Abstract
BACKGROUND During the sexual maturation, gluteal femoral adipose tissue is subjected to numerous modifications, not observable in other regions, in particular in women and less in men. Other authors described this region, but they used imaging techniques having lower resolution, than MRI proposed in this study. High resolution imaging techniques might provide important and more detailed information about the anatomy of gluteal femoral region. METHODS This study has been performed using 7 T-magnetic resonance imaging and ultrastructural analysis in order to provide accurate description of the subcutaneous adipose tissue and dermis of gluteal femoral region. In this study specimens harvested from cadavers and form living patients have been analyzed. RESULTS The results showed the presence of three layers: superficial, middle, and deep, characterized by different organization of fat lobules. High resolution imaging showed the adipose papilla that originates from dermis and protrude in subcutaneous adipose tissue. Adipose papilla is characterized by a peculiar morphology with a basement, a neck and a head and these elements represent the functional subunits of adipose papilla. Moreover, ultrastructural study evidenced the relationship between adipocytes and sweat glands, regulated by lipid vesicles. CONCLUSIONS This study provides important information about subcutaneous and dermal fat anatomy of gluteal femoral region, improving the past knowledge, and move toward a better understanding of the cellulite physiopathology.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The physical appearance of an individual plays a primary role as it influences the opinion of the viewer. For this reason, orthodontic therapy to improve perceived aesthetics is in high demand among patients. This factor, combined with the increase in the number of non-invasive facial aesthetic treatments, has led to the need to understand potential risk factors in the application of medical devices to the perioral skin in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances. The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro heating of the orthodontic bracket following electromagnetic fields and negative pressure (V-EMF) used as an anti-aging treatment. METHODS Two different types of titanium alloy wires, one made of "beta-Titanium" alloy and the other "Ni-Ti" (DW Lingual Systems GmbH-Bad Essen-Germany) were used. The orthodontic wires and brackets mounted on a resin mouth were covered with porcine muscle tissue, then subjected to anti-aging therapy with a Bi-one LifeTouchTherapy medical device (Expo Italia Srl-Florence-Italy) which generates a combination of vacuum and electromagnetic fields (V-EMF) already adopted for antiaging therapy. During administration of the therapy, the orthodontic brackets and porcine tissue were thermally monitored using a Wavetek Materman TMD90 thermal probe (Willtek Communications GmbH-Germany). In total 20 orthodontic mouths were used, 10 with Beta Titanium wires and 10 with Nickel Titanium wires. RESULTS A temperature increase of about 1°C was recorded in each group. The outcome of the present research shows that the absolute temperatures measured on orthodontic appliances, which, despite having a slightly different curve, both show an increase in temperature of 1.1°C at the end of the session, thus falling well within the safety range of 2°C as specified by the standard CENELEC EN 45502-1. Therefore, V-EMF therapy can be considered safe for the entire dental system and for metal prostheses, which tend to heat up at most as much as biological tissue (+0.9°C/1.1°C vs. 1.1°C/1.1°C). CONCLUSION In conclusion, anti-aging therapy with V-EMF causes a thermal increase on orthodontic brackets that is not harmful to pulp health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cellulite represents a common multi-factorial condition that affects nearly all women and is now recognized as a clinical condition associated with systemic factors and negative psychological effects. Several noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments were developed during the last few years, but limited evidence supports many of them due to lack of evidence, insufficient participants, and potential adverse effects. METHODS This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a seaweed mud application in improving both the structure and function of tissues affected by cellulite. Sixty women with cellulite underwent 4-week applications of seaweed mud on the buttocks and thighs. The following assessments were performed at baseline and after the last treatment: photographic, clinical, and anthropometric evaluation; tests for elasticity and hydration; ultrasonography of cellulite nodules; and cellulite biopsies in the trochanteric region. Patient satisfaction was assessed using a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire. RESULTS The treatment resulted in a significant improvement in the severity of cellulite severity between the initial assessment and the 4-week follow-up, with enhanced structure, elasticity, and hydration of the affected tissues. Microscopic analysis of the cellulite biopsies revealed a significant restoration of dermal organization with induced collagen synthesis and reduced inflammation, edema, and lipid deposition following the 4-week seaweed mud applications. Additionally, the treatment led to a remarkable improvement in comfort and satisfaction as well as a reduction in body circumferences. CONCLUSIONS The cosmetic application of seaweed mud has proven to be a safe, non-invasive treatment for improving the tissue alterations characteristic of cellulite.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In parallel with the increase in requests for filler injections, reported complications (immediate or delayed and transient or permanent) increased too. CASE REPORT In the presented case report, a patient reported a delayed complication of filler injection. The complaints of the patient and the objective evaluation revealed the presence of multiple lip nodules, that were painful both spontaneously and at the touch, after 10 years from a lip filler injection. The surgical excision of the neoformations permitted the complete healing of the lesions. The histological analysis showed a not specific pattern, showing a material encapsulated by a tissue reaction, confirming that the possible cause of the multiple injuries could be attributable to the injection received years earlier. CONCLUSIONS The professional who intends to perform filler injections needs a complete training process, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. Also, the patients must be informed of the possible risks associated with each product.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of the present clinical study is to assess the effectiveness of a lipolytic solution containing sodium salt of ascorbic acid at 0.24% and a surfactant agent at 0.020% ascorbyl-palmitate (SAP) for the treatment of double chin. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 10 healthy adult subjects affected by double chin (8 female and 2 male) were evaluated in the present investigation. The patients were admitted to a total of 4 sessions, with biweekly procedures, without no other active agents addiction. RESULTS In all the subjects a reduction of the convexity of the chin after the treatment with SAP was observed. Improvement in submental appearance was achieved in 90% (9/10) of the patients. One patient did not see any improvement in submental appearance after two section treatments and withdrew from the treatment. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, in the present study, a new adipocytolytic solution consisting of sodium ascorbate mixed with ascorbyl-palmitate was used with success as a surfactant agent for the treatment of double chin.

Abstract
Cellulite is a common topographic condition of the skin manifested as lumpy, dimpled flesh resembling an orange peel on some zones such as the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen. The aetiology of this cosmetic issue is multifactorial, with hormonal, anatomical, environmental and genetic factors influencing its origin, although the exact mechanisms which cause this condition are still unknown. In the present work, a bibliographic analysis of the cellulite etiology has been updated and exposed, as well as the multiple classification grade scales established over the decades. In addition, a new method to classify cellulite severity, in which the clinical manifestations are correlated to the histological aspects more frequently found in the patients, has been presented. Several theories regarding its appearance, structure and clinical aspects have arisen with the aim of developing and establishing a valuable therapeutic approach. However, the lack of a consensus regarding the classification of cellulite severity has complicated the developments within this field.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Hyaluronic acid has been used for a long time as a biorevitalizer to treat skin aging both in single formulation and in association with other compounds such as amino acids or vitamins. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of class III medical devices SKIN B, SKIN R, SKIN OX, SKIN COLIN, for the treatment of wrinkles on the face, neck, décolleté and hands. These medical devices are all based on hyaluronic acid and supplemented with amino acids (SKIN B and SKIN R) and glutathione (SKIN OX) or colin (SKIN COLIN). This gives broader possibilities to the aesthetic surgeon for personalization and pharmacological diversification based on the patient's deficits to treat. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 60 subjects affected by skin damage such as rhytidids, dehydration, reduced sebum production and skin hypoxia were enrolled. The patients were treated with a session of mesotherapy every 7 days for 30 days, followed by other 2 sessions every 15 days for 30 days and the follow-up on day 90. The primary efficacy endpoint was evaluated by means of a 0-10 visual analog scale at day 60; the secondary efficacy endpoint was evaluated by means of a 0-10 visual analog scale at day 90. RESULTS All patients completed the 3-month follow-up. Treatment with SKIN B, SKIN OX, SKIN COLIN and SKIN R medical devices for the prevention and treatment of wrinkles on the face, neck, décolleté and hands were associated with favorable and positive results. A clear reduction of wrinkles has been clinically observed with improvement in the texture, brightness, and turgor of the skin. No adverse events were reported. CONCLUSIONS The medical devices SKIN B, SKIN SKIN OX, SKIN COLIN produce an aesthetic improvement in patients affected by skin defects, when administered by mesotherapy technique. This study confirms the safety and efficacy of the medical devices based on hyaluronic acid supplemented with amino acids and glutathione or colin.

Abstract
Background The eyebrow area is a clinically critical district due to the anatomical complexity and the propensity to aging-related atrophy. Hyaluronic acid fillers have been proposed to recover the dermal volume of the facial and lips regions. Aim The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate hyaluronic acid fillers enriched with glycine and proline for the treatment of eyebrow augmentation. Methods A total of 15 healthy patients were treated with eyebrow augmentation procedure. The distance between mid-bipupil to lateral eyebrow and mid-eyebrow to the medial eyebrow was measured before, immediately after treatment and at follow-up of 6 months. Results The healing period was uneventful, and no evidence of inflammation or swelling associated with the treatment was reported. No macroscopical alteration was reported in the surrounding tissues with no evidences of visible wheals or lumps in the treated sites at the follow-up. Before treatment, the angle was equal to 9.32 ± 0.2°, while after treatment it was 11.21 ± 0.4° (p < 0.01); after three and 6 weeks, it was, respectively, 10.66 ± 0.2° (p<0.05) and 10.02 ± 0.3°(p > 0.05). Conclusions The study results suggest that the hyaluronic acid fillers enriched with glycine and proline treatment resulted as being a useful procedure for augmentation, contour and volume definition and elevation of the eyebrow region with a high-level aesthetic result. Abstract
BACKGROUND Cellulite is a topographic alteration of the skin with unknown etiology and is characterized by the presence of a dimpled or puckered aspect, as resembling an orange peel and cottage cheese or as having mattress-like appearance. AIM The aim of this research was to find the different histological aspect of cellulite in sixty patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 60 women, mean age 48.8 ( ± 11.08) were included in the study. Among these, 11 women were in menopause (18.33%). All patients after physical examination, aesthetic, and dermatological evaluation were subjected to five cellulite biopsies with a 2.0 mm diameter and 1.5 mm in length in the trochanteric region affected by cellulite. The descriptive statistics were performed for each study predictors demographic age, height, bmi, waist, belly, hip thigh, and knee. RESULTS The histological analysis of the stained slides showed five different histological features were present in the most of patient. CONCLUSION In conclusion, the outcome of this study shows that the histological evidence does not characterize the different states of cellulite, but several different histological aspects were present in the same patient, which effectively eliminates staging and could consider cellulite as a degenerative disease.

Abstract
Background: Stretch marks (SM) are nowadays the most common aesthetic pathology of the body; in the XX century, it mainly affected pregnant women, while today it also affects teenagers during puberty, boys and girls without distinction. The aim of this study was to evaluate possible variations in the histological structure of the skin—in terms of quality/quantity of the extracellular matrix and of the collagen and elastic fibers—following the electromagnetic fields and negative pressure (V-EMF) treatment as regards hypotonia and SMs. Materials and Methods: For the current study, 60 women, aged between 25 and 45, were examined. All of them presented deep, white or pearly white colored SMs having had them for between 12 and 25 years. These were documented, asking patients their level of satisfaction, through pictures and biopsies. All patients underwent a cycle of 6 or 8 weekly sessions; everyone was highly satisfied with the results obtained. Results: Biopsies proved that the tissue was reorganized and restored to the original volume, characterized by the production of new, high-quality collagen and elastin molecules, by the reorganization of the basement membrane and by the correct positioning of the melanocytes. No side effects were observed during the treatments. This synergy stands as the most suitable treatment of striae rubra and alba. Conclusion: V-EMF enhances the keratinocyte migration base, melanocytes, and promotes neoangiogenesis with the result of improvement in the SM.

Abstract
The aging process causes skin modification and wrinkle formation with an alteration of the face harmony and imperfections. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate a cross-linked hyaluronic acid enriched with glycine and proline for zygomatic malar region infiltrations. A total of twenty healthy female patients were treated for zygomatic hypotonia. The level of patients and surgeon satisfaction was evaluated by global aesthetic improvement scale (GAIS) at baseline, immediately after the procedure and at 6 months from the treatment. The healing phase was uneventful, and no complications were reported in the perioperative and follow-up periods. No significant differences were reported between patients and surgeon GAIS score (p<0.05). A significant difference of GAIS score was reported immediately after the procedure and at 6 months if compared to the baseline (p<0.05). The cross-linked hyaluronic acid enriched with glycine and proline is a useful biomaterial for zygomatic- malar augmentation with no significant local complications and a high stability and satisfaction level of the procedure.

Abstract
Facial aging involves all facial structures located at different levels: bones soft tissues and skin with a reduction of the extracellular matrix. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of the injectable solution antiaging complex composed by non-reticulated hyaluronic acid (HA) and amino acids vitamins and antioxidants conveyed with mesotherapy technique in subjects with different expressions of aging. 114 patients with different expressions of aging were enrolled in this study with mean age (49±6). HA and amino acids vitamins and antioxidants complex solution Neofound (Love Cosmedical, Castagneto, Italy) was injected on the dermal plane or superficial subdermal plane. Among the various imperfections, fine roughness surface irregularities skin firmness brightness/discoloration cutaneous hydration were those with the greatest response to therapy. The clinical data showed that the medical device Neofound is effective and safe to treat various skin signs of chrono and photoaging thanks to its ability to protect tissues from oxidative stress and hydrate the skin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In esthetic medicine, different techniques have been used against the aging of the human skin especially in the facial area. Hyaluronic acid is used for improving the quantity of water and extracellular matrix molecule. The aim of this study is a clinical and histological evaluation of the effect of low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid fragments mixed with amino acid (HAAM) on the rejuvenation the face skin treated with intradermal microinjections. METHODS Twenty women with mean age 45 range from 35 to 64 were studied, thereof 8 in menopause and 12 of childbearing age. The patients were treated with the HAAM products by mesotherapy technique; before and after 3 months of the therapeutic procedure, each patient underwent small biopsies with a circular punch biopsy. RESULTS The clinical results of the present study showed that the administration of the dermal filler containing fragments of hyaluronic acid between 20 and 38 monomers and amino acid via dermis injection technique produces an esthetic improvement in the faces of the treated patients, while the histological evaluation shows an increased fibroblast activity with the production of type III reticular collagen and increased number of vessels and epidermis thickness. CONCLUSIONS The clinical and histological assessment showed that subcutaneous HAAM infiltration has a significant impact on the dermis and clinical aspects of the face.

Abstract
Background Localized adiposity (AL) is the accumulation of subcutaneous adipose tissue, placed in definite anatomic areas, building up an alteration of the body silhouette. The aim of the present clinical and histological study is to assess the effectiveness of an injectable solution containing sodium salt of ascorbic acid 0.24% and surfactant agent at 0.020% ascorbyl-palmitate (SAP) for treating local adiposity. Methods Eighty healthy female adult patients were selected, suffering from local adiposity in the abdominal region. The patients underwent a cycle of 6 sessions, with biweekly treatments, without the addition of any active ingredient. Direct infiltration of pharmacologically active SAP solutions into the adipose tissue with a long needle, very similar to the needles used for spinal anesthesia, was performed. This procedure is quick and painless (does not require any anesthesia) with moderate infiltration speed. Results All the patients treated showed good results with good satisfaction of the circumferential reductions. Before treatment: Waist (cm) 78.8 ± 10.6 and hip 93.6 ± 9.0 with WHR 0.84 ± 0.07. After treatment: Waist (cm) 70.8 ± 9.6 and hip 92.6 ± 8.0 with WHR 0.76 ± 0.06. Indeed, signs of adipocyte apoptosis were observed in subcutaneous skin after injection of SAP. Conclusion The results showed in the present study suggest that the SAP utilized induces apoptosis of adipocytes and could be of use as a safe and effective method with which to eliminate subcutaneous abdominal fat. Abstract
BACKGROUND Nasal telangiectasias are superficial, small vessels in the ala nasi and nasolabial crease with a varying origin. They represent an unaesthetic condition, frustrating patients who frequently request their removal. Microsclerotherapy, electrosurgery, different types of laser therapy, needle-assisted electrocoagulation, and TRASER therapy have been described for treating this condition. AIMS The aim of this study is to describe a novel technique that removes nasal telengectiasias using voltaic arc dermabrasion (VAD). PATIENTS/METHODS Voltaic arc dermabrasion treatment was used to remove nasal telangiectasia in 23 patients. The post-treatment condition was monitored by means of photographic records and the evaluation of erythema, pain score, patient and surgeon satisfaction, and skin temperature. The timing points were 1, 4, 6 days and 1 year after treatment. RESULTS Patients referred a moderate pain during the treatment that ceased at the end of the procedure. Moderate erythema and punctiform fine crusting were present in all patients that lasted until the 6th day after treatment. No other adverse effects were observed. After 1-year, the mean patient and surgeon satisfaction scores were 2.90 and 3.00 ± 0.3, respectively. A single treatment was effective in 85% of the patients and no recurrences were recorded for one year. The skin temperature increased about 18.2 ± 3.2°C during the treatment but returned to basal values in about 20 seconds in most of the patients. CONCLUSION Voltaic arc dermabrasion treatment is a viable, easy to use, and inexpensive tool for successful nasal telangiectasia removal, with minimal post-treatment discomfort.

Abstract
This study evaluated the bone healing of the residual cavity after enucleation of mandibular inflammatory cyst by using only a coverage with cortical bone barrier. This study was conducted at the dental clinic of the Medical, Oral and Biotechnology Sciences Department of Chieti in February 2015. A 36-year-old male patient, D.G.M., had a mandibular inflammatory cyst (with a diameter of about 33.9x20.3mm) treated by surgical enucleation, subsequent apicectomy of the elements involved (4.1, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4) and coverage of residual defect with a porcine cortical bone barrier (Bone Lamina). Postoperative clinical and radiographic examinations were performed at 3 and 9 months (panoramic radiographs) and at 12 and 24 months (CBCT Dental scan) respectively after cystic enucleation surgery. Uneventful healing and filling of the residual cavity was carried out. The computed analysis of the postoperative radiographs showed bone regeneration of cortical in terms of thickness increase at 12 and 24 months and showed mean values of reduction in size of the residual cavity of 92.1% after 12 months and 96.53% after 24 months. The volume of residual cavity (3123 mm3 in 2015) was seen to decrease (243.6mm3 at 12 months and 108.5 mm3 at 24 months). In this case report the Bone Lamina prevented tissue collapse within the defect and could maintain structural integrity throughout the period required for bone regeneration; it also has the advantage of resorbable membranes, avoiding a second surgery for its removal.

Abstract
Several approaches have been proposed for soft tissue augmentation using injectable materials for lip and soft-tissue augmentation due to their physical and biological properties. Hyaluronic acid represents a natural component of the connective tissues, related to wound healing and skin regeneration. The aim of this research was to investigate the clinical and histological effectiveness of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for lip augmentation. A total of 8 patients were treated for lip augmentation with a clinical follow up of 60 days. After this period a histological evaluation was performed to evaluate the healing of the treated regions. The healing phase reported no inflammatory response, tissue contractions and no local flogistic evidence in the treated areas, where the filling volume appeared maintained. The 60 days histological evaluation showed evidence of filler resorption with few infiltrated inflammatory cells. The clinical and histological findings suggested that cross-linked hyaluronic acid represents a safe and effective tool for lip augmentation.

Abstract
Turning to peeling in a dermatological sphere is extensively common and has been used for a long time. From the use of single acids moving on to the so-called compound peelings (associations of more than one substance in the same product) and the combined peelings which take advantage of the action of different substances in a synergistic manner (different products are applied sequentially) in order to best guarantee a greater effectiveness of the treatment for the recommended target. Superficial peelings, combined and not, have led to a drastic reduction in the percentage of incidence of adverse events typical of medium and deep peels. Nevertheless, it has been demonstrated that superficial peels bring about a rejuvenating effect through the mechanical stimulation of the Skin Stress Response System (SSRS), system designated to repairing the damaged tissue and restoring of the normal homeostasis. Clinical trials aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the peppermint peel (PMP) medical device in subjects with different ageing expressions both in qualitative terms (different blemishes such as discolouration, fine wrinkles, elastosis, atony and skin inelasticity, laxity, scarce superficial hydration) and in quantitative terms (degree, extension and number of lesions). A non-controlled multi-centric clinical trial was done in 121 subjects. The use protocol calls for a session every 2 weeks for a total of 4 sessions. Subjects were evaluated before each subsequent session at the first and at 2-4-8 weeks of the fourth and last treatment. During the study there were no adverse events. Only a minimal scurfy flaking and a very slight redness were reported. From an effectiveness point of view, the percentage of therapeutic failure, judged with a score equal to or greater than 4 or 5 in Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) scale was 0%. Best score was obtained in subjects ranging in ages between 38 and 57 (2.02) and in women (2.02) years, while the less satisfactory one was obtained in males (2.14). The study has demonstrated that PMP and the proposed protocol are effective and safe to treat subject with skin signs of chrono and photo ageing, thanks to its capabilities of carrying out a mechanic action indicated as a coadjuvant in the treatment of the dermoepidermic revitalisation through chemical exfoliation and hydration.

Abstract
The use of sodium deoxycholate (DC) in aesthetic medicine for reducing unwanted localized fat deposits is a procedure in use for over 30 years. Lower eyelid fat pads are one of the main imperfections of the middle third of the face. The purpose of the study is to assess the effectiveness and the safety of a second-generation injectable solution containing sodium deoxycholate 1.25% (DB125) for the treatment of lower eyelid fat pads. A multi-centre observational prospective study was carried out between May and October 2017. Patients presented various forms and degrees of lower eyelid fat pads. They were treated montly apart until the clinical result was obtained. The technique was explained. The study treated 120 patients for a total of 306 infiltration sessions (average 2.55 per patient). Patients gave the effectiveness of the treatment an average score of 7.125 (7.28 in men and 7.03 in women). The greatest successes were in patients under the age of 40. The medical evaluation showed therapeutic success in 85.83%. Adverse events were reported. The results of the study are encouraging since they have shown a therapeutic success from both the viewpoint of specialist medical assessment and from the personal, subjective view of the patients treated. This success did not show any significant differences between sex. On the other hand, outcome has been better in the younger age groups. The high degree of effectiveness shown in the study was associated with a minimal occurrence of adverse events. Therefore DB125, used with the right technique and dosage, is effective and safe to treat lower eyelid fat pads.

Abstract
Introduction: The rhino filler is a relatively recent complementary technique to rhinoplasty. The filler provides good results in certain selected cases, camouflaging irregularities of the dorsum and tip. This study aims to evaluate the Italian technique for the modification of the tip, a seemingly trivial but very effective technique. In selected cases, it is possible to successfully modify the tip of the nose using a simple double injection of filler within a few seconds. Materials and Methods: A total of 212 subjects were treated with filler in a single session. The patients were carefully selected, and each presented to varying degrees and in different ways with the tip of the nose projected and/or turned downward. The goal of the treatment is to provide greater projection and an upward lift of the tip. Follow-up visits evaluated the result, degree of patient satisfaction, and adverse reactions. Results: Of the patients, 79.2% claimed to be completely satisfied, 11.3% moderately satisfied, and 9.5% had no observable improvement. When evaluated photographically, 92.4% demonstrated improvement. Discussion: The technique has inherent limitations. It cannot change the structure of bone or cartilage, and it can correct only with an increase. For this reason, it is essential to select patients carefully. This study reported no major adverse events, and this is encouraging. Conclusions: This technique standardizes the reshaping of the tip with injectable fillers, reducing the number of injections to 2 boluses, by becoming a safer treatment, easier carrying, quick, well tolerated, economical, durable, and with maximum results.

Abstract
The authors report the results of a prospective study on 204 patients (1980-1993) affected by early infiltrating breast cancer (size pounds 2 cm) as a part of a surgical series of 608 cases. 53 cases who underwent QUART (25.9%) and 151 cases (74.1%) who underwent mastectomy modified according to Patey have been collected. 10 years actuarial survival has been respectively 79% after extensive surgery and 78% after conservative treatment. Local recurrences have been observed in 9 cases after meticulous follow-up (median 74.8 months, range 12-178): 3 (5.66%) patients after QUART and 6 (3.97%) after mastectomy; furthermore 1 patients after a conservative treatment (1.88%) has developed a second tumor at the same side probably dependent on the presence in the primary tumor of an extensive intraductal component. No correlations between histological features, grading, positive nodes, receptor status and local recurrences have been found. Only the age of patients looks significantly correlated with frequency of recurrences: 44.45% of local recurrences have been observed in patients less than 45 years old. Local recurrences after QUART have obliged, in all cases, to a radical mastectomy. Furthermore, frequency of distant metastases has been considered: after QUART percentage is lower (9.43%) than after radical mastectomy (13.9%). This consideration looks correlated with the longer follow-up of the later group. A multidisciplinary approach is advised but the most important role is played by surgery. In conclusion it is outlined that conservative surgery is addressed to selection and consenting patients.

Abstract
Primary and sole breast lymphoma is a very rare disease. With the review of our series of 616 cases operated on for breast cancer, only 3 cases (0.48%) of primary breast non-Hodgkin lymphoma (LNH) have been observed. The authors outline the problems concerning diagnosis and therapy of this rare disease: pathological and immunohistochemical aspects are discussed. They stress the importance of staging in order to plan a correct multidisciplinary approach.

Abstract
Aim of the study is to evaluate the biology, the clinical evolution and the prognosis of lobular carcinoma of the breast. We retrospectively evaluated the patients treated in our institution during the last 13 years. 117 patients with lobular carcinoma of the breast and 117 patients, randomized out of 397 patients with 'classical' pattern of ductal carcinoma were compared. Age distribution, type of surgery, tumor size, TNM stage, axillary lymph node involvement, multifocality, multiple breast cancers, local and distant recurrences, overall survival and disease-free survival have been evaluated. There was not a significant difference in tumor size, lymph node involvement, stage distribution, estrogens and progesterone receptors status, local and distant recurrences. The only significant differences were found in multifocality and multiple breast cancers. The said difference does not seem to modify the overall survival and the disease-free survival that are the same in the two groups. Our research shows that tumor size and axillary lymph node status are the only elements that have to be considered in the choice of the surgical treatment and prognosis. It seems that the difference in distant metastatic pattern between lobular and ductal carcinoma is the distinctive feature in the follow-up of these patients.

Abstract
The administration of tri-iodothyronine (T3), 200 mcgs. per day, produced minimal behavioural alteration in a group of 30 chronic schizophrenic patients with known thyroid abnormalities. The combination of 100 mcgs. of T3 and 400 mgs. of chlorpromazine for three months had no beneficial effect on these patients. The above results are discussed in relation to other studies. The presence of purple pigmentation in one of the patients on combined T3 and chlorpromazine is also commented upon.
