Biotransamination of Furan-Based Aldehydes with Isopropylamine: Enzyme Screening and pH Influence

Furan-based amines are highly valuable compounds which can be directly obtained via reductive amination from easily accessible furfural, 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF) and 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF). Herein the biocatalytic amination of these carbonyl derivatives is disclosed using amine transaminases (ATAs) and isopropylamine (IPA) as amine donors. Among the different biocatalysts tested, the ones from Chromobacterium violaceum (Cv-TA), Arthrobacter citreus (ArS-TA), and variants from Arthrobacter sp. (ArRmut11-TA) and Vibrio fluvialis (Vf-mut-TA), afforded high levels of product formation (>80 %) at 100-200 mM aldehyde concentration. The transformations were studied in terms of enzyme and IPA loading. The pH influence was found as a key factor and attributed to the imine/aldehyde equilibrium that can arise from the high reactivity of the carbonyl substrates with a nucleophilic amine such as IPA.

Influence of Type of Cross-Linking Agent on Structure and Transport Properties of Polydecylmethylsiloxane

The development of membrane materials with high transport and separation properties for the removal of higher hydrocarbons from gas mixtures is an important and complex task. This work examines the effect of a cross-linking agent on the structure and transport properties of polydecylmethylsiloxane (C10), a material characterized by high selectivity towards C3+ hydrocarbons. C10 was cross-linked with various diene hydrocarbons, such as 1,7-octadiene (C10-OD), 1,9-decadiene (C10-DD), 1,11-dodecadiene (C10-DdD), and vinyl-terminated polysiloxanes, of different molecular weights: 500 g/mol (C10-Sil500) and 25,000 g/mol (C10-Sil25-OD). Using a number of characterization methods (IR-spectroscopy, WAXS, DSC, toluene sorption, and gas permeability), it was revealed that a change in the type and length of the cross-linking agent (at the same mole concentration of cross-linking agent) led to a significant change in the structure of the polymer material. The nature of cross-linking agent affected the arrangement of the decyl side-groups of the polymer, resulting in noticeable differences in the solubility, diffusivity, permeability, and selectivity of tested gases (N2, CH4, C2H6, and C4H10). For instance, an increase in the length of the hydrocarbon cross-linker was associated with a drop of n-butane permeability from 5510 (C10-OD) to 3000 Barrer (C10-DdD); however, the transition to a polysiloxane cross-linker led to an increase in corresponded permeability up to 8200 Barrer (C10-Sil25-OD). The n-butane/nitrogen selectivity was significantly higher for diene-type cross-linkers, and the maximum value was achieved for 1,7-octadiene (α(C4H10/N2) = 104).

Mechanism of PVDF Membrane Formation by NIPS Revisited: Effect of Precipitation Bath Nature and Polymer-Solvent Affinity

A new interpretation of the mechanism of the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane formation using the nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) method based on an analysis of the complete experimental phase diagram for the three-component mixture PVDF-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc)-water is proposed. The effects of the precipitation bath's harshness and thermodynamic affinity of the polymer's solvent on the morphology, crystalline structure, transport and physical-mechanical properties of the membranes are investigated. These characteristics were studied via scanning electron microscopy, wide-angle X-ray scattering, liquid-liquid porosimetry and standard methods of physico-mechanical analysis. It is established that an increase in DMAc concentration in the precipitation bath results in the growth of mean pore size from ~60 to ~150 nm and an increase in permeance from ~2.8 to ~8 L m-2 h-1 bar-1. It was observed that pore size transformations are accompanied by changes in the tensile strength of membranes from ~9 to ~11 and to 6 MPa, which were explained by the degeneration of finger-like pores and appearance of spherulitic structures in the samples. The addition of water to the dope solution decreased both the transport (mean pore size changed from ~55 to ~25 nm and permeance reduced from ~2.8 to ~0.5 L m-2 h-1 bar-1) and mechanical properties of the membranes (tensile strength decreased from ~9 to ~6 MPa). It is possible to conclude that the best membrane quality may be reached using pure DMAc as a solvent and a precipitation bath containing 10-30% wt. of DMAc, in addition to water.

Chemoselective Lipase-Catalyzed Synthesis of Amido Derivatives from 5-Hydroxymethylfurfurylamine

The acylations of furfurylamine and 5-hydroxymethylfurfurylamine (HMFA) have been studied finding immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) as an ideal biocatalyst. CALB was used immobilized on two different supports (Novozyme 435 and EziG-CALB), with the polymer-coated controlled porosity glass carrier material from EnginZyme being an excellent carrier to yield an active and stable enzymatic preparation for the acylation of the primary amine group. The amount of the acyl donor in the reaction was a key factor to achieve the mono- and chemoselective N-protection of HMFA with large excess of ethyl acetate leading to the formation of the N,O-diacetylated product. Thus, a series of 16 nonactivated esters were used to selectively modify the amine group of HMFA, obtaining 9 hydroxy amides under mild reaction conditions and with quantitative yields through chromatography-free transformations. The influence of substrate concentration was studied, resulting in complete conversions in all cases after 22 h (100-1000 mM). Excellent results were observed at 100 and 200 mM of HMFA, while higher concentrations led to longer reaction times and, to some extent, the formation of the diacetylated product (up to 7% after 22 h at 1 M). After this optimization, a metric analysis was performed to confirm the high sustainability of the presented process (E-factor of 1.1 excluding solvents) upon intensification of the biotransformation to 1 g at 200 mM HMFA concentration. The possibility of obtaining orthogonally protected HMFA-derived amido esters has been achieved through a clean and sequential one-pot process using EziG-CALB, which involved the use of ethyl methoxy acetate as the nonactivated ester for N-acylation and the activated vinyl acetate for O-protection.

Controlled Swelling of Monolithic Films as a Facile Approach to the Synthesis of UHMWPE Membranes

A new method of fabricating porous membranes based on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) by controlled swelling of the dense film was proposed and successfully utilized. The principle of this method is based on the swelling of non-porous UHMWPE film in organic solvent at elevated temperatures, followed by its cooling and further extraction of organic solvent, resulting in the formation of the porous membrane. In this work, we used commercial UHMWPE film (thickness 155 μm) and o-xylene as a solvent. Either homogeneous mixtures of the polymer melt and solvent or thermoreversible gels with crystallites acting as crosslinks of the inter-macromolecular network (swollen semicrystalline polymer) can be obtained at different soaking times. It was shown that the porous structure and filtration performance of the membranes depended on the swelling degree of the polymer, which can be controlled by the time of polymer soaking in organic solvent at elevated temperature (106 °C was found to be the optimal temperature for UHMWPE). In the case of homogeneous mixtures, the resulting membranes possessed both large and small pores. They were characterized by quite high porosity (45-65% vol.), liquid permeance of 46-134 L m^-2 h^-1 bar^-1, a mean flow pore size of 30-75 nm, and a very high crystallinity degree of 86-89% at a decent tensile strength of 3-9 MPa. For these membranes, rejection of blue dextran dye with a molecular weight of 70 kg/mol was 22-76%. In the case of thermoreversible gels, the resulting membranes had only small pores located in the interlamellar spaces. They were characterized by a lower crystallinity degree of 70-74%, a moderate porosity of 12-28%, liquid permeability of up to 12-26 L m^-2 h^-1 bar^-1, a mean flow pore size of up to 12-17 nm, and a higher tensile strength of 11-20 MPa. These membranes demonstrated blue dextran retention of nearly 100%.

Film Distillation with a Porous Condenser for Seawater Desalination: Evaluation of Materials' Stability in the Tropical Climate of Vietnam

Desalination and treatment of wastewater has become critical for Asia regions with water scarcity. In this work, the concept of thin-film distillation equipped with a porous condenser (FDPC) was considered for its implementation in a tropical climate of Vietnam. It was found that samples with a concentration of biocide of 0.5 wt.% possessed lower biofouling, in contrast to the neat membranes. The FD-PC module was developed and water desalination experiments were conducted in Russia and Vietnam. The experiments showed high reproducibility of the results; in particular, the evaporation rate was (4.9/3.0) kg/m²h in Russia and (4.1/2.0) kg/m²h in Vietnam. In addition, as part of this work, the optimal configuration of the installation was calculated using solar collectors as the main energy source. The calculation showed high energy efficiency: specific energy consumption 0.1-0.5 kWh/m³.

Cell-Molecular Interactions of Nano- and Microparticles in Dental Implantology

The role of metallic nano- and microparticles in the development of inflammation has not yet been investigated. Soft tissue biopsy specimens of the bone bed taken during surgical revisions, as well as supernatants obtained from the surface of the orthopedic structures and dental implants (control), were examined. Investigations were performed using X-ray microtomography, X-ray fluorescence analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. Histological studies of the bone bed tissues were performed. Nanoscale and microscale metallic particles were identified as participants in the inflammatory process in tissues. Supernatants containing nanoscale particles were obtained from the surfaces of 20 units of new dental implants. Early and late apoptosis and necrosis of immunocompetent cells after co-culture and induction by lipopolysaccharide and human venous blood serum were studied in an experiment with staging on the THP-1 (human monocytic) cell line using visualizing cytometry. As a result, it was found that nano- and microparticles emitted from the surface of the oxide layer of medical devices impregnated soft tissue biopsy specimens. By using different methods to analyze the cell-molecule interactions of nano- and microparticles both from a clinical perspective and an experimental research perspective, the possibility of forming a chronic immunopathological endogenous inflammatory process with an autoimmune component in the tissues was revealed.

Measurements of the associated production of a W boson and a charm quark in proton-proton collisions at s = 8 TeV

Measurements of the associated production of a W boson and a charm ( c ) quark in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV are reported. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb - 1 collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. The W bosons are identified through their leptonic decays to an electron or a muon, and a neutrino. Charm quark jets are selected using distinctive signatures of charm hadron decays. The product of the cross section and branching fraction σ ( pp → W + c + X ) B ( W → ℓ ν ) , where ℓ = e or μ , and the cross section ratio σ ( pp → W + + c ¯ + X ) / σ ( pp → W - + c + X ) are measured in a fiducial volume and differentially as functions of the pseudorapidity and of the transverse momentum of the lepton from the W boson decay. The results are compared with theoretical predictions. The impact of these measurements on the determination of the strange quark distribution is assessed.

Membranes Based on PTMSP/PVTMS Blends for Membrane Contactor Applications

In this work, perspective polymeric materials were developed for membrane contactor applications, e.g., for the dissolved oxygen removal from amine CO₂ capture solvents. Several polymeric blends based on poly[1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne] (PTMSP) and poly[vinyltrimethylsilane] (PVTMS) were studied. The gas and water vapor sorption and permeability coefficients for the PTMSP/PVTMS blend membranes at different PVTMS contents (0-100%) were obtained under temperatures of 30 and 60 °C for the first time. As the PVTMS content increases, the O₂ and CO₂ permeabilities decrease by 160 and 195 times at 30 °C, respectively. The fractional accessible volume of the polymer blends decreases accordingly. The transport of the CO₂ capture solvent vapors through the PTMSP/PVTMS blend membranes were determined in thermo-pervaporation (TPV) mode using aqueous monoethanolamine (30%), N-methyldiethanolamine (40%), and 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (30%) solutions as model amine solvents at 60 °C. The membranes demonstrated high pervaporation separation factors with respect to water, resulting in low amine losses. A joint analysis of the gas permeabilities and aqueous alkanolamine TPV data allowed us to conclude that the polymer blend composition of PTMSP/PVTMS 70/30 provides an optimal combination of a sufficiently high oxygen permeability and the pervaporation separation factor at a temperature of 60 °C.

Effect of Acetone as Co-Solvent on Fabrication of Polyacrylonitrile Ultrafiltration Membranes by Non-Solvent Induced Phase Separation

For the first time, the presence of acetone in the casting solutions of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) in dimethylsulfoxide or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone was studied with regards to thermodynamical aspects of phase separation of polymeric solutions induced by contact with non-solvent (water), formation and performance of porous membranes of ultrafiltration range. The positions of the liquid equilibrium binodals on the phase diagrams of these three-component and pseudo-three-component mixtures were determined. For PAN-N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone-water glass transition curve on a ternary phase diagram was plotted experimentally for the first time. The real-time evolution of the structure of mixtures of PAN with solvents (co-solvents) upon contact with a non-solvent (water) has been studied. The thermodynamic analysis of the phase diagrams of these mixtures, together with optical data, made it possible to propose a mechanism of structure formation during non-solvent induced phase separation of different mixtures. The addition of acetone promotes the formation of a spongy layer on the membrane surface, which decreases the probability of defect formation on the membrane surface and keeps finger-like macrovoids from the underlying layers of the membrane. It was shown that the molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of the membranes can be improved from 58 down to 1.8 kg/mol by changing the acetone content, while polymer concentration remained the same.

Search for Higgs Boson Pair Production in the Four b Quark Final State in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

A search for pairs of Higgs bosons produced via gluon and vector boson fusion is presented, focusing on the four b quark final state. The data sample consists of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1}. No deviation from the background-only hypothesis is observed. A 95% confidence level upper limit on the Higgs boson pair production cross section is observed at 3.9 times the standard model prediction for an expected value of 7.8. Constraints are also set on the modifiers of the Higgs field self-coupling, κ_{λ}, and of the coupling of two Higgs bosons to two vector bosons, κ_{2 V}. The observed (expected) allowed intervals at the 95% confidence level are -2.3<κ_{λ}<9.4 (-5.0<κ_{λ}<12.0) and -0.1<κ_{2 V}<2.2 (-0.4<κ_{2 V}<2.5). These are the most stringent observed constraints to date on the HH production cross section and on the κ_{2 V } coupling.

High Efficiency Membranes Based on PTMSP and Hyper-Crosslinked Polystyrene for Toxic Volatile Compounds Removal from Wastewater

For the first time, membranes based on poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne) (PTMSP) with 5–50 wt% loading of hyper-crosslinked polystyrene sorbent particles (HCPS) were obtained; the membranes were investigated for the problem of effective removal of volatile organic compounds from aqueous solutions using vacuum pervaporation. The industrial HCPS sorbent Purolite Macronet™ MN200 was chosen due to its high sorption capacity for organic solvents. It has been found that the membranes are asymmetric when HCPS content is higher than 30 wt%; scanning electron microscopy of the cross-sections the membranes demonstrate that they have a clearly defined thin layer, consisting mainly of PTMSP, and a thick porous layer, consisting mainly of HCPS. The transport and separation characteristics of PTMSP membranes with different HCPS loading were studied during the pervaporation separation of binary and multicomponent mixtures of water with benzene, toluene and xylene. It was shown that the addition of HCPS up to 30 wt% not only increases the permeate fluxes by 4–7 times, but at the same time leads to 1.5–2 fold increase in the separation factor. It was possible to obtain separation factors exceeding 1000 for all studied mixtures at high permeate fluxes (0.5–1 kg/m²∙h) in pervaporation separation of binary solutions.

Search for Flavor-Changing Neutral Current Interactions of the Top Quark and Higgs Boson in Final States with Two Photons in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

Proton-proton interactions resulting in final states with two photons are studied in a search for the signature of flavor-changing neutral current interactions of top quarks (t) and Higgs bosons (H). The analysis is based on data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137  fb^{-1}. No significant excess above the background prediction is observed. Upper limits on the branching fractions (B) of the top quark decaying to a Higgs boson and an up (u) or charm (c) quark are derived through a binned fit to the diphoton invariant mass spectrum. The observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limits are found to be 0.019% (0.031%) for B(t→Hu) and 0.073% (0.051%) for B(t→Hc). These are the strictest upper limits yet determined.

Search for Resonances Decaying to Three W Bosons in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

A search for resonances decaying into a W boson and a radion, where the radion decays into two W bosons, is presented. The data analyzed correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} recorded in proton-proton collisions with the CMS detector at sqrt[s]=13  TeV. One isolated charged lepton is required, together with missing transverse momentum and one or two massive large-radius jets, containing the decay products of either two or one W bosons, respectively. No excess over the background estimation is observed. The results are combined with those from a complementary channel with an all-hadronic final state, described in an accompanying paper. Limits are set on parameters of an extended warped extra-dimensional model. These searches are the first of their kind at the LHC.

Probing Charm Quark Dynamics via Multiparticle Correlations in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV

Multiparticle azimuthal correlations of prompt D^{0} mesons are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV. For the first time, a four-particle cumulant method is used to extract the second Fourier coefficient of the azimuthal distribution (v_{2}) of D^{0} mesons as a function of event centrality and the D^{0} transverse momentum. The ratios of the four-particle v_{2} values to previously measured two-particle cumulant results provide direct experimental access to event-by-event fluctuations of charm quark azimuthal anisotropies. These ratios are also found to be comparable to those of inclusive charged particles in the event. However, hints of deviations are seen in the most central and peripheral collisions. To investigate the origin of flow fluctuations in the charm sector, these measurements are compared to a model implementing fluctuations of charm quark energy loss via collisional or radiative processes in the quark-gluon plasma. These models cannot quantitatively describe the data over the full transverse momentum and centrality ranges, although the calculations with collisional energy loss provide a better description of the data.

First Search for Exclusive Diphoton Production at High Mass with Tagged Protons in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

A search for exclusive two-photon production via photon exchange in proton-proton collisions, pp→pγγp with intact protons, is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.4  fb^{-1} collected in 2016 using the CMS and TOTEM detectors at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC. Events are selected with a diphoton invariant mass above 350 GeV and with both protons intact in the final state, to reduce backgrounds from strong interactions. The events of interest are those where the invariant mass and rapidity calculated from the momentum losses of the forward-moving protons match the mass and rapidity of the central, two-photon system. No events are found that satisfy this condition. Interpreting this result in an effective dimension-8 extension of the standard model, the first limits are set on the two anomalous four-photon coupling parameters. If the other parameter is constrained to its standard model value, the limits at 95% confidence level are |ζ_{1}|<2.9×10^{-13}  GeV^{-4} and |ζ_{2}|<6.0×10^{-13}  GeV^{-4}.

Observation of the B_{c}^{+} Meson in Pb-Pb and pp Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV and Measurement of its Nuclear Modification Factor

The B_{c}^{+} meson is observed for the first time in heavy ion collisions. Data from the CMS detector are used to study the production of the B_{c}^{+} meson in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV, via the B_{c}^{+}→(J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-})μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay. The B_{c}^{+} nuclear modification factor, derived from the Pb-Pb-to-pp ratio of production cross sections, is measured in two bins of the trimuon transverse momentum and of the Pb-Pb collision centrality. The B_{c}^{+} meson is shown to be less suppressed than quarkonia and most of the open heavy-flavor mesons, suggesting that effects of the hot and dense nuclear matter created in heavy ion collisions contribute to its production. This measurement sets forth a promising new probe of the interplay of suppression and enhancement mechanisms in the production of heavy-flavor mesons in the quark-gluon plasma.

AB1378 RELATION BETWEEN SHARP SCORE AND RADIOLOGICAL PROGRESSION IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS: A PROSPECTIVE OBSERVATION

to analyse rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-patients depending on their individual peak radiographic progression.

Methods

61 RA pts, mean age 50,0 [38,0; 59,0] yrs, mean disease duration 7 [4; 20] months were treated with MTX and biologics according to the Treat-To-Target concept. After first year of therapy management was following real clinical practice rules until the termination of the study (7 years FUP, median 7,7 [7,4;8,6]). The general characteristics of the group are presented in the Table 1. Hands and feet ultrasound (US) with grayscale (GS), power Doppler (PD), according to the criteria of OMERACT, were analyzed before initiation of treatment and in 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after. Radiographs were obtained at baseline, at 12 months, 4 years, and 7 years, radiographic changes were assessed using Sharp/van der Heijde modified scoring method. Structural damage progression was evaluated by change in the Sharp van der Heijde score (ΔSHS) between baseline and 1,4 and 7 year. We determined the individual peak radiographic progression (Δ SHS scores/time) in RA- patients.

Results

RA progression by 1 years FUP was identified in 10% (6 p) of pts, 4 years FUP was identified in 36% (22 p) of pts, by 7 years FUP was identified in 69% (42 p) of pts.

All pts divided into groups based increase in erosions according to radiography (Rg +) and without it (Rg-). In the group Rg + GS at baseline was significantly higher than in Rg- group (6 [5; 10] and 5 [1; 8], respectively, p=0.04).

We analyzed relation between SHS (erosion score and total Sharp score) 7 years FUP, individual peak radiographic progression and Δ erosion score and total Sharp score in the observation periods: 0-1 years, 1-4 years, 4-7 years and 0-7 years. The following correlations were identified of erosion score 7 years FUP with Δ erosion score in all observation periods (r=0,33 p=0,016, r=0,54 p=0,000, r=0,68 p=0,000, r=0,84 p=0,000, respectively) and with individual peak radiographic progression in the observation periods 1-4 years, 4-7 years, 0-7 years (r=0,54 p=0,000, r=0,49 p=0,000, r=0,84 p=0,000, respectively). The following correlations were identified of total Sharp score 7 years FUP with Δ total Sharp score in the observation periods 4-7 years, 0-7 years (r=0,43 p=0,000, r=0,34 p=0,007, respectively) and with individual peak radiographic progression in the observation periods 4-7 years, 0-7 years (r=0,43 p=0,000, r=0,34 p=0,007, respectively).

Conclusion

These data show that the radiological progression increases over time at different rates.

61 RA pts, mean age 50,0 [38,0; 59,0] yrs, mean disease duration 7 [4; 20] months were treated with MTX and biologics according to the Treat-To-Target concept. After first year of therapy management was following real clinical practice rules until the termination of the study (7 years FUP, median 7,7 [7,4;8,6]). Among them 40 patients with early RA, mean age 51,0 [43,0; 60,0], disease duration 5 [3; 6,5] months. The general characteristics of the group are presented in the Table 1. Hands and feet ultrasound (US) with grayscale (GS), power Doppler (PD), and destructive changes (erosion), according to the criteria of OMERACT, were analyzed before initiation of treatment and in 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after. Radiographs were obtained at baseline, at 12 months, 4 years, and 7 years, radiographic changes were assessed using Sharp/van der Heijde modified scoring method. Radiographic progression was documented based on Sharp/Van der Heijde modified score changes during the follow-up.

Results

52 ACPA+ (85%) and 9 ACPA− (15%) patients presented among the 61 patients with RA. RA progression by 4 years FUP was identified in 36% (22 p) of pts, by 7 years FUP was identified in 69% (42 p) of pts.

During the 7 years FUP 42 of 61 patients had radiographic progression: the count of erosion increased from 0 [0; 3] to 3 [1; 11]. At the same time, on the background of therapy during the first year, a decrease in ultrasound signs of inflammation was determined according to the GS and PD: from 6 [4; 9] to 4 [2; 6] p = 0.000 and from 2 [1; 6] to 0 [0; 2] p = 0.000, respectively, and increase in the number of joints with erosions (from 1 [0; 2] to 2 [0; 3], p = 0.000).

All pts divided into groups based increase in erosions according to radiography (Rg +) and without it (Rg-). In the group Rg + GS at baseline was significantly higher than in Rg- group (6 [5; 10] and 5 [1; 8], respectively, p=0.04). CRP at 3 months and at 6 months was significantly higher in RG+ group than in RG- group (4,15 [1,2; 8,7] and 1,2 [0; 3,5], respectively, p=0.03 and 2,35 [0,8; 10,1] and 0,4 [0; 4,3], respectively, p=0.025).

Conclusion

Thus, we obtained the first data on the important prognostic role of ultrasound in assessing the progression of early RA in a prospective seven-year follow-up.

Observation of B 0 → ψ (2S)K S 0 π + π - and B s 0 → ψ (2S)K S 0 decays

Using a data sample of s = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2017 and 2018 with an integrated luminosity of 103 fb - 1 , the B s 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 and B 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 π + π - decays are observed with significances exceeding 5 standard deviations. The resulting branching fraction ratios, measured for the first time, correspond to B ( B s 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 ) / B ( B 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 ) = ( 3.33 ± 0.69 ( stat ) ± 0.11 ( syst ) ± 0.34 ( f s / f d ) ) × 10 - 2 and B ( B 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 π + π - ) / B ( B 0 → ψ ( 2S ) K S 0 ) = 0.480 ± 0.013 ( stat ) ± 0.032 ( syst ) , where the last uncertainty in the first ratio is related to the uncertainty in the ratio of production cross sections of B s 0 and B 0 mesons, f s / f d .

Fabrication of Polyacrylonitrile UF Membranes by VIPS Method with Acetone as Co-Solvent

For the first time, a systematic study was carried out of the replacement of the low-volatility solvents N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) or dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) with the high-volatility solvent acetone in the casting solution of polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The effect of acetone’s presence in the casting solution on the performance of ultrafiltration membranes fabricated via vapor-induced phase separation (VIPS) was investigated. It was possible to replace 40% of NMP and 50% of DMSO with acetone, which resulted in the reduction of the casting solution viscosity from 70.6 down to 41.3 Pa∙s (20% PAN, NMP), and from 68.3 down to 20.6 Pa∙s (20% PAN, DMSO). It was found that 20 min of exposure to water vapor (relative humidity—85%) was sufficient to govern the phase separation, which was mainly induced by the water vapor. Regardless of the casting solution composition (15 or 20% PAN; DMSO or NMP), all membranes formed via VIPS possessed a sponge-like porous structure. The addition of acetone to the casting solution allowed the reduction of the transport pore size from 35–48 down to 8.5–25.6, depending on the casting solution composition. By varying the acetone content at constant polymer concentration, it was possible to decrease the molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) from 69 to 10 kg/mol. Membranes prepared from 20% PAN solution in an acetone/DMSO mixture had the lowest MWCO of 10 kg/mol with a water permeance of 5.1 L/(m²·h·bar).

Hydrophobic Ag-Containing Polyoctylmethylsiloxane-Based Membranes for Ethylene/Ethane Separation in Gas-Liquid Membrane Contactor

The application of gas-liquid membrane contactors for ethane-ethylene separation seems to offer a good alternative to conventional energy-intensive processes. This work aims to develop new hydrophobic composite membranes with active ethylene carriers and to demonstrate their potential for ethylene/ethane separation in gas-liquid membrane contactors. For the first time, hybrid membrane materials based on polyoctylmethylsiloxane (POMS) and silver tetrafluoroborate, with a Si:Ag ratio of 10:0.11 and 10:2.2, have been obtained. This technique allowed us to obtain POMS-based membranes with silver nanoparticles (8 nm), which are dispersed in the polymer matrix. The dispersion of silver in the POMS matrix is confirmed by the data IR-spectroscopy, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, and X-ray fluorescence analyses. These membranes combine the hydrophobicity of POMS and the selectivity of silver ions toward ethylene. It was shown that ethylene sorption at 600 mbar rises from 0.89 cm³(STP)/g to 3.212 cm³(STP)/g with an increase of Ag content in POMS from 0 to 9 wt%. Moreover, the membrane acquires an increased sorption affinity for ethylene. The ethylene/ethane sorption selectivity of POMS is 0.64; for the membrane with 9 wt% silver nanoparticles, the ethylene/ethane sorption selectivity was 2.46. Based on the hybrid material, POMS-Ag, composite membranes were developed on a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) porous support, with a selective layer thickness of 5–10 µm. The transport properties of the membranes were studied by separating a binary mixture of ethylene/ethane at 20/80% vol. It has been shown that the addition of silver nanoparticles to the POMS matrix leads to a decrease in the ethylene permeability, but ethylene/ethane selectivity increases from 0.9 (POMS) to 1.3 (9 wt% Ag). It was noted that when the POMS-Ag membrane is exposed to the gas mixture flow for 3 h, the selectivity increases to 1.3 (0.5 wt% Ag) and 2.3 (9 wt% Ag) due to an increase in ethylene permeability. Testing of the obtained membranes in a gas-liquid contactor showed that the introduction of silver into the POMS matrix makes it possible to intensify the process of ethylene mass transfer by more than 1.5 times.

Search for low-mass dilepton resonances in Higgs boson decays to four-lepton final states in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

A search for low-mass dilepton resonances in Higgs boson decays is conducted in the four-lepton final state. The decay is assumed to proceed via a pair of beyond the standard model particles, or one such particle and a Z boson. The search uses proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb - 1 , at a center-of-mass energy s = 13 TeV . No significant deviation from the standard model expectation is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on model-independent Higgs boson decay branching fractions. Additionally, limits on dark photon and axion-like particle production, based on two specific models, are reported.

Using Z Boson Events to Study Parton-Medium Interactions in Pb-Pb Collisions

The spectra measurements of charged hadrons produced in the shower of a parton originating in the same hard scattering with a leptonically decaying Z boson are reported in lead-lead nuclei (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. Both Pb-Pb and pp data sets are recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.7  nb^{-1} and 320  pb^{-1}, respectively. Hadronic collision data with one reconstructed Z boson candidate with the transverse momentum p_{T}>30  GeV/c are analyzed. The Z boson constrains the initial energy and direction of the associated parton. In heavy ion events, azimuthal angular distributions of charged hadrons with respect to the direction of a Z boson are sensitive to modifications of the in-medium parton shower and medium response. compared to reference data from pp interactions, the results for central Pb-Pb collisions indicate a modification of the angular correlations. The measurements of the fragmentation functions and p_{T} spectra of charged particles in Z boson events, which are sensitive to medium modifications of the parton shower longitudinal structure, are also reported. Significant modifications in central Pb-Pb events compared to the pp reference data are also found for these observables.

Search for strongly interacting massive particles generating trackless jets in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

A search for dark matter in the form of strongly interacting massive particles (SIMPs) using the CMS detector at the LHC is presented. The SIMPs would be produced in pairs that manifest themselves as pairs of jets without tracks. The energy fraction of jets carried by charged particles is used as a key discriminator to suppress efficiently the large multijet background, and the remaining background is estimated directly from data. The search is performed using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 16.1 fb - 1 , collected with the CMS detector in 2016. No significant excess of events is observed above the expected background. For the simplified dark matter model under consideration, SIMPs with masses up to 100 GeV are excluded and further sensitivity is explored towards higher masses.

Measurement of the Inclusive and Differential Higgs Boson Production Cross Sections in the Decay Mode to a Pair of τ Leptons in pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

Measurements of the inclusive and differential fiducial cross sections of the Higgs boson are presented, using the τ lepton decay channel. The differential cross sections are measured as functions of the Higgs boson transverse momentum, jet multiplicity, and transverse momentum of the leading jet in the event, if any. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13  TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1}. These are the first differential measurements of the Higgs boson cross section in the final state of two τ leptons. In final states with a large jet multiplicity or with a Lorentz-boosted Higgs boson, these measurements constitute a significant improvement over measurements performed in other final states.

Search for long-lived particles decaying to leptons with large impact parameter in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 Te

A search for new long-lived particles decaying to leptons using proton-proton collision data produced by the CERN LHC at s = 13 Te is presented. Events are selected with two leptons (an electron and a muon, two electrons, or two muons) that both have transverse impact parameter values between 0.01 and 10 cm and are not required to form a common vertex. Data used for the analysis were collected with the CMS detector in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 118 (113) fb - 1 in the e e channel ( e μ and μ μ channels). The search is designed to be sensitive to a wide range of models with displaced e μ , e e , and μ μ final states. The results constrain several well-motivated models involving new long-lived particles that decay to displaced leptons. For some areas of the available phase space, these are the most stringent constraints to date.

Evidence for X(3872) in Pb-Pb Collisions and Studies of its Prompt Production at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV

The first evidence for X(3872) production in relativistic heavy ion collisions is reported. The X(3872) production is studied in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV per nucleon pair, using the decay chain X(3872)→J/ψπ^{+}π^{-}→μ^{+}μ^{-}π^{+}π^{-}. The data were recorded with the CMS detector in 2018 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1.7  nb^{-1}. The measurement is performed in the rapidity and transverse momentum ranges |y|<1.6 and 15<p_{T}<50  GeV/c. The significance of the inclusive X(3872) signal is 4.2 standard deviations. The prompt X(3872) to ψ2S yield ratio is found to be ρ^{Pb-Pb}=1.08±0.49(stat)±0.52(syst), to be compared with typical values of 0.1 for pp collisions. This result provides a unique experimental input to theoretical models of the X(3872) production mechanism, and of the nature of this exotic state.

COVID-19: Multiorgan Dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 Is Driven by Pulmonary Factors

Multi-organ failure is one of the common causes of fatal outcome in COVID-19 patients. However, the pathogenetic association of the SARS-CoV-2 viral load (VL) level with fatal dysfunctions of the lungs, liver, kidneys, heart, spleen and brain, as well as with the risk of death in COVID-19 patients remains poorly understood. SARS-CoV-2 VL in the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, brain, spleen and lymph nodes have been measured by RT qPCR using the following formula: N^SARS-CoV-2/N^{ABL1 ×} 100. Dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 in 30.5% of cases was mono-organ, and in 63.9% of cases, it was multi-organ. The average SARS-CoV-2 VL in the exudative phase of diffuse alveolar damage (DAD) was 60 times higher than in the proliferative phase. The SARS-CoV-2 VL in the lungs ranged from 0 to 250,281 copies. The "pulmonary factors" of SARS-CoV-2 multi-organ dissemination are the high level of SARS-CoV-2 VL (≥4909) and the exudative phase of DAD. The frequency of SARS-CoV-2 dissemination to lymph nodes was 86.9%, heart-56.5%, spleen-52.2%, liver-47.8%, kidney-26%, and brain-13%. We found no link between the SARS-CoV-2 VL level in the liver, kidneys, and heart and the serum level of CPK, LDH, ALP, ALT, AST and Cr of COVID-19 patients. Isolated detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the myocardium of COVID-19 patients who died from heart failure is possible. The pathogenesis of COVID-19-associated multi-organ failure requires further research in a larger cohort of patients.

Search for Long-Lived Particles Decaying in the CMS End Cap Muon Detectors in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV

A search for long-lived particles (LLPs) produced in decays of standard model (SM) Higgs bosons is presented. The data sample consists of 137  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, recorded at the LHC in 2016-2018. A novel technique is employed to reconstruct decays of LLPs in the end cap muon detectors. The search is sensitive to a broad range of LLP decay modes and to masses as low as a few GeV. No excess of events above the SM background is observed. The most stringent limits to date on the branching fraction of the Higgs boson to LLPs subsequently decaying to quarks and τ^{+}τ^{-} are found for proper decay lengths greater than 6, 20, and 40 m, for LLP masses of 7, 15, and 40 GeV, respectively.

Measurements of the Electroweak Diboson Production Cross Sections in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=5.02 TeV Using Leptonic Decays

The first measurements of diboson production cross sections in proton-proton interactions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV are reported. They are based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 302  pb^{-1}. Events with two, three, or four charged light leptons (electrons or muons) in the final state are analyzed. The WW, WZ, and ZZ total cross sections are measured as σ_{WW}=37.0_{-5.2}^{+5.5}(stat)_{-2.6}^{+2.7}(syst)  pb, σ_{WZ}=6.4_{-2.1}^{+2.5}(stat)_{-0.3}^{+0.5}(syst)  pb, and σ_{ZZ}=5.3_{-2.1}^{+2.5}(stat)_{-0.4}^{+0.5}(syst)  pb. All measurements are in good agreement with theoretical calculations at combined next-to-next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics and next-to-leading order electroweak accuracy.

Combined searches for the production of supersymmetric top quark partners in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 Te

A combination of searches for top squark pair production using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 Te at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb - 1 collected by the CMS experiment, is presented. Signatures with at least 2 jets and large missing transverse momentum are categorized into events with 0, 1, or 2 leptons. New results for regions of parameter space where the kinematical properties of top squark pair production and top quark pair production are very similar are presented. Depending on the model, the combined result excludes a top squark mass up to 1325 Ge for a massless neutralino, and a neutralino mass up to 700 Ge for a top squark mass of 1150 Ge . Top squarks with masses from 145 to 295 Ge , for neutralino masses from 0 to 100 Ge , with a mass difference between the top squark and the neutralino in a window of 30 Ge around the mass of the top quark, are excluded for the first time with CMS data. The results of theses searches are also interpreted in an alternative signal model of dark matter production via a spin-0 mediator in association with a top quark pair. Upper limits are set on the cross section for mediator particle masses of up to 420 Ge .

Passive leg raising: can it help in the diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension due to left heart disease

 

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a frequent hemodynamic condition that is highly prevalent in patients with left heart diseases (LHD). Patients with PH-LHD usually have post-capillary PH, which is now defined by a mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) of &gt;20 mm Hg and a pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (PAWP) of &gt;15 mm Hg. When assessing PAWP in LHD patients, it must also be acknowledged that pretreatment with diuretics leads to lowering of left-sided filling pressures and thus PAWP, and this bears the potential of misclassifying post- as pre-capillary PH if the PAWP should be lowered to a value below 15 mm Hg. In this context, in cases of borderline PAWP (13–15 mm Hg) a “volume challenge” (500 ml of saline within 5–10 min) has been proposed in order to reverse the diuretic effect and to uncover “occult HFpEF”, but the therapeutic consequences of such testing remain unclear. In acute circulatory failure, passive leg raising (PLR) is a test that predicts whether cardiac output will increase with volume expansion. By transferring a volume of around 300 mL of venous blood from the lower body toward the right heart, PLR mimics a fluid challenge. However, no fluid is infused and the hemodynamic effects are rapidly reversible, thereby avoiding the risks of fluid overload (safety). There are those who believe, that most PH in connective tissue diseases (CTD), espesially systemic sclerosis (SSc) is post-capillary and that many patients are receiving pulmonary vasodilator therapy inappropriately.

The aim of this study to investigate possibility PLR test in the diagnosis of PH due to left heart disease.

PLR test is applied during 77 catheterizations in 69 patients with CTD and PH, among them 14 patients with established PH-LHD and 55 patients with precapillary PH (45 with PAH, 10 with PH, associated with SSc interstitial lung diseases). The diagnosis of PH-LHD was established in the presence of lesions of the left heart (CHD or cardiomyopathy), identified using echocardiography, coronaroangiography and heart MRI.

It was determined that despite approaching a valid difference between the PAWP 12 (7; 14) mm Hg and 8.5 (6; 12) mm Hg, p=0.06), in the PLR test, the level of PAWP increased significantly only in patients with PH-LHD (up to 17 (11; 19) mmHg than precapillary PH (9 (8; 13) mm Hg, p=0.00026). The increase of PAWP was 4 (3; 8) mm Hg and total 1 (0; 3) mm Hg, respectively, differences are valid (p=0.ehab724.19142). The PAWP was measured before the test, and on 5 and 10 minutes during test. It was found that the maximum increase in PAWP occurred 10 minutes from the start of the test.

The ROC analysis of PAWP in this two groups showed the area under the curve was 0.837 (0.737; 0,937), p&lt;0,0001. The cutt-off of the growth of PAWP was 4 mm Hg with a sensitivity of 82% and a specificity of 73%.

Thus, an increase in PAWP more than 4 mm Hg can indicates the presence of PH-LHD in the patient with CTD.

Measurements of angular distance and momentum ratio distributions in three-jet and Z + two-jet final states in pp collisions

Collinear (small-angle) and large-angle, as well as soft and hard radiations are investigated in three-jet and Z  + two-jet events collected in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The normalized production cross sections are measured as a function of the ratio of transverse momenta of two jets and their angular separation. The measurements in the three-jet and Z  + two-jet events are based on data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.8 fb - 1 . The Z  + two-jet events are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel of the Z  boson. The three-jet measurement is extended to include s = 13 TeV data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb - 1 . The results are compared to predictions from event generators that include parton showers, multiple parton interactions, and hadronization. The collinear and soft regions are in general well described by parton showers, whereas the regions of large angular separation are often best described by calculations using higher-order matrix elements.

Observation of Forward Neutron Multiplicity Dependence of Dimuon Acoplanarity in Ultraperipheral Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV

The first measurement of the dependence of γγ→μ^{+}μ^{-} production on the multiplicity of neutrons emitted very close to the beam direction in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions is reported. Data for lead-lead interactions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV, with an integrated luminosity of approximately 1.5  nb^{-1}, are collected using the CMS detector at the LHC. The azimuthal correlations between the two muons in the invariant mass region 8<m_{μμ}<60  GeV are extracted for events including 0, 1, or at least 2 neutrons detected in the forward pseudorapidity range |η|>8.3. The back-to-back correlation structure from leading-order photon-photon scattering is found to be significantly broader for events with a larger number of emitted neutrons from each nucleus, corresponding to interactions with a smaller impact parameter. This observation provides a data-driven demonstration that the average transverse momentum of photons emitted from relativistic heavy ions has an impact parameter dependence. These results provide new constraints on models of photon-induced interactions in ultraperipheral collisions. They also provide a baseline to search for possible final-state effects on lepton pairs caused by traversing a quark-gluon plasma produced in hadronic heavy ion collisions.

Precision luminosity measurement in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016 at CMS

The measurement of the luminosity recorded by the CMS detector installed at LHC interaction point 5, using proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016, is reported. The absolute luminosity scale is measured for individual bunch crossings using beam-separation scans (the van der Meer method), with a relative precision of 1.3 and 1.0% in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The dominant sources of uncertainty are related to residual differences between the measured beam positions and the ones provided by the operational settings of the LHC magnets, the factorizability of the proton bunch spatial density functions in the coordinates transverse to the beam direction, and the modeling of the effect of electromagnetic interactions among protons in the colliding bunches. When applying the van der Meer calibration to the entire run periods, the integrated luminosities when CMS was fully operational are 2.27 and 36.3 fb - 1 in 2015 and 2016, with a relative precision of 1.6 and 1.2%, respectively. These are among the most precise luminosity measurements at bunched-beam hadron colliders.

Constraints on the Initial State of Pb-Pb Collisions via Measurements of Z-Boson Yields and Azimuthal Anisotropy at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV

The CMS experiment at the LHC has measured the differential cross sections of Z bosons decaying to pairs of leptons, as functions of transverse momentum and rapidity, in lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02  TeV. The measured Z boson elliptic azimuthal anisotropy coefficient is compatible with zero, showing that Z bosons do not experience significant final-state interactions in the medium produced in the collision. Yields of Z bosons are compared to Glauber model predictions and are found to deviate from these expectations in peripheral collisions, indicating the presence of initial collision geometry and centrality selection effects. The precision of the measurement allows, for the first time, for a data-driven determination of the nucleon-nucleon integrated luminosity as a function of lead-lead centrality, thereby eliminating the need for its estimation based on a Glauber model.

Search for charged Higgs bosons produced in vector boson fusion processes and decaying into vector boson pairs in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

A search for charged Higgs bosons produced in vector boson fusion processes and decaying into vector bosons, using proton-proton collisions ats = 13 TeV at the LHC, is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 137fb - 1 collected with the CMS detector. Events are selected by requiring two or three electrons or muons, moderate missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large rapidity separation and a large dijet mass. No excess of events with respect to the standard model background predictions is observed. Model independent upper limits at 95% confidence level are reported on the product of the cross section and branching fraction for vector boson fusion production of charged Higgs bosons as a function of mass, from 200 to 3000GeV . The results are interpreted in the context of the Georgi-Machacek model.

Search for a heavy vector resonance decaying to a Z boson and a Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 Te

A search is presented for a heavy vector resonance decaying into a Z boson and the standard model Higgs boson, where the Z boson is identified through its leptonic decays to electrons, muons, or neutrinos, and the Higgs boson is identified through its hadronic decays. The search is performed in a Lorentz-boosted regime and is based on data collected from 2016 to 2018 at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137fb - 1 . Upper limits are derived on the production of a narrow heavy resonanceZ ' , and a mass below 3.5 and 3.7Te is excluded at 95% confidence level in models where the heavy vector boson couples predominantly to fermions and to bosons, respectively. These are the most stringent limits placed on the Heavy Vector TripletZ ' model to date. If the heavy vector boson couples exclusively to standard model bosons, upper limits on the product of the cross section and branching fraction are set between 23 and 0.3fb for aZ ' mass between 0.8 and 4.6Te , respectively. This is the first limit set on a heavy vector boson coupling exclusively to standard model bosons in its production and decay.

Viral Load and Patterns of SARS-CoV-2 Dissemination to the Lungs, Mediastinal Lymph Nodes, and Spleen of Patients with COVID-19 Associated Lymphopenia

Lymphopenia is a frequent hematological manifestation, associated with a severe course of COVID-19, with an insufficiently understood pathogenesis. We present molecular genetic immunohistochemical, and electron microscopic data on SARS-CoV-2 dissemination and viral load (VL) in lungs, mediastinum lymph nodes, and the spleen of 36 patients who died from COVID-19. Lymphopenia <1 × 109/L was observed in 23 of 36 (63.8%) patients. In 12 of 36 cases (33%) SARS-CoV-2 was found in lung tissues only with a median VL of 239 copies (range 18-1952) SARS-CoV-2 cDNA per 100 copies of ABL1. Histomorphological changes corresponding to bronchopneumonia and the proliferative phase of DAD were observed in these cases. SARS-CoV-2 dissemination into the lungs, lymph nodes, and spleen was detected in 23 of 36 patients (58.4%) and was associated with the exudative phase of DAD in most of these cases. The median VL in the lungs was 12,116 copies (range 810-250281), lymph nodes-832 copies (range 96-11586), and spleen-71.5 copies (range 0-2899). SARS-CoV-2 in all cases belonged to the 19A strain. A immunohistochemical study revealed SARS-CoV-2 proteins in pneumocytes, alveolar macrophages, and bronchiolar epithelial cells in lung tissue, sinus histiocytes of lymph nodes, as well as cells of the Billroth pulp cords and spleen capsule. SARS-CoV-2 particles were detected by transmission electron microscopy in the cytoplasm of the endothelial cell, macrophages, and lymphocytes. The infection of lymphocytes with SARS-CoV-2 that we discovered for the first time may indicate a possible link between lymphopenia and SARS-CoV-2-mediated cytotoxic effect.

MUSiC: a model-unspecific search for new physics in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

Results of the Model Unspecific Search in CMS (MUSiC), using proton-proton collision data recorded at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb - 1 , are presented. The MUSiC analysis searches for anomalies that could be signatures of physics beyond the standard model. The analysis is based on the comparison of observed data with the standard model prediction, as determined from simulation, in several hundred final states and multiple kinematic distributions. Events containing at least one electron or muon are classified based on their final state topology, and an automated search algorithm surveys the observed data for deviations from the prediction. The sensitivity of the search is validated using multiple methods. No significant deviations from the predictions have been observed. For a wide range of final state topologies, agreement is found between the data and the standard model simulation. This analysis complements dedicated search analyses by significantly expanding the range of final states covered using a model independent approach with the largest data set to date to probe phase space regions beyond the reach of previous general searches.

Measurement of the Wγ Production Cross Section in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and Constraints on Effective Field Theory Coefficients

A fiducial cross section for Wγ production in proton-proton collisions is measured at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in 137  fb^{-1} of data collected using the CMS detector at the LHC. The W→eν and μν decay modes are used in a maximum-likelihood fit to the lepton-photon invariant mass distribution to extract the combined cross section. The measured cross section is compared with theoretical expectations at next-to-leading order in quantum chromodynamics. In addition, 95% confidence level intervals are reported for anomalous triple-gauge couplings within the framework of effective field theory.

Observation of a New Excited Beauty Strange Baryon Decaying to Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-}

The Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass spectrum is investigated with an event sample of proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016-2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb^{-1}. The ground state Ξ_{b}^{-} is reconstructed via its decays to J/ψΞ^{-} and J/ψΛK^{-}. A narrow resonance, labeled Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-}, is observed at a Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass of 6100.3±0.2(stat)±0.1(syst)±0.6(Ξ_{b}^{-})  MeV, where the last uncertainty reflects the precision of the Ξ_{b}^{-} baryon mass. The upper limit on the Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-} natural width is determined to be 1.9  MeV at 95% confidence level. The low Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-} signal yield observed in data does not allow a measurement of the quantum numbers of the new state. However, following analogies with the established excited Ξ_{c} baryon states, the new Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-} resonance and its decay sequence are consistent with the orbitally excited Ξ_{b}^{-} baryon, with spin and parity quantum numbers J^{P}=3/2^{-}.

Measurements of production cross sections of the Higgs boson in the four-lepton final state in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

Production cross sections of the Higgs boson are measured in the H → Z Z → 4 ℓ ( ℓ = e , μ ) decay channel. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV , collected by the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb - 1 is used. The signal strength modifier μ , defined as the ratio of the Higgs boson production rate in the 4 ℓ channel to the standard model (SM) expectation, is measured to be μ = 0.94 ± 0.07 (stat) - 0.08 + 0.09 (syst) at a fixed value of m H = 125.38 GeV . The signal strength modifiers for the individual Higgs boson production modes are also reported. The inclusive fiducial cross section for the H → 4 ℓ process is measured to be 2 . 84 - 0.22 + 0.23 (stat) - 0.21 + 0.26 (syst) fb , which is compatible with the SM prediction of 2.84 ± 0.15 fb for the same fiducial region. Differential cross sections as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the Higgs boson, the number of associated jets, and the transverse momentum of the leading associated jet are measured. A new set of cross section measurements in mutually exclusive categories targeted to identify production mechanisms and kinematical features of the events is presented. The results are in agreement with the SM predictions.

POS0559 SPECKLE TRACKING BETTER DETECTS SUBCLINICAL MYOCARDIAL DYSFUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Background:

The risk of developing cardiovascular complications and death in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is 50% higher than in the total population. These clinical events depend from risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflammation and inflammatory myocardial infiltration. А new method for detecting early myocardial dysfunction is echocardiography using speckle tracking echocardiography.

Objectives:

to determine the frequency of myocardial dysfunction (lower global longitudinal epicardial strain of left ventrical (LV), diastolic dysfunction of left ventricle (LVDD)) using standard and novel echocardiographic methods in patients (pts) with RA prior to therapy with bDMARDs, examine its relationship with markers of inflammation.

Methods:

a total of 28 pts with a valid diagnosis of RA (ACR/EULAR, 2010): 23 f (82%) /5 m (18%) were included, median (Me) age - 56 [interquartile range (IR) 34;65] years, Me RA duration-14,5 [IR 7;87] months; all pts with RA demonstrated a high disease activity (Me DAS28 6.06, [IR 5,4;6,6]), seropositive for IgM RF (88%) and/or ACCP (84%) without any experience of administration of bDMARDs. The control group consisted of 10 healthy subjects, which were matched by sex and age. All pts were assessed for traditional risk factors for cardiovascular disease (ESC guidelines, 2011), echocardiography, tissue Doppler imaging, and the speckle tracking assessment of left ventricle longitudinal strain. DD was allocated according to the ESC guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure (2018). Arterial hypertension was detected in 5 pts with RA.

Results:

In pts with RA LVDD was more often detected (8 (31%) vs 0%, p=0.05) than in controls. The values of E LV (0.77 [0.62;0.94] ms vs 1.25 [1.03;1.51] ms, p=0.0001) were lower than in control group. Speckle-tracking method detected lower global longitudinal epicardial strain (–16.5 [-18.9; -13.6]% vs –21.58 [-22.1;-20.4] %, p=0.0001). 17(61%) RA pts showed a decrease global longitudinal epicardial strain. There were no between-group differences in left ventricular ejection fraction, LV sizes, LV myocardial mass index in RA pts with controls. There were correlations between the global longitudinal epicardial strain and DAS28 (r=0,9, p<0,02), tender joint score (r=0,6, p<0,02), radiological stage (r=0,6, p<0,008); the presence of systemic manifestations (r=0,5, p<0,03).

Conclusion:

In pts with RA frequently (61%) were detected lower global longitudinal epicardial strain, which are associated with a high activity of the inflammatory process. Speckle-tracking echocardiography is better at detecting early myocardial dysfunction than tissue Doppler.
