Abstract
AIM To extend and form the "Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation in Traditional Chinese Medicine" (GRADE-TCM). METHODS Methodologies were systematically reviewed and analyzed concerning evidence-based TCM guidelines worldwide. A survey questionnaire was developed based on the literature review and open-end expert interviews. Then, we performed expert consensus, discussion meeting, opinion collection, external examination, and the GRADE-TCM was formed eventually. RESULTS 265 Chinese and English TCM guidelines were included and analyzed. Five experts completed the open-end interviews. Ten methodological entries were summarized, screened and selected. One round of consensus was conducted, including a total of 22 experts and 220 valid questionnaire entries, concerning 1) selection of the GRADE, 2) GRADE-TCM upgrading criteria, 3) GRADE-TCM evaluation standard, 4) principles of consensus and recommendation, and 5) presentation of the GRADE-TCM and recommendation. Finally, consensus was reached on the above 10 entries, and the results were of high importance (with voting percentages ranging from 50 % to 81.82 % for "very important" rating) and strong reliability (with the Cr ranging from 0.93 to 0.99). Expert discussion meeting (with 40 experts), opinion collection (in two online platforms) and external examination (with 14 third-party experts) were conducted, and the GRADE-TCM was established eventually. CONCLUSION GRADE-TCM provides a new extended evidence-based evaluation standard for TCM guidelines. In GRADE-TCM, international evidence-based norms, characteristics of TCM intervention, and inheritance of TCM culture were combined organically and followed. This is helpful for localization of the GRADE in TCM and internationalization of TCM guidelines.

Abstract
The early identification of vulnerable patients has the potential to improve outcomes but poses a substantial challenge in clinical practice. This study evaluated the ability of an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled electrocardiogram (ECG) to identify hospitalized patients with a high risk of mortality in a multisite randomized controlled trial involving 39 physicians and 15,965 patients. The AI-ECG alert intervention included an AI report and warning messages delivered to the physicians, flagging patients predicted to be at high risk of mortality. The trial met its primary outcome, finding that implementation of the AI-ECG alert was associated with a significant reduction in all-cause mortality within 90 days: 3.6% patients in the intervention group died within 90 days, compared to 4.3% in the control group (4.3%) (hazard ratio (HR) = 0.83, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.70-0.99). A prespecified analysis showed that reduction in all-cause mortality associated with the AI-ECG alert was observed primarily in patients with high-risk ECGs (HR = 0.69, 95% CI = 0.53-0.90). In analyses of secondary outcomes, patients in the intervention group with high-risk ECGs received increased levels of intensive care compared to the control group; for the high-risk ECG group of patients, implementation of the AI-ECG alert was associated with a significant reduction in the risk of cardiac death (0.2% in the intervention arm versus 2.4% in the control arm, HR = 0.07, 95% CI = 0.01-0.56). While the precise means by which implementation of the AI-ECG alert led to decreased mortality are to be fully elucidated, these results indicate that such implementation assists in the detection of high-risk patients, prompting timely clinical care and reducing mortality. Abstract
BACKGROUND The burden of asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) is greater than that of heart failure; however, a cost-effective tool for asymptomatic LVD screening has not been well validated. We aimed to prospectively validate an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled electrocardiography (ECG) algorithm for asymptomatic LVD detection and evaluate its cost-effectiveness for opportunistic screening. METHODS In this prospective observational study, patients undergoing ECG at outpatient clinics or health check-ups were enrolled in 2 hospitals in Taiwan. Patients were stratified into LVD (left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40%) risk groups according to a previously developed ECG algorithm. The performance of AI-ECG was used to conduct a cost-effectiveness analysis of LVD screening compared with no screening. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) and sensitivity analyses were used to examine the cost-effectiveness and robustness of the results. RESULTS Among the 29,137 patients, the algorithm demonstrated areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves of 0.984 and 0.945 for detecting LVD within 28 days in the 2 hospital cohorts. For patients not initially scheduled for ECG, the algorithm predicted future echocardiograms (high-risk, 46.2%; medium-risk, 31.4%; low-risk, 14.6%) and LVD (high-risk, 26.2%; medium-risk, 3.4%; low-risk, 0.1%) at 12 months. Opportunistic screening with AI-ECG could result in a negative ICER of -$7,439 for patients aged 65 years, with consistent cost-savings across age groups and particularly in men. Approximately 91.5% of the cases were found to be cost-effective at the willingness-to-pay threshold of $30,000 in the probabilistic analysis. CONCLUSIONS The use of AI-ECG for asymptomatic LVD risk stratification is promising, and opportunistic screening in outpatient clinics has the potential to reduce costs.

Abstract
Primary cutaneous lymphomas are rare non-Hodgkin lymphomas consisting of heterogeneous disease entities. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) utilizing photosensitizers irradiated with a specific wavelength of light in the presence of oxygen exerts promising anti-tumor effects on non-melanoma skin cancer, yet its application in primary cutaneous lymphomas remains less recognized. Despite many in vitro data showing PDT could effectively kill lymphoma cells, clinical evidence of PDT against primary cutaneous lymphomas is limited. Recently, a phase 3 "FLASH" randomized clinical trial demonstrated the efficacy of topical hypericin PDT for early-stage cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. An update on recent advances of photodynamic therapy in primary cutaneous lymphomas is provided.

Abstract
Multiple large lesions of Bowen's disease (BD) often appear in patients who have been under chronic exposure to arsenic. The treatment of such lesions is very challenging. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been considered a first-line effective treatment for BD. However, lesions larger than 2 cm are less responsive to PDT. We reported two giant BD lesions (> 10 cm in diameter), that were on a chronic arsenicosis patient's back, to be successfully treated with PDT and subsequent imiquimod occlusion overnight twice a week on the week after PDT. No recurrence was noted during the 12-month follow-up.

Abstract
Background Proximal protection devices, such as the Mo.Ma system provides better neurological outcomes than the distal filter system in the carotid artery stenting (CAS) procedure. This study first evaluated the safety and efficacy of the Mo.Ma system during CAS in a single tertiary referral hospital from Taiwan. The outcomes of distal vs. proximal embolic protection devices were also studied. Methods A total of 294 patients with carotid artery stenosis who underwent the CAS procedure were retrospectively included and divided into two groups: 152 patients in the distal filter system group and 142 patients in the Mo.Ma system. The outcomes of interest were compared between the two groups. The factors contributing to occlusion intolerance (OI) in the Mo.Ma system were evaluated. Results The procedure success rates were more than 98% in both groups. No major stroke occurred in this study. The minor stroke rates were 2.8% (4/142) and 4.6% (7/152) in the Mo.Ma system and filter system, respectively (p = 0.419). Patients with hypoalbuminemia significantly predicted the risk of stroke with an odds ratio of 0.08 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.01–0.68, p = 0.020] per 1 g/day of serum albumin in the filter group. A total of 12 patients developed OI in the Mo.Ma system (12/142, 8%). Low occlusion pressure predicted the occurrence of OI in the Mo.Ma group with the hazard ratios of 0.88 (95% CI: 0.82–0.96) and 0.90 (95% CI: 0.84–0.98) per 1 mmHg of occlusion systolic pressure (OSP) and diastolic pressure (ODP), respectively. We further indicated that patients with an OSP of ≥60 mmHg or an ODP of ≥44 mmHg could tolerate the procedure of occlusion time up to 400 s, while patients with an OSP of <49 mmHg or an ODP of <34 mmHg should undergo the procedure of occlusion time less than 300 s to prevent the occurrence of OI. Conclusion We have demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of the Mo.Ma system during CAS in an Asia population. By reducing the occlusion time, our study indicated a lower risk of OI in the Mo.Ma system and proposed the optimal occlusion time according to occlusion pressure to prevent OI during the CAS procedure. Further large-scale and prospective studies are needed to verify our results.

Abstract
Annular configuration is conspicuous in the clinical manifestation of many skin diseases and can be helpful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis. Variations may include arciform, ring-form, annular, circinate, serpiginous, gyrated, polycyclic, targeted or figurate forms, in different colors, sizes, and numbers, with various textures and surfaces. In infectious dermatoses, the annular reactions can be specific or nonspecific, while the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. In the specific reactions caused by direct invasion of the pathogens, the contest between the centrifugal outspread of the infectious agents and the centripetal impedance of the host immune response is supposed to determine the final conformation. Examples include erythema infectiosum, orf, erythema multiforme, and pityriasis rosea of viral origin. Bacterial infections that may display annular lesions include erythrasma, erythema (chronicum) migrans of Lyme borreliosis, secondary syphilis, cutaneous tuberculosis, and leprosy. Superficial mycosis, such as dermatophytosis, candida intertrigo, tinea imbricata, and subcutaneous mycosis, such as chromoblastomycosis, and algae infection protothecosis, are characterized by annular progression of the skin lesions. The creeping serpiginous extension is an alarming sign for the diagnosis of cutaneous larva migrans. A better understanding of the virulence and pathogenicity of the pathogens and the way and type of immune response will help to clarify the pathogenesis.

Abstract
This study's aim was to investigate whether the cecropin-prophenoloxidase regulatory mechanism is a cross-species physiological function among mosquitoes. BLAST and phylogenetic analysis revealed that three mosquito cecropin Bs, namely Aedes albopictus cecropin B (Aalcec B), Armigeres subalbatus cecropin B2 (Ascec B2), and Culex quinquefasciatus cecropin B1 (Cqcec B1), play crucial roles in cuticle formation during pupal development via the regulation of prophenoloxidase 3 (PPO 3). The effects of cecropin B knockdown were rescued in a cross-species manner by injecting synthetic cecropin B peptide into pupae. Further investigations showed that these three cecropin B peptides bind to TTGG(A/C)A motifs within each of the PPO 3 DNA fragments obtained from these three mosquitoes. These results suggest that Aalcec B, Ascec B2, and Cqcec B1 each play an important role as a transcription factor in cuticle formation and that similar cecropin-prophenoloxidase regulatory mechanisms exist in multiple mosquito species. Abstract
Background Artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram has become a substitute tool for echocardiography in left ventricular ejection fraction estimation. However, the direct use of artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram may be not trustable due to the uncertainty of the prediction. Objective The study aimed to establish an artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram with a degree of confidence to identify left ventricular dysfunction. Methods The study collected 76,081 and 11,771 electrocardiograms from an academic medical center and a community hospital to establish and validate the deep learning model, respectively. The proposed deep learning model provided the point estimation of the actual ejection fraction and its standard deviation derived from the maximum probability density function of a normal distribution. The primary analysis focused on the accuracy of identifying patients with left ventricular dysfunction (ejection fraction ≤ 40%). Since the standard deviation was an uncertainty indicator in a normal distribution, we used it as a degree of confidence in the artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram. We further explored the clinical application of estimated standard deviation and followed up on the new-onset left ventricular dysfunction in patients with initially normal ejection fraction. Results The area under receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC) of detecting left ventricular dysfunction were 0.9549 and 0.9365 in internal and external validation sets. After excluding the cases with a lower degree of confidence, the artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram performed better in the remaining cases in internal (AUC = 0.9759) and external (AUC = 0.9653) validation sets. For the application of future left ventricular dysfunction risk stratification in patients with initially normal ejection fraction, a 4.57-fold risk of future left ventricular dysfunction when the artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram is positive in the internal validation set. The hazard ratio was increased to 8.67 after excluding the cases with a lower degree of confidence. This trend was also validated in the external validation set. Conclusion The deep learning model with a degree of confidence can provide advanced improvements in identifying left ventricular dysfunction and serve as a decision support and management-guided screening tool for prognosis.

Abstract
Severe lactic acidosis, a mitochondrial toxicity caused by the recommended standard dosage of linezolid (LZD), may occur in patients with impaired renal function. We describe an adult male who underwent kidney transplantation with stably impaired renal function, severe dyspnea, and abdominal discomfort. He received a standard oral dose of LZD (600 mg twice daily) and azithromycin for three weeks with a reduced immunosuppressant dose due to pulmonary non-tuberculosis mycobacterial infection. He was alert and afebrile, with a blood pressure of 140/60 mmHg. Pertinent laboratory data showed: pH 7.12, PaCO2 13.6 mmHg; HCO3- 4.3 mmol/L and serum lactate 18.4 mmol/L. His trough serum LZD concentration reached toxic levels (21.4 μg/mL). With hemodialysis, his clinical symptoms improved, with a decline in serum LZD (9.8μg/mL) and lactate (3.2 mmol/L). Chronic standard dose LZD in patients with impaired renal function can lead to life-threatening lactic acidosis, especially in coexisting conditions that reduce LZD metabolism.

Abstract
A 35 year-old woman had a two-year history of recurrent headache with clinical presentations of visual aura in her left visual field followed by right-sided throbbing headache. The patient suffered from a similar attack but her visual aura-like symptoms persisted for over 48 hours. The concurrent electroencephalogram demonstrated focal non-epileptiform rhythmic slow waves in the right occipital region. The magnetic resonance images showed prominent parenchymal edema in the right occipital area. The cerebral angiographic study proved a small cerebral arteriovenous malformation. This illustrated case showed that cerebral arteriovenous malformation produces headaches mimicking migraine with visual aura. The acute vascular flow change and the parenchymal edema trigger a prolonged visual aura with coinstantaneous evidence of cortical depression shown on the electroencephalogram. Abstract
BACKGROUND Exploiting indoor-resting mosquitoes' innate behavioral responses to commonly used insecticide is crucial in vector control programs. Indoor residual spraying (IRS) and long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) treated with pyrethroids have become widely used for controlling dengue fever vectors. The present study tested the effects of piperonyl butoxide (PBO) synergism and cuticular thickening on the contact irritancy response of field A. aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) to deltamethrin in Taiwan and Thailand. RESULTS The escape response of field mosquitoes treated with PBO was significantly elicited, with an escape percentage increase between 2- and 10-fold. In addition, the escape time was significantly lower in PBO-pretreated mosquitoes compared with field mosquitoes treated with deltamethrin alone. PBO-pretreated mosquitoes from seven out of 11 field strains exhibited a knockdown percentage of 11.23-54.91%, significantly higher than that of mosquitoes in corresponding strains treated with deltamethrin only. The Annan, Zhongxi, Sanmin, and North strains exhibited weak knockdown responses (≤3.75%). The mortality of PBO-pretreated field mosquitoes increased 2- to 75-fold compared with those treated with deltamethrin alone (mortality: 0-6.70%). Furthermore, the effect of cuticular thickness on the escape response of field mosquitoes was significant, that is, the escape response marginally increased inversely to cuticular thickness. By contrast, cuticular thickness was not significantly associated with knockdown or mortality percentage. CONCLUSION Irritant behavior in mosquitoes was significantly elicited by PBO synergism. PBO incorporating deltamethrin IRS or LLINs may be effective for controlling dengue fever vectors. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
HIV-1 protease (PR) is thought to be efficient targets of anti-AIDS drug design. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and multiple post-processing analysis technologies were applied to decipher molecular mechanism underlying binding of three drugs Lopinavir (LPV), Nelfinavir (NFV) and Atazanavir (ATV) to the PR. Binding free energies calculated by molecular mechanics generalized Born surface area (MM-GBSA) suggest that compensation between binding enthalpy and entropy plays a vital role in binding of drugs to PR. Dynamics analyses show that binding of LPV, NFV and ATV highly affects structural flexibility, motion modes and dynamics behaviour of the PR, especially for two flaps. Computational alanine scanning and interaction network analysis verify that although three drugs have structural difference, they share similar binding modes to the PR and common interaction clusters with the PR. The current findings also confirm that residues located interaction clusters, such as Asp25/Asp25', Gly27/Gly27', Ala28/Ala28', Asp29, Ile47/Ile47', Gly49/Gly49', Ile50/Ile50', Val82/Val82' and Ile84/Ile84, can be used as efficient targets of clinically available inhibitors towards the PR.

Abstract
Serum sickness or serum sickness-like reactions (SSLRs) constitute a rare complication that manifests in individuals after receiving vaccinations. In this case report, we present a patient with typical symptoms of SSLRs after pneumococcal vaccination. The time course of this disease and our diagnostic process are documented in detail. The literature related to serum sickness and SSLRs is also reviewed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chest pain is the most common symptom of aortic dissection (AD), but it is often confused with other prevalent cardiopulmonary diseases. We aimed to develop deep-learning models (DLMs) with electrocardiography (ECG) and chest x-ray (CXR) features to detect AD and evaluate their performance. METHODS This study included 43,473 patients in the emergency department (ED) between July 2012 and December 2019 for retrospective DLM development. A development cohort including 49,071 ED records (120 AD type A and 64 AD type B) was used to train DLMs for ECG and CXR, and 9904 independent ED records (40 AD type A and 34 AD type B) were used to validate DLM performance. Human-machine competitions of ECG and CXR were conducted. Patient characteristics and laboratory results were used to enhance the diagnostic accuracy. The DLM-enabled AD diagnostic process was prospectively evaluated in 25,885 ED visits. RESULTS The area under the curves (AUCs) of the ECG and CXR models were 0.918 and 0.857 for detecting AD in a human-machine competition, respectively, which were better than those of the participating physicians. In the validation cohort, the AUCs of the integrated model were 0.882, 0.960, and 0.813 in all AD, AD type A, and AD type B patients, respectively, with a sensitivity of 100.0% and a specificity of 81.7% for AD type A. In patients with chest pain and D-dimer tests, the DLM could predict more precisely, achieving a positive predictive value of 62.5% in the prospective evaluation. CONCLUSIONS DLMs may serve as decision-supporting tools for identification of AD and facilitate differential diagnosis in patients with acute chest pain.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY RELEVANCE Cordyceps militaris (Linn.) Link (CM) is a medicinal mushroom traditionally used in tonics for treating several neurological disorders, including epilepsy and anxiety, in Asia. Reports have shown that CM has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects and may be beneficial for depression management. AIM OF THE STUDY This study aimed to investigate the potential of CM as an antidepressant for a long-term unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) rodent models and explore its underlying mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS Rats were orally administered with 125 (low, L), 250 (medium, M), and 500 (high, H) mg/kg bodyweight (bw) of the water extract of CM (WCM) for 35 consecutive days in the UCMS protocol. The levels of cerebral serotonin (5-HT), dopamine (DA), and metabolites in the frontal cortex of the rats were measured. Blood was collected to investigate the levels of proinflammatory cytokines, and the brain was dissected to assay the stress-associated ROCK2/PTEN/Akt signaling. RESULTS All doses of the WCM prevented abnormal behaviors induced by UCMS, including anhedonia and hypoactivity. The LWCM treatment reduced the turnover rate of 5-HT, and all doses of the WCM reduced the turnover rate of DA in the frontal cortex. The LWCM also attenuated the elevation of serum IL-1β induced by chronic stress. All doses of the WCM attenuated the ROCK2 protein hyperactivation, and the LWCM further increased the down-regulation of p-Akt/Akt signaling. CONCLUSION The WCM has antidepressant-like effects, which may result from the regulation of the stress-related ROCK2/PTEN/Akt pathway. Therefore, the WCM may be developed and used for the complementary treatment of depression.

Abstract
The protonation states of two aspartic acids in the catalytic strands of HIV-1 protease (PR) remarkably affect bindings of inhibitors to PR. It is requisite for the design of potent inhibitors towards PR to investigate the influences of Asp25/Asp25' protonated states on dynamics behaviour of PR and binding mechanism of inhibitors to PR. In this work, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, MM-GBSA method and principal component (PC) analysis were coupled to explore the effect of Asp25/Asp25' protonation states on conformational changes of PR and bindings of Amprenavir and MKP97 to PR. The results show that the Asp25/Asp25' protonation states exert different impacts on structural fluctuations, flexibility and motion modes of PR. Dynamics analysis verifies that Asp25/Asp25' protonated states highly affect conformational dynamics of two flaps in PR. The binding free energy calculations results suggest that the Asp25/Asp25' protonated states obviously strengthen bindings of inhibitors to PR compared to the non-protonation state. Calculations of residue-based free energy decomposition indicate that the Asp25/Asp25' protonation not only disturbs the interaction network of inhibitors with PR but also stabilizes bindings of inhibitors to PR by cancelling the electrostatic repulsive interaction. Therefore, special attentions should be paid to the Asp25/Asp25' protonation in the design of potent inhibitors towards PR.

Abstract
The order Magnaporthales belongs to Sordariomycetes, Ascomycota. Magnaporthales includes five families, namely Ceratosphaeriaceae, Pseudohalonectriaceae, Ophioceraceae, Pyriculariaceae, and Magnaporthaceae. Most Magnaporthales members are found in Poaceae plants and other monocotyledonous herbaceous plants ubiquitously as plant pathogens or endophytic fungi, and some members are found in decaying wood or dead grass as saprophytic fungi. Therefore, studying the biogeography and ecology of Magnaporthales is of great significance. Here, we described the biodiversity of endophytic Magnaporthales fungi from Poaceae at three latitudes in China and conducted a meta-analysis of the geography and ecology of Magnaporthales worldwide. We found that Magnaporthales is a dominant order in the endophytic fungi of Poaceae. More than half of the endophytic Magnaporthales fungi have a taxonomically uncertain placement. Notably, few endophytic fungi are grouped in the clusters with known saprophytic or pathogenic Magnaporthales fungi, indicating that they may have saprophytic and parasitic differentiation in nutritional modes and lifestyles. The meta-analysis revealed that most species of Magnaporthales have characteristic geographical, host, and tissue specificity. The geographical distribution of the three most studied genera, namely Gaeumannomyces, Magnaporthiopsis, and Pyricularia, in Magnaporthales may depend on the distribution of their hosts. Therefore, studies on the endophytic fungal Magnaporthales from monocotyledonous plants, including Poaceae, in middle and low latitudes will deepen our understanding of the biogeography and ecology of Magnaporthales.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY RELEVANCE Armillaria mellea (Vahl) P. Kumm. (AM) is an edible mushroom that has been reported as treatment for several neurological disorders, such as dizziness and epilepsy in Asia. Importantly, AM shares a symbiotic relationship with Gastrodia elata Blume (GE), a medicinal herb with antidepressant-like properties. Researchers believe that AM may possess pharmacological properties similar to GE due to their symbiosis, however, few studies have investigated the pharmacological effect of AM. AIM OF THE STUDY The aim of this study was to explore the potential of AM as an antidepressant in forced-swimming test (FST) and unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) rodent models and investigate its possible underlying mechanism. MATERIALS AND METHODS Rats were orally administrated with 250, 500, and 1000 mg/kg body weight (bw) water extract of AM (WAM) for 28 and 35 consecutive days prior to the FST and UCMS protocols, respectively. The cerebral serotonin (5-HT) and the metabolites in the frontal cortex of rats were measured. The brain was dissected and the blood was collected to investigate the levels of inflammatory-related signaling pathway. RESULTS All doses of WAM reduced the immobility time in the FST without disturbing autonomic locomotion. All doses of WAM prevented stress-induced abnormal behaviors in the UCMS model, including decreased sucrose preference and hypoactivity. 500 and 1000 mg/kg bw WAM attenuated the stress-induced increases in IL-1β and TNF-α in the serum and cerebrum. 1000 mg/kg bw WAM alleviated brain inflammation by reducing the protein expression of ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1. CONCLUSION WAM exhibited acute and chronic antidepressant-like effects, and may result from the anti-inflammatory actions. Therefore, the development of AM as a dietary therapy or adjuvant for depression treatment should be considered.

Abstract
The Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus, is of crucial concern to the public and veterinary health because of its vector role in transmission of several mosquito-borne diseases. Over the past decades, entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) have been used to control important agricultural insect pests and are considered to be effective against mosquitoes as well. The objectives of this study were to investigate the mosquitocidal effects of Steinernema abbasi to Ae. albopictus and the encapsulation processes of invading nematodes in the mosquito host. In this study, we found that S. abbasi was pathogenic to 3rd and 4th instar larvae of Ae. albopictus by entering the hemocoel of the 3rd and 4th instar larvae mainly through mouth and gastric caecum or by penetrating pupae through the intersegmental membrane or trumpet. The mosquito larvae infected with a single nematode caused a high mortality. Although EPNs in the hemocoel of mosquitoes were melanized and encapsulated, most Ae. albopictus larvae failed to survive after infection with S. abbasi. Overall, we demonstrated that S. abbasi is pathogenic to Ae. albopictus larvae, suggesting that this S. abbasi isolate has potential as a biocontrol agent for managing this vector mosquito.

Abstract
Statins constitute the mainstay treatment for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which is associated with the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus (NODM). However, the effects of individual statins on the risk of NODM remain unclear. We recruited 48,941 patients taking one of the three interested statins in a tertiary hospital between 2006 and 2018. Among them, 8337 non-diabetic patients taking moderate-intensity statins (2 mg/day pitavastatin, 10 mg/day atorvastatin, and 10 mg/day rosuvastatin) were included. The pitavastatin group had a higher probability of being NODM-free than the atorvastatin and rosuvastatin groups during the 4-year follow-up (log-rank test: p = 0.038). A subgroup analysis revealed that rosuvastatin had a significantly higher risk of NODM than pitavastatin among patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) (adjusted HR [aHR], 1.47, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.05–2.05, p = 0.025), hypertension (aHR, 1.26, 95% CI, 1.00–1.59, p = 0.047), or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (aHR, 1.74, 95% CI, 1.02–2.94, p = 0.04). We concluded that compared with rosuvastatin, reduced diabetogenic effects of pitavastatin were observed among patients treated with moderate-intensity statin who had hypertension, COPD, or CAD. Additional studies are required to prove the effects of different statins on the risk of NODM.

Abstract
The disinfection efficiencies of two chemical disinfectants, chlorine dioxide and weak acid hypochlorous water (WAHW), were examined in the soiled room and dishwashing room of a hospital infectious disease ward in Taiwan. The investigations were conducted in two seasons, namely winter and summer, in order to examine the correlation between the bioaerosol concentration and the environmental factors. In addition, a single-daily disinfection mode (SM) and a twice-daily disinfection mode (TM) were applied in this study. The results showed that the bacteria and fungi colony counts were strongly correlated with the temperature. Both disinfectants reduced the bacteria and fungi concentrations in the considered rooms. However, of the two disinfectants, the ClO2 showed a stronger disinfection effect than the WAHW. It means that when using ClO2 as the disinfectant, the disinfection efficiency of the TM treatment mode is significantly better than that of the SM treatment mode. But, when using WAHW as the disinfectant, no significant difference is found between the disinfection efficiencies of the two methods. Overall, the results showed that the application of ClO2 twice daily provided the most effective means of satisfying the Taiwan EPA guidelines for the indoor air quality of hospital medical wards.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of wrist-ankle acupuncture (WA) stimulation at "R4"- "R5" - "R6" on the expression of glutamate (Glu) and phosphorylated protein NMDAR1(p-NMDAR1) of the spinal dorsal horn in spared nerve injury (SNI) rats, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of SNI. METHODS A total of 36 SD rats were randomly divi-ded into sham operation, model and WA groups, with 12 rats in each group. The SNI procedure comprised an axotomy and ligation of the tibial and common peroneal nerves leaving the sural nerve intact. Rats of the WA group were treated by acupuncture at "R4"-"R5"-"R6" points from the 5th day to the 14th day after modeling. The mechanical pain thresholds were measured before and 5, 10 and 14 d after SNI, respectively. The cold allodynia was dectected by Acetone solution dropped onto the lateral plantar surface of the paw. Glu content and p-NMDAR1 expression of spinal dorsal horn were detected by 1H-MRS, ELISA and immunohistochemistry Methods. RESULTS Compared with the sham operation group, the mechanical pain threshold of the model group was significantly decreased (P<0.01), the duration of cold stimulation foot contraction was increased (P<0.01), and the Glu content and p-NMDAR1 expression in the spinal dorsal horn were significantly increased (P<0.05, P<0.01). After WA intervention, the mechanical pain threshold was significantly increased (P<0.01), the duration of cold stimulation was significantly shortened (P<0.01), and Glu content and p-NMDAR1 protein expression of spinal dorsal horn were decreased significantly (P<0.05, P<0.01) in the WA group compared with the model group. CONCLUSION WA can reduce pain sensitivity in rats with neuropathic pain, possibly by inhibiting the expression of Glu and p-NMDAR1 in the spinal dorsal horn.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Poria cocos is a medicinal mushroom of the Polyporaceae family with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, which has been used for its sedative, diuretic and tonic effects in traditional medicine for several hundred years. AIM OF STUDY Considering that depression is an inflammatory related mental disease, this study investigated the antidepressant-like effects of water extract of P. cocos in a rodent animal model. MATERIALS AND METHODS Rats that were exposed to a forced swimming test (FST) for 28 consecutive days, and unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) for five weeks underwent treatment with P. cocos water extract (PCW) (doses: 100, 300 and 900 mg/kg body weight [bw]; administered by gavage). Dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT) and their metabolites in the frontal cortex of rats were measured. RESULTS Our results firstly showed that sucrose preference during the UCMS paradigm was increased and immobility time in the FST was reduced with administration of PCW. In addition, PCW significantly attenuated UCMS-induced turnover rate of DA and 5-HT in the frontal cortex. Moreover, PCW inhibited UCMS-induced activated inflammatory response, reflected by reduced expression in the frontal cortex of p38, NF-κB and TNF-α. CONCLUSIONS Our results strongly suggest that PCW exhibits a potent antidepressant-like effect via regulation of monoaminergic neurotransmission and inactivation of inflammation, and that P. cocos may be considered as a traditional herbal potential medicine for the treatment of depression.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) caused by syntaxin-binding protein 1 (STXBP1) gene mutation. Methods: The clinical data, gene variation and treatment outcome of 15 children with STXBP1 encephalopathy admitted to Children's Hospital Affiliated to Capital Institute of Pediatrics from January 2014 to June 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Among 15 patients, 11 were male and 4 were female, age ranged from 2 months to 69 months. The clinical manifestations of 14 children were epilepsy and developmental delay (DD) and the remaining one showed developmental delay without seizure. The onset age of epilepsy ranged from two days to 19 months and 11 of them experienced the first attack before 1 year of age. The common seizure types were epileptic spasms and tonic seizures. Seven patients were diagnosed with Ohtahara syndrome or West syndrome. Epileptic form discharges were observed in the interictal electroencephalograms (EEG) of 11 patients, including multifocal discharges, suppression-burst and hypsarrhythmia. The brain magnetic resonance imaging of 7 children were abnormal, including myelin dysplasia, less white matter, lack of corpus callosum or hypoplasia. The follow-up time ranged from 2 months to 57 months, after the last follow-up, 3 cases were seizure free, 6 children showed partial response and the other 5 patients had no response on multitherapy. Six of 8 patients showed good responses to levetiracetam (LEV) monotherapy or in combination with other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Vigabatrin (VGB) was applied to 5 patients with epileptic spasms and 4 of them showed response. All patients showed different degrees of developmental delay while four of them showed autistic features. STXBP1 gene mutations were identified in all cases and there were 15 types of gene variations, including 8 missense mutations, 1 nonsense mutation, 5 frame shift mutations and 1 complex mutation. Five novel mutations were unreported before, including c.1193A>G, c.172delG, c.1769C>T, c.1038_1039delCC, c.348_351dupTGAA. Conclusions: Development delay and epilepsy are the major and independent clinical phenotypes in children with STXBP1 encephalopathy. The variation of STXBP1 gene is mainly de novo. Levetiracetam and vigabatrin may be more effective in epilepsy control than other AEDs.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the differences of clinicopathological features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis between patients with extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGIST) and duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (DGIST). Methods: A retrospective case - control study was performed. Case inclusion criteria: (1) tumor confirmed by histology and pathology; (2) primary tumor locating in the extra - gastrointestinal tract or duodenum; (3) without other synchronous tumors; (4) complete clinical and pathological data. Clinical data of 20 EGIST patients and 32 DGIST patients from March 2011 to September 2016 at Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The observational parameters included clinicopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis conditions. Continuous data of abnormal distribution were expressed as median (range) and compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test. Survival curves were drawn by the Kaplan-Meier method and compared with the Log-rank test. Results: Of the 20 EGIST patients, 8 were males and 12 were females with age of 61.0 (30.0 to 86.0) years and of the 32 DGIST patients, 12 were males and 20 were females with age of 55.5 (27.0 to 70.0) years. Compared with DGIST patients, EGIST patients were older (U=188.000, P=0.012], had larger tumor size [10.0 (3.0 to 29.0) cm vs. 4.0 (1.5 to 10.0) cm, U=98.500, P<0.001] and higher ratio of high risk classification [85.0% (17/20) vs. 12.5% (4/32), χ(2)=26.870, P<0.001]. Among the 20 EGIST patients, 5 were diagnosed with distal metastasis and received imatinib (400 mg/d), and the other 15 patients underwent radical resection who were included in survival analysis. All the 32 DGIST patients underwent radical resection. The median follow-up of whole group was 43 (14 to 76) months. The 3-year recurrence/metastasis-free survival rate of 15 cases undergoing radical resection in the EGIST group was 85.6%, which was lower than that of the DGIST group (88.6%), and the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.745). There was no significant difference in the 3-year overall survival rate between the EGIST group (92.9%) and the DGIST group (100%) (P=0.271). Conclusions: As compared to DGIST, EGIST mostly occurs in those with older age, larger tumor size and higher risk grade. The prognosis of EGIST patients after radical resection is similar to that of DGIST patients.

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to identify clinicopathological factors predictive of lymph node metastasis in patients with the poorly differentiated early gastric cancer (EGC) to assess the feasibility of using endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Methods: The records of patients with poorly differentiated early gastric cancer undergoing gastric radical resection between January 2012 and December 2016 were reviewed in Ruijin hospital. Those with distant metastasis, two or more malignant tumors, remnant gastric cancer, neo adjuvant therapy, previous history of gastric surgery or clear history of perigastric lymphadenectomy, and mixed tumors were excluded. Age, sex, presence of ulcerous lesion, tumor size, tumor location, depth of invasion, type of differentiation, lymphatic vessel invasion, vascular invasion, nerve invasion and HER2 expression were collected. Univariate and multivariate stepwise logistic regression analyses were used to identify the independent risk factors of perigastric lymph node metastasis.According to the Guidelines for the Treatment of Gastric Cancer (2018 edition) of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), the expanded indications of ESD for EGC are as follows: (1)no ulcerative lesions, the maximum diameter of lesions >2 cm of differentiated intramucosal cancer; (2)ulcerative lesions, the maximum diameter of lesions ≤3 cm of differentiated intramucosal cancer; (3)no ulcerative lesions, undifferentiated intramucosal carcinoma with diameter ≤2 cm. The relationship between clinicopathological factors and lymph node metastasis was analyzed. Results: A total of 517 patients, aged 21-83 (57.1±11.7), including 307 males and 210 females, were enrolled in the study. Among them, 114 (22.0%) patients had lymph node metastasis. Univariate analysis showed that ulcerative lesion (P=0.042), tumor diameter (P=0.048), depth of invasion (P<0.001), location of tumors (P<0.001), lymphatic vessel invasion (P=0.009), vascular invasion (P<0.001) and nerve invasion (P=0.028) were related to lymph node metastasis after radical resection of poorly differentiated early adenocarcinoma. Age, sex, type of differentiation and HER2 expression were not significantly correlated to lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that tumor size (OR=1.61, 95% CI: 1.03-2.52, P=0.037), depth of invasion (OR=2.77, 95% CI:1.66-4.63, P<0.001), lymphatic duct invasion (OR=14.74, 95% CI:1.58-137.36, P=0.018) were independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis in poorly differentiated EGC, and ulcerative lesion was not a risk factor for lymph node metastasis (OR=0.82, 95% CI:0.56-1.18,P=0.285). A total of 119 patients with poorly differentiated EGC fully complied with the relative indications of ESD recommended by the Japanese Statute and the criteria for radical resection after ESD. Among them, 14 (11.8%) still had perigastric lymph node metastasis, while the gender, tumor diameter, location, differentiation and HER2 expression were not associated with lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). Conclusion: For patients with poorly differentiated EGC, the application of ESD should be carefully weighed with precise assessment of tumor diameter, depth of invasion, and lymphatic duct invasion.

Abstract
Because of the difficulty of treatment in its latest stages, cancer is among the leading causes of death worldwide. Therefore, high-affinity and specificity biomarkers are still in demand for many cancer types, and the utility of aptamers to serve in this regard has been explored recently. Although a process known as "systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment" (SELEX) has been used to generate aptamer-based cancer biomarkers, this approach is complicated, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. An automated microfluidic system was consequently developed herein to screen ovarian cancer-specific aptamers via on-chip SELEX with clinical cancer tissue samples. The integrated microfluidic system consisted of an integrated microfluidic chip, a temperature control module equipped with 12 thermoelectric coolers, and a flow control module for controlling 36 electromagnetic valves such that the entire, tissue-based SELEX process could be fully automated and carried out within 15 h. Highly specific ovarian cancer aptamers with high affinity (dissociation constant of 129 nM) to their cellular targets were screened with this system. Given the comparable specificity to their much more expensive antibody counterparts, these aptamers, when used in conjunction with the developed microfluidic system, may be used to diagnose ovarian cancer in its earliest stages.

Abstract
Anaerobic digestion (AD) uses a range of substrates to generate biogas, including energy crops such as globally abundant rice straw (RS). Unfortunately, RS is high in lignocellulosic material and has high to C:N ratios (~80:1), which makes it (alone) a comparatively poor substrate for AD. Co-digestion with dairy manure (DM) has been promoted as a method for balancing C:N ratios to improve RS AD whilst also treating another farm waste and co-producing a potentially useful fertiliser. However, past co-digestion studies have not directly compared RS AD microbial communities with and without DM additions, which has made it hard to assess all impacts of DM addition to RS AD processes. Here, four RS:DM ratios were contrasted in identical semi-continuous-fed AD bioreactors, and 100% RS was found to produce the highest specific methane yields (112 mL CH4/g VS/day; VS, volatile solids), which is over double yields achieved in the reactor with the highest DM content (30:70 RS:DM by mass; 48 mL CH4/g VS/day). To underpin these data, microbial communities were sequenced and characterised across the four reactors. Dominant operational taxonomic units (OTUs) in the 100% RS unit were Bacteroidetes/Firmicutes, whereas the 30:70 RS:DM unit was dominated by Proteobacteria/Spirochaetes, suggesting major microbial community shifts occur with DM additions. However, community richness was lowest with 100% RS (despite higher specific yields), suggesting particular OTUs may be more important to yields than microbial diversity. Further, ambient VFA and VS levels were significantly higher when no DM was added, suggesting DM-amended reactors may cope better with higher organic loading rates (OLR). Results show that RS AD without DM addition is feasible, although co-digestion with DM will probably allow higher OLRs, resulting in great RS throughput in farm AD units.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To use the cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to evaluate the three-dimensional (3D) changes of maxillary landmarks in the maxillary protraction with alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction and with rapid palatal expansion, and to provide some clinical suggestions for the early treatment of Class III malocclusion. METHODS A total of 36 maxillary retrusive patients were included and randomized in a 1:1 ratio to either the intervention group (alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction group, RPE/C) or the control group (rapid palatal expansion group, RPE). Randomization was accomplished with permuted block randomization based on participation sequence. The patients in the RPE/C were treated for 10 weeks (0.5 mm/d) with the repetition of two-week palatal expansion and two-week palatal constriction. The patients in the RPE were taught to complete rapid palatal expansion for 2 weeks (0.5 mm/d ). The patients were instructed to come to the office for the follow-up to ensure the correct procedures. Damaged expanders were repaired (or replaced) and rebanded quickly. Sequential CBCT images including pretreatment (T1), post-expansion (T2) and post-protraction (T3) were required for 3D reconstruction, establishment of landmarks, measurement and analysis by Mimics 10.01. RESULTS There was significant forward movement of subspinale (A) in the RPE/C after the treatment with (3.06±1.29) mm, compared with RPE (2.16±1.27) mm, P<0.05. There were more symmetrical changes of the landmarks in the RPE/C and there was no statistic significance of the entire treatment time between the two groups. Moreover, the maxillary skeletal landmarks had the following 3D changes of a forward and downward movement during the expansion stages T2-T1, a forward and upward movement during the protraction stages T3-T2 and a forward and downward movement during the total treatments T3-T1 compared with the control group. And the width between the bilateral landmarks increased during the expansion stages T2-T1, narrowed down during the protraction stages T3-T2 and increased during the total treatments T3-T1. CONCLUSION The maxillary protraction with alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction provided clinical benefits on maxillary advancement and symmetrical changes in the orthopedic treatment of the patients with maxillary retrognathism and it required further study on the orthodontic analysis and measurements of CBCT.

Abstract
The correlation between meridians and viscera is the key content of the meridian theory in acupuncture medicine. This paper introduces the close relationship between the meridians running on the body surface and viscera from ancient lite-rature, modern experimental studies (such as acupoint sensitization, neuro-endocrine-immune networks, etc.), and clinical application in the treatment of various conditions with acupuncture, moxibustion, Guasha (scraping) therapies, etc. We also presented some related research ideas (i.e., taking the clinical treatment as the forerunner, paying more attention to multi-disciplinary integration, combining clinical and basic research together, doing research from tridimensional point of review, and making full use of advanced technology, etc.) in order to provide a possibly favorable help for researchers to further reveal the scientific mechanisms underlying correlation between the meridian and viscera in the future.

Abstract
Background Glioma stem cells (GSCs) contribute to tumor recurrence and drug resistance. This study characterizes the tumorigenesis of CD133+ cells and their sensitivity to pharmacological inhibition. Methods GSCs from human U87 and rat C6 glioblastoma cell lines were isolated via magnetic cell sorting using CD133 as a cancer stem cell marker. Cell proliferation was determined using the WST-1 assay. An intracranial mouse model and bioluminescence imaging were used to assess the effects of drugs on tumor growth in vivo. Results CD133+ cells expressed stem cell markers and exhibited self-renewal and enhanced tumor formation. Minocycline (Mino) was more effective in reducing the survival rate of CD133+ cells, whereas CD133− cells were more sensitive to inhibition by the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) inhibitor. Inhibition of STAT3 decreased the expression of CD133+ stem cell markers. The combination of Mino and STAT3 inhibitor synergistically reduced the cell viability of glioma cells. Furthermore, this combination synergistically suppressed tumor growth in nude mice. Conclusion The results suggest that concurrent targeting of different subpopulations of glioblastoma cells may be an effective therapeutic strategy for patients with malignant glioma.

Abstract
In this study, we found a mosquito antimicrobial peptide (AMP), Aedes aegypti cecropin B (Aacec B), was expressed constitutively in pupae. Knockdown in the pupae of Aacec B using double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) resulted in high mortality, the emergence of deformed adults and an impairment of pharate adult cuticle formation with fewer lamellae being deposited and the helicoidal pattern of the chitin microfibrils being disorganized. Simultaneous injection of Aacec B dsRNA and Aacec B peptide into pupae significantly reduced this mortality and no deformed adults then emerged. The expression levels of Ae. aegypti prophenoloxidase (AaPPO) 3 and AaPPO 4 were significantly reduced in the Aacec B knockdown pupae. Exogenous Aacec B peptide significantly enhanced the transcription of AaPPO 3 in pupae. Knockdown of AaPPO 3 in pupae caused effects similar to Aacec B-knockdown. The Aacec B peptide could be detected in both the cytoplasm and nuclei of pupal cells and was able to bind to the TTGG(A/C)A motif in AaPPO 3 DNA both in vitro and in vivo. These findings suggest that Aacec B plays a crucial role in pharate adult cuticle formation via the regulation of AaPPO 3 gene expression in pupae.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical features of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) patients with poor response to treatment. Methods: A total of 61 AIH patients were enrolled, among whom 49 (80.33%) achieved complete response (good response group) and 12 (19.67%) had incomplete response (poor response group). The two groups were compared in terms of clinical manifestations, laboratory markers, abdominal ultrasound findings, pathological features by liver biopsy, and response to treatment. Continuous data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation (x±s), and the t-test was used for comparison between groups; categorical data were expressed as rates or percentages, and the chi-square test was used for comparison between groups; a binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine influencing factors. Results: Most patients were female in both groups, and there were no significant differences in sex ratio, mean age of onset, and general status including extrahepatic autoimmune disease between the two groups. Compared with the good response group, the poor response group had significantly higher levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin, immunoglobulin G, and immunoglobulin M (P < 0.05). Compared with the good response group, the poor response group had a significantly higher positive rate of autoimmune antibodies except anti-nuclear antibody (ANA), anti-smooth muscle antibody (SMA), antimitochondrial antibody (AMA), and AMA/M2 (75% vs 16.3%, P < 0.001), and there was a significant difference in the positive rate of gp210 antibody between the two groups (25% vs 0%, P < 0.01). There were significant differences between the poor response group and the good response group in the proportion of patients with liver cirrhosis (50.0 % vs 16.3%, P < 0.05) and splenomegaly (58.3% vs 22.4%, P < 0.05). The binary logistic regression analysis showed that a high serum level of ALP (odds ratio [OR] = 1.017, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.001-1.033, P = 0.034), positive autoimmune antibodies except ANA, SMA, and AMA/M2 (OR = 70.842, 95% CI 2.132-2 354.371, P = 0.017), and liver cirrhosis (OR = 28.777, 95% CI 1.015-815.854, P = 0.049) were independent risk factors for initial treatment outcome. Conclusion: A high serum level of ALP, positive autoimmune antibodies except ANA, SMA, and AMA/M2, and liver cirrhosis are closely associated with poor response in AIH patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the changes of different parts of upper airway after alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction via three dimensional measurement, compared with the protocol of rapid palatal expansion alone. METHODS In the study, 36 patients with retrognathic maxilla were selected and randomized to either group A or group B. The patients in group A were treated with rapid palatal expansion alone. The patients in group B were treated with alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction. Three dimensional analyses were performed on all pre- and post-treatment cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images with the software Dolphin. RESULTS Two subjects in group B were lost to follow up during the treatment. The gender distributions, ages and all measuring items before treatment had no significant difference between group A and group B (P>0.05). Nasal floor width, nasal lateral width, nasal volume, and nasopharynx volume increased significantly in each group after rapid palatal expansion alone or rapid palatal expansion and constriction (P<0.05). The variations of oropharyngeal volume and hypopharyngeal volume had no significant difference (P>0.05). No significant difference was observed in the nasal floor width and nasal lateral width increment among the anterior, median and posterior parts in each group either (P>0.05). No significant difference in all the measuring items was observed between the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION Alternating rapid palatal expansion and constriction could increase the volume of nasal and naopharynx cavities by the similar way of rapid palatal expansion alone, and had no obvious effect on oropharynx and hypopharynx cavities.

Abstract
KEY MESSAGE: miR319 was identified as a dwarf-inducing gene from Shiokari and its dwarf near isogenic line, and its transgenic rice showed a reduced plant height. This finding reveals the potential application of miR319 in future molecular breeding. It is well known that microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in plant physiology, especially in development and stress responses. However, little is known about the role of miRNAs in plant height. In this study, the rice cultivar Shiokari and its dwarf near isogenic line Shiokari-d6 were analysed to identify and characterize plant height-associated miRNAs. This anatomic and morphological investigation revealed that the major cause of the shorter height of Shiokari-d6 is the significantly dis-elongated internodes, particularly the second internode and those underneath it. The results of miRNA microarray profiling and real-time RT-PCR indicated that miR319 is expressed at a significantly higher level in Shiokari-d6 than in Shiokari. Transgenic rice overexpressing miR319 in Oryza sativa L. cv. Tainung 67 generated through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation had a stable dwarf phenotype regardless of whether the plants were from the T1 or T2 generation. We also found that the internodes of miR319-overexpressing rice are shortened, particularly the third internode and those underneath it. Furthermore, we identified three putative miR319 target genes that were previously uncharacterized with expression levels that were negatively correlated with the expression of miR319. In conclusion, miR319 is the first miRNA proposed to be involved in plant height regulation, and its function may influence the elongation of internodes, which leads to decreased plant height.

Abstract
The potential of the diverse chemistries present in natural products (NP) for biotechnology and medicine remains untapped because NP databases are not searchable with raw data and the NP community has no way to share data other than in published papers. Although mass spectrometry (MS) techniques are well-suited to high-throughput characterization of NP, there is a pressing need for an infrastructure to enable sharing and curation of data. We present Global Natural Products Social Molecular Networking (GNPS; http://gnps.ucsd.edu), an open-access knowledge base for community-wide organization and sharing of raw, processed or identified tandem mass (MS/MS) spectrometry data. In GNPS, crowdsourced curation of freely available community-wide reference MS libraries will underpin improved annotations. Data-driven social-networking should facilitate identification of spectra and foster collaborations. We also introduce the concept of 'living data' through continuous reanalysis of deposited data.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore in vivo the expression of insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ(IGF-Ⅰ)under stress, and to analyze changes of the local expression related to recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH)treatment. METHODS Forty Wistar rats were randomly divided into control and growth hormone groups, 20 in each group. A force of 0.49 N was applied to move the right upper first molars mesially. The growth hormone group and control group received daily subcutaneous injections of rhGH and equivalent volumes of saline, respectively. The rats were sacrificed on days 1, 3, 7 and 14. Micro-CT-reconstructed images were used to survey root resorption, and horizontal sections of the maxillae were prepared for tartrate-resistant acid phosphate(TRAP)and immunohistochemistry staining. RESULTS Tooth moved faster in the growth hormone group([0.291±0.017], [0.513±0.111]mm)than in the control group([0.245±0.033], [0.368± 0.052]mm)on days 7 and 14(P<0.05). More osteoclasts on day 3, and fewer osteoclasts on day 7 were observed in the growth hormone group([4.0±0.7], [2.6±0.6]cell/high-power field)than in the control group([2.8±0.6], [3.8±0.8]cell/high-power field)(P<0.05). The number of IGF-Ⅰ positive osteoclasts in the growth hormone group([4.7 ± 0.7]cell/high-power field)was significantly greater than that in the control group([2.7±0.5]cell/high-power field)(P<0.01)on day 3. Compared with the control group([18.6±1.5], [23.3± 3.8]cell/high-power field), IGF-Ⅰ positive PDL cells increased on days 7 and 14 in the growth hormone groups([29.6±3.4], [37.5±6.1]cell/high-power field)(P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS rhGH could stimulate IGF-Ⅰ expression in PDL, and accelerate bone remodeling and tooth movement.
