Abstract
BACKGROUND Our study aimed to investigate the prevalence and demographic characteristics of immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated hypophysitis (ICI-hypophysitis) using data from the FAERS, and the risk factors of prognosis were explored. METHODS In this retrospective study, all cases of newly-diagnosed hypophysitis associated with FDA approved ICIs from 1st January 2007 to 31st December 2022 were accumulated using FAERS. Demographic data including age, sex, body weight, the prognosis of cases, and other co-occurred endocrinopathies induced by ICIs were analyzed and compared between different subgroups of immunotherapy. RESULTS The reporting frequency of ICI-hypophysitis was 1.46% (2343/160089). Patients on the combination therapy had higher risk of hypophysitis reporting, followed by anti-CTLA-4 agent compared with other monotherapies (p < 0.001). Male subjects displayed higher reporting risk of ICI-hypophysitis (p = 0.015). Patients on anti-PD-1 therapy or the combination therapy showed higher occurrence rate of type 1 diabetes (anti-PD-1 vs. anti-PD-L1 vs. anti-CTLA-4 vs. combination therapy, 4.2% vs. 0.7% vs. 0.3% vs. 8.4%, p < 0.001). The occurrence rate of new-onset thyroid diseases in patients receiving combination therapy was higher than anti-PD-1 monotherapy (12.3% vs. 8.4%, p = 0.010). Elder age, lung cancer, and renal cancer emerged to be positively associated with severe clinical outcomes [>65 years, OR 1.042, 95%CI (1.022-1.063), p < 0.001; lung cancer, OR 1.400, 95%CI (1.019-1.923), p = 0.038; renal cancer, OR 1.667, 95%CI (1.153-2.412), p = 0.007]. Anti-CTLA-4 monotherapy was discovered to be a protective factor of severe outcomes [OR 0.433, 95%CI (0.335-0.558), p < 0.001]. Female sex and co-occurrence of ICI-related diabetes exhibited lower risk of death [female, OR 0.571, 95%CI (0.361-0.903), p = 0.017; diabetes, OR 0.090, 95%CI (0.016-0.524), p = 0.007]. CONCLUSIONS ICI-induced hypophysitis is male-predominant irAE, most commonly seen in patients on anti-CTLA-4 mono- or combination therapy. Awareness among clinicians is critical when patients with elder age, lung or renal cancer develop hypophysitis, which indicates poor clinical outcomes. Female sex, anti-CTLA-4 monotherapy and co-occurrence of ICI-related diabetes are protective risk factors for poor prognosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The effect of solamargine on lung adenocarcinoma and its effect on STAT1 signaling pathway mediated immune escape were studied through network pharmacology and in vitro and in vivo experiments. METHODS The solamargine targets were screened using the TCMSP and the LUAD targets were screened using the GeneCard, OMIM, PharmGkb, TTD and DrugBank databases. PPI network analysis and target prediction were performed using GO and KEGG. Colony formation assay, EDU staining, wound healing, transwell assay, Hoechst and flow cytometry were used to detect the effects of solamargine on the proliferation, migration and apoptosis of LUAD. Western blotting (WB) and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were used to detect P-STAT1 and PD-L1 expression. And immunofluorescence was used to detect P-STAT1 expression. In vivo experiments, C57BL/6 mice were divided into control group, low concentration group, high concentration group, positive control group and combination group. Every other day, following seven consecutive doses, the size of the tumor was assessed. Finally, the expressions of P-STAT1, STAT1, PD-L1 and apoptosis index proteins were detected by WB. RESULTS The anti-LUAD effect of solamargine was found by wound healing, colony formation assay, transwell assay, hoechst and EdU staining. The results of network pharmacological analysis showed that solamargine could suppress STAT1 expression level. Further enrichment assay of STAT1 showed that STAT1 was associated with immune-related pathways. In addition, molecular signal analysis by WB and RT-qPCR indicated that solamargine could reduce the expression levels of P-STAT1 and PD-L1 in a concentration-dependent manner. According to the results of in vivo assays, combination of solamargine and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) durvalumab could significantly inhibit the growth of Lewis transplanted tumors in C57BL/6 mice, and no toxic side effect was recoded. CONCLUSION These results indicated that solamargine could inhibit the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of LUAD. It also could reduce the expression level of P-STAT1 protein and inhibit the expression level of PD-L1. At the same time, the combination with the ICIs can better block the expression of PD-L1 in cells, thereby inhibiting the immune escape pathway of tumor cells and achieving anti-tumor effects. This study proposed a novel combined therapeutic approach, involving the inhibition of STAT1 by solamargine in conjunction with ICIs.

Abstract
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) exhibit improved optical and spectral properties compared to bulk materials, making them suitable for the detection of DNA, RNA, antigens, and antibodies. Here, we describe a simple, selective, and rapid non-cross linking detection assay, using approx. 35 nm spherical Au nanoprobes, for a common mutation occurring in exon 19 of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), associated with non-small-cell lung cancer cells. AuNPs were synthesized based on the seed-mediated growth method and functionalized with a specific 16 bp thiolated oligonucleotide using a pH-assisted method. Both AuNPs and Au nanoprobes proved to be highly stable and monodisperse through ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and electrophoretic light scattering (ELS). Our results indicate a detection limit of 1.5 µg mL-1 using a 0.15 nmol dm-3 Au nanoprobe concentration. In conclusion, this work presents an effective possibility for a straightforward, fast, and inexpensive alternative for the detection of DNA sequences related to lung cancer, leading to a potential platform for early diagnosis of lung cancer patients.

Abstract
Importance Despite the recommendations of lung cancer screening guidelines and the evidence supporting the effectiveness of population-based lung screening, a common barrier to effective lung cancer screening is that the participation rates of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening among individuals with the highest risk are not large. There are limited data from clinical practice regarding whether opportunistic LDCT screening is associated with reduced lung-cancer mortality. Objective To evaluate whether opportunistic LDCT screening is associated with improved prognosis among adults with lung cancer in mainland China. Design, Setting, and Participants This cohort study included patients diagnosed with lung cancer at Weihai Municipal Hospital Healthcare Group, Weihai City, China, from 2016 to 2021. Data were analyzed from January 2022 to February 2023. Exposures Data collected included demographic indicators, tumor characteristics, comorbidities, blood indexes, and treatment information. Patients were classified into screened and nonscreened groups on the basis of whether or not their lung cancer diagnosis occurred through opportunistic screening. Main Outcomes and Measures Follow-up outcome indicators included lung cancer-specific mortality and all-cause mortality. Propensity score matching (PSM) was adopted to account for potential imbalanced factors between groups. The associations between LDCT screening and outcomes were analyzed using Cox regression models based on the matched data. Propensity score regression adjustment and inverse probability treatment weighting were used for sensitivity analysis. Results A total of 5234 patients (mean [SD] baseline age, 61.8 [9.8] years; 2518 [48.1%] female) with complete opportunistic screening information were included in the analytical sample, with 2251 patients (42.91%) receiving their lung cancer diagnosis through opportunistic screening. After 1:1 PSM, 2788 patients (1394 in each group) were finally included. The baseline characteristics of the matched patients were balanced between groups. Opportunistic screening with LDCT was associated with a 49% lower risk of lung cancer death (HR, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.42-0.62) and 46% lower risk of all-cause death (HR, 0.54; 95% CI, 0.45-0.64). Conclusions and Relevance In this cohort study of patients with lung cancer, opportunistic lung cancer screening with LDCT was associated with lower lung cancer mortality and all-cause mortality. These findings suggest that opportunistic screening is an important supplement to population screening to improve prognosis of adults with lung cancer.

Abstract
Objective Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in China. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of non-therapeutic and therapeutic factors of patients with lung cancer on survival rate. Methods In this retrospective study, a total of 458 patients diagnosed as lung cancer at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Medical University from September 2008 to October 2013 were enrolled. The COX proportional hazards model was used to analyze the possible factors affecting the survival of patients. Model variables included age, sex, family history, smoking, tumor location, pathological type, stage, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, operation, and targeted therapy. Results The median survival time (MST) was 32.0 months (95% CI: 29.0-34.0 months), while the 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates were 70.74%, 36.90%, and 30.13%, respectively. The univariate analysis showed that stage, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and operation significantly affected the median survival time of patients. Multivariate cox regression analysis suggested that sex (female vs male, 2.096, 95% CI: 1.606-2.736), stage (stage I vs IV, 0.111, 95% CI: 0.039-0.314; stage II vs IV, 0.218, 95%CI: 0.089-0.535), chemotherapy (no vs yes, 0.469, 95% CI: 0.297-0.742), and operation (no vs yes, 2.667, 95% CI: 1.174-6.055) were independently associated with the survival of patients with lung cancer. Conclusion Our study showed that male, early stage, operation were protective factors for the survival of patients, while female, advanced stage, chemotherapy were risk factors for the survival of patients. Larger studies are required to address the usefulness of these prognostic factors in defining the management of patients with lung cancer.

Abstract
Lung cancer is the most frequent cause of cancer-related death around the world. With the recent introduction of low-dose lung computed tomography for lung cancer screening, there has been an increasing number of smoking- and non-smoking-related lung cancer cases worldwide that are manifesting with subsolid nodules, especially in Asian populations. However, the pros and cons of lung cancer screening also follow the implementation of lung cancer screening programs. Here, we review the literature related to radiomics for early lung cancer diagnosis. There are four main radiomics applications: the classification of lung nodules as being malignant/benign; determining the degree of invasiveness of the lung adenocarcinoma; histopathologic subtyping; and prognostication in lung cancer prediction models. In conclusion, radiomics offers great potential to improve diagnosis and personalized risk stratification in early lung cancer diagnosis through patient–doctor cooperation and shared decision making.

Purpose To investigate the effects of ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral block combined with general anaesthesia or general anaesthesia alone for thoracoscopic lung adenocarcinoma surgery, and to provide new thoughts for improving the clinical outcomes. Methods This was a retrospective study. Data were retrieved for 195 patients with lung adenocarcinoma undergoing elective radical lobectomy via video-assisted thoracoscopy between January 2018 and August 2019 in The Second Hospital of Shandong University, including 86 patients who received thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) combined with general anaesthesia (group TG), and 109 patients who received general anaesthesia alone (group GA). All patients were given self-controlled intravenous analgesia pump for 48 h after surgery. The primary outcome was the recurrence-free survival 2 years postoperatively (the time between surgery and the earliest date of recurrence, metastasis or lung cancer-cause death). The secondary outcomes included the average numeric rating scale (NRS) scores within 48 h postoperatively, the first time of postoperative ambulation, duration of chest tube drainage, length of postoperative hospitalization, perioperative opioid consumption and the postoperative side effects. Results There were no statistical differences in the recurrence-free survival 2 years postoperatively between groups (Multivariate hazard ratio 0.706, 95% CI 0.126–3.941, P=0.691). The average NRS scores within 48 h postoperatively were significantly lower in group TG (P<0.05). The first time of postoperative ambulation, duration of chest tube drainage, and length of postoperative hospitalization in group TG were significantly reduced (P<0.05). Opioid consumption was significantly decreased in group TG (P<0.01). Finally, the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) was significantly lower in group TG (P<0.05). Conclusion TPVB for thoracoscopic lung adenocarcinoma surgery did not improve the recurrence-free survival 2 years postoperatively compared with general anaesthesia alone, but it significantly enhanced the postoperative analgesia effect, reduced opioid consumption as well as side effects, and accelerated postoperative early recovery. Abstract
INTRODUCTION Patients with stage III NSCLC represent a very heterogenous group that requires different treatment strategies, especially in patients with N2 (2 nearby lymph nodes having cancer)-positive NSCLC and unresectable EGFR-mutant NSCLC. This real-world study may provide more insights into treatment decisions. METHODS The KINDLE study is a large, multinational real-world observational study that assessed different treatment strategies in patients with stage III NSCLC. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated and compared using Kaplan-Meier and log-rank testing. Patients were classified on the basis of disease stage, resectability, and treatment modalities. RESULTS The Taiwan subgroup enrolled 200 patients. The median PFS and OS values were similar among patients with stage IIIA and stage IIIB disease, but were significantly better in patients who were deemed as a resectable disease than in those who were deemed as an unresectable disease. In patients with N2-positive NSCLC, patients who underwent surgery had better PFS, but not OS, than patients administered with chemoradiotherapy (CRT) (PFS 13.4 vs. 7.3 mo, hazard ratio [HR] = 0.18, p < 0.001; OS 32.4 vs. 22.0 mo, HR = 0.64, p = 0.215). Among patients with unresectable EGFR-mutant NSCLC, OS was significantly poorer after upfront EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) than after upfront CRT with sequential EGFR-TKI (27.4 vs. 49.0 mo, HR = 3.09, p = 0.03). CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that surgery could be added as part of therapy for patients with stage III N2-positive NSCLC. Moreover, upfront CRT with sequential EGFR-TKI seems to be appropriate for stage III unresectable EGFR-mutant NSCLC. Further randomized studies are needed to validate these results.

Abstract
Background Although low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening is known to be effective for the detection of lung cancers localized in peripheral lung regions at a curable stage, limited data is available regarding the characteristics and outcomes of central lung cancers diagnosed in a screening cohort. This study aimed to determine whether LDCT screening could effectively detect central lung cancers at an early stage and offer survival benefits. Methods We analyzed 52,615 adults who underwent lung cancer screening with LDCT between May 2003 and Dec 2019 at a tertiary center in South Korea. Characteristics and outcomes of those diagnosed with lung cancer, stratified by screen-detection status and cancer location, were evaluated. Results A total of 352 individuals (281 screen-detected, 71 non-screen-detected) were diagnosed with lung cancer. Compared to screen-detected cancers, non-screen-detected cancers tended to be centrally-located (11.4% vs. 64.8%, P<0.001). Most non-screen-detected central cancers (89.1%) had a negative result on prior LDCT screening. Multivariable regression analyses revealed that for peripheral cancers, screen-detection was associated with a significantly lower probability of diagnosis at an advanced stage [III/IV, odds ratio (OR) =0.15, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.05-0.45] and mortality [hazard ratio (HR) =0.33, 95% CI: 0.13-0.84]; however, the association was insignificant for central cancers. For screen-detected cancers, central location, compared to peripheral location, was significantly associated with a higher risk of diagnosis at an advanced stage (OR =20.83, 95% CI: 6.67-64.98) and mortality (HR =4.98, 95% CI: 2.26-10.97). Conclusions Unlike for peripheral cancers, LDCT screening did not demonstrate an improvement in outcomes of central lung cancers, indicating an important limitation of LDCT screening and the need for developing novel modalities to screen and treat central lung cancer.

Abstract
This was a retrospective hospital-based cohort study of participants diagnosed with lung cancer in the lung cancer register database, and our goal was to evaluate the impact of smoking and screening status on lung cancer characteristics and clinical outcomes. According to the hospital-based lung cancer register database, a total of 2883 lung cancers were diagnosed in 2883 patients between January 2007 and September 2017, which were divided into four groups according to smoking and screening status. A comparison was performed in terms of clinical characteristics and outcomes of lung cancer between the four groups. For non-smokers, age, gender, screened status, tumor size, targeted therapy, and curative surgery were independent prognostic factors of overall survival for lung cancer subjects. However, screened status and gender were not significant prognostic factors for lung cancer survival in smokers with lung cancer. For the non-smoker group, about 4.9% of lung cancer subjects (N = 81) were detected by screening. However, only 0.97% of lung cancer subjects (N = 12) were detected by screening in smokers. This could be attributed to smokers' negative attitudes and low socioeconomic status preventing LDCT lung cancer screening. In summary, our real-world data suggest that effectively encouraging smokers to be more willing to participate in lung cancer screening programs with screening allowance and educational training in the future is an important issue.

Abstract
Redox status disturbances are known during carcinogenesis and may have influence on patients' survival. However, the prediction of mortality in lung cancer patients based on serum total SOD activity, and concentrations of its isoforms, has not been studied to date. This prospective cohort study has following aims: (1) to evaluate the disturbances in serum SOD activity and SOD1/2 concentrations; (2) to assess the implications of these alterations with regard to biochemical variables and clinical data, and (3) to investigate the association between serum SOD activity, SOD1/2 concentrations, and all-cause mortality in lung cancer patients. Serum total SOD activity and SOD1, SOD2, albumin, CRP, and ceruloplasmin concentrations were determined in lung cancer patients (n = 190) and control subjects (n = 52). Additionally, patients were characterized in terms of biochemical, clinical, and sociodemographic data. Multiple Cox regression models were used to estimate the association between all-cause death and SOD-related parameters. All-cause mortality in lung cancer was positively associated with serum SOD1 and SOD2 concentrations. Clinical stage III and IV disease was the strongest predictor. The utility of the evaluated parameters in predicting overall survival was demonstrated only for SOD1. Serum SOD1 and SOD2 concentrations were shown to positively affect all-cause mortality in lung cancer patients, but SOD1 seems to be a better predictor than SOD2.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the time trend variation in the surgical volume and prognostic outcome of patients with lung cancer after the gradual prolonged implementation of a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) lung cancer screening program.Using the hospital-based cancer registry data on number of patients with lung cancer and deaths from 2008 to 2017, we conducted a retrospective study using a hospital-based cohort to investigate the relationship between changes in lung cancer surgical volume, the proportion of lung-sparing surgery, and prolonged prognostic outcomes after the gradual implementation of the LDCT lung cancer screening program in recent years.From 2008 to 2017, 3251 patients were diagnosed with lung cancer according to the hospital-based cancer registry. The 5-year mortality rate decreased gradually from 83.54% to 69.44% between 2008 and 2017. The volume of total lung cancer surgical procedures and proportion of lung-sparing surgery performed gradually increased significantly from 2008 to 2017, especially from 2014 to 2017 after implementation of a large volume of LDCT lung cancer screening examinations. In conclusion, our real-world data suggest that there will be an increase in cases of operable early-stage lung cancers, which in turn will increase the surgical volume and proportion of lung-sparing surgery, after the gradual implementation of the LDCT lung cancer screening program in recent years. These findings suggest the importance of a successful national policy regarding LDCT screening programs, regulation of shortage of thoracic surgeons, thoracic radiologist workforce training positions, and education programs.

Non‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 80% of lung cancer cases. TBC1D23, a member of the TBC/RABGAP family, is widely expressed in human tissues; however, its role in NSCLC is currently unknown. Immunohistochemical analysis was conducted on 173 paraffin‐embedded lung tissue sections from patients with NSCLC from 2014 to 2018 at the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. MTT, colony formation assay, cell cycle assay, scratch assay, transwell assay, Western blotting and real‐time PCR were employed on multiple NSCLC cell lines modified to knock down or overexpress TBC1D23/RAB11A. Immunoprecipitation, immunoprecipitation‐mass spectrometry, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry were performed to explore the interaction between TBC1D23 and RAB11A and TBC1D23 involvement in the interaction between RAB11A and β1 integrin in the para‐nucleus. TBC1D23 was correlated with tumour size, differentiation degree, metastasis, TNM stage and poor prognosis. TBC1D23 was involved in the interaction between RAB11A and β1 integrin in the para‐nucleus, thus activating the β1 integrin/FAK/ERK signalling pathway to promote NSCLC. Furthermore, TBC1D23 promoted NSCLC progression by inducing cell proliferation, migration and invasion. This study indicated the relationship between TBC1D23 expression and the adverse clinicopathological characteristics of patients with NSCLC, suggesting that TBC1D23 may be an important target for NSCLC treatment.

Abstract
This retrospective study investigated the effect of ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency (UGPRF) on intercostal neuralgia (ICN) after lung cancer surgery (LCS).This retrospective observational study analyzed the outcome data of UGPRF on ICN in 80 patients with LCS. All those patients were allocated into a treatment group (n = 40) and a control group (n = 40). All patient data were collected between January 2018 and November 2019. The primary outcome was pain intensity (measured by numerical rating scale, NRS). The secondary outcomes were sleep quality (measured by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, PSQI), anesthetic consumption, and treatment-related adverse events.After treatment, patients in the treatment group showed better outcomes in NRS (P < .01), PSQI (P < .01), and anesthetic consumption (P < .01), than patients in the control group. No treatment-related adverse events were documented in both groups in this study.The results of this study found that UGPRF may benefit patients for pain relief of ICN after LCS.

Abstract
This study aims to predict the histological invasiveness of pulmonary adenocarcinoma spectrum manifesting with subsolid nodules ≦ 3 cm using the preoperative CT-based radiomic approach. A total of 186 patients with 203 SSNs confirmed with surgically pathologic proof were retrospectively reviewed from February 2016 to March 2020 for training cohort modeling. The validation cohort included 50 subjects with 57 SSNs confirmed with surgically pathologic proof from April 2020 to August 2020. CT-based radiomic features were extracted using an open-source software with 3D nodular volume segmentation manually. The association between CT-based conventional features/selected radiomic features and histological invasiveness of pulmonary adenocarcinoma status were analyzed. Diagnostic models were built using conventional CT features, selected radiomic CT features and experienced radiologists. In addition, we compared diagnostic performance between radiomic CT feature, conventional CT features and experienced radiologists. In the training cohort of 203 SSNs, there were 106 invasive lesions and 97 pre-invasive lesions. Logistic analysis identified that a selected radiomic feature named GLCM_Entropy_log10 was the predictor for histological invasiveness of pulmonary adenocarcinoma spectrum (OR: 38.081, 95% CI 2.735–530.309, p = 0.007). The sensitivity and specificity for predicting histological invasiveness of pulmonary adenocarcinoma spectrum using the cutoff value of CT-based radiomic parameter (GLCM_Entropy_log10) were 84.8% and 79.2% respectively (area under curve, 0.878). The diagnostic model of CT-based radiomic feature was compared to those of conventional CT feature (morphologic and quantitative) and three experienced radiologists. The diagnostic performance of radiomic feature was similar to those of the quantitative CT feature (nodular size and solid component, both lung and mediastinal window) in prediction invasive pulmonary adenocarcinoma (IPA). The AUC value of CT radiomic feature was higher than those of conventional CT morphologic feature and three experienced radiologists. The c-statistic of the training cohort model was 0.878 (95% CI 0.831–0.925) and 0.923 (0.854–0.991) in the validation cohort. Calibration was good in both cohorts. The diagnostic performance of CT-based radiomic feature is not inferior to solid component (lung and mediastinal window) and nodular size for predicting invasiveness. CT-based radiomic feature and nomogram could help to differentiate IPA lesions from preinvasive lesions in the both independent training and validation cohorts. The nomogram may help clinicians with decision making in the management of subsolid nodules.

Abstract
Alterations in circulating Cu and Zn are negative predictors of survival in neoplastic patients and are known during lung cancer. However, no data on predicting mortality of lung cancer patients based on the level of these elements in the blood have been presented to date. The aims of this prospective cohort study were as follows: (i) To evaluate the disturbances in serum and whole blood Cu and Zn, (ii) to assess the relationships between serum and whole blood Cu and Zn status and clinical, sociodemographic, and nutritional data, and (iii) to investigate the association of Cu and Zn status with all-cause mortality in lung cancer. Naïve-treatment lung cancer patients (n = 167) were characterized in terms of sociodemographic, clinical, and anthropometric data and dietary intake and compared with sex-matched control subjects (n = 48). Whole blood and serum Cu and Zn status was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. Cox proportional hazards models adjusted for multiple confounders/mediators were used to estimate the association between all-cause death and Cu and Zn status. Sex, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, clinical stage, and hemoglobin, platelet, and glucose concentrations significantly differentiated Cu and Zn status. All-cause mortality in lung cancer patients was positively associated with serum Cu levels, Cu:Zn ratio, and whole blood Zn levels. However, an advanced clinical stage of disease was the strongest predictor of all-cause mortality. Circulatory status of Cu and Zn might be included in routine clinical characteristics of patients with lung cancer patients as additional prognostic variables, but only after further more detail studies.

Abstract
Simple Summary Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Patients diagnosed at early-stage (0–I) have a higher survival rate than the metastasized stages (III–IV). Thus, there is great potential to reduce mortality by diagnosing lung cancer at stage 0~I through community screening. LDCT is a promising method, but it has a high false-positive rate. Therefore, a biomarker test that can be used in combination with LDCT for lung cancer screening to reduce false-positive rates is highly awaited. The present study evaluated the applicability of 9G testTM Cancer/Lung test to detect stage 0~IV lung cancer. 9G testTM Cancer/Lung test detects stage I, stage II, stage III, and stage IV cancers with the sensitivities of 77.5%, 78.1%, 67.4%, and 33.3%, respectively, at the specificity of 97.3%. These results indicate that the 9G testTM Cancer/Lung can be used in conjunction with LDCT to screen lung cancer. Abstract A complimentary biomarker test that can be used in combination with LDCT for lung cancer screening is highly desirable to improve the diagnostic capacity of LDCT and reduce the false-positive rates. Most importantly, the stage I lung cancer detection rate can be dramatically increased by the simultaneous use of a biomarker test with LDCT. The present study was conducted to evaluate 9G testTM Cancer/Lung’s sensitivity and specificity in detecting Stage 0~IV lung cancer. The obtained results indicate that the 9G testTM Cancer/Lung can detect lung cancer with overall sensitivity and specificity of 75.0% (69.1~80.3) and 97.3% (95.0~98.8), respectively. The detection of stage I, stage II, stage III, and stage IV cancers with sensitivities of 77.5%, 78.1%, 67.4%, and 33.3%, respectively, at the specificity of 97.3% have never been reported before. The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis allowed us to determine the population-weighted AUC of 0.93 (95% CI, 0.91–0.95). These results indicate that the 9G testTM Cancer/Lung can be used in conjunction with LDCT to screen lung cancer. Furthermore, obtained results indicate that the use of 9G testTM Cancer/Lung with LDCT for lung cancer screening can increase stage I cancer detection, which is crucial to improve the currently low 5-year survival rates.

Abstract
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The Xuanwei-Fuyuan (XF) region of Yunnan, China has a high incidence of lung cancer from coal-related pollution. Effort to raise public awareness screening for lung cancer has been ongoing. We retrospectively analyzed overall survival (OS) of lung cancer patients of a tertiary cancer center in Yunnan to investigate screening and regional residential status as predictive factors. Consecutive cases of newly diagnosed lung cancer were reviewed. The lung cancer cases diagnosed by screening were more likely to be early-staged and treated by surgery than those diagnosed not by screening. In patients diagnosed not by screening, XF residential status was a significant predictor of improved OS. Frailty model detected significant heterogeneity associated with region of residence in unscreened patients. Potential biases associated with screening were examined by Monte Carlo simulations and sensitivity analyses. Focused effort in cancer screening and increased public awareness of pollution-related lung cancer in XF might have led to early diagnosis and improved OS, and increased investment in health care resources in high risk areas may have produced additional unobserved factors that underlay the association of XF residential status with improved OS in patients diagnosed not by screening.

Abstract
Introduction We aimed to assess the magnitude, temporal trends and socioeconomic disparity in the global burden of tracheal, bronchus and lung (TBL) from 1990 to 2017, using data extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases study (GBD 2017). Methods We extracted data from the GBD 2017 study. A series of comparative and descriptive analyses of the disease burden between females and males and countries with different socioeconomic development statuses (Social Demographic Index, SDI). We also analysed the temporal trends of age-standardised disability-adjusted life year rates (ASDR) of TBL cancer at the global and super-regional level by means of joinpoint regression. Finally, we also calculated Concentration Index to explore trends of between-country inequality in cancer burden from 1990 to 2017. Results During the past 27 years, the global incidence of TBL cancer cases and death cases has increased by 100% and 82.3% respectively, but the increase number was mainly influenced by population growth and ageing. After adjustment, from 1990 to 2017, the ASDR of TBL has increased by 3% and the age-standardised death rate has decreased by 7%. The global TBL cancer burden fell by 15.3%. The joinpoint analysis revealed that the overall trend of age-standardised TBL cancer burden for both females and males significantly changed twice between 1990 and 2017, and it varied across countries with different SDI values and was also different between females and males. Age-standardised TBL cancer burden was more concentrated in higher socioeconomic development countries, but the development of healthy inequality showed a downward trend in males while showing an upward trend in females. Conclusion The magnitude and temporal trends of TBL cancer burden varied across countries and sex. This study highlighted the importance of crafting health policy to adapt to local conditions to manage the global burden of TBL cancers.
