Abstract
Despite the high effectiveness of HPV vaccines in preventing infection, vaccine hesitancy remains a concern, particularly in China. This study aimed to explore college students' attitudes toward HPV vaccination and identify associated factors. Data was collected through a cross-sectional survey using self-administered questionnaires in four cities from May to June 2022. Chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors. Additionally, an integrated structural equation model (SEM) based on the 3Cs (confidence, convenience, complacency) was developed to understand underlying factors contributing to hesitancy. The results from 2261 valid questionnaires were enlightening. A significant 89.47% (59.4% for females) considered HPV vaccination necessary, with 9.82% remaining neutral and only 0.71% deeming it unnecessary. Factors like higher education, being a medical student, residing in urban areas, having medical insurance, more extraordinary living expenses, a family history of tumors, and a solid understanding of HPV played a role in perceiving the vaccine as necessary. Among the 1438 female respondents, 84.36% had no hesitancy toward HPV vaccination, 13.53% expressed hesitancy, and 2.11% refused vaccination. Factors like age, understanding of HPV, medical staff recommendations, living expenses, and family history influenced hesitancy levels. SEM revealed that the 3Cs significantly affected vaccine hesitancy. Factors like price, booking process, vaccination times, trust in vaccines, medical staff recommendations, efficiency, and risk perception collectively influenced hesitancy. In conclusion, this study found high acceptance of HPV vaccination but acknowledged the complexity of hesitancy factors. It recommends medical staff disseminate scientific knowledge, offer recommendations, simplify booking procedures, and expand vaccination sites to address vaccine hesitancy effectively.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted pathogen that causes anogenital disease. Cervical screening by cytology and HPV testing (co-testing) are important in prevention of cervical cancer. The Bethesda System category of atypical squamous cells (ASC) is used when a neoplastic process cannot be confidently identified. In such cases, the differential diagnosis is broad and includes benign conditions. Monitoring of ASC/SIL ratio is a commonly used laboratory quality assurance measure to prevent over- or under-use of this category. High risk human papillomavirus (hr-HPV) has been used in conjunction with the ASC/SIL ratio in determining whether a particular pathologist is over/under-using the indefinite category. However, the laboratory overall sample population prevalence rate of hr-HPV subtypes has not been previously examined for association with the ASC rate. In this study, the relationships between ASC/SIL ratio and hr-HPV prevalence rate and hr-HPV subtypes (16/18 and non-16/18) to the laboratory ASC prevalence were studied. The results demonstrate that HPV non-16/18 is the main subtype which is associated with ASC-US category. A large proportion of non-16/18 HPV-related cases are seen in young patients, which largely abates by the by fourth decade. In addition, there are differences in the ASC/SIL ratio for HPV 16/18 and non-16/18 types. The overall ASC/SIL ratio is an average of the ASC/SIL rate for the non-16/18 population and the HPV 16/18 population. Instead of basing the laboratory and practitioners' quality indicator solely on ASC/SIL ratio, the overall prevalence of HPV and its subtype ratio should also be reported as they are more reflective of laboratory performance.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The objective was to investigate the correlation between Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in the development of benign thyroid lesions. MATERIAL AND METHODS 29 cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), 133 cases of thyroid adenoma, and 34 cases of HT with thyroid adenoma paraffin embedded tissue samples were used for EBV and HPV quantitative detection. RESULTS None of the tissue samples carried HPV DNA. In HT tissue samples, the positive rate of EBV was 55.2% (16/29). In thyroid adenoma tissue samples, the positive rate was 37.6% (50/133). In HT combined with thyroid adenoma tissue samples, the positive rate of EBV was 67.6% (23/34). There was no correlation between EBV infection and clinical features such as age and gender. CONCLUSION The occurrence and development of benign thyroid lesions are closely related to EBV infection. HT combined with thyroid adenoma may be more susceptible to EBV infection than simple HT and thyroid adenoma, which provides a new idea for the diagnosis and treatment of benign thyroid lesions.

Abstract
Infection by human papillomaviruses (HPV) can cause warts and tumors. So far, no small molecule antiviral has been approved for the treatment of infections with this DNA virus, although preclinical studies show activity for nucleosidic compounds, such as 9-(2-phosphonylmethoxy)ethylguanine (PMEG) or cidofovir. This prompted us to test new prodrug versions of the nucleoside analog 3'-azido-2',3'-dideoxythymidine (AZT), known to be active against reverse transcriptases and approved for the treatment of HIV. Here we report the synthesis of an ethylbutyl alaninyl ester phosphosphoramidate prodrug of AZT, dubbed AZAEB, and its activity against HPV, a target not known to be sensitive to AZT. A methyl ester derivative was found to be inactive against this and three other DNA viruses, while the phosphoramidate prodrug AZAEB showed a modest inhibitory effect against HPV types 6, 11, 18 and 31. Our results open up new avenues of study for the treatment of diseases caused by members of the papillomaviridae family.

Abstract
Objective The primary objective of this study was to evaluate patients' knowledge regarding HPV vaccination and vaccine uptake in a diverse patient population. The secondary objective was to evaluate factors influencing the decision to vaccinate, potential barriers to vaccination, and to assess whether HPV vaccines were offered to or discussed with eligible patients in a safety net Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) clinic. Methods A 28-item survey was developed using Likert scale survey questions to assess patient agreement with statements regarding HPV and the vaccine. The surveys were administered to patients in the Ob/Gyn outpatient clinics from May 2021 through September 2022. Additionally, pharmacy data were reviewed and chart review was performed as a quality improvement initiative to assess the impact of expanded HPV vaccine eligibility to patients with private insurance on vaccine uptake. Descriptive statistics were performed. Results 304 patients completed surveys from May 2021 through September 2022. The median age of respondents was 32 (range 18-80). 16 (5%) were Non-Hispanic White, 124 (41%) were Hispanic White, 58 (19%) were Non-Hispanic Black, 6 (2%) were Hispanic Black, 29 (9.5%) were Haitian, 44 (14%) were Hispanic Other, 7 (2%) were Non-Hispanic Other, 20 (6.6%) did not respond. 45 (14%) patients were uninsured. Many patients (62%) reported that a physician had never discussed HPV vaccination with them. Seventy nine percent of patients reported they had never received the HPV vaccine, and 69% of patients reported that lack of a medical provider recommendation was a major barrier. Among patients to whom HPV vaccination had been recommended, 57% reported that the vaccine was not available the same day in clinic. Conclusion Our study demonstrated that many patients never had a provider discuss HPV vaccination with them and never received the HPV vaccine. Additionally, amongst those who did initiate HPV vaccination, completion of the series remains a key barrier. Ensuring that providers discuss HPV vaccination and that patients receive HPV vaccines, along with expanding access to and convenience of HPV vaccination are critical aspects of preventing cervical cancer.

Abstract
Introduction Globally, cervical cancer(CC) is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the leading cause of CC. Persistent infection with HPV accounts for 90% of all CC cases. The human papillomavirus vaccine has the great potential to prevent HPV-related infections for millions of women and men. The current study aimed to assess knowledge and perceptions towards the HPV vaccine and its determinants among women who have eligible daughters in Debre Berhan City, Ethiopia. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2, 2023, to May 15, 2023. A multistage sampling procedure was used to recruit 607 women participants. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize socio-demographic data. Univariable and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses were performed to measure the associations between the dependent and independent variables. A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results More than three-fourths of the participants, 479 individuals (80%) were currently married, and 243(40.1%) had a diploma or higher education level. Of 456(75.12) participants reported, they had information about cervical cancer. For 449(73.9%) of the participants, television was the main evidence. The majority of 352(59.99%) participants knew the HPV vaccine could be offered to a female child aged 9-14 years old. Only 215(35.4%) participants think the HPV vaccine was safe and effective. Women who had a degree and above educational level were about 9 times more likely to have good knowledge about the HPV vaccine than study participants who did not read and write (AOR=9.21; 95% CI=2.82-12.16; p=0.004). Women who did not have information about the HPV vaccine before this study were about 80% less likely to have a positive perception of the HPV vaccine than participants who had earlier information about the HPV vaccine (AOR=0.8; 95%CI=0.63-0.49; P=003). Conclusion Women had poor knowledge and perceptions about the HPV vaccine. Maternal marital status, age, and having information about the HPV vaccine were the only predictors of women's knowledge of the HPV vaccine.

Abstract
Human genital papilloma virus infection is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the world. It is estimated that more than 75% of sexually active women contract this infection in their lifetime. In 80% of young women, there is the clearance of the virus within 18-24 months. In developed countries, oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is now the most frequent human papilloma virus (HPV)-related cancer, having surpassed cervical cancer, and it is predicted that by 2030 most squamous cell carcinomas will be the HPV-related rather than non-HPV-related form. However, there are currently no screening programs for oral cavity infection. While the natural history of HPV infection in the cervix is well known, in the oropharynx, it is not entirely clear. Furthermore, the prevalence of HPV in the oropharynx is unknown. Published studies have found wide-ranging prevalence estimates of 2.6% to 50%. There are also conflicting results regarding the percentage of women presenting the same type of HPV at two mucosal sites, ranging from 0 to 60%. Additionally, the question arises as to whether oral infection can develop from genital HPV infection, through oral and genital contact or by self-inoculation, or whether it should be considered an independent event. However, there is still no consensus on these topics, nor on the relationship between genital and oral HPV infections. Therefore, this literature review aims to evaluate whether there is evidence of a connection between oral and cervical HPV, while also endorsing the usefulness of the screening of oral infection in patients with high-risk cervical HPV as a means of facilitating the diagnosis and early management of HPV-related oral lesions. Finally, this review emphasizes the recommendation for the use of the HPV vaccines in primary prevention in the male and female population as the most effective means of successfully counteracting the increasing incidence of OSCC to date.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Equitable access to colposcopy services is required if we are to realise the benefit of the introduction of human papilloma virus (HPV) screening in Aotearoa New Zealand. We piloted a community colposcopy clinic, co-located at an urban marae health clinic. AIM To describe the experiences of wāhine (women) attending the marae-based colposcopy clinic. METHODS An in-depth reflexive thematic analysis from 34 people's accounts was undertaken. RESULTS Five themes were identified from the experiences of wāhine attending the clinic. Three themes related to how having a local clinic supported access: everyone was welcoming and friendly, the environment was familiar and non-clinical and the clinic was accessible. The fourth theme related to how this contributed to agency. A fifth theme relates to wāhine views about informing the ongoing provision of colposcopy services. The experiences reflected the principles and values practised at the marae health clinic. Wāhine described feeling cared for as soon as they entered the clinic. As the clinic was local, and for some based at their marae, it was a known space where they knew the experience would be safe. Whānau were welcome with spaces for children to play. Being local meant there were fewer logistics to manage, all of which supported access. DISCUSSION Prioritising wāhine through the provision of culturally safe and accessible colposcopy is feasible. It has the potential to contribute to the elimination of cervical cancer in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Abstract
BACKGROUND India suffers a quarter of the global burden of cervical cancer (CC) but is controllable by taking some precautions. The major issue is the low amount of participation among women in screening and vaccination for disease. The objective of the research is to evaluate knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding CC among college going students residing in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh-India. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted on a total of 380 subjects whose ages ranged from 15 to 25 and older. The questionnaires were circulated through google forms. The socio-demographic variables and KAP levels are represented by descriptive statistics. The Chi-square test is used to determine the relationship between sociodemographic factors and KAP levels. RESULTS Among 380 subjects, 172 (54.7%) are aware of CC, 71% have poor knowledge, and 20% have good knowledge about CC. More than three-fourths of women 374 (98.4%) are not having regular practice towards CC. CONCLUSION The awareness about CC is very low in the population, so prevention of CC relies on routine screening, proper vaccination, and treatment. Awareness programs and promoting knowledge about cervical health in social media are required.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) type variants have been classified into lineages and sublineages based upon their whole genome sequence. Here we have examined the specificity of antibodies generated following natural infection with lineage variants of oncogenic types (HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58) by testing serum samples assembled from existing archives from women residing in Africa, The Americas, Asia or Europe against representative lineage-specific pseudoviruses for each genotype. We have subjected the resulting neutralizing antibody data to antigenic clustering methods and created relational antigenic profiles for each genotype to inform the delineation of lineage-specific serotypes. For most genotypes, there was evidence of differential recognition of lineage-specific antigens and in some cases of a sufficient magnitude to suggest that some lineages should be considered antigenically distinct within their respective genotypes. These data provide compelling evidence for a degree of lineage specificity within the humoral immune response following natural infection with oncogenic HPV.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is an abnormal growth of cervical tissue epithelial cells due to persistent human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) can be naturally and spontaneously infected with M. fascicularis Papillomavirus Type 3 (MfPV3), a virus that is phylogenetically closely related to human oncogenic HPV (HPV-16 and HPV-34), and therefore a potentially beneficial for modeling HPV disease. This study aims to evaluate the expression of the integrin alpha 6 (ITGα6) receptor in cynomolgus monkeys spontaneously infected with MfPV3, which this receptor also found in human infected with HPV. METHODS The study was done on archived Formalin-fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) samples of uterine and cervix tissue of cynomolgus monkeys. Immunohistochemistry was also performed to quantify the expression levels of ITGα6. RESULTS The results showed 80% of the samples positive Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) and increased expression of ITGα6 significantly in Positive-MfPV3 group than negative-MfPV3 group. CONCLUSIONS This indicated the potential of cynomolgus monkeys as a spontaneous oncogenesis model of PV infection type.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cervical cancer has been considered as one of the most common cancers in women (15-44 years) globally, but the advent of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine has raised the anticipation that eradication of cervical carcinoma might be achieved in the near future as several prophylactic cervical carcinoma vaccines have already been currently licensed in various countries. Countries should devise strategies, practices and policies to attain and sustain higher levels of HPV immunization coverage as still 68% countries have introduced HPV vaccine in their national immunization programs even after 17 years following the licensure of the first prophylactic HPV vaccine. METHODOLOGY A comprehensive literature analysis was conducted using various databases and search engines, to include the most relevant research articles and data available and critically discussed the operational gaps that need to be answered to achieve adequate coverage of HPV vaccination. RESULTS The present review highlights the existing HPV vaccination strategies, unmet needs and challenges needed to be addressed for proper implementation framework as well as the collaborations required to achieve decent vaccination coverage. Well-coordinated vaccination strategy with focus on adolescent girls and if possible, boys can lead to dramatic impact on disease reduction around the world.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancers of the head and neck (HN) are heterogeneous tumors with incidence rates varying globally. In Northern Europe oral and oropharyngeal cancers are the most common individual types. Survival for HN varies by individual tumor type but for most of them survival trends are not well known over extended periods of time. METHODS Data for a retrospective survival study were obtained for Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish patients from the NORDCAN database from 1971 to 2020. Relative 1- and 5-year survival rates and 5/1-year conditional survival for years 2-5 were calculated. RESULTS Both 1- and 5-year survival improved for all HN cancers but only marginally for laryngeal cancer. For the other cancers a 50-year increase in 5-year survival was about 30% units for nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal cancers, 20% units for oral cancer and somewhat less for hypopharyngeal cancer. CONCLUSIONS 5-year survival reached about 65% for all HN cancers, except for hypopharyngeal cancer (30%). Human papilloma virus infection is becoming a dominant risk factor for the rapidly increasing oropharyngeal cancer, the prevention of which needs to emphasize oral sex as a route of infection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The human papilloma virus is a global problem that affects sexually active women and men, with cervical cancer being the most serious associated disease. Most cervical cancer cases can be prevented by vaccination against the human papilloma virus early in life. The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices among physicians working in Qatar, regarding the human papilloma virus, infection, and prevention using vaccines. STUDY-DESIGN This was a cross-sectional study using quantitative data collection. METHODOLOGY An online survey targeting physicians working in Qatar was conducted, using a web-based pretested questionnaire. The questionnaire comprised four sections capturing a few demographic details, 33 questions in the Knowledge Section, 12 questions eliciting the attitude, and 14 practice-related questions. Mean knowledge score was calculated and those with a score more than the mean score were considered to have sufficient knowledge. Association between knowledge and attitude/practices/independent variables were looked for using bivariate and multivariate analysis. Logistic regression was used to identify the predictors for recommending human papilloma virus vaccines. RESULTS Of the 557 physicians who participated, 83.7% had sufficient knowledge, but only 69.1% knew that human papilloma virus vaccines were available in Qatar. The majority (89.4%) knew that human papilloma virus infection could be asymptomatic and 96.1% knew at least one symptom; 77% believed the human papilloma virus vaccine would substantially decrease the chances of human papilloma virus infection and related cancers and 46.5% felt physicians were less motivated to promote the human papilloma virus vaccine. The perceived barriers to community acceptance of the human papilloma virus vaccine were lack of awareness regarding the relationship between human papilloma virus and cervical cancer (61.6%), doubts regarding efficacy (32.5%), fear regarding safety (26.9%), concern that the human papilloma virus vaccination may encourage risky sexual behavior (26.8%), and perceived low-risk (23.3%) and cost (24.6%). Only 21.5% commonly discussed sexual health with their clients. More than one-third were not interested in recommending the human papilloma virus vaccine. Bivariate analysis showed nationality, specialization, discussing with patients, and recommending vaccine to be significantly associated with knowledge. Bivariate and regression analysis identified that female gender and physician's religion were significant predictors to recommend the human papilloma virus vaccine. CONCLUSION Most physicians have good knowledge. Less than one-fourth commonly discussed sexual health with their clients. More than one-third were not interested in recommending the human papilloma virus vaccine. This issue might affect the human papilloma virus vaccination program implementation if not well addressed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION/OBJECTIVES With growing vaccination misinformation and mistrust, strategies to improve vaccination communication across community-based settings are needed. METHODS The Rural Adolescent Vaccine Enterprise (RAVE), a 5-year (2018-2022) stepped-wedge cluster randomized study, tested a clinic-based practice facilitation intervention designed to improve HPV vaccination. An exploratory aim sought to explore the use of partnerships between primary care clinics and a community partner of their choosing, to implement a social marketing campaign related to HPV immunization. We assessed perceptions about the value and success of the partnership, and barriers and facilitators to its implementation using a 29-item community partner survey, key informant interviews, and field notes from practice facilitators. RESULTS Of the initial 45 clinics participating in RAVE, 9 were unable to either start or complete the study, and 36 participants (80.0%) were actively engaged. Of these, 16/36 clinics (44.4%) reported establishing successful partnerships, 10 reported attempting to develop partnerships (27.8%), and another 10 reported not developing a partnership (27.8%), which were often caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The most common partnership was with public health departments at 27.3%. Other partnerships involved libraries, school districts, and local businesses. More than half (63.7%) reported that creating messages regarding getting HPV vaccination was moderately to very challenging. Just under half reported (45.5%) that messaging was hard because of a lack of understanding about the seriousness of diseases caused by HPV, parents being against vaccines because of safety concerns, and religious values that result in a lack of openness to HPV vaccines. Community partners' health priorities changed as a result of RAVE, with 80% prioritizing childhood immunizations as a result of the RAVE partnership. CONCLUSIONS Community groups want to partner with primary care organizations to serve their patients and populations. More research is needed on how best to bring these groups together.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Vulva squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) develops through two separate molecular pathways-one involving high-risk human papilloma virus infection (HPV-associated), and the other without HPV infection (HPV-independent) often involving TP53 mutation. HPV-associated VSCC generally has a better progression-free survival than HPV-independent VSCC. The aim of this study was to determine TP53 mutation status using immunohistochemistry, compare different methods of HPV detection and correlate both with survival in a retrospective cohort of 123 patients with VSCC. MATERIAL AND METHODS Immunohistochemistry for p53, Ki67 and p16INK4A (a surrogate marker for HPV infection) was performed on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues from a cohort of surgically treated VSCC patients to identify molecular subtypes of VSCC. Presence of HPV infection was detected by HPV DNA PCR and HPV mRNA in situ hybridization (ISH). The Pearson chi-square test and multivariable Cox regression model were used to investigate the association of different parameters with progression-free survival and disease-specific survival (DSS), and Kaplan-Meier curves were used to show the association of different parameters with survival. RESULTS The results of p53 and p16INK4A immunohistochemistry confirmed three VSCC subtypes associated with different prognosis. The TP53 mutation status was identified as an independent prognostic factor of worse progression-free survival (p = 0.024) after adjustment for FIGO stage. p16INK4A immunohistochemistry, mRNA ISH, and DNA PCR had excellent concordance in terms of HPV detection. According to the multivariable Cox regression model, the presence of hrHPV mRNA correlated significantly with increased progression-free survival (p = 0.040) and DSS (p = 0.045), after adjustment for other confounders. CONCLUSIONS p53 and p16INK4A immunohistochemistry stratify VSCC cohort into three subtypes with TP53mutated patients having the worst prognosis. The detection of hrHPV mRNA by ISH was an independent predictor of increased survival. Thus, the combined detection of p53 and HPV mRNA might improve risk stratification in VSCC.

Abstract
Introduction Condyloma acuminatum usually occurs in the external genitalia and rarely in the bladder mucosa. Here, we report a case of condyloma acuminatum of the bladder that was detected concurrently with urothelial carcinoma. Case presentation A 42-year-old man was referred to our urology department with positive urine cytology for urothelial carcinoma. Cystoscopy revealed a broad-base nonpapillary bladder tumor. The patient underwent a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor. Pathological examination revealed urothelial carcinoma, high-grade pT1, and concurrent resection of condyloma acuminatum. DNA was extracted from the paraffin-embedded transurethral resection of the bladder tumor tissue specimens. HPV11 was detected in condylomas by PCR and in situ hybridization, whereas HPV was not detected in urothelial carcinomas. Conclusion We report a rare case of condyloma acuminatum of the bladder that was concurrently diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma from the same site.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus can induce condyloma acuminata, a benign papillomatous squamous growth with a fibrovascular core that arises in the vaginal canal. These illnesses typically afflict women who are fertile and are frequently encountered during pregnancy, manifesting with a variety of symptoms. The influences of hormones and vaginal secretions cause the lesion to expand quickly during pregnancy. Viral infections are known to be one risk factor for threatening abortions. Infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) during pregnancy has been associated with a risk for spontaneous abortion, preterm delivery, and abnormalities in the placenta. There are many therapeutic approaches available to address the disease; however, it is still unclear which one is the most successful. Additionally, organogenesis is crucial throughout the first trimester, and treatment during this period may elevate the risk of spontaneous abortion. Here, we describe the case of a young woman who experienced vaginal lesions during the first trimester of her pregnancy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A bivalent human papillomavirus vaccine (2vHPV) is currently used in the Netherlands; a nonavalent vaccine (9vHPV) is also licensed. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We compared the public health and economic benefits of 2vHPV- and 9vHPV-based vaccination strategies in the Netherlands over 100 years using a validated deterministic dynamic transmission metapopulation model. RESULTS Compared to 2vHPV, the 9vHPV strategy averted an additional 3,245 cases of and 825 deaths from 9vHPV-strain-attributable cancers, 4,247 cases of and 190 deaths from recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), and 1,009,637 cases of anogenital warts (AGWs), with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of €4,975 per quality-adjusted life year (QALY) gained. The ICER increased in a scenario with increased HPV vaccination coverage rates and was relatively robust to one-way deterministic sensitivity analyses, with variation in the disease utility parameter having the most impact. When catch-up vaccination for individuals ≤26 years of age was added to the model, vaccinating with 9vHPV averted additional cancers and AGWs compared to 2vHPV vaccination. CONCLUSION Our analyses predict that transitioning from a 2vHPV- to a 9vHPV-based vaccination strategy would be cost-effective in the Netherlands.

Abstract
Aiming to further the Immunization Partners in Asia Pacific (IPAP)'s vision of a world where no one suffers from a vaccine preventable disease, the 8th Asian Vaccine Conference (ASVAC 2022) was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka and virtually from 15 to 18, September 2022 (www.asianvaccine.com). This conference followed those held in Siem Reap, Cambodia (2009), Manila, Philippines (2010), Jakarta, Indonesia (2011), Cebu, Philippines (2013), Hanoi, Vietnam (2015), Singapore (2017) and Naypyidaw and Yangon, Myanmar (2019). The ASVAC2022 themed "Immunization: in Era of Pandemics," commenced with the EPI Managers' Workshop, followed by pre-conference workshops and Vaccinology Masterclass, followed by the main conference featuring 5 plenary lectures, 6 partner-led symposia, free paper and poster presentations, and industry-supported lunch and evening sessions. There were over 1830 registered participants, with 112 attending in person and 998 virtually from 63 countries. The conference was organized by IPAP and hosted by the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Forum of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians, Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists and College of General Practitioners of Sri Lanka, with the support of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. The 9th ASVAC is scheduled to be held in Davao City, Philippines in late 2023.

Abstract
As of November 2023, 140 World Health Organization (WHO) member states had introduced human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in their routine immunization schedules. Despite a continuously increasing demand from countries across all income groups, supply constraints, COVID-19 pandemic disruptions, and other factors have slowed the pace of introduction, particularly in low-resource settings. Using a population-based forecasting methodology and leveraging the WHO's yearly vaccine supply data collection, we updated global demand and supply projections for the HPV vaccine for the period of 2022-2031. The analysis aimed at clarifying the magnitude of the challenges to bringing in equitable access to HPV vaccines, which can hinder the achievement of the Global Strategy for the Elimination of Cervical Cancer. The results of this analysis show that the risk of HPV shortages has significantly decreased, and global supply is now, under normal circumstances, sufficient to meet global demand. In the long term, HPV supply will be more than sufficient to meet the Global Strategy's goal of 90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by the age of 15 years. Nonetheless, paying attention to the formulation of policies and carefully managing demand and supply will be required to ensure the long-term sustainability of the HPV vaccine program.

Abstract
Large loop excision of the transformation zone is an extremely common procedure routinely carried out in a gynaecology or colposcopy outpatient setting under local anaesthetic. Here, we present a rare case resulting in emergency hysterectomy. A healthy para 3, who had been diagnosed with microscopic cancer of the cervix, attended colposcopy for repeat excision. The colposcopy revealed a normal cervix, and diathermy loop excision was performed. During the procedure, heavy bleeding from the anterior cutting edge was noted. Despite the best attempts to manage the haemorrhage conservatively in outpatients, the bleeding persisted, and the patient was transferred to theatres. Examination under anaesthesia revealed an injury to the descending branch of the uterine artery, and emergency hysterectomy was performed. Immediate recognition of an extremely rare complication, fast decision-making and a cross-disciplinary approach led to a satisfactory outcome.

Abstract
Although preventable; cervical cancer remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially in developing countries; thus, early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent its development into invasive cancer. Based on the screening results, diagnostic colposcopy was performed to evaluate women with abnormal Papinocalaou test results, high-risk human papillomavirus DNA positivity, or suspected cervical cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the optimal acetic acid concentration (5% or 8%) for detecting cervical precancerous/cancerous lesions during colposcopy evaluation. This study included 607 patients admitted to our obstetrics and gynecology clinic. The medical records of the patients were obtained from the colposcopy registry in the hospital information system and retrospectively analyzed. The cases were divided into 2 groups according to the acetic acid concentrations (5% and 8%) used during colposcopy and examined. The duration of acetic acid application was 2 to 4 minutes. The probability of developing ≥ CIN2 was low in patients with negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy smear results in both groups, but increased in the high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions/atypical squamous cells group with the 8% acetic acid concentration (P < .0001; P = .012). The probabilities of pathological detection of ≥ CIN2 in the 5% and 8% acetic acid groups were 17.3% and 46.6%, respectively (P < .0001). The enhancement of the efficiency of colposcopy should focus on improving the detectability of precancerous lesions. Given that this study compared the effectiveness of acetic acid concentration in colposcopy diagnostics, it can be considered a leading study in this field.

Abstract
Purpose: Studies reported that early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cervical cancer are influenced by knowledge, beliefs, and attitude toward screening. This descriptive-comparative study aimed to assess human papilloma virus (HPV) knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs in university students and the affecting factors and to compare between Turkish and Ghanaian students. Methods: The sample consists of 933 university students studying in 4 different faculties in 2 universities from Turkey and Ghana. The data were collected between November 2019 and February 2020. The study's data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance, Pearson Correlation test, t-test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The findings of the study showed that none of the students in both countries had HPV vaccination. It was found that students have low level of knowledge about HPV infection and vaccine (3.28 ± 2.14) and positive attitudes (16.57 ± 3.28) and beliefs (36.74 ± 6.55) toward vaccine. The attitude score of the Ghanaian students (17.54 ± 3.23) was found to be significantly higher than the Turkish students (15.74 ± 3.09). The knowledge score of the Ghanaian students who had sexual intercourse was found to be significantly higher than others. The findings of the study revealed that the students of both countries had low level of knowledge about HPV infection and vaccine and positive attitudes and beliefs toward the vaccine. Conclusions: It is recommended to increase effective interventions to increase the knowledge level of university students about HPV infection and vaccine. In addition, the vaccine should be included in the immunization program in both countries.

Abstract
HPV16 status in oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) is an important prognostic factor. Its determination, based on immunistochemical analysis of p16 oncoprotein requires an invasive biopsy. Thus, alternative methods are being sought. Determining oral HPV16 status appears to be a promising alternative. However, it is not used routinely. This prompted us to perform a systematic literature review enabling us to evaluate the diagnostic and predictive ability of this approach. Thirty-four relevant studies were finally selected. For determination of HPV status in OPC, the calculated average sensitivity and specificity for oral sampling was 74% and 91%, respectively, with p16 tumour tissue marker being the gold standard. The method appears to be valuable in monitoring treatment response as well as the biological activity of the tumour, enabling early detection of persistent or relapsing carcinoma sufficiently long before its clinical and/or radiological manifestation. It can also contribute to identification of the primary tumour in cases of metastases of unknown origin. Last but not least, the screening HPV oral testing would help to identify individuals with persistent HPV oral infection who are at increased risk of development of OPC.

It develops through precancerous lesions (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), graded from low-grade (CIN1) to high-grade (CIN2-3)). It is well established that precancerous and cancerous cervical lesions are caused by a persistent infection with high-risk types of the human papilloma virus (hrHPV). To have a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of CIN and CC, we systematically analyzed the landscape of genomic alterations and HPV integration profiles in high-grade CIN2/3. We performed deep whole genome sequencing on exfoliated cervical cells and matched peripheral blood samples from a cohort of 51 Chinese patients (of whom 35 were HPV+) with high-grade CIN from 3 ethnic groups and constructed strict integrated workflow of genomic analysis. In addition, the HPV types and integration breakpoints in the exfoliated cervical cells from these patients were examined. Genomic analysis identified 6 significantly mutated genes (SMGs), including CDKN2A, PIK3CB, FAM20A, RABEP1, TMPRSS2 and SS18L1, in 51 CIN2/3 samples. As none of them had previously been identified as SMGs in the Cancer Genome Atlas cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma (TCGA-CESC) cohort, future studies with larger sample size of CINs may be needed to validate our findings. Mutational signature analysis showed that mutational signatures of CINs were dramatically different from CCs, highlighting their different mutational processes and etiologies. Moreover, non-silent somatic mutations were detected in all of the CIN2/3 samples, and 88% of these mutations occurred in genes that also mutated in CCs of TCGA cohort. CIN2 samples had significantly less non-silent mutations than CIN3 samples (P = .0006). Gene ontology and pathway level analysis revealed that functions of mutated genes were significantly associated with tumorigenesis, thus these genes may be involved in the development and progression of CC. HPV integration breakpoints occurred in 28.6% of the CIN2/3 samples with HPV infection. Integrations of common high risk HPV types in CCs, including HPV16, 52, 58 and 68, also occurred in the CIN samples. Our results lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of CC and pave the way for new tools for screening, diagnosis and treatment of cervical precancerous and cancerous lesions.

Abstract
A 47-year-old man with a background history of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and seasonal asthma underwent a gastroscopy for further investigation. Endoscopy revealed numerous polypoid lesions diffusely distributed in the lower third of the esophagus, with histology revealing squamous papilloma with occasional intraepithelial lymphocytes. The diagnosis was esophageal squamous papillomatosis (ESP), which is a rare condition characterized by exophytic and circumferential projections with friable mucosa diffusely spread through the esophagus with unclear etiology and malignancy risk.

Abstract
Background and Purpose: Human papillomavirus-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) is increasingly prevalent. Despite the overall more favorable outcome, the observed heterogeneous treatment response within this patient group highlights the need for additional means to prognosticate and guide clinical decision-making. Promising prediction models using radiomics from primary OPSCC have been derived. However, no model/s using metastatic lymphadenopathy exist to allow prognostication in those instances when the primary tumor is not seen. The aim of our study was to evaluate whether radiomics using metastatic lymphadenopathy allows for the development of a useful risk assessment model comparable to the primary tumor and whether additional knowledge of the HPV status further improves its prognostic efficacy. Materials and Methods: 80 consecutive patients diagnosed with stage III-IV OPSCC between February 2009 and October 2015, known human papillomavirus status, and pre-treatment CT images were retrospectively identified. Manual segmentation of primary tumor and metastatic lymphadenopathy was performed and the extracted texture features were used to develop multivariate assessment models to prognosticate treatment response. Results: Texture analysis of either the primary or metastatic lymphadenopathy from pre-treatment enhanced CT images can be used to develop models for the stratification of treatment outcomes in OPSCC patients. AUCs range from .78 to .85 for the various OPSCC groups tested, indicating high predictive capability of the models. Conclusions: This preliminary study can form the basis multi-centre trial that may help optimize treatment and improve quality of life in patients with OPSCC in the era of personalized medicine.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of human papillomavirus (HPV), HPV types, and the association with age, pregnancy, and childbirth in pregnant women. METHOD Four hundred and forty-eight pregnant women who visited our clinic were enrolled in the study. Polymerase chain reaction was used to determine HPV DNA and typing by cervical smear in the initial applications of patients with detailed history. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 13.0 was used to analyze the data. RESULTS HPV DNA was positive in 26 (5.8%) of 448 patients who participated in the study. High-risk HPV types were detected in 77% of HPV-positive cases and low-risk HPV types in 23% of cases. Only one HPV type was detected in 13 patients (50%), while multiple HPV types were detected in 13 patients (50%) of the HPV-positive cases. A significant negative association was found between gravidity and positivity of HPV DNA. HPV is more common in women with lower parity and gravidity. CONCLUSION Studies conducted in different populations in different regions of Turkey have shown that the incidence of HPV in women ranges from 2.2% to 26%. In our study, the incidence of HPV DNA in pregnant women was 5.8%. It was found that there was an inverse relationship between parity and HPV DNA positivity. The HPV DNA positivity decreased with the number of births.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and anti-cancer action of a precision medicine approach involving a novel SIRT1-dependent pathway that, when disrupted, leads to the restoration of a functional p53 in human papillomavirus (HPV)-transformed cells. METHODS The anticancer potential of inhibiting SIRT1 was evaluated by examining the effects of the specific SIRT1 inhibitor EX527 (also known as Selisistat) or genetic silencing, either individually or in conjunction with standard chemotherapeutic agents, on a range of HPV+ cancer cells and a preclinical mouse model of HPV16-induced cancer. RESULTS We show that SIRT1 inhibition restores a transcriptionally active K382-acetylated p53 in HPV+ but not HPV- cell lines, which in turn promotes G0/G1 cell cycle arrest and inhibits clonogenicity specifically in HPV+ cells. Additionally, EX527 treatment increases the sensitivity of HPV+ cells to sublethal doses of standard genotoxic agents. The enhanced sensitivity to cisplatin as well as p53 restoration were also observed in an in vivo tumorigenicity assay using syngeneic C3.43 cells harbouring an integrated HPV16 genome, injected subcutaneously into C57BL/6J mice. CONCLUSIONS Our findings uncover an essential role of SIRT1 in HPV-driven oncogenesis, which may have direct translational implications for the treatment of this type of cancer.

Abstract
The primary causes of cervical cancer are human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) and/or other high-risk (Hr -) HPV infections. Hr-HPVE5, E6, and E7 have been identified as oncoproteins that play roles in the development of cancer. However, other HPV proteins, especially E1, may also be involved in cancer development. In this study, the role of HPV16E1 in cervical carcinogenesis was examined by siRNA knockdown experiments using SiHa cells as a model. The results showed that HPV16E1 regulated P-FOXO3a and HPV16E7 expression. Various cell functions associated with the hallmarks of cancer, including cell viability, colony formation, invasion, and anchorage-independent cell growth, were altered when HPV16E1 was downregulated. However, no effect on cell migration and apoptosis properties was found. Moreover, HPV16E1 downregulation resulted in an increase in cisplatin susceptibility. In conclusion, this is the first demonstration that HPV16E1 might be regarded as a possible novel oncoprotein involved in several processes related to oncogenesis.

Abstract
Introduction Human papillomavirus virus-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPV-OPSCC) comprises a significant portion of head and neck cancers. Several glucocorticoid-inducible proteins play important roles in pathogenesis of some cancers but their status and roles in HPV-OPSCC remain elusive; these include the glucocorticoid-induced leucine zipper (GILZ), Annexin-A1 and serum glucocorticoid-regulated kinase-1 (SGK-1). Methods We determined expression profiles of these proteins, using immunohistochemistry, in archived biopsy samples of patients diagnosed with HPV-OPSCC; samples of non-cancer oral lesions (e.g., hyperkeratosis) were used as controls. Results GILZ staining was primarily confined to nuclei of all tissues but, in HPV-OPSCC specimens, neoplastic cells exhibiting mitosis displayed prominent cytoplasmic GILZ expression. On the other hand, nuclear, cytoplasmic and membranous Annexin-A1 staining was observed in suprabasal cell layers of control specimens. A noted feature of the HPV-OPSCC specimens was few clusters of matured and differentiated nonbasaloid cells that showed prominent nuclear and cytoplasmic Annexin-A1 staining while the remainder of the tumor mass was devoid of staining. Cytoplasmic and nuclear staining for SGK-1 was prominent for control than PV-OPSCC specimens while staining for phosphorylated SGK-1 (pSGK-1; active) was prominent for cell membrane and cytoplasm of control specimens but HPV-OPSCC specimens showed mild and patchy nuclear and cytoplasmic staining. Semi-quantitative analysis of GILZ immunostaining indicated increased staining area but similar normalized staining for HPV-OPSCC compared to control specimens. By contrast, staining area and normalized staining were reduced for other proteins in HPV-OPSCC than control specimens. Discussion Our collective observations suggest differential cellular localization and expression of glucocorticoid-inducible proteins in HPV-OPSCC suggestive of different functional roles in pathogenesis of this condition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN) is a rare human papillomavirus (HPV)- related premalignant condition. VaIN lesions are diagnosed histologically through colposcopy-guided biopsies of suspicious areas, conduced by gynecologists with expertise in lower genital tract diseases. The present study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of colposcopy in the diagnosis of VaIN of any grade. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis on a cohort of 149 women diagnosed with low grade (LG)-VaIN (VaIN1) and high grade (HG)-VaIN (VaIN2-3) between 2010 and 2022 at the "Regional Referral Center for Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of HPV-related Genital Disorders", Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy. All women had been referred to our center for an abnormal Pap smear or as part of routine follow-up of other HPV-related diseases and had undergone a vaginal biopsy under colposcopic guidance. RESULTS The distribution of the histological grades of VaIN lesions was the following: 62 women (41.6%) were diagnosed with VaIN1, 51 (34.2%) with VaIN2, and 36 (24.2%) with VaIN3. Grade II (major) abnormal colposcopic patterns were recorded in 71 cases (47.7%) and were more commonly observed in women with VaIN3 (80.6%). However, we found a poor and not statistically significant association between colposcopic and histological grade of VaIN. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of colposcopy for histologically confirmed VaIN were 56.3%, 64.5%, 69% and 51.2%, respectively. The overall diagnostic accuracy of colposcopy was 59.7%. CONCLUSION Colposcopy-guided biopsy plays an important role in the diagnosis of VaIN and in the distinction between low and high-grade lesions. Our data show that major colposcopic abnormalities moderately correlate with HG-VaIN and that grade I colposcopic findings do not exclude HG-VaIN, especially VaIN2. Targeted biopsies of suspicious vaginal areas must be performed in all women with an abnormal Pap smear.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Over 70% of cervical cancers are detected in women not currently screening. Queensland Health wanted to better understand the drivers of screening to inform our planning and capitalise on self-collection as an option to reach under-screened women. In 2020 Queensland Health commissioned qualitative research to explore barriers and enablers to cervical screening with never-screened and under-screened women in Queensland (with under-screeners defined as having last screened more than 4 years ago and being more than 2 years overdue). Additionally, the research explored the acceptability of self-collection amongst this cohort. METHODS A mixed methods qualitative approach of online focus groups and in-depth interviews was employed. Online focus groups were conducted with under-screeners. In-depth telephone interviews were conducted with never-screeners due to the anticipated personal nature of their reasons for not screening. RESULTS A total of 51 Queensland women aged 30 to 50 years participated in the research. CONCLUSIONS Queensland women cited several negative experiences and aspects of the current program, as well as barriers in their social and personal lives that limited screening intention and behaviour. Barriers and enablers to cervical screening identified in this research have been classified into four categories: structural, knowledge and attitudinal, social, and personal. The research identified more factors associated with nonparticipation than participation. However, the research did uncover a range of potential enablers to encourage screening, some of which related to the program design. SO WHAT?: The concept of self-collection was broadly well accepted by research participants, particularly by never-screeners. Recommendations resulting from this research include communications, systems, and eligibility changes, particularly regarding the availability and benefits of self-collection.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Vulvovaginal infections pose significant health challenges for women, necessitating effective treatment approaches. This retrospective observational study aimed at investigating the efficacy of collagen-based vaginal ovules therapy, specifically Plurigin Ovules, in restoring cervical epithelialization and reducing inflammation in mycotic, viral, and bacterial cervico-vaginitis. Materials and Methods: A total of 398 women with cervico-vaginitis were included in the study, categorized into three groups: bacterial cervico-vaginitis (Group A), viral cervico-vaginitis (Group B), and fungal cervico-vaginitis (Group C). Participants received vaginal therapy with Plurigin Ovules for three months. Vaginal health parameters were assessed at baseline (T0) and after six months (T1) using various diagnostic tests and analyzed with appropriate statistical tests. Results: Significant improvement in cervico-vaginitis was observed in all three groups. At T1, 87.7% patients of Group A, 66.7% of Group B, and 71.5% of Group C achieved infection resolution (all p < 0.05). Positive colposcopy results decreased across all groups (p < 0.001). Positive vaginal swabs and altered vaginal pH decreased in group A and C (p < 0.001). Positive HPV tests decreased in Group B (p < 0.001). Positive Pap tests and clinical examinations decreased significantly across all groups (p < 0.001). The odds ratios were calculated to reveal the significant associations between these diagnostic outcomes. The therapy was well-tolerated, and no major adverse events were reported. Conclusion: Plurigin Ovules exhibited promising therapeutic outcomes in the three cervico-vaginitis conditions studied. Bacterial cervico-vaginitis showed the most significant improvement, followed by fungal and viral cervico-vaginitis. These findings emphasize the potential of Plurigin Ovules as an effective therapeutic option for cervico-vaginal inflammation and infection, highlighting its role in promoting re-epithelialization and reducing inflammatory processes in the cervix and vagina.

Abstract
Objectives: To study the prevalence and the association of HPV infection in retinoblastoma and to determine the most common genotype presented in RB. Methods: Following the PRIMSA guideline, 14 studies reporting HPV infection in RB acquired from six databases were included. Results: The prevalence of HPV from 941 RB samples was 15.6% [95% confidence interval (CI): 7.3-30]. Mexico followed by India and Brazil had the highest HPV prevalence in RB samples, 61.7% (95% CI: 17-93), 22.5% (95% CI: 9-47), and 12.1% (95% CI: 2-52), in order. HPV 16 was the most common genotype presented in RB samples 23% (95% CI: 9-47), followed by HPV 18 10% (95% CI: 3-30) and the combined HPV 16-18 6% (95% CI: 0-50). We did not find a significant association between HPV and RB [odds ratio (OR): 12.2; 95% CI: 0.65-232; p = 0.09]. However, after removing the largest-weighted study, a significant association between HPV and RB was observed (OR: 45.9; 95% CI; 8.6-245; p < 0.001). Conclusion: HPV prevalence in RB samples was 15% and HPV 16 was the most presented genotype in RB samples. There may be an association between HPV and RB that is needed to be confirmed by high quality future studies. Preventive and treatment measures against HPV infection are essential for the prevention of any possible consequences, in particular, RB.

Abstract
Genital warts (GWs) caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) are a significant health problem due to high prevalence and rate of recurrence. Bivalent vaccine has been used since the start of the national vaccination program in 2013, making it feasible to study the GW burden in Finland. There is no national and up-to-date information available on the prevalence and the burden of GWs in the various healthcare sectors in Finland. The present study investigated the prevalence, healthcare resource use, and direct medical costs of the treatment of GWs in Finland in 2018 using data in national healthcare registers. GW cases were identified based on diagnoses in public healthcare and GW-related prescription medications. Cost analysis included public healthcare contacts, procedures in private care, and medications. The study showed that approximately 12,000 GWs cases were treated in Finland in 2018. Since less than half of GW diagnoses were recorded in public healthcare registers, determining the exact costs was challenging. The estimated direct treatment costs in 2018 were 2.6 M€, which is higher than the previous estimation in Finland, yet still likely an underestimation of the true burden. These results provide information for the management of the GW burden in Finland.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a major contributor to the development of cervical cancer, resulting in over 500,000 cases and 266,000 deaths annually worldwide. Previous cervical cancer screening programs have been successful in reducing cervical cancer rates, but have faced challenges such as low acceptance and adherence rates. Innovations in screening technology, such as the HerSwab self-sampling test, have the potential to increase awareness, acceptance, and participation in cervical cancer screening programs. AIM This literature review examines the effectiveness of HerSwab and participatory innovations in increasing adherence to cervical cancer screening. METHOD This manuscript comprised a comprehensive narrative literature review encompassing the years 2006-2022. The review process adhered to the PRISMA diagram as a guiding framework. Among the search terms utilized, a total of 200 articles were initially retrieved. However, after applying the predefined inclusion criteria, only 57 articles were included. RESULTS The HerSwab self-sampling test is described, including how it is performed, challenges, and facilitators, and evaluation and assessment of its effectiveness. While the HerSwab diagnostic test is not currently widely available, studies should assess its feasibility in less developed countries where cervical cancer mortality rates are high. CONCLUSION By increasing awareness and availability of innovative screening techniques, such as HerSwab, we can work toward reducing the incidence of cervical cancer and improving outcomes for women worldwide.

Abstract
Background and purpose HPV-associated or positive (HPV+) anal cancer patients may have better outcome compared to those with HPV negative (HPV-) disease. We report a planned interim analysis of a prospective registry study that tailors chemoradiation (CRT) for anal cancer according to HPV status. Materials and methods HPV+ patients received de-escalated radiation doses of 45, 50.4 and 55.8 Gy, while HPV- received 50.4, 55.8 and 63 Gy for T1, T2 and T3/T4 disease respectively. Chemotherapy consisted of a single dose of mitomycin-C and oral capecitabine on days of RT. All patients were planned by VMAT following CT, PET/CT and MR simulation. This cohort (n = 24) had a minimum 24-month follow-up. Disease free survival (DFS) and local failure rates (LFR) were compared with 180 patients managed by standard CRT (2 cycles of mitomycin-C and 5-fluorouracil, radiation doses 50.4-63 Gy based on T-category) from 2011-2018. Propensity score comparison was performed using a retrospective to prospective 2 to 1 match based on tumor size and N-category. Results In the HPV+ cohort (n = 20), there were 2 local failures. Two of 4 HPV- patients failed locally. The 30-month DFS and LFR were 79% and 17% respectively. Similar DFS and LFR were observed in the retrospective (80% and 15% respectively) and matched patients (76% and 16% respectively). No grade ≥3 neutropenia and febrile neutropenia were observed in the registry cohort whereas 19% and 14% respectively were seen in the retrospective patients. Conclusion De-escalation of CRT for HPV+ anal cancer may result in decreased acute toxicities and similar cancer outcomes compared to standard CRT.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is associated with intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer (CC). Ecuador has a high prevalence of cervical cancer, with more than 1600 new cases diagnosed annually. This study aimed to analyze oncogenes E6 and E7 of HPV16 in samples collected from women with cancerous and precancerous cervical lesions from the Ecuadorian coast. Twenty-nine women, including six with ASCUS, three with LSIL, thirteen with HSIL, and seven with Cacu, were analyzed. The most common SNPs were E6 350G or L83V (82.6%) and E6 145T/286A/289G/335T/350G or Q14H/F78Y/L83V (17.4%). Both variants are reported to be associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer in worldwide studies. In contrast, all E7 genes have conserved amino-acid positions. Phylogenetic trees showed the circulation of the D (26.1%) and A (73.9) lineages. The frequency of D was higher than that reported in other comparable studies in Ecuador and Latin America, and may be related to the ethnic composition of the studied populations. This study contributes to the characterization of the potential risk factors for cervical carcinogenesis associated with Ecuadorian women infected with HPV16.

Abstract
Persistent high-risk human papilloma virus (HR-HPV) infection is the main risk factor for cervical cancer, threatening women's health. Despite growing prophylactic vaccination, annual cervical cancer cases are still increasing and show a trend of younger onset age. However, therapeutic approaches towards HPV infection are still limited. 25-hydrocholesterol (25HC) has a wide-spectrum inhibitory effect on a variety of viruses. To explore efficient interventions to restrict HPV infection at an early time, we applied different pseudoviruses (PsV) to evaluate anti-HPV efficacy of 25HC. We tested PsV inhibition by 25HC in cervical epithelial-derived HeLa and C-33A cells, using high-risk (HPV16, HPV18, HPV59), possibly carcinogenic (HPV73), and low-risk (HPV6) HPV PsVs. Then we established murine genital HPV PsV infection models and applied IVIS to evaluate anti-HPV efficacy of 25HC in vivo. Next, with the help of confocal imaging, we targeted 25HC activity at filopodia upon HPV exposure. After that, we used RNA-seq and Western blot analysis to investigate (1) how 25HC disturbs actin cytoskeleton remodeling during HPV infection and (2) how prenylation regulates the cytoskeletal remodeling signaling pathway. Our findings suggest that 25HC perturbs F-actin rearrangement by reducing small GTPase prenylation. In this way, the phenomenon of HPV virion surfing was restricted, leading to failed infection.

Abstract
Background To analyse the correlation between vaginal flora and cervical immune function of HPV-infected patients with cervical cancer. Methods Six hundred females with genital tract infections treated in Xuzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2014 to December 2016 were selected and divided into a high-risk HPV group (n=246) and a control group (n=354). The vaginal flora and human T lymphocyte subsets (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) were detected. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the risk factors for HPV infection. Results The numbers of CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ T cells of the high-risk HPV group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The two groups had similar numbers of CD3+ and CD8+ T cells. In the high-risk HPV group, the positive rates of Lactobacillus, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma hominis, mycetes, Ureaplasma urealyticum and bacterial vaginosis were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the positive rates of trichomonads between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that C. trachomatis and U. urealyticum were independent risk factors for high-risk HPV infection (P<0.05). Conclusion High-risk HPV infection in patients with cervical cancer was associated with vaginal flora and immune function. C. trachomatis and U. urealyticum were independent risk factors for high-risk HPV infection.

Abstract
Lichen planus (LP) is a cutaneomucosal chronic inflammatory disease characterized by a CD8+ cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL) infiltrate. In erosive oral LP, we found HPV16-specific activated CTL in lesions, supporting a pathogenic contribution of HPV16. Here, we investigated whether a similar scenario occurs in other clinical forms of LP and in lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (LSA), another chronic disease also affecting the mucosa and/or the skin. Blood CTL from LP and LSA patients expressed significant higher levels of granzyme B, perforin and CD107a proteins than healthy donors. Expansions of TCRVß3+ CTL, with presence of TCR clonotypes identical to those previously detected in erosive oral LP, were found both in blood and mucosal/skin lesions of LP, and not of LSA patients. These expansions were enriched with HPV16-specific CD8+ T-cells as shown by their recognition of the E711-20 immunodominant epitope. In LSA patients, the peripheral repertoire of CTL was oligoclonal for TCRVß6+ CTL. Finally, although patients with LP and LSA have developed antibodies against HPV16 capsid L1, antibodies against HPV16 E6 were only observed in patients with LP. Overall, our data collectively suggest an involvement of HPV16-specific CTL in different clinical forms of LP, not only in erosive oral LP, while a different scenario operates in LSA.

Abstract
HPV infection can lead to various diseases, from benign lesions to cancer, both in men and women. Health professionals with a high level of HPV knowledge will be effective in raising public awareness. This study aims to investigate the HPV knowledge level of midwifery and nursing students, who are future healthcare professionals. This study was carried out cross-sectionally. The data were collected between September and October 2022. The study was completed by 565 students. The form used is the 'Human Papilloma Virus Knowledge Scale (HPV-KS)'. The scale consists of 33 items and 4 sub-dimensions. The highest score to be obtained from the scale is 33 and the lowest score is 0. A high score indicates a high level of knowledge about HPV. In this study, it was found that nursing and midwifery students had low knowledge about HPV (11.45±6.79). The HPV knowledge level of midwifery students was found higher than nursing students (p=0.000). Female students scored significantly higher than males in the HPV testing knowledge questions (p=0.045) and HPV vaccine knowledge questions (p=0.022) sub-dimensions. The HPV knowledge score of the students who stated that they had sufficient knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases was also high (p=0.000). Awareness of HPV should be developed in nursing and midwifery students. It is important for nursing and midwifery students, who will provide health services after graduation, to have a high level of HPV knowledge in order to protect their own and society's health.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The association between human papilloma virus (HPV) and the pathogenesis of prostate cancer (PCa) is still controversial. Existing studies often lack information about clinical risk factors, are limited by their retrospective design or only use a single detection method for HPV. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 140 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP) for PCa at the Department of Urology, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, were prospectively enrolled. Knowledge of HPV and sociodemographic parameters were assessed with questionnaires. The following methods were used for HPV detection: RP specimens were tested for HPV DNA by PCR. If HPV DNA was detected, an LCD-Array hybridization technique was used for HPV subtyping, and immunohistochemical staining for p16 was performed as a surrogate marker for HPV infection. Serological titers of HPV-16 L1 antibodies were measured using an HPV-16-specific immunoassay. RESULTS HPV DNA was detected in 9.3% (13/140) of RP specimens, with HPV-16 being the most predominantly detected subtype (5/13 = 39%). HPV-16 L1 antibody levels were below the limit of detection in 98% of patients (137/140). We found no significant difference between HPV PCR-positive (HPV+) and -negative (HPV-) patients in terms of HPV-16 antibody levels, history of HPV-associated diseases, level of education or marital status. Seventy-five percent of all PCa patients had never heard of HPV before. An acinar adenocarcinoma of the prostate was the most frequently detected histologic type in both HPV+ (100%) and HPV- (98%) patients (p = 0.86). HPV+ patients had fewer positive biopsy cores (3.5 vs. 5.8; p = 0.01) and a lower maximal tumor infiltration rate per core (37% vs. 57%; p = 0.03) compared to HPV- patients. However, when analyzing the whole prostate and the lymph nodes after RP, there were no significant differences in TNM stage, Gleason score or tumor volume between both groups. In a subgroup analysis of all high-risk HPV patients (n = 6), we found no significant differences in sociodemographic, clinical or histopathological parameters compared to HPV- or low-risk HPV+ patients. CONCLUSION In our prospective study, we were not able to prove a clinically significant impact of HPV status on tumor characteristics in RP specimens. Most men with PCa had never heard of HPV, despite its proven causal association with other tumor entities.

Abstract
Nutritional support during radiotherapy is crucial to tolerating and completing oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) treatment. The impact of HPV status on nutritional support is debated. The objective was to evaluate the rate of Reactive Feeding Tube (RFT) use and determine its prognostic factors during definitive radiotherapy for OPSCC. All OPSCC patients treated from 2009 to 2014 were included in this multicentric retrospective study. The impact of tumor p16 status on the risk of RFT was assessed through multivariate analyses. Among the 543 patients, 103 patients required an RFT (19.0%). The use of RFT differed between centers (5% to 32.4%). In multivariate analysis, only tongue base involvement and concurrent chemotherapy were significantly associated with RFT (OR = 2.18 and 3.7, respectively). Tongue base involvement and concomitant chemotherapy were prognostic factors for RFT. HPV status was not a prognostic factor for enteral nutrition during radiotherapy for OPSCC.

Abstract
Persistent HPV16 infection is a major cause of the global cancer burden. The viral life cycle is dependent on the differentiation program of stratified squamous epithelium, but the landscape of keratinocyte subpopulations which support distinct phases of the viral life cycle has yet to be elucidated. Here, single cell RNA sequencing of HPV16 infected compared to uninfected organoids identifies twelve distinct keratinocyte populations, with a subset mapped to reconstruct their respective 3D geography in stratified squamous epithelium. Instead of conventional terminally differentiated cells, an HPV-reprogrammed keratinocyte subpopulation (HIDDEN cells) forms the surface compartment and requires overexpression of the ELF3/ESE-1 transcription factor. HIDDEN cells are detected throughout stages of human carcinogenesis including primary human cervical intraepithelial neoplasias and HPV positive head and neck cancers, and a possible role in promoting viral carcinogenesis is supported by TCGA analyses. Single cell transcriptome information on HPV-infected versus uninfected epithelium will enable broader studies of the role of individual keratinocyte subpopulations in tumor virus infection and cancer evolution.

Abstract
HPV, or Human Papilloma Virus, has been the primary causative agent of genital warts and cervical cancer worldwide. It is a sexually transmitted infection mainly affecting women of reproductive age group, also infecting men and high-risk group individuals globally, resulting in high mortality. In recent years, HPV has also been found to be the major culprit behind anogenital cancers in both gender and oropharyngeal and colorectal cancers. Few studies have reported the incidence of HPV in breast cancers as well. For a few decades, the burden of HPV-associated malignancies has been increasing at an alarming rate due to a lack of adequate awareness, famine vaccine coverage and hesitancy. The effectiveness of currently available vaccines has been limited to prophylactic efficacy and does not prevent malignancies associated with post-exposure persistent infection. This review focuses on the current burden of HPV-associated malignancies, their causes and strategies to combat the growing prevalence of the cancers. With the advent of new technologies associated with treatment pertaining to therapeutic interventions and employing effective vaccine coverage, the burden of this disease may be reduced in the population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, the cause of which is mostly human papilloma virus (HPV). The aim of this study was to determine the economic burden of cervical cancer and premalignant lesions associated with HPV infection from a societal perspective. METHODS The study is a partial economic evaluation (cost of illness), which was conducted cross-sectionally in the referral university clinic in Fars province in 2021. The prevalence-based and bottom-up approaches used to calculate the costs, the indirect costs were calculated by human capital approach. RESULTS The mean cost of premalignant lesions associated with HPV infection was USD 2,853 per patient, which 68.57% was direct medical costs. In addition, the mean cost of cervical cancer was USD 39,327 per patient, the largest share of which (57.9%) was related to indirect costs. The mean annual cost of cervical cancer patients in the country was estimated at USD 40,884,609 as well. CONCLUSION Cervical cancer and premalignant lesions associated with HPV infection imposed a significant economic burden on the health system and patients. The results of the present study can help health policymakers with efficient and equitable prioritization and allocation of resources.
