Abstract
The temperature setting for a decomposition furnace is of great importance for maintaining the normal operation of the furnace and other equipment in a cement plant and ensuring the output of high-quality cement products. Based on the principles of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), long short-term memory networks (LSTMs), and attention mechanisms, we propose a CNN-LSTM-A model to optimize the temperature settings for a decomposition furnace. The proposed model combines the features selected by Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (Lasso) with others suggested by domain experts as inputs, and uses CNN to mine spatial features, LSTM to extract time series information, and an attention mechanism to optimize weights. We deploy sensors to collect production measurements at a real-life cement factory for experimentation and investigate the impact of hyperparameter changes on the performance of the proposed model. Experimental results show that CNN-LSTM-A achieves a superior performance in terms of prediction accuracy over existing models such as the basic LSTM model, deep-convolution-based LSTM model, and attention-mechanism-based LSTM model. The proposed model has potentials for wide deployment in cement plants to automate and optimize the operation of decomposition furnaces.

Abstract
PURPOSE Using the printed-word paradigm with eye tracking, this study conducted three experiments to examine (a) how multiple words in spoken overlapping ambiguity strings (OASs) are activated, (b) how word frequency influences the word segmentation of spoken OASs, and (c) whether the multiple words in spoken OASs are activated competitively or independently. METHOD In this study, participants listened to a four-character spoken OAS (ABCD) and were presented with a visual display composed of a semantic associate of the "middle word" (BC; Experiments 1 and 2) or the "left word" (AB; Experiment 3) and two distractors. In Experiment 1, the word frequency of the middle words was manipulated to be higher than that of the neighbor words. In Experiment 2, the word frequency of the middle words was manipulated to be either higher or lower than that of the neighbor words. In Experiment 3, participants listened to either spoken OASs (ABCD) or spoken unambiguous strings (ABEF). RESULTS In Experiment 1, we observed a significant semantic competition effect; that is, more fixations fell on the semantic competitors than on distractors, suggesting that the semantic information of the middle words in the spoken OASs was activated. In Experiment 2, the semantic competition effect was only observed in the high-frequency condition and was absent in the low-frequency condition. In Experiment 3, the results showed significant semantic competition effects for the left words under both conditions, and the observed effect was similar between the ambiguity condition and the control condition. CONCLUSIONS These findings show that multiple words in spoken OASs are all activated and the activation level is modulated by word frequency. In addition, multiple words in the spoken OASs may be processed independently during spoken comprehension.

Abstract
To enhance the capability of phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometers (Φ-OTDR) to recognize disturbance events, an improved adaptive feature extraction method based on NMF-MFCC is proposed, which replaces the fixed filter bank used in the traditional method to extract the mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) features by a spectral structure obtained from the Φ-OTDR signal spectrum using nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF). Three typical events on fences are set as recognition targets in our experiments, and the results show that the NMF-MFCC features have higher distinguishability, with the corresponding recognition accuracy reaching 98.47%, which is 7% higher than that using the traditional MFCC features.

Abstract
Amino acids along the conformational motion pathway of the enzyme molecule correlated to its flexibility and rigidity. To enhance the enzyme activity and thermal stability, the motion pathway of Geobacillus stearothermophilus α-amylase has been identified and molecularly modified by using the neural relational inference model and deep learning tool. The significant differences in substrate specificity, enzymatic kinetics, optimal temperature, and thermal stability were observed among the mutants with modified amino acids along the pathway. Mutants especially the P44E demonstrated enhanced hydrolytic activity and catalytic efficiency (kcat/KM) than the wild-type enzyme to 95.0% and 93.8% respectively, with the optimum temperature increased to 90°C. This mutation from proline to glutamic acid has increased the number and the radius of the bottleneck of the channels, which might facilitate transporting large starch substrates into the enzyme. The mutation could also optimize the hydrogen bonding network of the catalytic center, and diminish the spatial hindering to the substrate entry and exit from the catalytic center.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most threatening tumors in the world, and chemotherapy remains dominant in the treatment of metastatic CRC (mCRC) patients. The purpose of this study was to develop a biomarker panel to predict the response of the first line chemotherapy in mCRC patients. METHODS Totally 190 mCRC patients treated with FOLFOX or XEOLX chemotherapy in 3 different institutions were included. We extracted the plasma extracellular vesicle (EV) RNA, performed RNA sequencing, constructed a model and generated a signature through shrinking the number of variables by the random forest algorithm and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm in the training cohort (n = 80). We validated it in an internal validation cohort (n = 62) and a prospective external validation cohort (n = 48). RESULTS We established a signature consisted of 22 EV RNAs which could identify responders, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) values was 0.986, 0.821, and 0.816 in the training, internal validation, and external validation cohort respectively. The signature could also identify the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Besides, we constructed a 7-gene signature which could predict tumor response to first-line oxaliplatin-containing chemotherapy and simultaneously resistance to second-line irinotecan-containing chemotherapy. CONCLUSIONS The study was first to develop a signature of EV-derived RNAs to predict the response of the first line chemotherapy in mCRC with high accuracy using a non-invasive approach, indicating that the signature could help to select the optimal regimen for mCRC patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To quantify the agreement between functional assessments by a single rater and a team using the Chinese version of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Rehabilitation Set in a clinical situation. DESIGN Inter-rater, multi-centre agreement study. SUBJECTS A total of 193 adult inpatients admitted to 5 rehabilitation centres at 5 hospitals in China Methods: The Chinese version of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Rehabilitation Set was used by either a single rater or a team to assess 193 patients at 5 Chinese hospitals. Percentage of agreement and quadratic-weighted kappa coefficients were computed. Evaluation times were compared with paired t-tests. RESULTS The mean team and individual evaluation times were not significantly different. The percentage of agreement ranged from 46.1% to 94.2% depending on the item, and the quadratic-weighted kappas ranged from 0.43 to 0.92. Eight categories (26.6%) showed a weighted kappa exceeding 0.4, 11 others (36.7%) exceeded 0.6, and another 11 (36.7%) produced kappas of more than 0.8. CONCLUSION Either a single rater or a team of raters can produce valid and consistent ratings when using the Chinese version of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Rehabilitation Set to assess patients in a rehabilitation department. The team rating approach is suitable for clinical application.

Abstract
Yearly epidemics of seasonal influenza cause an enormous disease burden around the globe. An understanding of the rules behind the immune response with repeated vaccination still presents a significant challenge, which would be helpful for optimizing the vaccination strategy. In this study, 34 healthy volunteers with 16 vaccinated were recruited, and the dynamics of the BCR repertoire for consecutive vaccinations in two seasons were tracked. In terms of diversity, length, network, V and J gene segments usage, somatic hypermutation (SHM) rate and isotype, it was found that the overall changes were stronger in the acute phase of the first vaccination than the second vaccination. However, the V gene segments of IGHV4-39, IGHV3-9, IGHV3-7 and IGHV1-69 were amplified in the acute phase of the first vaccination, with IGHV3-7 dominant. On the other hand, for the second vaccination, the changes were dominated by IGHV1-69, with potential for coding broad neutralizing antibody. Additional analysis indicates that the application of V gene segment for IGHV3-7 in the acute phase of the first vaccination was due to the elevated usage of isotypes IgM and IgG3. While for IGHV1-69 in the second vaccination, it was contributed by isotypes IgG1 and IgG2. Finally, 41 public BCR clusters were identified in the vaccine group, with both IGHV3-7 and IGHV1-69 were involved and representative complementarity determining region 3 (CDR3) motifs were characterized. This study provides insights into the immune response dynamics following repeated influenza vaccination in humans and can inform universal vaccine design and vaccine strategies in the future.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to investigate the early effects of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) agents on the cornea and visual acuity in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR). METHODS This retrospective study enrolled patients who were administered conbercept or ranibizumab to treat DR. Fundus photograph, fluorescein angiograph, and optical coherence tomography were preoperatively performed. The patients were classified into two groups: nonproliferative DR (NPDR) and PDR. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), specular microscopy, central corneal thickness (CCT), and intraocular pressure were obtained before injection and at 1 day and 7 days after injection. The effects of anti-VEGF agents on BCVA and CCT were compared between the groups receiving conbercept and ranibizumab and between NPDR and PDR eyes. RESULTS A total 38 eyes (30 patients) were enrolled in this study. Twenty-one eyes received conbercept, and 17 eyes received ranibizumab. Twenty eyes were classified as NPDR and 18 eyes as PDR. No significant differences were found between the groups receiving conbercept and ranibizumab in the increase in BCVA nor in the increase of CCT at 1 day and 7 days after injection. As compared with NPDR eyes, PDR eyes demonstrated a significantly greater increase in CCT (-5.3 ± 3.7 vs. 6.5 ± 2.9 μm, P = 0.02 < 0.05) but not in BCVA (P = 0.33) at 1 day after injection. At 7 days after injection, no significant differences were found in the increase in BCVA nor in the increase of CCT between NPDR eyes and PDR eyes. CONCLUSION Intravitreal administration of anti-VEGF agents could cause a small but significant greater increase in CCT in PDR than in NPDR eyes in the early period. In patients with DR, no significant difference was found between conbercept and ranibizumab in the early effects on the visual acuity nor in the cornea.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Y chromosome material stands as an independent risk determinant for the onset of gonadoblastoma (GB) and subsequent gonadal germ cell tumours in individuals with Turner syndrome (TS). However, the delayed and underestimated identification of Y chromosome material through karyotyping within primary care settings exacerbates the intricacies of managing these patients over the long term. METHODS We present a case involving TS accompanied by Y chromosome material, wherein puberty delay and GB were identified during prophylactic gonadectomy. Subsequently, we delve into the literature to explore the GB-related malignancy risk in TS patients with Y chromosome material, the incidence of Y chromosome presence in TS patients using methodologies beyond routine chromosomal testing, and the diagnosis and treatment of puberty delay in TS patients, all based on our case. RESULTS A spectrum of more sensitive molecular techniques, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and fluorescence in situ hybridisation, effectively augments the detection of Y chromosome material alongside karyotyping. In addition to gonadectomy, the implementation of appropriate oestrogen therapy and a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to care can enhance the quality of life, while mitigating the long-term morbidity and mortality risks for TS patients harbouring Y chromosome material. CONCLUSIONS Beyond gonadectomy, adopting a multifaceted approach the Y chromosome material detection, prompt initiation of puberty, tailored oestrogen therapy, and coordinated multidisciplinary management significantly contributes to the comprehensive health oversight of TS patients with Y chromosome material.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of soybean, medium-chain triacylglycerols (MCTs), olive oil, and fish oil (SMOF) on short-term clinical outcomes, physical growth, and extrauterine growth retardation (EUGR) in very preterm infants. METHODS This was a multicenter retrospective cohort study of very preterm infants hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units at five tertiary hospitals in China between January 2021 and December 2021. According to the type of fat emulsion used in parenteral nutrition (PN), eligible very preterm infants were divided into the MCTs/long-chain triacylglycerol (MCT/LCT) group and SMOF group. Change in weight z-score (weight Δz) between measurements at birth and at 36 wk of postmenstrual age or at discharge, the incidence of EUGR, and short-term clinical outcomes between the two groups were compared and analyzed. RESULTS We enrolled 409 very preterm infants, including 205 in the MCT/LCT group and 204 in the SMOF group. Univariate analysis showed that infants in the SMOF group had significantly longer duration of invasive mechanical ventilation and PN, longer days to reach total enteral nutrition, and a higher proportion of maximum weight loss than those in MCT/LCT group (all P < 0.05). After adjusting for the confounding variables, multifactorial logistic regression analysis of short-term clinical outcomes showed that SMOF had protective effects on PN-associated cholestasis (odds ratio [OR], 0.470; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.266-0.831) and metabolic bone disease of prematurity (OR, 0.263; 95% CI, 0.078-0.880). Additionally, SMOF was an independent risk factor for lower weight growth velocity (β = -0.733; 95% CI, -1.452 to -0.015) but had no effect on the incidence of EUGR (OR, 1.567; 95% CI, 0.912 to -2.693). CONCLUSION Compared with MCT/LCT, SMOF can reduce the risk for PN-associated cholestasis and metabolic bone disease of prematurity in very preterm infants and has a negative effect on growth velocity but has no effect on the incidence of EUGR.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Antibiotic treatments are known to disturb gut microbiota, but their effects on the mucosal barrier and extraintestinal diseases are rarely discussed. The aim of this study was to evaluate and visualize the impact of antibiotics on colonic mucus and the microbial community, and to assess whether intestinal dysbacteriosis is involved in the pathogenesis and progression of extraintestinal diseases in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-one SD rats were randomly assigned into three groups followed by different experimental treatments. The albumin-creatinine ratio, urinary protein and occult blood semi-quantified test were tested. Fecal samples were collected at different time points (0,4, and 12 weeks) for 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Colon and kidney specimens were examined using light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to identify morphological changes. RESULTS Ceftriaxone intervention for one week did not cause any symptoms of diarrhea or weight loss, but the alpha and beta diversities of gut microbiota decreased quickly and significantly, a lower Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio was observed. At week 12, although the alpha and beta diversities increased to a level similar to that of the control (CON) group, LEfSe analysis indicated that the microbial community composition still differed significantly in each group. In addition, KEGG metabolic prediction revealed different metabolic functions in each group. TEM examination of colon revealed that dramatic morphological changes were observed in the ceftriaxone (Cef) group, wherein microvilli were misaligned and shortened significantly and morphologically intact bacteria were seen on the epithelial cell surface. TEM examination of kidneys from the Cef group showed characteristic glomerular changes in the form of widely irregularly thickened glomerular basement membrane (GBM) and foot process fusion or effacement; mild thickening of the GBM and foot process fusion was detected when ceftriaxone and Resatorvid (TAK242, an inhibitor of TLR4 signaling) are used together in the ceftriaxone + TAK242 (TAK) group. CONCLUSIONS Short-term use of ceftriaxone induced dynamic changes of gut microbiota and lead to intestinal barrier disruption and ultrastructural changes of kidneys in the SD rats. Moreover, interference with the TLR4-dependent signaling pathway can alleviate the damage to the intestinal barrier and kidney.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to build radiomic feature-based machine learning models to predict pathological clinical response (pCR) of neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (nCRT) for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients. METHODS A total of 112 ESCC patients who underwent nCRT followed by surgical treatment from January 2008 to December 2018 were recruited. According to pCR status (no visible cancer cells in primary cancer lesion), patients were categorized into primary cancer lesion pCR (ppCR) group (N = 65) and non-ppCR group (N = 47). Patients were also categorized into total pCR (tpCR) group (N = 48) and non-tpCR group (N = 64) according to tpCR status (no visible cancer cells in primary cancer lesion or lymph nodes). Radiomic features of pretreatment CT images were extracted, feature selection was performed, machine learning models were trained to predict ppCR and tpCR, respectively. RESULTS A total of 620 radiomic features were extracted. For ppCR prediction models, radiomic model had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.817 (95% CI: 0.732-0.896) in the testing set; and the combination model that included rad-score and clinical features had a great predicting performance, with an AUC of 0.891 (95% CI: 0.823-0.950) in the testing set. For tpCR prediction models, radiomic model had an AUC of 0.713 (95% CI: 0.613-0.808) in the testing set; and the combination model also had a great predicting performance, with an AUC of 0.814 (95% CI: 0.728-0.881) in the testing set. CONCLUSION This study built machine learning models for predicting ppCR and tpCR of ESCC patients with favorable predicting performance respectively, which aided treatment plan optimization. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT This study significantly improved the predictive value of machine learning models based on radiomic features to accurately predict response to therapy of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients after neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy, providing guidance for further treatment. KEY POINTS • Combination model that included rad-score and clinical features had a great predicting performance. • Primary tumor pCR predicting models exhibit better predicting performance compared to corresponding total pCR predicting models.

Abstract
Understanding the mechanisms behind porcine primordial germ cell like cells (pPGCLCs) development, differentiation, and gametogenesis is crucial in the treatment of infertility. In this study, SOX9+ skin derived stem cells (SOX9+ SDSCs) were isolated from fetal porcine skin and a high-purity SOX9+ SDSCs population was obtained. The SOX9+ SDSCs were induced to transdifferentiate into PGCLCs during 8 days of cultured. The results of RNA-seq, western blot and immunofluorescence staining verified SDSCs have the potential to transdifferentiate into PGCLCs from aspects of transcription factor activation, germ layer differentiation, energy metabolism, and epigenetic changes. Both adherent and suspended cells were collected. The adherent cells were found to be very similar to early porcine primordial germ cells (pPGCs). The suspended cells resembled late stage pPGCs and had a potential to enter meiotic process. This SDSCs culture-induced in vitro model is expected to provide suitable donor cells for stem cell transplantation in the future.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The association between mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and infection in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has not been clarified. This study evaluated the degree and factors in effect of MMF use on infection in patients with SLE. METHODS A hospitalized-based observational study was conducted to collect medical records on patients with SLE during 2010-2021. A nested case-control study was performed among 3339 patients with SLE, including 1577 cases and 1762 controls by whether they developed any type of infection. The exposure of MMF use was determined within 1 year before diagnosed infection or the end of follow-up. Logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for association between MMF and subsequent infection. RESULTS MMF was significantly associated with the risk of overall infection (adjusted OR 1.90, 95% CI 1.48-2.44) and different types of infections, including bacterial infection (adjusted OR 2.07, 95% CI 1.55-2.75), viral infection (adjusted OR 1.92, 95% CI 1.23-3.01), and opportunistic infection (adjusted OR 2.13, 95% CI 1.31-3.46). The top three risks of specific types of infections were bacteremia/septicemia, urinary tract infection/pyelonephritis, and herpes zoster. Stratification analysis showed risk of overall infection increased especially in MMF users with age over 55 years, diabetes, central nervous system involvement, and thrombocytopenia. Moreover, the risk of infection increased with increasing dosage and duration of MMF use. Additionally, the combination of MMF with CYC and other immunosuppressants significantly increases the risk of infections compared to using a single one. CONCLUSIONS MMF use is associated with various type of infections in patients with SLE, particularly in those with longer use, older age, complications with comorbidities, and concomitant use of CYC or other immunosuppressants.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Tension-type headache (TTH) is the most prevalent headache disorder worldwide. Although current treatments for TTH are beneficial, they are not without adverse effects. Chaixiong Qiwei granule (CXQW) is an experienced prescription medicine for TTH management. This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of CXQW for the treatment of TTH. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This study will be a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. A total of 148 eligible participants will be divided into the intervention (CXQW treatment) and control (placebo treatment) groups. The primary outcome will be the reduction in the number of headache days (headache-days reduction) within 9-12 weeks after randomisation, while secondary outcomes will include the number of headache days, headache intensity, responder rate, drug consumption for acute treatment, quality of life and symptoms related to traditional Chinese medicine use based on a symptom-observation table. This protocol describes the design of the randomised controlled trial. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The study design was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Human Research at Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (No. 2020XLA030-2). Abstract
It is a promising pathway to use anions to regulate electronic structures, reasonably design and construct highly efficient catalysts for water splitting. Herein, a N-regulated Co cluster catalyst confined in carbon nanotubes, N-Co NCNTs, was constructed successfully. Nitrogen anions played a crucial role in optimizing the electronic structures of Co clusters and enhancing localization of electrons, resulting in polarized cobalt clusters. The N-induced electronic localization and the resulting polarized Co clusters are responsible for the improvement of catalytic activity. N-Co NCNTs exhibited ultra-low overpotentials of 178 mV and 92 mV for the OER and HER to achieve 10 mA cm-2 in an alkaline electrolyte, respectively. Its long-term catalytic durability is mainly attributed to the obstacle to the surface oxidation of Co clusters caused by N-regulation. N-Co NCNTs maintained a stable current density for 160 h at 10 mA cm-2. DFT computations confirmed the decisive role played by nitrogen anions in regulating the electronic structure. This work provides a pathway for understanding and designing highly efficient anion-regulated catalysts.

Abstract
Limonene and its derivative perillic acid are widely used in food, cosmetics, health products, medicine and other industries as important bioactive natural products. However, inefficient plant extraction and high energy-consuming chemical synthesis hamper the industrial production of limonene and perillic acid. In this study, limonene synthase from Mentha spicata was expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae by peroxisome compartmentalization, and the yield of limonene was 0.038 mg/L. The genes involved in limonene synthesis, ERG10, ERG13, tHMGR, ERG12, ERG8, IDI1, MVD1, ERG20ww and tLS, were step-wise expressed via modular engineering to study their effects on limonene yield. The yield of limonene increased to 1.14 mg/L by increasing the precursor module. Using the plasmid with high copy number to express the above key genes, the yield of limonene significantly increased up to 86.74 mg/L, which was 4 337 times higher than that of the original strain. Using the limonene-producing strain as the starting strain, the production of perillic acid was successfully achieved by expressing cytochrome P450 enzyme gene from Salvia miltiorrhiza, and the yield reached 4.42 mg/L. The results may facilitate the construction of cell factory with high yield of monoterpene products by S. cerevisiae.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The study aims to investigate the impact of gene polymorphisms on blood hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) concentrations in patients with SLE and provide guidelines for individualised care. METHODS 489 Chinese patients with SLE taking HCQ for more than 3 months were collected in this study. The blood HCQ, desethylhydroxychloroquine (DHCQ) and desethylchloroquine concentrations were measured. The optimal blood concentration of HCQ was determined by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Single nucleotide polymorphisms of metabolic enzymes involved in HCQ metabolism were genotyped and the associations with treatment effects were investigated. RESULTS The cut-off value of HCQ was 559.67 ng/mL, with sensitivity and specificity values of 0.51 and 0.89, respectively. The TC and CC genotypes of CYP2C8 (rs7910936) were significantly related to the increase in blood HCQ concentrations, and the CYP2C8 (rs10882521) TT genotype was associated with lower blood HCQ concentrations. The DHCQ:HCQ ratio was highest in patients with the GG genotype of the CYP2D6*10 (rs1065852) polymorphism and lowest in those with the AA genotype. Patients with the CYP2C8 (rs7910936) CC genotype were more likely to achieve the optimal blood concentration (p=0.030) in HCQ 200 mg/day group and patients with the CYP2D6*10 (rs1065852) GG genotype were more likely to reach the optimal blood concentration (p=0.049) in 400 mg/day group. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that the optimal blood concentration of HCQ measured approximately 12-18 hours after the last dosage may be between 500 and 600 ng/mL in Chinese patients with SLE. The observed variations in HCQ concentrations between individuals can potentially be attributed to genetic polymorphisms in CYP2D6*10 (rs1065852) and CYP2C8 (rs7910936 and rs10882521). Genotypical testing of patients and regular monitoring of blood levels are recommended for optimising HCQ dosage management in Chinese patients with SLE. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER ChiCTR2300070628.

Abstract
Heat stress is a major abiotic stress that can cause serious losses of a crop. Our previous work identified a gene involved in heat stress tolerance in wheat, TaPLC1-2B. To further investigate its mechanisms, in the present study, TaPLC1-2B RNAi-silenced transgenic wheat and the wild type were comparatively analyzed at both the seedling and adult stages, with or without heat stress, using transcriptome sequencing. A total of 15,549 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified at the adult stage and 20,535 DEGs were detected at the seedling stage. After heat stress, an enrichment of pathways such as phytohormones and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling was mainly found in the seedling stage, and pathways related to metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, circadian rhythms, and ABC transporter were enriched in the adult stage. Auxin and abscisic acid were downregulated in the seedling stage and vice versa in the adult stage; and the MYB, WRKY, and no apical meristem gene families were downregulated in the seedling stage in response to heat stress and upregulated in the adult stage in response to heat stress. This study deepens our understanding of the mechanisms of TaPLC1-2B in regard to heat stress in wheat at the seedling and adult stages.

Abstract
Electrochemical reduction of contaminated nitrate to ammonia (NRA) opens a new window for mass production of ammonia and the alleviation of energy crises and environmental pollution. However, fabricating effective catalysts for the NRA still faces significant challenges. Herein, a highly-efficient NRA catalyst, FeP4/Ni2P, was successfully constructed. The strong electron coupling at heterointerfaces of FeP4/Ni2P promoted the generation of abundant active hydrogen *H, inhibited the competition of the HER, accelerated the hydrogenation of the NRA. Benefiting from these, the catalyst displays good NRA catalytic activity in the neutral electrolyte, with the NH3 FE of 97.83 ± 0.091 %, NH3 selectivity of 98.67 ± 0.50 %, NH3 yield rate of 0.262 ± 0.01 mmol·h-1·cm-2, and NO3- conversion rate of 93.02 ± 0.14 %. The DFT theoretical calculations demonstrated that the FeP4/Ni2P heterointerfaces played a critical role in shearing the H-OH bonds of water, resulting in generating more active hydrogen as a key NRA hydrogenation source, and hindering the *H dimerization to form H2, enhancing the NH3 selectivity. This work has a certain reference value for designing excellent catalysts for the NRA.

Abstract
The mediation of maternal-embryonic cross-talk via nutrition and metabolism impacts greatly on offspring health. However, the underlying key interfaces remain elusive. Here, we determined that maternal high-fat diet during pregnancy in mice impaired preservation of the ovarian primordial follicle pool in female offspring, which was concomitant with mitochondrial dysfunction of germ cells. Furthermore, this occurred through a reduction in maternal gut microbiota-related vitamin B1 while the defects were restored via vitamin B1 supplementation. Intriguingly, vitamin B1 promoted acetyl-CoA metabolism in offspring ovaries, contributing to histone acetylation and chromatin accessibility at the promoters of cell cycle-related genes, enhancement of mitochondrial function, and improvement of granulosa cell proliferation. In humans, vitamin B1 is downregulated in the serum of women with gestational diabetes mellitus. In this work, these findings uncover the role of the non-gamete transmission of maternal high-fat diet in influencing offspring oogenic fate. Vitamin B1 could be a promising therapeutic approach for protecting offspring health.

Abstract
A highly selective and durable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst is the bottleneck for direct seawater splitting because of side reactions primarily caused by chloride ions (Cl- ). Most studies about OER catalysts in seawater focus on the repulsion of the Cl- to reduce its negative effects. Herein, we demonstrate that the absorption of Cl- on the specific site of a popular OER electrocatalyst, nickel-iron layered double hydroxide (NiFe LDH), does not have a significant negative impact; rather, it is beneficial for its activity and stability enhancement in natural seawater. A set of in situ characterization techniques reveals that the adsorption of Cl- on the desired Fe site suppresses Fe leaching, and creates more OER-active Ni sites, improving the catalyst's long-term stability and activity simultaneously. Therefore, we achieve direct alkaline seawater electrolysis for the very first time on a commercial-scale alkaline electrolyser (AE, 120 cm2 electrode area) using the NiFe LDH anode. The new alkaline seawater electrolyser exhibits a reduction in electricity consumption by 20.7 % compared to the alkaline purified water-based AE using commercial Ni catalyst, achieving excellent durability for 100 h at 200 mA cm-2 .

Abstract
Zearalenone (ZEN) is well known as a kind of endocrine disruptor whose exposure is capable of causing reproductive toxicity in animals. Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G) is a derivative of cyanidin and owns multiple biofunctions, and prior efforts have suggested that C3G has therapeutic actions for reproductive diseases. In this article, a ZEN exposure model during primordial follicle assembly was constructed using the in vitro culture platform of neonatal mouse ovaries. We investigated the protective effect of C3G on ZEN-induced ovarian toxicity during primordial follicle assembly in mice, as well as its potential mechanism. Interestingly, we observed that C3G could effectively protect the ovary from ZEN damage, mainly by restoring primordial follicle assembly, which upregulated the expression of LHX8 and SOHLH1 proteins and relieved ZEN-induced DNA damage. Next, to explore the mechanism by which C3G rescued ZEN-induced injury, we performed RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). The bioinformatic analysis illustrated that the rescue pathway of C3G was associated with p53-Gadd45a signaling and cell cycle. Then, western blotting and flow cytometry results revealed that C3G restored the expression levels of cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6) and cyclin D2 (CCND2) and regulated the ovarian cell cycle to normal. In conclusion, our findings manifested that C3G could alleviate ZEN-induced primordial follicle assembly impairment by restoring the cell cycle involved in p53-GADD45a signaling.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Sublobar resection, including wedge resection and segmentectomy, is non-inferior to lobectomy in early-stage non-small cell lung cancer treatment. We aimed to compare the risk of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) between sublobar resection and lobectomy. METHODS We conducted a prospective cohort study. Patients with sublobar resection or lobectomy were divided into the sublobar group or the lobar group, respectively. Cognition was assessed before and after surgery with Montreal Cognitive Assessment and Minimum Mental State Examination tests. POCD is defined as Z score of Montreal Cognitive Assessment change ≤-1.96. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to make demographics well-balanced between the 2 groups. RESULTS A total of 335 patients were enrolled. Both the postoperative 1-day POCD rate (sublobar 5.5% vs lobar 18.2%, P < 0.001) and the postoperative 1-month POCD rate (sublobar 7.9% vs lobar 21.8%, P < 0.001) were significantly lower in the sublobar group compared with lobar group, with demographics unbalanced between the 2 groups. In the 133 demographics-matched pairs obtained by PSM, both the postoperative 1-day POCD rate (sublobar 5.3% vs lobar 17.3%, P = 0.005) and the postoperative 1-month POCD rate (sublobar 8.3% vs lobar 18.8%, P = 0.018) remained significantly lower in the sublobar group than in the lobar group. The incidences of postoperative 1-day (P = 0.109) and postoperative 1-month (P = 0.026) Minimum Mental State Examination abnormity were also lower in the sublobar group than in the lobar group but only the latter was with statistical significance after PSM. CONCLUSIONS Sublobar resection has an advantage over lobectomy in preventing POCD. Our findings might be a reference for selecting the most suitable type of resection for non-small-cell lung cancer patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Treatment and preventative advances for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been slow due, in part, to limited subphenotypes. We tested if unsupervised machine learning on CT images would discover CT emphysema subtypes with distinct characteristics, prognoses and genetic associations. METHODS New CT emphysema subtypes were identified by unsupervised machine learning on only the texture and location of emphysematous regions on CT scans from 2853 participants in the Subpopulations and Intermediate Outcome Measures in COPD Study (SPIROMICS), a COPD case-control study, followed by data reduction. Subtypes were compared with symptoms and physiology among 2949 participants in the population-based Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) Lung Study and with prognosis among 6658 MESA participants. Associations with genome-wide single-nucleotide-polymorphisms were examined. RESULTS The algorithm discovered six reproducible (interlearner intraclass correlation coefficient, 0.91-1.00) CT emphysema subtypes. The most common subtype in SPIROMICS, the combined bronchitis-apical subtype, was associated with chronic bronchitis, accelerated lung function decline, hospitalisations, deaths, incident airflow limitation and a gene variant near DRD1, which is implicated in mucin hypersecretion (p=1.1 ×10-8). The second, the diffuse subtype was associated with lower weight, respiratory hospitalisations and deaths, and incident airflow limitation. The third was associated with age only. The fourth and fifth visually resembled combined pulmonary fibrosis emphysema and had distinct symptoms, physiology, prognosis and genetic associations. The sixth visually resembled vanishing lung syndrome. CONCLUSION Large-scale unsupervised machine learning on CT scans defined six reproducible, familiar CT emphysema subtypes that suggest paths to specific diagnosis and personalised therapies in COPD and pre-COPD.

Abstract
Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a major site of non-shivering thermogenesis in mammals and plays an important role in energy homeostasis. Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 1 (NFE2L1, also known as Nrf1), a master regulator of cellular metabolic homeostasis and numerous stress responses, has been found to function as a critical driver in BAT thermogenic adaption to cold or obesity by providing proteometabolic quality control. Our recent studies using adipocyte-specific Nfe2l1 knockout [Nfe2l1(f)-KO] mice demonstrated that NFE2L1-dependent transcription of lipolytic genes is crucial for white adipose tissue (WAT) homeostasis and plasticity. In the present study, we found that Nfe2l1(f)-KO mice develop an age-dependent whitening and shrinking of BAT, with signatures of down-regulation of proteasome, impaired mitochondrial function, reduced thermogenesis, pro-inflammation, and elevated regulatory cell death (RCD). Mechanistic studies revealed that deficiency of Nfe2l1 in brown adipocytes (BAC) primarily results in down-regulation of lipolytic genes, which decelerates lipolysis, making BAC unable to fuel thermogenesis. These changes lead to BAC hypertrophy, inflammation-associated RCD, and consequently cold intolerance. Single-nucleus RNA-sequencing of BAT reveals that deficiency of Nfe2l1 induces significant transcriptomic changes leading to aberrant expression of a variety of genes involved in lipid metabolism, proteasome, mitochondrial stress, inflammatory responses, and inflammation-related RCD in distinct subpopulations of BAC. Taken together, our study demonstrated that NFE2L1 serves as a vital transcriptional regulator that controls the lipid metabolic homeostasis in BAC, which in turn determines the metabolic dynamics, cellular heterogeneity and subsequently cell fates in BAT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Complete closure of mucosal defects after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)/piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection (p-EMR) procedures reduces postoperative adverse events, but the complete closure rate of the traditional method using only hemostatic clips is not satisfactory. Therefore, we invented a continuous suture technique using a barbed suture and clips to increase the complete closure rate of colorectal mucosal defects. METHODS Patients with a single large (≥ 2 cm) colorectal lesion were recruited. After completion of the ESD/p-EMR procedures, they were randomly allocated to the treatment group or control group. The mucosal defects of the treatment group were closed using barbed suture and clips, while the control group was closed using only clips. RESULTS From January 18, 2022 to April 13, 2022, a total of 62 patients with colorectal lesions were enrolled, with 31 patients in each group. Complete closure was achieved in 29 patients (93.5%) in the treatment group and 18 patients (58.1%) in the control group (P = 0.001). The median closure time was 13 min in the treatment group and 19 min in the control group (P < 0.001). The median closure speed was 6.4 cm2/10 min in the treatment group and 3.5 cm2/10 min in the control group (P = 0.008). CONCLUSIONS This study provided a clinically feasible continuous suture technique that was safe and effective for the complete closure of colorectal mucosal defects after endoscopic resection.

Abstract
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), a class of RNA molecules with transcripts longer than 200 nt, is crucial for maintaining animal reproductive function. Zearalenone (ZEN) damaged animal reproduction by targeting ovarian granulosa cells (GCs), especially in pigs. Nonetheless, it is not quite clear that whether Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G) exert effects on porcine GCs (pGCs) after ZEN exposure by altering lncRNA expression. Here, we sought to gain novel information regarding C3G protect against damages induced by ZEN in pGCs. The pGCs were divided into control (Ctrl), ZEN, ZEN + C3G (Z + C), and C3G groups. Results revealed that C3G effectively increased cell viability and suppressed ZEN-induced apoptosis in pGCs. 87 and 82 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DELs) were identified in ZEN vs. Ctrl and Z + C vs. ZEN group, respectively. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis observed that the DELs were related to cell metabolism and cell-matrix adhesion biological processes. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis found that the DELs were associated with the phosphatidylinositide 3-kinases (PI3K)-protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway. In brief, we demonstrated that C3G could shield apoptosis induced by ZEN, which may be connected with the changes of lncRNA expression profiles in pGCs. This study complemented our understanding of the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms by which C3G mitigated the toxicity of ZEN in pGCs.

Abstract
Anti-reflective nanocoatings that mimic the eyes of fruit flies are biodegradable materials with great market potential for a variety of optical devices that require anti-reflective properties. Microbial expression of retinin provides a new idea for the preparation of nanocoatings under mild conditions compared to physicochemical methods. However, the current expression level of retinin, the key to anti-reflective coating, is low and difficult to meet mass production. In this study, we analyzed and screened the best expression hosts for Drosophila-derived retinin protein, and optimized its expression. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells were identified as the efficient expression host of retinin, and purified retinin protein was obtained. At the same time, the preparation method of lanolin nanoemulsion was explored, and the best anti-reflective ability of the nano-coating was determined when the ratio of specific concentration of retinin protein and wax emulsion was 16:4, the pH of the nano-coating formation system was 7.0, and the temperature was 30 ℃. The enhanced antireflective ability and reduced production cost of artificial antireflective nanocoatings by determining the composition of nanocoatings and optimizing the concentration, pH and temperature of system components may facilitate future application of artificial green degradable antireflective coatings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The relationship between the levels of the first 24-h PaCO2 and the prognosis of sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) remains unclear, and the first 24-h optimal target for PaCO2 is currently inconclusive. This study was performed to investigate the correlation between PaCO2 and all-cause mortality for SAE patients, establish a reference range of the initial 24-hour PaCO2 for clinicians in critical care, and explain the possible pathophysiological mechanisms of abnormal PaCO2 levels as a higher mortality risk factor for SAE. METHODS The baseline information and clinical data of patients were extracted from the fourth edition Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care database (MIMIC-IV 2.0). Multivariate logistic regressions were performed to assess the relationship between PaCO2 and all-cause mortality of SAE. Additionally, restricted cubic splines, Kaplan-Meier Survival analyses, propensity score matching (PSM) analyses, and subgroup analyses were conducted. RESULTS A total of 5471 patients were included in our cohort. In the original and matched cohort, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that normocapnia and mild hypercapnia may be associated with a more favorable prognosis of SAE patients, and survival analysis supported the findings. In addition, a U-shaped association emerged when examining the initial 24-hour PaCO2 levels in relation to 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day mortality using restricted cubic splines, with an average cut-off value of 36.3mmHg (P for nonlinearity<0.05). Below the cut-off value, higher PaCO2 was associated with lower all-cause mortality, while above the cut-off value, higher PaCO2 was associated with higher all-cause mortality. Subsequent subgroup analyses revealed similar results for the subcohort of GCS≤8 compared to the original cohort. Additionally, when examining the subcohort of GCS>8, a L-shaped relationship between PaCO2 and the three clinical endpoints emerged, in contrast to the previously observed U-shaped pattern. The findings from the subcohort of GCS>8 suggested that patients experiencing hypocapnia had a more unfavorable prognosis, which aligns with the results obtained from corresponding multivariate logistic regression analyses. CONCLUSION The retrospective study revealed the association between the first 24-h PaCO2 and all-cause mortality risk (30-day, 60-day, and 90-day) for patients with SAE in ICU. The range (35mmHg-50mmHg) of PaCO2 may be the optimal target for patients with SAE in clinical practice.

Abstract
The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR-associated protein (CRISPR-Cas) system has undergone substantial and transformative progress. Simultaneously, a spectrum of derivative technologies has emerged, spanning both conventional and non-conventional yeast strains. Non-conventional yeasts, distinguished by their robust metabolic pathways, formidable resilience against diverse stressors, and distinctive regulatory mechanisms, have emerged as a highly promising alternative for diverse industrial applications. This comprehensive review serves to encapsulate the prevailing gene editing methodologies and their associated applications within the traditional industrial microorganism, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Additionally, it delineates the current panorama of non-conventional yeast strains, accentuating their latent potential in the realm of industrial and biotechnological utilization. Within this discourse, we also contemplate the potential value these tools offer alongside the attendant challenges they pose.

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease that frequently involves cartilage damage and the destruction of the bone structure, ultimately resulting in disability and long-term pain. It is clear that overexpression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the complex inflammatory microenvironment are the main causes of RA pathogenesis; thereby, the efficacy of any single-drug treatment is limited. Herein, we formulated a therapeutic hyaluronic acid derivative (PAM-HA) with adsorption capacity to the subchondral bone, a long retention time within inflamed joints, and ROS-scavenging capacity, which was used as a drug carrier for realizing the controlled release of sinomenine (Sin) within arthritic joints. This "drug in therapeutic polymer" design strategy was aimed at realizing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory combination therapy for RA. In vivo experiments suggest that PAM-HA@Sin NPs can be retained in the inflamed joints of rats for a long time compared with commercially available free Sin injections. As expected, therapeutic PAM-HA polymeric carriers can increase joint lubrication and reduce oxidative stress, while the released Sin induces downregulation of proinflammatory factors (TNF-α and IL-1β) and upregulation of anti-inflammatory factors (Arg-1 and IL-10) via the NF-κB pathway. In summary, a ROS-scavenging hyaluronic acid (HA) derivative was developed as the nanocarrier for Sin delivery to simultaneously remodel the oxidative/inflammatory microenvironment in RA, which opens up new horizons for the development of therapeutic polymers and the combined therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
Retroperitoneal non-organ-originated malignancies are rare pediatric tumors with challenging diagnosis and treatment. The present study aimed to analyze the clinicopathological characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of retroperitoneal non-organ-originated malignancies. In the study, we included the pathological diagnosis of pediatric retroperitoneal non-organ-originated malignant tumors between 2000 to 2019 through the updated Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. We use the Kaplan-Meier survival curve to calculate the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS). The risk of all-cause death and disease-specific death were analyzed using Cox proportional hazard regression model and Fine-and-Grey competitive hazard model, respectively. In the study, a total of 443 pediatric retroperitoneal non-organ-originated malignancies were included. Of them, only 22.3% of patients had no metastatic disease, 42.9% had distant metastasis and 34.8% had locally advanced diseases. The primary pathological tumor was neuroblastoma followed by germ cell tumor. The overall 10-year OS and CSS were 70.7% and 73.1%, respectively, and the 10-year OS and CSS of metastatic diseases were 54.4% and 56.6%, respectively. Older children, worse tumor stage at diagnosis, incomplete resection, and prolonged time from diagnosis to treatment were significantly associated with worse survival outcomes. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy did not significantly improve the prognosis of patients without complete tumor resection. The study indicated that most pediatric retroperitoneal non-organ-originated malignancies diagnosed with metastatic diseases have plagued treatment. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the main treatment methods for children unable to undergo complete surgical treatment. However, these treatments do not reach the same therapeutic effect as complete tumor resection after early diagnosis. Hence, early diagnosis and surgery for complete tumor resection are of utmost importance.

Abstract
Zearalenone (ZEN) is a widespread and transgenerational toxicant that can cause serious reproductive health risks, which poses a potential threat to global agricultural production and human health; its estrogenic activity can lead to reproductive toxicity through the induction of granulosa cell apoptosis. Herein, comparative transcriptome analysis, single-cell transcriptome analysis, and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) combined with gene knockout in vivo and RNA interference in vitro were used to comprehensively describe the damage caused by ZEN exposure on ovarian granulosa cells. Comparative transcriptome analysis and WGCNA suggested that the tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α-mediated mitogen-activated protein kinase 7 (MAP2K7)/ AKT serine/threonine kinase 2 (AKT2) axis was disordered after ZEN exposure in porcine granulosa cells (pGCs) and mouse granulosa cells (mGCs). In vivo gene knockout and in vitro RNA interference verified that TNF-α-mediated MAP2K7/AKT2 was the guiding signal in ZEN-induced apoptosis in pGCs and mGCs. Moreover, single-cell transcriptome analysis showed that ZEN exposure could induce changes in the TNF signaling pathway in offspring. Overall, we concluded that the TNF-α-mediated MAP2K7/AKT2 axis was the main signaling pathway of ZEN-induced apoptosis in pGCs and mGCs. This work provides new insights into the mechanism of ZEN toxicity and provides new potential therapeutic targets for the loss of livestock and human reproductive health caused by ZEN.

Abstract
Easy diffusion and low reusability limit the practicality of photocatalysts. In this study, a hollow sphere (HS) heterojunction was synthesized based on oxygen-doped carbon nitride (OCN) and layered double hydroxides (LDHs). A thermosensitive HS hydrogel (HS Gel) was prepared by mixing HS with N-isopropylacrylamide. Bisphenol A (BPA), being widely manufactured and used in commercial and domestical products and its high toxicity, was chosen as the target pollutant to demonstrate the photocatalytic ability and practicality of the HS Gel. HS Gel presented effective BPA degradation (95% degradation in 70 mins, 4.2 × 10-2 min-1 of kobs) at ambient temperature which is much better than kobs = 1.8 × 10-2 min-1 of OCN and kobs = 0.08 × 10-2 min-1 of LDH), and increased by two-fold the recycling service life (retention of >80% degradation efficiency after 13 usage cycles) compared to other carbon-based photocatalysts (retention of >80% degradation efficiency after 5-6 usage cycles). This is due to its multifunctional characteristics (magnetic property and thermal sensitivity). Under ambient temperature, the hydrophilic HS Gel swelled in the aqueous solution, which promoted the photocatalytic reaction between HS and BPA in the gel state. After the reaction, the HS Gel was subjected to shrinkage by high temperature heating to enhance the mechanical strength for recovery. The magnetic recovery was realized by the paramagnetic properties of layered double oxide to reduce environmental interference. Detailed studies of HS gel related to enhanced service life were conducted including structural changes, catalyst leaking and magnetic changing. A new kind of type Ӏ plus Z-scheme mechanism was also proposed based on the Kubelka-Munk equation, UV diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and Mott-Schotty technique.

Abstract
Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. Fubaiju is rich in phenolic compounds with various benefits such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cardiovascular protection. In this study, 12 phenolic compounds, including five flavonoid glycosides and seven quinic acid derivatives, were successfully separated from the flowers of Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. Fubaiju by high-speed counter-current chromatography and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography. Ethyl acetate-n-butanol-acetonitrile-water-acetic acid (5:0.5:2.5:5:0.25, v/v/v/v/v) was selected as solvent system to separate six fractions from the flowers of Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. Fubaiju, and 20% aqueous acetonitrile (containing 0.1% formic acid) was chosen to be the elution solvent in preparative high-performance liquid chromatography for purifying the fractions above. Luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (1), luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide (2), apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (3), luteolin-7-O-β-D-rutinoside (4), diosmetin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (5), chlorogenic acid (6), 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (7), 1,4-dicaffeoylquinic acid (8), 3,4-dicaffeoylquinic acid (9), 3,4-dicaffeoyl-epi-quinic acid (10), 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (11), and 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (12) were isolated with purities all above 95%, respectively. In addition, all isolates were evaluated for their protective effects on H2 O2 -induced oxidative damage in adult retinal pigment epithelial cells.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Organ motion is challenging during primary definitive external beam radiotherapy in locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC). Our study evaluated the manual adaptive planning approach three weeks after the treatment started, compared the dosimetric consequences of the manual adaptive plans to the scheduled plans, and explored the clinical factors predicting patients suitable for this replanning strategy. MATERIALS/METHODS We analyzed 82 patients receiving primary definitive external beam radiotherapy with weekly online cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-based monitoring. The re-CT simulation was performed during treatment to develop a new plan (manual adaptive plan) due to a significant deviation of the clinical target volume (CTV). To evaluate the dosimetric benefit, D98, homogeneity index (HI) and conformity index (CI) for the planning target volume (PTV), as well as D2cc of the bowel, bladder, sigmoid and rectum were compared between the manual adaptive plans and the scheduled ones. The clinical factors influencing target motion throughout treatment were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. RESULTS The re-CT simulation was performed after 15 fractions during treatment to develop the manual adaptive plan in 41 patients. The median CI and HI of the manual adaptive plan were significantly superior to the scheduled one (P = 0.001, 0.003, respectively), demonstrating a better dose coverage of the target volume. Compared to the scheduled plans, D98 of the manual adaptive plans increased by 3.3% (P = 0.0002), the average of D2cc to the rectum, bladder decreased 0.267Gy (P = 0.0049) and 0.321Gy (P = 0.0146), respectively. In addition, the chi-square test demonstrated that age (P = 0.024), primary tumor volume (P = 0.015), and parametrial infiltration (P = 0.022) were the clinical factors influencing target motion throughout treatment. Multivariate analysis further identified the large tumor volume (≥50cm3, OR = 3.254, P = 0.039) and parametrial infiltration (OR = 3.376, P = 0.018) as the independent risk factors. CONCLUSION We found the most significant organ motion happened after 15 fractions during treatment. The manual adaptive planning of definitive radiotherapy improved the dose coverage and decreased the volume of organs at risk of receiving clinically significant doses of RT in patients with LACC. Patients with bulky mass or with parametrial infiltration were highly suggested to receive manual adaptive planning after 15 fractions during definitive radiotherapy, a timesaving strategy compared to the daily online adaptive radiotherapy without compromising the target dose coverage.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), one of the most prevalent contaminants in human and animal food, impairs the immune system, but information on the mechanisms of AFB1-mediated macrophage toxicity is still lacking. METHODS AND RESULTS In this study, for the first time, we employed whole transcriptome sequencing technology to explore the molecular mechanism by which AFB1 affects the growth of porcine alveolar macrophages (PAM). We found that AFB1 exposure reduced the proliferative capacity of PAM and prevented cell cycle progression. Based on whole transcriptome analysis, RT-qPCR, ICC and RNAi, we verified the role and regulatory mechanism of the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in the process of AFB1 exposure affecting the growth of PAM. CONCLUSIONS We found that AFB1 induced MSTRG.43,583, MSTRG.67,490, MSTRG.84,995, and MSTRG.89,935 to competitively bind miR-219a, miR-30b-3p, and miR-30c-1-3p, eliminating the inhibition of its target genes CACNA1S, RYR3, and PRKCG. This activated the calcium signaling pathway to regulate the growth of PAM. These results provide valuable information on the mechanism of AFB1 exposure induced impairment of macrophage function in humans and animals.

Abstract
Excess lead iodide (PbI2 ) aggregation at the charge carrier transport interface leads to energy loss and acts as unstable origins in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, a strategy is reported to modulate the interfacial excess PbI2 by introducing π-conjugated small-molecule semiconductors 4,4'-cyclohexylbis[N,N-bis(4-methylphenyl)aniline] (TAPC) into perovskite films through an antisolvent addition method. The coordination of TAPC to PbI units through the electron-donating triphenylamine groups and π-Pb2+ interactions allows for a compact perovskite film with reduced excess PbI2 aggregates. Besides, preferred energy level alignment is achieved due to the suppressed n-type doping effect at the hole transport layer (HTL) interfaces. As a result, the TAPC-modified PSC based on Cs0.05 (FA0.85 MA0.15 )0.95 Pb(I0.85 Br0.15 )3 triple-cation perovskite achieved an improved PCE from 18.37% to 20.68% and retained ≈90% of the initial efficiency after 30 days of aging under ambient conditions. Moreover, the TAPC-modified device based on FA0.95 MA0.05 PbI2.85 Br0.15 perovskite produced an improved efficiency of 23.15% compared to the control (21.19%). These results provide an effective strategy for improving the performance of PbI2 -rich PSCs.

Abstract
Surface property modification of catalyst support is a straightforward approach to optimize the performance of supported noble metal catalysts. In particular, oxygen vacancies and hydroxyl groups play significant roles in promoting noble metal dispersion on catalysts as well as catalytic stability. In this study, we developed a nanoflower-like TiO2-supported Pd catalyst that has a higher concentration of oxygen vacancies and surface hydroxyl groups compared to that of commercial anatase and P25 support. Notably, due to the distinctive structure of the nanoflower-like TiO2, our catalyst exhibited improved dispersion and stabilization of Pd species and the formation of abundant reactive oxygen species, thereby facilitating the activation of CO and O2 molecules. As a result, the catalyst showed remarkable efficiency in catalyzing the low-temperature CO oxidation reaction with a complete CO conversion at 80 °C and stability for over 100 h.

Abstract
We aimed to investigate the factors associated with vitamin D deficiency and changes in 25 (OH)D levels, as well as the impact of those changes on disease activity and renal function among SLE patients. This retrospective cohort study was based on the medical records of SLE patients hospitalized between 2010 and 2021. We collected relevant information from this patient population. Logistic regression analysis was employed to determine the factors associated with vitamin D deficiency and increased 25 (OH)D levels, and we calculated the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) accordingly. At baseline, among the 1257 SLE patients, the median and interquartile range of 25 (OH)D levels were 14 (9, 20) ng/ml, with 953 (75.8%) patients exhibiting 25 (OH)D deficiency (< 20 ng/ml). The presence of 25 (OH)D deficiency was found to be associated with renal involvement and a high glucocorticoid (GC) maintenance dose. Among the 383 patients who were followed up for an average of 18 months, an increase of at least 100% in 25 (OH)D levels was positively associated with a decreased GC maintenance dose and vitamin D3 supplementation, with adjusted odds ratios(OR) (95% confidence interval [CI]) of 2.16 (1.02, 4.59) and 1300 (70, 22300), respectively. Furthermore, an increased level of 25 (OH)D was significantly associated with a decrease in the Disease Activity Index 2000 score and the urinary protein/creatinine ratio. Patients with SLE have low vitamin D levels, especially those with impaired kidney function. Increased 25 (OH)D levels can be achieved through supplementation with high doses of vitamin D3 and are associated with improvements in disease activity and the urinary protein/creatinine ratio.

Abstract
The atmosphere over the ocean is an important research field that involves multiple aspects such as climate change, atmospheric pollution, weather forecasting, and marine ecosystems. It is of great significance for global sustainable development. Satellites provide a wide range of measurements of marine aerosol optical properties and are very important to the study of aerosol characteristics over the ocean. In this study, aerosol optical depth (AOD) data from seventeen AERONET (Aerosol Robotic Network) stations were used as benchmark data to comprehensively evaluate the data accuracy of six aerosol optical thickness products from 2013 to 2020, including MODIS (Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectrometer), VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite), MISR (Multi-Angle Imaging Spectrometer), OMAERO (OMI/Aura Multi-wavelength algorithm), OMAERUV (OMI/Aura Near UV algorithm), and CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation) in the East Asian Ocean. In the East Asia Sea, VIIRS AOD products generally have a higher correlation coefficient (R), expected error within ratio (EE within), lower root mean square error (RMSE), and median bias (MB) than MODIS AOD products. The retrieval accuracy of AOD data from VIIRS is the highest in spring. MISR showed a higher EE than other products in the East Asian Ocean but also exhibited systematic underestimation. In most cases, the OMAERUV AOD product data are of better quality than OMAERO, and OMAERO overestimates AOD throughout the year. The CALIPSO AOD product showed an apparent underestimation of the AOD in different seasons (EE Below = 58.98%), but when the AOD range is small (0 < AOD < 0.1), the CALIPSO data accuracy is higher compared with other satellite products under small AOD range. In the South China Sea, VIIRS has higher data accuracy than MISR, while in the Bohai-Yellow Sea, East China Sea, Sea of Japan, and the western Pacific Ocean, MISR has the best data accuracy. MODIS and VIIRS show similar trends in R, EE within, MB, and RMSE under the influence of AOD, Angstrom exponent (AE), and precipitable water. The study on the temporal and spatial distribution of AOD in the East Asian Ocean shows that the annual variation of AOD is different in different sea areas, and the ocean in the coastal area is greatly affected by land-based pollution. In contrast, the AOD values in the offshore areas are lower, and the aerosol type is mainly clean marine type aerosol. These findings can help researchers in the East Asian Ocean choose the most accurate and reliable satellite AOD data product to better study atmospheric aerosols' impact and trends.

Abstract
Development of novel therapeutic agents that possess different anticancer mechanisms from the traditional antitumor drugs is highly attractive as no medication can cure all types of cancers. Herein, we report a rational design of antitumor lipo-polylysine polymers as synthetic mimics of biosynthetic lipopeptide surfactants featuring antimicrobial or cytotoxic activities for cancer therapy. The optimal polymer shows a wide range of anticancer activities against multiple cancer cells, including highly metastatic and drug-resistant ones, but low toxicity to normal cells. Mechanism studies show that the optimal polymer can interact with the membrane of cancer cells and induce cell necrosis by triggering cell membrane perforation, which is different from the therapeutic mechanisms of traditional anticancer drugs. In vivo studies imply that the optimal polymer efficiently inhibits tumor growth without causing obvious side effects on a C26 graft tumor model. Overall, the lipopeptide-mimicking lipo-polylysine with the advantages of easy synthesis and low cost provides a new anticancer strategy with high efficacy and biocompatibility.

Abstract
This communication describes a strategy to synthesize stable deep blue FAPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) by constructing a matrix structure. Amorphous Ni2+-based metal halide matrices can stabilize QDs from both chemical and physical factors, and Ni2+ doping can further enhance their structural stability due to lattice shrinking. Such deep blue QD films exhibit stable X-ray diffraction patterns and photoluminescence even after 245 days of storage.

Abstract
PURPOSE Using the visual world paradigm with the eye-tracking technique, this study examined the extent to which lexical tone similarity influences spoken word recognition. METHOD In two experiments, participants were audibly presented with a target word and visually presented with the same target word, a tonal competitor, and two distractors, and they were required to identify the target word. In Experiment 1, the two tonal competitors shared either acoustically highly similar tones (e.g., target word: "" /yang2tai2/, "balcony" vs. competitor: "" /yang3zi3/, "adopted son") or acoustically lowly similar tones (e.g., target word: "" /yang2tai2/, "balcony" vs. competitor: "" /yang4ben3/, "sample"). In Experiment 2, the acoustic similarity of the target words and the tonal competitors shared either acoustically highly similar tones or acoustically lowly similar tones or identical tones (e.g., target word: "" /yang2tai2/, "balcony" vs. competitor: "" /yang2mao2/, "wool"). RESULTS The results of the two experiments consistently demonstrated a graded tonal competitor effect, in which acoustically highly similar tonal competitors attracted more visual attention than acoustically lowly similar tonal competitors. CONCLUSION Tonal similarity plays a graded constraining role in spoken word recognition in Mandarin Chinese.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gut microbiota plays a significant role in host survival, health, and diseases; however, compared to other livestock, research on the gut microbiome of donkeys is limited. RESULTS In this study, a total of 30 donkey samples of rectal contents from six regions, including Shigatse, Changdu, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Dezhou, were collected for metagenomic sequencing. The results of the species annotation revealed that the dominant phyla were Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, and the dominant genera were Bacteroides, unclassified_o_Clostridiales (short for Clostridiales) and unclassified_f_Lachnospiraceae (short for Lachnospiraceae). The dominant phyla, genera and key discriminators were Bacteroidetes, Clostridiales and Bacteroidetes in Tibet donkeys (Shigatse); Firmicutes, Clostridiales and Clostridiales in Tibet donkeys (Changdu); Firmicutes, Fibrobacter and Tenericutes in Qinghai donkeys; Firmicutes, Clostridiales and Negativicutes in Yunnan donkeys; Firmicutes, Fibrobacter and Fibrobacteres in Xinjiang donkeys; Firmicutes, Clostridiales and Firmicutes in Dezhou donkeys. In the functional annotation, it was mainly enriched in the glycolysis and gluconeogenesis of carbohydrate metabolism, and the abundance was the highest in Dezhou donkeys. These results combined with altitude correlation analysis demonstrated that donkeys in the Dezhou region exhibited strong glucose-conversion ability, those in the Shigatse region exhibited strong glucose metabolism and utilization ability, those in the Changdu region exhibited a strong microbial metabolic function, and those in the Xinjiang region exhibited the strongest ability to decompose cellulose and hemicellulose. CONCLUSION According to published literature, this is the first study to construct a dataset with multi-regional donkey breeds. Our study revealed the differences in the composition and function of gut microbes in donkeys from different geographic regions and environmental settings and is valuable for donkey gut microbiome research.

Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease in middle-aged and elderly people. In particular, increasing evidence has showed that astrocyte-mediated neuroinflammation is involved in the pathogenesis of PD. As a precious traditional Chinese medicine, bear bile powder (BBP) has a long history of use in clinical practice. It has numerous activities, such as clearing heat, calming the liver wind and anti-inflammation, and also exhibits good therapeutic effect on convulsive epilepsy. However, whether BBP can prevent the development of PD has not been elucidated. Hence, this study was designed to explore the effect and mechanism of BBP on suppressing astrocyte-mediated neuroinflammation in a mouse model of PD. PD-like behavior was induced in the mice by intraperitoneal injection of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) (30 mg·kg-1) for five days, followed by BBP (50, 100, and 200 mg·kg-1) treatment daily for ten days. LPS stimulated rat C6 astrocytic cells were used as a cell model of neuroinflammation. THe results indicated that BBP treatment significantly ameliorated dyskinesia, increased the levels of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and inhibited astrocyte hyperactivation in the substantia nigra (SN) of PD mice. Furthermore, BBP decreased the protein levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and up-regulated the protein levels of takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 (TGR5) in the SN. Moreover, BBP significantly activated TGR5 in a dose-dependent manner, and decreased the protein levels of GFAP, iNOS and COX2, as well as the mRNA levels of GFAP, iNOS, COX2, interleukin (IL) -1β, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in LPS-stimulated C6 cells. Notably, BBP suppressed the phosphorylation of protein kinase B (AKT), inhibitor of NF-κB (IκBα) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) proteins in vivo and in vitro. We also observed that TGR5 inhibitor triamterene attenuated the anti-neuroinflammatory effect of BBP on LPS-stimulated C6 cells. Taken together, BBP alleviates the progression of PD mice by suppressing astrocyte-mediated inflammation via TGR5.

Abstract
Background: We aim to investigate whether the neutrophil-to-serum iron ratio (N/SI) is a promising biomarker for acute myocardial infarction group (AMI) and Gensini score. Methods: A total of 263 patients were enrolled and divided into four groups. The Gensini score was used to gauge the severity of coronary artery stenosis, and inflammatory biomarkers were calculated. Results: The N/SI was substantially higher in the AMI group than those in other groups, and N/SI was an independent risk factor for AMI. In ROC analyses, N/SI had the highest area under curve (AUC) for AMI among those inflammatory biomarkers. N/SI was also proved to be related with Gensini score. Conclusion: N/SI was discovered to be a new and effective inflammatory biomarker for AMI and Gensini score.
