Abstract
This Resolution sets forth the Regulations for the organization and functioning of the Special Commission on Women's Rights, which was established by Article 3 of Supreme Decree No. 016-86-JUS of 12 December 1986. The Commission is composed of representatives of various governmental and nongovernmental organizations and is charged with promoting and guaranteeing the full exercise of Women's rights, as recognized in the Political Constitution of Peru. To this end its has the following functions: a) to oversee the operation of constitutional provisions that recognize equal rights for women; b) to propose legal rules as well as systemize legislation, orienting it toward the recognition and operation of the rights of women; c) to formulate and propose policies for the promotion and the development of the rights of women; d) to coordinate and evaluate policies that promote and develop women's rights; and e) to make the population aware of the rights of women so that it understand the actual role that the Constitution recognizes for them.
