Abstract
BACKGROUND In many neurological disorders, including Alzheimer disease, early olfactory dysfunction is observed. OBJECTIVE In order to determine if deficits in olfactory memory are present in the elderly and if olfactory dysfunction correlates with cognitive impairment in the aging population, olfactory testing has been done on seniors from the NuAge cohort accepting to participate in the Olfactory Response Cognition and Aging (ORCA) secondary sub-study. The t-Mini Mental Statement Examination and the Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status tests were done to assess cognition levels. RESULTS Overall, 94% of the ORCA cohort displayed olfactory dysfunction. Deficits in olfactory memory were also present. A correlation was observed between olfactory function and cognitive test scores. Moreover, in women who smoked, there was an association between olfactory memory and cognitive scores. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that olfactory dysfunction may predict impending cognitive decline and highlights the need for olfactory training in seniors to improve olfaction and overall well-being.

Abstract
Ensuring food security with severe shortages of freshwater and drastic changes in climatic conditions in arid countries requires the urgent development of feasible and user-friendly strategies. Relatively little is known regarding the impacts of the co-application (Co-A) of salicylic acid (SA), macronutrients (Mac), and micronutrients (Mic) through foliar (F) and soil (S) application strategies on field crops under arid and semiarid climatic conditions. A two-year field experiment was designed to compare the impacts of seven (Co-A) treatments of this strategy, including a control, FSA + Mic, FSA + Mac, SSA + FMic, SSA + FSA + Mic, SSA + Mic + FSA, and SSA + Mic + FMac + Mic on the agronomic performance, physiological attributes, and water productivity (WP) of wheat under normal (NI) and limited (LMI) irrigation conditions. The results reveal that the LMI treatment caused a significant reduction in various traits related to the growth (plant height, tiller and green leaf numbers, leaf area index, and shoot dry weight), physiology (relative water content and chlorophyll pigments), and yield components (spike length, grain weight and grain numbers per spike, thousand-grain weight, and harvest index) of wheat by 11.4-47.8%, 21.8-39.8%, and 16.4-42.3%, respectively, while WP increased by 13.3% compared to the NI treatment. The different Co-A treatments have shown a 0.2-23.7%, 3.6-26.7%, 2.3-21.6%, and 12.2-25.0% increase in various traits related to growth, physiology, yield, and WP, respectively, in comparison to the control treatment. The SSA+ FSA + Mic was determined as the best treatment that achieved the best results for all studied traits under both irrigation conditions, followed by FSA + Mic and SSA + Mic + FSA under LMI in addition to FSA + Mac under NI conditions. It can be concluded that the Co-A of essential plant nutrients along with SA accomplished a feasible, profitable, and easy-to-use strategy to attenuate the negative impacts of deficit irrigation stress, along with the further improvement in the growth and production of wheat under NI conditions.

Abstract
Olfactory dysfunction is a common symptom in neurodegenerative disorders and is regarded as a potential early predictor of impending cognitive decline. This study was undertaken in order to determine if olfactory dysfunction observed in the elderly is due to a general loss of smell or the inability to detect specific odours, and if misidentification of odours correlates with cognitive scores. Seniors for the Olfactory Response and Cognition in Aging (ORCA) sub-study were recruited from the Quebec Nutrition and Successful Aging (NuAge) cohort. The University of Pennsylvania smell identification test (UPSIT) was performed to measure olfactory function and the telephone Mini Mental State Examination (t-MMSE) and the French version of the Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status Modified (F-TICS-m) for cognitive status. The results demonstrate that seniors exhibit specific olfactory loss and had severe difficulty in particular in identifying lemon, pizza, fruit punch, cheddar cheese and lime. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the ability to detect certain odours between the sexes. Results also showed that misidentification of certain scents was associated with cognitive scores, and when the sexes were assessed separately sex-specific misidentification of cognitive-associated odours was observed. The relationship between the cognitive scores and scent misidentification suggests that impending cognitive decline may be highlighted by the inability to smell specific odours. Our study provides additional support for the testing of olfactory function in the elderly and suggests that loss of smell for particular scents may become a useful diagnostic tool.

Abstract
Freshwater shortage and inadequate nutrient management are the two major challenges for sustainable wheat production in arid agro-ecosystems. Relatively little is known about the positive roles of the application methods for the combination of salicylic acid (SA) and plant nutrients in sustaining wheat production under arid climatic conditions. A two-year field study was undertaken to assess the impact of seven treatments for the integrated application of SA, macronutrients, and micronutrients on the morpho-physiological traits, yield, and irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) of wheat subjected to full (FL) and limited (LM) irrigation regimes. The results showed that the LM regime caused a significant reduction in different plant growth traits, relative water content, chlorophyll pigments, yield components, and yield, while a significant increase was observed in IWUE. The sole application of SA or co-application with micronutrients through soil did not significantly affect the studied traits under the FL regime, while they achieved some improvement over untreated plants under the LM regime. Based on the different multivariate analyses, the soil and foliar applications for the combinations of SA and micronutrients, as well as a foliar application for the combinations of SA, macronutrients, and micronutrients were identified as an efficient option for mitigating the negative impacts of water deficit stress and enhancing the growth and production of wheat under normal conditions. In conclusion, the results obtained herein indicated that the co-application of SA and macro- and micronutrients is an effective option to greatly enhance and improve the growth and production of wheat crops in water-scarce countries of arid regions, such as Saudi Arabia, while an appropriate application method for this combination was required for positive effects.

Abstract
BackgroundCirculating bioactive lipids can provide information about the pathogenesis of specific diseases and potentially help predict therapeutic response. Choosing the right biological therapy earlier in the course of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) could help reach the goal of remission.ObjectivesWe hypothesized that circulating bioactive lipids at baseline would identify specific metabolic profiles that predict patient response to therapy and define elements of metabolic pathobiology in arthritis.MethodsBioactive lipids were measured in plasma from two cohorts of RA patients from the CorEvitas (formerly known as Corrona) CERTAIN registry (1) at baseline prior to treatment with TNF inhibitors (all biologic naïve, N=102) or anti-IL6 (all previously exposed to biologics, N=114). Response to treatment was categorized by minimal clinically important difference (MCID) in Clinical Disease Activity Index (CDAI) (2) at 6 months after treatment initiation. Patients had to have a 6 month follow up visit and plasma available at both the baseline and the f/u time points. Liquid chromatography (LC) system coupled with high resolution QExactive orbitrap mass spectrometer (LC/MS) was used for bioactive lipids profiling. Around 300 spectral features were identified as potential oxylipins by searching against an in-house MS/MS library. Logistic regression analyses adjusted for gender, age and BMI was perfomed using R software.Results102 patients (average age 54, standard deviation [SD] 12.6, 82% female [83], average BMI 29.7, SD 6.7, average CDAI 27.1, SD 13.7) starting anti-TNF therapy and 114 patients (average age 57, SD 13, 90% female [102], average BMI 30.5, SD 7.4, average CDAI 28.7, SD 13.8) starting tocilizumab were analyzed. Twenty-five bioactive metabolites discriminated between RA patients classified as anti-TNF responders (R, n = 74) and non-responders (NR, n = 28). Among these, the anti-inflammatory oxylipin maresin 2 was higher in R while the pro-inflammatory oxylipins 15d PGJ2 and 5,6-diHETE were higher in NR. Twenty different metabolites discriminated anti-IL6 R (n=73) and NR (n=41) as shown in Figure 1. Abstract
Seizure and anesthesia is a topic necessitating more studies to understand its mechanism. Some anesthetic agents triggers seizures, while others can control it. We are here reporting a case of apparently healthy young adult patient who underwent diagnostic cystoscopy and urethral dilatation under general anesthesia and who developed seizure immediately after admission to the postanaesthetic care unit.

Abstract
Background This study aimed to assess the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in glaucoma patients using the STOP-BANG questionnaire at the King Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAUH), a tertiary care center in Saudi Arabia. Methodology This study used a cross-sectional telephone survey. Patients older than 18 years diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma, without a diagnosis of respiratory disease or steroid use, completed the STOP-BANG questionnaire, a validated tool to determine the risk for developing OSA. Patients with a score of 3 or more were considered at intermediate risk of OSA, and those with a score of 5 or more of the maximum 8 points were considered to have a high risk for moderate/severe OSA. Social demographic information and medical histories were collected from all patients using the medical record system of the KAUH. Results A total of 77 patients with glaucoma were included in the study. The mean STOP-BANG score was 3.40 ± 1.5; 27.3% of the patients had low risk of OSA, 36.4% had intermediate risk, and 36.4% had high risk. An evaluation of the OSA symptoms found snoring, tiredness, and observed apnea in 29.9%, 36.4%, and 14.3% of patients, respectively. The association between body mass index and STOP-BANG score was significant. Conclusions Our analysis and assessment of the association between glaucoma and OSA found no evidence that glaucoma patients are more likely to have OSA or develop more severe OSA than others. Therefore, we do not recommend systematic screening of glaucoma patients for OSA.

Combining Genetic and Multidimensional Analyses to Identify Interpretive Traits Related to Water Shortage Tolerance as an Indirect Selection Tool for Detecting Genotypes of Drought Tolerance in Wheat Breeding. Abstract
Water shortages have direct adverse effects on wheat productivity and growth worldwide, vertically and horizontally. Productivity may be promoted using water shortage-tolerant wheat genotypes. High-throughput tools have supported plant breeders in increasing the rate of stability of the genetic gain of interpretive traits for wheat productivity through multidimensional technical methods. We used 27 agrophysiological interpretive traits for grain yield (GY) of 25 bread wheat genotypes under water shortage stress conditions for two seasons. Genetic parameters and multidimensional analyses were used to identify genetic and phenotypic variations of the wheat genotypes used, combining these strategies effectively to achieve a balance. Considerable high genotypic variations were observed for 27 traits. Eleven interpretive traits related to GY had combined high heritability (h2 > 60%) and genetic gain (>20%), compared to GY, which showed moderate values both for heritability (57.60%) and genetic gain (16.89%). It was determined that six out of eleven traits (dry leaf weight (DLW), canopy temperature (CT), relative water content (RWC), flag leaf area (FLA), green leaves area (GLA) and leaf area index (LAI)) loaded the highest onto PC1 and PC2 (with scores of >0.27), and five of them had a positive trend with GY, while the CT trait had a negative correlation determined by principal component analysis (PCA). Genetic parameters and multidimensional analyses (PCA, stepwise regression, and path coefficient) showed that CT, RWC, GLA, and LAI were the most important interpretive traits for GY. Selection based on these four interpretive traits might improve genetic gain for GY in environments that are vulnerable to water shortages. The membership index and clustering analysis based on these four traits were significantly correlated, with some deviation, and classified genotypes into five groups. Highly tolerant, tolerant, intermediate, sensitive and highly sensitive clusters represented six, eight, two, three and six genotypes, respectively. The conclusions drawn from the membership index and clustering analysis, signifying that there were clear separations between the water shortage tolerance groups, were confirmed through discriminant analysis. MANOVA indicated that there were considerable variations between the five water shortage tolerance groups. The tolerated genotypes (DHL02, DHL30, DHL26, Misr1, Pavone-76 and DHL08) can be recommended as interesting new genetic sources for water shortage-tolerant wheat breeding programs.

Abstract
Wheat is an important cereal crop, and its significance is more due to compete for dietary products in the world. Many constraints facing by the wheat crop due to environmental hazardous, biotic, abiotic stress and heavy matters factors, as a result, decrease the yield. Understanding the molecular mechanism related to these factors is significant to figure out genes regulate under specific conditions. Classical breeding using hybridization has been used to increase the yield but not prospered at the desired level. With the development of newly emerging technologies in biological sciences i.e., marker assisted breeding (MAB), QTLs mapping, mutation breeding, proteomics, metabolomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), RNA_sequencing, transcriptomics, differential expression genes (DEGs), computational resources and genome editing techniques i.e. (CRISPR cas9; Cas13) advances in the field of omics. Application of new breeding technologies develops huge data; considerable development is needed in bioinformatics science to interpret the data. However, combined omics application to address physiological questions linked with genetics is still a challenge. Moreover, viroid discovery opens the new direction for research, economics, and target specification. Comparative genomics important to figure gene of interest processes are further discussed about considering the identification of genes, genomic loci, and biochemical pathways linked with stress resilience in wheat. Furthermore, this review extensively discussed the omics approaches and their effective use. Integrated plant omics technologies have been used viroid genomes associated with CRISPR and CRISPR-associated Cas13a proteins system used for engineering of viroid interference along with high-performance multidimensional phenotyping as a significant limiting factor for increasing stress resistance in wheat.

Abstract
Proximal hyperspectral sensing tools could complement and perhaps replace destructive traditional methods for accurate estimation and monitoring of various morpho-physiological plant indicators. In this study, we assessed the potential of thermal imaging (TI) criteria and spectral reflectance indices (SRIs) to monitor different vegetative growth traits (biomass fresh weight, biomass dry weight, and canopy water mass) and seed yield (SY) of soybean exposed to 100%, 75%, and 50% of estimated crop evapotranspiration (ETc). These different plant traits were evaluated and related to TI criteria and SRIs at the beginning bloom (R1) and full seed (R6) growth stages. Results showed that all plant traits, TI criteria, and SRIs presented significant variations (p < 0.05) among irrigation regimes at both growth stages. The performance of TI criteria and SRIs for assessment of vegetative growth traits and SY fluctuated when relationships were analyzed for each irrigation regime or growth stage separately or when the data of both conditions were combined together. TI criteria and SRIs exhibited a moderate to strong relationship with vegetative growth traits when data from different irrigation regimes were pooled together at each growth stage or vice versa. The R6 and R1 growth stages are suitable for assessing SY under full (100% ETc) and severe (50% ETc) irrigation regimes, respectively, using SRIs. The overall results indicate that the usefulness of the TI and SRIs for assessment of growth, yield, and water status of soybean under arid conditions is limited to the growth stage, the irrigation level, and the combination between them.

Abstract
Raillietina saudiae is a well-studied avian gastrointestinal parasite belonging to the family Davaineidae and is the most prevalent cyclophyllid tapeworm infecting pigeon in Saudi Arabia. The present study considered as a complementary analysis of Al-Quraishy et al. (2019; Parasitol Int 71, 59-72) with molecular studies for two ribosomal DNA genes employed for precise recognition of this Raillietina species. The annotated partial 18S and 28S rDNA gene regions were found to be 888 and 900 bp long that utilized further to elucidate their genetic relationships at species level using maximum likelihood method. The query sequence of R. saudiae is well aligned and placed within the Davaineidae family, with the same clade of all species of Raillietina that well separated from other cyclophyllidean cestodes especially taeniid and hymenolepid species. Sequence data recorded the monophyly of Raillietina species. The current phylogeny supports the usage of the partial 18S and 28S rDNA genes as reliable markers for phylogenetic reconstructions.

Abstract
Maintenance of plant physiological functions under drought stress is normally considered a positive feature as it indicates sustained plant health and growth. This study was conducted to investigate whether plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) Bacillus subtilis HAS31 has potential to maintain potato growth and yield under drought stress. We analyzed trends of chlorophyll concentration, photosynthesis process, relative water content, osmolytes, antioxidants enzymes and oxidative stress, relative growth rate, tuber and aboveground biomass production in two potato varieties, Santae (drought-tolerant) and PRI-Red (drought-sensitive). Plants of both genotypes were treated with 100 g of HAS31 inoculant at 10 days after germination and exposed to different soil relative water contents (SRWC), including 80 ± 5% (well watered), 60 ± 5% (moderate stress) and 40 ± 5% SRWC (severe stress) for 7 days at tuber initiation stage (30 days after germination). The drought stress reduced plant relative growth rate, biomass production, leaf area, number of leaves and tubers, tuber weight, and final yield. The drought-stressed plants showed decline in chlorophyll contents, membrane stability, leaf relative water contents and photosynthetic rate. Under drought stress, enzymatic activity of catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), contents of total soluble sugars, soluble proteins and proline increased. The application of PGPR reduced the impact of drought and maintained higher growth and physio-chemical traits of the plants. The plants with PGPR application showed higher relative growth rate, dry matter production, leaf area, number of tubers, tuber weight and yield as compared to plants without PGPR. The PGPR-HAS31 treated plants maintained higher photosynthetic process, contents of chlorophyll, soluble proteins, total soluble sugars, and enzymatic activities of CAT, POD and SOD as compared to plants without PGPR. The results of the study suggest that plant growth regulators have ability to sustain growth and yield of potato under drought stress by maintaining physiological functions of the plants.

Abstract
Hybrid performance during wheat breeding can be improved by analyzing genetic distance (GD) among wheat genotypes and determining its correlation with heterosis. This study evaluated the GD between 16 wheat genotypes by using 60 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers to classify them according to their relationships and select those with greater genetic diversity, evaluate the correlation of the SSR marker distance with heterotic performance and specific combining ability (SCA) for heat stress tolerance, and identify traits that most influence grain yield (GY). Eight parental genotypes with greater genetic diversity and their 28 F1 hybrids generated using diallel crossing were evaluated for 12 measured traits in two seasons. The GD varied from 0.235 to 0.911 across the 16 genotypes. Cluster analysis based on the GD estimated using SSRs classified the genotypes into three major groups and six sub-groups, almost consistent with the results of principal coordinate analysis. The combined data indicated that five hybrids showed 20% greater yield than mid-parent or better-parent. Two hybrids (P2 × P4) and (P2 × P5), which showed the highest performance of days to heading (DH), grain filling duration (GFD), and GY, and had large genetic diversity among themselves (0.883 and 0.911, respectively), were deemed as promising heat-tolerant hybrids. They showed the best mid-parent heterosis and better-parent heterosis (BPH) for DH (-11.57 and -7.65%; -13.39 and -8.36%, respectively), GFD (12.74 and 12.17%; 12.09 and 10.59%, respectively), and GY (36.04 and 20.04%; 44.06 and 37.73%, respectively). Correlation between GD and each of BPH and SCA effects based on SSR markers was significantly positive for GFD, hundred kernel weight, number of kernels per spike, harvest index, GY, and grain filling rate and was significantly negative for DH. These correlations indicate that the performance of wheat hybrids with high GY and earliness could be predicted by determining the GD of the parents by using SSR markers. Multivariate analysis (stepwise regression and path coefficient) suggested that GFD, hundred kernel weight, days to maturity, and number of kernels per spike had the highest influence on GY.

Abstract
The incorporation of nondestructive and cost-effective tools in genetic drought studies in combination with reliable indirect screening criteria that exhibit high heritability and genetic correlations will be critical for addressing the water deficit challenges of the agricultural sector under arid conditions and ensuring the success of genotype development. In this study, the proximal spectral reflectance data were exploited to assess three destructive agronomic parameters [dry weight (DW) and water content (WC) of the aboveground biomass and grain yield (GY)] in 30 recombinant F7 and F8 inbred lines (RILs) growing under full (FL) and limited (LM) irrigation regimes. The utility of different groups of spectral reflectance indices (SRIs) as an indirect assessment tool was tested based on heritability and genetic correlations. The performance of the SRIs and different models of partial least squares regression (PLSR) and stepwise multiple linear regression (SMLR) in estimating the destructive parameters was considered. Generally, all groups of SRIs, as well as different models of PLSR and SMLR, generated better estimations for destructive parameters under LM and combined FL+LM than under FL. Even though most of the SRIs exhibited a low association with destructive parameters under FL, they exhibited moderate to high genetic correlations and also had high heritability. The SRIs based on near-infrared (NIR)/visible (VIS) and NIR/NIR, especially those developed in this study, spectral band intervals extracted within VIS, red edge, and NIR spectral range, or individual effective wavelengths relevant to green, red, red edge, and middle NIR spectral region, were found to be more effective in estimating the destructive parameters under all conditions. Five models of SMLR and PLSR for each condition explained most of the variation in the three destructive parameters among genotypes. These models explained 42% to 46%, 19% to 30%, and 39% to 46% of the variation in DW, WC, and GY among genotypes under FL, 69% to 72%, 59% to 61%, and 77% to 81% under LM, and 71% to 75%, 61% to 71%, and 74% to 78% under FL+LM, respectively. Overall, these results confirmed that application of hyperspectral reflectance sensing in breeding programs is not only important for evaluating a sufficient number of genotypes in an expeditious and cost-effective manner but also could be exploited to develop indirect breeding traits that aid in accelerating the development of genotypes for application under adverse environmental conditions.

Abstract
The current study was conducted to explore the potential for phytoremediation in different varieties of jute grown under toxic concentrations of copper (Cu). For this purpose, a Petri dish experiment was conducted under controlled conditions using four varieties of jute, i.e., HongTieGuXuan, C-3, GuBaChangaJia, and ShangHuoMa, grown in double filter paper under 50 µmol L-1 of artificially spiked copper (Cu) using CuSO4.H2O. The results of the present study revealed that jute varieties C-3 and HongTieGuXuan were able to survive under high concentrations of Cu without a significant decrease in plant height, plant fresh and dry weights, total chlorophyll content, or seed germination, while varieties GuBaChangaJia and ShangHuoMa exhibited a significant reduction in their growth and biomass. Furthermore, high concentrations of Cu in the medium resulted in lipid peroxidation. This could be due to the oxidative damage induced in the roots and leaves of the jute varieties, which might be a result of by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and electrolyte leakage. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated due to Cu toxicity can be overcome by the increasing activity of antioxidants, and it was also noted that GuBaChangaJia and ShangHuoMa exhibited high Cu stress, while C-3 and HongTieGuXuan showed some resistance to Cu toxicity. Contrastingly, Cu accumulation and uptake was higher in C-3 and HongTieGuXuan, while a little Cu was accumulated in the roots and leaves of GuBaChangaJia and ShangHuoMa. On the basis of these findings, it can be suggested that C-3 and HongTieGuXuan have the potential to cope with Cu stress and can be considered Cu-resistant varieties, while GuBaChangaJia and ShangHuoMa are considered Cu-sensitive varieties. Moreover, C-3 and HongTieGuXuan have the potential to revoke large amounts of Cu, and can be cultivated as phytoremediation tools in Cu-contaminated soil.

Abstract
The timely estimation of growth and photosynthetic-related traits in an easy and nondestructive manner using hyperspectral data will become imperative for addressing the challenges of environmental stresses inherent to the agricultural sector in arid conditions. However, the handling and analysis of these data by exploiting the full spectrum remains the determining factor for refining the estimation of crop variables. The main objective of this study was to estimate growth and traits underpinning photosynthetic efficiency of two wheat cultivars grown under simulated saline field conditions and exposed to three salinity levels using hyperspectral reflectance information from 350–2500 nm obtained at two years. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) based on the full spectrum was applied to develop predictive models for estimating the measured parameters in different conditions (salinity levels, cultivars, and years). Variable importance in projection (VIP) of PLSR in combination with multiple linear regression (MLR) was implemented to identify important waveband regions and influential wavelengths related to the measured parameters. The results showed that the PLSR models exhibited moderate to high coefficients of determination (R2) in both the calibration and validation datasets (0.30–0.95), but that this range of R2 values depended on parameters and conditions. The PLSR models based on the full spectrum accurately and robustly predicted three of four parameters across all conditions. Based on the combination of PLSR-VIP and MLR analysis, the wavelengths selected within the visible (VIS), red-edge, and middle near-infrared (NIR) wavebands were the most sensitive to all parameters in all conditions, whereas those selected within the shortwave infrared (SWIR) waveband were effective for some parameters in particular conditions. Overall, these results indicated that the PLSR analysis and band selection techniques can offer a rapid and nondestructive alternative approach to accurately estimate growth- and photosynthetic-related trait responses to salinity stress.

Abstract
To overcome the salinity threats to crop production in arid conditions, wheat cultivars should be developed with better performance with regard to key physiological traits. Although different chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlF) parameters, such as maximum quantum PSII photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm), quantum yield of PSII (ΦPSII), and non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) have been proven to be key physiological traits to improve salt tolerance, their evaluation is time-consuming. In this study, hyperspectral canopy reflectance was used to assess ChlF parameters and grain yield (GY) of two wheat cultivars growing in simulated saline field conditions and exposed to three salinity levels (control, 6.0 dS m-1, and 12.0 dS m-1). Different spectral reflectance indices (SRIs) were formulated as ratios based on contour maps and tested for their relationship with ChlF parameters. The performance of individual SRIs and partial least squares regression (PLSR) models based on ChlF parameters, all examined SRIs, or data fusion of combined ChlF and SRIs to estimate the GY was considered. All examined SRIs failed to assess ΦPSII and NPQ under control condition, but most of them showed a moderate to strong relationship with both parameters under the salinity levels of 6.0 and 12.0 dS m-1. The examined SRIs showed a moderate and strong relationship with Fv/Fm under conditions of 6.0 and 12.0 dS m-1, respectively. Most SRIs correlated better with the three ChlF parameters for the salt-sensitive cultivar Sakha 61 than for the salt-tolerant cultivar Sakha 93. Several SRIs exhibited strong relationships with GY under the salinity levels of 6.0 and 12.0 dS m-1 and for both cultivars. Overall, the PLSR models exhibited additional improvements for estimating and predicting GY in both calibration and validation datasets over that using individual SRIs. The PLSR model based on data fusion was the best model to accurately estimate GY in the validation model even under control conditions. This study, of a type rarely conducted in simulated saline field conditions, indicates that the ChlF parameters could be linked to hyperspectral reflectance data for the rapid and non-destructive assessment of photosynthetic status and prediction of wheat production under salt stress field conditions.

Abstract
Manipulating plant densities under different irrigation rates can have a significant impact on grain yield and water use efficiency by exerting positive or negative effects on ET. Whereas traditional spectral reflectance indices (SRIs) have been used to assess biophysical parameters and yield, the potential of multivariate models has little been investigated to estimate these parameters under multiple agronomic practices. Therefore, both simple indices and multivariate models (partial least square regression (PLSR) and support vector machines (SVR)) obtained from hyperspectral reflectance data were compared for their applicability for assessing the biophysical parameters in a field experiment involving different combinations of three irrigation rates (1.00, 0.75, and 0.50 ET) and five plant densities (D1: 150, D2: 250, D3: 350, D4: 450, and D5: 550 seeds m-2) in order to improve productivity and water use efficiency of wheat. Results show that the highest values for green leaf area, aboveground biomass, and grain yield were obtained from the combination of D3 or D4 with 1.00 ET, while the combination of 0.75 ET and D3 was the best treatment for achieving the highest values for water use efficiency. Wheat yield response factor (ky) was acceptable when the 0.75 ET was combined with D2, D3, or D4 or when the 0.50 ET was combined with D2 or D3, as the ky values of these combinations were less than or around one. The production function indicated that about 75% grain yield variation could be attributed to the variation in seasonal ET. Results also show that the performance of the SRIs fluctuated when regressions were analyzed for each irrigation rate or plant density specifically, or when the data of all irrigation rates or plant densities were combined. Most of the SRIs failed to assess biophysical parameters under specific irrigation rates and some specific plant densities, but performance improved substantially for combined data of irrigation rates and some specific plant densities. PLSR and SVR produced more accurate estimations of biophysical parameters than SRIs under specific irrigation rates and plant densities. In conclusion, hyperspectral data are useful for predicting and monitoring yield and water productivity of spring wheat across multiple agronomic practices.

Abstract
In this focus review we aim to highlight an exciting class of materials, electroactive amphiphiles (EAAs). This class of functional amphiphilic molecules has been the subject of sporadic investigations over the last few decades, but little attempt has been made to date to gather or organise these investigations into a logical fashion. Here we attempted to gather the most important contributions, provide a framework in which to discuss them, and, more importantly, point towards the areas where we believe these EAAs will contribute to solving wider scientific problems and open new opportunities. Our discussions cover materials based on low molecular weight ferrocenes, viologens and anilines, as well as examples of polymeric and supramolecular EAAs. With the advances of modern analytical techniques and new tools for modelling and understanding optoelectronic properties, we believe that this area of research is ready for further exploration and exploitation.

Abstract
NEW FINDINGS What is the central question of this study? Is spontaneous activity (SA) in L4 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons induced by L5 spinal nerve axotomy associated with membrane potential oscillations in these neurons, and if so, are these membrane oscillations mediated by HCN channels? What is the main finding and its importance? Unlike injured L5 DRG neurons, which have been shown to be incapable of firing spontaneously without membrane potential oscillations, membrane potential oscillations are not essential for SA generation in conducting 'uninjured' L4 neurons, and they are not mediated by HCN channels. These findings suggest that the underlying cellular mechanisms of SA in injured and 'uninjured' DRG neurons induced by spinal nerve injury are distinct. ABSTRACT The underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of peripheral neuropathic pain are not fully understood. However, preclinical studies using animal models suggest that this debilitating condition is driven partly by aberrant spontaneous activity (SA) in injured and uninjured dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons, and that SA in injured DRG neurons is triggered by subthreshold membrane potential oscillations (SMPOs). Here, using in vivo intracellular recording from control L4-DRG neurons, and ipsilateral L4-DRG neurons in female Wistar rats that had previously undergone L5 spinal nerve axotomy (SNA), we examined whether conducting 'uninjured' L4-DRG neurons in SNA rats exhibit SMPOs, and if so, whether such SMPOs are associated with SA in those L4 neurons, and whether they are mediated by hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide gated (HCN) channels. We found that 7 days after SNA: (a) none of the control A- or C-fibre DRG neurons showed SMPOs or SA, but 50%, 43% and 0% of spontaneously active cutaneous L4 Aβ-low threshold mechanoreceptors, Aβ-nociceptors and C-nociceptors exhibited SMPOs, respectively, in SNA rats with established neuropathic pain behaviors; (b) neither SMPOs nor SA in L4 Aβ-neurons was suppressed by blocking HCN channels with ZD7288 (10 mg kg-1 , i.v.); and (c) there is a tendency for female rats to show greater pain hypersensitivity than male rats. These results suggest that SMPOs are linked to SA only in some of the conducting L4 Aβ-neurons, that such oscillations are not a prerequisite for SA generation in those L4 A- or C-fibre neurons, and that HCN channels are not involved in their electrogenesis.

Abstract
SLC25A42 gene encodes an inner mitochondrial membrane protein that imports Coenzyme A into the mitochondrial matrix. A mutation in this gene was recently reported in a subject born to consanguineous parents who presented with mitochondrial myopathy with muscle weakness and lactic acidosis. In this report, we present 12 additional individuals with the same founder mutation who presented with variable manifestations ranging from asymptomatic lactic acidosis to a severe phenotype characterized by developmental regression and epilepsy. Our report confirms the link between SLC25A42 and mitochondrial disease in humans, and suggests that pathogenic variants in SLC25A42 should be interpreted with the understanding that the associated phenotype may be highly variable.

Abstract
Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) has gained popularity and proven its efficacy, safety and reproducibility in the last decade. RARC has resulted in less blood loss, enhanced recovery, and shorter hospital stay. RARC has proven to have similar or better postoperative morbidity, mortality and equal oncologic, outcomes. Limiting factors to the acceptance of this surgical approach have included its steep learning curve and the lack of both long-term outcome data. This article systematically reviews the literature comparing the outcomes for RARC (comparisons with open radical cystectomy when performed at the same institution) with a focus on operative, complications, oncologic, functional and survival outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many nursing associations in the world are facing difficulties in increasing nurses' membership. Many researchers have identified possible causes for this decline. AIM To explore factors that influence nurses' decision to join or not to join the Kuwait Nursing Association (KNA). METHODS A Professional Association Membership Questionnaire (PAMQ) developed by Yeager (1981) was used. A short demographic questionnaire and two open-ended questions developed by the researcher were added at the end of the questionnaire to gather the data sought in this study. The participants were 40 nurses who are current members of KNA and 100 nurses who had been members of KNA in the past and did not renew their membership in 2005. RESULTS This study showed that all 29 reported benefits were not very important to both groups. However, nine benefits strongly influenced the current members' decisions to join KNA, namely social activities, relief from boredom, fun, travel, improvement of health care, Something new, friendship, group benefit plans and peer group contact. The former members valued five benefits, namely education, programmes, support, professionalism and self-improvement. CONCLUSION Current and former members differ in their reasons to join or not to join the KNA. All the benefits provided by an association may not necessarily attract members and the philosophical differences between them are one of the reasons not join an association.

Abstract
A method was developed for extraction of noroviruses from raspberries. The method consists of removal of virus from fruit surfaces by alkaline extraction, then removal of residual food debris by centrifugation, followed by concentration of virus particles by ultracentrifugation. The efficiency of the extraction was estimated by comparison of reverse transcription PCR signals obtained from fruit extracts and the norovirus suspension that was used to contaminate the fruit. Noroviruses were recovered with at least 10% efficiency from 60-g raspberry samples (n = 10). The sample treatment reported here should be applicable for harnessing to any norovirus reverse transcription PCR and form the basis of a dependable method to detect noroviruses in raspberries.
