Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection and plays a significant role in cervical, penile, anal, vaginal, vulvar, and oropharyngeal cancers as well as non-cancerous genital warts and genital dysplasia. In the United States, there are approximately 46,000 new HPV-related cancers a year. There is an effective vaccine to prevent over 90% of these cancers and other HPV-related diseases; however, those that are aged 18-26 have the lowest vaccine rates among eligible age groups. The objective of this study was to examine student knowledge and perceptions about HPV vaccine hesitancy in university students and their notions of barriers and facilitators for HPV vaccine uptake. We aimed to identify components for an evidence-based community-oriented educational intervention to increase HPV vaccination uptake. The researchers recorded 10 focus groups featuring students from a Northeastern United States university, aged 18-26, which were analyzed using grounded theory and inductive thematic analysis to identify recurring themes. The participants mentioned many barriers and facilitators for attaining the HPV vaccine, with health literacy being prominent for both. They demonstrated some knowledge of what HPV is and ways to avoid it. They also expressed a desire for further information and felt that the way in which this information is presented to the public is vital for increasing vaccine uptake and designing future interventions. In order to increase HPV vaccination rates in the general population and overcome barriers such as family, religious, and cultural values, it is important to emphasize the link between HPV and cancer and its preventative benefits.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection on U.S. college campuses. Although HPV vaccination is recommended through age 26, current efforts to improve vaccination rates have predominantly focused on adolescents. Consequently, vaccine uptake remains suboptimal among young adults. This represents a significant missed opportunity, as young adults face the highest risk for new HPV infections. To contextualize the factors impacting decision-making process for this vulnerable population, this study reports key themes that emerged from in-depth interviews with participants (N = 30) who had completed an online intervention study for HPV vaccination among college students. Twelve (40%) of the interviewees vaccinated after exposure to the intervention. Findings centered around empowerment among young adults as the facilitator to get the HPV vaccine: key themes emerged were (1) convenience is critical and empowering; (2) adulthood identity, marked by a heightened sense of autonomy, accountability, and responsibility for self/future self and others, is empowering; (3) equal access to health care and preventive resources is empowering, especially for participants with low socioeconomic status; and (4) accurate knowledge provided in the intervention destigmatized HPV vaccination to empower young adults to make informed decisions. Digital interventions with messages highlighting a newly gained autonomy, future-oriented self and social responsibility, inclusive and accurate knowledge, and providing navigation to improve access may enhance HPV vaccination among young adults.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Human papillomavirus virus (HPV) is highest among young adults 15-24 years old. High-risk strains are responsible for the development of cancers including cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, oropharyngeal and penile. Despite HPV school-based vaccination programmes in the UK, HPV vaccination uptake rates continue to fluctuate due to misinformation and vaccine hesitancy post COVID-19. The aim of this study is to explore perceptions of post-primary school teachers and nurses regarding the current HPV education provision and the need to provide HPV education to students 15-17 years old when they are most likely to be becoming sexually active. METHODS A qualitative study was conducted using online semi-structured interviews between February-August 2022 with post-primary teachers and nurses in Northern Ireland, UK. Stratified random sampling was used to contact schools to recruit participants. Recruitment continued until data saturation was reached. Braun & Clarke's six-phase framework for reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. RESULTS Twelve teachers and six nurses participated in the study. Four themes arose based on the analysis including 1) the importance of HPV education 2) self-consent to the HPV vaccine 3) design of the HPV education and 4) delivery of the HPV education. Identified barriers to implementation of HPV education included lack of parental education, religion and the conservative culture of Northern Ireland. DISCUSSION Participants perceived HPV education to be poor or non-existent in their schools but placed high importance on this education. They indicated that a non-judgemental health professional would be the ideal person to deliver interactive HPV education as part of a mandated spiral curriculum. CONCLUSION HPV education at 15-17 years old provides students with an opportunity to learn about their HPV risk, their HPV vaccination status and an opportunity to self-consent to the HPV vaccine. The Education Authority and Department of Health should support health professionals to deliver consistent robust HPV health information to students of this age.

Abstract
Administering the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to men offers substantial health benefits for both themselves and their female partners. In mainland China, the HPV vaccine has not been approved for men, and little is known about their acceptance of it. This study aims to assess the acceptability of HPV vaccine among young Chinese adult men and examine the association between personal health beliefs, altruistic beliefs, and HPV vaccination intentions and behavioral attempts. A cross-sectional study was conducted among male university students using a multistage cluster sampling method in eight universities across five districts in Zhejiang Province, China. Data were collected from December 2020 to January 2021 using a self-administered, anonymous online questionnaire. Of the 1937 participants, 1009 who had heard of the HPV vaccine completed the questionnaire. Over one-third (40.4%, 408/1009) had high levels of HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge. A total of 695 of 1009 (68.9%) expressed an intention to receive the HPV vaccine when available, and 329 of 1009 (32.6%) had proactively inquired about male HPV vaccination. Perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived gender barriers, and perceived benefits of male HPV vaccination for female partner were associated with HPV vaccination intentions. Lower perceived vaccine barriers, greater perceived benefits, and stronger vaccination intentions were associated with higher HPV behavioral attempts. There is an emerging demand for HPV vaccinations among young adult men in mainland China. Personal health beliefs and altruistic beliefs are crucial in promoting young adult men's acceptance of the HPV vaccine. Emphasizing both male-specific benefits and altruistic motivations may enhance HPV vaccine acceptability among young adult men.

Abstract
Background This study aims to utilize the extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model to examine the intentions of clinical interns in China towards Human papillomaviruses (HPV) vaccination. It also fills a significant gap in the literature concerning vaccine acceptance in this specific population. Methods This cross-sectional study was carried out with clinical interns in Shandong Province, China, with a total of 1,619 participants. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires, including demographic characteristics, TPB variables, and HPV-related health knowledge. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to identify key factors influencing vaccination intentions, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the interrelationships between these factors. Results This study initially identified key predictors affecting clinical interns' intentions to receive the HPV vaccine through hierarchical regression analysis. The preliminary model, which accounted for demographic factors, revealed foundational impacts of household income and HPV-related clinical experience on intentions. After integrating TPB variables-attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and HPV-related health knowledge-the model's explanatory power was enhanced to 37.30%. SEM analysis focused on the interplay among TPB constructs and extended variables, confirming their significance in forming vaccination intentions, with subjective norm having the most substantial impact (β = 0.375, p < 0.001). The extended TPB model explained over half of the variance in vaccination intentions, substantiating the hypotheses and revealing the psychological determinants behind clinical interns' decision-making for HPV vaccination. Conclusion The extended TPB model from this study effectively explains the vaccination intentions among clinical interns for HPV, offering theoretical support for public health strategies and educational interventions targeting this group. These findings are of significant importance for public health practice and future health promotion strategies.

Abstract
To enhance the vaccination rate of adolescents against HPV, understanding their current vaccination intentions and identifying the factors that influence their decision to vaccinate are imperative. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) was used to search for relative literature. Five electronic databases (CINAHL, PubMed, Web of science, Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) and Korea Citation Index (KCI)) were searched from 2007 to 2022, and 19 studies were selected for final review. The Mixed Methods Assessment Tool (MMAT) was used as a critical appraisal tool to evaluate the quality for various types of research designs. This integrative review revealed three themes, including facilitators (personal characteristics and environmental factors), barriers (lack of awareness and knowledge about HPV, concerns about side effects, and the burden of costs), and ways to increase vaccination uptake (knowledge promotion and HPV vaccines coverage by public insurance). To encourage HPV vaccine uptake, it is essential to enhance public knowledge, create compelling advertisements, and ensure that the vaccines are covered by public insurance. Moreover, providing educational programs that emphasize the effectiveness and significance of HPV vaccines to adults who can influence the vaccination decisions of adolescents is vital.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is proven to reduce the risk of HPV-associated cancers and lesions. Factors associated with HPV vaccine receipt or rejection have been studied, but specific maternal characteristics driving uptake among teens requires further investigation. The aim of this study was to examine maternal characteristics influencing teen vaccine uptake and intent to vaccinate. STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional analysis METHODS: We analyzed data on 27,320 teens aged 13-17 using the 2020 National Immunization Survey-Teen. We constructed regression models to determine the associations, via relative risk, between child vaccination status and maternal characteristics. RESULTS Compared with mothers with less education, those with a college degree were significantly more likely to have their children receive HPV vaccination (RR = 1.18; 95% CI, 1.11-1.26). Compared to mothers under 35 years, those aged 35-44 (RR 1.07; 95% CI 1.01-1.14) and over 45 (RR = 1.13; 95% CI, 1.07-1.21) were more likely to provide HPV vaccination to their child. Among children not previously vaccinated (n = 12,098; N = 5,752,355), educated mothers were significantly less likely to report intent to vaccinate their child in the next year. There was no significant difference in vaccination rates in mothers who were married compared with never married (RR = 0.99; 95% CI, 0.97-1.02). CONCLUSION Maternal education was the strongest predictor of teens receiving the HPV vaccine. Among mothers with teens not previously vaccinated, intent to obtain the HPV vaccine for their child was higher among mothers with less education compared with college-level educated mothers. Understanding maternal characteristics driving HPV vaccine hesitancy can inform targeted approaches to improve vaccine uptake in children. Additionally, adequate and consistent health messaging on the safety, efficacy, and benefits of HPV vaccination from health providers and public health agencies could increase uptake among adolescents and teens of vaccine-hesitant mothers.

Influence of LINE-Assisted Provision of Information about Human Papillomavirus and Cervical Cancer Prevention on HPV Vaccine Intention: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Abstract
We conducted a prospective, randomized two-arm, parallel group, and open label trial to investigate whether the use of LINE would increase HPV vaccine intention among not completely vaccinated university students. In June 2020, we recruited students aged between 18 and 35 years from four universities in Japan. Among the 357 enrollees (female, 53%), 178 and 179 participants were randomized into the LINE and Mail groups, respectively. At baseline, within three years, vaccine intention was observed in 40% vs. 42% of participants, respectively. At the first intervention, which provided similar PDF leaflets about HPV vaccine and cervical cancer prevention, there was no significant difference in vaccine intention between the two groups. However, at the second intervention of LINE-assisted knowledge intervention for 5 days per week for 7 weeks, the LINE group had a higher proportion of vaccine intention than the no intervention group (66% vs. 44%, OR: 2.62, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.59-4.35) in per-protocol analysis. The significance remained in the intention-to-treat analysis of multiply imputed datasets. Although LINE did not directly increase HPV vaccine intention compared to conventional posts, the LINE-assisted provision of information was effective in improving HPV vaccine intention among Japanese university and college students.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one of the most effective public health measures for preventing HPV-related cancers and other diseases. However, vaccination coverage is not at the desired level, especially among men. In this context, we aimed to determine HPV vaccination rates, barriers, and some related demographic and personal factors among male university students in Turkey. We shared an online questionnaire prepared by the authors in line with the relevant literature on social media platforms and included 1723 male university students in this cross-sectional study. Only 4.9% of the students stated that they were vaccinated against HPV, and the most important obstacle to vaccination was not knowing when to be vaccinated (49.5%). Additionally, marital status, sexual orientation, chronic diseases, family history of cervical cancer, and having heard of HPV were significant predictors of HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Introduction Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine has proven to play a major role in preventing sexually transmitted diseases and related cancers among both men and women. However, the coverage of the HPV vaccination is still limited. Objective The study aims to evaluate the awareness of HPV and HPV vaccine, as well as the willingness to take HPV vaccine, especially factors influencing vaccination willingness among male college students. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional investigation among male college students from six colleges in Jiangsu, China. A structured questionnaire was used to investigate the subjects' basic information, behavior habits, cognition of the HPV vaccine, and intention for HPV vaccination. Multivariate analysis modes were used to analyze the influencing factors of vaccine awareness and willingness. Results We found that among 912 participants, only 24.34% of the participants had a "good knowledge" of HPV and HPV vaccine, and 34.54% showed a "positive attitude" toward the HPV vaccine after obtaining knowledge of HPV and its vaccine. Factors such as immune persistence, side effects, pricing strategy, and participants' self-assessment of HPV infection were the main factors influencing the HPV vaccination. Conclusion Strengthening health education on the HPV vaccination and finding appropriate ways to solve the problem of "vaccine hesitancy" will be effective in improving the coverage of the HPV vaccine and preventing related diseases. In addition, the lifting of restrictions on HPV vaccination for men in China may also prove useful.

Abstract
Men’s low HPV vaccination uptake and HPV-related disease incidence are public health issues; gendered social–contextual factors likely play a role. In Study 1, college men (N = 130; Mage = 19.55; white = 58.1%) reported their social cognitions (male-referent descriptive norms and prototypes), self-reliance masculinity ideology, and vaccination intentions. In Study 2, college men (N = 106; Mage = 19.32; white = 61.3%) were randomly assigned to receive HPV vaccination information from a man or woman physician-avatar. Descriptive norms and favorable prototypes (bs ≥ .337; ps ≤ .016) were associated with higher HPV vaccination intentions. Men with higher self-reliance masculinity had higher HPV vaccination intentions with a man physician and when they perceived greater vaccination among men (ps ≤ .035). Men with higher self-reliance masculinity are more sensitive to gendered social–contextual effects in HPV vaccination decision-making. Gendered social–contextual factors should be integrated into public health interventions to increase college men’s HPV vaccination uptake.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to provide a detailed characterisation of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine awareness, knowledge and information sources in the HPV vaccine decision-making process of youth, both male and female, in Switzerland. DESIGN With a mixed-method study design, we conducted quantitative questionnaires and qualitative interviews, which lasted 20-45 min. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS We recruited participants, 15-26 years of age, in physicians' offices, in a local sexual health clinic, and during military enlistment. We administered quantitative questionnaires to 997 youth participants (585 male, 412 female) and conducted qualitative interviews with 31 youth (17 male, 14 female). PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES We assessed HPV vaccine awareness, knowledge, information sources and vaccination status. RESULTS In the study's quantitative component, 108 (20%) male and 262 (65%) female participants had received ≥1 dose of HPV vaccine. 697 (70%) participants were knowledgeable about the HPV vaccine. Females were more likely to be knowledgeable than males (342/412 (83%) vs 355/585 (61%); p<0.01). Younger participants in the sample compared with older participants were more likely to be aware of HPV vaccine (135/148 (91%) vs 695/849 (82%); p<0.01). The three most mentioned information sources were school health programmes (442 (53%)), healthcare providers (190 (23%)) and participants' social networks (163 (20%)). Overall, 554/710 (78%) participants had a female-gendered perception of HPV vaccine, a finding which was further supported and explained by qualitative data. CONCLUSIONS Despite a male HPV vaccine recommendation being made >4 years prior to the data collection, HPV vaccine knowledge was higher among females than males, and a female-gendered perception of HPV vaccine remains prevalent. Internet and social media were minor HPV vaccine information sources. Study findings demonstrate that HPV knowledge matters for HPV vaccine uptake and suggest that we should improve HPV information quality and access for youth, particularly by tailoring knowledge campaigns to young men.
