Abstract
Background: Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HCT) is a potentially curative treatment for hematologic malignancies, including multiple myeloma. Biomarker investigation can guide identification of HCT recipients at-risk for poor outcomes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs involved in the modulation and regulation of pathological processes and are emerging as prognostic and predictive biomarkers for multiple health conditions. This pilot study aimed to examine miRNA profiles associated with HCT-related risk factors and outcomes in patients undergoing autologous HCT. Methods: Patients eligible for autologous HCT were recruited and blood samples and HCT-related variables were collected. Differential expression analysis of miRNA was conducted on 24 patient samples to compare changes in miRNA profile in HCT eligible patients before and after transplant. Results: Unsupervised clustering of differentially expressed (p < .05) miRNAs pre- and post- HCT identified clusters of up- and down-regulated miRNAs. Four miRNAs (miR-125a-5p, miR-99b-5p, miR-382-5p, miR-145-5p) involved in hematopoiesis (differentiation of progenitor cells, granulocyte function, thrombopoiesis, and tumor suppression) were significantly downregulated post-HCT. Correlation analyses identified select miRNAs associated with risk factors (such as frailty, fatigue, cognitive decline) and quality of life pre- and post-HCT. Select miRNAs were correlated with platelet engraftment. Conclusion: Future studies should examine miRNA signatures in larger cohorts in association with HCT outcomes; and expand investigations in patients receiving allogeneic transplants. This will lead to identification of biomarkers for risk stratification of HCT recipients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer treatment-related cognitive impairment (CTRCI) can substantially reduce the quality of life of cancer survivors. Many treatments of CTRCI have been evaluated in randomized controlled trials (RCTs), including psychological interventions, pharmacologic interventions, and other therapies. There is a pressing need to establish the benefits and harms of previously studied CTRCI treatments. The proposed systematic review and network meta-analyses will assess the relative efficacy and safety of competing interventions for the management of CTRCI. METHODS In consultation with the review team, an experienced medical information specialist will draft electronic search strategies for MEDLINE®, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and the Cochrane Trials Registry. We will seek RCTs of interventions for the treatment of CTRCI in adults with any cancer, except cancers/metastases of the central nervous system. Due to the anticipated high search yields, dual independent screening of citations will be expedited by use of an artificial intelligence/machine learning tool. The co-primary outcomes of interest will be subjective and objective cognitive function. Secondary outcomes of interest will include measures of quality of life, mental and physical health symptoms, adherence to treatment, and harms (overall and treatment-related harms and harms associated with study withdrawal), where feasible, random-effects meta-analyses and network meta-analyses will be pursued. We will address the anticipated high clinical and methodological heterogeneity through meta-regressions, subgroup analyses, and/or sensitivity analyses. DISCUSSION The proposed systematic review will deliver a robust comparative evaluation of the efficacy and safety of existing therapies for the management of CTRCI. These findings will inform clinical decisions, identify evidence gaps, and identify promising therapies for future evaluation in RCTs.

Abstract
Importance Psychosocial health services for adults with cancer should include support for cognitive symptoms and symptom clusters. Objective To characterize the frequency and severity of cognitive symptoms and to identify demographic and clinical risk factors associated with moderate to severe cognitive symptoms among outpatient adults with cancer seeking psychosocial support. Design, Setting, and Participants This cross-sectional study analyzed data from routine patient-reported symptom screening during clinic appointments at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2019. Participants were outpatient adults (aged ≥18 years) with diverse cancer diagnoses who endorsed interest in receiving psychosocial support from a health care team member. Data analysis was performed from April 2020 to June 2024. Main Outcomes and Measures The presence and severity of cognitive symptoms as self-rated by participants were characterized across 12 cancer types: brain or central nervous system (CNS), breast, gastrointestinal, head and neck, gynecological, thyroid, lung and bronchus, sarcoma, genitourinary, melanoma, hematological, and all other cancers. Multivariable logistic regression was used to explore the associations between demographic, clinical, and symptom factors and moderate to severe cognitive symptoms. Results Across the sample of 5078 respondents (2820 females [55.5%]; mean [SD] age at time of survey, 56.0 [14.1] years) requesting psychosocial support, 3480 (68.5%) reported cognitive symptoms of any severity, ranging from 59.5% in sarcoma to 86.5% in brain or CNS cancer. Moderate to severe cognitive symptoms were reported by 1544 patients (30.4%), with the proportions being 51.3% for patients with brain or CNS, 37.0% for breast, 36.2% for thyroid, 30.9% for melanoma, 29.6% for head and neck, 28.3% for gastrointestinal, 28.2% for hematological, 28.1% for gynecological, 24.9% for lung and bronchus, 24.9% for sarcoma, 21.0% for genitourinary, and 26.8% for all other cancers. Across the entire sample, moderate to severe cognitive symptoms were associated with recurrence or progression involving the CNS (odds ratio [OR], 2.62; 95% CI, 1.80-3.81), depression (OR, 1.92; 95% CI, 1.59-2.31), tiredness (OR, 1.82; 95% CI, 1.52-2.19), drowsiness (OR, 1.64; 95% CI, 1.39-1.93), anxiety (OR, 1.57; 95% CI, 1.30-1.89), shortness of breath (OR, 1.38; 95% CI, 1.16-1.61), female sex (OR, 1.33; 95% CI, 1.14-1.56), first-line chemotherapy received (OR, 1.22; 95% CI, 1.05-1.41), and metastatic disease at diagnosis (OR, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.61-0.89). Within individual cancer types, tiredness and depression were consistently associated with moderate to severe cognitive symptoms. Conclusions and Relevance This cross-sectional study found that cognitive symptoms were frequently reported by patients across a wide range of cancer types; higher severity of cognitive symptoms was consistently associated with higher symptom burden. The findings could be used to inform decision-making regarding access to cognitive screening, assessment, and supportive care in outpatient oncology clinics.

Abstract
Importance More people are surviving long-term after diagnosis with hematologic malignant neoplasm (HMN), yet there are limited data on cancer-related cognitive impairment in people with HMN. Better understanding cognitive outcomes after HMN in older adults is important for patient counseling and management. Objective To model cognitive trajectories and rates of cognitive decline before and after HMN diagnosis in older adults compared with a matched noncancer cohort. Design, Setting, and Participants In this population-based cohort study, older adults from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) diagnosed with HMN between 1998 and 2016 after age 65 years were matched 1:3 to participants without cancer from the same HRS wave using propensity scores incorporating variables relevant to cognition. Cognitive trajectories were modeled with piecewise linear splines, and rates of cognitive decline before, during, and after diagnosis were compared in the 2 groups. Data were analyzed from April 2022 to April 2024. Exposures HMN diagnosis by Medicare diagnosis codes. Main Outcomes and Measures Cognitive function was assessed by the Langa-Weir cognitive summary score from 1992 to 2020. Sociodemographic and health-related variables relevant to cognition were incorporated into propensity scores. Results At baseline, there were 668 participants in the HMN cohort (mean [SD] age, 76.8 [7.6] years; 343 [51.3%] male; 72 [10.8%] Black, 33 [4.9%] Hispanic, and 585 [87.6%] White) and 1994 participants in the control cohort (mean [SD] age, 76.5 [7.3] years; 1020 [51.2%] male; 226 [11.3%] Black, 91 [4.6%] Hispanic, and 1726 [86.6%] White). The HMN cohort consisted predominantly of more indolent diagnoses, and only 96 patients (14.4%) received chemotherapy. Before and in the 2 years around the time of diagnosis, the HMN and control cohorts had similar rates of cognitive decline. At 1 year postdiagnosis and beyond, the rate of cognitive decline was slower in the HMN cohort (-0.18; 95% CI, -0.23 to -0.14) than in the control group (-0.24; 95% CI, -0.26 to -0.23) (P = .02), but this difference was no longer significant after accounting for the competing risk of death (HMN group, -0.27; 95% CI, -0.34 to -0.19; control group, -0.30; 95% CI, -0.33 to -0.27; P = .48). Conclusions and Relevance In this cohort study of older adults, the HMN and matched noncancer control cohorts had similar rates of cognitive decline before, during, and after diagnosis after accounting for the competing risk of death.

Abstract
Chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR T cells) can induce prolonged remission in a substantial subset of patients with relapse/refractory lymphoma. However, little is known about patients' life after CAR T-cell therapy. We prospectively assessed the multidimensional recovery of lymphoma patients in remission, before leukapheresis, before CAR T-cell infusion, and 3, 6, and 12 months thereafter. Validated tools were used to measure lymphoma-related and global health-related quality of life (HRQoL; Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lymphoma [FACT-Lym] and EQ-5D-5L), cognitive complaint (FACT-Cognition), fatigue (FACIT-Fatigue subscale), psychological status (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Post-Traumatic Check List Scale), and sexuality (Relationship and Sexuality Scale). Beyond 12 months of remission, we also surveyed physical, professional, sexual, and general life status. At 3, 6, and 12 months, 53, 35, and 23 patients were evaluable, respectively. Improvement in lymphoma-related HRQoL was clinically relevant at 3, 6, and 12 months with a mean change from baseline of 10.9 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.8; 16.1), 12.2 (95% CI: 4.2; 20.1), and 11.72 (95% CI: 2.06; 21.38), respectively. Improvement in global HRQoL, fatigue, and anxiety was clinically relevant, but 20%-40% of patients experienced persistent fatigue, psychological distress, and cognitive complaints over time. Beyond 12 months after CAR T cells, 81.8% of 22 evaluable patients were satisfied with their daily life. Physical activity, professional, sexual, and global well-being had returned to prediagnosis levels in nearly half of the patients. We found an improvement in HRQoL after CAR T-cell therapy including anxiety, depression, sexual satisfaction, and general well-being. However, not all patients recover a "normal life." Further research is needed to determine which patients are at risk of quality-of-life impairment to improve recovery after CAR T-cell infusion.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer-related cognitive impairment is common among people diagnosed with and treated for cancer. This can be a distressing and disabling side effect for impacted individuals. Interventions to mitigate cognitive dysfunction are available, but, to date, most have been trialled in samples that are largely or exclusively composed of people with solid tumours. Intervention strategies to support cognitive functioning are needed, but there is a paucity of research in this area. The main aim of this study is to test the feasibility and acceptability of methods and procedures intended for use in a definitive trial of a web-based cognitive rehabilitation programme, Responding to Cognitive Concerns (eReCog), in people who have received chemotherapy for aggressive lymphoma. METHODS AND ANALYSIS The proposed study is a single-site, parallel-group, pilot randomised controlled trial, with one baseline and one follow-up (or postintervention) assessment. 38 people from the target population with low perceived cognitive function based on the Cognitive Change Screen will be recruited from a specialist cancer centre between July 2023 and June 2024. After baseline assessment, participants will be randomised one-to-one to receive usual care only (a factsheet about changes in memory and thinking for people with cancer) or eReCog plus usual care. The 4-week eReCog intervention consists of four online modules offering psychoeducation on cognitive impairment associated with cancer and its treatment, skills training for improving memory, and attention and relaxation training. Study outcomes will include the feasibility of recruitment and retention at follow-up assessment (primary outcomes), as well as adherence to, usability of and intrinsic motivation to engage with eReCog, and compliance with study measures. The potential efficacy of eReCog will also be evaluated. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval was granted by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Human Research Ethics Committee in Victoria, Australia (HREC/97384/PMCC). Study findings will be disseminated via peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, ACTRN12623000705684.

Abstract
PURPOSE There has been little dedicated research on cancer-related cognitive impairment in patients with aggressive lymphoma. We describe and compare patients' cognitive function with that of healthy controls and patients' wellbeing and distress with general population values. We also explore associations between patients' neuropsychological test performance and self-reported cognitive function and distress. METHODS Secondary analysis of data from a feasibility study of 30 patients with newly diagnosed aggressive lymphoma and 72 healthy controls. Patients completed neuropsychological tests and self-report measures before and 6-8 weeks after chemotherapy. Healthy controls completed neuropsychological tests and the FACT-Cog at enrolment and 6 months later. Mixed models were used to analyze neuropsychological test and FACT-Cog scores. One-sample t-tests were used to compare patients' self-reported wellbeing and distress with population norms. Associations were explored with Kendall's Tau b. RESULTS Patients and healthy controls were well matched on socio-demographics. Differences between neuropsychological test scores were mostly large-sized; on average, patients' scores on measures of information processing speed, executive function, and learning and memory were worse both before and after chemotherapy (all p ≤ 0.003). The same pattern was observed for impact of perceived cognitive impairment on quality-of-life (both p < 0.001). Patients' physical and emotional wellbeing scores were lower than population norms both before and after chemotherapy (all p ≤ 0.018). Associations between neuropsychological performance and other measures were mostly trivial (all p > 0.10). CONCLUSION For many patients with aggressive lymphoma, impaired neuropsychological test performance and impact of perceived impairments on quality-of-life precede chemotherapy and are sustained after chemotherapy. Findings support the need for large-scale longitudinal studies with this population to better understand targets for interventions to address cognitive impairments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chemotherapy is essential for treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Previous studies concluded that survivors of cancer who were treated with chemotherapy experience cognitive impairment. Therefore, it is important to understand cognitive function in survivors of AML. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to explore distributions and correlates of cognitive function, and prediction of cognitive function on other outcomes in adults with AML who were treated with chemotherapy. METHODS A health science librarian systematically searched PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and EMBASE databases. Two reviewers independently conducted the title, abstract, and full-text screening. Data were extracted and synthesized based on the aims of the review. RESULTS A total of 10 articles were included. Findings indicate that up to 62.2% of adults with AML experienced impaired cognitive function after starting chemotherapy. Three studies found cognitive function remained stable over time. Education and cytokines were potential correlates of cognitive function. Worse cognitive function may predict lower physical performance and higher mortality, although the results were inconsistent across studies. CONCLUSION Impaired cognitive function was observed in adults with AML who were treated with chemotherapy. However, no study used a validated subjective cognitive-function-specific patient-reported questionnaire, and previous studies focusing on cognitive function included relatively young samples. Hence, further research on cognitive function in older adults with AML is needed. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Because of the high prevalence of cognitive impairment identified, it is important to screen cognitive function in adults with AML who are planning to receive chemotherapy to intervene and provide support earlier.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Treatment of lymphoma can be associated with cognitive challenges, and some patients may fear development of dementia as long-term complication. Studies report a lower risk of dementia after cancer. Some believe this difference to be a protective mechanism of cancer, others believe it to be driven by bias. The risk of developing dementia after lymphoma has not been investigated in a population-based setting. The aim of this study was to identify the risk of being diagnosed with dementia after lymphoma treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS This Danish nationwide matched cohort study included patients aged ≥65 years with a first-time diagnosis of a non-central nervous system lymphoma between 2005 and 2018 in complete remission after treatment with chemotherapy. Patients diagnosed with dementia or treated with dementia medication before lymphoma diagnosis were excluded. Each patient was matched 1:5 on sex, year of birth, and a modified Charlson comorbidity index. Patients and matched comparators were followed from the corresponding patient's date of complete remission. The risk of developing dementia was calculated using cause-specific hazard ratios (HR), and the cumulative risk was estimated by Aalen-Johansen with death as the competing risk. RESULTS A total of 3,244 patients and 16,220 matched comparators were included in the study. There was no difference in risk of all-cause dementia among patients with lymphoma compared to matched comparators with cause-specific HR of 0.85 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.70;1.04). The risk of both Alzheimer's disease and non-Alzheimer's dementia was equal among patients and comparators: HR 0.89 (95% CI: 0.66;1.21) and 0.82 (95% CI: 0.63;1.07), respectively. Stratified by lymphoma subtype, age, or year of diagnosis, the risk of all-cause dementia remained equal among patients and matched comparators. The cumulative risk of all-cause dementia was significantly lower among patients with lymphoma compared to matched comparators (Gray's test p < 0.001), probably reflecting higher mortality in patients with lymphoma. DISCUSSION The risk of all-cause dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and non-Alzheimer's dementia was equal among older patients with lymphoma compared to matched comparators. Our data suggests that risk of developing dementia is not changed after lymphoma treatment.

Abstract
PURPOSE We undertook a scoping review of the literature to synthesize what is known about lymphoma survivorship and develop a comprehensive set of lymphoma-specific survivorship recommendations. METHODS We searched the peer-reviewed literature from January 1995 to April 2022, focused on topics relevant to survivorship care in patients ≥ 18 years of age, treated curatively for non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphoma, and in remission for at least 2 years. RESULTS We retained 92 articles; themes included late effects of treatment (53.3%, 49/92), particularly fatigue and sleep disturbances, and fertility, as well as psychosocial considerations of survivors (27.2%; 25/92), screening for secondary malignancies (22.8%; 21/92), outcomes of interventions to improve survivorship care (10.9%; 10/92), and best practices and elements for survivorship plans (8.7%; 8/92). While there were published guidelines for screening for recurrence and secondary malignancies, despite the considerable number of articles on the psychosocial aspects of survivorship care, there remains limited guidance on screening frequency and management strategies for anxiety and depression, sleep disturbances, and treatment-related fatigue within the lymphoma population. CONCLUSION We have developed a comprehensive set of lymphoma-survivorship recommendations; however, work is needed to adapt them to local healthcare contexts. IMPLICATIONS FOR SURVIVORS While there is a focus in the literature on the long-term psychosocial impacts of cancer and its treatment on lymphoma survivors, there remains no concrete recommendations on effective screening and management of detriments to quality of life such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and distress, and availability of local resources vary widely.

Abstract
Despite the importance of chemotherapy-associated adverse events in oncology practice and the broad range of interventions available to mitigate them, limited systematic efforts have been made to identify, critically appraise and summarize the totality of evidence on the effectiveness of these interventions. Herein, we review the most common long-term (continued beyond treatment) and late or delayed (following treatment) adverse events associated with chemotherapy and other anticancer treatments that pose major threats in terms of survival, quality of life and continuation of optimal therapy. These adverse effects often emerge during and continue beyond the course of therapy or arise among survivors in the months and years following treatment. For each of these adverse effects, we discuss and critically evaluate their underlying biological mechanisms, the most commonly used pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment strategies, and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for their appropriate management. Furthermore, we discuss risk factors and validated risk-assessment tools for identifying patients most likely to be harmed by chemotherapy and potentially benefit from effective interventions. Finally, we highlight promising emerging supportive-care opportunities for the ever-increasing number of cancer survivors at continuing risk of adverse treatment effects.

Abstract
PURPOSE Older survivors of leukemia and lymphoma often experience long-term effects of chemotherapy. We described common concerns related to their cancer and treatment in older survivors of leukemia and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and assessed correlates of these concerns. METHODS We utilized data from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) Life and Longevity After Cancer (LILAC) study that recruited post-menopausal women aged 50-79. Participants diagnosed with leukemia and NHL were included (n = 420). They were asked about 14 areas of current concerns related to their cancer and treatment and to rate each from 0 (no concern) to 2 (major concern), with total scores ranging from 0 to 28. Linear regression was used to assess factors correlated with the concern score, and logistic regression for factors correlated with the three most common concerns. RESULTS Mean age at assessment was 81 years (range 69-99); 72% reported at least one concern, and median concern score among these survivors was 3.5 (Q1-Q3 2-5). Factors significantly correlated with concern scores were sadness, pain, distress, higher prior symptom count, and loneliness (all p < 0.05). Significant factors correlated with common concerns were (1) fatigue/sleep: sadness/depression, distress, higher prior symptom count, greater loneliness, and worse physical functioning; (2) physical functioning/activity: older age, public insurance, higher body mass index, pain, worse QoL, and higher treatment-related comorbidities; (3) memory/concentration: prior chemotherapy or radiation, worse QoL, higher prior symptom count, and greater loneliness (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Almost three-quarters of older survivors of leukemia and lymphoma reported at least one concern; a multifaceted intervention may be needed to address these concerns.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Blood cancers may be potentially cured with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT); however, standard pre-assessments for transplant eligibility do not capture all contributing factors for transplant outcomes. Epigenetic biomarkers predict outcomes in various diseases. This pilot study aims to explore epigenetic changes (epigenetic age and differentially methylated genes) in patients before and after autologous HCT, that can serve as potential biomarkers to better predict HCT outcomes. METHODS This study used a prospective longitudinal study design to compare genome wide DNA methylation changes in 36 autologous HCT eligible patients recruited from the Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant clinic at a designated National Cancer Center. RESULTS Genome-wide DNA methylation, measured by the Illumina Infinium Human Methylation 850K BeadChip, showed a significant difference in DNA methylation patterns post-HCT compared to pre-HCT. Compared to baseline levels of DNA methylation pre-HCT, 3358 CpG sites were hypo-methylated and 3687 were hyper-methylated. Identified differentially methylated positions overlapped with genes involved in hematopoiesis, blood cancers, inflammation and immune responses. Enrichment analyses showed significant alterations in biological processes such as immune response and cell structure organization, however no significant pathways were noted. Though participants had an advanced epigenetic age compared to chronologic age before and after HCT, both epigenetic age and accelerated age decreased post-HCT. CONCLUSION Epigenetic changes, both in epigenetic age and differentially methylated genes were observed in autologous HCT recipients, and should be explored as biomarkers to predict transplant outcomes after autologous HCT in larger, longitudinal studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To investigate the effect of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) chemotherapy on brain glucose metabolism in patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). METHODS Seventy-two patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL underwent FDG PET/CT brain and whole-body scans at baseline (PET0), in the interim of chemotherapy (PET2), and at the end (PET6) of chemotherapy. All three brain scans of each patient were analyzed using statistical parametric mapping software. RESULTS Compared with the PET0 scan, the PET2 and PET6 scans revealed a significantly higher glucose metabolism throughout the whole brain, with the PET6 scan revealing a higher metabolism than the PET2 scan. Patients with a complete response (CR) displayed decreased glucose metabolism in the lingual gyrus and increased glucose metabolism in the pons after chemotherapy compared with the findings in patients with partial responses or progressive disease. CONCLUSIONS Brain glucose metabolism was affected by R-CHOP treatment throughout the entire chemotherapy protocol.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is a recognised adverse consequence of cancer and its treatment. This study assessed the feasibility of collecting longitudinal data on cognition in patients with newly diagnosed, aggressive lymphoma undergoing standard therapy with curative intent via self-report, neuropsychological assessment, peripheral markers of inflammation, and neuroimaging. An exploration and description of patterns of cancer-related cognitive impairment over the course of treatment and recovery was also undertaken and will be reported separately. METHODS Eligible participants completed repeated measures of cognition including self-report and neuropsychological assessment, and correlates of cognition including blood cell-based inflammatory markers, and neuroimaging at three pre-specified timepoints, time 1 (T1) - pre-treatment (treatment naïve), time 2 (T2) - mid-treatment, and time 3 (T3) - 6 to 8 weeks post-completion of treatment. RESULTS 30/33 eligible patients (91%, 95% CI: 76%, 97%) were recruited over 10 months. The recruitment rate was 3 patients/month (95% CI: 2.0, 4.3 patients/month). Reasons for declining included feeling overwhelmed and rapid treatment commencement. Mean age was 57 years (SD = 17 years) and 16/30 (53%) were male. Most patients (20/30, 67%) had diffuse large B cell lymphoma or Hodgkin lymphoma (4/30, 13%). The neuroimaging sub-study was optional, 11/30 participants (37%) were eligible to take part, and all agreed. The remaining 19 participants were ineligible as their diagnostic PET/CT scan was completed prior. Retention and compliance with all assessments were 89 to 100% at all timepoints. Only one participant was withdrawn due to disease progression. CONCLUSIONS Findings from this study including excellent recruitment, retention, and compliance rates demonstrate it is feasible to longitudinally assess cognition in people with newly diagnosed aggressive lymphoma during their initial treatment and recovery to inform the development of future research to improve patient experiences and cognitive outcomes. Abstract
INTRODUCTION Older adults with plasma cell disorders (PCDs) experience cognitive dysfunction that may be attributable to the disease and associated therapies. Yet, this has seldom been reported in the literature. Our objectives were to describe cognitive function (objective and patient-reported) in adults with PCDs and to explore clinical correlates of cognitive impairment. MATERIALS AND METHODS Participants completed a geriatric assessment between March 2018 and February 2020. Cognitive function was evaluated using two objective measures - Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA, cutpoint <26) and Blessed Orientation Memory Concentration Test (BOMC, cutpoint >4) - and two patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures - Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Cognitive Function (PROMIS-CF, cutpoint <45) and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Cognitive Functioning subscale (EORTC-CF, cutpoint <75). Spearman correlations examined relationships among these measures and log binomial regression was used to examine characteristics associated with cognitive impairment, as defined by the MoCA and PROMIS-CF measures. RESULTS Among 86 participants with a mean age of 69 (range: 46-91), the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction was between 20% (BOMC) and 63% (MoCA). There was moderate correlation among objective measures (r = 0.51, p < 0.0001), moderate to high correlation among PRO measures (r = 0.69, p < 0.0001), but no correlation between objective and PRO measures. Factors associated with objective impairment included ≤ high school education (RR 1.46, p = 0.009), living alone (RR 1.42, p = 0.02), relapsed/refractory disease (RR 1.39, p = 0.04), empirically de-intensified induction therapy (RR 1.62, p = 0.008), frailty (RR 1.49, p = 0.04), and peripheral vascular disease (RR 1.54, p = 0.002). Factors associated with PRO impairment included social isolation (RR 3.43, p = 0.003), depression (RR 3.30, p = 0.004) and anxiety (RR 4.43, p = 0.0002), frailty (RR 3.60, p = 0.02), falls in the previous 6 months (RR 2.53, p = 0.02), and deficits in physical function (RR 4.44, p = 0.01). Older age was not associated with either objective or PRO impairment. DISCUSSION Cognitive impairment, using objective and PRO screening measures, was relatively common in adults with PCDs. Cancer-related factors and medical comorbidities were associated with objective cognitive impairment whereas psychosocial and functional factors were associated with PRO impairment.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Nowadays, more than 80% of newly diagnosed classical Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients can be cured and become long-term survivors due to risk and response-adapted treatment strategies. A well-known side effect is cognitive dysfunction that appears in HL patients after chemotherapy. In the present study, we aimed to measure cognitive dysfunction in our HL patients in this study and to find potential correlations between patient-related factors, the signs and symptoms of their diseases, or therapeutic factors. METHODS We carried out a computer-assisted assessment (CANTAB) of cognitive dysfunction in 118 patients. We examined the domains of visual memory, attention, working memory, and planning. RESULTS The median age of 64 females and 54 males at diagnosis was 29 (13-74) and 41 (21-81) years at the completion of CANTAB. Fifty-two percent of all patients showed cognitive impairment. Attention was impaired in 35% of patients, the working memory and planning were impaired in 25%, while visual memory was affected in 22%. All the three functions showed a significant association with inactive employments status. A close correlation was found between visual memory/working memory and planning, higher age at HL diagnosis or the completion of CANTAB test, and disability pensioner status. DISCUSSION Our investigation suggests that patients with inactive employment status and older age require enhanced attention. Their cognitive function and quality of life can be improved if they return to work or, if it is not possible, they receive a cognitive training.

Abstract
Background There has been a cultural shift toward patient engagement in health, with a growing demand from patients to access their results. Objective The Lymphoma Intervention (LIVE) trial is conducted to examine the impact of return of individual patient-reported outcome (PRO) results and a web-based self-management intervention on psychological distress, self-management, satisfaction with information, and health care use in a population-based setting. Methods Return of PRO results included comparison with age- and sex-matched peers and was built into the Patient-Reported Outcomes Following Initial Treatment and Long-Term Evaluation of Survivorship registry. The self-management intervention is an adaptation of a fully automated evidence-based intervention for breast cancer survivors. Patients with lymphoma who completed the web-based questionnaire were equally randomized to care as usual, return of PRO results, and return of PRO results plus self-management intervention. Patients completed questionnaires 9 to 18 months after diagnosis (T0; n=227), 4 months (T1; n=190), 12 months (T2; n=170), and 24 months (T3; n=98). Results Of all invited patients, 51.1% (456/892) responded and web-based participants (n=227) were randomly assigned to care as usual (n=76), return of PRO results (n=74), or return of PRO results and access to Living with lymphoma (n=77). Return of PRO results was viewed by 76.7% (115/150) of those with access. No statistically significant differences were observed for psychological distress, self-management, satisfaction with information provision, and health care use between patients who received PRO results and those who did not (P>.05). Use of the self-management intervention was low (2/76, 3%), and an effect could therefore not be determined. Conclusions Return of individual PRO results seems to meet patients’ wishes but had no beneficial effects on patient outcome. No negative effects were found when individual PRO results were disclosed, and the return of individual PRO results can therefore be safely implemented in daily clinical practice. Abstract
Background Knowledge regarding cognitive problems in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (mNSCLC) is limited. Such problems may include both patient-reported cognitive concerns and demonstrable cognitive impairment. Greater understanding of these outcomes is needed to inform rehabilitation strategies for these difficulties. We aimed to identify the frequency of cognitive problems and associated factors in patients with mNSCLC. Methods In this cross-sectional study, adults with mNSCLC completed validated neuropsychological tests and self-report questionnaires measuring cognitive concerns, neurobehavioral concerns, depression, demoralization, illness intrusiveness, self-esteem, and physical symptoms. Cognitive impairment (performance based) was defined according to International Cancer and Cognition Task Force criteria. Clinically significant cognitive concerns were defined by a score ≥1.5 SD below the normative mean on the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Cognitive Function Perceived Cognitive Impairment (FACT-Cog PCI). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify associated factors. Results Of 238 patients approached, 77 participated (median age: 62 years; range: 37-82). Brain metastases were present in 41 patients (53%), and 23 (29%) received cranial irradiation. Cognitive impairment and cognitive concerns were present in 31 (40%) and 20 patients (26%), respectively. Cognitive impairment and cognitive concerns co-occurred in 10 patients (13%), but their severity was unrelated. Cognitive impairment was associated with cranial irradiation (odds ratio [OR] = 2.89; P = .04), whereas cognitive concerns were associated with greater illness intrusiveness (OR = 1.04; P = .03) and lower self-esteem (OR = 0.86; P = .03). Conclusions Cognitive impairment and cognitive concerns are both common in patients with mNSCLC but are not necessarily related, and their risk factors differ. The association of illness intrusiveness and self-esteem with cognitive concerns can inform therapeutic interventions in this population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) is a potentially curative treatment for hematologic malignancies, with 22 000 HSCTs performed annually in the United States. However, decreased quality of life (QoL) is a frequent and concerning state reported by HSCT recipients. OBJECTIVES We sought to determine if measurements of frailty and cognitive impairment were associated with fatigue and QoL in adult HSCT recipients after autologous HSCT. METHODS Using a longitudinal study design, 32 participants 18 years or older receiving autologous HSCT were recruited from a bone marrow transplant clinic. Each participant completed 2 visits: pre-HSCT and post-HSCT. At each visit, participants completed assessment tools to measure frailty, cognitive impairment, fatigue, and QoL (assesses physical, social/family, emotional, functional, and transplant-related well-being). RESULTS Participants with increased fatigue scores reported decreased QoL pre- and post-HSCT. Participants with increased frailty showed decreased functional well-being before HSCT and showed correlations with decreased physical, social, and transplant-related well-being post-HSCT. As expected, fatigued participants also showed increased frailty post-HSCT. Participants showed significant changes in physical well-being and fatigue between pre-HSCT and post-HSCT visits. CONCLUSION Data analyses from this pilot study show significant correlations between subsets of QoL with fatigue and frailty in autologous HSCT participants pre- and post-HSCT. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Understanding the impact of frailty on fatigue and QoL in HSCT recipients is critical to assist nurses in initiating educational and behavioral interventions to help mitigate the effects of HSCT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer-related cognitive decline (CRCD) is an important clinical problem, but limited research exists on assessment of cognitive function in patients with lymphoma. METHODS The overall objective of this nationwide, prospective, observational study conducted in the National Cancer Institute Community Clinical Oncology Research Program (NCORP) was to assess changes in memory, attention, and executive function in patients with lymphoma from pre- (A1) to postchemotherapy (A2) and to 6 months postchemotherapy (A3). Individuals without cancer served as noncancer controls, paired to patients by age and sex, and assessed at the same time-equivalent points. Longitudinal linear mixed models (LMM) including A1, A2, and A3 and adjusting for age, education, race, sex, cognitive reserve score, baseline anxiety, and depressive symptoms were fit. We assessed changes in patients compared with control participants without cancer and assessed differences in cognitive function in those patients with Hodgkin vs non-Hodgkin disease and by disease subtype. All statistical tests were 2-sided. RESULTS Patients with lymphoma (n = 248) and participants without cancer serving as controls (n = 212) were recruited from 19 NCORP sites. From pre- to postchemotherapy and from prechemotherapy to 6 months follow-up, patients reported more cognitive problems over time compared with controls (Functional Assessment of Cancer-Therapy-Cognitive Function [FACT-Cog] perceived cognitive impairment effect size (ES) = 0.83 and 0.84 for A1 to A2 and A1 to A3, respectively; P < .001; single-item cognitive symptoms ES range = 0.55 to 0.70 inclusive of A1 to A2 and A1 to A3; P < .001); the complaints were more pronounced in women with lymphoma compared with men with lymphoma (FACT-Cog Perceived Cognitive Impairment (PCI) score group-by-time-by-sex interaction, P = .007). Patients with lymphoma also performed statistically significantly less well on tests of verbal memory and delayed recall, attention and executive function, and telephone-based category fluency. CONCLUSION Patients with lymphoma experience worse patient-reported and objectively assessed cognitive function from prechemotherapy to 6-month follow-up compared with age- and sex-paired controls without cancer assessed at similar time intervals.

Abstract
Simple Summary The last 25 years have seen a significant increase in the number of lymphoma survivors. This review was carried out to examine the data currently available on the incidence of some of the consequences most reported by this population: peripheral neuropathy, cognitive impairment, fatigue, and anxiety and depression. This review also investigated any follow-up strategies or monitoring implemented. The 35 articles included in the final analysis provided an idea of what the incidence of these sequelae may be in long-term survivors of classical Hodgkin lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Despite methodological limitations encountered in the literature search, the Authors attempted to summarize the available evidence and provide support to clinical practice. This systematic review represents the basis for designing future studies with a longitudinal trial design and examining more homogeneous populations to assess and monitor these dimensions over time in clinical practice and to respond promptly to the needs of lymphoma survivors. Abstract Background: The continuously improving treatment outcome for classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) over the last 25 years has led to a high number of long-term survivors. The impact of treatment, however, can sometimes be dramatic and long-lasting. Focusing on peripheral neuropathy (PN), cognitive impairment, fatigue, anxiety, and depression, researchers of the Fondazione Italiana Linfomi conducted a systematic review of the literature to collect the available data on sequelae incidence as well as evidence of follow-up strategies for long-term cHL and DLBCL survivors. Methods: The review was carried out under the methodological supervision of the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche “Mario Negri”, Milan, Italy. The literature search was conducted on three databases (MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library) updated to November 2019. The selection process and data extraction were conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Results: A total of 2236 abstracts were screened, 247 full texts were analyzed, and 35 papers were included in the final analysis. Fatigue was the most extensively studied among neuropsychological sequelae, with a mean prevalence among cHL survivors of 10–43%. Although many of the papers showed an increased incidence of PN, cognitive impairment, and anxiety and depression in long-term cHL and DLBCL survivors, no definite conclusions can be drawn because of the methodological limitations of the analyzed studies. No data on monitoring and follow-up strategies of PN and other neuropsychological sequelae were highlighted. Conclusions: Based on our findings, future studies in this setting should include well-defined study populations and have a longitudinal trial design to assess the outcomes of interest over time, thus as to structure follow-up programs that can be translated into daily practice.

Abstract
Simple Summary With the presented study, Fondazione Italiana Linfomi (FIL) researchers want to fill a gap in the literature regarding long-lived lymphoma patients (beyond 5 years after diagnosis). These patients can develop a series of late sequelae that affect their quality of life and overall survival, especially cardiotoxicity and secondary malignancies. In this context, although part of the risk is closely related to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy, some risk factors can be modified through tertiary prevention. There are currently no specific indications for tertiary prevention in the subset of long-term lymphoma survivors. This systematic review conducted by the FIL researchers is aimed at understanding whether there is evidence that correcting unhealthy lifestyles can reduce the onset of late sequelae. Abstract Background: In recent years, the scientific community has been paying ever more attention to the promotion of lifestyles aimed at the prevention of late toxicities related to anti-cancer treatments. Methods: Fondazione Italiana Linfomi (FIL) researchers conducted a systematic review in order to evaluate the evidence in favor of the promotion of lifestyles aimed at the prevention of the main sequelae of long-term classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in survivors treated at adulthood with first-line or second-line therapy, including autologous stem cell transplants (ASCTs). Pubmed, Embase and Cochrane Library were searched up to December 2020. Results: Seven studies were ultimately included in this systematic review; some of them were eligible for multiple PICOS. The majority of the studies emerged from data extraction regarding cHL; less evidence resulted for DLBCL survivors. Five studies in favor of physical activity provided consistent data for a reduction of the cardiovascular risk in cHL and also in survivors who underwent ASCT. A beneficial effect of physical activity in reducing chronic fatigue was found. Being overweight was associated with a higher risk of coronary heart disease in cHL survivors in one of the two eligible studies. Studies aiming to evaluate the impact of the Mediterranean diet on late toxicities and secondary cancers were lacking. Tailored survivorship care plans (SCP) seemed to represent an optimal tool to guide the follow-up and promote healthier lifestyles in the one eligible study. Thus, promotion of healthy lifestyles and empowering of lymphoma survivors should be implemented through structured models. The study also brought to light numerous areas of future clinical research.

Abstract
Objectif : Évaluer la prévalence de la plainte cognitive chez des personnes ayant été traitées pour un lymphome.
Matériel et méthode : Questionnaire diffusé auprès des participants de la Journée mondiale des lymphomes, en septembre 2017 et février 2018.
Résultats : Soixante-deux pour cent des participants (n = 396) rapportaient une plainte cognitive, et 39 % l’attribuaient aux traitements oncologiques reçus. Cinquantequatre pour cent d’entre eux auraient souhaité bénéficier de soins de support adaptés.
Conclusion : Les difficultés cognitives à la suite des traitements oncologiques doivent être mieux connues des professionnels de santé afin de proposer des soins de support adaptés.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this exploratory study was to determine the presence and correlates of self-reported cognition in a sample of haematological cancer patients who had undergone allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT). METHODS Haematological cancer patients (n = 30) who had undergone allogeneic SCT between one and five years previously and age-matched control participants (n = 30) completed questionnaires assessing cognition, affect, sleep quality and fatigue and an assessment of premorbid IQ. RESULTS Patients reported significantly poorer perceived cognitive ability (d = 1.12) and greater perceived cognitive impairment (d = 0.96) than controls. Lower fatigue was significantly associated with greater perceived cognitive ability (r = 0.75 patients and controls) and less perceived cognitive impairment (r = 0.80 patients; r = 0.57 controls). Interestingly, depression was significantly correlated with perceived cognitive ability in the control group only (r = 0.80). Hierarchical multiple regressions showed that fatigue was a significant predictor of perceived cognitive ability in patients, accounting for 56% of the variance. CONCLUSIONS This study established that self-reported cognitive ability and cognitive impairment was significantly poorer in haematological cancer patients than controls. Furthermore, fatigue was significantly associated with perceived cognitive ability in patients. Future research should focus on identifying interventions that target fatigue in allogeneic SCT recipients in order to improve quality of life throughout survivorship.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim was to investigate the level of self-perceived cognitive functioning and its associated factors among a large population-based cohort of cancer survivors and their matched controls. METHODS Data were obtained from population-based PROFILES registry cohorts, including colon, rectum, prostate or thyroid cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia, multiple myeloma (MM), melanoma, or basal cell carcinoma (BCC)/squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). All patients completed the EORTC QLQ-C30 from which self-perceived cognitive functioning, fatigue, functioning, and global health status/quality of life (GHS/QoL) were used. The PROFILES registry data were linked with the Netherlands Cancer Registry to obtain sociodemographic and clinical data. RESULTS Six thousand seven hundred eighty-six survivors were included (response rate=76%). Survivors, except for melanoma and BCC/SCC, reported on average lower self-perceived cognitive functioning scores compared to their matched controls (all p's<0.01). Largest differences with the norm were observed in thyroid cancer, HL, NHL and MM, and younger survivors (<50 years). Survivors with lower emotional functioning and more fatigue were more likely to report impaired self-perceived cognitive functioning. CONCLUSION Self-perceived impaired cognitive functioning is prevalent among a wide range of cancer survivors, especially among survivors <50 years. Approaches targeting cognitive problems including attention for co-occurring symptoms such as fatigue and emotional impairments are needed to improve care for these patients. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Cancer survivors and clinicians should be aware that impaired self-perceived cognitive functioning is a frequently reported consequence of cancer and its treatment among survivors of various cancer types. Clinicians can redirect survivors to a relevant healthcare provider or program to target cognitive problems.

Abstract
Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is commonly experienced by individuals with non-central nervous system cancers throughout the disease and treatment trajectory. CRCI can have a substantial impact on the functional ability and quality of life of patients and their families. To mitigate the impact, oncology providers must know how to identify, assess, and educate patients and caregivers. The objective of this review is to provide oncology clinicians with an overview of CRCI in the context of adults with non-central nervous system cancers, with a particular focus on current approaches in its identification, assessment, and management.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study sought to investigate the prevalence of self-reported cognitive impairment and its relation to illness and treatment characteristics and mental health in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) survivors as cancer-related cognitive impairment has not been extensively studied in lymphoma survivors. METHODS One hundred fifteen HL and DLBCL survivors (mean age = 40.3 years, mean months since completed treatment = 29.6) completed questionnaires on executive function and mental health. We examined the prevalence of executive impairment and compared illness and treatment characteristics and mental health across survivors reporting impaired and non-impaired executive functioning using chi-square, Cochran-Armitage, and Mann-Whitney U tests. RESULTS We found that 39% reported executive impairment. Survivors reporting impaired executive functioning reported worse mental health (ps < .001) than survivors reporting non-impaired executive functioning. A larger proportion of the impaired group had received a high chemo dose compared to the non-impaired group although this result fell short of significance after adjustment for multiple comparisons (p = .017). CONCLUSIONS Self-reported cognitive impairment is prevalent in HL and DLBCL survivors and is associated with worse mental health and possibly high chemo dose. Future studies should investigate objective impairment and the possible dose-response relationship between chemo dose and cognitive impairment in lymphoma survivors.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is a distressing and disabling side-effect of cancer treatments affecting up to 75% of patients. For some patients, their cognitive impairment may be transient, but for a subgroup, these symptoms can be long-standing and have a major impact on the quality of life. This paper describes the protocol for a study: (1) to assess the feasibility of collecting longitudinal data on cognition via self-report, neuropsychological testing, peripheral markers of inflammation and neuroimaging and (2) to explore and describe patterns of cancer-related cognitive impairment over the course of treatment and recovery in patients with newly diagnosed, aggressive lymphoma undergoing standard therapy with curative intent. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This is a prospective, longitudinal, feasibility study in which 30 newly diagnosed, treatment-naive patients with aggressive lymphoma will be recruited over a 12-month period. Patients will complete comprehensive assessments at three time points: baseline (time 1, pre-treatment) and two post-baseline follow-up assessments (time 2, mid-treatment and time 3, 6-8 weeks post-treatment completion). All patients will be assessed for self-reported cognitive difficulties and objective cognitive function using Stroop Colour and Word, Trail Making Test Part A and B, Hopkins Verbal Learning Test-Revised, Controlled Oral Word Association and Digit Span. Blood cell-based inflammatory markers and neuroimaging including a positron emission tomography (PET) with 18F-labelled fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (18F-FDG) and CT (18F-FDG-PET/CT) and a MRI will explore potential inflammatory and neuroanatomical or functional mechanisms and biomarkers related to CRCI. The primary intent of analysis will be to assess the feasibility of collecting longitudinal data on cognition using subjective reports and objective tasks from patients during treatment and recovery for lymphoma. These data will inform the design of a larger-scale investigation into the patterns of cognitive change over the course of treatment and recovery, adding to an underexplored area of cancer survivorship research. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval has been granted by Austin Health Human Rights Ethics Committee (HREC) in Victoria Australia. Peer reviewed publications and conference presentations will report the findings of this novel study. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ACTRN12619001649101).

Cognitive functioning plays a fundamental role in people's life and quality of life (QoL), and anti-cancer chemotherapy may provoke long-lasting cognitive problems. This study investigated the subjective perception of cognitive functioning in long-term lynfoma survivors and its associations with objectively assessed cognitive functioning and QoL. 198 long-term lynfoma survivors were administered the Cognitive Functioning Self-Assessment Scale (CFSS), the Esame Neuropsicologico Breve 2 (ENB2) and the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36). Subjectively reported cognitive functioning was worse than the norm for the general population (p<0.001). Difficulty in recalling recent information (22%), using of periphrases or generic terms (16.7%) and tip-of-the-tongue phenomena (14.7%) were the cognitive difficulties most frequently reported. CFSS overall score correlated positively with the number of impaired performances (p<0.001) and borderline performances (p=0.014) on the ENB2. Both subjectively and objectively assessed cognitive measures correlated negatively with most assessed QoL domains, indicating that QoL is worse when cognitive functioning is poor. Subjective concerns about one's own cognitive functioning are a reality for long-term lynphoma survivors, who experience these worries more than the general population does. Since improving QoL is a priority in oncology, this study supports the use of interventions to improve cognitive functioning in cancer survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Biomarkers of chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) in hematologic cancer are understudied and underdeveloped. We evaluated the feasibility of using ophthalmic and neurophysiologic markers to assess CRCI in hematologic cancer. METHODS Hematologic cancer patients either receiving (Ctx+) or not receiving (Ctx-) chemotherapy were recruited from a tertiary medical center. Demographically-matched healthy controls (HC) were also recruited. Ctx+ participants completed the following study visits: (1) after diagnosis but prior to chemotherapy (baseline); (2) after one treatment cycle (one-month post-baseline); and (3) after three treatment cycles (three-months post-baseline). Comparison subjects completed assessments at similar intervals. Participants completed: (1) neuropsychological assessments of attention and executive function; (2) neurophysiologic assessments of control over spatial attention and working memory; and (3) ophthalmic assessments of contrast sensitivity and optical coherence tomography (OCT). RESULTS We enrolled 45 participants (15 per group), and 30 participants (Ctx+ = 8; Ctx- = 10; HC = 12) completed all study visits. Ctx+ participants performed worse than HC participants on neuropsychological measures of attention and executive function. Both Ctx+ and Ctx- participants showed changes in neurophysiologic measures of control over spatial attention that differed from HC participants. Ctx+ participants showed chemotherapy-related declines in contrast sensitivity that were predicted by OCT retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFL) changes. Changes in neurophysiologic measures of control over spatial attention were also predicted by OCT RNFL changes. CONCLUSION We demonstrated the feasibility of using ophthalmic and neurophysiologic markers as rapid and non-invasive measures that may be useful for tracking CRCI in hematologic cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To compare cognition in a group of older long-term survivors from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) and in a corresponding group of non-cancer controls of the same age. Functional status, polypharmacy and multimorbidity were also evaluated. METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed in a population of 63 outpatient long-term survivors from NHL, aged 65 or more and 61 non-cancer controls. Socio-demographic, clinical and functional data were collected. Cognitive function was assessed through neuropsychological tests. RESULTS NHL survivors showed a slightly worse functional status than controls, they were affected by more chronic conditions (3.4 vs 2.3; p = .003) and were taking a higher number of medications (3.4 vs 2.3; p = .03). The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) was not significantly different between the groups. NHL survivors performed worse than controls in executive functioning (Trail Making Test B-A 47.9 vs 32.1 p = .04, OR for Stroop test time over 75th percentile in survivors: 2.66; CI 95% 1.04-6.61; OR for Multiple Features Target Cancellation time over 75th percentile in survivors: 2.84; CI 95% 1.10-7.31). A small, statistically significant difference was also observed in verbal memory scores between the two groups. . CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study suggest that, compared with non-cancer controls, older survivors from NHL may have a lower cognitive performance, especially in the executive functioning and attention domains, regardless of multimorbidity and polypharmacy. Further evidence from larger samples is needed to confirm such findings and better characterize cognitive decline in NHL survivors.

Abstract
A 65-year-old women was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML; normal cytogenetics, NPM1 mutated, FLT3-ITD wild type). Preinduction screening geriatric assessment (GA) did not reveal any significant deficit, because she was independent of basic activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), had normal cognition, and scored 10 (range 0-12) on the short physical performance battery (SPPB). She underwent standard 7 + 3 induction and achieved a complete remission, although her course was complicated by neutropenic sepsis and bacteremia. She is being evaluated for postremission therapy. Would you recommend a follow-up GA at this time?

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to characterize post-chemotherapy sensory, memory, and attention abilities in childhood survivors of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) to better understand how treatment affects cognitive functioning. Methods: Eight ALL survivors and eight age-matched, healthy children between the ages of 5-11 years participated in the study. Among the ALL survivors, a median of 63 days (range 22-267 days) elapsed between completion of chemotherapy and this assessment. Sounds were presented in an oddball paradigm while recording the electroencephalogram in separate conditions of passive listening and active task performance. To assess different domains of cognition, we measured event-related brain potentials (ERPs) reflecting sensory processing (P1 component), working memory (mismatch negativity [MMN] component), attentional orienting (P3a), and target detection (P3b component) in response to the sounds. We also measured sound discrimination and response speed performance. Results: Relative to control subjects, ALL survivors had poorer performance on auditory tasks, as well as decreased amplitude of the P1, MMN, P3a, and P3b components. ALL survivors also did not exhibit the amplitude gain typically observed in the sensory P1 component when attending to the sound input compared to when passively listening. Conclusions: Atypical responses were observed in brain processes associated with sensory discrimination, auditory working memory, and attentional control in pediatric ALL survivors indicating deficiencies in all cognitive domains compared to age-matched controls. Significance: ERPs differentiated aspects of cognitive functioning, which may provide a useful tool for assessing recovery and risk of post-chemotherapy cognitive deficiencies in young children. The decreased MMN amplitude in ALL survivors may indicate (N-methyl D-aspartate) NMDA dysfunction induced by methotrexate, and thus provides a potential therapeutic target for chemotherapy-associated cognitive impairments.

Abstract
Hodgkin lymphoma is a highly curable disease with a peak incidence in young adulthood at times where education, family, and social relations are established. We performed a systematic literature review to assess the impact of Hodgkin lymphoma on the socioeconomic status of adolescent and adult survivors (including educational achievements, occupational aspects, marriage, and parenthood). In total, 39 articles were included. Overall, 26-36% of survivors perceived Hodgkin lymphoma as negatively affecting their socioeconomic status. Studies consistently found educational achievements in line with general population. Employment rates for survivors were comparable to the general population, but lower than before Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis, with a post-diagnosis increase in disability pension and early retirement. Employed survivors encountered problems related to physical restrictions and recruitment. Marriage and parenthood were not substantially affected. In conclusion, current studies suggest acceptable socioeconomic outcomes following a Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis but the use of standardized reporting methods hampers comparability across studies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Neuroimaging studies of hematologic cancer patients report altered activity in dorsal attention and central executive networks. To determine the consequences of these altered brain networks, we evaluated neurophysiological correlates of attention and working memory in hematologic cancer patients prior to initiating treatment. METHODS Hematologic cancer patients (19-80 years) were excluded for premorbid cognitive impairment, prior non-hematologic cancer diagnosis, and prior chemotherapy. Attention was manipulated by presenting an irrelevant spatial cue prior to visual search displays. Working memory was manipulated by presenting irrelevant distractors within memory displays. Electroencephalogram was recorded during task performance. RESULTS Patients (n = 28) and controls (n = 15) were balanced on age, gender, and education. Spatial cues evoked larger N2pc amplitudes, a correlate of spatial attention, in patients than controls (p < .05; Cohen's d > 0.7). Memory distractors evoked larger contralateral delay activity amplitudes, a correlate of working memory load, in patients (p = .028; Cohen's d = 1.1) but not controls (p = .64). CONCLUSIONS Prior to initiating treatment, hematologic cancer patients demonstrated poor control over spatial attention and working memory, consistent with altered dorsal attention and central executive network activity. SIGNIFICANCE Hematologic cancer patients may be at a higher risk for selecting, processing, and storing distracting information that would compete with more immediate goal-related behaviors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neurocognitive deficits are common after childhood cancer and impact academic performance. Parents need to be knowledgeable of long-term complications impacting school and the resources necessary to support educational achievement. The oncology team plays an important role in preparing parents for the challenges of returning to school after treatment. METHODS An online survey developed by parents and stakeholders was used to assess parent experiences and preferences associated with oncology team support around neurocognitive deficits and school transition. Recruitment included social media sites, foundation contacts, and clinic/event flyers. Topics included information content, timing, and frequency of information; and utility or perceived value of information. Inclusion criteria included respondent identifying as a parent (caregiver) of child treated for cancer who has returned to school. RESULTS Surveys from 203 parents were completed representing diverse geographic locations. Nearly half (48%) did not recall receiving information about neurocognitive deficits. The most frequently reported time to receive this information was at diagnosis, but parents reported a need for conversations throughout the cancer trajectory, especially at transition to survivorship and school reentry. In addition, half of the parents (51%) felt inadequately prepared for the return to school. Information about neuropsychological testing, resources for learning difficulties, educational terms, and legal rights related to school services were the topics most inadequately provided. CONCLUSIONS Parents feel inadequately prepared by their oncology team for their child's return to school. Research is needed to identify effective oncology team approaches to fill the gaps in knowledge around school reentry after cancer treatment.

Abstract
Nearly three out of four survivors experience Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment (CRCI) for months or years following treatment. Both clinical and animal studies point to the hippocampus as a likely brain region affected in CRCI, however no previous study has investigated the functional connectivity of the hippocampus in CRCI. We compared hippocampal connectivity in cancer survivors and healthy controls and tested the relationship between functional connectivity differences and measures of objective and subjective cognition. Exploratory analysis of inflammatory markers was conducted in a small subset of participants as well. FMRI data were acquired during a memory task from 16 breast cancer survivors and 17 controls. The NIH Toolbox was used to assess cognitive performance and Neuro-QoL was used to measure self-reported cognitive concerns. Whole-brain group-level comparisons identified clusters with different connectivity to the hippocampus in survivors versus controls during task. Average connectivity was extracted from clusters of significant difference between the groups and correlated with cognitive performance and subjective report. Survivors performed worse on a test of episodic memory and reported greater cognitive concern than controls. Exploratory analysis found higher IL6 in cancer survivors compared to controls. Cancer survivors demonstrated higher connectivity of hippocampus with left cuneus, left lingual, left precuneus, and right middle prefrontal gyrus compared with controls. In survivors, higher task-related hippocampal-cortical connectivity was related to worse subjective measures of cognitive concern. Of the four significant clusters, higher connectivity of the precuneus with hippocampus was significantly associated with worse cognitive concern in survivors. The observed greater hippocampal-cortical connectivity in survivors compared to controls is the first reported fMRI biomarker of subjective concern, and may represent a compensatory response to cancer and its treatments. This compensation could explain, in part, the subjective feelings of cognitive impairment that were reported by survivors. Abstract
Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is commonly reported post-chemotherapy in adults with solid tumours. Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) mostly affects young adults. Data regarding CRCI in HL survivors (HLS) are scarce. The current study aimed to objectively assess CRCI incidence and characteristics in HLS. HLS, who completed first-line (chemotherapy ± radiation) therapy and remained in complete remission for 6 months to 5 years from therapy end, were evaluated. Age- and education-matched healthy individuals served as controls (n = 14). Test results were compared to population norms and healthy controls. Study participants completed self-reported questionnaires evaluating fatigue, depression, anxiety, quality of life and cognitive function. Subjects underwent neurocognitive evaluation, assessing processing speed, memory, attention, executive functions and intelligence domains. The present study included 51 HLS with a median age of 28 years, mean education of 14·5 ± 2·5 years. Complaints related to cognitive deterioration and fatigue were significantly more severe and frequent in HLS compared to healthy controls. Objective neurocognitive evaluation demonstrated that 30% of HLS were impaired in ≥2 cognitive domains. In conclusion, the present study demonstrates that fatigue and cognitive impairment, predominantly in executive functions and memory, constitute frequent and alarming findings in HLS. These adverse effects can persist and exert an impact on all aspects of life.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) can have detrimental effects on quality of life, even among patients with non-central nervous system (CNS) cancers. Several studies have been conducted to explore different markers associated with CRCI to understand its pathobiology. It is proposed that the underlying mechanisms of CRCI are related to a cascade of physiological adaptive events in response to cancer and/or treatment. Hence, peripheral blood would be a logical source to observe and identify these physiological events. This paper outlines the protocol for a scoping review being conducted to summarise the extant literature regarding blood-based biomarkers of CRCI among patients with non-CNS cancer. METHODS/ANALYSIS Methods will be informed by the updated guidelines of Arksey and O'Malley. The systematic search for literature will include electronic databases, handsearching of key journals and reference lists, forward citation tracking and consultation with content experts. Study selection will be confirmed by duplicate review and calculation of inter-rater reliability. Data to be charted will include study design, sample size, cancer and treatment characteristics, demographic characteristics, cognitive variable/s and biomarkers assessed, associations between cognitive functioning and biomarkers (including statistics used), and rigour in biomarker sample collection and processing. Results will be presented through: (1) a descriptive numerical summary of studies, including a flow diagram based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses statement, (2) a list of blood-based biomarkers associated with CRCI and (3) a narrative overview developed through collaboration among the research team and consultation with content experts. DISSEMINATION The findings of this review will highlight current directions and gaps in the current body of evidence that may lead to improved rigour in future CRCI investigations. The dissemination of this work will be facilitated through the involvement of clinicians and researchers on the research team, an external consultation process and the presentation of the results through scholarly publication and presentation.

Abstract
Background Providing feedback to patients on their patient-reported outcomes (PROs) can help patients in monitoring their functioning and symptoms and may help empower them. Objective The objective of this study was to investigate whether patients with lymphoma wished to receive PRO feedback, including the option to compare their scores with those of their peers, and how this feedback was evaluated. Methods We invited 64 patients participating in a lymphoma cohort who were eligible for a follow-up questionnaire and gave them the option to receive PRO feedback. Patients completed questions about health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and symptoms. PRO feedback was provided via bar charts. Results Of the 64 invited patients, 45 participated (response rate 70%) and 36 of those (80%) wished to receive PRO feedback. The vast majority (34/36, 94%) compared their scores with those of a lymphoma reference cohort, and 64% (23/36) compared their score with those of a normative population without cancer. All patients wished to receive feedback on their HRQoL, and 29 (81%) to 33 (92%) wanted feedback on their functioning, fatigue, neuropathy, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Of the 36 participants wishing to receive PRO feedback, 35 (97%) viewed it as being useful, with reassurance and knowledge about their own functioning in relation to what is “normal” being the most frequently mentioned reasons. Conclusions A high number of patients with lymphoma wished to receive PRO feedback. Patients reported the comparison of their scores versus a lymphoma reference cohort as most valuable. Further research should investigate whether PRO feedback could increase empowerment and possibly improve HRQoL.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Acute and chronic leukemias are heterogeneous diseases and can affect any part of the body upon initial discovery. Understanding the sequela of systemic involvement is key for proper diagnosis and treatment. RECENT FINDINGS Over the decades, new research has emerged regarding neurological complications of the myeloid or lymphoid leukemias. Central nervous system involvement usually confers a poor prognosis and requires emergent treatment. Standard of care still involves systemic therapy, intrathecal administration of chemotherapeutic agents, and cranial radiation. Treatment-related side effects can occur and need to be recognized by any practitioner involved with patient care. It is imperative to understand neurologic complications from leukemia to prevent delays and initiate necessary treatment to maintain neurologic and cognitive function.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Despite the well-known negative impacts of cancer and anticancer therapies on cognitive performance, little is known about the cognitive compensatory processes of older patients with cancer. This study was designed to investigate the cognitive compensatory processes of older, clinically fit patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy. METHODS We assessed 89 consecutive patients (age ≥ 65 y) without severe cognitive impairment and 89 age-, sex-, and education level-matched healthy controls. Cognitive compensatory processes were investigated by (1) comparing cognitive performance of patients and healthy controls in novel (first exposure to cognitive tasks) and non-novel (second exposure to the same cognitive tasks) contexts, and (2) assessing psychological factors that may facilitate or inhibit cognitive performance, such as motivation, psychological distress, and perceived cognitive performance. We assessed cognitive performance with the Trail-Making, Digit Span and FCSR-IR tests, psychological distress with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and perceived cognitive performance with the FACT-Cog questionnaire. RESULTS In novel and non-novel contexts, average cognitive performances of healthy controls were higher than those of patients and were associated with motivation. Cognitive performance of patients was not associated with investigated psychological factors in the novel context but was associated with motivation and psychological distress in the non-novel context. CONCLUSIONS Older, clinically fit patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy demonstrated lower cognitive compensatory processes compared to healthy controls. Reducing distress and increasing motivation may improve cognitive compensatory processes of patients in non-novel contexts.
