Abstract
Background and purpose Understanding the temporal trends of stroke burden and its attributable risk factors are essential for targeted prevention strategies. We aimed to describe the temporal trends and attributable risk factors of stroke in China. Methods Data on the stroke burden [incidence, prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs)] and the population-attributable fraction for stroke risk factors from 1990 to 2019 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019). We analyzed trends in the burden of stroke and its attributable risk factors from 1990 to 2019, and the characteristics of stroke-attributable risk factors by sex, age group, and stroke subtype. Results From 1990 to 2019, the age-standardized incidence, mortality, and DALY rates for total stroke decreased by 9.3% (3.3, 15.5), 39.8% (28.6, 50.7), and 41.6% (30.7, 50.9) respectively. The corresponding indicators all decreased for intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage. The age-standardized incidence rate of ischemic stroke increased by 39.5% (33.5 to 46.2) for male patients and by 31.4% (24.7 to 37.7) for female patients, and the age-standardized mortality and DALY rates remained almost unchanged. The three leading stroke risk factors were high systolic blood pressure, ambient particulate matter pollution, and smoking. High systolic blood pressure has remained the leading risk factor since 1990. The attributable risk of ambient particulate matter pollution shows a clear upward trend. Smoking and alcohol consumption were important risk factors for men. Conclusion This study reinforced the findings of an increased stroke burden in China. Precise stroke prevention strategies are needed to reduce the disease burden of stroke.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Many patients with HCC of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage A exceeding the Milan criteria, or of BCLC stage B, can undergo resection after successful preoperative therapy, but an optimal approach has not been identified. We investigated preoperative drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) plus sintilimab, in this setting. APPROACH AND RESULTS In this prospective, phase II study (NCT04174781), adults with HCC of BCLC stage A exceeding the Milan criteria, or BCLC stage B, and ineligible for surgical resection, received sintilimab 200 mg and DEB-TACE. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival by modified RECIST. Secondary endpoints included objective response rate, pathologic response rate, and safety. At the data cutoff (July 2022), among 60 patients, the objective response rate was 62% (37/60) and 51 patients had undergone surgery. After a median follow-up of 26.0 months (range, 3.4-31.8), the median progression-free survival was 30.5 months (95% CI: 16.1-not reached). Among patients undergoing surgery, median progression-free survival was not reached and the 12-month progression-free survival rate was 76% (95% CI: 67-91). A pathologic complete response was achieved in 14% (7/51) of these patients. All patients experienced at least one adverse event, but these were generally manageable. Exploratory analyses showed an association between cytokeratin, V-domain Ig-containing Suppressor of T-cell Activation, CD68, CD169, and cluster 13 fibroblasts and recurrence after surgery. CONCLUSIONS Sintilimab plus DEB-TACE before surgery showed good efficacy and safety in patients with HCC of BCLC stage A exceeding the Milan criteria or BCLC stage B.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the advent of intensive combination regimens, an increasing number of patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer (UPC) have regained the opportunity for surgery. We investigated the clinical benefits and prognostic factors of conversion surgery (CS) in UPC patients. METHODS We retrospectively enrolled patients with UPC who had received CS following first-line systemic treatment in our center between 2014 to 2022. Treatment response, safety of the surgical procedure and clinicopathological data were collected. We analyzed the prognostic factors for postoperative survival among UPC patients who had CS. RESULTS Sixty-seven patients with UPC were enrolled (53 with locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC) and 14 with metastatic pancreatic cancer (MPC)). The duration of preoperative systemic treatment was 4.17 months for LAPC patients and 6.52 months for MPC patients. All patients experienced a partial response (PR) or had stable disease (SD) preoperatively according to imaging. Tumor resection was unsuccessful in four patients and, finally, R0 resection was obtained in 81% of cases. Downstaging was determined pathologically in 87% of cases; four patients achieved a complete pathological response. Median postoperative-progression-free survival (PO-PFS) was 9.77 months and postoperative overall survival (PO-OS) was 31.2 months. Multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed that the resection margin and postoperative changes in levels of tumor markers were significant prognostic factors for PO-PFS. No factors were associated significantly with PO-OS according to multivariate analyses. CONCLUSIONS CS is a promising strategy for improving the prognosis of UPC patients. The resection margin and postoperative change in levels of tumor markers are the most important prognostic factors for prolonged PFS. Multidisciplinary treatment in high-volume centers is strongly recommended. Prospective studies must be undertaken to resolve the various problems regarding optimal regimens, the duration of treatment, and detailed criteria for CS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1) is one of the key bioactive components of the precious Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been used to treat diabetes in China. Ginsenosides have been reported to protect diabetics from tissue damage, inflammation, and insulin resistance. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease that occurred frequently among adolescents over the world, its development was related to inflammation and β-cells immunodeficiency. The aim of this study is to explore the biological mechanism of Rg1 on inflammation and autophagy of β-cells in T1D and its therapeutic potential. METHODS The model of T1D mice was established by injecting Streptozotocin (STZ) (55 mg/kg) or citric acids once a day for 5 days and from the fourth day of injection, mice were administered with Rg1 (20 mg/kg) or saline by gavage once a day for 12 days. Hematoxylin-eosin staining, immunofluorescence, ELISA, quantitative real-time PCR, and Western blot were used to observe the histopathological changes, inflammatory factor levels, and autophagy markers after administration of ginsenoside Rg1. RESULTS Compared to the T1D mice, Rg1 improved the weight (p < 0.05) and blood glucose (p < 0.01) of mice, advanced the injury and apoptosis of β-cells in islets (p < 0.01), and markedly inhibited the protein expression degrees of CD45, CXCL16, ox-LDL, and TF in the pancreas and spleens (p < 0.01), also activated the degrees of insulin in serum (p < 0.01). Besides, in T1D mice' pancreas and spleen, Rg1 markedly repressed the IL-1β, TNF-α, and NOS2 mRNA levels (p < 0.05 or p < 0.01), inhibited the CXCL16, NF-κB, and TF proteins (p < 0.05 or p < 0.01), while elevating the ratio of LC3 II/I (p < 0.01) and P62 (p < 0.05) protein level. CONCLUSIONS This study proved that Rg1 protected mice against T1D possibly by improving islet injury and tissue inflammation, raising serum insulin, and tissue autophagy marker.

Abstract
Persistent truncus arteriosus is a rare congenital heart malformation which if not corrected, results in the death of about 50% of the patients, while fewer than 20% of the patients survive the first year of life. Here, we report the successful anesthetic management of an adult patient with uncorrected truncus arteriosus who presented for the laparoscopic radical resection of rectal cancer.

Abstract
The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) parameters-g factors gi (i = || and ⊥) and hyperfine structure constants Ai (M) and Ai (N), with M and N belonging to isotopes 63 Cu2+ and 65 Cu2+ -and local structure of Cu2+ ion occupying W6+ site in CaWO4 crystal are theoretically studied based on the perturbation formulas of these parameters for a 3d9 ion under tetragonally elongated tetrahedra. In these formulas, the ligand orbital (LO) and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) contributions are included due to the shorter impurity-ligand distance R (≈1.83 Å) and hence the strong covalency of the studied [CuO4 ]6- cluster, and the related molecular orbital coefficients are quantitatively determined from the cluster approach in a uniform way; meanwhile, the required crystal field (CF) parameters for the tetragonally distorted tetrahedron (TDT) are estimated from the superposition model and the local structure of the impurity Cu2+ center. According to the calculation, the bond angle θ between the four equivalent Cu2+ -O2- bonds and the C4 axis in the CaWO4 :Cu2+ is found to be about 2.1° smaller than that (θ0 ≈ 54.74°) for an ideal tetrahedron due to the Jahn-Teller (JT) effect and the size mismatch. The fitted results agree well with the observed values, and the validity of the present assignment for the local structure of the Cu2+ center is also discussed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The main propanaxatriol-type saponin found in ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Mey), ginsenoside Rg1 (G-Rg1), has bioactivities that include anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-diabetic properties. This study aimed to investigate the effects of G-Rg1 on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced Type 1 Diabetes mellitus (T1DM) mice and the insulin-secreting cell line in RIN-m5F cells with high-glucose (HG) treatment. METHODS The STZ-induced DM mice model was treated with G-Rg1 alone or combined with 3-Methyladenine (3-MA, an autophagy inhibitor)/rapamycin (RAPA, an autophagy activator) for 8 weeks, and levels of glucose and lipid metabolism, histopathological changes, as well as autophagy and apoptosis of relevant markers were estimated. In vitro, the HG-induced RIN-m5F cells were treated with G-Rg1, 3-MA, and Compound C (CC), an AMPK inhibitor, or their combinations to estimate the influences on cell apoptosis, autophagy, and AMPK/mTOR pathway-associated target gene levels. RESULTS G-Rg1 treatment attenuated glucose and lipid metabolism disorder and pancreatic fibrosis in diabetic mice. In addition, subdued autophagy and p-AMPK protein expression, and enhanced p-mTOR protein expression and apoptosis levels in TIDM mice and HG-induced RIN-m5F cells were ameliorated by G-Rg1 treatment. Furthermore, these anti-apoptosis effects of G-Rg1 were partially abolished by 3-MA and CC. CONCLUSION Our findings revealed that G-Rg1 exhibits strong anti-apoptosis ability in pancreatic tissues of type 1 diabetic mice and HG-induced RIN-m5F cells, and the mechanisms involved in activating AMPK and inhibiting mTOR-mediated autophagy, indicating that G-Rg1 may have the therapeutic and preventive potential for treating pancreatic injury in diabetic patients.

Abstract
The reuse of biomass waste is conducive to the recovery of resources and can solve the pollution problem caused by incineration and landfill. For this reason, the thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) was used to study the pyrolysis of the mushroom sticks (MS) and discarded meal boxes at different heating rates (10 °C·min-1, 20 °C·min-1, 30 °C·min-1). The statistical analysis showed that the factors of pyrolysis temperature and particle size had a greater effect, while the heating rate was significant. The TGA revealed that the maximum weight loss rate of the co-pyrolysis of MS and discarded meal boxes increased with the rise of the heating rate, the temperature at which the pyrolysis started and ended increased, and the thermal weight loss displayed a hysteresis phenomenon. By comparing the theoretical heat weight loss curves with the experimental curves, a synergistic effect of the co-pyrolysis process between MS and discarded meal boxes was demonstrated, and the co-pyrolysis process resulted in a reduction in the solid residue content of the products. The Coats-Redfern method was used to fit the pyrolysis process of MS and discarded meal boxes, which applied the first-order kinetic model to describe the main process of pyrolysis and obtained the reaction activation energy between 43 and 45 kJ·mol-1. The results indicated that co-pyrolysis of MS and discarded meal boxes could decrease the activation energy of the reaction, make the reaction easier, promote the degree of pyrolysis reaction, reduce the generation of pollutants, and provide a theoretical basis for the recycling and energy utilization of MS and discarded meal boxes.

Abstract
Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant digestive tract tumour with a poor prognosis. We herein report the case of a 58-year-old female who presented, in June 2019, because of upper abdominal discomfort after eating. Initially, the patient was diagnosed with chronic non-atrophic gastritis with erosion and multiple gastric polyps by gastroscopic examination. Subsequently, CT and MRI examinations revealed that dilatation of the pancreatic duct and low-density nodular shadows enhanced in the neck and body of the pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasonography identified the echo foci in the same position. Additionally, a high-level of CA19-9 in the patient’s serum was noted, which was a tumour marker of pancreatic cancer. Finally, the patient was diagnosed with poorly differentiated pancreatic cancer with squamous carcinoma and plasmacytoid microcystic adenoma.

Abstract
Improving the efficiency of using energy and decreasing impacts on the environment will be an inevitable choice for future development. Based on this direction, three kinds of medium (modified anaerobic digestion wastewater, anaerobic digestion wastewater and a standard growth medium BG11) were used to culture microalgae towards achieving high-quality biodiesel products. The results showed that microalgae culturing with anaerobic digestate wastewater could increase lipid content (21.8%); however, the modified anaerobic digestion wastewater can boost the microalgal biomass production to 0.78 ± 0.01 g/L when compared with (0.35-0.54 g/L) the other two groups. Besides the first step lipid extraction, the elemental composition, thermogravimetric and pyrolysis products of the defatted microalgal residues were also analysed to delve into the utilisation potential of microalgae biomass. Defatted microalgae from modified wastewater by pyrolysis at 650 °C resulted in an increase in the total content of valuable products (39.47%) with no significant difference in the content of toxic compounds compared to other groups. Moreover, the results of the life cycle assessment showed that the environmental impact (388.9 mPET2000) was lower than that of raw wastewater (418.1 mPET2000) and standard medium (497.3 mPET2000)-cultivated groups. Consequently, the method of culturing microalgae in modified wastewater and pyrolyzing algal residues has a potential to increase renewable energy production and reduce environmental impact.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The disease burden of ischemic heart disease (IHD) continues to increase. This study aimed to assess the age, period, and cohort effects on the long-term trends of IHD incidence and mortality in China from 1990 to 2019. METHODS AND RESULTS The data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019, and the age-standardized incidence/mortality rate (ASIR/ASMR) was calculated. The age-period-cohort (APC) model, which is a generalized linear model revealing the correlation of disease rate and attained age, period, and cohort, was applied to estimate the net drift (estimated annual percentage change [EAPC]s), the local drifts (age-specific EAPCs), the age, period, and cohort effects. The analyses elucidated that the ASIR and ASMR of IHD declined after 2013. The net drift of incidence was 0.212% in females, and the net drift of mortality was 0.371% in males. The local drifts of mortality were above 0 in males aged 20-84 years and in females aged 65-84 years. The age effects showed elevated trends during the study period. The period effects declined after 2013. The cohort effects of mortality in males were higher than that in females. CONCLUSIONS The decrease of ASIR and ASMR indicated that measures to prevent IHD have been effective in China. However, the cardiovascular health of the elderly and males should be considered in future policy decisions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to comprehensively investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics and therapeutic situations of gallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms (GB-NENs) in the real world via a multicenter, large-scale cohort study. METHODS The study searched for patients in 143 hospitals in China and enrolled 154 patients with GB-NENs diagnosed in 40 hospitals between 2004 and 2021. Clinicopathologic characteristics and therapeutic approaches were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS The median age at the initial diagnosis of the patients with GB-NENs was 63 years (range 33-83 years), and 61.7% of the patients were women. Tumor-node-metastasis staging classified 92 patients as stage 3 or above. Based on the 2019 World Health Organization classification, 96 cases (62.3%) were confirmed pathologically as poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas, 13 cases (8.4%) as well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors, and 45 cases as mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms. The liver was the most frequent metastatic site. Immunohistochemistry showed that synaptophysin was most frequently positive (80.4%), followed by chromogranin A (61.7%), and CD56 (58.4%). Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed more common clear boundaries (25/39 cases) and invasive growth features (27 cases). None of these cases had an accurate diagnosis before surgery, with a misdiagnosis rate of 100%. Surgical resection is the main treatment, and platinum-based chemotherapeutic regimens were preferred as adjuvant therapies for patients with GB-NENs. The available survival data for 74 patients showed an overall survival rate of 59% at 1 year, 33% at 3 years, and 29% at 5 years. No significant difference was found between the patients treated with and those treated without adjuvant chemotherapy. CONCLUSIONS Gallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms have high malignancy and a poor prognosis. Importantly, this large-scale cohort study significantly improves our understanding of GB-NENs and will benefit the exploration of its mechanism and treatment modes. Further investigation is necessary to explore the management of this disease.

Abstract
Objective Brain atrophy is an important imaging characteristic of cerebral small vascular disease (CSVD). Our study explores the linear measurement application on CT images of CSVD patients and develops a fully automatic brain atrophy classification model. The second aim was to compare it with the end-to-end Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) model. Methods A total of 385 subjects such as 107 no-atrophy brain, 185 mild atrophy, and 93 severe atrophy were collected and randomly separated into training set (n = 308) and test set (n = 77). Key slices for linear measurement were manually identified and used to annotate nine linear measurements and a binary classification of cerebral sulci widening. A linear-measurement-based pipeline (2D model) was constructed for two-types (existence/non-existence brain atrophy) or three-types classification (no/mild atrophy/severe atrophy). For comparison, an end-to-end CNN model (3D-deep learning model) for brain atrophy classification was also developed. Furthermore, age and gender were integrated to the 2D and 3D models. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, average F1 score, receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves for two-type classification and weighed kappa for three-type classification of the two models were compared. Results Automated measurement of linear measurements and cerebral sulci widening achieved moderate to almost perfect agreement with manual annotation. In two-type atrophy classification, area under the curves (AUCs) of the 2D model and 3D model were 0.953 and 0.941 with no significant difference (p = 0.250). The Weighted kappa of the 2D model and 3D model were 0.727 and 0.607 according to standard classification they displayed, mild atrophy and severe atrophy, respectively. Applying patient age and gender information improved classification performances of both 2D and 3D models in two-type and three-type classification of brain atrophy. Conclusion We provide a model composed of different modules that can classify CSVD-related brain atrophy on CT images automatically, using linear measurement. It has similar performance and better interpretability than the end-to-end CNNs model and may prove advantageous in the clinical setting.

Abstract
To assess the treatment effectiveness of vital inflamed pulp therapy (VIPT) in immature permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis and apical periodontitis. The faculty members in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, the Ninth People's Hospital were invited to submit consecutive VIPT cases from June 2015 to June 2016 (follow-up periods>12 months). The cases were retrospectively reviewed, clinical symptoms and radiographic changes in periapical radiolucency were evaluated, meanwhile, the data of radiographic changes such as apical diameter and root length were calculated and analyzed with ANOVA. Totally thirteen submitted patients/cases were included (6 males and 7 females) in the present study,. The average age of patients was (9.9±1.4) years old. The average follow-up time was (26.5±6.8) months (17-37 months). At the 12-month visit, all 13 treated teeth survived, 9 out of 11 teeth with apical periodontitis showed normal radiographic manifestation. At the 3, 6 and 12 months visits, the within-case percentage changes in apical diameter were (8.0±5.1)%, (24.1±9.1)% and (70.3±10.7)%, respectively, while the within-case percentage changes in root length were (11.4±9.8)%, (14.5±9.8)% and (27.4±14.2)%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in the changes of apical diameter (F=18.80, P<0.001) and root length (F=4.64, P=0.047) from the preoperative time to the postoperative follow-ups. VIPT might improve clinical outcomes, even achieve continued root development. VIPT can be an option in treating immature teeth with irreversible pulpitis and apical periodontitis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prediction models with or without radiomic analysis for microvascular invasion (MVI) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been reported, but the potential for model-predicted MVI in surgical planning is unclear. Therefore, we aimed to explore the effect of predicted MVI on early recurrence after anatomic resection (AR) and non-anatomic resection (NAR) to assist surgical strategies. METHODS Patients with a single HCC of 2-5 cm receiving curative resection were enrolled from 2 centers. Their data were used to develop (n = 230) and test (n = 219) two prediction models for MVI using clinical factors and preoperative computed tomography images. The two prediction models, clinico-radiologic model and clinico-radiologic-radiomic (CRR) model (clinico-radiologic variables + radiomic signature), were compared using the Delong test. Early recurrence based on model-predicted high-risk MVI was evaluated between AR (n = 118) and NAR (n = 85) via propensity score matching using patient data from another 2 centers for external validation. RESULTS The CRR model showed higher area under the curve values (0.835-0.864 across development, test, and external validation) but no statistically significant improvement over the clinico-radiologic model (0.796-0.828). After propensity score matching, difference in 2-year recurrence between AR and NAR was found in the CRR model predicted high-risk MVI group (P = 0.005) but not in the clinico-radiologic model predicted high-risk MVI group (P = 0.31). CONCLUSIONS The prediction model incorporating radiomics provided an accurate preoperative estimation of MVI, showing the potential for choosing the more appropriate surgical procedure between AR and NAR.

Abstract
IgA nephropathy is the most common glomerular disease in the world and has become a serious threat to human health. Accurate and non-invasive molecular imaging to detect and recognize the IgA nephropathy is critical for the subsequent timely treatment; otherwise, it may progress to end-stage renal disease and lead to glomerular dysfunction. In this study, we have developed a sensitive, specific, and biocompatible integrin αvβ3-targeted superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) for the noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of integrin αvβ3, which is overexpressed in glomerular mesangial region of IgA nephropathy. The rat model of IgA nephropathy was successfully established and verified by biochemical tests and histological staining. Meanwhile, the clinical 18F-AlF-NOTA-PRGD2 probe molecule was utilized to visualize and further confirmed the IgA nephropathy in vivo via positron emission computed tomography. Subsequently, the Fe3O4 NPs were conjugated with arginine–glycine–aspartic acid (RGD) molecules (Fe3O4-RGD), and their integrin αvβ3-targeted T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) potential has been carefully evaluated. The Fe3O4-RGD demonstrated great relaxation in vivo. The T2WI signal of renal layers in the targeted group at 3 h after intravenous injection of Fe3O4-RGD was distinctly lower than baseline, indicating MRI signal decreased in the established IgA nephropathy rat model. Moreover, the TEM characterization and Prussian blue staining confirmed that the Fe3O4-RGD was located at the region of glomerulus and tubular interstitium. Moreover, no obvious signal decreased was detected in the untargeted Fe3O4 treated and normal groups. Collectively, our results establish the possibility of Fe3O4-RGD serving as a feasible MRI agent for the noninvasive diagnosis of IgA nephropathy.

Abstract
Embryo loss is an important factor affecting fertility in dairy production. HH2 was identified as a haplotype on chromosome 1 associated with embryonic lethality in Holstein cattle. In the current study, both short- and long-read WGS was performed on four carriers and four non-carriers of HH2 to screen for variants in concordance with HH2 haplotype status. Sequence variation analysis revealed five putative functional variants of protein-coding genes, including a frameshift mutation (g.107172616delT) in intraflagellar transport protein 80 (IFT80) gene. Transcriptome analysis of whole blood indicated that no gene exhibited significantly differential expression or allele-specific expression between carriers and non-carriers in the candidate region. This evidence points to g.107172616delT as the highest priority causative mutation for HH2. Protein prediction reveals that the frameshift mutation results in a premature stop codon to reduce the peptide chain from 760 to 383 amino acids and greatly alters the structure and function of IFT80 protein. Our results demonstrate that the use of a combination of multiple high-throughput sequencing technologies is an efficient strategy to screen for the candidate causative mutations responsible for Mendelian traits, including genetic disorders.

Abstract
Supernumerary teats (SNT) are a common epidermal abnormality of udders in mammals. The SNT negatively affect machine milking ability, udder health, and animal welfare and sometimes act as reservoirs for undesirable bacteria, resulting in economic losses on calves and lactating cows due to the cost of SNT removal surgery, early culling, and low milk yield. This study aimed to analyze the incidence and genetic parameter of SNT and detect SNT-related genes in Chinese Holstein cattle. In this study, the incidence of SNT was recorded in 4,670 Chinese Holstein cattle (born between 2008 and 2017) from 2 farms, including 734 genotyped cows with 114,485 SNPs. The SNT had a total frequency of 9.8% and estimated heritability of 0.22 (SE = 0.07), which were obtained using a threshold model in the studied Chinese Holstein population. Furthermore, we calculated approximate genetic correlations between SNT and the following indicator traits: 12 milk production, 28 body conformation, 5 fertility and reproduction, 5 health, and 9 longevity. Generally, the estimated correlations, such as 305-d milk yield for third parity (-0.55; SE = 0.02) and age at first calving in heifer (0.19; SE = 0.03), were low to moderate. A single-step GWAS was implemented, and 10 genes associated with SNT located in BTA4 were identified. The region (112.70-112.90 Mb) on BTA4 showed the highest genetic variance for SNT. The quantitative trait loci on BTA4 was mapped into the RARRES2 gene, which was previously shown to affect adipogenesis and hormone secretion. The WIF1 gene, which was located in BTA5, was also considered as a candidate gene for SNT. Overall, these findings provide useful information for breeders who are interested in reducing SNT.
