Abstract
Objectives. To assess levels of 25(OH)D among adolescents with symptoms of pica in northern Sudan. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted in North Sudan. Questionaries were used to collect adolescents' sociodemographics. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure 25(OH)D level. Results. Of the 344 adolescents enrolled, 161 (46.8%) and 183 (53.2%) were male and female, respectively and 103 (29.9%) had symptoms of pica. The median (IQR) of 25(OH)D level was significantly lower in adolescents with symptoms of pica. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that while age (coefficient = 1.1, P = .023) was positively associated with 25(OH)D level, female sex (coefficient = -7.5, P < .001), and pica symptoms (coefficient = -3.5, P = .032) were negatively associated with 25(OH)D level. Conclusion. Adolescents with symptoms of pica had lower 25(OH)D levels. Adolescents with symptoms of pica have to be assessed for vitamin D status.

Abstract
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) based on motor imagery (MI) face challenges due to the complex nature of brain activity, nonstationary and high-dimensional properties, and individual variations in motor behaviour. The identification of a consistent "golden subject" in MI-based BCIs remains an open challenge, complicated by multiple evaluation metrics and conflicting trade-offs, presenting complex Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problems. This study proposes a hybrid brain signal decoding model called Hybrid Adaboost Feature Learner (HAFL), which combines feature extraction and classification using VGG-19, STFT, and Adaboost classifier. The model is validated using a pre-recorded MI-EEG dataset from the BCI competition at Graz University. The fuzzy decision-making framework is integrated with HAFL to allocate a golden subject for MI-BCI applications through the Golden Subject Decision Matrix (GSDM) and the Fuzzy Decision by Opinion Score Method (FDOSM). The effectiveness of the HAFL model in addressing inter-subject variability in EEG-based MI-BCI is evaluated using an MI-EEG dataset involving nine subjects. Comparing subject performance fairly is challenging due to complexity variations, but the FDOSM method provides valuable insights. Through FDOSM-based External Group Aggregation (EGA), subject S5 achieves the highest score of 2.900, identified as the most promising golden subject for subject-to-subject transfer learning. The proposed methodology is compared against other benchmark studies from various key perspectives and exhibits significant novelty in several aspects. The findings contribute to the development of more robust and effective BCI systems, paving the way for advancements in subject-to-subject transfer learning for BCI-MI applications.

Abstract
Today, the search for solutions to reduce wound infection and restore wound receptivity also reduces its side effects which are a difficult problem in medical science research. The greatest options for this purpose are hydrogel dressings since they are compatible with tissue and have an antibacterial effect on wound healing. Chronic wounds represent a significant burden on people and healthcare systems worldwide. Bacteria often enter such skin wounds, causing irritation and complicating the healing process. In addition, bacteria cause infection, which inhibits rejuvenation and the production of collagen. This study is aimed at developing novel chitosan (CS)-hydrolyzed starch nanocomposite (HS/Ch-NC) loaded with ciprofloxacin to enhance its skin retention and wound healing efficacy and anti-biofilm efficacy. Drug-loading on the (HS/Ch-NC) and encapsulation efficiency was 55.2% and 97.2%, respectively. The activity of HS-NC loaded with ciprofloxacin as anti-biofilm activity by 72% and 63% against Enterobacter aerogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. The obtained (HS/Ch-NC) loaded with ciprofloxacin is a promising candidate for the development of improved bandage materials, as cell viability and proliferation was assessed using an SRB assay with half-maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC50) at 119.1 µg/ml. In vitro scratch wound healing assay revealed significant (p ≤ 0.05) acceleration in wound closure at 24 h enhanced by 56.04% 24-h and 100% 72-h post-exposure to (HS/Ch-NC) loaded ciprofloxacin, compared to the negative control. In vivo skin retention study revealed that (HS/Ch-NC)-loaded ciprofloxacin showed 3.65-fold higher retention, respectively, than ciprofloxacin. Thus, our study assumes that ciprofloxacin-loaded HS-NC is a potential delivery system for enhancing ciprofloxacin skin retention and wound healing activity.

Abstract
Seniors face many challenges as they age, such as dementia, cognitive and memory disorders, vision and hearing impairment, among others. Although most of them would like to stay in their own homes, as they feel comfortable and safe, in some cases, older people are taken to special institutions, such as nursing homes. In order to provide serious and quality care to elderly people at home, continuous remote monitoring is perceived as a solution to keep them connected to healthcare service providers. The new trend in medical health services, in general, is to move from 'hospital-centric' services to 'home-centric' services with the aim of reducing the costs of medical treatments and improving the recovery experience of patients, among other benefits for both patients and medical centers. Smart energy data captured from electrical home appliance sensors open a new opportunity for remote healthcare monitoring, linking the patient's health-state/health-condition with routine behaviors and activities over time. It is known that deviation from the normal routine can indicate abnormal conditions such as sleep disturbance, confusion, or memory problems. This work proposes the development and deployment of a smart energy data with activity recognition (SEDAR) system that uses machine learning (ML) techniques to identify appliance usage and behavior patterns oriented to older people living alone. The proposed system opens the door to a range of applications that go beyond healthcare, such as energy management strategies, load balancing techniques, and appliance-specific optimizations. This solution impacts on the massive adoption of telehealth in third-world economies where access to smart meters is still limited.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ward rounds are a cornerstone in the educational experience of junior doctors and an essential part of teaching patient care. Here, we aimed to assess the doctors' perception of ward rounds as an educational opportunity and to identify the obstacles faced in conducting a proper ward round in Sudanese hospitals. METHOD A cross-sectional study was conducted from the 15th to the 30th of January 2022 among house officers, medical officers, and registrars in about 50 teaching and referral hospitals in Sudan. House officers and medical officers were considered the learners, while specialist registrars were considered the teachers. Doctors' perceptions were assessed using an online questionnaire, with a 5-level Likert scale to answer questions. RESULTS A total of 2,011 doctors participated in this study (882 house officers, 697 medical officers, and 432 registrars). The participants were aged 26.9 ± 3.2 years, and females constituted about 60% of the sample. An average of 3.1 ± 6.8 ward rounds were conducted per week in our hospitals, with 11.1 ± 20.3 h spent on ward rounds per week. Most doctors agreed that ward rounds are suitable for teaching patient management (91.3%) and diagnostic investigations (89.1%). Almost all the doctors agreed that being interested in teaching (95.1%) and communicating appropriately with the patients (94.7%) make a good teacher in ward rounds. Furthermore, nearly all the doctors agreed that being interested in learning (94.3%) and communicating appropriately with the teacher (94.5%) make a good student on ward rounds. About 92.8% of the doctors stated that the quality of ward rounds could be improved. The most frequently reported obstacles faced during ward rounds were the noise (70%) and lack of privacy (77%) in the ward environment. CONCLUSION Ward rounds have a special value in teaching patient diagnosis and management. Being interested in teaching/learning and having good communication skills were the two major criteria that make a good teacher/learner. Unfortunately, ward rounds are faced with obstacles related to the ward environment. It is mandatory to ensure the quality of both ward rounds' teaching and environment to optimize the educational value and subsequently improve patient care practice.

Abstract
Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) describes the partial or complete occlusion of blood flow in the distal arteries of the body. A decreased arterial patency may occur due to a reduction in the elasticity or diameter of the vessel. The goal of interventions is to decrease incidence and reduce complications by identifying and minimizing the primary causes. This paper discusses PAD affecting the aortoiliac, common femoral, and femoropopliteal arteries. In a significant portion of the population, PAD may lack usual symptoms such as limb pain, claudication, and diminished pulses. Imaging techniques become crucial to ensuring timely diagnosis, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and preventing recurrence. Duplex ultrasound (DUS) is a cheap and non-invasive preliminary technique to detect atherosclerotic plaques and grade arterial stenosis. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) provides the added advantage of minimizing artifacts. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) remains the gold standard for grading the degree of stenosis but is only employed second-line to DUS or MRA due to the high dose of nephrotoxic contrast. Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is able to overcome the anatomical limitations of DUS and MRA and proves to be a suitable alternative to DSA in patients with renal disease. Preventative measures involve monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and tobacco usage. First-line treatment options include endovascular procedures as well as surgical interventions in cases of significant arterial involvement. Endovascular treatments involve the use of balloon angioplasty, drug-coated balloons, and drug-coated stents, to name a few, that serve as minimally invasive techniques to manage PAD. Surgical procedures, although more complex, are considered gold-standard treatment options for long and intricate lesions. Endovascular methods are generally preferred over surgical options as the complication risk is severely reduced and the rates of reintervention are comparable to surgical options.

Abstract
In this research, S-scheme heterojunctions composed of different concentrations of CuO and ZnO nanoparticles are fabricated for eradicating rhodamine B dye under solar radiation. ZnO nanoparticles are designed through a facile sol-gel route employing Triton X-100. Spherical CuO nanoparticles of 15.2 nm and 1.5 eV band gap energy are deposited on ZnO nanoparticles in an ultrasonic bath of 300 W intensity. The physicochemical performance of the photocatalyst is explored by HRTEM, SAED, BET, XRD, DRS and PL. The in situ homogeneous growth of spherical CuO nanoparticles on ZnO active centers shifts the photocatalytic response to the deep visible region and enhances the efficiency of charge carrier separation and transportation. Among all heterojunctions, ZnCu10 containing 10 wt% CuO displays the best photocatalytic rate for expelling 93% of RhB dye within 240 min, which is twenty-fold higher than that of pristine ZnO and CuO. Reactive oxygen species are the predominant species in degrading the dye pollutant on the heterojunction surface, as shown from scrubber trapping experiments and PL spectrum of terephthalic acid. Coupling ZnO as an oxidative photocatalyst and CuO as a reductive photocatalyst generates an efficient S-scheme heterojunction with strong redox power in destructing various organic pollutants.

Abstract
The use of natural solar radiation is a low-cost significant technology for water pollution remediation and production of clean energy. In this work, S-scheme Ag2CO3/g-C3N4 heterojunctions were engineered for carefully eradicating Rhodamine B dye under natural sunlight irradiation. Solid thermal decomposition reactions generate g-C3N4 sheets by annealing urea at 520 °C. Ag2CO3 nanoparticles are directed and localized sonochemically to the active centers of g-C3N4 sheets. The physicochemical properties of the solid specimen were determined by PL, DRS, XRD, HRTEM, mapping, EDX, N2-adsorption-desorption isotherm and XPS analyses. As elucidated by HRTEM, PL and DRS analyses, 5 wt% of spherical Ag2CO3 nanoparticles deposited on the g-C3N4 sheet surface and nearly equidistant from each other elevate the electron-hole separation efficiency and broaden the absorption capacity of photocatalysts. Rhodamine B dye was degraded at a rate of 0.0141 min-1 by heterojunctions containing 5 wt% Ag2CO3 and 95 wt% g-C3N4, which is three-fold higher than that on pristine g-C3N4 nanosheets. Free radical scrubber experiments revealed the contribution of charge carriers and reactive oxygen species to the decomposition of RhB dye with a preferential role of positive holes and superoxide species. PL measurements of terephthalic acid and scrubber trapping experiments provide confirmatory evidence for charge diffusion via the S-scheme mechanism that accounts for the production of electron-hole pairs with strong redox power. This novel research work is contributory to manipulate the S-scheme heterojunction for efficient and low-cost wastewater treatment under natural solar irradiation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study evaluated the effect of Sapindus mukorossi (SM) extract as a final root canal irrigant on sealer penetration (SP) in dentinal tubules and microleakage. MATERIALS AND METHODS Samples were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. An access opening in all samples was performed and the working length was decided using pro taper for canal finishing along with constant irrigation. Specimens were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group 1 was irrigated with 3 ml of 17% EDTA; group 2 was irrigated with SM irrigant and group 3 samples were irrigated with 0.9% saline. After obturation, samples were vertically placed in 1% methylene blue dye cut in half longitudinally, and viewed under a stereomicroscope. Analysis of SP in the dentinal tubule was assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). For microleakage assessment, mean and standard deviation were reported and One-Way ANOVA was applied. SP was compared using Kruskal-Wallis' test. For inspecting the interaction between SM/EDTA and NaOCl, Fisher's exact test was applied. No statistically significant difference between microleakage in any of the tested groups was observed. The control group showed minimum leakage as compared to EDTA and SM. RESULTS The results displayed that there was no significant difference, (p=0.67), between dentinal tubule SP at 2 mm. A significant difference between dentinal tubule SP among groups at 5 mm was observed (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS SM ethanolic extract showed comparable outcomes of smear layer removal and sealer penetration to 17% EDTA, as a final irrigant in root canal cleaning. Therefore, SM has the potential to be used as an adjuvant final irrigant in conjunction with NaOCl.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pica, the craving for and purposive eating of non-food items, is a common worldwide problem, especially among children and pregnant women. There are few published data on pica among adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa, and no study has been carried- out in Sudan. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and associated factors of symptoms of pica among adolescent schoolchildren in northern Sudan. METHODS A school‑based cross‑sectional study was conducted from July to September 2022 among adolescent students (aged 10-19 years) in four public primary and secondary schools in Almatamah locality in north Sudan. Sociodemographic information (age, sex, mother's education, mother's occupation, and father's education) was collected through a questionnaire. Weight and height were measured using a standard procedure, and the body mass index Z-score was computed using the World Health Organization's reference values. Logistic regression analysis was performed. RESULTS Of the 384 enrolled adolescents, 180 (46.9%) were male and 204 (53.1%) were female. Their median (interquartile range) age was 15.1 (13.1‒16.3) years. The prevalence of symptoms of pica was found to be 30.7%, accounting for 118 adolescents. The most common type of pica was geophagia (eating clay and sand; 102 adolescents, 86.4%), followed by pagophagia (eating ice; 14 adolescents, 11.8%) and flour (starch; two adolescents, 1.6%). In the logistic regression analysis, females (adjusted odds ratio = 3.52, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 2.15‒5.78) and a lower level of father's education (adjusted odds ratio = 2.05, 95% CI = 1.26‒3.34) were associated with symptoms of pica. CONCLUSION In Sudan, symptoms of pica are common among adolescents, especially females. Caregivers need to assess pica in adolescents. Further research is needed to develop guidelines, medical training, and practice.

Abstract
The increased discharge of water pollutants drives the development of new and effective wastewater remediation methods. Herein, a magnetic nanocomposite of chitosan-graphene oxide (GO) decorated with copper ferrite (MCSGO) was synthesized under ultrasound agitation and applied to the effective removal of Safranin O (SAF) and indigo carmine (IC) dyes from wastewater. The structural, magnetic, and physicochemical features of the as-prepared MCSGO nanocomposite have been thoroughly investigated using various characterization techniques. The operational parameters such as MCSGO mass, contact time, pH, and initial dye concentration were investigated. The effects of diverse coexisting species on both dye elimination processes were examined. The experimental results demonstrated that the adsorption capacity of MCSGO nanocomposite for IC and SAF was 112.6 and 66.15 mg g-1, respectively. Five different adsorption isotherms were investigated using two-parameter (Langmuir, Tekman, and Freundlich) and three-parameter (Sips, and Redlich-Peterson) models. Thermodynamic studies revealed that the elimination of both dyes on MCSGO nanocomposite was endothermic and spontaneous, with anionic and cationic dye molecules randomly arranged onto the adsorbent nanoparticles. Moreover, the mechanism of dye elimination was deduced. Furthermore, even after five cycles of adsorption and desorption, the as-prepared nanocomposite showed no significant loss in the dye removal efficiency, indicating that it has superior stability and recycling potential.

Abstract
Background Compared to the general workforce, hospital staff has a greater incidence of chronic diseases and mental health illnesses. Wellness programs have been shown to improve the health and well-being of hospital employees by reducing risk factors and promoting healthy behaviors. In the Arab World, there are no available studies on the number, nature, or impact of wellness services provided to healthcare workers. Objective The study aims to assess the prevalence, characteristics, and components of health and wellness programs targeting hospital employees in Arab countries. It also aims to test the association of hospitals' characteristics and the challenges faced by these hospitals with the availability of such programs. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted through an online questionnaire in English and Arabic emailed to directors of Arab hospitals registered in the Arab Hospital Federation. Results Only 39.5% of the hospitals in the Arab region have an established wellness program. No significant association was found between hospital characteristics and the availability of these wellness programs. The most provided services for hospital staff are Flu vaccine (90.7%), pre-employment medical exam (79.1%), healthy food options (65.1%), and health risk assessment (60.5%), while the least common provided services are mental health (20.9%) and stress management (23.3%). The most common challenges facing wellness services (scale: 0-10) are financial restriction (5.95), creating a culture of health (5.88), and motivating employees (5.56). Only 4.7% of hospitals provide incentives to participate in their wellness programs. Conclusion In general, Arab hospitals lack a wellness culture, and more investment is needed in essential wellness services such as mental health, weight reduction, stress management, and smoking cessation.

Abstract
The advances in the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing opened new opportunities for developing various smart grid applications and services. The rapidly increasing adoption of IoT devices has enabled the development of applications and solutions to manage energy consumption efficiently. This work presents the design and implementation of a home energy management system (HEMS), which allows collecting and storing energy consumption data from appliances and the main load of the home. Two scenarios are designed and implemented: a local HEMS isolated from the Internet and relies on its processing and storage duties using an edge device and a Cloud HEMS using AWS IoT Core to manage incoming data messages and provide data-driven services and applications. A testbed was carried out in a real house in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, over a one-year period, where four appliances were used to collect energy consumption using smart plugs, as well as collecting the main energy load of the house through a data logger acting as a smart meter. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first electrical energy dataset with a 10-second sampling rate from a real household in Valparaiso, Chile. Results show that both implementations perform the baseline tasks (collecting, storing, and controlling) for a HEMS. This work contributes by providing a detailed technical implementation of HEMS that enables researchers and engineers to develop and implement HEMS solutions to support different smart home applications.

Abstract
With the growing need to obtain information about power consumption in buildings, it is necessary to investigate how to collect, store, and visualize such information using low-cost solutions. Currently, the available building management solutions are expensive and challenging to support small and medium-sized buildings. Unfortunately, not all buildings are intelligent, making it difficult to obtain such data from energy measurement devices and appliances or access such information. The internet of things (IoT) opens new opportunities to support real-time monitoring and control to achieve future smart buildings. This work proposes an IoT platform for remote monitoring and control of smart buildings, which consists of four-layer architecture: power layer, data acquisition layer, communication network layer, and application layer. The proposed platform allows data collection for energy consumption, data storage, and visualization. Various sensor nodes and measurement devices are considered to collect information on energy use from different building spaces. The proposed solution has been designed, implemented, and tested on a university campus considering three scenarios: an office, a classroom, and a laboratory. This work provides a guideline for future implementation of intelligent buildings using low-cost open-source solutions to enable building automation, minimize power consumption costs, and guarantee end-user comfort.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is an established therapy in patients with symptomatic heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF <35%) (HFrEF) that have conduction disturbances as measured by prolonged QRS duration of >130 ms. Mechanical dyssynchrony (MD) in echocardiography has not proven benefit to determine CRT indication, but is hypothesized to be of predictive value. Both MD aspects of “apical rocking” (AR) but also “septal flash” (SF) have been shown to be a predictive value in short- and medium-term follow-up in CRT, but no trial has tested long-term effects yet.
Purpose
This study investigated the impact of AR and SF on long-term survival in CRT recipients.
Methods and results
425 HFrEF patients (mean age: 63.0±10.6 years, 72.3% male, 60.7% non-ischemic etiology) with ESC guideline-derived CRT indication have been implanted and additionally investigated for MD markers at baseline as well as after a 11.5±8.0 months follow-up including long-term survival. Herein AR and/or SF were identified in 307 (72,2%) participants at baseline. During follow-up both AR and/or SF disappeared in 256 (83.4%) patients through CRT use. The overall mean survival was 95.9±52.9 months. Univariable analysis showed beneficial survival for women over men (109.1±52.4 vs. 90.9±52.4 months; p<0.001). Moreover, younger (<60 years) patients profit more than older patients (110.6±53.7 vs. 88.6±51.1 months; p<0.001). Interestingly, patients with MD markers at baseline generally had an improved overall survival (106.2±52.0 vs. 68.9±45.4 months; p<0.001), and in addition to that we found the best survival in patients with disappeared over persisting mechanical dyssynchrony echocardiography parameters in CRT (111.6±51.2 vs. 79.7±47.6 months p<0.001). Multivariate analysis shows age and presence of MD at baseline to be powerful predictors for long-term survival in CRT HFrEF patients (Figures 1 and 2).
Conclusion
Novel echocardiography MD parameters before CRT implantation predict long-term survival. Moreover, long-term survival even further improves when AR and/or SF disappear through CRT in HFrEF. Our results encourage a prospective, randomized, controlled, multicenter trial to study clinical implementation of MD in CRT patients.

Among all mandibular fracture 25.0 to 40.0% fractures are regarded as condylar and subcondylar fracture. Commonly, reduction of subcondylar fracture is done under general anaesthesia. Different approaches were found for the surgical treatment of condylar fractures besides intraoral approaches such as the pre-auricular, submandibular, rhytidectomy, retromandibular. This is a prospective observational study which was performed to find out the outcome of retromandibular approach for subcondylar fracture treatment of mandible i.e. to find out correction of occlusion and establishment of jaw function, infection, hematoma, salivary fistula, facial nerve damage, haematoma etc complication. Surgical treatment of subcondylar fractures of 15 patients was done in Dhaka Dental College and Hospital and different private centres in Dhaka and Mymensingh, Bangladesh from January 2019 to December 2021 in retromandibular transparortid approach. The patients were evaluated for hematoma, infection, Frey's syndrome, salivary fistula, facial nerve damage, occlusion, fracture site stability, chronic pain in the fracture site and temporomandibular joint movements in the post operative period. Facial nerve injury was not observed. Postoperative swelling of parotid region developed in first two patients. Single patient developed paresis in zygomatic branch of facial nerve causing left upper eyelid muscle weak and after two weeks of physiotherapy it became normal. Salivary fistula developed in three patients which resolved spontaneously. Outcome of this approach like good anatomy and function was found in all cases. Good articular function was obtained in all the cases. By this retromandibular approach condylar fracture reduction; fixation and healing were managed comfortably. However, direct vision of facial nerve fibres has limited the risk of facial nerve injury.

Abstract
Objective
This study aims to determine predictive factors of mortality within 3 months after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
Methods
This prospective cohort study was carried out at Assiut University stroke center in collaboration with Ain Shams University Egypt. Forty-four patients with anterior circulation AIS underwent MT between the first of January 2020 to the end of December 2020. They were evaluated for detection of death rates and identification of risks of 3-month mortality after MT.
Results
This study comprised 44 patients (52.3% male) with a mean age of 64.3 years. The mean time from onset to femoral arterial puncture was 304.1 min. The mean Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score were 9.3 and 19.2, respectively. The 3-month mortality rate was 13.6%. Univariate analyses found that higher baseline NIHSS score (mean 22.2 vs. 18.7, p = 0.021), absence of good collateral (16.7% vs. 68.4%, p = 0.02), longer duration of procedure ≥ 60 min (66.7% vs. 23.7%, p = 0.032), lower rates of successful recanalization (83.3% vs. 28.9%, p = 0.01) and developing symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (33.3% vs. 5.3%, p = 0.026) were associated with 3-month mortality. Multivariate analyses found that low rates of successful recanalization (OR 0.081; 95% CI 0.009–0.780, p = 0.030) remained significant independent predictive factor of 3-month mortality.
Conclusion
Successful recanalization was an independent predictor of 3-month mortality after MT.

Abstract
Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a global health problem associated with significant morbidity during reproductive age. Only a few published studies that address the clinical manifestations and phenotypic presentation of the disease have been conducted in Africa, including Sudan. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the clinical and biochemical presentation of the different PCOS phenotypes among infertile Sudanese women. Methods A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted from January to December 2019. A total of 368 infertile women with PCOS (based on the Rotterdam criteria) were recruited from a fertility center in Khartoum, Sudan. Clinical, hormonal, and ultrasonographic characteristics were described and compared between the four phenotypes of PCOS. Results Majority (321 [87.2%]) of the women had oligo/anovulation (OA). Polycystic ovary morphology on ultrasound appeared in 236 (64.1%) women, acne in 171 (46.5%) women, acanthosis nigricans in 81 (22.0%) women, and hirsutism in 101 (27.4%) women. Phenotype D was the most prevalent among infertile Sudanese women (51.6%), followed by phenotype B (22.6%), phenotype C (18.2%), and phenotype A (7.6%). No statistical differences in the body mass index and hormonal profile between the four phenotypes were noted. Women with phenotype A were older and had high mean blood pressure, and a higher waist/hip ratio was observed among women with phenotype D. Conclusion Unlike the global distribution of PCOS phenotypes, Sudanese women uniquely expressed phenotype D as the most prevalent. More epidemiological studies are needed in the region due to geographical, ethnic, and genetic variations. Abstract
Subclavian artery calcification (SAC) affects 2% of the population and presents a serious risk of developing into subclavian steal syndrome (SSS). Risk factors for plaque formation of the subclavian artery include diabetes, hypertension, and smoking. While SAC generally presents as asymptomatic, symptoms in severe cases may include numbness, pain at rest, and ischemic gangrene. Patients with severe SSS are at high risk of developing neurological symptoms as a result of vertebrobasilar insufficiency affecting posterior cerebral perfusion. On physical examination, SSS is preliminarily diagnosed from bilateral inter-arm systolic blood pressure discrepancy (>10 mmHg), which can be further confirmed with vascular imaging. Duplex ultrasound (DUS) is a cost-effective and non-invasive baseline technique for visualizing luminal stenosis and quantifying peak systolic velocity (PSV). Computed tomography angiography (CTA) provides high-quality, fast, three-dimensional (3D) imaging at the cost of introducing nephrotoxic contrast agents. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is the safest 3D imaging modality, without the use of X-rays and contrast agents, that is useful in assessing plaque characteristics and degree of stenosis. DUS-assisted digital subtraction angiography (DSA) remains the gold standard for grading the degree of stenosis in the subclavian artery and determining the distance between the puncture site and lesion, which can be carried out in a combined procedure with endovascular management strategies. The fundamental treatment options are surgical and endovascular intervention. Endovascular treatment options include percutaneous transluminal angiography (PTA) for recanalization of the stenosed vessel and permanent balloon stenting to prevent collapse after PTA. Overall, the benefits of endovascular management encompass faster recovery, lower stenosis recurrence rate, and lower incidence of complications, making it the treatment of choice in low-risk patients. Surgical interventions, although more complex, are considered gold-standard treatment options.

Abstract
Owing to the limitations of Pythagorean fuzzy and intuitionistic fuzzy sets, scientists have developed a distinct and successive fuzzy set called the q-rung orthopair fuzzy set (q-ROFS), which eliminates restrictions encountered by decision-makers in multicriteria decision making (MCDM) methods and facilitates the representation of complex uncertain information in real-world circumstances. Given its advantages and flexibility, this study has extended two considerable MCDM methods the fuzzy-weighted zero-inconsistency (FWZIC) method and fuzzy decision by opinion score method (FDOSM) under the fuzzy environment of q-ROFS. The extensions were called q-rung orthopair fuzzy-weighted zero-inconsistency (q-ROFWZIC) method and q-rung orthopair fuzzy decision by opinion score method (q-ROFDOSM). The methodology formulated had two phases. The first phase 'development' presented the sequential steps of each method thoroughly.The q-ROFWZIC method was formulated and used in determining the weights of evaluation criteria and then integrated into the q-ROFDOSM for the prioritisation of alternatives on the basis of the weighted criteria. In the second phase, a case study regarding the MCDM problem of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine distribution was performed. The purpose was to provide fair allocation of COVID-19 vaccine doses. A decision matrix based on an intersection of 'recipients list' and 'COVID-19 distribution criteria' was adopted. The proposed methods were evaluated according to systematic ranking assessment and sensitivity analysis, which revealed that the ranking was subject to a systematic ranking that is supported by high correlation results over different scenarios with variations in the weights of criteria.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), is a prevalent condition characterized by repeated episodes of pharyngeal airway obstruction resulting in hypopnea and apnea episodes during sleep leading to nightly awakenings. OSA is a major contributor to the healthcare burden worldwide due to its high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. There is growing evidence to support a pathophysiological link between OSA and venous thromboembolism (VTE). The pro-inflammatory state along with intermittent hypoxia that is invoked in OSA is associated with blood hypercoagulability, venous stasis, and endothelial dysfunction leading to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). In this systematic review, we aim to analyze and assess the available literature on OSA and VTE (or DVT/PE) to determine whether OSA is an independent risk factor for VTE.

Abstract
Platelets are involved in regeneration at sites of bony defect, apart from their function in coagulation. An autologous preparation platelet-rich plasma gel applied to sites of bony defects after surgical treatment of jaw cyst. This case-control study was conducted in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from September 2017 to August 2018. Total 30 patients were chosen having jaw cyst. They were divided into 2 groups; Group A and Group B, where Group A got the platelet rich plasma, after removal of the cystic lesion; and Group B got the normal usual treatment. Platelet rich plasma gel was prepared using a standardized technique and applied to the surgical site of the Group A. The differences of radiographic changes between the two groups at 6th, 12th, 18th and 24th weeks after surgery were analyzed. Study showed significant changes in early bone regeneration in group A at 12th and 18th weeks post operatively. Platelet rich plasma induces early bone regeneration and it has proven successful outcome.

Abstract
A substantial impediment to widespread Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination is vaccine hesitancy. Many researchers across scientific disciplines have presented countless studies in favor of COVID-19 vaccination, but misinformation on social media could hinder vaccination efforts and increase vaccine hesitancy. Nevertheless, studying people's perceptions on social media to understand their sentiment presents a powerful medium for researchers to identify the causes of vaccine hesitancy and therefore develop appropriate public health messages and interventions. To the best of the authors' knowledge, previous studies have presented vaccine hesitancy in specific cases or within one scientific discipline (i.e., social, medical, and technological). No previous study has presented findings via sentiment analysis for multiple scientific disciplines as follows: (1) social, (2) medical, public health, and (3) technology sciences. Therefore, this research aimed to review and analyze articles related to different vaccine hesitancy cases in the last 11 years and understand the application of sentiment analysis on the most important literature findings. Articles were systematically searched in Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, IEEEXplore, ScienceDirect, and Ovid from January 1, 2010, to July 2021. A total of 30 articles were selected on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. These articles were formed into a taxonomy of literature, along with challenges, motivations, and recommendations for social, medical, and public health and technology sciences. Significant patterns were identified, and opportunities were promoted towards the understanding of this phenomenon.

Abstract
During the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, different technologies, including telehealth, are maximised to mitigate the risks and consequences of the disease. Telehealth has been widely utilised because of its usability and safety in providing healthcare services during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a systematic literature review which provides extensive evidence on the impact of COVID-19 through telehealth and which covers multiple directions in a large-scale research remains lacking. This study aims to review telehealth literature comprehensively since the pandemic started. It also aims to map the research landscape into a coherent taxonomy and characterise this emerging field in terms of motivations, open challenges and recommendations. Articles related to telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic were systematically searched in the WOS, IEEE, Science Direct, Springer and Scopus databases. The final set included (n = 86) articles discussing telehealth applications with respect to (i) control (n = 25), (ii) technology (n = 14) and (iii) medical procedure (n = 47). Since the beginning of the pandemic, telehealth has been presented in diverse cases. However, it still warrants further attention. Regardless of category, the articles focused on the challenges which hinder the maximisation of telehealth in such times and how to address them. With the rapid increase in the utilization of telehealth in different specialised hospitals and clinics, a potential framework which reflects the authors' implications of the future application and opportunities of telehealth has been established. Abstract
The destruction of toxic pollutants and production of hydrogen gas on the surface of semiconductors under light irradiation is the main significance of photocatalysis. Heterojunctions with matching in band gap energy are urgently required for enhancing the redox power of the charge carriers. A step S-scheme BiVO3/SnO2 nano-heterojunction was carefully synthesized for a successful photodegradation of amaranth dye and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Tetragonal SnO2 nanoparticles of 80 m2 g-1 surface area and distinct mesoporous structure were fabricated by a sol-gel route in the presence of Tween-80 as the pore structure directing agent. BiVO3 nanoparticles were deposited homogeneously on the SnO2 surface in an ultrasonic bath of power intensity 300 W. The photocatalytic efficiency in the destruction of amaranth dye soar with increasing BiVO3 contents of up to 10 wt%. The hydrogen evolution rate reached 8.2 mmol g-1 h-1, which is eight times stronger than that of pristine SnO2. The sonicated nanocomposites were investigated by XRD, BET, FESEM, HRTEM, EDS, DRS and PL techniques. The step S-scheme heterojunction with superior oxidative and reductive power is the primary key for the exceptional photocatalytic process. The PL of terephthalic acid and the scavenger trapping experiments reveal the charge migration through the step S-scheme mechanism rather than the type (II) heterojunction mechanism.

Abstract
A ZnS/SiO2 photocatalyst was synthesized using a low-cost sol-gel wet chemical procedure. The as-synthesized ZnS/SiO2 nanocomposites with different molar ratios exhibited superior performance in the photodegradation of two organic dyes under UV irradiation, with complete degradation of both dyes after 2 hours of exposure to UV irradiation. The photocatalyst structure, microstructure, and surface area were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and nitrogen adsorption (S BET) studies. The results demonstrate that the ZnS/SiO2 photocatalyst with 15% ZnS content has a bandgap energy similar to that of ZnS alone with a higher surface area of approximately 150 m2 g-1, which effectively increases the number of active sites and improves the photocatalytic activity of the prepared material. The measured bandgap energies were compared with the theoretical values obtained using the density functional theory (DFT) method, and the values were found to be very similar, with a low error percentage. In the case of a high ZnS content (greater than 15%), active site blocking occurred, and the removal rate dropped below 50%. The obtained results indicate that the photocatalytic data are in good agreement with the experimental characterization results for the prepared materials, including the BET and XRD results, confirming a close association between the photocatalytic activity and the surface area of the fabricated photocatalyst.

Abstract
AIMS To determine the occurrence, diversity, antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation of Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolated from marine fishes in Bangladesh. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 80 marine fishes were obtained from the local markets and examined for the presence of V. parahaemolyticus. All the isolated V. parahaemolyticus were characterized for the presence of virulence markers, thermostable direct hemolysin (TDH) or thermostable direct hemolysin related hemolysin (TRH). Isolates were serotyped and further characterized by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus sequence PCR (ERIC-PCR) typing to analyse the genetic diversity. Moreover, biofilm formation and antibiotic resistance patterns were also determined. About 63·75% (51/80) of the tested marine fishes were contaminated with V. parahaemolyticus. From the contaminated fishes, 71 representatives V. parahaemolyticus were isolated and none of them harboured tdh and trh virulence genes. Nine different O-groups and seven different K-types were found by serological analysis and the dominant serotype was O5:KUT. In ERIC-PCR analysis, eight clusters (A-H) were found and the most common pattern was A (46·5%). All of the isolates were resistant to ampicillin and 78·9% of isolates were resistant to streptomycin. The highest biofilm formation was found at 37°C compared to 25°C and 4°C. CONCLUSION Diverse V. parahaemolyticus are present in marine fishes in the local market of Bangladesh with antibiotic-resistant properties and biofilm formation capacity. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY The widespread prevalence of diverse V. parahaemolyticus in marine fishes is an issue of serious concern, and it entails careful monitoring to ascertain the safety of seafood consumers.

Abstract
<b>Background and Objective:</b> Biological fertilization in the development of agriculture became one new strategy in the increased production of field crops to decrease the costs of production input and environmental pollution. This study focused on the influence of biochar fertilization on the productivity of faba bean varieties under sandy soils. <b>Materials and Methods:</b> Appreciation of the yield and its components, in addition to measurement of grain protein content as well as carbohydrates (%) of faba bean. <b>Results:</b> The data obtained indicated that the biochar amendment affects plant production at different rates, where the best yield obtained is 90 kg fed<sup>1</sup>. The grain yield increase is significant for the variety's types where, Mariout-2, followed by Nubaria-3 followed by Giza-716 for the addition of 90 kg fed<sup>1</sup> of biochar as referenced by the non-conditioning treatment. Likewise, the protein content was highest in the Mariout-2 variety, followed by Nubaria-3 variety and Giza-716 variety for the addition. This improvement may be regarded to the impact of biochar on the physic-chemical characteristics for the soils, in addition to the biological characteristics. Furthermore, the biochar itself add nutrient to the soil after decomposition. The best improvement happens by the long-term cropping for a long period could be reached up to years. <b>Conclusion:</b> The conclusion that plant growth was better at a high rate (90 kg fed<sup>1</sup>) but the economy of this rate may be questioned, under the condition of the study. However, the validation for different soils may vary with different rates, which needs more research. Also, it is recommended to use Mariout-2 cultivars for their high production under these conditions.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is the worst sequel following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), representing a challenge in prediction and prevention. The current study aims to identify the optimum predictors of DCI including CT perfusion (CTP) and to determine the best prognostic thresholds.
This prospective study included 49 SAH patients. All patients were treated with the standard therapy and underwent non-contrast CT, CTP, and CTA within 3 days after SAH. Hunt and Hess and Fisher scales were assessed besides quantitative CTP parameters. The primary endpoint was DCI within 21 days after SAH, defined as clinical deterioration or infarction.
Results
Out of 49 eligible patients with SAH, 9 patients developed DCI. Univariate analysis revealed that Hunt and Hess scale, Fisher scale, the presence of a cerebral aneurysm, and mean transit time (MTT) were predictive for DCI. Diagnostic threshold values by ROC curve analysis with optimal sensitivity and specificity were Hunt and Hess scale > 2, Fisher scale > 2, and MTT of 4.65 s.
Conclusion
MTT is a sensitive and specific predictor of DCI. However, Hunt and Hess scale has the optimal sensitivity and specificity to distinguish between patients who developed DCI and clinically stable patients.

Abstract
Interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3 (IFITM3) has previously been identified as an endosomal protein that blocks viral infection1-3. Here we studied clinical cohorts of patients with B cell leukaemia and lymphoma, and identified IFITM3 as a strong predictor of poor outcome. In normal resting B cells, IFITM3 was minimally expressed and mainly localized in endosomes. However, engagement of the B cell receptor (BCR) induced both expression of IFITM3 and phosphorylation of this protein at Tyr20, which resulted in the accumulation of IFITM3 at the cell surface. In B cell leukaemia, oncogenic kinases phosphorylate IFITM3 at Tyr20, which causes constitutive localization of this protein at the plasma membrane. In a mouse model, Ifitm3-/- naive B cells developed in normal numbers; however, the formation of germinal centres and the production of antigen-specific antibodies were compromised. Oncogenes that induce the development of leukaemia and lymphoma did not transform Ifitm3-/- B cells. Conversely, the phosphomimetic IFITM3(Y20E) mutant induced oncogenic PI3K signalling and initiated the transformation of premalignant B cells. Mechanistic experiments revealed that IFITM3 functions as a PIP3 scaffold and central amplifier of PI3K signalling. The amplification of PI3K signals depends on IFITM3 using two lysine residues (Lys83 and Lys104) in its conserved intracellular loop as a scaffold for the accumulation of PIP3. In Ifitm3-/- B cells, lipid rafts were depleted of PIP3, which resulted in the defective expression of over 60 lipid-raft-associated surface receptors, and impaired BCR signalling and cellular adhesion. We conclude that the phosphorylation of IFITM3 that occurs after B cells encounter antigen induces a dynamic switch from antiviral effector functions in endosomes to a PI3K amplification loop at the cell surface. IFITM3-dependent amplification of PI3K signalling, which in part acts downstream of the BCR, is critical for the rapid expansion of B cells with high affinity to antigen. In addition, multiple oncogenes depend on IFITM3 to assemble PIP3-dependent signalling complexes and amplify PI3K signalling for malignant transformation.

Abstract
Background It is a well-established fact that hormonal changes significantly influence the consumer behaviors and their purchase intentions. However, attention to the conspicuous buying due to the mood swings, as a result of hormonal changes, during the pregnancy have been largely ignored in the literature. Aims The current research aims to examine the prospective association of conspicuous purchase intentions with hormonal changes and mood swings during the pregnancy. Methods An experimental procedure was used to assess the data collected from pregnant women (n = 116) and the hypotheses were analyzed using recall probability and recall position measures. Results The hormonal changes during the pregnancy were analyzed in three stages known as pregnancy trimesters suggested by the relevant literature (Trimester-1 = 39, Trimister-2 = 36 and Trimester-3 = 41). The respondents were exposed to visual attention of specifically designed images with a unique combination of the status and functional products. The ROC values for Trimester 2 is higher in all 4 graphs (0.923, 0.960, 0.892, and 0.923) respectively than Trimester 1 and 3. Conclusion Findings revealed that the women purchase preferences shift as pregnancy move from one trimester to another. Women pay more attention to status products during the 2nd trimester as compared to 1st and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy.

Abstract
Calorie restriction (CR) is considered one of the most robust ways to extend life span and reduce the risk of age-related diseases, including cancer, as shown in many different organisms, whereas opposite effects have been associated with high fat diets (HFDs). Despite the proven contribution of sirtuins in mediating the effects of CR in longevity, the involvement of these nutrient sensors, specifically, in the diet-induced effects on tumorigenesis has yet to be elucidated. Previous studies focusing on SIRT1, do not support a critical role for this sirtuin family member in CR-mediated cancer prevention. However, the contribution of other family members which exhibit strong deacetylase activity is unexplored. To fill this gap, we aimed at investigating the role of SIRT2 and SIRT3 in mediating the anti and pro-tumorigenic effect of CR and HFD, respectively. Our results provide strong evidence supporting distinct, context-dependent roles played by these two family members. SIRT2 is indispensable for the protective effect of CR against tumorigenesis. On the contrary, SIRT3 exhibited oncogenic properties in the context of HFD-induced tumorigenesis, suggesting that SIRT3 inhibition may mitigate the cancer-promoting effects of HFD. Given the different functions regulated by SIRT2 and SIRT3, unraveling downstream targets/pathways involved may provide opportunities to develop new strategies for cancer prevention.

Abstract
Nine genetically diverse sunflower promising lines in their economic trait were crossed using line by tester mating design in 2018 spring season, to estimate per se performance, combining ability, heterosis, gene action and heritability for earliness, yield and its attributes traits. The parents involved four sunflower CMS lines namely L1 (A3), L2 (A5), L3 (A9) and L4 (A13) (called hereafter “Lines” (as female parents) and five sunflower genotypes T1 (RF9), T2 (RF10), T3 (RF11), T4 (RF14) and T5 (RF1) as male parents (called hereafter “Tester”). In 2018 and 2019 summer season, the nine parents along with their 20 F1s seeds were evaluated at Shandaweel Agricultural Research Station, ARC, Sohag Governorate, Egypt using a randomized complete blocks design with three replications. Mean squares due to parents (P), crosses (C), CMS lines (L), RF testers (T), P vs C and L x T were significant for all studied traits. A larger magnitude of non-additive gene action than additive was revealed by greater ratios (GCA/ SCA) than unity for all studied traits (except for days to 50% flowering). A5 and A13 of CMS lines and RF11 and RF14 of RF lines proved to be the best general combiners for seed weight plant-1 and one or more of its attributes traits. Moreover, the best cross combinations A13 x RF11, A13 x RF1 and A5 x RF9 performed better than other developed hybrids in view of seed weight plant-1 and one or more of its attributes, hence these F1 hybrids could further be used on commercial exploitation.

Abstract
Development of new technologies for pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass is a current research challenge. In this way, hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) was used to assist alkaline hydrogen peroxide pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse (SCB) in sequential batches (SB-HC), semi-continuous (SC-HC) and continuous (C-HC) processes. Pretreatment resulted in compositional modifications in the material, mainly regarding the cellulose and lignin contents. The released sugars after enzymatic hydrolysis resulted, on average, in 42 g and 32-35 g of glucose per 100 g of SCB for samples treated in B-HC (10 min of process) and SC-HC process (7.5 min residence time), respectively. In C-HC process, with an average residence time of 7.5 min and 3.75 min, 38-46 g and 32-38 g of glucose per 100 g of SCB were obtained respectively in enzymatic hydrolysis step. HC technology was shown as a promising alternative for pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass in all evaluated configurations aiming to produce high value bioproducts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infertility is a big health problem worldwide. Few data exist on infertility in Sudan. METHODS A descriptive study was conducted to assess the pattern and the causes of infertility among couples (800) attending the University of Khartoum Fertility Centre, Saad Abualila Teaching Hospital in Khartoum, Sudan. The data on the socio-demographic characteristics of the patients, the type of infertility whether primary or secondary and the causes of infertility were extracted from the medical files retrospectively. RESULTS The mean (SD) age of the females was 32.4 (7.4) years while that of the males was 37.5 (7.2) years. The mean (SD) duration of infertility was 4.9(3.9) years. Five hundred and fifty one (68.9%) couples had primary infertility, while the remainder 249(31.1%) had secondary infertility. Two hundred and eighty four (35.5%) couples had male infertility, 342(42.8%) couples had female infertility. One hundred and forty seven (18.4%) couples had combined male and female infertility and in 27 (3.4%) couples the cause of infertility was not identified. Factors identified in the female infertility (342) were; anovulation (178, 52.05%), tubal factor (142, 41.52%), uterine factor (7, 2.05%) and other/combined (7, 2.05%). Azoospermia (75, 26.41%), oligozoospermia (45, 15.85%), asthenozoospermia (51, 17.96%), teratospermia (15, 5.28%) and mixed pathology (101, 35.56%) were the causes of the male infertility (n = 284). Female factors of infertility were observed more frequently among couples with secondary infertility compared with primary infertility (143/551(57.4) vs. 199/249(36.1), P < 0.001. CONCLUSION The current study showed a high rate of primary infertility and female factor predominates compared with male factors. Future research direction should focus on the reasons why majority of clients seek this service very late.

Abstract
Purpose: To examine the effects of fatiguing isometric contractions on maximal eccentric strength and electromechanical delay (EMD) of the knee flexors in healthy young adults of different training status. Methods: Seventy-five male participants (27.7 ± 5.0 years) were enrolled in this study and allocated to three experimental groups according to their training status: athletes (ATH, n = 25), physically active adults (ACT, n = 25), and sedentary participants (SED, n = 25). The fatigue protocol comprised intermittent isometric knee flexions (6-s contraction, 4-s rest) at 60% of the maximum voluntary contraction until failure. Pre- and post-fatigue, maximal eccentric knee flexor strength and EMDs of the biceps femoris, semimembranosus, and semitendinosus muscles were assessed during maximal eccentric knee flexor actions at 60, 180, and 300°/s angular velocity. An analysis of covariance was computed with baseline (unfatigued) data included as a covariate. Results: Significant and large-sized main effects of group (p ≤ 0.017, 0.87 ≤ d ≤ 3.69) and/or angular velocity (p < 0.001, d = 1.81) were observed. Post hoc tests indicated that regardless of angular velocity, maximal eccentric knee flexor strength was lower and EMD was longer in SED compared with ATH and ACT (p ≤ 0.025, 0.76 ≤ d ≤ 1.82) and in ACT compared with ATH (p = ≤0.025, 0.76 ≤ d ≤ 1.82). Additionally, EMD at post-test was significantly longer at 300°/s compared with 60 and 180°/s (p < 0.001, 2.95 ≤ d ≤ 4.64) and at 180°/s compared with 60°/s (p < 0.001, d = 2.56), irrespective of training status. Conclusion: The main outcomes revealed significantly higher maximal eccentric strength and shorter eccentric EMDs of knee flexors in individuals with higher training status (i.e., athletes) following fatiguing exercises. Therefore, higher training status is associated with better neuromuscular functioning (i.e., strength, EMD) of the hamstring muscles in fatigued condition. Future longitudinal studies are needed to substantiate the clinical relevance of these findings.

Abstract
Background: Helicobacter pylori and Chlamydia trachomatis infections are associated with many complications of pregnancy including preeclampsia. The association between H. pylori and C. trachomatis with preeclampsia needs to be further explored.Methods: A case-control study was conducted at Saad Abualila Hospital, Khartoum, Sudan during the period of February to August 2015 to investigate the association between H. pylori or C. trachomatis with preeclampsia. The cases were women with preeclampsia and healthy pregnant women were the controls. The obstetrics and clinical history were gathered using questionnaires. Weight and height were measured and were used to compute body mass index (BMI). H. pylori and C. trachomatis antibodies (IgG) were determined by their specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), respectively.Results: There was no significant difference in the age, parity, gestational age, BMI, and hemoglobin between the two groups (93 women in each arm). In all, 31 and 62 cases were severe and mild preeclampsia, respectively. H. pylori seropositivity (IgG) was significantly higher in the preeclamptic women compared with their respective controls (80/93 [86.0%] versus 52/93 [55.9%], p < 0.001). In binary logistic regression, H. pylori seropositivity (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 4.933, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.082-11.692) was associated with preeclampsia. No C. trachomatis seropositive women were detected in the studied subjects.Conclusion: The current study confirmed that H. pylori, but not C. trachomatis, is associated with preeclampsia.
