Abstract
In the 1H-NMR spectra of a series of N-1 substituted 4-substituted-1H-1,2,3-triazoles that have been prepared, the lone heterocyclic ring hydrogen (H-5) appears as a singlet in all cases except those compounds that contain a 2-fluorophenyl moiety at Position 4. In those cases, H-5 is a doublet with J ~3.7 Hz. Based on computational chemistry results and geometric considerations, we attribute this splitting to through-space H-F coupling.

Abstract
Macrocyclic bis-diphosphenes, formally heavier derivatives of macrocyclic azobenzenes, are accessed for the first time. These are synthesised in a reproducible fashion, through the nickel-mediated homocoupling of xanthene-derived NHC-stabilised bis-phosphinidene units. This gives direct access to target macrocyclic bis-diphosphenes 2, featuring exo-cyclic coordinated Ni0 fragments. The endo-cyclic binding mode in 3 is realised by NHC-abstraction using CuCl, so demonstrating two homometallic binding modes for this system. Additionally, reaction with CuCl in acetonitrile yields small amounts of a tetra-metallic NiII/CuI complex, which establishes simultaneous exo- and endo-cyclic metal binding. Fluctional solution state behavior in these systems is explored through variable temperature NMR spectroscopy, in addition to computational bonding analyses, giving the first insights into this novel class of compounds.

Abstract
The intramolecular through-space NMR spectroscopic effect of steric compression is related to intramolecular through-space van der Waals repulsion. The electron cloud of a proton can be pushed away by the electron cloud of a nearby proton or functional group. As the electron population of the sterically compressed proton is decreased (therefore deshielded), the chemical shift sharply moves downfield, which may result in ambiguity for the proton signal assignment. Also, the conformation of the local area of the sterically compressed proton can be altered by the steric repulsion, therefore, the coupling constant/coupling pattern of a sterically compressed proton could be influenced. This review summarizes and presents the impacts on the chemical shift and coupling constant by the 1H NMR spectroscopic effect of steric compression extracted from the reported examples from the 1950s to 2021.

Abstract
Using the principle that constrained conformational spaces can generate novel and hidden molecular properties, we challenged the commonly held perception that a single-centered Lewis acid reacting with a single-centered Lewis base always forms a single Lewis adduct. Accordingly, the emergence of single-centered but multiple Lewis acidity among sterically hindered and non-symmetric triaryl-boranes is reported. These Lewis acids feature several diastereotopic faces providing multiple binding sites at the same Lewis acid center in the interaction with Lewis bases giving rise to adducts with diastereomeric structures. We demonstrate that with a proper choice of the base, atropisomeric adduct species can be formed that interconvert via the dissociative mechanism rather than conformational isomerism. The existence of this exotic and peculiar molecular phenomenon was experimentally confirmed by the formation of atropisomeric piperidine-borane adducts using state-of-the-art NMR techniques in combination with computational methods.

Abstract
A method for computing spin-spin coupling constants (SSCCs) using the reference interaction site model self-consistent field with constrained spatial electron density (RISM-SCF-cSED) is proposed for the first time. Describing solvents using integral equation theory allows us to reflect solvent effects at atomic resolution in SSCCs while accounting for thermal fluctuations at a low computational cost. Applying the method to water, 1,1-difluoroethylene, and 1-methylaminomethylene-2-naphthalenone revealed that the solvent shift was evaluated to a greater extent than in the continuum solvent model. The origin of this phenomenon was analyzed in terms of the physical mechanisms underlying SSCCs.

Abstract
NHC-based pincers (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) have been broadly employed as supporting platforms, and their palladium complexes have found many synthetic applications. However, previous studies mainly focused on the NHC pincers of palladium featuring an oxidation number of +II. In contrast, oxidation of these well-defined Pd(II) species and the study of their fundamental high-valent Pd chemistry remain largely undeveloped. In addition, from a perspective of PdII/PdIV catalysis, the reactivity and degradation of NHC pincers in catalytically relevant reactions have not been well understood. In this work, a series of Pd(II) complexes supported by a well-known NHC^Aryl^NHC pincer platform have been prepared. Their reactivity towards various oxidizing reagents, including halogen surrogates, electrophilic fluorine reagents, and alkyl/aryl halides, has been examined. In some cases, ambient-characterizable high-valent Pd NHCs, which have been scarcely reported, were obtained. The carbenes incorporated into the pincer framework proved to be effective spectator donors. In contrast, the central aryl moiety exhibits versatile reactivity and collapse pathways, allowing it to function either as a spectator or a non-innocent actor.

Abstract
Bis-silylenes do not only act as strong chelating σ-donor ligands, but also exhibit cooperative behaviour in the activation of small molecules. Three different P-Si containing molecules were prepared from the reaction between tBuCP and different bis-silylenes, which are bridged by ferrocenediyl, diaminobenzene, or o-carborane.

Abstract
In this study, we investigated the potential of long-range fluorine-carbon J-coupling for determining the structures of deoxyfluorinated disaccharides. Three disaccharides, previously synthesized as potential galectin inhibitors, exhibited through-space fluorine-carbon J-couplings. In our independent conformational analysis of these disaccharide derivatives, we employed a combination of density functional theory (DFT) calculations and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. By comparing the calculated nuclear shieldings with the experimental carbon chemical shifts, we were able to identify the most probable conformers for each compound. A model comprising fluoromethane and methane molecules was used to study the relationship between molecular arrangements and intermolecular through-space J-coupling. Our study demonstrates the important effect of internuclear distance and molecular orientation on the magnitude of fluorine-carbon coupling. The experimental values for the fluorine-carbon through-space couplings (TSCs) of the disaccharides corresponded with values calculated for the most probable conformers identified by the conformational analysis. These results unlock the broader application of fluorine-carbon TSCs as powerful tools for conformational analysis of flexible molecules, offering valuable insights for future structural investigations.

Abstract
We will discuss, with the help of few selected examples, how the concept of through-space scalar spin-spin coupling between non covalently bonded nuclei has evolved in recent years. We will first present systems where 'no covalent bond' actually means that the two atoms are separated by a large number of bonds; then we will see cases where it is referred to true van der Waals dimers, but with the two atoms somehow constrained in their positions; we will finish with the most recent examples of liquids and even gaseous mixtures with full translational degrees of freedom in a regime of intermolecular/interatomic fast exchange.

Abstract
A series of phosphorus and selenium peri-substituted acenaphthene species with the phosphino group oxidized by O, S, and Se has been isolated and fully characterized, including by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The P(V) and Se(II) systems showed fluxional behavior in solution due to the presence of two major rotamers, as evidenced with solution NMR spectroscopy. Using Variable-Temperature NMR (VT NMR) and supported by DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations and solid-state NMR, the major rotamers in the solid and in solution were identified. All compounds showed a loss of the through-space JPSe coupling observed in the unoxidized P(III) and Se(II) systems due to the sequestration of the lone pair of the phosphine, which has been previously identified as the major contributor to the coupling pathway.

Abstract
In the field of noncovalent interactions, chalcogen bonding (ChB) involving the tellurium atom is currently attracting much attention in supramolecular chemistry and in catalysis. However, as a prerequisite for its application, the ChB should be studied in solution to assess its formation and, if possible, to evaluate its strength. In this context, new tellurium derivatives bearing CH2F and CF3 groups were designed to exhibit Te⋯F ChB and were synthesized in good to high yields. In both types of compounds, Te⋯F interactions were characterized in solution by combining 19F, 125Te and HOESY NMR techniques. These Te⋯F ChBs were shown to contribute to the overall JTe-F coupling constants (94-170 Hz) measured in the CH2F- and CF3-based tellurium derivatives. Finally, a variable temperature NMR study allowed us to approximate the energy of the Te⋯F ChB, from 3 kJ mol-1 for the compounds with weak Te σ-holes to 11 kJ mol-1 for Te σ-holes activated by the presence of strong electron withdrawing substituents.

Abstract
This work describes the design and synthesis of a π-conjugated telluro[3,2-β][1]-tellurophene-based synthon that, embodying pyridyl and haloaryl chalcogen-bonding acceptors, self-assembles into nanoribbons through chalcogen bonds. The ribbons π-stack in a multi-layered architecture both in single crystals and thin films. Theoretical studies of the electronic states of chalcogen-bonded material showed the presence of a local charge density between Te and N atoms. OTFT-based charge transport measurements showed hole-transport properties for this material. Its integration as a p-type semiconductor in multi-layered CuI -based light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) led to a 10-fold increase in stability (38 h vs. 3 h) compared to single-layered devices. Finally, using the reference tellurotellurophene congener bearing a C-H group instead of the pyridyl N atom, a herringbone solid-state assembly is formed without charge transport features, resulting in LECs with poor stabilities (<1 h).

Abstract
We present herein two complementary theoretical approaches for analyzing the transmission pathways of indirect nuclear spin-spin couplings in high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance. This phenomenon is notably conceptually poorly understood in complex experimental situations in which both nonbonded ["through-space" (TS)] and more "classical" bonding ("through-bond") spin-spin coupling pathways are potentially involved. The computational approaches we propose allow the visualization and discussion of individual transmission pathways and estimation of their relative weight from numerical contributions to the spin-spin coupling constant J-value. The first approach is based on the analysis of contributions limited to occupied molecular orbitals [focused on occupied molecular orbitals (FOMO)]. The second approach encompasses the consideration of both occupied and vacant orbitals [global molecular orbital contributions (GMOC)], and, besides the contributions from individual pathways, also considers their cross contributions. Both approaches are applicable to large systems with complex interactions of nuclear magnetic moments. Herein, we have first applied the FOMO and GMOC computational approaches to simple diphosphine models and then extended the analysis to JPP and JPSe experimentally measured in a constrained selenated (diphosphino)naphthalene compound. The new computational tools contributed evidence for the importance of the single lone pair not only from phosphorus but also from selenium in TS spin-spin transmission. It evidenced and modeled for the first time the existence of spin-spin transmission pathways mixing classical covalent bonding parts with a lone pair overlap of proximate heteroatoms (P and Se).

Abstract
Aryl trifluoromethyl diazomethanes 2-R (R=Ph, OMe, CF3 ) are readily decomposed by the (o-carboranyl)diphosphine gold(I) complex 1. The resulting α-CF3 substituted carbene complexes 3-R have been characterized by multi-nuclear NMR spectroscopy as well as X-ray crystallography (for 3-Ph). The bonding situation was thoroughly assessed by computational means, showing stabilization of the electrophilic carbene center by π-donation from the aryl substituent and backdonation from Au, as enhanced by the chelating P^P ligand. Reactivity studies under stoichiometric and catalytic conditions substantiate typical carbene-type behavior for 3-Ph.

Abstract
Long-range proton-fluorine coupling constants (n JHF ) are helpful for the structure elucidation of fluorinated molecules. However, their magnitude and sign can change with the relative position of coupled nuclei and the presence of substituents. Here, trans-4-tert-butyl-2-fluorocyclohexanone was used as a model compound for the study of the transmission of 4 JHF . In this compound, the 4 JH6axF was measured to be +5.1 Hz, which is five times larger than the remaining 4 JHF in the same molecule (4 JH4F = +1.0 Hz and 4 JH6eqF = +1.0 Hz). Through a combination of experimental data, natural bond orbital (NBO) and natural J-coupling (NJC) analyses, we observed that stereoelectronic interactions involving the π system of the carbonyl group are involved in the transmission pathway for the 4 JH6axF . Interactions containing the π system as an electron acceptor (e.g., σC6H6ax → π*C═O and σCF → π*C═O ) increase the value of the 4 JH6axF , while the interaction of the π system as an electron donor (e.g., πC═O → σ*CF ) decreases it. Additionally, the carbonyl group was shown not to be part of the transmission pathway of the diequatorial 4 JH6eqF coupling in cis-4-tert-butyl-2-fluorocyclohexanone, revealing that there is a crucial symmetry requirement that must be fulfilled for the π system to influence the value of the 4 JHF in these systems.

Abstract
The Si-H···Se contact in 1-mesitylselanyl-8-(dimethylsilyl)naphthalene (1), which exhibits the spatial arrangement of a δ-agostic interaction from geometric considerations, was investigated. Is this just enforced by close 1,8-proximity or is this a favorable interaction? Charge density studies are best suited to investigate the exact origin of the interaction and to quantify the properties. Hence, they are most elucidating. High-resolution X-ray diffraction data of 1 were collected, and a multipole refinement followed by a topological analysis using Bader's quantum theory of atoms in molecules was employed. The resulting bond properties were set in relation to high-level computational parameters. The comparison to Si-H···[M] agostics, hydride bonding, chalcogen bonds, and charge-inverted hydrogen bonds qualified the Si-H···Se noncovalent interaction to be best classified as a chalcogen-hydride bond.

Abstract
The 4-anilino-6,7-ethylenedioxy-5-fluoroquinazoline scaffold is presented as a novel model system for the characterization of the weak NH⋅⋅⋅F hydrogen bonding (HB) interaction. In this scaffold, the aniline NH proton is forced into close proximity with the nearby fluorine (dH,F ∼2.0 Å, ∠∼138°), and a through-space interaction is observed by NMR spectroscopy with couplings (1h JNH,F ) of 19±1 Hz. A combination of experimental (NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography) and theoretical methods (DFT calculations) were used for the characterization of this weak interaction. In particular, the effects of conformational rigidity and steric compression on coupling were investigated. This scaffold was used for the direct comparison of fluoride with methoxy as HB acceptors, and the susceptibility of the NH⋅⋅⋅F interaction to changes in electron distribution and resonance was probed by preparing a series of molecules with different electron-donating or -withdrawing groups in the positions para to the NH and F. The results support the idea that fluorine can act as a weak HB acceptor, and the HB strength can be modulated through additive and linear electronic substituent effects.

Abstract
Fluorine atoms are known to display scalar 19F-19F couplings in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra when they are sufficiently close in space for nonbonding orbitals to overlap. We show that fluorinated noncanonical amino acids positioned in the hydrophobic core or on the surface of a protein can be linked by scalar through-space 19F-19F (TSJFF) couplings even if the 19F spins are in the time average separated by more than the van der Waals distance. Using two different aromatic amino acids featuring CF3 groups, O-trifluoromethyl-tyrosine and 4-trifluoromethyl-phenylalanine, we show that 19F-19F TOCSY experiments are sufficiently sensitive to detect TSJFF couplings between 2.5 and 5 Hz in the 19 kDa protein PpiB measured on a two-channel 400 MHz NMR spectrometer with a regular room temperature probe. A quantitative J evolution experiment enables the measurement of TSJFF coupling constants that are up to five times smaller than the 19F NMR line width. In addition, a new aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase was identified for genetic encoding of N6-(trifluoroacetyl)-l-lysine (TFA-Lys) and 19F-19F TOCSY peaks were observed between two TFA-Lys residues incorporated into the proteins AncCDT-1 and mRFP despite high solvent exposure and flexibility of the TFA-Lys side chains. With the ready availability of systems for site-specific incorporation of fluorinated amino acids into proteins by genetic encoding, 19F-19F interactions offer a straightforward way to probe the spatial proximity of selected sites without any assignments of 1H NMR resonances.

Abstract
The aug-cc-pVTZ-J basis set family is extended to include the fourth-row p-block elements Ga, Ge, As, Se, and Br. We use the established approach outlined by Sauer and coworkers (J. Chem. Phys. 115, 1324 [2001], J. Chem. Phys. 133, 054308 [2010], J. Chem. Theory Comput. 7, 4070 [2011], and J. Chem. Theory Comput. 7, 4077 [2011]) where the completely uncontracted aug-cc-pVTZ basis set is saturated with tight s-, p-, d-, and f-functions to form the aug-cc-pVTZ-Juc basis set for the tested elements. The saturation is carried out on the simplest hydrides possible for the tested elements GaH, GeH4 , AsH3 , H2 Se, and HBr until an improvement is less than 0.01% for all s-, p-, and d-functions added. f-Functions are added to an improvement less than or equal to 1.0% due to the computational expense these functions add. The saturated aug-cc-pVTZ-Juc (26s16p12d5f) is then recontracted using the molecular orbital coefficients from self-consistent field calculations on the simple hydrides to improve computational efficiency. During contraction of the basis set, we observe that the linear hydrogen bromide molecule has a slower convergence than the other tested molecules which sets a limit on the accuracy obtained. All calculations with the contracted aug-cc-pVTZ-J [17s10p7d5f] gives results that are within 1.0% of the uncontracted results at considerable computational savings.

Abstract
A series of N-benzoylanthranilamide derivatives have been synthesized with the substitution of competitive HB acceptors and investigated by NMR spectroscopy and single crystal XRD. The interesting rivalry for HB acceptance between [double bond splayed left]C[double bond, length as m-dash]O and X (F or OMe) is observed in the investigated molecules which leads to an unusual increase in the electron density at the site of one of the NH protons, reflecting in the high field resonance in the 1H NMR spectrum. The NMR experimental findings and single crystal XRD are further reinforced by the DFT studies.

Abstract
Phosphorylated metabolites are omnipresent in cells, but their analytical characterization faces several technical hurdles. Here, we detail an improved NMR workflow aimed at assigning the high-resolution subspectrum of the phospho-metabolites in a complex mixture. Combining a pure absorption J-resolved spectrum (Pell, A. J.; J. Magn. Reson. 2007, 189 (2), 293-299) with alternate on- and off-switching of the 31P coupling interaction during the t1 evolution with a pure in-phase (PIP) HSQMBC experiment (Castañar, L.; Angew. Abstract
The stabilizing neighboring effect of halo substituents on silyl cations was tested for a series of peri‐halo substituted acenaphthyl‐based silyl cations 3. The chloro‐ (3 b), bromo‐ (3 c), and iodo‐ (3 d) stabilized cations were synthesized by the Corey protocol. Structural and NMR spectroscopic investigations for cations 3 b–d supported by the results of density functional calculations, which indicate their halonium ion nature. According to the fluorobenzonitrile (FBN) method, the silyl Lewis acidity decreases along the series of halonium ions 3, the fluoronium ion 3 a being a very strong and the iodonium ion 3 d a moderate Lewis acid. Halonium ions 3 b and 3 c react with starting silanes in a substituent redistribution reaction and form siliconium ions 4 b and 4 c. The structure of siliconium borate 4 c2[B12Br12] reveals the trigonal bipyramidal coordination environment of the silicon atom with the two bromo substituents in the apical positions.

Abstract
Four lithium phosphine borohydride compounds featuring phenyl and naphthyl linkers have been synthesized. In-depth NMR analysis affords evidence for non-bonded through space P-B coupling. Reactivity towards CO2 leads to LiH transfer and to the quantitative formation of the corresponding ambiphilic phosphine-borane products.

Abstract
Insertion of a tricoordinate phosphorus ligand into late metal-carbon bonds is reported. Metalation of a P^P-chelating ligand (L1), composed of a nontrigonal phosphorous (i.e., P(III)) triamide moiety, P(N(o-N(Ar)C6H4)2, tethered by a phenylene linker to a -PiPr2 anchor, with group 10 complexes L2M(Me)Cl (M = Ni, Pd) results in insertion of the nontrigonal phosphorus site into the metal-methyl bond. The stable methylmetallophosphorane compounds thus formed are characterized spectroscopically and crystallographically. Metalation of L1 with (cod)PtII(Me)(Cl) does not lead to a metallophosphorane but rather to the standard bisphosphine chelate (κ2-L1)Pt(Me)(Cl). These divergent reactivities within group 10 are rationalized by reference to periodic variation in M-C bond enthalpies.

Abstract
Cyclic silylated chalconium borates 13[B(C6 F5 )4 ] and 14[B(C6 F5 )4 ] with peri-acenaphthyl and peri-naphthyl skeletons were synthesized from unsymmetrically substituted silanes 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 using the standard Corey protocol (Chalcogen Ch=O, S, Se, Te). The configuration at the chalcogen atom is trigonal pyramidal for Ch=S, Se, Te, leading to the formation of cis- and trans-isomers in the case of phenylmethylsilyl cations. With the bulkier tert-butyl group at silicon, the configuration at the chalcogen atoms is predetermined to give almost exclusively the trans-configurated cyclic silylchalconium ions. The barriers for the inversion of the configuration at the sulfur atoms of sulfonium ions 13 c and 14 a are substantial (72-74 kJ mol-1 ) as shown by variable temperature NMR spectroscopy. The neighboring group effect of the thiophenyl substituent is sufficiently strong to preserve chiral information at the silicon atom at low temperatures.

Abstract
State-of-the-art nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) selective experiments are capable of directly analyzing crude reaction mixtures. A new experiment named HD-HAPPY-FESTA yields ultrahigh-resolution total correlation subspectra, which are suitable for sign-sensitive determination of heteronuclear couplings, as demonstrated here by measuring the sign and magnitude for proton-fluorine couplings (JHF) from major and minor isomer products of a two-step reaction without any purification. Proton-fluorine couplings ranging from 51.5 to -2.6 Hz could be measured using HD-HAPPY-FESTA, with the smallest measured magnitude of 0.8 Hz. Experimental JHF values were used to identify the two fluoroketone intermediates and the four fluoroalcohol products. Results were rationalized and compared with the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Experimental data were further compared with the couplings reported in the literature, where pure samples were analyzed.

Abstract
The solution-state 13C NMR spectrum of the endofullerene 3He@C60 displays a doublet structure due to a J-coupling of magnitude 77.5 ± 0.2 mHz at 340 K between the 3He nucleus and a 13C nucleus of the enclosing carbon surface. The J-coupling increases in magnitude with increasing temperature. Quantum chemistry calculations successfully predict the approximate magnitude of the coupling. This observation shows that the mutual proximity of molecular or atomic species is sufficient to induce a finite scalar nuclear spin-spin coupling, providing that translational motion is restricted by confinement. The phenomenon may have applications to the study of surface interactions and to mechanically bound species.

Abstract
Modern solid-state NMR techniques offer a wide range of opportunities for the structural characterization of frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs), their aggregates, and the products of cooperative addition reactions at their two Lewis centers. This information is extremely valuable for materials that elude structural characterization by X-ray diffraction because of their nanocrystalline or amorphous character, (pseudo-)polymorphism, or other types of disordering phenomena inherent in the solid state. Aside from simple chemical shift measurements using single-pulse or cross-polarization/magic-angle spinning NMR detection techniques, the availability of advanced multidimensional and double-resonance NMR methods greatly deepened the informational content of these experiments. In particular, methods quantifying the magnetic dipole-dipole interaction strengths and indirect spin-spin interactions prove useful for the measurement of intermolecular association, connectivity, assessment of FLP-ligand distributions, and the stereochemistry of adducts. The present review illustrates several important solid-state NMR methods with some insightful applications to open questions in FLP chemistry, with a particular focus on supramolecular associates.

Abstract
A tandem acetylene-activated SNAr-anionic cyclization strategy is presented for the synthesis of chalcogen-containing hetero[5]helicenes. Oxa-, thia-, and selena[5]helicenes are accessed from common ortho-fluoro-ethynylarene precursors, allowing the heteroatoms to be installed at the 1-position or 1- and 12-positions of the hetero[5]helicene inner core surface.

Abstract
A simple to use nuclear magnetic resonance analysis method has been tested on complex 1 H, 19 F, and 13 C multiplets. This open-source line-shape analysis method analysis of total lineshape (ANATOLIA)1 provides some significant advantages over traditional assign-iterate methods of NMR spectral analysis by avoiding false minima and progressing optimisation to the global minimum. The target molecules are 1-perfluorotol-4-yl-2-perfluorotol-4-yl-oxymethyl-1H-benzimidazole (molecule-I) and 1-tetrafluoropyrid-4-yl-2-tetrafluoropyrid-4-yl-thio-1H-benzimidazole (molecule-II) which were produced as part of a family of fluorinated drug scaffolds prepared for anticancer and antiparasitic screening. Spectra display significant second-order effects with 1 H Δδ = 3.68 and 4.67 Hz for the aromatic hydrogen "triplets", with 19 F 4 JAA' , 4 JBB' , 4 JXX' , and 4 JYY' coupling constants range from +4.8 to -14.0 Hz and for 13 C-isotopomers 19 F Δδ of up to 111.56 Hz. A spin-system of six coupling nuclei (Ha Hb Hc Hd FY FY' ) was analysed in 12 s, a spin-system of nine coupling fluorine nuclei (AA'BB'CCC-YY') was analysed within 2 min, and 10 coupling nuclei (XX'YY'ZZZ-BB'-Hd ) was optimised in 6 min using a laptop computer. ANATOLIA was also robust enough to be able to yield accurate spectral values from inaccurate input values. In both compounds, a fluorine-fluorine coupling constant was identified between the two fluoro-aromatic rings (FBB' and FYY' ) of +4.05 and +4.67 Hz and attributed to a through-space interaction. Ab initio structure optimisations and coupling constant calculations provided useful input data for spectral analysis. A modern 19 F nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of perfluorotoluene (octafluorotoluene) and analysis from 1975 was used as a test data set to assess ANATOLIA.

Abstract
Weak hydrogen bonds are increasingly hypothesized to play key roles in a wide range of chemistry from catalysis to gelation to polymer structure. Here, 15N/13C spin-echo magic-angle spinning (MAS) solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments are applied to "view" intermolecular CH···N hydrogen bonding in two selectively labeled organic compounds, 4-[15N] cyano-4'-[13C2] ethynylbiphenyl (1) and [15N3,13C6]-2,4,6-triethynyl-1,3,5-triazine (2). The synthesis of 2-15N3,13C6 is reported here for the first time via a multistep procedure, where the key element is the reaction of [15N3]-2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (5) with [13C2]-[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]zinc chloride (8) to afford its immediate precursor [15N3,13C6]-2,4,6-tris[(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]-1,3,5-triazine (9). Experimentally determined hydrogen-bond-mediated 2hJCN couplings (4.7 ± 0.4 Hz (1) and 4.1 ± 0.3 Hz (2)) are compared with density functional theory (DFT) gauge-including projector augmented wave (GIPAW) calculations, whereby species-independent coupling values 2hKCN (29.0 × 1019 kg m-2 s-2 A-2 (1) and 27.9 × 1019 kg m-2 s-2 A-2 (2)) quantitatively demonstrate the J couplings for these "weak" CH···N hydrogen bonds to be of a similar magnitude to those for conventionally observed NH···O hydrogen-bonding interactions in uracil (2hKNO: 28.1 and 36.8 × 1019 kg m-2 s-2 A-2). Moreover, the GIPAW calculations show a clear correlation between increasing 2hJCN (and 3hJCN) coupling and reducing C(H)···N and H···N hydrogen-bonding distances, with the Fermi contact term accounting for at least 98% of the isotropic 2hJCN coupling.

Abstract
A new NMR-based Lewis acidity scale is suggested and its application is demonstrated for a family of silyl Lewis acids. The reaction of p-fluorobenzonitrile (FBN) with silyl cations that are internally stabilized by interaction with a remote chalcogenyl or halogen donor yields silylated nitrilium ions with the silicon atom in a trigonal bipyramidal coordination environment. The 19 F NMR chemical shifts and the 1 J(CF) coupling constants of these nitrilium ions vary in a predictable manner with the donor capability of the stabilizing group. The spectroscopic parameters are suitable probes for scaling the acidity of Lewis acids. These new probes allow for the discrimination between very similar Lewis acids, which is not possible with conventional NMR tests, such as the well-established Gutmann-Beckett method.
