Abstract
Abstract
In this study, theoretical calculations were made and interpreted to obtain chemical, nonlinear optical properties and antibacterial activity parameters of 14 registered heterocyclic 4, 5-dihydro-1H-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-one derivatives in the literature. For this purpose, first of all, 14 compounds registered in the literature and two main structures were optimized to find the minimum energy and the most stable structure by using the “B3LYP/6-311++G (d, p)” methods. HOMO–LUMO energies calculated from these optimized structures, energy differences and chemical parameters derived from HOMO–LUMO energies (I; Ionization potential, A; electron affinity, ΔE; Energy Gap, χ; electronegative σ; molecular softness, ω; Electrophilic Index, ε; Nucleophilic Index, μ; Chemical Potential) values were determined. In addition to chemical parameters, polar calculations were made for nonlinear optical properties, and it was evaluated whether the compounds could be optical materials. Finally, the antimicrobial properties of the molecules were calculated theoretically and compared with the experimental results by calculating the volume.

Abstract
Novel Schiff bases of metformin hydrochloride and (ortho)para-nitrobenzaldehyde were synthesized by employing two efficient environmentally friendly methods, namely, stirring and microwave-assisted methods using water as the solvent. The advantage of microwave irradiation over the other methods was represented in the reduction of reaction time and wastes, and good yields; however, water in both methods plays the role of eco-friendly solvent. The structural properties of the (ortho)para-isomer products were analyzed by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, 13C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against selected Gram-positive (ATCC 25923, ATCC 43300, and ATCC 29212) and Gram-negative (ATCC 25922, ATCC 27853, and ATCC 700603) bacteria using the agar well diffusion method. Compared with the standard drug streptomycin, both Schiff bases exhibited moderate bactericidal activity against the tested bacteria with higher values of ortho-nitro compared with the para-nitro isomer; however, no effect on ATCC 43300 and ATCC 27853 was observed under the experimental conditions employed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND An alarming requirement for finding newer antidiabetic glitazones as agonists to PPARγ are on its utmost need from past few years as the side effects associated with the available drug therapy is dreadful. In this context, herein, we have made an attempt to develop some novel glitazones as PPARγ agonists, by rational and computer aided drug design approach by implementing the principles of bioisosterism. The designed glitazones are scored for similarity with the developed 3D pharmacophore model and subjected for docking studies against PPARγ proteins. Synthesized by adopting appropriate synthetic methodology and evaluated for in vitro cytotoxicity and glucose uptake assay. Illustrations about the molecular design of glitazones, synthesis, analysis, glucose uptake activity and SAR via 3D QSAR studies are reported. RESULTS The computationally designed and synthesized ligands such as 2-(4-((substituted phenylimino)methyl)phenoxy)acetic acid derivatives were analysed by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS-spectral techniques. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity and glucose uptake assay on 3T3-L1 and L6 cells. Further the activity data was used to develop 3D QSAR model to establish structure activity relationships for glucose uptake activity via CoMSIA studies. CONCLUSION The results of pharmacophore, molecular docking study and in vitro evaluation of synthesized compounds were found to be in good correlation. Specifically, CPD03, 07, 08, 18, 19, 21 and 24 are the candidate glitazones exhibited significant glucose uptake activity. 3D-QSAR model revealed the scope for possible further modifications as part of optimisation to find potent anti-diabetic agents.

Abstract
Novel heterocyclic azomethine dyes were prepared by the reaction of anthracene-9-carbaldehyde with different heterocyclic amines under microwave irradiation. Structures of the azomethine dyes were confirmed by the elemental analysis, mass spectrometry and several spectroscopic techniques. We studied absorbance and fluorescence spectra of the azomethine dyes in various solvents. They are found to be good absorbers and emitters. We also report photophysical properties like, extinction coefficient, oscillator strength, stokes shift and transition dipole moment. This reflects physicochemical behaviors of synthesized dyes. In addition, their intramolecular charge transfer and nonlinear optical properties, supported by natural bond orbital technique, were also studied computationally by density functional theory. The negative nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient were measured for these dyes using the closed and open aperture Z-scan technique with a continuous wave helium-neon laser. These are found to vary linearly with solution concentration.

Abstract
Chalcone derivatives have been synthesized by reaction of 1-(2,5-dimethyl-furan-3-yl)-ethanone with corresponding active aldehyde in ethanolic NaOH in microwave oven. The structure of these compounds was established by elemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and EI-MS spectral analysis. The anti-bacterial activity of these compounds was first tested in vitro by the disc diffusion assay against two Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria, and then the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined with the reference of standard drug Chloramphenicol. The results showed that pyrazol containing chalcone (compound 8) inhibited both types of bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative) better than chloramphenicol.

Abstract
Metal complexes were prepared by the reaction of thiosemicarbazone with CuCl2, NiCl2, CoCl2, Cu(OAc)2, Ni(OAc)2, and Co(OAc)2. The thiosemicarbazone coordinates to metal through the thionic sulfur and the azomethine nitrogen. The thiosemicarbazone was obtained by the thiosemicarbazide with 3-acetyl-2,5-dimethylthiophene. The identities of these compounds were elucidated by IR, 1H, 13C-NMR, and GC-MS spectroscopic methods and elemental analyses. The antibacterial activity of these compounds was first tested in vitro by the disc diffusion assay against two Gram-positive and two Gram-negative bacteria, and then the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by using chloramphenicol as reference drug. The results showed that compound 1.1 is better inhibitor of both types of tested bacteria as compared to chloramphenicol.

Abstract
A new cis-palladium(II)diaqua(3,4-difluoroacetophenonethiosemicarbazone complex (Pd(II) complex) is synthesized using 3,4-difluoroacetophenonethiosemicarbazone(L). The L and its Pd(II) complex are characterized and confirmed by elemental analyses, electrochemical analyses, FT-IR, FT-Raman, UV-Vis, HRMS and LC-MS techniques. Ligand L is further characterized by (1)H, (13)C and (19)F NMR spectroscopy. The crystal structure of L is unambiguously characterized by single X-ray crystallography. The ligand (L) belongs to monoclinic system with P2(1)/C space group and the unit cell parameters are a(Å)=9.1144(7), b(Å)=13.7928(7), c(Å)=8.4174(5), α(°)=90, β(°)=100.715, γ(°)=90 and volume V(A(3))=1039.73(11). The Raman bands observed for the L and its Pd(II) complex are in good agreement with the FT-IR spectral data. The Pd(II) complex is found to be highly efficient in inhibiting the growth of human pathogens like Salmonella typhimurium and Klebsiella pneumonia with MIC value 10.0μg/mL whose inhibition zones are almost comparable with the standard antibiotic. The synthesized compounds have shown antiproliferative activity against the human breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB231 by intermitting the regular pathway of ribonucleotidereductase.

Abstract
Several Schiff bases2have been prepared by the condensation of various methyl ketones1with 1,2-ethylenediamine. Subsequent acylation of these Schiff bases with trifluoroacetic anhydride in THF yields the corresponding trifluoroacetyl derivatives3. However,o-hydroxy- ando-methoxy-substituted derivatives yielded substituted-trifluoromethylchroman-4-ones. Additionally, Schiff bases when reacted with acetic anhydride afforded the C-acetylated derivatives4. The structures of the isolated compounds were fully determined by spectral methods. Preliminary biological screening of the prepared compounds revealed significant cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities.

Abstract
Coordination compounds of VO(IV), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with the Schiff base obtained through the condensation of 2-aminothiazole with 3-formyl chromone were synthesized. The compounds were characterized by (1)H, (13)C NMR, UV-Vis, IR, Mass, EPR, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The Cu(II) complex possesses tetrahedrally distorted square planar geometry whereas Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) show distorted tetrahedral geometry. The VO(IV) complex shows square pyramidal geometry. The cyclic voltammogram of Cu (II) complex showed a well defined redox couple Cu(II)/Cu(I) with quasireversible nature. The antimicrobial activity against the species Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albigans and Aspergillus niger was screened and compared to the activity of the ligand. Emission spectrum was recorded for the ligand and the metal(II) complexes. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was measured and found to have one fourth of the activity of urea. The SEM image of the copper(II) complex implies that the size of the particles is 2 μm.
