Abstract
OBJECTIVE To clarify the role of concentrated growth factors (CGF) in the treatment of periodontal cement defects using calcium phosphate cement (CPC) with self-curing properties. METHODS Thirty-six intrabony defects were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group received CGF+CPC treatment (n=18), while the control group received CPC treatment alone (n=18). The probing depth, clinical attachment loss, and hard tissue filling as measured by cone beam CT (CBCT) were evaluated at baseline and 1 year postoperatively in both groups, and the levels of major growth factors in CGF and serum were compared [platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)]. RESULTS At baseline, there were no statistically significant differences in probing depth, clinical attachment loss and CBCT measurements between the two groups (P>0.05). At 1 year postoperatively, significant improvements were observed in parameters mentioned above in both groups (P < 0.05). The CGF+CPC group seemed more effective compared with the CPC group in reduction of probing depth [(4.5±1.3) mm vs. (3.2±1.1) mm] and clinical attachment gain [(3.8±0.9) mm vs. (2.0±0.5) mm, P < 0.05]. Compared with the group treated with CPC alone, the hard tissue filling degree shown by CBCT in the CGF+CPC group was significantly increased [the reduction of the depth of the intrabony defects was (3.9±1.2) mm vs. (2.1±0.7) mm, respectively, P < 0.01]. At 1 year post-operatively, the volume of the intrabony defects shown by CBCT in the CGF+CPC group was reduced by (0.031 8±0.004 1) mL, which was significantly more than that in the CPC group [(0.019 7±0.001 2) mL, P < 0.05]. In addition, the concentration of the main growth factors (PDGF-BB, TGF-β1, IGF-1, and VEGF) in CGF were higher than those in serum (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION After 1 year of follow-up, the results of the present study indicated that CGF could significantly improve the clinical and radiological effects of CPC on the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects.

Abstract
Cell homing, a process that leverages the body's natural ability to recruit cells and repair damaged tissues, presents a promising alternative to cell transplantation methods. Central to this approach is the recruitment of endogenous stem/progenitor cells-such as those from the apical papilla, bone marrow, and periapical tissues-facilitated by chemotactic biological cues. Moreover, biomaterial scaffolds embedded with signaling molecules create supportive environments, promoting cell migration, adhesion, and differentiation for the regeneration of the pulp-dentin complex. By analyzing in vivo animal studies using cell homing strategies, this review explores how biomolecules and scaffold materials enhance the recruitment of endogenous stem cells to the site of damaged dental pulp tissue, thereby promoting repair and regeneration. It also examines the key principles, recent advancements, and current limitations linked to cell homing-based regenerative endodontic therapy, highlighting the interplay of biomaterials, signaling molecules, and their broader clinical implications.

Abstract
Platelet-derived extracellular vesicles (PEVs) are rich in growth factors and have significant potential for facilitating tissue repair and regeneration. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of PEVs in treating diabetic wounds. To assess the efficacy and safety of PEVs in treating diabetic wounds, we conducted a systematic review of several databases and performed a meta-analysis using a random effects model. Nine studies (n = 128 animals) meeting the inclusion criteria for this review were identified. The pooled analysis revealed that compared to the control group, wounds treated with PEVs had a higher healing rate (SMD = 4.43, 95% CI = 2.85-6.01, P < 0.00001). In subgroup analysis, PEVs combined with hydrogel showed better efficacy than PEVs alone (SMD = 7.96, 95% CI = 5.05-10.87, P < 0.00001). Additionally, the PEVs treatment group outperformed the control group in other outcomes, such as vessel density and number, re-epithelialization rate, and collagen deposition. PEVs have the potential to promote angiogenesis at diabetic wound sites and alleviate inflammatory responses, ultimately aiding in wound healing, especially when combined with hydrogels or other medications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the effects of titanium-prepared platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) and leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) on osteoblasts. METHODS Venous blood samples were collected from ten volunteer patients to obtain T-PRF and L-PRF. The T-PRF group was labelled as Group T, the L-PRF group as Group L, and the control group, which includes only osteoblasts, was Group K. PRF samples were added to cultured osteoblast cells and cell proliferation was assessed using an MTT (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) assay. The effect of different groups on osteoblast proliferation was observed for 72 h and the results were analysed statistically. Additionally, real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was conducted to evaluate gene expression levels of COL1A1, ALP, OCN, and RUNX2 within 48 h. RESULTS We found that the MTT results at 24 h were significantly lower than those at 48 and 72 h (p = 0.036 and p < 0.001, respectively). L-PRF levels showed an increase from 24 to 48 h followed by a decrease from 48 to 72 h. T-PRF levels were seen to increase at both the 24-48 h and 48-72-hour intervals. The changes in the COLA1, OCN, ALP, and RUNX2 genes at 24 h and 48 h did not significantly differ among the groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS In this study, we investigated the effects of T-PRF and L-PRF on osteoblast proliferation over a 72-hour period. Both groups improved osteoblast proliferation, however T-PRF group showed a consistent increase in osteoblast proliferation up to 72 h, in contrast to the L-PRF group. No differences in gene expression were found. However, osteoblastic marker genes can be significantly expressed over longer time periods. Therefore, long-term studies are needed.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) promotes the wound-healing process and reduces pain. Cord blood platelet-rich plasma (CB-PRP), which can be easily collected from the umbilical cord and reapplied to a cesarean section wound, has been proposed to have similar effects as PRP. This paper hypothesizes that CB-PRB would provide beneficial effects in terms of wound healing and pain reduction in women undergoing cesarean section. This study is a randomized controlled trial involving 52 pregnant women who underwent cesarean sections. Participants were assigned to either the intervention group (n = 26) or the control group (n = 26) at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of Police General Hospital. Cord blood PRP was applied to the subcutaneous layer and the surgical wound immediately following the cesarean section. The efficacy of wound healing was evaluated using the REEDA scale score on days 1 and 3 postoperatively, and the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) was assessed in the 8th week postoperation. The efficacy in reducing pain was measured using a Visual Analog Scale on days 1 and 3 postoperatively. The mean REEDA scale on day 1 (mean ± SD: 1.5 ± 0.2561.5 ± 0.256 in the CB-PRP group and 2.5 ± 0.267 in the control group; p=0.009) and the mean VSS score at the 8th week (mean ± SD: 2.577 ± 2.003 in the CB-PRP group and 6.962 ± 2.441 in the control group; p < 0.001) were significantly lower in the CB-PRP group than those in the control group. However, there were no differences in Visual Analog Scale values between the two groups. The findings indicate that CB-PRP potentially promotes wound healing following cesarean sections but does not reduce pain. Further research is needed to confirm the beneficial effects of CB-PRP.

Abstract
Objective: Bone regeneration plays a pivotal role in modern oral surgery, particularly in facilitating successful implant-prosthetic rehabilitation. This systematic review explores the regenerative potential of growth factors, such as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and concentrated growth factors (CGFs), when combined with various types of scaffolds in bone augmentation procedures, including guided bone regeneration, split crest, sinus lift (SL), and alveolar ridge preservation. Method: A comprehensive search strategy yielded 18 relevant studies, which were analyzed for bone formation and stabilization outcomes. Results: Results indicate that PRF enhances bone regeneration and stabilization in SL and ridge augmentation procedures, while CGFs facilitate surgical techniques and augment bone. However, some studies did not report significant differences. Growth factors also demonstrate benefits in wound healing, reducing bone resorption, and enhancing socket preservation. Conclusion: Despite valuable insights, further research is needed to comprehensively understand the characteristics of growth factors in various surgical interventions, ensuring informed decision-making in bone regeneration surgery.

Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CR) is a persistent inflammation of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is a procedure that improves sinus drainage and ventilation. Despite advancements in ESS, additional corrective procedures post-ESS are often needed. Clinical trials have explored the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as adjunctive therapy after ESS. This study aims to provide evidence supporting the efficacy of PRP post-ESS for CS patients. Independent authors searched three electronic databases (Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL)) and assessed the methodological quality of included studies using the Cochrane risk of bias 2 tool (RoB 2). Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. We pooled standardized mean differences (SMDs) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using a random-effects model. Five RCTs met our inclusion criteria. Among 260 patients, 133 were allocated to PRP and 127 to the control group. PRP was associated with significantly lower postoperative nasal endoscopy scores (-1.74 (95% CI: -2.96, -0.52), P = 0.005) and Lund-Kennedy scores (-3.05 (95% CI: -4.97, -1.13), P = 0.002). PRP also significantly lowered Sinonasal Outcome Test-22 (SNOT-22) scores at one and three months follow-up (-8.25 (95% CI: -11.26, -5.24), P < 0.00001, and -2.75 (95% CI: -5.38, -0.12), P = 0.04, respectively). Subgroup analysis based on the location of administration showed borderline significance in the middle meatus group (-2.70 (95% CI: -5.35, -0.04), P = 0.05). This meta-analysis supports using PRP following ESS for CS patients. Despite promising results, further RCTs are needed to confirm long-term efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue among males, and the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for treating ED has gained increasing attention, but there is still no conclusive evidence regarding its efficacy. AIM To evaluate the efficacy of PRP therapy for ED. METHODS We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases up to November 2023 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on PRP therapy for ED. We used Review Manager version 5.4 for data analysis and management. RESULT After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria for screening, a total of 4 studies involving 413 patients were finally included in our meta-analysis. According to our analysis, the PRP group showed significant advantages over the placebo group in terms of MCID at the first month (p = 0.03) and sixth months (p = 0.008), while there was no significant difference between the two groups at the third month (p = 0.19). Additionally, in terms of IIEF, PRP showed significantly better efficacy than placebo at the first, third, and sixth months (p < 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS PRP shows more effectiveness in treating ED compared to placebo, offering hope as a potential alternative treatment for ED.

Abstract
The quality of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is contingent on the surface characteristics interfacing with blood. Titanium's superior platelet activation, surpassing silica, has made Titanium-platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) a favored autogenous bone graft material due to its extended degradation time. Pioneering a novel approach, this study aims to achieve an enhanced fibrin structure using glass tubes coated with nano-titanium, marking the surface's debut in our PRF production endeavors. Employing a rapid thermionic vacuum arc (TVA) process under high vacuum, we conducted comprehensive analyses of the tubes. Comprehensive analyses, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), were conducted on the nano-titanium-coated glass tubes. Three PRF types were formulated: silica-activated leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF, control group), machined-surface titanium tubes (T-PRF), and nano-titanium-coated tubes (nanoT-PRF). Analyses unveiled denser fibrin areas in nanoT-PRF than T-PRF, with the least dense areas in L-PRF. Cell distribution paralled between nanoT-PRF and T-PRF groups, while L-PRF cells were embedded in the fibrin border. NanoT-PRF exhibited the densest autogenous fibrin structure, suggesting prolonged in vivo resorption. Additionally, we explore the potential practicality of single-use production for nanoT-PRF tubes, introducing a promising clinical advancement. This study marks a significant stride in innovative biomaterial design, contributing to the progress of regenerative medicine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic nonhealing neuropathic foot ulcers affect approximately 15% to 30% of patients with diabetes mellitus and are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Although current strategies to address these chronic wounds include a multifactorial approach, clinical outcomes remain poor and warrant improvement. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), derived from autologous or allogeneic blood, is an emerging regenerative product that aims to serve as an adjuvant to standard diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) treatment. OBJECTIVE To examine controlled clinical trials investigating the efficacy of platelet-rich therapies in promoting healing of chronic DFUs. DATA SOURCES The PubMed/MEDLINE database. STUDY SELECTION Researchers selected 11 controlled clinical trials published between 2011 and 2021 that investigated the efficacy of PRP treatments for chronic DFUs. DATA EXTRACTION Extracted data included study type and size, participant sex and age, duration of diabetes, glycated hemoglobin levels, baseline ulcer area, wound duration, healing parameters, PRP preparation approach, and application type. DATA SYNTHESIS Randomized prospective studies (n = 8), prospective controlled studies (n = 2), and a double-blind, randomized controlled study (n = 1) were included in the review. In general, PRP plus standard of care provided superior wound healing, in both percentage of wound closure and healing rate, compared with standard of care alone. CONCLUSIONS Use of PRP as an adjuvant for healing chronic DFUs appears to improve wound healing. Further research on optimizing PRP preparation and exploring combinatorial approaches will be important in advancing this avenue for chronic wound healing.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to determine whether intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) gel increases endometrial thickness (EMT) and improves the outcomes of frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) in women with thin endometrium. METHODS This study included 111 women (aged 25-44 years) who had thin endometrium. All patients had at least one previous cycle canceled because of thin endometrium or previous embryo transfer cycles and an EMT < 7 mm. Forty-seven women underwent intrauterine infusion of autologous PRP gel on three occasions during endometrial preparation and the remaining women served as controls. The final EMT was measured by ultrasound before the start of the luteal phase, and FET-related outcome parameters were monitored. RESULTS Mean EMT was greater in women who received PRP gel than in those who did not (6.7 mm vs. 6.3 mm, respectively, p < 0.05). FET was attempted in all women. The 47 women who underwent infusion of PRP had a significantly higher pregnancy rate (18 pregnancies (38.3%), with 17 (36.2%) ongoing) compared with 64 control women (ten pregnancies (18.5%), nine (16.7%) ongoing). However, there was no significant reduction in the miscarriage rate. CONCLUSION Intrauterine infusion of autologous PRP gel during endometrial preparation for FET cycles can improve the EMT, clinical pregnancy rate, and ongoing pregnancy rate in women with thin endometrium.

Abstract
In recent years, the field of regenerative dentistry has garnered considerable attention for its focus on restoring and renewing damaged dental tissue. This narrative review explores the potential of bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP7) and its diverse applications in the regeneration of dental tissue. Recently, significant efforts have been made to understand BMP7's role in advancing regenerative dentistry. Amongst the various signalling molecules investigated for their regenerative capabilities, BMP7 emerges as a pivotal candidate, demonstrating the ability to stimulate the regeneration of dental pulp, periodontal, craniofacial, and alveolar bone tissues for dental implant placement. Whilst BMP7 exhibits significant promise as a therapeutic agent in regenerative dentistry, further research and clinical trials are necessary to fully unlock its potential and optimise its clinical effectiveness in addressing diverse dental and craniofacial conditions. This review highlights BMP7's substantial potential and emphasises the ongoing need for continued research to effectively harness its clinical utility in diverse dental and craniofacial contexts.

Abstract
Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis causes inflammation, pain, and joint degradation, necessitating treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids, posing various challenges. We aimed to evaluate the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) at two different doses associated to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in an in vivo model of induced acute arthritis in Wistar rats' knee. Methods: Eighty-four Wistar rats were assigned into seven groups, including animals treated with PBM and/or PRP. On day 0, arthritis was induced in sham and treated groups through the intra-articular injection of zymosan (200 μg). Twenty-four hours after induction, the PBM groups were treated with an AsGaAl laser, whereas the PRP-treated groups received intra-articular injections with a concentration of 8 × 105 platelets obtained from another four animals. After 3 days, the animals were euthanized, and the interleukin (IL)-6 and complement C3 gene and protein expression levels were analyzed. Statistical analysis was performed using the mean ± SD with analysis of variance and Tukey's posttest, with a significance level set at 5% (p < 0.05). Results: Synovial inflammation decreased in PBM-treated groups; however, PRP alone showed no significant difference. Gene expression analysis revealed a significant difference in IL-6 and C3 levels in the PBM and PBM+PRP-treated groups. Meanwhile, the PRP alone group exhibited significance for IL-6. Moreover, the PBM and PBM+PRP-treated groups showed a significant difference in C3 protein expression levels, whereas the PRP alone group showed no difference. Conclusion: The increase in cellular activity in the synovial membrane and the decrease protein expression levels are owing to the reduction in proinflammatory mediators following PBM therapy.

Abstract
Cryopreservation of goat spermatozoa is challenging due to several factors, including one of the most essential, i.e., oxidative stress. It is particularly essential in goat semen due to its scanty ejaculate volume and high sperm concentration. This leaves a narrow sperm-to-seminal plasma ratio owing to marginal antioxidant support; moreover, semen extension further dilutes the antioxidant level, leading to an imbalance of oxidant-antioxidant equilibrium. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of quercetin on curtailing oxidative stress and its reflection on the post-thaw survivability and membrane integrity of goat spermatozoa. For this study, six bucks were selected. Six ejaculates from each buck totaling 36 ejaculates were collected, which were then split into five parts; furthermore, each part was added with a semen extender having a particular concentration of additive. Group C without quercetin and T1 containing Vitamin E at 3 mmol/mL were considered the control and positive control respectively, whereas T2, T3, and T4 contain 10, 20, and 30 μmol/mL of Quercetin respectively. The final sperm concentration of each group was kept at 200 × 106 spermatozoa/mL. All groups were subjected to equilibration at 4 °C for 4 h, then filled in French mini (0.25 mL) straws, followed by sealing and cryopreservation. Samples after 72 h of cryopreservation were subjected to evaluation of plasma membrane integrity and viability through staining, acrosomal integrity, and mitochondrial membrane activity through flow cytometry. Evaluation of sperm kinematics as well as the oxidant-antioxidant status of sperm (ROS and nitric oxide) and seminal plasma (SOD, CAT, GPx, FRAP, and lipid peroxidation through MDA estimation) were also carried out. Quercetin, when supplemented at 20 μmol/mL in buck semen extender, significantly (p < 0.01) improved cryopreserved sperm functions in terms of plasma membrane integrity, viability, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial membrane activity, and sperm kinematics of buck semen. Similarly, Quercetin supplementation at 20 μmol/mL significantly reduced reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) in sperm and improved the antioxidant status of seminal plasma, which was indicated by reduced oxidative damage and improved the antioxidant status of buck semen. In conclusion, Quercetin at 20 μmol/mL reduced oxidative stress, improved semen antioxidant status, and improved sperm membranes integrity and kinematics.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION To comprehensively evaluate the reported clinical effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in patients with chronic sinusitis undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). METHODS We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Five digital online databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Cochrane CENTRAL) were searched from inception up to 1st May 2023. Our specific outcomes involved postoperative nasal endoscopy scores measured via Lund-Kennedy score or Meltzer score, olfactory sensation scores and pre-operative anosmia duration. All data were pooled as standardised mean difference (SMD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI), using the RevMan software. RESULTS Six RCTs were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis, with a total of 169 patients. The risk of bias in the included RCTs was low in three RCTs, some concerns in one RCT and high risk in two RCTs. The overall analysis of the postoperative nasal endoscopy scores showed that the PRP group had lower scores compared to the control group (n = 3 RCTs, SMD = -1.19; 95% CI [-1.94, -0.44], p = .002). There was no significant difference between the PRP and control groups regarding anosmia duration (n = 2 RCTs, SMD = 0.21; 95% CI [-0.17, 0.59], p = 0.28) or olfactory sensation scores, despite the PRP group having higher scores (n = 2 RCTs, SMD = 0.53; 95% CI [-0.32, 1.39], p = 0.22). CONCLUSION This study highlights the potential advantages of using PRP as an additional treatment for individuals with chronic sinusitis undergoing ESS. The improvements associated with PRP include facilitating wound healing, reducing inflammation and enhancing surgical outcomes. To optimise the use of PRP in clinical settings, future research should focus on conducting larger trials with standardised protocols.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Olfactory dysfunction (OD) affects many survivors of COVID-19. Prior studies have investigated the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for OD. We describe the first randomized controlled trial investigating topical PRP for OD treatment and contribute to existing literature illustrating PRP as an emerging therapeutic. METHODS This is a single-blinded, randomized controlled trial conducted from July 2022 to December 2023. Adult patients with OD ≥6 months secondary to COVID-19 with Brief Smell Identification Test (BSIT) scores of ≤8/12 or SCENTinel odor intensity of ≤40/100 were included. Patients were randomized to three, monthly PRP or placebo-impregnated Surgifoam treatments into bilateral olfactory clefts. The BSIT, SCENTinel, and Questionnaire of Olfactory Disorders-Negative Statements (QOD-NS) were completed monthly through month 12. RESULTS Of 104 patients screened, 83 participated. No significant differences in age, OD duration, BSIT, SCENTinel, or QOD-NS scores were found between PRP (n = 42) and placebo (n = 41) patients at baseline. PRP patients experienced a statistically significant increase in BSIT scores from baseline at months 5‒9, 11, and 12, while placebo patients did not (p < 0.05). However, total BSIT scores were similar between the two groups throughout the study. Neither the SCENTinel odor intensity scores nor the change from baseline were significantly different between the treatment groups. At month 12, PRP patients experienced minor improvement in OD-related quality-of-life compared with placebo. CONCLUSIONS This study is the first to describe topical PRP as a safe, experimental treatment for OD in humans. PRP may impact odor identification in post-COVID-19 OD patients, although the lack of difference in total BSIT scores highlights the need for further study.

Abstract
Wound dehiscence is a common complication after secondary alveolar bone grafting (SABG), leading to unfavourable surgical outcomes. Studies have shown that autologous platelet concentrates (APC) may enhance wound healing and improve outcomes. Therefore, this review aimed to evaluate in patients with alveolar clefts, whether using APC and iliac crest bone graft can mitigate the likelihood of wound dehiscence formation compared with those who underwent iliac bone grafting only following SABG. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using various electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, Ovid MEDLINE, LILACS, Cochrane Library, and grey literature, to include studies until July 31, 2023, without any restriction to language and time of publication. Only randomized (RCT) and controlled (CCT) clinical trials were included. Two independent reviewers screened the studies based on the predefined criteria, after which a qualitative and quantitative analysis was conducted. The search yielded 821 studies, of which seven were deemed eligible for systematic review. The risk of bias assessment done using "The Cochrane collaboration tool for risk of bias assessment" for six RCTs and the "Risk of Bias in Non-randomized Studies - of Interventions" for one CCT revealed a moderate to high risk of bias. The meta-analysis of five studies showed that the overall risk of developing wound dehiscence was lower in the APC group (RR = 0.33; 95% CI: 0.16, 0.71; p = 0.005; χ2 = 0.82; I2 = 0%). Subgroup analyses based on study design further supported these findings. Although the adjuvant use of APC for alveolar cleft reconstruction reduces the risk of wound dehiscence, more studies with increased scientific rigour and fewer confounding variables are warranted.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This review aims to elucidate potential variations in clinical outcomes resulting from the use of different types of platelet-rich plasma (PRPs) in reproductive medicine. It seeks to explore the reasons behind the diverse results reported in various studies and assess the general features distinguishing different PRP formulations. RECENT FINDINGS PRPs have found applications across diverse medical fields, generating controversy due to the variability in outcomes. The field of reproductive medicine, despite its limited published studies, is encountering a similar challenge as it integrates these treatments. SUMMARY The multitude of PRP product brands in the market, coupled with 'home-made' PRPs, poses a significant barrier to establishing a common protocol for the preparation of standardized PRP products. This impediment hinders widespread adoption by clinicians, particularly in endometrial or ovarian treatments. Drawing from evidence in other medical disciplines, this review endeavors to compile essential characteristics that PRPs must possess, aiming to mitigate the impact of variables affecting results in forthcoming studies.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the portion of plasma with a platelet concentration above baseline that is recovered through centrifugation of autologous blood. PRP therapy is currently used for wound healing and pain relief in diverse medical fields. Although there have been recent reports of adverse events (AEs) possibly related to PRP treatment, the safety profile of PRP treatment remains unclear. Therefore, this review discusses the risks inherent in PRP therapy and the current issues by surveying reports on AEs associated with PRP treatment within different fields. PubMed was searched for research articles referring to AEs associated with PRP therapy from inception to January 2024. Literature survey revealed that PRP therapy may involve several AEs, including postoperative infections, blindness, inflammation, allergic reactions, and nodule development. The most commonly reported AE was postoperative infections. Since PRP therapy generally proceeds in the process of blood collection, manufacturing, and administration to patients, it is conjectured that PRP may have been contaminated with microorganisms at some point in this series of processes, leading to bacterial infection. Additionally, because PRP cannot be sterilized like pharmaceuticals, it is important to prevent microbial contamination during each PRP treatment process. However, the specific process that involves the risk of microbial contamination remains unclear. To take measures to prevent microbial contamination of PRP, it may be necessary to elucidate the risk factors for microbial contamination during PRP treatment. It may be important to elucidate the effectiveness and risks of PRP therapy as well as to establish a follow-up system after PRP treatment. Currently, most reports of AEs related to PRP therapy are case reports; therefore, the accumulation of high-quality evidence and detailed verification are necessary to determine the causal relationship between PRP therapy and each AE.

Abstract
Periodontitis is a dysbiosis-driven inflammatory disease affecting the tooth-supporting tissues, characterized by their progressive resorption, which can ultimately lead to tooth loss. A step-wise therapeutic approach is employed for periodontitis. After an initial behavioral and non-surgical phase, intra-bony or furcation defects may be amenable to regenerative procedures. This review discusses the regenerative technologies employed for periodontal regeneration, highlighting the current limitations and future research areas. The search, performed on the MEDLINE database, has identified the available biomaterials, including biologicals (autologous platelet concentrates, hydrogels), bone grafts (pure or putty), and membranes. Biologicals and bone grafts have been critically analyzed in terms of composition, mechanism of action, and clinical applications. Although a certain degree of periodontal regeneration is predictable in intra-bony and class II furcation defects, complete defect closure is hardly achieved. Moreover, treating class III furcation defects remains challenging. The key properties required for functional regeneration are discussed, and none of the commercially available biomaterials possess all the ideal characteristics. Therefore, research is needed to promote the advancement of more effective and targeted regenerative therapies for periodontitis. Lastly, improving the design and reporting of clinical studies is suggested by strictly adhering to the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) 2010 statement.

Abstract
Implant therapy is a common treatment option in dentistry and orthopedics, but its application is often associated with an increased risk of microbial contamination of the implant surfaces that cause bone tissue impairment. This study aims to develop two silver-enriched platelet-rich plasma (PRP) multifunctional scaffolds active at the same time in preventing implant-associated infections and stimulating bone regeneration. Commercial silver lactate (L) and newly synthesized silver deoxycholate:β-Cyclodextrin (B), were studied in vitro. Initially, the antimicrobial activity of the two silver soluble forms and the PRP enriched with the two silver forms has been studied on microbial planktonic cells. At the same time, the biocompatibility of silver-enriched PRPs has been assessed by an MTT test on human primary osteoblasts (hOBs). Afterwards, an investigation was conducted to evaluate the activity of selected concentrations and forms of silver-enriched PRPs in inhibiting microbial biofilm formation and stimulating hOB differentiation. PRP-L (0.3 µg/mm2) and PRP-B (0.2 µg/mm2) counteract Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida albicans planktonic cell growth and biofilm formation, preserving hOB viability without interfering with their differentiation capability. Overall, the results obtained suggest that L- and B-enriched PRPs represent a promising preventive strategy against biofilm-related implant infections and demonstrate a new silver formulation that, together with increasing fibrin binding protecting silver in truncated cone-shaped cyclic oligosaccharides, achieved comparable inhibitory results on prokaryotic cells at a lower concentration.

Abstract
Platelet-rich fibrin has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its remarkable capacity to accelerate the post-surgery wound healing process, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair. This study aimed to perform a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of platelet-rich fibrin in mixture form with bone substitute, as a membrane, or in combination. A comprehensive search using a combination of controlled vocabulary (MeSH) and free-text terms was undertaken by two reviewers to identify published randomized clinical trials. Three major electronic databases (Medline via PubMed, Cochrane database, and Embase) and the clinical trials registry (clinicaltrials.gov) were searched up to 9 July 2023. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the pooled standardized mean difference of probing depth for platelet-rich fibrin was 0.61 (95% CI, 0.33 to 0.88). The results of the meta-analysis showed that the mean difference in clinical attachment level for platelet-rich fibrin was 0.68 (95% CI, 0.35 to 1.01). The results of the meta-analysis showed that the mean difference in bone fill for platelet-rich fibrin was 0.50 (95% CI, 0.23 to 0.78). In conclusion, the study found that platelet-rich fibrin was effective as adjunct to periodontal regeneration.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Does platelet-rich plasma (PRP) intraovarian injection increase the number of retrieved oocytes in successive ovarian punctions among patients with poor ovarian reserve (POR)? SUMMARY ANSWER The injection of PRP increases the number of retrieved oocytes without increasing the quality of developed blastocysts. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Management of women with reduced ovarian response to stimulation is one of the significant challenges in reproductive medicine. Recently, PRP treatment has been proposed as an adjunct in assisted reproduction technology, with controversial results. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION This placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized trial included 60 patients with POR stratified according to the POSEIDON classification groups 3 and 4. It was conducted to explore the efficacy and safety of intraovarian PRP injection. Patients were proposed to undergo three consecutive ovarian stimulations to accumulate oocytes and were randomized to receive either PRP or placebo during their first oocyte retrieval. Randomization was performed using computer-generated randomization codes. Double blinding was ensured so that neither the participant nor the investigators knew of the treatment allotted. All patients underwent three ovarian stimulations and egg retrieval procedures. ICSI was performed after a third ovarian puncture. The primary endpoint was the number of mature oocytes retrieved after PRP or placebo injection in successive ovarian punctures. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Sixty women (30-42 years) fulfilling inclusion criteria were randomized in equal proportions to the treatment or control groups. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE The baseline demographic and clinical characteristics [age, BMI, anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels] were comparable between the groups. Regarding the primary endpoint, the cumulative number (mean ± SEM) of retrieved mature oocytes was slightly higher in the treatment group: 10.45 ± 0.41 versus 8.91 ± 0.39 in the control group, respectively (95% CI of the difference 0.42-2.66; P = 0,008). The number of mature oocytes obtained among all patients increased in successive egg retrievals: 2.61 ± 0.33 (mean ± SEM) in punction 1 (P1), 3.85 ± 0.42 in P2, and 4.73 ± 0.44 in P3. However, the increase was higher among patients receiving the assessed PRP treatment. In P2, the number of retrieved mature oocytes was 4.18 ± 0.58 versus 3.27 ± 0.61 in controls (95% CI of the difference: -0.30 to 2.12; P = 0.138) and in P3, 5.27 ± 0.73 versus 4.15 ± 0.45 (95% CI of the difference: 0.12-2.12; P = 0.029). The mean ± SEM number of developed and biopsied blastocysts was 2.43 ± 0.60 in the control group and 1.90 ± 0.32 in the treatment group, respectively (P = 0.449). The mean number of euploid blastocysts was 0.81 ± 0.24 and 0.81 ± 0.25 in the control and treatment groups, respectively (P = 1.000). The percentages of patients with euploid blastocysts were 53.33% (16 out of 30) and 43.33% (13 out of 30) for patients in the control and treatment groups, respectively (Fisher's exact test P = 0.606). The overall pregnancy rate per ITT was 43% (26 out of 60 patients). However, the percentage of clinical pregnancies was higher in the control group (18 out of 30, 60%) than in the treatment group (8 out of 30, 27%) (P = 0.018). There was also a trend toward poorer outcomes in the treatment group when considering full-term pregnancies (P = 0.170). There were no differences between control and treatment groups regarding type of delivery, and sex of newborns. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The mechanism of the potential beneficial effect of PRP injection on the number of retrieved oocytes is unknown. Either delivered platelet factors or a mechanical effect could be implicated. Further studies will be needed to confirm or refute the data presented in this trial and to specify the exact mechanism of action, if any, of PRP preparations. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS The increasing number of women with a poor response to ovarian stimulation supports the exploration of new areas of research to know the potential benefits of therapies capable of increasing the number of oocytes available for fertilization and improving the quality of developed blastocysts. An increase in the retrieved oocytes in both arms of the trial suggests that, beyond the release of growth factor from platelets, a mechanical effect can play a role. However, neither improvement in euploid blastocyst development nor pregnancy rates have been demonstrated. Abstract
BACKGROUND Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) encompasses a range of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and associated structures, with TMJ pain being a prevalent symptom. Conventional management strategies have limitations, which require the exploration of innovative interventions. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), known for its regenerative properties, presents a potential therapeutic avenue. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of PRP in reducing the pain associated with mild TMJ in young adults. METHODOLOGY Participants (n = 128) aged 18 to 35 years with mild TMD were evenly randomized into PRP treatment and placebo control groups. PRP was prepared using a standardized protocol, and intra-articular injections were administered. Placebo injections mimic PRP. Follow-up evaluations were carried out at four and eight weeks after the intervention. RESULTS The study successfully randomized comparable groups, and the PRP treatment group experienced a significant reduction in TMJ pain (visual analog scale [VAS] score: 6.8 ± 1.2 to 2.1 ± 1.0 at eight weeks, P < 0.001). The PRP treatment also increased the largest opening of the mouth (from 38.2 ± 2.5 to 43.5 ± 3.1, P < 0.001) and the number of lateral movements (12.3 ± 1.5 to 14.9 ± 2.0, P < 0.001), while the placebo group had very few changes. Positive patient-reported outcomes on daily activities were observed, with no serious complications reported in either group. CONCLUSIONS This study provides evidence supporting the efficacy of PRP in reducing TMJ pain, improving jaw function, and improving quality of life in young adults with mild TMD. The results underscore the potential of PRP as a minimally invasive intervention for TMJ disorders.

Abstract
Direct pulp capping (DPC) is a conservative approach for preserving tooth vitality without requiring more invasive procedures by enhancing pulp healing and mineralized tissue barrier formation. We investigated the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) vs. Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as a DPC agent. Forty-two teeth from three mongrel dogs were divided into two equal groups. After three months, the animals were sacrificed to evaluate teeth radiographically using cone-beam computerized tomography, histopathologically, and real-time PCR for dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (MEPE), and nestin (NES) mRNA expression. Radiographically, hard tissue formation was evident in both groups without significant differences (p = 0.440). Histopathologic findings confirmed the dentin bridge formation in both groups; however, such mineralized tissues were homogenous without cellular inclusions in the PRP group, while was osteodentin type in the MTA group. There was no significant difference in dentin bridge thickness between the PRP-capped and MTA-capped teeth (p = 0.732). The PRP group had significantly higher DSPP, MEPE, and NES mRNA gene expression than the MTA group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, PRP enables mineralized tissue formation following DPC similar to MTA, and could generate better cellular dentinogenic responses and restore dentin with homogenous architecture than MTA, making PRP a promising alternative DPC agent.

It emphasises the need for further research into long-term outcomes, direct comparative studies, protocol standardisation, biomarker identification, and cost-effectiveness assessments to enhance clinical practice. While the review does not directly compare PRP and BMAC, it provides valuable insights into their respective roles in knee osteoarthritis management. The review aims to contribute to evidence-based advancements in regenerative therapies for knee osteoarthritis by addressing critical research priorities and refining treatment strategies.

Abstract
Platelet concentrates such as platelet-rich plasma, platelet-rich fibrin or concentrated growth factors are cost-effective autologous preparations containing various growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor β, insulin-like growth factor 1 and vascular endothelial growth factor. For this reason, they are often used in regenerative medicine to treat wounds, nerve damage as well as cartilage and bone defects. Unfortunately, after administration, these preparations release growth factors very quickly, which lose their activity rapidly. As a consequence, this results in the need to repeat the therapy, which is associated with additional pain and discomfort for the patient. Recent research shows that combining platelet concentrates with biomaterials overcomes this problem because growth factors are released in a more sustainable manner. Moreover, this concept fits into the latest trends in tissue engineering, which include biomaterials, bioactive factors and cells. Therefore, this review presents the latest literature reports on the properties of biomaterials enriched with platelet concentrates for applications in skin, nerve, cartilage and bone tissue engineering.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To review the existing evidence on the adjuvant use of autologous platelet concentrates (APCs) with iliac crest bone graft (ICBG) in the reconstruction of the secondary alveolar cleft. METHODS Electronic databases were searched systematically until November 2022. Clinical trials comparing the three-dimensional radiological outcomes of patients who underwent secondary alveolar bone grafting (SABG) with ICBG and APCs to those with ICBG alone and the radiological outcomes assessed 6 months after surgery were included. Two authors performed the study selection and the assessment of the risk of bias. Meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model to determine the risk ratio (RR) for developing wound dehiscence and the mean difference (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) for the percentage of newly formed bone. RESULTS Nine studies (seven RCT and two CCT) were included with a low to high risk of bias. At the 6-month follow-up, the study group revealed insignificant results regarding the percentage of newly formed bone (MD = 6.49; 95% CI: -0.97, 13.94; p = .09; χ2 = 0.01; I2 = 71%). In addition, the overall risk of developing wound dehiscence was lower in the study group (RR = 0.34; 95% CI: 0.15, 0.78; p = .01; χ2 = 0.67; I2 = 0%). CONCLUSION Currently, there is insufficient evidence to support the adjuvant use of APCs with ICBG on enhanced bone regeneration following secondary alveolar bone grafting. However, combining ICBG and APCs might be beneficial in reducing the risk of developing wound dehiscence.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has gained attention in the scientific field due to its potential regenerative effects and great benefit-risk ratio. This review extensively explores the most studied mechanisms of this therapy according to the etiopathogenesis of skin diseases: cellular proliferation, matrix formation, regulation of inflammation, angiogenesis, collagen synthesis, and the remodeling of new tissue. Moreover, it draws on newly reported and lesser-known effects of PRP: its anti-apoptotic effects, immunological suppression, decrease in melanin synthesis, anti-microbial effects, overexpression of miR-155, antioxidant effects, and their involved pathways. This work aims to provide a complete update for understanding PRP's benefits and clinical relevance in wound healing, alopecia, pigmentary disorders, scars, rejuvenation, lichen sclerosus, and other inflammatory dermatoses, based on the current evidence. Furthermore, recent reports with novel indications for PRP therapy are highlighted, and new potential pathways correlated with the pathogenesis of skin diseases are explored.

Abstract
Osteoporosis is a chronic multifactorial condition that affects the skeletal system, leading to the deterioration of bone microstructure and an increased risk of bone fracture. Platelet-derived biomaterials (PDBs), so-called platelet concentrates, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), have shown potential for improving bone healing by addressing microstructural impairment. While the administration of platelet concentrates has yielded positive results in bone regeneration, the optimal method for its administration in the clinical setting is still debatable. This comprehensive review aims to explore the systemic and local use of PRP/PRF for treating various bone defects and acute fractures in patients with osteoporosis. Furthermore, combining PRP/PRF with stem cells or osteoinductive and osteoconductive biomaterials has shown promise in restoring bone microstructural properties, treating bony defects, and improving implant osseointegration in osteoporotic animal models. Here, reviewing the results of in vitro and in vivo studies, this comprehensive evaluation provides a detailed mechanism for how platelet concentrates may support the healing process of osteoporotic bone fractures.

Abstract
PURPOSE Concentrated platelet derivatives (PDs) such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have been extensively applied in tissue engineering, and particularly in various fields of regenerative dentistry. The purpose of the present citation analysis was to compile the 100 top-cited articles on the PDs uses in oral and maxillofacial surgery. METHODS A cross-sectional search of the relevant studies in the Web of Science citation database was conducted to identify the 100 most-cited articles. All the included papers consisted of independent variables of this analysis. Covariates that were further considered were basic bibliometric indexes, such as publication year, publishing journal, authorship, institution and country of origin, study design, and field of study. The primary outcome variables were citation counts and citation density. A descriptive analysis of secondary outcome variables, namely bibliographic data such as keyword, abstract, title term co-occurrence analysis, thematic map and wordcloud analysis, was performed using the bibliometrix R and VOSviewer software. RESULTS The total citation count for the 100 most-cited articles ranged from 85 to 1821, with 2002 being the most productive year. With 15 articles, the Journal of Periodontology was the most represented journal, followed closely by the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Clinical Oral Implants Research. The United States published the largest number of papers. Original basic science research studies on implantology and biology dominated the top-cited list. Randomized clinical trials and systematic reviews were adequately represented in the top-cited list. Platelet-derived growth factor and osteoprotegerin represented emerging minimally developed themes, while PRP, growth factors and fibrin, along with the applications of PRF in gingival recession and intra bony defects, were considered important motor themes. CONCLUSIONS The current study provides a complete list and in-depth analysis of the 100 most-cited publications relevant to PDs use in oral and maxillofacial surgery, identifying the most important research topics, most impactful authors, institutions, and countries. Though PRP studies were leading the top-cited list, publications focusing on PRF pesented higher citation density values, indicating a continuously increasing citation rate.

Abstract
Endometrial receptivity is an important factor that influences embryo implantation. Thus, it is important to identify an applicable approach to improve endometrial receptivity in women undergoing assisted reproductive technology. Recently, growing evidence has indicated that intrauterine platelet-rich plasma (PRP) infusion is an effective method to obtain a satisfactory reproductive outcome by increasing endometrial thickness and improving endometrial receptivity. Therefore, the present review aims to outline the possible mechanisms of PRP on endometrial receptivity and summarize the present literature on the effects of PRP therapy in improving endometrial receptivity.

Abstract
This study aimed to compare the results of injection triamcinolone and hyaluronidase combination with injection Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in management of Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF). Present study was carried out in randomly divided two groups of 30 patients each of OSMF who all are presented with chief complain of reduced mouth opening. Group A patients were given 1 ml of injection triamcinolone and hyaluronidase combination. Group B patients received 1 ml of injection Platelet Rich Plasma. Both injections were given intralesionally once a week for 6 weeks. Results of ANOVA shows significant better results in improving mouth opening in group B patients receiving injection Platelet Rich Plasma as a treatment. In Group A, patients shows improvement in Maximum interincisal distance (MIID) of mean 6.51 ± 1.02 mm as compared to the patients in group B shows improvement in MIID of mean 9.53 ± 1.06 mm (p value < 0.05). Treatment of OSMF with injection Platelet Rich Plasma is a novel method and found to be more efficient than treatment with injection triamcinolone and hyaluronidase combination.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) activation is emerging as a promising and multifaceted tool for accelerating skin wound healing. This review extensively examines PRP's role in wound healing, focusing on its composition, mechanisms of action, activation methods, and clinical applications. PRP's potential to enhance both chronic and acute wound healing and its applications in cosmetic and aesthetic procedures are explored. Furthermore, this review investigates safety concerns, including adverse reactions, infection risks, and long-term safety implications. Looking to the future, emerging technologies, combination therapies, personalized medicine approaches, and regulatory developments are discussed, pointing towards an important and transformative era in wound healing and regenerative medicine. With its wide-ranging implications for healthcare, PRP activation has the potential to become a ubiquitous and essential therapeutic option, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a biological hemocomponent derived from blood after the complete removal of red blood cells and the partial or complete removal of white blood cells to concentrate platelets in an appropriate volume of plasma. Platelets have important growth factors, cytokines, and active metabolites that improve the endometrial environment and positively affect implantation. This study evaluated the effect of the addition of activated PRP (platelets lysate; PL) on in vitro bovine oocyte maturation and embryonic development and the effect of intrauterine (IU) infusion of autologous PL in repeat breeder (RB) cows. Experiment 1 examined the effects of allogeneic PL, fetal calf serum (FCS), mixed PL + FCS, or platelet-poor plasma (PPP) supplementations to in vitro maturation and development media on in vitro oocyte maturation and embryo development in good- and poor-quality oocytes of Japanese Black cows. Experiment 2 examined the IU infusion of autologous PL, 24 h post-insemination, in 21 RB Holstein-Friesian dairy cows. The cleavage rate of good-quality oocytes was higher in the PL group (85.93 ± 2.50%) than in the PPP group (67.16 ± 3.41%) (P < 0.05), while the cleavage rate of the poor-quality oocytes was higher in the PL alone (76.13 ± 4.04%) and mixed PL + FCS treated (73.59 ± 4.22%) groups than in the PPP group (54.64 ± 2.93%) (P < 0.05). The blastocyst rate of the good-quality oocytes was higher in the PL group (40.97 ± 3.03%) than in the FCS (27.97 ± 3.31%) and PPP (25.33 ± 2.15%) groups (P < 0.05). The blastocyst rate of poor-quality oocytes and the hatching rates of both good and poor-quality oocytes showed no significant differences among all groups. The conception rate in the autologous PL-treated group was 41.67% (5/12), while it was 11.11% (1/9) in the control group. The platelets' count in the pregnant PL-treated cows (n = 5; mean ± SEM, 1.07 ± 0.10 × 109/mL) was higher than in the non-pregnant ones (n = 7; 0.67 ± 0.10 × 109/mL) (P < 0.05). In conclusion, allogeneic PL was effective in stimulating the in vitro oocyte maturation and embryonic development in both good and poor-quality bovine oocytes, and post-insemination IU infusion of autologous PL derived from high platelets' count-PRP would be recommended for the treatment of RB cows.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a blood-based product containing platelets and growth factors, is being utilized to treat numerous non-hemostatic disorders. Studies have explored the use of PRP to provide rapid repair, healing, and recovery from various injuries; some studies mentioned the effectiveness of PRP as compared with other forms of treatment like the use of hyaluronic acid. Commercially available PRP systems are available now, and each varies from one another depending on how it is prepared, thus causing variations in platelet concentration and growth factor content. These variations also implicated different therapeutic applications. METHODS The paper reviews the various applications of PRP, including factors to consider before using PRP therapy, and provides an extensive list of PRP applications. RESULTS The administration of PRP as a standalone treatment or as a co-therapy results in observed positive outcomes. However, there is a lack of standardization for PRP preparation, increasing the risks for heterogeneity and bias amongst results. CONCLUSION The use of PRP is indeed an option for regenerative therapy, but more research is needed before it can fully be recommended as a primary treatment modality.

Abstract
Aging and age-related changes impact the quality of life (QOL) in elderly with a decline in movement, cognitive abilities and increased vulnerability towards age-related diseases (ARDs). One of the key contributing factors is cellular senescence, which is triggered majorly by DNA damage response (DDR). Accumulated senescent cells (SCs) release senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which includes pro-inflammatory cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), lipids and chemokines that are detrimental to the surrounding tissues. Chronic low-grade inflammation in the elderly or inflammaging is also associated with cellular senescence and contributes to ARDs. The literature from the last decade has recorded the use of platelet rich plasma (PRP) to combat senescence and inflammation, alleviate pain as an analgesic, promote tissue regeneration and repair via angiogenesis-all of which are essential in anti-aging and tissue regeneration strategies. In the last few decades, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used as an anti-aging treatment option for dermatological applications and with great interest in tissue regeneration for orthopaedic applications, especially in osteoarthritis (OA). In this exploration, we connect the intricate relationship between aging, ARDs, senescence and inflammation and delve into PRP's properties and potential benefits. We conduct a comparative review of the current literature on PRP treatment strategies, paying particular attention to the instances strongly linked to ARDs. Finally, upon careful consideration of this interconnected information in the context of aging, we suggest a prospective role for PRP in developing anti-aging therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the histomorphometric changes occurring in alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) based on the use of different plasma concentrates (PCs) in randomized clinical trials (RCT). There is controversy whether the placement of PCs in ARP is effective in the formation of new bone. MATERIALS AND METHODS A systematic review search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Database to answer the PICO question: In patients undergoing tooth extraction followed by ARP, do PCs alone in the post-extraction socket in comparison with spontaneous healing improve new vital bone formation percentage in histomorphometric analysis after more than 10 weeks? The risk of bias was assessed and a meta-analysis was conducted. RESULTS Of 3809 results, 8 studies were considered suitable for inclusion. A total of 255 teeth were extracted in 250 patients. Regarding the PCs used, ARP was performed with platelet- and leukocyte-rich fibrin (L-PRF) in 120 sockets, and with pure platelet-rich plasma (P-PRP) in 31 sockets and 104 sockets were controlled. PCs improved new bone formation in ARP with respect to the spontaneous healing group (SMD = 1.77, 95%C.I. = 1.47-2.06, p-value < 000.1). There were no differences between the different PCs (L-PRF and P-PRP). CONCLUSION The results of this meta-analysis support the efficacy of the use of PCs in new bone formation in ARP. With respect to the different types of PCs studied, no differences were observed. CLINICAL RELEVANCE When planning implant surgery after tooth extraction, treatment with PCs should be considered for ARP. Any PC increases new bone formation compared to spontaneous healing.

Abstract
In Japan, a legal framework has been established for the safe and effective application of regenerative medicine. After eight years of the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine (RM Act), discussions have been underway in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan to revise the law owing to numerous novel technologies and inappropriate case reports not anticipated when the law was enacted. Therefore, in this review article, we have reviewed the regenerative medicine provision plans and the contribution of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, a regenerative medicine technique widely used in Japan post RM Act implementation, to these plans. As of January 2022, 97.2% of the regenerative medicine provided under the RM Act had been for private practice, and most of them were Class Ⅲ regenerative medicine. Notably, PRP was the most used processed cell under the RM Act. PRP therapy accounted for approximately 66% of the regenerative medicine provision plans in clinical research or private practice and was the most provided regenerative medicine technology in Japan. PRP therapy was primarily used in dentistry to regenerate periodontal tissue (approximately 50%), followed by orthopedics, where it is used to treat osteoarthritis. We suggest that further discussion is essential to determine the factors that should be addressed by the RM act to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PRP therapy.

Abstract
Regenerative medicine, and dentistry offers enormous potential for enhancing treatment results and has been fueled by bioengineering breakthroughs over the previous few decades. Bioengineered tissues and constructing functional structures capable of healing, maintaining, and regenerating damaged tissues and organs have had a broad influence on medicine and dentistry. Approaches for combining bioinspired materials, cells, and therapeutic chemicals are critical in stimulating tissue regeneration or as medicinal systems. Because of its capacity to maintain an unique 3D form, offer physical stability for the cells in produced tissues, and replicate the native tissues, hydrogels have been utilized as one of the most frequent tissue engineering scaffolds during the last twenty years. Hydrogels' high water content can provide an excellent conditions for cell viability as well as an architecture that mimics real tissues, bone, and cartilage. Hydrogels have been used to enable cell immobilization and growth factor application. This paper summarizes the features, structure, synthesis and production methods, uses, new challenges, and future prospects of bioactive polymeric hydrogels in dental and osseous tissue engineering of clinical, exploring, systematical and scientific applications.

Abstract
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) transplantation is an effective treatment for ischemic heart disease, but its effectiveness is limited in aging populations due to decreased viability and injury resistance of autologous BMSCs. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences between platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from young and aged donors, and to investigate whether it is possible to enhance the viability of elderly human BMSCs (hBMSCs) using PRP, and to apply the rejuvenated hBMSCs for the treatment of ischemia. The key growth factors in PRP, including IGF-1, EGF, and PDGF-BB, were found to have significant differences between young and old individuals. Our results showed that PRP could enhance the proliferation, cloning, and rejuvenation of aged hBMSCs, with a superior effect observed when using PRP derived from younger donors. In the SD rat infarct model, the application of hBMSCs optimized with PRP resulted in a smaller infarct area compared to the control group (NC-Old). Specifically, the infarct area in the group treated with hBMSCs cultured with PRP from young donors (YPRP-Old) was smaller than that in the group treated with PRP from older donors (OPRP-Old). The survival rate of hBMSCs after transplantation, the number of neovascularization in the infarct area of SD rats and the recovery of cardiac function were all higher in the YPRP-Old group than the OPRP-Old group, and both groups were better than the group treated with aged hBMSCs alone. In conclusion, PRP may provide a new stem cell transplantation therapy option for ischemic diseases.

Abstract
Background Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a biological product obtained from autologous blood that contains growth factors, promoting the healing and regeneration of human tissues. Several oral diseases require surgical intervention, producing residual wounds that undergo a healing process, accompanied by pain, swelling, superinfections, and bone remodeling. This protocol study aims to evaluate the safety of PRP use for the following dental procedures: post-extraction socket healing, periodontal tissue regeneration, maxillary sinus floor elevation, tooth transplantation, and intentional tooth replantation. Methods Ten patients will be enrolled and subjected to the required treatment with the addition of PRP, after appropriate hematological and biochemical evaluations. The participants will then be subjected to an observation period of 4 weeks to monitor adverse events through clinical observation. Secondary outcomes will regard pain, and clinical evolution of the treated site. Among these, presence of infection, swelling, wound healing, stability of the transplanted tooth. Discussion Safety of medical procedures represents the first requirement for their introduction in routine practice. A careful evaluation of clinical response during follow-up period and registration of adverse effects is fundamental for safety confirmation and subsequent use of PRP for the proposed dental procedures. Abstract
Concentrated growth factors (CGF) is the newest generation platelet concentrate product, which has been reported to promote the proliferation and differentiation of human dental pulp cells (hDPCs). However, the effect of liquid phase of CGF (LPCGF) has not been reported. This study was aimed to evaluate the influence of LPCGF on the biological properties of hDPCs, and to explore the in vivo mechanism of dental pulp regeneration based on the hDPCs-LPCGF complex transplantation. It was found that LPCGF could promote the proliferation, migration and odontogenic differentiation of hDPCs, and 25% LPCGF induced the most mineralization nodule formation and the highest DSPP gene expression. The heterotopic transplantation of the hDPCs-LPCGF complex resulted in the formation of regenerative pulp tissue with newly formed dentin, neovascularization and nerve-like tissue. Together, these findings provide key data on the effect of LPCGF on the proliferation, migration, odontogenic/osteogenic differentiation of hDPCs, and the in vivo mechanism of hDPCs-LPCGF complex autologous transplantation in pulp regeneration therapy.

Abstract
Background Concentrated growth factor (CGF) is a novel biomaterial that can effectively promote tissue growth, but it is uncertain whether adding CGF can product additional effects in the periodontal tissue growth. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of CGF combined with grafting materials versus grafting materials alone for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects. Methods The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine Disc (CBM), Wanfang, and VIP databases were searched from inception date to June 2022. The inclusion criteria were: (I) randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing CGF combined with grafting materials with the single use of grafting materials for the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects, (II) studies providing outcomes of probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment loss (CAL). The literature searches and screening, data extraction, and quality assessment were performed by two reviewers, respectively. The Cochrane bias risk assessment tool was used to assess the quality of the literature. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.0. Results A total of 8 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were obtained, including 150 intrabony defect sites in the combination groups and 153 sites in the control groups. Meta-analysis showed that the combination groups was more effective than the control groups in PD [weighted mean difference (WMD) =-0.73, 95% confidence interval (CI): -0.94, -0.51, P=0.005], CAL (WMD =-0.56, 95% CI: -0.94, -0.19, P=0.003), and bone filling (BF) (WMD =-0.43, 95% CI: -0.65, -0.21, P=0.001), but the difference was not statistically significant between two groups in the change of gingival recession (REC) (WMD =-0.15, 95% CI: -0.44, 0.14, P=0.312). One study presented a high risk of bias due to lost follow-up, and the rest were unclear risk of bias. Conclusions For the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects, our meta-analysis showed that CGF combined with grafting materials was more effective than the use of grafting materials alone. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the average quality of RCTs.

Abstract
Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is used to enhance pregnancy in infertile women. In this technique, the eggs are removed from the ovary and fertilized and injected with sperm to make embryos. Unfortunately, embryo implantation failures still occur in many of these women. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies use a patient's own platelets to promote tissue healing and growth, including endometrium. The growth factors provided by the platelets play a criterial role on the regenerative ability of PRP. In the last years, PRP treatments have been gaining a lot of popularity to treat women with repeated ART failures. In this study, we collected and summarized all information published in the scientific literature to assess the evidence of the PRP effect on pregnancy. We only considered randomized controlled trials (RCT), a type of study designed to be unbiased and considered at the highest level of evidence. Our analysis indicates that PRP therapies might be an effective treatment in cases of poor responsiveness to conventional ART. However, additional studies (well-designed) are necessary to confirm this beneficial effect of PRP.

Abstract
This review summarises the long period in which man has approached nature to understand its powers, and has tried to control it through physical and chemical, and also magical, practices. From the attempt to manage nature to the development of primordial drugs and medical practices and later to achieve modern biomedical science, laboratory practices always played a pivotal role. Over the years and centuries, the laboratory has acquired more and more importance in the improvement of health.In addition to the well-known importance of laboratory medicine in the early diagnosis and appropriateness, the discoveries of the last 50 years have also given the Laboratory a decisive role in regenerative and personalised medicine.This paper examines the evolution of the laboratory and is not meant to be a treatise on the history of medicine. Abstract
Biomimetics is a branch of science that explores the technical beauty of nature. The concept of biomimetics has been brilliantly applied in famous applications such as the design of the Eiffel Tower that has been inspired from the trabecular structure of bone. In dentistry, the purpose of using biomimetic concepts and protocols is to conserve tooth structure and vitality, increase the longevity of restorative dental treatments, and eliminate future retreatment cycles. Biomimetic dental materials are inherently biocompatible with excellent physico-chemical properties. They have been successfully applied in different dental fields with the advantages of enhanced strength, sealing, regenerative and antibacterial abilities. Moreover, many biomimetic materials were proven to overcome significant limitations of earlier available generation counterpart. Therefore, this review aims to spot the light on some recent developments in the emerging field of biomimetics especially in restorative and regenerative dentistry. Different approaches of restoration, remineralisation and regeneration of teeth are also discussed in this review. In addition, various biomimetic dental restorative materials and tissue engineering materials are discussed.

Abstract
Strategies for therapeutic lymphangiogenesis are gradually directed toward the use of growth factor preparations. In particular, blood-derived growth factor products, including Hypoxia Preconditioned Serum (HPS) and Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP), are both clinically employed for accelerating tissue repair and have received considerable attention in the field of regenerative medicine research. In this study, a comparative analysis of HPS and PRP was conducted to explore their lymphangiogenic potential. We found higher pro-lymphangiogenic growth factor concentrations of VEGF-C, PDGF-BB, and bFGF in HPS in comparison to normal serum (NS) and PRP. The proliferation and migration of lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) were promoted considerably with both HPS and PRP, but the strongest effect was achieved with HPS-40% dilution. Tube formation of LECs showed the highest number of tubes, branching points, greater tube length, and cell-covered area with HPS-10%. Finally, the effects were double-validated using an ex vivo lymphatic ring assay, in which the highest number of sprouts and the greatest sprout length were achieved with HPS-10%. Our findings demonstrate the superior lymphangiogenic potential of a new generation blood-derived secretome obtained by hypoxic preconditioning of peripheral blood cells-a method that offers a novel alternative to PRP.
