Abstract
BACKGROUND Researchers have not studied the integrity, orderly correlation, and dynamic openness of complex organisms and explored the laws of systems from a global perspective. In the context of reductionism, antidepressant development formerly focused on advanced technology and molecular details, clear targets and mechanisms, but the clinical results were often unsatisfactory. PURPOSE MDD represents an aggregate of different and highly diverse disease subtypes. The co-occurrence of stress-induced nonrandom multimorbidity is widespread, whereas only a fraction of the potential clusters are well known, such as the MDD-FGID cluster. Mapping these clusters, and determining which are nonrandom, is vital for discovering new mechanisms, developing treatments, and reconfiguring services to better meet patient needs. STUDY DESIGN Acute stress 15-minute forced swimming (AFS) or CUMS protocols can induce the nonrandom MDD-FGID cluster. Multiple biological processes of rats with depression-like behaviours and gastrointestinal dysmobility will be captured under conditions of stress, and the Fructus Aurantii-Rhizoma Chuanxiong (ZQCX) decoction will be utilized to dock the MDD-FGID cluster. METHODS/RESULTS Here, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, one of the seven components of Chaihu-shugan-San, elicited the best antidepressant effect on CUMS rats, followed by Fructus Aurantii. ZQCX reversed AFS-induced depression-like behaviours and gastrointestinal dysmobility by regulating the glutamatergic system, AMPAR/BDNF/mTOR/synapsin I pathway, ghrelin signalling and gastrointestinal nitric oxide synthase. Based on the bioethnopharmacological analysis strategy, the determined meranzin hydrate (MH) and senkyunolide I (SI) by UPLC-PDA, simultaneously absorbed by the jejunum and hippocampus of rats, have been considered major absorbed bioactive compounds acting on behalf of ZQCX. Cotreatment with MH and SI at an equivalent dose in ZQCX synergistically replicated over 50.33 % efficacy of the parent formula in terms of antidepressant and prokinetic actions by modulating neuroinflammation and ghrelin signalling. CONCLUSION Brain-centric mind shifts require the integration of multiple central and peripheral systems and the elucidation of the underlying neurobiological mechanisms that ultimately contribute to novel therapeutic options. Ghrelin signalling and the immune system may partially underlie multimorbidity vulnerability, and ZQCX anchors stress-induced MDD-FGID clusters by docking them. Combining the results of micro details with the laws of the macro world may be more effective in finding treatments for MDD.

Abstract
Fluoride (F) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) contamination is recognized as a public health concern worldwide. Our previous research has shown that Co-exposure to F and SO2 can cause abnormal enamel mineralization. Ameloblastin (AMBN) plays a crucial role in the process of enamel mineralization. However, the process by which simultaneous exposure to F and SO2 influences enamel formation by regulating AMBN expression still needs to be understood. This study aimed to establish in vivo and in vitro models of F-SO2 Co-exposure and investigate the relationship between AMBN and abnormal enamel mineralization. By overexpressing/knocking out the Fibroblast Growth Factor 9 (FGF9) gene, we investigated the impact of FGF9-mediated Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) signaling on AMBN synthesis to elucidate the mechanism underlying the induction of abnormal enamel mineralization by F-SO2 Co-exposure in rats. The results showed that F-SO2 exposure damaged the structure of rat enamel and ameloblasts. When exposed to F or SO2, gradual increases in the protein expression of FGF9 and phosphorylated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p-P38) were observed. Conversely, the protein levels of AMBN, phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p-ERK), and phosphorylated c-Jun N-terminal kinase (p-JNK) were decreased. AMBN expression was significantly correlated with FGF9, p-ERK, and p-JNK expression in ameloblasts. Interestingly, FGF9 overexpression reduced the levels of p-ERK and p-JNK, worsening the inhibitory effect of F-SO2 on AMBN. Conversely, FGF9 knockout increased the phosphorylation of ERK and JNK, partially reversing the F-SO2-induced downregulation of AMBN. Taken together, these findings strongly demonstrate that FGF9 plays a critical role in F-SO2-induced abnormal enamel mineralization by regulating AMBN synthesis through the JNK and ERK pathways.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The enhanced recovery after cardiac surgery is a bundle of measurements from preoperative to postoperative phases to improve patients' recovery. METHODS This study is a multicenter, stepwise design, cluster randomized controlled trial. About 3,600 patients presenting during control and intervention periods are eligible if they are aged from 18 to 80 years old awaiting elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). About 5 centers are randomly assigned to staggered start dates for one-way crossover from the control phase to the intervention phase. In the intervention periods, patients will receive ERAS strategy including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative approaches. During the control phase, patients receive usual care. The primary outcome consists of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs), and acute kidney injury (AKI). DISCUSSION This study aims to compare the application of ERAS management protocol and traditional management protocol in adult cardiac surgery under extracorporeal circulation.

Abstract
Lipid A plays a crucial role in Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Previously we have reported the diversity of secondary acylation of lipid A in V. parahaemolyticus and four V. parahaemolyticus genes VP_RS08405, VP_RS01045, VP_RS12170, and VP_RS00880 exhibiting homology to the secondary acyltransferases in Escherichia coli. In this study, the gene VP_RS12170 was identified as a specific lipid A secondary hydroxy-acyltransferase responsible for transferring a 3-hydroxymyristate to the 2'-position of lipid A. Four E. coli mutant strains WHL00, WHM00, WH300, and WH001 were constructed, and they would synthesize lipid A with different structures due to the absence of genes encoding lipid A secondary acyltransferases or Kdo transferase. Then V. parahaemolyticus VP_RS12170 was overexpressed in W3110, WHL00, WHM00, WH300, and WH001, and lipid A was isolated from these strains and analyzed by using thin-layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The detailed structural changes of lipid A in these mutant strains with and without VP_RS12170 overexpression were compared and conclude that VP_RS12170 can specifically transfer a 3-hydroxymyristate to the 2'-position of lipid A. This study also demonstrated that the function of VP_RS12170 is Kdo-dependent and its favorite substrate is Kdo-lipid IVA. These findings give us better understanding the biosynthetic pathway and the structural diversity of V. parahaemolyticus lipid A.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mandibular reconstruction patients often suffer abnormalities in the mandibular kinematics. In silico simulations, such as musculoskeletal modelling, can be used to predict post-operative mandibular kinematics. It is important to validate the mandibular musculoskeletal model and analyse the factors influencing its accuracy. OBJECTIVES To investigate the jaw opening-closing movements after mandibular reconstruction, as predicted by the subject-specific musculoskeletal model, and the factors influencing its accuracy. METHODS Ten mandibular reconstruction patients were enrolled in this study. Cone-beam computed tomography images, mandibular movements, and surface electromyogram signals were recorded preoperatively. A subject-specific mandibular musculoskeletal model was established to predict surgical outcomes using patient-averaged muscle parameter changes as model inputs. Jaw bone geometry was replaced by surgical planning results, and the muscle insertion sites were registered based on the non-rigid iterative closest point method. The predicted jaw kinematic data were validated based on 6-month post-operative measurements. Correlations between the prediction accuracy and patient characteristics (age, pathology and surgical scope) were further analysed. RESULTS The root mean square error (RMSE) for lower incisor displacement was 31.4%, and the error for peak magnitude of jaw opening was 4.9 mm. Age, post-operative infection and radiotherapy influenced the prediction accuracy. The amount of masseter detachment showed little correlation with jaw opening. CONCLUSION The mandibular musculoskeletal model successfully predicted short-range jaw opening functions after mandibular reconstruction. It provides a novel surgical planning method to predict the risk of developing trismus.

Abstract
Dissolve organic matters (DOM) usually showed negative effect on the removal of inorganic arsenic (As) in groundwater by electrochemical approaches, yet which parts of sub-component within DOM played the role was lack of evidence. Herein, we investigated the effects of land-source humic-like acid (HA) on groundwater As(III) removal using air cathode iron electrocoagulation, based on the parallel factor analysis of three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix and statistical methods. Our results showed that the land-source HA contained five kinds of components and all components presented significantly negative correlations with the removal of both As(III) and As(V). However, the high aromatic fulvic-like acid and low aromatic humic-like acid components of land-source HA presented the opposite correlations with the concentration of As(III) during the reaction. The high aromaticity fulvic-like components of land-source HA (Sigma-Aldrich HA, SAHA) produced during the reaction facilitated the oxidation of As(III) due to its high electron transfer capacities and good solubility in wide pH range, but the low aromaticity humic-like ones worked against the oxidation of As(III). Our findings offered the novel insights for the flexible activities of DOM in electron Fenton system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prolonged use of medical masks has increased skin-related issues. AIM To evaluate the efficacy of a facial cream and facial mask in mitigating medical mask related skin symptoms. METHODS Healthy women were randomly assigned to apply a facial cream (n = 32) or a facial mask plus a facial cream (n = 32) on half-faces after wearing medical masks for 4 h (Tb). Transepidermal water loss (TEWL), dryness score, and redness area were assessed at Tb and 10 min after using the cream (T1) in the facial cream group, and at Tb, 1 h after using the facial mask (T2), and 10 min after using the cream (T3) in the combined use group. RESULTS In the facial cream group, the treated half-face showed significantly better improvements from Tb to T1 in TEWL (-2.95 ± 0.38 vs. -0.68 ± 0.35 g/h·cm2, p < 0.001) and skin dryness score (-1.00 ± 0.12 vs. 0.00 ± 0.00, p < 0.001). In the combined use group, the treated half-face showed significantly better improvements from Tb to T2 and T3 in TEWL (T2, -3.46 ± 0.33 vs. -0.09 ± 0.13 g/h·cm2; T3, -4.67 ± 0.31 vs. -0.28 ± 0.22 g/h·cm2) and skin dryness score (T2, -0.63 ± 0.13 vs. 0.03 ± 0.03; T3, -0.94 ± 0.17 vs. 0.19 ± 0.07) (all p < 0.001) then the untreated half-face. The combined use group had significantly lower TEWL at T3 than T2 (p < 0.05). The reduction in redness area was similar between the treated and untreated half-faces in both groups. CONCLUSIONS The test facial cream and mask significantly improved skin barrier function and alleviated dryness symptoms associated with medical mask use, with the combined use offering superior benefits.

Abstract
Exosomes are nanoscale small vesicles (EVs) secreted by cells that carry important bio information, including proteins, miRNAs, and more. Exosome contents are readily present in body fluids, including blood, and urine of humans and animals, and thereby act as markers of diseases. In patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), exosomes may spread alpha-synuclein and miR-184 between the cells contributing to dopaminergic neuronal loss. In this study, we detected the levels of miR-184 in urine-excreted neuronal exosomes between PD patients and age-matched healthy subjects by qRT-PCR analysis. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) were also used to determine the ultracellular structures of exosomes nanoparticles. MPP + and MPTP were used to construct the cell and animal PD model. Behavioral tests were used to detect motor performance. Furthermore, the cytological experiments were measured to examine the relationship between miR-184 and ZNF865. We found that the levels of miR-184 in urine-derived neuronal exosomes from PD patients were higher, compared to aged-matched normal people. The exosomes from PD patients were larger with greater numbers than those from the age-matched healthy subjects. The difference in miR-184 in urinary exosomes between PD patients and normal people may provide a novel perspective for early diagnosis of PD. However, no difference in CD63 level was observed in Exo-control and Exo-PD groups (exosome from control or PD groups). Moreover, ZNF865 was detected as the targeted gene of miR-184. In addition, miR-184 ASO (miR-184 antisense oligodeoxynucleotide, miR-184 ASO) could rescue the damage of neuronal apoptosis and motor performance in PD mice. Our results showed the miR-184 potential to function as a diagnostic marker of PD.

Abstract
Since 2012, there has been a noticeable upward trend in the global incidence of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) cases, leading to substantial economic losses in the poultry industry. In response to this trend, the current study aimed to investigate the phylogenetic information, genetic mutations, and pathogenicity of the highly pathogenic fowl adenovirus (FAdV) strain HN1472, which was isolated from liver samples obtained from a laying flock affected by IBH. This investigation was carried out using 1-day-old specific pathogen-free (SPF) chickens. Recombination and phylogenetic analyses confirmed that HN1472 is a recombinant strain derived from FAdV-8a and FAdV-8b, and exhibited significant genetic divergence in the hexon, fiber, and ORF19 genes. Notably, the phylogenetic analysis identified recombination events in these regions. Furthermore, animal experiments revealed that HN1472 is a highly pathogenic isolate, causing 80% mortality and manifesting clinical signs of IBH in SPF chickens. Furthermore, the recombinant FAdV serotype 8b (FAdV-8b) was found to be widely distributed in various tissues, with a higher concentration in the livers and gizzard tissue at 3 d postchallenge (dpc). Collectively, these findings contribute to our current understanding of the factors influencing the pathogenicity and genetic diversity of FAdV serotype 8b (FAdV-8b) in China.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Persistent nasal carriage has been associated with Staphylococcus aureus infection. Previous S. aureus studies in Asia have primarily focused on clinical patients, providing limited information on persistent nasal carriage among the general adult population. METHODS This study examined 143 healthy adults in a community in Jiangsu, China. Nasal swab samples were collected 10 times. The colonization status was identified using SPA typing. We also determined antimicrobial susceptibility, genotype, and genomic characteristics of S. aureus. RESULTS The prevalence of S. aureus nasal carriage among the community individuals was on average 16.78%. The carriage rates of methicillin-resistant S. aureus and multidrug-resistant S. aureus were 6.29% and 7.69%, respectively. We identified 8.39% persistent carriers, 39.16% intermittent carriers, and 52.45% noncarriers. Furthermore, family members displayed concordance in terms of genotype and genomic characteristics. CONCLUSION Persistent nasal sampling captured intermittent carriers that were missed during short-term sampling, thus highlighting the necessity for regular community testing. SPA typing can serve as a rapid method for determining S. aureus colonization. The potential for intrafamilial transmission of S. aureus is evident, with persistent carriers being the most probable source of infection.

Abstract
Liver fibrosis is an invertible pathophysiologic process featured by excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) which injures liver cells and activates hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Besides, inducing ferroptosis in activated HSCs can alleviate liver fibrosis. LncRNAs modulate ferroptosis in activated HSCs and ECM deposition in liver fibrosis. However, the role of lncRNA FRMD6-AS1 in liver fibrosis is not discovered. In this study, lncRNA FRMD6-AS1 was dramatically up-regulated in activated HSCs. Knockdown of FRMD6-AS1 markedly increased iron ion, ROS and MDA levels, decreased GSH level, SLC7A11 and GPX4 protein expressions in activated HSCs. In addition, HSCs activation markers α-SMA and COL1α1 expressions were up-regulated in activated HSCs; knockdown of FRMD6-AS1 markedly down-regulated α-SMA and COL1α1 expressions in HSCs. Besides, lncRNA FRMD6-AS1 could interact with miR-491-5p, and negatively modulate miR-491-5p expression. USP13 was a target of miR-491-5p, and could be negatively modulated by miR-491-5p. Moreover, FRMD6-AS1 knockdown increased iron ion and ROS levels, decreased SLC7A11 and GPX4 protein expressions, facilitated HSCs viability, and up-regulated α-SMA and COL1α1 expressions via miR-491-5p/USP13 pathway. Finally, FRMD6-AS1 knockdown restored liver tissue structure and abrogated fibrosis in livers in a CCL4 liver fibrosis mouse model. Hence, lncRNA FRMD6-AS1/miR-491-5p/USP13 pathway repressed ferroptosis, promoted ECM deposition and facilitated liver fibrosis in vitro and in vivo models.

Abstract
Heparosan as the precursor for heparin biosynthesis has attracted intensive attention while Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) has been applied as a chassis for heparosan biosynthesis. Here, after uncovering the pivotal role of KfiB in heparosan biosynthesis, we further demonstrate KfiB is involved in facilitating KpsT to translocate the nascent heparosan polysaccharide chain. As a result, an artificial expression cassette KfiACB was constructed with optimized RBS elements, resulting in 0.77 g/L heparosan in shake flask culture. Moreover, in view of the intracellular accumulation of heparosan, we further investigated the effects of overexpression of the ABC transport system proteins on heparosan biosynthesis. By co-overexpressing KfiACB with KpsTME, the heparosan production in flask cultures was increased to 1.03 g/L with an extracellular concentration of 0.96 g/L. Eventually, the engineered strain EcN/pET-kfiACB3-galU-kfiD-glmM/pCDF-kpsTME produced 12.2 g/L heparosan in 5-L fed-batch cultures while the extracellular heparosan was about 11.2 g/L. The results demonstrate the high-efficiency of the strategy for co-optimizing the polymerization and transportation for heparosan biosynthesis. Moreover, this strategy should be also available for enhancing the production of other polysaccharides.

Abstract
Among various biopolymers, protein particles are widely used for stabilizing Pickering emulsions, yet their emulsifying ability are easily influenced by the ion concentration, pH, and high temperatures. To address these challenges, this study utilized chemical modification to prepare pea protein isolate-polyglycerol (PPI-PG) conjugates by Schiff-base reaction. Compared with other chemical modifications, this method produces conjugate particles with excellent biocompatibility, capable of promoting cell proliferation by up to 177 %. These conjugates showed improved dispersibility, with diffusion coefficients 3.5 times greater than pure PPI, and the isoelectric points shift from pH 4.6 to pH 1.5, which contribute to the pH stability of emulsions (pH 3-9). Additionally, the anisotropic nature of the conjugate particles, with a three-phase contact angle close to 90°, make particles need more energy for detachment from the oil-water interface, leading to good thermal stability of emulsion (80 °C, 48 h). Notably, after conjugation, these particles rely more on PG chains for dispersibility, which are less affected by ions, resulting in emulsions with high ionic strength resistance (3000 mM). Furthermore, the prepared Pickering emulsion demonstrates remarkable antioxidative properties (only a 10 % decrease), indicating widely potential applications in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Abstract
The plant cuticle is composed of cuticular wax and cutin polymers and plays an essential role in plant tolerance to diverse abiotic and biotic stresses. Several stresses, including water deficit and salinity, regulate the synthesis of cuticular wax and cutin monomers. However, the effect of wounding on wax and cutin monomer production and the associated molecular mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we determined that the accumulation of wax and cutin monomers in Arabidopsis leaves is positively regulated by wounding primarily through the jasmonic acid (JA) signaling pathway. Moreover, we observed that a wound- and JA-responsive gene (CYP96A4) encoding an ER-localized cytochrome P450 enzyme was highly expressed in leaves. Further analyses indicated that wound-induced wax and cutin monomer production was severely inhibited in the cyp96a4 mutant. Furthermore, CYP96A4 interacted with CER1 and CER3, the core enzymes in the alkane-forming pathway associated with wax biosynthesis, and modulated CER3 activity to influence aldehyde production in wax synthesis. In addition, transcripts of MYC2 and JAZ1, key genes in JA signaling pathway, were significantly reduced in cyp96a4 mutant. Collectively, these findings demonstrate that CYP96A4 functions as a cofactor of the alkane synthesis complex or participates in JA signaling pathway that contributes to cuticular wax biosynthesis and cutin monomer formation in response to wounding.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Palmitic acid (PA), the major saturated fatty acid in the blood, often induces the initiation and progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. DACH1 is an important regulator of kidney functions. Herein, we investigated the roles of DACH1 in PA-induced kidney injury. METHODS Clinical data from the NHANES database were subjected to analyse the association between serum PA (sPA), blood glucose and kidney function. Molecular docking of PA was performed with DACH1. Immunohistochemistry, cell viability, annexin V/7-AAD double staining, TUNEL assay, immunofluorescent staining, autophagic flux analysis, qRT-PCR and western blot were performed. RESULTS Clinical data confirmed that sPA was increased significantly in the pathoglycemia individuals compared with controls and correlated negatively with renal function. Our findings suggested that PA could dock with DACH1. DACH1 enhances cell viability by inhibiting apoptosis and attenuating autophagy blockage induced by PA. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that DACH1 ameliorated inflammation and fibrosis through TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB and TGF-β/Smad signalling pathway in PA-treated renal tubular epithelial cell line (HK-2). CONCLUSIONS This study proved that sPA presents a risk factor for kidney injuries and DACH1 might serve as a protective target against renal function deterioration in diabetic patients.

Abstract
Bacteria exhibit a rich repertoire of RNA molecules that intricately regulate gene expression at multiple hierarchical levels, including small RNAs (sRNAs), riboswitches, and antisense RNAs. Notably, the majority of these regulatory RNAs lack or have limited protein-coding capacity but play pivotal roles in orchestrating gene expression by modulating transcription, post-transcription or translation processes. Leveraging and redesigning these regulatory RNA elements have emerged as pivotal strategies in the domains of metabolic engineering and synthetic biology. While previous investigations predominantly focused on delineating the roles of regulatory RNA in Gram-negative bacterial models such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica, this review aims to summarize the mechanisms and functionalities of endogenous regulatory RNAs inherent to typical Gram-positive bacteria, notably Bacillus subtilis. Furthermore, we explore the engineering and practical applications of these regulatory RNA elements in the arena of synthetic biology, employing B. subtilis as a foundational chassis.

Abstract
The current standard second-line treatment is immune checkpoint inhibitors monotherapy for nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. The objective of this phase 2 study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nivolumab plus docetaxel compared with nivolumab monotherapy for second-line therapy in immunotherapy-naive patients with advanced NSCLC. Progression-free survival (PFS) was the primary endpoint of this phase 2 study. Patients were randomized to receive nivolumab plus docetaxel or nivolumab monotherapy. From July 2019 to June 2022, a total of 22 patients were recruited, with significantly longer median PFS observed in the nivolumab plus docetaxel group (4.0 months) compared to the nivolumab group (2.0 months), P = 0.0019. The study was closed in June 2022 due to slow recruitment. The objective response rate was 10.0% [95% confidence interval (CI), 0-28.6] in the nivolumab group and 25% (95% CI, 0.5-49.5) in the nivolumab + docetaxel group ( P = 0.346). Disease control was significantly higher in the nivolumab plus docetaxel arm (40.0% versus 83.3%, P = 0.035). There was also an improvement in overall survival (OS) in the nivolumab + docetaxel arm, but this was not statistically significant (10.0 months versus 7.2 months, P = 0.129). The addition of docetaxel to nivolumab was well-tolerated, with adverse events more common in the combination group. Despite the small sample size, the results suggest that the addition of docetaxel to nivolumab may be a promising treatment option for NSCLC patients progressing on platinum-based chemotherapy, with trends towards improved OS observed.

Abstract
AIMS Intracranial germ cell tumour (IGCT) is a type of rare central nervous system tumour that mainly occurs in children and adolescents, with great variation in its incidence rate and molecular characteristics in patients from different populations. The genetic alterations of IGCT in the Chinese population are still unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS In this study, 47 patients were enrolled and their tumour specimens were analysed by whole-exome sequencing (WES). We found that KIT was the most significantly mutated gene (15/47, 32%), which mainly occurred in the germinoma group (13/20, 65%), and less frequently in NGGCT (2/27, 7%). Copy number variations (CNVs) of FGF6 and TFE3 only appeared in NGGCT patients (P = 0.003 and 0.032, respectively), while CNVs of CXCR4, RAC2, PDGFA, and FEV only appeared in germinoma patients (P = 0.004 of CXCR4 and P = 0.027 for the last three genes). Compared with a previous Japanese cohort, the somatic mutation rates of RELN and SYNE1 were higher in the Chinese. Prognostic analysis showed that the NF1 mutation was associated with shorter overall survival and progression-free survival in IGCT patients. Clonal evolution analysis revealed an early branched evolutionary pattern in two IGCT patients who underwent changes in the histological subtype or degree of differentiation during disease surveillance. CONCLUSION This study indicated that Chinese IGCT patients may have distinct genetic characteristics and identified several possible genetic alterations that have the potential to become prognostic biomarkers of NGGCT patients.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence and outcomes of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Chinese patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) aged ≥75 years. Methods We identified STEMI patients aged ≥75 years between 2013 and 2014 from a multicenter registry. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality. The secondary outcome was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular event (MACCE) including a composite of all-cause mortality, cardiac death, recurrent MI, stroke, revascularization, and major bleeding. Hazard ratios (HR) and associated 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated. Results Approximately 32.9% (n = 999) patients received primary PCI. Primary PCI was associated with lower risks of two-year all-cause mortality (18.0% vs. 36.4%; adjusted HR: 0.54, 95% CI: 0.45 to 0.65, P < 0.0001), MACCE (28.7% vs. 43.5%; adjusted HR: 0.68, 95% CI: 0.59 to 0.80, P < 0.0001), and cardiac death (10.0% vs. 23.6%; adjusted HR: 0.49, 95% CI: 0.38 to 0.62, P < 0.0001) relative to no reperfusion (n = 2041) in patients aged ≥75 years. The better outcomes in two-year all-cause mortality, MACCE, and cardiac death were consistently observed in STEMI patients aged ≥85 years. No differences were observed in recurrent MI, stroke, revascularization, and major bleeding between the two groups. Additionally, in patients with relatively high-risk profiles such as cardiogenic shock or delaying hospital admission, primary PCI was also superior to no reperfusion. Conclusion Primary PCI may decrease two-year all-cause mortality, MACCE, and cardiac death in STEMI patients aged ≥75 years, even in these with age ≥85 years, cardiogenic shock, or delaying hospital admission. However, primary PCI was underutilized in Chinese clinical practice.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Solitary mixed squamous cell and glandular papilloma of the lung is an extremely rare benign neoplasm. We describe FDG PET/CT findings in a case of solitary mixed squamous cell and glandular papilloma of the lung with high serum carcinoembryonic antigen level (63.3 ng/mL; reference, <5 ng/mL). The tumor showed intense FDG uptake with SUVmax of 23.8 mimicking lung cancer.

Abstract
The incidence of chronic wound healing is promoted by the growing trend of elderly population, obesity, and type II diabetes. Although numerous wound dressings have been studied over the years, it is still challenging for many wound dressings to perfectly adapt to the healing process due to the dynamic and complicated wound microenvironment. Aiming at an optimal reproduction of the physiological environment, multifunctional electrospinning nanofibrous membranes (ENMs) have emerged as a promising platform for the wound treatment owing to their resemblance to extracellular matrix (ECM), adjustable preparation processes, porousness, and good conformability to the wound site. Moreover, profiting from the booming development of human-machine interaction and artificial intelligence, a next generation of intelligent electrospinning nanofibrous membranes (iENMs) based wound dressing substrates that could realize the real-time monitoring of wound proceeding and individual-based wound therapy has evoked a surge of interest. In this regard, general wound-related biomarkers and process are overviewed firstly and representative iENMs stimuli-responsive materials are briefly summarized. Subsequently, the emergent applications of iENMs for the wound healing are highlighted. Finally, the opportunities and challenges for the development of next-generation iENMs as well as translating iENMs into clinical practice are evaluated.

Abstract
PURPOSE Over the past several decades, numerous articles have been published on brainstem tumors. However, there has been limited bibliometric analysis in this field. Therefore, we conducted a bibliometric analysis to elucidate the evolution and current status of brainstem tumor research. METHODS We retrieved 5525 studies published in English between 1992 and 2023 from the Web of Science Core Collection database. We employed bibliometric tools and VOSviewer to conduct the analysis. RESULTS We included a total of 5525 publications for further analysis. The annual publications have exhibited steady growth over time. The United States accounted for the highest number of publications and total citations. Among individual researchers, Liwei Zhang had the highest number of publications, while Cynthia Hawkins and Chris Jones shared the most citations, closely followed by Eric Bouffet in this field. The study titled "Diffuse brainstem glioma in children: critical review of clinical trials" stood out as the most cited work in this field. Keyword analysis revealed that immune therapy and epigenetic research are the focal points of this field. CONCLUSIONS Our bibliometric analysis underscores the enduring significance of brainstem tumors in the realm of neuro-oncology research. The field's hotspots have transitioned from surgery and radiochemotherapy to investigating epigenetic mechanisms and immune therapy.

Abstract
Background Histones have been associated with human diseases. However, the implication of extranuclear histone proteins and their potential mechanism in the pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) have not been thoroughly investigated. This study was designed to evaluate the role of histones in patients with CRS by comparing histone expression between patients and controls. Methods Nasal polyp (NP) tissues were obtained, and their comprehensive gene expression profiles were investigated by microarray analysis. Differences in expression were verified by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical staining. Cell culture and flow cytometry were used to evaluate the role of histones in the pathogenesis of polyps. Results Significant differences in the microarray analysis were observed between the patient and control groups (P < 0.01). It was found by flow cytometry that the histone (H2BK) can promote cell apoptosis in NPs. Conclusion Our results indicate that reduced expression of H2BK may contribute to the imbalance process of cell proliferation and apoptosis in CRS with NP.
