Abstract
BACKGROUND MPOX (Monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease of increasing global concern due to its re-emergence and potential for human-to-human transmission. Effective public health interventions rely on understanding socio-demographic determinants of knowledge and perceptions of the disease. This study aimed to investigate MPOX-related knowledge and concerns among a diverse sample in Türkiye, identifying key factors influencing knowledge levels. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted with 509 participants aged 18-73 years (mean age: 33.8 ± 15.6) in all settlements of Türkiye. Socio-demographic data were collected, and MPOX knowledge and concerns were assessed using a structured data form. To assess knowledge levels regarding MPOX, 15 questions were defined with 1 point given for each correct answer, and these questions were then categorized as high knowledge (≥ 10 correct answers) and low knowledge (< 10 correct answers). Univariable and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with knowledge levels. Trust and reliance on information sources were also evaluated. The data form was distributed to participants via social media platforms. RESULTS The majority of participants (97.1%) were aware of MPOX, but only 6.5% believed adequate precautions were in place. The mean knowledge score was 7.6 ± 3.7, with 37.7% demonstrating high knowledge. In terms of concerns about MPOX, only 31.6% of participants were identified as concerned, whereas the majority (68.4%) of the participants reported no significant concerns. The most trusted source of information about MPOX among the participants was medical doctors and healthcare professionals, as indicated by 53.63% of respondents. Low knowledge was significantly associated with older age (p = 0.015), female gender (p = 0.002), lower education levels (p < 0.001), non-medical fields (p < 0.001), and lower income (p < 0.001). Social media (53.11%) was the most common information source, yet healthcare professionals (53.63%) were the most trusted. Multivariable logistic regression confirmed that being in non-medical fields (OR = 2.858, 95% CI: 1.809-4.515, p < 0.001), lower income (OR = 3.141, 95% CI: 2.015-4.896, p < 0.001), and perceived low immunity (OR = 2.264, 95% CI: 1.350-3.797, p = 0.002) independently predicted lower knowledge. CONCLUSIONS Despite high awareness, significant gaps in MPOX knowledge exist, particularly among older adults, females, non-medical professionals, and those with low income. Public health strategies should prioritize these groups, leveraging trusted sources like healthcare professionals while improving the reliability of digital information platforms.

Abstract
Background The 2022 mpox outbreak in the United States disproportionately affected gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). Uptake of mpox testing may be related to symptomology, sociodemographic characteristics, and behavioral characteristics. Objective This study aimed to describe suspected mpox symptoms and testing uptake among a sample of GBMSM recruited via the internet in the United States in August 2022. Methods We conducted a rapid internet-based mpox survey from August 5 to 15, 2022, among cisgender men 15 years and older who had previously participated in the 2021 American Men's Internet Survey. We estimated the prevalence of suspected mpox symptoms (fever or rash or sores with unknown cause in the last 3 mo) and uptake of mpox testing. We calculated adjusted prevalence ratios (aPRs) and 95% CIs for associations between participant characteristics and suspected mpox symptoms and summarized characteristics of GBMSM reporting mpox testing. Among symptomatic GBMSM who did not receive mpox testing, we described testing self-efficacy, barriers, and facilitators. Results Of 824 GBMSM, 126 (15.3%) reported at least 1 mpox symptom in the last 3 months; 58/126 (46%) with rash or sores, 57 (45.2%) with fever, and 11 (8.7%) with both. Increased prevalence of suspected mpox symptoms was associated with condomless anal sex (CAS; aPR 1.53, 95% CI 1.06-2.20). Mpox testing was reported by 9/824 GBMSM (1%), including 5 with symptoms. Most GBMSM reporting mpox testing were non-Hispanic White men (7/9 vs 1 Black and 1 Hispanic or Latino man), and all 9 lived in urban areas. Most reported having an sexually transmitted infections test (8/9), 2 or more partners (8/9), CAS (7/9), and group sex (6/9) in the last 3 months. Of those tested, 3 reported living with HIV and all were on treatment, whereas the remaining 6 men without HIV reported current pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use. Of symptomatic GBMSM who did not report mpox testing, 47/105 (44.8%) had low mpox testing self-efficacy. Among those with low self-efficacy, the most common barriers to testing were not knowing where to get tested (40/47, 85.1%) and difficulty getting appointments (23/47, 48.9%). Among those with high testing self-efficacy (58/105, 55.2%), the most common facilitators to testing were knowing where to test (52/58, 89.7%), convenient site hours (40/58, 69%), and low-cost testing (38/58, 65.5%). Conclusions While all GBMSM who reported testing for mpox were linked to HIV treatment or PrEP, those with symptoms but no mpox testing reported fewer such links. This suggests targeted outreach is needed to reduce structural barriers to mpox services among GBMSM in rural areas, Black and Hispanic or Latino GBMSM, and GBMSM living with HIV. Sustaining and scaling community-tailored messaging to promote testing and vaccination represent critical interventions for mpox control among GBMSM in the United States.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to update baseline data on monkeypox (mpox)-related knowledge and vaccination willingness among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) diagnosed and suspected males. Methods The cross-sectional survey was conducted in Changsha, a provincial capital in China, during 5 JULY to 5 SEPTEMBER 2023. Among the three study groups, the participants in the "previously diagnosed" group were recruited from a cohort of HIV-infected patients. The "newly diagnosed" and the "suspected" groups were recruited from the outpatients and grouped according to their confirmatory test results. The the exploratory factor analysis was firstly applied to capture the latent structure of participants' response to the questionnaire about monkeypox. The component and factor scores were compared between groups using the Kruskal-Wallis H tests. The chi-square test was then used to assess the difference of mpox vaccination willingness between MSM and non-MSM in each group. Finally, multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the determinants of vaccination willingness. Results A total of 481 males were included in the final analysis. The results revealed that there was a gap in knowledge about monkeypox between the three participant groups. The vaccination willingness rate of HIV-infected participants was above 90%, while the rate in the HIV-suspected group was 72.60%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the previously diagnosed group (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.314, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.105-0.940) and the suspected group (aOR = 0.111, 95% CI: 0.034-0.363) had a lower level of vaccination willingness and they were referred to the newly diagnosed group. Participants in the age groups ranging 25-34 (aOR = 0.287, 95% CI: 0.086-0.959) and 35-44 (aOR = 0.136, 95% CI: 0.039-0.478) years showed a lower level of vaccination willingness, referred to the 15-24 year age group. A better knowledge about monkeypox was associated with a higher level of vaccination willingness (aOR = 1.701, 95% CI: 1.165-2.483). Additionally, a considerable percentage of heterosexual individuals in each group indicated their acceptance of monkeypox vaccines. Conclusion An overall high level of vaccination willingness was observed among HIV-infected and-suspected male individuals with disparities noted among those with different HIV infection status, knowledge levels of monkeypox, and age. Addressing the existing knowledge gap and engaging people with persistent risks-regardless of their sexual orientation-for a timely HIV diagnosis may facilitate vaccine-based mitigation measures against monkeypox.

Abstract
Background Mpox is a zoonotic disease that has become a significant public health concern, especially in regions beyond its usual endemic areas in Africa. The rising global incidence and its classification as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization highlight the importance of healthcare professionals (HCPs) being knowledgeable and well-prepared to effectively manage the virus. This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and factors associated with HCPs regarding Mpox infections at Debre Tabor Comprehensive Specialized Hospital in Northwest Ethiopia. Methods Between June 13th and September 3rd, 2024, a cross-sectional study was conducted, among 384 HCPs selected through convenience sampling. A pretested, and well-structured, questionnaire was used to assess the sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, and attitudes of HCPs. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. A p-value of ≤ 0.05 was considered a statistically significant association. Results Out of the 384 participants, the majority were male (55.47%) and aged 31-39 years (33.85%). Nurses made up the largest professional group at 31.25%. Only 28.13% and 37.76% of HCPs demonstrated good knowledge and favorable attitudes toward the Mpox, respectively. Interestingly, HCPs with prior information sources about Mpox were likely to possess good knowledge (AOR = 1.45, p = 0.002). Conclusions The findings emphasize important gaps in the knowledge and attitude of HCPs. It is imperative to implement targeted educational initiatives such as information dissemination, training, and continuous professional development to improve the capacity of HCPs to effectively respond to Mpox and other emerging infectious diseases.

Abstract
An outbreak of monkeypox (Mpox) appeared suddenly and rapidly spread worldwide during 2022. Men who have sex with men (MSM) are at a high risk of contracting Mpox compared to other cohorts. The present study examined the psychometric properties of a newly developed scale among MSM: the Motors of Mpox Vaccination Acceptance Scale (MoMVA) assessing cognitive components of the motivation to receive an Mpox vaccination. In total, 389 MSM participated in an online survey study. The factor structures of the MoMVA were first examined using exploratory factor analysis. After determining the factor structures, the MoMVA was further examined for: (i) internal consistency using Cronbach's α; (ii) concurrent validity using correlations with risk perception of contracting Mpox and intention to receive an Mpox vaccination; and (iii) known-group validity by comparing the scores of the MoMVA between MSM who vaccinated and those who did not. The results indicated that the MoMVA had a two-factor structure (positive and negative motors). The MoMVA had acceptable internal consistency (α = 0.793 to 0.914), concurrent validity (associated with intention to receive an Mpox vaccination), and known-group validity (participants who vaccinated had higher MoMVA scores than those who did not). The results of the present study indicated that the psychometric properties of the MoMVA were good and that they can be used for assessing cognitive components of the motivation to receive an Mpox vaccination among MSM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND After rapid epidemic growth between May and August, 2022, new mpox diagnoses declined in Europe and the Americas, with low-level transmission continuing thereafter. Characterising the extent of behavioural adaptation, mpox vaccination, and mpox prevalence across these regions could improve our understanding of the transmission dynamics of the virus. We aimed to characterise the presence and duration of adaptations to sexual behaviour related to the emergence of mpox during the first year of the outbreak among affected communities in Europe and the Americas. METHODS This retrospective, cross-sectional online survey was conducted in 23 countries in Europe and the Americas between May 19 and May 31, 2023. The survey was advertised via four geospatial dating apps used by affected communities. Eligible participants were aged 18 years or older and identified as a gay man, a bisexual man, a man who has sex with men, as transgender, or as non-binary. We described and regionally compared the mpox prevalence, mpox vaccination rates (one dose or two doses of modified vaccinia virus Bavarian Nordic), and the extent and duration of behavioural adaptation during the outbreak. For these behavioural outcomes, we used regression analyses to estimate crude prevalence ratios (PRs) and adjusted prevalence ratios (aPRs) with 95% CIs. FINDINGS Of 17 428 individuals who completed the survey, 16 875 (96·8%) met the eligibility criteria and were included in the study. 1086 (6·4%) participants reported having mpox during the outbreak. Vaccination with at least one dose was reported by 4987 (29·6%) participants; 3502 (20·8%) reported two doses. Vaccination rates in Latin America and eastern Europe and the western Balkans were significantly lower than in western Europe and northern America (p<0·0001). Adaptations to sexual behaviour were reported by 8583 (50·9%) of 16 875 participants and across all regions; 3045 (35·5%) of these 8583 participants said they continued adapting their sexual behaviour until May, 2023. Participants who reported concerns about mpox (9884 [58·6%] of 16 875) were more likely to adapt their behaviour than those who did not report concerns (PR 2·43 [95% CI 2·34-2·53]). In adjusted regression models, participants who reported vaccination (aPR 0·25 [95% CI 0·21-0·28] for two doses and 0·43 [0·37-0·51] for one dose) or having had mpox (0·37 [0·30-0·44]) were less likely to continue adaptations than those who did not. Participants in Latin America or northern America were significantly more likely to adapt their sexual behaviour and to continue with adaptations than those in western Europe. INTERPRETATION Adaptations to sexual behaviour due to mpox were widespread, dynamic, and responded to evolving individual risk perceptions. We propose that the decline in mpox transmission seen at the end of 2022 resulted primarily from a combination of behavioural adaptation and naturally acquired immunity. As mpox vaccination is an important preventive measure, stark vaccine inequity highlights the need to increase access to mpox vaccines. FUNDING WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mpox is a viral zoonosis that has gained increased attention due to a global outbreak in 2022, significantly impacting men who have sex with men (MSM). Vaccination for this disease poses a public health challenge; because it carries a strong stigma, there may be greater hesitancy in vulnerable groups. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine the prevalence and factors associated with Mpox vaccine hesitancy among Brazilian MSM. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted between September and December 2022 using an online survey targeted at MSM. Recruitment was carried out through social media and dating apps. The sample consisted of 1449 participants and the analysis involved bivariate logistic regression. RESULTS The prevalence of Mpox vaccine hesitancy was 7.57%. The significant factors associated with hesitancy were primarily related to sexual practices and attitudes towards Mpox exposure and diagnosis, such as not using "glory holes" (aOR: 19.82; 95% CI: 1.60-245.69), reluctance to undergo pre- and post-exposure testing for Mpox (aOR: 9.54; 95% CI: 5.52-16.48), and not knowing close contacts diagnosed with Mpox (aOR: 4.09; 95% CI: 1.72-9.73). Participants who would not take precautions after diagnosis (aOR: 3.00; 95% CI: 1.27-7.07) and those who would not disclose their serological status (aOR: 1.93; 95% CI: 1.13-3.30) also showed a higher likelihood of vaccine hesitancy. CONCLUSION Public health strategies should address these factors to expand knowledge about vaccination barriers, plan educational campaigns with targeted messaging for the MSM population, and provide inclusive healthcare environments to increase vaccine acceptance and reduce Mpox transmission in vulnerable groups.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Few validated brief scales are available to measure constructs that may hinder mpox-related prevention and care engagement, such as knowledge and stigma. Both are highly salient barriers to infectious disease care and disease understanding, precursors to evaluating one's risk and need to, for example, accept vaccination. To address this gap, we developed and validated the Mpox Stigma Scale (MSS) and Mpox Knowledge Scale (MKS). METHODS As part of a full-scale clinical trial, we offered an optional mpox survey to participants who self-identified as African American or Black, were 18-29 years old, and lived in Alabama, Georgia, or North Carolina (2023, N = 330). We calculated psychometric properties through confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) and applied Comparative Fit Index (CFI), Goodness of Fit Index (GFI), and Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI) values equal to or exceeding 0.90 and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) values less than 0.08 to determine adequate model fit. We computed internal reliability using Cronbach's alpha and calculated Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficients between the MSS and MKS and related variables. RESULTS For the MSS, CFA results showed that the one-factor model fit the data well (χ2(df = 5, N = 330) = 34.962, CFI = 0.97, GFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.13, SRMR = 0.03). For the MKS, the one-factor model provided a good fit to the data (χ2(df = 6, N = 330) = 8.44, CFI = 0.99, GFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.95, RMSEA = 0.15, SRMR = 0.02). Cronbach's alphas were MSS = 0.91 and MKS = 0.83, suggesting good to excellent reliability. The MSS was correlated with the MKS (r = .55, p < .001), stigmatizing attitudes (r = .24, p < .001), attitudes towards mpox vaccination (r=-.12, p = .030), and worry about contracting mpox (r = .44, p < .001). The MKS was correlated with worry about contracting mpox (r = .30, p < .001) and mpox disclosure (r=-.16, p = .003). CONCLUSIONS The MSS and MKS are reliable and valid tools for public health practice, treatment and prevention research, and behavioral science. Abstract
BACKGROUND As of September 2023, more than 1,000 cases of monkeypox (mpox) have been reported in China. Based on the available evidence, men who have sex with men (MSM) are at high risk for mpox infection. This study aimed to analyses the self-reported infection status, knowledge, attitude and influencing factors of monkeypox among MSM in Jiaxing City, China. METHODS A web-based cross-sectional survey was conducted in September 2023 to gather data on participants' socio-demographic profiles, mpox-related knowledge, sexual behavior characteristics, and other potentially related information to mpox knowledge. Multivariate regression modeling was employed to analyze the factors influencing the level of mpox-related knowledge. RESULTS A total of 562 MSM were recruited; 4.3% self-reported being HIV-positive, 83.3% of respondents had heard of mpox, and 2.3% of them reported having suspected symptoms. 89.7% of respondents were willing to be vaccinated against mpox, but only 24.8% had a high level of knowledge about mpox. The main factors influencing knowledge of mpox were education level, household registration, homosexual anal intercourse in the past 6 months, and taking the HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). CONCLUSIONS Knowledge of mpox among MSM living in the Jiaxing area needs to be enhanced, but willingness to get vaccinated is high. Educational level, household location, sexual behavior and PrEP use have important effects on knowledge of mpox. Individuals exhibiting symptoms indicative of suspected mpox had a diminutive consultation frequency, and it is imperative to augment screening efforts for mpox symptoms within specific demographic groups to prevent the underreporting of mpox cases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The mpox outbreak resulted in 32,063 cases and 58 deaths in the United States and 95,912 cases worldwide from May 2022 to March 2024 according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Like other disease outbreaks (eg, HIV) with perceived community associations, mpox can create the risk of stigma, exacerbate homophobia, and potentially hinder health care access and social equity. However, the existing literature on mpox has limited representation of the perspective of sexual minority men and gender-diverse (SMMGD) individuals. OBJECTIVE To fill this gap, this study aimed to synthesize themes of discussions among SMMGD individuals and listen to SMMGD voices for identifying problems in current public health communication surrounding mpox to improve inclusivity, equity, and justice. METHODS We analyzed mpox-related posts (N=8688) posted between October 2020 and September 2022 by 2326 users who self-identified on Twitter/X as SMMGD and were geolocated in the United States. We applied BERTopic (a topic-modeling technique) on the tweets, validated the machine-generated topics through human labeling and annotations, and conducted content analysis of the tweets in each topic. Geographic analysis was performed on the size of the most prominent topic across US states in relation to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) social climate index. RESULTS BERTopic identified 11 topics, which annotators labeled as mpox health activism (n=2590, 29.81%), mpox vaccination (n=2242, 25.81%), and adverse events (n=85, 0.98%); sarcasm, jokes, and emotional expressions (n=1220, 14.04%); COVID-19 and mpox (n=636, 7.32%); government or public health response (n=532, 6.12%); mpox symptoms (n=238, 2.74%); case reports (n=192, 2.21%); puns on the naming of the virus (ie, mpox; n=75, 0.86%); media publicity (n=59, 0.68%); and mpox in children (n=58, 0.67%). Spearman rank correlation indicated significant negative correlation (ρ=-0.322, P=.03) between the topic size of health activism and the UCLA LGB social climate index at the US state level. CONCLUSIONS Discussions among SMMGD individuals on mpox encompass both utilitarian (eg, vaccine access, case reports, and mpox symptoms) and emotionally charged (ie, promoting awareness, advocating against homophobia, misinformation/disinformation, and health stigma) themes. Mpox health activism is more prevalent in US states with lower LGB social acceptance, suggesting a resilient communicative pattern among SMMGD individuals in the face of public health oppression. Our method for social listening could facilitate future public health efforts, providing a cost-effective way to capture the perspective of impacted populations. This study illuminates SMMGD engagement with the mpox discourse, underscoring the need for more inclusive public health programming. Findings also highlight the social impact of mpox: health stigma. Our findings could inform interventions to optimize the delivery of informational and tangible health resources leveraging computational mixed-method analyses (eg, BERTopic) and big data.

Abstract
Assessing the acceptance of the monkeypox vaccine is crucial for the success of vaccination programs, yet the prevalence reports remain inconclusive. The aim of this study was to determine the global prevalence of monkeypox vaccine acceptance and identify its associated factors. A meta-analysis was conducted with a comprehensive search strategy on the following databases, including Scopus, Embase, and PubMed, for articles published up to April 5, 2024. This study utilizes a single-arm meta-analysis to calculate the pooled prevalence of monkeypox vaccine acceptance. A Z-test was employed to identify factors associated with the vaccine acceptance. Our study analyzed 51 articles encompassing 98,746 participants, revealing an overall monkeypox vaccine acceptance rate of 65%. Notably, the highest acceptance rates were observed among men who have sex with men (MSMs), while healthcare workers (HCWs) showed the lowest acceptance rates. Additionally, our findings indicated an increased acceptance in individuals with educational attainment beyond a bachelor's degree, a history of COVID-19 and influenza vaccination, homosexual orientation, and HIV-positive status. Conversely, lower acceptance risk was associated with those with educational attainment below a bachelor's degree, heterosexual orientation, and bisexual orientation. In conclusion, our current study has determined the rate of monkeypox vaccine acceptance and identified its associated factors. These findings offer valuable insights as the foundation for targeted policies to manage and increase acceptance rates.

BACKGROUND Vaccination has been recommended as one of the most potent ways of controlling the mpox (formerly, monkeypox) outbreak, particularly among high-risk groups. Here, we evaluated the prevalence of mpox vaccine acceptance and uptake globally. METHODS We searched multiple databases for peer-reviewed studies published in English from May 2022 to 25th November 2023 that evaluated mpox vaccine acceptance and/or uptake. We fit a random-effects model meta-analysis to calculate the pooled mpox vaccine acceptance and uptake rates, with their 95% confidence intervals (CI) across population outcomes. We performed subgroup analyses among the six World Health Organization (WHO) regions (Africa [AFR], Region of the Americas [AMR], South-East Asia Region [SEAR], European Region [EUR], Eastern Mediterranean Region [EMR], and the Western Pacific Region [WPR]), as well as among select population subgroups. RESULTS Of the 2531 studies screened, 61 studies, with a cumulative sample size of 263,857 participants from 87 countries were eligible for inclusion. The overall vaccine acceptance and uptake rates were 59.7% and 30.9% globally. Acceptance and uptake rates among the LGBTQI+ community were 73.6% vs 39.8% globally, 60.9% vs. 37.1% in AMR, 80.9% vs. 50.0% in EUR, and 75.2% vs. 33.5% in WPR. Among PLHIV, vaccine acceptance and uptake rates were 66.4% vs. 35.7% globally, 64.0% vs. 33.9% in AMR, 65.1% vs. 27.0% in EUR, and 69.5% vs. 46.6% in WPR. Among healthcare workers, vaccination intention was 51.0% globally. CONCLUSIONS Tailored interventions are needed to bolster confidence in the mpox vaccine, maximize vaccine uptake, and increase vaccine access to close the gaps between acceptance and uptake especially among key populations residing in regions with low rates of acceptance and uptake.

Abstract
Mpox is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPV), primarily found in Central and West African countries. The typical presentation of the disease before the 2022 mpox outbreak includes a febrile prodrome 5-13 days post-exposure, accompanied by lymphadenopathy, malaise, headache, and muscle aches. Unexpectedly, during the 2022 outbreak, several cases of atypical presentations of the disease were reported, such as the absence of prodromal symptoms and the presence of genital skin lesions suggestive of sexual transmission. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), as of March 20, 2024, 94,707 cases of mpox were reported worldwide, resulting in 181 deaths (22 in African endemic regions and 159 in non-endemic countries). The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a total of 32,063 cases (33.85% of total cases globally), with 58 deaths (32.04% of global deaths) due to mpox. Person-to-person transmission of mpox can occur through respiratory droplets and sustained close contact. However, during the 2022 outbreak of mpox, a high incidence of anal and perianal lesions among MSMs indicated sexual transmission of MPV as a major route of transmission. Since MSMs are disproportionately at risk for HIV transmission. In this review, we discusses the risk factors, transmission patterns, pathogenesis, vaccine, and treatment options for mpox among MSM and people living with HIV (PLWH). Furthermore, we provide a brief perspective on the evolution of the MPV in immunocompromised people like PLWH.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To understand the factors associated with the practice of chemsex among MSM in Brazil, especially during the Mpox health crisis, and to design effective prevention and intervention strategies specifically for this population. DESIGN A cross-sectional and analytical study using an electronic survey, conducted from September to December 2022, during the peak of the Mpox outbreak in Brazil. SAMPLE A total of 1452 MSM aged 18 and older. MEASUREMENTS Data were collected via the REDCap platform through a survey with 46 questions. These addressed demographic data, sexual affiliations, practices, experiences with Mpox, healthcare service usage, and stigma or fear related to Mpox. RESULTS The prevalence of chemsex was 19.42% (n = 282). Multivariate Poisson modeling indicated a high incidence of chemsex among those diagnosed with Mpox and those involved in high-risk behaviors. The practice of chemsex was six times higher among those diagnosed with Mpox (95% CI: 4.73-9.10). MSM who engage in bugchasing had a prevalence twice that of the main outcome (95% CI: 1.31-3.16). CONCLUSION There is a significant need for targeted interventions for MSM in Brazil, especially given the Mpox outbreak. This study highlights the strong relationships between chemsex, experiences with Mpox, and various sexual behaviors, underscoring the importance of effective public health initiatives.

Abstract
Introduction: Gay and bisexual men (GBM) account for the highest rates of incident infection with HIV in the U.S., and experience social, systemic barriers to accessing and engaging in healthcare services. Interacting with healthcare providers can be a complex process for some GBM with HIV disease. The current study examined the contributions of cognition and health literacy to perceived interactions with healthcare providers among GBM with HIV disease. Methods: The sample included 100 adults with HIV disease (ages 24-75) who identified as GBM. All participants completed the Dealing with Health Professionals subscale of the Beliefs Related to Medication Adherence survey, as well as the Cogstate neuropsychological battery, self-report measures of cognitive symptoms, and well-validated measures of health literacy. Results: Worse performance-based cognition and subjective cognitive symptoms were both associated with perceived difficulties dealing with healthcare providers, but these associations were fully mediated by lower health literacy. Conclusion: Health literacy may play a role in the association between poorer cognitive functioning and difficulties navigating healthcare interactions among GBM with HIV disease. Further studies are needed to determine whether cognitive approaches to enhancing the access, understanding, and use of health information in GBM with HIV disease improves healthcare interactions and outcomes.

Abstract
People with HIV (PWH) are disproportionally affected by mpox and at risk of severe complications. We assessed mpox knowledge, adoption of preventive behaviors, and vaccination attitudes among PWH enrolled in a longitudinal HIV cohort in Washington, DC, the DC Cohort. We conducted uni- and multivariable analyses comparing participants by vaccination status and HIV risk group, and multinomial regression to identify factors associated with vaccine acceptance. Among 430 PWH, 378 (87.9%) were aware of mpox. Among 373 participants with vaccination status data, 101 (27.1%) were vaccinated, 129 (34.6%) planned to vaccinate, and 143 (38.3%) did not plan to vaccinate. The three vaccination groups differed significantly by age, race, education, HIV risk group, recent STI status, and level of mpox worry (all p < 0.05). A higher proportion of men who have sex with men (MSM) reported limiting their number of sexual partners compared to non-MSM (p < 0.0001). Multinomial regression models comparing vaccinated to unvaccinated PWH found age, education, mode of HIV transmission/gender, and survey period were significantly associated with vaccination status (all p < 0.05). High levels of mpox awareness were observed among this cohort of PWH with more MSM employing risk reduction behaviors and being vaccinated. Ensuring that PWH, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or age, understand the risks of mpox may improve vaccination uptake.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Monkeypox (Mpox) virus infection is a topic of growing interest today because of its potential public health impact and concern about possible outbreaks. Reliable and up-to-date sources of information that provide accurate data on its transmission, symptoms, prevention, and treatment are essential for understanding and effectively addressing this disease. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to determine the prevalence of sources of information on Mpox virus infection. METHODS An exhaustive systematic review and meta-analysis was carried out using the information available in the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and ScienceDirect databases up to August 3, 2023. The data were analyzed using R software version 4.2.3. The quality of the cross-sectional studies that formed part of this review was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI-MAStARI) tool. In addition, a subgroup analysis was performed based on the study populations. RESULTS Through electronic searches of five databases, a total of 1833 studies were identified. Twenty-four cross-sectional articles were included, with a total sample of 35,959 participants from 34 countries. The pooled prevalence of each of the included information sources was: social networks reached 59% (95% CI: 50-68%; 29,146 participants; 22 studies; I2 = 100%; p < 0.01); the Internet was 61% (95% CI: 44-77%; 14,002 participants; 5 studies; I2 = 100%; p < 0.01), radio reached 10% (95% CI: 07-13%; 8917 participants; 4 studies; I2 = 93%; p < 0.01), television accounted for 24% (95% CI: 09-43%; 14,896 participants; 8 studies; I2 = 100%; p < 0.01), and the combination of radio and television accounted for 45% (95% CI: 31-60%; 4207 participants; 7 studies; I2 = 99%; p < 0.01); for newspapers, it was 15% (95% CI: 05-27%; 2841 participants; 6 studies; I2 = 99%; p < 0.01), friends and relatives accounted for 19% (95% CI: 12-28%; 28,470 participants; 19 studies; I2 = 100%; p < 0.01), the World Health Organization (WHO) accounted for 17% (95% CI: 07-29%; 1656 participants; 3 studies; I2 = 97%; p < 0.01), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) accounted for 10% (95% CI: 03-21%; 2378 participants; 3 studies; I2 = 98%; p < 0.01), and the combination of WHO and CDC websites accounted for 60% (95% CI: 48-72%; 1828 participants; 4 studies; I2 = 96%; p < 0.01), and finally, scientific articles and journals accounted for 24% (95% CI: 16-33%; 16,775 participants; 13 studies; I2 = 99%; p < 0.01). CONCLUSION The study suggests that people access a variety of information sources to gain knowledge about Mpox virus infection, with a strong emphasis on online sources such as social networks and the Internet. However, it is important to note that the quality and accuracy of information available from these sources can vary, underscoring the need to promote access to reliable and up-to-date information about this disease to ensure public health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cisgender men were mostly affected during the 2022 mpox multinational outbreak, with few cases reported in women. This study compares the characteristics of individuals diagnosed with mpox infection according to gender in Rio de Janeiro. METHODS We obtained surveillance data of mpox cases notified to Rio de Janeiro State Health Department (June 12 to December 15, 2022). We compared women (cisgender or transgender) to men (cisgender or transgender) using chi-squared, Fisher's exact, and Mood's median tests. RESULTS A total of 1306 mpox cases were reported; 1188 (91.0%) men (99.8% cisgender, 0.2% transgender), 108 (8.3%) women (87.0% cisgender, 13.0% transgender), and 10 (0.8%) non-binary persons. Compared to men, women were more frequently older (40+years: 34.3% vs. 25.1%; p < 0.001), reported more frequent non-sexual contact with a potential mpox case (21.4% vs. 9.8%; p = 0.004), fewer sexual partnerships (10.9 vs. 54.8%; p < 0.001), less sexual contact with a potential mpox case (18.5% vs. 43.0%; p < 0.001), fewer genital lesions (31.8% vs. 57.9%; p < 0.001), fewer systemic mpox signs/symptoms (38.0% vs. 50.1%; p = 0.015) and had a lower HIV prevalence (8.3% vs. 46.3%; p < 0.001), with all cases among transgender women. Eight women were hospitalized; no deaths occurred. The highest number of cases among women were notified in epidemiological week 34, when the number of cases among men started to decrease. CONCLUSIONS Women diagnosed with mpox presented differences in epidemiological, behavioral, and clinical characteristics compared to men. Health services should provide a comprehensive assessment that accounts for gender diversity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Monkeypox (mpox) is a viral infection that is primarily endemic to countries in Africa, but large outbreaks outside of Africa have been historically rare. In June 2022, mpox began to spread across Europe and North America, causing the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare mpox a public health emergency of international concern. This article aims to review clinical presentation, diagnosis, and prevention and treatment strategies on mpox, providing the basic knowledge for prevention and control for emergency providers. METHODS We conducted a review of the literature using PubMed and SCOPUS databases from their beginnings to the end of July 2023. The inclusion criteria were studies on adult patients focusing on emerging infections that described an approach to a public health emergency of international concern, systematic reviews, clinical guidelines, and retrospective studies. Studies that were not published in English were excluded. RESULTS We included 50 studies in this review. The initial symptoms of mpox are non-specific: fever, malaise, myalgias, and sore throat. Rash, a common presentation of mpox, usually occurs 2-4 weeks after the prodrome, but the presence of lymphadenopathy may distinguish mpox from other infections from the Poxviridae family. Life-threatening complications such as pneumonia, sepsis, encephalitis, myocarditis, and death can occur. There are documented co-occurrences of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted infections that can worsen morbidity. CONCLUSION The initial presentation of mpox is non-specific. The preferred treatment included tecovirimat in patients with severe illness or at high risk of developing severe disease and vaccination with two doses of JYNNEOS. However, careful history and physical examination can raise the clinicians' suspicion and point toward a prompt diagnosis. There are different modalities to prevent and treat mpox infection.
