Abstract
Globally, burns are a significant cause of injury that can cause substantial acute trauma as well as lead to increased incidence of chronic comorbidity and disease. To date, research has primarily focused on the systemic response to severe injury, with little in the literature reported on the impact of nonsevere injuries (<15% total burn surface area; TBSA). To elucidate the metabolic consequences of a nonsevere burn injury, longitudinal plasma was collected from adults (n = 35) who presented at hospital with a nonsevere burn injury at admission, and at 6 week follow up. A cross-sectional baseline sample was also collected from nonburn control participants (n = 14). Samples underwent multiplatform metabolic phenotyping using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to quantify 112 lipoprotein and glycoprotein signatures and 852 lipid species from across 20 subclasses. Multivariate data modeling (orthogonal projections to latent structures-discriminate analysis; OPLS-DA) revealed alterations in lipoprotein and lipid metabolism when comparing the baseline control to hospital admission samples, with the phenotypic signature found to be sustained at follow up. Univariate (Mann-Whitney U) testing and OPLS-DA indicated specific increases in GlycB (p-value < 1.0e-4), low density lipoprotein-2 subfractions (variable importance in projection score; VIP > 6.83e-1) and monoacyglyceride (20:4) (p-value < 1.0e-4) and decreases in circulating anti-inflammatory high-density lipoprotein-4 subfractions (VIP > 7.75e-1), phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylglycerols, phosphatidylinositols, and phosphatidylserines. The results indicate a persistent systemic metabolic phenotype that occurs even in cases of a nonsevere burn injury. The phenotype is indicative of an acute inflammatory profile that continues to be sustained postinjury, suggesting an impact on systems health beyond the site of injury. The phenotypes contained metabolic signatures consistent with chronic inflammatory states reported to have an elevated incidence postburn injury. Such phenotypic signatures may provide patient stratification opportunities, to identify individual responses to injury, personalize intervention strategies, and improve acute care, reducing the risk of chronic comorbidity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Apoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) and Apoprotein B (ApoB) have emerged as novel cardiovascular risk biomarkers influenced by feeding behavior. Hypothalamic appetite peptides regulate feeding behavior and impact lipoprotein levels, which effects vary in different weight states. This study explores the intricate relationship between body mass index (BMI), hypothalamic appetite peptides, and apolipoproteins with emphasis on the moderating role of body weight in the association between neuropeptide Y (NPY), ghrelin, orexin A (OXA), oxytocin in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and peripheral ApoA-I and ApoB. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, we included participants with a mean age of 31.77 ± 10.25 years, categorized into a normal weight (NW) (n = 73) and an overweight/obese (OW/OB) (n = 117) group based on BMI. NPY, ghrelin, OXA, and oxytocin levels in CSF were measured. RESULTS In the NW group, peripheral ApoA-I levels were higher, while ApoB levels were lower than in the OW/OB group (all p < 0.05). CSF NPY exhibited a positive correlation with peripheral ApoA-I in the NW group (r = 0.39, p = 0.001). Notably, participants with higher CSF NPY levels had higher peripheral ApoA-I levels in the NW group and lower peripheral ApoA-I levels in the OW/OB group, showing the significant moderating effect of BMI on this association (R2 = 0.144, β=-0.54, p < 0.001). The correlation between ghrelin, OXA and oxytocin in CSF and peripheral ApoB in both groups exhibited opposing trends (Ghrelin: r = -0.03 and r = 0.04; OXA: r = 0.23 and r=-0.01; Oxytocin: r=-0.09 and r = 0.04). CONCLUSION This study provides hitherto undocumented evidence that BMI moderates the relationship between CSF NPY and peripheral ApoA-I levels. It also reveals the protective role of NPY in the NW population, contrasting with its risk factor role in the OW/OB population, which was associated with the at-risk for cardiovascular disease.

Abstract
Background and purpose Ischemic stroke (IS) is classified into clinical subtypes and likely influenced by various lipid components. Nevertheless, the roles of apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I), apolipoprotein B (apoB), and apoB/apoA-I ratio in different IS subtypes remain underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the differential distribution of plasma apoA-I and apoB levels among IS subtypes and to evaluate the predictive value of the apoB/apoA-I ratio in assessing IS subtypes and disease severity. Methods In this study, 406 IS patients were categorized into three IS-subtypes based on clinical manifestations and imaging assessment, including intracranial atherosclerosis-related IS patients (ICAS, n = 193), extracranial atherosclerosis-related IS patients (ECAS, n = 111), and small artery occlusion-related IS patients (SAO, n = 102). Plasma apoA-I and apoB levels were measured upon hospital admission. Random forest (RF) models were performed to assess predictive values of these apolipoproteins apoB, apoA-I and their ratio in assessing IS subtype stratification and disease severity. Results Serum apoA-I levels were significantly lower in ICAS compared to ECAS and SAO patients (p < 0.0001), while apoB levels were higher in ICAS patients (p < 0.0001). The apoB/apoA-I ratio was significantly higher in ICAS compared to ECAS and SAO patients (p < 0.0001). Correlation analyses found a significant correlation between the apoB/apoA-I ratio and conventional lipid components. Additionally, RF models and plots of variable importance and distribution of minimal depth revealed that the apoB/apoA-I ratio played the most influential predictor in predicting IS subtypes and stenosis severity. Conclusion Our study shows the differential distribution of apoA-I and apoB IS subtypes and reveals the significance of the apoB/apoA-I ratio in assessing IS subtypes and arterial stenosis severity. Further studies are warranted to validate these findings and enhance their clinical applicability.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study investigated the possible relationship between the Apo lipoprotein A1 /high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (ApoA1/HDL-C) ratio and coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). METHODS This was a matched case-control study of 482 patients with T2D in two groups of CAD and (n = 241) non-CAD (n = 241). The patients were classified into four quartiles according to the ApoA1/HDL-C ratio, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the relationship between ApoA1/HDL-C and CAD. ROC analysis was also conducted. RESULTS This study showed that the ApoA1/HDL-C ratio has an independent association with CAD in individuals with T2D. The CAD group exhibited a significantly higher ApoA1/HDL-C ratio than those without CAD (p-value = 0.004). Moreover, the risk of CAD increased significantly across the ApoA1/HDL-C ratio quartiles, with the highest odds in the fourth quartile. The second quartile showed an odds ratio (OR) of 2.03 (p-value = 0.048) compared to the first. Moving to the third quartile, the OR increased to 2.23 (p-value = 0.023). The highest OR was noted in the fourth, reaching 3.41 (p-value = 0.001). Employing a cut-off value of 2.66 and an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.885, the ApoA1/HDL-C ratio predicts CAD among patients with T2D with a sensitivity of 75% and a specificity of 91% (p-value < 0.001). CONCLUSION The current study revealed an independent association between ApoA1/HDL-C ratio and CAD in patients with T2D. This ratio can be a promising tool for predicting CAD during the follow-up of patients with T2D, aiding in identifying those at higher risk for CAD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prediabetes is defined as a hyperglycemic state between normal glucose metabolism and diabetes mellitus. It is also recognized as a predisposing factor for cardiovascular disease. Apolipoprotein is a constituent of lipoproteins, and its ratio levels (ApoB/ApoA1 ratio) are considered an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the apolipoprotein ratio (ApoB/ApoA1 ratio) and lipoprotein ratio (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C/HDL-C) ratio) in prediabetes in relation to glycemic levels and establish the association between apolipoprotein and lipoprotein ratios in prediabetic individuals and their glycemic levels. METHODOLOGY A case-control study was conducted among 150 participants, 75 with prediabetes and 75 apparently healthy individuals (with no prediabetes or diabetes), from January 1, 2023 to December 30, 2023. The parameters involved are fasting serum glucose, insulin, blood HbA1c%, HDL-C, LDL-C, apolipoprotein A, apolipoprotein B, and lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)), measured using different principles. RESULTS Prediabetes was more predominant in males (58.7%), particularly those aged over 40 years (74.7%). The mean Lp(a) (46.18±11.66 mg/dl), LDL-C/HDL-C ratio (1.74±0.96), and ApoB/ApoA ratio (1.10±0.62) were significantly higher among prediabetic individuals. Moreover, these ratios were insignificantly higher in prediabetic individuals with HbA1c level (5.8-6.4%) and fasting glucose level (100-125 mg/dl) than those with lower levels. CONCLUSIONS Prediabetic individuals exhibited a notably elevated average level of Lp(a), as well as increased mean ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and mean LDL-C/HDL-C ratio compared to individuals who were apparently healthy.

Abstract
Objectives Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a constellation of coexisting cardiovascular risk factors. This study aimed to assess the evidence for the association between the apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio, apolipoprotein B, and apolipoprotein A1, and the MetS in children and adolescents. Methods The English electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched up to February 28, 2022. To ascertain the validity of eligible studies, modified JBI scale was used. Standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were pooled using the random-effects model to evaluate the association between the apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio, apolipoprotein B, and apolipoprotein A1 and the MetS. Heterogeneity amongst the studies was determined by the use of the Galbraith diagram, Cochran's Q-test, and I2 test. Publication bias was assessed using Egger's and Begg's tests. Results From 7356 records, 5 studies were included in the meta-analysis, representing a total number of 232 participants with MetS and 1320 participants as control group. The results indicated that increased levels of apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio (SMD 1.26; 95% CI: 1.04, 1.47) and apolipoprotein B (SMD 0.75; 95% CI: 0.36, 1.14) and decreased levels of apolipoprotein A1 (SMD -0.53; 95% CI: -0.69, -0.37) are linked to the presence of MetS. The notable findings were, children and adolescents with MetS had elevated levels of the apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio, apolipoprotein B, and decreased levels of apolipoprotein A1. Conclusions Our results suggest the need to evaluate the levels of apolipoproteins for detecting the risk of MetS in children and adolescents. Abstract
The aim of this study was to establish whether multiple blood parameters might predict an early treatment response to intravitreal bevacizumab injections in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME). Seventy-eight patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and DME were included. The treatment response was evaluated with central macular thickness decrease and best corrected visual acuity increase one month after the last bevacizumab injection. Parameters of interest were the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), vitamin D, and apolipoprotein B to A-I ratio (ApoB/ApoA-I). The NLR (2.03 ± 0.70 vs. 2.80 ± 1.08; p < 0.001), MLR (0.23 ± 0.06 vs. 0.28 ± 0.10; p = 0.011), PLR (107.4 ± 37.3 vs. 135.8 ± 58.0; p = 0.013), and SII (445.3 ± 166.3 vs. 675.3 ± 334.0; p < 0.001) were significantly different between responder and non-responder groups. Receiver operator characteristics analysis showed the NLR (AUC 0.778; 95% CI 0.669-0.864), PLR (AUC 0.628; 95% CI 0.511-0.735), MLR (AUC 0.653; 95% CI 0.536-0.757), and SII (AUC 0.709; 95% CI 0.595-0.806) could be predictors of response to bevacizumab in patients with DME and NPDR. Patients with severe NPDR had a significantly higher ApoB/ApoA-I ratio (0.70 (0.57-0.87) vs. 0.61 (0.49-0.72), p = 0.049) and lower vitamin D (52.45 (43.10-70.60) ng/mL vs. 40.05 (25.95-55.30) ng/mL, p = 0.025). Alterations in the NLR, PLR, MLR, and SII seem to provide prognostic information regarding the response to bevacizumab in patients with DME, whilst vitamin D deficiency and the ApoB/ApoA-I ratio could contribute to better staging.

Abstract
AIM Perinatal hypercholesterolemia exacerbates the development of atherosclerotic plaques in adult offspring. Here, we aimed to study the effect of maternal treatment with cholestyramine, a lipid-lowering drug, on atherosclerosis development in adult offspring of hypercholesterolemic ApoE-deficient (ApoE-/-) mice. METHODS ApoE-/- mice were treated with 3% cholestyramine (CTY) during gestation (G). After weaning, offspring (CTY-G) were fed control diet until sacrificed at 25weeks of age. Atherosclerosis development in the aortic root of offspring was assessed after oil-red-o staining, along with some of predefined atherosclerosis regulators such as LDL and HDL by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and bile acids (BA) and trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). RESULTS In pregnant dams, cholestyramine treatment resulted in significantly lower plasma total- and LDL-cholesterol as well as gallbladder total BA levels. In offspring, both males and females born to treated dams displayed reduced atherosclerotic plaques areas along with less lipid deposition in the aortic root. No significant change in plasma total cholesterol or triglycerides was measured in offspring, but CTY-G males had increased HDL-cholesterol and decreased apolipoproteins B100 to A-I ratio. This latter group also showed reduced gallbladder total and specifically tauro-conjugated bile acid pools, whereas for CTY-G females, hydrophilic plasma tauro-conjugated BA pool was significantly higher. They also benefited from lower plasma TMAO. CONCLUSION Prenatal cholestyramine treatment reduces atherosclerosis development in adult offspring of ApoE-/- mice along with modulating the plaques' composition as well as some related biomarkers such as HDL-C, bile acids and TMAO.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the role of resting magnetocardiography in identifying severe coronary artery stenosis in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. METHODS A total of 513 patients with angina symptoms were included and divided into two groups based on the extent of coronary artery disease determined by angiography: the non-severe coronary stenosis group (< 70% stenosis) and the severe coronary stenosis group (≥ 70% stenosis). The diagnostic model was constructed using magnetic field map (MFM) parameters, either individually or in combination with clinical indicators. The performance of the models was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV). Calibration plots and decision curve analysis were performed to investigate the clinical utility and performance of the models, respectively. RESULTS In the severe coronary stenosis group, QR_MCTDd, S_MDp, and TT_MAC50 were significantly higher than those in the non-severe coronary stenosis group (10.46 ± 10.66 vs. 5.11 ± 6.07, P < 0.001; 7.2 ± 8.64 vs. 4.68 ± 6.95, P = 0.003; 0.32 ± 57.29 vs. 0.26 ± 57.29, P < 0.001). While, QR_MVamp, R_MA, and T_MA in the severe coronary stenosis group were lower (0.23 ± 0.16 vs. 0.28 ± 0.16, P < 0.001; 55.06 ± 48.68 vs. 59.24 ± 53.01, P < 0.001; 51.67 ± 39.32 vs. 60.45 ± 51.33, P < 0.001). Seven MFM parameters were integrated into the model, resulting in an area under the curve of 0.810 (95% CI: 0.765-0.855). The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy were 71.7%, 80.4%, 93.3%, 42.8%, and 73.5%; respectively. The combined model exhibited an area under the curve of 0.845 (95% CI: 0.798-0.892). The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy were 84.3%, 73.8%, 92.6%, 54.6%, and 82.1%; respectively. Calibration curves demonstrated excellent agreement between the nomogram prediction and actual observation. The decision curve analysis showed that the combined model provided greater net benefit compared to the magnetocardiography model. CONCLUSIONS The novel quantitative MFM parameters, whether used individually or in combination with clinical indicators, have been shown to effectively predict the risk of severe coronary stenosis in patients presenting with angina-like symptoms. Magnetocardiography, an emerging non-invasive diagnostic tool, warrants further exploration for its potential in diagnosing coronary heart disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Apolipoprotein (apo) levels are associated with coronary risk. However, the relationship between apo levels after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and long-term major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between lipid levels, including apo, at follow-up, and long-term MACEs in patients undergoing PCI. METHODS/MATERIALS In total, 241 patients who underwent PCI between January 2004 and August 2008 were included in this study. MACEs were defined as cardiac death, acute coronary syndrome, or coronary revascularization of new lesions. The primary endpoint was MACE, and the secondary endpoint was a composite of cardiac death and acute coronary syndrome. RESULTS During a mean follow-up period of 2079 days, the following cardiovascular events occurred in 78 patients: cardiovascular death (n = 1), non-fatal acute myocardial infarctions (n = 10), and revascularizations of new lesions (n = 67). Multivariate cox's proportional hazards analysis showed that the apo B level was an independent risk factor for MACEs (hazard ratio 1.11, 95 % confidence interval 1.03-1.20; P = 0.009). In the Kaplan-Meier estimation for primary endpoints, significant differences were observed in the apo B level and apo B/apo A1 ratio (P = 0.04 and P = 0.004, respectively). However, there was no difference in the LDL-C level and LDL-C/HDL-C ratio. At the secondary endpoint, only the apo B/apo A1 ratio was a prognostic factor (P = 0.007). CONCLUSIONS In the long-term cardiovascular events of patients undergoing PCI, the apo B level and apo B/apo A1 ratio were more valuable prognostic factors for cardiovascular events compared to the LDL-C level and LDL-C/HDL-C ratio.

Abstract
Given that ketogenic diets (KDs) are extremely high in dietary fat, we compared different fats in KDs to determine which was the best for cancer prevention. Specifically, we compared a Western and a 15% carbohydrate diet to seven different KDs, containing either Western fats or fats enriched in medium chain fatty acids (MCTs), milk fat (MF), palm oil (PO), olive oil (OO), corn oil (CO) or fish oil (FO) for their ability to reduce nicotine-derived nitrosamine ketone (NNK)-induced lung cancer in mice. While all the KDs tested were more effective at reducing lung nodules than the Western or 15% carbohydrate diet, the FO-KD was most effective at reducing lung nodules. Correlating with this, mice on the FO-KD had low blood glucose and the highest β-hydroxybutyrate level, lowest liver fatty acid synthase/carnitine palmitoyl-1a ratio and a dramatic increase in fecal Akkermansia. We found no liver damage induced by the FO-KD, while the ratio of total cholesterol/HDL was unchanged on the different diets. We conclude that a FO-KD is superior to KDs enriched in other fats in reducing NNK-induced lung cancer, perhaps by being the most effective at skewing whole-body metabolism from a dependence on glucose to fats as an energy source.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to the relationship between peripheral apolipoproteins and cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) imaging markers. METHODS We reviewed the data of a population that above 40 years old with CSVD, while free of known dementia or acute stroke. We evaluated CSVD imaging markers, including white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS), lacunas, microbleeds by MRI scans, and measured peripheral apolipoproteins. RESULTS After adjusting for age, sex and vascular risk factors,1) apoB and apoB/apoA-1 were related to grade of EPVS in basal ganglia(apoB:r=0.196,p<0.001;apoB/apoA-1:r=0.208,p<0.001), apoE was related to grade of EPVS in centrum semiovale (r=0.125,p=0.040); 2) apoB(OR=1.739, 95%CI=1.357-2.061, p<0.001), apoB/apoA-1(OR=1.116, 95%CI=1.037-1.761, p=0.005) and apoE(OR=1.287, 95%CI=1.036-1.599, p=0.023) were independent factors of presence of severer EPVS in basal ganglia, apoE was an independent factor of presence of severer EPVS in centrum semiovale (OR=1.235, 95%CI=1.021-1.494, p=0.029). CONCLUSION Our findings demonstrated peripheral apolipoproteins, including apoB, apoB/apoA-1, and apoE, were independent factor for EPVS in CSVD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lung dysfunction and high apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-I (apoB/apoA-I) ratio are both recognized risk factors for cardiovascular disease. However, few studies have examined the association between the apoB/ApoA-I ratio and lung function. Therefore, we investigated whether this ratio is associated with decreased lung function in a large healthy cohort. METHODS We performed a cohort study on 68,418 healthy Koreans (34,797 males, mean age: 38.1 years) who underwent a health examination in 2019. ApoB/apoA-I ratio was categorized into quartiles. Spirometric values at the fifth percentile in our population were considered the lower limit of normal (LLN), which was used to define lung function impairment. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs), using the lowest quartile as the reference, were estimated to determine lung function impairment. RESULTS Mean apoB/apoA-I ratio was 0.67 ± 0.21. Subjects with the highest quartile of this ratio had the lowest predicted forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1%) and forced vital capacity (FVC%) after controlling for covariates (P < 0.001). However, FEV1/FVC ratio was not significantly different among the four quartiles (P = 0.059). Compared with the lowest quartile (Q1, reference), the aORs (95% CI) for FEV1% < LLN across increasing quartiles (from Q2 to Q4) were 1.216 (1.094-1.351), 1.293 (1.156-1.448), and 1.481 (1.311-1.672) (P for trend < 0.001), respectively. Similarly, the aORs for FVC% < LLN compared with the reference were 1.212 (1.090-1.348), 1.283 (1.147-1.436), and 1.502 (1.331-1.695) with increasing quartiles (P for trend < 0.001). However, the aORs for FEV1/FVC < LLN were not significantly different among groups (P for trend = 0.273). CONCLUSION High apoB/apoA-I ratio was associated with decreased lung function. However, longitudinal follow-up studies are required to validate our findings.

Abstract
Lipids are important modifiers of protein function, particularly as parts of lipoproteins, which transport lipophilic substances and mediate cellular uptake of circulating lipids. As such, lipids are of particular interest as blood biological markers for cardiovascular disease (CVD) as well as for conditions linked to CVD such as atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, obesity and dietary states. Notably, lipid research is particularly well developed in the context of CVD because of the relevance and multiple causes and risk factors of CVD. The advent of methods for high-throughput screening of biological molecules has recently resulted in the generation of lipidomic profiles that allow monitoring of lipid compositions in biological samples in an untargeted manner. These and other earlier advances in biomedical research have shaped the knowledge we have about lipids in CVD. To evaluate the knowledge acquired on the multiple biological functions of lipids in CVD and the trends in their research, we collected a dataset of references from the PubMed database of biomedical literature focused on plasma lipids and CVD in human and mouse. Using annotations from these records, we were able to categorize significant associations between lipids and particular types of research approaches, distinguish non-biological lipids used as markers, identify differential research between human and mouse models, and detect the increasingly mechanistic nature of the results in this field. Using known associations between lipids and proteins that metabolize or transport them, we constructed a comprehensive lipid-protein network, which we used to highlight proteins strongly connected to lipids found in the CVD-lipid literature. Our approach points to a series of proteins for which lipid-focused research would bring insights into CVD, including Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PTGS2, a.k.a. COX2) and Acylglycerol kinase (AGK). In this review, we summarize our findings, putting them in a historical perspective of the evolution of lipid research in CVD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Research proved the importance of dosing apolipoprotein B (ApoB) over LDL cholesterol as a predictor of cardiovascular events. In this study, we aimed to observe the input apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) and ApoB, primarily if its ratio could provide in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) without known atherosclerotic events regarding the coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. METHODS We enrolled 83 patients with T2DM who attended the National Institute of Diabetes (Bucharest) between March 2022 and December 2022. A blood sample was taken from all patients to measure the different lipid parameters, including ApoA1 and ApoB. Spearman's correlation test for correlation between variables was used, and a multivariate regression analysis was performed to determine whether there are associations between CHD and the ApoB/ApoA1 and non-HDL-cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratios. Values of p < 0.05 were considered significant. RESULTS Correlation analyses revealed that LDL-C was moderately associated with CHD (r = 0.199, p = 0.067). The non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio exhibited a stronger, significant correlation with CHD (r = 0.366, p = 0.001). Evaluating apolipoproteins, ApoA1 levels negatively correlated with CHD (r = -0.233, p = 0.035), whereas ApoB levels showed a positive association (r = 0.292, p = 0.008). Notably, the severity of CHD risk increased with the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio (r = 0.530, p < 0.001). Similar trends in correlation coefficients were observed for fatal CHD and ASCVD, albeit with varied significance levels. CONCLUSIONS Among patients with T2DM, the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio exhibited the strongest correlation with CHD risk, surpassing traditional LDL-C and even the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio, suggesting its potential utility as a more reliable marker for cardiovascular risk assessment in this population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to investigate the association between the ApoB/ApoA-I ratio and post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) in patients with acute stroke of large artery atherosclerosis etiology. METHODS Prospective stroke registry data were used to consecutively enroll patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large artery atherosclerosis. Cognitive function assessments were conducted 3 to 6 months after stroke. PSCI was defined as a z-score of less than -2 standard deviations from age, sex, and education-adjusted means in at least one cognitive domain. The ApoB/ApoA-I ratio was calculated, and patients were categorized into five groups according to quintiles of the ratio. Logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the association between quintiles of the ApoB/ApoA-I ratio and PSCI. RESULTS A total of 263 patients were included, with a mean age of 65.9 ± 11.6 years. The median NIHSS score and ApoB/ApoA-I ratio upon admission were 2 (IQR, 1-5) and 0.81 (IQR, 0.76-0.88), respectively. PSCI was observed in 91 (34.6%) patients. The highest quintile (Q5) of the ApoB/ApoA-I ratio was a significant predictor of PSCI compared to the lowest quintile (Q1) (adjusted OR, 3.16; 95% CI, 1.19-8.41; p-value = 0.021) after adjusting for relevant confounders. Patients in the Q5 group exhibited significantly worse performance in the frontal domain. CONCLUSIONS The ApoB/ApoA-I ratio in the acute stage of stroke independently predicted the development of PSCI at 3-6 months after stroke due to large artery atherosclerosis. Further, a high ApoB/ApoA-I ratio was specifically associated with frontal domain dysfunction.

Abstract
Background Apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A-1 (apoB/apoA-1) has been shown to be strongly associated with the risk of future cardiovascular disease, but the association between apoB/apoA-1 and the risk of in-hospital death in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI) is inconclusive. Aim To investigate the association between apoB/apoA-1 and the risk of in-hospital death in elderly patients with AMI. Methods From December 2015 to December 2021, a total of 1495 elderly AMI patients (aged ≥ 60 years) with complete clinical history data were enrolled in the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Outcome was defined as all-cause mortality during hospitalization. Multivariate logistic regression and restricted spline cubic (RCS) models were used to evaluate the association between apoB/apoA-1 and in-hospital mortality risk, respectively. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to evaluate the predictive value of apoB/apoA-1 for in-hospital mortality events. Discordance analysis was performed when apoB/apoA-1 and LDL-C/HDL-C were not in concordance. Results (1) A total of 128 patients (8.6%) died during hospitalization. Patients in the death group had higher apoB/apoA-1 than those in the non-death group, but lower apoA-1 levels than those in the non-death group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05); (2) Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that apoB/apoA-1 was associated with the risk of in-hospital death in elderly AMI patients [Model 3 OR = 3.524 (1.622-7.659), P = 0.001]; (3) ROC curve analysis showed that apoB/apoA-1 (AUC = 0.572, P = 0.011) had some predictive value for the risk of in-hospital death in elderly AMI patients; (4) RCS models showed a linear dose-response relationship between apoB/apoA-1 and in-hospital death after adjusting for confounders (P for non-linearity = 0.762). Conclusion ApoB/apoA-1 is associated with the risk of in-hospital death in elderly patients with AMI, and is superior to other blood lipid parameters and blood lipid ratio.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Black garlic is obtained from raw garlic (Allium sativum L.), by a fermentation process, under humidity and heat treatment, showing a high concentration of organosulfur compounds, which have been related to benefits in the prevention or delay of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The objective of the research was to evaluate whether long-term consumption of black garlic improves endothelial function and lipid profile in subjects with hypercholesterolemia. METHODS Single center, controlled clinical trial with two branches: Hypercholesterolemia vs. Healthy condition. Sixty-two subjects of both sexes were distributed in two groups, the hypercholesterolemia group (n = 31) (total cholesterol (TC) range 200-300 mg/dL and low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol range 135-175 mg/dL) and the healthy group (n = 31). The intervention consisted of the ingestion of 4 cloves of black garlic (12 g) daily for 12 weeks. RESULTS significant increases in Apolipoprotein (Apo)A1 occurred in both groups: Hypercholesterolemia (Δ 11.8 mg/dL p < 0.001) vs Healthy (Δ 11.1 mg/dL p < 0.001). Besides, significant reductions for endothelial adhesion molecules monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) (Δ -121.5 pg/mL p = 0.007 vs. Δ -56.3 pg/mL p = 0.015), intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) (Δ -39.3 ng/mL p < 0.001 vs. Δ 63.5 ng/mL p < 0.001), and vascular cyto-adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) (Δ -144.4 ng/mL p < 0.001 vs. Δ -83.4 ng/mL p = 0.061) were observed, for hypercholesterolemic and healthy subjects, respectively. CONCLUSIONS These data show that black garlic consumption could improve some parameters related to endothelial function and lipid profile, which may have a favorable impact on the risk of CVDs, although more long-term studies are necessary to confirm.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A rhesus macaque with the fourth highest plasma cholesterol (CH) levels of 501 breeding macaques was identified 22 years ago. Seven offspring with gene mutations causing hypercholesterolemia were obtained. METHODS Activity of low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), plasma CH levels and mRNA expression levels of LDLR were measured after administration of 0.1% (0.27 mg/kcal) or 0.3% CH. RESULTS Activity of p. (Cys82Tyr) of LDLR was 71% and 42% in the heterozygotes and a homozygote, respectively. The mRNA expression level of LDLR in the p. (Val241Ile) of membrane-bound transcription factor protease, site 2 (MBTPS2, S2P protein) was 0.83 times lower than normal levels. LDLR mRNA levels were increased for up to 4 weeks by administration of 0.3% CH before suddenly decreasing to 80% of the baseline levels after 6 weeks. CONCLUSION Oligogenic mutations of p. (Cys82Tyr) in LDLR and p. (Val241Ile) in MBTPS2 (S2P) caused hypercholesterolemia exceeding cardiovascular risk levels under a 0.1% CH diet.

Abstract
Cardiovascular morbidity and mortality are more prevalent in inflammatory arthritis (IA) compared to the general population. Recognizing the importance of addressing this issue, the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) published guidelines on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk management in IA in 2016, with plans to update going forward based on the latest emerging evidence. Herein we review the latest evidence on cardiovascular disease in IA, taking a focus on rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and axial spondylarthritis, reflecting on the scale of the problem and imaging modalities to identify disease. Evidence demonstrates that both traditional CVD factors and inflammation contribute to the higher CVD burden. Whereas CVD has decreased with the newer anti-rheumatic treatments currently available, CVD continues to remain an important comorbidity in IA patients calling for prompt screening and management of CVD and related risk factors. Non-invasive cardiovascular imaging has been attracting much attention in view of the possibility of detecting cardiovascular lesions in IA accurately and promptly, even at the pre-clinical stage. We reflect on imaging modalities to screen for CVD in IA and on the important role of rheumatologists and cardiologists working closely together.

Abstract
People with high plasma total cysteine (tCys) have higher fat mass and higher concentrations of the atherogenic apolipoprotein B (apoB). The disulfide form, cystine, enhanced human adipogenesis and correlated with total fat mass in a Middle-Eastern cohort. In 35 European adults with overweight (88.6% women) and with dual-X-ray absorptiometry measurements of regional fat, we investigated how cystine compared to other free disulfides in their association with total regional adiposity, plasma lipid and glucose biomarkers, and adipose tissue lipid enzyme mRNA (n = 19). Most total plasma homocysteine (tHcy) (78%) was protein-bound; 63% of total glutathione (tGSH) was reduced. tCys was 49% protein-bound, 30% mixed-disulfide, 15% cystine, and 6% reduced. Controlling for age and lean mass, cystine and total free cysteine were the fractions most strongly associated with android and total fat: 1% higher cystine predicted 1.97% higher android fat mass (95% CI 0.64, 3.31) and 1.25% (0.65, 2.98) higher total fat mass (both p = 0.005). A positive association between tCys and apoB (β: 0.64%; 95% CI 0.17, 1.12%, p = 0.009) was apparently driven by free cysteine and cystine; cystine was also inversely associated with the HDL-associated apolipoprotein A1 (β: -0.57%; 95% CI -0.96, -0.17%, p = 0.007). No independent positive associations with adiposity were noted for tGSH or tHcy fractions. Plasma cystine correlated with CPT1a mRNA (Spearman's r = 0.68, p = 0.001). In conclusion, plasma cystine-but not homocysteine or glutathione disulfides-is associated with android adiposity and an atherogenic plasma apolipoprotein profile. The role of cystine in human adiposity and cardiometabolic risk deserves investigation. ClinicalTrials.gov identifiers: NCT02647970 and NCT03629392.

Abstract
Background The STAtins Reduce Thrombophilia trial showed that, in patients with prior venous thrombosis, rosuvastatin decreased various coagulation factor levels. Objectives Here, we investigated the hypothesis that statins decrease coagulation factor levels through shared mechanisms of synthesis or regulatory pathways with apolipoproteins. Methods We measured the levels of apolipoprotein (Apo)A-I, A-II, A-IV, (a), B-100, B-total, C-I, C-II, C-III, and E in patients (n = 126) randomized to 28 days of rosuvastatin use. We assessed the association between apolipoproteins and coagulation factors at baseline using linear regression. The mean difference in apolipoprotein levels between baseline and after 28 days of rosuvastatin use was determined through linear regression, adjusting for age, sex, and body mass index. Coagulation factors were added to this model to determine if the lowering of apolipoproteins by rosuvastatin was linked with coagulation factor levels. Results At baseline, levels of all apolipoproteins, except Apo(a), were positively associated with FVII, FIX, and FXI. Apolipoproteins levels, except for ApoA-I, A-IV, and Apo(a), were decreased after 28 days of rosuvastatin. ApoB-100 showed the largest mean decrease of -0.43 g/L (95% CI = -0.46 to -0.40). The decrease in ApoC-I and C-III levels was associated with a decrease in FVII, whereas the decrease in apoA-II, B-100, and B-total was associated with a decrease in FXI. The decrease in apolipoproteins was neither associated with FVIII or vWF decrease nor with endogenous thrombin potential changes. Conclusions Rosuvastatin decreases the level of several apolipoproteins, but this decrease was associated only with a decrease in FVII and XI and not with FVIII/vWF.

Abstract
Several preclinical studies have focused on the beneficial effects of garlic on cardiovascular diseases, but the results were inconsistent. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effect of garlic powder tablets and aged garlic extract (AGE) in CAD patients, mainly focusing on blood pressure, coronary artery calcification, lipid profile, and inflammatory markers. We searched PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, and Google Scholar to identify randomized controlled trials which examined garlic's effect on CAD patients. The standardized mean difference with 95% CI was calculated using fixed-effect or random-effect models. Garlic has shown statistically significant changes of HDL (SMD = 0.18; 95% CI = -0.00 to 0.37; p = .05); LDL (SMD = -0.27; 95% CI = -0.46 to -0.08; p = .004), apolipoprotein-A (SMD = 0.68; 95% CI = 0.24 1.13; p = .002), C-RP (SMD = -0.59; 95% CI = -0.92 to -0.25; p = .0007), IL-6 (SMD = -1.08; 95% CI = -2.17 to 0.01; p = .05), homocysteine (SMD = -0.66; 95% CI = -1.04 to -0.28; p = .0007) and CAC score (SMD = -1.61; 95% CI = -2.66 to -0.57; p = .003). In the case of subgroup analysis, the overall effect was significantly effective in reducing TC, LDL levels and improving HDL levels in CV risk patients. Our study findings provide consistent evidence that intake of garlic reduces CVD risk factors. However, garlic could be considered a safe natural medicine to debilitate inflammation in CAD patients.

Abstract
Neutrophil-to-apolipoprotein AI ratio's (NAR's) predictive value for the elderly non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients' death has not been fully recognized. We consecutively enrolled 1224 elderly patients with NVAF (≥75 years). With an average follow-up of 733.35 ± 271.39 days, 222 all-cause deaths were identified. Among these, 101 were caused by cardiovascular diseases. Cox regression showed that after correcting for potential confounders, patients in the Q4 group had an increased all-cause (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.90, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.20-2.99) and cardiovascular death (HR = 2.59, 95% CI: 1.30-5.15) risk compared to those in the lowest NAR quartile. Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that all-cause and cardiovascular death were higher in the high NAR than those in the lowest NAR category (log rank, all, P < 0.001). A nonlinear association was observed between death and NAR. NAR may be a promising predictive biomarker for identifying elderly NVAF patients with poor clinical prognoses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Apolipoproteins are known atherogenic factors that play important roles in many mechanisms related to acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, it is unclear whether the ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratio is related to the prognosis of patients with AIS. METHODS We conducted a prospective cohort study in the Department of Neurology, Yangpu Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University and investigated the association between ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratio and poor outcomes at 3 months of AIS. RESULTS 1,247 patients that met the eligibility criteria were enrolled in our study. We found that ApoA-Ι (Adjusted odds ratios (adjOR) 0.529, 95 %CI 0.327-0.855), ApoB (adjOR 3.015, 95 %CI 1.746-5.207), and ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratio (adjOR 3.986, 95 %CI 2.220-7.155) were independently associated with poor outcomes in acute ischemic stroke. During subgroup analysis, the ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratio was more likely associated with poor AIS outcomes in males and patients younger than 80 with SAO(Small Artery Occlusion) and no history of diabetes or statin use. Restricted cubic spline analyses explored the correlation between poor outcomes and ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratio. CONCLUSIONS Higher ApoB, lower ApoA-Ι, and higher ApoB/ApoA-Ι ratios were independently associated with poor outcomes in AIS. However, ApoB and ApoA-Ι were not related to hemorrhagic transformation in AIS.

Abstract
Serum apolipoproteins have been reported as a more significant marker for diabetic retinopathy (DR) compared with serum cholesterols. This article aims to review the associations between serum cholesterols and apolipoproteins, and the presence and severity of DR. The protocol of this systematic review was registered at the PROSPERO registry (CRD42022303331). We conducted a systematic search of literature published between 2011 to 2022 using the search terms "serum cholesterol" AND/OR "lipoprotein" AND/OR "apolipoprotein" AND/OR "diabetic retinopathy". Fifteen studies were included in this review. Six studies assessed the association between serum cholesterols, apolipoproteins, and the presence of DR. Three studies reported lower levels of apolipoprotein A1, and one study reported higher levels of apolipoprotein B in patients with DR. The remaining nine studies compared serum cholesterol and apolipoprotein levels according to DR severity. Patients with more severe grades of DR presented with lower apolipoprotein A1 in six (66.7%) studies, higher apolipoprotein B levels in seven (77.8%) studies, and a higher apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A1 ratio in six out of seven (85%) studies. In conclusion, serum apolipoproteins, in particular the apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A1 ratio, were a more consistent marker for DR severity compared with serum cholesterols.

Abstract
Angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) is an important regulator of lipoproteins by inhibiting both lipoprotein and endothelial lipases. It has been intensively investigated as a drug target for the treatment of dyslipidemia. In the present study, a modified small interfering RNA (siRNA) conjugated with GalNAc ANGsiR10 was characterized by in vivo and in vitro studies for its effect on ANGPTL3 silencing, the reduction of plasma triglycerides (TGs), and cholesterol levels in disease models. The results showed that ANGsiR10 displayed a significant and long-lasting efficacy in reducing blood TG and cholesterol levels in both mice and monkeys. Remarkably, the maximal reductions of plasma TG levels in the hApoC3-Tg mice, a model with high TG levels, and the spontaneous dyslipidemia model of rhesus monkey were 96.3% and 67.7%, respectively, after a single dose of ANGsiR10, with long-lasting effects up to 15 weeks. The cholesterol levels were also reduced in response to treatment, especially the non-HDL-c level, without altering the ApoA/ApoB ratio. This study showed that ANGsiR10 is effective in treating dyslipidemia and is worth further development.

Abstract
PurposeWe aimed to analyze the correlation between overweight and obesity-related indicators and cardiovascular risk predictors in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and to evaluate their mutual predictive properties.MethodsA total of 103 patients with FH included from 2004 to 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used to assess the correlation between overweight and obesity-related indicators and cardiovascular risk predictors in FH patients. Subject operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze their reciprocal predictive performance.Results(1) Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) (β = 0.020) and ApoB/ApoA1 Ratio (BAR) (β = 0.015) were independently correlated with body mass index (BMI) (P < 0.05); AIP (β = 1.176) was independently correlated with waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) (P < 0.01); AIP (β = 1.575), BAR (β = 0.661) and atherogenic coefficient (AC) (β = 0.427) were independently correlated with waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) (P < 0.05). (2) The area under the ROC (AUC) for overweight corresponding to AIP, BAR, and AC were 0.695 (95% CI = 0.593–0.797, P < 0.01), 0.660 (95% CI = 0.555–0.766, P < 0.01), and 0.632 (95% CI = 0.525–0.740, P < 0.05), respectively; and AUCs for central obesity corresponding to AIP, BAR and AC were 0.757 (95% CI = 0.656–0.857, P < 0.001), 0.654 (95% CI = 0.536–0.771, P < 0.05) and 0.651 (95% CI = 0.538–0.764, P < 0.05), respectively. The AUCs for moderate risk of AIP corresponding to BMI, WHR, and WHtR were 0.709 (95% CI = 0.608–0.811, P < 0.001), 0.773 (95% CI = 0.678–0.867, P < 0.001), 0.739 (95% CI = 0.641–0.836, P < 0.001), respectively, and BMI, WHR and WHtR corresponded to an AUC of 0.691 (95% CI = 0.585–0.797, P < 0.01), 0.734 (95% CI = 0.632–0.835, P < 0.001), and 0.706 (95% CI = 0.603–0.810, P < 0.01) for high risk of AIP, respectively.ConclusionAIP has independent positive linear correlation with indicators related to overweight and obesity in FH patients; AIP has good predictive performance for overweight and obesity in FH patients, and WHR has good performance for identifying moderate and high risk of AIP in FH patients.

Abstract
CONTEXT There is increasing evidence that intrauterine lipid metabolism influences the adiposity of the newborn and the first years thereafter. It remains unclear if these effects persist when these children grow older. OBJECTIVE This study examined the associations between maternal lipid blood levels during the 13th week of pregnancy and an offspring's adiposity, measured at age 11-12, and if these associations were moderated by the child's sex. METHODS Data were obtained from a community-based birth cohort, the Amsterdam Born Children and their Development (ABCD) study. At a median of 13 weeks' gestation, nonfasting blood samples of triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (TC), free fatty acids (FFAs), and apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A1 ratio (ApoB/ApoA1) were measured. An offspring's body mass index (BMI), subcutaneous fat (SCF), waist-to-height-ratio (WHtR), and fat percentage (fat%) were measured at age 11-12. Mothers with at-term born children were included (n = 1853). Multivariable linear regression analyses were performed to assess the associations between maternal lipids and each offspring's adiposity outcome separately. Sex differences were additionally evaluated. RESULTS TGs, TC, ApoB/ApoA1, and FFAs were significantly positively associated with BMI, WHtR, and fat% (adjusted for gestational age at blood sampling, child's age, sex, and sexual maturation). After additional adjustments for potential confounders and covariates, only TGs remained significantly associated with WHtR (0.45, 95% CI -0.007; 0.91). There were no associations between maternal lipids and SCF and no clear sex-specific results were found. CONCLUSION Overall, our results do not strongly support that maternal lipid profile during the 13th week of pregnancy has programming effects on adiposity in preadolescence.

Abstract
Exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) is associated with increased blood cholesterol. Although elevated cholesterol is a well-established risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), it is not clear whether PFASs affect this risk. Lipoprotein subclasses are emerging biomarkers for disease risk and lipoprotein profiling may provide an insight to physiological implications of PFAS exposure. We explored the association between serum PFAS concentrations and lipoprotein subclasses in a cross-sectional study. We determined the concentrations and lipid composition of the major subclasses of lipoproteins in plasma samples from 127 adult participants of the EuroMix human biomonitoring study by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Serum concentrations of 17 PFASs showed a detection frequency between 30 and 100% and were included in further analyses. We examined the associations between PFAS concentrations and lipoprotein subclasses by linear mixed-effect regression models, adjusted for confounders. In the adjusted models, positive associations were found between several PFASs and cholesterol concentrations in large to medium sized HDL and medium sized LDL particles. We found a 4-12% increase in HDL cholesterol per interquartile range (IQR) increase for several PFASs. In women the associations with PFNA, PFUnDA, PFDoDA and PFOS were significant after adjustment for multiple comparisons. Similar magnitude of change was observed between longer chained PFASs and LDL cholesterol, and a few of these associations reached significance for cholesterol in large to medium LDL particle sizes in women. No significant associations with plasma triglycerides were observed. However, most PFASs tended to be associated with reduction in VLDL (very low-density lipoproteins) particle number and VLDL triglyceride. Findings from this exploratory study, suggest that background PFAS exposures influence particle size distributions and lipid composition of plasma lipoprotein subclasses, and that these effects may be more prominent in women. A two-points lipoprofiling for all subjects indicated both low intra-individual variability and good analytical reproducibility.

Abstract
AbstractParkinson’s disease (PD) and cardiovascular disease share many important risk factors, but some associations differ. However, there are no studies that have compared their shared and specific risk factors. The present study aimed to compare risk factors for PD, coronary events, or ischemic stroke. We prospectively analyzed data from 26,210 participants with lifestyle factors aged 45–73 years enrolled between 1991 and 1996. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of PD, coronary events, or ischemic stroke in relation to each factor. A modified Lunn-McNeil competing risk analysis was performed to compare the HR strength of the three outcomes. A total of 486 incident PD cases, 3288 coronary events cases and 2,972 ischemic stroke cases occurred during a mean follow-up of 21 years. In multivariable models, age (per additional year: HR = 1.08; 95% CI: 1.06, 1.09), diabetes (HR = 1.52; 95% CI: 1.02, 2.26), neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (per SD increase: HR = 1.09; 95% CI: 1.00, 1.19), and fasting blood glucose (per SD increase: HR = 1.18; 95% CI: 1.03, 1.36) are the risk factors for PD, whereas female sex (HR = 0.54; 95% CI: 0.43, 0.67), smoking (current smoker [HR = 0.57; 95% CI: 0.43, 0.74] and former smoker [HR = 0.81; 95% CI: 0.66, 0.99]), HDL (per SD increase: HR = 0.74; 95% CI: 0.57, 0.95), and LDL (per SD increase: HR = 0.77; 95% CI: 0.61, 0.96) are the protective factors. A comparison of risk factors for PD, coronary events, and ischemic stroke showed the three outcomes had concordant and discordant risk factors. Our results indicated the risk factor profiles for PD, coronary events, or ischemic stroke had many similarities, but also significant differences.

Abstract
Sea buckthorn berries have been reported to have beneficial effects on plasma lipid profile and cardiovascular health. This study aimed to investigate the impact of intervention with sea buckthorn berry puree on plasma metabolomics profile and gut microbiota in hypercholesterolemic subjects. A total of 56 subjects with hypercholesterolemia consumed 90 g of sea buckthorn berry puree daily for 90 days, and plasma metabolomic profile was studied at 0 (baseline), 45, and 90 days of intervention by using proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR). Gut microbiota composition was analyzed at the baseline and after 90 days of supplementation by using high-throughput sequencing. The plasma metabolic profile was significantly altered after 45 days of intervention as compared to the baseline (day 0). A clear trend of returning to the baseline metabolomic profile was observed in plasma when the intervention extended from 45 days to 90 days. Despite this, the levels of several key plasma metabolites such as glucose, lactate, and creatine were lowered at day 90 compared to the baseline levels, suggesting an improved energy metabolism in those patients. In addition, intervention with sea buckthorn puree enriched butyrate-producing bacteria and other gut microbes linked to lipid metabolisms such as Prevotella and Faecalibacterium while depleting Parasutterella associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease. These findings indicate that sea buckthorn berries have potential in modulating energy metabolism and the gut microbiota composition in hypercholesterolemic patients.

Abstract
We aimed to evaluate the association between adipose tissue (AT) dysfunction, autoimmunity, and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A cross-sectional study including 150 RA patients and 50 healthy donors and longitudinal study with 122 RA patients treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, anti-interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R) or anti-CD20 therapies for 6 months were carried out. In vitro experiments with human AT and adipocyte and macrophage cell lines were performed. A collagen-induced arthritis mouse model was developed. The insulin resistance and the altered adipocytokine profile were associated with disease activity, the presence of anti-citrullinated proteins anti-bodies (ACPAs), and worse response to therapy in RA. AT in the context of arthritis is characterized by an inflammatory state alongside the infiltration of macrophages and B/plasmatic cells, where ACPAs can have a direct impact, inducing inflammation and insulin resistance in macrophages and promoting a defective adipocyte differentiation, partially restored by biologicals. Abstract
BACKGROUND The role of cholesterol levels in the development of atrial fibrillation (AF) is still controversial. In addition, whether and to what extent apolipoproteins are associated with the risk of AF is rarely studied. In this study, we aimed to investigate the association between blood lipid levels in midlife and subsequent risk of new-onset AF. METHODS AND FINDINGS This population-based study included 65,136 individuals aged 45 to 60 years without overt cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) from the Swedish Apolipoprotein-Related Mortality Risk (AMORIS) cohort. Lipids were measured in 1985 to 1996, and individuals were followed until December 31, 2019 for incident AF (i.e., study outcome). Hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using Cox regression, adjusting for age, sex, and socioeconomic status. Over a mean follow-up of 24.2 years (standard deviation 7.5, range 0.2 to 35.9), 13,871 (21.3%) incident AF cases occurred. Higher levels of total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were statistically significantly associated with a lower risk of AF during the first 5 years of follow-up (HR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.41 to 0.99, p = 0.013; HR = 0.64, 95% CI: 0.45 to 0.92, p = 0.016), but not thereafter (HR ranging from 0.94 [95% CI: 0.89 to 1.00, p = 0.038] to 0.96 [95% CI: 0.77 to 1.19, p > 0.05]). Lower levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) and higher triglycerides (TG)/HDL-C ratio were statistically significantly associated with a higher risk of AF during the entire follow-up (HR ranging from 1.13 [95% CI: 1.07 to 1.19, p < 0.001] to 1.53 [95% CI: 1.12 to 2.00, p = 0.007]). Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)/ApoA-I ratio was not associated with AF risk. The observed associations were similar among those who developed incident heart failure (HF)/coronary heart disease (CHD) and those who did not. The main limitations of this study include lack of adjustments for lifestyle factors and high blood pressure leading to potential residual confounding. CONCLUSIONS High TC and LDL-C in midlife was associated with a lower risk of AF, but this association was present only within 5 years from lipid measurement and not thereafter. On the contrary, low HDL-C and ApoA-I and high TG/HDL-C ratio were associated with an increased risk of AF over almost 35 years of follow-up. ApoB/ApoA-I ratio was not associated with AF risk.

Abstract
Altered lipoprotein metabolism is considered a pathogenic component of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1), a major high-density lipoprotein (HDL) protein, is associated with prevention of vascular damage. However, ApoA1's effects on damaged endothelium in ALS are unknown. This study aimed to determine therapeutic potential of ApoA1 for endothelial cell (EC) repair under a pathologic condition reminiscent of ALS. We performed in vitro studies using mouse brain ECs (mBECs) exposed to plasma from symptomatic G93A SOD1 mice. Dosage effects of ApoA1, including inhibition of the phosphoinoside 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathway and integration of ApoA1 into mBECs were examined. Also, human bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells (hBM-EPCs) and mBECs were co-cultured without cell contact to establish therapeutic mechanism of hBM-EPC transplantation. Results showed that ApoA1 significantly reduced mBEC death via the PI3K/Akt downstream signaling pathway. Also, ApoA1 was incorporated into mBECs as confirmed by blocked ApoA1 cellular integration. Co-culture system provided evidence that ApoA1 was secreted by hBM-EPCs and incorporated into injured mBECs. Thus, our study findings provide important evidence for ApoA1 as a potential novel therapeutic for endothelium protection in ALS. This in vitro study lays the groundwork for further in vivo research to fully determine therapeutic effects of ApoA1 in ALS.

Abstract
Apolipoproteins (Apos) play an important role in regulating plasma lipid concentration. Complex disorders of Apos are highly related with diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular and other diseases. Direct measures of lipoprotein fractions for risk assessment suffer from inaccuracy in the dyslipidemia and pathological states. Therefore, a reliable precise assay will be of high clinical utility. LC-MS/MS methods with multiple reaction monitoring modes have proven suitable for multiplexed quantification. We aimed to develop a simple, cost-effective and amenable LC-MS/MS assay for quantification of ApoA-I, ApoE and ApoJ in human plasma. Standards were constructed from substitute matrix and proteotypic peptides for external calibration and corresponding stable isotope labeled peptides were added as internal standards to remove matrix effects. Analytical validation of the assay included the assessment of linearity, accuracy (RE: −3.02% to 5.32%), intra-assay precision (RSD: 2.50% to 6.56%), inter-assay precision (RSD: 0.78% to 6.68%), spiking recovery rate (accuracy: 87.17% to 112.71%), matrix effect (accuracy: 88.03% to 114.87%), and reproducibility and repeatability of sample preparation (RSD: 1.95% to 7.26%). The performance of proteotypic peptides ApoA-I, ApoE and ApoJ was sufficient for triplex quantitation within a linear range from 16.26 to 1626.41 pmol mL−1, 1.03 to 103.35 pmol mL−1 and 0.86 to 86.46 pmol mL−1 respectively. For all quantified peptides, the determination coefficient (R2) was >0.997. Besides, the validated LC-MS/MS method has been successfully applied to the quantification of plasma samples in diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases. Abstract
Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a syndrome characterized by high morbidity, prevalence, mortality, recurrence and disability. The longer the delay before proper treatment of a stroke, the greater the likelihood of brain damage and disability. Computed tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance are the primary choices for fast diagnosis of AIS in the early stage, which can provide certain information about infarction location and degree, and even the vascular distribution of lesions responsible for strokes. However, this is quite difficult to achieve in small clinics or at-home diagnoses. Hematology tests could quickly obtain a large number of pathology-related indicators, and offer an effective method for rapid AIS diagnosis when combined with the machine learning technique. To explore a reliable, predictable method for early clinical etiologic diagnosis of AIS, a retrospective study was deployed on 456 AIS patients at the early stage and 28 reference subjects without the symptoms of AIS, by means of the selected significant traits amongst 64 clinical and blood traits in conjunction with powerful machine learning strategies. Five representative biomarkers were closely related to cardioembolic (CE), 22 to large artery atherosclerosis (LAA), and 15 to small vessel occlusion (SVO) strokes, respectively. With these biomarkers, different etiologic subtypes of stroke patients were determined with high accuracy of >0.73, sensitivity of >0.73, and specificity of >0.70, which was comparable to the accuracy obtained in the emergency department by clinical diagnosis. The proposed method may offer an alternative strategy for the etiologic diagnosis of AIS at the early stage when integrating significant blood traits into machine learning. A rapid and safe strategy was proposed for clinical etiologic diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke at the early stage using clinical hematology traits and machine learning. Abstract
OBJECTIVES (1) To evaluate clinical and molecular cardiovascular disease (CVD) signs and their relationship with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) features and (2) to identify a clinical patient profile susceptible to benefit from methotrexate (MTX) and/or apremilast regarding CVD risk. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 100 patients with PsA and 100 age-matched healthy donors. In addition, an exploratory cohort of 45 biologically naïve patients treated for 6 months with apremilast, MTX or combined therapy according to routine clinical practice was recruited. Extensive clinical and metabolic profiles were obtained. Ninety-nine surrogate CVD-related molecules were analysed in plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Hard cluster analysis was performed to identify the clinical and molecular phenotypes. Mechanistic studies were performed on adipocytes. RESULTS Cardiometabolic comorbidities were associated with disease activity and long-term inflammatory status. Thirty-five CVD-related proteins were altered in the plasma and PBMCs of PsA patients and were associated with the key clinical features of the disease. Plasma levels of some of the CVD-related molecules might distinguish insulin-resistant patients (MMP-3, CD163, FABP-4), high disease activity (GAL-3 and FABP-4) and poor therapy outcomes (CD-163, LTBR and CNTN-1). Hard cluster analysis identified two phenotypes of patients according to the rates of cardiometabolic comorbidities with distinctive clinical and molecular responses to each treatment. CONCLUSIONS (1) Novel CVD-related proteins associated with clinical features could be emerging therapeutic targets in the context of PsA and (2) the pleiotropic action of apremilast could make it an excellent choice for the management of PsA patients with high CVD risk, targeting metabolic alterations and CVD-related molecules.

Abstract
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a well-known inflammatory disorder with a wide variety of phenotypes that extend beyond the joints. It has been defined as an immune-mediated disorder in which Th-1 and Th-17 cells play a key role. It has been associated with an elevated risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS), which is characterized by abdominal obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hyperlipidemia. While the exact pathophysiology of the link between PsA and MetS has yet to be precisely determined, persistence of inflammatory abnormalities, with overexpression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, might be the cause. Studies have consistently emphasized the strong association between elevated risk of developing cardiovascular disease and MetS in individuals with underlying PsA. The literature has also shown an association between the increased PsA severity and the increased frequency of MetS components. This association has important clinical consequences when treating patients with PsA. Therefore, screening programs should be implemented for PsA patients to evaluate whether they have MetS, and appropriate treatment should be given to manage cardiometabolic risk factors. Patients should also be closely monitored for potential adverse treatment effects on co-morbidities. This article summarizes the evidence of associations between several components of MetS and PsA and analyzes the impact of treatment on these factors.

Abstract
Background and Aims Lipid metabolism plays important roles in atherosclerosis. Several studies have found that lipoprotein is associated with coronary artery disease (CAD) and hyperlipidemia. Although the roles of the apolipoprotein B/A1 ratio (ApoB/A1) were originally thought to be atherosclerotic, few studies have focused on the specific relationship between ApoB/A1 and severity of coronary artery stenosis with or without the presence of CAD. Methods A total of 6956 consecutive patients aged 21–98 years with suspected CAD who had undergone coronary angiography were enrolled. The severity of coronary lesions was evaluated using the Gensini score (GS). The relationships between ApoB/A1 and severity of coronary artery stenosis were evaluated. Results A total of 1795 non-CAD patients and 5161 CAD patients were included in the observational analysis. Patients with CAD had higher ApoB/A1 than individuals without CAD (0.67 (0.53-0.82) vs. 0.61 (0.49-0.75), p < 0.001). In CAD patients, the higher the ApoB/A1 was, the higher the proportion of patients with MI, triple-vessel lesions, and higher Gensini scores. ApoB/A1 was significantly positively correlated with HbA1c and Gensini scores in CAD patients but not in non-CAD patients (all p < 0.001). Logistic analyses showed that ApoB/A1 could be a risk factor for multivessel disease (OR: 2.768, 95% CI: 1.868-4.103, p < 0.001). ApoB/A1 was found to be significantly positively correlated with the Gensini score in CAD patients. Conclusions ApoB/A1 is highly associated with the presence and severity of coronary artery stenosis in patients with CAD but not in non-CAD patients.

Abstract
Midlife lipid levels are important predictors of cardiovascular diseases, yet their association with mortality in older adults is less clear. We aimed to (1) identify lipid profiles based on cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoproteins using cluster analysis, and (2) investigate how lipid profiles and lipid levels at different ages are associated with later-life all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. We used data from 98,270 individuals in the Swedish AMORIS cohort who had blood measurements between 1985-1996 and were followed until 2012. Over the follow-up (mean 18.0 years), 30,730 (31.3%) individuals died. Three lipid profiles were identified. Compared with reference profile, a high lipid profile (low ApoA-I and high total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, ApoB, and ApoB/ApoA-I ratio) at ages 39-59 or 60-79 was associated with higher all-cause mortality. A high lipid profile at ≥ 80 years, however, did not confer higher mortality. For the specific markers, high TC (≥ 7.25 mmol/L) was associated with higher all-cause mortality in ages 39-59 but lower mortality in ages 60-79 and ≥ 80. Low ApoA-I (< 1.28 g/L) and high ApoB/ApoA-I ratio (≥ 1.18), on the other hand, were associated with higher cardiovascular mortality regardless of age at lipid measurement, highlighting their potential relevance for survival in both young and older individuals.

Abstract
Background: Dyslipidemia is one of the modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Identifying subjects with lipid abnormality facilitates preventative interventions. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of lipid indices on the risks of ischemic stroke (IS), coronary heart disease (CHD), CVD, all-cause death, and CVD death. Methods: The cohort study of 4,128 subjects started in May 2009 and followed up to July 2020. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) regression analysis was used to explore the dose-response relationship between lipid indices with outcomes. Cox proportional hazard regression analysis was used to estimate the association with a hazard ratio (HR) and 95% CI. Results: RCS analysis showed that there were significant linear associations of TG with IS, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and total cholesterol (TC)/HDL-C ratio with all-cause death, non-HDL-C and RC with CVD death, and significant non-linear associations of ApoB with IS and CVD, TC, LDL-C, ApoAI, and TC/HDL-C ratio with CHD, and TC with all-cause death (all P <0.1). Cox regression analysis revealed that subjects with TC <155 mg/dl (vs. 155–184 mg/dl), > 185 mg/dl (vs. 155–184 mg/dl), and ApoB <0.7 g/l (vs. ≥0.7 g/l) had higher risks of CHD (P < 0.05), the adjusted HRs (95% CIs) were 1.933 (1.248–2.993), 1.561 (1.077–2.261), and 1.502 (1.01–2.234), respectively. Subjects with ApoAI > 2.1 g/l (vs. 1.6–2.1 g/l) and TG <80 mg/dl (vs. 80–177 mg/dl) had higher risks of CVD and all-cause death (P < 0.05), the adjusted HRs (95% CIs) were 1.476 (1.031–2.115) and 1.234 (1.002–1.519), respectively. Conclusions: Lower or higher levels of TC, higher level of ApoAI, and lower level of ApoB were associated with increased risks of CVD, and lower level of TG was associated with increased all-cause death. Maintaining optimal lipid levels would help to prevent CVD and reduce mortality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Elevated apolipoprotein B (apoB) and elevated apoB/apoA-1 ratio increase the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke, whereas high apoA-1 is protective. We study how these apolipoproteins are associated with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), whether apoA-1 contributes to this association, and whether abnormal values occur decades before such events develop. METHODS AND FINDINGS In the Swedish AMORIS (Apolipoprotein-related MOrtality RISk) cohort study, 137,100 men and women aged 25-84 years were followed an average 17.8 years. ApoB, apoA-1, and the apoB/apoA-1 ratio were analysed in relation to MACEs (non-fatal MI, stroke, and cardiovascular [CV] mortality), yielding 22,473 events. Hazard ratios (HRs) were estimated using Cox regression. Kaplan-Meier estimates were used to investigate the relationship of MACEs with increasing quintiles of the apoB/apoA-1 ratio in all age groups for both sexes. In nested case-control analyses, cases were randomly matched to age- and sex-matched controls, yielding population trajectories for apolipoproteins. Increased level of apoB and increased apoB/apoA-1 ratio were associated with risk of MACE and all clinical sub-components in both men and women across all ages (10th versus first decile in both sexes combined: HR 1.7 for MACE and 2.7 for non-fatal MI). Decreased values of apoA-1 potentiated the impact of apoB at all levels of apoB (on average across apoB range: 40% increase in HR for MACE and 72% increase in HR for non-fatal MI), indicating that the apoB/apoA-1 ratio covers a broader range of persons with dyslipidaemia at risk than apoB alone. In both men and women, MACEs occurred earlier on average for each increasing quintile of the apoB/apoA-1 ratio. Individuals with the highest levels of apoB/apoA-1 ratio experienced CV events on average several years earlier than those with lower ratios. Higher apoB/apoA-1 ratio in cases of MACE versus controls was seen already about 20 years before the event. A limitation of this study was that adjustment for tobacco smoking and hypertension was only possible in a small validation study. CONCLUSIONS An imbalance between apoB and apoA-1 resulting in an increased apoB/apoA-1 ratio is strongly associated with the outcome MACE and its sub-components, in both men and women of all ages. An increased apoB/apoA-1 ratio already 2 decades before events calls for early recognition and primary prevention. Simple evidence-based cut values should be considered in future cardiovascular guidelines.

Abstract
Background Recently, several studies have reported an association between lipid profiles and sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), yet there is considerable variability between the individual studies in defining the precise association between serum lipids levels and SSNHL. This study sought to identify a possible relationship between dyslipidemia and the prevalence and prognosis of SSNHL. Methods A case‐control study was carried out at two independent medical centers, including 2,288 SSNHL patients and 2,288 healthy controls. Clinical characteristics and serum lipid parameters were assessed, including total cholesterol (CHOL), high‐density lipoprotein (HDL), low‐density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides (Trig), apolipoprotein AI (ApoAI), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and lipoprotein a (Lpa). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the relationship between lipid profiles and SSNHL in the 4,576 subjects. Results Significant differences were identified in several conventional serum lipid markers including CHOL, Trig, HDL, LDL, ApoAI, ApoB, and Lpa, between SSNHL patients and healthy controls. Serum ApoAI levels were significantly lower in patients with bilateral SSNHL compared to unilateral SSNHL. Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that higher levels of ApoB, LDL, Trig, and lower levels of ApoAI and HDL were all associated with an increased risk of SSNHL. After clinical characterization, multivariate analysis showed that only low levels of ApoB predicted likelihood of a recovery of more than 30 dB among patients with SSNHL. Conclusions Serum lipids are associated with the incidence and prognosis of SSNHL. Identification of dyslipidemia may improve early evaluation and management of SSNHL risks.

Abstract
Apolipoprotein (apo) B, the critical structural protein of the atherogenic lipoproteins, has two major isoforms: apoB48 and apoB100. ApoB48 is found in chylomicrons and chylomicron remnants with one apoB48 molecule per chylomicron particle. Similarly, a single apoB100 molecule is contained per particle of very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), intermediate density lipoprotein, LDL and lipoprotein(a). This unique one apoB per particle ratio makes plasma apoB concentration a direct measure of the number of circulating atherogenic lipoproteins. ApoB levels indicate the atherogenic particle concentration independent of the particle cholesterol content, which is variable. While LDL, the major cholesterol-carrying serum lipoprotein, is the primary therapeutic target for management and prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, there is strong evidence that apoB is a more accurate indicator of cardiovascular risk than either total cholesterol or LDL cholesterol. This review examines multiple aspects of apoB structure and function, with a focus on the controversy over use of apoB as a therapeutic target in clinical practice. Ongoing coronary artery disease residual risk, despite lipid-lowering treatment, has left patients and clinicians with unsatisfactory options for monitoring cardiovascular health. At the present time, the substitution of apoB for LDL-C in cardiovascular disease prevention guidelines has been deemed unjustified, but discussions continue.

Abstract
Bilirubin is an important antioxidant and a modulator of biological functions. However, most of the protection against oxidative stress was shown in vitro or ex vivo. The aim of this case-control study was to investigate whether subjects with Gilbert’s syndrome (GS) experience different levels of lipid and protein oxidation (as well as differences in oxidative stress related markers) compared to healthy controls. GS subjects (n = 119) demonstrated higher serum levels of unconjugated bilirubin (p < 0.001), a lower BMI (p < 0.001), 37% higher antioxidant potential assessed as ferric reducing ability potential (p < 0.001), higher advanced oxidation protein products (p < 0.01) andlower apolipoprotein B (p < 0.05), hs-C-reactive protein (p < 0.05), interleukin 6 (p < 0.001) and interleukin 1 beta (p < 0.05) values compared to healthy controls (n = 119). Furthermore, the resting heart rate was significantly lower in the GS group (p < 0.05). Stronger protective effects for GS subjects were demonstrated in the older subgroup (n = 104, average age 50 years) compared to those of the younger group (n = 134, average age 27 years). Although not all markers related to oxidative stress were different between the groups (e.g., malondialdehyde, homocysteine, oxLDL, and myeloperoxidase; p > 0.05), the observed differences contribute to the explanation of why GS serves as an important protector in the pathogenesis of metabolic, oxidative stress related diseases.

Abstract
The traditional approach to the management of coronary artery disease (CAD) focuses mainly on low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) which is often considered a crucial risk factor for the progression of atherosclerosis. Despite its extensive use in predicting CAD risk, it has become a sub-optimal marker owing to several limitations. Recently, non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) and apolipoprotein-B (Apo-B) have been substantiated to be more reliable predictors of CAD risk. On the basis of available evidence, it is fair to say that non-HDL-C is a more realistic primary target of therapy and can be used for initial screening. In the current scenario, India being a developing country, the population would not be burdened with additional cost of Apo-B estimation as non-HDL-C can be estimated in the non-fasting state which makes it both patient and clinician friendly. Considering this fact, the aim of the present review article is to highlight the reliability and efficacy of non-HDL-Cholesterol and hence make recommendations to incorporate non-HDL-C in routine lipid panel for better assessment of CAD.
