Abstract
Biosecurity encompasses the health and safety of humans, animals, plants, and the environment. In this article, "biosecurity" is defined as encompassing the comprehensive aspects of human, animal, plant, and environmental safety. Reliable biosecurity testing technology is the key point for effectively assessing biosecurity risks and ensuring biosecurity. Therefore, it is crucial to develop excellent detection technologies to detect risk factors that can affect biosecurity. An electrochemical microfluidic biosensing platform integrates fluid control, target recognition, signal transduction, and output and incorporates the advantages of electrochemical analysis technology and microfluidic technology. Thus, an electrochemical microfluidic biosensing platform, characterized by exceptional analytical sensitivity, portability, rapid analysis speed, low reagent consumption, and low risk of contamination, shows considerable promise for biosecurity detection compared to traditional, more complex, and time-consuming detection technologies. This review provides a concise introduction to electrochemical microfluidic biosensors and biosecurity. It highlights recent research advances in utilizing electrochemical microfluidic biosensing platforms to assess biosecurity risk factors. It includes the use of electrochemical microfluidic biosensors for the detection of risk factors directly endangering biosecurity (direct application: namely, risk factors directly endangering the health of human, animals, and plants) and for the detection of risk factors indirectly endangering biosecurity (indirect application: namely, risk factors endangering the safety of food and the environment). Finally, we outline the current challenges and future perspectives of electrochemical microfluidic biosensing platforms.

Abstract
Bovine serum albumin (BSA) has emerged as a biomarker for mammary gland health and cow quality, being recognized as a significant allergenic protein. In this study, a novel flexible molecular imprinted electrochemical sensor by surface electropolymerization using pyrrole (Py) as functional monomer, which can be better applied to the detection of milk quality marker BSA. Based on computational results, with regard to all polypyrrole (PPy) conformations and amino-acid positions within the protein, the BSA molecule remained firmly embedded into PPy polymers with no biological changes. The molecular imprinted electrochemical sensor displayed a broad linear detection range from 1.0 × 10-4 to 50 ng·mL-1 (R2 = 0.995) with a low detection limit (LOD) of 4.5 × 10-2 pg·mL-1. Additionally, the sensor was highly selective, reproducible, stable and recoverable, suggesting that it might be utilized for the evaluation of milk quality.

Abstract
Food analysis plays a critical role in assessing human health risks and monitoring food quality and safety. Currently, there is a pressing need for a reliable, portable, and quick recognition element for point-of-care testing (POCT) to better serve the demands of on-site food analysis. Aptamer-modified paper-based analytical devices (Apt-PADs) have excellent characteristics of high portability, high sensitivity, high specificity, and on-site detection, which have been widely used and concerned in the field of food safety. The article reviews the basic components and working principles of Apt-PADs, and introduces their representative applications detecting food hazards. Finally, the advantages, challenges, and future directions of Apt-PADs-based sensing performance are discussed, to provide new directions and insights for researchers to select appropriate Apt-PADs according to specific applications.

Abstract
Making the utmost of the differences and advantages of multiple disciplines, interdisciplinary integration breaks the science boundaries and accelerates the progress in mutual quests. As an organic connection of material science, enzymology, and biomedicine, nanozyme-related research is further supported by computer technology, which injects in new vitality, and contributes to in-depth understanding, unprecedented insights, and broadened application possibilities. Utilizing computer-aided first-principles method, high-speed and high-throughput mathematic, physic, and chemic models are introduced to perform atomic-level kinetic analysis for nanocatalytic reaction process, and theoretically illustrate the underlying nanozymetic mechanism and structure-function relationship. On this basis, nanozymes with desirable properties can be designed and demand-oriented synthesized without repeated trial-and-error experiments. Besides that, computational analysis and device also play an indispensable role in nanozyme-based detecting methods to realize automatic readouts with improved accuracy and reproducibility. Here, this work focuses on the crossing of nanocatalysis research and computational technology, to inspire the research in computer-aided analysis in nanozyme field to a greater extent.

Abstract
The evolution of food safety practices is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by a growing global population and increasingly complex food supply chains. Traditional methods are often labor-intensive, time-consuming, and susceptible to human error. This chapter explores the transformative potential of integrating microfluidics into smart food safety protocols. Microfluidics, involving the manipulation of small fluid volumes within microscale channels, offers a sophisticated platform for developing miniaturized devices capable of complex tasks. Combined with sensors, actuators, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, smart microfluidic systems enable real-time data acquisition, analysis, and decision-making. These systems enhance control, automation, and adaptability, making them ideal for detecting contaminants, pathogens, and chemical residues in food products. The chapter covers the fundamentals of microfluidics, its integration with smart technologies, and its applications in food safety, addressing the challenges and future directions in this field.

Abstract
Against the backdrop of continuous socio-economic development, there is a growing concern among people about food quality and safety. Individuals are increasingly realizing the critical importance of healthy eating for bodily health; hence the continuous rise in demand for detecting food pollution. Simultaneously, the rapid expansion of global food trade has made people's pursuit of high-quality food more urgent. However, traditional methods of food analysis have certain limitations, mainly manifested in the high degree of reliance on personal subjective judgment for assessing food quality. In this context, the emergence of artificial intelligence and biosensors has provided new possibilities for the evaluation of food quality. This paper proposes a comprehensive approach that involves aggregating data relevant to food quality indices and developing corresponding evaluation models to highlight the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of artificial intelligence and biosensors in food quality evaluation. The potential prospects and challenges of this method in the field of food safety are comprehensively discussed, aiming to provide valuable references for future research and practice.

Abstract
Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V. parahaemolyticus) is one of the important seafood-borne pathogens that cause a serious gastrointestinal disorder in humans. Recently, biosensors have attracted serious attention for precisely detecting and tracking risk factors in foods. However, a major consideration when fabricating biosensors is to match the low cost of portable devices to broaden its application. In this study, a 3D-printed integrated handheld biosensor (IHB) that combines RPA-CRISPR/Cas12a, a lateral flow strip (LFS), and a handheld device was developed for the ultrasensitive detection of V. parahaemolyticus. Using the preamplification of RPA on tlh gene of V. parahaemolyticus, a specific duplex DNA product was obtained to activate the trans-cleavage activity of CRISPR/Cas12a, which was then utilized to cleave the ssDNA probe. The ssDNA probe was then detected by the LFS, which was negatively correlated with the content of amplified RPA products of the tlh gene. The IHB showed high selectivity and excellent sensitivity for V. parahaemolyticus detection, and the limit of detection was 4.9 CFU/mL. The IHB also demonstrated great promise for the screening of V. parahaemolyticus in samples and had the potential to be applied to the rapid screening of other pathogen risks for seafood and marine environmental safety.

Abstract
The requirement to prevent foodborne illnesses underscores the need for reliable detection tools, stimulating biosensor technology with practical solutions for in-field applications. This study introduces a low-cost immunosensor based on a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-modified gold leaf electrode (GLE) for the sensitive detection of Escherichia coli. The immunosensor is realized with a layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly technique, creating an electrostatic bond between positively charged polyethylenimine (PEI) and negatively charged carboxyl-functionalized SWCNTs on the GLE. The structural and functional characterization of the PEI-SWCNT film was performed with Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM), and electrical measurements. The PEI-SWCNT film was used as a substrate for antibody immobilization, and the electrochemical sensing potential was validated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed a wide dynamic range of E. coli detection, 101-108 cfu/mL, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1.6 cfu/mL in buffer and 15 cfu/mL in the aqueous solution used for cleansing fresh lettuce leaves, affirming its efficiency as a practical and affordable tool in enhancing food safety.

Abstract
Water constitutes an indispensable resource crucial for the sustenance of humanity, as it plays an integral role in various sectors such as agriculture, industrial processes, and domestic consumption. Even though water covers 71% of the global land surface, governments have been grappling with the challenge of ensuring the provision of safe water for domestic use. A contributing factor to this situation is the persistent contamination of available water sources rendering them unfit for human consumption. A common contaminant, pesticides are not frequently tested for despite their serious effects on biodiversity. Pesticide determination in water quality assessment is a challenging task because the procedures involved in the extraction and detection are complex. This reduces their popularity in many monitoring campaigns despite their harmful effects. If the existing methods of pesticide analysis are adapted by leveraging new technologies, then information concerning their presence in water ecosystems can be exposed. Furthermore, beyond the advantages conferred by the integration of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), and big data analytics, a notable outcome is the attainment of a heightened degree of granularity in the information of water ecosystems. Abstract
The digital revolution is reshaping various aspects of society, including having a profound impact on food security and the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study investigates the relationship between digital transformation, quantified through the components of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), and SDGs related to food (SDG1, SDG2, SDG3, and SDG10), along with the overall SDG Index score. The data used for investigation are sourced from reports issued by the European Commission concerning DESI, as well as the SDG reports for the period from 2017 to 2022. The paper elucidates how different components of digitalization, such as connectivity, digital skills, internet usage, and digital public services, influence the attainment of food security objectives and broader sustainable development targets using structural equation modeling and cluster analysis. The findings underscore the pivotal role of digital technologies in enhancing poverty alleviation, health and well-being, and, in particular, mitigating inequality. This study contributes to understanding the complex relationship between digital transformation and food security, offering insights for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders aiming to leverage technology for advancing SDGs and fostering a more equitable and sustainable future.

Abstract
Glucose oxidase (GOx) activity assays are vital for various applications, including glucose metabolism estimation and fungal testing. However, conventional methods involve time-consuming and complex procedures. In this study, we present a colorimetric platform for in situ GOx activity measurement utilizing redox-sensitive electrochromic nanoparticles based on polyaniline (PAni). The glucose-adsorbed colorimetric paper sensor, herein termed Glu@CPS, is created by immobilizing ferrocene and glucose onto paper substrates that have been functionalized with PAni nanoparticles. Glu@CPS not only demonstrated rapid detection (within 5 min) but also exhibited remarkable selectivity for GOx and a limit of detection as low as 1.25 μM. Moreover, Glu@CPS demonstrated consistent accuracy in the measurement of GOx activity, exhibiting no deviations even after being stored at ambient temperature for a duration of one month. To further corroborate the effectiveness of this method, we applied Glu@CPS in the detection of GOx activity in a moldy red wine. The results highlight the promising potential of Glu@CPS as a convenient and precise platform for GOx activity measurement in diverse applications including food quality control, environmental monitoring, and early detection of fungal contamination.

Abstract
PCR amplification technology is the cornerstone of molecular biology. All-in-One PCR tube, as an emerging integrated device, is booming in biosensors application. All-in-One PCR tube biosensors are integrated PCR tubes designed for signal recognition, signal amplification or signal output. They enable "one-pot" detection within functionally modified and intelligently fabricated PCR tubes, effectively overcoming the limitations of conventional PCR applications, like complex procedural steps, risk of contamination and so on. Based on this, the review article summarizes the recent advance of All-in-One PCR tube biosensors for the first time as well as systematically categorizes five approaches of functional modification, three types of intelligent fabrication and relevant property characterization techniques. More emphasis is placed on the review of five ways of functional modification, including physical modification, chemical modification, UV photografting surface treatment, plasma surface modification, and layer-by-layer assembly coating. Moreover, All-in-One PCR tube biosensors covering different recognition elements range from small molecules to protein are detailed discussed on principle of sensing, providing a deeper understanding of the design and application of All-in-One-tube biosensor. Last, the future opportunities and challenges in this fascinating field are also deliberated.

Abstract
Food safety is closely related to human health. However, the regulation and testing processes for food safety are intricate and resource-intensive. Therefore, it is necessary to address food safety risks using a combination of deep learning, the Internet of Things, smartphones, quick response codes, smart packaging, and other smart technologies. Intelligent designs that combine digital systems and advanced functionalities with biosensors hold great promise for revolutionizing current food safety practices. This review introduces the concept of Food Safety 4.0, and discusses the impact of intelligent biosensors, which offer attractive smarter solutions, including real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, enhanced traceability, and consumer empowerment, helping improve risk management and ensure the highest standards of food safety.

Abstract
The field of nanotechnology has witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, particularly in its application to medical diagnosis and therapy. Metallic nanostructures-assisted biosensors have emerged as a powerful and versatile platform, offering unprecedented opportunities for sensitive, specific, and minimally invasive diagnostic techniques, as well as innovative therapeutic interventions. These biosensors exploit the molecular interactions occurring between biomolecules, such as antibodies, enzymes, aptamers, or nucleic acids, and metallic surfaces to induce observable alterations in multiple physical attributes, encompassing electrical, optical, colorimetric, and electrochemical signals. These interactions yield measurable data concerning the existence and concentration of particular biomolecules. The inherent characteristics of metal nanostructures, such as conductivity, plasmon resonance, and catalytic activity, serve to amplify both sensitivity and specificity in these biosensors. This review provides an in-depth exploration of the latest advancements in metallic nanostructures-assisted biosensors, highlighting their transformative impact on medical science and envisioning their potential in shaping the future of personalized healthcare.

Abstract
Despite extensive commercial and regulatory interventions, food spoilage and contamination continue to impose massive ramifications on human health and the global economy. Recognizing that such issues will be significantly eliminated by the accurate and timely monitoring of food quality markers, smart food sensors have garnered significant interest as platforms for both real-time, in-package food monitoring and on-site commercial testing. In both cases, the sensitivity, stability, and efficiency of the developed sensors are largely informed by underlying material design, driving focus toward the creation of advanced materials optimized for such applications. Herein, a comprehensive review of emerging intelligent materials and sensors developed in this space is provided, through the lens of three key food quality markers - biogenic amines, pH, and pathogenic microbes. Each sensing platform is presented with targeted consideration toward the contributions of the underlying metallic or polymeric substrate to the sensing mechanism and detection performance. Further, the real-world applicability of presented works is considered with respect to their capabilities, regulatory adherence, and commercial potential. Finally, a situational assessment of the current state of intelligent food monitoring technologies is provided, discussing material-centric strategies to address their existing limitations, regulatory concerns, and commercial considerations.

The promising field of organic electronics has ushered in a new era of biosensing technology, thus offering a promising frontier for applications in both medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of organic electronics' remarkable progress and potential in biosensing applications. It explores the multifaceted aspects of organic materials and devices, thereby highlighting their unique advantages, such as flexibility, biocompatibility, and low-cost fabrication. The paper delves into the diverse range of biosensors enabled by organic electronics, including electrochemical, optical, piezoelectric, and thermal sensors, thus showcasing their versatility in detecting biomolecules, pathogens, and environmental pollutants. Furthermore, integrating organic biosensors into wearable devices and the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem is discussed, wherein they offer real-time, remote, and personalized monitoring solutions. The review also addresses the current challenges and future prospects of organic biosensing, thus emphasizing the potential for breakthroughs in personalized medicine, environmental sustainability, and the advancement of human health and well-being.

Abstract
Non-nucleic acid targets have posed a serious challenge to food safety. The detection of non-nucleic acid targets can enable us to monitor food contamination in a timely manner. In recent years, the CRISPR/Cas system has been extensively explored in biosensing. However, there is a lack of a summary of CRISPR/Cas-powered detection tailored to non-nucleic acid targets involved in food safety. This review comprehensively summarizes the recent advances on the construction of CRISPR/Cas-powered detection and the promising applications in the field of food safety related non-nucleic acid targets. The current challenges and futuristic perspectives are also proposed accordingly. The rapidly evolving CRISPR/Cas system has provided a powerful propellant for non-nucleic acid target detection via integration with aptamer and/or DNAzyme. Compared with traditional analytical methods, CRISPR/Cas-powered detection is conceptually novel, essentially eliminates the dependence on large instruments, and also demonstrates the capability for rapid, accurate, sensitive, and on-site testing.

Abstract
Ensuring food safety continues to be one of the major global challenges. For effective food safety monitoring, fast, sensitive, portable, and efficient food safety detection strategies must be devised. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous crystalline materials that have attracted attention for use in high-performance sensors for food safety detection owing to their advantages such as high porosity, large specific surface area, adjustable structure, and easy surface functional modification. Immunoassay strategies based on antigen-antibody specific binding are one of the important means for accurate and rapid detection of trace contaminants in food. Emerging MOFs and their composites with excellent properties are being synthesized, providing new ideas for immunoassays. This article summarizes the synthesis strategies of MOFs and MOF-based composites and their applications in the immunoassays of food contaminants. The challenges and prospects of the preparation and immunoassay applications of MOF-based composites are also presented. The findings of this study will contribute to the development and application of novel MOF-based composites with excellent properties and provide insights into advanced and efficient strategies for developing immunoassays.

Abstract
DNA hydrogels have gained significant attention in recent years as one of the most promising functional polymer materials. To broaden their applications, it is critical to develop efficient methods for the preparation of bulk-scale DNA hydrogels with adjustable mechanical properties. Herein, we introduce a straightforward and efficient molecular design approach to producing physically pure DNA hydrogel and controlling its mechanical properties by adjusting the degree of hydrogen bonding in ultralong single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) precursors, which were generated using a dual rolling circle amplification (RCA)-based strategy. The effect of hydrogen bonding degree on the performance of DNA hydrogels was thoroughly investigated by analyzing the preparation process, morphology, rheology, microstructure, and entrapment efficiency of the hydrogels for Au nanoparticles (AuNPs)-BSA. Our results demonstrate that DNA hydrogels can be formed at 25 °C with simple vortex mixing in less than 10 s. The experimental results also indicate that a higher degree of hydrogen bonding in the precursor DNA resulted in stronger internal interaction forces, a more complex internal network of the hydrogel, a denser hydrogel, improved mechanical properties, and enhanced entrapment efficiency. This study intuitively demonstrates the effect of hydrogen bonding on the preparation and properties of DNA hydrogels. The method and results presented in this study are of great significance for improving the synthesis efficiency and economy of DNA hydrogels, enhancing and adjusting the overall quality and performance of the hydrogel, and expanding the application field of DNA hydrogels.

Abstract
Liquid-solid triboelectric nanogenerators (L-S TENGs) can generate corresponding electrical signal responses through the contact separation of droplets and dielectrics and have a wide range of applications in energy harvesting and self-powered sensing. However, the contact between the droplet and the electret will cause the contact L-S TENG's performance degradation or even failure. Here we report a noncontact triboelectric nanogenerator (NCLS-TENG) that can effectively sense droplet stimuli without contact with droplets and convert them into electrical energy or corresponding electrical signals. Since there is no contact between the droplet and the dielectric, it can continuously and stably generate a signal output. To verify the feasibility of NCLS-TENG, we demonstrate the modified murphy's dropper as a smart infusion monitoring system. The smart infusion monitoring system can effectively identify information such as the type, concentration, and frequency of droplets. NCLS-TENG show great potential in smart medical, smart wearable and other fields.

Abstract
According to the latest statistics, more than 537 million people around the world struggle with diabetes and its adverse consequences. As well as acute risks of hypo- or hyper- glycemia, long-term vascular complications may occur, including coronary heart disease or stroke, as well as diabetic nephropathy leading to end-stage disease, neuropathy or retinopathy. Therefore, there is an urgent need to improve diabetes management to reduce the risk of complications but also to improve patient's quality life. The impact of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is well recognized, in this regard. The current review aims at introducing the basic principles of glucose sensing, including electrochemical and optical detection, summarizing CGM technology, its requirements, advantages, and disadvantages. The role of CGM systems in the clinical diagnostics/personal testing, difficulties in their utilization, and recommendations are also discussed. In the end, challenges and prospects in future CGM systems are discussed and non-invasive, wearable glucose biosensors are introduced. Though the scope of this review is CGMs and provides information about medical issues and analytical principles, consideration of broader use will be critical in future if the right systems are to be selected for effective diabetes management.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have excellent applicability in several fields and have significant structural advantages, due to their open pore structure, high porosity, large specific surface area, and easily modifiable and functionalized porous surface. In addition, a variety of luminescent guest (LG) species can be encapsulated in the pores of MOFs, giving MOFs a broader luminescent capability. The applications of a variety of LG@MOF sensors, constructed by doping MOFs with LGs such as lanthanide ions, carbon quantum dots, luminescent complexes, organic dyes, and metal nanoclusters, for fluorescence detection of various target analyses such as ions, biomarkers, pesticides, and preservatives are systematically introduced in this review. The development of these sensors for portable visual fluorescence sensing applications is then covered. Finally, the challenges that these sectors currently face, as well as the potential for future growth, are briefly discussed.

Abstract
Food safety is one of the greatest public problems occurring around the world. Chemical, physical, and microbiological hazards could lead to food safety problems, which might occur at all stages of the supply chain. To tackle food safety problems and protect consumer health, specific, accurate, and rapid diagnosis techniques meeting various requirements are the imperative measures to ensure food safety. CRISPR-Cas system, a novel emerging technology, is effectively repurposed in (bio)sensing and has shown a tremendous capability to develop on-site and portable diagnostic methods with high specificity and sensitivity. Among numerous existing CRISPR/Cas systems, CRISPR/Cas13a and CRISPR/Cas12a are extensively employed in the design of biosensors, owing to their ability to cleave both non-target and target sequences. However, the specificity limitation in CRISPR/Cas has hindered its progress. Nowadays, nucleic acid aptamers recognized for their specificity and high-affinity characteristics for their analytes are incorporated into CRISPR/Cas systems. With the benefits of reproducibility, high durability, portability, facile operation, and cost-effectiveness, CRISPR/Cas-based aptasensing approaches are an ideal choice for fabricating highly specific point-of-need analytical tools with enhanced response signals. In the current study, we explore some of the most recent progress in the CRISPR/Cas-mediated aptasensors for detecting food risk factors including veterinary drugs, pesticide residues, pathogens, mycotoxins, heavy metals, illegal additives, food additives, and other contaminants. The nanomaterial engineering support with CRISPR/Cas aptasensors is also signified to achieve a hopeful perspective to provide new straightforward test kits toward trace amounts of different contaminants encountered in food samples.

Abstract
Food safety has always been a major global challenge to human health and the effective detection of harmful substances in food can reduce the risk to human health. However, the food industry has been plagued by a lack of effective and sensitive safety monitoring methods due to the tension between the cost and effectiveness of monitoring. DNA-based hydrogels combine the advantages of biocompatibility, programmability, the molecular recognition of DNA molecules, and the hydrophilicity of hydrogels, making them a hotspot in the research field of new nanomaterials. The stimulus response property greatly broadens the function and application range of DNA hydrogel. In recent years, DNA hydrogels based on stimulus-responsive mechanisms have been widely applied in the field of biosensing for the detection of a variety of target substances, including various food contaminants. In this review, we describe the recent advances in the preparation of stimuli-responsive DNA hydrogels, highlighting the progress of its application in food safety detection. Finally, we also discuss the challenges and future application of stimulus-responsive DNA hydrogels.

Abstract
In consideration of relevance of antibiotic with food security, it is extremely desirable to propose sensitive and credible methods for antibiotic screening. Nevertheless, most of known approaches are developed based on fluorescence technique, which suffered from the interferences of background fluorescence and autoluminescence, and tedious labeling procedures, ascribing to the deficiency of high-performance and multifunctional dyes. Herein, we developed a novel iridium (III) complex (Ir-QAU)-based aptamer-promoted phosphorescence sensor for label-free, enzyme-free and highly sensitive detection of target antibiotic (kanamycin, Kan) based on target-switched hybridizing chain reaction (HCR). Ir-QAU was elaborately devised to present a signal-on response to G-quadruplex (G4) DNA against other DNAs due to its specific intercalation in G4 DNA and subsequent restriction of intra-molecular rotation. The recognition of H1 by Kan promoted the formation of Kan@H1 complexes, which hybridized with H2 and H3 via toehold-mediated hybridization reaction, subsequently switching HCR to produce large numbers of G4 DNA. Compared to Kan absence, abundant Ir-QAU was locked in G4 DNA to yield a significantly increased luminescence, which switches the luminescence analysis process of Kan with a limit of detection down to 0.38 pM. Furthermore, the Ir-QAU-based sensor was triumphantly applied to detect Kan in milk sample. We anticipate this work will disclose a new way to development of high-efficiency and practical luminescence sensor, and show a great potential for antibiotic-related food security.

The biosensor-based detection of aflatoxin is quick, cheaper, and needs less skilled personnel, therefore overcoming the shortcomings of conventional techniques such as LC/MS-MS, HPLC, and ELISA assays. 2D MXenes manifest as an efficient material for biosensing due to their desirable biocompatibility, magnificent mechanical strength, easiness of surface functionalization, and tuneable optical and electronic features. Contrary to this, aptamers as biorecognition elements (BREs) possess high selectivity, sensitivity, and ease of synthesis when compared to conventional BREs. In this review, we explored the most cutting-edge aptamer-based MXene-enabled biosensing technologies for the detection of the most poisonous mycotoxins (i.e., Aflatoxins) in food and environmental matrices. The discussion begins with the synthesis processes and surface functionalization/modification of MXenes. Computational approaches for designing aptasensors and advanced data analysis based on artificial intelligence and machine learning with special emphasis over Internet-of-Thing integrated biosensing devices has been presented. Besides, the advantages of aptasensors over conventional methods along with their limitations have been briefed. Their benefits, drawbacks, and future potential are discussed concerning their analytical performance, utility, and on-site adaptability. Additionally, next-generation MXene-enabled biosensing technologies that provide end users with simple handling and improved sensitivity and selectivity have been emphasized. Owing to massive applicability, economic/commercial potential of MXene in current and future perspective have been highlighted. Finally, the existing difficulties are scrutinized and a roadmap for developing sophisticated biosensing technologies to detect toxins in various samples in the future is projected.

Abstract
Traditional fermented alcoholic beverages (TFABs) have gained widespread acceptance and enjoyed great popularity for centuries. COVID-19 pandemics lead to the surge in health demand for diet, thus TFABs once again attract increased focus for the health benefits. Though the production technology is quite mature, food companies and research institutions are looking for transformative innovation in TFABs to make healthy, nutritious offerings that give a competitive advantage in current beverage market. The implementation of intelligent platforms enables companies and researchers to gather, store and analyze data in a more convenient way. The development of data collection methods contributed to the big data environment of TFABs, providing a fresh perspective that helps brewers to observe and improve the production steps. Among data analytical tools, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is considered to be one of the most promising methodological approaches for big data analytics and decision-making of automated production, and machine learning (ML) is an important method to fulfill the goal. This review describes the development trends and challenges of TFABs in big data era and summarize the application of AI-based methods in TFABs. Finally, we provide perspectives on the potential research directions of new frontiers in application of AI approaches in the supply chain of TFABs.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1, a secondary metabolite produced by fungi, is one of the most toxic mycotoxins that poses a major food security and public health threat worldwide. Effective sample pretreatment and high sensitivity detection techniques are urgently needed due to its trace amount in complex samples. Herein, an integrated detection strategy was developed by combining Mg/Zn-metal organic framework-74 modified Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Mg/Zn-MOF-74 @Fe3O4 MNPs)-based sample preparation and microchannel resistance biosensor for rapid and highly sensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 in food samples. The synthesis and characterization of Mg/Zn-MOF-74 @Fe3O4 MNPs was reported, which exhibited efficient separation and enrichment capacity when exposed to complex grain samples. The competitive immunoassay-based microchannel resistance biosensor enabled specific and high-sensitive analysis of aflatoxin B1 by using current as a readout, which caused by the blocking effect between the functionalized-polystyrene microspheres and microchannel. Under optimized conditions, this biosensor was capable to quantitatively analysis aflatoxin B1 from 10 pg/mL to 20 ng/mL, and with a limit of detection of 4.75 pg/mL. This integrated detection strategy has been tested for the quantitative detection of aflatoxin B1 in grain samples that is a potential protocol for food safety control and environmental monitoring.
