Abstract
OBJECTIVE We aim to assess the changes and associated factors in newborn anthropometry in the first month for full-term, healthy, and exclusive-breastfed infants. METHODS Neonatal anthropometric measurements were taken on day 5, day 15, and day 30 after delivery. Generalized estimating equations (GEE) analyzed the changes. RESULTS From 169 mother-newborn pairs, GEE showed that weight gain during the first month was influenced by maternal body mass index (BMI), delivery type, birth weight, and jaundice after adjusting confounding factors (p < .05). The neonatal length was affected by the smoking status of parents, gestational maternal health problems, maternal height, birth weight, and jaundice (p < .05). Neonatal head circumference was influenced by the smoking status of parents, gestational maternal health problems, maternal BMI, delivery type, maternal height, and birth weight. CONCLUSION Adverse perinatal factors including mother's smoke exposure, maternal obesity and diabetes, cesarean birth, and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia influence anthropometry in the first months of life.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a mobile-based breastfeeding promotion program (M-BFGDM) that helps mothers with gestational diabetes. METHODS Forty-seven mothers participated in the study, of whom 22 were in the experimental group and 25 in the control group. To verify the effects, a lag design before and after the non-equivalence control group was used. The data collection for the experimental group was done before and after the intervention. RESULTS In the results, breastfeeding knowledge showed a significant difference in the interaction between measurement period and group (χ² = 8.14, p = .017), whereas breastfeeding intention did not show a significant difference in the interaction (χ² = 4.73, p = .094). There was no difference in self-efficacy interaction (F = 0.13, p = .856). The breastfeeding method showed no difference in interaction (F = 0.04, p = .952), whereas cross-analysis showed a significant difference in breastfeeding practice rate between the experimental group and the control group at 1 month postpartum (χ² = 7.59, p = .006). CONCLUSION A mobile-based breastfeeding promotion program was developed and applied for gestational diabetic mothers, resulting in an increase in breastfeeding knowledge and an improvement in breastfeeding practice rate one month after childbirth. In addition, M-BFGDM managed to create a breastfeeding practice environment with fewer time and place restrictions. A program study that complements motivation is needed to improve breastfeeding in pregnant diabetic mothers in the future.

Abstract
In Māori and Pacific adults, the CREBRF rs373863828 minor (A) allele is associated with increased body mass index (BMI) but reduced incidence of type-2 and gestational diabetes mellitus. In this prospective cohort study of Māori and Pacific infants, nested within a nutritional intervention trial for pregnant women with obesity and without pregestational diabetes, we investigated whether the rs373863828 A allele is associated with differences in growth and body composition from birth to 12-18 months' corrected age. Infants with and without the variant allele were compared using generalised linear models adjusted for potential confounding by gestation length, sex, ethnicity and parity, and in a secondary analysis, additionally adjusted for gestational diabetes. Carriage of the rs373863828 A allele was not associated with altered growth and body composition from birth to 6 months. At 12-18 months, infants with the rs373863828 A allele had lower whole-body fat mass [FM 1.4 (0.7) vs. 1.7 (0.7) kg, aMD -0.4, 95% CI -0.7, 0.0, P = 0.05; FM index 2.2 (1.1) vs. 2.6 (1.0) kg/m2 aMD -0.6, 95% CI -1.2,0.0, P = 0.04]. However, this association was not significant after adjustment for gestational diabetes, suggesting that it may be mediated, at least in part, by the beneficial effect of CREBRF rs373863828 A allele on maternal glycemic status.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gestational diabetes is a type of carbohydrate intolerance that is diagnosed for the first time during pregnancy. Researches have shown that gestational diabetes is associated with many negative prenatal and birth outcomes. Because of the complications such as infant death, several diabetics' mothers plan to stop breastfeeding. Research findings indicate a decrease in breastfeeding in mothers with gestational diabetes/ or contradictory tissues regarding the factors affecting the breastfeeding behavior of mothers with gestational diabetes and a special program to promote breastfeeding for these mothers based on the social and cultural conditions of Iranian society. The present study aims to design an interventional program with a mixed qualitative study based on the theory of planned behavior (PBT) to prevent the decrease of breastfeeding in diabetic mothers. METHODS/DESIGN A mixed methods exploratory design will be used to conduct this study in 3 phases. The first phase (qualitative): The purpose of the first phase is to understand the experience of breastfeeding mothers who had gestational diabetes, which will be done using the directed content analysis method. The purposive sampling will be used on pregnant mothers with gestational diabetes 30-34 weeks and mothers with infants (up to 6 months) with a history of gestational diabetes. The second phase include designing and implementing an educational program based on the PBT: Education will be conducted based on the needs assessment of the qualitative phase, the opinions of the focus group, and the literature review, then the breastfeeding behavior will be measured using the survey tool of "breastfeeding drop". The third phase: Interventional quantitative phase: The sample size will be carried out by a pilot study, then a designed program as an educational intervention for teaching breastfeeding behavior based on the PBT for 30-34 weeks pregnant mothers with gestational diabetes will be implemented during 3-4 sessions and breastfeeding behavior will be evaluated after delivery. DISCUSSION This is the first mixed-method study in Iran that led to implement an interventional program based on the theory of planned behavior. Because of the complications such as infant death, several diabetics' mothers plan to stop breastfeeding. We hope that the result of this research will be a step in solving breastfeeding problems in mothers with gestational diabetes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with offspring metabolic disease, including childhood obesity, but causal mediators remain to be established. We assessed the impact of lower versus higher thresholds for detection and treatment of GDM on infant risk factors for obesity, including body composition, growth, nutrition, and appetite. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS In this prospective cohort study within the Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Trial of Diagnostic Detection Thresholds (GEMS), pregnant women were randomly allocated to detection of GDM using the lower criteria of the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups or higher New Zealand criteria (ACTRN12615000290594). Randomly selected control infants of women without GDM were compared with infants exposed to A) GDM by lower but not higher criteria, with usual treatment for diabetes in pregnancy; B) GDM by lower but not higher criteria, untreated; or C) GDM by higher criteria, treated. The primary outcome was whole-body fat mass at 5-6 months. RESULTS There were 760 infants enrolled, and 432 were assessed for the primary outcome. Fat mass was not significantly different between control infants (2.05 kg) and exposure groups: A) GDM by lower but not higher criteria, treated (1.96 kg), adjusted mean difference (aMD) -0.09 (95% CI -0.29, 0.10); B) GDM by lower but not higher criteria, untreated (1.94 kg), aMD -0.15 (95% CI -0.35, 0.06); and C) GDM detected and treated using higher thresholds (1.87 kg), aMD -0.17 (95% CI -0.37, 0.03). CONCLUSIONS GDM detected using lower but not higher criteria, was not associated with increased infant fat mass at 5-6 months, regardless of maternal treatment. GDM detected and treated using higher thresholds was also not associated with increased fat mass at 5-6 months.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is associated with poorer maternal mental health (depression and anxiety). Maternal mental health and GDM are likely to influence diet, which in turn impacts the course of GDM. Maternal diet may also be directly or indirectly associated with changes in infant anthropometry. The aims of this study are to (1) examine the associations between maternal GDM, mental health and diet, and (2) evaluate the associations between these maternal factors, breastmilk composition and infant anthropometry. METHODS This prospective, observational, longitudinal cohort study compares a cohort of women with and without GDM. Maternal mental health and diet are assessed using validated questionnaires. Breastmilk composition is measured with the Human Milk Analyzer, and infant body composition is measured with air displacement plethysmography. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT Once data have been collected, PsyNBIOsis will provide evidence for the associations between maternal mental health, GDM status and diet, and their impact on breastmilk composition and early infant growth. The results may inform the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease framework and provide data on which to build cost-effective interventions to prevent both the development of mental health issues in mothers and adverse growth patterns in infants.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In-utero hyperglycemia exposure influences later cardiometabolic risk, although few studies include women with pre-existing type 2 diabetes (T2D) or assess maternal body mass index (BMI) as a potential confounder. OBJECTIVE To explore the association of maternal T2D and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) with childhood anthropometry, and the influence of maternal BMI on these associations. METHODS The PANDORA cohort comprises women (n = 1138) and children (n = 1163). Women with GDM and T2D were recruited from a hyperglycemia in pregnancy register, and women with normoglycemia from the community. Wave 1 follow-up included 423 children, aged 1.5-5 years (median follow-up age 2.5 years). Multivariable linear regression assessed associations between maternal antenatal variables, including BMI and glycemic status, with offspring anthropometry (weight, height, BMI, skinfold thicknesses, waist, arm and head circumferences). RESULTS Greater maternal antenatal BMI was associated with increased anthropometric measures in offspring independent of maternal glycemic status. After adjustment, including for maternal BMI, children exposed to maternal GDM had lower mean weight (-0.54 kg, 95% CI: -0.99, -0.11), BMI (-0.55 kg/m2, 95% CI: -0.91, -0.20), head (-0.52 cm, 95% CI: -0.88, -0.16) and mid-upper arm (-0.32 cm, 95% CI: -0.63, -0.01) circumferences, and greater mean suprailiac skinfold (0.78 mm, 95% CI: 0.13, 1.43), compared to children exposed to normoglycemia. Adjustment for maternal BMI strengthened the negative association between GDM and child weight, BMI and circumferences. Children exposed to maternal T2D had smaller mean head circumference (-0.82 cm, 95% CI: -1.33, -0.31) than children exposed to normoglycemia. Maternal T2D was no longer associated with greater child mean skinfolds (p = 0.14) or waist circumference (p = 0.18) after adjustment for maternal BMI. CONCLUSIONS Children exposed to GDM had greater suprailiac skinfold thickness than unexposed children, despite having lower mean weight, BMI and mid-upper arm circumference, and both GDM and T2D were associated with smaller mean head circumference. Future research should assess whether childhood anthropometric differences influence lifetime cardiometabolic and neurodevelopmental risk.

Abstract
AIMS The present study aimed to prospectively evaluate the influence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on the gut microbiota in 1- and 6-month-old offspring, as well as the dynamic changes from 1 to 6 months of age. METHODS Seventy-three mother-infant dyads (34 GDM vs 39 non-GDM) were included in this longitudinal study. Two fecal samples were collected for each included infant at home by the parents at 1 month of age ("M1 phase") and again at 6 months of age ("M6 phase"). Gut microbiota were profiled by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. RESULTS Although no significant differences were observed in diversity and composition between GDM and non-GDM groups in the M1 phase, we observed differential structures and composition in the M6 phase between the 2 groups (P < .05), with lower levels of diversity, 6 depleted and 10 enriched gut microbes among infants born to GDM mothers. The dynamic changes in alpha diversity from the M1 to M6 phase were also significantly different according to GDM status (P < .05). Moreover, we found that the altered gut bacteria in the GDM group were correlated with infants' growth. CONCLUSION Maternal GDM was associated not only with the community structure and composition in the gut microbiota of offspring at a specific time point, but also with the differential changes from birth to infancy. Altered colonization of the GDM infants' gut microbiota might affect their growth. Our findings underscore the critical impact of GDM on the formation of early-life gut microbiota and on the growth and development of infants.

Abstract
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) refers to a transient state of impaired glucose tolerance that develops during pregnancy, affecting a significant proportion of expectant mothers globally. This review aimed to comprehensively examine the subsequent incidence and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in women who have previously experienced GDM. The transition from GDM to T2DM is a well-recognized continuum, with affected women facing an increased risk of developing T2DM postpartum. Several studies have demonstrated that women with a history of GDM face a substantially higher risk of developing T2DM compared to normoglycemic pregnant women. The long-term consequences of developing T2DM following GDM are significant, as it not only affects the health of the mother but also poses risks to the offspring. The most common risk factors associated with the progression of GDM to T2DM include pregnancy at an advanced age, insulin treatment during pregnancy, and delivering an overweight baby. As GDM women are at higher risk of developing T2DM, effective management strategies such as lifestyle changes, postpartum care, breastfeeding, screening tests, and gaining awareness of risk are crucial to mitigate the risk of T2DM in this population. The current review was conducted to guide healthcare providers and women with a history of GDM about the potential risks of T2DM and management strategies to prevent the condition. This review provides a summary of evidence on the incidence rate of T2DM in GDM patients, its associated risk factors, and approaches to mitigate this challenge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in recent years with serious health ramifications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the strength and validity of associations between diabetes and anti-diabetic interventions and the risk of any type of gynaecological or obstetric conditions. METHODS Design: Umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. DATA SOURCES PubMed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, manual screening of references. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of observational and interventional studies investigating the relationship between diabetes and anti-diabetic interventions with gynaecological or obstetric outcomes. Meta-analyses that did not include complete data from individual studies, such as relative risk, 95% confidence intervals, number of cases/controls, or total population were excluded. DATA ANALYSIS The evidence from meta-analyses of observational studies was graded as strong, highly suggestive, suggestive or weak according to criteria comprising the random effects estimate of meta-analyses and their largest study, the number of cases, 95% prediction intervals, I2 heterogeneity index between studies, excess significance bias, small study effect and sensitivity analysis using credibility ceilings. Interventional meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials were assessed separately based on the statistical significance of reported associations, the risk of bias and quality of evidence (GRADE) of included meta-analyses. RESULTS A total of 117 meta-analyses of observational cohort studies and 200 meta-analyses of randomised clinical trials that evaluated 317 outcomes were included. Strong or highly suggestive evidence only supported a positive association between gestational diabetes and caesarean section, large for gestational age babies, major congenital malformations and heart defects and an inverse relationship between metformin use and ovarian cancer incidence. Only a fifth of the randomised controlled trials investigating the effect of anti-diabetic interventions on women's health reached statistical significance and highlighted metformin as a more effective agent than insulin on risk reduction of adverse obstetric outcomes in both gestational and pre-gestational diabetes. CONCLUSIONS Gestational diabetes appears to be strongly associated with a high risk of caesarean section and large for gestational age babies. Weaker associations were demonstrated between diabetes and anti-diabetic interventions with other obstetric and gynaecological outcomes. Abstract
BACKGROUND Rapid postnatal growth may result from exposure in utero or early life to adverse conditions and has been associated with diseases later in life and, in particular, with childhood obesity. DNA methylation, interfacing early-life exposures and subsequent diseases, is a possible mechanism underlying early-life programming. METHODS Here, a meta-analysis of Illumina HumanMethylation 450K/EPIC-array associations of cord blood DNA methylation at single CpG sites and CpG genomic regions with rapid weight growth at 1 year of age (defined with reference to WHO growth charts) was conducted in six European-based child cohorts (ALSPAC, ENVIRONAGE, Generation XXI, INMA, Piccolipiù, and RHEA, N = 2003). The association of gestational age acceleration (calculated using the Bohlin epigenetic clock) with rapid weight growth was also explored via meta-analysis. Follow-up analyses of identified DNA methylation signals included prediction of rapid weight growth, mediation of the effect of conventional risk factors on rapid weight growth, integration with transcriptomics and metabolomics, association with overweight in childhood (between 4 and 8 years), and comparison with previous findings. RESULTS Forty-seven CpGs were associated with rapid weight growth at suggestive p-value <1e-05 and, among them, three CpGs (cg14459032, cg25953130 annotated to ARID5B, and cg00049440 annotated to KLF9) passed the genome-wide significance level (p-value <1.25e-07). Sixteen differentially methylated regions (DMRs) were identified as associated with rapid weight growth at false discovery rate (FDR)-adjusted/Siddak p-values < 0.01. Gestational age acceleration was associated with decreasing risk of rapid weight growth (p-value = 9.75e-04). Identified DNA methylation signals slightly increased the prediction of rapid weight growth in addition to conventional risk factors. Among the identified signals, three CpGs partially mediated the effect of gestational age on rapid weight growth. Both CpGs (N=3) and DMRs (N=3) were associated with differential expression of transcripts (N=10 and 7, respectively), including long non-coding RNAs. An AURKC DMR was associated with childhood overweight. We observed enrichment of CpGs previously reported associated with birthweight. CONCLUSIONS Our findings provide evidence of the association between cord blood DNA methylation and rapid weight growth and suggest links with prenatal exposures and association with childhood obesity providing opportunities for early prevention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vitamin D status and requirements of infants of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are unclear. OBJECTIVES The objectives were to assess vitamin D status in infants of mothers with GDM and compare vitamin D status in response to 400 vs. 1000 IU/d vitamin D supplementation in infants born with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] <50 nmol/L. METHODS Women with GDM delivering full-term infants (n = 98; March 2017-2019, Montreal, Canada) were surveyed for demographic and lifestyle factors. Pregnancy history was obtained from medical records. Newborn serum 25(OH)D was measured (immunoassay) and categorized as <30 (deficient) or ≥40 nmol/L (adequate). Breastfed neonates (n = 16) with serum 25(OH)D <50 nmol/L at birth were randomly assigned to 400 or 1000 IU/d of supplemental cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), and serum 25(OH)D was measured at baseline (≤1 mo) and 3, 6, and 12 mo of age. Groups were compared using a linear mixed-effects model and Tukey-Kramer post hoc tests. RESULTS Mean newborn serum 25(OH)D was 46.4 (95% CI: 43.9, 49.9) nmol/L, with 15.3% (95% CI: 8.2%, 22.4%) <30 nmol/L and 61.2% (95% CI: 51.6%, 70.9%) ≥40 nmol/L. During the trial, most infants were breastfed to 3 mo (400 IU/d: 87.5%; 1000 IU/d: 75.0%). Mean (± SEM) infant serum 25(OH)D was higher in the 1000-IU/d group at 3 mo (79.9 ± 5.9 vs. 111.5 ± 15.2 nmol/L; P = 0.0263), and although not different at 6-12 mo, was maintained at >50 nmol/L. CONCLUSIONS Most infants of women with GDM had adequate vitamin D status in this study. In those born with serum 25(OH)D <50 nmol/L, vitamin D status was corrected by 3 mo of age in response to 400 or 1000 IU/d of supplemental vitamin D. Dietary guidance should continue to recommend that all women who could become pregnant take a multivitamin supplement and that breastfed infants receive 400 IU/d of supplemental vitamin D. Abstract
BACKGROUND Few studies have assessed whether children exposed to in utero hyperglycaemia experience different growth trajectories compared to unexposed children. OBJECTIVES To assess association of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) with early childhood weight, length/height and body mass index (BMI) trajectories, and with timing and magnitude of peak BMI in infancy. METHODS PANDORA is a birth cohort recruited from an Australian hyperglycaemia in pregnancy register, and women with normoglycaemia recruited from the community. Offspring growth measures were obtained from health records over a median follow-up of 3.0 years (interquartile range 1.9-4.0). This analysis included children born to Aboriginal mothers with in utero normoglycaemia (n = 95), GDM (n = 228) or T2D (n = 131). Growth trajectories (weight, length/height and BMI) were estimated using linear mixed models with cubic spline functions of child age. RESULTS After adjustment for maternal factors (age, BMI, parity, smoking, and socioeconomic measures) and child factors (age, gestational age at birth, and sex), children born to mothers with T2D or GDM had lower weight, length/height and BMI trajectories in infancy than children born to mothers with normoglycaemia, but similar weight and BMI by completion of follow-up. Children exposed to T2D had lower mean peak BMI 17.6 kg/m2 (95% confidence interval [CI] 17.3-18.0) than children exposed to normoglycaemia (18.6 kg/m2 [18.1-18.9]) (p = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Maternal hyperglycaemia was associated with differences in early childhood growth trajectories after adjustment for maternal BMI. Exploration of associations between in utero hyperglycaemia exposure and growth trajectories into later childhood is required.

Effect of Evidence-Based Diet Nursing on Intestinal Flora and Maternal and Infant Prognosis in Patients with Gestational Diabetes. Abstract
Background. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) refers to the diabetes first discovered or occurring during pregnancy. The incidence of gestational diabetes in China is about 1%–5%, with an increasing trend in recent years. Objective. To observe the effect of evidence-based diet nursing on intestinal flora and maternal and infant prognosis in patients with gestational diabetes. Methods. One hundred and thirty patients with GDM admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected and divided into two groups according to the intervention method, with 65 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing plus diet nursing, while the observation group was given evidence-based nursing plus diet nursing. The changes of blood glucose index and intestinal flora before and after intervention in the two groups were detected, and the compliance behavior, pregnancy outcome, and perinatal outcome in the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results. After the intervention, the fasting blood glucose, 2 h postprandial blood glucose, and HbA1c in the two groups gradually decreased (
). Further comparison between the groups showed that the fasting blood glucose, 2 h postprandial blood glucose, and HbA1c in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (
). After intervention, the ratios of Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium to E. coli in the two groups gradually increased (
). Furthermore, comparison between the groups showed that the ratios of Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium to E. coli in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (
). The blood glucose rate, regular prenatal examination rate, and diet control rate of the observation group were 100.00%, 100.00%, and 95.38%, respectively, which were higher than 89.23%, 92.31%, and 84.62% of the control group, and the difference was significant (
). The pregnancy infection rate and cesarean section rate in the observation group were 0.00% and 33.85%, respectively, which were lower than 6.15% and 60.00% in the control group, and the difference was significant (
).The premature delivery rate and polyhydramnios rate in the observation group were 3.08% and 1.54%, respectively, which were not significantly different from 6.15% to 7.69% in the control group (
). The rates of macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycemia, and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in the observation group were 1.54%, 3.08%, and 9.23%, respectively, which were lower than those in the control group (10.77%, 13.85%, and 23.08%), and the differences were significant (
). The fetal malformation rate and neonatal asphyxia rate in the observation group were 0.00% and 1.54%, respectively, which were not significantly different from 1.54% to 7.69% in the control group (
). Conclusion. The application of evidence-based care combined with dietary care in GDM patients can improve intestinal flora, control blood glucose, improve patient compliance behavior, and improve maternal and infant outcomes.

Abstract
Background Mothers and babies with gestational diabetes have an increased risk of diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular complications. Breastfeeding is known to help reduce complications in mothers and babies with gestational diabetes. However, the rate of breastfeeding among mothers with gestational diabetes is still low due to various barriers. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop a mobile application to improve the breastfeeding barrier of pregnant women with gestational diabetes. Methods The Method of App Selection based on Users’ Needs is a method used in designing app structure and user interface by considering user needs. This method was used to develop the Breastfeeding for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus App, reflecting the needs of target users. Four personas were created based on the experiences of four mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus, and these personas’ needs were assessed and prioritized. Two professors and a clinical instructor in women’s health nursing conducted an expert review and revised the contents. Results Our “Breastfeeding for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus App” included the following components to promote breastfeeding in mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus: baby growth, breastfeeding records, information about mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus, information about breastfeeding, videos demonstrating breastfeeding methods and breast massage techniques, breastfeeding success stories, a message board, a section for frequently asked questions and answers, and links to breastfeeding education centers. Conclusions Use of our App is expected to help prevent complications in mothers with diabetes mellitus and their babies and to promote maternal and child health through improved breastfeeding practices, especially in social distancing situations resulting from COVID-19.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS There is a large body of research focused on various aspects related to Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF) and human health and disease. This study aimed to quantify the bibliometric data of RIF medical research over the past seven decades and explore these variables qualitatively via text mining analysis. METHODS We used the Scopus search engine to identify published articles related to RIF from inception to December 31, 2021. All types of research articles were included. Scientometric and bibliometric measures were determined using Excel, Biblioshiny, and VOSviewer. This study proposed a bibliometric and text mining method to qualitatively and quantitatively recognize the RIF research trend. RESULTS The Scopus search returned 1915 relevant articles. Most citations pertained to publications from the last two decades, and most publications were original research articles. These publications had received around 27,000 citations, and the 20 most prolific publishing journals had an average h-index of 112.25. More than one-third of all medical publications were in open-access journals. There was a 13-fold increase in medical research on RIF over the past few decades. We identified the 10 most prolific publishing countries, institutes, journals, and authors. We also identified five scientific hotspots of RIF scientific literature, which were: diabetes, metabolic health, public health, physiology, and maternity. CONCLUSION This is the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of medical research related to RIF. The research gaps identified will shape future research directions and foster collaborative research activities toward enhanced medical nutrition research revolving around RIF.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To conduct a scoping review to examine the relationship between a diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and the neonatal and infant gut microbiome from 0 to 1 year of age. DATA SOURCES We searched PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and CINAHL for articles with key terms "microbiome" and "gestational diabetes mellitus." STUDY SELECTION We included articles published in English in peer-reviewed journals between 2012 and 2021 that were reports of original research studies in which researchers used next-generation sequencing for analysis of the fecal microbiome and collected meconium or transitional stool from neonates and infants. DATA EXTRACTION We identified nine studies with a combined sample size of 1,279 neonates and infants. We extracted data, including title, authors, sample size, study design, methods, findings, significance, and limitations. We extracted and charted confounding variables such as treatment of GDM, body mass index, gestational age at birth, antibiotic use, mode of birth, and feeding method. DATA SYNTHESIS Gestational diabetes mellitus may alter the neonatal and infant gut microbiome because neonates and infants of women with GDM had altered composition and diversity compared to neonates and infants of women without GDM. CONCLUSION Mechanisms by which the neonatal and infant microbiome changes in response to GDM are poorly understood and need to be evaluated in future research. Further study of how GDM plays a role in the initial seeding of the microbiome, how the maternal microbiome may affect fetal metabolic programming, and how the neonatal microbiome leads to the future development of obesity and glucose intolerance is critical. Future studies should include larger sample sizes, appropriate collection of potential confounding variables, assessment of maternal interventions for GDM, and longitudinal designs to further understand potential associations with long-term detrimental outcomes such as obesity and impaired glucose tolerance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Benefits of breastfeeding on infant growth in children born to mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are uncertain. OBJECTIVES To describe growth trajectories between birth and 14 months according to breastfeeding and maternal hyperglycaemia in pregnancy, and assess associations between breastfeeding and 14 month growth outcomes among children born to mothers with GDM. SUBJECTS/METHODS Data on 258 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander infants from the PANDORA study born to mothers with normoglycaemia (n = 73), GDM (n = 122), or with pre-existing type 2 diabetes (n = 63) in pregnancy were assessed. Infant weight and BMI growth trajectories according to predominant breastfeeding at 6 months and hyperglycaemia in pregnancy were developed using mixed-effect models and cubic splines. Associations between breastfeeding and 14-month growth outcomes (z-scores: weight-for-age, weight-for-length and BMI) were evaluated using linear regression in a subgroup of infants born to mothers with GDM. RESULTS Predominantly breastfed infants had lower BMI trajectories compared to those not predominantly breastfed, irrespective of maternal hyperglycaemia in pregnancy status (p < 0.01 for all groups), and lower weight trajectories among those born to mothers with GDM (p = 0.006). Among offspring of women with GDM, predominant breastfeeding was only associated with lower weight-for-age at 14 months, however adjusting for maternal obesity, smoking, and parity attenuated observed associations. Maternal obesity remained significantly associated with greater infant growth. CONCLUSIONS Predominant breastfeeding was associated with reduced growth among children born to women with and without hyperglycaemia in pregnancy. However, among children exposed to GDM in utero, maternal obesity largely explained this association.

Abstract
A mathematical mixed effect model was established to analyse the factors of neonatal hypoglycaemia of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). 229 cases of GDM patients were enrolled in this study. The data were analysed by logarithmic transformation of non-normal distribution. Furthermore, the mathematical model was used to analyse influencing factors of hypoglycaemia of neonatal from women with GDM. The results showed that the blood glucose distribution level had a trend of increasing with time, which indicates that it is necessary to strengthen blood glucose intervention of newborns from GDM maternal and provides a data for the timely detection of hypoglycaemia in GDM newborns. Furthermore, we successfully established the GDM newborn blood glucose level mixed mathematical model. From this model, we calculated the GDM newborn blood glucose normal confidence interval based on mixed factors. The results indicate that the minimum value of blood glucose level in GDM newborns did not exceed the risk level 2.2 mmol/L. We concluded that the mathematical mixed effect model is successfully established, from which the change discipline of blood glucose level of newborn from GDM parturient are found. Impact statementWhat is already known on this subject? The morbidity of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in China has been increased. However, the clinical data is difficult to be collected and the data that is used for statistics is not enough, which makes it difficult to understand the neonatal hypoglycaemia of GDM more clearly.What do the results of this study add? In this study, we successfully established a mathematical mixed effect model of neonatal hypoglycaemia of women with GDM, which can investigate the influence factor of hypoglycaemia of newborn from women with GDM to find the discipline of blood glucose level of newborn from GDM parturient via mathematical model.What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Our research helps to better understand and improve the health problem of pregnant women with GDM and their newborn babies.

Abstract
Background Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is major pregnancy complication that is associated with short- and long-term consequences for both mother and infant, including increased risk of diabetes later in life. A longer breastfeeding duration has been associated with a reduced risk of diabetes, however, women with GDM are less likely to exclusively breastfeed and have shorter breastfeeding duration. While the timing of breastfeeding initiation and milk removal frequency affects subsequent breastfeeding outcomes, little is known about early infant feeding practices and milk production in women with GDM. This case series offers detailed prospective breastfeeding initiation data, as well as the first report of objective measures of milk production in women with GDM. Case presentation In this case series, we present the early infant feeding practices of eight women with GDM that gave birth at term gestation. Women recorded the timing of initiation of breastfeeding and secretory activation, as well as their breastfeeding, expression and formula feeding frequencies on postpartum days 1, 7 and 21. Measurement of 24 h milk production volume was performed at 3 weeks postpartum using the test weight method. We observed a delayed first breastfeed (> 1 h) in 6 (75%) cases, formula use in hospital in 5 (63%) cases and delayed secretory activation in 3 (38%) cases. At 3 weeks postpartum, 2 cases had measured milk productions that were insufficient to sustain adequate infant weight gain. Conclusions Our data suggest that despite early and frequent milk removal, women with GDM are at greater risk of delayed secretory activation and low milk supply. Cohort studies that consider co-morbidities such as obesity are needed to determine the lactation outcomes of women with GDM.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of breastfeeding (BF) on metabolic-related outcomes in women with previous gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods: Databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, were searched until March 5, 2020. Finally, 14 high-quality articles were included. Relative risk (RR) and weighted mean difference (WMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were pooled using Stata14.0 Software. Results: Subjects in the BF group had a lower incidence of diabetes (RR: 0.611, 95% CI: 0.452-0.826, p < 0.001) and lower fasting plasma glucose level (WMD: -4.762, 95% CI: -5.552 to -3.973, p < 0.001), fasting insulin level (WMD: -21.513, 95% CI: -37.594 to -5.431, p = 0.009), homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (WMD: -1.107, 95% CI: -1.683 to -0.532, p < 0.001), and triglyceride level (WMD: -33.951, 95% CI: -50.714 to -17.189, p < 0.001) than those in the non-BF group. The high-density lipoprotein level (WMD: 3.855, 95% CI: 2.629-5.081, p < 0.001), low-density lipoprotein level (WMD: 4.223, 95% CI: 0.6712-7.774, p = 0.020), and insulin sensitivity index (WMD: 1.503, 95% CI: 0.857-2.160, p < 0.001) in the BF group were higher than that in the non-BF group. No difference was found in the 2-hour postprandial blood glucose (WMD: -3.804, 95% CI: -8.237 to 0.630, p = 0.093), incidence of prediabetes mellitus (RR: 0.870, 95% CI: 0.750-1.009, p = 0.065), or cholesterol level (WMD: 1.377, 95% CI: -8.178 to 10.931, p = 0.778) between the two groups. Conclusion: BF may improve several metabolic markers and decrease the risk of developing diabetes.

Abstract
Breastfeeding rates remain extremely low in Greece and women with gestational diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism may experience additional difficulties. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of a structured individualized lactation educational intervention by a midwife on increasing breastfeeding rates in women with endocrine disorders and low-risk women compared to women receiving standard care, 24 months after delivery. Two-hundred women made up the study population. Half of them were experiencing endocrine pregnancy disorders and 100 women constituted the low-risk pregnancy standard care control group. Women who were breastfeeding exclusively were significantly higher in the midwifery intervention group with endocrine disorders, namely breastfeeding continued at four months (breastfeeding: 20% vs. 12%, exclusive breastfeeding: 50% vs. 26%, p = 0.0228), and at six months after childbirth (breastfeeding: 54% vs. 28%, exclusive breastfeeding: 32% vs. 12%, p = 0.0011), compared to the standard care control group with endocrine disorder. The low-risk midwifery intervention group breastfed at four months (22% vs. 14%, p = 0.0428) and at six months (52% vs. 26%, p = 0.0018) at higher rates compared to the standard care control group. In addition, exclusive breastfeeding was significantly higher in the low-risk midwifery intervention group at four months (46% vs. 20%, p = 0.0102) and six months (38% vs. 4%, p < 0.0001) compared to the standard care control group. This study was the first attempt of a structured midwifery breastfeeding education in Greece and its major contribution reflects a significant positive impact on breastfeeding rates in terms of duration and exclusivity in women with gestational endocrine disorders as well as in low-risk women, and could possibly be applied and instituted in everyday clinical practice to increase the low breastfeeding rates in Greece.

Abstract
Breastfeeding is internationally recognized as the recommended standard for infant nutrition, informed by evidence of its multiple benefits for both mother and baby. In the context of common metabolic conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes (type 1, type 2, and gestational), and obesity, breastfeeding may be particularly beneficial for both mother and infant. However, there is evidence of delayed lactogenesis and reduced breastfeeding rates and duration in women with these conditions, and the effects of altered maternal metabolic environments on breastmilk composition (and potentially infant outcomes) are incompletely understood. In this review, we explore the relationships between maternal metabolic conditions, lactogenesis, breastfeeding, and breastmilk composition. We examine relevant potential mechanisms, including the central role of insulin both in lactogenesis and as a milk-borne hormone. We also describe the bioactive and hormonal components of breastmilk and how these may link maternal and infant health.

Abstract
Medical nutrition therapy is an integral part of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) management; however, the prescription of optimal energy intake is often a difficult task due to the limited available evidence. The present pilot, feasibility, parallel, open-label and non-randomized study aimed to evaluate the effect of a very low energy diet (VLED, 1600 kcal/day), or a low energy diet (LED, 1800 kcal/day), with or without personalized exercise sessions, among women with GDM in singleton pregnancies. A total of 43 women were allocated to one of four interventions at GDM diagnosis: (1) VLED (n = 15), (2) VLED + exercise (n = 4), (3) LED (n = 16) or (4) LED + exercise (n = 8). Primary outcomes were gestational weight gain (GWG), infant birth weight, complications at delivery and a composite outcomes score. Secondary outcomes included type of delivery, prematurity, small- for-gestational-age (SGA) or large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infants, macrosomia, Apgar score, insulin use, depression, respiratory quotient (RQ), resting metabolic rate (RMR) and middle-upper arm circumference (MUAC). GWG differed between intervention groups (LED median: 12.0 kg; VLED: 5.9 kg). No differences were noted in the type of delivery, infant birth weight, composite score, prevalence of prematurity, depression, RQ, Apgar score, MUAC, or insulin use among the four groups. Regarding components of the composite score, most infants (88.4%) were appropriate-for-gestational age (AGA) and born at a gestational age of 37–42 weeks (95.3%). With respect to the mothers, 9.3% experienced complications at delivery, with the majority being allocated at the VLED + exercise arm (p < 0.03). The composite score was low (range 0–2.5) for all mother-infant pairs, indicating a “risk-free” pregnancy outcome. The results indicate that adherence to a LED or VLED induces similar maternal, infant and obstetrics outcomes.

Abstract
Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) may be associated with delayed onset of lactogenesis (DOL), but it is still inconclusive. Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate the association between GDM and DOL, the prevalence and risk factors of DOL in GDM women. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in 10 electronic databases from inception to June 1, 2020. To find more eligible studies, the references of finally eligible studies and relevant reviews were traced manually. A meta-analysis was conducted to calculate the pooled estimates of association, prevalence, and risk factors using random- or fixed-effects models. Results: Eleven eligible articles involving 8,150 women were included in this study. GDM women had a higher risk of DOL (odds ratio [OR] = 1.84, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.34-2.52]). The prevalence of delayed lactogenesis onset in GDM women was 35.0% (effect size [ES] = 0.35, 95% CI [0.30-0.40]). Primipara (OR = 2.54, 95% CI [1.89-3.42]), advanced age (OR = 1.05, 95% CI [1.03-1.08]), prepregnancy obesity (OR = 1.55, 95% CI [1.19-2.03]), and insulin treatment (OR = 3.07, 95% CI [1.71-5.47]) were risk factors of delayed lactogenesis onset in GDM women. Conclusion: GDM negatively affects the timing of lactogenesis onset. The prevalence of delayed lactogenesis onset in GDM women is 35.0%. Primipara, advanced age, prepregnancy obesity, and insulin treatment are independent risk factors of delayed lactogenesis onset in GDM women.
