Abstract
This study is the first to report the results of a scan of the official webpages of all public and private colleges and universities in the state of Oregon, including but not limited to student health services webpages and student handbooks, to identify available services, policies, and educational information on HPV vaccination. The purpose is to describe vaccination services (with a focus on the HPV vaccine), prevention efforts, and institutional policies on vaccination on college and university websites in Oregon. An online scan was conducted from September to November 2020 to collect and describe data from college/university websites across Oregon. Colleges/universities were obtained from the National Center for Education Statistics website. The final sample included 48 colleges/universities. Twenty colleges/universities have a health center with 11 providing the HPV vaccine on campus: most are large public universities and non-religious private colleges. A few religious private universities and one community college offer the vaccine on campus. More than half (n = 26) of Oregon colleges/universities had a webpage specifically designated for immunization information, but only 11 mentioned the HPV vaccine on their immunization webpage. Twelve colleges/universities recommend, and none require the vaccine. Information on HPV vaccination services and education was limited on college/university websites, especially on community college and religious private university websites. Most colleges/universities with a student health center recommend and offer the HPV vaccine on campus. College/university websites may be a low-cost and effective medium to increase HPV vaccination awareness, encourage immunizations, and prevent HPV-associated cancers.

Abstract
HPV vaccines are highly effective in preventing HPV-associated cancers; however, HPV vaccination uptake is low among Chinese students studying at U.S. colleges. The purposes of this study were to evaluate (a) perceived barriers and influential others trusted for advice regarding HPV vaccination and (b) factors (i.e. HPV vaccination, acculturation) related to barriers and influential advisors among 18- to 26-year-old Chinese students attending U.S. colleges. We used a cross-sectional design to obtain self-reported data in 2019 from a chain-referral sample of 213 Chinese students. Among 125 respondents who were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, the reported barriers to receiving the HPV vaccine included: (a) lack of recommendations from a healthcare provider, (b) lack of risk perception for HPV infection, and (c) limited knowledge about HPV vaccination locations. The influential advisors for receiving HPV vaccination were doctors, parents, self, nurses, and same-sex friends. Multivariate analysis revealed that unvaccinated respondents were more likely to report the following barriers to HPV vaccination: (a) lack of recommendations from a healthcare provider, (b) lack of risk perception for HPV infection, (c) limited knowledge about vaccination locations, and (d) uncertainty about effectiveness. High Asian identified respondents were more likely to perceive barriers related to limited knowledge about vaccination locations and uncertainty about effectiveness, while they were less likely to state nurses as influential advisors. Individuals who received one or more HPV vaccine doses were more inclined to view same-sex friends and nurses as influential advisors for HPV vaccination. The influence of culture on preferences for information sources, such as specific providers and provider gender, needs to be addressed. Programs designed to decrease barriers and improve HPV vaccination among Chinese students should also focus on acculturation status.

Abstract
Objective: To identify facilitators and barriers to human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among college students.Methods: A cross-sectional survey with college students (N = 306) between the ages of 18 and 26 was conducted using a computer-delivered survey via iPad. A survey was designed to assess HPV/HPV vaccine-related knowledge, beliefs, and vaccination practices.Results: Low completion rates for the HPV vaccination series (females: 28.9%; males: 11.5%) were observed among college students. The compliance was lower among students who were black American and did not speak English at home. In contrast, the compliance was higher among those who had received any recommendation for HPV vaccination, those with higher knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccine, and higher perceived benefits of vaccination.Conclusions: Increasing knowledge of HPV infection, including the benefits of HPV vaccination and health care providers recommending the HPV vaccine, may increase HPV vaccination among college students and reduce the incidence of the disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE to measure the HPV vaccination rate and knowledge about HPV and its vaccine among foreign-born college students; additionally, to measure the effect of acculturation and HBM constructs on the HPV vaccination behavior among foreign-born college students. METHODS a cross-sectional design with a non-probability sample of foreign-born college students was collected via a web-based self-administered survey that measured the HPV vaccination rate, assessed knowledge about HPV and its vaccine, and evaluated the effect of acculturation and HBM constructs on HPV vaccination behavior among foreign-born college students. RESULTS Foreign-born college students had moderate knowledge about HPV and the HPV vaccine, and about 63% were HPV-vaccinated. Perceived susceptibility, perceived barriers, and cues to action were significantly associated with the HPV vaccination behavior, while knowledge levels about HPV and the HPV vaccine and acculturation levels were not significantly associated with the HPV vaccination behavior of foreign-born college students. CONCLUSIONS The current study shows a moderate vaccination rate and moderate knowledge about HPV and its vaccine among foreign-born college students. Additionally, vaccination campaigns need to increase awareness about the susceptibility to acquiring HPV and minimize the barriers to receiving the vaccine to increase the HPV vaccination rate among foreign-born college students.

Abstract
In the USA, although college-aged populations are at the greatest risk for initial infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), they are one of the age-based populations with lower HPV vaccine rates, largely due to their lack of perceived need to vaccinate against HPV. Health communication campaigns can help address this perception. This research identifies college students' preferred digital media channels for future HPV vaccine communication campaigns. We conducted qualitative small group interviews with 28 students from one large southwestern university. We used an inductive approach to hand-code interview transcripts, develop a coding structure, and analyze themes that emerged from the data. More than half of the study participants had never heard of the HPV vaccine before participating in a small group interview. When asked how they prefer to receive information about the vaccine, students more often recommended creating educational videos featuring healthcare providers and other college students and sharing them on YouTube. Some students recommended creating and posting health information memes and infographics to Instagram to disseminate the most critical information students need to make an informed decision to receive the vaccine. Given the prominent role of social media and the popularity of video-sharing and image-sharing sites, health educators and communicators should utilize these technologies to promote the HPV vaccine, a cancer prevention resource.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination is essential for the WHO cervical cancer elimination initiative. In Cameroon, HPV vaccine uptake is currently 5%. To assess the knowledge, beliefs and attitudes of parents of young girls aged 9-14 years about HPV vaccines within rural communities in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. METHODS During January-May 2022, we conducted 45 one-on-one interviews using a semistructured interview guide in the localities of Mbingo, Njinikom and Fundong. Participants were parents of girls aged 9-14 years who speak English or Pidgin English. Healthcare workers were excluded. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analysed using ATLAS.ti V.9. Member checking was conducted presenting our findings and getting feedback from a focus group of parents. RESULTS Thirty-five mothers and 10 fathers were interviewed with a mean age of 42 years. Ninety-one per cent of parents had ever been vaccinated. Seventy-seven per cent had no or only primary school education. Thirty-two parents (71.12%) had daughters who had not been vaccinated against HPV. The themes identified include: perceived effectiveness of the HPV vaccine, affective behaviour (how they feel about the vaccine), accessibility (ability to get the vaccine), intervention coherence, ethicality (including parental informed consent), opportunity cost (future potential financial implications of cancer prevention), decision-making in the home (predominantly paternalistic), self-efficacy (extent to which education initiatives were effective) and quality initiatives (use of village infrastructure including fons/qwifons, village crier, healthcare worker presenting at the njangi house, schools and churches). Member checking with 30 women from two other communities confirmed our findings. CONCLUSIONS Lack of awareness concerning the availability and purpose of the HPV vaccination was prevalent. Use of mainstream media and top-down health education activities are not effective. Novel approaches should engage local community health workers and use established community social and leadership structures. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER ClinicalTrials.gov Registry (NCT05325138).

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV vaccine, college student's beliefs toward HPV, and HPV vaccine uptake between US and international college students studying in the US. Participants: The study was conducted using a sample (N = 588) of college students from a university in the South Central US. Methods: Study measures was derived from previously validated measures. Data were collected via an online survey using Qualtrics. Results: Significant differences were found in HPV awareness, HPV vaccine awareness, and HPV vaccine uptake between US and international college students. Conclusion: This study showed existing disparities between US and international college students regarding HPV and HPV vaccine awareness, and HPV vaccine uptake. College health centers can play a crucial role in raising awareness of HPV and HPV vaccination rates by organizing various intervention programs to reduce these disparities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to provide a detailed characterisation of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine awareness, knowledge and information sources in the HPV vaccine decision-making process of youth, both male and female, in Switzerland. DESIGN With a mixed-method study design, we conducted quantitative questionnaires and qualitative interviews, which lasted 20-45 min. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS We recruited participants, 15-26 years of age, in physicians' offices, in a local sexual health clinic, and during military enlistment. We administered quantitative questionnaires to 997 youth participants (585 male, 412 female) and conducted qualitative interviews with 31 youth (17 male, 14 female). PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES We assessed HPV vaccine awareness, knowledge, information sources and vaccination status. RESULTS In the study's quantitative component, 108 (20%) male and 262 (65%) female participants had received ≥1 dose of HPV vaccine. 697 (70%) participants were knowledgeable about the HPV vaccine. Females were more likely to be knowledgeable than males (342/412 (83%) vs 355/585 (61%); p<0.01). Younger participants in the sample compared with older participants were more likely to be aware of HPV vaccine (135/148 (91%) vs 695/849 (82%); p<0.01). The three most mentioned information sources were school health programmes (442 (53%)), healthcare providers (190 (23%)) and participants' social networks (163 (20%)). Overall, 554/710 (78%) participants had a female-gendered perception of HPV vaccine, a finding which was further supported and explained by qualitative data. CONCLUSIONS Despite a male HPV vaccine recommendation being made >4 years prior to the data collection, HPV vaccine knowledge was higher among females than males, and a female-gendered perception of HPV vaccine remains prevalent. Internet and social media were minor HPV vaccine information sources. Study findings demonstrate that HPV knowledge matters for HPV vaccine uptake and suggest that we should improve HPV information quality and access for youth, particularly by tailoring knowledge campaigns to young men.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. Persistent infection with HPV can cause various cancers; however, HPV vaccination can prevent infections associated with high risk, cancerous strains of the virus. As it relates to HPV, college age men have been identified as one of the catch-up vaccination groups. Among college age men, gaming is an extremely popular extracurricular activity. Further, video games have emerged as a popular public health intervention tool. Therefore, this study aims to collect qualitative data on how to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a gaming intervention to increase HPV risk perceptions, improve self-efficacy and increase intention to receive the HPV vaccine among male college students (18-26 years old). METHODS Four focus group sessions ranging from eight to ten individuals were conducted among male college students from one large research-intensive university in the South. Using grounded theory, data from focus group interviews were coded using NVivo software to identify emergent themes. RESULTS Participants emphasized that although customization was not viewed as important by college aged males, the ability to tailor in game experiences or experience different things each time they played (creative freedom) was more important. They encouraged that the digital game be created on a mobile platform, incorporate health messages, and be informative to reach their population. Furthermore, they suggested innovative way to disseminate the game, which included having health department/health care providers prescribe the game to patients as an end of clinical interaction strategy. CONCLUSIONS College age men, are natural avid gamers, enjoy game play, and can engage in learning online or offline. While platform preference varies among gamer type, college age men in our study emphasized that mobile based gaming is the most advantageous way to increase knowledge/awareness and encourage positive in game behavior which can impact out of game behaviors such as vaccination. Because of the level of access and natural disposition of mHealth technology seen as an "extension of the self", games for health developers should consider the mobile platform as the ideal for the target demographic.

Abstract
Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the most common reproductive tract virus. Most HPV infections occur during adolescence or young adulthood, and thus college students are one of the main target populations of HPV vaccination. However, data on knowledge of HPV and HPV vaccine as well as the intention to be vaccinated among Chinese college students were limited. The purpose of this study was to address this gap by investigating a sample of college students from four universities and analyzing the factors influencing their intention. College students (N = 343) filled in a survey comprised of demographic information, HPV and vaccine knowledge, and vaccination intention between September 2018 and January 2019. A descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to describe students' HPV-related knowledge and vaccination intention. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of HPV vaccination intention. The participants had low levels of HPV and HPV vaccine-related knowledge, as well as modest intention to be vaccinated. Significant differences were identified in gender, years of study, and perceived susceptibility of HPV infection. Students who perceived higher risk of HPV infection (OR = 6.659, p = .001), had higher level knowledge of HPV vaccine (OR = 2.697, p < .001), in junior (OR = 0.186, p = .006) and senior year (OR = 0.276, p = .015) had greater intention to get HPV vaccinated. The findings suggest that multiple-level efforts are continuously needed to target Chinese college students to increase their HPV vaccine knowledge and vaccination awareness to reduce HPV-related disease burden among this population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to assess the awareness and attitudes toward human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among female college freshmen and explore their willingness and associated factors to receive the HPV vaccine based on the information-motivation-behavior skills (IMB) model. METHODS From February 21 to April 30, 2020, a cross-sectional survey was conducted among female freshmen in seven colleges in mainland China. Socio-demographic characteristics, health-related awareness, knowledge of HPV, motivation, and behavioral skills toward HPV vaccination were assessed using questionnaires. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the influencing factors of willingness to receive the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months. RESULTS Among the 3867 students invited to participate in this study, 102 (2.64%) reported having taken the HPV vaccine. Among the unvaccinated participants, 59.89% had previously heard of HPV, and 32.08% were willing to take the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months. Willingness to get the HPV vaccine was associated with sexual experience(s) (AOR = 1.96, 95% CI: 1.25-3.08), family or friends with cancer (AOR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.04-1.48), having heard of HPV (AOR = 1.23, 95% CI: 1.03-1.47), and having actively searched for or having consulted on issues concerning HPV vaccine (AOR = 1.22, 95% CI: 1.02-1.45). In the dimensions of the IMB model, "perceived susceptibility" (AOR = 1.20, 95% CI: 1.09-1.31), "perceived severity" (AOR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.11-1.39), "subjective norms" (AOR = 2.09, 95% CI: 1.75-2.49), and "self-efficacy" (AOR: 2.95, 95% CI: 2.44-3.58) were positively associated with HPV vaccination acceptance, while "perceived barriers" (AOR = .60, 95% CI: .52-.69) negatively affected intention to get HPV vaccination. CONCLUSION HPV vaccination rates and willingness to receive the HPV vaccine in the next 6 months were found to be poor among female college freshmen in mainland China. Having a positive attitude toward HPV vaccination, creating vaccine-friendly social norms, and removing related barriers are important measures to promote HPV immunization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate (a) reasons for not receiving recommended doses of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, (b) the most influential recommending source in getting the HPV vaccine, and (c) associated factors among Chinese college students in the United States. METHODS A cross-sectional design utilizing a structured self-report questionnaire was used. PARTICIPANTS A network sample of 449 participants aged 18 or older completed the survey between March and May of 2018. RESULTS Only 172 participants (38.3%) had received the HPV vaccine. The most common reason was that participants had never received recommendations from healthcare providers regarding HPV vaccines. Recommendations from doctors were the most cited source in deciding HPV vaccine uptake. Factors associated with reasons and recommendation sources included attitudes toward HPV, gender, school year, age, major, and health insurance. CONCLUSIONS Healthcare providers play an important role in promoting HPV vaccination among Chinese college students. More research is needed for this understudied population.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) remains the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the U.S. despite widespread availability of a safe, effective vaccine. Although young adults are at greatest risk of HPV infection, extensive vaccine promotion and intervention efforts has been directed toward 11-12-year-olds. College students represent an ideal audience for HPV vaccine "catch-up;" however, research indicates inconsistent HPV vaccination rates within this demographic. An online survey assessing HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge and behaviors was distributed to all undergraduate college students at a large, public university in the Deep South region of the U.S. The primary outcome was receipt of HPV vaccination (binary response options of Yes/No). Logistic regression analyses were performed to determine predictors of HPV vaccination. Of the 1,725 who completed the survey, 47.0% reported having received at least one dose of HPV vaccine; overall series completion (series = 3 doses for this population) was 17.4%. The primary outcome was HPV initiation among college students, defined as having received at least one dose of the HPV vaccine. Results indicated substantial gaps in participants' knowledge of their vaccination status. Provider and parental recommendations as well as social influences were shown to significantly impact student vaccination status, emphasizing the importance of incorporating these elements in future interventions, potentially as multi-level strategies. Future college interventions should address HPV and vaccination knowledge and the importance of provider and parental recommendations.

Abstract
We identified factors associated with student nurses’ Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) vaccination status and their intention to counsel parents on HPV vaccination. Undergraduate student nurses (N = 153) from a large university in the south participated. Descriptive statistics, chi-squared tests, and independent t-tests (p ≤ 0.05) were used to characterize the students’ vaccination status. Logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with vaccination status. HPV vaccination rates were low. Students who were older and married or living with a partner were less likely to have completed the HPV vaccine series. The most commonly cited reason for non-initiation and non-completion was the lack of provider endorsement. Vaccination status did not differ significantly according to race/ethnicity, religion, skills, or intention to counsel parents. While intentions to counsel parents on HPV vaccination are high among student nurses, interventions to improve vaccination rates among student nurses are needed.

Abstract
Limited awareness and low uptake rate of Human papillomavirus (HPV) prevention strategies among females require the development of more effective educational interventions. Regulatory focus theory posits the matching of framing valence with the recipients' regulatory focus increases persuasiveness. Following regulatory focus theory, we examined how individual regulatory focus changed the effects of gain- and loss-framed messages on promoting consistent condom use and HPV DNA testing for HPV prevention. We also explored whether this interaction effect impacts the influences of target individuals' initial attitudes about condom use and HPV DNA testing on post attitudes and intentions. Results of Study 1 showed that, in general, the gain-framed message fit with regulatory focus (i.e., promotion focus) promoted more positive attitudes about consistent condom use than the gain-framed message nonfit with their regulatory focus (i.e., prevention focus).Nevertheless, the gain-framed message nonfit with regulatory focus (i.e., prevention focus) strengthened the negative relationship between initial attitudes and intentions, which promoted the intentions to use condom consistently among people who initially held negative attitudes toward consistent condom use. In Study 2, we did not observe a significant interaction effect of message framing and regulatory focus in the HPV DNA testing context. However, we observed that the gain-framed message nonfit with regulatory focus (i.e., prevention focus) led to the changes in the significance of the initial attitudes - post attitudes relationship from significant to non-significant. Thus, the reliance on initial negative attitudes about HPV DNA testing in decision-making decreased. Theoretical and practical implications of our research were discussed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Asian-Americans have been documented to have low human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine initiation and completion. No research has attempted to examine underlying mechanisms of HPV vaccine uptake disparities among Asian-Americans. Using the P3 (practice, provider, and patient) model, this study aimed to identify practice-, provider-, and patient-level determinants of Asian-Americans' HPV vaccine intention and uptake. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of published literature regarding practice-, provider- and patient-level determinants of vaccine intention (e.g., intention, willingness, or acceptability) and uptake (e.g., initiation or completion). Eligible studies were those presenting empirical/original data, focusing on Asian populations in the U.S., including outcomes related to HPV vaccine intention and uptake, and analyzing data on factors associated with these outcomes separately for Asian groups. RESULTS Twenty-six studies (19 quantitative and 7 qualitative studies) were included in the review. Most commonly studied subgroups were Koreans (n = 9), Chinese (n = 6), and Cambodians (n = 5). Studies showed varied prevalence across subgroups (intention: 23.4%-72%; initiation: 14%-67%; completion: 9%-63%). Only 3 studies included measurements of practice-level determinants (language services, insurance policy). Twelve studies measured provider-level determinants (most commonly documented: HPV vaccine recommendation). All studies measured patient-level determinants (most commonly documented: HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge, perceived safety, perceived susceptibility, and perceived relationship between HPV vaccine and sexual activity). CONCLUSIONS Existing research on determinants of HPV vaccine intention and uptake among Asian-Americans currently lacks measurements of practice-level constructs and perspectives of clinic staff and providers, which are needed to guide system-level interventions and provider training. Data regarding patient-level determinants suggest that interventions for Asian-American populations can focus on providing educational information in culturally-appropriate manners, leveraging familial influences, and attending to access-related or cultural beliefs about HPV vaccine. Interventions should take into account varied vaccine intention and uptake prevalence in different Asian subgroups.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects adolescents and young adults from 9 high-risk HPV virus types that cause 90% of cervical and anal cancers and 70% of oropharyngeal cancers. This study extends our previous research analyzing online content concerning the HPV vaccination in social media platforms used by young adults, in which we used Pathfinder network scaling and methods of distributional semantics to characterize differences in knowledge organization reflected in consumer- and expert-generated online content. The current study extends this approach to evaluate HPV vaccine perceptions among young adults who populate Reddit, a major social media platform. We derived Pathfinder networks from estimates of semantic relatedness obtained by learning word embeddings from Reddit posts and compared these to networks derived from human expert estimation of the relationship between key concepts. Results revealed that users of Reddit, predominantly comprising young adults in the vaccine catch up age-group 18 through 26 years of age, perceived the HPV vaccine domain from a virus-framed perspective that could impact their lifestyle choices and that their awareness of the HPV vaccine for cancer prevention is also lacking. Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is considered the second most common type of cancer in women worldwide, with a reported 570,000 incident cases documented each year. Infection with certain types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) has been found to be associated with more than 99% of cervical cancers. The HPV vaccine can prevent HPV infection and most cases of cervical cancers; however the uptake of this vaccine remains low in Saudi Arabia. Physicians can play a vital role in providing their patients with objective information regarding the HPV vaccine, yet little is known about their knowledge, attitudes, and practices in this area. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study in King Abdul-Aziz Medical City (KAMC), Central Region, Saudi Arabia where data were collected through an online questionnaire to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of physicians. RESULTS Most physicians (61%) displayed a good level of knowledge about cervical cancer; 94% were knowledgeable of the causative link between (HPV) infection and cervical cancer. Family medicine physicians had better knowledge regarding cervical cancer, HPV, and HPV vaccination than pediatricians (p=0.023). Physicians with >10 years of practice had better knowledge of cervical cancer than other respondents (p=0.041). 80% of the sample thought it was important for women to receive the HPV vaccine and 82% stated they would allow their daughters to be given the HPV vaccine. Lack of parental knowledge of the vaccine was significantly (p=0.034) associated with a lack of knowledge about HPV, and this was one of the most common barriers preventing recommendation of the HPV vaccine. CONCLUSION With the increasing prevalence of HPV infections, better knowledge of HPV infection, HPV-related diseases, and the availability of HPV vaccinations from health professionals will assist with the implementation of effective prevention and treatment programmes.

Abstract
There is limited data on the HPV immunization status of Latino/Hispanic youth in the USA. In Los Angeles County in 2015, 54,973 (34.3%) college students were of Latino/Hispanic background. We examined Los Angeles County college students’ awareness of HPV and HPV-related disease, HPV vaccine recommendations, and their vaccination status. This study surveyed 212 Los Angeles college students from January to April 2018. In a convenience sampling study, a 31-question, IRB-approved survey was administered face-to-face to college students 18 years and older at California State University settings in Los Angeles County. Almost two-thirds of the male (65%) and half of the female (51.6%) respondents did not know that the HPV vaccine is recommended through 26 years of age, and 47.6% did not know they can get the HPV vaccine at the college student health center or youth-friendly clinics. Ethnicity, family income, and the highest level of education in the family had a significant impact on immunization rates. Self-reported and actual HPV knowledge levels were significantly associated with vaccination status. Educational strategies focusing on the logistics of receiving the HPV vaccine and HPV vaccine catch-up eligibility for college students may be effective in decreasing racial disparities in vaccine receipt.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Infection with high-risk (HR) genotypes of the human papillomavirus (HPV) is necessary for and causative of almost all cervical cancers and their precursor condition, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. These conditions have been sharply reduced by cervical cytology screening, and a further decrease is expected because of the recent introduction of prophylactic HPV vaccinations. While significant attention has been given to gynecologic HPV disease, men can be affected by HPV-related cancers of the anus, penis, and oropharynx. This literature review aims to address disparities in HPV-related disease in men, and certain HR male subpopulations, compared with women. DISCUSSION Overall, immunocompetent men are far less likely than women to develop anogenital HPV-related cancers, despite harboring HR HPV infections at anogenital sites. On the other hand, men who have sex with men and men living with human immunodeficiency virus infection are at considerably higher risk of HPV-related disease. Historic rates of prophylactic HPV vaccination in males have trailed those of females due to numerous multilevel factors, although, in recent years, this sex gap in vaccination coverage has been closing. In the absence of routine HPV screening in males, therapeutic vaccinations have emerged as a potential treatment modality for preinvasive neoplasia and are in various phases of clinical testing. CONCLUSION Successful reductions in HPV disease morbidity at the population level must acknowledge and target HPV infections in men.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes a number of cancers that disproportionally affect Latinos yet there is a paucity of research on interventions to increase HPV vaccination among this population. We sought to evaluate the efficacy of a web-based, individually customizable intervention, called CHICOs (Combatting HPV Infection and Cancers, tailored intervention) for its impact on HPV vaccine utilization. We conducted a three-armed, randomized, controlled trial in the waiting rooms of five family medicine practices from June 2014-February 2016 where CHICOS was compared to an iPad-based version of the Vaccine Information Sheet from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (untailored intervention), and usual care. Pair-wise comparisons between study arms of 6 different measures of HPV vaccine uptake were assessed, with analyses stratified by adolescents versus young adults. Of the 1,294 participants enrolled in the study, 1,013 individuals could be assessed for vaccination. Across study arms, 265 adolescents, but only 18 young adults, received an HPV vaccine dose during the study period. In both intention-to-treat and per-protocol analyses there were essentially no differences between the CHICOS and untailored arms in any vaccination measure, or between the untailored or CHICOS arms and usual care. Our study suggests that a tailored educational intervention may not be effective for increasing HPV vaccine uptake among Latino adolescents or young adults. However, the higher than expected baseline levels of positive vaccination attitudes of study participants could have diminished the statistical power of the study.
