Abstract
Vascular calcification (VC) is highly prevalent in patients undergoing hemodialysis, and is a significant contributor to the mortality rate. Therefore, biomarkers that can accurately predict the onset of VC are urgently required. Our study aimed to investigate serum miR-15a levels in relation to VC and to develop a predictive model for VC in patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Beijing Friendship Hospital hemodialysis center between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020. The patients were categorized into two groups: VC and non-VC. Logistic regression (LR) models were used to examine the risk factors associated with VC. Additionally, we developed an miR-15a-based nomogram based on the results of the multivariate LR analysis. A total of 138 patients under hemodialysis were investigated (age: 58.41 ± 13.22 years; 54 males). VC occurred in 79 (57.2%) patients. Multivariate LR analysis indicated that serum miR-15a, age, and WBC count were independent risk factors for VC. A miR-15a-based nomogram was developed by incorporating the following five predictors: age, dialysis vintage, predialysis nitrogen, WBC count, and miR-15a. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve had an area under the curve of 0.921, diagnostic threshold of 0.396, sensitivity of 0.722, and specificity of 0.932, indicating that this model had good discrimination. This study concluded that serum miR-15a levels, age, and white blood cell (WBC) count are independent risk factors for VC. A nomogram constructed by integrating these risk factors can be used to predict the risk of VC in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have infiltrated countless everyday products, raising concerns about potential effects on human health, specifically on the cardiovascular system and the development of abdominal aortic calcification (AAC). However, our understanding of this relationship is still limited. OBJECTIVES This study aims to investigate the effects of PFAS on AAC using machine learning algorithms. METHODS Leveraging the power of machine learning technique, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), we assessed the relationship between PFAS exposure and AAC risk. We focused on three PFAS compounds, perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDeA), perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), and perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) through multiple logistic regression, restricted cubic spline (RCS), and quantile g-computation (QGC) models. To get more insight into the underlying mechanisms, mediation analyses are used to investigate the potential mediating role of fatty acids and blood cell fractions in AAC. RESULTS Our findings indicate that elevated serum levels of PFHxS and PFDeA are associated with the increased risk of AAC. The QGC analyses underscore the overall positive association between the PFAS mixture and AAC risk, with PFHxS carrying the greatest weight, followed by PFDeA. The RCS analyses reveal a dose-dependent increase between serum PFHxS concentration and AAC risk in an inverted V-shape way. Moreover, age and PFHxS exposure are identified as the primary factors contributing to abdominal aortic calcification risk in SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) summary plot combined with XGBoost technique. Although PFAS significantly change the profile of fatty acids, we do not find any mediating roles of them in AAC. Despite strong associations between PFAS exposure and hematological indicators, our analysis does not find evidence that these indicators mediate the development of AAC. CONCLUSIONS In summary, our study highlights the detrimental impact of PFAS on abdominal aortic health and emphasizes the need for further research to understand the underlying mechanisms involved.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Whether coal mine dust exposure increases cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) risk was rarely explored. Our objective was to examine the association between coal mine dust exposure and cardiovascular risk. METHODS We estimated cumulative coal mine dust exposure (CDE) for 1327 coal miners by combining data on workplace dust concentrations and work history. We used brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV, a representative indicator of arterial stiffness) and ten-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk to assess potential CVD risk, exploring their associations with CDE. RESULTS Positive dose-response relationships of CDE with baPWV and ten-year ASCVD risk were observed after adjusting for covariates. Specifically, each 1 standard deviation (SD) increase in CDE was related to a 0.27 m/s (95% CI: 0.21, 0.34) increase in baPWV and a 1.29 (95% CI: 1.14, 1.46) elevation in OR (odds ratio) of risk of abnormal baPWV. Moreover, each 1 SD increase in CDE was associated with a 0.74% (95% CI: 0.63%, 0.85%) increase in scores of ten-year ASCVD and a 1.91 (95% CI: 1.62, 2.26) increase in OR of risk of ten-year ASCVD. When compared with groups unexposed to coal mine dust, significant increase in the risk of arterial stiffness and ten-year ASCVD in the highest CDE groups were detected. CONCLUSION The study suggested that cumulative exposure to coal mine dust was associated with elevated arterial stiffness and ten-year ASCVD risk in a dose-response manner. These findings contribute valuable insights for cardiovascular risk associated with coal mine dust.

Abstract
Dysfunction of cerebral endothelial cells (CECs) has been implicated in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Despite evidence showing cytotoxic effects of oligomeric amyloid-β (oAβ) and Tau (oTau) in the central nervous system, their direct effects on CECs have not been fully investigated. In this study, we examined the direct effects of oAβ, oTau, and their combination on cell adhesion properties and inflammatory responses in CECs. We found that both oAβ and oTau increased cell stiffness, as well as the p-selectin/Sialyl-LewisX (sLeX) bonding-mediated membrane tether force and probability of adhesion in CECs. Consistent with these biomechanical alterations, treatments with oAβ or oTau also increased actin polymerization and the expression of p-selectin at the cell surface. These toxic oligomeric peptides also triggered inflammatory responses, including upregulations of p-NF-kB p65, IL-1β, and TNF-α. In addition, they rapidly activated the RhoA/ROCK pathway. These biochemical and biomechanical changes were further enhanced by the treatment with the combination of oAβ and oTau, which were significantly suppressed by Fasudil, a specific inhibitor for the RhoA/ROCK pathway. In conclusion, our data suggest that oAβ, oTau, and their combination triggered subcellular mechanical alterations and inflammatory responses in CECs through the RhoA/ROCK pathway.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Arterial stiffness (ArS) has emerged as a predictor of future cardiovascular events in the general population. We aimed to assess ArS in patients with thrombotic APS versus diabetes mellitus (DM) and healthy controls (HC) and identify predictors of increased ArS in APS. METHODS ArS was evaluated by carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) and augmentation index normalized to 75 beats/min (AIx@75) using the SphygmoCor device. Participants also underwent carotid/femoral ultrasound for atherosclerotic plaque detection. We used linear regression to compare ArS measures among groups and assess ArS determinants in the APS group. RESULTS We included 110 patients with APS (70.9% female, mean age 45.4 years), 110 DM patients and 110 HC, all age/sex matched. After adjustment for age, sex, cardiovascular risk factors and plaque presence, APS patients exhibited similar cfPWV [β = -0.142 (95% CI -0.514, 0.230), p = 0.454] but increased AIx@75 [β = 4.525 (95% CI 1.372, 7.677), p = 0.005] compared with HC and lower cfPWV (p < 0.001) but similar AIx@75 (p = 0.193) versus DM patients. In the APS group, cfPWV was independently associated with age [β = 0.056 (95% CI 0.034, 0.078), p < 0.001], mean arterial pressure (MAP) [β = 0.070 (95% CI 0.043, 0.097), p < 0.001], atherosclerotic femoral plaques [β = 0.732 (95% CI 0.053, 1.411), p = 0.035] and anti-β2-glycoprotein I IgM positivity [β = 0.696 (95% CI 0.201, 1.191), p = 0.006]. AIx@75 was associated with age [β = 0.334 (95% CI 0.117, 0.551), p = 0.003], female sex [β = 7.447 (95% CI 2.312, 12.581), p = 0.005] and MAP [β = 0.425 (95% CI 0.187, 0.663), p = 0.001]. CONCLUSION APS patients exhibit elevated AIx@75 vs HC and similar to DM patients, indicating enhanced arterial stiffening in APS. Given its prognostic value, ArS evaluation may help to improve cardiovascular risk stratification in APS.

Abstract
Changes in vascular biomechanics leading to increase in arterial stiffness play a pivotal role in circulatory dysfunction. Our objectives were to examine sex-specific pharmacological changes related to the biomechanics and any structural modifications in small resistance arteries of Dahl salt-sensitive male and female rats. The composite Young modulus (CYM) was determined using pressure myograph recordings, and immunohistochemistry was used for the evaluation of any structural changes in the third-order mesenteric arteries (n = 6). Animals on high-salt diet developed hypertension with significant elevation in central and peripheral blood pressures and pulse wave velocity compared to those on regular diet. There were no significant differences observed in the CYM between any of the groups (i.e., males and females) in vehicle-treated time-control studies. The presence of verapamil (0.3 μM) significantly reduced CYM in hypertensive males without changes within females compared to vehicle. This effect was abolished by phenylephrine (0.3 μM). BaCl2 (100 μM), ouabain (100 μM), and L-NAME (0.3 μM) combined significantly increased CYM in vessels from in normotensive males and females but not in hypertensive males compared to vehicle. The increase in CYM was abolished in the presence of phenylephrine. Sodium nitroprusside (0.3 μM), in the presence of phenylephrine, significantly reduced CYM in male normotensive versus hypertensive, with no differences within females. Significant differences were observed in immunohistochemical assessment of biomechanical markers of arterial stiffness between males and females. Our findings suggest sex possibly due to pressure differences to be responsible for adaptive changes in biomechanics, and varied pharmacological responses in hypertensive state.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is currently the largest cause of mortality and disability globally, surpassing communicable diseases, and atherosclerosis is the main contributor to this epidemic. Aging is intimately linked to atherosclerosis development and progression, however, the mechanism of aging in atherosclerosis is not well known. To emphasize the significant research on the involvement of senescent cells in atherosclerosis, we begin by outlining compelling evidence that indicates various types of senescent cells and SASP factors linked to atherosclerotic phenotypes. We subsequently provide a comprehensive summary of the existing knowledge, shedding light on the intricate mechanisms through which cellular senescence contributes to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Further, we cover that senescence can be identified by both structural changes and several senescence-associated biomarkers. Finally, we discuss that preventing accelerated cellular senescence represents an important therapeutic potential, as permanent changes may occur in advanced atherosclerosis. Together, the review summarizes the relationship between cellular senescence and atherosclerosis, and inspects the molecular knowledge, and potential clinical significance of senescent cells in developing senescent-based therapy, thus providing crucial insights into their biology and potential therapeutic exploration.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Chronic inflammation plays a key role in arterial stiffness pathogenesis. Dietary components can display anti- or pro-inflammatory properties. Nonetheless, the association between the diet's overall inflammatory potential and arterial stiffness is unclear. This study aimed to assess the association between the diet's overall inflammatory potential and arterial stiffness assessed by carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV). METHODS AND RESULTS This cross-sectional study included 1307 participants from the STANISLAS family cohort study. Dietary data were collected using a validated food frequency questionnaire. The adapted dietary inflammatory index (ADII) score was calculated to assess the inflammatory potential of the participants' diet. The association of ADII score quartile with cfPWV was assessed using IPW-weighted linear mixed models with random family effect. The median (Q1-Q3) ADII score was 0.45 (-1.57, 2.04). Participants exhibiting higher ADII scores demonstrated elevated energy intake, dietary saturated fat, and ultra-processed foods. Conversely, individuals with lower ADII scores exhibited higher vitamins and omega intakes, and a higher diet quality, as assessed by the DASH score. Despite these observations from the descriptive analyses, ADII score quartiles were not significantly associated with cfPWV (β(95% CI) were 0.01 (-0.02,0.04) for Q2, 0.02 (-0.01,0.05) for Q3, and 0.02 (-0.01,0.05) for Q4 compared to Q1). CONCLUSION In this cross-sectional study, participants had a relatively modest consumption of pro-inflammatory foods, no substantial associations were observed between the diet inflammatory potential and arterial stiffness. Further longitudinal studies in larger cohorts are needed to better understand the link between inflammatory diet and arterial stiffness.

Abstract
Background Chemotherapy correlates to acute and long-term cardiotoxicity, is reflected clinically by myocardial and vascular endothelial dysfunction, and can cause cardiovascular complications. Thus, early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in cancer patients undergoing anti-cancer treatment is necessary to enhance long-term survival. Our principal objective in this study was to discern the impact of specific anti-cancer chemotherapeutics and biologics on arterial stiffness alterations before and after the administration. Methods Conducted at Mustafa Bacha University Hospital, Algeria, the study focused on arterial stiffness in anti-cancer chemotherapy patients. Assessments included blood pressure, diabetes, and dyslipidemia, with precise measurements using validated systems, particularly pulse wave velocity (PWV). Various chemotherapy protocols were applied, and statistical analysis with R software (R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria) maintained a significance level of p=0.05. Key outcomes centered on carotid-femoral PWV and secondary endpoints such as central and peripheral pressures and pulse pressure (PP). Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted using appropriate statistical tests. Results A comparative prospective observational study was completed on 58 patients (34 women and 24 men; mean age: 52.64 +/- 12.12 years) treated with anti-cancer chemotherapy agents. Our evaluation included a complete clinical exam, electrocardiogram, Doppler echocardiography, and applanation tonometry with arterial stiffness measurement using PWV. Patients presented significantly higher levels of carotid-femoral PWV, regardless of the chosen chemotherapy protocol, with no return to the initial level after one year of stopping treatment (p-value < 0.01). Moreover, this increase was more significant in patients with diabetes and hypertension and patients treated with monoclonal antibodies or intercalants. Conclusion This prospective study shows that chemotherapy patients have elevated arterial stiffness, emphasizing the need to assess PWV and monitor cardiovascular risk factors. PP measurement with PWV could improve risk management.

Abstract
African Americans (AA) have a higher risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) as compared to their White (W) counterparts. CVD is characterized by increased blood pressure (BP), arterial stiffness and systemic inflammation. An acute inflammatory stimulus may explain physiological manifestations responsible for amplified CVD in AA that are not apparent at rest. The purpose of this study was to evaluate central and peripheral BP, central and local arterial stiffness, and indices of pulse wave morphology in young healthy AA and W participants in response to acute inflammation. Concentrations of the inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) and measures of central and peripheral BP, central arterial stiffness (carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV)), local carotid arterial stiffness (β-stiffness, elastic modulus (Ep)), and indices of pulse wave morphology were assessed in 28 participants (21 ± 2 years, AA: n = 11) at baseline (BL), 24 h and 48 h post-inflammation. Changes in IL-6 concentrations (ΔIL-6) were significantly greater at 24 h as compared to 48 h post-inflammation (0.652 ± 0.644 vs. -0.146 ± 0.532 pg/μl, P ≤ 0.0001). Among AA participants, central and peripheral diastolic BP were significantly decreased at 24 h post-inflammation as compared to BL (aortic diastolic BP: -4 ± 4 mmHg, P = 0.016; brachial diastolic BP: -4 ± 4 mmHg, P = 0.014). AA participants also experienced a significant decrease in central and peripheral mean arterial BP at 48 h post-inflammation as compared to BL (aortic mean arterial pressure: -4 ± 4 mmHg, P = 0.009; brachial mean arterial pressure: -4 ± 4 mmHg, P = 0.012). Despite haemodynamic changes, there were no differences in central or local carotid arterial stiffness or indices of pulse wave morphology.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression and different immune-related pathways. There is a great interest in identifying miRNAs involved in immune cell development and function to elucidate the biological mechanisms underlying the immune system, its regulation, and disease. In this study, we aimed to investigate the association of circulating miRNAs with blood cell compositions and blood-based immune markers. Circulating levels of 2083 miRNAs were measured by RNA-sequencing in plasma samples of 1999 participants from the population-based Rotterdam Study collected between 2002 and 2005. Full blood count measurements were performed for absolute granulocyte, platelet, lymphocyte, monocyte, white, and red blood cell counts. Multivariate analyses were performed to test the association of miRNAs with blood cell compositions and immune markers. We evaluated the overlap between predicted target genes of candidate miRNAs associated with immune markers and genes determining the blood immune response markers. First, principal component regression analysis showed that plasma levels of circulating miRNAs were significantly associated with red blood cell, granulocyte, and lymphocyte counts. Second, the cross-sectional analysis identified 210 miRNAs significantly associated (P < 2.82 × 10-5) with neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index. Further genetic look-ups showed that target genes of seven identified miRNAs (miR-1233-3p, miR-149-3p, miR-150-5p, miR-342-3p, miR-34b-3p, miR-4644, and miR-7106-5p) were also previously linked to NLR and PLR markers. Collectively, our study suggests several circulating miRNAs that regulate the innate and adaptive immune systems, providing insight into the pathogenesis of miRNAs in immune-related diseases and paving the way for future clinical applications.

Abstract
The elastic properties of conductance arteries are one of the most important hemodynamic functions in the body, and data continue to emerge regarding the importance of their dysfunction in vascular aging and a range of cardiovascular diseases. Here, we provide new insight into the integrative physiology of arterial stiffening and its clinical consequence. We also comprehensively review progress made on pathways/molecules that appear today as important basic determinants of arterial stiffness, particularly those mediating the vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) contractility, plasticity and stiffness. We focus on membrane and nuclear mechanotransduction, clearance function of the vascular wall, phenotypic switching of VSMCs, immunoinflammatory stimuli and epigenetic mechanisms. Finally, we discuss the most important advances of the latest clinical studies that revisit the classical therapeutic concepts of arterial stiffness and lead to a patient-by-patient strategy according to cardiovascular risk exposure and underlying disease.

Abstract
PURPOSE Physical activity (PA) and body fat percentage (%BF) are independently associated with arterial stiffness, but it has not been explored if there is an associative pathway among these variables. This study examined whether %BF mediates the relationship between PA or sedentary behavior levels with arterial stiffness. METHODS Fifty adults (1:1 men:women; age 28 ± 11 year) had carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (CF-PWV) measured by applanation tonometry, %BF by bioelectrical impedance, and PA levels by accelerometry. Accelerometer data determined minutes per day spent in sedentary, light, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and Total PA. RESULTS Pearson correlation indicated statistically significant associations among age, %BF, CF-PWV, MVPA, and Total PA (r = 0.34-0.65, p < 0.05). Sedentary and light PA were not associated with CF-PWV. Mediation analysis indicated significant total effects of MVPA (β = - 0.34, p = 0.044) and age (β = 0.65, p < 0.001) on CF-PWV. %BF mediated the relationship between Total PA and CF-PWV due to indirect effect of Total PA on %BF (β = - 0.34, p = 0.02) and %BF on CF-PWV (β = 0.44, p = 0.002), and partially mediated the relationship between age and CF-PWV (β = 0.54, p < 0.001). Total PA retained its significant effect on %BF (β = - 0.28, p = 0.04) and the effect of %BF on CF-PWV remained significant (β = 0.26, p = 0.03), despite age having a significant effect on both %BF (β = 0.31, p = 0.023) and CF-PWV (β = 0.54, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS %BF mediated the relationship between Total PA and arterial stiffness, even after accounting for age. Engagement in more Total PA may help to reduce %BF, resulting in decreased arterial stiffness.

Abstract
The sensitization and hypertonicity of visceral afferents are highly relevant to the development and progression of cardiovascular and respiratory disease states. In this review, we described the evidence that the inflammatory process regulates visceral afferent sensitivity and tonicity, affecting the control of the cardiovascular and respiratory system. Some inflammatory mediators like nitric oxide, angiotensin II, endothelin-1, and arginine vasopressin may inhibit baroreceptor afferents and contribute to the baroreflex impairment observed in cardiovascular diseases. Cytokines may act directly on peripheral afferent terminals that transmit information to the central nervous system (CNS). TLR-4 receptors, which recognize lipopolysaccharide, were identified in the nodose and petrosal ganglion and have been implicated in disrupting the blood-brain barrier, which can potentiate the inflammatory process. For example, cytokines may cross the blood-brain barrier to access the CNS. Additionally, pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and some of their receptors have been identified in the nodose ganglion and carotid body. These pro-inflammatory cytokines also sensitize the dorsal root ganglion or are released in the nucleus of the solitary tract. In cardiovascular disease, pro-inflammatory mediators increase in the brain, heart, vessels, and plasma and may act locally or systemically to activate/sensitize afferent nervous terminals. Recent evidence demonstrated that the carotid body chemoreceptor cells might sense systemic pro-inflammatory molecules, supporting the novel proposal that the carotid body is part of the afferent pathway in the central anti-inflammatory reflexes. The exact mechanisms of how pro-inflammatory mediators affects visceral afferent signals and contribute to the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases awaits future research.

Abstract
Background and aims Arterial stiffness (AS), quantified by pulse wave velocity (PWV), arises due to impaired arterial elastic tissue and smooth muscle dysfunction. We aimed to examine the longitudinal association of genetic, lipid and inflammation biomarkers with PWV and how these associations may change with aging. Materials and methods We utilized genotype and four time-point biomarker data from the SardiNIA cohort [n = 6,301; mean baseline age 43.3 (SD 17.3); 58% females]. To investigate the association of PWV with genetic variants, lipid, and inflammation biomarkers, we employed linear mixed modeling, using age as the time scale. Biomarkers exhibiting significant longitudinal associations were categorized into tertiles and individuals within the second tertile or those with heterozygous alleles were excluded, leaving a cohort of 2,000 individuals. This cohort was further divided into four risk groups: low genetic and low biomarker (L-L), low genetic and high biomarker (L-H), high genetic and low biomarker (H-L), and high genetic and high biomarker risk (H-H). Subsequent analyses focused on these risk groups to assess their association to PWV with time. Results Using the complete dataset, we found a significant longitudinal association of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), fibrinogen (FGN), and total white blood cell count (TWBC) with PWV, all with p < 3.33 × 10-3. After grouping, individuals with homogeneous risk alleles of SNP rs3742207 and high baseline TG levels (H-H group) exhibited a 1.39-fold higher PWV (m/s) (95% CI, 1.17-1.64, p = 1.21 × 10-4) compared to the L-L group. Similarly, individuals in the H-H group of rs3742207-TWBC combination showed 1.75 times higher PWV (95% CI, 1.48-0.2.07, p = 1.01 × 10-10) compared to the L-L group. Similar patterns were observed for groups based on SNP rs7152623-TWBC risk. Furthermore, these associations became more pronounced with increasing age (p < 3.33 × 10-3). Conclusion The longitudinal association of TG and TWBC biomarkers with PWV varied by SNPs rs3742207 and rs7152623 genotype. Further studies are warranted to investigate the function of genetics, lipids, and inflammation biomarkers on PWV change.

Abstract
The associations between several blood inflammatory indicators and risk of vascular plaques remain inconclusive. A total of 4596 native rural residents in Southeast China were enrolled from the Fuqing cohort study. Blood cell counts and their composite indexes including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and 2 novel indicators (systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and systemic immune inflammation response index (SIRI)) were considered as inflammatory indicators. Common carotid and femoral intima-media thickness (IMT) and plaques were assessed using B-mode ultrasound. Unconditional or multinomial logistic regression was used to evaluate potential associations. The prevalence of multiple femoral plaques (defined as IMT ≥1.5 mm) was significantly higher among participants with the highest tertile of total leukocyte count (odds ratio, 1.78), neutrophil count (1.88), monocyte count (2.51), platelet count (1.68), NLR (1.93), PLR (1.57), SII (2.10), and SIRI (2.94). Higher levels of neutrophil count, platelet count, NLR, and SII were also found to have significant linear dose-response relationships with the prevalence of stenosis, especially in femoral arteries. In conclusion, several blood inflammatory biomarkers may contribute to, or are associated with, the presence of IMT ≥1.5 mm or stenosis especially in femoral arteries.

Abstract
Background Inflammation and lipid infiltration play crucial roles in the development of atherosclerosis. This study aimed to investigate the association between various complex indexes of blood cell types and lipid levels with the severity of coronary artery stenosis and their predictive value in coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods The retrospective study was conducted on 3,201 patients who underwent coronary angiography at the Department of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. The patients were divided into two groups: CHD group and non-CHD group. The CHD group was further classified into three subgroups (mild, moderate, severe) based on the tertiles of their Gensini score or SYNTAX score I. Various complex indexes of blood cell types and lipid levels were compared between the groups. Results It revealed a positive correlation between all complex indexes and the severity of coronary artery stenosis. The systemic inflammation-response index/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol count (SIRI/HDL) exhibited the strongest correlation with both severity scores (Gensini score: r = 0.257, P < 0.001; SYNTAX score I: r = 0.171, P < 0.001). The monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) was identified as a stronger independent risk factor for CHD. However, SIRI/HDL had higher diagnostic efficacy for CHD (sensitivity 66.7%, specificity 60.4%, area under curve 0.680, 95% CI: 0.658-0.701). Notably, the pan-immune-inflammation value multiplied by low-density lipoprotein cholesterol count (PIV × LDL) exhibited the highest sensitivity of 85.2%. Conclusion All complex indexes which we investigated exhibited positive correlations with the severity of coronary artery stenosis. SIRI/HDL demonstrated higher diagnostic efficiency for CHD and a significant correlation with the severity of coronary artery stenosis.

Abstract
Objective To explore the correlation between changes in the body fat ratio (BFR) and peripheral blood inflammatory markers according to smoking status in the adult Chinese male population. Methods A total of 865 participants (aged 20-70 years) were included. All participants underwent a physical health examination at Xiguzhou Central Hospital between October 2015 and July 2016, including measurements of body mass index (BMI), BFR, white blood cell [WBC] count, and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio [NLR]. Results WBCs count and NLR were significantly higher in adult male smokers than in non-smokers (P = 0.00). According to the BFR stratification analysis, WBC count and NLR significantly increased in accordance with BFR (P = 0.00). This finding remained significant after adjusting for relevant confounding factors (P < 0.05). Two-factor stratified analysis of smoking status and BFR showed that WBC count and NLR in the smoking population were higher than in nonsmokers, regardless of BFR. The interaction model showed that BFR and smoking status affected WBC count and NLR changes (P < 0.05). A significant positive correlation was found between WBC count, NLR, and BFR in adult male smokers; however, there was no significant correlation with BMI. There was an interaction between smoking and BFR, both of which synergistically affected changes in inflammatory markers, including WBC count and NLR. Conclusion WBC count and NLR of smokers with a high BFR were significantly higher than those of nonsmokers with a low BFR. It is important to provide evidence-based medical evidence for social tobacco control and to reduce BFR.

Abstract
Introduction The role of immune system activation in development and progression of atherosclerotic plaques has been postulated. Previous studies on inflammation have focused on the severity of coronary disease, the risk of acute coronary syndrome, and the prediction of outcomes based on hematological indices obtained from whole blood count analysis. Aim To analyze simple data of the whole blood count in relation to the location of calcified atherosclerotic lesions in patients treated with coronary rotational atherectomy (RA). Material and methods Eighty-one patients (57 (70%) males, mean (SD) age of 70.4 ±8 years) who underwent RA were enrolled in the study. The study group was divided into two subgroups depending on the proximal (group 1) and non-proximal (group 2) location of the culprit lesions in coronary arteries. The angiographic results were compared with demographic and clinical data and whole blood count analysis. Results The multivariable analysis revealed the predictive value of low neutrophil (OR = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.58-0.97, p = 0.030) and lymphocyte counts (OR = 0.27, 95% CI: 0.11-0.68, p = 0.005) for the proximal location of the culprit lesions. In the ROC analysis, combined neutrophil and lymphocyte counts showed the best prediction of proximal location, with the area under the curve of 0.747 (p < 0.001), yielding a sensitivity of 79.07% and specificity of 73.68%. Conclusions The lower neutrophil and lymphocyte counts in peripheral blood count analysis may be more representative of proximal calcified coronary lesions. The relationship between neutrophil and lymphocyte blood count and calcific atherosclerotic plaque location can indicate the inflammatory background of epicardial atheroma formation and distribution.

Abstract
Background and aims Estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) have been recently investigated as a marker of arterial stiffness and a novel systemic inflammatory indicator. This study aims to examine the independent and combined association of ePWV and SIRI with incident stroke and its subtypes. Methods Data of the Dongfeng-Tongji cohort study was analyzed for 9,154 middle-aged and older adults, who were free of cardiovascular disease and cancer and were followed up to document incident stroke. But their association with incident stroke events and its subtypes have not been well studied. Multivariable adjusted Cox regression models were used to determine the independent and combined association of ePWV and SIRI with incident stroke events. Results Over a 7.22-year follow-up, the cohort documented 491 stroke cases (387 ischemic stroke and 104 hemorrhagic stroke). The multivariate adjusted model showed that with each one-unit increase in the level of ePWV, the corresponding hazard ratios (HRs) (95% CI) for total stroke, ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke were 1.53 (95% CI, 1.23-1.90), 1.42 (95% CI, 1.11-1.83), and 1.92 (95% CI, 1.21-3.03), respectively. Similarly, with each one-unit increase in log-transformed levels of SIRI, the corresponding HRs (95% CI) for total stroke, ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke were 1.23 (95% CI,1.04-1.47), 1.16 (95% CI, 0.96-1.41), and 1.52 (95% CI, 1.05-2.20), respectively. There appeared to be a combined effect of ePWV and SIRI on stroke; Participants with high levels of both ePWV and SIRI had a higher risk of total stroke and hemorrhagic stroke, with multiple adjusted HR of 2.43 (95% CI, 1.09-5.42). Additionally, the incorporation of ePWV in addition to traditional cardiovascular risk factors significantly improved the predictive accuracy for total stroke with C statistic increased from 0.684 (95% CI, 0.661-0.707) to 0.687 (95% CI, 0.664-0.710; x2 = 6.65; p for difference = 0.010), and (suggestively) for ischemic stroke with C statistic increased from 0.684 (95% CI, 0.659-0.71) to 0.691(95% CI, 0.666-0.717; x2 = 3.13, p for difference = 0.077), respectively. Conclusions The presence of both high ePWV and SIRI individually, as well as together, was found to be associated with an increased incidence of stroke. The combined stroke risk assessment using these two indicators could potentially improve non-invasive assessment and treatment strategies for high-risk patients, as these indicators are easily accessible in clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with venous and arterial thromboembolism (VTE and ATE) and all-cause mortality (ACM) in hospitalized patients. High-quality data are needed on postdischarge outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease. OBJECTIVES To analyze outcomes and identify risk factors for ATE, VTE, and ACM in a high-risk subgroup of hospitalized COVID-19 patients with baseline cardiovascular disease. METHODS We investigated postdischarge rates and associated risk factors of ATE, VTE, and ACM in 608 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with coronary artery disease, carotid artery stenosis (CAS), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), or ischemic stroke. RESULTS Through 90 days postdischarge, outcome rates were: ATE 27.3% (10.2% myocardial infarction, 10.1% ischemic stroke, 13.2% systemic embolism, 12.7% major adverse limb event); VTE 6.9% (4.1% deep vein thrombosis, 3.6% pulmonary embolism); composite of ATE, VTE, or ACM 35.2% (214/608). Multivariate analysis showed significant association between this composite endpoint and age >75 years (odds ratio [OR]: 1.90, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.22-2.94, p = 0.004), PAD (OR: 3.23, 95% CI: 1.80-5.81, p ≤ 0.0001), CAS (OR: 1.74, 95% CI: 1.11-2.75, p = 0.017), congestive heart failure (CHF) (OR: 1.84, 95% CI: 1.02-3.35, p = 0.044), previous VTE (OR: 3.08, 95% CI: 1.75-5.42, p < 0.0001), and intensive care unit (ICU) admission (OR: 2.93, 95% CI: 1.81-4.75, p < 0.0001). CONCLUSION COVID-19 inpatients with cardiovascular disease experience high rates of ATE, VTE, or ACM through 90 days postdischarge. Age >75 years, PAD, CAS, CHF, previous VTE, and ICU admission are independent risk factors.

Abstract
The mechanisms of Salvia miltiorrhiza (SM) and Tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) in the treatment of atherosclerosis was examined by combining network pharmacology and molecular biology experiments. The TCMSP and BATMAN-TCM databases provided 104 SM candidate ingredients and 813 target genes, while GEO and GeneCards databases identified 35 overlapping targets between SM and coronary artery disease (CAD). From these data, we constructed a CAD-target-active ingredient network, and using Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG pathway analysis, 211 GO terms and 43 pathways were identified, which facilitated the construction of a key active ingredient-target-pathway network. We then constructed a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and performed molecular docking simulations between Tan IIA and 10 key target proteins to analyze the interactions between the molecule and the protein. SM was found to alleviate CAD by reducing the expression of key pro-inflammatory factors, such as COX-2 (PTGS2), MMP9, ICAM1, TNF-α, and NF-κB. Tan IIA was identified as the primary effective component of SM in treating CAD, with TNF and PTGS2 being its main targets. We further validated these findings using in vitro/in vivo experiments. The results showed that both SM and Tan IIA attenuated the buildup of plaque and the accumulation of lipids in ApoE-/- mice. In addition, SM and Tan IIA reduced vascular inflammatory factors expression in ApoE-/- mice and ox-LDL-cultured HUVECs. Furthermore, our findings showed that Tan IIA reduced vascular endothelial inflammation and prevented plaque formation via COX-2/TNF-a/NF-κB signaling pathway. We have demonstrated for the first time that Tan IIA plays a vital role in attenuating atherosclerosis by downregulating COX-2 expression.

Abstract
In post-menopausal women, aged individuals, and patients with diabetes mellitus or chronic renal disease, bone mineral density (BMD) decreases while the vasculature accumulates arterial calcifications (ACs). AC can be found in the tunica intima and/or in the tunica media. Prospective studies have shown that patients with initially low BMD and/or the presence of fragility fractures have at follow-up a significantly increased risk for coronary and cerebrovascular events and for overall cardiovascular mortality. Similarly, patients presenting with abdominal aorta calcifications (an easily quantifiable marker of vascular pathology) show a significant decrease in the BMD (and an increase in the fragility) of bones irrigated by branches of the abdominal aorta, such as the hip and lumbar spine. AC induction is an ectopic tissue biomineralization process promoted by osteogenic transdifferentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells as well as by local and systemic secreted factors. In many cases, the same regulatory molecules modulate bone metabolism but in reverse. Investigation of animal and in vitro models has identified several potential mechanisms for this reciprocal bone-vascular regulation, such as vitamin K and D sufficiency, advanced glycation end-products-RAGE interaction, osteoprotegerin/RANKL/RANK, Fetuin A, oestrogen deficiency and phytooestrogen supplementation, microbiota and its relation to diet, among others. Complete elucidation of these potential mechanisms, as well as their clinical validation via controlled studies, will provide a basis for pharmacological intervention that could simultaneously promote bone and vascular health.

Abstract
Background Women with a history of preeclampsia (PE) have been shown to have up to five times the risk of developing later-life cardiovascular disease (CVD). While PE and CVD are known to share clinical and molecular characteristics, there are limited studies investigating their shared genomics (genetics, epigenetics or transcriptomics) variation over time. Therefore, we sought to systematically review the literature to identify longitudinal studies focused on the genomic progression to CVD following PE. Methods A literature search of primary sources through PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Embase via OVID was performed. Studies published from January 1, 1980, to July 28, 2023, that investigated genomics in PE and CVD were eligible for inclusion. Included studies were screened based on Cochrane systematic review guidelines in conjunction with the PRISMA 2020 checklist. Eligible articles were further assessed for quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Results A total of 9,231 articles were screened, with 14 studies subjected to quality assessment. Following further evaluation, six studies were included for the final review. All six of these studies were heterogeneous in regard to CVD/risk factor as outcome, gene mapping approach, and in different targeted genes. The associated genes were RGS2, LPA, and AQP3, alongside microRNAs miR-122-5p, miR-126-3p, miR-146a-5p, and miR-206. Additionally, 12 differentially methylated regions potentially linked to later-life CVD following PE were identified. The only common variable across all six studies was the use of a case-control study design. Conclusions Our results provide critical insight into the heterogeneous nature of genomic studies investigating CVD following PE and highlight the urgent need for longitudinal studies to further investigate the genetic variation underlying the progression to CVD following PE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is characterized by progressive inflammatory changes. Inflammatory damage occurs in the veins, adjacent tissues, and can lead to structural changes in the arteries. The aim of this study is to analyze whether the degree of CVI is associated with arterial stiffness. METHODS Cross-sectional study including patients with CVI classified by clinical, etiological, anatomical, and pathophysiological classification (CEAP) 1 to 6. We performed correlation between the degree of CVI, central and peripheral arterial pressure, and arterial stiffness measured by brachial artery oscillometry. RESULTS We evaluated 70 patients, 53 of whom were women with a mean age of 54.7 years. Patients with advanced degrees of venous insufficiency CEAP 4,5,6, had higher levels of systolic, diastolic, central, and peripheral arterial pressures compared to those with early stages (CEAP 1,2,3). The CEAP 4,5,6 group had higher arterial stiffness indices than the CEAP 1,2,3 group: pulse wave velocity (PWV) 9.3 m/s vs. 7.0 m/s, P < 0.001; augmentation pressure (AP) 8.0 mm Hg vs. 6.3 mm Hg; P = 0.04. There was a positive correlation between the degree of venous insufficiency measured by the venous clinical severity score, villalta score and CEAP classification, and the arterial stiffness indices (Spearman's coefficient = 0.62 for PWV and CEAP, P < 0.01). The factors influencing PWV were age, peripheral systolic arterial pressure (SAPp), and AP. CONCLUSIONS There is a correlation between the degree of venous disease and arterial structural changes characterized by arterial pressure and stiffness indices. Degenerative changes secondary to venous insufficiency are associated with impairment of the arterial system, which has implications for the development of cardiovascular disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The research involving vascular comorbidity in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) could be advanced through investigations applying measurements of vascular function such as pulse wave velocity or flow mediated dilation as mechanistic endpoints in the study of physical comorbidity management in MS across the lifespan. We conducted a scoping review of research on vascular function parameters and outcomes in MS and developed a research agenda for future inquiry. METHODS We searched PubMed from inception through February 2023 for articles involving relevant central and peripheral vascular function data or correlates of vascular function (arterial stiffness, endothelial function, blood pressure parameters, etc.) in conjunction with relevant outcomes (walking function, cognition, etc.) in MS. Studies were limited to English-language and primary research articles. RESULTS Our search and subsequent screening identified 10 relevant articles. Four papers focused on arterial stiffness and reported pulse wave velocity and arterial compliance in MS compared with controls. Two papers focused on endothelial function and reported flow-mediated dilation in MS compared with controls. There was evidence that arterial stiffness and endothelial function were associated with cognition and disease progression in MS, respectively. One paper reported that physical activity was associated with arterial stiffness in MS. There was one protocol paper examining the effect of a home-based exercise program on markers of subclinical atherosclerosis; however, the results are unpublished, and there was no literature beyond this surrounding the impact of lifestyle behavior (e.g., diet) or exercise interventions on vascular function. CONCLUSION There is emerging evidence for vascular dysfunction in MS, and this is associated with cognition and disease progression; we know very little about approaches for managing vascular dysfunction in MS. To that end, we offer an agenda for research on measurements and outcomes of vascular function in relation to MS and disease attributes, along with proposed mechanisms and lifestyle changes that could aid in managing vascular dysfunction.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This review aims to summarize the latest findings on mechanosensing in atherosclerosis, elucidating the molecular mechanisms, cellular players, and potential therapeutic targets. RECENT FINDINGS Atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the buildup of lipid-laden plaque within arterial walls, is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease-related mortality and morbidity. Interestingly, atherosclerosis predominantly occurs in arterial areas with curves and branches. In these regions, endothelial cells encounter irregular blood flow with distinctive low-intensity fluctuating shear stress. On the other hand, straight sections of arteries, subjected to a consistent flow and related high-intensity, one-way shear stress, are relatively safeguarded against atherosclerosis due to shear-dependent, disease-preventing endothelial cell reactions. In recent years, researchers have been investigating the role of mechanosensing in the development and progression of atherosclerosis. At the core of mechanosensing is the ability of various cells to sense and respond to biomechanical forces in their environment. In the context of atherosclerosis, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and immune cells are subjected to various mechanical or physical stimuli, including shear stress, cyclic strain, and matrix stiffness. These mechanical cues play a crucial role in regulating cellular behavior and contribute to the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis. Accumulating evidence suggests that various mechanical or physical cues play a critical role in the development and promotion of atherosclerosis.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disorders (CVDs) represent a global challenge and are regarded as one of the leading causes of mortality. The role of inflammation as a risk factor in these disorders has been studied, with the accelerated atherosclerotic process being a crucial factor in the pathogenesis. Several inflammatory biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), Interleukins (ILs), Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), and others have been identified that play a role in the atherosclerotic process, thus linking systemic inflammatory conditions with CVDs, including acute myocardial infarction (AMI), chronic heart failure (CHF), venous thromboembolism (VTE) and others. These markers could be used to predict the risk of CVDs. Understanding the precise mechanisms can lead to therapeutic strategies targeted at pro-inflammatory processes. We aim to provide an overview of the existing literature on the role of inflammation in various cardiovascular disorders and identify different inflammatory biomarkers and therapeutic targets in this comprehensive literature review. We reviewed 190 references published between 2013 and August 3, 2023, in well-reputed journals and analyzed eight selected papers in-depth. We describe the pathophysiologic pathways that lead to atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular pathologies. Several inflammatory cytokines encompassing various groups were identified to be causing endothelial dysfunction, leading to an increased risk for CVDs. Polymorphisms in the genes for different cytokines also led to different levels of susceptibility to CVDs. Nevertheless, future research detailing the inflammatory pathways and their link with CVDs would lead to better outcomes for patients with preexisting and new onset of CVDs as well as chronic inflammatory disorders.

Abstract
Gut microbiota metabolites have been mechanistically linked to inflammatory pathway activation and atherosclerosis, which are major causes of vascular stiffness (VS). Aiming to investigate if the gut microbiome might be involved in VS development, we performed a cross-sectional study (n = 3,087), nested within the population-based European Prospective Investigations into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Potsdam. We investigated the correlation of the gut microbiota (alpha diversity and taxa abundance) with 3 vascular stiffness measures: carotid-femoral (PWV), aortic augmentation index (AIX) and ankle-brachial index (ABI). Shannon index was not significantly associated with VS but the number of observed Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASV) was positively associated with PWV and AIX. We found a total of 19 ASVs significantly associated with at least one VS measure in multivariable-adjusted models. One ASV (classified as Sutterella wadsworthensis) was associated with 2 VS measures, AIX (- 0.11 ± 0.04) and PWV (-0.14 ± 0.03). Other examples of ASVs associated with VS were Collinsella aerofaciens, previously reported to be affected by diet and Bacteroides uniformis, commercially available as probiotics. In conclusion, our study suggests a potential role of individual components of the gut microbiota in the aetiology of VS.

Abstract
Background. Chronic inflammation is associated with incident cardiovascular events. We study the association between biomarkers of inflammation and subclinical vascular dysfunction measured as proximal aortic stiffness. Methods. MRI imaging was performed in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) at baseline (2000) and at the 10-year follow-up. Aortic arch pulse wave velocity (PWV) and ascending and descending aorta distensibility (AAD, DAD) were measured in 1223 asymptomatic individuals at both exams. Linear regression was used to study the association of baseline inflammation-C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL6), and fibrinogen (Fib)-with baseline and 10-year changes in aortic stiffness (PWV, AAD, DAD). Results. The mean age of the participants was 59 ± 9 years, 47.8% of them were men, 32.6% were hypertensive at baseline, and 7.6% were diabetic. At baseline and follow-up, the mean AAD values were, respectively, 1.73 × 10-3 mmHg-1 and 1.57 × 10-3 mmHg-1, the mean DAD values were 2.19 × 10-3 mmHg-1 and 1.99 × 10-3 mmHg-1, and the mean PWV values were 8.10 m/s and 8.99 m/s. At baseline, the AAD (in 10-3 mmHg-1) and DAD (in 10-3 mmHg-1) were inversely associated with CRP (in mg/L) (AAD coeff: -0.047, p-value: 0.011, DAD coeff: -0.068, p-value: <0.001) and IL6 (in pg/mL) (AAD coeff: -0.098, p-value: 0.003, DAD coeff: -0.14, p-value: <0.001) in a univariable analysis but not after adjustment for demographic variables or cardiovascular risk factors. The baseline DAD was inversely associated with Fib (in mg/dL) (coeff: -0.334, p-value: 0.001). The baseline PWV (in m/s) was positively associated with IL6 (in pg/mL) in a univariable analysis (coeff: 0.054, p-value: 0.014). In a longitudinal analysis, the 10-year changes in DAD were inversely associated with CRP, even after adjustment for demographics and risk factors (DAD coeff: -0.08, p-value 0.044). Conclusions. Higher CRP levels at baseline were independently associated with a 10-year increase in aortic stiffness, measured as decreased aortic distensibility.

Abstract
We investigated the prognostic impact of central blood pressure (BP) on outcomes in patients with embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS). The prognostic value of central BP according to ESUS subtype was also evaluated. We recruited patients with ESUS and data on their central BP parameters (central systolic BP [SBP], central diastolic BP [DBP], central pulse pressure [PP], augmentation pressure [AP], and augmentation index [AIx]) during admission. ESUS subtype classification was arteriogenic embolism, minor cardioembolism, two or more causes, and no cause. Major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) was defined as recurrent stroke, acute coronary syndrome, hospitalization for heart failure, or death. Over a median of 45.8 months, 746 patients with ESUS were enrolled and followed up. Patients had a mean age of 62.8 years, and 62.2% were male. Multivariable Cox regression analysis showed that central SBP and PP were associated with MACE. All-cause mortality was independently associated with AIx. In patients with no cause ESUS, central SBP and PP, AP, and AIx were independently associated with MACE. AP and AIx were independently associated with all-cause mortality (all p < 0.05). We demonstrated that central BP can predict poor long-term prognosis in patients with ESUS, especially those with the no cause ESUS subtype.

Abstract
Purpose The present study verified the effect of an m-health exercise intervention using a 12-week exercise program on body composition, vascular function, and the ANS. Patients and Methods Thirty obese adult women participants were randomized (n = 15 each) into the experimental (EXP) group, those who performed mobile-health (m-health) exercises using a wearable device (Charge 4, Fitbit, USA) and AI-fit web page, or the control (CON) group, those who continued their daily activities as before. Muscle function, cardiorespiratory endurance, and flexibility were assessed during the exercise program using the AI-fit web page and wearable device. The EXP group participated in exercise interventions using the m-health system for 12 weeks, while the CON group was encouraged to maintain their normal daily routines. Body composition, vascular function, and autonomic nervous system (ANS) were evaluated before and after the intervention. Results Significant decreases were noted in fat mass (Post - Pre: -1.47 kg; p < 0.001) and percent body fat (Post - Pre: -2.11%; p < 0.05). Flow-mediated dilatation (Post - Pre: 2.63%; p < 0.001) was significantly increased, and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (Post - Pre: -91.49 cm·sec-1; p < 0.01) was significantly decreased. RMSSD (Post - Pre: 10.43 ms; p < 0.01), NN50 (Post-Pre: 24.04; p < 0.05), pNN50 (Post - Pre: 7.70%; p < 0.05) and HF (Post-Pre: 179.60 ms2; p < 0.05) increased significantly. Conclusion In conclusion, m-health exercise interventions using AI fit and wearable devices are effective in preventing obesity and improving vascular function, and ANS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Cerebral infarction due to cerebral vasospasm (IVS) after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is associated with poor outcomes and symptomatic cerebral vasospasm (SVS). However, the difference of risk factors between SVS and IVS was unclear to date. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the risk factors for SVS and IVS based on the registry study. METHODS The modified World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies scale study comprises 1863 cases. Patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage who underwent radical treatment within 72 hours with a premorbid modified Rankin Scale score 0-2 as the inclusion criteria were retrospectively examined. The risk factors for SVS and IVS were analyzed using multivariable logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Among them, 1090 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into 2 groups according to SVS and IVS; 273 (25%) patients with SVS and 92 (8.4%) with IVS. Age was not a risk factor for SVS, but for IVS, and Fisher scale was a risk factor for SVS, but not for IVS. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of IVS was not associated with the Fisher scale but with older age, suggesting possible factors other than SVS. Different associated factors between SVS and IVS were confirmed in this study.

Abstract
Due to the accompaniment of vascular endothelial inflammation during the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), treatment modalities against vascular endothelial inflammation have been intensively investigated for CVD prevention and/or treatment. Vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) is a typical transmembrane inflammatory protein specifically expressed by inflammatory vascular endothelial. By inhibiting VCAM-1 expression through the miR-126 mediated pathway, vascular endothelial inflammation can be efficiently relieved. Inspired by this, we developed a miR-126-loaded immunoliposome with VCAM-1 monoclonal antibody (VCAMab) decorated at its surface. This immunoliposome can be directly targeted to VCAM-1 at the inflammatory vascular endothelial membrane surface and achieve highly efficient treatment against inflammation response. The cellular experiment results showed the immunoliposome had a higher uptake rate towards inflammatory human vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and can significantly downregulate the VCAM-1 expression level of inflammatory HUVECs. In vivo investigation further demonstrated that this immunoliposome displayed a higher accumulation rate at vascular inflammatory dysfunction sites than its non-VCAMab-modified counterpart. These results suggest that this novel nanoplatform can effectively deliver miR-126 to vascular inflammatory endothelium, opening a new avenue for the safe and effective delivery of miRNA for potential clinical application.

Abstract
Background Previous studies have reported the separate association of arterial stiffness (AS) and blood pressure with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Objectives The aim of this study was to investigate the risk stratification capacity of AS on incident PAD beyond blood pressure status. Methods A total of 8,960 participants from Beijing Health Management Cohort were enrolled at the first health visit between 2008 and 2018 and then followed until the incidence of PAD or 2019. Elevated AS was defined as brachial-ankle pulse-wave velocity (baPWV) >1,400 cm/s, including moderate stiffness (1,400 ≤ baPWV <1,800 cm/s) and severe stiffness (baPWV ≥1,800 cm/s). PAD was defined as ankle-brachial index <0.9. A frailty Cox model was used to calculate the HR, integrated discrimination improvement, and net reclassification improvement. Results During follow-up, 225 participants (2.5%) developed PAD. After adjusting for confounding factors, the highest risk for PAD was observed in the group with elevated AS and blood pressure (HR: 2.253; 95% CI: 1.472-3.448). Among participants with ideal blood pressure and those with well-controlled hypertension, PAD risk was still significant for severe AS. The results remained consistent in multiple sensitivity analyses. In addition, baPWV significantly improved the predictive capacity for PAD risk beyond systolic and diastolic blood pressures (integrated discrimination improvement 0.020 and 0.190, net reclassification improvement 0.037 and 0.303). Conclusions This study suggests the clinical importance of combined evaluation and control of AS and blood pressure for the risk stratification and prevention of PAD.

Abstract
Objective To examine the cross-sectional associations of individual measures of SES-educational attainment and household income-and the joint effects of SES with PWV, as well as the SES-race interaction, in a cohort of older African American and White adults. Methods Data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study were used to evaluate the cross-sectional associations of individual and joint SES [education and income] and carotid femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV), a subclinical marker of arterial stiffness, and the interaction of SES and race using adjusted multivariable linear regression models in a cohort of 3342 men and women aged 67-89 years free of CVD in 2011-2013. Results Participants were 64% female, 23% African American, mean cfPWV (12.3±3.5-African American and 11.6±3.9-White participants). Post-graduate education compared to less than high school was significantly associated with lower cfPWV (less stiffness) in African American (β = -1.28 m/s; 95% CI, -1.97, -0.59) but not in White (β = -0.69 m/s; 95% CI, -1.39, 0.01) participants. Income ≥$50K as compared to <$25K, was associated with lower cfPWV both in African American (β = -0.82 m/s; 95% CI, -1.42, -0.22) and White (β = -0.76 m/s; 95% CI, -1.19, -0.32) participants. The interaction of race and individual measures of SES on cfPWV in African American and White adults were not statistically significant (p-value >0.10). Conclusions Higher SES was cross-sectionally associated with lower arterial stiffness in this cohort; the data did not support differences by race. Prospective studies of SES and cfPWV are needed to efficiently compare larger racially and regionally diverse populations with a wider range of socioeconomic profiles to better identify subgroup CVD risk.

Abstract
The hallmark of orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) is time-consuming during clinical treatments. The acceleration of OTM through modulating proliferation and apoptosis of periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) possesses the potential application in clinical treatments. Here, we established an in vitro model with a graded increase in substrate stiffness to investigate the underlying mechanism of proliferation and apoptosis of PDLCs. The role of the integrin-linked kinase (ILK) in response to substrate stiffness was investigated by the depletion model of PDLCs. We found that the proliferation and apoptosis of PDLCs show a stiffness-dependent property with stiffer substrates favoring increased bias at the transcript level. Depleting integrin-linked kinase diluted the correlation between PDLCs behaviors and substrate stiffness. Our results suggest that ILK plays a significant role in modulating PDLC proliferation and apoptosis and can serve as a potential target for accelerating OTM.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Based on the angiogenetic, transcriptional profile of non-diseased and arteriosclerotic vessels, we aim to identify the leucocytic markers as a potential, minimal invasive tool supporting diagnosis of vascular pathology. METHODS Transcriptional profiling was performed with Angiogenesis RT2 Profiler PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) array on three non-pathological and three arteriosclerotic vessels, followed by immunohistochemical staining. Based on these screening results, selected transcripts were employed for qPCR with specific primers and investigated on the blood RNA (RiboNucleic Acid) obtained from nine healthy controls and 29 patients with cardiovascular disorders. Thereafter, expression of these transcripts was investigated in vitro in human monocytes under calcification-mimicking conditions. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS Transcriptional profiling on the vessels revealed that out of 84 targets investigated two were up-regulated more than 100-fold, 18 more than 30 and 15 more than 10, while the most noticeable down-regulation was observed by ephrin-A3 and platelet-derived growth factor alpha (PDGFA) genes. Based on the vessel results, investigations of the selected blood transcripts revealed that thrombospondin 1 (THBS1), thrombospondin 3 (THBS3), transforming growth factor, beta receptor 1 (TGFBR1), platelet-derived growth factor alpha, plasminogen activator, urokinase (PLAU) and platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 (PECAM-1) were significantly elevated in cardiovascular blood as compared to corresponding controls. Induction of calcification-related conditions in vitro to human THP-1 monocytes led to noticeable modulation of these transcripts. Taken together, these data demonstrate that leucocytic THBS1, THBS3, TGFBR1, platelet-derived growth factor alpha, PLAU and PECAM-1 have a correlation with cardiovascular disorders and could be used as a supportive tool predicting development of this pathological condition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Globally, helminth infections and cardiometabolic diseases often overlap in populations and individuals. Neither the causal relationship between helminth infections and cardiometabolic diseases nor the effect of helminth eradication on cardiometabolic risk have been reviewed systematically in a large number of human and animal studies. METHODS We conducted a systematic review assessing the reported effects of helminth infections and anthelmintic treatment on the development and/or severity of cardiometabolic diseases and risk factors. The search was limited to the most prevalent human helminths worldwide. This study followed PRISMA guidelines and was registered prospectively in PROSPERO (CRD42021228610). Searches were performed on December 10, 2020 and rerun on March 2, 2022 using Ovid MEDLINE ALL (1946 to March 2, 2022), Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Global Index Medicus, and Ovid Embase (1974 to March 2, 2022). Randomized clinical trials, cohort, cross-sectional, case-control, and animal studies were included. Two reviewers performed screening independently. RESULTS Eighty-four animal and human studies were included in the final analysis. Most studies reported on lipids (45), metabolic syndrome (38), and diabetes (30), with fewer on blood pressure (18), atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (11), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP, 5), and non-atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (4). Fifteen different helminth infections were represented. On average, helminth-infected participants had less dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Eleven studies examined anthelmintic treatment, of which 9 (82%) reported post-treatment increases in dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes or glucose levels. Results from animal and human studies were generally consistent. No consistent effects of helminth infections on blood pressure, hsCRP, or cardiac function were reported except some trends towards association of schistosome infection with lower blood pressure. The vast majority of evidence linking helminth infections to lower cardiometabolic diseases was reported in those with schistosome infections. CONCLUSIONS Helminth infections may offer protection against dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This protection may lessen after anthelmintic treatment. Our findings highlight the need for mechanistic trials to determine the pathways linking helminth infections with cardiometabolic diseases. Such studies could have implications for helminth eradication campaigns and could generate new strategies to address the global challenge of cardiometabolic diseases.

Profiling Inflammatory Biomarkers following Curcumin Supplementation: An Umbrella Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials. Abstract
Objective Several meta-analyses have shown that curcumin can reduce inflammatory biomarkers, but the findings are inconsistent. The objective of the present umbrella meta-analysis was to provide a more accurate estimate of the overall effects of curcumin on inflammatory biomarkers. Methods The following international databases were systematically searched until March 20, 2022: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. A random-effects model was applied to evaluate the effects of curcumin on inflammatory biomarkers. Meta-analysis studies investigating the effects of curcumin supplementation on inflammatory biomarkers with corresponding effect sizes (ES) and confidence intervals (CI) were included in the umbrella meta-analysis. GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) was used to evaluate the certainty of evidence. Results A meta-analyses of ten studies with 5,870 participants indicated a significant decrease in C-reactive protein (CRP) (ES = -0.74; 95% CI: -1.11, -0.37, p < 0.001; I2 = 62.1%, p=0.015), interleukin 6 (IL-6) (ES = -1.07; 95% CI: -1.71, -0.44, p < 0.001; I2 = 75.6%, p < 0.001), and tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α) levels (ES: -1.92, 95% CI: -2.64, -1.19, p < 0.0; I2 = 18.1%, p=0.296) following curcumin supplementation. Greater effects on CRP and TNF-α were evident in trials with a mean age >45 years and a sample size >300 participants. Conclusion The umbrella of meta-analysis suggests curcumin as a promising agent in reducing inflammation as an adjunctive therapeutic approach in diseases whose pathogenesis is related to a higher level of inflammatory biomarkers.

Abstract
Background In this study, we aimed to determine the mortality risk factors and whether placement of a vena cava filter improves the prognosis of acute upper extremity deep vein thrombosis (UEDVT). Methods Clinical data and follow-up results were retrospectively analyzed. Cox regression analysis was conducted to identify the risk factors associated with all-cause mortality in all patients and subgroups of patients. Results are expressed as hazard ratio (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) were used to determine the optimal cut-off value. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were constructed and compared by the Log rank test. Results The study cohort comprised 109 patients of median age 56 years (47.5, 64.5). The median follow-up time was 25 months (8, 47): 39 patients (35.8%) had died by 12 months, 55 (50.5%) by 36 months, and 60 (55%) by the end of follow-up. Presence of malignancy (HR: 5.882, 95% CI: 2.128-16.667), D-dimer (HR: 1.56, 95% CI: 1.09-1.94), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR; HR: 2.02, 95% CI: 1.15-3.54), and the systemic immune/inflammatory index (SII; HR: 1.471, 95% CI: 1.062-1.991) were identified as independent risk factors for mortality. Subgroup analysis of patients with malignancy determined gender (HR: 2.936, 95% CI: 1.599-5.393) and PLR (HR: 1.427,95% CI: 1.023-1.989) as independent risk factors. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the mortality rate was much higher in patients with malignancy, high D-dimer (≥ 0.92ug/mL), high PLR (≥ 291) and high SII (≥ 1487). However, there was no significant difference between patients with and without vena cava filters. Conclusion In this study, we identified PLR as an new independent predictor of mortality in patients with acute UEDVT. Emergency placement of a vena cava filter did not improve long-term prognosis.

Abstract
Vascular calcification (VC) is recognized as a pathological vascular disorder associated with various diseases, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, aortic valve stenosis, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, as well as chronic kidney disease. Therefore, it is a life-threatening state for human health. There were several studies targeting mechanisms of VC that revealed the importance of vascular smooth muscle cells transdifferentiating, phosphorous and calcium milieu, as well as matrix vesicles on the progress of VC. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of VC need to be elucidated. Though there is no acknowledged effective therapeutic strategy to reverse or cure VC clinically, recent evidence has proved that VC is not a passive irreversible comorbidity but an active process regulated by many factors. Some available approaches targeting the underlying molecular mechanism provide promising prospects for the therapy of VC. This review aims to summarize the novel findings on molecular mechanisms and therapeutic interventions of VC, including the role of inflammatory responses, endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, iron homeostasis, metabolic imbalance, and some related signaling pathways on VC progression. We also conclude some recent studies on controversial interventions in the clinical practice of VC, such as calcium channel blockers, renin-angiotensin system inhibitions, statins, bisphosphonates, denosumab, vitamins, and ion conditioning agents.

Abstract
Resveratrol is a bioactive polyphenolic compound mainly present in grapes and red wine. It is known to exert beneficial effects in various experimental settings, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, and immunoregulatory. Accumulating evidence suggests these health benefits might be, at least partially, attributed to resveratrol's role in protecting the intestinal barrier, regulating the gut microbiome, and inhibiting intestinal inflammation. The purpose of this review is to examine the bioactivities of resveratrol in disease prevention and health promotion from the standpoint of regulating the gut microbiome. The article aims to provide additional insight into the potential applications of resveratrol in the food and nutraceutical industry.

Abstract
Background The occurrence of ischemic stroke (IS) is associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The cancer burden of NAFLD complicated by IS also warrants attention. This study aimed to identify candidate immune biomarkers linked to NAFLD and IS and analyze their association with cancer. Methods Two of each of the NAFLD and IS datasets were downloaded, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and module genes were screened via weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA). Subsequently, utilizing machine learning (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression, random forest and support vector machine-recursive feature elimination) and immune cell infiltration analysis, immune-related candidate biomarkers for NAFLD with IS were determined. Simultaneously, a nomogram was established, the diagnostic efficacy was assessed, and the role of candidate biomarkers in cancer was ascertained through pan-cancer analyses. Results In this study, 117 and 98 DEGs were identified from the combined NAFLD and IS datasets, respectively, and 279 genes were obtained from the most significant modules of NAFLD. NAFLD module genes and IS DEGs were intersected to obtain nine genes, which were enriched in the inflammatory response and immune regulation. After overlapping the results of the three machine learning algorithms, six candidate genes were obtained, based on which a nomogram was constructed. The calibration curve demonstrated good accuracy, and the candidate genes had high diagnostic values. The genes were found to be related to the immune dysregulation of stroke, and RRS1 was strongly associated with the prognosis, immune cell infiltration, microsatellite instability (MSI), and tumor mutation burden (TMB). Conclusion Six common candidate immune-related genes (PTGS2, FCGR1A, MMP9, VNN3, S100A12, and RRS1) of NAFLD and IS were identified, and a nomogram for diagnosing NAFLD with IS was established. RRS1 may serve as a candidate gene for predicting the prognosis of patients with cancer who have NAFLD complicated by IS, which could aid in their diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has become a major public health problem over the years, and atherosclerosis (AS) is one of the main complications of SLE associated with serious cardiovascular consequences in this patient population. The present study aimed to identify potential biomarkers for SLE patients with AS. METHODS Five microarray datasets (GSE50772, GSE81622, GSE100927, GSE28829, GSE37356) were downloaded from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus database. The Limma package was used to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in AS. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to identify significant module genes associated with SLE. Functional enrichment analysis, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network construction, and machine learning algorithms (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso, Support Vector Machine-Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE), and random forest) were applied to identify hub genes. Subsequently, we generated a nomogram and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) for predicting the risk of AS in SLE patients. Finally, immune cell infiltrations were analyzed, and Consensus Cluster Analysis was conducted based on Single Sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA) scores. RESULTS Five hub genes (SPI1, MMP9, C1QA, CX3CR1, and MNDA) were identified and used to establish a nomogram that yielded a high predictive performance (area under the curve 0.900-0.981). Dysregulated immune cell infiltrations were found in AS, with positive correlations with the five hub genes. Consensus clustering showed that the optimal number of subtypes was 3. Compared to subtypes A and B, subtype C presented higher expression of the five hub genes, immune cell infiltration levels and immune checkpoint expression. CONCLUSION Our study systematically identified five candidate hub genes (SPI1, MMP9, C1QA, CX3CR1, MNDA) and established a nomogram that could predict the risk of AS with SLE using various bioinformatic analyses and machine learning algorithms. Our findings provide the foothold for future studies on potential crucial genes for AS in SLE patients. Additionally, the dysregulated immune cell proportions and immune checkpoint expressions in AS with SLE were identified.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) has been proposed as a potential alternative to carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity to assess the degree of aortic stiffness, and may predict cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes and mortality in the general population. However, whether arterial stiffness estimated by ePWV predicts all-cause and cause-specific mortality in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) has not been reported. METHODS This was a prospective cohort study with data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2014 and followed up until the end of December 2019. 5,235U.S. adults with DM (age≥20years) were included in the study. Arterial stiffness was estimated by ePWV. Survey-weighted Cox proportional hazards models were performed to assess the hazard ratios (HRs), and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the associations of ePWV with all-cause and cause-specific mortality. Meanwhile, the generalized additive model was used to visually assess the dose-dependent relationship between ePWV and mortality. As a complementary analysis, the relationship between mean blood pressure (MBP) and risk of mortality was also examined. Multiple imputations accounted for missing data. RESULTS For the 5,235 DM patients, the weighted mean age was 57.4 years, and 51.07% were male. During a median follow-up period of 115 months (interquartile range 81-155 months; 53,159 person-years), 1,604 all-cause deaths were recorded. In the fully adjusted Cox regression model, every 1 m/s increase in ePWV was associated with 56% (HR 1.56; 95% CI, 1.44 to 1.69) increase in the risk of all-cause. In addition, a nonlinear relationship between ePWV and all-cause mortality was observed (P for non-linear=0.033). Similar results were obtained after subgroup analysis and multiple imputations. Besides, the risk of most cause-specific mortality, except for accident and renal disease-specific mortality, increased from 53% to 102% for every 1 m/s increase in ePWV. CONCLUSIONS In the diabetic population, ePWV is independently associated with all-cause and most cause-specific mortality risks. ePWV may be a useful tool for assessing mortality risk.

Abstract
Smoothelin-like 1 (SMTNL1) modulates the contractile performance of smooth muscle and thus has a key role in vascular homeostasis. Elevated vascular tone, recognized as a contributor to the development of progressive cardiac dysfunction, was previously found with SMTNL1 deletion. In this study, we assessed cardiac morphology and function of male and female, wild-type (Smtnl1+/+) and global SMTNL1 knockout (Smtnl1-/-) mice at 10 weeks of age. Gross dissection revealed distinct cardiac morphology only in males; Smtnl1-/- hearts were significantly smaller than Smtnl1+/+, but the left ventricle (LV) proportion of heart mass was greater. Male Smtnl1-/- mice also displayed increased ejection fraction and fractional shortening, as well as elevated aortic and pulmonary flow velocities. The impact of cardiac stress with pressure overload by transverse aortic constriction (TAC) was examined in male mice. With TAC banding, systolic function was preserved, but the LV filling pressure was selectively elevated due to relaxation impairment. Smtnl1-/- mice displayed higher early/passive filling velocity of LV/early mitral annulus velocity ratio (E/E' ratio) and myocardial performance index along with a prolonged isovolumetric relaxation time. Taken together, the findings support a novel, sex-dimorphic role for SMTNL1 in modulating cardiac structure and function of mice.

Abstract
Inflammatory factors, such as the IL-1 family, are generally acknowledged to be involved in systemic diseases and IL-1α and IL-1β, in particular, have been linked to cardiovascular disease with IL-18, IL-33, IL-36, IL-37 and IL-38 yet to be explored. The current review aims to summarize mechanisms of IL-18, IL-33, IL-36, IL-37 and IL-38 in myocardial infarction, hypertension, arrhythmia, valvular disease and aneurysm and to explore the potential for cardiovascular disease treatment strategies and discuss future directions for prevention and treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess the presence of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with psoriatic arthritis using ultrasound radiofrequency data technology. METHODS In all, 29 psoriatic arthritis patients and 42 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were included in this cross-sectional study. Arterial stiffness and carotid intima-media thickness measurements were performed in bilateral common carotid arteries using ultrasound radiofrequency data technology in all participants. RESULTS In psoriatic arthritis patients, the mean carotid intima-media thickness, α and β stiffness indices, and pulsed wave velocity value were significantly higher than those in the control group (542.3 (81.3) vs. 487.9 (64.1), 9.3 (6.3) vs. 3.9 (0.1), 18.7 (17.7) vs. 8.04 (4.2), and 10.2 (3.8) vs. 6.4 (1.5), p<0.05). The mean distensibility coefficient and compliance coefficient values of the patient group were significantly lower than those of the control group (0.014 (0.01) vs. 0.03 (0.01) and 0.57 (0.33) vs. 1.02 (0.4), p<0.05). No significant correlation was found between carotid artery hemodynamic parameters and symptom duration, duration of diagnosis and treatment, disease activity ındex for psoriatic arthritis scores, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and C-reactive protein levels (p>0.05). CONCLUSION In the results of our study, evidence of subclinical atherosclerosis has been detected in psoriatic arthritis patients without clinically evident cardiovascular disease or traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
