Abstract
According to the Fresnel theory, the reflectivity intensity of spherical and cylindrical convex surfaces decreases from their edge to center, and it is noteworthy and interesting for optical gain to study the enhancement of center reflectance. In this paper, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) - encapsulated cylindrical non-closed-packed photonic crystals (NPCs) composite with Bragg-enhanced Fresnel reflectance was designed for spectral selectivity and optical gain. Theoretically and experimentally, the periodically ordered structure of NPCs achieved high-reflection of light in photonic bandgap and high-transmission in other bands, which enhanced Fresnel reflectivity of the convex center to specific bands. Furtherly, the cylindrical NPCs hydrogel with stretchability was applied for the dynamic tuning of optical signals. The reflection peak of the PDMS-encapsulated cylindrical NPCs composite blue-shifted from 608 nm to 413 nm with 50 % tensile strain and achieved a rapid transition of structural color from orange to blue-violet in 60 cycles. The new kind of photonic crystals composite for optical gain and spectral selection broke through the limitations of traditional Fresnel curved mirrors with the lowest central reflectivity and inability to perform spectral selectivity, and have great significance and application prospects in fields of signal transmission, optical measurement, and instrument design.

Abstract
Background Patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) often exhibit susceptibilities to multiple autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren's syndrome, primary sclerosing cholangitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. This propensity likely stems from common pathogenic mechanisms underlying immune-mediated conditions. This report highlights the occurrence of autoimmune thyroid disease during UC exacerbations. Notably, the patient displayed petrified auricles.Case Summary.A 57-year-old male complained of sustained abdominal pain, diarrhea, hematochezia, and mucus for a duration of 20 days. The diagnosis of UC was confirmed via colonoscopy, histopathological examination, and small bowel MRE. Clinical evaluations revealed bilateral ectopic ossification in his ears, which appeared to develop over an unspecified timeframe. Imaging and histological evaluations substantiated the ectopic ossification diagnosis while eliminating the possibility of adrenal insufficiency. The presented case offers a unique instance of bilateral auricular ossification, which is hypothesized to result from hyperthyroidism. Conclusion Our case report underscores the necessity of enhancing awareness of the rare complications associated with UC. Medical practitioners should recognize the potential overlap of autoimmune thyroid disorders in UC patients. It is imperative to test for thyroid-related antibodies in such individuals, irrespective of overt thyroid dysfunction.

Abstract
Hereunder, we pioneered the synthesis of Copper Oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) utilizing Tragacanth gum (TG). The NPs were characterized using advanced techniques and assessed for different pharmaceutical and environmental perspectives. The successful formation of a colloidal NPs solution was confirmed by the appearance of a distinct black color and a distinct peak at 260 nm in UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The FTIR analysis unveiled a spectrum of functional groups responsible for the reduction and stabilization of CuO NPs. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) revealed size of NPs as 36.24 nm and 28 ± 04 nm respectively. Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) Analysis indicated weight percentages of 70.38 % for Cu and 18.88 % for O, with corresponding atomic percentages. The X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed the orthorhombic crystal structure of the prepared CuO NPs. Antimicrobial assessments through disc-diffusion assays demonstrated significant zones of inhibition (ZOI) against gram-positive bacterial strains (Bacillus Halodurans and Micrococcus leutus) and a gram-negative bacterial strain (E. coli). Against the fungal strain Aspergillus niger, a ZOI of 18.5 ± 0.31 mm was observed. The NPs exhibited remarkable antioxidant potential determined through 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and H2O2 scavenging assays. At a concentration of 3 mg/mL, the NPs demonstrated biofilm inhibition rates of 96 %, 90 %, 89.60 %, and 72.10 % against Micrococcus luteus, Bacillus halodurans, MRSA and E.coli respectively. Furthermore, the CuO NPs showed a high photocatalytic potential towards the degradation of safranin dye under sunlight irradiation. In conclusion, the findings underline the promising multifunctional properties of TG-based CuO NPs for different practical applications.

Abstract
Real-time sensing and monitoring of temperature are of great significance for assessing human health. The sensitivity and stability are inevitable issues for thermometers. In this study, a thermometer with the cylindrical thermochromic hydrogel was prepared for real-time visual monitoring of temperature, which had excellent temperature sensitivity, angle-independence axially, and environmental stability. The customization of their initial optical properties depended on the PMMA concentrations and the content of the hydrogel monomer. The glycerol introduced with solvent displacement formed hydrogen bonds with the hydrogel network, which stabilized their mechanical properties, and the reflection peak blue-shifted from 653 to 499 nm when tensile strain was 57.85%. At the same time, the environmental stability originated from the moisturizing properties of the glycerol, which enabled the hydrogel to reliably transmit the information on temperature into the air without losing moisture. The reflection peak of the cylindrical thermochromic hydrogel shifted from 657 to 455 nm when the temperature increased from 22 to 45 °C, which realized temperature visual monitoring in the full-color range. The temperature sensitivity of the glycerol─nonclose-packed photonic crystals remained stable for 1 month, which provided an optimal option for continuous visual temperature monitoring.

Abstract
In vitro culture of organoids holds considerable promise for the treatment of diseases or the provision of artificial organs. Traditional 2D differentiation from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) faces challenges in replicating the development of embryonic organs at the cellular level; conversely, the cultivation of 3D organoids exhibits potential for application. It is crucial for clinicians and technology researchers to acquire insights into organoid tissue differentiation, autonomous morphogenesis, as well as 3D assembly processes in vitro. In this investigation, novel 3D organoids capable of engendering complex liver-like tissues in vitro were cultured, and a class of high-luminance semiconductor polymer dots (Pdots) was employed to monitor the self-assembly process of 3D liver organoid tissues and cellular interaction and migration dynamics. Three-dimensional liver-bud (3D-LB) organoid tissues were derived through the interplay of induced MSCs, Wharton's Jelly, and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and their structural characteristics were determined during the liver-bud organoid development; ultimately, the co-cultured organoid spatial cellular clusters resembling a truffle were successfully replicated. Utilizing R8-Pdots with remarkable resolution and biocompatibility, the structural elements of functional and vascularized organs derived from liver organoid tissues were adeptly reconstituted, and this investigation shall contribute to a further understanding of human hepato-developmental physiology and liver-disease modeling.

Abstract
Nowadays, the sensing of hazardous gases is urgent for the consideration of public safety and human health, especially in extreme conditions of low temperatures. In this study, a photonic crystals (PhCs) sensor with water retention and antifreezing properties was developed and applied to visual hazardous gases sensing at low temperature, passively. The sensor was prepared by dip-coating with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) colloidal microspheres followed by embedding in k-carrageenan/polyacrylamide-ethylene glycol (k-CA/PAM-EG) hydrogel. The sensor responded to hazardous gases, including ammonia, toluene, xylene, acetone, methanol, ethanol, and 1-propanol, with a change in the reflection wavelength and visible structural color. At room temperature, the reflection wavelength of the sensor blue-shifted 49 nm in ammonia, and the structural color changed from red to yellow. For low temperatures, the sensor showed great water retention and antifreezing properties even at -57 °C due to the double network. The sensor still had a great response to hazardous gases after freezing at -20 °C for 12 h and testing at 0 °C, and the obtained results were similar to those at room temperature. Based on this excellent stability and visual sensing at low temperature, the sensor demonstrates the potential for detection of hazardous vapors in extreme environments.

Ferulic acid attenuated difenoconazole-induced immunotoxicity in carp by inhibiting TRAF/TAK1/NF-κB, Nrf2 and p53 pathways. ECOTOXICOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY 2023; 262:115339. Abstract
Difenoconazole (DFZ) is a classical triazole fungicide that causes immunosuppression in non-target organisms. Ferulic acid (FA) is a polyphenolic molecule found in nature that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The purpose of this investigation was to see if FA could prevent DFZ-induced immunosuppression and to identify the potential mechanisms. Carp were exposed to 1/10 LC50 of DFZ as well as fed normal feed or feed containing dietary additive FA for 30 d. It was found that DFZ-induced immunosuppression could be improved by FA, as evidenced by upregulation of Hb, C3 and IgM and downregulation of LDH. It was then investigated that FA could ameliorate DFZ-induced splenic injury through p53-mediated apoptosis. At the same time, enhancing the levels of CAT, GSH and T-AOC in spleen and transcription levels Nrf2 signaling pathway related genes indicated that FA reduced oxidative damage caused by DFZ by blocking the Nrf2 signaling pathway. In addition, FA inhibited the inflammatory response triggered by TRAF/TAK1/NF-κB signaling pathway, downregulated the transcript levels of pro-inflammatory factors (il-1β, tnf-α, il-6) and the level of NLRP3 inflammasome (NRLP3, ASC, Caspase 1), and upregulated the transcript levels of anti-inflammatory factors (tgf-β1, il-10). In conclusion, the above results suggested that FA mediated TRAF/TAK1/NF-κB, Nrf2, and p53 pathways to attenuate DFZ-induced inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis thereby enhancing the immune capacity of carp.

Abstract
The therapeutic efficacy of whole tumor cell vaccines (TCVs) is modest, which has delayed their translation into personalized immunotherapies in the clinic. Here, we develop a TCV platform based on photothermal nanoparticle-loaded tumor cells, which can be rationally applied to diverse tumor types to achieve on-demand boost of anti-tumor immune responses for inhibiting tumor growth. During the fabrication process, mild photothermal heating by near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation induces the nanoparticle-bearing tumor cells to express heat shock proteins as endogenous adjuvants. After a single vaccination at the back of tumor-bearing mice, non-invasive NIR laser irradiation further induces mild hyperthermia at vaccination site, which promotes the recruitment, activation, and antigen presentation by dendritic cells. Using an indicator we term fluctuation of tumor growth rate, we determine appropriate irradiation regimens (including optimized irradiation intervals and times). This TCV platform enables on-demand NIR manipulation of immune responses, and we demonstrate potent therapeutic efficacy against six murine models that mimick a range of clinical scenarios, including a model based on humanized mice and patient-derived tumor xenografts.

Abstract
Introduction Currently, hyperuricemia has shown a surprisingly rising trend, which attracts widespread attention due to potentially major health risks. Considering the inevitable side effects of long-term medicine, probiotics are emerging as potential therapeutics due to their ability to improve uric acid metabolism and superior safety. Methods In our study, two strains of probiotics, Lactobacillus gasseri LG08 (LG08) and Leuconostoc mesenteroides LM58 (LM58) isolated from kimchi were evaluated for the prebiotic properties in vitro and uric-lowering effects in vivo. Here, hyperuricemia animal model and 16S rRNA gene amplicons analysis were further studied to investigate whether these probiotics exert different effects in prevention and treatment. Results In vivo indicators and intestinal flora immunity revealed that both LG08 and LM58 significantly prevent the development and progression of hyperuricemia, repair the antioxidant system and maintain intestinal flora balance in healthy rats, especially LM58. After hyperuricemia was formed, although the effect of LG08 and LM58 could decrease the level of uric acid, the effect to reverse and repair antioxidant levels in the body was limited. Discussion In our study, these findings have important implications for hyperuricemia prevention and therapy, and provided more mechanistic insights into the effect of probiotics in hyperuricemia.

Abstract
We present a microplate assay for the detection of HIV and SARS-CoV-2 which involves the preadsorption of carboxy-modified polystyrene microspheres to the microplate wells and their self-assembly leading to the formation of a photonic crystal colloidal array (PCCA). PCCA is then cross-linked with amino-modified aptamers selected for viral cell surface glycoproteins, i.e., S1-protein of SARS-CoV-2 and gp120 of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), to develop an aptamer-linked photonic crystal assay (ALPA). ALPA is then utilized as a proof-of-concept method for the detection of S1-protein, gp120, and two whole viruses, i.e., SARS-CoV-2 and HIV, as well. The aptamers are stable at room temperature and can bind with the viruses' proteins via hydrogen bonding. This binding leads to color generation from PCCA, and the signal can easily be measured and quantified by a UV/vis spectrometer. The assay carries the advantage of a two-step detection process by the addition of the virus sample directly to a 96-well microplate and incubation of 5 min followed by convenient detection through a UV/vis-spectrometer. The assay does not require any additional reagents and can be customized for similar viruses utilizing specific aptamers targeting their cell surface receptors.

Abstract
Chiral plasmonic nanostructures have promising applications in optoelectronics due to their chiroptical responses. However, achieving active tuning of optical chirality remains challenging. Here, we develop stretchable chiroptical films with mechanically tunable extrinsic chirality by assembling hexagonal magnetic/plasmonic hybrid nanodisks in magnetic fields. The nanodisks, synthesized using a space-confined growth method, display three distinct plasmonic resonance modes at the UV-vis-NIR region, which red shift with increasing size as demonstrated by simulation and experimental results. The coupled magnetic and plasmonic anisotropy allows convenient control over the plasmonic resonance modes by altering the strength or direction of external magnetic fields. Further, magnetically aligning the nanodisks in a stretchable polymer film produces superstructures with extrinsic chirality, displaying selective absorption of circularly polarized light and inverted circular dichroism due to the linear dichroism-linear birefringence effect. Reversible mechanical stretching allows for continuous switching of circular dichroism in a wide range (from -1° to +1°). The efficient magnetic alignment of hybrid nanodisks in the hydrogel provides a simple and effective strategy for designing stretchable optical devices with tunable extrinsic chirality.

Abstract
Herein, we coalesced a poly(acrylamide-co-N-Acryloyl phenylalanine)/polyacrylamide double-network (P(AM-co-APA)/PAM DN) hydrogel with a photonic crystal array, fabricating a mechanochromic sensor for application in flexible medical instruments by naked eye monitoring. The intensified mechanical properties of the DN hydrogel were proved by the mechanical property tests, which are attributed to the interactions of chemical bonds and hydrogen bonds between the two polymer networks. In the range of stress from 0 to 328 kPa, the reflected light wavelength of this sensor changed from 659 to 480 nm and the color changed from red to blue in response; in the range of pressure from 0 to 85 kPa, the sensor exhibited a spectrum changing from 658 nm to 467 nm, covering almost the whole visible color range. The prepared sensor was incorporated into medical instruments including the femoral artery hemostat and bandage to indicate pressure and tensile stress in practical applications. Within the appropriate pressure for wound recovery, the sensitivity and correlation between the external stimulus of pressure and wavelength of this integrated sensor were 5.58 nm·kPa-1 and over 0.99, respectively. Ultimately, the sensor proved to be tough, sensitive, and durable, showing a broad prospect of a series of future applications.

Abstract
Background Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most malignant cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. However, the study of targeted therapy research in PC is not very thorough. Therefore, targeted molecular markers are needed to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of PC. Methods In our research, we investigated the biological functions and molecular mechanism of microRNA-543 in PC. Western blotting (WB) and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were performed to analyze the transcription and protein expression of microRNA-543, Serine/threonine kinase 31 (STK31), and LINC00847 in BxPC-3 and PANC-1 cells. Subsequently, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), Transwell, colony formation, and flow cytometry (FCM) assays were utilized to evaluate cell growth, migration, invasion, and apoptosis. WB and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) were used to evaluate the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process and subcellular localization. RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), double luciferase reporter, and RNA-pull down assays were performed to determine the targeting relationship between microRNA-543 and STK31 or microRNA-543 and LINC00847. Results While microRNA-543 expression was discovered to be low in PC, LINC00847 and STK31 were overexpressed at significant levels. MicroRNA-543 knockdown dramatically increased PC cell growth, invasion, metastasis, and EMT, as well as decreased apoptosis in functional studies. Furthermore, microRNA-543 and STK31 were found to be mutual targets. LINC00847 acted as a molecular sponge for microRNA-543 and a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for STK31, thereby increasing STK-31 transcription. Conclusions Our results suggest that microRNA-543, through the LINC00847/microRNA-543/STK31 axis, plays a role in the development of PC as a tumor suppressor. As a result, microRNA-543 may prove to be an effective diagnostic and therapeutic target for PC.

Abstract
Bletilla striata is an herb with a good medicinal value whose main active ingredient is Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP) in the tuber of Bletilla striata. In this study, a polysaccharide-based semi-interpenetrating network hydrogel was constructed by introducing BSP into polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel. The introduction of the BSP chain no only maintains the excellent mechanical properties of PAM, but also endows it with good biocompatibility. By implanting the colloidal crystal array into the above hydrogels, we obtained a novel biomass-based photonic crystal with good stimulus responsiveness that is sensitive to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), especially alcohol vapor. In addition, due to the scavenging ability of BSP to hydroxyl radicals, the photonic crystal hydrogel also has a good response to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

Abstract
Photonic crystals have been widely explored for biosensing. However, the complicated procedure for the self-assembly of multi-dimensional photonic crystals has driven researchers to look for more economical protocols for preparing photonic crystals. Furthermore, in situ monitoring of glucose with photonic crystals is the main technique used for controlling diabetes. A one-dimensional (1-D) photonic crystal gel sensor was prepared with a top-down method using a commercially available CD-R or DVD-R disc as a nanomold. The 1-D photonic structure was cast on a glucose-sensitive hydrogel. It was observed that the 1-D photonic crystal cast by DVD-R has a good response ability to glucose, as well as a good linear response relationship in the range of 0.1-4 mM glucose, with an adjusted R2 of 0.99 of the linear fitting curve. The sensor also has a good response ability to the detection of glucose in urine. The limit of detection (LOD) is 0.1 mM. The 1-D photonic crystal sensor utilizing the existing optical disc microstructure as a template shows the advantages of its simple preparation, short production cycle, and low cost. It also has great application potential in the preparation of point-of-care (POC) sensors.

Abstract
A novel qNMR method was developed for the simultaneous determination of the component ratio and moisture content in triethyleneglycol dinitrate (TEGDN) and nitroglycerin (NG) composites. Using the ERETIC module technique of NMR spectrometry, moisture in the solvent and internal standard were eliminated by the integral value subtraction method, and the component ratio and moisture content in TEGDN/NG composites could be accurately calculated. Method validation was carried out in terms of the precision, stability, linearity, recovery, robustness, limit of quantification (LOQ) and limit of detection (LOD). The results of the qNMR method show good accuracy compared with the HPLC and Karl Fischer methods. Statistical Student's t-test and F-test at the 95% confidence level proved that there was no significant difference between the qNMR method and the other two methods. For TEGDN/NG composites of high-energy and high-sensitivity explosives, the low dose and high efficiency of the qNMR method could effectively avoid the danger of explosion and burning.

Abstract
The photonic crystals (PhCs) have a bright structural color, but their angular dependence and naked-eye observation subjectivity only apply for qualitative analysis. The HSB color space is a three-channel color analysis technology based on hue (H)-saturation (S)-brightness (B). We use the HSB color space to analyze the structural color of the AM/NIPAM PhCs hydrogel sensor in response to temperature and organic solvents. We proved that the structural color analysis based on the hue value (H) could achieve an analysis accuracy close to the spectrum analysis. In addition, we have obtained stimulus-responsive PhCs structure color images from references and quantitatively analyzed them through the HSB color space. The results show that the H of the structural color can establish a high correlation with the specified target. In some cases, its best fitness exceeds traditional spectroscopy methods. This analysis method will provide a general and quantitative analysis technology for the structural color of PhCs by consumer-grade computers and smartphones.

Abstract
The overexploitation of fossil fuels has led to a significant increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations, thereby causing problems, such as the greenhouse effect. Rapid global climate change has caused researchers to focus on utilizing CO2 in a green and efficient manner. One of the ways to achieve this is by converting CO2 into valuable chemicals via chemical, photochemical, electrochemical, or enzymatic methods. Among these, the enzymatic method is advantageous because of its high specificity and selectivity as well as the mild reaction conditions required. The reduction of CO2 to formate, formaldehyde, and methanol using formate dehydrogenase (FDH), formaldehyde dehydrogenase (FaldDH), and alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) are attractive routes, respectively. In this review, strategies for overcoming the common limitations of enzymatic CO2 reduction are discussed. First, we present a brief background on the importance of minimizing of CO2 emissions and introduce the three bottlenecks limiting enzymatic CO2 reduction. Thereafter, we explore the different strategies for enzyme immobilization on various support materials. To solve the problem of cofactor consumption, different state-of-the-art cofactor regeneration strategies as well as research on the development of cofactor substitutes and cofactor-free systems are extensively discussed. Moreover, aiming at improving CO2 solubility, biological, physical, and engineering measures are reviewed. Finally, conclusions and future perspectives are presented.

Abstract
The frequent emergence of variants of concern (VOC) of SARS-CoV-2 necessitates a sensitive and all-inclusive detection platform that remains viable despite the virus mutations. In this context, we targeted the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of glycoprotein (S-protein) of all VOC and constructed a consensus RBD (cRBD) based on the conserved amino acids. Then, we selected a high-affinity ssDNA novel aptamer specific for the cRBD by an in silico approach. The selected aptamer is utilized to fabricate a photonic crystal (PC)-decorated aptasensor (APC-sensor), which consists of polystyrene nanoparticles polymerized within a polyacrylamide hydrogel. cRBD-responsive ssDNA aptamers are crosslinked in the hydrogel network, which selectively bind to the cRBD and SARS-CoV-2 in saliva samples. The binding response can be visually monitored by swelling of the hydrogel and color generation by diffraction of light from PCs and can be quantified by the diffraction ring diameter or a spectrometer. The sensor delivers a LOD of 12.7 ± 0.55 ng mL-1 for the cRBD and 3 ± 18.8 cells mL-1 for SARS-CoV-2 in saliva samples, with a rapid response of 5 min. The sensor can be stored and regenerated without loss of activity. It can be utilized as a point-of-care testing (POCT) for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common degenerative disease of the central nervous system among the elderly. Istradefylline, an FDA-approved adenosine A2A receptor antagonist (anti-PD drug), has good efficacy. However, it has been reported that the double bond of istradefylline is easily converted into cis-configuration when exposed to an indoor environment or direct light in a dilute solution. In order to find more stable adenosine A2A receptor antagonists with similar pharmacological efficacy to istradefylline, the compounds series I-1 (12 compounds) was designed by maintaining the xanthine skeleton of istradefylline unchanged and replacing the trans-double bond with thiazole or benzothiazole and other biologically active heterocyclic compounds. These compounds were synthesized via multi-step experiment and successfully confirmed through different characterization techniques for their ability to inhibit cAMP formation in A2A AR overexpressing cells. The thiazole derivative of istradefylline (Compound I-1-11, I-1-12) exhibited significant activity (IC50 = 16.74 ± 4.11 μM, 10.36 ± 3.09 μM), as compared to istradefylline (IC50 = 5.05 ± 1.32 μM). In addition, the molecular docking of benzothiazole derivatives I-1-11 and thiazole derivatives I-1-12 with higher inhibition rate were carried out and compared with istradefylline. The molecular docking results showed that I-1-11 and I-1-12 anchored in the same site as that of XAC (3REY) with predicted affinity binding energy -6.63 kcal/mol and - 6.75 kcal/mol, respectively. Validation through dynamics simulation also showed stable interactions, with fluctuations <3 Å and MM/GBSA energy <-20 kcal/mol. Hence, this study could provide a basis for the rational design of adenosine A2A receptor antagonists with better potency.

Abstract
Despite the prevalence of breast cancer (BC), over half of BC cases are unrelated to known risk factors, which highlights the importance of uncovering more cancer-related factors. Currently, the microbiota has been proven to be a potent modulator of the tumor environment in BC, which regulates the immune balance in tumor-related networks. Through a large amount of data accumulation, the microbiota has shown many possibilities to reveal more insights into the development or control of BC. To expand the potential benefits of patients with BC, this study discusses the distribution profile and the effect mechanism of BC-related microbiota on tumors and further discusses its impact on different tumor therapies. Finally, we summarize the possibility of targeting microbiological therapies to improve BC treatment or in combination with other therapies.

Abstract
In this study, mono-sized anion-exchange microspheres with polyglycidylmethacrylate were engineered and processed to introduce magnetic granules by penetration-deposition approaches. The obtained magnetic microspheres showed a uniform particle diameter of 1.235 μm in average and a good spherical shape with a saturation magnetic intensity of 12.48 emu/g by VSM and 12% magnetite content by TGA. The magnetic microspheres showed no cytotoxicity when the concentration was below 10 μg/mg. The magnetic microspheres possess respective adsorption capacity for three proteins including Bovine albumin, Hemoglobin from bovine blood, and Cytochrome C. These magnetic microspheres are also potential biomaterials as targeting medicine carriers or protein separation carriers at low concentration.

Abstract
As a widespread air pollutant, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are harmful to the human body's skin, nervous system, and respiratory system. Low-cost, extensive, and continuous detection of VOCs is of great significance to human health. We infiltrated and coated cellulose acetate on the inverse opal photonic crystal skeleton of methylcellulose-polyvinyl alcohol-graphene oxide to construct a degradable, high-toughness cellulose VOC sensor. Cellulose acetate enhances the response to VOCs and achieves a highly selective response to acetone vapor due to the smaller Flory-Huggins parameter with acetone. This work proposes a general, simple, easy-to-use, and highly selective photonic crystal VOC sensor development strategy. Calculated from the Flory-Huggins solution theory, a suitable polymer was selected to modify the inverse opal photonic crystal framework and achieve high selectivity detection.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small, noncoding RNAs involved in nearly all genetic central dogma processes and human biological behavior, which also play a significant role in the pathological activity of tumors, such as gene transcription, protein translation, and exosome secretion. Therefore, through the navigation of certain specific miRNAs, we can trace the specific physiological processes or image some specific tissues. Designing and accurately positioning microRNA (miRNA)-sensitive fluorescent nanoprobes with benign specificity and recognition in cells or tissues are a challenging research field. To solve the difficulties, we introduce four semiconducting polymer dots (Pdots) as nanoprobes linked by specific miRNA antisense sequences for monitoring the pathological grading by the variation in miRNA expression. Based on the base pairing principle, these miRNA-sensitive Pdots could bind to specific miRNAs within the cancerous cells. As impacted by the background of different pathology gradings, the proportions of the four hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-specific miRNAs within the cancerous cell are different, and the pathological grading of the patient tissues can be determined by comparing the palette combinations. The short single-stranded RNA-functionalized Pdots, which have excellent microRNA sensitivity, are observed in an experimental cell model and a series of tissue specimens from HCC patients for the first time. Using the Förster (or fluorescence) resonance energy transfer (FRET) model of Pdots and Cy3dt tag to simulate in vivo miRNA detection, the superior sensitivity and specificity of these nanoprobes are verified. The interference of subjective factors in traditional single/bis-dye emission intensity detection is abandoned, and multiple label staining is used to enhance sensitivity further and reduce the false-positive rate. The feasibility exhibited by this novel staining method is verified in normal hepatocellular HCC cell lines and 16 frozen ultrathin tissue sections, which are employed to quantify pathological grading-related color presentation systems for clinical doctors and pathologists' use. The intelligently designed miRNA-guided Pdots will emerge as an ideal platform with promising biological imaging.

Abstract
Dinitropyrazole is an important structure for the design and synthesis of energetic materials. In this work, we reported the first comparative thermal studies of two representative dinitropyrazole-based energetic materials, 4-amino-3,5-dinitropyrazole (LLM-116) and its novel trimer derivative (LLM-226). Both the experimental and theoretical results proved the active aromatic N-H moiety would cause incredible variations in the physicochemical characteristics of the obtained energetic materials. Thermal behaviors and kinetic studies of the two related dinitropyrazole-based energetic structures showed that impressive thermal stabilization could be achieved after the trimerization, but also would result in a less concentrated heat-release process. Detailed analysis of condensed-phase systems and the gaseous products during the thermal decomposition processes, and simulation studies based on ReaxFF force field, indicated that the ring opening of LLM-116 was triggered by hydrogen transfer of the active aromatic N-H moiety. In contrast, the initial decomposition of LLM-226 was caused by the rupture of carbon-nitrogen bonds at the diazo moiety.

Abstract
This study investigated the role of microRNA (miRNA) miR-486-5p in oxidative stress injury in hepatocytes under the treatment of mesenchymal stem cell conditioned medium (MSC-CM). The oxidative stress injury in hepatocytes (L02) was induced by H2O2. Human umbilical cord blood MSC-CM (UCB-MSC-CM) was prepared. The effects of UCB-MSC-CM on the proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammatory response in L02 cells were detected by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, flow cytometry analysis, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Subsequently, the target of miR-486-5p was predicted using bioinformatics analysis, and the possible signaling pathway addressed by miR-486-5p was explored using western blot. We found that miR-486-5p expression was elevated following oxidative stress injury and was reduced after UCB-MSC-CM treatment. UCB-MSC-CM protected L02 cells against H2O2-induced injury by downregulation of miR-486-5p. Proviral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus 1 (PIM1) was verified to be targeted by miR-486-5p. UCB-MSC-CM upregulated the expression of PIM1 reduced by H2O2 in L02 cells. Additionally, silencing PIM1 attenuated the protective effects of miR-486-5p downregulation against oxidative stress injury. We further demonstrated that UCB-MSC-CM inhibited the TGF-β/Smad signaling in H2O2-treated L02 cells by the miR-486-5p/PIM1 axis. Overall, UCB-MSC-CM attenuates oxidative stress injury in hepatocytes by downregulating miR-486-5p and upregulating PIM1, which may be related to the inhibition of TGF-β/Smad pathway.

Abstract
The components in polymer-bonded explosive X, including cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine, paraffin, and polytetrafluoroethylene, were determined using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Using partial least squares as the multivariate calibration method, quantitative calibration models for components in X were verified internally and externally. The possible combinations of eight general spectral pretreatment methods and different bands of the scanning spectral region (12,500-4000 cm-1) were established. The models were analyzed, evaluated, and optimized via the fitting effect. The data were combined with the mathematical meaning of the model spectral pretreatment methods and the chemical significance of the modeling spectral bands. Prediction performance offered optimal quantitative calibration models. Paired bilateral Student's t tests show that there is no significant difference between the values obtained by NIR and chemical analysis methods, and the NIR method has good accuracy. Moreover, the precision of the NIR method is better than that of the chemical method, and the analysis time is reduced from 2 days to a few minutes.

Abstract
Photonic crystals (PhCs) with a brightly colored structure are novel materials and are widely used in chemical and biological sensing. Combining PhCs with molecular imprinting technology (MIT), the molecularly imprinted PhC (MIPC) sensors are fabricated, which can specifically recognize the target molecules. Aside from high sensitivity and selectivity, the MIPC sensors could recognize the naked eye detection because of its optical properties. In this review, an overview of recent advances in sensing applications of MIPC sensors including the responsive mechanisms, application in environmental monitoring, and the application to human health were illustrated. The MIPC sensors all responded to the analytes specifically and also showed high sensitivity in real samples, which provided a method to realize the rapid, convenient, naked eye, and real-time detection. Furthermore, the current limitations and potential future directions of MIPC sensors were also discussed.

Abstract
Due to its double bond, istradefylline rapidly isomerizes to Z-istradefylline when exposed to normal daylight in dilute solution. To solve the poor photostability of the istradefylline solution, a series of istradefylline derivatives (in total 17 compounds, including II-1 and II-2 series) were designed and synthesized, and their biological activity in inhibiting cAMP was evaluated. The IC50 values of compounds II-1-3, II-2-1, II-2-2, II-2-3, II-2-4, and II-2-6 were 7.71, 6.52, 6.16, 7.23, 7.96, and 9.68 μg/mL, respectively, which had the same order of activity as that of istradefylline (IC50 value was 1.94 μg/mL). The preliminary structure-activity relationship suggested that the 6-amino in adenine played an important role in binding an A2A receptor. The results of photostability experiments showed that the photostability of the target compounds of II-1 and II-2 series was improved when compared with that of istradefylline.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the value of serum protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-Ⅱ (PIVKA-Ⅱ) detection in the early diagnosis and surveillance of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: The clinical data of 215 patients with HCC admitted to Department of Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery of China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from October 2017 to May 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 172 males and 43 females, aged of (59.0±9.3) years old (range 34 to 86 years old). In addition, there were 85 non HCC patients were enrolled in the control group, 42 males and 43 females, aged (54.2±11.3) years old (range 22 to 80 years old). The blood sample of 3 ml was drawn from the elbow vein at 6∶00 am on the next day of admission, and then was kept in low temperature away from light, and sent for PIVKA-Ⅱ detection on the same day. The positive value of AFP was ≥20 μg/L and PIVKA-Ⅱ was ≥32 AU/L. The data were analyzed statistically by χ(2) test, t test or rank sum test. The correlation between AFP, PIVKA-Ⅱ and tumor maximum diameter was analyzed by linear regression. Results: The sensitivity of PIVKA-Ⅱ detection only for the diagnosis of HCC in all stages was significantly higher than AFP or equivalent to AFP, the overall sensitivity of PIVKA-Ⅱ and AFP was 85.1% and 52.1%, respectively. But the specificity of PIVKA-Ⅱ was lower than that of AFP, they were 78.8% and 96.5%, respectively. In particularly, in the earlier stage of HCC (Ⅰa) , the sensitivity of PIVAK-Ⅱ to HCC was 64.5%, while the AFP was only 26.3%. Combined detection of PIVKA-Ⅱ and AFP significantly improved the diagnostic rate of HCC to 88.4%, and the specificity to 76.5%. Moreover, there was a positive correlation between PIVKA-Ⅱ level and the maximum tumor diameter (r(2)=0.587, P<0.05), but there was no correlation between the AFP level and the maximum tumor diameter (r(2)=0.296, P>0.05). The positive rate of PIVKA-Ⅱ in the diagnosis of HCC with vascular invasion was also significantly higher than that of AFP (P<0.01) . Conclusions: PIVKA-Ⅱ can be used as a serological marker for HCC screening and diagnosis. In particular, PIVKA-Ⅱ detection was significantly sensitive than AFP in the earlier stage of HCC. Combined detection of PIVKA-Ⅱ and AFP can effectively improve the diagnostic rate of HCC in all stages. The significant elevation of PIVKA-Ⅱ is also helpful to determine the tumor aggressiveness, vascular invasion and prognosis of HCC patients.

Abstract
As environmental problems increase, there is an urgent demand for new eco-friendly materials. Natural rubber latex (NRL) is a natural material extracted from rubber trees. But its dyeing process with chemical dyes might result in contamination and environmental degradation. Here, NRL is composited with a photonic crystal (PhC) structure by spin coating for the first time. The polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) photonic nanostructure has been embedded into NRL to give it colors and provide it with optical functionalities. Colors of the composite could be designed and controlled by the sizes of the nanocolloids from 180 nm to 295 nm. The colors have strong stability under external stretching. The 3D natural rubber latex photonic crystal (NRLPC) is used as a responsive material to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including formaldehyde, acetone, toluene, xylene and styrene. With its visual color appearance, biocompatibility and flexibility, NRLPC has promising potential in various sensing applications.

Abstract
Colloidal photonic crystals (PCs), consisting of highly ordered monodisperse nanoparticles, have been carried out a great deal of research in recent decades due to the attributes of readable signal, easy modification and low cost. With these unique features, colloidal PCs have also gradually become a focus of candidates applied in sensing fields. In this review, an overview of recent advances in colloidal PCs including self-assemblies and sensing applications is illustrated. With respect to the development in self-assemblies of colloidal PCs, the review concentrates on the summary of responsive mechanisms, detection methods, responsive materials, unit cells and fabrication methods. In terms of advances in sensing application of colloidal PCs, various types of sensors are summarized based on the kinds and applications of target analytes. Furthermore, the current limitations and potential future directions of colloidal PCs in self-assemblies and sensing areas are also discussed.

An enhanced gas sensor based on SiO 2@mesoporous MCM-41 core-shell nanocomposites for SO 2 visual detection. Analyst 2020; 145:4352-4357. Abstract
A colorimetric sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas sensor based on a core-shell composite was developed. The composite was fabricated with a silicon dioxide core and a mesoporous MCM-41 shell (SiO2@MCM-41), and further loaded with a mixture of zinc chloride (ZnCl2), sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and hexamine as an SO2 indicator. The sensing properties of SiO2@MCM-41 toward SO2 were measured in solid powder, discs and a gas detection tube (GDT), respectively. Each of these sensing configurations showed a distinct color change from pale yellow to red, which indicates good potential for naked-eye detection of SO2. The limit of detection (LOD) is 2 ppm for SiO2@MCM-41 discs, which indicates high sensitivity to SO2. The performance of GDT suggested a linear relationship between the SO2 concentration and the response length of the red portions in a range of 100-1000 ppm. This work shows promising potential of SiO2@MCM-41 as an easy, effective and rapid response sensing material for the in situ detection of SO2.

Short-Term Rental Forecast of Urban Public Bicycle Based on the HOSVD-LSTM Model in Smart City. SENSORS 2020; 20:s20113072. [PMID: 32485884 PMCID: PMC7309029 DOI: 10.3390/s20113072] [Citation(s) in RCA: 5] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/24/2020] [Revised: 05/23/2020] [Accepted: 05/25/2020] [Indexed: 11/16/2022]
Abstract
As a kind of transportation in a smart city, urban public bicycles have been adopted by major cities and bear the heavy responsibility of the "last mile" of urban public transportation. At present, the main problem of the urban public bicycle system is that it is difficult for users to rent a bike during peak h, and real-time monitoring cannot be solved adequately. Therefore, predicting the demand for bicycles in a certain period and performing redistribution in advance is of great significance for solving the lag of bicycle system scheduling with the help of IoT. Based on the HOSVD-LSTM prediction model, a prediction model of urban public bicycles based on the hybrid model is proposed by transforming the source data (multiple time series) into a high-order tensor time series. Furthermore, it uses the tensor decomposition technology (HOSVD decomposition) to extract new features (kernel tenor) from higher-order tensors. At the same time, these kernel tenors are directly used to train tensor LSTM models to obtain new kernel tenors. The inverse tensor decomposition and high-dimensional, multidimensional, and tensor dimensionality reduction were introduced. The new kernel tenor obtains the predicted value of the source sequence. Then the bicycle rental amount is predicted.

Abstract
A precise determination method of azilsartan solubility between 293.15 and 333.15 K in several ordinary solvents and some of their aqueous mixtures was established by high-performance liquid chromatography. In all tested solvents, its solubility shows exponential growth with the increase in temperature. This trend is especially pronounced in methanol and ethanol. The order of solubility of azilsartan can be expressed as ethanol > tetrahydrofuran > ethanol/water (8/2, v/v) > methanol > methanol/water (8/2, v/v) > n-propanol > isopropanol > ethanol/Water (5/5, v/v) > acetonitrile. The solubility data of azilsartan were well correlated by the λh model. Moreover, the thermodynamic data including the dissolving enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy of azilsartan in each solvent were calculated which is crucial to its preparation technology study.
