In Canada, the African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) men are disproportionately affected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted illnesses (STIs). Addressing this situation requires research evidence on the barriers to protective behaviours such as use of condom. This study is the first to assess the relationship between knowledge, attitude and use of condom with diagnosis of HIV and STIs among ACB heterosexual men in Ontario. The findings provide evidence regarding significant racial disparities in diagnosis with HIV and STIs and recommends undertaking tailored strategies for prevention and intervention of the STIs in this vulnerable population.
