Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Some cheap and easily used operated indexes of insulin resistance (IR) were currently available. We aimed to evaluate the association of six surrogate indexes of IR with incident stroke and to compare their predictive capacity. METHODS We analysed data from 14,595 eligible study participants from the Rural Chinese Cohort Study. Modified Poisson regression models were used to estimate relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) of incident stroke associated with the visceral adiposity index (VAI), the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), triglyceride-glucose (TyG), TyG-body mass index, and TyG-waist circumference. The receiver operator characteristic curve was used to compare the ability of the abovementioned IR indexes to predict stroke. RESULTS During a median follow-up of 6 years, 786 newly diagnosed stroke cases were identified. The levels of six surrogate indexes of IR were all significantly higher in the stroke population than in the non-stroke population (p < 0.001). Compared with quartile 1, the multivariable adjusted RRs (95% CIs) of incident stroke for quartile 4 were 2.01 (1.47-2.76), 1.62 (1.28, 2.04), 1.64 (1.28-2.09), and 1.92 (1.50-2.45) for CVAI, VAI, LAP, and TyG, respectively. Significant dose-response associations were also found between surrogate IR indexes and risk of stroke. The area under the curves|areas under the curves for CVAI (0.674) was significantly greater than for other indexes (TyG-WC:0.622, TyG:0.614, LAP:0.606, TyG-BMI:0.598, and VAI:0.577) (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Six surrogate indexes of IR were independently associated with incident stroke. The CVAI may be the most suitable index for stroke prediction.

Abstract
Background Nurse led noncommunicable diseases (NCD) clinic may address the significant shortage of human resource for health for managing common NCDs. The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of nurse-led NCD clinic for identification, prevention, and management of common NCDs. Materials and Methods A quasi experimental study was conducted at a Public Health Dispensary in periurban community of Northern India. Situational analysis and stakeholders' interview were done based on which the clinic was setup and run over a period of 2 months by registered nurses and nursing students to offer screening, health education and appropriate referral. The primary outcome of study was proportion of population screened, prevalence of common NCDs, risk factors modification, medication adherence, and patient satisfaction. Results It was feasible to run a nurse led clinic in terms of availability of space, equipment to run the clinic and human resource. A total of 455 individuals aged ≥30 years were enrolled using the total enumeration sampling technique. There was a significant increase in screening rates from 0.29% to 3.7% in nurse-led NCD clinic. There was significant mean change in systolic blood pressure (18.75 ± 6.92 mm Hg), diastolic blood pressure (4.4 ± 3.71 mm Hg), random blood sugar (33.36 ± 38.49 mg/dl) Body Mass Index, and waist circumference (P < 0.01) among the population screened. Medication adherence significantly increased from 7.8% to 76.4% (P < 0.01) after 2 months of nurse-led NCD clinic. Conclusion Task sharing for managing common NCDs in nurse-led NCD clinic was feasible and effective in increasing screening rates, medication adherence, and risk factors modification among studied population.

Abstract
This study assesses the association between sleep duration and plasma lipid profiles in people with diabetes mellitus (DM). Sleep duration data were obtained in 91 patients from the POWER2DM study (NCT03588104). The patients were divided in tertiles, based on their sleep duration, and blood samples were obtained at the beginning and after 9 months. Significant differences were found, specifically, patients in Tertile 3 (≥ 7.51 h) showed lower plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol HDL-c (p < 0.05), apolipoprotein A1 (apo-A1; p < 0.05) and low HDL-c/apo-A1 ratio (p < 0.05). This study shows that sleep duration is associated with plasma lipid profiles in people with DM.

Abstract
Objective Myocardial infarction (MI) is the primary cause of mortality and morbidity in women, but its sequelae remain largely understudied. Given the heart-brain relationship, our study aimed to further understand stress's impact on regulating cognitive function post-MI. Specifically, our study evaluated the effect of stress induced using the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), on neuropsychological function in women who have or have not experienced MI. Methodology To do so, women (mean age = 59.41 yrs) with (WHxMI = 13) or without () a history of MI were exposed to the TSST prior to completion of a series of standardized neuropsychological tests: the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Control Oral Word Association (COWA), Rey Complex Figure and Recognition (RCFT), Trail Making Test (TMT), and Auditory Consonant Triagrams (ACT). Results Our findings support MI to be associated with impairments in working memory affecting immediate recall of ACT, as well as visuospatial impairments in the RCFT copy trial, marked by poorer drawing accuracy and incorrect placement of figure elements. Overall, WHxMI required more time to complete the neuropsychological assessment (WHxMI 166.57 ± 12, 155.00 ± 6.57; p < 0.01). Conclusion Together, these findings support cognitive impairments noted following a social stressor to remain subtle in WHxMI. Our study highlights the need for the development of more sensitive tools to screen for neuropsychological impairments in women with MI and the importance of assessing performance in a variety of testing conditions.

Abstract
Background Coronary heart disease is a highly prevalent inflammatory disease caused by coronary atherosclerosis. Numerous studies have revealed that perivascular adipose tissue is closely associated with atherosclerosis. Here, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs differentially expressed in perivascular adipose tissue in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods We conducted Gene Ontology term and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analyses of the differentially expressed genes. Furthermore, single sample gene set enrichment analysis, immune infiltration analysis, and co-expression analysis of differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs and immune gene sets were performed. Finally, the starBase and miRTarBase databases were used to construct a competing endogenous RNA network. Results The results show that aortic perivascular adipose tissue has higher inflammation and immune infiltration levels in patients with coronary heart disease. Dysregulated long non-coding RNAs may be related to immunity, inflammation, and hypoxia. Conclusions The findings of this study provide new insights into atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

Abstract
Myocardial hypertrophy (MH) is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which in turn lead to arrhythmia or heart failure. Therefore, attention must be paid to formulation of therapeutic strategies for MH. Puerarin is a key bioactive ingredient isolated from Pueraria genera of plants that is beneficial for the treatment of MH. However, its molecular mechanism of action has not been fully determined. In the present study, 40 µM puerarin was demonstrated to be a safe dose for human AC16 cells using Cell Counting Kit‑8 assay. The protective effects of puerarin against MH were demonstrated in AC16 cells stimulated with isoproterenol (ISO). These effects were characterized by a significant decrease in surface area of cells (assessed using fluorescence staining) and mRNA and protein expression levels of MH‑associated biomarkers, including atrial and brain natriuretic peptide, assessed using reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR and western blotting, as well as β‑myosin heavy chain mRNA expression levels. Mechanistically, western blotting demonstrated that puerarin inhibited activation of the Wnt signaling pathway. Puerarin also significantly decreased phosphorylation of p65; this was mediated via crosstalk between the Wnt and NF‑κB signaling pathways. An inhibitor (Dickkopf‑1) and activator (IM‑12) of the Wnt signaling pathway were used to demonstrate that puerarin‑mediated effects alleviated ISO‑induced MH via the Wnt signaling pathway. The results of the present study demonstrated that puerarin pre‑treatment may be a potential therapeutic strategy for preventing ISO‑induced MH and managing MH in the future.

Abstract
Background Previous reviews reported that the effects of CoQ10 on glycemic control were inconsistent. There is no review exploring the optimal intake of CoQ10 for glycemic control. We aimed to investigate the efficacy of CoQ10 on glycemic control and evaluate the dose-response relationship via integrating the existing evidence from randomized control trials (RCTs). Methods Databases (PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library) were searched to identify RCTs for investigating the efficacy of CoQ10 on fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c, and HOMA-IR up to March 12, 2022. We performed a meta-analysis on 40 RCTs of CoQ10. Weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated for net changes. Evidence certainty was assessed using GRADE. Dose-response relationships were evaluated using 1-stage restricted cubic spline regression model. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021252933). Findings Forty studies (n = 2,424 participants) were included in this meta-analysis. CoQ10 significantly reduced fasting glucose (WMD: -5.22 [95% CI: -8.33, -2.11] mg/dl; P <0.001; I2 =95.10%), fasting insulin (-1.32 [-2.06, -0.58] μIU/ml; P < 0.001; I2 =78.86%), HbA1c (-0.12% [-0.23, -0.01]; P =0.04; I2 =49.10%), and HOMA-IR (-0.69 [-1.00, -0.38]; P <0.001; I2 =88.80%). The effect of CoQ10 on outcomes was greater in diabetes with lower heterogeneity. A "U" shape dose-response relationship curve revealed that 100-200 mg/day of CoQ10 largely decreased fasting glucose (χ 2 = 12.08, P nonlinearity =0.002), fasting insulin (χ 2 = 9.73, P nonlinearity =0.008), HbA1c (χ 2 = 6.00, P nonlinearity =0.049), HOMA-IR (χ 2 = 25.89, P nonlinearity <0.001). Interpretation CoQ10 supplementation has beneficial effects on glycemic control, especially in diabetes, and 100-200 mg/day of CoQ10 could achieve the greatest benefit, which could provide a basis for the dietary guidelines of CoQ10 in patients with glycemic disorders. Abstract
BACKGRUOUND This study aimed to investigate the long-term effects of diabetes drug costs on cardiovascular (CV) events and death. METHODS This retrospective observational study used data from 2009 to 2018 from the National Health Insurance in Korea. Among the patients with type 2 diabetes, those taking antidiabetic drugs and who did not have CV events until 2009 were included. Patients were divided into quartiles (Q1 [lowest]-4 [highest]) according to the 2009 diabetes drug cost. In addition, the 10-year incidences of CV events (non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, hospitalization for heart failure, and coronary revascularization) and CV death (death due to CV events) were analyzed. RESULTS A total of 441,914 participants were enrolled (median age, 60 years; men, 57%). CV events and death occurred in 28.1% and 8.36% of the patients, respectively. The 10-year incidences of CV events and deaths increased from Q1 to 4. After adjusting for sex, age, income, type of diabetes drugs, comorbidities, and smoking and drinking status, the risk of CV events significantly increased according to the sequential order of the cost quartiles. In contrast, the risk of CV death showed a U-shaped pattern, which was the lowest in Q3 (hazard ratio [HR], 0.953; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.913 to 0.995) and the highest in Q4 (HR, 1.266; 95% CI, 1.213 to 1.321). CONCLUSION Diabetes drug expenditure affects 10-year CV events and mortality. Therefore, affording an appropriate diabetes drug cost at a similar risk of CV is an independent protective factor against CV death.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Recent findings from single-cell transcriptomic studies prompted us to revisit the role of plaque foamy macrophages in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. In this review, we compared the gene expression profile of plaque foamy macrophages with those of other disease-associated macrophages and discussed their functions in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. RECENT FINDINGS To understand the phenotypes of macrophages in atherosclerotic aorta, many research groups performed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis and found that there are distinct phenotypic differences among intimal foamy, nonfoamy and adventitial macrophages. Especially, the plaque foamy macrophages express triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2), a key common feature of disease-associated macrophages in Alzheimer's disease, obesity, cirrhosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. These TREM2 + macrophages seem to be protective against chronic inflammation. SUMMARY As the gene expression profile of plaque foamy macrophages is highly comparable to that of lipid-associated macrophages from obesity, we named the plaque foamy macrophages as plaque lipid-associated macrophages (PLAMs). PLAMs have a high level of gene expression related to phago/endocytosis, lysosome, lipid metabolism and oxidative phosphorylation. Considering the protective function of lipid-associated macrophages against adipose tissue inflammation, PLAMs may suppress atherosclerotic inflammation by removing modified lipids and cell debris in the plaque.

Abstract
Objetivo. Determinar la evolución de la mortalidad por cáncer de pulmón en Colombia en el período 1985-2018 en la población de 35 años y más e identificar cambios en la tendencia. Métodos. Análisis de series temporales de mortalidad. Se calcularon las tasas específicas y estandarizadas por sexo y grupos de edad. Mediante la regresión joinpoint se estimó el porcentaje de cambio anual de las tasas y se identificaron puntos de cambio. Resultados. En el período 1985-2018 se registraron 105 553 muertes por cáncer de pulmón en la población de 35 años y más. Las tasas estandarizadas muestran una tendencia decreciente en el período 1985-2005, excepto en mayores de 64 años. Conclusiones. La tendencia de las tasas de mortalidad por cáncer de pulmón es decreciente en Colombia. Es necesario potenciar medidas de prevención primaria y secundaria sobre el consumo de tabaco y vigilar otros factores de riesgo como el radón residencial o la ocupación.

Abstract
PURPOSE In this study, the effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) on death anxiety and depression was investigated in patients with heart failure. DESIGN AND METHODS In this quasi-experimental study, 66 patients with heart failure were randomly assigned to intervention (n = 33) and control (n = 33) groups. Data collection was done using a demographic questionnaire, Templer death anxiety scale, and Beck depression inventory. FINDINGS It was found that the overall scores of death anxiety and depression in posttest were significantly lower than those at the follow-up stage in the intervention group. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS CBT could significantly reduce death anxiety and depression in patients with heart failure. Therefore, it is recommended to equip nurses with CBT trainings to manage patients with heart failure better.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Clinically describing hypertensive patients initiating nebivolol/zofenopril extemporaneous combination (NZ-EXC) and estimating the number of patients currently receiving NZ-EXC and of those potentially eligible for the fixed-dose combination of the two molecules (NZ-FDC) in Italy. METHODS This retrospective observational study used data from IQVIA Italian Longitudinal Patient Database (LPD). Adult hypertensive patients firstly prescribed NZ-EXC between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2020 were identified and their demographic and clinical characteristics were extracted. Treatment adherence was evaluated as proportion of days covered (PDC) and classified as low (PDC <40%), intermediate (PDC ≥40% and <80%) or high (PDC ≥80%). Two additional cohorts were identified in 2019 to provide the national-level yearly estimates of patients prescribed NZ-EXC and of patients eligible for NZ-FDC. RESULTS In total 1745 patients were prescribed NZ-EXC: 60% were women; mean age was 65 years. The most frequent comorbidities were dyslipidemia (19.0%), diabetes (15.5%) and thyroid diseases (13.1%); the most common co-prescribed treatments were antithrombotics (29.1%), lipid-lowering agents (28.8%), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (26.1%) and antihyperglycemic agents (13.5%). Mean PDC was 39%, and 57% of the patients had a PDC < 40%. The yearly estimate of patients prescribed NZ-EXC in 2019 was 59,000, while potential users of NZ-FDC were estimated to be 29,000. CONCLUSIONS NZ-EXC in hypertensive patients is a common practice in Italy and the development of a NZ-FDC can be a viable treatment option for hypertensive patients who are already receiving nebivolol and zofenopril through the concomitant assumption of two distinct pills. As supported by scientific literature, FDCs of antihypertensive drugs could simplify treatment, improve adherence and potentially reduce health-care costs as related to a better control of blood pressure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Psychologic wellbeing can impact cardiovascular health. We aimed to evaluate the joint association of multiple psychologic wellbeing factors with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and examine whether this association was modified by genetic susceptibility. METHODS In the UK Biobank, 126,255 participants free of CVD (coronary heart disease [CHD], stroke, and heart failure [HF]) at baseline, who completed a questionnaire on psychological factors, were included. The psychological wellbeing score was calculated by four factors: happiness, life satisfaction, broad depression, and neuroticism. Cox proportional hazard models were used to assess the association between the psychological wellbeing score and CVD risk. RESULTS During the median follow-up of 11.5 years, 10,815 participants had newly diagnosed CVDs. Low life satisfaction, the presence of depression, and neuroticism score ≥1 were significantly associated with an increased risk of CVD in the multivariable-adjusted model. Through decreasing the psychological wellbeing score, there were significant increasing linear trends in the risk of CVD, CHD, stroke, and HF (all p for trend < 0.001). Participants with the lowest psychological wellbeing score had the highest risk for CVD (HR 1.51, 95% CI 1.42-1.61). Women were more susceptible to worse psychological wellbeing status for CVD than men (p for interaction = 0.009). The associations of the psychological wellbeing score with CVD were consistent across genetic risk (p for interaction >0.05). When considered jointly, participants exposed to high-risk psychological wellbeing and genetic status had a 2.70-fold (95% CI 2.25-3.24) risk for CHD. CONCLUSIONS Joint exposure to multiple psychological wellbeing factors was associated with increased risks of incident CVD in an additive manner, regardless of genetic susceptibility.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Cardiometabolic disease (CMD) is the most common preventable cause of death in the world. A number of components are included in the spectrum of CMD, such as metabolic syndrome/obesity, hyperglycemia/diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, which are independently associated with cardiovascular disease risk. These conditions often occur together, and patients with cancer frequently undergo treatments that can generate or worsen CMD. This review highlights and presents mechanistic and epidemiological evidence regarding CMD in 4 categories of anticancer medications, namely, mTOR/PI3K-Akt inhibitors, multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor, immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, and endocrine therapy. Patients taking these medications need careful monitoring during therapy. There is a role for cardio-oncology and onco-primary care specialists in optimally managing patients at risk to mitigate CMD during treatment with these and other investigational anticancer medications.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In this article, authors report an inclusive discussion about the combinatorial approach for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and for counteracting the cardiovascular risk factors. The mentioned strategy was demonstrated to be useful for improving the efficacy of pharmacological treatments and in CVDs showed superior efficacy with respect to the classical monotherapeutic approach. AREAS COVERED According to this topic, authors analyzed the combinatorial treatments that are available on the market, highlighting clinical studies that demonstrated the efficacy of combinatorial drug strategies to cure CVDs and related risk factors. Furthermore, the review gives an outlook on the future perspective of this therapeutic option, highlighting novel drug targets and disease models that could help the future cardiovascular drug discovery. EXPERT OPINION The use of specifically designed and increasingly rational and effective drug combination therapies can therefore be considered the evolution of polypharmacy in cardiometabolic and CVDs. This approach can allow to intervene on multiple etiopathogenetic mechanisms of the disease or to act simultaneously on different pathologies/risk factors, using the combinations most suitable from a pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, and toxicological perspective, thus finding the most appropriate therapeutic option.

Abstract
Background Atherosclerosis being the keystone in the pathology of coronary artery disease (CAD) is a chronic inflammation of arterial intima mediated by various inflammatory markers. Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) are the two important biomarkers of chronic inflammation that causes atherosclerosis. Aims This study aims to investigate the association of serum PTX3 and hs-CRP with the severity of coronary stenosis in patients undergoing coronary angiogram. Subjects and Methods A total of 80 patients who underwent elective coronary angiogram were included. Their blood sample was collected for PTX3 and hs-CRP estimation prior to angiogram. Based on the angiogram, the participants were divided into four groups based on the number of arteries affected. PTX3 was estimated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and hs-CRP was assayed using latex-enhanced immunosorbent assay. Statistical Analysis Used Kruskal-Wallis test was used to find the association of PTX3 and hs-CRP in each group and Pearson's correlation was used to correlate PTX3 and hs-CRP with the extent of stenosis. Results The mean PTX3 and hs-CRP levels in patients with some lesions in the coronary artery were 231.5 ± 129.9 pg/mL and 2.4 ± 0.4 mg/mL, respectively. The PTX3 levels elevate gradually with the severity of stenosis with P = 0.000 which is highly significant. A strong positive correlation was observed (R = 0.7929, P < 0.00001) with PTX3 and severity of stenosis. Whereas, for hs-CRP, the correlation was weaker (R = 0.3011, P = 0.006). Conclusions PTX3 and hs-CRP can not only predict the number of arteries affected but also can differentiate between normal coronaries and CAD which can minimize the use of angiography.

Abstract
Carbohydrates are fundamental molecules involved in nearly all aspects of lives, such as being involved in formating the genetic and energy materials, supporting the structure of organisms, constituting invasion and host defense systems, and forming antibiotics secondary metabolites. The naturally occurring carbohydrates and their derivatives have been extensively studied as therapeutic agents for the treatment of various diseases. During 2000 to 2021, totally 54 carbohydrate-based drugs which contain carbohydrate moities as the major structural units have been approved as drugs or diagnostic agents. Here we provide a comprehensive review on the chemical structures, activities, and clinical trial results of these carbohydrate-based drugs, which are categorized by their indications into antiviral drugs, antibacterial/antiparasitic drugs, anticancer drugs, antidiabetics drugs, cardiovascular drugs, nervous system drugs, and other agents.

Abstract
Cardiomyopathy is a major cause of heart failure, leading to systolic and diastolic dysfunction and promoting adverse cardiac remodeling. Macrophages, as key immune cells of the heart, play a crucial role in inflammation and fibrosis. Moreover, exogenous and cardiac resident macrophages are functionally and phenotypically different during cardiac injury. Although experimental evidence has shown that macrophage-targeted therapy is promising in cardiomyopathy, clinical translation remains challenging. In this article, the molecular mechanism of macrophages in cardiomyopathy has been discussed in detail based on existing literature. The issues and considerations of clinical treatment strategies for myocardial fibrosis has also been analyzed.

Abstract
Bioactive compounds (bioactives) such as phenolic acids, coumarins, flavonoids, lignans and carotenoids have a marked improvement effect on human health by acting on body tissues or cells. Nowadays, with increasing levels of knowledge, consumers prefer foods that can provide bioactives beside the necessary nutrients (e.g., vitamins, essential fatty acids and minerals). However, an important barrier for incorporating bioactives into foods is their low thermal stability. Nevertheless, thermal processing is widely used by the food industries to achieve food safety and desired texture. The aim of this work is to give an overview of encapsulation technology to improve thermal stability of bioactives incorporated into different food products. Almost all thermal analysis and non-thermal methods in the literature suggest that incorporation of bioactives into different walls can effectively improve the thermal stability of bioactives. The level of such thermal enhancement depends on the strength of the bioactive interaction and wall molecules. Furthermore, contradictory results have been reported in relation to the effect of encapsulation technique using the same wall on thermal stability of bioactives. To date, the potential to increase the thermal resistance of various bioactives by gums, carbohydrates, and proteins have been extensively studied. However, further studies on the comparison of walls and encapsulation methods to form thermally stable carriers seem to be needed. In this regard, the same nature of bioactives and the specific protocol in the report of study results should be considered to compare the data and select the optimum conditions of encapsulation to achieve maximum thermal stability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients diagnosed with cervical cancer in the last 2 decades were mainly young females. Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is the most radical way to prevent HPV infection and cervical cancer. However, most female college students in mainland China have not yet been vaccinated, and their relevant knowledge is limited. Theory-based education delivered via the internet is a potentially accessible and useful way to promote HPV vaccination among this population. OBJECTIVE This 3-month follow-up study intended to identify the feasibility and efficacy of an information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model-based online intervention for promoting awareness and willingness regarding HPV vaccination among female college students. METHODS A 7-day online HPV education program for female college students in mainland China was developed using a cluster randomized trial design. Recruitment and questionnaire surveys were performed online without face-to-face contact. SPSS 23.0 was used for statistical analysis. The chi-square test and t test were used to compare differences in qualitative and continuous variables between intervention and control groups. The generalized estimating equation was used to test the effectiveness of the intervention with a consideration of the time factor. RESULTS Among 3867 participants, 102 had been vaccinated against HPV before the study (vaccination rate of 2.6%). A total of 3484 participants were followed up after the baseline survey, with no statistical difference in the loss rate between the intervention and control groups during the intervention and follow-up periods. At different follow-up time points, HPV-related knowledge, and the motivation, behavioral skills, and willingness regarding HPV vaccination were higher in the intervention group than in the control group. HPV-related knowledge was statistically different between the 2 groups, while the motivation, behavioral skills, and willingness regarding HPV vaccination only showed statistical differences right after the intervention, reaching a peak right after the intervention and then gradually reducing over time. Furthermore, there was no statistical difference in the HPV vaccination rate between the 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS IMB model-based online education could be a promising way to increase the HPV vaccination rate and reduce the burden of HPV infection and cervical cancer among high-risk female college students in China. Abstract
Introduction Pediatric acute pancreatitis (PAP) has an increasing incidence and is now estimated to be almost as common as in adults. Up to 30% of patients with PAP will develop moderate or severe disease course (M/SPAP), characterized by organ failure, local or systemic complications. There is still no consensus regarding on-admission severity prediction in these patients. Our aim was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of available predictive score systems and parameters, and differences between on-admission parameters in mild and M/SPAP. Methods We conducted a systematic search on the 14th February, 2022 in MEDLINE, Embase and CENTRAL. We performed random-effects meta-analysis of on-admission differences between mild and M/SPAP in laboratory parameters, etiology, demographic factors, etc. calculating risk ratios (RR) or mean differences (MD) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and created forest plots. For the meta-analysis of predictive score systems, we generated hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristic curves using a bivariate model. Chi-squared tests were performed and I2 values calculated to assess statistical heterogeneity. Results We included 44 studies - mostly retrospective cohorts - in our review. Among predictive score systems examined by at least 5 studies, the modified Glasgow scale had the highest specificity (91.5% for values ≥3), and the Pediatric Acute Pancreatitis Severity score the highest sensitivity (63.1% for values ≥3). The performance of other proposed score systems and values were summarized. Traumatic (RR: 1.70 95% CI: 1.09-2.67) and drug-induced (RR: 1.33 95% CI: 0.98-1.87) etiologies were associated with a higher rate of M/SPAP, while anatomical (RR: 0.6195% CI: 0.38-0.96) and biliary (RR: 0.72 95% CI: 0.53-0.99) PAP tended to be less severe. Discussion Many predictive score systems were proposed to assess the possibility of M/SPAP course. The most commonly used ones exhibit good specificity, but subpar sensitivity. Our systematic review provides a rigorous overview of predictive options assessed thus far, that can serve as a basis for future improvement of scores via the addition of parameters with a better observed sensitivity: e.g., lipase exceeding 7-times the upper threshold, hemoglobin, etc. The addition of etiological factors is another possibility, as they can herald a more severe disease course. Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is currently one of the most important diseases causing death in China and the world, and acute myocardial infarction is a major cause of cardiovascular disease. This study provides an analytical technique for predicting the prognosis of patients with severe acute myocardial infarction using a support vector machine (SVM) technique based on information gleaned from electronic medical records in the Medical Information Marketplace for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-III database. The MIMIC-III database provided 4785 electronic medical records data for inclusion in the model development after screening 7070 electronic medical records of patients admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment of acute myocardial infarction. Adopting the APS-III score as the criterion for identifying anticipated risk, the dimensions of data information incorporated into the mathematical model design were found using correlation coefficient matrix heatmaps and ordered logistic analysis. An automated prognostic risk-prediction model was developed using SVM, and the fit was evaluated by 5× cross-validation. We used a grid search method to further optimize the parameters and improve the model fit. The excellent generalization ability of SVM was fully verified by calculating the 95% confidence interval of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) for six algorithms (linear discriminant, tree, Kernel Naive Bayes, RUSBoost, KNN, and SVM). Compared to the remaining five models, its confidence interval was the narrowest with higher fitting accuracy and better performance. The patient prognostic risk prediction model constructed using SVM had a relatively impressive accuracy (92.2%) and AUC value (0.98). In this study, a model was designed for fitting that can maximize the potential information to be gleaned in the electronic medical records data. It was demonstrated that SVM models based on electronic medical records data can offer an effective solution for clinical disease prognostic risk assessment and improved clinical outcomes and have great potential for clinical application in the clinical treatment of myocardial infarction.

Abstract
People with tuberculosis (TB) are at risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. We estimated the prevalence of cardiovascular risk (CVR) factors among people with active TB in Africa. This was a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies from Africa. We searched EMBASE, MEDLINE through PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, mRCTs, Clinical trials.gov, and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform from inception to 31st December 2021. Among 110 eligible studies, 79 (238,316 participants) were included in the meta-analysis for smoking, 67 (52,793 participants) for current alcohol use, 30 (31,450 participants) for hazardous alcohol use, 51 (37,879 participants) for diabetes mellitus (DM), 19 (18,211 participants) for hypertension and 18 (13,910 participants) for obesity. The pooled prevalence was 26.0% (95% confidence interval 22.0–29.0) for smoking, 30.0% (25.0–35.0) for any current alcohol use, 21.0% (17.0–26.0) for hazardous alcohol use, 14.0% (9.0–18.0) for hypertension, 7.0% (6.0–9.0) for DM, and 4.0% (2.0–5.0) for obesity. Cost-effective strategies are needed to screen for CVR factors among people with active TB in Africa.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Over the past decade, the incidence and global burden of coronary heart disease (CHD) have increased in the young population. We aimed to identify patient characteristics and risk factors for premature CHD, including single-vessel disease (SVD) and multivessel disease (MVD). DESIGN Retrospective, cross-sectional study. SETTING Demographic and clinical data of patients with CHD were collected from the patient medical records of a tertiary hospital in Tianjin, China, between 2014 and 2017. PARTICIPANTS A total of 2846 patients were enrolled in the study. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES Premature CHD, which is the primary outcome, was defined as men<45 years and women<55 years. MVD, which is the secondary outcome, was defined as at least two vessels with ≥50% stenosis. Logistic regression models were applied to analyse the characteristics and risk factors of premature CHD and MVD. RESULTS Most of the characteristics between patients with premature and mature CHD were not statistically significant. A significantly higher dyslipidaemia prevalence was found in female patients with premature CHD (OR=1.412, 95% CI: 1.029 to 1.936). In the crude model, instead of premature SVD, premature (OR=2.065, 95% CI: 1.426 to 2.991) or mature (OR=1.837, 95% CI: 1.104 to 3.056) MVD was more common in female patients with the highest triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index quartile than those with the lowest TyG index quartile. In male patients, the same trend was observed for mature MVD (OR=2.272, 95% CI: 1.312 to 3.937). The significance of the TyG index was not revealed in multivariate analyses; however, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking, old myocardial infarction and lipoprotein (a) showed a positive association with MVD. CONCLUSIONS Dyslipidaemia should be considered as an effective factor for the prediction and prevention of premature CHD in women. The TyG index can be a simple auxiliary indicator that can be used in population-based cardiovascular disease screening for the early identification of vascular disease severity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Lung function and grip strength (GS) are associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD), but whether these risk factors interact to affect CVD is unknown. This study aimed to explore the interactions between lung function and GS with major CVD (defined as fatal/non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, and heart failure) incidence. METHODS We conducted a prospective cohort study on the Chinese population in Jiangsu Province. Cox proportional hazards models were used to explore the associations between GS, lung function, and major CVD incidence. RESULTS A total of 5967 participants were included in our study; among them, 182 participants developed major CVD. Participants with low forced vital capacity (FVC) had a higher risk of major CVD (hazard ratio (HR) = 1.45; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.05-2.01; P < 0.05) compared with normal FVC. The risk of major CVD incidence (HR = 0.54; 95% CI: 0.35-0.83; P < 0.01) was significantly lower in participants with high GS than in individuals with low GS. The interaction between FVC and GS for major CVD incidence (P = 0.006) was statistically significant. Compared with normal FVC participants with high GS, low FVC participants with low GS had the highest risk of major CVD incidence (HR = 2.50; 95% CI: 1.43-4.36; P < 0.01). CONCLUSION Among people with low FVC, the risk of major CVD is lower with high GS. Participants with low FVC and low GS have the highest risk of major CVD. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the incidence of major CVD in individuals with low FVC, especially those who have lower GS.

Abstract
Background Current studies on the protective effects of dietary spermidine (SPD) on cardiovascular disease (CVD) are mainly limited to animal studies, and the relationship between dietary SPD and CVD mortality remains inconclusive. Objective This study aims to evaluate the association between dietary SPD intake and CVD and all-cause mortality. Methods A total of 23,894 people enrolled in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2003 to 2014 were recruited for this study. The dietary intake of SPD from 11 specific food origins and total SPD was categorized into tertiles or quartiles. Cox proportional hazard regression models were developed to evaluate the association of SPD intake with CVD and all-cause mortalities. Results Among the 23,894 participants, 2,365 deaths, including 736 deaths due to CVD, were documented. After adjustment for potential confounders, compared with participants in the lowest quartile, participants in the highest quartile of total SPD had a significantly lower risk of CVD mortality (HR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.51-0.91) and all-cause mortality (HR = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.60-0.82); participants in the highest tertiles or quartiles of vegetable-derived SPD, cereal-derived SPD, legume-derived SPD, nut-derived SPD, and cheese-derived SPD had a lower risk of CVD mortality (HR vegetable - derivedSPD = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.54-0.86; HR cereal - derivedSPD = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.57-0.97; HR legume - derivedSPD = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.52-0.88; HR nut - derivedSPD = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.53-0.80; HR cheese - derivedSPD = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.52-0.88) and all-cause mortality (HR vegetable - derivedSPD = 0.73, 95% CI: 0.64-0.84; HR cereal - derivedSPD = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.69-0.93; HR legume - derivedSPD = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.60-0.80;HR nut - derivedSPD = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.64-0.81; HR cheese - derivedSPD = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.61-0.81) than those in the lowest tertiles or quartiles. Moreover, subgroup analysis showed consistent associations among the people with hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Conclusion Higher intake of dietary SPD is associated with decreased risk of CVD and all-cause mortality, and among specific food origin SPD, SPD derived from vegetables, cereals, legumes, nuts, and cheese was associated with reduced CVD and all-cause mortality.

Abstract
Aim The increase in empty-nest elderly individuals with chronic diseases poses a major challenge to the provision of public health services in China. Telenursing can effectively relieve the pressure of public health services to a certain extent. This study aims to explore the telenursing needs of empty-nest elderly individuals with chronic diseases based on the Kano model to provide references for improving the quality of telenursing. Methods Participants were selected from five rural communities and five urban communities in Yangzhou and Nantong, Jiangsu Province, China. A total of 348 empty-nest elderly individuals with chronic diseases were included. The participants received a sociodemographic characteristics questionnaire, and their telenursing needs were surveyed and analyzed based on the Kano model. Results Of the 15 quality attributes evaluated by the participants, 3 telenursing services were categorized as "must-be quality", 5 were categorized as "one-dimensional quality", 5 were categorized as "attractive quality", and 2 were categorized as "indifferent quality". The proportion of individuals who desired telenursing services ranged from 47.41 to 83.62%, the better values (satisfaction) ranged from 35.29-83.98%, and the worse values (dissatisfaction) ranged from 10.91 to 63.27%. There were no significant differences in any items of telenursing needs for between participants in Yangzhou and Nantong (all P > 0.05), and there were also no significant differences in all items between rural and urban communities (all P > 0.05). Conclusion Based on the Kano model, it was found that empty-nest elderly individuals with chronic diseases had a positive attitude toward telenursing and that they had different levels of need for different telenursing services. These findings provided a theoretical basis for medical decision-makers to formulate medical policies and provided a scientific foundation for nursing managers to improve telenursing services to meet the needs of the empty-nest elderly individuals with chronic diseases.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze the differential expression of lipid spectrum between ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) and patients with emergency chest pain and excluded coronary artery disease (CAD), and establish the predictive model which could predict STEMI in the early stage. METHODS We conducted a single-center, nested case-control study using the emergency chest pain cohort of Peking University Third Hospital. Untargeted lipidomics were conducted while LASSO regression as well as XGBoost combined with greedy algorithm were used to select lipid molecules. RESULTS Fifty-two STEMI patients along with 52 controls were enrolled. A total of 1925 lipid molecules were detected. There were 93 lipid molecules in the positive ion mode which were differentially expressed between the STEMI and the control group, while in the negative ion mode, there were 73 differentially expressed lipid molecules. In the positive ion mode, the differentially expressed lipid subclasses were mainly diacylglycerol (DG), lysophophatidylcholine (LPC), acylcarnitine (CAR), lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine (LPE), and phosphatidylcholine (PC), while in the negative ion mode, significantly expressed lipid subclasses were mainly free fatty acid (FA), LPE, PC, phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), and phosphatidylinositol (PI). LASSO regression selected 22 lipids while XGBoost combined with greedy algorithm selected 10 lipids. PC (15: 0/18: 2), PI (19: 4), and LPI (20: 3) were the overlapping lipid molecules selected by the two feature screening methods. Logistic model established using the three lipids had excellent performance in discrimination and calibration both in the derivation set (AUC: 0.972) and an internal validation set (AUC: 0.967). In 19 STEMI patients with normal cardiac troponin, 18 patients were correctly diagnosed using lipid model. CONCLUSIONS The differentially expressed lipids were mainly DG, CAR, LPC, LPE, PC, PI, PE, and FA. Using lipid molecules selected by XGBoost combined with greedy algorithm and LASSO regression to establish model could accurately predict STEMI even in the more earlier stage.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death across the world. For decades, researchers have been studying the causes of cardiovascular disease, yet many of them remain undiscovered or poorly understood. Network medicine is a recently expanding, integrative field that attempts to elucidate this issue by conceiving of disease as the result of disruptive links between multiple interconnected biological components. Still in its nascent stages, this revolutionary application of network science facilitated a number of important discoveries in complex disease mechanisms. As methodologies become more advanced, network medicine harbors the potential to expound on the molecular and genetic complexities of disease to differentiate how these intricacies govern disease manifestations, prognosis, and therapy. This is of paramount importance for confronting the incredible challenges of current and future cardiovascular disease research. In this review, we summarize the principal molecular and genetic mechanisms of common cardiac pathophysiologies as well as discuss the existing knowledge on therapeutic strategies to prevent, halt, or reverse these pathologies.

Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are closely associated with dysfunction of vascular endothelial cells (VECs), which can be influenced by various intrinsic and extrinsic factors, including fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21), but the effects of serum FGF21 on VECs remain unclear. We performed a cross-sectional study nested within a prospective cohort to assess the range of physiological concentrations of fasting serum FGF21 in 212 healthy individuals. We also treated human umbilical VECs (HUVECs) with recombinant FGF21 at different concentrations. The effects of FGF21 treatment on glycolysis, nitric oxide release and reduction of intracellular reactive oxygen species were assessed. The cells were also collected for RNA transcriptomic sequencing to investigate the potential mechanisms induced by FGF21 treatment. In addition, the roles of SIRT1 in the regulation of FGF21 were evaluated by SIRT1 knockdown. The results showed that the serum FGF21 concentration in healthy individuals ranged from 15.70 to 499.96 pg/mL and was positively correlated with age and pulse wave velocity. FGF21 at 400 pg/mL was sufficient to enhance glycolysis, increase nitric oxide release and protect cells from H2O2-induced oxidative damage. The upregulated genes after FGF21 treatment were mostly enriched in metabolic pathways, whereas the downregulated genes were mostly enriched in inflammation and apoptosis signaling pathways. Moreover, SIRT1 may be involved in the regulation of some genes by FGF21. In conclusion, our data indicate that FGF21 at a level within the physiological concentration range has a beneficial effect on HUVECs and that this effect may partly depend on the regulation of SIRT1.

Abstract
Background In the context of global climate changes, increasing extreme weather events have aroused great public concern. Limited evidence has focused on the association between extreme precipitation and hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Our study aimed to examine the effect of extreme precipitation on AMI hospitalizations. Methods Daily AMI hospitalizations, weather variables and air pollution data in Beijing from 2013 to 2018 were obtained. We used a time-series analysis with a distributed lag model to evaluate the association of extreme precipitation (≥95th percentile of daily precipitation) with AMI hospitalizations. Subgroup analysis was conducted to identify the vulnerable subpopulations and further assessed the attributable burden. Results Extreme precipitation increased the risk of AMI hospitalizations with significant single-day effects from Lag 4 to Lag 11, and the maximum cumulative effects at Lag 0-14 (CRR = 1.177, 95% CI: 1.045, 1.326). Older people (≥65 years) and females were more vulnerable to extreme precipitation. The attributable fraction and numbers of extreme precipitation on AMI hospitalizations were 0.68% (95% CI: 0.20%, 1.12%) and 854 (95% CI: 244, 1,395), respectively. Conclusion Extreme precipitation is correlated with a higher risk of AMI hospitalizations. The elderly (≥65 years) and females are more susceptible to AMI triggered by extreme precipitation.

Abstract
According to most scientific studies, media and governments, the white trails that can be seen behind aircraft in flight, corresponding to condensation mixed with engine particulate emissions, only persist under specific atmospheric conditions. They are called condensation trails, and cirrus contrails when they remain for hours to reach several kilometers wide. The fact that they have gradually filled the skies over the last twenty years would be due to the increase in air traffic. However, other official documents link these persistent trails to a weather modification technology called solar geoengineering by stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI). These sprays would be mainly composed of metallic particles (Al, Ba, Sr, Fe, nanoparticles) and sulfur, which would considerably increase air, soil and water pollution. Many of the current environmental and health problems are consistent with those described in the literature on solar geoengineering by SAI if this method was employed. For example, metal particles used are well known environmental contaminants, ozone layer depletion, cardiorespiratory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, sunburn. The observations (whiter skies, less solar power) also correspond to the same risks as those described in the solar geoengineering works. Patents show that this weather modification technology has been known and mastered for a long time. In addition, some scientific papers as well as policy documents suggest that solar geoengineering by SAI has been used for many years. The amount of official information presented in this review is intended to open new ways of investigation, free of conflicts of interest, about the growing global pollution of persistent aircraft trails and their possible links with solar geoengineering by SAI.

Abstract
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) convened a workshop of international experts to discuss new research opportunities for the prevention, detection, and intervention of myocarditis in May 2021. These experts reviewed the current state of science and identified key gaps and opportunities in basic, diagnostic, translational, and therapeutic frontiers to guide future research in myocarditis. In addition to addressing community-acquired myocarditis, the workshop also focused on emerging causes of myocarditis including immune checkpoint inhibitors and SARS-CoV-2 related myocardial injuries and considered the use of systems biology and artificial intelligence methodologies to define workflows to identify novel mechanisms of disease and new therapeutic targets. A new priority is the investigation of the relationship between social determinants of health (SDoH), including race and economic status, and inflammatory response and outcomes in myocarditis. The result is a proposal for the reclassification of myocarditis that integrates the latest knowledge of immunological pathogenesis to refine estimates of prognosis and target pathway-specific treatments.

Abstract
Infections caused by multi-drug-resistant bacteria in patients with chronic diseases have been associated with high mortality and morbidity. While few reports have evaluated bacterial infections in multiple chronic disease patients, the focus of the current study was to investigate the prevalence of bacterial infections and the susceptibility profiles of causative strains among various groups of patients suffering from chronic diseases. Microbiological reports of patients suffering from cancer, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and skin burns were retrospectively collected from a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia. Approximately 54.2% of recruited patients were males, and positive urine was the most prevalent specimen associated with kidney disease patients (25%). Escherichia coli isolates were predominant among cardiovascular, kidney, and cancer patients. Staphylococcus aureus was commonly detected in diabetics and those with burns. Although resistance patterns varied based on the type of specimens and underlying diseases, Escherichia coli showed limited resistance to colistin, carbapenems, and tigecycline, while S. aureus demonstrated susceptibility to ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and rifampin. These observations are crucial for clinicians and policymakers to ensure effective treatment plans and improve outcomes in these patients with comorbidity.

Abstract
Surgical revascularization is the gold standard in most cases of complex coronary artery disease. For coronary artery bypass grafting, autologous grafts are state-of-the-art due to their long-term patency. A non-negligible amount of patients lack suitable bypass material as a result of concomitant diseases or previous interventions. As a promising alternative, tissue-engineered vascular grafts made of biomaterials such as bacterial cellulose (BC) are gaining more and more attention. However, the production of small-diameter grafts (inner diameter < 6 mm) of application-oriented length (> 5 cm) and their in vivo long-term patency remain challenging. In this study, grafts of 20 cm in length with an inner diameter of 3 mm were generated in a custom-made bioreactor. To potentially improve graft compliance and, therefore in vivo patency, BC was combined with an embedded cobalt–chromium mesh. The grafts were designed for in vivo endothelialization and specific surgical properties and implanted as an aortocoronary bypass in a left anterior descending occluded pig model (n = 8). Coronary angiography showed complete patency postoperatively at 4 weeks. Following 4 weeks in vivo, the grafts were explanted revealing a three-layered wall structure. Grafts were colonized by smooth muscle cells and a luminal layer of endothelial cells with early formation of vasa privata indicating functional remodeling. These encouraging findings in a large animal model reveal the great potential of small-diameter BC grafts for coronary and peripheral bypass grafting.

Abstract
(1) Background: Infection control should be one of the main objectives in the comprehensive medical approach. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from June-July 2022. A questionnaire including 22 questions with multiple answers was applied online to 202 subjects selected at random. The questionnaire collected data on the subjects' knowledge about protective measures against airborne infections. For this study, a descriptive statistic was performed. Pearson's Chi-square test was used for data comparison. (3) Results: Only 61.39% (124) of the subjects consider that protective equipment is mandatory for the dental team, 40.10% (81) know to a very large extent and 44.06% (89) to a large extent that when talking, a respiratory infection can be transmitted. A rather large percentage of the subjects take into account the cost of the protective mask to a very large extent 39.60% (80). Only 30.20% (61) of the subjects would vaccinate to a very large extent and 24.75% (50) to a large extent against micro-organisms transmitted by air p > 0.05. (4) Conclusions: Most people know the aspects related to air decontamination, the priority being the promotion of control methods of airborne infections, and it is necessary to improve the level of knowledge on a large scale within the population.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is anticipated to remain the leading cause of death globally. Due to the current problems connected with using autologous arteries for bypass surgery, researchers are developing tissue-engineered vascular grafts (TEVGs). The major goal of vascular tissue engineering is to construct prostheses that closely resemble native blood vessels in terms of morphological, mechanical, and biological features so that these scaffolds can satisfy the functional requirements of the native tissue. In this setting, morphology and cellular investigation are usually prioritized, while mechanical qualities are generally addressed superficially. However, producing grafts with good mechanical properties similar to native vessels is crucial for enhancing the clinical performance of vascular grafts, exposing physiological forces, and preventing graft failure caused by intimal hyperplasia, thrombosis, aneurysm, blood leakage, and occlusion. The scaffold's design and composition play a significant role in determining its mechanical characteristics, including suturability, compliance, tensile strength, burst pressure, and blood permeability. Electrospun prostheses offer various models that can be customized to resemble the extracellular matrix. This review aims to provide a comprehensive and comparative review of recent studies on the mechanical properties of fibrous vascular grafts, emphasizing the influence of structural parameters on mechanical behavior. Additionally, this review provides an overview of permeability and cell growth in electrospun membranes for vascular grafts. This work intends to shed light on the design parameters required to maintain the mechanical stability of vascular grafts placed in the body to produce a temporary backbone and to be biodegraded when necessary, allowing an autologous vessel to take its place.

The Level of Remnant Cholesterol and Implications for Lipid-Lowering Strategy in Hospitalized Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome in China: Findings from the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-Acute Coronary Syndrome Project. Abstract
Elevated remnant cholesterol is associated with an increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). We aimed to evaluate the concentrations and general distribution of remnant cholesterol at admission in patients hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and those in patients who reached the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) target or non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) target. Patients with ACS who were enrolled in the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China—ACS project from 2014 to 2019 were included. Elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations were defined as ≥1.0 mmol/L. Among 94,869 patients, the median (interquartile range) remnant cholesterol concentration at admission was 0.6 mmol/L (0.4−0.9 mmol/L) and 19.2% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations. Among patients with LDL-C concentrations < 1.4 mmol/L, 24.4% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations, while the proportion was 13.3% among patients with LDL-C concentrations between 1.4 and 1.7 mmol/L. Among patients with non-HDL-C concentrations < 2.6 mmol/L, 2.9% had elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations but 79.6% had LDL-C concentrations ≥ 1.4 mmol/L. Even among patients with LDL-C < 1.4 mmol/L and non-HDL-C < 2.6 mmol/L, 10.9% had elevated remnant cholesterol. In conclusion, one fifth of patients with ACS have elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations at admission. Elevated remnant cholesterol concentrations are present in patients with LDL-C or/and non-HDL-C concentrations within the target, which represents an unmet need to add remnant cholesterol as a target for the secondary prevention of ASCVD.

Abstract
Simple Summary Taraxasterol (TAX) demonstrates strong pharmacological activity in some diseases. In this study, we demonstrate that TAX induces S-phase cell cycle arrest, prevents cell migration by interfering EMT, and induces cancer cell apoptosis. In addition, TAX administration downregulated the proportion of Treg cells and upregulated CD107a + NK cells in TME. Our in vitro and in vivo findings indicate that TAX could serve as a potential natural drug for lung cancer therapy. Abstract Taraxasterol (TAX), one of the active components in Dandelion, demonstrated strong antitumor properties in several cancers. However, the effect and underlying mechanism of TAX in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is unclear. In this study, we showed that TAX inhibited the proliferation of cells by inducing S-phase cell cycle arrest and prevented cell migration by interfering epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in Lewis lung cancer (LLC) cells and lung carcinoma SPC-A1 cells. The pharmacological network analysis predicted that induction of apoptosis might be the potential mechanism of TAX-mediated cell deaths. Further in vitro experiments showed that TAX could significantly induce cancer cell apoptosis as verified by increased pro-apoptotic molecules including Bax, caspase-9, and PARP1 downregulated anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2; and decreased mitochondrial potential. The LLC subcutaneous tumor model demonstrated that TAX inhibited tumor growth by induction of apoptosis and inhibition of proliferation in vivo, which is consistent with the in vitro data. Importantly, TAX administration downregulated the proportion of Treg cells and upregulated CD107a+ NK cells in the tumor microenvironment in the tumor model. Together, these data reveal that TAX performs its antitumor effect by inducing apoptosis and modulating the tumor microenvironment, providing evidence that TAX could serve as a potential natural drug for lung cancer therapy.

Abstract
In China, despite the rapid increase in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs), cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is just burgeoning, leaving a need for comprehensive evidence-based education curricula. This pilot study assessed the acceptability of Simplified Chinese CR education delivered via booklets and videos on WeChat asynchronously and the impact on improving knowledge, risk factors, health behaviors and quality of life. In this pre-post, controlled, observational study, interested PCI patients received the 12-week intervention or usual care and WeChat without education. Participants completed validated surveys, including the Coronary Artery Disease Education-Questionnaire and Self-Management Scale. Acceptability (14 Likert-type items), engagement (minutes per week) and satisfaction were assessed in intervention participants. Ninety-six patients consented to participate (n = 49 intervention), of which 66 (68.8%) completed the follow-up assessments. Twenty-seven (77.1%) retained intervention participants engaged with the materials, rating content as highly acceptable (all means ≥4/5) and satisfactory (2.19 ± 0.48/3); those engaging more with the intervention were significantly more satisfied (P = 0.03). While participants in both groups achieved some improvements, only intervention participants had significant increases in disease-related knowledge, reductions in body mass index and triglycerides, as well as improvements in diet (all P < 0.05). In this first study validating the recently translated CR patient education intervention, acceptability and benefits have been supported.

Abstract
Many factors contribute to mortality in lung cancer, including the presence of concomitant cardiovascular disease. In the treatment of early stage of lung cancer, the presence of comorbidities and occurence of cardiotoxicity may be prognostic. The effect of cardiotoxicity of radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy on overall survival has been documented. Acute arterial and venous thromboembolic events seem to correlate with the degree of the histological malignancy, its clinical advancement, and even with optimal cardiac treatment, they may influence the survival time. In the case of high-grade and advanced lung cancer stage especially in an unresectable stadium, the prognosis depends primarily on the factors related to the histopathological and molecular diagnosis. Electrocardiographic and echocardiographic abnormalities may be prognostic factors, as they seem to correlate with the patient's performance status as well as tumor localization and size.
