Microreactor-Based TG-TEM Synchronous Analysis

It is challenging to measure the heating-induced mass change of the material during its morphological/structural evolution process. Herein, a silicon microreactor is developed for thermogravimetric-transmission electron microscopy synchronous analysis (TG-TEM synchronous analysis). A self-heating resonant microcantilever for mass-change detection and a dummy microcantilever with electron-beam transparent SiN_x windows for in situ TEM imaging are integrated back-to-back inside the microreactor. The TEM resolution of the microreactor reaches the Ångström level in an air atmosphere of 100 mbar, and the TGA function is realized by the heatable resonant microcantilever. The TG-TEM synchronous analysis has been successfully used to characterize two Ni(OH)₂ samples. During the in situ TEM observing process, the desorption of the intercalated H₂O molecules and dehydration of the lattice OH groups in the amorphous Ni(OH)₂·xH₂O nanosheets can be clearly distinguished from the microcantilever-based TGA. For single-crystal Ni(OH)₂ nanosheets, the TG-TEM synchronous analysis can distinguish the desorption of physiosorbed water, the condensation of surface OH groups, and the dehydration of lattice OH groups. The amorphous Ni(OH)₂ nanosheets transformed to polycrystalline NiO completed at 290 °C, and the decomposition from the single-crystalline Ni(OH)₂ nanoplates to NiO at 315 °C is also clearly recognized. The proposed microreactor-based TG-TEM synchronous analysis provides an interrelated characterization platform to obtain more comprehensive information on materials.

Development of Abiraterone Acetate Nanocrystal Tablets to Enhance Oral Bioavailability: Formulation Optimization, Characterization, In Vitro Dissolution and Pharmacokinetic Evaluation

Abiraterone acetate is a prodrug of abiraterone used in combination with prednisone as a standard therapeutic strategy for hormone-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Due to the poor solubility and permeability, the release and absorption of abiraterone acetate are low and reduce its bioavailability. In this project, abiraterone acetate tablets prepared using nanocrystal technology were developed to overcome the drawbacks of normal tablets by enhancing in vitro dissolution rate and oral bioavailability. The abiraterone acetate nanocrystal suspensions were prepared by top-down wet milling method using a planetary ball mill with the mixture of Poloxamer 407 and Poloxamer 188 as the optimized stabilizer at a ratio of 7:1. The optimized nanocrystals were freeze-dried and characterized using DLS, TEM, DSC, and XRD. The abiraterone acetate nanocrystal tablets significantly improve the in vitro dissolution rate of abiraterone acetate compared to raw materials. Although exhibiting a similar dissolution rate compared to the Zytiga^® tablets, the nanocrystal tablets significantly improve the oral bioavailability with C_max and AUC_0–t being 3.51-fold and 2.80-fold higher, respectively, in the pharmacokinetic study. The present data indicate that nanocrystal is a promising strategy for improving the dissolution and bioavailability of abiraterone acetate.

In Situ TEM Technique Revealing the Deactivation Mechanism of Bimetallic Pd-Ag Nanoparticles in Hydrogen Sensors

Bimetallic Pd-Ag alloy nanoparticles exhibit satisfactory H₂-sensing improvements and show application potential for H₂ sensor construction. However, the long-term stability of the H₂ sensor with Pd-Ag nanoparticles as the catalyst is found to dramatically decrease during operation. Herein, gas-cell in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is used to investigate the failure mechanisms of Pd-Ag nanoparticles under operation conditions. Based on the in situ TEM results, the Pd-Ag nanoparticles have two failure mechanisms: particles coalescence at 300 °C and phase segregation at 500 °C. Guided by the failure mechanisms, the H₂ sensor is comprehensively optimized based on the working temperature and the amount of Pd-Ag alloy nanoparticles. The optimized sensor exhibits satisfactory H₂-sensing properties, and the response decline of the sensor after 1 month is negligible. The revealing of the failure mechanisms with in situ TEM technology provides a valuable route for developing gas sensors with high long-term stability.

Area-Selective, In-Situ Growth of Pd-Modified ZnO Nanowires on MEMS Hydrogen Sensors

Nanomaterials are widely utilized as sensing materials in semiconductor gas sensors. As sensor sizes continue to shrink, it becomes increasingly challenging to construct micro-scale sensing materials on a micro-sensor with good uniformity and stability. Therefore, in-situ growth with a desired pattern in the tiny sensing area of a microsensor is highly demanded. In this work, we combine area-selective seed layer formation and hydrothermal growth for the in-situ growth of ZnO nanowires (NWs) on Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS)-based micro-hotplate gas sensors. The results show that the ZnO NWs are densely grown in the sensing area. With Pd nano-particles’ modification of the ZnO NWs, the sensor is used for hydrogen (H₂) detection. The sensors with Pd-ZnO NWs show good repeatability as well as a reversible and uniform response to 2.5 ppm–200 ppm H₂. Our approach offers a technical route for designing various kinds of gas sensors.

Risk assessment for acute kidney injury and death among new COVID-19 positive adult patients without chronic kidney disease: retrospective cohort study among three US hospitals

OBJECTIVE

To develop simple but clinically informative risk stratification tools using a few top demographic factors and biomarkers at COVID-19 diagnosis to predict acute kidney injury (AKI) and death.

DESIGN

Retrospective cohort analysis, follow-up from 1 February through 28 May 2020.

SETTING

3 teaching hospitals, 2 urban and 1 community-based in the Boston area.

PARTICIPANTS

Eligible patients were at least 18 years old, tested COVID-19 positive from 1 February through 28 May 2020, and had at least two serum creatinine measurements within 30 days of a new COVID-19 diagnosis. Exclusion criteria were having chronic kidney disease or having a previous AKI within 3 months of a new COVID-19 diagnosis.

MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES

Time from new COVID-19 diagnosis until AKI event, time until death event.

RESULTS

Among 3716 patients, there were 1855 (49.9%) males and the average age was 58.6 years (SD 19.2 years). Age, sex, white blood cell, haemoglobin, platelet, C reactive protein (CRP) and D-dimer levels were most strongly associated with AKI and/or death. We created risk scores using these variables predicting AKI within 3 days and death within 30 days of a new COVID-19 diagnosis. Area under the curve (AUC) for predicting AKI within 3 days was 0.785 (95% CI 0.758 to 0.813) and AUC for death within 30 days was 0.861 (95% CI 0.843 to 0.878). Haemoglobin was the most predictive component for AKI, and age the most predictive for death. Predictive accuracies using all study variables were similar to using the simplified scores.

CONCLUSION

Simple risk scores using age, sex, a complete blood cell count, CRP and D-dimer were highly predictive of AKI and death and can help simplify and better inform clinical decision making.

High attack rate in a Tong Lau house outbreak of COVID-19 with subdivided units in Hong Kong

Poor housing conditions are known to be associated with infectious diseases such as high Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) incidences. Transmission causes of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in poor housing conditions can be complex. An understanding of the exact mechanism of transmission can help to pinpoint contributing environmental issues. Here, we investigated a Hong Kong COVID-19 outbreak in early 2021 in four traditional Tong Lau houses with subdivided units. There are more than 80 subdivided units of less than 20 m² floor area each on average. With a total of 34 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the outbreak had an attack rate of 25.4%, being one of the highest attack rates observed in Hong Kong, and ranked among the highest attack rates in reported outbreaks internationally. Tracer gas leakage and decay measurements were performed in the drainage system and in the subdivided units to determine the transport of infectious aerosols by the owner-modified sophisticated wastewater drainage pipe networks and the poor ventilation conditions in some subdivided units. The results show that the outbreak was probably due to multiple transmission routes, i.e. by the drainage pipe spread of stack aerosols, which is enhanced by poor ventilation in the subdivided units.

Electrolyte Modulators toward Polarization-Mitigated Lithium-Ion Batteries for Sustainable Electric Transportation

Electric vehicles (EVs) are being adopted to replace combustion engine vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change; developing batteries with high energy efficiency and long lifespan, in the context of carbon footprint and cost, are essential to ensure the successful transition. Herein, an electrolyte modulator that can effectively mitigate the polarization of lithium-ion batteries, leading to dramatically improved energy efficiency and lifespan, is reported. Under a dynamic stress test that mimics the operations of EVs, commercial pouch cells with a low concentration of electrolyte modulator (0.2 wt% of the electrolyte) exhibit enhanced energy efficiency (87.5% vs 80.4% for the first 500 testing cycles) and prolonged lifespan (fourfold improvement based on 70% energy-output retention). This work provides a simple yet effective strategy toward sustainable electrification of vehicles.

Disruption of Hars2 in Cochlear Hair Cells Causes Progressive Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Hearing Loss in Mice

Mutations in a number of genes encoding mitochondrial aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases lead to non-syndromic and/or syndromic sensorineural hearing loss in humans, while their cellular and physiological pathology in cochlea has rarely been investigated in vivo. In this study, we showed that histidyl-tRNA synthetase HARS2, whose deficiency is associated with Perrault syndrome 2 (PRLTS2), is robustly expressed in postnatal mouse cochlea including the outer and inner hair cells. Targeted knockout of Hars2 in mouse hair cells resulted in delayed onset (P30), rapidly progressive hearing loss similar to the PRLTS2 hearing phenotype. Significant hair cell loss was observed starting from P45 following elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and activated mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. Despite of normal ribbon synapse formation, whole-cell patch clamp of the inner hair cells revealed reduced calcium influx and compromised sustained synaptic exocytosis prior to the hair cell loss at P30, consistent with the decreased supra-threshold wave I amplitudes of the auditory brainstem response. Starting from P14, increasing proportion of morphologically abnormal mitochondria was observed by transmission electron microscope, exhibiting swelling, deformation, loss of cristae and emergence of large intrinsic vacuoles that are associated with mitochondrial dysfunction. Though the mitochondrial abnormalities are more prominent in inner hair cells, it is the outer hair cells suffering more severe cell loss. Taken together, our results suggest that conditional knockout of Hars2 in mouse cochlear hair cells leads to accumulating mitochondrial dysfunction and ROS stress, triggers progressive hearing loss highlighted by hair cell synaptopathy and apoptosis, and is differentially perceived by inner and outer hair cells.

Long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids affect the survival and prognosis of patients with esophageal adenocarcinoma through the autophagy pathway: construction of a prognostic model

Autophagy-related long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids play a vital role in the development of esophageal adenocarcinoma. This study aimed to construct a prognostic model of autophagy-related long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids and identify potential therapeutical targets for esophageal adenocarcinoma. We downloaded 261 long-chain noncoding RNA transcript samples and clinical data of 87 esophageal adenocarcinoma patients from the Cancer Genome Atlas and 307 autophagy-related genes from www.autophagy.com. We performed Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and Gene Ontology enrichment analyses and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis to determine risk characteristics and bioinformatics functions of signal transduction pathways. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to determine the correlation between autophagy-related long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids and independent risk factors. The receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate the feasibility of the prognostic model. Finally, we performed survival analysis, risk analysis and independent prognostic analysis to verify the prognostic model of esophageal adenocarcinoma. We identified 22 autophagic long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids that were highly correlated with the overall survival of esophageal adenocarcinoma patients. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (0.941) and the calibration curve were significantly similar. Moreover, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses indicated that autophagy-related long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids were independent predictors of esophageal adenocarcinoma. We found that autophagy-related long-chain noncoding ribonucleic acids might affect tumor development and prognosis in esophageal adenocarcinoma patients. The findings indicate that the prognostic model of esophageal adenocarcinoma has potential therapeutic applications in patients with esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Palladium-Catalyzed Tandem Hydrocarbonylative Lactamization and Cycloaddition Reaction for the Construction of Bridged Polycyclic Lactams

The intramolecular hydroaminocarbonylation of alkenes is a compelling tool to rapidly access lactam, a privileged motif ubiquitous in natural products, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. However, selective carbonylation to bridged polycyclic lactams with a lactam nitrogen at a bridgehead position is less explored. We herein report a modular palladium-catalyzed approach to perform a tandem hydrocarbonylative lactamization/Diels-Alder cycloaddition reaction with 2-vinyl aryl aldimines, alkenes, and CO, which offers convenient access to furnish the bridged polycyclic lactams in high yields with high selectivities.

Environmental risk assessment by using disability adjusted life year via constructing of a generalized linear model for morbidity estimation of waterborne pathogens

The Environmental burden of disease (EBD) quantitatively evaluates the health impacts of pathogens by using the disability-adjusted life year (DALY) method. The life loss due to morbidity is a general expression for the EBD outcome and, thus, morbidity analysis is indispensable. Considering the deficiency of previous morbidity analysis methods, the objective of this study was to construct a linear morbidity model by using a generalized linear model (GLM) as a template and introducing exposure dose, pathogen toxicity and human immunity as impact variables. Human experimental data were collected for model fitting, and the results indicated a good fit of the majority of the pathogen data. Consequently, two practical cases of water reuse in Xi'an Siyuan University (Case 1) and Lake Cui, Kunming (Case 2) were selected for model validation. Results for case 1 indicated the major EBD to be attributed to rotaviruses (5.57 × 10^-7 DALYs, 95% confidence interval (CI): 4.46 × 10^-7-1.72 × 10^-4 DALYs) and sprinkling irrigation (5.12 × 10^-7 DALYs, 95% CI: 1.95 × 10^-7-1.47 × 10¹ DALYs). Conversely, that for case 2 is mainly attributed to noroviruses (1.42 × 10^-7 DALYs, 95% CI: 7.51 × 10^-11-2.67 × 10^-4 DALYs) and road flushing (1.62 × 10^-7 DALYs, 95% CI: 1.16 × 10^-7-2.67 × 10^-4 DALYs). However, comparison with the suggested threshold of 10^-6 DALYs indicated the EBDs for both cases are acceptable and, thus, water reuse is confirmed to be safe. The methodology for morbidity modelling proposed in this research can effectively compensate for missing data in DALY calculation and, thereby, help to optimize the process for EBD evaluation.

Efficient knowledge distillation for liver CT segmentation using growing assistant network

Segmentation has been widely used in diagnosis, lesion detection, and surgery planning. Although deep learning (DL)-based segmentation methods currently outperform traditional methods, most DL-based segmentation models are computationally expensive and memory inefficient, which are not suitable for the intervention of liver surgery. To address this issue, a simple solution is to make a segmentation model very small for the fast inference time, however, there is a trade-off between the model size and performance. In this paper, we propose a DL-based real-time 3-D liver CT segmentation method, where knowledge distillation (KD) method, known as knowledge transfer from teacher to student models, is incorporated to compress the model while preserving the performance. Because it is well known that the knowledge transfer is inefficient when the disparity of teacher and student model sizes is large, we propose a growing teacher assistant network (GTAN) to gradually learn the knowledge without extra computational cost, which can efficiently transfer knowledge even with the large gap of teacher and student model sizes. In our results, dice similarity coefficient of the student model with KD improved 1.2% (85.9% to 87.1%) compared to the student model without KD, which is a similar performance of the teacher model using only 8% (100k) parameters. Furthermore, with a student model of 2% (30k) parameters, the proposed model using the GTAN improved the dice coefficient about 2% compared to the student model without KD, and the inference time is 13 ms per a 3-D image. Therefore, the proposed method has a great potential for intervention in liver surgery as well as in many real-time applications.

Atorvastatin restores imbalance of cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4)+ T cells in immune thrombocytopenia in vivo and in vitro

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune haemorrhagic disease, in which the overactivation of T cells is crucial in the pathogenesis. Atorvastatin (AT), a lipid-lowering medicine, has shown promising immunomodulatory effects in certain inflammatory conditions. However, the immunoregulatory role of AT in ITP remains elusive. To investigate the effect of AT in the treatment of ITP, cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4)⁺ T cells were isolated from patients with ITP and cultured with different dosages of AT. We found that AT significantly inhibited cell proliferation, led to cell cycle arrest, induced apoptosis, and repressed the activation of CD4⁺ T cells in vitro. ITP murine models were then established, and results showed that AT treatment led to faster recovery of the platelet count to normal and exhibited comparable immunomodulatory function. Furthermore, we found the phosphorylation of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), protein kinase B (AKT) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), as well as activation of rat sarcoma virus (RAS) were all reduced dramatically after AT treatment in vitro. In conclusion, our present study demonstrated that AT could reinstate the functions of CD4⁺ T cells by inhibiting the excessive activation, proliferation, and survival of CD4⁺ T cells in ITP via the RAS/mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK)/ERK and the mTOR/phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway. Therefore, we propose that AT could be used as a potential therapeutic option for ITP by restoring the over-activated cellular immunity.

Zingerone suppresses proliferation, invasion, and migration of hepatocellular carcinoma cells by the inhibition of MTDH-mediated PI3K/Akt pathway

PURPOSE

Previous studies have proved that zingerone was a therapeutic agent for many tumors. Metadherin (MTDH) acts as an oncogene and is involved in tumorigenesis. The purpose of this study was to explore the underlying mechanism of zingerone that regulates MTDH to affect hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression.

METHODS

CCK-8 assay was performed to detect HCC cell proliferation. The invasion and migration abilities of HCC cells were evaluated using Transwell assay. The mRNA and protein levels in cells and tissues were measured using qRT-PCR and Western blot assays. Moreover, we established the HCC xenografts nude mice to evaluate the effect of zingerone on tumor growth.

RESULTS

We found that zingerone treatment significantly inhibited HCC cell malignant phenotype and tumor growth. Moreover, MTDH was highly expressed in HCC tissues and cell lines and was positively associated with poor overall survival of patients with HCC. Knockdown of MTDH notably suppressed the proliferation, invasion, and migration capacities of HCC cells. Mechanistically, inhibition of MTDH by zingerone impeded the malignant biological behavior of HCC cells by inactivating the PI3K/Akt pathway.

CONCLUSION

These results suggested that zingerone served as an effective therapeutic agent in HCC via blocking the MTDH-mediated PI3K/Akt pathway.

Self-Hybrid Transition Metal Oxide Nanosheets Synthesized by a Facile Programmable and Scalable Carbonate-Template Method

2D transition metal oxides (TMO) nanosheets have attracted considerable attention in both fundamental research and practical applications. Herein, a convenient programmable and scalable carbonate crystals templating synthesis is developed to produce high-quality self-hybrid TMO nanosheets (Si-WO_{3- x} , Ta_x O_y , Mn_x O_y ) and their respective polymetallic oxide hybrid nanosheets with tunable composition, low-cost and high-yield. Taking tungsten oxide nanosheets as example, silicotungstic acid precursor is in situ converted into tungsten oxide nanosheets like scales on the surface of calcium carbonate crystals through the simple soaking-drying-calcination process, and after selectively dissolving calcium carbonate by etching, the dispersive tungsten oxide nanosheets with unique self-hybrid Si-doped h-WO₃ /ε-WO₃ /WO₂ compositions are obtained, which show excellent acetone gas-sensing performances at low temperatures. This carbonate-template method opens up the possibility to economically produce various functional TMO nanosheets with specific compositions for diverse applications.

Low-dose decitabine modulates T-cell homeostasis and restores immune tolerance in immune thrombocytopenia

Our previous clinical study showed that low-dose decitabine exhibited sustained responses in nearly half of patients with refractory immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). The long-term efficacy of decitabine in ITP is not likely due to its simple role in increasing platelet production. Whether decitabine has the potential to restore immune tolerance in ITP is unknown. In this study, we analyzed the effect of decitabine on T-cell subpopulations in ITP in vitro and in vivo. We found that low-dose decitabine promoted the generation and differentiation of regulatory T (Treg) cells and augmented their immunosuppressive function. Splenocytes from CD61 knockout mice immunized with CD61+ platelets were transferred into severe combined immunodeficient mouse recipients to induce a murine model of ITP. Low-dose decitabine alleviated thrombocytopenia and restored the balance between Treg and helper T (Th) cells in active ITP mice. Treg deletion and depletion offset the effect of decitabine in restoring CD4+ T-cell subpopulations in ITP mice. For patients who received low-dose decitabine, the quantity and function of Treg cells were substantially improved, whereas Th1 and Th17 cells were suppressed compared with the pretreatment levels. Next-generation RNA-sequencing and cytokine analysis showed that low-dose decitabine rebalanced T-cell homeostasis, decreased proinflammatory cytokines, and downregulated phosphorylated STAT3 in patients with ITP. STAT3 inhibition analysis suggested that low-dose decitabine might restore Treg cells by inhibiting STAT3 activation. In conclusion, our data indicate that the immunomodulatory effect of decitabine provides one possible mechanistic explanation for the sustained response achieved by low-dose decitabine in ITP.

Predicting the Formability of Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Perovskites via an Interpretable Machine Learning Strategy

Predicting the formability of perovskite structure for hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) is a prominent challenge in the search for the required materials from a huge search space. Here, we propose an interpretable strategy combining machine learning with a shapley additive explanations (SHAP) approach to accelerate the discovery of potential HOIPs. According to the prediction of the best classification model, top-198 nontoxic candidates with a probability of formability (P_f) of >0.99 are screened from 18560 virtual samples. The SHAP analysis reveals that the radius and lattice constant of the B site (r_B and LC_B) are positively related to formability, while the ionic radius of the A site (r_A), the tolerant factor (t), and the first ionization energy of the B site (I_1B) have negative relations. The significant finding is that stricter ranges of t (0.84-1.12) and improved tolerant factor τ (critical value of 6.20) do exist for HOIPs, which are different from inorganic perovskites, providing a simple and fast assessment in the design of materials with an HOIP structure.

MSF-Net: Multi-Scale Feature Learning Network for Classification of Surface Defects of Multifarious Sizes

In the field of surface defect detection, the scale difference of product surface defects is often huge. The existing defect detection methods based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are more inclined to express macro and abstract features, and the ability to express local and small defects is insufficient, resulting in an imbalance of feature expression capabilities. In this paper, a Multi-Scale Feature Learning Network (MSF-Net) based on Dual Module Feature (DMF) extractor is proposed. DMF extractor is mainly composed of optimized Concatenated Rectified Linear Units (CReLUs) and optimized Inception feature extraction modules, which increases the diversity of feature receptive fields while reducing the amount of calculation; the feature maps of the middle layer with different sizes of receptive fields are merged to increase the richness of the receptive fields of the last layer of feature maps; the residual shortcut connections, batch normalization layer and average pooling layer are used to replace the fully connected layer to improve training efficiency, and make the multi-scale feature learning ability more balanced at the same time. Two representative multi-scale defect data sets are used for experiments, and the experimental results verify the advancement and effectiveness of the proposed MSF-Net in the detection of surface defects with multi-scale features.

Histatin 1 enhanced the speed and quality of wound healing through regulating the behaviour of fibroblast

Objectives

Histatin 1(Hst 1) has been proved to promote wound healing. However, there was no specific study on the regulation made by Hst 1 of fibroblasts in the process of wound healing. This research comprehensively studied the regulation of Hst 1 on the function of fibroblasts in the process of wound healing and preliminary mechanism about it.

Materials and methods

The full‐thickness skin wound model was made on the back of C57/BL6 mice. The wound healing, collagen deposition and fibroblast distribution were detected on days 3, 5 and 7 after injury. Fibroblast was cultured in vitro and stimulated with Hst 1, and then, their biological characteristics and functions were detected.

Results

Histatin 1 can effectively promote wound healing, improve collagen deposition during and after healing and increase the number and function of fibroblasts. After healing, the mechanical properties of the skin also improved. In vitro, the migration ability of fibroblasts stimulated by Hst 1 was significantly improved, and the fibroblasts transformed more into myofibroblasts, which improved the function of contraction and collagen secretion. In fibroblasts, mTOR signalling pathway can be activated by Hst 1.

Conclusions

Histatin 1 can accelerate wound healing and improve the mechanical properties of healed skin by promoting the function of fibroblasts. The intermolecular mechanisms need to be further studied, and this study provides a direction about mTOR signalling pathway.
