Abstract
Video game trailers are very useful tools for attracting potential players. This research focuses on analyzing the emotions that arise while viewing video game trailers and the link between these emotions and storytelling and visual attention. The methodology consisted of a three-step task test with potential users: the first step was to identify the perception of indie games; the second step was to use the eyetracking device (gaze plot, heat map, and fixation points) and link them to fixation points (attention), viewing patterns, and non-visible areas; the third step was to interview users to understand impressions and questionnaires of emotions related to the trailer's storytelling and expectations. The results show an effective assessment of visual attention together with visualization patterns, non-visible areas that may affect game expectations, fixation points linked to very specific emotions, and perceived narratives based on the gaze plot. The innovation in the mixed methodological approach has made it possible to obtain relevant data regarding the link between the emotions perceived by the user and the areas of attention collected with the device. The proposed methodology enables developers to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the information being conveyed so that they can tailor the trailer to the expectations of potential players.

Abstract
Qualitative research activities, including first-day of class surveys and user experience interviews on completion of a subject were carried out to obtain students' feedback in order to improve the design of the subject 'Information Systems' as a part of a general initiative to enhance ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) engineering programs. Due to the COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019) pandemic, La Salle URL adopted an Emergency Remote Teaching tactical solution in the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, just before implementing a strategic learning approach based on a new Smart Classroom (SC) system deployed in the campus facilities. The latter solution was developed to ensure that both on-campus and off-campus students could effectively follow the course syllabus through the use of new technological devices introduced in classrooms and laboratories, reducing the inherent difficulties of online learning. The results of our findings show: (1) No major concerns about the subject were identified by students; (2) Interaction and class dynamics were the main issues identified by students, while saving time on commuting when learning from home and access to recorded class sessions were the aspects that students considered the most advantageous about the SC.

Abstract
Cationic antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have attracted a great interest as novel class of antibiotics that might help in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria. However, some AMPs with high antimicrobial activities are also highly hemolytic and subject to proteolytic degradation from human and bacterial proteases that limit their pharmaceutical uses. In this work a D-diastereomer of Pandinin 2, D-Pin2, was constructed to observe if it maintained antimicrobial activity in the same range as the parental one, but with the purpose of reducing its hemolytic activity to human erythrocytes and improving its ability to resist proteolytic cleavage. Although, the hydrophobic and secondary structure characteristics of L- and D-Pin2 were to some extent similar, an important reduction in D-Pin2 hemolytic activity (30-40 %) was achieved compared to that of L-Pin2 over human erythrocytes. Furthermore, D-Pin2 had an antimicrobial activity with a MIC value of 12.5 μM towards Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus agalactiae and two strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in agar diffusion assays, but it was half less potent than that of L-Pin2. Nevertheless, the antimicrobial activity of D-Pin2 was equally effective as that of L-Pin2 in microdilution assays. Yet, when D- and L-Pin2 were incubated with trypsin, elastase and whole human serum, only D-Pin2 kept its antimicrobial activity towards all bacteria, but in diluted human serum, L- and D-Pin2 maintained similar peptide stability. Finally, when L- and D-Pin2 were incubated with proteases from P. aeruginosa DFU3 culture, a clinical isolated strain, D-Pin2 kept its antibiotic activity while L-Pin2 was not effective.

Abstract
The World Health Organization (WHO) dengue classification scheme for dengue fever (DF) and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF)/dengue shock syndrome (DSS) has been adopted as the standard for diagnosis, clinical management and reporting. In recent years, difficulties in applying the WHO case classification have been reported in several countries. A multicenter study was carried out in Asia and Latin America to analyze the variation and utility of dengue clinical guidelines (DCGs) taking as reference the WHO/PAHO guidelines (1994) and the WHO/SEARO guidelines (1998). A document analysis of 13 dengue guidelines was followed by a questionnaire and Focus Group discussions (FGDs) with 858 health care providers in seven countries. Differences in DCGs of the 13 countries were identified including the concept of warning signs, case classification, use of treatment algorithms and grading into levels of severity. The questionnaires and FGDs revealed (1) inaccessibility of DCGs, (2) lack of training, (3) insufficient number of staff to correctly apply the DCGs at the frontline and (4) the unavailability of diagnostic tests. The differences of the DCGs and the inconsistency in their application suggest a need to re-evaluate and standardise DCGs. This applies especially to case classification and case management.

Abstract
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a virus present all throughout the world that causes infectious mononucleosis (IM) and is highly associated with certain malignancies. This study is a review of current knowledge concerning the pathogenic mechanisms of EBV in tumor and auto-immune diseases and the different new strategies to treat EBV associated pathologies. Phenomena surrounding the proliferation and immortalization of B lymphocytes, the mechanisms of immune escape and the role of CD8+ and CD4+ T cells in the infection by EBV are explained. An analysis is made of the role of EBV proteins during the biological events that take place in primary infection, persistent chronic infection together with an update of the approaches of novel patented therapeutics. Currently there is no vaccine protecting against EBV-associated disorders and no treatment that may inhibit or eliminate their progression. Thus, it is crucial to obtain additional information on the function and importance of genes that play a role on the development of those diseases with which it is associated, as well as on the humoral and cellular immune processes involved in them.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the acceptance and long-term use of insecticide-treated (IT) materials for dengue vector control. METHODS In 2007, IT jar covers and/or curtains (PermaNet®) were distributed under routine conditions to 4101 households (10 clusters) in Venezuela and to 2032 households (22 clusters) in Thailand. The use of IT tools was measured at distribution (uptake), at 5/6 months (short-term use) and at 18/22 months (continued use) after distribution. Determinants of use were assessed with logistic regression analysis. RESULTS The uptake of IT curtains was 76.7% in Venezuela and 92.3% in Thailand. It was associated with being a resident for >5 years (OR Venezuela 3.0 95% CI 2.0-4.4; OR Thailand 3.5 95% CI 1.7-7.3) and with pre-intervention use of ordinary curtains (OR Venezuela 2.2 95% CI 1.4-3.6). The continued use decreased significantly to 38.4% of households in Venezuela and 59.7% in Thailand and was, conditional on short-term use, only determined by the perceived effectiveness of IT curtains (OR Venezuela 13.0 95%CI 8.7-19.5; OR Thailand 4.9 95% CI 3.1-7.8). Disease knowledge and pre-intervention perception of mosquito nuisance were not associated with IT curtains' uptake or use. The uptake of IT jar covers in Venezuela was 21.5% and essentially determined by the presence of uncovered jars in the household (OR 32.5 95% CI 14.5-72.6). Their continued use, conditional on short-time use, was positively associated with the household use of Abate® (OR 7.8 95% CI 2.1-28.9). CONCLUSION The use of IT curtains rapidly declines over time. Continued use is mainly determined by the perceived effectiveness of the tool. This poses a real challenge if IT curtains are to be introduced in dengue control programmes.

Abstract
As dengue continues to emerge as a major public-health problem world-wide, efforts to control the dengue vector Aedes aegypti must become more effective and efficient. Results from larval and pupal surveys applied in Venezuela illustrate the uniqueness of the information gained from pupal surveys; information that is lost when traditional Stegomyia indices are calculated. As most Ae. aegypti pupae will emerge to become adults, controlling the containers that produce the most pupae could have the greatest impact on the adult population. Pupal-survey results in Venezuela showed that large (150- to 200-litre) water drums produce the greatest number of pupae throughout the year. In the rainy season, approximately 70% of all pupae are found in these drums or in tyres, buckets and tanks. Over 80% of pupae in the dry season are found in drums and tanks alone. By targeting only those domestic breeding containers that produce the greatest number of pupae, control efforts may be streamlined to have the greatest impact on reducing the local adult Ae. aegypti population.

Abstract
We identified novel 10 multi-cysteine peptides, namely Magi 7-16, from the spider Macrothele gigas by simple random cDNA screening of the venom gland. Mass analysis of the crude venom detected the mass numbers of the cross-linked forms of all peptides, confirming their presence in the venom. Magi 11, a C-terminus amidated peptide, was chemically synthesized and was indistinguishable from the native peptide proving the feasibility of the method for peptide identification. Moreover, toxicological assays showed diverse lethal or paralytic activities of these peptide toxins on mice and/or insects.

Abstract
Two novel antimicrobial peptides have been identified and characterized from venom of the African scorpion Pandinus imperator. The peptides, designated pandinin 1 and 2, are alpha-helical polycationic peptides, with pandinin 1 belonging to the group of antibacterial peptides previously described from scorpions, frogs and insects, and pandinin 2 to the group of short magainin-type helical peptides from frogs. Both peptides demonstrated high antimicrobial activity against a range of Gram-positive bacteria (2.4-5.2 microM), but were less active against Gram-negative bacteria (2.4-38.2 microM), and only pandinin 2 affected the yeast Candida albicans. Pandinin 2 also demonstrated strong haemolytic activity (11.1-44.5 microM) against sheep erythrocytes, in contrast with pandinin 1, which was not haemolytic. CD studies and a high-resolution structure of pandinin 2 determined by NMR, showed that the two peptides are both essentially helical, but differ in their overall structure. Pandinin 2 is composed of a single alpha-helix with a predominantly hydrophobic N-terminal sequence, whereas pandinin 1 consists of two distinct alpha-helices separated by a coil region of higher flexibility. This is the first report of magainin-type polycationic antimicrobial peptides in scorpion venom. Their presence brings new insights into the mode of action of scorpion venom and also opens new avenues for the discovery of novel antibiotic molecules from arthropod venoms.

Abstract
Some authors have suggested a possible loss of antioxidant factors in alcoholic skeletal myopathy. To assess the relationship between ethanol consumption and serum and muscle levels of alpha-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, and retinol in chronic alcoholics with and without skeletal myopathy, a prospective cross-sectional study was performed in the Alcohol Unit of a 1000-bed university hospital. Twenty-five chronic male alcoholic patients (10 with skeletal myopathy) and 15 male controls of similar age were included. Evaluation of daily and lifetime ethanol consumption, assessment of anthropometric and protein nutritional parameters, and open biopsy of the left deltoid muscle were performed, as well as determinations of serum and muscle levels of retinol, alpha-tocopherol, and ascorbic acid by HPLC analysis. Ten of the 25 chronic alcoholic patients presented histological criteria of skeletal myopathy. Four alcoholics presented caloric malnutrition and three protein malnutrition. All of the muscle biopsies of the control group were entirely normal, as were their nutritional studies. The serum and muscular levels of alpha-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, and retinol were normal and were similar in both alcoholics and controls. Except for serum retinol, these values were also similar in alcoholic patients with or without skeletal myopathy. In the univariate analysis, we identified the total lifetime dose of ethanol (p < 0.003), the muscle arm area (p < 0.05), and serum levels of prealbumin (p < 0.03) and retinol-binding protein (p < 0.05) as factors influencing the development of alcoholic myopathy. However, in multivariate analysis, the total lifetime dose of ethanol was the only independent factor in relation to alcoholic myopathy (p < 0.003). Serum and muscle levels of the antioxidants alpha-tocopherol, ascorbic acid, and retinol do not influence the presence of skeletal myopathy in chronic alcoholic patients.

Abstract
Primary lymphomas of the central nervous system (PLCNS) of T-cell lineage are unusual. It has been suggested that T-cell PLCNS, compared to those of B-cell origin, present some differences in relation to age of presentation, gender, location of the tumor and survival. We describe two cases with T-cell PLCNS and review 22 parenchymatous T-cell PLCNS reported in the English literature. Age, gender and survival of the whole series of 24 T-cell PLCNS did not differ from that reported in large series of PLCNS where the great majority were of B-cell origin. In contrast, a location in the posterior fossa was found in 54% of T-cell PLCNS, whereas this location ranged from 12 go 29% in series of, mostly B-cell, PLCNS. T-cell PLCNS had a higher frequency (33%) of the histologic low grade small lymphocytic lymphoma than B-cell PLCNS (5%). Analysis of six T-cell PLCNS long-term survivors showed that half of them had low grade lymphomas. We conclude that T-cell PLCNS do not differ from those of B-cell origin in age of presentation or gender, but they have a preference to develop in the posterior fossa and a higher frequency of low grade histology which would probably explain the longer survival in some patients.

Abstract
The present study provided evidence for the presence of two forms of nitric oxide synthase(NOS) gene in the human retina. Expression of retinal constitutive type(rbNOS) and inducible type(riNOS) of NOS was detected in human retinal poly A+RNA by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. The deduced amino acid sequence of the human retinal rbNOS showed more than 99% homology with human brain bNOS and that of riNOS was identical to the chondrocytes inducible iNOS with the exception for one amino acid. These differences in amino acid sequences of rbNOS and riNOS, with their counterparts in human brain and human chondrocytes sequences, were only in the non-cofactor binding sites. Northern blot analysis of the human retinal poly A+RNA and total RNA, using the PCR-amplified riNOS probe revealed the existence of riNOS message with the appearance of the band with the expected size of 4.4kb, while the message for rbNOS was not detectable. This was the first report of the deduced nucleotide sequence identification of two NOS genes from a human tissue, while there had been earlier reports from culture cells.

Abstract
Two-hundred and fifty chronically alcoholic men (mean age, 41 +/- 11 years) entering an alcoholism treatment program were studied. Detailed clinical history, nutritional assessment and measurement of muscle strength by electronic myometer were performed in each case. In addition, hepatic ultrasonography and liver biopsy, echocardiography and radionuclide cardiac scanning, and electrophysiologica testing of peripheral nerves were performed when there was clinical evidence of liver disease, cardiomyopathy or neuropathy, respectively. Alcoholic cirrhosis was diagnosed in 20 cases, skeletal myopathy in 117, dilated cardiomyopathy in 20 and peripheral neuropathy in 41 cases. No patients with chronic myopathy or cardiomyopathy showed either clinical or laboratory evidence of malnutrition. Patients with cirrhosis showed a significantly lower lean body mass than controls (P = 0.03) and significantly lower nutritional protein levels than those alcoholics without cirrhosis. Alcoholics with peripheral neuropathy had significantly lower anthropometric parameters and nutrition protein levels than their counterparts (P < 0.001). However, in the multivariate analysis, the only independent factor for developing these complications of alcoholism was the total lifetime dose of ethanol (P < 0.001). We conclude that alcohol-related diseases are common in asymptomatic alcoholic men and these diseases appear to be due to an accumulative toxic effect of ethanol. Age and nutritional status do not seem to play a part in the development of such diseases.

Abstract
The effect of the partial pressure of O(2) and CO(2) on the acid protease production in solid state fermentation by Aspergillus niger on wheat bran was studied. A fermentation system was used, which allowed on-line reactor measurements and continuous data acquisition of pH, temperature, gas flow, pressure drop and CO(2) production. Six paired combinations of CO(2) and O(2) concentrations were studied. The results showed a direct relationship between pressure drop, production of CO(2) and temperature increase. The pH evolution patterns were similar in all cases but different if the measurements were made on-line or on a liquid homogenate of the fermented substrate. Acid protease production was increased when the gas had 4% CO(2), (vol/vol), and it reached its highest level, a 43% increase over air, with a mixture of 4% CO(2) and 21% O(2). The protease production was strongly related to the mold metabolic activity as represented by the total CO(2) evolved.

Abstract
In this work, the growth of the yeast Candida utilis on different solid substrate (wheat bran) and supports (sugarcane bagasse and Amberlite resin) imbibed with a liquid culture medium was studied. Growth was followed by sugars consumption, carbon dioxide production rate (CDPR) and cell count. The results showed the ability of the yeast to grow on the three solid media with fairly good viability and total dextrose consumption in the case of sugarcane bagasse and Amberlite, and partial consumption of wheat bran sugars. After two or three days of culture, a five hundred fold increase in cell population was observed.
