use of the conceptual framework of the hallmarks of cancer, and, acting by a variety of genomic and nongenomic mechanisms, EDCs have now been shown to enable all the hallmarks of cancer to develop in human breast cancer cells. Many studies report that hallmarks can develop at concentrations which are within the range of those measured in human breast tissues, especially when added as mixtures. The varied levels of different EDCs measured in individual breast tissue samples together with the overlapping and complementary mechanisms of action of the EDCs imply that thematic mechanisms will be driven inevitably by different chemical mixtures. Despite the complexity, EDCs do need to now be acknowledged as a risk factor for breast cancer in order for preventative strategies to include reduction in EDC exposure.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of daily sublethal doses of aluminum (Al) on hematological, physiological, biochemical, and behavioral changes in male albino Wistar rats. In addition, Al tissue accumulation and histopathological changes in the cerebral cortex, liver, and kidney were examined. The rats were randomly separated into three groups. Group 1 included rats who received the median deadly dose (LD50) of aluminum chloride (AlCl3), group 2 served as the control, and group 3 was treated with a non-lethal dose of AlCl3 (1.5 mg/kg) intraperitoneally for 45 days. At defined time intervals, hepatic and renal specific enzymes and biochemical activity were measured. In addition, we examined Al accumulation, the condition of the liver via histological methods, and the impact on the cerebral cortex. In comparison to the controls, rats treated with AlCl3 exhibited a rise in AST, ALT, and ALP enzyme activity. We also saw a significant decrease in body weight and a decrease in total protein, lipids, cholesterol, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), RBCs, and Hb levels compared to the control group. Histopathological examination suggested severe changes in the liver, kidney, and cerebral cortex of the rats. The current study indicates that sublethal daily exposure to AlCl3 causes hazardous effects, as increased Al concentration in the body is shown to induce detrimental biochemical and histological changes as well as decreased body weight. Therefore, careful attention should be given to treatments requiring long exposure in patients and the potential for accumulation via food and drinking.

Abstract
Excessive sweating and body odors in many cultures can cause negative perceptions of an individual and in many cases is related to poor hygiene. Personal hygiene products have been developed with the intention of preventing these undesirable issues. The aim of this paper is to review the main active ingredients used in marketed deodorant and antiperspirant formulations as well as to identify new strategies and future methods to optimize such products and prevent malodor. PubMed and ScienceDirect databases were used to search for studies reporting the use of deodorants and antiperspirants, the compounds used in the formulations, their mechanisms of action and associated controversies, as well as new trends and approaches in the area. Even today, we are still using well-known and established actives such as triclosan and aluminum salts, and these are still the most used compounds in deodorants with bactericidal and antiperspirant properties. These substances have been on the market for more than 40 years, and still there are many questions concerning the safety of both actives. There is a general increased interest globally for lifestyles that focus on sustainability and more natural products such as plant sources and the use of, for example, essential oils. The research that focuses in the area of antiperspirants and deodorants is now more focused on studies of the armpit biochemistry and function and control of the microbiota present in this area. Other possible areas of interest are biotechnological solutions and finding new compounds that will interfere with the biochemistry of the process of sweat decomposition. Further approaches include formulations with probiotics which would maintain the balance of axillary microbiota.

Abstract
Several studies highlight the presence of aluminum and diclofenac in water bodies around the world and their ability to induce oxidative stress and a negative effect on biomolecules in several aquatic species. However, studies evaluating the toxic effect of mixtures of these contaminants are scarce. The objective of this work was to determine the genotoxic, cytotoxic and embryotoxic effect of the mixture of aluminum and diclofenac at environmentally relevant concentrations on Cyprinus carpio. Juveniles of Cyprinus carpio were exposed to 0.31 μg L-1 of diclofenac, 24.45 mg L-1 of aluminum, and a mixture of both contaminants at the same concentrations for 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. After the exposure time the liver, gills and blood were extracted and the following biomarkers were evaluated: micronucleus frequency, comet assay, caspase activity and TUNEL test. On the other hand, Cyprinus carpio embryos were exposed to diclofenac (0.31 μg L-1), aluminum (0.06 mg L-1) and their mixture at the same concentrations and exposure time. Microscopic observation was performed to evaluate embryonic development at 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. Diclofenac (0.31 μg L-1) induces significant increases in micronucleus frequency with respect to control (p < 0.05), in all tissues. Aluminum (24.45 mg L-1) significantly increases DNA damage index in liver and blood cells with respect to control (p < 0.05). All treatments increase caspases activity in all tissues with respect to control (p < 0.05). Diclofenac increases the percentage of TUNEL-positive cells in liver and blood; while aluminum and the mixture increases it significantly in gills and blood with respect to the control (p < 0.05). The mixture significantly delays embryonic development, while aluminum and the mixture significantly increase teratogenic index with respect to control (p < 0.05). In conclusion, exposure to environmental concentrations of aluminium, diclofenac and their mixture induces genotoxic damage, cell death by apoptosis and negative effects on the development of Cyprinus carpio and the toxic response is modified by the interaction of the xenobiotics.

Abstract
Genomic instability is generally considered as a hallmark of tumorigenesis and a prerequisite condition for malignant transformation. Aluminium salts are suspected environmental carcinogens that transform mammary epithelial cells in vitro through unknown mechanisms. We report here that long-term culture in the presence of aluminium chloride (AlCl3) enables HC11 normal mouse mammary epithelial cells to form tumours and metastases when injected into the syngeneic and immunocompetent BALB/cByJ strain. We demonstrate that AlCl3 rapidly increases chromosomal structural abnormalities in mammary epithelial cells, while we failed to detect direct modulation of specific mRNA pathways. Our observations provide evidence that clastogenic activity—a well-recognized inducer of genomic instability—might account in part for the transforming abilities of aluminium in mammary epithelial cells.

Abstract
Hyperhidrosis is defined as uncontrollable, excessive and unpredictable sweating that exceeds the needs related to thermoregulation. It preferentially affects axillary, palms, soles and face but can affect any part of the body. This ostensibly benign symptom can have a major negative impact on quality of life sometimes leading to isolation and depression. Moreover, in some cases hyperhidrosis can be secondary to an underlying pathology sometimes malignant which must be identified quickly. Consequently, each doctor should be able to develop a diagnostic and therapeutic approach for this relatively frequent and probably underdiagnosed and undertreated reason for consultation. In this review, we focus on diagnosis hyperhidrosis and its management.

Abstract
BACKGROUNG Exposure to environmental pollutants in critical developmental windows may predispose the prostate to permanent changes in its homeostasis. Thus, it is essential to know the effects that environmental toxics, such as aluminum, can cause during the development of this gland. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of neonatal aluminum exposure on the ventral male prostate and the female prostate of 15 days old gerbils. METHODS Male and female gerbils were exposed orally to 10 mg/kg/day of aluminum chloride from the 1st to the 14th postnatal day life. At 15 days of life, gerbils were euthanized and their prostates were collected for biometric, morphological, morphometric, immunohistochemical and three-dimensional reconstruction analyzes. RESULTS Al exposure caused a reduction in body weight in males and a significant increase in serum testosterone levels in females. Prostate branching morphogenesis was intensified in males, who had greater length, number and area of prostatic epithelial buds. Additionally, Al altered the prostate hormonal regulation of males and females, causing up regulation of the androgen receptor and estrogen receptor alpha in the female prostate, and increased immunostaining of the androgen receptor in the ventral male prostate. These changes were associated with an increased rate of epithelial and stromal cell proliferation in both sexes. CONCLUSION Together, these results indicate that Al altered the neonatal development of the prostate and that this metal acted as an endocrine disruptor in this gland.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Major and trace elements play an important role in human body, and it has been reported that ionomic distribution differ greatly in tumor patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy on the ionomic profile in human plasma as a potential biomarker for the therapeutic effects of cervical cancer. METHOD Thirty-seven patients with cervical cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy were included in this study, pretherapy and post-treatment blood samples were collected and concentrations of 24 ions were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). RESULTS The results showed that after cisplatin chemotherapy and radiotherapy, patients' plasma Pt level significantly increased, Na, Mg, P, K, Ca, Se, Cu, Zn, Se, Sr, Ba levels significantly decreased (P < 0.01), and Al, Cu ions were significantly correlated with the treatment effect (P < 0.05). In addition, the pattern of elemental correlations changed dramatically after the neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. CONCLUSION The results indicated that the plasma ionomic profile may serve as a quick and convenient tool to reflect the therapeutic effect of cisplatin-based chemoradiotherapy in cervical cancer patients, and supplement of certain essential elements may be of great importance for the maintenance of ion homeostasis in human body and for the reduction of adverse effect of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Abstract
Aluminium (Al) is frequently accessible to animal and human populations to the extent that intoxications may occur. Intake of Al is by inhalation of aerosols or particles, ingestion of food, water and medicaments, skin contact, vaccination, dialysis and infusions. Toxic actions of Al induce oxidative stress, immunologic alterations, genotoxicity, pro-inflammatory effect, peptide denaturation or transformation, enzymatic dysfunction, metabolic derangement, amyloidogenesis, membrane perturbation, iron dyshomeostasis, apoptosis, necrosis and dysplasia. The pathological conditions associated with Al toxicosis are desquamative interstitial pneumonia, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, granulomas, granulomatosis and fibrosis, toxic myocarditis, thrombosis and ischemic stroke, granulomatous enteritis, Crohn's disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, anemia, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, sclerosis, autism, macrophagic myofasciitis, osteomalacia, oligospermia and infertility, hepatorenal disease, breast cancer and cyst, pancreatitis, pancreatic necrosis and diabetes mellitus. The review provides a broad overview of Al toxicosis as a background for sustained investigations of the toxicology of Al compounds of public health importance.

Abstract
Parabens now being formally declared as the American Contact Dermatitis Society (non)allergen of the year, the allergologic concerns regarding parabens raised during the past century are no longer a significant issue. The more recent toxicological concerns regarding parabens are more imposing, stemming from the gravity of the noncutaneous adverse health effects for which they have been scrutinized for the past 20 years. These include endocrine activity, carcinogenesis, infertility, spermatogenesis, adipogenesis, perinatal exposure impact, and nonallergologic cutaneous, psychologic, and ecologic effects. To assert that parabens are safe for use as currently used in the cosmetics, food, and pharmaceutical industries, all toxicological end points must be addressed. We seek to achieve perspective through this exercise: perspective for the professional assessing systemic risk of parabens by all routes of exposure. The data reviewed in this article strive to provide a balanced perspective for the consumer hopefully to allay concerns regarding the safety of parabens and facilitate an informed decision-making process. Based on currently available scientific information, claims that parabens are involved in the genesis or propagation of these controversial and important health problems are premature. Haste to remove parabens from consumer products could result in their substitution with alternative, less proven, and potentially unsafe alternatives, especially given the compelling data supporting the lack of significant dermal toxicity of this important group of preservatives.

Abstract
Hyperhidrosis (HH) is a chronic disorder of excess sweat production that may have a significant adverse effect on quality of life. A variety of treatment modalities currently exist to manage HH. Initial treatment includes lifestyle and behavioral recommendations. Antiperspirants are regarded as the first-line therapy for primary focal HH and can provide significant benefit. Iontophoresis is the primary remedy for palmar and plantar HH. Botulinum toxin injections are administered at the dermal-subcutaneous junction and serve as a safe and effective treatment option for focal HH. Oral systemic agents are reserved for treatment-resistant cases or for generalized HH. Energy-delivering devices such as lasers, ultrasound technology, microwave thermolysis, and fractional microneedle radiofrequency may also be utilized to reduce focal sweating. Surgery may be considered when more conservative treatments have failed. Local surgical techniques, particularly for axillary HH, include excision, curettage, liposuction, or a combination of these techniques. Sympathectomy is the treatment of last resort when conservative treatments are unsuccessful or intolerable, and after accepting secondary compensatory HH as a potential complication. A review of treatment modalities for HH and a sequenced approach are presented.

Abstract
Over recent years, many environmental pollutant chemicals have been shown to possess the ability to interfere in the functioning of the endocrine system and have been termed endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). These compounds exist in air as volatile or semi-volatile compounds in the gas phase or attached to particulate matter. They include components of plastics (phthalates, bisphenol A), components of consumer goods (parabens, triclosan, alkylphenols, fragrance compounds, organobromine flame retardants, fluorosurfactants), industrial chemicals (polychlorinated biphenyls), products of combustion (polychlorinated dibenzodioxins/furans, polyaromatic hydrocarbons), pesticides, herbicides, and some metals. This review summarizes current knowledge concerning the sources of EDCs in air, measurements of levels of EDCs in air, and the potential for adverse effects of EDCs in air on human endocrine health.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hyperhidrosis affects 4.8% of the U.S. population and has been underestimated by physicians for long time despite considerable interference with quality of life. Many patients suffer from primary (idiopathic) hyperhidrosis which results from over-activity of sympathetic nerves and is restricted to specific body areas, mostly the axillae, palms, soles, or head. Secondary hyperhidrosis is caused by an underlying disease or the intake of medications and often involves large parts of the body. Numerous effective therapies with topical or systemic drugs and surgical options are available. Areas covered: Efficacy and safety data on aluminum salts, anticholinergic drugs for topical or systemic application, and on intradermal botulinum toxin injections used to treat hyperhidrosis are critically evaluated, including data from clinical trials with focus on possible side effects and long-term complications in dispute. Expert opinion: Hyperhidrosis often responds well to available therapies. Depending on the type of hyperhidrosis treatment should be topical/local or systemic. Most of the side effects are mild, transient and easily manageable. In case of systemic treatment with anticholinergics low dosing and up-titration of medication is necessary to avoid severe adverse effects. Concerns about the promotion of breast cancer and Alzheimer disease by topical aluminum salts are unsolved.

Abstract
In this research, one of the most promising scallop species, smooth scallop (Flexopecten glaber) was studied. According to our findings, smooth scallop has beneficial micro and macro minerals, fat and carbohydrate just before the spawning. While the ratios protein, ash and water decreased from autumn to summer, ratio of crude fat increased till reproduction season in late spring and decreased in summer (P<0.05). In digestive glands, aluminum, bromine, cadmium, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, manganese, nickel, and zinc were detected more compared to adductor muscles (P<0.05). However; boron, magnesium and potassium were found more in adductor muscles (P<0.05) and there were no significant statistically differences in cobalt and lead (P>0.05). Most of the elements in the both tissues except K and Mg increased till summer. On the other hand, two of the most toxic metals, cadmium and aluminum were mostly accumulated in the digestive gland of smooth scallop. It is recommended that; digestive gland of scallops should be removed before consuming in terms of food safety. Besides, scallops are convenient to be processed, because of easy removal muscle tissue from internal organs.

Abstract
Background Previous studies on breast cancer (BC), underarm cosmetic products (UCP) and aluminum salts have shown conflicting results. We conducted a 1:1 age-matched case-control study to investigate the risk for BC in relation to self-reported UCP application. Methods Self-reported history of UCP use was compared between 209 female BC patients (cases) and 209 healthy controls. Aluminum concentration in breast tissue was measured in 100 cases and 52 controls. Multivariable conditional logistic regression analysis was performed to estimate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), adjusting for established BC risk factors. Findings Use of UCP was significantly associated with risk of BC (p = 0.036). The risk for BC increased by an OR of 3.88 (95% CI 1.03–14.66) in women who reported using UCP's several times daily starting at an age earlier than 30 years. Aluminum in breast tissue was found in both cases and controls and was significantly associated to self-reported UCP use (p = 0.009). Median (interquartile) aluminum concentrations were significantly higher (p = 0.001) in cases than in controls (5.8, 2.3–12.9 versus 3.8, 2.5–5.8 nmol/g). Interpretation Frequent use of UCPs may lead to an accumulation of aluminum in breast tissue. More than daily use of UCPs at younger ages may increase the risk of BC. Frequent use of underarm cosmetic products may be related to incorporated aluminum concentration in breast tissue. Use of underarm cosmetic products several times a day at younger ages may increase the risk of breast cancer.
Previous studies regarding breast cancer (BC) risk and underarm cosmetic products (UCPs) with aluminum salts have shown conflicting results. Here we provide comprehensive information about the use of UCPs and aluminum measurements in breast cancer patients and healthy individuals. The findings suggest that the frequent use of UCPs lead to an accumulation of aluminum in breast tissue. We observed an increased risk for BC in women who reported to use UCPs more than once daily starting at an age < 30 years. We recommend that particularly women at younger ages should be careful using UCPs and avoid its excessive use.

Abstract
We are living in the 'aluminium age'. Human exposure to aluminium is inevitable and, perhaps, inestimable. Aluminium's free metal cation, Alaq(3+), is highly biologically reactive and biologically available aluminium is non-essential and essentially toxic. Biologically reactive aluminium is present throughout the human body and while, rarely, it can be acutely toxic, much less is understood about chronic aluminium intoxication. Herein the question is asked as to how to diagnose aluminium toxicity in an individual. While there are as yet, no unequivocal answers to this problem, there are procedures to follow to ascertain the nature of human exposure to aluminium. It is also important to recognise critical factors in exposure regimes and specifically that not all forms of aluminium are toxicologically equivalent and not all routes of exposure are equivalent in their delivery of aluminium to target sites. To ascertain if Alzheimer's disease is a symptom of chronic aluminium intoxication over decades or breast cancer is aggravated by the topical application of an aluminium salt or if autism could result from an immune cascade initiated by an aluminium adjuvant requires that each of these is considered independently and in the light of the most up to date scientific evidence. The aluminium age has taught us that there are no inevitabilities where chronic aluminium toxicity is concerned though there are clear possibilities and these require proving or discounting but not simply ignored.
