Abstract
A green process for the direct C(sp2)-H decarboxylative alkylsulfonylation of enamides under metal- and additive-free conditions is reported. This reaction employs phenyliodine(III) dicarboxylates as the alkyl radical precursors and DABCO·(SO2)2 as the sulfur dioxide surrogate. Diverse (E)-alkylsulfonyl enamides are generated in moderate to good yields with high stereoselectivity under extremely mild conditions via a radical process. A broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance are presented. Moreover, a cascade alkylsulfonylation/cyclization reaction of N-methacryloyl enamides occurs smoothly, giving rise to various alkylsulfonylated pyrrolidones.

Abstract
This study presents an effective route to access functionalizable fluorinated enamides characterized by their high regiospecificity around the allenamide. Synthetic applications of the resulting difluorocarbonyl-bearing enamide products were pursued through straightforward synthetic transformations to prepare unknown functionalized valuable halogenated O-heterocycles and C5 skeletons. Experimental mechanistic studies showed that hydrodifluoroalkylation occurs via a hidden Brønsted acid activation, thereby establishing a new electrophilic activation mode for allenamide through a conjugated iminium intermediate.

Abstract
Herein, rhodium(III)-catalyzed β-C(sp2)-H alkenylation and alkylation of enamides are presented using readily accessible allylic alcohols by switching the reaction conditions. This tunable transformation has been applied to a wide range of substrates and typically proceeded with excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity as well as with good functional group tolerance. The catalytic system offers an efficient approach for synthesizing various functionalized enamides bearing N-(2Z,4E)-butadiene and (Z)-β-C(sp2)-H alkylated enamides. In addition, mechanistic experiments suggest that Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation is not related to the critical step.

Abstract
Toward a regioselective method for the synthesis of β-halovinyl amides, we developed a transition-metal-free nucleophilic addition reaction of amides to haloalkynes. The regioselective nucleophilic addition was achieved under solvent-free conditions using phosphonates to protonate the intermediate alkylidene carbenoids, thus suppressing their decomposition. Furthermore, we demonstrate that β-halovinyl amides can serve as dual precursors of allyl halides and alkylidene carbenes to obtain functionalized indoles and pyrrolidones.

Abstract
The rate constants kH (kD) have been determined at 27 °C for H· (D·) transfer from CpCr(CO)3H(D) to the C=C bonds of various enamides. This process leads to the formation of α-amino radicals. Vinyl enamides with N-alkyl and N-phenyl substituents have proven to be good H· acceptors, with rate constants close to those of styrene and methyl methacrylate. A methyl substituent on the incipient radical site decreases kH by a factor of 4; a methyl substituent on the carbon that will receive the H· decreases kH by a factor of 380. The measured kH values indicate that these α-amino radicals can be used for the cyclization of enamides to pyrrolidines. A vanadium hydride, HV(CO)4(dppe), has proven more effective at the cyclization of enamides than Cr or Co hydrides-presumably because the weakness of the V-H bond leads to faster H· transfer. The use of the vanadium hydride is operationally simple, employs mild reaction conditions, and has a broad substrate scope. Calculations have confirmed that H· transfer is the slowest step in these cyclization reactions.

Abstract
Conjugated trienes are fascinating building blocks for the rapid construction of complex polycyclic compounds. However, limited success has been achieved due to the challenging regioselectivity control. Herein, we report an enantio- and diastereoselective process allowing to regioselectively control the functionalization of NH-triene-carbamates. Synthesis of chiral cis-3,6-dihydro-2H-1,2-oxazines is achieved by a chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed Nitroso-Diels-Alder cycloaddition involving [(1E,3E,5E)-hexa-1,3,5-trien-1-yl]carbamates. Moreover, modular access to three different regioisomers with excellent diastereoselectivities and high to excellent enantioselectivities is obtained by a careful choice of the reaction conditions. A computational study reveals that the regioselectivity is influenced by the steric demand of the substituents at the 6-position of the triene, as well as noncovalent interactions between the two cycloaddition partners. Utility of each regioisomeric cycloadduct is highlighted by a variety of synthetic transformations.

Abstract
Enamides, functional derivatives of enamines, play a significant role as synthetic targets. However, the stereoselective synthesis of these molecules has posed a longstanding challenge in organic chemistry, particularly for acyclic enamides that are less thermodynamically stable. In this study, we present a general strategy for constructing β-borylenamides by C-H borylation, which provides a versatile platform for generating the stereodefined enamides. Our approach involves the utilization of metalloid borenium cation, generated through the reaction of BBr3 and enamides in the presence of two different additives, avoiding any exogenous catalyst. Importantly, the stereoconvergent nature of this methodology allows for the use of starting materials with mixed E/Z configurations, thus highlighting the unique advantage of this chemistry. Mechanistic investigations have shed light on the pivotal roles played by the two additives, the reactive boron species, and the phenomenon of stereoconvergence.

Abstract
The radical 1,2-difunctionalization reaction of alkynes has been evolved into a versatile approach for expeditiously increasing the complexity of the common feedstock alkyne. However, intermolecular 1,2-carboamidation with general alkyl groups is an unsolved problem. Herein, we show that a coordinating activation strategy could act as an efficient tool for enabling radical 1,2-alkylamidation of alkynes. With the employment of diacyl peroxides as both alkylating reagents and internal oxidants, a large library of β-alkylated enamides is constructed in a three-component manner from readily accessible amides and alkynes. This protocol exhibits broad substrate scope with good functional group compatibility and is amenable for late-stage functionalization of natural molecules and biologically compounds.

Abstract
Methyl substitution at the double bond of N-alkenyl anilides influences both the preferred conformation and the susceptibility to acidic hydrolysis. The R1-substituted amide favors the trans conformation, whereas amides substituted at R2 or R3 favor the cis conformation. Substitution at the R1 and R3 positions increases the ratio of the trans conformer. DFT study indicated that these conformational preferences can be explained in terms of substituent-induced torsion twisting of the N-alkenyl moiety relative to the amide plane. R1 substitution enhances the susceptibility to acidic hydrolysis, whereas R2 or R3 substitution increases the stability. The effect of the double bond on the conformational effect was showcased by contrasting the preferred conformation of R1-substituted anilide (trans) and hydrogenated N-isopropyl amide (cis).

Abstract
The developed methodology describes an efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative C-H/C-H cross-coupling between acyclic enamides and heteroarenes. This cross dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction offers advantages, including excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity, good functional group compatibility, and a broad substrate scope. Mechanistically, Rh(III)-catalyzed β-C(sp2)-H activation of acyclic enamides is proposed to be the critical step.

Abstract
Alkenes and their derivatives are featured widely in a variety of natural products, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials. Significant efforts have been made toward the development of new and practical methods to access this important class of compounds by selectively activating the alkenyl C(sp2)-H bonds in recent years. In this comprehensive review, we describe the state-of-the-art strategies for the direct functionalization of alkenyl sp2 C-H and C-F bonds until June 2022. Moreover, metal-free, photoredox, and electrochemical strategies are also covered. For clarity, this review has been divided into two parts; the first part focuses on currently available alkenyl sp2 C-H functionalization methods using different alkene derivatives as the starting materials, and the second part describes the alkenyl sp2 C-F bond functionalization using easily accessible gem-difluoroalkenes as the starting material. This review includes the scope, limitations, mechanistic studies, stereoselective control (using directing groups as well as metal-migration strategies), and their applications to complex molecule synthesis where appropriate. Overall, this comprehensive review aims to document the considerable advancements, current status, and emerging work by critically summarizing the contributions of researchers working in this fascinating area and is expected to stimulate novel, innovative, and broadly applicable strategies for alkenyl sp2 C-H and C-F bond functionalizations in the coming years.

Abstract
Enamide and enecarbamate derivatives containing a nucleophilic center at the β-position from their nitrogen atom as well as a latent electrophilic site at their α-position are interesting motifs in organic chemistry. This dual reactivity─analogous that of the enamines─enables difunctionalization and increased structural complexity. Furthermore, an electron-withdrawing group on nitrogen drastically increases their stability. In that respect, enamides and enecarbamates are excellent partners for multicomponent transformations, and our research primarily focuses on these compounds in particular.Difunctionalization generally occurs through the nucleophilic addition of the enecarbamate on an electrophile to form iminium, which can subsequently react with a nucleophilic species. Although potent, such an approach is highly challenging due to the low stability of the intermediate iminium, leading to undesired hydrolysis or oligomerization. Epimerization, competitivity, and compatibility issues between the reaction partners are additional hindrances to developing these methodologies. To overcome these limitations, we described many complementary strategies. To control the enantioselectivity of these transformations, chiral phosphoric acids were found to be particularly well-suited to activate multiple reactants due to the formation of a hydrogen bonds network, allowing for an organized transition state in a chiral pocket. Interestingly, when deprotonated as phosphates, they can also play the role of ligands for Lewis acidic metals. To avoid iminium oligomerization, we successfully used stabilized α-arylated enamides. However, this approach was restricted to a simple nucleophilic addition at the β-position. To achieve the difunctionalizations of α-unsubstituted derivatives, we explored reversibly linked nucleophile and electrophile to address their compatibility problem. Alternatively, we devised a sequential methodology for resolving the stability issue of the N-acyl iminium based on its intermediate trapping using a temporary nucleophile (alcohol or thiol). Interestingly, the trapping agent could further be displaced by the desired final α-substituent under Lewis acidic or photocatalytic activation. This led us to design new chiral and bifunctional phosphoric acid catalysts bearing chromophores to merge asymmetric organocatalysis and photochemistry. These photocatalysis studies incited us to focus on radical processes to manage original functionalizations that would not be feasible otherwise. β-Alkylation and β-trifluoromethylation of enecarbamates via visible-light-promoted atom transfer radical additions were successfully performed. As β-allylations remained unattainable with the precedent methods, we eventually turned our attention to cerium(IV)-mediated oxidative single electron transfers. It allowed for singly occupied molecular orbital activation of these substrates to elicit their umpolung reactivity. Thus, the functionalization of enecarbamate derivatives appears as a valid synthetic strategy for obtaining important building blocks for agrochemical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, including diamines, haloamines, aminotryptamines, and less accessible trifluoromethylated or allylic compounds.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed functionalization was presently performed on two building blocks: 4-oxazolin-2-ones and 4-methylene-2-oxazolidinones. Direct Heck arylation of 4-oxazolin-2-ones led to a series of 5-aryl-4-oxazolin-2-ones, including analogues with N-chiral auxiliary, in an almost quantitative yield. The Pd(II)-catalyzed homocoupling reaction of 4-oxazolin-2-ones provided novel heterocyclic across-ring dienes. Meanwhile, the intramolecular cross-coupling of N-aryl-4-methylene-2-oxazolidinones furnished a series of oxazolo[3,4-a]indol-3-ones. Further functionalization of 4-methylene-2-oxazolidinones afforded substituted indoles and heterocyclic-fused indoles with aryl, bromo, carbinol, formyl, and vinyl groups. A computational study was carried out to account for the behavior of the formylated derivatives. The currently developed methodology was applied to a new formal total synthesis of ellipticine.

Abstract
Different Lewis acid promotor-steered highly regioselective phosphorylation of tertiary enamides with diverse H-phosphonates or H-phosphine oxides was developed. Under the catalysis of iron salt, the phosphonyl group was introduced into the α-position of tertiary enamides, affording various α-phosphorylated amides in high efficiency. On the other hand, the β-phosphorylated tertiary enamides were efficiently obtained as the products in the presence of manganese(III) acetylacetonate.

Abstract
A concise manganese(III)-promoted stereoselective β-phosphorylation of acyclic tertiary enamides and diverse H-phosphine oxides was achieved. This reaction proceeds with absolute E-selectivity in contrast to Z-selectivity obtained in other previous works and affords various E-selective β-phosphorylated tertiary enamides in high efficiency. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of E-selective β-phosphorylation of tertiary enamides through C-H functionalization. In addition, the method features broad substrate scope, good functional group compatibility and efficient scale-up.

Abstract
An efficient and general base-promoted reaction of 1,1-dichloroalkenes with secondary sulfonamides and amides for the synthesis of (Z)-β-chloro-enamides has been described. This reaction exhibits functional group tolerance under simple and mild conditions. Mechanistic study indicated that a stereoselective trans-hydroamidation of alkynyl chlorides generated in situ from 1,1-dichloroalkenes was the key step.

Abstract
Functionalized azetidines, 2,3-dihydrofurans, or the unorthodox dioxa-3-azabicyclonone-4-ene motifs are the products from transition metal-free reaction between N-oxiranylmethyl benzenesulfonamide and β-chloro-cinnamaldehyde, depending on whether one uses either NaI/K2CO3 or LiBr/K2CO3. These ring expansion reactions involve enamide (X-ray evidence) derived from N-oxiranylmethyl benzenesulfonamide and β-chloro-cinnamaldehyde as an intermediate. The N-oxiranylmethyl benzenesulfonamide itself upon heating gives readily separable and crystalline isomeric diazocanes that can be characterized by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
A cationic palladium-catalyzed arylalkenylation of ynamides is presented. The putative keteniminium arylpalladium intermediate likely dictates the regioselective carbopalladation of the ynamide to form a vinylpalladium species. The capture of this complex by the olefin yields linear conjugated β-alkenyl aminodienes (especially with trans selectivity). The transformation features a broad scope with labile functional group tolerance and makes 42 unusual molecular scaffolds with structural diversity. DFT studies provide valuable insights into the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
C(sp3)–H bond desaturation has been an attractive strategy in organic synthesis. Enamides are important structural fragments in pharmaceuticals and versatile synthons in organic synthesis. However, the dehydrogenation of amides usually occurs on the acyl side benefitting from enolate chemistry like the desaturation of ketones and esters. Herein, we demonstrate an Fe-assisted regioselective oxidative desaturation of amides, which provides an efficient approach to enamides and β-halogenated enamides. A novel and regioselective N-α,β-desaturation and dehydrogenative N-β-halogenation of amides was developed. This chemistry with high selectivity and broad substrate scope provides an efficient approach to enamides from simple amides.![]()

Abstract
The combination of a peptide catalyst and a gold catalyst is presented for enantioselective addition reactions between branched aldehydes and allenamides. The two catalysts act in concert to provide γ,δ‐enamide aldehydes bearing a fully substituted, benzylic stereogenic center – a structural motif common in many natural products and therapeutically active compounds – with good yields and enantioselectivities. The reaction tolerates a variety of alkyl and alkoxy substituted aldehydes and the products can be elaborated into several chiral building blocks bearing either 1,4‐ or 1,5‐ functional group relationships. Mechanistic studies showed that the conformational features of the peptide are important for both the catalytic efficiency and stereochemistry, while a balance of acid/base additives is key for ensuring formation of the desired product over undesired side reactions.

Abstract
The Ritter reaction, Brønsted- or Lewis acid-mediated amidation of alkene or alcohol with nitrile via a carbocation, represents a classical method for the synthesis of tertiary amides. Although analogous reactions through a vinyl cation or a species alike may offer a route to enamide, an important synthetic building block as well as a common functionality in bioactive compounds, such transformations remain largely elusive. Herein, we report a Ritter-type trans-difunctionalization of alkynes with a trivalent iodine electrophile and nitrile, which affords β-iodanyl enamides in moderate to good yields. Mediated by benziodoxole triflate (BXT), the reaction proves applicable to a variety of internal alkynes as well as to various alkyl- and arylnitriles. The benziodoxole group in the product serves as a versatile handle for further transformations, thus allowing for the preparation of various tri- and tetrasubstituted enamides that are not readily accessible by other means.

Abstract
A highly diastereoselective one-pot synthesis of the 1,3-diamino-2-alcohol unit bearing three continuous stereocenters is described. This method utilizes 2-oxyenamides as a novel type of building block for the rapid assembly of the 1,3-diamine scaffold containing an additional stereogenic oxygen functionality at the C2 position. A stereoselective preparation of the required (Z)-oxyenamides is reported as well.

Abstract
Ligand-controlled regiodivergence has been developed for catalytic semireduction of allenamides with excellent chemo- and stereocontrol. This system also provides an example of catalytic regiodivergent semireduction of allenes for the first time. The divergence of the semireduction is enabled by ligand switch with the same palladium pre-catalyst under operationally simple and mild conditions. Monodentate ligand XPhos exclusively promotes selective 1,2-semireduction to afford allylic amides, while bidentate ligand BINAP completely switched the regioselectivity to 2,3-semireduction, producing (E)-enamide derivatives.

The electrochemical sulfonylation of enamides with sodium sulfinates was developed in an undivided cell in constant current mode, leading to the formation of β-amidovinyl sulfones in moderate to good yields. The catalyst-, electrolyte- and oxidant-free protocol features good functional group tolerance and employs electric current as a green oxidant. Mechanistic insights into the reaction indicate that the reaction may proceed via a radical mechanism.

Abstract
The ligand-regulated regiodivergent hydroarylation of the distal double bond of allenamides with aryl boronic acid was achieved in the presence of palladium(II) catalysts, delivering a variety of functionalized enamide with excellent E selectivity and Markovnikov/anti-Markovnikov selectivity. Two possible coordination intermediates were proposed to be responsible for the regiodivergent hydroarylation: (1) The coordination Intermediate I, which was proposed to be formed through the coordination of MeCN, distal double bond, phenyl to palladium, led to the aryl group away from the Intermediate I, inducing excellent E selectivity and anti-Markovnikov selectivity. (2) A switch of regioselectivity to 1,2-Markovnikov hydroarylation was obtained using bidentate phosphine ligand (dppf or Xantphos). The formed coordination Intermediate II led to the N-tether away from the Intermediate II and at the trans position of aryl, resulting in excellent E selectivity and Markovnikov selectivity. Meanwhile, tentative investigation on the mechanism proved that the hydron source of this hydroarylation is more likely to be boronic acid. The transmetallation between aryl boronic acid and palladium catalyst was the initial step of this transformation.

Abstract
Bridged nitrogen bicyclic skeletons have been accessed via unprecedented site- and diastereoselective orthogonal tandem catalysis from readily accessible reactants in a step economic manner. Directed Pd-catalyzed γ-C(sp3 )-H olefination of aminocyclohexane with gem-dibromoalkenes, followed by a consecutive intramolecular Cu-catalyzed amidation of the 1-bromo-1-alkenylated product delivers the interesting normorphan skeleton. The tandem protocol can be applied on substituted aminocyclohexanes and aminoheterocycles, easily providing access to the corresponding substituted, aza- and oxa-analogues. The Cu catalyst of the Ullmann-Goldberg reaction additionally avoids off-cycle Pd catalyst scavenging by alkenylated reaction product. The picolinamide directing group stabilizes the enamine of the 7-alkylidenenormorphan, allowing further product post functionalizations. Without Cu catalyst, regio- and diastereoselective Pd-catalyzed γ-C(sp3 )-H olefination is achieved.

Abstract
A diastereodivergent and enantioselective synthesis of chiral spirocyclohexyl-indolenines with four contiguous stereogenic centers is achieved by a chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed cycloaddition of 2-susbtituted 3-indolylmethanols with 1,3-dienecarbamates. Modular access to two different diastereoisomers with high enantioselectivities was obtained by careful choice of reaction conditions. Their functional group manipulation provides an efficient access to enantioenriched spirocyclohexyl-indolines and -oxindoles. The origins of this stereocontrol have been identified using DFT calculations, which reveal an unexpected mechanism compared to our previous work dealing with enecarbamates.

Abstract
A novel, one-step N-dehydrogenation of amides to enamides is reported. This reaction employs the unlikely combination of LiHMDS and triflic anhydride, which serves as both the electrophilic activator and the oxidant, and is characterized by its simple setup and broad substrate scope. The synthetic utility of the formed enamides was readily demonstrated in a range of downstream transformations.

Abstract
An efficient protocol for the construction of structurally diverse 2-pyridone derivatives from imines and α,β-unsaturated acid chlorides in a single operation is reported. The target compounds, including coumarin-8-oxoprotoberbine analogues and lamellarin G isomers, were prepared via thermal cyclization of the in situ generated enamides followed by thermal dehydrogenation. The cyclization of enamides was achieved by the introduction of an electron-withdrawing group on the α-carbon of acid chlorides. This methodology allows quick access to polycyclic Pechmann dyes via rare double oxidative cyclizations of dienamides under mild conditions.
