Bağcı U, Ulusan Bağcı Ö. A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the literature between 1945 and 2024 about urinary tract echinococcosis. Parasitol Int 2024; 103:102945. [PMID: 39134297 DOI: 10.1016/j.parint.2024.102945] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 04/03/2024] [Revised: 08/03/2024] [Accepted: 08/06/2024] [Indexed: 08/17/2024]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Echinococcosis is a parasitic disease caused by Echinocccus granulosus and Echinococcus multilocularis and declared a neglected tropical disease by the World Health Organization. The disease is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, especially in India, Australia, China, Turkey, South America, the Middle East, and Eastern European countries. Bibliometric analysis is a popular research trend that gains the advantage of evaluating all the studies about one specific topic and emphasizing the importance and place of the subject in the literature. With this study, we aim to evaluate all the global published literature in the Web of Science core collection database about urinary tract echinococcosis between 1945 and 2024. METHODS All documents indexed in the Web of Science core collection database between 1945 and 2024 were scanned on March 29, 2024. VOSviewer program 1.6.20 and MS Office Excel 2017 programs were used for forward analysis. RESULTS 152 documents were obtained, 102 of which were indexed in SCI-Expanded journals. Turkey (21.71%) was the leading country in terms of the total number of documents, followed by India (21.05%), but citations of Indian publications were higher (21.77%). Spain was in the first rank in terms of average citations per document (19.33). Most of the documents were original articles (78.29%). Okan Akhan was the most prolific author, with three documents. The most-cited document was conducted in 1997 by Angulo et al. and received 74 citations. With seven publications, Urology Case Reports was the journal that published the most documents on urinary tract echinococcosis. CONCLUSIONS Evaluating the studies on urinary system echinococcosis with bibliometric analysis, it is understood that although the number of studies has gradually increased over the years, they are still less than expected. We recommend that more studies be conducted to determine the true prevalence of echinococcosis and ensure more effective management of the disease, especially in countries where it is endemic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The distribution of hepatic echinococcosis (HE) is extensive, significantly impacting public health and economic development. Therefore, analyzing global collaboration networks and tracking developmental trends over the past four decades are crucial. This study aimed to demonstrate collaboration in the field of HE and explore key topics and future directions. MATERIALS AND METHODS Bibliometric analyses were conducted using CiteSpace, Bibliometrix package of R, and VOSviewer software on HE-related studies from the Web of Science Core Collection published before 1 August 2023. RESULTS This study identified 2605 records published in 196 journals by 9860 authors from 2607 institutes in 90 countries. Publications significantly notably increased in 2021. Developing countries like Turkey and China made notable contributions, while developed countries like the USA had higher average citation rates. The largest nodes in every cluster of the collaboration network were Hacettepe University, Tehran University, Xinjiang Medical University, Salford University, and the University of Pavia, and the top-producing authors were Wen H, Vuitton DA, Gottstein B, and Craig PS. Keyword co-occurrence analysis suggested that surgical techniques and novel drugs targeting combined immune checkpoints are the main therapeutic approaches in the future. CONCLUSION Although developing countries had significantly contributed to publications on HE, the citation rate for individual articles from developed countries was significantly higher. Additionally, advancements in surgical techniques and novel drugs targeting combined immune checkpoints may emerge as the next research focus and developmental direction.

Abstract
Introduction In today's world, high-cost procedures are being examined, and alternative procedures are being developed. In this context, one frequently examined procedure is total knee replacement. Purpose This study aims to examine the three different closure techniques used in total knee replacement. Methods This study is a prospective randomized controlled study. Two hundred participants who underwent total knee replacement surgery, were included in the study. Participants were randomly divided into three groups. Arthrotomy was performed using a medial parapatellar approach with a midline incision. Standard femoral and tibial cuts were followed by the implantation of a Smith and Nephew genesis II implant for all participants. Complications, joint range of motion, pain scores, certain movement degrees, and functional scores were investigated. Results Pre-op and post-op range of motion, knee society score, oxford knee score, certain movement degree values have shown no significant difference. Visual analogue scale values were different significantly between the groups. There is a statistical difference between the range of motion, knee society score, oxford knee score, certain movement degree and visual analogue scale values in repeated measurements. The most common complication was a hematoma. This was observed most frequently in the continuous vicryl suture group. The closure time in the Barbed group was significantly lower than in the other groups. Discussion Treatment for total knee replacement is a heavy economic burden. Health systems and hospitals are under pressure. The results obtained in our study show that there is no superiority of one closure technique over the other.

Abstract
Spatial heterogeneity is a fundamental research topic in the field of geography, and Geodetector is a widely used tool for studying this phenomenon. To understand the research advancements and knowledge diffusion trends surrounding Geodetector, we constructed an author evolutionary tree structure fusing its 847 core citations in the Web of Science database and Geotree model for the first time. The results of our literature statistics indicated that Geodetector has garnered the attention of 3123 authors from 48 countries since its publication in the Ecological Indicators journal in 2010, who have published core papers concerning ten important topics. The majority of these studies focused on spatial heterogeneity and its influencing factors. Our analysis of Geotree data revealed a significant correlation between the publication rate of scholars in large teams and their academic activities. Our analysis of the knowledge diffusion chain shown that only 2% of the total number of authors have contributed to over 20% of the scientific collaborations and knowledge diffusion, and they were recognized as experts in Geodetector research. To provide a comprehensive reference for future scholars, we have summarized the citing countries, five classical articles, main scientific domains, and core teams of Geodetector research.

Abstract
Background During uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively improving people’s health literacy is more important than ever. Drawing knowledge maps of health literacy research through data mining and visualized measurement technology helps systematically present the research status and development trends in global academic circles. Methods This paper uses CiteSpace to carry out a metric analysis of 9,492 health literacy papers included in Web of Science through mapping knowledge domains. First, based on the production theory of scientific knowledge and the data mining of citations, the main bodies (country, institution and author) that produce health literacy knowledge as well as their mutual cooperation (collaboration network) are both clarified. Additionally, based on the quantitative framework of cocitation analysis, this paper introduces the interdisciplinary features, development trends and hot topics of the field. Finally, by using burst detection technology in the literature, it further reveals the research frontiers of health literacy. Results The results of the BC measures of the global health literacy research collaboration network show that the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom are the major forces in the current international collaboration network on health literacy. There are still relatively very few transnational collaborations between Eastern and Western research institutions. Collaborations in public environmental occupational health, health care science services, nursing and health policy services have been active in the past five years. Research topics in health literacy research evolve over time, mental health has been the most active research field in recent years. Conclusions A systematic approach is needed to address the challenges of health literacy, and the network framework of cooperation on health literacy at regional, national and global levels should be strengthened to further promote the application of health literacy research. In the future, we anticipate that this research field will expand in two directions, namely, mental health literacy and eHealth literacy, both of which are closely linked to social development and issues. The results of this study provide references for future applied research in health literacy.

Abstract
With the characteristics of low cost and open call, crowdsourcing has been widely adopted in many fields, particularly to support the use of surveys, data processing, and the monitoring of public health. The objective of the current study is to analyze the applications, hotspots, and emerging trends of crowdsourcing in the field of public health. Using CiteSpace for the visualization of scientific maps, this study explores the analysis of time-scope, countries and institutions, authors, published journals, keywords, co-references, and citation clusters. The results show that the United States is the country with the most publications regarding crowdsourcing applications for public health. Howe and Brabham are the two leading authors in this field. Further, most of the articles published in this field are found in medical and comprehensive journals. Crowdsourcing in public health is increasing and diversifying. The results of this study will enable and support the analysis of the specific role of crowdsourcing in the public health ecosystem.
