Abstract
BACKGROUND The individual and combined effects of PM2.5 constituents on cardiometabolic risk factors are sparsely investigated. Besides, the key cardiometabolic risk factor that PM2.5 constituents targeted and the biological mechanisms remain unclear. METHOD A multistage, stratified cluster sampling survey was conducted in two typically air-polluted Chinese cities. The PM2.5 and its constituents including sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, organic matter, and black carbon were predicted using a machine learning model. Twenty biomarkers in three category were simultaneously adopted as cardiometabolic risk factors. We explored the individual and mixture association of long-term PM2.5 constituents with these markers using generalized additive model and quantile-based g-computation, respectively. To minimize potential confounding effects, we accounted for covariates including demographic, lifestyle, meteorological, temporal trends, and disease-related information. We further used ROC curve and mediation analysis to identify the key subclinical indicators and explore whether inflammatory mediators mediate such association, respectively. RESULT PM2.5 constituents was positively correlated with HOMA-B, TC, TG, LDL-C and LCI, and negatively correlated with PP and RC. Further, PM2.5 constituent mixture was positive associated with DBP, MAP, HbA1c, HOMA-B, AC, CRI-1 and CRI-2, and negative associated with PP and HDL-C. The ROC analysis further reveals that multiple cardiometabolic risk factors can collectively discriminate exposure to PM2.5 constituents (AUC>0.9), among which PP and CRI-2 as individual indicators exhibit better identifiable performance for nitrate and ammonium (AUC>0.75). We also found that multiple blood lipid indicators may be affected by PM2.5 and its constituents, possibly mediated through complement C3 or hsCRP. CONCLUSION Our study suggested associations of individual and combined PM2.5 constituents exposure with cardiometabolic risk factors. PP and CRI-2 were the targeted markers of long-term exposure to nitrate and ammonium. Inflammation may serve as a mediating factor between PM2.5 constituents and dyslipidemia, which enhance current understanding of potential pathways for PM2.5-induced preclinical cardiovascular responses.

Abstract
Cytokines play a crucial role in the structure and function of blood vessels in hypertension. Hypertension damages blood vessels by mechanisms linked to shear forces, activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone and sympathetic nervous systems, oxidative stress, and a proinflammatory milieu that lead to the generation of neoantigens and damage-associated molecular patterns, ultimately triggering the release of numerous cytokines. Damage-associated molecular patterns are recognized by PRRs (pattern recognition receptors) and activate inflammatory mechanisms in endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, perivascular nerves, and perivascular adipose tissue. Activated vascular cells also release cytokines and express factors that attract macrophages, dendritic cells, and lymphocytes to the blood vessels. Activated and differentiated T cells into Th1, Th17, and Th22 in secondary lymphoid organs migrate to the vessels, releasing specific cytokines that further contribute to vascular dysfunction and remodeling. This chronic inflammation alters the profile of endothelial and smooth muscle cells, making them dysfunctional. Here, we provide an overview of how cytokines contribute to hypertension by impacting the vasculature. Furthermore, we explore clinical perspectives about the modulation of cytokines as a potential therapeutic intervention to specifically target hypertension-linked vascular dysfunction.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Therefore, there is increasing interest in dietary interventions to reduce risk factors associated with these conditions. Cherries and berries are rich sources of bioactive compounds and have attracted attention for their potential cardiovascular benefits. This review summarises the current research on the effects of cherry and berry consumption on cardiovascular health, including in vivo studies and clinical trials. These red fruits are rich in phenolic compounds, such as anthocyanins and flavonoids, which have multiple bioactive properties. These properties include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilatory effects. Studies suggest that regular consumption of these fruits may reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, leading to lower blood pressure, improved lipid profiles, and enhanced endothelial function. However, interpreting findings and establishing optimal dosages is a challenge due to the variability in fruit composition, processing methods, and study design. Despite these limitations, the evidence highlights the potential of cherries and berries as components of preventive strategies against CVD. Further research is needed to maximise their health benefits and improve clinical practice.

Abstract
The systematic review investigates the impact of different nutrients and dietary patterns on metabolism and immunity to answer the research question: "Can personalized nutritional approaches boost immunity?" The importance of diet in supporting the immune system has come to light in today's environment, where a strong immune system is crucial for protection against infectious illnesses, as highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This systematic review adhered to the guidelines outlined in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020. Four databases were screened for relevant data published in 2022-2023: PubMed, PubMed Central (PMC), MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were utilized, and 13 papers were finalized after screening and employing the quality appraisal tool Cochrane Bias assessment for randomized controlled trials (RCT). Personalized nutrition can strengthen immunity and enhance overall health by adjusting dietary recommendations and following a person's genetic makeup, lifestyle, and health state. An adequate supply of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fatty acids as well as an optimum caloric intake are essential for immune health, and individual requirements can vary significantly due to genetic factors, lifestyle choices, and underlying health conditions. Personalized nutrition considers these factors, enabling tailored dietary recommendations to address specific nutrient needs and optimize nutrient intake, leading to better health outcomes. The review concludes that personalized nutrition is more effective than a one-size-fits-all approach in boosting immunity, and its potential impact on health and immune function is highly important.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The mounting body of evidence underscores the pivotal role of interferon gamma (IFNγ) in the pathogenesis of hypertension, prompting exploration of the mechanisms by which this cytokine fosters a pro-inflammatory immune milieu, subsequently exacerbating hypertension. In this review, we delve into recent preclinical and clinical studies from the past two years to elucidate how IFNγ participates in the progression of hypertension. RECENT FINDINGS IFNγ promotes renal CD8 + T cell accumulation by upregulating tubular PDL1 and MHC-I, intensifying cell-to-cell interaction. Intriguingly, a nucleotide polymorphism in LNK, predisposing towards hypertension, correlates with augmented T cell IFNγ production. Additionally, anti-IFNγ treatment exhibits protective effects against T cell-mediated inflammation during angiotensin II infusion or transverse aortic constriction. Moreover, knockout of the mineralocorticoid receptor in T cells protects against cardiac dysfunction induced by myocardial infarction, correlating with reduced IFNγ and IL-6, decreased macrophage recruitment, and attenuated fibrosis. Interestingly, increased IFNγ production correlates with elevated blood pressure, impacting individuals with type 2 diabetes, nondiabetics, and obese hypertensive patients. SUMMARY These revelations spotlight IFNγ as the critical mediator bridging the initial phase of blood pressure elevation with the sustained and exacerbated pathology. Consequently, blocking IFNγ signaling emerges as a promising therapeutic target to improve the management of this 'silent killer.'

Abstract
Instant foods are widely presented in powder forms across different food segments, which potentially can be formulated with functional or beneficial compounds to provide health benefits. Many reconstituted instant powder foods form colloidal suspensions with complex structures. However, designing instant powder food could be challenging due to the structural complexity and high flexibility in formulation. This review proposed a new classification method for instant powder foods according to the solubility of ingredients and the structure of the reconstituted products. Instant powder foods containing insoluble ingredients are discussed. It summarised challenges and current advances in powder treatments, reconstitution improvement, and influences on food texture and structure to facilitate product design in related industries. The characteristics and incorporation of the main ingredients and ingredients with health benefits in product development were reviewed. Different products vary significantly in the ratios of macronutrients. The macronutrients have limited solubility in water. After being reconstituted by water, the insoluble components are dispersed and swell to form colloidal dispersions with complex structures and textures. Soluble components, which dissolve in the continuous phase, may facilitate the dispersing process or influence the solution environment. The structure of reconstituted products and destabilising factors are discussed. Both particle and molecular structuring strategies have been developed to improve wettability and prevent the formation of lumps and, therefore, to improve reconstitution properties. Various types of instant food have been developed based on healthy or functional ingredients and exhibit positive effects on the prevention of non-communicable diseases and overall health. Less processed materials and by-products are often chosen to enhance the contents of dietary fibre and phenolic compounds. The enrichment of phenolic compounds, dietary fibres and/or probiotics tend to be simultaneous in plant-based products. The process of the ingredients and the formulation of products must be tailored to design the desired structure and to improve the reconstitution property.

Abstract
Consumers today seek safe functional foods with proven health-promoting properties. Current evidence shows that a healthy diet can effectively alleviate oxidative stress levels and reduce inflammatory markers, thereby preventing the occurrence of many types of cancer, hypertension, and cardiovascular and neurological pathologies. Nevertheless, as fruits and vegetables are mainly consumed fresh, they can serve as vectors for the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms associated with various disease outbreaks. As a result, there has been a surge in interest in the microbiome of fruits and vegetables. Therefore, given the growing interest in sweet cherries, and since their microbial communities have been largely ignored, the primary purpose of this study is to investigate their culturome at various maturity stages for the first time. A total of 55 microorganisms were isolated from sweet cherry fruit, comprising 23 bacteria and 32 fungi species. Subsequently, the selected isolates were molecularly identified by amplifying the 16S rRNA gene and ITS region. Furthermore, it was observed that the communities became more diverse as the fruit matured. The most abundant taxa included Pseudomonas and Ralstonia among the bacteria, and Metschnikowia, Aureobasidium, and Hanseniaspora among the fungi.
