Association of lifestyles and multimorbidity with mortality among individuals aged 60 years or older: Two prospective cohort studies. SSM Popul Health 2024; 26:101673. Abstract
Lifestyles are associated with all-cause mortality, yet limited research has explored the association in the elderly population with multimorbidity. We aim to investigate the impact of adopting a healthy lifestyle on reducing the risk of all-cause mortality in older individuals with or without multimorbidity in both China and UK. This prospective study included 29,451 and 173,503 older adults aged 60 and over from Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) and UK Biobank. Lifestyles and multimorbidity were categorized into three groups, respectively. Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate the Hazard Ratios (HRs), 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs), and dose-response for all-cause mortality in relation to lifestyles and multimorbidity, as well as the combination of both factors. During a mean follow-up period of 4.7 years in CLHLS and 12.14 years in UK Biobank, we observed 21,540 and 20,720 deaths, respectively. For participants with two or more conditions, compared to those with an unhealthy lifestyle, adopting a healthy lifestyle was associated with a 27%-41% and 22%-42% reduction in mortality risk in the CLHLS and UK Biobank, respectively; Similarly, for individuals without multimorbidity, this reduction ranged from 18% to 41%. Among participants with multimorbidity, individuals with an unhealthy lifestyle had a higher mortality risk compared to those maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with HRs of 1.15 (95% CI: 1.00, 1.32) and 1.27 (95% CI: 1.16, 1.39) for two conditions, and 1.24 (95% CI: 1.06, 1.45) and 1.73 (95% CI: 1.56, 1.91) for three or more conditions in CLHLS and UK Biobank, respectively. Adherence to a healthy lifestyle can yield comparable mortality benefits for older individuals, regardless of their multimorbidity status. Furthermore, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can alleviate the mortality risks linked to a higher number of diseases.

Abstract
AIM To investigate differences in iron deposition between infarct and normal cerebral arterial regions in acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) patients using quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM). MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty healthy controls and 40 AIS patients were recruited, and their QSM images were obtained. There were seven regions of interest (ROIs) in AIS patients, including the infarct regions of responsible arteries (R1), the non-infarct regions of responsible arteries (R2), the contralateral symmetrical sites of lesions (R3), and the non-responsible cerebral arterial regions (R4, R5, R6, R7). For the healthy controls, the cerebral arterial regions corresponding to the AIS patient group were selected as ROIs. The differences in corresponding ROI susceptibilities between AIS patients and healthy controls and the differences in susceptibilities between infarcted and non-infarct regions in AIS patients were compared. RESULTS The susceptibilities of infarct regions in AIS patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls (p<0.0001). There was no significant difference in non-infarct regions between the two groups (p>0.05). The susceptibility of the infarct regions in AIS patients was significantly higher than those of the non-infarct region of responsible artery and non-responsible cerebral arterial regions (p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Abnormal iron deposition detected by QSM in the infarct regions of AIS patients may not affect iron levels in the non-infarct regions of responsible arteries and normal cerebral arteries, which may open the door for potential new diagnostic and treatment strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of preserved ejection fraction heart failure has significantly increased in persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is an early and important manifestation of preserved ejection fraction heart failure. The onset of heart failure in persons with diabetes is associated with diabetic neuropathy. However, the relationship among sudomotor function, which is an early manifestation of small fiber neuropathy, and LV diastolic function remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the association between sudomotor function and LV diastolic function in persons with T2DM. METHODS In total, 699 persons with T2DM were enrolled and divided into three groups according to electrochemical skin conductance (ESC) assessed using the SUDOSCAN device: "no dysfunction" group (NSF), "moderate dysfunction" group (MDF), and "severe dysfunction" group (SDF). LV diastolic function was assessed using Doppler echocardiography. To evaluate the relationship between ESC and echocardiographic parameters, Pearson's correlation analysis was performed. Additionally, logistic regression analysis was used to determine the association between LV diastolic function and ESC. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed to evaluate the performance of sudomotor function indicators in detecting impaired cardiac diastolic function. RESULTS There were 301 persons (43.06%) in the NSF group, 232 (33.19%) in the MDF group, and 166 (23.75%) in the SDF group. Compared to the NSF group, the MDF and SDF groups had higher A and E/e' and lower e' values (all p < 0.05). Pearson's correlation analysis showed that A and E/e' were negatively associated with foot ESC (FESC) and hand ESC (HESC), whereas e' was positively associated with FESC and HESC (all p < 0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors, binary logistic regression analysis showed that ESC was independently associated with impaired LV diastolic function (p = 0.003). The area under the ROC curve values for FESC and HESC were 0.621 and 0.635, respectively (both p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Deteriorating sudomotor function was associated with reduced diastolic function indicators. ESC can be used as a biomarker for detecting LV diastolic impairment.

Abstract
Background Streptococcus suis (S. suis) is a common gram-positive bacterium in pigs. Its natural infection sites are the upper respiratory tract (especially tonsils and nasal cavity), reproductive tract and digestive tract of pigs. It is a new emerging human and animal disease. A co-morbid pathogen that can cause serious infections in humans, including meningitis, sepsis, septic arthritis, and sometimes deafness. No cases have been reported in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. Case Presentation A 50-year-old male patient who had Worked as a butcher in a slaughterhouse for 20 years. Admitted to the hospital due to abdominal pain, joint pain, fever, and headache.His condition rapidly worsened causing altered consciousness, drowsiness and developed hearing loss. S. suis induced pyogenic meningitis complicated by arthritis was suspected based on the results of biochemical and culture analysis of the cerebrospinal fluid, and metagenomic next-generation sequencing, The patient's symptoms significantly improved after treatment with antibiotics such as ceftriaxone, meropenem, and linezolid, as well as supportive therapies including steroids and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and his hearing improved significantly.After about 2 years of follow-up, the hearing was significantly better than before, but hearing impairment still remained. Conclusion Streptococcus suis is endemic in pork-consuming and pig-raising countries, but can occur throughout the world, especially among individuals with occupational exposure to pigs and/or pork, such as slaughterhouse workers, butchers, farmers, etc. Strengthen science education among key groups. This case was diagnosed as Streptococcus suis meningitis combined with arthritis. However, abdominal pain in the early stage of the disease is very rare and is easy to be misdiagnosed. It is necessary to identify whether it is complicated by peritonitis. For hearing loss caused by Streptococcus suis infection, the use of hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment has obvious therapeutic effects.

Abstract
The fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is a major global pest causing severe damage to various crops, especially corn. Transgenic corn producing the Cry1F pesticidal protein from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Cry1F corn) showed effectiveness in controlling this pest until S. frugiperda populations at locations in North and South America evolved practical resistance. The mechanism for practical resistance involved disruptive mutations in an ATP binding cassette transporter subfamily C2 gene (SfABCC2), which serves as a functional Cry1F receptor in the midgut cells of susceptible S. frugiperda. The SfABCC2 protein contains two transmembrane domains (TMD1 and TMD2), each with a cytosolic nucleotide (ATP) binding domain (NBD1 and NBD2, respectively). Previous reports have demonstrated that disruptive mutations in TMD2 were linked with resistance to Cry1F, yet whether the complete SfABCC2 structure is needed for receptor functionality or if a single TMD-NBD protein can serve as functional Cry1F receptor remains unknown. In the present study, we separately expressed TMD1 and TMD2 with their corresponding NBDs in cultured insect cells and tested their Cry1F receptor functionality. Our results show that the complete SfABCC2 structure is required for Cry1F receptor functionality. Moreover, binding competition assays revealed that Cry1F specifically bound to SfABCC2, whereas neither SfTMD1-NBD1 nor SfTMD2-NBD2 exhibited any significant binding. These results provide insights into the molecular mechanism of Cry1F recognition by SfABCC2 in S. frugiperda, which could facilitate the development of more effective insecticidal proteins.

Abstract
Adding dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) to vascular endothelial cell-formed vessel-like structures can increase the longevity of these vessel networks. DPSCs display pericyte-like cell functions and closely assemble endothelial cells (ECs). However, the mechanisms of DPSC-derived pericyte-like cells in stabilizing the vessel networks are not fully understood. In this study, we investigated the functions of E-DPSCs, which were DPSCs isolated from the direct coculture of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and DPSCs, and T-DPSCs, which were DPSCs treated by transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), in stabilizing blood vessels in vitro and in vivo. A 3-dimensional coculture spheroid sprouting assay was conducted to compare the functions of E-DPSCs and T-DPSCs in vitro. Dental pulp angiogenesis in the severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mouse model was used to explore the roles of E-DPSCs and T-DPSCs in vascularization in vivo. The results demonstrated that both E-DPSCs and T-DPSCs possess smooth muscle cell-like cell properties, exhibiting higher expression of the mural cell-specific markers and the suppression of HUVEC sprouting. E-DPSCs and T-DPSCs inhibited HUVEC sprouting by activating TEK tyrosine kinase (Tie2) signaling, upregulating vascular endothelial (VE)-cadherin, and downregulating vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2). In vivo study revealed more perfused and total blood vessels in the HUVEC + E-DPSC group, HUVEC + T-DPSC group, angiopoietin 1 (Ang1) pretreated group, and vascular endothelial protein tyrosine phosphatase (VE-PTP) inhibitor pretreated group, compared to HUVEC + DPSC group. In conclusion, these data indicated that E-DPSCs and T-DPSCs could stabilize the newly formed blood vessels and accelerate their perfusion. The critical regulating pathways are Ang1/Tie2/VE-cadherin and VEGF/VEGFR2 signaling.

Predictive value of echocardiography combined with CT angiography for left atrial appendage thrombosis in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the detection rate of left atrial appendage thrombus (LAAT) formation in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients using three methods and the efficacy of combined electrocardiogram (ECG) and Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) in the diagnosis of LAAT. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 80 NVAF patients who underwent Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) at our hospital from August 2018 to August 2022 were included in the study. The baseline data of patients were observed, and the positive rates of LAAT formation by ECG, CTA, and TEE were compared. The efficacy of combined ECG and CTA in the diagnosis of LAAT was also evaluated. RESULTS Among the 80 NVAF patients, 23 were LAAT positive and 57 were LAAT negative. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of age, body mass index (BMI), N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide NT-probNP, fibrinogen, CHA2DS2-VASC [congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, Age (75 or older), diabetes mellitus, stroke, vascular disease, age (65-74), sex category] score, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, renal insufficiency, D-dimer, heart failure, and serum uric acid (p<0.05). The positive rate of LAAT detected by ECG combined with CTA was closest to the gold standard TEE, but the difference was not statistically significant (p>0.05). Statistically significant differences were found between LAAT positive and negative patients in various parameters related to left atrial and left ventricular dimensions and function (p<0.05), while some parameters showed no significant differences (p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS ECG combined with CTA has a high diagnostic value for LAAT formation in NVAF patients, with a high degree of confidence and reduced patient intolerance. The sensitivity, accuracy, and negative predictive value of ECG combined with CTA for the diagnosis of LAAT formation in NVAF patients are high and have good predictive value.

Abstract
For a long time, the well-known Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has been extensively studied and developed as a biological insecticide for Lepidoptera and Coleoptera pests due to its ability to secrete a large number of specific insecticidal proteins. In recent years, studies have found that Bt strains can also potentially biodegrade residual pollutants in the environment. Many researchers have isolated Bt strains from multiple sites polluted by exogenous compounds and characterized and identified their xenobiotic-degrading potential. Furthermore, its pathway for degradation was also investigated at molecular level, and a number of major genes/enzymes responsible for degradation have been explored. At present, a variety of xenobiotics involved in degradation in Bt have been reported, including inorganic pollutants (used in the field of heavy metal biosorption and recovery and precious metal recovery and regeneration), pesticides (chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, 2,2-dichloropropionic acid, etc.), organic tin, petroleum and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, reactive dyes (congo red, methyl orange, methyl blue, etc.), and ibuprofen, among others. In this paper, the biodegrading ability of Bt is reviewed according to the categories of related pollutants, so as to emphasize that Bt is a powerful agent for removing environmental pollutants.

Abstract
Sulfonylurea herbicides have been widely used worldwide and play a significant role in modern agricultural production. However, these herbicides have adverse biological effects that can damage the ecosystems and harm human health. As such, rapid and effective techniques that remove sulfonylurea residues from the environment are urgently required. Attempts have been made to remove sulfonylurea residues from environment using various techniques such as incineration, adsorption, photolysis, ozonation, and microbial degradation. Among them, biodegradation is regarded as a practical and environmentally responsible way to eliminate pesticide residues. Microbial strains such as Talaromyces flavus LZM1, Methylopila sp. SD-1, Ochrobactrum sp. ZWS16, Staphylococcus cohnii ZWS13, Enterobacter ludwigii sp. CE-1, Phlebia sp. 606, and Bacillus subtilis LXL-7 can almost completely degrade sulfonylureas. The degradation mechanism of the strains is such that sulfonylureas can be catalyzed by bridge hydrolysis to produce sulfonamides and heterocyclic compounds, which deactivate sulfonylureas. The molecular mechanisms associated with microbial degradation of sulfonylureas are relatively poorly studied, with hydrolase, oxidase, dehydrogenase and esterase currently known to play a pivotal role in the catabolic pathways of sulfonylureas. Till date, there are no reports specifically on the microbial degrading species and biochemical mechanisms of sulfonylureas. Hence, in this article, the degradation strains, metabolic pathways, and biochemical mechanisms of sulfonylurea biodegradation, along with its toxic effects on aquatic and terrestrial animals, are discussed in depth in order to provide new ideas for remediation of soil and sediments polluted by sulfonylurea herbicides.

Abstract
Recent studies have demonstrated the critical role of cardiac-resident macrophages (cMacs) in the maintenance of physiological homeostasis. However, recruitment of circulating monocyte-derived macrophages decreases cMac levels post-myocardial infarction (MI). Transplanting cMacs is not an ideal option due to their low survival rates and the risk of immunological rejection. However, extracellular vesicle therapy has the potential to provide a feasible and safe alternative for cardiac repair. In this study, cell membrane-modified extracellular vesicles (MmEVs) were developed for heart repair by modifying cMac-derived extracellular vesicles (mEVs) with monocyte membranes, resulting in immune evasion and sequential targeted localization to damaged regions through expression of CD47 on MmEVs and strong affinity between monocyte membrane proteins and CCL2. Additionally, to fully exploit the potential clinical application of MmEVs and achieve a better curative effect, thymosin β4 (Tβ4) was loaded into the nanoparticles, resulting in Tβ4-MmEVs. In vitro experiments indicated that both the MmEVs and Tβ4-MmEVs promoted cardiomyocyte proliferation and endothelial cell migration. Animal experiments suggested that MI mice treated with MmEVs and Tβ4-MmEVs exhibited reduced myocardial fibrosis and increased vascular density compared to the control group. Thus, we posit that these targeted nanoparticles hold significant potential for MI adjuvant therapy and may open new avenues for cardiac repair and regeneration. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from bioactive parent cell sources involved in pathological and repair processes for cardiovascular disease have emerged as a compelling strategy for regenerative therapy. In this study, we constructed monocyte membrane-modified extracellular vesicles loaded with a drug (Tβ4-MmEVs) for heart repair that exhibit extraordinary abilities of immune evasion and sequential localization to damaged regions owing to the presence of CD47 and the strong affinity between monocytes and damaged cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells. The bioactivities of Tβ4-MmEVs on enhancing cardiomyocyte and endothelial cell proliferation were validated both in vitro and in vivo. Effective development and implementation of therapeutically membrane-modified nanoparticles from homologous origins can provide a reference for adjuvant therapy in clinical MI management.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition of the trigeminal nerve affecting 12 per 100,000 people. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) delivered by both a non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery instrument and linear accelerators (LINAC) is a non-invasive alternative to surgical approaches. Although SRS in this setting is commonly performed, there lacks a consensus and comparative data on the optimal anatomical target with the two most common targets being the dorsal root entry zone (proximal) and retrogasserian zone (distal). This study aims to evaluate treatment outcomes in patients based on these two target locations. MATERIALS/METHODS This multi-center, retrospective analysis included patients treated for trigeminal neuralgia between 2017 and 2021 with GK and LINAC-based SRS who were followed for at least 1 year. All patients received a dose of 85 Gy prescribed to the isocenter, set at the dorsal root entry zone (proximal) or the retrogasserian zone (distal). Isocenter location was based on the preference of the radiation oncologist and neurosurgeon. Patient reported clinical pain relief was recorded as full, partial, or no pain relief after SRS. Among patients with full and partial pain relief duration of pain relief was recorded. Ability to achieve full or partial medication de-escalation was also recorded. Outcomes of patients in the proximal and distal target cohort were compared using time based univariate analyses using log rank hazards model. RESULTS We identified 86 eligible patients, of whom 54 patients (63%; median age 63, 72% female) were treated using a proximal target, and 32 (37%; median age 66, 71% female) were prescribed to a distal target. In the proximal and distal cohorts, patients experienced pain relief (either partial or full relief) at a rate of 74% and 90% and full pain relief at a rate of 46% and 31%, respectively (p = 0.011). The duration of pain relief was not significantly different amongst the two groups (p = 0.18). Partial medication de-escalation was more frequent in the distal target (75%) vs proximal (33%), while full medication de-escalation was more frequent with proximal (39%) vs distal (13%), p = 0.001. CONCLUSION This study contributes to the limited data evaluating the differences in outcomes between proximal and distal targeting for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with stereotactic radiosurgery. Overall, this study confirms that both approaches achieve a high rate of response in a difficult to control disease process. Our study suggests that a distal isocenter may be associated with higher rates of any type of pain improvement while a proximal isocenter may be associated with higher rates of complete pain relief. This data is hypothesis-generating and warrants further investigation into the effectiveness/toxicity differences of two approaches.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of different respiratory motion correction methods on PET images during chest PET/MRI scans. Methods: The data of 35 patients (24 males and 11 females, aged from 29 to 84 year) of pulmonary lesions with significantly high uptake in thoracic PET/MRI scan were retrospective collected from Jingling Hospital. Four different methods were used to reconstruct the PET data. Group A was the full-time 20 min without respiratory motion correction static acquisition (Static) as a control, group B was the end-expiration static collection (Q.Static), and group C was the multi-bins respiratory gating (Gated-Respiratory). In addition, the influence of the time being considered, group D was added for reconstruction in the first 1/3 period (6 min 40 s) of group A. Then, the maximum value (L-SUVmax) and the mean value (L-SUVmean) of the SUV of the lesion, the mean value (B-SUVmean) and the standard deviation (B-SUVsd) of the SUV of the background under each reconstruction results were measured, and for each lesion the signal-to-noise ratio (L-SNR) was calculated. In order to exclude the interference of the background, the mean of the relative SUV (L-dSUVmean) of the L-SUVmean relative to the B-SUVmean was also calculated. Finally, One-Way Repeated Measures ANOVA was used, and the post-hoc pairwise comparison between groups was tested by Bonferroni's modified test. Results: There was statistically significant difference among group B or group C compared to group A and group D in L-SUVmax, L-SUVmean and L-dSUVmean [L-SUVmax:group B vs group A or group D was 8.06±3.57 vs 7.73±3.45 or 7.61±3.50, group C vs group A or group D was 8.04±3.56 vs 7.73±3.45 or 7.61±3.50 (all P<0.05); L-SUVmean: group B vs group A or group D was 4.12±1.78 vs 3.98±1.72 or 3.91±1.71, group C vs group A or group D was 4.13±1.78 vs 3.98±1.72 or 3.91±1.71 (all P<0.05); L-dSUVmean: group B vs group A or group D was 3.52±0.16 vs 3.39±0.18 or 3.31±0.18, group C vs group A or group D was 3.53±0.18 vs 3.39±0.18 or 3.31±0.18 (all P<0.05)], but there was no statistically significant difference between group B and group C (all P>0.05). There were statistically significant differences between group D and group A in B-SUVsd (0.07±0.00 vs 0.07±0.00, P=0.023) and L-SNR (69.80±44.57 vs 85.35±68.98, P=0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between group D and group A in L-SUVmax, L-SUVmean, B-SUVmean and L-dSUVmean (all P>0.05). Conclusions: There was no significant difference in PET image quality between the Q.static and Gated-Respiratory group, both of the two groups were better than the Static group which with no Gated-Respiratory motion correction. If non-respiratory gated Static is used, the PET acquisition time is recommended to be 6 min 40 s.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish the provision and use of radiation personal protective equipment (PPE) and dosimetry amongst UK interventional radiology (IR) trainees and highlight areas of improvement in order to enhance the radiation safety. METHODS A survey questionnaire was designed by members of the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR) trainee committee via survey monkey and distributed to UK IR trainees via the BSIR membership mailing list, local representatives and Twitter. The survey was open from 04/01/2021 to 20/02/2021. Only IR trainees in years ST4 and above were included. RESULTS Of the 73 respondents, 62 qualified for analysis. Respondents (81% male) spent a median of 5.5 sessions (half day list) per week in the angiography suite and 58% (n=36) had difficulty finding appropriately sized lead aprons at least once a week. Overall 53% (n=33) had concerns about their radiation PPE. Furthermore 56% of trainees (n=35) experienced back pain among other symptoms attributed to wearing the lead aprons available to them. 77% (n=48) regularly wore lead glasses. For trainees requiring prescription glasses (n=22) overfit goggles were provided however 17 (77%) of these trainees felt the goggles compromised their ability to perform the procedure. Eye and finger dosimeters were used by 50% and 52% of respondents respectively. Compliance with body dosimetry was 99%. CONCLUSION Provision of radiation PPE and dose monitoring for IR trainees is suboptimal, particularly access to adequate eye protection or suitably fitting leads. Based on the findings of this survey, recommendations have been made to promote the safety and radiation awareness of IR trainees. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE Radiation protection practices for IR trainees nationally are poor. Provision of suitable eye protection and well fitting lead body protection is low.

Abstract
The phenomena of variability and interference in the natural frequencies of weight-sensing structures applied in complex working conditions must solve the problem of reducing or eliminating resonance under low-frequency vibrations to maximize stability, accuracy and reliability. The influence laws of the additional mass with relevant characteristics on the natural frequencies, which include the components of mass, stiffness and center-of-mass distribution, etc. Firstly, the theoretical formulas of the mathematical model are given based on different characteristics of the weight-sensing structure, and various combinations of additional masses on the weight-sensing structures are adjusted in the X-, Y-, and Z-directions. The key factors to be specifically considered in the theoretical formulas are discussed through simulation analysis and experimental validation. Secondly, the locking strength of the fastening screws of some components was changed, and another component was placed on the experimental platform in the experiment. The results show that the mass, center-of-mass, stiffness distribution and other factors of the additional mass have different effects on the natural frequencies, which are important for the demand for high-precision, high-stability weighing measurement. The results of this research can provide an effective scientific evaluation basis for the reliable prediction of natural frequencies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to explore whether RAD51 polymorphism confers risk to colorectal cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 240 patients with colorectal cancer were selected. 390 healthy people who participated in normal physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group. The polymorphism of RAD51 gene was detected by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. An updated meta-analysis was also conducted. RESULTS Meta-analysis found no significant association between the RAD51 polymorphism and CRC risk (all p>0.05). PCR-RFLP method detected three kinds of genotypes (GG, GC, and CC) in both the colorectal cancer group and the control group. A significant association was only found in GC genotype (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Our results demonstrated that RAD51 polymorphism has a crucial role in colorectal cancer risk and that GC genotype confers an increased risk of colorectal cancer in the Chinese population. The updated meta-analysis indicates that RAD51 polymorphism contributes no risk to colorectal cancer.

Abstract
Nicosulfuron is among the sulfonylurea herbicides that are widely used to control annual and perennial grass weeds in cornfields. However, nicosulfuron residues in the environment are likely to cause long-lasting harmful environmental and biological effects. Nicosulfuron degrades via photo-degradation, chemical hydrolysis, and microbial degradation. The latter is crucial for pesticide degradation and has become an essential strategy to remove nicosulfuron residues from the environment. Most previous studies have focused on the screening, degradation characteristics, and degradation pathways of biodegrader microorganisms. The isolated nicosulfuron-degrading strains include Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, Alcaligenes, Rhodopseudomonas, Ochrobactrum, Micrococcus, Serratia, Penicillium, Aspergillus, among others, all of which have good degradation efficiency. Two main intermediates, 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine (ADMP) and 2-aminosulfonyl-N,N-dimethylnicotinamide (ASDM), are produced during microbial degradation and are derived from the C-N, C-S, and S-N bond breaks on the sulfonylurea bridge, covering almost every bacterial degradation pathway. In addition, enzymes related to the degradation of nicosulfuron have been identified successively, including the manganese ABC transporter (hydrolase), Flavin-containing monooxygenase (oxidase), and E3 (esterase). Further in-depth studies based on molecular biology and genetics are needed to elaborate on their role in the evolution of novel catabolic pathways and the microbial degradation of nicosulfuron. To date, few reviews have focused on the microbial degradation and degradation mechanisms of nicosulfuron. This review summarizes recent advances in nicosulfuron degradation and comprehensively discusses the potential of nicosulfuron-degrading microorganisms for bioremediating contaminated environments, providing a reference for further research development on nicosulfuron biodegradation in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) can mutate frequently and many new strains have emerged thus far. The clinical and epidemiological characteristics differ with each dominant strain. OBJECTIVES Obtain an understanding of the clinical characteristics of patients infected with the Omicron variants of the SARS CoV-2. DESIGN Retrospective cohort SETTINGS: Teaching hospital in China. PATIENTS AND METHODS Data on sociodemography, signs/symptoms, hospital stay, viral shedding period, comorbidities, treatment options and final outcome were retrieved from hospital electronic medical record. We collected nasopharyngeal samples, laboratory data, and clinical data from patients admitted to the hospital with SARS CoV-2. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Clinical characteristics of the patients infected with Omicron variant of SARS CoV-2. SAMPLE SIZE 445 patients RESULTS: The median age was 43.0 years with a range from 2 to 75 years. Two-thirds of the participants were male and one-third were female. Almost half of the participants (51.9%) had no symptoms, whereas 48.1% had at least one symptom. Of symptomatic patients, 26.7% had mild symptoms and 21.3% had moderate symptoms. No patients were admitted with severe or critical symptoms. All patients discharged from the hospital after complete recovery without any serious complications or death. The most common symptom was cough followed by sore throat and fever. Less common symptoms were having sputum, stuffy nose, and muscle pain. Rare symptoms were weakness, headache, diarrhea, hemoptysis and nausea/vomiting. CONCLUSIONS All patients had mild to moderate symptoms. Shortness of breath was not a common symptom among the study group. No patients needed invasive oxygen therapy in this cohort. LIMITATIONS Single center and retrospective design. [Resting heart rate correlates with major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in patients with post-myocardial infarction ventricular aneurysms: a retrospective cohort study]. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the association of resting heart rate (RHR) with the prognosis of patients with post-infarction ventricular aneurysms. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 227 patients with post-infarction ventricular aneurysms admitted to our hospital during 2017-2019. The endpoint event was the occurrence of any major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) during the follow-up for 24 months. According to RHR measurements, the patients were divided into 3 groups with baseline RHR < 10%, 10%-90%, and >90%. The Cox proportional risk model and restricted cubic spline (RCS) model were used to analyze the effect of RHR on MACCEs. RESULTS During the 24-month followup, 90 patients (39.6%) experienced MACCEs. The fully adjusted RCS curves showed a nonlinear "U" shaped correlation between RHR and the occurrence of MACCEs. In the fully adjusted model, the risk of MACCEs increased by 3.01-fold (Hazard ratio [HR]=4.01, 95% CI: 2.07-7.76, P < 0.001) in patients with RHR>90%, as compared with patients with RHR of 10%-90%. In patients with RHR in 1-9th percentile, 10th-90th percentile and 91st-100th percentile, the incidences of MACCEs were 39.1%, 36.6% and 66.7% (P=0.027), the incidences of ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) were 17.4%, 2.7% and 4.8% (P=0.005), and the incidences of readmission for heart failure were 8.7%, 26.8% and 42.9% (P=0.036), respectively. CONCLUSION Continuous monitoring and management of heart rate range may provide guidance for prognosis prediction in patients with post-infarction ventricular aneurysms.

Abstract
PURPOSE Although systolic blood pressure (SBP) is associated with acute renal injury (AKI), the relationship between baseline SBP and prognosis in critically ill patients with AKI is unclear. We aimed to assess the linearity and profile of the relationship between SBP at intensive care unit (ICU) admission and in-hospital mortality in these patients. METHODS Data of AKI patients in the ICU settings were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III database. The association between seven SBP categories (< 100, 100-109, 110-119, 120-129, 130-139, 140-149, and ≥ 150 mmHg) and all-cause in-hospital mortality was assessed by Cox proportional hazard models. Restricted cubic spline analysis for the multivariate Cox model was performed to explore the shape of the relationship between SBP and mortality. RESULTS A total of 24,202 patients with AKI were included in this study. A typically U-shaped relationship was found between SBP at admission and in-hospital mortality. Among all SBP categories, the lowest risk of death was observed in patients with SBP around 110-119 mmHg, whereas the highest was noted in patients with extremely low SBP (< 100 mmHg), followed by those with extremely high SBP (≥ 150 mmHg). SBP showed a significant interaction with vasopressor use and AKI stage in relation to the risk of in-hospital mortality. CONCLUSIONS SBP upon admission showed a non-linear association with all-cause in-hospital mortality in critically ill patients with AKI. Patients with low or high SBP show an increased risk of mortality compared to patients with normal SBP.

Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the catalytic degradation produced by laccase in the detoxification of glyphosate, isoproturon, lignin polymer, and parathion. We explored laccase-glyphosate, laccase-lignin polymer, laccase-isoproturon, and laccase-parathion using molecular docking (MD) and molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) approaches. The results suggest that laccase interacts well with glyphosate, lignin polymer, isoproturon, and parathion during biodegradation. We calculated the root mean square deviations (RMSD) of laccase-glyphosate, laccase-lignin polymer, laccase-isoproturon, and laccase-parathion as 0.24 ± 0.02, 0.59 ± 0.32, 0.43 ± 0.07, and 0.43 ± 0.06 nm, respectively. In an aqueous solution, the stability of laccase with glyphosate, lignin polymer, isoproturon, and parathion is mediated through the formation of hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonds, and van der Waals interactions. The presence of xenobiotic toxic compounds in the active site changed the conformation of laccase. MDS of the laccase-substrate complexes confirmed their stability during catalytic degradation. Laccase assay results confirmed that the degradation of syringol, dihydroconiferyl alcohol, guaiacol, parathion, isoproturon, and glyphosate were 100%, 99.31%, 95.69%, 60.96%, 54.51%, and 48.34% within 2 h, respectively. Taken together, we describe a novel method to understand the molecular-level biodegradation of xenobiotic compounds through laccase and its potential application in contaminant removal.

Abstract
Circular RNAs play crucial regulatory roles in the progression of various cancers. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanisms of circRNAs in prostate cancer (PCa) proliferation and metastasis remain largely uncertain. Here, we performed circRNA microarray analyses to identify differentially expressed circRNAs in a normal prostate epithelial cell line and PCa cell lines. We found that hsa_circ_0063329 was significantly downregulated in PCa. A series of in vitro and in vivo functional assays showed that overexpression of hsa_circ_0063329 inhibits PCa cell progression, while silencing of hsa_circ_0063329 achieved the opposite effects. Mechanistically, bioinformatics analysis, RNA pulldown, RNA-seq and dual-luciferase reporter assays demonstrated that hsa_circ_0063329 exerts its effect by sponging miR-605-5p to derepress TG-interacting factor 2 (TGIF2) and inactivate the TGF-β pathway. In conclusion, hsa_circ_0063329 inhibits the proliferation and metastasis of PCa via modulation of the miR-605-5p/TGIF2 axis, and targeting hsa_circ_0063329 may provide a promising treatment strategy for aggressive PCa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thyroid cancer is one of the malignancy cancers. CircRNA, a non-coding RNA, plays an important role in the development of cancer. The relationship and roles of circ_0124055, miR-486-3p and MTA1 in thyroid cancer have not been reported. METHODS Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was performed to analyze the RNA levels of circ_0124055, miR-486-3p and MTA1. Western blot was conducted to analyze the protein levels of MTA1, Epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin) and Neuro cadherin (N-cadherin). Subcellular localization assay was used to analyze circ_0124055 location in thyroid cancer cells. Colony formation assay and 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay were carried out to analyze cell proliferation. Cell migration and invasion were analyzed by wound-healing assay and transwell assay. Flow cytometry assay was performed to investigate cell apoptosis. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay were employed to analyze the interactions among circ_0124055, miR-486-3p and MTA1. Immunohistochemical (IHC) assay was performed to assess the expression of Ki67, MTA1 and E-cadherin in tumor tissues. Thyroid cancer tumor growth in vivo was evaluated by tumor xenograft mouse model assay. RESULTS The expression of circ_0124055 was up-regulated in tumor tissues and cells. Knockdown of circ_0124055 could inhibit thyroid cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion and promote cell apoptosis, accompanied by the dysregulation of E-cadherin and N-cadherin expression. Circ_0124055 could target miR-486-3p, and miR-486-3p could target MTA1. MiR-486-3p inhibitor could restore the effect of circ_0124055 knockdown in the progression of thyroid cancer. Moreover, MTA1 overexpression weakened the inhibitory effects of miR-486-3p mimics on the progression of thyroid cancer. Further, circ_0124055 could influence tumor growth in vivo. CONCLUSION Circ_0124055 promoted the progression of thyroid cancer cells through the miR-486-3p /MTA1 axis.

Abstract
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a highly contagious disease in children caused by a group of enteroviruses. HFMD currently presents a major threat to infants and young children because of a lack of antiviral drugs in clinical practice. Drug repositioning is an attractive drug discovery strategy aimed at identifying and developing new drugs for diseases. Notably, repositioning of well-characterized therapeutics, including either approved or investigational drugs, is becoming a potential strategy to identify new treatments for virus infections. Various types of drugs, including antibacterial, cardiovascular, and anticancer agents, have been studied in relation to their therapeutic potential to treat HFMD. In this review, we summarize the major outbreaks of HFMD and the progress in drug repositioning to treat this disease. We also discuss the structural features and mode of action of these repositioned drugs and highlight the opportunities and challenges of drug repositioning for HFMD.

Abstract
Glyphosate, as one of the broad-spectrum herbicides for controlling annual and perennial weeds, is widely distributed in various environments and seriously threatens the safety of human beings and ecology. Glyphosate is currently degraded by abiotic and biotic methods, such as adsorption, photolysis, ozone oxidation, and microbial degradation. Of these, microbial degradation has become the most promising method to treat glyphosate because of its high efficiency and environmental protection. Microorganisms are capable of using glyphosate as a phosphorus, nitrogen, or carbon source and subsequently degrade glyphosate into harmless products by cleaving C-N and C-P bonds, in which enzymes and functional genes related to glyphosate degradation play an indispensable role. There have been many studies on the abiotic and biotic treatment technologies, microbial degradation pathways and intermediate products of glyphosate, but the related enzymes and functional genes involved in the glyphosate degradation pathways have not been further discussed. There is little information on the resistance mechanisms of bacteria and fungi to glyphosate, and previous investigations of resistance mechanisms have mainly focused on how bacteria resist glyphosate damage. Therefore, this review explores the microorganisms, enzymes and functional genes related to the microbial degradation of glyphosate and discusses the pathways of microbial degradation and the resistance mechanisms of microorganisms to glyphosate. This review is expected to provide reference for the application and improvement of the microbial degradation of glyphosate in microbial remediation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the correlation of CCBE1 expression in adjacent tissues of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) with pericancerous lymphatic vessel proliferation, cervical lymph node metastasis and survival outcomes of the patients. METHODS Lymphatic vessel density was quantified in pericancerous tissue sections of 44 cases of cT1-2N0 TSCC using D2-40 as the lymphatic vessel endothelial marker for calibration and counting of the lymphatic vessels. Of these 44 cases, 22 showed a relatively low lymphatic vessel density (group A) and the other 22 had a high lymphatic vessel density (group B), and the expression levels of CCBE1 in the adjacent tissues determined using immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence assay and Western blotting were compared between the two groups. The expression level of CCBE1 was also measured in another 90 patients with TSCC using immunohistochemistry, and all the patients were followed up for their survival outcomes. RESULTS Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting showed a significantly lower rate of high CCBE1 expression in group A than in group B (P < 0.05). Immunofluorescence assay showed co-localization of CCBE1 and D2-40 in the adjacent tissues of TSCC. In the 90 TSCC patients with complete follow-up data, a high expression of CCBE1 was found to correlate with lymph node metastasis and a poor 5-year survival outcomes of the patients (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION A high expression of CCBE1 in the adjacent tissues of TSCC is closely related with pericancerous lymphatic vessel proliferation, cervical lymph node metastasis and a poor 5-year survival of the patients, suggesting the value of CCBE1 as a potential prognostic predictor for TSCC.

Abstract
Mutations in the epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a driving factor that causes non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). The epithelial growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) is a crucial discovery in the treatment of lung cancer, particularly the efficacy of EGFR-TKIs is superior to that of the standard chemotherapy for patients with EGFR mutation-positive advanced NSCLC. Patients with NSCLC use EGFR-TKIs and other medications simultaneously is commonly seen, especially among those with comorbidities, which increases the risk of drug-drug interactions (DDIs) of EGFR-TKIs. The most common mechanisms underlying the DDIs of EGFR-TKIs are modulations of cytochrome P450 (CYP) and drug transporters [including P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP)], as well as gastrointestinal acid-inhibitory drugs [proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and H(2) receptor antagonists (H(2)RA)]. Inhibitors or inducers of CYP enzymes and drug transporters can inhibit or accelerate the metabolism of EGFR-TKIs, which increase or reduce the exposure of EGFR-TKIs, thereby affect the efficacy and safety of EGFR-TKIs. In addition, PPIs or H(2)RA can decrease the solubility, bioavailability and efficacy of EGFR-TKIs. This review summarizes the mechanisms of DDIs of gefitinib, erlotinib, icotinib, afatinib, dacomitinib and osimertinib; the management recommendations for DDIs of those EGFR-TKIs from the Chinese and global guideline, as well as from the recent pre-clinical and clinical studies, which provide the reference and evidence for managing the combination therapies of EGFR-TKIs and other medications in clinics.

Abstract
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common form of kidney cancer. Systemic therapy is the preferred method to eliminate residual cancer cells after surgery and prolong the survival of patients with inoperable RCC. A variety of molecular targeted and immunological therapies have been developed to improve the survival rate and prognosis of RCC patients based on their chemotherapy-resistant properties. However, owing to tumor heterogeneity and drug resistance, targeted and immunological therapies lack complete and durable anti-tumor responses; therefore, understanding the mechanisms of systemic therapy resistance and improving clinical curative effects in the treatment of RCC remain challenging. In vitro models with traditional RCC cell lines or primary cell culture, as well as in vivo models with cell or patient-derived xenografts, are used to explore the drug resistance mechanisms of RCC and screen new targeted therapeutic drugs. Here, we review the established methods and applications of in vivo and in vitro RCC drug resistance models, with the aim of improving our understanding of its resistance mechanisms, increasing the efficacy of combination medications, and providing a theoretical foundation for the development and application of new drugs, drug screening, and treatment guidelines for RCC patients.

Abstract
It is extremely imminent to study a new strategy to manage agricultural pest like Plutella xylostella (P. xylostella) which is currently resistant to most of pesticides, including three domain-Cry toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). In this study, we reported a phage displayed single domain antibody screening from human domain antibody (DAb) library targeted on Spodoptera frugiperda 9 (Sf9) cells expressed Cry1Ac toxin receptor, ATP-dependent binding cassette transporter C2 in P. xylostella (PxABCC2). After three rounds of panning, three cytotoxic antibodies (1D2, 2B7, 3C4) were obtained from thirty-eight antibodies and displayed high binding ability towards PxABCC2-expressed Sf9 cells. Through homology modeling and molecular docking, the interaction mode indicated that the most cytotoxic 1D2 of the three antibodies presented the lowest binding free energy required and had the most hydrogen bond formed with PxABCC2 in molecular docking analysis. Functional assay of key regions in 1D2 via Alanine replacement indicated that complementarity-determining region (CDR) 3 played a crucial role in antibody exerts binding activity and cytotoxicity. This study provides the first trial for discovering of potential cytotoxic antibodies from the human antibody library via specific receptor-expressed insect cell system biopanning.

Abstract
Hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection is still a major infectious disease threatening children’s life and health in the absence of effective antiviral drugs due to its high prevalence and neurovirulence. A study of EV71-specific host response might shed some light on the reason behind its unique epidemiologic features and help to find means to conquer EV71 infection. We reported that host heat shock protein A6 (HSPA6) was induced by EV71 infection and involved infection in both Rhabdomyosarcoma (RD) cells and neurogliocytes. Most importantly, we found that EV71 did not induce the expression of other heat shock proteins HSPA1, HSPA8, and HSPB1 under the same conditions, and other HFMD-associated viruses including CVA16, CVA6, CVA10, and CVB1-3 did not induce the upregulation of HSPA6. In addition, EV71 infection enhanced the cytoplasmic aggregation of HSPA6 and its colocalization with viral capsid protein VP1. These findings suggest that HSPA6 is a potential EV71-specific host factor worthy of further study.

Abstract
Insect midgut cadherins function as receptors and play critical roles as protein receptors of insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxins used as biopesticides and in Bt transgenic crops worldwide. Here, we cloned and characterized the full-length midgut cadherin (CmCad) cDNA from the rice leaffolder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis), a destructive pest of rice in many Asian countries. Expression of recombinant proteins corresponding to the extracellular domain of CmCad allowed testing binding of Cry proteins. Results from in vitro ligand blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays supported that the extracellular domain of CmCad contains regions recognized by both Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa. Molecular modelling and docking simulations indicated that binding to both Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa is localized primarily within a CmCad motif corresponding to residues T1417-D1435. A recombinant CmCad protein produced without residues T1417-D1435 lacked binding to Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa, confirmed our modelling predictions that CmCad has a shared Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa binding site. The potential existence of a shared binding region in CmCad suggests that caution should be taken when using combinations of Cry1Ac and Cry2Aa in pyramided transgenic rice, as their combined use could speed the evolution of resistance to both toxins.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Broad use of insecticidal Cry proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis in biopesticides and transgenic crops has resulted in cases of practical field resistance, highlighting the need for novel approaches to insect control. Previously we described an anti-Cry1Ab idiotypic-antibody (B12-scFv) displaying toxicity against rice leafroller (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) larvae, supporting the potential of antibodies for pest control. The goal of the present study was to generate insecticidal antibodies against diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) larvae. RESULTS Four genetically engineered antibodies (GEAbs) were designed in silico from B12-scFv using three-dimensional (3D) structure and docking predictions to alkaline phosphatase (ALP) as a Cry1Ac receptor in P. xylostella. Among these GEAbs, the GEAb-dVL antibody consisting of two light chains had overlapping binding sites with Cry1A and Cry1B proteins and displayed high binding affinity to P. xylostella midgut brush border membrane (BBM) proteins. Proteins in BBM identified by pull-down assays as binding to GEAb-dVL included an ABC transporter and V-ATPase subunit A protein. Despite lacking the α-helical structures in Cry1A that are responsible for pore formation, ingestion of GEAb-dVL disrupted the P. xylostella larval midgut epithelium and resulted in toxicity. Apoptotic genes were activated in gut cells upon treatment with GEAb-dVL . CONCLUSION This study describes the first insecticidal GEAb targeting P. xylostella by mimicking Cry proteins. Data support that GEAb-dVL toxicity is associated to activation of intracellular cell death pathways, in contrast to pore-formation associated toxicity of Cry proteins. This work provides a foundation for the design of novel insecticidal antibodies for insect control. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
We aimed to explore the real experience of patients after liver transplantation in the intensive care unit (ICU).Objective sampling method was used to select patients transferred to the ICU in 10 hospitals in Zhuhai from May 2018 to August 2020. Patients need liver transplantation due to advanced liver cancer and decompensated cirrhosis. The eligibility criteria of patients mainly included liver transplant patients who were clear-minded and willing to participate in the study and had stayed in ICU. Phenomenological research methods and in-depth interviews were used in this qualitative study.The results showed that the true experience of patients after liver transplantation during ICU stay was summarized into four themes. The strengths of our qualitative research are that we can find the trend from a phenomenon through interviews and other methods to provide a directional foundation for future quantitative research. Its limitations are that it requires a lot of manpower and time, and its objectivity and universality are limited.Hospitalization experience in the ICU may lead to many negative experiences for liver transplant patients. Nurses should fully understand and pay attention to the psychological changes in patients. Nurses should take effective targeted measures to reduce or eliminate patients' fear of ICU stay and promote rehabilitation.

The rheological behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-filled polypropylene (PP) nanocomposites with different filler loadings was experimentally studied and simulated using constitutive modeling. Rheological behavior was characterized in small amplitude oscillatory shear (SAOS) flow, large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) flow, startup of shear flow, steady shear flow, and stress relaxation after the imposition of a step shear strain. Virgin PP and PP with CNT loadings of 1, 3, and 5 wt% were used. The formation of a rheological percolation network was observed at these loadings. The Leonov and Simhambhatla-Leonov models were used to simulate the rheological behavior. In the linear region, the simulations provided good predictions of the experimental data for both the unfilled and filled PP. In the nonlinear region, the simulations also provided good results for the virgin PP and satisfactory results for the PP/1 wt%CNT nanocomposite under most flow conditions. However, for the other two nanocomposites the model showed mixed results.

Abstract
Wound healing is a complicated process that influences patient's life quality. Plant-based polysaccharide has recently gained interest in its use in wound dressing materials because of its biological compatibility, natural abundance, and ideal physiochemical properties. The present study reveals the potential of polysaccharide isolated from Moringa oleifera seed (MOS-PS) and its nanocomposite with silver (MOS-PS-AgNPs) as alternative materials for wound dressing. First, MOS-PS was isolated and structurally characterized by TLC, HPLC, FTIR, NMR, and GPC analyses. A green and simple method was used to synthesize AgNPs using MOS-PS as a stabilizing and reducing agent. The size, morphology, and structure of the MOS-PS-AgNPs were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and zeta potential analysis. The results showed that the MOS-PS-AgNPs were spherically shaped, having no cytotoxicity toward mouse fibroblasts cells and promoting their in-vitro migration. Moreover, the MOS-PS-AgNPs displayed strong anti-microbial activity against wound infectious pathogenic bacteria. Finally, the MOS-PS-AgNPs were used for dressing animal wounds and its preliminary mechanism was studied by RT-PCR and histological analysis. The results showed that the MOS-PS-AgNPs can promote wound contraction and internal tissue growth well. Overall, our results indicated that the MOS-PS-AgNPs might be an excellent candidate for use as an optimal wound dressing material.

Abstract
The anti-idiotypic antibody is widely used in the field of immunology to simulate structural features or even induce the biological activity of antigens. In this study, we obtained seven anti-idiotypic single-chain variable fragments (scFv) antibodies of Cry2Aa toxin from a phage-displayed mutant library constructed using error-prone PCR technique. A mutant designated 2-12B showed the best binding ability amongst all anti-idiotypic scFv isolates to Plutella xylostella brush border membrane vesicles (BBMVs). 2-12B and Cry2Aa toxin shared a potential receptor of polycalin in P. xylostella BBMVs. Homology modeling and molecular docking demonstrated that 2-12B and Cry2Aa toxin have seven common binding amino acid residues in polycalin. Insect bioassay results suggested that 2-12 had insecticidal efficacy against P. xylostella larvae. These results indicated that the Cry2Aa anti-idiotypic scFv antibody 2-12B partially mimicked the structure and function of Cry2Aa toxin. The anti-idiotypic scFv antibody provides the basic material for the future study of surrogate molecules or new insecticidal materials.

Abstract
Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a severe injury to the ischemic myocardium following the recovery of blood flow. Currently, there is no effective treatment for MIRI in clinical practice. Over the past two decades, biological studies of hypoxia and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) have notably improved understanding of oxygen homeostasis. HIF-1α is an oxygen-sensitive transcription factor that mediates adaptive metabolic responses to hypoxia and serves a pivotal role in MIRI. In particular, previous studies have demonstrated that HIF-1α improves mitochondrial function, decreases cellular oxidative stress, activates cardioprotective signaling pathways and downstream protective genes and interacts with non-coding RNAs. The present review summarizes the roles and associated mechanisms of action of HIF-1α in MIRI. In addition, HIF-1α-associated MIRI intervention, including natural compounds, exosomes, ischemic preconditioning and ischemic post-processing are presented. The present review provides evidence for the roles of HIF-1α activation in MIRI and supports its use as a therapeutic target.
