Abstract
The VCo-LDH/CS hydrogel beads were created by combining VCo-layered double hydroxide (VCo-LDH) and chitosan (CS) using a cross-linking process with epichlorohydrin. These beads were specifically designed to remove tetracycline (TTC). To characterize the VCo-LDH/CS hydrogel beads, several analytical techniques were used, with PXRD, XPS, FESEM, EDX, and FT-IR. The thorough characterization methods provided crucial information about the phase, crystallinity, morphology, surface properties, and chemical arrangement of the synthesized VCo-LDH/CS hydrogel beads. However, significant changes occurred in these important physical properties after TTC was adsorbed. These alterations in the physical characteristics of the VCo-LDH/CS hydrogel beads indicate that the TTC molecules have been successfully absorbed into the porous assembly of the adsorbent, filling the obtainable adsorption places and causing a decrease in the material's overall surface area, pore size, and pore volume. It was determined that a pH of 7 and an applied dosage of 0.02 g/25 mL were the most favorable conditions for achieving the highest adsorption capability of 546.6 mg/g. The Langmuir equation accurately represented the adsorption isotherm, and the kinetic information were evaluated using the pseudo-second-order model. Chemisorption was utilized for the adsorption procedure, demonstrated by an adsorption energy of 29.62 kJ/mol. Analysis of thermodynamic limits ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS° suggested that the adsorption procedure happened spontaneously, maintained by the progressively negative ΔG° as enthalpy and entropy values increased. This demonstrates the complex and changing nature of the adsorption procedure, with various potential mechanisms suggested to affect it, including π-π interactions, electrostatic forces, pore filling, and hydrogen bonding. The utilization of a Box-Behnken design (BBD) alongside Response Surface Methodology (RSM) enhanced the outcomes of the adsorption process.

Abstract
The discharge of herbicides is a primary contributor to water contamination, presenting significant environmental and public health hazards. Encapsulating herbicides in a chemical compound called MAl-MOF/CS-CMC hydrogel bead (MACC) made from magnetic aluminum metal-organic frameworks (MAl-MOF) and crosslinked with chitosan (CS) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) shows promise for potential use. The research successfully developed and examined MACC microspheres, utilizing various analytical techniques including PXRD, FESEM, TEM, FT-IR, and XPS. The efficiency of MACC in eliminating atrazine (ATZ) from wastewater was also simulated. Additionally, density functional theory (DFT) was employed to assess the electrical characteristics, reactivity, and arrangement of ATZ at a structural level. The results of the DFT analysis demonstrate a significant relationship between the locations of nucleophilic and electrophilic attacks and the molecular orbitals of the HOMO and LUMO. Using MACC as an adsorbent provides considerable advantages due to its expansive surface area of 860.92 m2/g and a pore size of 1.48 nm, meeting the mesoporous classification criteria outlined by IUPAC standards. In addition, it possesses a pore volume of 1.22 cm3/g. Nevertheless, following the adsorption procedure, the pore volume reduced to 0.78 cm3/g, and the surface area decreased to 650.42 m2/g. Several factors contributing to the capacity to attract and retain substances were analyzed. These factors encompass temperature, duration of contact, quantity of the attracting substance, initial atrazine (ATZ) concentration, and solution pH. The primary method of adsorption that was determined is chemisorption, as evidenced by the calculated adsorption energy of 29.3 kJ per mole. The thermodynamic analysis indicates that the adsorption of ATZ by the micropores of MACC occurs spontaneously and is characterized as endothermic, as evidenced by the positive ΔHo value and negative ΔGo value. It has been proposed that a range of adsorption mechanisms, including chemisorption, π-π interactions, pore filling, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions, may be responsible for removing the herbicide from the MACC material.

Abstract
Magnetic chitosan microspheres (Al@CTS@Fe3O4) were prepared for haem separation via chemical cross-linking of chitosan, Fe3O4 and AlCl3·6H2O. The properties of the Al@CTS@Fe3O4 microspheres were investigated through techniques including XRD, TEM, FTIR, BET analysis, SEM, TG, VSM, XPS and pHpzc analysis. The haem adsorption of Al@CTS@Fe3O4 was optimized via a Box-Behnken design (BBD) with three operating factors: Fe3O4 dose (0.5-1.3 g), AlCl3·6H2O concentration (0.25-1.25 mol/L) and glutaraldehyde dose (2-6 mL). The optimal haem adsorption effect was achieved with 1.1 g of Fe3O4, 0.75 mol/L AlCl3·6H2O, and 3 mL of glutaraldehyde. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms demonstrated that haem adsorption by the Al@CTS@Fe3O4 microspheres was best described by the pseudo-second-order model. The maximum adsorption capacity is 33.875 mg/g at pH 6. After six adsorption-desorption cycles, the removal of haem still reached 53.83 %. The surface adsorption mechanism of haem on Al@CTS@Fe3O4 can be attributed to electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, and n-π interactions. Thermodynamic calculations indicated that the adsorption process is spontaneous, with the microspheres preferentially accepting electrons and haem preferentially providing electrons. Consequently, the Al@CTS@Fe3O4 microspheres exhibit considerable potential as adsorbents for haem separation.

Abstract
This research presents a novel nanocomposite of ferrous metal-organic framework (Fe(II)-MOF) that has been encapsulated with chitosan matrix, leading to the development of a new adsorbent referred to as NH2-Fe(II)-MOF@CSC composite sponge. This composite sponge has shown effectiveness in removing radioactive thorium (IV) contamination from water sources. The adsorbent underwent characterization using techniques including FTIR, PXRD, BET analysis, and SEM. The adsorbent has a high surface area of 1360.8 m2/g. The most effective conditions for adsorbing Th(IV) were found to be a pH of 5, using 0.02 g of adsorbent dose per 25 mL, and maintaining a contact time of 100 min. The composite sponge demonstrated an impressive maximum adsorption capacity of 618.8 mg/g for Th(IV). The adsorption process was fitted to Langmuir isothermally and kinetically fitted to pseudo-second-order. Nonetheless, the relatively low adsorption energy of 6.22 kJ/mol suggests that the main adsorption mechanism is physisorption, which is marked by weaker van der Waals forces. This discovery could have implications for the material's potential for easy regeneration. In the analysis of the influence of temperature on the adsorption of Th(IV), it was discovered that the adsorption process is endothermic because the positive ΔHo value was 24.48 kJ.mol-1. Furthermore, a positive ΔSo value of 87.46 J.mol-1 K-1 suggests the existence of disorder at the solid-solution interface. Conversely, a temperature rise resulted in a higher negatively charged ΔGo, indicating that the adsorption process is spontaneous. The research also examined the mechanism of interaction, such as π-π interaction, hydrogen bonding, pore filling, and electrostatic interaction. It was noted that the adsorbent can be efficiently used for a maximum of six cycles, demonstrating its economic viability. The adsorption outcomes were optimized using the Box Behnken design (BBD).

Abstract
ABSTRACTResearch efforts are focusing on investigating cost-effective and ecologically friendly ways to create nanoparticles as a result of promising developments in green technology (NPs). This experiment focused on the effectiveness of using biochar (TWB) made from coffee waste to extract levofloxacin (LEV) from water. The conclusive results of the trials showed that TWB is an effective adsorbent for removing LEV from liquid solutions. The TWB produced through biological processes underwent comprehensive analysis using techniques such as X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement (BET), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The bioengineered TWB's exceptional crystalline properties, which closely resemble the monoclinic structure of bulk TWB, were confirmed by the XRD analysis. Based on the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) data, the synthesis of TWB Nanoparticles resulted in the formation of spherical particles with an approximate diameter of 40 nm, accompanied by a substantial surface area of 285.55 m²/g. The Pseudo-Second-Order model, which best captured Levofloxacin's adsorption characteristics, was evaluated on the TWB, and the results showed that external mass transfer was the main determinant of response rate. It was also found that the adsorption process was endothermic and spontaneous. The system was optimized using the Box-Behnken design (BBD) methodology. The achieved removal capacity of 1119.19 mg/g utilizing the tested adsorbent was determined to be reasonable when compared to the performance of other previously used adsorbents when evaluating the effectiveness of eliminating LEV. The process of LEV adsorption onto TWB involves a number of different mechanisms, such as ion exchange, π-π interactions, electrostatic pore filling, and hydrogen bonding. Following extensive testing in connection with a real-world sample, the adsorbent demonstrated remarkable efficacy, and it maintained good performance even after undergoing three further regeneration cycles. By adjusting the annealing temperature, we controlled the synthesis of TWB nanoparticles across a range of sizes in order to maximize their antibacterial capabilities. This research utilized a pair of Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and a pair of Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli) to evaluate the antibacterial efficacy of TWB.

Abstract
This research uses a novel TiO2@CSC.Alg composite sponge was created by encasing TiO2 nanoparticles in the natural polymers alginate and chitosan, resulting in a nanocomposite that is both ecologically friendly and biocompatible. Using the generated nanocomposite as a new environmentally friendly adsorbent, As(V) heavy metal ions were effectively removed from aqueous media. The following techniques were used to analyse the physicochemical properties of the obtained materials: pHZPC, FTIR, XRD, BET, SEM, and XPS. Utilizing nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms, the TiO2@CSC.Alg composite sponge's textural properties were identified. This revealed a BET surface area of 168.42 m2/g and a total pore volume of 1.18 cc/g, indicating its porous nature and potential for high adsorption capacity. Examine the effects of temperature, pH, dose, and beginning concentration on adsorption. The adsorption characteristics were determined based on equilibrium and adsorption kinetics measurements. The adsorption process was both pseudo-second-order (PSOE) and Langmuir isothermally fit. Chemisorption was the adsorption method since the adsorption energy was 25.45 kJ·mol-1. An endothermic and spontaneous adsorption process was indicated by more metal being absorbed as the temperature increased. The optimal conditions for adsorption were optimized via Box-Behnken design software to be pH of 5 in the solution, a dosage of 0.02 g of the TiO2@CSC.Alg composite sponge per 25 mL, and an arsenate (As(V)) solution the adsorption capacity was 202.27 mg/g are ideal for efficient adsorption. These parameters are critical in achieving the maximum adsorption capacity of the composite sponge for arsenate, which could be beneficial for water purification applications. Utilizing Design-Expert software's response surface methodology (RSM) and Box-Behnken design (BBD), the adsorption process was optimized with the fewest planned tests. After six successive cycles of adsorption and desorption, the adsorbent stability was confirmed by the adsorbent reusability test without any noticeable decrease in removal efficacy. Additionally, it displayed good efficiency, the same XRD and XPS data before and after reuse, and no change in chemical composition.

Abstract
Arsenic pollution control technology in water was important to ensure environmental health and quality safety of agricultural products. Therefore, the adsorption performance of three adsorbents for chitosan, sepiolite, and Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 (ZIF-8) were investigated in arsenate contaminated water. The results revealed that the adsorption capacity of ZIF-8 was higher than that of chitosan and sepiolite. The analysis of adsorption isotherm models showed that the behavior of ZIF-8 was more consistent with the Langmuir model. Furthermore, the adsorption mechanisms of three adsorbents for arsenate were investigated by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The analysis of FTIR showed that ZIF-8 maintained the stability of the interaction with arsenate by forming As-O chemical bonds. However, the effect of chitosan and sepiolite with arsenate was mainly physical adsorption. The analysis of XPS showed that the absorption of ZIF-8 with arsenate involved metal sites and nitrogen through the characteristic peak and the change of the binding energy. Furthermore, the impact of microplastics as a widespread coexistence pollutant in the water on adsorbent performance was investigated. The results indicated that the adsorption capacity of ZIF-8 was almost not affected by microplastics. The maximum adsorption amount of arsenate was changed from 73.45 mg/g to 81.89 mg/g. However, the maximum adsorption amount of chitosan and sepiolite decreased by 31.4 % and 11.6 %, respectively. The analysis of FTIR and XPS revealed that ZIF-8 enhances arsenate adsorption by forming N-O-As bonds in the presence of microplastics. This study provides scientific evidence for the management of arsenate pollution in water bodies, especially in complex water bodies containing microplastics.

Abstract
A potential bio-adsorbent material for removing Rhodamine B (RB) from aqueous solution is Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads. The adsorption capability of the material is probably enhanced by the use of a natural substance made of food-grade algae (FGA) and calcium alginate (CA), which has been cross-linked and loaded with ruthenium metal-organic frameworks (Ru-MOF). The Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads were analyzed by XPS, PXRD, FT-IR, and SEM. The nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm analysis of the Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads before and after the adsorption of RB revealed that had a surface area of 682 m2/g, a pore size of 2.92 nm, and a pore volume of 1.62 cc/g, that decreased after adsorption as the surface area reduced to 468.62 m2/g, while the pore volume reduced to 0.76 cc/g. indicating that the RB molecules occupied the available space within the pores of the material. The decrease in both surface area and pore volume specifies that the Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads' pores were able to effectively adsorb the RB molecules. The adsorption of RB against the Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads is affected by pH, adsorbent dose, starting RB concentration, and salinity. Controlling these factors can enhance the adsorption capability and effectiveness of the beads for RB removal. With an adsorption energy of 22.6 kJ/mol, the adsorption of RB onto the Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads was determined to be a chemisorption process, demonstrating a strong bond among the adsorbent and the adsorbate. The pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherms were used to suit the adsorption process. Because the adsorption procedure was endothermic, it increased as the temperature increased. By using this information, the adsorption conditions may be improved, and the beads' ability to absorb RB can be increased. Up to six reuses of the Ru-MOF@FGA/CA beads are possible without affecting their chemical makeup and maintaining analogous PXRD and FT-IR data after each reuse. The adsorption process can be optimized through the application of the Box-Behnken design (BBD) approach and may entail H-bonding, electrostatic forces, n-π stacking, and pore filling. The exceptional stability of the beads makes them useful for creating long-lasting and efficient adsorbents that remove contaminants from water.

Abstract
Excessive number of dyes in water is becoming the main cause of water pollution, which is very important to remove because it is harmful. Dye contaminated water is being treated by various methods. Adsorption method can be considered best for the study of dye removal due to several technological reasons. The adsorption method has also been emphasized in this study. In the present work, a nano-bio-composite was fabricated by growing manganese oxide nanoparticles on abundant cellulosic guava leaf powder. This allows nanocomposite to be prepared in large quantities at nominal cost. The characterization technique confirmed the irregular growth of manganese oxide nanoparticles onto the guava leaf powder. The electrostatic and non-electrostatic interactions was confirmed in between manganese oxide nanoparticles and the carbon structure of guava leaf powder. The massive functional groups were found to be in the prepared nano-bio-composite. The grain size of prepared material was in nano range. The developed nano-bio-composite was used to remove methylene blue from water. This showed a very good adsorptive capacity for methylene blue. The analyzed adsorption data was modelled through isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics models. The nature of the adsorption process was determined to be spontaneous and exothermic. The reusability test was carried out for five adsorption-desorption cycles. The reusability results suggested the better removal efficiency (%) in the first two cycles with only 20 % reduction in removal efficiency (%). The leaching test result revealed the good stability of MnO2/GL at neutral pH. It was a unique and cheap adsorbent of its kind, which had not been noticed anywhere before.

Abstract
Pharmaceutical contamination poses a significant threat to global health. Due to their high solubility in water, antibiotics are difficult to remove. This study produced and used sulfonated graphene oxide (SGO) to adsorb sparfloxacin from aquatic environments. UV-Visible, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), XPS, SEM, TEM, EDX, particle size, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and acid-base titration were used to characterize synthesized SGO particles. The BET technique determined SGO's surface area (32.25 m2/g). The calculated pHPZC of SGO was 2.5. Sparfloxacin adsorption onto SGO was analyzed using adsorption duration, medium pH, adsorbent dosages, antibiotic concentration, cations, and solution temperature. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model better described experimental kinetic data than the pseudo-first-order and Elovich models. Equilibrium isotherm data supported the Langmuir model, revealing a peak absorption capacity of 1428.57 μmol/g at 25 °C. The kinetic and isotherm models' applicability was assessed using error analysis. A thermodynamic analysis revealed an endothermic, spontaneous adsorption process with a change in entropy (ΔS) of 114.15 J/mol K and enthalpy (ΔH) of 8.44 kJ/mol. A regeneration analysis showed that SGO adsorption efficiency topped 86.4 % after five cycles.

Abstract
In the current investigation, we have reported on the preparation of Na-Mordenite (MOR) modified by tryptophan (MOR-NH2) nanocomposite was synthesized and characterized using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, XPS, and BET that represented that the MOR-NH2 has high surface area 288 m2/g and pore volume 0.38 cm3/g. This composite represented high efficiency in removal of food dye Azorubine (E122) was 1043 mg/g. Study all the factors that affected on the adsorption such as pH, dose, salinity, E122 dye concentration as well as study the adsorption isotherm models that represented that was fitted to Langmuir. Moreover, study the effect of time according to it the adsorption process was fitted to Pseudo-second-order, and the effect of temperature that approved that the reaction was endothermic, spontaneous, and chemisorption process. The MOR-NH2 nanocomposite was tested and proven to effectively inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli ATCC® 25922™ and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC® 25923™ at low concentrations. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first to report the usage of MOR-NH2 adsorbents for the removal of E122 dye in wastewater samples. The mechanism of interaction between MOR-NH2 and E122 dye was determining as it could be through Hydrogen bonding, pore filling, or through π-π interaction. This research offers a promising solution for purifying water sources that are contaminated with a variety of chemicals, microorganisms, and other contaminants.

Enhancing trimethoprim pollutant removal from wastewater using magnetic metal-organic framework encapsulated with poly (itaconic acid)-grafted crosslinked chitosan composite sponge: Optimization through Box-Behnken design and thermodynamics of adsorption parameters. Int J Biol Macromol 2024; 268:131947. Abstract
Trimethoprim (TMP), an antibiotic contaminant, can be effectively removed from water by using the innovative magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF) composite sponge Fe3O4@Rh-MOF@PIC, which is shown in this study. The composite is made up of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles and a rhodium MOF embedded in a poly(itaconic acid) grafted chitosan matrix. The structure and characteristics of the synthesized material were confirmed by thorough characterization employing SEM, FTIR, XPS, XRD, and BET techniques. Notably, the composite shows a high magnetic saturation of 64 emu g-1, which makes magnetic separation easier, according to vibrating sample magnetometry. Moreover, BET analysis revealed that the Fe3O4@Rh-MOF@PIC sponge had an incredibly high surface area of 1236.48 m2/g. Its outstanding efficacy was confirmed by batch adsorption tests, which produced a maximum adsorption capacity of 391.9 mg/g for the elimination of TMP. Due to its high porosity, magnetic characteristics, and superior trimethoprim uptake, this magnetic MOF composite sponge is a promising adsorbent for effective removal of antibiotics from contaminated water sources. An adsorption energy of 24.5 kJ/mol was found by batch investigations on the Fe3O4@Rh-MOF@PIC composite sponge for trimethoprim (TMP) adsorption. The fact that this value was up 8 kJ/mol suggests that the main mechanism controlling TMP absorption onto the sponge adsorbent is chemisorption. Chemisorption requires creating strong chemical interactions between adsorbate and adsorbent surface groups, unlike weaker physisorption. The magnetic composite sponge exhibited strong removal capabilities and high adsorption capacities for the antibiotic pollutant. The Fe3O4@Rh-MOF@PIC composite sponge also showed magnetism, which allowed for easy magnetic separation after adsorption. Over the course of 6 cycles, it showed outstanding reusability, and XRD confirmed that its composition was stable. The high surface area MOF's pore filling, hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking, and electrostatic interactions were the main trimethoprim adsorption mechanisms. This magnetic composite is feasible and effective for removing antibiotics from water because of its separability, reusability, and synergistic adsorption mechanisms via electrostatics, H-bonding, and π-interactions. The adsorption results were optimized using Box Behnken-design (BBD).

Abstract
Spray-dried niobium oxide coated with chitosan-activated carbon (NIC) was synthesized and used to remove doxorubicin hydrochloride and crystal violet from aqueous solutions under different parameters such as solution pH (2, 4, 6, and 8), contact time (1 to 9 h), initial concentration (20 to 200 mg L-1), and competing ions (0.1 M of CaCl2 and NaCl). The addition of 5 % chitosan-activated carbon to the matrix of niobium oxide slightly increased the specific surface area from 26 to 30 m2 g-1, with the introduction of a carboxylic functional group. This led to an increase in the amount of adsorbed doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOH) from 30 to 44 mg g-1 and that of crystal violet (CV) from 15 to 32 mg g-1 from the initial respective 100 mg L-1 at pH 8. The data from the concentration study fitted into Liu isotherm having adsorption capacity of 128 and 57 mg g-1 for DOH and CV respectively, while pseudo first and second order are more suitable for adsorption kinetics. The additional functional groups on the IR spectrum of NIC after the adsorption of DOH and CV confirmed the interaction between NIC and the adsorbates' molecules. The mechanism of adsorption was supported by DFT calculations.

Abstract
The indirect emission had a negative influence on the ecosystem of enormous amounts of harmful dyes into water. Fe3O4@Ag-MOF was successfully fabricated to capture Gentine violet (GV)) as a model example of cationic dye from their aqueous solutions was evaluated in this search as a method to eliminate dyes from water contaminants. FTIR, XPS, BET, TGA, SEM, TEM, and XRD have all been used to study this adsorbent in order to determine its structural and chemical characteristics as well as to interpret its binding mechanisms. According to the results of the characterization, the synthesized composite had a size about 45 nm, a surface area of 856.06 m2/g, and considerable magnetic characteristics (66.2 emug-1). Consequently, we created mesoporous surfaces that had a strong ability to interface and absorb GV dye. It is possible to use the pseudo-second order rate equation to characterize the kinetic profile., while the Langmuir equation fits isotherm models. At pH 9, maximum sorption capacities can reach 1.68 mmol.g-1. Additionally, the investigations of temperature profiles indicated the endothermic process and Thermodynamic parameters were discovered as, ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° The synthesized adsorbent had an interestingly high reusability of > 92 percent up to the sixth cycle. These findings revealed that a mixture of electrostatic interactions, π-π stacking, hydrogen bonds, and pore filling were involved in the GV adsorption mechanism. Fe3O4@Ag-MOF was successful in demonstrating its effectiveness as a point-of-use colour collection candidate from actual dyeing effluents.

Abstract
A natural material made of chitosan (CS) and algae (food-grade algae, FGA) was cross-linked and loaded onto a ruthenium metal organic framework to create a bio-adsorbent (Ru-MOF@CS/FGA composite sponge) with the aim of adsorbing and eliminating Brilliant green (BG) from aqueous solutions. A range of methods were employed to analyze the Ru-MOF@CS/FGA composite sponge, such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to ascertain the function groups, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to establish the surface morphology, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) to study of single and multi-phase polycrystalline materials. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area (BET) confirmed the adsorbent's high surface area and pore volume (826.85 m2/g and 1.28 cm3/g, respectively) and decreased to 475.62 m2/g and 0.74 cm3/g after adsorption. Determine the several factors that affect the adsorption process, such as pH, the adsorbent's dose, the initial BG concentration, and the effect of salinity. The adsorption process was fitted to pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherms. Dubinin-Radushkevich analysis revealed that the adsorption energy was 23.8 kJ/mol, indicating chemisorption as the mode of adsorption. It was discovered through examining the impact of temperature and computing positive-charged enthalpy and entropy that the adsorption process was endothermic, meaning that it increased in response to temperature. It is possible to reuse the Ru-MOF@CS/FGA composite sponge six times with acceptable efficiency, no change in its chemical composition, and comparable FT-IR, XPS, and XRD data before and after each reuse. Examine the mechanisms of adsorbent-adsorbate interaction, which may involve H-bonding, n-π stacking, electrostatic forces, and pore filling. The adsorption results were optimized with the Box Behnken-design (BBD).

Abstract
Activated carbon from apricot seeds (ASAC) was successfully made using a low-cost, straightforward synthesis process. With the use of various instruments, including XRD, XPS, FT-IR, SEM, and TEM, the adsorbent was demonstrated. The surface area of the ASAC that was given was also shown to be 436.8 m2/g. It was discovered that the synthesized ASAC has a fantastic capacity to absorb the anti-cancer medication doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX). Based on changes in temperature, pH, and DOX concentration, The DOX adsorption behaviour's mechanism was evaluated. The adsorption capacity of ASAC for DOX was greater at pH 6.0, according to experimental data as the adsorption capacity was discovered to be 951.13 mg/g. Adsorption equilibrium analysis revealed that, when compared to the other models, the Langmuir adsorption provided the best fit to the data that were collected. Additionally, The ASAC has validated the DOX activation energy of adsorption as a chemisorption technique. The kinetics of adsorption were shown to be fitted to pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The reaction was endothermic and spontaneous, according to thermodynamic data. Innvestigation the removal efficiency of ASAC to remove DOX from real watrer sample (tap water, effluent wastewater, and impact wastewater). It was suggested by the results that ASAC was a viable option for treating wastewater and adsorbing DOX. The synthesized ASAC has noteworthy cyclability and reusability characteristics due to its high efficiency (up to five cycles) and low cost (around 86 percent).

In the present work, UiO-66/xanthan gum/alginate bionanocomposite adsorbent was fabricated using the in-situ crosslinking-gelation method, characterized by different techniques, and finally used for the removal of methylene blue dye from aqueous solution. Adsorption studies were performed using batch experiments and the influencing operational parameters such as contact time, initial pH solution, temperature, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, pHPZC, swelling, regeneration, and reuse of the adsorbent were investigated. The various kinetic models (pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle diffusion) and isotherm models (Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin-Radushkevich) were used to analysis of the experiment results. The results were best fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models. The maximum adsorption capacity of dye on the adsorbent was obtained at 9.96 mg/g at pH = 11. The value of pHPZC for the adsorbent was obtained at about 8. According to thermodynamic parameters, the dye adsorption was found as spontaneous and endothermic due to the negative value of the ΔG° and ΔH°. After 4 times of reusability cycles, the adsorption efficiency remained above 86 %, which represented a certain regeneration ability. As a result, this research indicates that UiO-66/xanthan gum/alginate bionanocomposite can be utilized as a promising bio-adsorbent for azo dye removal from contaminated wastewater.

Abstract
This study aimed to develop a novel adsorbent designed for the removal of diclofenac sodium (DS) from water. The synthesized adsorbent, a composite sponge known as guava seeds activated carbon loaded calcium alginate (GSAC@CA aerogel), was created through the combination of powdered activated carbon derived from guava seeds and loaded onto a calcium alginate hydrogel. Characterization through SEM, XRD, FT-IR, BET, and XPS revealed a confirmed surface area of 738.82 m2/g. The investigation delved into assessing the influence of pH, initial DS concentration, and adsorbent dose on the adsorption of DS. Isotherm studies on adsorption suggested that a Langmuir model provided a good fit, indicating a monolayer adsorption process. Kinetic studies revealed a well-fitted pseudo-second-order model, shedding light on the dynamics of the reaction. The chemisorption nature was elucidated by the Dubinin-Radushkevich model, demonstrating an adsorption energy of 22.6 kJ/mol. These results affirm the potential of the GSAC@CA aerogel composite sponge as an efficient adsorbent for removing diclofenac sodium from water. Examination of the impact of temperature on the adsorption process revealed an endothermic behavior, indicating an increase in temperature. The positive change in entropy suggested the spontaneous nature of the reaction. Remarkably, the GSAC@CA aerogel composite sponge exhibited strong adsorption capabilities, achieving a maximum adsorption capacity of 489.97 mg/g. Across five consecutive cycles, the composite consistently demonstrated high-level adsorption, maintaining a removal efficiency of 87.77 %. The adsorption mechanism of diclofenac sodium (DS) on the GSAC@CA aerogel composite sponge was determined to encompass various processes, such as hydrogen bonding, π-π interactions, ion exchange, and electrostatic pore filling. Additionally, the adsorbent demonstrated successful regeneration over three cycles when applied to a real-world sample. The incorporation of the Box-Behnken design (BBD) introduced a strategic aspect to enhance adsorption outcomes, offering valuable insights for optimizing the adsorption process in practical applications.

Abstract
The study aimed to develop an adsorbent for extracting mercury (II) from water by combining chitosan beads with green copper oxide nanoparticles. This resulted in the synthesis of the CuO NPs@CSC composite sponge, achieved by loading CuO NPs onto citrate-crosslinked chitosan (CSC). Characterization involved X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The BET method confirmed a higher surface area of the adsorbent at 285.55 m2/g, suggesting its potential for effective mercury (II) removal from water. This research aligns with broader efforts in environmental science and nanotechnology to create advanced materials for water purification. The characterization techniques ensure the suitability of the synthesized material for its intended application, and the significant surface area enhances its capacity for contaminant adsorption. The study investigated the impact of adsorbent dosage, pH, and initial Hg (II) concentration on mercury (II) adsorption. Results showed a fit with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. Using the Dubinin-Radushkevich model (adsorption energy: 22.74 kJ mol-1), chemisorption was identified. Notably, the adsorption process was found to be endothermic, indicating that higher temperatures led to increased removal capacity and related parameters. This temperature influence was explored systematically. Additionally, the study concluded that the adsorption reaction was spontaneous, evidenced by a positive entropy change. This analysis contributes valuable insights into the thermodynamics and kinetics of mercury (II) adsorption in the studied system. The CuO NPs@CSC composite sponge achieved an impressive adsorption capacity of 672 mg/g. Even after five consecutive cycles, it maintained strong adsorption capabilities with 84.5 % removal efficiency. Remarkably, over six reuse cycles, there were no observable changes in chemical composition, and XRD peaks remained consistent before and after each cycle. The study delved into the interaction mechanism between the CuO NPs@CSC composite sponge and heavy metals. Utilizing the Box-Behnken design (BBD), the adsorption process was optimized for enhanced efficiency.

Abstract
This study investigated the efficacy of magnetic Sn metal-organic frameworks (MSn-MOFs) in removing the insecticide amoxicillin (AMX) from aqueous solutions. Our thorough experimental investigation showed that MSn-MOFs were an incredibly effective adsorbent for removing AMX. Several methods were used to characterize the material. BET investigation of the data displayed a significant surface area of 880 m2 g-1 and a strong magnetic force of 89.26 emu g-1. To identify the point of zero charge, surface characterization was carried out and the value was 7.5. This shows that the adsorbent carries a positive and negative charge below and above this position, respectively. Moreover, the impact of pH on adsorption equilibrium was explored. The results of kinetic models to explore the adsorption of AMX on MSn-MOFs supported the pseudo-second-order, and the adsorption complied well with the Langmuir isotherm. The results revealed that the overall adsorption mechanism may entail chemisorption via an endothermic spontaneous process with MSn-MOFs. The precise modes by which MSn-MOFs and AMX interacted may involve pore filling, H-bonding, π-π interaction, or electrostatic interaction. Determining the nature of this interaction is essential in understanding the adsorption behavior of the MOFs and optimize the adsorbent design for real-world applications. The use of the MSn-MOF adsorbent provides a straightforward yet efficient method for the filtration of water and treatment of industrial effluents. The results showed 2.75 mmol g-1 as the maximum capacity for adsorption at pH = 6. Additional tests were conducted to assess the adsorbent regeneration, and even after more than six cycles, the results demonstrated a high level of efficiency. The adsorption results were enhanced by the application of the Box-Behnken design.

Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop a novel adsorbent to eliminate mercury (Hg(II)) from water. A unique citrate-crosslinked La-MOF/citrate crosslinked chitosan composite sponge (La-MOF@CSC composite sponge) was successfully synthesized in an acidic environment using a one-step technique. Modifying the composition of adsorbent materials is a commonly employed strategy to enhance adsorption capacity, particularly for materials composed of metal-organic frameworks. The study investigated the impact of the composite sponge on the adsorption and removal of Hg(II). The composite sponge exhibited a maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) for Hg(II) at 765.22 mg/g and an impressive high surface area of 1208 m2/g. Various factors influencing the adsorption capacity were taken into account in this study. The adsorption isotherm and kinetics were modeled using Langmuir and pseudo-second-order equations, respectively. Consistent with thermodynamics, the adsorption process was identified as spontaneous and endothermic. The quantities of adsorbed substances increased with rising temperature. The La-MOF@CSC composite sponge demonstrated the ability to be reused up to five times with satisfactory efficiency, retaining its chemical composition and exhibiting similar XRD and XPS data before and after each reuse. The interaction between heavy metals and the La-MOF/CSC composite sponge was examined. Optimization of the adsorption outcomes was conducted using the Box-Behnken design (BBD).

Abstract
In this research, a polymeric composite based on a chitosan/bacterial cellulose (CS/BC) matrix filled with MIL-100(Fe) particles was prepared to solve the recyclability of issue MIL-100(Fe) particles and utilized as an efficient adsorbent for removing dacarbazine (DTIC) from wastewater. The adsorption capacity of the composite (CS/BC-MIL) was higher than both MIL-100(Fe) and the CS/BC polymeric matrix. The adsorption performance of the fabricated composite was evaluated through kinetics and isotherm studies. While isotherm studies revealed that the adsorption of DTIC onto the adsorbent can be well described by the Freundlich model, kinetics studies indicated that a combination of factors, rather than a single rate-limiting factor, are responsible for the adsorption rate. Thermodynamics investigation showed that the adsorption of DTIC to CS/BC-MIL composite is exothermic and occurs spontaneously. Additionally, due to the negative entropy change, it was established that the adsorption is governed by the enthalpy change. Exploring the solution chemistry revealed that the optimum pH for the adsorption process was about 4. Moreover, the CS/BC-MIL can selectively adsorb DTIC in the presence of other pharmaceuticals like doxorubicin (DOX). Furthermore, regeneration investigations disclosed that the composite holds its structural features and has an acceptable adsorption capacity after several cycles of adsorption/desorption.

Abstract
Due to inadequate pharmaceutical wastewater treatment, anticancer contaminants from the pharmaceutical industry frequently end up in the aquatic environment where they endanger aquatic life and humans. As a result, the appropriate treatment of wastewater that contains anticancer agents is crucial for pollution prevention. The purpose of this work is to assess the effectiveness of a Fe3O4@ZIF-8 nanocomposite as an adsorbent to remove of the chemotherapeutic drugs doxorubicin (DOX) from aqueous solution. SEM, XRD, BET, FT-IR, Zeta potential, and point of zero charge analysis were used to study the surface and structural characteristics of the Fe3O4@ZIF-8 nanocomposite. Via the proposed treatment, 804.84 mg/g elimination was successful under the following circumstances: pH = 6; Fe3O4@ZIF-8 dose = 0.02 g/25 mL; DOX concentration = 1.22x10-3 mol; adsorption time = 100 min; and shaking speed = 200 rpm. A investigation of isotherms shown that the Langmuir equation and experimental data suited each other quite well. The adsorption of DOX on Fe3O4@ZIF-8 was endothermic and spontaneous, in accordance with thermodynamic properties. Furthermore, the elimination of DOX was enhanced by the rise in solution temperature. The kinetic analysis revealed that the pseudo-second order was fitted by the model. The suggested adsorption method could recycle Fe3O4@ZIF-8 nanocomposite six times, with a modest reduction in its ability for adsorption. For all XRD reflection peaks, physical characteristics including strain rates were computed and the dislocation of was 4.7 × 10-6. Investigate the activity of the DOX towards COVID-19, breast and prostate cancer using molecular docking.

Abstract
Heavy metal ions that exist in groundwater and farmland jeopardize the ecological environment and are very difficult to remove because of the complicated actual environment. Raw bentonite-gelatin beads (RB-GT) and magnetic bentonite-gelatin beads (MB-GT) synthesized in this work would be an appropriate tool to solve this problem. Those beads are synthesized by a facile hybrid injection method. Their adsorption behaviors on Cu(II) ions were systematically investigated using the batch adsorption method. The beads were characterized by scan electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adsorption isotherm and adsorption kinetic study showed that the Cu2+ adsorption by MB-GT beads fitted the Langmuir model and the pseudo-second model. The adsorption maximum capacities reached 192.5 mg/g and 236.5 mg/g with Cu concentration of 1000 mg/L for RB-GT and MB-GT beads, respectively. The competitive adsorption with other heavy metal ions (Ni(II), Pd(II) and Cd(II)) were compared. The adsorption of Cu(II) mechanisms is also further discussed.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a material known for its multifunctionality, chemical stability, and high surface area, are now commonly utilized as an adsorbent for water treatment. The MOF (MIL-88(Fe)-NH2) was synthesized and used to remove the commonly used toxic herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from water. The MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 MOF was fully characterized using multiple techniques. A systematic investigation was conducted to evaluate the key parameters that impact the adsorption process, which include coexisting anions, adsorbent dosage, and solution pH. The adsorption isotherm was fitted using the Langmuir model, while the kinetics were fitted using pseudo-second-order. The adsorption process was both chemisorption and endothermic. The capacity for adsorption increased with rising temperatures. The MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 adsorbent has a maximum adsorption capacity of 345.25 mg g-1 for removing 2,4-D, significantly higher than previous adsorbents used for this purpose. The adsorption mechanism could be ascribed to hydrogen bonding, pore filling, π-π conjugations between the 2,4-D molecules and the MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 adsorbent, and electrostatic interactions. Furthermore, the adsorption capacity of MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 adsorbent showed only a slight decrease after five successive recycles, and it could be easily regenerated through solvent washing. When used in environmental water samples, especially those containing electronic wastes, the MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 adsorbent demonstrated satisfactory adsorption capacity and reusability. The MIL-88(Fe)-NH2 adsorbent is more practical and reusable and has better adsorption capacity and shorter equilibrium time compared to previously reported adsorbents.

Abstract
Faced with the pollution caused by particulate matter (PM) in the air, the prevalence of infectious diseases, and the environmental burden by use of nondegradable polymers, the existing filter materials such as meltblown cloth of polypropylene cannot satisfactorily meet people's requirements. In this study, Ag nanoparticles were loaded onto ZIF-8 particles by impregnation reduction to prepare the positively charged Ag@ZIF-8. The porous fibrous membranes of Ag@ZIF-8 with polylactide (PLA) were manufactured by electrostatic spinning technology. Due to the inherently charged feature of Ag@ZIF-8 particles and the presence of pores on fibers, the prepared membranes showed a stable good filtration efficiency of over 97 % at different humidity (30-90%RH, relative humidity). Meanwhile, the presence of charge on Ag@ZIF-8 and the synergistic effects of Ag and ZIF-8 particles made the membranes exhibit good antibacterial effects. The width of the inhibition zone of 3 wt%Ag@ZIF-8/PLA membrane reached 1.33 mm for E. coli and 1.35 mm for S. aureus, respectively.

Abstract
This comprehensive review explores the potential and versatility of biogenic materials as sustainable and environmentally benign alternatives to conventional adsorbents for the removal of drugs and dyes. Biogenic adsorbents derived from plants, animals, microorganisms, algae and biopolymers have bioactive compounds that interact with functional groups of pollutants, resulting in their binding with the sorbent. These materials can be modified mechanically, thermally and chemically to enhance their adsorption properties. Biogenic hybrid composites, which integrate the characteristics of more than one material, have also been fabricated. Additionally, microorganisms and algae are analyzed for their ability to uptake pollutants. Various influential factors that contribute to the adsorption process are also discussed. The challenge, limitations and future prospects for research are reviewed and bridging gap between large scale application and laboratory scale. This comprehensive review, involves a combination of various biogenic adsorbents, going beyond the existing literature where typically only specific adsorbents are reported. The review also covers the isotherms, kinetics, and desorption studies of biogenic adsorbents, providing an improved framework for their effective use in removing pharmaceuticals and dyes from wastewater.

Abstract
Eliminating pesticides is essential for lowering the dangers to our environment. To do this effectively, it is crucial to find adsorbents with remarkable adsorption capacities, easy retrieval, and separation. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been extensively recognized for their exceptional ability to absorb pollutants. Therefore, we used novel lanthanum metal-organic frameworks (La-MOFs) to eliminate deltamethrin (DEL) from aqueous solutions. We proved through experimentation that the La-MOF is an efficient adsorbent for DEL from water. A study of the material revealed that the adsorbent had a surface area of 952.96 m2 per gram and a pore volume of 1.038 cm3/g. These outcomes show how this substance can absorb particles. Utilizing kinetic models and conforming to the pseudo-second-order model, a thorough analysis of the efficiency of DEL adsorption onto La-MOF was conducted. To create a perfectly tailored approach, we utilized many parameters. The synthetic La-MOF adsorbent may undergo up to five steps of adsorption-desorption and has exceptional cyclability and reusability. To confirm purifying wastewater samples in the laboratory, the presentation of the established adsorbent was evaluated. For the management of industrial effluent and water filtration, the La-MOF adsorbent offered a simple and effective solution. Our investigation suggests that the method we describe for removing DEL from wastewater samples using the La-MOF adsorbent is unique.

Abstract
Heavy metal pollution is becoming increasingly serious. Heavy metal pollutants are nonbiodegradable and can be bioenriched through the food chain, and thus, they greatly threaten the environment and human health. Hydrogels, as an ideal adsorbent, have been widely used to treat heavy metal industrial wastewater. Sodium lignosulfonate hydrogel (LS) was prepared by free-radical grafting copolymerization, and nano-Fe3O4 particles were loaded in LS by an in-situ precipitation method (Fe3O4@LS). The magnetic properties and adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@LS are closely related to the load capacity of Fe3O4. XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM, TEM, BET, and TGA analyses of the materials were performed. Subsequently, the removal effect of the typical pollutant Cd2+ in heavy metal-polluted water was studied with Fe3O4@LS as the adsorbent. The influences of the Fe3O4@LS dosage and initial pH were investigated, and the adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics were further explored and discussed. Finally, the adsorption mechanism of Fe3O4@LS on Cd2+ was obtained. Results show that Fe3O4@LS has a more stable spatial network structure than LS, and the pore size, specific surface area and active sites increase. The maximum adsorption capacity can reach 88.00 mg/g when pH = 6 and the dosage of Fe3O4@LS is 1000 mg/L. The adsorption of Cd2+ by Fe3O4@LS conforms to pseudosecond-order kinetics and the Temkin isothermal adsorption model. Further mechanistic investigations show that the sorption of Cd2+ on Fe3O4@LS is mainly attributed to surface complexation, electrostatic attraction and coprecipitation. The coexistence of cations in water will inhibit the adsorption of Fe3O4@LS. Fe3O4@LS has superparamagnetism and a good response to an external magnetic field. The adsorption rate can still reach >60 % after four elutions with NaCl as the eluent. This material can be reused and has good application potential.

Abstract
This study aimed to comprehensively assess the performance of HKUST-1, a metal-organic framework (MOF), as an adsorbent for various classes of textile dyes, including direct, acid, basic, and vinyl sulfonic reactive dyes. Real-world dyeing scenarios were simulated using carefully selected combinations of dyes to evaluate HKUST-1's effectiveness in treating dyeing process effluents. The results demonstrated that HKUST-1 exhibited highly efficient adsorption capabilities across all dye classes. Isolated direct dyes showed the best adsorption outcomes, with adsorption percentages exceeding 75% and reaching 100% for direct blue dye (Sirius Blue K-CFN). Basic dyes exhibited adsorption levels of nearly 85% for blue dye (Astrazon Blue FG), while the adsorption performance for the yellow dye (Yellow GL-E) was the poorest. The adsorption of dyes in combined systems followed a similar trend to that of isolated dyes, with the trichromy of direct dyes yielding the best results. Kinetic studies indicated that the adsorption of dyes followed a pseudo-second-order model, with nearly instantaneous adsorption observed in all cases. Furthermore, most dyes adhered to the Langmuir isotherm, further confirming the effectiveness of the adsorption process. The exothermic nature of the adsorption process was evident. Importantly, the study demonstrated the feasibility of reusing the HKUST-1, highlighting its potential as an exceptional adsorbent for removing hazardous textile dyes from effluents.

Abstract
Photocatalytic degradation technology has developed rapidly in the treatment of organic pollutants due to its high efficiency, mild reaction conditions and easy control. In this paper, a series of heterogeneous photocatalysts, BWZ-en-R (BWZ = [BW11Z(H2O)O39]7-, Z = Zn, Cd, Mn, en = ethylenediamine, R = Merrifield resin), were prepared by using ethanediamine as a linker to immobilize Keggin-type transition elements substituting tungstoborates on Merrifield resin and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties of BWZ-en-R (Z = Zn, Cd, Mn) for the degradation of methyl red (MR) were investigated. The results show that the BWZ-en-R (Z = Zn, Cd, Mn) photocatalysts exhibited high photodegradation ability for MR under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, and were easily separated from the reaction media. The maximum degradation rate (%) of MR (40 mL, 25 μM, pH = 2) reached 96.4% for the BWMn-en-R photocatalyst (40 mg) after being irradiated for 30 min, making this a promising photocatalyst candidate for dye degradation. Moreover, the influences of some factors, such as the Z-substituted elements in the BWZ, the BWZ-en-R dosage and the MR initial concentration, on the photocatalytic degradation rate of MR were also examined.

Abstract
A chitosan/alginate/graphene oxide/UiO-67 (CS/SA/GO/UiO-67) amphoteric aerogel was synthesized successfully. A series of characterization experiments of CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 amphoteric aerogel was performed by SEM, EDS, FT-IR, TGA, XRD, BET, and zeta potential. The competitive adsorption properties of different adsorbents for complex dyes wastewater (MB and CR) at room temperature (298 K) were compared. Langmuir isotherm model predicted that the maximum adsorption quantity of CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 for CR and MB was 1091.61 and 1313.95 mg/g, respectively. The optimum pH values of CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 for the adsorption of CR and MB were 5 and 10, respectively. The kinetic analysis showed that the adsorption of MB and CR on CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 was more suitable for the pseudo-second-order and pseudo-first-order kinetic model, respectively. The isotherm study revealed that the adsorption of MB and CR was consistent with the Langmuir isotherm model. The thermodynamic study demonstrated that the adsorption process of MB and CR was exothermic and spontaneous. FT-IR analysis and zeta potential characterization experiments revealed that the adsorption mechanism of MB and CR on CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 depended on π-π bond, hydrogen bond, and electrostatic attraction. Repeatable experiments showed that the removal rates of MB and CR of CS/SA/GO/UiO-67 after six cycles of adsorption were 67.19 and 60.82 %, respectively.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of mesoporous silica nanospheres as an adsorbent to remove doxorubicin (DOX) from aqueous solution. The surface and structural properties of mesoporous silica nanospheres were investigated using BET, SEM, XRD, TEM, ζ potential, and point of zero charge analysis. To optimize DOX removal from aqueous solution, a Box-Behnken surface statistical design (BBD) with four times factors, four levels, and response surface modeling (RSM) was used. A high amount of adsorptivity from DOX (804.84 mg/g) was successfully done under the following conditions: mesoporous silica nanospheres dose = 0.02 g/25 mL; pH = 6; shaking speed = 200 rpm; and adsorption time = 100 min. The study of isotherms demonstrated how well the Langmuir equation and the experimental data matched. According to thermodynamic characteristics, the adsorption of DOX on mesoporous silica nanospheres was endothermic and spontaneous. The increase in solution temperature also aided in the removal of DOX. The kinetic study showed that the model suited the pseudo-second-order. The suggested adsorption method could recycle mesoporous silica nanospheres five times, with a modest reduction in its ability for adsorption. The most important feature of our adsorbent is that it can be recycled five times without losing its efficiency.

Abstract
The geochemical cycling of vanadium (V) in mining areas has attracted much attention. However, little knowledge was about the effects of tailing colloids on the fate and transport of vanadium in tailing reservoirs which was ignored before. This study investigated the interactions of tailing colloids from vanadium-titanium magnetite with vanadium. Colloid characterization, tailing leaching, adsorption, and column experiments of single and cotransport of tailing colloid with V were conducted. Results show that 98.08% V in the vanadium-titanium magnetite tailing was in the residual state with limited leachable V under various conditions. The adsorption of V to the tailing colloid was via electrostatic attraction and surface complexation on the heterogeneously distributed sorption sites on the colloid surface. The adsorption control step was the diffusion of V into the tailing colloid pores. The increase in pH and the decrease in ionic strength (IS) promoted the single transport of tailing colloid and V in quartz sand columns. In cotransport scenarios, V promoted the transport of tailing colloids via the surface coating effect. In contrast, the transport of V was retarded by the adsorbed tailing colloid on the quartz sand surface. The pre-adsorbed V in the column enhanced the subsequent transport of tailing colloids by electrical repulsion, while the pre-adsorbed tailing colloids facilitated the subsequent transport of V via cotransport of the released colloids with V. The high mobility of the tailing colloid and V and their cotransport in the porous media highly demonstrated the potential V pollution pathways that need to be taken into account.

Abstract
Three zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) materials including ZIF-8 (H2O), ZIF-8 (methanol) and ZIF-L were synthesized and applied to the adsorption and detoxification of gossypol in cottonseed oil. The characterization results showed three ZIFs materials had good crystal structure, thermal stability and high specific surface area. The ZIFs materials had also good adsorption performance for gossypol and their adsorption processes can be described by the pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetic models. Adsorption isotherm analysis indicated that Langmuir model expressed a better conformity than Freundlich model, suggesting that the adsorption was the single-layer adsorption on a uniform site. Furthermore, the spiked experiment showed that the detoxification rate of ZIFs materials in vegetable oil was 72-86 %. A satisfied detoxification rate of 50-70 % was found in the detoxification experiment of real cottonseed oil samples. Therefore, these results demonstrate the great potential of using ZIFs materials as detoxification in cottonseed oil.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have promising applications in environmental remediation owing to their precise directional synthesis and superior adsorption ability. However, magnetic COFs with pyridinic N have not been studied as bifunctional materials for the adsorption and catalytic degradation of dyes. Therefore, in this study, a magnetic COF with a pyridinic structure (BiPy-MCOF) was successfully synthesized using a solvothermal method, which exhibited higher methyl orange (MO) removal than other common adsorbents. The best degradation efficiency via the Fenton-like reaction was obtained by pre-adsorbing MO for 3 h at pH 3.1. Both adsorption and catalytic degradation resulted in better removal of MO under acidic conditions. The introduction of pyridinic N improved MO adsorption and degradation on BiPy-MCOF. The electrostatic potential (ESP) showed that pyridinic N had a strong affinity for MO adsorption. Density functional theory calculations confirmed the potential sites on MO molecules that may be attacked by free radicals. Possible degradation pathways were proposed based on the experimental results. Moreover, BiPy-MCOF could effectively degrade MO at least four times, and a high degradation efficiency was obtained in other dyes applications. The coupling of adsorption and degradation demonstrated that the as-prepared BiPy-MCOF was an effective material for organic dyes removal from water.

Abstract
Nanoplatforms applied for the loading of anticancer drugs is a cutting-edge approach for drug delivery to tumors and reduction of toxic effects on healthy cells. In this study, we describe the synthesis and compare the sorption properties of four types of potential doxorubicin-carriers, in which iron oxide nanoparticles (IONs) are functionalized with cationic (polyethylenimine, PEI), anionic (polystyrenesulfonate, PSS), and nonionic (dextran) polymers, as well as with porous carbon. The IONs are thoroughly characterized by X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, high resolution TEM (HRTEM), SEM, magnetic susceptibility, and the zeta-potential measurements in the pH range of 3-10. The degree of doxorubicin loading at pH 7.4, as well as the degree of desorption at pH 5.0, distinctive to cancerous tumor environment, are measured. Particles modified with PEI were shown to exhibit the highest loading capacity, while the greatest release at pH 5 (up to 30%) occurs from the surface of magnetite decorated with PSS. Such a slow release of the drug would imply a prolonged tumor-inhibiting action on the affected tissue or organ. Assessment of the toxicity (using Neuro2A cell line) for PEI- and PSS-modified IONs showed no negative effect. In conclusion, the preliminary evaluation of the effects of IONs coated with PSS and PEI on the rate of blood clotting was carried out. The results obtained can be taken into account when developing new drug delivery platforms.

Abstract
As their manufacturing and consumption have increased, pharmaceutical chemicals have increasingly been found in wastewater. It is necessary to look into more effective methods, including adsorption, because current therapies can't completely eliminate these micro contaminants. This investigation aims to assess the diclofenac sodium (DS) adsorption onto an Fe3O4@TAC@SA polymer in a static system. Through Box-Behnken design (BBD), system optimization was carried out, and the ideal conditions - adsorbent mass of 0.01 g and agitation speed of 200 rpm - were chosen. The adsorbent was created utilizing X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), allowing us to gain a comprehensive understanding of its properties. The analysis of the adsorption process revealed that the external mass transference was the primary rate-controlling step, and the Pseudo-Second-Order model demonstrated the best correlation to kinetic experimental results. An endothermic, spontaneous adsorption process took place. The removal capacity was 858 mg g-1, which is a respectable result when compared to other adsorbents that have been utilized in the past to remove DS. Ion exchange, π-π interactions, electrostatic pore filling and hydrogen bonding all play a role in the adsorption of DS on the Fe3O4@TAC@SA polymer. After careful examination of the adsorbent towards a true sample, it was determined to be highly efficient after three regenerative cycles.

Abstract
The photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes in waste water using carbon quantum dots (CQDs) remains a hot topic due to the importance of environmental protection. However, identifying suitable carbon resources and successful surface modification are still challenging. Herein, the hydrothermal method and surface modification of ammonia and thionyl chloride were applied to synthesize CQDs with different surface groups using PEO106PPO70PEO106 (Pluronic F127) as a carbon source. The average particle size of the as-prepared CQDs was in the range of 2.3-3.5 nm. The unmodified CQDs had the highest relative photoluminescence intensity, while all as-prepared CQDs exhibited abnormal photoluminescence located outside the scope of the visible spectrum. Interestingly, CQDs modified with ammonia achieved a degradation rate of 99.13% (15 d) for 50 mg/L indigo carmine solution, while CQDs modified with thionyl chloride reached a degradation rate of 97.59% (15 d) for light green SF yellowish solution. Therefore, in this work, two typical organic dyes can be effectively photocatalytically degraded by as-prepared CQDs, with suitable surface modification.

Abstract
Enzyme-coupled titanium oxide nanopowder samples were prepared usingdifferent volumes of vermiwash using a cost-effective soft chemical method and their photocatalytic efficiency was studied against Methylene Blue (MB) dye decomposition. The volume of vermiwash used in the starting solution was varied from 50 to 200 mL in steps of 50 mL and the effect of enzymes prevalent in the vermiwash on the photocatalytic activity of titanium oxide (TiO2) was studied. The resultant water obtained after the photocatalytic dye degradation was found to inherit the enzymes from the nanoproduct. This enzyme-activated treated water showed effective seed germination of black gram (Vigna mungo L.). The results suggested that the enzyme-coupled TiO2 can be used as an effective and eco-friendly material for the treatment of contaminated water and consequently the treated water can also be utilized for enhanced seed germination.

Abstract
Nanoplastics can be produced directly from some artificial products, such as cosmetics, or indirectly from the breakup of large pieces of plastic waste. They have a small particle size, large specific surface area, and stable structure and can concentrate toxic compounds in water. The discharge of nanoplastics into the water environment through urban piping systems or surface runoff may lead to the contamination of surface water resources, which poses a great threat to the safety of drinking water. As a common adsorbent, granular activated carbon (GAC) is widely used in the advanced treatment of drinking water. However, most of the studies focused on the transport ability of nanoplastics in quartz sand, and there is a lack of research on the migration behavior of nanoplastics in activated carbon media. In this study, the stability and pore characteristics of GAC were studied, and its regeneration efficiency was investigated. The transport curves of PSNPs, which have a particle size of 98 ± 9 nm and specific surface area of about 67 m2/g, were compared under different ionic strengths, ionic species, flow rates, pH, and humic acid (HA) concentrations. And DLVO theory was used to analyze the transport behavior of nanoplastics in activated carbon column. All experiments were performed at room temperature to make the results generalizable. The results showed that GAC had stable pore structure and excellent adsorption capacity. The surface area and pore volume of GAC are 759 m2/g and 0.357 cm3/g, respectively. And the regeneration rate of GAC can reach 90% and 83.3% after the first two regeneration cycles. On the other hand, at high ionic strength and low pH, the repulsive barrier between PSNPs and activated carbon gradually disappeared; then, more PSNPs were deposited in the activated carbon media, and the concentration of PSNPs in the effluent water was lower. Both the flow rate and HA promoted the transport of PSNPs, but the breakthrough curves of PSNPs did not change significantly when the HA concentration was further increased. At the same ion concentration, PSNPs tend to deposit on the surface of activated carbon in the background solution of Ca2+ compared with Na+. This study reveals the migration mechanism of PSNPs in the activated carbon filter column, which is of great importance to ensure the safety of drinking water and human health.

Abstract
The disproportionate potency of dyes in textile wastewater is a global concern that needs to be contended. The present study comprehensively investigates the adsorption of Navy-Blue dye (NB) onto bentonite clay based geopolymer/Fe3O4 nanocomposite (GFC) using novel statistical and machine learning frameworks in the following steps; (1) synthesis and characterization of GFC, (2) experimental testing and modelling of NB adsorption onto GFC following Box-Behnken design and three response surface prediction models namely stepwise regression analysis (SRA), Support vector regression (SVR) and Kriging (KR), (3) parametric, sensitivity, thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of pH, GFC dose and contact time on adsorption performance, and (4) finding global parametric solution of the process using Latin Hypercube, Sobol and Taguchi orthogonal array sampling and combining SRA-SVR-KR predictions with novel hybrid simulated annealing (SA)-desirability function (DF) approach. Under the given testing range, parametric/sensitivity analysis revealed the critical role of pH over others accounting ∼37% relative effect and primarily derived the NB adsorption. The statistical evaluation of models revealed that all models could be utilized for elucidating and predicting the NB removal using GFC, however, SVR accuracy was better among others for this particular work, as the overall computed root mean squared error was only 0.55 while the error frequency counts remained <1 for 90% predictions. GFC showed 86.29% NB removal for the given experimental matrix which can be elevated to 96.25% under optimum conditions. The NB adsorption was found to be physical, spontaneous, favorable and obeyed pseudo-2nd order kinetics. The results demonstrate the suitability of GFC as the promising cost-effective and efficient alternative for the decolourization of urban and drinking water streams and elucidate the potential of machine learning models for accurate prediction & elevation of adsorption processes with less experimentation in water purification applications.

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the doxorubicin (DOX) adsorption behavior on Fe3O4@Ag-Metal Organic Framework (Fe3O4@Ag-MOF). This adsorbent was effectively prepared using a simple synthetic process. Many instruments, including FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, and XPS, were used to characterized the new Fe3O4@Ag-MOF. Additionally, the presented Fe3O4@Ag-surface MOF's area was shown to be 586.06 m2/g with a size of around 43 nm. The composite that was made has magnetic properties that were quite strong (63.3 emu/g). The produced Fe3O4@Ag-MOF was discovered to have a fantastic ability to adsorb the anti-cancer drug DOX, with a 1.72 mmol/g (934.85 mg/g) adsorption capacity. On the basis of changes in temperature, pH, and DOX concentration, the DOX adsorption behavior mechanism was investigated. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@Ag-MOF for DOX was greater at pH 7.0, according to experimental data. The adsorption equilibrium also demonstrated that the Langmuir adsorption was regulated the best fit to the extracted data compared with the other models. Additionally, the activation energy of adsorption for DOX onto Fe3O4@Ag-MOF was determined, indicating the chemisorption process. The adsorption kinetics was shown in the well-known kinetic model of the pseudo-second-order. The adsorption thermodynamic measurements were documented according to according to the enthalpy (ΔH°), entropy(ΔS°), and Gibbs free energy (ΔG°) parameters demonstrated that the reaction was endothermic and spontaneous thermodynamic. The adsorption of DOX onto Fe3O4@Ag-MOF from real water samples (tap water, effluent wastewater, and influence wastewater) were investigated. It's interesting that the synthetic adsorbent had great recyclability 72.6 percent in the fifth cycle indicating that it was highly recyclable. After adsorption, the typical Fe3O4@Ag-MOF XRD peak intensities and locations were mostly unchanged throughout adsorption indicates the crystalline phase remained steady. The results indicated that Fe3O4@Ag-MOF were a good candidate for adsorbing the DOX and treating wastewater.
