Abstract
The co-occurrence of high As and F concentrations in saline groundwater in arid and semi-arid regions has attracted considerable attention. However, the factors determining the elevated concentrations of the two elements in surface water in these regions have not been sufficiently studied, and their implications for the poor-quality of local groundwater (high levels of As, F, and salinity) are unknown. A total of 18 water samples were collected from Wuliangsu Lake, irrigation/drainage channels, and the Huanghe (i.e., Yellow River) in the Hetao Basin, China. The pH, concentrations of As and F as well as those of other major elements, and stable isotope (H and O) compositions were analyzed. The water samples had a high pH (7.85-9.01, mean 8.25) and high TDS (402-9778 mg/L, mean 1920 mg/L) values. In six of the 10 lake samples, As concentration was above 10 μg/L (maximum 69.1 μg/L) and, in one of them, F concentration was above 1.5 mg/L. Interestingly, the high As, F, and TDS values simultaneously detected in the lake water were similar to those previously reported in local groundwater, and all water samples showed a significant positive correlation between As and F concentrations (R2 = 0.96, p < 0.01), except for two samples with abnormally high Ca2+ levels. The results of stable isotope analysis and Cl/Br ratios suggested that the lake experienced strong evaporation, which is consistent with the high TDS values. Evaporative concentration is suggested as the main factor contributing to the elevated As and F concentrations in the lake water. In addition, the major ions (e.g., Na+, Cl-, HCO3-, and OH-) and pH in the lake water increased during evaporation, leading to desorption of As and F. Thus, the evaporation process, including evaporative concentration and desorption, was considered primarily responsible for the elevated As and F in the lake water. Based on the results of this study, we presume that the paleolakes in the study area have experienced intense evaporation process. As a result, As, F, and major elements accumulated in sediments (or residual lake water) and were buried in the fluvial basins; then, they were released into the groundwater through multiple (bio)hydrogeochemical processes. By combining the results of this study with those obtained from previous groundwater analyses, we propose a new hypothesis explaining the origin of elevated As and F concentrations in saline groundwater in arid and semi-arid regions.

Abstract
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a comprehensive and individualized intervention for patients suffering from respiratory dysfunction due to various diseases. This approach has been highly valued and implemented by clinical medical professionals. However, the lack of equipment and real-time monitoring of ventilatory lung function during pulmonary rehabilitation treatment is a challenge. In addition, there is a need for improved methods that can directly guide physiotherapists to provide precise treatment. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a novel medical imaging technology that allows real-time monitoring of lung ventilation status. It is currently being translated from basic research into clinical applications and is widely used in respiratory disease, particularly in critical care respiratory management. However, there is a lack of reports on pulmonary rehabilitation guidance and outcome evaluation. This article aimed to provide a comprehensive review of this field, with the aim of generating more ideas for clinical research and further improving individualized treatment in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation.

Abstract
Atmospheric particulate matter (PM) enriched with lead (Pb) has severe irreversible effects on human health. Therefore, identifying the contribution of Pb emission sources is essential for protecting the health of residents. Using the Pb isotopic tracer method, this study explored the seasonal characteristics and primary anthropogenic Pb sources for atmospheric PM in Tianjin in 2019. We calculated the contribution of Pb sources using the end-member and MixSIAR models. The results showed that Pb loaded in PM10 was more abundant in January than in July, and was strongly influenced by meteorological conditions and anthropogenic emissions. The primary Pb sources of the aerosol samples originated from coal combustion and vehicle and steel plant emissions, mainly originating from local Pb emission sources in Tianjin. The PM10-bond Pb in January was influenced by regional transportation and local sources. The MixSIAS model calculated the contribution of coal combustion as approximately 50 %. Compared with that in January, the contribution of coal combustion decreased by 9.6 % in July. Our results indicate that some of the benefits of phased-out leaded gasoline have been short-lived, whereas other industrial activities releasing Pb have increased. Furthermore, the results emphasise the practicability of the Pb isotope tracer source approach for identifying and distinguishing between different anthropogenic Pb inputs. Based on this study, scientific and effective air pollution prevention and control programs can be formulated to provide decision support for the guidance and control of air pollutant emissions.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of plasma methylated SEPT9 (mSEPT9) gene in patients with primary liver cancer. Methods: 393 cases who visited our hospital from May 2016 to October 2018 were selected. Among them, 75 cases were in the primary liver cancer (PLC) group, 50 cases were in the liver cirrhosis (LC) group, and 268 cases were in the healthy control group (HC). The three groups' positive rates of mSEPT9 expression in the peripheral plasma were detected by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) fluorescent probe method. The correlational clinical features of liver cancer were analyzed. At the same time, the electrochemiluminescence detection method was used to compare the AFP positive rate. Statistical analysis was conducted using chi-square tests or continuity-corrected chi-square tests. Results: 367 cases actually had valid samples. There were 64, 42, and 64 cases in the liver cancer group, cirrhosis group, and healthy control group, respectively. Among them, 34 cases of liver cancer were verified from pathological tissues. The positive rate of plasma mSEPT9 was significantly higher in the liver cancer group than that in the liver cirrhosis and healthy control groups [76.6% (49/64), 35.7% (15/42), and 3.8% (10/261), respectively], and the differences were statistically significant (χ (2) = 176.017, P < 0.001). The sensitivity of plasma mSEPT9 detection (76.6%) was significantly better in liver cancer (76.6%) than that of AFP patients (54.7%), and the difference was statistically significant (χ (2) = 6.788, P < 0.01). Compared with the single detection, the sensitivity and specificity of plasma mSEPT9 combined with AFP were significantly improved (89.7% vs. 96.3%, respectively). Patients with liver cancer aged≥50 years, with clinical stage II or above, and those with pathological signs of moderate to low differentiation had higher levels of plasma mSEPT9 positive expression, and the differences were statistically significant (χ (2) = 6.41, 9.279, 6.332, P < 0.05). During the follow-up period, the survival time of liver cancer patients with positive plasma mSEPT9 expression was significantly shorter than that of those with negative expression (310 ± 26 days vs. 487 ± 59 days, respectively), with statistically significant differences (Log Rank P = 0.039). Conclusion: In China, the positive rate of plasma mSEPT9 detection in liver cancer patients is higher than that of AFP in relation to age, clinical stage, and degree of tissue differentiation; additionally, it has certain survival predictive values. As a result, detecting this gene has important clinical significance and potential clinical application value in the non-invasive diagnosis and prognosis assessment of patients with primary liver cancer.

Abstract
Dissolved heavy metals (DHMs) contamination has raised global concern for ecological and human health development. Weathering of sulfide-bearing ore metals can produce acidic, sulfate-rich solutions in the presence of water and oxygen (O2), and DHMs are released to deprave the river water quality. Sulfur and oxygen isotope signatures (δ34SSO4 and δ18OSO4) could identify this pyrite-derived sulfate; however, it is yet not well known whether the δ34SSO4 and δ18OSO4 values could limit the DHMs sources and illustrate anthropogenic impacts on DHMs along the river corridor. We tried to solve this problem through field works in the Luohe River and Yihe River, two tributaries of the Yellow River, China, where metal sulfide mine activities mostly occurred upstream, but agricultural and domestic behaviors concentrated in the lower plain reaches. In the Luohe River upper areas, δ34SSO4 values had negative correlations with concentrations of cadmium (Cd) (p < 0.01), nickel (Ni) (p < 0.05), molybdenum (Mo) (p < 0.01), uranium (U) (p < 0.01), and SO42- (p < 0.01). However, as the δ34SSO4 values increased downstream in the Luohe River, concentrations of copper (Cu) (p < 0.05), mercury (Hg) (p < 0.05), Ni (p < 0.05), and SO42- (p < 0.01) simultaneously elevated. The Bayesian Isotope Mixing Model (BIMM) results via δ34SSO4 values demonstrated 64.3%-65.3% of SO42- from acid mine drainage (AMD) in the Luohe River's upper reaches and 63.5%-67.7% in the Yihe River's upper reaches, and about 33% from sewage and industrial effluents in the Luohe River's lower reaches and 27% in Yihe River's lower reaches. Our results confirmed the different anthropogenic impacts on the DHMs concentrations in Luohe River and Yihe River and provided a robust method for DHMs sources appointment and pollution management in river systems.

Abstract
Pyrite oxidation and sedimentary sulfate dissolution are the primary components of riverine sulfate (SO42-) and are predominant in global SO42- flux into the ocean. However, the proportions of anthropogenic SO42- inputs have been unclear, and their tempo-spatial variations due to human activities have been unknown. Thus, field work was conducted in a spatially heterogeneous human-affected area of the Yihe River Basin (YRB) during a wet year (2010) and drought years (2017/2018). Dual sulfate isotopes (δ34S-SO42- and δ18O-SO42-) and Bayesian isotope mixing models were used to calculate the variable anthropogenic SO42- inputs and elucidate their temporal impacts on riverine SO42- flux. The results of the mixing models indicated acid mine drainage (AMD) contributions increased from 56.1% to 83.1% of upstream sulfate and slightly decreased from 46.3% to 44.0% of midstream sulfate in 2010 and 2017/2018, respectively, in the Yihe River Basin. The higher upstream contribution was due to extensive metal-sulfide-bearing mine drainage. Sewage-derived SO42- and fertilizer-derived SO42- inputs in the lower reaches had dramatically altered SO42- concentrations and δ34S-SO42- and δ18O-SO42- values. Due to climate change, the water flow discharge decreased by about 70% between 2010 and 2017/2018, but the riverine sulfate flux was reduced by only about 58%. The non-proportional increases in anthropogenic sulfate inputs led to decreases in the flow-weighted average values of δ34S-SO42- and δ18O-SO42- from 10.3‰ to 9.9‰ and from 6.1‰ to 4.4‰, respectively. These outcomes confirm that anthropogenic SO42- inputs from acid mine drainage (AMD) have increased, but sewage effluents SO42- inputs have decreased.

Abstract
Coking plants are a substantial source of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in soil. In this study, we examined the concentration of PTEs, the soil physicochemical properties, and the Pb isotopes in the soil inside and around a coking plant in an industrial city in northern China. We analyzed the spatial distribution of PTEs and the pollution risk areas by Igeo index, the enrichment factor (EF), and the Nemerow index, and we quantitatively identified the contribution of PTE pollution sources in the soil on a small- and medium-scale (plant and work section). Our results indicated that the Hg concentration inside the plant and the Cd concentration in the agricultural land around the plant were both relatively high. A comprehensive analysis of the soil in the study area was performed using the positive matrix factorization model and Pb isotope (206/207Pb, 208/206Pb) tracing method, based on the MixSIAR model, this analysis indicated that burning coal was the main source of Pb both inside (46.8%) and outside (26.3%) the coking plant. The pollution emission sources with significant influence on the soil outside the coking plant were diesel vehicles (12.5%), gas tanks (12.4%), and coke ovens (11.5%), while the sources inside the plant were quenching sections (11.1%), atmospheric deposition (11.0%), coke oven sections (9.6%), and diesel vehicles (6.1%). The results of PTE pollution risk zoning and Pb isotope tracing indicated that pollution is more serious in the western part of the plant, which is the area where coking and gas production takes place, and the most serious pollution outside the plant is mainly distributed to the southeast. This study provides theoretical and practical data indicating the contribution of industrial enterprises to soil pollution, and will help identify pollution responsibility and the management of pollution sources.

Abstract
Sulfur (S) dynamics in soils formed from granite remain poorly understood despite its importance as an essential plant macronutrient and component of soil organic matter. We used stable S isotope ratios to trace the sources and biogeochemical processes of S in four forest soil profiles developed on granite under contrasting climate conditions. The soil S is derived mainly from decomposing litter; no significant geogenic contribution to its content is noted as a result of the low S concentration of the granite (~ 5 μg/g). Colder/drier climate results in high organic S retention at the surface due to weak mineralization of organic S. Although warmer/wetter climate increases the S mineralization and leaching loss, SO42- adsorption is an important S retention process in the subsurface. The vertical distribution of S isotope compositions in the soil profiles across the four sites indicates (i) a downward increase in δ34S values in the upper profiles due to continuous mineralization of organic S with an occasional decrease in δ34S values in the subsurface due to dissimilatory sulfate reduction (DSR), (ii) constantly high δ34S values in the middle profiles due to the low water permeability, and (iii) a downward decrease in δ34S values in the low profiles due to increased contribution of bedrock with depth. Regardless of the variation in soil depth and climate, the total S concentration is proportional to the pedogenic Fe/Al minerals, suggesting the important role of secondary Fe/Al minerals in retaining S in soils. This study provides an integration and synthesis of controls of climatic and edaphic variables on S dynamics in forest soil profiles developed on granite.

Abstract
Abstract Synthetic cathinones are a class of new psychoactive substances with a structure similar to amphetamine drugs, which can produce excitatory effects similar to drugs such as amphetamine and cocaine after being taken. In recent years, the abuse of synthetic cathinones worldwide has become increasingly serious, posing a serious threat to social security and public health. This article focuses on several common synthetic cathinones, collects their research results in animal autonomous activity experiments and drug dependence model experiments and summarizes their relevant experimental conclusions in animal body temperature regulation, learning and memory, and anxiety, in order to provide data reference and method guidance for the domestic development of related drug research.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the causes,prevention and treatment of femoral artery puncture related complications caused by the application of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) in the resection of pelvic and sacral tumors. Methods: Clinical data of 23 patients with femoral artery puncture related complications who received REBOA in the resection of pelvic and sacral tumors from August 2010 to August 2018 at the Musculoskeletal Tumor Center,Peking University People's Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.There were 8 males and 15 females,with the an age of (37.0±16.2) years (range:15 to 65 years).Arterial access via the Seldinger technique for REBOA was obtained in the right common femoral artery of 18 cases,and in the left of 6 cases.An arterial sheath with a diameter of 11 to 12 F(1 F≈0.33 mm) was used for the patient.The occurrence and treatment of postoperative complications were analyzed. Results: Acute femoral arterial thrombosis occurred in 18 patients,which was managed by open repair 48 hours postoperatively.Among the 349 patients admitted before 2015 who received hemostasis by compression after femoral artery sheath removal,12 patients (3.4%) developed acute femoral artery thrombosis.While the 476 patients admitted after 2015 who used a vascular stapler to close the femoral artery wound,6 patients (1.3%) developed acute femoral artery thrombosis.One case of retroperitoneal hematoma and 1 case of femoral pseudoaneurysm were found and surgically fixed.Postoperative follow-up was (40±18) months (range:13 to 108 months).Three cases with chronic lower extremity ischemia were confirmed by Doppler ultrasonography during 1 to 5 years follow-up.Two of them had minimal symptoms and denied further treatment,while the other one received femoral-femoral artery bypass surgery to restore distal flow for pain and numbness relief. Conclusions: Acute femoral arterial thrombosis was the most common femoral artery puncture.Technique refinement of REBOA,the use of percutaneous suture device and close follow-up can reduce the approach-specific complications,and help to detect and treat the complications timely,which may popularize the clinical application of REBOA.

Abstract
Bedside hypertonic saline-contrast electrical impedance tomography (EIT) method for lung perfusion evaluation has several advantages of bedside, simple, noninvasive and radiation-free. For a long time, EIT perfusion image of hypertonic saline was mostly limited to animal experiments, and related clinical research is in the ascendant. This technical specification for clinical application is reached based on our previous researches, review of literatures in this field. The purpose of this technical specification is to facilitate the unified and standardized use of hypertonic saline-contrast EIT technology for regional lung perfusion, to evaluate the safety and quality control of the technology, and to unify the results.

Abstract
High levels of dissolved arsenic (As) have been reported in many rivers running though the Tibetan Plateau (TP), the "Water Tower of Asia". However, the source, spatiotemporal variations, and geochemical behavior of dissolved As in these rivers remain poorly understood. In this study, hot spring, river water, and suspended particulate material samples collected from the Yarlung Tsangpo River (YTR) (upper reaches of the Brahmaputra River) system in 2017 and 2018 were analyzed. Spatial results shown that the upper reaches of YTR (Zone I) have comparatively high levels of dissolved As ([As]dissolved: mean 31.7 μg/L; 4.7-81.6 μg/L; n = 16), while the tributaries of the lower reaches (Zone II) have relatively low levels (mean 0.54 μg/L; 0.11-1.3 μg/L; n = 7). Seasonal results shown that the high [As]dissolved (6.1-22.4 μg/L) were found in September to June and low [As]dissolved (1.4-3.7 μg/L) were observed in July to August. Geothermal water is suspected as the main source of the elevated As levels in YTR due to the extremely high [As]dissolved in hot springs (1.13-9.76 mg/L) and abundance of geothermal systems throughout TP. However, the seasonal results suggested that weathering of As-containing rocks and minerals is also a key factor affecting the [As]dissolved in the river water in July to August (wet-season). Natural attenuation of As in main channel is dominated by dilution process due to the lower As concentrations in tributaries, but mostly occurred by both dilution and adsorption (or co-precipitation) processes in tributaries. This work highlights that the weathering process may have an important contribution to the dissolved As in the river waters in wet-season, and the geochemical behavior of As is largely transported conservatively in the main channel and relative non-conservatively in the tributaries in YTR system.

Abstract
Painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN) is a diabetes mellitus complication. Unfortunately, the mechanisms underlying PDN are still poorly understood. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-gated P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) plays a pivotal role in non-diabetic neuropathic pain, but little is known about its effects on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced peripheral neuropathy. Here, we explored whether spinal cord P2X7R was correlated with the generation of mechanical allodynia (MA) in STZ-induced type 1 diabetic neuropathy in mice. MA was assessed by measuring paw withdrawal thresholds and western blotting. Immunohistochemistry was applied to analyze the protein expression levels and localization of P2X7R. STZ-induced mice expressed increased P2X7R in the dorsal horn of the lumbar spinal cord during MA. Mice injected intrathecally with a selective antagonist of P2X7R and P2X7R knockout (KO) mice both presented attenuated progression of MA. Double-immunofluorescent labeling demonstrated that P2X7R-positive cells were mostly co-expressed with Iba1 (a microglia marker). Our results suggest that P2X7R plays an important role in the development of MA and could be used as a cellular target for treating PDN.

Aims
The possibility of endovascular reconstruction of aortic valve, sinus of Valsalva, and ascending aorta by a minimal-invasive single endograft has not been proven in vivo. Combining our own long-term experiences from transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and Thoracic Endovascular Repair (TEVAR) for ascending and arch dissection, we designed the special endo-graft: a novel one-piece valved-fenestrated-bifurcated endografting, and tried to endovascularly reconstruct the area from Left ventricular outflow tract to aortic arch in animal experiments.
Methods and results
For 20 healthy adult female pigs weighed between 62.3±2.2 kilograms, we did aortic compute tomography angiography (CTA) examinations and measured morphologic parameters of aortic root. Then we accordingly customized the valved-fenestrated-bifurcated endograft. The endograft was delivered through transapical access and endovascularly reconstructed the segment from aortic valve to proximal part of aortic arch. The overall technical success rate was 95% because of one case of delivery system failure. Instant transesophageal echography (TEE) and aortic CTA confirmed ideal position of the endograft, satisfactory function of aortic valve, and the patency of coronary arteries in all subjects. During follow-up, 12 subjects were sacrificed according to the plan and seven were followed up for 8.1±3.6 months. There was one unplanned death of cardiac infection (unplanned mortality: 5.3%). Follow-up re-examinations (aortic CTA, cardiac ultrasound, and electrocardiogram) found no adverse events. Among 12 sacrificed subjects, there was no evidence of fenestrations alignment lost and no myocardial ischemia according to the pathological analysis.
Conclusion
The novel one-piece valved-fenestrated-bifurcated endografting might be feasible for minimal-invasive reconstruction of aortic root in animal models, thus provided a prospect to simultaneously treat pathologies involving aortic valve and aortic root in endovascular way.

Abstract
Objective:The purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of tetanus stimulation in tinnitus treatment and the correlation between the mainstream questionnaires of tinnitus and tinnitus-matching in order to find a more convenient and accurate method for tinnitus evaluation. Method:Ten patients with chronic tinnitus and normal or mild hearing impairment were enrolled in this study, totaling 13 ears. Their age ranged from 23 to 53 years old. The stimulus sound(white noise, frequency modulation 14.1 Hz, repetitive amplitude modulation, duty cycle 0.5) was selected and the sound intensity was 50 dB SL. Experimental procedure: (4 minutes sound stimulation+4 minutes rest) ×4 times, totaling 32 minutes. The patients were treated three times a week for 5 weeks. The loudness of tinnitus was matched before and after each treatment, and tinnitus handicap inventory(THI), tinnitus handicap questionnaire(THQ) and visual analog scales(VAS) were also used for assessment before the first treatment each week. The loudness matching and the above scales were performed once more at follow-up for one week after end-of-treatment. Result:①Single treatment: the matched loudness value decreased by 1.000(0.000, 3.000) dB(Z=7.553, P<0.01) after each single treatment. ②After five weeks' treatment: the matched loudness value decreased(9.692±8.038) dB(t=4.348, P<0.01); VAS value decreased by 2.000(1.000, 3.000)(Z=2.890, P<0.01); total score of THQ decreased(7.389%±8.847%)(t=2.641, P<0.05). ③Correlation analysis: there was positive correlation between total scores of THI and THQ(r=0.747, P<0.01); the matched loudness values have positive correlation with VAS value(r=0.593, P<0.01), THI-F(r=0.346, P<0.01) and THQ-factor 3 score(r=0.294, P<0.05); there was positive correlation between the VAS value and THI-F(r=0.326, P<0.05), the total score of THI(r=0.466, P<0.01), THQ-factor 3 score(r=0.291, P<0.05), the total score of THQ(r=0.497, P<0.01). Conclusion:The loudness of tinnitus declined with significant fluctuation during tetanus sound therapy. THQ scale is recommended as a sensitive indicator for evaluating the efficacy of tinnitus treatment; VAS is recommended for rapid assessment of tinnitus. Tetanus stimulation is expected to become an important direction in tinnitus sound therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze the forensic characteristics of 24 psychiatric patients who died of long-term use of psychotropic drugs. METHODS Cases of sudden death of psychiatric patients from 2011 to 2016 were collected. The forensic characteristics of these sudden deaths were retrospectively analyzed by systematic investigation plus results of autopsy and toxics (drugs). RESULTS Among the 24 psychiatric patients who died of long-term use of psychotropic substances, the ratio of male to female was 1.7∶1, and the average age was (59.0±8.8) years. Fifteen patients had clear disease durations (14.4±8.2) years, and other the nine were known to have disease durations of over 3 years. The death time of 62.5% of patients was the daytime in working days, and 91.7% of the patients died at home. Most patients complained different degrees of physical discomfort before death. Patients with schizophrenia (20 cases) were the most common, followed by depression (4 cases). All patients had the history of taking psychotropic drugs, with clozapine and chlorpromazine being the mostly detected ones. The causes of death were mainly circulatory diseases (15 cases), with the most common being myocarditis (11 cases) followed by pneumonia (4 cases). CONCLUSIONS Critical attention should be paid to the risk of antipsychotics-induced sudden unexpected deaths for psychiatric patients, particularly for those with schizophrenia.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the prognosis and complications after reduction of monochorionic multifetal pregnancies using bipolar umbilical cord coagulation (BCC) or radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Methods: A literature search were performed by using online databases including PubMed, Embase, and COCHRANE.The publications that described prognosis and complications after selective reduction of monochorionic twin pregnancies using either BCC or RFA for studies with clear outcome data were identified. Results: We identified five retrospective cohort studies for the meta-analysis and 231 cases of BCC and 174 cases of RFA.There was no statistical difference in overall survival after reduction between BCC group (79.2%) and RFA groups (76.4%) (RR=0.96; 95%CI: 0.86~1.08; P=0.48). Neonatal mortality was similar in both groups (8.2% vs 11.1%, respectively; RR=1.34; 95%CI: 0.60~2.99; P=0.48). However, intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) in the RFA group was 13.6%, and it significantly higher than that in the BCC group 7.7% (RR=2.15; 95%CI: 1.10~4.21; P=0.03). In contrast, after reduction, those in the RFA group had less preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) compared with the BCC group (17.1% vs 27.5%, RR=0.58; 95%CI: 0.39~0.86; P=0.007). Conclusions: RFA and BCC groups have similar overall survival for complicated monochromic multiple pregnancies, but RFA was more prone to IUFD, and BCC tended to have more PPROM.Thus, procedures should be chosen according to specific clinical situations and pregnancy conditions.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the advantage of radiofrequency catheter ablation under the three-dimensional mapping in the treatment of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) in reducing the X-ray exposure dose of interventional doctors. Methods: 79 patients with AVNRT, in the first hospital of Shanxi Medical University from January 2015 to June 2016, performed to do radiofrequency catheter ablation treatment were selected, and according to the random number method were divided into two-dimensional mapping group and three-dimensional mapping group. The two-dimensional mapping group was mapped the ablation target at the X-ray, while the ablation target was mapped by CARTO 3 system in the three-dimensional mapping group. Compare the X-ray fluoroscopy time, success rate, complications rate and doctor's X-ray exposure dose between the two groups. Results: Compared with the two-dimensional mapping group, acute success rate and complication rate of the three dimensional mapping group were not statistically significant (P>0.05) , while the X-ray fluoroscopy time and the X-ray dose of the three-dimensional mapping group decreased significantly, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) . Conclusion: Three-dimensional mapping can significantly reduce the X-ray irradiation time and interventional doctor's X-ray exposure dose in radiofrequency catheter ablation of AVNRT patients and the potential hazards of ionizing radiation on the human body.

Abstract
Computed Tomography (CT) is a powerful method for non-destructive testing (NDT) and metrology awakes with expanding application fields. To improve the spatial resolution of high energy CT, a micro-spot gamma-ray source based on bremsstrahlung from a laser wakefield accelerator was developed. A high energy CT using the source was performed, which shows that the resolution of reconstruction can reach 100 μm at 10% contrast. Our proof-of-principle demonstration indicates that laser driven micro-spot gamma-ray sources provide a prospective way to increase the spatial resolution and toward to high energy micro CT. Due to the advantage in spatial resolution, laser based high energy CT represents a large potential for many NDT applications.

Abstract
Post-incision pain often occurs after surgery and is emergent to be treated in clinic. It hinders the rehabilitation of patients and easily leads to various types of postoperative complications. Acupuncture-combined anesthesia (ACA) is the combination of traditional acupuncture and modern anesthesia, which means acupuncture is applied at acupoints with general anesthesia. It was testified that ACA strengthened the analgesic effect and reduced the occurrence of postoperative pain, but its mechanism was not clear. Numerous reports have shown that chemokine receptor CX3CR1 is involved in the development and progression of many pathological pains. The present study was aimed to reveal whether ACA played the analgesic roles in the post-incision pain by affecting CX3CR1. A model of toe incision pain was established in C57BL/6J mice. The pain threshold was detected by behavioral test, and the expression of CX3CR1 protein was detected by immunohistochemical method and Western blot. The results showed that the significant mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia were induced by paw incision in the mice. Mechanical allodynia was significantly suppressed by ACA, but thermal hyperalgesia was not changed. CX3CR1 was mainly expressed in microglia in the spinal cord dorsal horn, and its protein level was significantly increased at 3 d after incision compared with that of naïve C57BL/6J mice. ACA did not affect CX3CR1 protein expression at 3 d after incision in the toe incision model mice. Paw withdrawal threshold was significantly increased at 3 d after incision in CX3CR1 knockout (KO) mice compared with that in the C57BL/6J mice. But the analgesic effect of ACA was disappeared in CX3CR1 KO mice. Accordingly, it was also blocked when neutralizing antibody of CX3CR1 was intrathecally injected (i.t.) 1 h before ACA in the C57BL/6J mice. These results suggest that CX3CR1 in microglia is involved in post-incision pain and analgesia of ACA.

Abstract
Objective: To establish the immortalized mouse brain microvascular pericytes model and to apply to the cerebrovascular toxicants screening study. Methods: Brain pericytes were isolated from 3 weeks of mice by tissue digestion. Immortalized pericyte cell line was constructed by infecting with LT retrovirus. Monoclone was selected to purify the immortalized pericyte cell line. The pericyte characteristics and purity were explored by immunocytochemistry. Cell proliferation was measured by using the Pomega MTS cell Proliferation Colorimetric Assay Kit. Pericytes were treated with 0, 160, 320, 640, 1 280, 2 560 μmol/L lead acetate, 0, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 μmol/L cadmium chloride and 0, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 μmol/L sodium arsenite in 24 hours. Cell toxicity of each group was determined by MTS assay, median lethal dose (LD(50)) was calculated in linear regression. Results: Mouse brain pericytes were successfully isolated by tissue separation and enzyme digestion method. After immortalized by LT retroviruses, monoclone was selected and expanded to establish pericyte cell line. The brain pericytes exhibited typical long spindle morphology and positive staining for α-SMA and Vimentin. The proliferation of brain pericytes cell lines was very slowly, and the doubling time was about 48 hours. The proliferation of immortalized brain pericytes cell lines was very quickly, and the doubling time was about 24 hours. After lead acetate, cadmium chloride and sodium arsenite treatment for 24 hours respectively, gradual declines in cell viability were observed. The LD(50) of lead acetate was 2 025.0 μmol/L, the LD(50) of cadmium chloride was 36.6 μmol/L, and the LD(50) of sodium arsenite was 33.2 μmol/L. Conclusion: The immortalized mouse brain microvascular pericyte model is established successfully by infecting with LT retrovirus, and can be applied to screen cerebrovascular toxicants. The toxicity of these toxicants to immortalized mouse brain microvascular pericyte is in sequence: sodium arsenite,cadmium chloride, lead acetate.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To study the relationship between myofibril fragmentation index (MFI) of human skeletal muscle and postmortem interval (PMI). METHODS The protein concentrations of human right biceps brachii muscle and right quadriceps femoris muscle were obtained at different PMI, and detected at room temperature by biuret method. The MFI of skeletal muscle at 540 nm was measured by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Regression analysis was performed with time of death as independent variable (x) and MFI as dependent variable (y). RESULTS In early PMI, the MFI of human skeletal muscle increased obviously according to the prolongation of PMI, and peaking by 12 h and then tended to steady. Within 12 h after death, the regression equations of right biceps brachii muscle and right quadriceps femoris muscle were y=32.660+3.227 x(r=0.987 9) and y=32.380+3.495 x(r=0.983 9), respectively. CONCLUSIONS There's high correlation between MFI and PMI. Combining with forensic practice, MFI can be used for the estimation of early PMI (especially in 12 h).

Abstract
Neurofeedback therapy is a fast-growing field of tinnitus treatment, which is a new type of biofeedback therapy. In the past, the "muscle tone" and "blood flow" were used as feedback signals in biofeedback therapy to treat tinnitus, however there was no long-term follow-up report. Instead, neurofeedback therapy utilizes EEG (electroencephalogram) as the feedback signal, which is also called EEG biofeedback therapy. At present, most treatments of tinnitus only record subjective measures of patients as evaluation indicators, whereas neurofeedback therapy is more convincing for using comprehensive evaluation including changes of brain wave as objective indicators and subjective measures of patients. A significant number of tinnitus patients have varying degree of hearing loss. As neurofeedback therapy takes advantage of EEG as feedback signal that is delivered to the patients through visual information, it has unique advantages of being not affected by the degree of hearing loss compared to the sound masking or other sound treatment. Long-term follow-up results showed that the efficacy of neurofeedback therapy was stable after half a year of short-term treatment. This paper summarizes the progress of the various types of biofeedback therapy in the treatment of tinnitus, and focuses on the neurofeedback therapy for the mechanism, indication, process, efficacy evaluation, defect and prospect of neurofeedback therapy in tinnitus treatment in order to help promote the development of domestic clinical neurofeedback therapy in tinnitus.

Abstract
The Hai River Basin (HRB), one of the most populated areas in China, is experiencing high NH3 emissions, mostly from agricultural sources, and suffering from strongly enhanced PM2.5 concentrations in all urban areas. Further population growth and urbanization projected until 2030 may exacerbate this situation. Here, the NUFER (NUtrient flows in Food chains, Environment and Resources use) and GAINS (Greenhouse gas - Air pollution Interactions and Synergies) models have been coupled for the first time to understand possible changes of agricultural NH3 emission between 2012 and 2030 and their impacts on ambient PM2.5 concentrations, and to explore options to improve this situation. Results show that agricultural ammonia emissions in the HRB were 1179kt NH3 in 2012, 45% of which was from the hotspots at or near conurbation areas, including Beijing-Tianjin, Tangshan-Qinhuangdao, Shijiazhuang-Baoding, Dezhou, Handan-Liaocheng, and Xinxiang. Without intervention, agricultural ammonia emissions will further increase by 33% by 2030. The impacts of several scenarios were tested with respect to air pollution. Compared to the business-as-usual scenario, a scenario of improved technology and management combined with human diet optimization could greatly reduce emission (by 60%), and lead to 22-43% and 9-24% decrease of the secondary inorganic aerosols and PM2.5 concentrations, respectively, in the hotspots of NH3 emissions. Our results further confirmed that ammonia control is needed for air pollution abatement strategies (SO2, NOx and primary PM reduction) to be effective in terms of PM2.5.

Abstract
A heavy load of nitrogenous compounds reflects nutrient loss and influences water quality in large rivers. Nitrogenous concentrations and dual isotopes of nitrate were measured to ascertain the spatial and temporal distributions of nitrate transformation in the Yellow River, the second-longest river in China. Assessment of the long-term record indicates that [NO3--N] has increased by two-fold over the past three decades. Weekly observation of ammonium over a twelve-year period revealed high concentrations and suggests impairment of water quality, particularly since 2011. The estimated total dissolved nitrogen flux was 7.2 times higher in middle reaches than that at head waters. Anthropogenic nitrogen sources become more important in lower section of the upper reaches and middle reaches because of intensive agricultural activities and urban input. Nitrate in the lower reaches was mainly derived from transportation of upstream nitrate and point sources from cities. The spatial variation of ammonium and nitrate isotopes show that nitrification is a key process governing nitrogen transformation. Riverine biological processes could potentially be responsible for the shift of nitrate isotope signature. The first step to reducing nitrogen load and improving water quality will be containment and careful management of sources from urban input, sewage waste and irrigation runoff.

Abstract
Objective: To study the prognostic factors of delayed gastric emptying(DGE) after pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) and construct a prognostic predictive model for clinical application. Methods: Clinic data of 401 consecutive patients who underwent PD between January 2012 and July 2016 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The patients were randomly selected to modeling group(n=299) and validation group(n=102) at a ratio of 3∶1. The data of modeling group were subjected to univariate and multivariate analysis for prognostic factors and to construct a prognostic predictive model of DGE after PD. The data of validation group were applied to test the prognostic predictive model. Results: DGE after PD occurred in 35 of 299 patients(11.7%) in the modeling group. The multivariate analysis of the modeling group showed that upper abdominal operation history(χ(2)=6.533, P=0.011), diabetes mellitus(χ(2)=17.872, P=0.000), preoperative hemoglobin <90 g/L(χ(2)=14.608, P=0.000) and pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy(PPPD)(χ(2)=8.811, P=0.003) were associated with DGE after PD independently. A prognostic predictive model of DGE after PD was constructed based on these factors and successfully tested. The area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was 0.761(95%CI: 0.666-0.856) of the modeling group and 0.750(95% CI: 0.577-0.923) of the validation group. Conclusions: Upper abdominal operation history, diabetes mellitus, preoperative hemoglobin<90 g/L and PPPD are associated with DGE after PD independently. The preoperative assessment of a patient's prognostic for DGE after PD is feasible. The model is a valid tool to take precautions against DGE after PD.

Abstract
DH07 is a DH line of Class I S-haplotype in broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica), in which stigmas of flowers show self-incompatibility (SI) and stigmas of buds show self-compatibility (SC). The molecular mechanisms that lead to stigmas at different developmental stages having different responses to self-pollination are yet unknown. In the present study, comparative transcriptome profiling of the stigmas of flowers and buds before and after self-pollination was performed by RNA-sequencing using an Illumina HiSeqTM 2000. A total of 80,102,897 reads were generated for further analysis in four libraries. Comparisons of the transcriptome profiles before and after self-pollination revealed 579 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the stigmas of buds (SBs); of these, 431 DEGs showed increased and 148 DEGs showed decreased transcript abundance after self-pollination in SBs. There were a total of 686 DEGs between unpollinated stigmas of flowers (SFs) and pollinated SFs, among which, 517 DEGs were up regulated and 169 DEGs were down regulated. Following the self-pollination, 379 identified DEGs were common in both SBs and SFs. It was found that ARR7-like and oxysterol-binding family protein related DEGs could play key roles in SI or SC signal transduction. The results obtained in this study would form the foundation for further studies on investigating the molecular mechanisms of SI and SC in Brassica.

Abstract
Quantitative reverse-transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) is a versatile technique for the analysis of gene expression. The selection of stable reference genes is essential for the application of this technique. Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis) is a commonly consumed vegetable that is rich in vitamin, calcium, and iron. Thus far, to our knowledge, there have been no reports on the validation of suitable reference genes for the data normalization of qRT-PCR in cauliflower. In the present study, we analyzed 12 candidate housekeeping genes in cauliflower subjected to different abiotic stresses, hormone treatment conditions, and accessions. geNorm and NormFinder algorithms were used to assess the expression stability of these genes. ACT2 and TIP41 were selected as suitable reference genes across all experimental samples in this study. When different accessions were compared, ACT2 and UNK3 were found to be the most suitable reference genes. In the hormone and abiotic stress treatments, ACT2, TIP41, and UNK2 were the most stably expressed. Our study also provided guidelines for selecting the best reference genes under various experimental conditions.

Abstract
An animal model of steroid-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head (SANFH) was established to investigate the role of oxidative DNA damage of bone marrow hematopoietic cells in SANFH. Forty-five-month-old Japanese white rabbits (male or female, 2.5 ± 0.5 kg) were randomly divided into groups A (methylprednisolone + Escherichia coli endotoxin), B (methylprednisolone alone), C (E. coli endotoxin alone), and D (blank control). The animals were sacrificed two and four weeks after administration of the last dose (N = 5 each group and each time). Left and right femoral heads were fixed and decalcified. Empty lacunae were counted by hematoxylin and eosin staining and oxidative DNA damage of bone marrow hematopoietic cells was detected by immunohistochemistry. At week 2, the rate of oxidative DNA damage in bone marrow hematopoietic cells was significantly higher in group A than in groups B, C, and D (P < 0.01), while there was no significant difference between groups B, C, and D. At week 4, the rate of oxidative DNA damage in bone marrow hematopoietic cells was significantly higher in group A than in groups B, C, and D (P < 0.01), while there was no significant difference among groups B, C, and D. Thus, oxidative DNA damage of bone marrow hematopoietic cells appears to play an important role in SANFH.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the incidence of positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement, and the clinical features and prognosis of concurrent positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement "double-hit lymphoma" (DHL) in diffuse large B cell lymphoma. METHODS The positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement in 106 cases of DLBCL were analyzed using interphase fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) technique. The expression of myc and bcl-2 proteins was determined by immunohistochemistry. The relationship of positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement with clinical features, pathogenesis and prognosis for the patients was analyzed. SPSS 16.0 software was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS Among the 106 cases, there were 27 (25.5%) cases with positive t(14; 18) and 13 (12.3%) cases with myc gene rearrangement, and 7 cases (6.6%) of DLBCL with concurrent t(14; 18)-positive and myc gene rearrangement. A relationship was observed between positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement (P=0.019). The follow-up data showed that the 7 DHL patients were in age of 52-84 years, the International Prognostic Index (IPI) scores were 3 in two cases, 4 in four cases and 5 in one case, and the ECOG scores were 3 in all the 7 cases. Four patients had bone marrow involvement and were combined with leukemia. The survival time ranged from 0.5 to 6 months, with a median survival of 4 months. The univariate analysis showed that B symptom, Ann Arbor stage, ECOG score, LDH level, IPI score, immunophenotype, bcl-2 protein expression, myc protein expression, and myc gene rearrangement were all associated with poor prognosis (P<0.05 for all). The multivariate analysis using a COX proportional hazard model confirmed that ECOG score, bcl-2 protein expression, myc protein expression, myc gene rearrangement, and immunophenotype were independent prognostic factors affecting survival (P<0.05 for all), among them, the myc gene rearrangement was the strongest prognostic factor (OR=4.337, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS "Double-hit" DLBCL is rare and can be mainly identified only by molecular detection. Perhaps positive t(14; 18) and myc gene rearrangement play concurrent role in its "double-hit" pathogenesis. DHL are highly invasive, and most of DHL patients have poor prognosis. Further studies of larger case number are required to determine the pathologic features and the therapeutic strategy of this subgroup.

Abstract
Desmoglein 4 (DSG4) has an important role in the development of wool traits in domestic animals. The full-length DSG4 gene, which contains 3918 bp, a complete open-reading-frame, and encodes a 1040-amino acid protein, was amplified from Liaoning cashmere goat. The sequence was compared with that of DSG4 from other animals and the results show that the DSG4 coding region is consistent with interspecies conservation. Thirteen single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified in a highly variable region of DSG4, and one SNP (M-1, G>T) was significantly correlated with white and black coat color in goat. Haplotype distribution of the highly variable region of DSG4 was assessed in 179 individuals from seven goat breeds to investigate its association with coat color and its differentiation among populations. However, the lack of a signature result indicates DGS4 haplotypes related with the color of goat coat.

Abstract
DRA encodes the alpha chain of the DR heterodimer, is closely linked to DRB and is considered almost monomorphic in major histocompatibility complex region. In this study, we identified the exon 2 of DRA to evaluate the immunogenetic diversity of Chinese south indigenous goat. Two single nucleotide polymorphisms in an untranslated region and one synonymous substitution in coding region were identified. These data suggest that high immunodiversity in native Chinese population.

Abstract
The long-term potentiation (LTP) of spinal C-fiber-evoked field potentials is considered as a fundamental mechanism of central sensitization in the spinal cord. Accumulating evidence has showed the contribution of spinal microglia to spinal LTP and pathological pain. As a key signaling of neurons-microglia interactions, the involvement of CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling in pathological pain has also been investigated extensively. The present study examined whether CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling plays a role in spinal LTP. The results showed that 10-trains tetanic stimulation (100 Hz, 2s) of the sciatic nerve (TSS) produced a significant LTP of C-fiber-evoked field potentials lasting for over 3 h in the rat spinal dorsal horn. Blockade of CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling with an anti-CX3CR1 neutralizing antibody (CX3CR1 AB) markedly suppressed TSS-induced LTP. Exogenous CX3CL1 significantly potentiated 3-trains TSS-induced LTP in rats. Consistently, spinal LTP of C-fiber-evoked field potentials was also induced by TSS (100 Hz, 1s, 4 trains) in all C57BL/6 wild type (WT) mice. However, in CX3CR1-/- mice, TSS failed to induce LTP and behavioral hypersensitivity, confirming an essential role of CX3CR1 in spinal LTP induction. Furthermore, blockade of IL-18 or IL-23, the potential downstream factors of CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling, with IL-18 BP or anti-IL-23 neutralizing antibody (IL-23 AB), obviously suppressed spinal LTP in rats. These results suggest that CX3CL1/CX3CR1 signaling is involved in LTP of C-fiber-evoked field potentials in the rodent spinal dorsal horn.

Abstract
Background Systemically administered dexmedetomidine (DEX), a selective α2 adrenergic receptor (α2-AR) agonists, produces analgesia and sedation. Peripherally restricted α2-AR antagonist could block the analgesic effect of systemic DEX on neuropathic pain, with no effect on sedation, indicating peripheral analgesic effect of DEX. Tetrodotoxin-resistant (TTX-R) sodium channel Nav1.8 play important roles in the conduction of nociceptive sensation. Both α2-AR and Nav1.8 are found in small nociceptive DRG neurons. We, therefore, investigated the effects of DEX on the Nav1.8 currents in acutely dissociated small-diameter DRG neurons. Results Whole-cell patch-clamp recordings demonstrated that DEX concentration-dependently suppressed TTX-R Nav1.8 currents in small-diameter lumbar DRG neurons. DEX also shifted the steady-state inactivation curves of Nav1.8 in a hyperpolarizing direction and increased the threshold of action potential and decrease electrical and chemical stimuli-evoked firings in small-diameter DRG neurons. The α2-AR antagonist yohimbine or α2A-AR antagonist BRL44408 but not α2B-AR antagonist imiloxan blocked the inhibition of Nav1.8 currents by DEX. Immunohistochemistry results showed that Nav1.8 was predominantly expressed in peripherin-positive small-diameter DRG neurons, and some of them were α2A-AR-positive ones. Our electrophysiological recordings also demonstrated that DEX-induced inhibition of Nav1.8 currents was prevented by intracellular application of G-protein inhibitor GDPβ-s or Gi/o proteins inhibitor pertussis toxin (PTX), and bath application of adenylate cyclase (AC) activator forskolin or membrane-permeable cAMP analogue 8-Bromo-cAMP (8-Br-cAMP). PKA inhibitor Rp-cAMP could mimic DEX-induced inhibition of Nav1.8 currents. Conclusions We established a functional link between α2-AR and Nav1.8 in primary sensory neurons utilizing the Gi/o/AC/cAMP/PKA pathway, which probably mediating peripheral analgesia of DEX.

Abstract
The emotional components of pain are far less studied than the sensory components. Previous studies have indicated that the rostral anterior cingulate cortex (rACC) is implicated in the affective response to noxious stimuli. Activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in the spinal cord has been documented to play an important role in diverse kinds of pathological pain states. We used formalin-induced conditioned place aversion (F-CPA) in rats, an animal model believed to reflect the emotional response to pain, to investigate the involvement of p38 MAPK in the rACC after the induction of affective pain. Intraplantar formalin injection produced a significant activation of p38 MAPK, as well as mitogen-activated kinase kinase (MKK) 3 and MKK6, its upstream activators, in the bilateral rACC. p38 MAPK was elevated in both NeuN-positive neurons and Iba1-positive microglia in the rACC, but not GFAP-positive cells. Blocking p38 MAPK activation in the bilateral rACC using its specific inhibitor SB203580 or SB239063 dose-dependently suppressed the formation of F-CPA. Inhibiting p38 MAPK activation did not affect formalin-induced two-phase spontaneous nociceptive response and low intensity electric foot-shock induced CPA. The present study demonstrated that p38 MAPK signaling pathway in the rACC contributes to pain-related negative emotion. Thus, a new pharmacological strategy targeted at the p38 MAPK cascade may be useful in treating pain-related emotional disorders.

Abstract
Tetanic stimulation of the sciatic nerve (TSS) induces sciatic nerve injury and long-lasting pain hypersensitivity in rats, and spinal glial activation and proinflammatory cytokines releases are involved. In the present study, we showed that spinal interleukin (IL)-23 and its receptor, IL-23R, are crucial for the development of mechanical allodynia after TSS. In the spinal dorsal horn, both IL-23 and IL-23R are expressed in astrocytes, and this expression is substantially increased after TSS. Inhibition of IL-23 signaling attenuated TSS-induced allodynia and decreased the induction of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP, an astrocytic marker). Conversely, intrathecally delivered IL-23 induced a persistent allodynia. Similar to IL-23 signaling, an increase in IL-18 and its receptor, IL-18R, as well as CX3CL1 and its receptor, CX3CR1, was simultaneously observed in the spinal dorsal horn after TSS. Interestingly, IL-18 and CX3CR1 were exclusively expressed in microglia, while IL-18R was mainly localized in astrocytes. In contrast, CX3CL1 was predominately expressed in neurons and secondarily in astrocytes. The functional inhibition of CX3CL1 and IL-18 signaling attenuated TSS-induced allodynia and suppressed IL-23 and IL-23R upregulation. Activation of CX3CR1 and IL-18R induced similar behavioral and biochemical changes to those observed after TSS. These results indicate that the interaction among CX3CL1, IL-18 and IL-23 signaling in the spinal cord plays a critical role in the development of allodynia. Thus, interrupting this chemokine-cytokine network might provide a novel therapeutic strategy for neuropathic pain.

Abstract
Previous studies have shown that spinal Homer 1b/c plays an important role in the maintenance of chronic inflammatory pain induced by complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA). This study investigated the possible mechanism underlying Homer 1b/c mediating CFA-induced inflammatory pain. Chronic inflammation was induced by CFA injection into the left hind ankle of the rat. Homer 1b/c antisense or missense oligonucleotides were administered intrathecally (10μg/10μl) from 5 to 8 days following the onset of inflammation. Immunohistochemistry was conducted to detect the expression of phosphorylated cAMP response element binding protein (pCREB) and Fos protein in the spinal dorsal horn. Intrathecal administration of Homer 1b/c antisense oligonucleotides not only markedly reduced the expression of Homer 1b/c protein, but also attenuated CFA-induced inflammation, spinal CREB phosphorylation, and Fos expression. These results demonstrate for the first time that Homer 1b/c regulates CREB phosphorylation and c-fos activation in the spinal dorsal horn during the maintenance of chronic inflammatory pain, suggesting that Homer 1b/c may be involved in the development of CFA-induced inflammation.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The glial function in morphine tolerance has been explored, but its mechanisms remain unclear. Our previous study has showed that microglia-expressed P2X7 receptors (P2X7R) contribute to the induction of tolerance to morphine analgesia in rats. This study further explored the potential downstream mechanisms of P2X7R underlying morphine tolerance. The results revealed that the blockade of P2X7 receptor by P2X7R antagonist or targeting small interfering RNA (siRNA) reduced tolerance to morphine analgesia in the pain behavioral test and spinal extracellular recordings in vivo and whole-cell recording of the spinal cord slice in vitro. Chronic morphine treatment induced an increase in the expression of interleukin (IL)-18 by microglia, IL-18 receptor (IL-18R) by astrocytes, and protein kinase Cγ (PKCγ) by neurons in the spinal dorsal horn, respectively, which was blocked by a P2X7R antagonist or targeting siRNA. Chronic morphine treatment also induced an increased release of D-serine from the spinal astrocytes. Further, both D-amino acid oxygenase (DAAO), a degrading enzyme of D-serine, and bisindolylmaleimide α (BIM), a PKC inhibitor, attenuated morphine tolerance. The present study demonstrated a spinal mechanism underlying morphine tolerance, in which chronic morphine triggered multiple dialogues between glial and neuronal cells in the spinal cord via a cascade involving a P2X7R-IL-18-D-serine-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR)-PKCγ-mediated signaling pathway. PERSPECTIVE The present study shows that glia-neuron interaction via a cascade (P2X7R-IL-18-D-serine-NMDAR-PKCγ) in the spinal cord plays an important role in morphine tolerance. This article may represent potential new therapeutic targets for preventing morphine analgesic tolerance in clinical management of chronic pain.

Abstract
Although the role of CD14 in recognizing Mycobacterium tuberculosis is well-understood, the possible role of polymorphisms in susceptibility to develop tuberculosis remains unclear. This study evaluates whether there is an association of polymorphisms within the promoter of the CD14 gene with susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis. In a case-control study, we genotyped the eight known single nucleotide polymorphisms SNPs within the promoter of the CD14 gene of 698 Han Chinese subjects. Statistically significant differences between tuberculosis patients and healthy controls were found for G-1619A, T-1359G, A-1145G, and C-159T. The haplotype-GGGT, composed of these four SNPs, exhibited a significant association with the disease. Furthermore, expression levels of soluble CD14 were significantly higher in tuberculosis patients with the GGGT haplotype than with other haplotypes, while IgE expression levels were significantly reduced. Our results suggest that these four SNPs within the promoter of the CD14 gene are associated with susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract
The previous study indicated that aquaporin 4 (AQP4) deficiency attenuated opioid physical dependence. However, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. In the present study, the effects of AQP4 deficiency on the expression of three factors, protein kinase C (PKC) α, PKCγ and c-Fos in the spinal cord, which are known to be concerned with spinal neuronal sensitization and opiate dependence, were investigated in AQP4 knockout mice using Western blotting analysis. It was observed that AQP4 deficiency reduced the score of naloxone-precipitated abstinent jumping after repeated morphine administration compared with wild-type (P < 0.001). Meanwhile, the protein levels of PKCα and c-Fos in the spinal cord of AQP4 knockout mice were significantly higher than those in the wild-type mice; while the expression of PKCγ was decreased remarkably by AQP4 knockout during the withdrawal (P < 0.01). These data suggest that AQP4 deficiency-attenuated morphine withdrawal responses may be partially attributed to the changes in the spinal expression of PKCα, PKCγ or c-Fos.

Abstract
The pivotal role of estrogens in the pain sensitivity has been investigated in many ways. Traditionally, it is ascribed to the slow genomic changes mediated by classical nuclear estrogen receptors (ER), ERα and ERβ, depending on peripheral estrogens. Recently, it has become clear that estrogens can also signal through membrane ERs (mERs), such as G-protein-coupled ER1 (GPER1), mediating the non-genomic effects. However, the spinal specific role played by ERs and the underlying cellular mechanisms remain elusive. The present study investigated the rapid estrogenic regulation of nociception at the spinal level. Spinal administration of 17β-estradiol (E2), the most potent natural estrogen, acutely produced a remarkable mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia without significant differences among male, female and ovariectomized (Ovx) rats. E2-induced the pro-nociceptive effects were partially abrogated by ICI 182,780 (ERs antagonist), and mimicked by E2-BSA (a mER agonist). Inhibition of local E2 synthesis by 1,4,6-Androstatrien-3,17-dione (ATD, a potent irreversible aromatase inhibitor), or blockade of ERs by ICI 182,780 produced an inhibitory effect on the late phase of formalin nociceptive responses. Notably, lumbar puncture injection of G15 (a selective GPER1 antagonist) resulted in similar but more efficient inhibition of formalin nociceptive responses as compared with ICI 182,780. At the cellular level, the amplitude and decay time of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents were attenuated by short E2 or E2-BSA treatment in spinal slices. These results indicate that estrogen acutely facilitates nociceptive transmission in the spinal cord via activation of membrane-bound estrogen receptors.

Abstract
Recent evidence suggests that estrogen is synthesized in the spinal dorsal horn and plays a role in nociceptive processes. However, the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these effects remain unclear. Using electrophysiological, biochemical, and morphological techniques, we here demonstrate that 17β-estradiol (E2), a major form of estrogen, can directly modulate spinal cord synaptic transmission by 1) enhancing NMDA receptor-mediated synaptic transmission in dorsal horn neurons, 2) increasing glutamate release from primary afferent terminals, 3) increasing dendritic spine density in cultured spinal cord dorsal horn neurons, and 4) potentiating spinal cord long term potentiation (LTP) evoked by high frequency stimulation (HFS) of Lissauer's tract. Notably, E2-BSA, a ligand that acts only on membrane estrogen receptors, can mimic E2-induced facilitation of HFS-LTP, suggesting a nongenomic action of this neurosteroid. Consistently, cell surface biotinylation demonstrated that three types of ERs (ERα, ERβ, and GPER1) are localized on the plasma membrane of dorsal horn neurons. Furthermore, the ERα and ERβ antagonist ICI 182,780 completely abrogates the E2-induced facilitation of LTP. ERβ (but not ERα) activation can recapitulate E2-induced persistent increases in synaptic transmission (NMDA-dependent) and dendritic spine density, indicating a critical role of ERβ in spinal synaptic plasticity. E2 also increases the phosphorylation of ERK, PKA, and NR2B, and spinal HFS-LTP is prevented by blockade of PKA, ERK, or NR2B activation. Finally, HFS increases E2 release in spinal cord slices, which can be prevented by aromatase inhibitor androstatrienedione, suggesting activity-dependent local synthesis and release of endogenous E2.

Abstract
Soils, vegetables and rainwaters from three vegetable production bases in the Guiyang area, southwest China, were analyzed for Pb concentrations and isotope compositions to trace its sources in the vegetables and soils. Lead isotopic compositions were not distinguishable between yellow soils and calcareous soils, but distinguishable among sampling sites. The highest (207)Pb/(206)Pb and (208)Pb/(206)Pb ratios were found for rainwaters (0.8547-0.8593 and 2.098-2.109, respectively), and the lowest for soils (0.7173-0.8246 and 1.766-2.048, respectively). The (207)Pb/(206)Pb and (208)Pb/(206)Pb ratios increased in vegetables in the order of roots<stems<leaves<fruits. Plots of the (207)Pb/(206)Pb ratios versus the (208)Pb/(206)Pb ratios from all samples formed a straight line and supported a binary end-member mixing model for Pb in vegetables. Using deep soils and rainwaters as geogenic and anthropogenic end members in the mixing model, it was estimated that atmospheric Pb contributed 30-77% to total Pb for vegetable roots, 43-71% for stems, 72-85% for leaves, and 90% for capsicum fruits, whereas 10-70% of Pb in all vegetable parts was derived from soils. This research supports that heavy metal contamination in vegetables can result mainly from atmospheric deposition, and Pb isotope technique is useful for tracing the sources of Pb contamination in vegetables.

Abstract
Background Neuropathic pain in the trigeminal system is frequently observed in clinic, but the mechanisms involved are largely unknown. In addition, the function of immune cells and related chemicals in the mechanism of pain has been recognized, whereas few studies have addressed the potential role of chemokines in the trigeminal system in chronic pain. The present study was undertaken to test the hypothesis that chemokine C-C motif ligand 2 (CCL2)-chemokine C-C motif receptor 2 (CCR2) signaling in the trigeminal nucleus is involved in the maintenance of trigeminal neuropathic pain. Methods The inferior alveolar nerve and mental nerve transection (IAMNT) was used to induce trigeminal neuropathic pain. The expression of ATF3, CCL2, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and CCR2 were detected by immunofluorescence histochemical staining and western blot. The cellular localization of CCL2 and CCR2 were examined by immunofluorescence double staining. The effect of a selective CCR2 antagonist, RS504393 on pain hypersensitivity was checked by behavioral testing. Results IAMNT induced persistent (>21 days) heat hyperalgesia of the orofacial region and ATF3 expression in the mandibular division of the trigeminal ganglion. Meanwhile, CCL2 expression was increased in the medullary dorsal horn (MDH) from 3 days to 21 days after IAMNT. The induced CCL2 was colocalized with astroglial marker GFAP, but not with neuronal marker NeuN or microglial marker OX-42. Astrocytes activation was also found in the MDH and it started at 3 days, peaked at 10 days and maintained at 21 days after IAMNT. In addition, CCR2 was upregulated by IAMNT in the ipsilateral medulla and lasted for more than 21 days. CCR2 was mainly colocalized with NeuN and few cells were colocalized with GFAP. Finally, intracisternal injection of CCR2 antagonist, RS504393 (1, 10 μg) significantly attenuated IAMNT-induced heat hyperalgesia. Conclusion The data suggest that CCL2-CCR2 signaling may be involved in the maintenance of orofacial neuropathic pain via astroglial–neuronal interaction. Targeting CCL2-CCR2 signaling may be a potentially important new treatment strategy for trigeminal neuralgia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to investigate the potential roles of spinal microglia and downstream molecules in the induction of spinal long-term potentiation (LTP) and mechanical allodynia by tetanic stimulation of the sciatic nerve (TSS). METHODS Spinal LTP was induced in adult male Sprague-Dawley rats by tetanic stimulation of the sciatic nerve (0.5 ms, 100 Hz, 40 V, 10 trains of 2-s duration at 10-s intervals). Mechanical allodynia was determined using von Frey hairs. Immunohistochemical staining and Western blot were used to detect changes in glial expression of interleukin-18 (IL-18) and IL-18 receptor (IL-18R). RESULTS TSS induced LTP of C-fiber-evoked field potentials in the spinal cord. Intrathecal administration of the microglial inhibitor minocycline (200 μg/20 μL) 1 h before TSS completely blocked the induction of spinal LTP. Furthermore, after intrathecal injection of minocycline (200 μg/20 μL) by lumbar puncture 1 h before TSS, administration of minocycline for 7 consecutive days (once per day) partly inhibited bilateral allodynia. Immunohistochemistry showed that minocycline inhibited the sequential activation of microglia and astrocytes, and IL-18 was predominantly colocalized with the microglial marker Iba-1 in the spinal superficial dorsal horn. Western blot revealed that repeated intrathecal injection of minocycline significantly inhibited the increased expression of IL-18 and IL-18Rs in microglia induced by TSS. CONCLUSION The IL-18 signaling pathway in microglia is involved in TSS-induced spinal LTP and mechanical allodynia.
