Abstract
The efficiency of iron/aluminum co-modified zeolite (FeAl-Z) covering and amendment for controlling the internal loading of phosphorus (P) from sediment to the overlying water (OW) and its controlling mechanism were explored. The response of the composition of sedimentary microbial communities in sediment and their function to the FeAl-Z capping and amendment was also examined. FeAl-Z showed good removal performance for phosphate in aqueous solution. The maximum phosphate adsorption quantity for FeAl-Z at pH 7 attained 11.2 mg P/g. The release of sediment endogenous phosphorus to OW can be successfully restrained by the FeAl-Z covering and amendment, and the suppression ability of FeAl-Z covering was stronger than that of FeAl-Z amendment. Under the capping or amendment condition, FeAl-Z can effectively inactivate the labile phosphorus measured by diffusion gradient in thin film (DGT-LP) in the overlying water and surface sediment. The added FeAl-Z transformed redox-sensitive phosphorus (BD-P) to metal oxide-bound phosphorus (NaOH-IP) and residual phosphorus (Res-P) in sediment, which increased the stability of inorganic phosphorus in the sediment. The passivation of soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) and DGT-LP in the surface sediment by FeAl-Z significantly contributed to the inhibition of sediment endogenous phosphorus release to OW by the FeAl-Z capping, and the passivation of SRP, DGT-LP and mobile phosphorus in the surface sediment played a pivotal role in the control of sediment internal phosphorus release by the FeAl-Z amendment. The FeAl-Z amendment and capping did not increase the liberation risk of Fe from sediment, and the microorganisms in the sediments under the conditions of FeAl-Z amendment and covering still can perform good ecological functions. Results of this research demonstrate that FeAl-Z capping has high application potential in the control of phosphorus transfer from sediment to OW.

Abstract
Bacteria-based cancer therapy (BBCT) strains grow selectively in primary tumors and metastases, colonize solid tumors independent of genetics, and kill cells resistant to standard molecular therapy. Clinical trials of BBCT in solid tumors have not reported any survival advantage yet, partly due to the limited bacterial colonization. Collagen, abundant in primary and metastatic solid tumors, has a well-known role in hindering intratumoral penetration of therapeutics. Nevertheless, the effect of collagen content on the intratumoral penetration and antitumor efficacy of BBCT is rarely unexplored. We hypothesized that the presence of collagen limits the penetration and, thereby, the antitumor effects of tumor-selective Salmonella. Typhimurium VNP20009 cheY+. We tested our hypothesis in low and high collagen content tumor spheroid models of triple-negative murine breast cancer. We found that high collagen content significantly hinders bacteria transport in tumors, reducing bacteria penetration and distribution by ~7-fold. The higher penetration of bacteria in low collagen-content tumors led to an overwhelming antitumor effect (~73% increase in cell death), whereas only a 28% increase in cell death was seen in the high collagen-content tumors. Our mathematical modeling of intratumoral bacterial colonization delineates the role of growth and diffusivity, suggesting an order of magnitude lower diffusivity in the high collagen-content tumors dominates the observed outcomes. Finally, our single-cell resolution analysis reveals a strong spatial correlation between bacterial spatial localization and collagen content, further corroborating that collagen acts as a barrier to bacterial penetration despite S. Typhimurium VNP20009 cheY+ motility. Understanding the effect of collagen on BBCT performance could lead to engineering more efficacious BBCT strains capable of overcoming this barrier to colonization of primary tumors and metastases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence on the association of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection with Alzheimer's disease (AD) is scarce and the results are inconsistent. OBJECTIVE To investigate the association of CMV infection with the risk of AD. METHODS Observational studies on the relationship between CMV infection and AD were identified from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library until September 30, 2022. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Random-effect meta-analysis was performed using a generic inverse-variance method, followed by sensitivity analyses and subgroup analyses based on study designs, regions, adjustments, and population types. RESULTS Our search yielded 870 articles, of which 200 were duplicates and 663 did not meet the inclusion criteria, and finally yielded seven studies with 6,772 participants. No strong evidence was observed in the summary analysis for the association of CMV infection and risk of AD (odds ratio [OR] = 1.33; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.88, 2.03, I2 =69.9%). However, subgroup analysis showed that an increased risk of AD was detected in East Asians (OR = 2.39; 95% CI: 1.63, 3.50, I2 = 0.00%), cohort studies (OR = 1.99; 95% CI: 1.35, 2.94, I2 = 28.20%), and studies with confounder adjustment (OR = 2.05; 95% CI: 1.52, 2.77, I2 = 0.00%). CONCLUSIONS This meta-analysis provides evidence to support the heterogeneity of the associations between CMV infection and AD. Future studies with larger sample sizes and multi-ethnic populations are necessary.

Abstract
Four kinds of iron-based materials, i.e., iron-modified attapulgite, calcite, bentonite and dolomite (abbreviated as Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL, respectively) were prepared and used to immobilize the phosphorus in the system of overlying water (O-water) and sediment under the feed input condition, and their immobilization efficiencies and mechanisms were investigated. The influence of application mode on the immobilization of phosphorus in the water-sediment system by Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL was researched. The effects of Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL on the concentration of labile iron in the water-sediment system and the microbial communities in sediment were also studied. The results showed that the Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL addition all can effectively immobilize the soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP), dissolved total phosphorus (DTP) and diffusive gradients in thin-films (DGT)-labile phosphorus in O-water under the feed input condition, and also had the ability to inactivate the DGT-labile phosphorus in the top sediment. Although the change in the application mode from the one-time addition to the multiple addition reduced the inactivation efficiencies of SRP and DTP in O-water in the early period of application, it increased the immobilization efficiencies in the later period of application. Although Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL had a certain releasing risk of iron into the pore water, they had negligible risk of iron release into O-water. The addition of Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT or Fe-DOL reshaped the sediment bacterial community structure and can affect the microorganism-driven phosphorus cycle in the sediment. Results of this work suggest that Fe-ATP, Fe-CA, Fe-BT and Fe-DOL are promising phosphorus-inactivation materials to immobilize the phosphorus in the water-sediment system under the feed input condition.

Abstract
The use of in situ active capping to control phosphorus release from sediment has attracted more and more attentions in recent years. It is important to identify the effect of capping mode on the control of phosphorus release from sediment by the in situ active capping method. In this study, the impact of capping mode on the restraint of phosphorus migration from sediment into overlying water (OW) by lanthanum hydroxide (LH) was studied. Under no suspended particulate matter (SPM) deposition condition, LH capping effectively restrained the liberation of endogenous phosphorus into OW during anoxia, and the inactivation of diffusive gradient in thin film-unstable phosphorus (UPDGT) and mobile phosphorus (PMobile) in the topmost sediment served as a significant role in the restraint of endogenous phosphorus migration into OW by LH capping. Under no SPM deposition, although the transformation of capping mode from the single high dose capping to the multiple smaller doses capping had a certain negative impact on the restraint efficiency of endogenous phosphorus liberation to OW by LH in the early period of application, it increased the stability of phosphorus in the static layer in the later period of application. Under SPM deposition condition, LH capping had the capability to mitigate the risk of endogenous phosphorus liberation into OW under anoxia conditions, and the inactivation of UPDGT and PMobile in the topmost sediment was a significant mechanism for the control of sediment phosphorus liberation into OW by LH capping. Under SPM deposition condition, the change in the covering mode from the one-time high dose covering to the multiple smaller doses covering decreased the efficiency of LH to limit the endogenous phosphorus transport into OW in the early period of application, but it increased the performance of LH to restrain the sedimentary P liberation during the later period of application. The results of this work suggest that the multiple LH capping is a promising approach for controlling the internal phosphorus loading in freshwater bodies where SPM deposition often occurs in the long run.

Abstract
This study developed novel active capping systems with recycling convenience using ferrihydrite (Fh) combined with magnetite (Mag), and investigated the effectiveness and mechanism for the restriction of endogenous phosphorus movement from sediment into overlying water (OW) by the combined use of Fh and Mag. The Fh/Mag combined amendment effectively hindered endogenous phosphorus release from sediment to OW in dissolved oxygen (DO)-deficit environment, and the immobilization of diffusion gradient in thin film-labile phosphorus (LPDGT) and mobile phosphorus in the sediment played a key role in the control of endogenous phosphorus liberation by the Fh/Mag combined amendment. Combined capping sediment with Fh and Mag effectively hindered endogenous phosphorus release from sediment to OW in anoxic environment, and the inactivation of LPDGT in the upper sediment played a key part in the control of sediment phosphorus release by the Fh/Mag mixture capping. The stability of phosphorus immobilized by the Fh/Mag combined covering layer was related to its construction way, and the majority (around 90%) of P immobilized to the Fh/Mag mixture covering layer had low risk of release in common pH (5-9) and DO-deficit environments. The Fh/Mag mixture amendment or capping did not increase the risk of sediment iron release, and it also did not produce a large impact on the diversity and richness of bacterial community in the sediment. The combined utilization of Fh and Mag as a composite amendment or capping material to prevent the internal phosphorus from being moved to OW can make full use of their respective advantages. The Fh/Mag mixture capping wrapped by permeable fabric has high potential to reduce the risk of endogenous phosphorus from sediment into OW due to its advantages of high internal phosphorus release suppression efficiency, environmental friendliness, application convenience and sustainability.

Abstract
The objective of this work was to explore the influence of combined aging treatment using Na+, Ca2+, Cl-, HCO3- and SO42- on the adsorption of phosphate (HiPO4i-3) onto and the restraint of internal phosphorus (P) migration into overlying water (OW) by lanthanum modified bentonite (LMB). To achieve this aim, the adsorption characteristics and mechanisms of HiPO4i-3 onto the raw and aged LMBs (named as R-LMB and A-LMB, respectively) were comparatively studied, and the effects of R-LMB and A-LMB treatments (addition and capping) on the migration of P from sediment to OW were comparatively investigated. The results showed that the combined aging treatment of R-LMB with Na+, Ca2+, Cl-, HCO3- and SO42- inhibited the adsorption of HiPO4i-3. Similar to R-LMB, the precipitation of HiPO4i-3 with La3+ to form LaPO4 and the ligand exchange between CO32- and HiPO4i-3 to form the inner-sphere lanthanum-phosphate complexes are the important mechanisms for the HiPO4i-3 uptake by A-LMB. The R-LMB addition and capping can be effective in the suppression of endogenous P release to OW under hypoxia conditions. The inactivation of diffusive gradient in thin film-unstable P (DGT-UP) and potentially mobile P (PM-P) in sediment acted as a key role in the restraint of internal P release to OW by the R-LMB addition, and the immobilization of DGT-UP and PM-P in the topmost sediment played a key role in the interception of endogenous P migration into OW by the R-LMB capping. Although the Na+/Ca2+/Cl-/HCO3-/SO42- combined aging treatment had a certain negative effect on the efficiencies of LMB addition and capping to hinder the liberation of P from sediment into OW, the A-LMB addition and capping still can be effective in the control of sediment internal phosphorus pollution to a certain degree. The results of this work indicate that LMB has a high potential to be used as a capping/amendment material to control internal phosphorus pollution.

Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness and mechanism for the control of internal phosphorus (P) liberation from sediment by hydrous zirconium oxide (HZrO2) combined with calcite, bentonite and zeolite. The results suggested that coexisting calcite, calcium-modified bentonite (CaBT) and calcium-modified zeolite (CaZ) all had the ability to promote the adsorption of phosphate (PO43-) onto HZrO2. The mechanisms of PO43- elimination by HZrO2/calcite mixture involved the adsorption of PO43- on calcite, the precipitation of PO43- with Ca2+, and the inner-sphere complexation of PO43- with HZrO2. The amendment of sediment with HZrO2/calcite, HZrO2/CaBT or HZrO2/CaZ mixture can effectively prevent the sedimentary P release, and the immobilization of mobile P in the sediment and the uptake of dissolved reactive P (DRP) from the interstitial water by the amendment material played a key role in the control of P release from sediment by the combined amendment. Capping sediment with HZrO2/calcite, HZrO2/CaBT or HZrO2/CaZ mixture also can effectively intercept sediment P release, and the formation of P static layer attributed to the uptake of interstitial water DRP and DGT (diffusive gradient in thin-films)-unstable P in the upper sediment by the capping material was a key to the inhibition of sedimentary P migration into the overlying water by the combined capping. The great majority of P immobilized by the HZrO2/calcite, HZrO2/CaBT or HZrO2/CaZ combined covering layer is stable P and it has a low re-releasing risk under dissolved oxygen-deficit and pH 5-9 condition. The stability of P bound by the combined covering layer was larger than that by the single HZrO2 covering layer. The results of this research show that the combined use of HZrO2 and calcite, HZrO2 and CaBT, or HZrO2 and CaZ as a capping material has great potential in the reduction of sediment P loading.

Abstract
The characteristics and mechanism of phosphate adsorption onto magnetite, hematite and goethite were comparatively studied, and the effects of magnetite, hematite and goethite amendment and capping on endogenous phosphorus (P) liberation from sediment into overlying water (OW) were comparatively investigated. The adsorption of phosphate onto magnetite, hematite and goethite mainly obeyed the inner-sphere complexation mechanism, and the phosphate adsorption capacity decreased in the order of magnetite > goethite > hematite. The magnetite, hematite and goethite amendment all can decrease the risk of endogenous Prelease into OW under anoxic conditions, and the inactivation of diffusion gradients in thin films-labile P in sediment made a great contribution to the restraint of endogenous P release into OW by the magnetite, hematite and goethite amendment. The efficiency of endogenous P release restraint by the iron oxide addition decreased in the order of magnetite > goethite > hematite. The magnetite, hematite and goethite capping all can be effective for the suppression of endogenous P release from sediment into OW under anoxic conditions, and most of P immobilized by the magnetite, hematite and goethite capping layers is relatively or very stable. The results obtained from this work suggest that magnetite is more suitably used a capping/amendment material to prevent P release from sediment than hematite and goethite, and magnetite capping is a promising approach for hindering sedimentary P release into OW.

Abstract
After placing an active capping material on surface sediments, the capping layer will be buried by the newly formed sediment. In this research, the influence of sediment burial depth on the performance of iron/aluminum co-modified calcite (FeAlCAL) to suppress sedimentary phosphorus (P) release into overlaying water (OL-water) was studied. Furthermore, in order to find out the strategy for overcoming the negative effect of sediment burial, the efficiencies and mechanisms of three different FeAlCAL treatments (one-time FeAlCAL capping with 3 cm sediment burial, multiple FeAlCAL capping with 1 cm sediment burial, and amendment of top 3 cm sediment with FeAlCAL) in the inhibition of sediment P release were contrastively studied. The results showed that with the increase of sediment burial depth, the efficiency of FeAlCAL to block the release of sediment P into OL-water gradually decreased until the FeAlCAL lost the ability to hinder sediment-P release. In contrast to the one-time FeAlCAL capping in the presence of 3 cm sediment burial, the multiple FeAlCAL capping in the presence of 1 cm sediment burial and amendment of top 3 cm sediment with FeAlCAL both effectively prevented the release of P from sediment into OL-water. All results of this work suggest that although sediment burial can negatively affect the ability of FeAlCAL in the inhibition of sediment P release into OL-water and the negative effect becomes stronger as the sediment burial depth increases, the transformation of the application mode of FeAlCAL from one-time capping to multiple capping or from capping to amendment can overcome the negative influence of sediment burial.

Abstract
Classical swine fever (CSF) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) are responsible for major economic losses and represent a threat to the swine industry worldwide. Routine surveillance serology for CSF and PRRS viruses is critical to maintaining the health status of sow farms in Hunan Province, which is one of the top pig production provinces in China. The aim of our study was to investigate the serological statistics of CSF virus (CSFV) and PRRS virus (PRRSV) in Hunan Province. The cohort serum samples were collected from vaccinated and unvaccinated pigs. Our findings showed that the average rates of CSFV and PRRSV antibody seropositivity were 82.2% (95% CI: 80.1-84.3) and 84.8% (95% CI: 82.5-87.1), respectively, in the immunized group and that these rates were higher than those in the unvaccinated group (58.6% for CSFV and 47.8% for PRRSV). Additionally, the level of CSFV antibody in piglet serum declined gradually with age, whereas PRRSV-specific antibody level increased initially (1 to 2 weeks old) and then declined with age (2 to 4 weeks old). In summary, we investigated the difference in CSFV/PRRSV antibody levels among piglets at various weeks old (1 to 4 weeks) to further establish the duration of maternal immunity in piglets. In addition, routine monitoring of CSFV/PRRSV antibodies in immunized pigs was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination.

Abstract
In this research, the influence of application mode (capping and amendment) on the control of cadmium (Cd) liberation from sediment by apatite/calcite mixture and its phosphorus release risk were investigated. The results showed that calcite addition had a limited effect on the speciation of Cd in sediment, but apatite addition had a significant impact on the fractionation of Cd in sediment. Apatite amendment could effectively immobilize the most readily mobilized Cd by transferring the acid-soluble fraction to the reducible and residual fractions. Apatite addition also could effectively reduce the concentration of toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP)-leachable Cd in sediment, and apatite had a much higher reduction efficiency of TCLP-leachable Cd than calcite. Apatite/calcite mixture capping could reduce the risk of Cd liberation from sediment into the overlying water, and the controlling efficiency of apatite/calcite mixture capping was higher than that of apatite/calcite mixture amendment. The effect of apatite/calcite mixture addition on the concentration of reactive soluble phosphorus (SRP) in the overlying water was limited. The introduction of calcite into the apatite capping layer could lower the risk of phosphorus release from apatite to the overlying water as compared to single apatite capping. However, the apatite/calcite mixture capping layer still had a relatively high risk of phosphorus liberation into the overlying water. Results of this work suggest that apatite/calcite mixture has a high potential to be used as a capping material to control Cd release from sediment from the perspective of controlling efficiency and application convenience.

Abstract
The objective of this work was to determine the effect of dosage on the immobilization of lead (Pb), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), nickel (Ni), and zinc (Zn) in sediment by red mud (RM). To achieve this aim, the adsorption characteristics and mechanism of Pb, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Zn from aqueous solution on RM were studied at first, and then the influence of the RM dosage on the fractionation and leaching potential of Pb, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Zn in sediment was investigated. The results showed that RM possessed high adsorption capacities for Pb(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) in aqueous solution. The maximum monolayer Pb(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) adsorption capacities for RM derived from the Langmuir isotherm model were found to be 296, 39.2, 70.2, 46.0, and 50.7 mg/g, respectively. The addition of RM into sediment could effectively reduce the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP)-leachable concentrations of Pb, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Zn in the sediment. The added RM could effectively immobilize the mobile (exchangeable, reducible, and oxidizable fractions) Pb in sediment by the conversion of the exchangeable and reducible fractions into the residual fraction, and it could effectively immobilize the mobile Cu, Cd, Ni, and Zn in sediment by the conversion of the exchangeable fraction into the residual fraction. The quantities of mobile Pb, Cu, Cd, and Ni immobilized by RM had a good linear relationship with the added RM. The above results suggest that RM is a promising amendment for the immobilization of mobile Pb, Cu, Cd, Ni, and Zn in sediment, and the linear relationship between the RM dosage and the quantities of immobilized Pb, Cu, Cd, and Ni by RM can be employed to determine the RM dosage required for the immobilization of mobile Pb, Cu, Cd, and Ni in sediment.

Abstract
In this research, the sorption characteristics and mechanism of phosphate on zirconium-modified attapulgite (Zr-ATP), iron-modified attapulgite (Fe-ATP), and zirconium/iron co-modified attapulgite (Zr/Fe-ATP) prepared by a simple impregnation method were studied, and the impacts of Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP amendment and capping on the migration of phosphorus (P) from sediments to overlying waters were investigated. The results showed that Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP possessed stronger adsorption ability for phosphate in aqueous solution than Fe-ATP. The ligand replacement of the hydroxyl group with the phosphate anion to form the inner-sphere phosphate complex played a crucial role in the adsorption process of phosphate on Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP. Most of the phosphate ions bound by Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP were in the form of caustic soda solution-extractable inorganic P (NaOH-IP) and residual P (Res-P), and it is hard for these P species to be re-released into water under the circumstances of reducing environment and normal pH (5-9). The ratio of mobile P to total P of Fe-ATP loaded with phosphate was much higher than those of Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP loaded with phosphate, indicating that Fe-ATP-bound phosphate has a higher re-releasing risk than Zr-ATP-bound and Zr/Fe-ATP-bound phosphate. Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP amendment all can reduce the releasing risk of P from sediments to overlying waters. The amendment of sediment with Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP can both induce the conversion of redox-sensitive P (BD-P) to NaOH-IP and Res-P in the sediment, making the phosphorus in the sediment more stable. However, the amendment of sediment with Fe-ATP can only induce the conversion of HCl-P to NaOH-IP in the sediment and had a negligible effect on the inorganic P activity in the sediment. Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP capping all can reduce the risk of P release from sediment into the overlying water, and Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP capping had a better reduction efficiency of internal P liberation to the overlying water than Fe-ATP capping. Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP capping all can give rise to the reduction of pore water SRP and diffusive gradient in thin-film (DGT)-labile P in the upper sediment. This is beneficial to the control of P releasing from sediment into the overlying water by the Zr-ATP, Fe-ATP, and Zr/Fe-ATP capping. The findings of this work suggest that Zr-ATP and Zr/Fe-ATP are promising active capping or amendment materials for internal P loading management in surface water bodies.

Abstract
The effectiveness and mechanism of aluminum/iron co-modified calcite (Al/Fe-CA) for the control of phosphorus (P) liberation from sediments was investigated. The results showed that Al/Fe-CA possessed good sorption performance for phosphate, and the maximum phosphate sorption capacity for Al/Fe-CA could reach 27.0 mg/g. The major mechanisms involved the surface adsorption of phosphate on calcite, the precipitation between phosphate and Ca2+ leached from calcite, and the ligand exchange between Al/Fe-bound hydroxyl groups and phosphate to form the Al-O-P and Fe-O-P inner-sphere complexes. The re-releasing risk of Al/Fe-CA-bound P under the circumstances of normal pH (5-9) and reducing environment was very low. Al/Fe-CA addition could significantly reduce the risk of P releasing from sediment to overlying water (OL-water), and the inactivation of mobile P, reactive soluble P (SRP) and diffusive gradient in thin-films (DGT)-labile P in sediment by Al/Fe-CA had a great part in the suppression of sediment-P liberation to OL-water by the Al/Fe-CA amendment. Al/Fe-CA capping and fabric-wrapped Al/Fe-CA capping both could greatly reduce the risk of P releasing from sediment into OL-water, and the formation of a static layer with low concentrations of SRP and DGT-labile P in the upper sediment was the key to sustaining a high P controlling efficiency. When the applied mode of Al/Fe-CA varied from capping to amendment, although the inactivation efficiency of DGT-labile P in the overlying water and upper sediment by Al/Fe-CA would decrease to a certain degree, the inactivation efficiency of DGT-labile P in the lower sediment by Al/Fe-CA would increase. Results of this study suggest that Al/Fe-CA has the high potential to be used as an active capping or amendment material for the management of internal P loading in surface water bodies.

Abstract
Tellurium (Te) is a scarce and valuable metalloid, which can be found in some mine tailings. In this work, an indigenous Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans strain was used to leach Te from mine tailings collected in the Shimian Te mine region, China. Under the optimized conditions of initial pH of 2·0, pulp density of 4% and temperature of 30°C, 47·77% of Te can be dissolved after 24 days of bioleaching. The leaching of Te by different systems such as bioleaching, Ferric ion (Fe(III)) leaching and acid leaching was compared. The results showed that the leaching behaviour of Te is similar to that of sulphur in sulphide minerals, that is, Fe(III) first oxidizes telluride (Te(-II)) in minerals to elemental Te, and then elemental Te can be oxidized by bacteria to Te(IV) and Te(VI). Besides, it was also showed by scanning electron microscope observation and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis of the ore sample before and after bioleaching that some bedded structure covered on the surface of the ore after bioleaching acting as a reaction compartment, and the changing of active groups indicated a possible attachment between bacteria and ore. There is an indirect mechanism involved in bioleaching of Te.

Abstract
STUDY QUESTION Do supraphysiologic estradiol (E2) levels in the ranges attained during normal and high response superovulation cycles modify the onset of endometrial secretory transformation? SUMMARY ANSWER Highly supraphysiologic levels of E2 do not alter the ability of physiologic levels of progesterone (P4) to induce secretory transformation. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Previous studies have demonstrated that premature P4 elevations during IVF cycles are associated with a decrement in clinical pregnancy rates after fresh embryo transfer due to shifts in the window of implantation (WOI). However, alterations in the onset of secretory transformation may not apply uniformly to all patients. High responders with supraphysiologic E2 levels accompanied by similar subtle increases in P4 have not been shown to have decreased sustained implantation rates. This prospective investigation in which whole-genome transcriptomic and methylomic analysis of the endometrium is performed for individual patients under a range of E2 concentrations brings clarity to a long-debated issue. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION A randomized, prospective and paired trial was conducted in which 10 participants were enrolled and randomized to the order in which they completed three distinct uterine stimulation cycles, each at a specific E2 concentration: physiologic (∼180 pg/ml), moderately supraphysiologic (600-800 pg/ml) or supraphysiologic (2000 pg/ml). Target E2 ranges were selected to mimic those seen in natural, controlled ovarian stimulation and IVF cycles. E2 valerate was administered in order to maintain stable E2 levels for 12 days followed by intramuscular P4 in oil 10 mg/day for two doses, after which an endometrial biopsy was performed. A total of 30 endometrial biopsies were included in a whole-genome transcriptomic and methylomic analysis. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Healthy volunteers without a history of infertility were included in this study at a single large infertility center. DNA was isolated from the endometrial biopsy specimens and bisulfite sequencing was performed to construct a methylation array. Differential methylation analysis was conducted based on differences in M-values of individuals across treatment groups for each probe as well as carrying out t-tests. RNA was isolated for RNA-Seq analysis and gene expression values were compared using DESeq2. All analyses were performed in a pairwise fashion to compare among the three stimulation cycles within individuals and secondarily to compare all participants in each of the cycles. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE The mean peak E2 and P4 levels were 275 pg/ml and 4.17 ng/ml in the physiologic group, 910 pg/ml and 2.69 ng/ml in the moderate group was, and 2043 pg/ml and 2.64 ng/ml in the supraphysiologic group, respectively. Principal component analysis of 834 913 CpG sites was performed on M-values of individuals within the low, moderate and supraphysiologic conditions in a paired approach. There were no differences in genome-wide methylation within participants across E2 groups. A paired analysis revealed that gene expression profiles did not differ within the same individual at each of the three E2 levels. No significant alterations in gene expression as related to endometrial physiology were identified between the low, moderate and supraphysiologic groups in an inter-participant analysis. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Although each participant completed a physiologic cycle in which E2 levels were maintained in a range that would simulate a natural cycle, our findings are limited by lack of an unmedicated control to assess if there was a potential effect from E2V. Additionally, our results were obtained in fertile individuals, who may have a different endometrial response compared to an infertile population. Despite the whole genomic endometrial assessment and rigorous, paired study design, the sample size was limited. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Given that the endometrial response to P4 is unaffected by E2 levels in the supraphysiologic range, diminutions in implantation seen in stimulated cycles may result from embryonic-endometrial dyssynchrony following early P4 elevations or slowly blastulating embryos, which occur independently of the magnitude of the E2 rise. Abstract
Objective: To analyze the possible fusion genes with high-throughput transcriptome sequencing in myeloid leukemia patients with normal karyotype. Methods: From May 2017 to January 2019, three cases of myeloid leukemia patients with normal karyotype and negative for common fusion genes from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were selected as the research objects. The transcriptome sequencing of bone marrow mononuclear cells was performed by high-throughput gene sequencing technology. Defuse software was used to analyze the gene fusion sequence in the transcriptome data, reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Sanger sequencing were used to verify the fusion gene with clear pathological significance. Results: All three patients were diagnosed with myeloid leukemia by clinical manifestations, bone marrow cell morphology, immunology, and histochemical staining. Cytogenetic tests showed normal chromosome karyotypes. Fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT-PCR were used to detect BCR-ABL1, PML-RARA, and other common fusion genes. The results were all negative. Transcriptome sequencing and fusion transcripts analysis revealed that these three patients carried rare fusion genes with clear pathological significance, which included BCR-FGFR1, CPSF6-RARG, and NUP98-RARG, respectively. Conclusion: Transcriptome sequencing can accurately analyze rare but pathologically significant fusion genes that may exist in myeloid leukemia patients with normal karyotypes.

Abstract
Purpose To understand the long term effect of COVID-19 on 1) heart transplant waitlist trends and on 2) heart transplant case numbers in the United States. Methods The number of new adult heart transplant waitlist additions and transplant procedures were obtained from the UNOS database. Our time frame includes the 52 weeks between September 3, 2019 and September 4, 2020. Temporal changes in waitlist additions and heart transplants were analyzed using interrupted time series analyses with two transition periods. The first transition from the pre-COVID to the post-COVID era was determined as the week of March 11, 2020, when the first state imposed stay-at-home orders. The second transition period was determined as the first state re-opening during the week of April 22, 2020. Results Weekly waitlist additions were decreasing at -0.19 additions per week (95% CI: -0.35 to -0.03, p=0.018) prior to the COVID-19 era, defined as before the week of March 11, 2020, with a significant decrease in weekly waitlist additions of -2.09 (95% CI: -2.44 to -1.73, p< 0.001) during the post-COVID-19 era and prior to the first state re-opening the week of April 22, 2020 (Figure A). Weekly waitlist additions increased at 2.16 additions per week (95% CI: 1.81 to 2.51, p<0.001) following the first state announcing re-opening the week of April 22, 2020. Weekly transplants were relatively unstable, although decreasing at -0.003 transplants per week (95% CI: -0.279 to 0.273, p=0.984) in the pre-COVID era, and were trending downward at -0.18 transplants per week (95% CI: -0.3702 to 0.0036, p=0.054) thereafter (Figure B). The number of transplants rebounded and increased significantly at 0.49 transplants per week (95% CI: 0.26 to 0.72, p<0.001) after April 22, 2020. Conclusion The number of heart transplants and waitlist additions decreased significantly due to COVID-19 and rebounded following the first US state reopening the week of April 22, 2020. Waitlist additions continue to rise past levels observed during the pre-COVID era.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to analyse bacterial community and biomineralization products from Wudalianchi non-active volcanic field and the relationship between magnetization and bacterial community. METHODS AND RESULTS Eighteen sediment samples obtained from Wenbo Lake, high-throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR (qPCR) were separately employed to investigate the bacterial community composition dynamics and abundance variation of the sediment sample with the highest iron-reducing capacity during incubation. The mineralization products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and variable-temperature magnetism analyses. The results showed that the highest iron reduction rate was 98·06%. Seven phyla were identified as dominant bacterial phyla during the incubation process. Iron-reducing bacteria (FeRB) including Geobacter, Desulfosporosinus and Clostridium were involved in the iron mineralization process. The 16S rDNA copy numbers of sediment decreased quickly and then stayed steady during the incubation. Bacteria with rod-shaped and spheroid species were involved in extracellular iron reduction to produce magnetic particles with massive aggregation and columnar structures on the mineral surface morphologies. The materials produced by the microbial community over the incubation period were sequentially identified as siderite, magnetite and maghemite. The magnetism of the mineral samples gradually increased from 0·31748 to 33·58423 emu g-1 with increased incubation time. The final products showed relatively stable magnetism under 0-400 K. Meanwhile, the saturation magnetization (MS ) of the mineralized substance was tightly associated with bacterial diversity (P < 0·05). CONCLUSIONS Bacterial community varied during incubation of iron-reducing sediment of volcanic lake. Various iron mineral crystals were in turn formed extracellularly by FeRB. The magnetism of mineralized products was tightly associated with bacterial community. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY These results not only help us to better understand the iron mineralization of FeRB in the volcanic lake sediments but also provide basic information for the future application of FeRB in environmental bioremediation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the association between frailty status and risk of fall among middle-aged and older Chinese people. DESIGN A nationally representative prospective cohort study. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS The study included 13,877 community-dwelling participants aged 45 years and above from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. METHODS Frailty status was identified by the frailty index of health deficit accumulation. 34 variables at baseline were selected to calculate the frailty index. We excluded participants with incomplete information in construction of the frailty index at baseline. Falls were measured based on the respondents' self-report. We used a logistic regression model to estimate the associations between the frailty status and risk of fall, and subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses were further conducted. RESULTS Of 13,877 participants, 2310 (16.6%) had falls during the observation period. 9027 (65.0%) participants were classified as robust, 4019 (29.0%) participants were classified as pre-frail, and 831 (6.0%) participants were classified as frail. Our results indicated per 0.01 increment in the frailty index was significantly associated with an increased risk of fall among middle-aged and older participants (OR: 1.52, 95%CI: 1.45-1.60). Such association was stronger when frailty was presented as a categorical variable, with an OR of 1.75 (95%CI: 1.59-1.93) for pre-frail and 3.04 (95%CI: 2.60-3.56) for frail. The area under the curve of the logistic model was 0.612 (95%CI: 0.600-0.625). Each 0.01 increment of the frailty index was association with a higher risk of fall among middle-aged (45-59years) participants (OR: 1.44, 95%CI: 1.29-1.60) than among older (≥60 years) participants (OR: 1.28, 95%CI: 1.16-1.41) at baseline (p=0.015 for interaction). CONCLUSION Frailty was significantly associated with an increased risk of fall among community-dwelling middle-aged and older people in China. It is necessary to screen and recognize frailty status to prevent falls among middle-aged and older adults.

Abstract
The performance of lanthanum carbonate (LC) pertaining to the adsorption of phosphate (HwPO4w-3) was investigated, and the possible adsorption mechanism was elucidated. The stabilization of HwPO4w-3 adsorbed to LC was evaluated. The influence of LC addition on the upward transport of phosphorus (P) from sediment to overlying water (OL-W) was studied, and the adsorption performance of HwPO4w-3 on the LC-amended sediment was explored. The results of this work indicated that LC performed well in the elimination of HwPO4w-3 from water in the pH range of 4 to 11, and the commercial and self-prepared LC samples afforded the maximum HwPO4w-3 adsorption capacities of 57.9 and 99.4 mg P/g, respectively, at pH 7. The presence of coexisting species including chloride, bicarbonate, and sulfate had a small influence on the HwPO4w-3 adsorption onto LC. The main HwPO4w-3 adsorption mechanism of LC at pH 7 was the ligand exchange reaction between carbonate and HwPO4w-3 forming the inner-sphere La-phosphate complexation. The self-synthesized LC exhibited much higher HwPO4w-3 adsorption performance than the commercial LC. The overwhelming majority (> 97.0%) of HwPO4w-3 adsorbed to LC primarily existed in the form of muriatic acid-extractable P, which has relatively low re-releasing risk. The addition of LC into sediment could significantly prevent the release of P from the sediment solid into the OL-W, thereby leading to a lower concentration level of reactive soluble P (RSP) in the OL-W compared with no LC treatment. The addition of LC into sediment could greatly improve the HwPO4w-3 uptake ability for the sediment, and the enhancement of HwPO4w-3 adsorption onto the sediment by the added LC increased as the increase of the amendment dosage and the initial HwPO4w-3 concentration. All results suggest that LC could serve as a promising amendment material for the control of sedimentary P release.

Abstract
Objective: To describe the COVID-19 epidemic and its characteristics in Heilongjiang province, and provide evidence for the further prevention and control of COVID-19 in the province. Methods: The information of COVID-19 cases and clusters were collected from national notifiable disease report system and management information system for reporting public health emergencies of China CDC. The Software's of Excel 2010 and SPSS 23.0 were applied for data cleaning and statistical analysis on the population, time and area distributions of COVID-19 cases. Results: On January 22, 2020, the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported in Heilongjiang. By March 11, 2020, a total of 482 cases domestic case of COVID-19, The incidence rate was 1.28/100 000, the mortality rate was 2.70% (13/482) in 13 municipalities in Heilongjiang. There were 81 clusters of COVID-19, The number of confirmed cases accounted for 79.25% (382/482) of the total confirmed cases and 12 cases of deaths. The family clusters accounted for 86.42% (70/81). Compared with the sporadic cases, the mortality rate, proportion of elderly cases aged 60 or above and severe or critical cases of clinical classification were all higher in the clusters especially the family clusters, but the differences were not significant (P>0.05). There were 34 clusters involving more than 5 confirmed cases accounted for 41.98% (34/81) of the total clusters, the involved cases accounted for 68.31% (261/382) of the total cases of clusters. There were significant differences in age distribution of the cases among the case clusters with different case numbers. In the clusters involving 6-9 cases, the proportion of cases aged 65 years or above was more (26.53%, 39/147). Conclusions: The incidence rate of COVID-19 was relatively high and the early epidemic was serious in Heilongjiang, The number of cases was large in clusters especially family clusters.

Abstract
Management of posterior tibial plateau fractures has gained much interest over the past few years. Fracture morphology, trauma mechanism, and soft-tissue injury have been identified as the key factors determining the treatment strategy and outcome. We provide a rationale for the operative management of posterior tibial plateau fractures by discussing the interplay between fracture morphology, trauma mechanism, and soft-tissue injury. The trauma mechanism has proven to be an important tool, not only to understand fracture morphology, but also to assess concomitant soft-tissue (i.e. ligamentous) injury. Subsequently, soft-tissue injury might play a role in future classification and diagnostic work-up of tibial plateau fractures, particularly in fractures with posterior involvement. Plate osteosynthesis using a posterior approach is safe and should be considered routinely in coronal fractures of the posterior tibial plateau, as illustrated.

Abstract
A magnesium/iron-based layered double hydroxide (MF-LDH) and a composite of MF-LDH and magnetite (MF-LDH@Fe3O4) were synthesized, characterized and used as solid-phase phosphorus (P)-sorbents (SPPSs) to control the release of sedimentary P. The behavior and mechanism of phosphate adsorption onto MF-LDH and MF-LDH@Fe3O4 were studied. The effect of MF-LDH capping and amendment on the migration of P in sediments were comparatively investigated, and the impact of fabric-wrapped and unwrapped MF-LDH@Fe3O4 capping on P mobilization in sediments were also comparatively investigated. Results showed that both MF-LDH and MF-LDH@Fe3O4 had good phosphate adsorption performance, and the adsorption mechanisms included cation exchange, electrostatic attraction, ligand exchange and inner-sphere complex formation. Sediment capping and amendment using MF-LDH both could dramatically reduce the risk of the release of soluble reactive P (SRP) and diffusive gradient in thin-films-labile P (P-DGT) from sediments into overlying waters (OLY-Ws), and the MF-LDH capping had a better suppressing efficiency of sediment-P release into OLY-W than the MF-LDH amendment. Sediment capping with the fabric-wrapped and unwrapped MF-LDH@Fe3O4 both greatly decreased the risk of SRP and P-DGT released from sediment into OLY-W, and the efficiency of the prevention of SRP released from sediment into OLY-W by the fabric-wrapped MF-LDH@Fe3O4 capping layer (about 81-90%) was slightly lower than that by the unwrapped MF-LDH@Fe3O4 capping layer (about 94-99%). The reduction of P-DGT in the top sediment and the direct interception of the soluble P from pore water (POR-W) to OLY-W by the MF-LDH@Fe3O4 capping layer were the keys to the management of P released from sediment by the MF-LDH@Fe3O4 capping. From the standpoint of the efficiency of sedimentary P suppression, the convenience of application and the sustainability of sediment remediation, sediment capping with the fabric-wrapped MF-LDH@Fe3O4 is a promising approach to manage the release of sedimentary P into OLY-W.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application value of molecular detection in the differential diagnosis of ovarian adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCT) by analyzing FOXL2, AKT1 and DICER1 mutations in these tumors. Methods: A total of 48 cases of ovarian sex cord-stromal tumor (SCST) were selected from July 2012 to June 2019 in Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, including 21 adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCT), 15 fibromas/fibrothecomas, 8 Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCT) and 4 other types of ovarian SCST. Genomic DNA was extracted from the formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Polymerase chain reaction amplification for FOXL2, AKT1 and DICER1 genes was performed, followed by sequencing using capillary electrophoresis. Fisher exact test was used to compare the prevalence difference of FOXL2, AKT1 and DICER1 mutations among the groups. P<0.05 was considered significant. Results: Eighteen of the 21 (85.7%) AGCT harbored FOXL2 mutation. Compared with other SCST (13.0%, 3 of 23; including fibromas/fibrothecomas and SLCT), FOXL2 mutation was significantly higher in AGCT (P<0.001). In addition, FOXL2 mutation was also detected in one fibrothecoma, two SLCT and two gynandroblastomas. DICER1 mutation was identified in four of eight SLCT, and these cases were moderately to poorly differentiated. FOXL2 mutation was found in one SLCT with DICER1 mutation. There was no DICER1 mutation in other ovarian SCST. No AKT1 mutation was detected in all the patients. Conclusions: FOXL2 mutation is a highly specific biomarker for adult AGCT and may be helpful to resolve problematic cases. Diagnosis should also be taken into consideration of the clinical and histological features as FOXL2 mutation is also found in other SCST. The detection of DICER1 mutation is helpful for the differential diagnosis of ovarian SLCT. Synchronous DICER1 and FOXL2 mutation in the SLCT has been observed, and its significance needs to be further studied.

Abstract
The non-magnetic capping materials are difficult to be recycled from the water bodies after their application, leading to the increase in the cost of the sediment remediation. To address this issue, a capping material, i.e., magnetic lanthanum/iron-modified bentonite (M-LaFeBT) was prepared by loading lanthanum onto a magnetic iron-modified bentonite (M-FeBT) and used to control the internal phosphorus (P) loading in this study. To determine the capping efficiency and mechanism of M-LaFeBT, the impact of M-LaFeBT and M-FeBT capping on the mobilization of P in sediments was investigated, and the stabilization of P bound by the M-LaFeBT and M-FeBT capping layers was evaluated. Results showed that M-LaFeBT possessed good magnetic property with a saturated magnetization of 14.9 emu/g, and exhibited good phosphate adsorption ability with a maximum monolayer sorption capacity (QMAX) of 14.3 mg P/g at pH 7. Moreover, M-LaFeBT capping tremendously reduced the concentration of soluble reactive P (SR-P) in the overlying water (OL-water), and the reduction efficiencies were 94.7%-97.4%. Furthermore, M-LaFeBT capping significantly decreased the concentration of SR-P in the pore water and DGT (diffusive gradient in thin films)-labile P in the profile of OL-water and sediment. Additionally, most of P bound by the M-LaFeBT capping layer (approximately 77%) was stable under natural pH and reducing conditions. The phosphate adsorption ability for M-LaFeBT was much higher than that for M-FeBT, and the QMAX value for the former was 4.86 times higher than that for the latter. M-LaFeBT capping gave rise to a higher reduction of DGT-labile concentration in the profile of OL-water and sediment than M-FeBT capping. The P adsorbed by the M-LaFeBT capping layer was more stable than that by the M-FeBT capping layer. Results of this study demonstrate that M-LaFeBT is promising for utilization as an active capping material to intercept sedimentary P release into OL-water.

Abstract
A zirconium-modified magnetite/bentonite composite (M-ZrFeBT) was synthesized, characterized and combined with water-permeable fabric to construct novel, recyclable active capping systems for sedimentary phosphorus (P) release control. Three fabric-wrapped M-ZrFeBT capping devices with different shapes were designed, i.e., CAP-1, CAP-2 and CAP-3, and they are disc-shaped, cuboid-shaped and spindle-shaped capping devices, respectively. The behavior and mechanism for phosphate adsorption onto M-ZrFeBT was studied. The impact of CAP-1, CAP-2 and CAP-3 capping on the mobilization of P in sediments was investigated. The results showed that M-ZrFeBT possessed good phosphate adsorption ability, with a largest monolayer adsorption capacity of 8.02 mg P/g. The replacement of Fe/Zr bound hydroxyl groups with phosphate through ligand-exchange reactions to generate the inner-sphere Fe-O-P and Zr-O-P bonding played a key part in the uptake of phosphate from water by M-ZrFeBT. Sediment capping with fabric-wrapped M-ZrFeBT not only brought about a significant decline in the concentrations of soluble reactive P (SRP) and DGT (diffusive gradient in thin films)-labile P (LPDGT) in the overlying water, but also gave rise to the diminished SRP and LPDGT concentrations in the upper sediment. Most (96.5%-98.2%) of P bound by the M-ZrFeBT in the capping layers was in the form of NaOH extractable inorganic P, HCl-extractable P and residual P, which were considered to be hard to be released back into the water column under common pH and oxygen-deficient conditions. The reduction of pore water SRP and LPDGT in the upper sediment layer induced by the adsorption of SRP on the M-ZrFeBT-based capping layer played a key part in the interception of SRP liberation from the sediment solid into the overlying water. Results indicate that fabric-wrapped M-ZrFeBT capping is promising for controlling the internal P loading from sediments in shallow freshwater bodies.

Abstract
Ca(NO3)2 addition has proved to have a high potential to immobilize internal phosphorus (P) in sediments; however, it cannot effectively stop the release of ammonium-nitrogen (NH4+-N) from sediments into overlying waters (OL-waters). Additionally, the addition of Ca(NO3)2 alone has high risk of nitrate-nitrogen (NO3--N) releasing into OL-waters. To overcome the shortcoming of the Ca(NO3)2 addition method, we reported an integrated method, i.e., a combined method based on Ca(NO3)2 injection, zeolite capping, and anion exchange resin (AERN)-contained floating system suspending (Ca(NO3)2/zeolite/AERN). The effectiveness and mechanism of the Ca(NO3)2/zeolite/AERN method for simultaneously controlling the release of soluble reactive P (SRP) and NH4+-N were investigated, and the NO3--N releasing risk of this method was evaluated. It was found that the joint use of Ca(NO3)2 injection, zeolite capping, and AERN-contained floating system suspending not only could effectively suppress the release of SRP and NH4+-N from sediments into OL-waters simultaneously, but also had much less risk of NO3--N releasing into OL-waters as compared to the single Ca(NO3)2 injection method and the combined Ca(NO3)2/zeolite method. The inhibition of the reductive dissolution of the P-bound Fe(III) oxides/hydroxides by the presence of nitrate and the adsorption of ammonium on the zeolite played very important roles in the interception of SRP and NH4+-N releasing into OL-waters by the Ca(NO3)2/zeolite/AERN method. After the sediment remediation using the Ca(NO3)2/zeolite/AERN approach, the increase in the content of residual P in the sediment layer of 0-50 mm, the decrease of mobile P in the sediment layer of 0-10 mm, and the increased NH4+-N adsorption capacity for the sediment layer of 0-10 mm would be conductive to the interception of SRP and NH4+-N liberation in the long run. Results of this research suggest a promising application potential of the Ca(NO3)2/zeolite/AERN method in the simultaneous control of the release of SRP and NH4+-N from sediments.

Abstract
The heat shock protein 70 (HSPA) family and their genes have been studied in ticks and are considered as possible antigen candidates for the development of anti-tick vaccines. However, knowledge about their members, structure and function in ticks is incomplete. Based on our transcriptomic data, the full length of four HSPA genes in Haemaphysalis flava (Acari: Ixodidae) was cloned via rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The open reading frame of HSPA2A, HSPA2B, HSPA5 and HSPA9 was 1920, 1911, 1983 and 2088 bp in length, respectively. Three family signatures and one localization motif were in the encoding proteins. HSPA2A and HSPA2B were predicted to be located at cytoplasm/nucleus, whereas HSPA5 and HSPA9 were at endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria, respectively. In silico simulation demonstrated that those proteins had distinct numbers of α-helixes, extended strands and coils, and different antigenic epitopes. Expression of HSPA5 and HSPA9 in the salivary gland was significantly higher in partially-engorged female adult ticks than the fully-engorged (P < 0.01) as shown by a quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Our data indicated that H. flava ticks had at least four HSPA genes encoding proteins with different cellular locations, structures and expression profiles, suggesting their diverse roles in tick biology.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Recent studies from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative show that, in the USA, 75% of patients with Alzheimer's disease are female. To date, there have rarely been any attempts to analyze data by sex or gender, which limits the potential for discovering the effects of sex or gender on disease. Little evidence is available regarding the effect of gender and apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 on white matter (WM) connection from the functional perspective due to the lack of appropriate techniques for detecting blood-oxygen-level-dependent signals in WM. METHODS We took advantage of a new framework known as functional tensor imaging to investigate the effect of sex and APOEε4 on WM cortical functional connectivity throughout the brain. RESULTS In a group of female patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment, we found a significantly reduced functional connectivity in the left posterior limb of the internal capsule, left superior fronto-occipital fasciculus, bilateral temporopolar area and right somatosensory association cortex in APOEε4 carriers in contrast to non-carriers. We also found a significant APOEε4 by sex interaction effect on the right somatosensory association cortex, left temporopolar area and left superior temporal gyrus. The clinical Montreal Cognitive Assessment score was significantly negatively associated with the right somatosensory association cortex with APOEε4 by sex interaction in males. CONCLUSIONS These results indicate that increased APOE-related risk in women may be associated with decreased activity in both gray matter and WM in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment compared with men. The finding suggests accounting for sex differences in neuroimaging biomarkers, diagnostics and treatment strategy.

Abstract
In this study, the influence of zirconium-modified bentonite (ZMBT) addition, capping, and addition/capping on the transport and transformation of phosphorus (P) in sediments were comparatively investigated using incubation experiments to determine the effect of ZMBT application mode on the controlling efficiency. Results showed that the release of soluble reactive P (SRP) from sediment to the overlying water was effectively intercepted by all the ZMBT treatments. The inactivation of pore-water SRP, diffusive gradients in thin films-labile P (DGT-LP) and mobile P (Mob-IP) in sediment played a pivotal role in the regulation of SRP liberation from the sediment to the overlying water by ZMBT. An application mode change from capping and addition/capping to addition resulted in a decline of the reduction efficiency of overlying water SRP by the ZMBT treatment to some extent. The variation in the reduction efficiency of pore-water SRP and DGT-LP in the uppermost sediment were responsible for the change of the reduction efficiency of overlying water SRP by the ZMBT treatment. A change in application mode from capping to addition/capping and addition caused an obvious increase in the immobilization efficiency of pore-water SRP, DGT-LP and Mob-IP in the lower sediment by the ZMBT treatment. Results of this work indicate that, when the ZMBT capping layer on the top of sediment was completely mixed with the sediment, although the stability of P in the lower sediment obviously increases, the controlling efficiency of SRP liberating from the sediment to the overlying water decreases to some extent. Thus, the repeated addition of ZMBT to form a covering layer on the ZMBT-amended sediment is very necessary for the effective control of sediment-P release to the overlying water.

Abstract
Removal of phosphorus (P) from municipal wastewater is of vital importance to the control of eutrophication in receiving freshwater bodies. Typical cations such as Ca2+ and Mg2+ generally exist in municipal wastewater, and they may affect the sorption behavior and mechanism of iron oxide-based materials for aqueous phosphate (HxPO4x - 3, x = 0, 1, 2, or 3 depending on solution pH). To better apply iron oxide-containing materials as adsorbents to eliminate HxPO4x - 3 in municipal wastewater, a hydrous ferric oxide (HFEO) was prepared and characterized at first and then the impact of coexisting Ca2+ and Mg2+ on the uptake of HxPO4x - 3 by HFEO was studied. The results showed that, without coexisting Ca2+ and Mg2+, the kinetic data for HxPO4x - 3 sorption onto HFEO were better described by the Elovich model (R2 = 0.953) than the pseudo-second-order (R2 = 0.838) and pseudo-first-order (R2 = 0.641) models, and the isotherm data were fitted better with the Dubinin-Radushkevich (R2 = 0.966) and Freundlich (R2 = 0.953) models than with the Langmuir (R2 = 0.924) model. The ligand exchange of the Fe-bound hydroxyl group with HxPO4x - 3 and the generation of Fe-O-P bonding played a key role in the uptake of HxPO4x - 3 by HFEO in the absence of Ca2+ and Mg2+. Coexisting Ca2+ and Mg2+ greatly improved the adsorptive removal of HxPO4x - 3 by HFEO, including the adsorption capacity and initial adsorption rate. According to the Langmuir isotherm equation, the predicted maximum HxPO4x - 3 adsorption capacity for HFEO at pH 7 in the presence of 2 mmol/L Ca2+ (24.7 mg P/g) or 2 mmol/L Mg2+ (18.4 mg P/g) was much larger than that without coexisting Ca2+ and Mg2+ (10.7 mg P/g). The formation of aqueous CaHPO40 and MgHPO40 species firstly and then the adsorption of the formed CaHPO40 and MgHPO40 species on the HFEO surface to generate the HPO42--bridged ternary complexes (i.e., Fe(OPO3H)Ca+ and Fe(OPO3H)Mg+) had an important role in the improvement of HxPO4x - 3 adsorption onto HFEO by coexisting Ca2+ and Mg2+.

Abstract
In this work, a zirconium/magnesium-modified bentonite (ZrMgBT) was prepared and characterized by SEM, EDS, XRD and pHPZC. The performance and mechanism of phosphate adsorption onto ZrMgBT was evaluated in detail using batch experiments and 31P NMR. Results showed the adsorption isotherm data were well described by the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich models, and the kinetic data fitted better to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model than the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The phosphate adsorption capacity of ZrMgBT was slightly affected by the presence of Na+, K+, Cl-, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], but it was enhanced by coexisting Mg2+ and [Formula: see text]. The mechanism for phosphate adsorption onto ZrMgBT at pH 7 was mainly the complexation reaction between phosphate and zirconium. In addition, ZrMgBT exhibited more excellent adherence to phosphate than zirconium-modified bentonite (ZrBT). Especially, the maximum monolayer phosphate adsorption capacity for ZrMgBT at pH 7 and 0.5 g/L of adsorbent dosage calculated based on the Langmuir isotherm model (13.0 mg P/g) was 67.5% higher than that for ZrBT. The higher phosphate adsorption capacity for ZrMgBT than ZrBT could be attributed to the higher specific surface area as well as higher Mg2+ releasing ability of the former. The enhancement of phosphate adsorption by the release of Mg2+ from ZrMgBT could be mainly due to the formation of [Formula: see text] in the solution firstly and then the adsorption of [Formula: see text] on ZrMgBT forming ≡Zr(OPO3H)Mg on the ZrMgBT surface. In general, we conclude that ZrMgBT is a more promising adsorbent for phosphate removal from aqueous solution than ZrBT.

Abstract
Calcite/zeolite mixture (CZ) can be used to construct a capping layer for the simultaneous management of phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) liberation from sediments into the overlying water (OVER-water). However, its control efficiency of sedimentary P release still needs to be improved. To address this issue, an iron-modified CZ (Fe-CZ) was synthesized, characterized, and employed as a capping material to simultaneously prevent P and N release from sediments into OVER-water. Batch and microcosm incubation experiments were performed to study the efficiency and mechanism for the control of P and N release from sediments by capping Fe-CZ. Results showed that sediment capping with Fe-CZ resulted in the significant reduction of soluble reactive P (SRP) and ammonium-N (NH3-N) in OVER-water, with reduction rates of 77.8-99.7% and 54.0-96.7%, respectively. Furthermore, the Fe-CZ capping layer decreased the SRP concentration in the pore water (PORE-water) at depth of 0-30 mm and reduced the concentration of PORE-water NH3-N at depth of 0-50 mm. Moreover, the Fe-CZ capping layer gave rise to the great decrement of the concentration of the labile P measured by DGT (diffusive gradient in thin films) technology (P-DGT) in the profile of OVER-water and sediment. Additionally, the Fe-CZ capping resulted in the reduction of redox-sensitive P (P-BD) in the 0-50 mm sediment and caused the transformation of P-BD to calcium-bound P (P-HCl) and residual P (P-RES) in the 0-10 mm sediment as well as to P-RES in the 10-20 mm sediment. Results of this work indicate that the Fe-CZ capping has a high potential for the simultaneous management of P and N release from sediments, and the decrease of the contents of sediment P-DGT, sediment P-BD, PORE-water SRP and PORE-water NH3-N as well as the conversion of mobile P to more stable P in the top sediment should have a significant role in the simultaneous interception of sedimentary P and N liberation into OVER-water by the Fe-CZ capping.
