Abstract
BACKGROUND Renal microcirculation plays a pivotal role in kidney function by maintaining structural and functional integrity, facilitating oxygen and nutrient delivery, and waste removal. However, a thorough bibliometric analysis in this area remains lacking. Therefore, we aim to provide valuable insights through a bibliometric analysis of renal microcirculation literature using the Web of Science database. METHODS We collected renal microcirculation-related publications from the Web of Science database from January 01, 1990, to December 31, 2022. The co-authorship of authors, organizations, and countries/regions was analyzed with VOSviewer1.6.18. The co-occurrence of keywords and co-cited references were analyzed using CiteSpace6.1.R6 software to generate visualization maps. Additionally, burst detection was applied to keywords and cited references to forecast research hotspots and future trends. RESULTS Our search yielded 7462 publications, with the American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology contributing the most articles. The United States, Mayo Clinic, and Lerman Lilach O emerged with the highest publication count, indicating their active collaborations. 'Type 2 diabetes' was the most significant keyword cluster, and 'diabetic kidney disease' was the largest cluster of cited references. 'Cardiovascular outcome' and 'diabetic kidney diseases' were identified as keywords in their burst period over the past three years. CONCLUSION Our bibliometric analysis illuminates the contours of nephrology and microcirculation research, revealing a landscape ripe for challenges and the seeds of future scientific innovation. While the trends discerned from the literature emerging opportunities in diagnostic innovation, renal microcirculation research, and precision medicine interventions, their translation to clinical practice is anticipated to be a deliberate process.

Abstract
The rise of immunotherapy provided new approaches to cancer treatment. We aimed to describe the contribution of chimeric antigen receptor T cell immunotherapy to future prospects. We analyzed 8035 articles from the Web of Science Core Collection with CiteSpace that covered with various aspects with countries, institutions, authors, co-cited authors, journals, keywords, and references. The USA was the most prolific country, with the University of Pennsylvania being the most published institution. Among individual authors, June Carl H published the most articles, while Maude SL was the most frequently co-cited author. "Blood" emerged as the most cited journal. Keyword clustering revealed six core themes: "Expression," "Chimeric Antigen Receptor," "Tumor Microenvironment," "Blinatumomab," "Multiple Myeloma," and "Cytokine Release Syndrome." In the process of researching the timeline chart of keywords and references, "Large B-cell lymphoma" was located on the right side of the timeline. In the keyword prominence analysis, we found that the keywords "biomarkers," "pd-1," "antibody drug conjugate," "BCMA," and "chimeric antigen" had high explosive intensity in the recent past. We found that in terms of related diseases, "large B-cell lymphoma" and "cytokine release syndrome" are still difficult problems in the future. In the study of therapeutic methods, "BCMA," "PD-1," "chimeric antigen," and "antibody drug conjugate" deserve more attention from researchers in the future.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have gained substantial attention in regenerative medicine due to their multilineage differentiation potential and immunomodulatory capabilities. MSCs have demonstrated therapeutic promise in numerous preclinical and clinical studies across a variety of diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune conditions. Recently, priming MSCs has emerged as a novel strategy to enhance their therapeutic efficacy by preconditioning them for optimal survival and function in challenging in vivo environments. This study presented a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research activity in the field of priming mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from 2003 to 2023. Utilizing a dataset of 585 documents, we explored research trends, leading authors and countries, productive journals, and frequently used keywords. We also explored priming strategies to augment the therapeutic efficacy of MSCs. Our findings show increasing research productivity with a peak in 2019, identified the United States as the leading contributor, and highlighted WANG JA as the most prolific author. The most published journal was Stem Cell Research & Therapy. Keyword analysis revealed core research areas emerging hotspots, while coword and cited sources visualizations elucidated the conceptual framework and key information sources. Further studies are crucial to advance the translation of primed MSCs from bench to bedside, potentially revolutionizing the landscape of regenerative medicine.

Abstract
Background The research field of stem cell-based therapies in orthopaedics has witnessed significant growth in the recent past. We aimed to identify and analyze the bibliometric characteristics of the global highly cited papers (HCPs) in stem cell research in orthopaedics. Methods This study relied on secondary data extracted from Scopus, Elsevier's abstract and citation database. An advanced search string was employed, for the period from 1995 to 2020. For each paper, the extracted information included the number of citations, title, authors (name, number, authorship position, and country), year of publication, title of the journals, study design, and thematic field. The VOSviewer (1.6.20) was used to uncover relationships between authors, institutions, keywords, and publications. Results There were a total of 1427 publications and out of these 186 papers had 100 or more citations (range 100-2644) and were considered as HCPs. The average citation per paper (CPP) was 265.8. Only 4% of the top HCPs contributed 20% of the total citations of all HCPs. All the HCPs were published from high-income countries, and the USA was the leading country in all aspects of publication on stem cell research. Méndez-Ferrer S registered the highest citation (n = 2644), Prockop DJ was the most prolific author (n = 8 papers), and Harvard Medical School, USA emerged as the most prolific organization with 12 HCPs. Conclusion Global research in stem cell therapies for orthopaedic problems is making strides, and is an emerging field of research. Stem cell research offers the potential for improved treatment outcomes for various musculoskeletal conditions. Abstract
Purpose To analyze and compare clinical research trends and hot topics in allergic rhinitis (AR) and asthma and provide valuable theoretical data and references for future research. Methods Clinical studies focusing on AR or asthma published from 2013 to 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Eligible articles were screened and analyzed using bibliometrics from multiple indicators. Results A total of 261 eligible articles on AR and 991 qualified articles on asthma were screened. The following bibliometric analyses identified the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology as the most influential publication on AR and asthma and proved the significant contributions of Harvard University in clinical studies on AR and asthma. The analyses also revealed that the top ten prolific authors for AR were from China, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany, whereas the top ten productive authors for asthma were mainly from the USA. Collaborations among countries for AR were relatively concentrated in the Occident, whereas international cooperation on asthma was mainly achieved by the Occident and certain Eastern countries. Conclusions This study compared and analyzed the current status and evolution of AR and asthma-related clinical research using bibliometric analysis. Additionally, the study comprehensively summarized the impactful authors, institutions, and countries, and revealed the replacement and evolution of hotspots.

Abstract
Radiation pneumonia is a common adverse reaction during radiotherapy in lung cancer patients, which negatively impacts the quality of life and survival of patients. Recent studies have shown that compound Kushen injection (CKI), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has great anti-inflammatory and anticancer potential, but the mechanism is still unclear. We used CiteSpace, the R package "bibliometrix," and VOSviewers to perform a bibliometrics analysis of 162 articles included from the Web of Science core collection. A network pharmacology-based approach was used to screen effective compounds, screen and predict target genes, analyze biological functions and pathways, and construct regulatory networks and protein interaction networks. Molecular docking experiments were used to identify the affinity of key compounds and core target. The literature metrology analysis revealed that over 90% of the CKI-related studies were conducted by Chinese scholars and institutions, with a predominant focus on tumors, while research on radiation pneumonia remained limited. Our investigation identified 60 active ingredients of CKI, 292 genes associated with radiation pneumonia, 533 genes linked to lung cancer, and 37 common targets of CKI in the treatment of both radiation pneumonia and lung cancer. These core potential targets were found to be significantly associated with the OS of lung cancer patients, and the key compounds exhibited a good docking affinity with these targets. Additionally, GO and KEGG enrichment analysis highlighted that the bioinformatics annotation of these common genes mainly involved ubiquitin protein ligase binding, cytokine receptor binding, and the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Our study revealed that the main active components of CKI, primarily quercetin, luteolin, and naringin, might act on major core targets, including AKT1, PTGS2, and PPARG, and further regulated key signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt pathway, thereby playing a crucial role in the treatment of radiation pneumonia and lung cancer. Moreover, this study had a certain promotional effect on further clinical application and provided a theoretical basis for subsequent experimental research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epilepsy and depression have complicated bidirectional relationships. Our study aimed to explore the field of epilepsy comorbid with depression in a bibliometric perspective from 2014-2023. AIM To improve our understanding of epilepsy and depression by evaluating the relationship between epilepsy and depression, bibliometric analyses were performed. METHODS Epilepsy and depression-related publications from the last decade were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. We conducted bibliometric and visual analysis using VOSviewer and CiteSpace, examining authorships, countries, institutions, journals of publication, co-citations of references, connections between keywords, clusters of keywords, and keywords with citation bursts. RESULTS Over the past ten years, we collected 1045 research papers focusing on the field of epilepsy and comorbid depression. Publications on epilepsy and depression have shown a general upward trend over time, though with some fluctuations. The United States, with 287 articles, and the University of Melbourne, contributing 34 articles, were the top countries and institutions, respectively. In addition, in the field of epilepsy and depression, Professor Lee, who has published 30 articles, was the most contributing author. The hot topics pay attention to the quality of life in patients with epilepsy and depression. CONCLUSION We reported that quality of life and stigma in patients with epilepsy comorbid with depression are possible future hot topics and directions in the field of epilepsy and depression research.

Abstract
Background Anterior shoulder dislocation is the most common type of shoulder dislocation and is easy to develop into recurrent type, causing economic burden to society. This study uses the bibliometric method to analyze the global research status, hotspots and trends of anterior shoulder dislocation, aiming to promote the exploration of anterior shoulder dislocation. Methods The literature on anterior shoulder dislocation in the past two decades were retrieved and downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer and bibliometrix package of R software were used to conduct scientific bibliometric analysis of the literature. Finally, some statistical graphics were performed in Graphpad Prism. Results A total of 3914 publications related to anterior shoulder dislocation from 2003 to 2022 were retrieved and screened from the WOSCC database. The ranking of the analysis results showed that Provencher MT was the author with the highest frequency of occurrence. Rush University was the most notable contributor. The American Journal of Sports Medicine was the most comprehensive journal. The United States was the most prominent country. Keywords related to surgical treatment were more significant than others. Conclusion In the past two decades, the research output on anterior shoulder dislocation have been increasing year by year. The focus has gradually shifted to surgical treatment. Surgical treatment may continue to be the research hotspots in this field in the future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This bibliometric analysis aimed to explore the publication and citation metrics of the research literature on single-session therapy (SST) to understand its current status, trends, and future prospects. METHODS Seventy-five keywords were validated by subject matter experts. Publications from 1972 through September 2023 were extracted from the bibliometric website Lens.org. Publication trends, citation patterns, prominent journals, and influential authors were examined as part of the bibliometric analysis. Citation network analysis, bibliographic coupling of authors, and coauthorship network analysis were also performed. RESULTS A total of 301 SST publications, including 18 books, 85 book chapters, and 176 journal articles, were found, published by 493 authors. The citation- and publication-related metrics suggested a growing level of subject matter expertise over time. Initially, single-author publications held more prominence than collaborative work, but this pattern shifted. From 2011 to 2020, scholarly interest surged, resulting in 144 publications during this period. CONCLUSIONS This bibliometric analysis, the first systematic exploration of the SST knowledge base, can be used to expand and enrich future SST research.

Abstract
Background Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease, with a rapidly evolving body of literature on disease-modifying therapy (DMT) that urgently needs to be synthesized and regularized. Methods The original material used for the analysis was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) in the Science Citation Index Expanded Edition (SCI-E). The data material was accessed through VOSviewer, Citespace, R package "Bibliometrix", and Scimago Graphica for data analysis and visualization. Among them, the clustering algorithm based on the Largest Likelihood Ratio (LLR) and the burst citation algorithm is the key. Results As of November 6th, 2022, 4142 publications related to emerging disease-modifying therapies (e-DMT) for MS, 6521 publications related to traditional disease-modifying therapies (t-DMT) for MS, and 1793 publications in cross-cutting disease-modifying therapies (I-DMT) for MS were included in the analysis, respectively. Publications related to DMT in MS were analyzed descriptively (for three subjects: country, institution, and author) and predictively (for two subjects: keywords and references) separately according to three sections: e-DMT, t-DMT, and I-DMT. Topics that still have relevant reference output as of 2022 include the safety of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) mRNA vaccination, therapeutic inertia (TI), cladribine tablets, autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHSCT), progressive multiple sclerosis, and pediatric multiple sclerosis. Conclusion The future research focus for MS DMT is the combination trial or cross-trial of various treatment methods to improve the development of individualized treatment plans for MS patients. The exact contents of the research frontiers are included but not limited to ocrelizumab, fingolimod and other monoclonal antibodies, fumaric acid ester, cladribine tablet, aHSCT, and other interventions of randomized controlled trials (RCTs); the impact of mRNA COVID-19 vaccination on MS patients; TI, patient adherence, and other medical management issues; and continued exploration of biomarkers for more accurate disease classification based on the existing clinical indication classification.

Abstract
Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a prevalent non-communicable disease globally and holds the position of being the primary cause of mortality worldwide. Consequently, considerable focus has been directed towards the prevention and management of CVD. PCSK9, a frequently targeted element in the treatment and prevention of CVD, can reduce cardiovascular risk by effectively lowering lipid levels even in the context of statin therapy. It also exhibits substantial potential in the diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia from genetic aspects. This bibliometric study aims to analyze and visualize the global trends and emerging hotspots of PCSK9 and CVD researches and provide researchers with new perspectives in further studies. Methods The data was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. A total of 2,474 publications related to PCSK9 and CVD published between January 2006 and July 2023 were included. The VOSviewer was used to analyze most-cited references, co-authorship, co-citation, co-occurrence and generate a collaborative network map of authors, countries, and institutions. CiteSpace was used to analyze author and institution centroids, keyword bursts, and timeline graphs. Result A total of 2,474 articles related to CVD and PCSK9 were included. The number of articles and citations show an increasing trend from year to year. Publications were mainly from the United States. The most active institution was Amgen Inc. Watts, Gerald F. was the most prolific author. Atherosclerosis was the most published journal. Literature co-citation and keyword co-occurrence revealed that early studies focused on the lipid-lowering effects of PCSK9 inhibitors in the context of statins therapy, long-term efficacy, adverse effects, LDLR, diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia. In recent years, myocardial ischemic protection, CRISPR-based editing, and new therapeutic strategies for arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease have gotten wide attention. The protein convertase, inflammation, beta-polyacetate, and inclisiran may be the important future research directions. Conclusion This study analyses the current status and global trends in the CVD and PCSK9 studies comprehensively, which may provide researchers and policymakers with new and comprehensive perspectives on in this field of research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lumbosacral plexus injury is a highly distressing clinical issue with profound implications for patients' quality of life. Since the publication of the first relevant study in 1953, there has been very limited progress in basic research and clinical treatment in this field, and the developmental trajectory and research priorities in this field have not been systematically summarized using scientific methods, leaving the future direction of this research to be explored. METHODS Utilizing publications from the Web of Science (WoS) database, our research employed bibliometric methodology to analyze the fundamental components of publications, synthesize research trends, and forecast future directions. RESULTS A total of 150 publications were included in our study, and the impressive advancement of research heat in this field can be attributed to the continuous increase in the number of papers, ranging from 14 papers in 2000 to 34 papers in 2023 over 5 years. Regarding the country, a central position in both quantity (H-index=125) and quality of publications (65 publications) is occupied by the United States, and close collaborations with other countries are observed. In terms of publication institutions, the highest number of publications (nine publications) is held by the Second Military Medical University. The journal with the most publications (five publications) is the Journal of Trauma-Injury Infection and Critical Care. A pivotal role has been played by basic medical research in the development of this field. Concerning hotspots, the focus of the research core can be divided into three clusters (etiology, diagnosis and treatment; molecular, cells and mechanisms; physiology, and pathology). CONCLUSION This marks the inaugural bibliometric analysis of lumbosacral plexus injuries, offering a comprehensive overview of current publications. Our findings illuminate future research directions, international collaborations, and interdisciplinary relationships. Future research will emphasize clinical treatment and mechanism research, with a focus on sacral nerve stimulation and nerve transplantation.

Abstract
Purpose To perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in lung disease to understand the current status and emerging trends of this field. Materials and methods AI-based lung disease research publications were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection. Citespace, VOS viewer and Excel were used to analyze and visualize co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis of authors, keywords, countries/regions, references and institutions in this field. Results Our study included a total of 5210 papers. The number of publications on AI in lung disease showed explosive growth since 2017. China and the United States lead in publication numbers. The most productive author were Li, Weimin and Qian Wei, with Shanghai Jiaotong University as the most productive institution. Radiology was the most co-cited journal. Lung cancer and COVID-19 emerged as the most studied diseases. Deep learning, convolutional neural network, lung cancer, radiomics will be the focus of future research. Conclusions AI-based diagnosis and treatment of lung disease has become a research hotspot in recent years, yielding significant results. Future work should focus on establishing multimodal AI models that incorporate clinical, imaging and laboratory information. Enhanced visualization of deep learning, AI-driven differential diagnosis model for lung disease and the creation of international large-scale lung disease databases should also be considered.

Abstract
Background As a fatal disease, cytokine storm has garnered research attention in recent years. Nonetheless, as the body of related studies expands, a thorough and impartial evaluation of the current status of research on cytokine storms remains absent. Consequently, this study aimed to thoroughly explore the research landscape and evolution of cytokine storm utilizing bibliometric and knowledge graph approaches. Methods Research articles and reviews centered on cytokine storms were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. For bibliometric analysis, tools such as Excel 365, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the Bibliometrix R package were utilized. Results This bibliometric analysis encompassed 6647 articles published between 2004 and 2022. The quantity of pertinent articles and citation frequency exhibited a yearly upward trend, with a sharp increase starting in 2020. Network analysis of collaborations reveals that the United States holds a dominant position in this area, boasting the largest publication count and leading institutions. Frontiers in Immunology ranks as the leading journal for the largest publication count in this area. Stephan A. Grupp, a prominent researcher in this area, has authored the largest publication count and has the second-highest citation frequency. Research trends and keyword evaluations show that the connection between cytokine storm and COVID-19, as well as cytokine storm treatment, are hot topics in research. Furthermore, research on cytokine storm and COVID-19 sits at the forefront in this area. Conclusion This study employed bibliometric analysis to create a visual representation of cytokine storm research, revealing current trends and burgeoning topics in this area for the first time. It will provide valuable insights, helping scholars pinpoint critical research areas and potential collaborators.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to comprehensively analyze research related to hypertension and atrial fibrillation, 2 common cardiovascular diseases with significant global public health implications, using bibliometric methods from 2003 to 2022. METHODS From the Web of Science Core Collection database, literature on the theme of hypertension and atrial fibrillation was retrieved. Subsequently, comprehensive bibliometric analyses were conducted across multiple dimensions utilizing software tools such as VOSviewer, Citespace, Pajek, Scimago Graphica, and ClusterProfiler. These analyses encompassed examinations of the literature according to country/region, institution, authors, journals, citation relationships, and keywords. RESULTS It revealed an increasing interest and shifting focus in research over the years. The analysis covered 7936 relevant publications, demonstrating a gradual rise in research activity regarding hypertension combined with atrial fibrillation over the past 2 decades, with a stable growth trend in research outcomes. Geographically, Europe and the Americas, particularly the United States, have shown the most active research in this field, while China has also gained importance in recent years. Regarding institutional contributions, internationally renowned institutions such as the University of Birmingham and the Mayo Clinic have emerged as core forces in this research direction. Additionally, Professor Lip Gregory, with his prolific research output, has stood out among numerous scholars. The American Journal of Cardiology has become a primary platform for publishing research related to hypertension and atrial fibrillation, highlighting its central role in advancing knowledge dissemination in this field. The research focus has shifted from exploring the pathophysiological mechanisms to investigating the treatment of complications and risk factors associated with hypertension and atrial fibrillation. Future research will focus on in-depth exploration of genetic and molecular mechanisms, causal relationship exploration through Mendelian randomization studies, and the application of machine learning techniques in prediction and treatment, aiming to promote the development of precision medicine for cardiovascular diseases. CONCLUSION In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the developmental trajectory of research on hypertension and atrial fibrillation, presenting novel insights into trends and future research directions, thus offering information support and guidance for research in this crucial field of cardiovascular medicine.

In recent years, approximately 80 articles on ICC have been published annually in various journals. However, no bibliometric study has specifically focused on the literature related to ICC. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of ICC to reveal dynamic scientific developments, assisting researchers in exploring hotspots and emerging trends while gaining a global perspective. Methods We conducted a literature search in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2023, to identify relevant literature on ICC. We employed bibliometric software, namely VOSviewer and CiteSpace, to analyze various aspects including annual publication output, collaborations, research hotspots, current status, and development trends in this domain. Results A total of 891 English papers were published in 359 journals by 928 institutions from 57 countries/regions. According to the keyword analysis of the literature, researchers mainly focused on "c-Kit," "expression," "smooth muscle," and "nitric oxide" related to ICC over the past 11 years. However, with "SIP syncytium," "ANO1," "enteric neurons," "gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)," and "functional dyspepsia (FD)," there has been a growing interest in the relationship between ANO1, SIP syncytium, and ICC, as well as the role of ICC in the treatment of GIST and FD. Conclusion Bibliometric analysis has revealed the current status of ICC research. The association between ANO1, SIP syncytium, enteric neurons and ICC, as well as the role of ICC in the treatment of GIST versus FD has become the focus of current research. However, further research and collaboration on a global scale are still needed. Our analysis is particularly valuable to researchers in gastroenterology, oncology, and cell biology, providing insights that can guide future research directions.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on exoskeleton robot assisted walking rehabilitation for stroke patients in the Web of Science Core Collection over the past decade. Method Retrieved literature on exoskeleton robot assisted gait training for stroke hemiplegic patients from the Web of Science Core Collection from 1 January 2014 to 31 January 2024. The search method was topic search, and the types of documents were "article, meeting abstract, review article, early access." CiteSpace was used to analyze the search results from countries, institutions, keywords, cited references and cited authors. Result A total of 1,349 articles were retrieved, and 1,034 were ultimately included for visualization analysis. The annual publication volume showed an upward trend, with countries, institutions, and authors from Europe and America in a leading position. The core literature was also published by authors from European and American countries. The keywords were divided into 8 clusters: # 0 soft robotic exit, # 1 robot assisted gain training, # 2 multiple scales, # 3 magnetic rheological brake, # 4 test retest reliability, # 5 electromechanical assisted training, # 6 cerebra salary, and # 7 slow gain. The early research direction focused on the development of exoskeleton robots, verifying their reliability and feasibility. Later, the focus was on the combination of exoskeleton robot with machine learning and other technologies, rehabilitation costs, and patient quality of life. Conclusion This study provides a visual display of the research status, development trends, and research hotspots, which helps researchers in this field to grasp the research hotspots and choose future research directions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS The study was aimed at systematically analyzing the research status and trends of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) using bibliometrics. METHODS We retrieved documents published between 1975 and 2022 from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database, and manually selected them for bibliometric analyses of country, institution, journal, highly locally cited documents and research trends based on co-citation clustering and keywords using the R Bibliometricx package and CiteSpace software. RESULTS A total of 5,703 publications were included. Although the number of annual publications on POP increased, the trend of annual publication reached an obvious plateau in the first half of the 2010s. The USA, China, the UK, the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Sydney were the top three countries and institutions with the most publications respectively. International Urogynecology Journal, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology were the journals with the most extensive academic influence on the field of POP research. The international cooperation was lacking and the highly cited documents focused on high-level, evidence-based studies. Epidemiological studies and surgical treatment have achieved a plateau or decline. Recent studies have focused on conservative treatment, physical therapy, and minimally invasive surgery. In addition to evidence-based medicine studies, tissue engineering is the future direction of POP. CONCLUSIONS This study used bibliometric analyses to provide insights into the status and potential research directions of POP. More high-quality, evidence-based medicine studies and in-depth tissue engineering research should be propelled forward.

Abstract
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells with self-renewal ability and tumor generating potential. Accumulated evidence has revealed that CSCs were shown to contribute to tumorigenesis, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, CSCs were regarded as promising therapeutic targets in cancer. This study is the first to reveal the development process, research hotspots, and trends of entire CSCs research field through bibliometric methods. All relevant publications on CSCs with more than 100 citations (notable papers) and the 100 most cited papers (top papers) during 1997 to 2023 were extracted and analyzed. Cancer research published the largest number of papers (184 papers). The USA accounted for the most publications (1326 papers). Rich, JN was the author with the most publications (56 papers) and the highest M-index (3.111). The most contributive institution was the University of Texas System (164 papers). Before 2007, research mainly focused on the definition and recognition of CSCs. Between 2007 and 2016, with the emergence of the terms such as "sonic hedgehog," "metabolism," "oxidative phosphorylation," and "epithelial mesenchymal transition," research began to shift toward exploring the mechanisms of CSCs. In 2016, the focus transitioned to the tumor microenvironment and the ecological niches. The analysis of papers published in major journals since 2021 showed that "transcription," "inhibition," and "chemoresistance" emerged as new focused issues. In general, the research focus has gradually shifted from basic biology to clinical transformation. "Tumor microenvironment" and "chemo-resistance" should be given more attention in the future.

Abstract
Objective This study employs bibliometric and visual analysis to elucidate global research trends in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) biomarkers, identify critical research focal points, and discuss the potential integration of diverse biomarker modalities for precise ASD assessment. Methods A comprehensive bibliometric analysis was conducted using data from the Web of Science Core Collection database until December 31, 2022. Visualization tools, including R, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and gCLUTO, were utilized to examine collaborative networks, co-citation patterns, and keyword associations among countries, institutions, authors, journals, documents, and keywords. Results ASD biomarker research emerged in 2004, accumulating a corpus of 4348 documents by December 31, 2022. The United States, with 1574 publications and an H-index of 213, emerged as the most prolific and influential country. The University of California, Davis, contributed significantly with 346 publications and an H-index of 69, making it the leading institution. Concerning journals, the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Autism Research, and PLOS ONE were the top three publishers of ASD biomarker-related articles among a total of 1140 academic journals. Co-citation and keyword analyses revealed research hotspots in genetics, imaging, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, gut microbiota, and eye tracking. Emerging topics included "DNA methylation," "eye tracking," "metabolomics," and "resting-state fMRI." Conclusion The field of ASD biomarker research is dynamically evolving. Future endeavors should prioritize individual stratification, methodological standardization, the harmonious integration of biomarker modalities, and longitudinal studies to advance the precision of ASD diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to analyze developmental trends in anxiety and depression after myocardial infarction (ADMI) research in the past 20 years through bibliometrics analysis and predict future research directions. Methods ADMI-related publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix software packages were used for bibliometric analysis and visualization. Results Overall, 3220 ADMI-related publications were identified. The United States, China, and the Netherlands were the countries with the most publications. Carney RM, De Jonge P, and Blumenthal JA were the most influential researchers. In 2004, Van Melle JP, from the University of Groningen, published in Psychosomatic Medicine the most cited article. "Cardiac rehabilitation" was the primary focus area. "Cardiac rehabilitation," "management," "acute coronary syndrome," and "outcome" were the top four keywords in emerging research hotspots. Notably, the effect of traditional Chinese medicine on ADMI is an area of potential research value. Conclusion Numerous studies have underscored the significance of cardiac rehabilitation. Present research focuses on managing anxiety and depression post-acute coronary syndrome and enhancing clinical outcomes through cardiac rehabilitation technology. Additionally, the therapeutic potential of traditional Chinese medicine for ADMI is expected to attract increased attention from researchers in the future.

Abstract
An increasing amount of research has shown that glycosylation plays a crucial role in autoimmune diseases (ADs), prompting our interest in conducting research on the knowledge framework and hot topics in this field based on bibliometric analysis. Studies on glycosylation in the field of ADs from 2003 to 2023 were collected by searching the Web of Science Core Collection database. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Bibliometrix software. This study included a total of 530 studies. According to the H, G, and M indices, the United States has made the most contributions worldwide, with China making significant contributions in recent years. Leiden University from the Netherlands ranks among the top institutions in terms of publication and citation rankings, with the institution's author Manfred Wuhrer contributing the most to this field. Frontiers in Immunology is the journal with the highest H-index. Research in this field has focused on antibody glycosylation, particularly the specific glycosylation of IgG and IgA, and its role in various ADs. The application of glycoengineering glycosylated proteins in the synthesis of targeted monoclonal antibodies, drug delivery, and regenerative medical materials may be a new trend in the treatment of ADs. Artificial intelligence is an emerging tool in glycobiology. This study summarizes the objective data on glycosylation in the field of AD publications in recent years, providing a reference for researchers in this field.

Abstract
Background Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most threatening health problems for the elderly males. However, our understanding of the disease has been limited by the research technology for a long time. Recently, the maturity of sequencing technology and omics studies has been accelerating the studies of PCa, establishing themselves as an essential impetus in this field. Methods We assessed Web of Science (WoS) database for publications of sequencing and omics studies in PCa on July 3rd, 2023. Bibliometrix was used to conduct ulterior bibliometric analysis of countries/affiliations, authors, sources, publications, and keywords. Subsequently, purposeful large amounts of literature reading were proceeded to analyze research hotspots in this field. Results 3325 publications were included in the study. Research associated with sequencing and omics studies in PCa had shown an obvious increase recently. The USA and China were the most productive countries, and harbored close collaboration. CHINNAIYAN AM was identified as the most influential author, and CANCER RESEARCH exhibited huge impact in this field. Highly cited publications and their co-citation relationships were used to filtrate literatures for subsequent literature reading. Based on keyword analysis and large amounts of literature reading, 'the molecular pathogenesis of PCa' and 'the clinical application of sequencing and omics studies in PCa' were summarized as two research hotspots in the field. Conclusion Sequencing technology had a deep impact on the studies of PCa. Sequencing and omics studies in PCa helped researchers reveal the molecular pathogenesis, and provided new possibilities for the clinical practice of PCa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neuropathic pain (NP) is a common type of pain in clinic. Due to the limited effect of drug treatment, many patients with NP are still troubled by this disease. In recent years, complementary and alternative therapy (CAT) has shown good efficacy in the treatment of NP. The aim of this study is to analyze the development overview, research hotspots and future trends in the field of CAT and NP through bibliometric methodology, so as to provide a reference for subsequent researchers. METHODS Publications on CAT in the treatment of NP from 2002 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Relevant countries, institutions, authors, journals, keywords, and references were analyzed bibliometrically using Microsoft Excel 2021, bibliometric platform, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. RESULTS A total of 898 articles from 46 countries were published in 324 journals, and they were contributed by 4455 authors from 1102 institutions. The most influential country and institution are China (n = 445) and Kyung Hee University (n = 63), respectively. Fang JQ (n = 27) and Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (n = 63) are the author and journal with the most publications in this field. The clinical efficacy, molecular biological mechanisms and safety of CAT for NP are currently hot directions. Low back pain, postherpetic neuralgia, acupuncture, and herbal are the hot topics in CAT and NP in recent years. CONCLUSION This study reveals the current status and hotspots of CAT for NP. The study also indicates that the effectiveness and effect mechanism of acupuncture or herbs for treating emotional problems caused by low back pain or postherpetic neuralgia may be a trend for future research.

Abstract
Background Functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) has developed rapidly in recent years, and there are more and more studies on fNIRS. At present, there is no bibliometric analysis of the top 100 most cited articles on fNIRS research. Objective To identify the top 100 most cited articles on fNIRS and analyze those most fundamental and popular articles through bibliometric research methods. Methods The literature on fNIRS of web of science from 1990 to 2023 was searched and the top 100 most cited articles were identified by citations. Use the bibliometrix package in R studio and VOSviewer for data analysis and plotting to obtain the output characteristics and citation status of these 100 most cited articles, and analyze research trends in this field through keywords. Results A total of 9,424 articles were retrieved from web of science since 1990. The average citation number of the 100 articles was 457.4 (range from 260 to 1,366). Neuroimage published the most articles (n = 31). Villringer, A. from Leipzig University had the largest number of top 100 papers. Harvard University (n = 22) conducted most cited articles. The United States, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom had most cited articles, respectively. The most common keywords were near-infrared spectroscopy, activation, cerebral-blood-flow, brain, newborn-infants, oxygenation, cortex, fMRI, spectroscopy. The fund sources mostly came from National Institutes of Health Unitd States (NIH) and United States Department of Health Human Services (n = 28). Conclusion Neuroimage was the most popular journal. The top countries, institutions, and authors were the United States, Harvard University, and Villringer, A., respectively. Researchers and institutions from North America and Europe contributed the most. Near-infrared spectroscopy, activation, cerebral-blood-flow, brain, newborn-infants, oxygenation, cortex, fmri, spectroscopy, stimulation, blood-flow, light-propagation, infants, tissue comprise the future research directions and potential topic hotspots for fNIRS.

Abstract
AIMS To comprehend the current research hotspots and emerging trends in big data research within the global nursing domain. DESIGN Bibliometric analysis. METHODS The quality articles for analysis indexed by the science core collection were obtained from the Web of Science database as of February 10, 2023.The descriptive, visual analysis and text mining were realized by CiteSpace and VOSviewer. RESULTS The research on big data in the nursing field has experienced steady growth over the past decade. A total of 45 core authors and 17 core journals around the world have contributed to this field. The author's keyword analysis has revealed five distinct clusters of research focus. These encompass machine/deep learning and artificial intelligence, natural language processing, big data analytics and data science, IoT and cloud computing, and the development of prediction models through data mining. Furthermore, a comparative examination was conducted with data spanning from 1980 to 2016, and an extended analysis was performed covering the years from 1980 to 2019. This bibliometric mapping comparison allowed for the identification of prevailing research trends and the pinpointing of potential future research hotspots within the field. CONCLUSIONS The fusion of data mining and nursing research has steadily advanced and become more refined over time. Technologically, it has expanded from initial natural language processing to encompass machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining approach that amalgamates multiple technologies. Professionally, it has progressed from addressing patient safety and pressure ulcers to encompassing chronic diseases, critical care, emergency response, community and nursing home settings, and specific diseases (Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, stroke, etc.). The convergence of IoT, cloud computing, fog computing, and big data processing has opened new avenues for research in geriatric nursing management and community care. However, a global imbalance exists in utilizing big data in nursing research, emphasizing the need to enhance data science literacy among clinical staff worldwide to advance this field. CLINICAL RELEVANCE This study focused on the thematic trends and evolution of research on the big data in nursing research. Moreover, this study may contribute to the understanding of researchers, journals, and countries around the world and generate the possible collaborations of them to promote the development of big data in nursing science.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Image-guided surgery (IGS) refers to surgery navigated by medical imaging technology, helping doctors better clarify tumor boundaries, identify metastatic lymph nodes and preserve surrounding healthy tissue function. Recent studies have provided expectable momentum of the application of IGS in prostate cancer (PCa). The authors aim to comprehensively construct a bibliometric analysis of the application of IGS in PCa. METHOD The authors searched publications related to application of IGS in PCa from 2013 to 2023 on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) databases. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R package 'bibliometrix' were used for bibliometric analysis. RESULTS Two thousand three eighty-nine articles from 75 countries and 2883 institutions led by the United States were included. The number of publications related to the application of IGS in PCa kept high in the last decade. Johns Hopkins University is the top research institutions. Journal of Nuclear Medicine has the highest popularity as the selection of journal and co-cited journal. Pomper Martin G. had published the most paper. Ali Afshar-Oromieh was co-cited most frequently. The clinical efficacy of PSMA-PET/CT in PCa diagnosis and treatment are main topics in this research field, with emerging focuses on the use of fluorescence imaging guidance technology in PCa. 'PSMA' and 'PET/CT' are the main keywords as long-term research hotspots. CONCLUSION This study is the first bibliometric analysis of researches on application of IGS in PCa with three recognized bibliometric software, providing an objective description and comprehensive guidance for the future relevant investigations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to analyse existing research on systemic sclerosis (SSc) conducted over the past 73 years to develop an essential reference for a comprehensive and objective understanding of this field of inquiry. METHODS Using the Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, and Scopus databases as data sources for the bibliometric analysis, we searched for published literature related to SSc over the past 73 years. The Bibliometrix package was used to analyse key bibliometric indicators, such as annual publication volume, countries, journals, author contributions, and research hotspots. RESULTS From 1970 to 2022, the number of SSc articles steadily increased, reaching its peak in 2020-2022, with approximately 1200 papers published in each of these three years. Matucci-Cerinic et al.'s team published the most articles (425). The United States (11,282), Italy (7027), and France (5226) were the most predominant contexts. The most influential scholars in the field were Denton, Leroy, Steen, and Khanna, with H-indices of 86, 84, and 83, respectively. Arthritis and Rheumatism was the most influential journal in this field (H-index 142). High-frequency keywords in the SSc field included fibrosis (738), inflammation (242), vasculopathy (145), fibroblasts (120), and autoantibodies (118) with respect to pathogenesis, and interstitial lung disease (ILD, 708), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, 696), and Raynaud's phenomenon (326) with regards to clinical manifestations. CONCLUSION In the past three years, SSc research has entered a period of rapid development, mainly driven by research institutions in Europe and the United States. The most influential journal has been Arthritis and Rheumatism, and autoimmune aspects, vasculopathy, fibrogenesis, PAH, and ILD remain the focus of current research and indicate trends in future research.

Abstract
Background The guidelines for treating chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) recommend using the IgE-targeted biologic omalizumab in patients with antihistamine-refractory disease. Objective Our aim was to present a bibliometric review of publications related to omalizumab and CSU over the past 2 decades. Methods Relevant publications from 2003 to 2022 were extracted from the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) database in the Web of Science Core Collection database as of January 8, 2023. We utilized CiteSpace (version 6.1.R3), VOSviewer (version 1.6.18), and the R package (version 4.2.1) to analyze and visualize the data. The R package bibliometrix (version 4.2.1) was also used. Results Between 2003 and 2022, a total of 566 articles on omalizumab and CSU were published. Since 2014, there has been a rapid increase in publication output. According to the collaboration network, the most influential country, institute, and scholar were the United States, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and Marcus Maurer, respectively. The study identified the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice as the most productive journal and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology as the most cocited journal. The analysis of key words revealed the presence of high-frequency terms such as angioedema, IgE, treatment, anti-IgE, asthma, and atopic dermatitis. Moreover, recent studies in this area have concentrated mainly on biomarkers, dupilumab, and coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Conclusion There has been a growing interest in the use of omalizumab in CSU in recent years. The current trending topics in this research are the identification of biomarkers and the development of new mAbs for the treatment of CSU.

Abstract
Background RNA methylation is involved in major life processes. Angiogenesis is a normal phenomenon that occurs constantly in the bodies of all mammals, once it is aberrant or something goes wrong, it may lead to pathological changes. The bibliometric analysis could produce a comprehensive overview of RNA methylation during angiogenesis. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used to screen publications about RNA methylation during angiogenesis from Jan 1, 2000 to Nov 24, 2022. Bibliometric and visualization analyses were conducted to understand publication trends by CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results In total, 382 publications from 2000 to 2022 were included in the bibliometric and visualization analyses. On the whole, the number of publications had exponential growth. China was the country and Sun Yat-Sen University was the university associated with the largest number of publications, although publications from the United Kingdom and Soochow University were currently having the strongest impact. Cancer was the most studied topic in this field, and N6-methyladenosine is the most studied RNA methylation type. Conclusion There is a continuously increasing trend in publications related to RNA methylation and angiogenesis, which has attracted much attention, particularly since 2011. RNA methylation might be a promising target in the investigation of pathological angiogenesis and related disorders, which deserves further investigation.

Abstract
Background Global research hotspots and future research trends in the neurobiological mechanisms of late-life depression (LLD) as well as its diagnosis and treatment are not yet clear. Objectives This study profiled the current state of global research on LLD and predicted future research trends in the field. Methods Literature with the subject term LLD was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, and CiteSpace software was used to perform econometric and co-occurrence analyses. The results were visualized using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and other software packages. Results In total, 10,570 publications were included in the analysis. Publications on LLD have shown an increasing trend since 2004. The United States and the University of California had the highest number of publications, followed consecutively by China and England, making these countries and institutions the most influential in the field. Reynolds, Charles F. was the author with the most publications. The International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry was the journal with the most articles and citations. According to the co-occurrence analysis and keyword/citation burst analysis, cognitive impairment, brain network dysfunction, vascular disease, and treatment of LLD were research hotspots. Conclusion Late-life depression has attracted increasing attention from researchers, with the number of publications increasing annually. However, many questions remain unaddressed in this field, such as the relationship between LLD and cognitive impairment and dementia, or the impact of vascular factors and brain network dysfunction on LLD. Additionally, the treatment of patients with LLD is currently a clinical challenge. The results of this study will help researchers find suitable research partners and journals, as well as predict future hotspots.

Abstract
Background Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease with autoimmune characteristics. Recent research has made significant progress in the field of psoriasis metabolomics. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis on metabolomics of psoriasis. The objective of this study is to utilize bibliometrics to present a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge structure and research hotspots in psoriasis within the field of metabolomics. Methods We conducted a bibliometric analysis by searching the Web of Science Core Collection database for publications on metabolomics in psoriasis from 2011 to 2024. To perform this analysis, we utilized tools such as VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix". Results A total of 307 articles from 47 countries, with the United States and China leading the way, were included in the analysis. The publications focusing on metabolomics in psoriasis have shown a steady year-on-year growth. The Medical University of Bialystok is the main research institution. The International Journal of Molecular Sciences emerges as the prominent journal in the field, while the Journal of Investigative Dermatology stands out as the highly co-cited publication. A total of 2029 authors contributed to these publications, with Skrzydlewska Elzbieta, Baran Anna, Flisiak Iwona, Murakami Makoto being the most prolific contributors. Notably, Armstrong April W. received the highest co-citation. Investigating the mechanisms of metabolomics in the onset and progression of psoriasis, as well as exploring therapeutic strategies, represents the primary focus of this research area. Emerging research hotspots encompass inflammation, lipid metabolism, biomarker, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and arthritis. Conclusion The results of this study indicate that metabolism-related research is thriving in psoriasis, with a focus on the investigation of metabolic targets and interventions within the metabolic processes. Metabolism is expected to be a hot topic in future psoriasis research.

Abstract
Objective To systematically understand the research frontiers, hotspots and development trends of exercise therapy in the intervention of tumor-related sleep-wake disorders, and to provide scientific basis for follow-up research. Methods Downloaded the original research papers on February 26, 2024, from the Web of Science core collection database, on tumor-associated sleep-wake disorders. The data that met the inclusion criteria were imported into the Bibliometric Analysis Platform (http://biblimetric.com), CiteSpace 6.3.R1 and VOSviwer1.6.20 software for visual analysis, and imported into Excel2021. Scientometric analysis was performed with Oringin2021 and PyCharm Community Edition 2022.1.3. Results A total of 512 original research papers on tumor-related sleep-wake disorders were obtained. The most influential countries in the subject area are the United States, Spain and German, the institutions are the University of California System, Sun Yat Sen University and Northwestern University, et al., the authors are Berger AM, Aaronson NK, Bower JE, et al., and the journals are Cancer, Brit J Cancer and Cancer Nurs. The co-cited references suggest that the current research frontier in the field mainly involves the level, place and program of exercise therapy, including the relationship between physical activity, sedentary behavior and cancer prevention and control. The results of co-occurrence keyword network analysis showed that quality of life, physical activity, breast cancer, exercise, fatigue, and survivors may be the research hotspots in this field, with breast cancer, health, aerobic exercise, adults, and chemotherapy being the most popular. Conclusions The number of papers published and the research enthusiasm in this field show a steady upward trend. However, there is a lack of influential institutions and scholars, and there is relatively little research collaboration across countries/regions/institutions. The scientific research influence of institutions and scholars in most European and American countries/regions is significantly ahead of that of institutions and scholars in Asian and African countries/regions. But Sun Yat Sen University in China is a relatively active and influential scientific research institution in recent years, which is worthy of attention. In addition, the research frontier of this discipline is the level, place and program of exercise therapy auxiliary intervention, and the research hotspots involve breast cancer, health, aerobic exercise, adults, chemotherapy, et al. Their clinical efficacy needs to be further demonstrated in multi-center, large-sample and high-quality prospective studies.

Abstract
Background Extensive research on cluster headaches (CHs) has been conducted worldwide; however, there is currently no bibliometric research on CHs. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the current research hotspots and frontiers of CHs over the past decade. Methods Raw data on CHs was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2014 to 2023. CiteSpace V6.2 R7 (64 bit) and Microsoft Excel were used to assess the annual publication volume, authors, countries, and references. VOSviewer 1.6.19 software was used to assess the institutions, cited authors, and keywords, and co-occurrence and clustering functions were applied to draw a visual knowledge map. Results In the past decade, the overall annual publication volume of articles related to CHs has increased year by year, showing promising development prospects. The total 1909 articles contained six types of literature, among which the proportion of original research articles was the highest (1,270 articles, 66.53%), published in 201 journals. Cephalalgia (439 articles, 23.00%) had the highest publication volume, and the Lancet was the journal with the highest impact factor (IF = 168.9). Furthermore, the United States of America was the country with the most published papers (584 articles, 30.60%), University of London was the research institution with the most published papers (142 articles, 7.44%), and Goodsby, Peter J was found to be the most prolific author (38 articles, 1.99%). Conclusion This study may provide some direction for subsequent researcher on CHs. The hotspots and frontiers of future research on CHs are suggested as follows: in basic medicine, more attention should be paid to pathophysiology, especially on increasing research on the pathogenesis mediated by CGRP; in clinical medicine, more attention should be paid to the design of evidence-based medicine methodology, especially the strict design, including double-blind, questionnaire, and follow-up, in randomized controlled trials, using high-quality articles for meta-analyses, and recommending high-level evidence; therapeutic techniques need to be further explored, suggesting the implementation of transcranial magnetic stimulation of the cortex, and stimulation of the sphinopalatine ganglia and occipital nerve to achieve peripheral neuromodulation. Furthermore, chronic migraine and insomnia are inextricably linked to CHs.

Abstract
Objective This review aims to provide a quantitative and qualitative bibliometric analysis of literature from 2013 to 2023 on the role of exosomes in PC, with the goal of identifying current trends and predicting future hotspots. Methods We retrieved relevant publications concerning exosomes in PC, published between 2013 and 2023, from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analyses were conducted using VOSviewer(1.6.19), CiteSpace(6.2.R4), and Microsoft Excel (2019). Results A total of 624 papers were analyzed, authored by 4017 researchers from 55 countries/regions and 855 institutions, published in 258 academic journals. China (n=285, 34.42%) and the United States (n=183, 24.87%) were the most frequent contributors and collaborated closely. However, publications from China had a relatively low average number of citations (41.45 times per paper). The output of Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranked first, with 28 papers (accounting for 4.5% of the total publications). Cancers (n=31, 4.9%); published the most papers in this field. Researcher Margot Zoeller published the most papers (n=12) on this topic. Research hotspots mainly focused on the mechanisms of exosomes in PC onset and progression, the role of exosomes in PC early diagnosis and prognosis, exosomes promote the development of PC chemoresistance, and potential applications of exosomes as drug carriers for PC therapies. We observed a shift in research trends, from mechanistic studies toward clinical trials, suggesting that clinical applications will be the focus of future attention. Emerging topics were pancreatic stellate cells, diagnostic biomarkers, mesenchymal stem cells, extracellular vesicles. Conclusion Our scientometric and visual analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the literature on the role of exosomes in PC published during 2013-2023. This review identifies the frontiers and future directions in this area over the past decade, and is expected to provide a useful reference for researchers in this field.

Abstract
Purpose ChatGPT has a wide range of applications in the medical field. Therefore, this review aims to define the key issues and provide a comprehensive view of the literature based on the application of ChatGPT in medicine. Methods This scope follows Arksey and O'Malley's five-stage framework. A comprehensive literature search of publications (30 November 2022 to 16 August 2023) was conducted. Six databases were searched and relevant references were systematically catalogued. Attention was focused on the general characteristics of the articles, their fields of application, and the advantages and disadvantages of using ChatGPT. Descriptive statistics and narrative synthesis methods were used for data analysis. Results Of the 3426 studies, 247 met the criteria for inclusion in this review. The majority of articles (31.17%) were from the United States. Editorials (43.32%) ranked first, followed by experimental studys (11.74%). The potential applications of ChatGPT in medicine are varied, with the largest number of studies (45.75%) exploring clinical practice, including assisting with clinical decision support and providing disease information and medical advice. This was followed by medical education (27.13%) and scientific research (16.19%). Particularly noteworthy in the discipline statistics were radiology, surgery and dentistry at the top of the list. However, ChatGPT in medicine also faces issues of data privacy, inaccuracy and plagiarism. Conclusion The application of ChatGPT in medicine focuses on different disciplines and general application scenarios. ChatGPT has a paradoxical nature: it offers significant advantages, but at the same time raises great concerns about its application in healthcare settings. Therefore, it is imperative to develop theoretical frameworks that not only address its widespread use in healthcare but also facilitate a comprehensive assessment. In addition, these frameworks should contribute to the development of strict and effective guidelines and regulatory measures.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic psychiatric disorder that combines hypomania or mania and depression. The study aims to investigate the research areas associated with cognitive function in bipolar disorder and identify current research hotspots and frontier areas in this field. METHODOLOGY Publications related to cognitive function in BD from 2012 to 2022 were searched on the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Scimago Graphica were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. RESULTS A total of 989 articles on cognitive function in BD were included in this review. These articles were mainly from the United States, China, Canada, Spain and the United Kingdom. Our results showed that the journal "Journal of Affective Disorders" published the most articles. Apart from "Biploar disorder" and "cognitive function", the terms "Schizophrenia", "Meta analysis", "Rating scale" were also the most frequently used keywords. The research on cognitive function in bipolar disorder primarily focused on the following aspects: subgroup, individual, validation and pathophysiology. CONCLUSIONS The current concerns and hotspots in the filed are: "neurocognitive impairment", "subgroup", "1st degree relative", "mania", "individual" and "validation". Future research is likely to focus on the following four themes: "Studies of the bipolar disorder and cognitive subgroups", "intra-individual variability", "Validation of cognitive function tool" and "Combined with pathology or other fields".

Abstract
Background Given that the circadian rhythm is intricately linked to cardiovascular physiological functions, the objective of this investigation was to employ bibliometric visualization analysis in order to scrutinize the trends, hotspots, and prospects of the circadian rhythm and cardiovascular disease (CVD) over the past two decades. Methods A thorough exploration of the literature related to the circadian rhythm and CVD was conducted via the Web of Science Core Collection database spanning the years 2002-2022. Advanced software tools, including citespace and VOSviewer, were employed to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the co-occurrence and collaborative relationships among countries, institutions, journals, references, and keywords found in this literature. Furthermore, correlation mapping was executed to provide a visual representation of the data. Results The present study encompassed a total of 3399 published works, comprising of 2691 articles and 708 reviews. The publications under scrutiny were primarily derived from countries such as the United States, Japan, and China. The most prominent research institutions were found to be the University of Vigo, University of Minnesota, and Harvard University. Notably, the journal Chronobiology International, alongside its co-cited publications, had the most substantial contribution to the research in this field. Following an exhaustive analysis, the most frequently observed keywords were identified as circadian rhythm, blood pressure, hypertension, heart rate, heart rate variability, and melatonin. Furthermore, a nascent analysis indicated that future research might gravitate towards topics such as inflammation, metabolism, oxidative stress, and autophagy, thereby indicating new directions for investigation. Conclusion This analysis represents the first instance of bibliometric scrutiny pertaining to circadian rhythm and its correlation with cardiovascular disease (CVD) through the use of visualization software. Notably, this study has succeeded in highlighting the recent research frontiers and prominent trajectories in this field, thereby providing a valuable contribution to the literature.

Abstract
Objective Acupuncture, acknowledged as a potent non-pharmacological therapy, is frequently employed to alleviate pain. Despite its widespread use, there has been a lack of overarching bibliometric analysis of clinical research on acupuncture analgesia. We aimed to summarize current patterns, hotspots, and development trends in this field through bibliometric analysis. Methods This study evaluates academic publications retrieved from the Web of Science database (2010.01-2023.09) concerning acupuncture analgesia in clinical settings. All primary and secondary studies on humans were included. To track global developmental trends, we employed several software for analyzing annual publication volumes, countries/regions, institutions, authors, cited authors, journals, cited journals, references, and keywords and to draw collaborative networks and reference co-citation network maps. Results The final search encompassed 7,190 relevant studies, including 1,263 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 1,293 systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The results indicated a gradual increase in the number of annual publications on acupuncture analgesia in clinical practice. Among countries and institutions, China (2,139) and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (258) ranked first. Liang FR (89 articles) was the most prolific author, while MacPherson H (604) was the most cited author. MEDICINE (455) was the most productive journal, and Pain (2,473/0.20) ranked first in both the frequency and centrality of cited journals. Notably, the most frequently cited reference was a systematic review of individual patient data on acupuncture carried out for chronic pain that was published by Vickers Andrew J in 2012 (156). Burst analysis identified frontier research areas for 2010-2020, encompassing network meta-analysis, case reports, dry needling, lumbar disc herniation, cancer, post-herpetic neuralgia, insomnia, and bibliometric analysis. Conclusion This study outlines current trends and potential future research hotspots in clinical acupuncture analgesia over the past decade. Findings emphasize the necessity for enhanced international collaboration to improve research output and translation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Kawasaki disease is a systemic vascular disease with an unclear pathophysiology that primarily affects children under the age of five. Research on immune control in Kawasaki disease has been gaining attention. This study aims to apply a bibliometric analysis to examine the present and future directions of immune control in Kawasaki disease. METHODS By utilizing the themes "Kawasaki disease," "Kawasaki syndrome," and "immune control," the Web of Science Core Collection database was searched for publications on immune control in Kawasaki disease. This bibliometric analysis was carried out using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix." RESULTS In total, 294 studies on immune control in Kawasaki disease were published in Web of Science Core Collection. The three most significant institutions were Chang Gung University, the University of California San Diego, and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. China, the United States, and Japan were the three most important countries. In this research field, Clinical and Experimental Immunology was the top-referred journal, while the New England Journal of Medicine was the most co-cited journal. The Web of Science Core Collection document by McCrindle BW et al. published in 2017 was the most cited reference. Additionally, the author keywords concentrated on "COVID-19," "SARS-CoV-2," and "multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children" in recent years. CONCLUSION The research trends and advancements in immune control in Kawasaki disease are thoroughly summarised in this bibliometric analysis, which is the first to do so. The data indicate recent research frontiers and hot directions, making it easier for researchers to study the immune control of Kawasaki disease.

Abstract
Polycythemia vera (PV) is a myeloproliferative tumor with low incidence and complex symptoms, affecting patients' quality of life and shortening their life span. Since the beginning of the 21st century, there has been an update but a need for uniform consensus regarding diagnosing and treating PV. With the continued interest of researchers in this field, a bibliometric study of PV is necessary. This paper aims to analyze articles on PV through bibliometric software to provide collaborative information and new ideas for researchers in this field. We collected PV-related publications in the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2000 to 2023. The included literature was analyzed using Citespace (6.2.R2), VOSviewer (1.6.19), and Bibliometrix. The study included country/region, institution, authors, journals, keywords, and references, and a visual knowledge network diagram was constructed. Microsoft Excel 2013 was also used for statistical analysis. A total of 1,093 articles were eventually included. The number of PV-related publications has steadily increased from 2000 to the present, with great potential for future growth. The US and US institutions have contributed more to this field, with the US ranking first in the number of publications, total citations, and centrality. Alessandro M. Vannucchi is the most published author. Tefferi, Ayalew is the most cited author. And BLOOD has the most publications, topping the list of the eleven high-productivity core source journals. The most cited article was "Acquired mutation of the tyrosine kinase JAK2 in human myeloproliferative disorders" (Baxter, EJ, 2005). By examining the keywords, we found that the diagnosis and typing of true erythrocytosis, the use of ruxolitinib, and the tyrosine kinase JAK2 are the research hotspots in the field; genetic and molecular research in the field of true erythrocytosis is a cutting-edge topic in the field; and risk factors for true erythrocytosis is a cutting-edge hotspot issue in the field. The fruitful research in this century has laid the foundation for developing the field of PV. The information in this article will provide researchers with current hotspots and future potential in the discipline, helping the field achieve more extraordinary breakthroughs. Currently, research should focus on increasing global multicenter collaborative research in diagnosis and treatment to develop scientifically recognized diagnostic and treatment protocols and new clinical drug research. Our proposed model of global innovation collaboration will provide strong support for future research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Wrist arthroscopy technology is a surgical technology invented in recent years and widely used in clinical treatment of various wrist diseases. This study uses the methods of bibliometrics and visual analysis to understand the global research status, research hotspots, and future development trends of wrist arthroscopy. METHODS The relevant literature of global publications on wrist arthroscopy from 2013 to 2023 was extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database, and the annual output, cooperation, hot spots, research status, and development trend of this field were analyzed by using the bibliometric software (VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and the R package "Bibliometrix"). RESULTS A total of 635 articles were included, from 2013 to 2023, the number of publications related to wrist arthroscopy showed an overall upward trend, the USA, France, and China are the top 3 countries in terms of the number of publications, whereas Mayo Clinic is the institution with the highest number of publications, Ho PC holds a core position in this field, keyword analysis indicates that the research hotspots are the applications of wrist arthroscopy in triangular fibrocartilage complex injuries, scaphoid nonunion, and avascular necrosis of the lunate. CONCLUSION SUBSECTIONS Wrist arthroscopy has shown tremendous potential in treating various wrist diseases. However, there are still some challenges in its research domain. With continuous deep research, strengthened international collaboration, and ongoing technological advancements, wrist arthroscopy has the potential to become the standard treatment in hand surgery, offering more efficient and safer treatment options for patients worldwide.

Abstract
BACKGROUND MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are widely recognized in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease. As a key regulatory factor, miRNAs have introduced new biomarkers for the early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and provided a favorable research direction for the development of novel therapeutic targets. This study aimed to explore the hotspots of miRNA research related to RA published from different countries, organizations, and authors. METHODS From 2001 to 2022, publications on miRNA related to RA were identified in the Web of Science database. The total and annual number of publishments, citations, impact factor, H-index, productive authors, and involved journals were collected for quantitative and qualitative comparisons. RESULTS A total of 29 countries/regions in the world have participated in the research of miRNAs and RA over the past two decades, and China (760, 53.18%) and the United States (233, 16.31%) account for the majority of the total publications. China dominated in total citation (17881) and H-index (62). A total of 507 academic journals have published articles in related fields, and Frontiers in Immunology published the most (53, 3.71%). Chih-hsin Tang of the China Medical University has published the most papers (16, 1.2%). Stanczyk (2008) published the most cited article Altered expression of miRNAs in synovial fibroblasts and synovial tissue in rheumatoid arthritis in Arthritis and Rheumatism, with 660 citations. Inflammation is the high-frequency keyword outside of RA and miRNAs, and related researches have mainly focused on miR-146a and miR-155. CONCLUSIONS In the past two decades, extensive and continuous research has been conducted to investigate the role of miRNAs in RA, and miRNAs are widely recognized in the pathogenesis of RA. Related research has mainly focused on miR-146a and miR-155 that have shown promising results as key factors in RA experimental models. Focusing on clinical applications and translational research may be the future research direction and hotspot based on molecular biology basic research and mechanism exploration.

Abstract
Introduction It is well documented that librarian involvement in systematic reviews generally increases quality of reporting and the review overall. We used bibliometric analysis methods to analyze the level of librarian involvement in systematic reviews conducted at the University of Alberta (U of A). Methods Using Web of Science (WoS), we searched for systematic reviews completed in the years 2016-2020 with a U of A co-author. Systematic reviews identified through WoS were screened in two phases: (i) exclusion of duplicates, protocols, other types of reviews, and systematic review methodology literature to leave true systematic review publications, and (ii) screening for level of librarian involvement (acknowledgement, co-author, or no involvement). Results 640 reviews were analyzed for the following categories: (i) librarian named as a coauthor; (ii) librarian named in the acknowledgements section; (iii) librarian mentioned in the body of the manuscript; (iv) no librarian involvement. We identified 152 reviews who named a librarian as a co-author on the paper, 125 reviews named a librarian in the acknowledgements section, and 67 reviews mentioned a librarian in the body of the review without naming them as a co-author or in an acknowledgement. WoS Research Areas were used to identify disciplines that used librarian support and those that did not. A keyword network analysis revealed research areas that were very active in producing systematic reviews, while also providing information on the areas publishing systematic reviews without librarian support. Conclusion There is a great deal of variation in how the work of librarians is reflected in systematic reviews. This was particularly apparent in reviews where a librarian was mentioned in the body of the review but they were not named as an author or formally acknowledged. Continuing to educate researchers about the work of librarians is crucial to fully represent the value librarians bring to systematic reviews. Bibliometric analysis provides useful insights on service gaps for specific disciplines or research areas that are currently not using librarian support in systematic review publications, which can help inform service planning.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The cornerstone of a strong profession is the research that supports its knowledge base and practice. However, little is known about the range of international occupational therapy research. OBJECTIVE To explore the range and diversity of the international occupational therapy research from published peer reviewed literature in English during the year 2018. METHODOLOGY Limited to 2018, a review was conducted of sources from i) health-related search engines using search terms associated with occupational therapy practice, and ii) content pages of occupational therapy publications. Articles were excluded if they i) had no occupational therapy author, ii) were not peer reviewed, iii) not in English, and iv) did not include primary data collection (e.g., opinion pieces, position statements, study protocols). Of articles selected for analysis, data were extracted and synthesized according to the study's origin country, publishing research journal, the characteristics of the represented research, and its alignment with World Federation of Occupational Therapists research priorities. RESULTS A total of 4,169 articles were retrieved from the search (i.e., 3,459 from health-related search engines and 710 through a manual search of occupational therapy journals). After exclusions, 2,345 articles were included for analysis. CONCLUSION The review identified English published research was predominantly conducted in economically privileged countries. In addition, it revealed several research priorities that need further development such as evaluating the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In celebration of the journal's 50th anniversary, the aim of the study was to review the whole collection of Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology (CDOE) publications from 1973 to 2022 and provide a complete overview of the main publication characteristics. METHODS The study used bibliometric techniques such as performance and science mapping analysis of 3428 articles extracted from the Scopus database. The data were analysed using the 'Bibliometrix' package in R. The journal's scientific production was examined, along with the yearly citation count, the distribution of publications based on authors, the corresponding author's country and affiliation and citation count, citing source and keywords. Bibliometric network maps were constructed to determine the conceptual, intellectual and social collaborative structure over the past 50 years. The trending research topics and themes were identified. RESULTS The total number of articles and average citations has increased over the years. D Locker, AJ Spencer, A Sheiham and WM Thomson were the most frequently published authors, and PE Petersen, GD Slade and AI Ismail published papers with the highest citations. The most published countries were the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil and Canada, frequently engaging in collaborative efforts. The most common keywords used were 'dental caries', 'oral epidemiology' and 'oral health'. The trending topics were healthcare and health disparities, social determinants of health, systematic review and health inequalities. Epidemiology, oral health and disparities were highly researched areas. CONCLUSION This bibliometric study reviews CDOE's significant contribution to dental public health by identifying key research trends, themes, influential authors and collaborations. The findings provide insights into the need to increase publications from developing countries, improve gender diversity in authorship and broaden the scope of research themes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Herbal nanoparticles are made from natural herbs/medicinal plants, their extracts, or a combination with other nanoparticle carriers. Compared to traditional herbs, herbal nanoparticles lead to improved bioavailability, enhanced stability, and reduced toxicity. Previous research indicates that herbal medicine nanomaterials are rapidly advancing and making significant progress; however, bibliometric analysis and knowledge mapping for herbal nanoparticles are currently lacking. We performed a bibliometric analysis by retrieving publications related to herbal nanoparticles from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database spanning from 2004 to 2023. Data processing was performed using the R package Bibliometrix, VOSviewers, and CiteSpace. RESULTS In total, 1876 articles related to herbal nanoparticles were identified, originating from various countries, with China being the primary contributing country. The number of publications in this field increases annually. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Saveetha University in India are prominent research institutions in this domain. The Journal "International Journal of Nanomedicine" has the highest number of publications. The number of authors of these publications reached 8234, with Yan Zhao, Yue Zhang, and Huihua Qu being the most prolific authors and Yan Zhao being the most frequently cited author. "Traditional Chinese medicine," "drug delivery," and "green synthesis" are the main research focal points. Themes such as "green synthesis," "curcumin," "wound healing," "drug delivery," and "carbon dots" may represent emerging research areas. CONCLUSIONS Our study findings assist in identifying the latest research frontiers and hot topics, providing valuable references for scholars investigating the role of nanotechnology in herbal medicine.

Abstract
The development of tracheal tissue engineering (TTE) has seen a rapid growth in recent years. The purpose of this study was to investigate the global status, trends, and hotspots of TTE research based on bibliometrics and visualization analysis. Publications related to TTE were retrieved and included in the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to generate knowledge maps. Six hundred fifty-five publications were identified, and the quantity of the annual publications worldwide was on the increase. International collaboration is a widespread reality. The United States led the world in the field of trachea tissue engineering, whereas University College London was the institution with the greatest contribution. In addition, Biomaterials had a great influence in this field, attracting the largest number of papers. Moreover, the topics of TTE research largely concentrated on the biomechanical scaffold preparation, the vascularization and epithelialization of scaffold, the tracheal cartilage regeneration, and the tissue-engineered tracheal transplantation. And the research on the application of decellularization and 3D printing for the construction of a tissue-engineered trachea was likely to receive more widespread attention in the future. Impact statement In recent years, tracheal tissue engineering (TTE) has experienced rapid growth. In this study, we investigated the worldwide status and trends of TTE research, and revealed the countries, institutions, journals, and authors that had made significant contributions to the field of TTE. Moreover, the possible research hotspots in the future were predicted. According to our research, researchers can gain a better understanding of the trends in this field, and stay informed of the most current research by tracking key journals, institutions, and authors.

Abstract
Needle-type sensor, characterized by its slender, elongated shape, is a promising sensing method due to its rapid response, high sensitivity, and portability. Recently, the needle-type sensor technology has garnered increasing attention, leading to its accelerated development and extensive use in medical and healthcare, environmental monitoring, and geosciences. However, there remains a need for a comprehensive review of existing research. Here, we utilize scientometric analysis, which is booming recently, to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the needle-type sensor field. This analysis covers various aspects, including annual trends, journals, institutions, countries, disciplines, authors, references, and keywords of 136,667 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database spanning from January 1, 2004, to January 1, 2024. Additionally, we identify current hotspots, frontiers, and predict future trends. Eventually, three research hotspots are refined: multidisciplinary materials science, sensor miniaturization and integration, and biomedical engineering, indicating that further investigations may focus on creating biocompatible materials to enhance sensing properties, optimizing sensor structure through miniaturization and integration methods, and improving clinical applications in biomedical engineering. This work may facilitate the development of needle-type sensors.
