Abstract
BACKGROUND The Menstrual Distress Questionnaire (MDQ) is a commonly used questionnaire that assesses various symptoms and distress associated with the menstrual cycle in women. However, the questionnaire has not been completely translated into Chinese with rigorous reliability and validity testing. METHODS This study translated the Menstrual Distress Questionnaire Form Cycle (MDQC) from English into Chinese: MDQCC in two stages. First, it was translated forward and backward using Jones' model; second, to test the validity and reliability, 210 Chinese-speaking women were recruited through online announcements and posters posted between June 2019 and May 2020. Expert validity, construct validity, convergent validity, and factorial validity were determined using content validity index (CVI), intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), composite reliability (CR), and exploratory factor analysis, respectively. For concurrent criterion validity, MDQCC score was compared with three existing pain scales. Reliability was evaluated using internal consistency across items and two-week test-retest reliability over time. RESULTS The CVI for content validity was .92. Item-CVI for expert validities among the 46 items ranged from .50 - 1; scale-CVI for the eight subscales, from .87 - 1; ICC, from .650 - .897; and CRs, from .303 - .881. Pearson correlation coefficients between MDQCC and short-form McGill pain questionnaire, present pain intensity, and visual analog scale scores were .640, .519, and .575, respectively. Cronbach's α for internal consistency was satisfactory (.932). ICC for test-retest reliability was .852 for the entire MDQCC. CONCLUSION MDQCC was valid and reliable for Mandarin Chinese-speaking women. It can be used to evaluate female psychiatric symptoms related to the menstrual cycle in future work.

Abstract
This exploratory study examines the relationship between the eccentric utilization ratio (EUR) and the rate of force development (RFD) in squat jumps (SJ). EUR, a key metric in sports science, compares performance in countermovement jumps (CMJ) and squat jumps (SJ). The study hypothesizes that a higher EUR is associated with a poorer RFD in SJ. Basketball and soccer players, long-distance runners, alongside physical education students (209 men; age: 23.2 ± 4.95 years and 104 women; age: 22.7 ± 4.42 years) participated. The EUR was calculated from jump height, peak force and peak power. The results indicated a small to moderate but significant negative correlation between EUR based on peak force or peak power and RFD in SJ (r = -.41 and -.27), suggesting that a higher EUR might be linked to a diminished ability to rapidly develop force in SJ. Thus, a higher EUR may not indicate superior athletic performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People post-stroke experience increased loneliness, compared to their healthy peers and loneliness may have increased during COVID due to social distancing. How social distancing affected loneliness among people after stroke is unknown. Bandura's self-efficacy theory suggests that self-efficacy may be a critical component affecting individuals' emotions, behaviors, attitudes, and interpretation of everyday situations. Additionally, previous studies indicate that self-efficacy is associated with both loneliness and social participation. This study investigates relationships among self-efficacy, social participation, and loneliness in people with stroke. OBJECTIVES Determine how social participation affects the relationship between self-efficacy and loneliness in people with stroke during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS 44 participants were community-dwelling individuals, ≥ 6 months post-stroke who participated in a 2-hour phone interview. A regression-based mediation analysis was conducted using these measures: Participation Strategies Self-Efficacy Scale, Activity Card Sort for social participation, and UCLA Loneliness Scale for loneliness. RESULTS The total effect of self-efficacy on loneliness was significant (b = -0.36, p = .01). However, social participation fully mediated the relationship between self-efficacy and loneliness (indirect effect, b = -0.11, 95% CI [-0.24, -0.01]; direct effect, b = -0.25, 95% CI [-0.03, 0]). CONCLUSIONS Self-efficacy is associated with both social participation and loneliness in people with stroke in this cross-sectional study. Mediation analysis findings suggest that interventions focused on increasing social participation may prevent or potentially alleviate loneliness in people with stroke who have low self-efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Asymmetric joint load is the main cause of development of ankle osteoarthritis (OA). Realignment surgery aims to transfer ankle joint load from the degenerative area toward the uninvolved area. Determination of the optimal shift is still challenging. When the degenerative area is correlated to the ankle joint mechanical axis establishing an optimal target angle for corrective surgery may become more feasible. The primary aim of our study was to investigate if the area of ankle joint activation on single-photon emission computed tomography and conventional computed tomography (SPECT/CT) imaging correlates with the mechanical ankle joint axis point (MAJAP). METHODS In this cross-sectional study, patients 18 years or older with symptomatic asymmetric ankle OA and a hip-to-calcaneus long leg view with SPECT/CT of the affected ankle were eligible for inclusion. Primary outcome was MAJAP divided into 3 alignment categories (medial shift, neutral, lateral shift). SPECT/CT activation was determined in 8 different areas of the ankle joint. A Spearman rho correlation coefficient was calculated to investigate the relationship between the alignment categories and SPECT/CT activation in the 8 areas. RESULTS Forty-nine patients (mean age 58.8 [SD 10.0] years) with 52 ankles with moderate to severe asymmetric OA were included. A significantly (Spearman rho -0.379 [P = .006] and Spearman rho -0.279 [P = .045]) higher proportion of ankles with radioisotope uptake in the anteromedial ankle joint areas (zones 1 and 5) was seen in the medial shift category. A significantly (Spearman rho .312 (P = .025)) higher proportion of ankles with radioisotope uptake in the anterolateral ankle joint area (zone 8) was seen in the lateral shift category. CONCLUSION We found in this patient group that the area of SPECT/CT uptake in asymmetric ankle OA was associated to MAJAP measured on hip-to-calcaneus weightbearing views, although the strength of the correlation is weak to moderate. Consequently, nonweightbearing metabolic SPECT/CT radiotracer uptake has the potential to help determine the area to unload in ankle joint-preserving alignment surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Individuals with idiopathic adult-onset isolated cervical dystonia (CD) may have cognitive difficulties and increased mood challenges. Social cognition and executive functioning may be particularly affected. OBJECTIVE To explore social cognition and executive functioning performance in individuals with CD, using the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB), as previous research has used traditional, nondigital neuropsychological assessments. We sought to investigate the relationships between social cognition, executive functioning, mood, and disability in individuals with CD. METHODS We recruited 37 individuals with CD, including 26 women with an age range of 33 to 69 years (M = 56.64, SD = 8.31) from a dystonia clinic in a hospital neurology department. The individuals completed selected tasks from the CANTAB measuring social cognition and executive functioning. We compared the individuals' performance with CANTAB normative data. Depression, anxiety, disease severity, and disability were measured. RESULTS The individuals with CD had significantly lower scores than the CANTAB normative data in both social cognition and executive functioning tasks, with the largest differences evident in problem-solving, attention, and positive emotion bias tasks. Poorer emotion recognition was associated with increased difficulties in problem-solving tasks. The individuals demonstrated a bias toward identifying happiness in facial affect, which was related to a poorer recognition of emotions. Cognitive performance was not related to CD severity or disability or to current mood symptoms. CONCLUSION Difficulties with both social cognition and executive functioning were identified in the individuals with CD, and are likely important targets for clinical interventions.

Abstract
Background: Lymphedema is a common complication after mastectomy in women with breast cancer. Several methods have been described to assess and diagnose lymphedema, one of the most studied being the perimeter and ultrasonography. However, the reliability of these methods and the correlation between them are still controversial. The aim of this study was to analyze the reliability of cytometry and ultrasound imaging in the assessment of lymphedema after mastectomy in women with breast cancer and to study the correlation between them. Methods and Results: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 29 women with mastectomy after breast cancer. Lymphedema in the arm was measured both with cytometry and ultrasonography. Reliability was calculated with intraclass correlation coefficient. The correlation between the two methods was carried out with the Pearson correlation coefficient. Both cytometry (M1: α = 0.999, ICC = 0.996; M2=: α = 0.998, ICC = 0.994) and ultrasonography (M1: α = 0.992, ICC = 0.976; M2=: α = 0.991, ICC = 0.973) are reliable methods to assess lymphedema in the arm. No significant correlation was found between them (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Cytometry and ultrasonography appear to be adequate for the measurement of edema in women with breast cancer after mastectomy. However, for an accurate measurement of lymphedema, these measurements should not be used interchangeably.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Age differences between athletes born in the same year, as well as an over-representation of older players, are known as the Relative Age Effect (RAE). Players born at the beginning of the selection year have a physical and anthropometric advantage over their younger peers. Experts keep looking for new prediction variables for talent identification. OBJECTIVES The aim of the study is to correlate anthropometric, strength and power variables with the relative age (RA) and the level of the teams in which players played in each age category. METHODS All players (N = 366) from an elite soccer academy of a Spanish club volunteered to participate in the study (U23-U10). RESULTS There was a significant correlation between the RA of the players and the level of the team in which they played in each age category but no correlation between trimester of birth and level of the team. We found significant correlations between the players' physical capacities, anthropometry, RA and the level of the team in which they played for the same age category, mainly from U16 to U10. U23 did not show any correlation between RA and physical or anthropometric variables. CONCLUSION Coaches should be cautious of choosing players based only on anthropometric or physical attributes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have improved outcomes in cancer treatment but are also associated with adverse events and financial burdens. Identifying accurate biomarkers is crucial for determining which patients are likely to benefit from ICIs. Current markers, such as PD-L1 expression and tumor mutation burden, exhibit limited predictive accuracy. This study utilizes a Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW) to explore the prognostic significance of novel blood-based factors, such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and red cell distribution width (RDW), to enhance the prediction of ICI therapy benefit. METHODS This retrospective study utilized an exploratory cohort from the CDW that included a variety of cancers to explore factors associated with pembrolizumab treatment duration, validated in a non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patient cohort from electronic medical records (EMR) and CDW. The CDW contained anonymized data on demographics, diagnoses, medications, and tests for cancer patients treated with ICIs between 2017-2022. Logistic regression identified factors predicting ≤2 or ≥5 pembrolizumab doses as proxies for progression-free survival (PFS), and Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis was used to examine their predictive ability. These factors were validated by correlating doses with PFS in the EMR cohort and re-testing their significance in the CDW cohort with other ICIs. This dual approach utilized the CDW for discovery and EMR/CDW cohorts for validating prognostic biomarkers before ICI treatment. RESULTS A total of 609 cases (428 in the exploratory cohort and 181 in the validation cohort) from CDW and 44 cases from EMR were selected for study. CDW analysis revealed that elevated red cell distribution width (RDW) correlated with receiving ≤2 pembrolizumab doses (p = 0.0008), with an AUC of 0.60 for predicting treatment duration. RDW's correlation with PFS (r = 0.80, p<0.0001) and its weak association with RDW (r = -0.30, p = 0.049) were confirmed in the EMR cohort. RDW also remained significant in predicting short treatment duration across various ICIs (p = 0.0081). This dual methodology verified pretreatment RDW elevation as a prognostic biomarker for shortened ICI therapy. CONCLUSION This study suggests the utility of CDWs in identifying prognostic biomarkers for ICI therapy in cancer treatment. Elevated RDW before treatment initiation emerged as a potential biomarker of shorter therapy duration.

Abstract
In large animal studies, the mechanical reintegration of the bone fragments is measured using postmortem physical testing, but these assessments can only be performed once, after sacrifice. Image-based virtual mechanical testing is an attractive alternative because it could be used to monitor healing longitudinally. However, the procedures and software required to perform finite element analysis (FEA) on subject-specific models for virtual mechanical testing can be time consuming and costly. Accordingly, the goal of this study was to determine whether a simpler image-based geometric measure-the torsion constant, sometimes known as polar moment of inertia-can be reliably used as a surrogate measure of bone healing in large animals. To achieve this, postmortem biomechanical testing and microCT scans were analyzed for a total of 33 operated and 20 intact ovine tibiae. An image-processing procedure to compute the attenuation-weighted torsion constant from the microCT scans was developed in MATLAB and this code has been made freely available. Linear regression analysis was performed between the postmortem biomechanical data, the results of virtual mechanical testing using FEA, and the torsion constants measured from the scans. The results showed that virtual mechanical testing is the most reliable surrogate measure of postmortem torsional rigidity, having strong correlations and high absolute agreement. However, when FEA is not practical, the torsion constant is a viable alternative surrogate measure that is moderately correlated with postmortem torsional rigidity and can be readily calculated.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by inflammation and fibrosis in the kidney. Renal biopsies and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) remain the standard of care, but these endpoints have limitations in detecting the stage, progression, and spatial distribution of fibrotic pathology in the kidney. MRI diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has emerged as a promising noninvasive technology to evaluate renal fibrosis in vivo both in clinical and preclinical studies. However, these imaging studies have not systematically identified fibrosis particularly deeper in the kidney where biopsy sampling is limited, or completed an extensive analysis of whole organ histology, blood biomarkers, and gene expression to evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of MRI for evaluating renal fibrosis. In this study, we performed DTI in the sodium oxalate mouse model of CKD. The DTI parameters fractional anisotropy, apparent diffusion coefficient, and axial diffusivity were compared between the control and oxalate groups with region of interest (ROI) analysis to determine changes in the cortex and medulla. In addition, voxel-based analysis (VBA) was implemented to systematically identify local regions of injury over the whole kidney. DTI parameters were found to be significantly different in the medulla by both ROI analysis and VBA, which also spatially matched with collagen III immunohistochemistry (IHC). The DTI parameters in this medullary region exhibited moderate to strong correlations with histology, blood biomarkers, hydroxyproline, and gene expression. Our results thus highlight the sensitivity of DTI to the heterogeneity of renal fibrosis and importance of whole kidney noninvasive imaging.NEW & NOTEWORTHY Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can be characterized by inflammation and fibrosis of the kidney. Abstract
OBJECTIVES Blood pressure (BP) variability (BPV) can be assessed using office (OBP), home (HBP), or ambulatory BP (ABP) measurements. This analysis investigated the association and agreement between OBP, HBP, and ABP measurements for BPV assessment at baseline and 10 weeks after initiating antihypertensive drug therapy. METHODS Untreated hypertensive patients with elevated BPV were randomized to receive an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ramipril) or a calcium channel blocker (nifedipine GITS) in a 10-week, open-label, blinded-end point study. BPV was assessed using standard deviation (SD) and coefficient of variation (CV) (reading-to-reading analyses). RESULTS Data from 146 participants from three research centers (Athens/Greece; Milan/Italy; Shanghai/China) were analyzed [mean age 53 ± 10 (SD) years, male individuals 60%, baseline systolic OBP, HBP, and 24 h ABP 144 ± 9, 138 ± 10, and 143 ± 10 mmHg, respectively]. Post-treatment minus pre-treatment systolic CV difference was: OBP: 0.3%, P = 0.28; HBP: -0.2%, P = 0.20; 24 h ABP: 1.1%, P < 0.001. Home and ambulatory (not office) BPV indices presented weak-to-moderate correlation, both before and during treatment (range of coefficients 0.04-0.33). The correlation coefficient between systolic HBP and awake ABP CV was 0.21 and 0.28 before and during treatment, respectively ( P < 0.05/< 0.001, respectively). Home and ambulatory (not office) BPV indices presented slight-to-fair agreement (range 64-73%) in detecting participants with high systolic BPV (top quartile of respective distributions) both before and during treatment (kappa range 0.04-0.27). CONCLUSION These data showed a weak-to-moderate association between out-of-office (but not office) BPV indices both before and during BP-lowering treatment, with reasonable agreement in detecting individuals with high BPV. Out-of-office BP measurements provide more similar and consistent BPV information than office measurements.

Abstract
Management of obesity requires a multidisciplinary approach including physical activity interventions, which have significant impacts on overall health outcomes. Greater levels of lean muscle mass are significantly associated with improved health and reduced risk of comorbidities and should be preserved where possible when undertaking rapid weight loss. This article reports on the physical and functional outcomes achieved during a 12-week intensive multidisciplinary intervention targeting obesity and evaluates correlations between body composition and functional outcomes. We additionally aimed to investigate the test-retest reliability and levels of agreement in body composition measurements using bioimpedance spectroscopy between seated and standing positions. Of the 35 participants included in analysis, significant differences were observed between baseline and post-intervention measures. These included weight loss of 12.6 kg, waist circumference reduction of 10.5 cm, fat mass reduction by 2.9%, muscle mass increase by 1.6%, 54.5 m improvement in the 6-minute walk test and 3.8 rep improvement in the 30-second sit-to-stand test. No significant correlations were observed between physical and functional outcome measures. Excellent test re-test reliability was observed in bioimpedance spectroscopy seated measurements (ICC >.9). Significant differences were observed between seated and standing bioimpedance spectroscopy measurements, however they are regarded as small differences in a clinical setting.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Facial expressions of pain play an important role in pain diagnostics and social interactions. Given the prominent impact of sex on various aspects of pain, it is not surprising that sex differences have also been explored regarding facial expressions of pain; however, with inconclusive findings. We aim to further investigate sex differences in facial expressions of pain by using a large, combined sample to maximize statistical power. Data from 7 previous studies of our group were merged, combining in total the data of 392 participants (male: 192, female: 200). All participants received phasic heat pain, with intensities being tailored to the individual pain threshold. Pain intensity ratings were assessed, and facial responses were manually analyzed using the Facial Action Coding. To compare facial and subjective responses between sexes, linear mixed-effects models were used, with study ID as a random effect. We found significant sex differences in facial responses, with females showing elevated facial responses to pain, although they received lower physical heat intensities (women had lower pain thresholds). In contrast, pain intensity ratings did not differ between sexes. Additionally, facial and subjective responses to pain were significantly associated across sexes, with females showing slightly stronger associations. Although variations in facial expressions of pain are very large even within each sex, our findings demonstrate that women facially communicate pain more intensively and with a better match to their subjective experience compared with men. This indicates that women might be better in using facial communication of pain in an intensity-discriminative manner.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV (AWH) are at an increased risk of poor cognitive development yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Circulating galectin-9 (Gal-9) has been associated with increased inflammation and multimorbidity in adults with HIV despite antiretroviral therapy (ART); however, the relationship between Gal-9 in AWH and cognition remain unexplored. DESIGN A cross-sectional study of two independent age-matched cohorts from India [AWH on ART ( n = 15), ART-naive ( n = 15), and adolescents without HIV (AWOH; n = 10)] and Myanmar [AWH on ART ( n = 54) and AWOH ( n = 22)] were studied. Adolescents from Myanmar underwent standardized cognitive tests. METHODS Plasma Gal-9 and soluble mediators were measured by immunoassays and cellular immune markers by flow cytometry. We used Mann-Whitney U tests to determine group-wise differences, Spearman's correlation for associations and machine learning to identify a classifier of cognitive status (impaired vs. unimpaired) built from clinical (age, sex, HIV status) and immunological markers. RESULTS Gal-9 levels were elevated in ART-treated AWH compared with AWOH in both cohorts (all P < 0.05). Higher Gal-9 in AWH correlated with increased levels of inflammatory mediators (sCD14, TNFα, MCP-1, IP-10, IL-10) and activated CD8 + T cells (all P < 0.05). Irrespective of HIV status, higher Gal-9 levels correlated with lower cognitive test scores in multiple domains [verbal learning, visuospatial learning, memory, motor skills (all P < 0.05)]. ML classification identified Gal-9, CTLA-4, HVEM, and TIM-3 as significant predictors of cognitive deficits in adolescents [mean area under the curve (AUC) = 0.837]. CONCLUSION Our results highlight a potential role of Gal-9 as a biomarker of inflammation and cognitive health among adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV.

Abstract
Portable and flexible administration of manual dexterity assessments is necessary to monitor recovery from brain injury and the effects of interventions across clinic and home settings, especially when in-person testing is not possible or convenient. This paper aims to assess the concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of a new suite of touchscreen-based manual dexterity tests (called EDNA™MoTap) that are designed for portable and efficient administration. A minimum sample of 49 healthy young adults will be conveniently recruited. The EDNA™MoTap tasks will be assessed for concurrent validity against standardized tools (the Box and Block Test [BBT] and the Purdue Pegboard Test) and for test-retest reliability over a 1- to 2-week interval. Correlation coefficients of r > .6 will indicate acceptable validity, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) values > .75 will indicate acceptable reliability for healthy adults. The sample were primarily right-handed (91%) adults aged 19 and 34 years (M = 24.93, SD = 4.21, 50% female). The MoTap tasks did not demonstrate acceptable validity, with tasks showing weak-to-moderate associations with the criterion assessments. Some outcomes demonstrated acceptable test-retest reliability; however, this was not consistent. Touchscreen-based assessments of dexterity remain relevant; however, there is a need for further development of the EDNA™MoTap task administration.

Abstract
In resource-limited settings where vital registration and medical death certificates are unavailable or incomplete, verbal autopsy (VA) is often used to attribute causes of death (CoD) and prioritize resource allocation and interventions. We aimed to determine the CoD concordance between InterVA and CHAMPS's method. The causes of death (CoDs) of children <5 were determined by two methods using data from seven low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) enrolled in the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) network. The first CoD method was from the DeCoDe panel using data from Minimally Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS), whereas the second method used Verbal Autopsy (VA), which utilizes the InterVA software. This analysis evaluated the agreement between the two using Lin's concordance correlation coefficient. The overall concordance of InterVA4 and DeCoDe in assigning causes of death across surveillance sites, age groups, and causes of death was poor (0.75 with 95% CI: 0.73-0.76) and lacked precision. We found substantial differences in agreement by surveillance site, with Mali showing the lowest and Mozambique and Ethiopia the highest concordance. The InterVA4 assigned CoD agrees poorly in assigning causes of death for U5s and stillbirths. Because VA methods are relatively easy to implement, such systems could be more useful if algorithms were improved to more accurately reflect causes of death, for example, by calibrating algorithms to information from programs that used detailed diagnostic testing to improve the accuracy of COD determination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lung transplantation (LT) represents a high-risk procedure for end-stage lung diseases. This study describes the outcomes of patients undergoing LT that require massive transfusions as defined by the universal definition of perioperative bleeding (UDPB). METHODS Adult patients who underwent bilateral LT at a single academic center were surveyed retrospectively. Patients were grouped by insignificant, mild, or moderate perioperative bleeding (insignificant-to-moderate bleeders) and severe or massive perioperative bleeding (severe-to-massive bleeders) based on the UDPB classification. Outcomes included 1-year survival and primary graft dysfunction (PGD) of grade 3 at 72 h postoperatively. Multivariable models were adjusted for recipient age, sex, body mass index (BMI), Lung allocation score (LAS), preoperative hemoglobin (Hb), preoperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) status, transplant number, and donor status. An additional multivariable model was created to find preoperative and intraoperative predictors of severe-to-massive bleeding. A p-value less than 0.05 was selected for significance. RESULTS A total of 528 patients were included, with 357 insignificant-to-moderate bleeders and 171 severe-to-massive bleeders. Postoperatively, severe-to-massive bleeders had higher rates of PGD grade 3 at 72 h, longer hospital stays, higher mortality rates at 30 days and one year, and were less likely to achieve textbook outcomes for LT. They also required postoperative ECMO, reintubation for over 48 h, tracheostomy, reintervention, and dialysis at higher rates. In the multivariate analysis, severe-to-massive bleeding was significantly associated with adverse outcomes after adjusting for recipient and donor factors, with an odds ratio of 7.73 (95% CI: 4.27-14.4, p < 0.001) for PGD3 at 72 h, 4.30 (95% CI: 2.30-8.12, p < 0.001) for 1-year mortality, and 1.75 (95% CI: 1.52-2.01, p < 0.001) for longer hospital stays. Additionally, severe-to-massive bleeders were less likely to achieve textbook outcomes, with an odds ratio of 0.07 (95% CI: 0.02-0.16, p < 0.001). Preoperative and intraoperative predictors of severe/massive bleeding were identified, with White patients having lower odds compared to Black patients (OR: 041, 95% CI: 0.22-0.80, p = 0.008). Each 1-unit increase in BMI decreased the odds of bleeding (OR: 0.89, 95% CI: 0.83-0.95, p < 0.001), while each 1-unit increase in MPAP increased the odds of bleeding (OR: 1.04, 95% CI: 1.02-1.06, p < 0.001). First-time transplant recipients had lower risk (OR: 0.16, 95% CI: 0.06-0.36, p < 0.001), whereas those with DCD donors had a higher risk of severe-to-massive bleeding (OR: 3.09, 95% CI: 1.63-5.87, p = 0.001). CONCLUSION These results suggest that patients at high risk of massive bleeding require higher utilization of hospital resources. Understanding their outcomes is important, as it may inform future decisions to transplant comparable patients.

Abstract
Our understanding of the normal variation in the upper respiratory tract (URT) microbiota across the human lifespan and how these relate to host, environment, and health is limited. We studied the microbiota of 3,104 saliva (<10 year-olds)/oropharynx (≥10 year-olds) and 2,485 nasopharynx samples of 3,160 Dutch individuals 0-87 years of age, participating in a cross-sectional population-wide study (PIENTER-3) using 16S-rRNA sequencing. The microbiota composition was strongly related to age, especially in the nasopharynx, with maturation occurring throughout childhood and adolescence. Clear niche- and age-specific associations were found between the microbiota composition and host/environmental factors and health outcomes. Among others, social interaction, sex, and season were associated with the nasopharyngeal microbial community. By contrast, the oral microbiota was more related to antibiotics, tobacco, and alcohol use. We present an atlas of the URT microbiota across the lifespan in association with environment and health, establishing a baseline for future research.

Abstract
This study explores disparities and opportunities in healthcare information provided by AI chatbots. We focused on recommendations for adjuvant therapy in endometrial cancer, analyzing responses across four regions (Indonesia, Nigeria, Taiwan, USA) and three platforms (Bard, Bing, ChatGPT-3.5). Utilizing previously published cases, we asked identical questions to chatbots from each location within a 24-h window. Responses were evaluated in a double-blinded manner on relevance, clarity, depth, focus, and coherence by ten experts in endometrial cancer. Our analysis revealed significant variations across different countries/regions (p < 0.001). Interestingly, Bing's responses in Nigeria consistently outperformed others (p < 0.05), excelling in all evaluation criteria (p < 0.001). Bard also performed better in Nigeria compared to other regions (p < 0.05), consistently surpassing them across all categories (p < 0.001, with relevance reaching p < 0.01). Notably, Bard's overall scores were significantly higher than those of ChatGPT-3.5 and Bing in all locations (p < 0.001). These findings highlight disparities and opportunities in the quality of AI-powered healthcare information based on user location and platform. This emphasizes the necessity for more research and development to guarantee equal access to trustworthy medical information through AI technologies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between coping mechanisms in people with multiple sclerosis (MS, pwMS) and cognitive, physical, and psychosocial factors such as socio-demographic characteristics, disability, personality, stigma, quality of life, depression, and anxiety. METHOD One hundred and two pwMS were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Demographics and clinical characteristics were recorded. Coping with the MS Scale (CMSS), including seven subscales, which are problem-solving, physical assistance, acceptance, avoidance, personal health control, energy conservation, and emotional release, was used to measure coping. Anxiety and depression levels, stigma, neuropsychological symptoms, and personality were measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD), EuroQol-5D Quality of Life Scale (EQ-5D), Quality of Life in Neurological Diseases (NeuroQoL) -Stigma Scale, Multiple Sclerosis Neuropsychological Questionnaire (MSNQ), and Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Abbreviated Form (EKA-GGK), respectively. RESULTS There was a weak statistically significant positive correlation between the physical support subscale and age and the disease duration and a strong positive correlation with EDSS (r = .214, p = .035; r = .213, p = .036; r = .582, p ≤ .0001, respectively). There was a moderate negative relationship between the physical support subscale and the EQ-5D mobility, self-care, pain, and health subscales (r = -.434, p = .000; r = -.482, p = .000; r = -.526, p ≤ .001, respectively), a weak negative correlation with anxiety, and a strong negative relationship with usual activities (r = -.379, p ≤ .001; r = -.243, p = .017; r = -.384, p ≤ .001, respectively). CONCLUSION It has been shown that coping with MS can be affected by cognitive, physical, and psychosocial factors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE How women perceive menopause depends on how well they go through that period of time. However, there is no measure that can be used to assess how women perceive menopause. Therefore, we developed a valid and reliable scale (Menopause Perception Scale [MPS]) to assess how women perceive menopause. METHODS This methodological research was conducted in three stages. First, we developed items and assessed their content validity. Second, we collected data from 470 women. Third, we assessed the scale for validity and reliability. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used for construct validity. Cronbach's α was calculated for reliability. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for criterion validity. Mean comparison tests were performed for known-groups validity. RESULTS The MPS had a content validity index of 0.90. It had a Kaiser-Meier-Olkin score of 0.768, for which Bartlett's test of sphericity was significant (1,778.047; P < 0.001). The values were acceptable. The exploratory factor analysis yielded an 18-item structure with factor loads greater than 0.40. It also revealed a four-factor model (acceptance, perceived sexuality, normalization, and perceived support) confirmed by the confirmatory factor analysis. The fit indexes were acceptable. The model explained 56.64% of the total variance. The internal consistency was acceptable (Cronbach's α = 0.824). There were positive correlations between the scale and its subscales. Furthermore, the MPS was significantly correlated with the Menopause Attitude Assessment Scale (r = 0.334, P < 0.001) and the Menopause Rating Scale (r = -0.286, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The MPS is a valid, reliable, user-friendly, and practical self-report measure with satisfactory psychometric properties. Researchers should conduct cross-cultural studies to adapt it to other cultures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To examine long-term retinal nerve fibre layer thickness (RNFLT) variability and associated clinical factors in African (AD) and European descent (ED) individuals with glaucoma. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included glaucoma eyes of AD and ED from Diagnostic Innovations in Glaucoma Study/The African Descent and Glaucoma Evaluation Study with ≥4 visits/2 years of follow-up. We calculated optic nerve head RNFLT variability per-examination/visit as the absolute error of its residuals across follow-up. Full, baseline and parsimonious linear-mixed models were fit to evaluate the effects of clinical factors (demographics and ocular characteristics, prior/intervening glaucoma surgeries and cataract extraction (CE), RNFLT thinning rate, scan quality, visit/testing frequency, etc) on RNFLT variability in both races. RESULTS There were 376 and 625 eyes (226 and 349 participants) of AD and ED, and the mean (95% CI) RNFLT variability was 1.62 (1.52, 1.71) µm and 1.42 (1.34, 1.50) µm, respectively (p=0.002). AD and ED had some shared predictors of RNFLT variability, including intraocular pressure fluctuation and scan quality, although the effects varied (p<0.05). In both races, intervening CE was most strongly correlated with higher RNFLT variability (β: 0.24-0.92, p<0.05). After excluding eyes with intervening CE, RNFLT variability was reduced and the small racial difference was no longer significant (AD: 1.40 (1.31, 1.48) µm vs ED: 1.34 (1.27, 1.40) µm; p=0.280). CONCLUSIONS Although some predictors were identified, long-term RNFLT variability appeared small for both AD and ED eyes. Moreover, the racial difference did not remain once intervening CE, the strongest predictor of variability, was eliminated. Our findings inform on strategies to optimise structural assessment and suggest that, when accounting for relevant factors, RNFLT is reliable across races.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Perceived occupational value is closely linked with well-being and there is need worldwide for assessment tools that target this phenomenon. The Occupational Value with pre-defined items (OVal-pd), measuring three dimensions of occupational value; concrete, socio-symbolic and self-rewarding, was designed for that purpose. AIM To pilot an Arabic version of OVal-pd and evaluate its psychometric properties in terms of content validity, factor structure, homogeneity, construct validity, test-retest stability, floor and ceiling effects, and measurement error. METHODS Snowball sampling was used to recruit Arabic-speaking persons living in Sweden (n = 55). They completed the OVal-pd and questionnaires addressing background factors, content validity and feasibility. Confirmatory factor analysis, Spearman's rank correlation, Cronbach's α, intraclass correlation coefficients, and minimum detectable change were calculated. RESULTS A 22-item version of the Arabic OVal-pd was found to have acceptable content validity and feasibility and the proposed three occupational value dimensions were confirmed. Good properties in terms of construct validity, internal consistency and test-retest stability were also established. No floor or ceiling effects were observed. CONCLUSION The Arabic OVal-pd showed good validity and reliability on various psychometric aspects. SIGNIFICANCE In today's multicultural societies, the Arabic OVal-pd can be an important tool for occupational therapists working with Arabic-speaking clients.

Abstract
AIM This study was designed to examine the relationship between humble leadership and nurses' turnover intention and investigate the moderating role of leader expertise in this relationship. BACKGROUND Leader humility and expertise are two key dimensions of professional spirit in competitive magnet organizations. Many organizational factors could make nurses take a decision to leave their organization; however, leader humility and expertise could help nurses retract from this decision. METHOD This is a multisite cross-sectional study that was conducted at all medical-surgical units of four university hospitals. Using scales for assessing leader humility, nurses' turnover intention, and leader expertise, 385 nurses were surveyed. Data were investigated via descriptive and inferential statistics, where correlation, path analysis, and structured equation modeling were used to test the hypothetical relationship among study variables. RESULTS There is a statistically significant negative relationship between humble leadership and nurses' turnover intention. Humble leadership and leader expertise were significant predictors of nurses' turnover intention. The moderating effect of leader expertise on the relationship between humble leadership and nurses' turnover intention was statistically significant, making it more negative, implying that leader expertise amplifies the effect of leader humility on reducing nurses' turnover. CONCLUSION Incorporating leader expertise with humility could provide an efficient panacea for reducing turnover intentions among nurses in different healthcare organizations. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING AND HEALTH POLICY Healthcare organizations could develop an efficient retention plan for nurses by cultivating humility among both leaders and nurses. In addition, building nurse leaders' expertise through opening avenues for professional development is a good strategy in the face of nurses' shortage and high turnover. Furthermore, succession planning in healthcare organizations must consider humility as a vital skill among anticipated leaders.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pain is a distressing problem which commonly occurs among critically ill patients. Nurses' knowledge of, attitudes, and perceived barriers to pain assessment and management can influence the effectiveness of nursing care. OBJECTIVE To explore the current knowledge of, attitudes, and perceived barriers to pain assessment and management among Thai critical care unit nurses. METHODS A cross-sectional survey conducted between November 2022 and January 2023 among 158 Thai nurses working in one of eight adult critical care units in a tertiary hospital, evaluated their knowledge of, attitudes, and perceived barriers to pain assessment and management. RESULTS Nurses possessed inadequate knowledge and negative attitudes regarding pain assessment and management. The most important barrier to pain assessment and management was "patients are unable to communicate their pain". The results showed a significantly weak positive correlation between nurses' attitudes toward pain assessment and management age (r = 0.26, p = 0.001), year of ICU experience (r = 0.29, p < 0.001), and obtaining a certificate in intensive care nursing (r = 0.37, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Thai critical care unit nurses possessed inadequate knowledge and negative attitudes. Further training and education regarding pain assessment and management could include case studies or simulation and immersive virtual reality to improve critical care unit nurses' knowledge and attitudes as well as identifying potential barriers to pain assessment and management in the critical care settings. IMPLICATIONS FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE The implications for clinical practice recommend that continued quality assurance procedures should be implemented and maintained to evaluate the effectiveness of current pain assessment practices. Additionally, the perceived barriers to effective pain assessment and management should be considered and managed not only through continued education and training but could include using nursing case review, morbidity and mortality data identifying those patients that experience chronic pain post-ICU discharge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This systematic review aimed to discern the relationships between muscle morphology, architecture, and quality with sprint cycling performance while considering the multifaceted nature of these relationships across diverse studies. METHODS Employing the PRISMA guidelines, an exhaustive search was performed across four primary databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL Complete, and SPORTDiscus. The Methodological Index For Non-Randomised Studies (MINORS) was used to assess the methodological quality of the included studies. Out of 3971 initially identified records, only 10 studies met the eligibility criteria. RESULTS These investigations underscored the robust relationship of quadriceps muscle volume with peak power output (R2 from 0.65 to 0.82), suggesting its pivotal role in force production. In muscle architecture, the pennation angle and fascicle length showed varied associations with performance. Furthermore, muscle quality, as denoted by echo intensity, showed preliminary evidence of a potential inverse relationship with performance. The methodological quality assessment revealed varied scores, with the most consistent reporting on the aim, endpoints, and inclusion of consecutive patients. However, limitations were observed in the prospective calculation of study size and unbiased assessment of study endpoints. CONCLUSION Our findings indicate that muscle volume is a major determinant of sprint cycling performance. Muscle architecture and quality also impact performance, although in a more intricate way. The review calls for standardised methodologies in future research for a more comprehensive understanding and comparability of results. However, studies have yet to be conducted in Indonesia. This study aims to obtain a valid and reliable instrument to measure the quality of complete dentures (CDs). This study also aims to find out whether the functional quality of a CD measured with the Indonesian version of the FAD Instrument (PFGT) can affect patient satisfaction in receiving CD treatment (measured with Indonesian version of Patient's Denture Assessment [PDA-Id]) and to find contributing factors to the functional quality of a CD. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study was conducted in two stages. The first stage was a qualitative study using cross-cultural adaptation methods and focus group discussions with experts. The second stage was a quantitative test with a total of 40 subjects for statistical analysis in the form of a kappa test, test-retest, Kuder-Richardson (KR) 20, and a correlation test between PDA-Id and PFG. Multivariate analysis was done to analyze contributing factors to the functional quality of CD. RESULTS The final instrument was obtained from the qualitative test, which was tested for content and face validation. The interrater kappa test result of 0.828 shows an almost perfect agreement. The results of the intrarater test-retest (0.564; p > 0.05; intraclass correlation coefficient 0.889) showed excellent instrument stability. The results of the internal consistency test with Kuder-Richardson 20 (1.08; KR > 1) showed good internal consistency. The correlation test results between PFGT and PDA-Id (0.044; p < 0.05) showed a positive correlation. Multivariate analysis showed a relationship between the quality of the CD, the length of time the CD was used, and the patient's satisfaction with CD treatment. CONCLUSION The PFGT instrument is considered a valid and reliable tool to measure the functional quality of a denture that can distinguish between good and bad quality.

Abstract
Feline injection-site sarcomas (FISSs) are aggressive neoplasms that have been associated mostly with vaccination. Feline noninjection-site sarcomas (non-FISSs) are less frequently observed in cats and may arise in any anatomic site. This study aimed to determine the differences in the expression of the selected proteins (matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and P-glycoprotein (PGP)) and their correlation with the mitotic count in FISS and non-FISS, in order to characterize their immunohistochemical features. A preliminary study of eleven samples of FISS and eight samples of non-FISS was performed using immunohistochemistry. Among all the tested sarcomas, 80.4% of the tumors were positive for COX-2, 90.2% were positive for MMP-9, and 100% were positive for PGP. The results showed that the expressions of COX-2, MMP-9, and PGP were significantly higher in FISS than in non-FISS (COX-2-p ≤ 0.001; MMP-9-p ≤ 0.05; and PGP-p ≤ 0.05). A Spearman rank correlation analysis showed a moderate negative correlation between the expression of COX-2 and MMP-9 in FISS (r = -0.52). A strong negative correlation between COX-2 and PGP (r = -0.81), a moderate positive correlation between MMP-2 and MMP-9 (r = +0.69), and a moderate negative correlation between MMP-2 and PGP (r = -0.44) were observed in non-FISS. In summary, our study presents the immunohistochemical profile of the proteins involved with inflammation and carcinogenesis in FISS and non-FISS, which can contribute to expanding the knowledge of tumor biology.

Abstract
Lead (Pb) poisoning is estimated to account for 1 % of the global disease burden. The gold standard for diagnosing lead poisoning in human body relies on blood lead level (BLL), which is always performed in hospitals using expensive instruments. However, there are still many countries and regions with a lack of medical resources (without enough professional medical staff and analytical instruments). To achieve a facile diagnosis of lead poisoning by ordinary residents (without any expertise), this study conducted a research study on 810 participants to discover and validate a new lead poisoning indicator (creatinine-corrected urinary lead level, cULL) beyond BLL in non-invasive samples. A point-of-care testing (POCT) device to measure cULL was developed, equipped with liquid-phase microextraction and electromembrane extraction on a paper-based analytical device for on-site separation of lead and creatinine in the urine, using a smartphone for the quantification of analytes. The cULL as a novel indicator and the POCT device developed could be effective in reducing the risk of damage from lead contamination.

Abstract
Candida auris is a multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen with a propensity to colonize humans and persist on environmental surfaces. C. auris invasive fungal disease is being increasingly identified in acute and long-term care settings. We have developed a prototype cartridge-based C. auris surveillance assay (CaurisSurV cartridge; "research use only") that includes integrated sample processing and nucleic acid amplification to detect C. auris from surveillance skin swabs in the GeneXpert instrument and is designed for point-of-care use. The assay limit of detection (LoD) in the skin swab matrix was 10.5 and 14.8 CFU/mL for non-aggregative (AR0388) and aggregative (AR0382) strains of C. auris, respectively. All five known clades of C. auris were detected at 2-3-5× (31.5-52.5 CFU/mL) the LoD. The assay was validated using a total of 85 clinical swab samples banked at two different institutions (University of California Los Angeles, CA and Wadsworth Center, NY). Compared to culture, sensitivity was 96.8% (30/31) and 100% (10/10) in the UCLA and Wadsworth cohorts, respectively, providing a combined sensitivity of 97.5% (40/41), and compared to PCR, the combined sensitivity was 92% (46/50). Specificity was 100% with both clinical (C. auris negative matrix, N = 31) and analytical (non-C. auris strains, N = 32) samples. An additional blinded study with N = 60 samples from Wadsworth Center, NY yielded 97% (29/30) sensitivity and 100% (28/28) specificity. We have developed a completely integrated, sensitive, specific, and 58-min prototype test, which can be used for routine surveillance of C. auris and might help prevent colonization and outbreaks in acute and chronic healthcare settings. IMPORTANCE This study has the potential to offer a better solution to healthcare providers at hospitals and long-term care facilities in their ongoing efforts for effective and timely control of Candida auris infection and hence quicker response for any potential future outbreaks.

Abstract
Although presepsin, a crucial biomarker for the diagnosis and management of sepsis, has gained prominence in contemporary medical research, its relationship with routine laboratory parameters, including demographic data and hospital blood test data, remains underexplored. This study integrates machine learning with explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) to provide insights into the relationship between presepsin and these parameters. Advanced machine learning classifiers provide a multilateral view of data and play an important role in highlighting the interrelationships between presepsin and other parameters. XAI enhances analysis by ensuring transparency in the model's decisions, especially in selecting key parameters that significantly enhance classification accuracy. Utilizing XAI, this study successfully identified critical parameters that increased the predictive accuracy for sepsis patients, achieving a remarkable ROC AUC of 0.97 and an accuracy of 0.94. This breakthrough is possibly attributed to the comprehensive utilization of XAI in refining parameter selection, thus leading to these significant predictive metrics. The presence of missing data in datasets is another concern; this study addresses it by employing Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) to manage missing data, effectively mitigating potential biases while preserving both the accuracy and relevance of the results. The perspective of examining data from higher dimensions using machine learning transcends traditional observation and analysis. The findings of this study hold the potential to enhance patient diagnoses and treatment, underscoring the value of merging traditional research methods with advanced analytical tools.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To assess the validity and reliability of the Migraine-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire 2.1 (MSQv.2.1) in a group of Greek migraineurs. DESIGN-SAMPLE-METHODS The Greek version of MSQv.2.1 (MSQv.2.1-GR), a self-report measure with 14 items in 3 domains (Role Restrictive (RR), Role Preventive (RP) and Emotional Function (EF)), was administered during a cross-sectional study to 141 Greek adult migraineurs and 135 controls without migraine or any other primary headache disorder, along with Migraine Disability Assessment Scale (MIDAS) and Short Form Health Survey (SF-12) to assess validity. MSQv.2.1-GR was re-administered in a group of participants with migraine two weeks afterwards to assess reliability. Content and construct validity was assessed using Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), Spearman rho, McDonald's omega, Cronbach's alpha. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the latent structure of the MSQv.2.1-GR in migraineurs. RESULTS A total of 276 adults participated in the study. Internal consistency of the three MSQv.2.1-GR scales RR, RP and EF yielded a range of McDonald's omega from 0.832 to 0.923 (Cronbach's alpha from 0.814 to 0.923). CFA confirmed the proposed three-factor MSQv.2.1-GR latent structure with acceptable goodness of fit indices and factor loadings. Correlations were established between MSQv2.1-GR component and MIDAS scores, showing moderate and statistically significant relationships (from - 0.519 to -0.562, all p < 0.001) for RR, RP and EF. Correlations between MSQv2.1-GR and SF-12 component scores were identified, with values from 0.1 to 0.4, indicating low to moderate associations. ICC was calculated at 0.997, indicating a high level of reliability between the measures. Notably, all MSQv2.1-GR scores (RR, RP, EF) were significantly higher in the controls compared to migraineurs (p < 0.001 for all scales). These findings suggest that MSQv2.1-GR is internally consistent, shows significant correlations with relevant measures, and is effective in discriminating controls from migraineurs. CONCLUSION MSQv2.1-GR is a valid and reliable tool to determine the effect migraine has on the quality of life of Greek-speaking migraineurs.

Abstract
Flow-cytometric immune phenotyping is influenced by cryopreservation and inter-laboratory variability limiting comparability in multicenter studies. We assessed a system of optimized, pre-mixed dry-antibody panel tubes requiring small amounts of whole blood for validity, reliability and challenges in a Canadian multicenter study (POSITIVE) with long-distance sample shipping, using standardized protocols. Thirty-seven children awaiting solid-organ transplant were enrolled for parallel immune-phenotyping with both validated, optimized in-house panels and the dry-antibody system. Samples were collected before, 3 and 12 months post-transplant. Quality-assurance measures and congruence of phenotypes were compared using Bland-Altman comparisons, linear regression and group comparisons. Samples showed excellent lymphocyte viability (mean 94.8 %) and recovery when processed within 30 h. Comparing staining methods, significant correlations (Spearman correlation coefficient >0.6, p < 0.05), mean difference <5 % and variation 2SD <25 % were found for natural-killer, T and B cells, including many immunologically important cell subsets (CD8+, naïve, memory CD4+ T; switched-memory, transitional B). Some subgroups (plasmablasts, CD1d+CD5hi B cells) showed weak correlations, limiting interpretation reliability. The dry-antibody system provides a reliable method for standardized analysis of many immune phenotypes after long-distance shipping when processed within 30 h, rendering the system attractive for pediatric studies due to small blood amounts required and highly standardized processing and analysis.

Abstract
Dissolved organic matter (DOM) in actual industrial wastewater comprises various compounds that trigger toxicity in aquatic organisms; thus, advanced treatment for reducing DOM toxicity is urgently needed to ensure safe effluent discharge. Herein, we successfully reduced the toxicity of DOM in actual industrial wastewater without external chemical addition by applying intermittent polarization to electrochemical bioreactors. The bioreactor operated under intermittent polarization effectively reduced the toxicity of DOM by 76.7 %, resulting in the toxicity of effluent DOM (determined by malformation rate of zebrafish larvae) reaching less than 3.5 %. Notably, DOM compounds with high double-bond equivalence (DBE ≥ 8) were identified as the key components responsible for the toxicity of DOM through ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry analysis. Insight into microbe-DOM interactions revealed that intermittent polarization promoted the microbial consumption of high-DBE components of DOM by both affecting microbial composition (β = -0.5421, p < 0.01) and function (β = -0.4831, p < 0.01), thus regulating effluent DOM toxicity. The study findings demonstrate that intermittent polarization is a promising strategy for microbial electricity-driven reduction of DOM toxicity in actual industrial wastewater to meet the increasing safety requirements of receiving waters.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study examined college students' food security status, Choose MyPlate familiarity, and confidence in preparing healthy meals using food pantry ingredients. METHODS A sample of 354 student users of a college food pantry in the US southeastern region were surveyed before using the food pantry for the first time. RESULTS Of the respondents, 81.3% were food insecure, and 47% of the overall sample experienced very low food security. About one-third (37.3%) recognized MyPlate; of those, 89.4% stated intention to use MyPlate knowledge making pantry selections. Students familiar with MyPlate (P = 0.003) and intending to use MyPlate when making food selections (P = 0.02) exhibited greater confidence. Differences were not observed on the basis of food security status. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS These findings suggest that familiarity with simple nutritional guidelines such as MyPlate may improve students' intended food pantry selections and healthy meal selection confidence.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Disability in ambulation has a critical impact on activities of daily living in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). The 12-item Multiple Sclerosis Walking Scale (MSWS-12) is a self-reported instrument developed to assess the impact of MS on walking. The scale's 12 items assess various aspects of walking-related tasks during the past 2 weeks. MSWS-12 has been used in multiple clinical studies and translated into several languages. In the present study, we translated the MSWS-12 into Japanese and evaluated its psychometric properties in a cross-sectional study. METHODS The original English MSWS-12 version 2 (v2) was translated into Japanese through a standard procedure. Sixty consecutive Japanese MS patients completed the newly prepared Japanese MSWS-12v2 questionnaire and repeated the test 14 days later. Physical disability was assessed by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), Timed 25-foot Walk (T25FW), and 9-hole Peg Test (9HPT). Cognitive performance was evaluated using the Processing Speed Test (PST). Fatigue and health-related quality of life were assessed using the Japanese versions of the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) and the Functional Assessment of MS (FAMS). RESULTS The mean age of the patients was 42.5 years, with median disease duration of 10 years, and median EDSS of 2.0 (range 0, 6.5). Forty-seven patients (78.3 %) had relapsing-remitting, 9 (15.0 %) had secondary-progressive, and 4 (6.7 %) had primary-progressive phenotypes. The median score of the MSWS-12v2 was 5.95 (interquartile range 0, 50.6). Twenty-seven patients (45 %) scored the lowest possible score (0 points), while one (1.7 %) scored the highest possible score (100 points). Cronbach's alpha was 0.98 (95 % confidence interval [CI] 0.97, 0.98), and the test-retest intraclass correlation was 0.95 (95%CI 0.94, 0.96). MSWS-12v2 score was strongly correlated with EDSS (Spearman's ρ = 0.73 [95%CI 0.58, 0.83]), T25FW (ρ = 0.70 [95%CI 0.55, 0.81]), and total FAMS score (ρ = -0.80 [95%CI -0.88, -0.69]), and moderately correlated with 9HPT (ρ = 0.65 [95%CI 0.47, 0.77] for the dominant hand; ρ = 0.62 [95%CI 0.43, 0.75] for the non-dominant hand), PST (ρ = -0.65 [95%CI -0.78, -0.47]), and FSS (ρ = 0.68 [95%CI 0.52, 0.80]). Among the subcomponents of FAMS, the mobility subcomponent showed the most robust correlation with MSWS-12v2 score (ρ = -0.91 [95%CI -0.94, -0.81]). In patients with minimal or no objective disability (EDSS < 3.0, n = 40), only the mobility subcomponent of FAMS was strongly correlated with MSWS-12v2 score (ρ = -0.76 [95% CI -0.87, -0.58]). In contrast, correlations of MSWS-12v2 score with EDSS and T25FW were weak in this subgroup (ρ = 0.28 [95%CI -0.03, 0.55] for EDSS; ρ = 0.25 [95%CI -0.06, 0.52] for T25FW). Response patterns for the single items showed that 32.5 % of the patients with EDSS below 3.0 reported having problems with balance, followed by climbing stairs and standing while doing things (both 25 %). CONCLUSION The Japanese version of the MSWS-12v2 developed in this study is reliable, valid, and helpful for screening walking disability in Japanese MS patients, including those with minimal objective disability.

Abstract
Monitoring of changes in skeletal muscle oxygenation during exercise has increased in recent years. Tissue oxygenation, which is related to fatigue and muscle hypertrophy, is often measured using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine the test-retest reliability of a non-portable NIRS (NIRO200Nx) during the full-squat exercise and recovery in young healthy men. DESIGN Twenty-five male participants (21.8 ± 2.6 years) were recruited for this original research. Each participant completed an 8-repetition test with a load that elicited a velocity of 1 m·s-1. The test was conducted twice, with a 48-hour washout period between sessions. METHODS The NIRS measured the changes of oxygenated-Hemoglobin (O2Hb), deoxygenated-Hemoglobin (HHb) and Tissue Oxygenation Index (TOI) in both Vastus Lateralis and Vastus Medialis during rest, exercise, and recovery. Coefficient of Variation (CV), Standard Error Measurement (SEM) and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) were used to evaluate the reliability of the data. Significance was set at p < 0.05. RESULTS The results indicated that TOI had good to acceptable absolute reliability (CVTOI = 2.7-10.2 %). A good relative relativity for the overall test was found for Vastus Medialis O2Hb (ICC = 0.851), HHb (ICC = 0.852), and TOI (ICC = 0.864), and Vastus Lateralis O2Hb (ICC = 0.898), HHb (ICC = 0.899), and TOI (ICC = 0.897). CONCLUSIONS We conclude that NIRO200Nx is a reliable instrument for measuring muscle oxygen saturation through the TOI parameter in not-to-failure dynamic resistance exercises (1 set of 8 reps against ∼40 % 1 repetition maximum). Tissue oxygenation assessment could be a new way of individualizing exercise through dynamic resistance exercises.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate whether early age of first exposure to contact sports (AFE-CS) is associated with worse long-term brain health outcomes. DESIGN A cross-sectional, survey study of older men with a history of contact sport participation was completed. SETTING Tertiary care facility. PARTICIPANTS A cohort of community-dwelling older men dichotomized by using AFE-CS (<12 years vs ≥12 years). INTERVENTIONS Independent variables included a dichotomized group of AFE-CS (<12 years vs ≥12 years). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Brain health outcomes measured by depression, anxiety, cognitive difficulties, and neurobehavioral symptoms. Endorsements of general health problems, motor symptoms, and psychiatric history were also collected. Age of first exposure groups was compared using t tests, χ2 tests, and multivariable linear regressions, which included the following covariates: age, number of prior concussions, and total years of contact sport. RESULTS Of 69 men aged 70.5 ± 8.0 years, approximately one-third of the sample (34.8%) reported AFE-CS before age 12 years. That group had more years of contact sports (10.8 ± 9.2 years) compared with those with AFE-CS ≥12 (5.6 ± 4.5 years; P = 0.02). No differences were found after univariate testing between AFE-CS groups on all outcomes (P-values >0.05). Multivariable models suggest that AFE-CS is not a predictor of depression or anxiety. Those in the AFE-CS <12 group had fewer cognitive difficulties (P = 0.03) and fewer neurobehavioral symptoms (P = 0.03). CONCLUSIONS Those with AFE-CS <12 to contact sports did not have worse long-term brain health outcomes compared with those with AFE-CS ≥12. Individuals with AFE-CS <12 had significantly lower British Columbia Cognitive Complaints Inventory and Neurobehavioral Symptom Inventory scores compared with those with AFE-CS ≥12. CLINICAL RELEVANCE The benefits of earlier AFE-CS may outweigh the risks of head strikes and result in comparable long-term brain health outcomes.

Abstract
The demand for Industrial Engineers across the globe is significantly increasing and professional certifications give advantage in the job marketplace. The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) - Industrial Engineering Certification Board facilitates the conferment of the Certified Industrial Engineer (CIE) in the Philippines. The goal of this study was to determine the factors affecting the intention IEs in the Philippines to take the CIE examination using an integration of the Perceived Value Theory and the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior. The research data were collected through an online distributed survey questionnaire to 690 graduating students and graduates from private and public universities across the Philippines. Employing a variance-based partial least squares structural equation modeling, the different significant variables and factors were assessed holistically. It was seen that attitude, perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, and understanding of the CIE examination have significant positive effects to intent to take the CIE examination and becoming a CIE. The perceived benefits and positive emotions brought by becoming a CIE significantly affects the attitude and behavior. This study also confirmed that the higher the perceived return on investment, the more the IEs will take the CIE examination. Moreover, demographic characteristics were identified to correlate and are significant among different variables. As a reflection, the findings and the integrated framework can be utilized in future studies related to development, career pathing, lifelong learning, and other related professional education.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Real-world data regarding patient characteristics, adjuvant treatment patterns, and long-term survival outcomes are needed to better understand unmet needs among patients with completely resected early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS Electronic medical records from the U.S.-based ConcertAI Patient360™ database were analyzed in patients with stage IB-IIIA NSCLC who underwent complete resection prior to March 1, 2016. Patients were followed until death or July 1, 2021. This study evaluated adjuvant chemotherapy use, and overall survival (OS) and real-world disease-free survival (rwDFS) outcomes using the Kaplan-Meier method. The correlation between OS and rwDFS was assessed using the Kendall rank test. Among patients who did not recur 5 years following surgery, landmark analyses of OS and rwDFS were conducted to understand the subsequent survival impact of remaining disease-free for at least 5 years. RESULTS Data from 441 patients with completely resected stage IB-IIIA NSCLC were included. About 35% of patients received adjuvant chemotherapy post-resection. Median OS and rwDFS from resection were 83.1 months and 42.4 months, respectively. The 5-year OS and rwDFS rates were 65.7% and 42.1%, respectively. OS and rwDFS were positively correlated (Kendall rank correlation coefficient = 0.67; p < 0.0001). Among patients without recurrence within 5 years after resection, the subsequent 5-year OS and rwDFS survival rates were 52.9% and 36.6%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Use of adjuvant chemotherapy was low, and the overall 5-year OS rate remained low despite all patients having undergone complete resection. Patients who remained non-recurrent over time had favorable subsequent long-term survival.

Abstract
The Communicative Effectiveness Index (CETI) is an informant rating scale designed to measure changes in functional communication in people with aphasia (PWA) from the carer's perspective. It offers a comprehensive view of aphasia's impact on everyday communication situations, aiding clinicians in designing personalized intervention plans. The aim of this study was to translate and adapt the CETI into Greek (CETI-GR) and validate its psychometric properties. The CETI-GR was translated into Greek using back-translation. A pilot and a content validity study ensured its acceptability. The study involved 30 people with aphasia and 30 carers. The CETI-GR's psychometric properties were evaluated, including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, inter-rater reliability, and validity measures. The CETI-GR demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α > 0.95) and excellent inter-rater reliability (ICC ≥ 0.93). Excellent consistency was revealed when testing the CETI responses given only by PWA (α = 0.91) versus their carers (α = 0.97). Test-retest reliability was high (ICC = 0.88). Significant correlations between the CETI-GR and measures of language severity, functional communication, and quality of life supported convergent validity. The CETI-GR is a reliable tool for assessing functional communication in chronic aphasia. Its Greek adaptation enhances aphasia rehabilitation, enabling person-centered care and improving the quality of life for people with aphasia and carers.

Abstract
One key limitation for assessing student knowledge of green chemistry is the lack of readily available assessments capable of eliciting reliable and valid data. Therefore, in this study we sought to evaluate the ability of a previously reported open-ended prompt [J. Chem. Educ.2019, 96 ( (11), ), 2410-2419. DOI: 10.1021/acs.jchemed.9b00277] to probe student conceptions about the greenness of chemical reactions. Responses to this prompt, which we titled the Green Chemistry Generic Comparison (GC)2 prompt, were collected from students enrolled in organic chemistry I and II lecture and laboratory courses (N = 642) and from students enrolled in general chemistry II lecture courses (N = 272). This prompt was found to be sensitive for detecting gains in green chemistry knowledge in pre- and post- conditions. Furthermore, psychometric analysis revealed that, while addressing certain green chemistry principles was well within the students' ability range, other principles exceeded that range. These findings indicate that this prompt provides a rapid and effective method for both measuring student knowledge and eliciting student conceptions of the green chemistry principles.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Automated CTP postprocessing packages have been developed for managing acute ischemic stroke. These packages use image processing techniques to identify the ischemic core and penumbra. This study aimed to investigate the agreement of decision-making rules and output derived from RapidAI and Viz.ai software packages in early and late time windows and to identify predictors of inadequate quality CTP studies. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred twenty-nine patients with acute ischemic stroke who had CTP performed on presentation were analyzed by RapidAI and Viz.ai. Volumetric outputs were compared between packages by performing Spearman rank-order correlation and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests with subanalysis performed at early (<6 hours) and extended (>6 hours) time windows. The concordance of selecting patients on the basis of DAWN and DEFUSE 3 eligibility criteria was assessed using the McNemar test. RESULTS One hundred eight of 129 patients were found to have adequate-quality studies. Spearman rank-order correlation coefficients were calculated on time-to-maximum >6-second volume, time-to-maximum >10-second volume, CBF <30% volume, mismatch volume, and mismatch ratio between both software packages with correlation coefficients of 0.82, 0.65, 0.77, 0.78, 0.59, respectively. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was also performed on time-to-maximum >6-second volume, time-to-maximum >10-second volume, CBF <30% volume, mismatch volume, and mismatch ratio with P values of .30, .016, <.001, .03, <.001, respectively. In a 1-sided test, CBF <30% was greater in Viz.ai (P < .001). Although this finding resulted in statistically significant differences, it did not cause clinically significant differences when applied to the DAWN and DEFUSE 3 criteria. A lower ejection fraction predicted an inadequate study in both software packages (P = .018; 95% CI, 0.01-0.113) and (P = .024; 95% CI, 0.008-0.109) for RapidAI and Viz.ai, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Penumbra and infarct core predictions between Rapid and Viz.ai correlated but were statistically different and resulted in equivalent triage using DAWN and DEFUSE3 criteria. Viz.ai predicted higher ischemic core volumes than RapidAI. Viz.ai predicted lower combined core and penumbra values than RapidAI at lower volumes and higher estimates than RapidAI at higher volumes. Clinicians should be cautious when using different software packages for clinical decision-making.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep apnea syndrome, characterized by recurrent cessation (apnea) or reduction (hypopnea) of breathing during sleep, is a major risk factor for postoperative respiratory depression. Challenges in sleep apnea assessment have led to the proposal of alternative metrics derived from oxyhemoglobin saturation (SpO2), such as oxygen desaturation index (ODI) and percentage of cumulative sleep time spent with SpO2 below 90% (CT90), as predictors of postoperative respiratory depression. However, their performance has been limited with area under the curve of 0.60 for ODI and 0.59 for CT90. Our objective was to propose novel features from preoperative overnight SpO2 which are correlated with sleep apnea severity and predictive of postoperative respiratory depression. METHODS Preoperative SpO2 signals from 235 surgical patients were retrospectively analyzed to derive seven features to characterize the sleep apnea severity. The features included entropy and standard deviation of SpO2 signal; below average burden characterizing the area under the average SpO2; average, standard deviation, and entropy of desaturation burdens; and overall nocturnal desaturation burden. The association between the extracted features and sleep apnea severity was assessed using Pearson correlation analysis. Logistic regression was employed to evaluate the predictive performance of the features in identifying postoperative respiratory depression. RESULTS Our findings indicated a similar performance of the proposed features to the conventional apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) for assessing sleep apnea severity, with average area under the curve ranging from 0.77 to 0.81. Notably, entropy and standard deviation of overnight SpO2 signal and below average burden showed comparable predictive capability to AHI but with minimal computational requirements and individuals' burden, making them promising for screening purposes. Our sex-based analysis revealed that compared to entropy and standard deviation, below average burden exhibited higher sensitivity in detecting respiratory depression in women than men. CONCLUSION This study underscores the potential of preoperative SpO2 features as alternative metrics to AHI in predicting postoperative respiratory.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Research on heterogeneous pathways in school-to-work transitions (SWT), particularly longitudinal research, has been limited, as have empirical studies examining effective interventions for facilitating multiple SWT pathways among non-engaged youth (NEY), who are generally at risk of being not in education, employment, or training (NEET). METHODS To develop a typology of SWT pathways, we conducted sequence analysis with longitudinal data from a sample of 630 NEY aged 14-29 (M = 19.78; 63.65% males) in Hong Kong during a 22-month period beginning in September 2020. We also performed multinomial logistic regressions to assess the impact of career and life development (CLD) interventions on SWT outcomes. RESULTS Our analysis yielded a fivefold typology of SWT pathways: the Employment/Entrepreneurship cluster (31.27%), the Vocational Education and Training cluster (13.49%), the Generic Education cluster (16.83%), the Serious Leisure Development cluster (15.24%), and the long-term NEET cluster (23.17%). NEY in the intervention group receiving CLD services, inspired by the expanded notion of work (ENOW) and youth development and intervention framework (YDIF), demonstrated significantly higher likelihoods of being in the Employment/Entrepreneurship (OR = 34.5, 95% CI [10.53, 105.08]), Generic Education (OR = 3.74, 95% CI [1.81, 7.74]), Vocational Education and Training (OR = 1.55, 95% CI [1.05, 6.26]), and Serious Leisure Development (OR = 1.77, 95% CI [1.04, 4.46]) clusters than the long-term NEET cluster. CONCLUSIONS Our findings highlight the dynamic, heterogeneous nature of NEY's CLD journeys, including that CLD interventions based on ENOW-YDIF have had a beneficial effect on NEY's multiple SWT pathways.

Abstract
The validation of a feasible application for the production of sustainable bricks with local materials in humid and hot climates, which would allow the current housing needs of a constantly growing population with scarce economic resources to be met while also reducing energy inputs for climate control, is a current challenge without a definitive solution. Therefore, this research studied the incorporation of local aggregates and two second-generation materials to produce lime-stabilized Compressed Earth Blocks (CSEBs) using a semi-automatic machine for their manufacture. An initial matrix was designed as a baseline, and three more were developed with variations to incorporate second-generation materials individually and as mixtures. The stabilizer was added in concentrations of 5, 10, and 15%, resulting in a total of 12 batches of CSEBs. Eleven of the studied batches exceed the normative limits for simple compressive strength and initial water absorption coefficient. The best result of simple compressive strength was obtained in two batches of the same matrix that used construction demolition waste (CDW), reaching 4.3 MPa (43% above the minimum limit established by the most restrictive regulations and 115% above the least restrictive). It was possible to produce sustainable bricks in situ with average ambient temperatures of 32 °C and relative humidity of 91%.

Abstract
PURPOSE In planning transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), retrospective cardiac spiral-CT is recommended to measure aortic annulus with subsequent CT-angiography (CTA) to evaluate access routes. Photon-counting detector (PCD)-CT enables to assess the aortic annulus in desired cardiac phases, using prospective ECG-gated high-pitch CTA. The aim of this study was to evaluate the measurement accuracy of aortic annulus using prospective ECG-gated high-pitch CTA against retrospective spiral-CT reference. METHOD Thirty patients underwent cardiac spiral-CT and prospective ECG-gated (30% R-R on aortic valve level) high-pitch CTA. Using propensity score matching, another 30 patients were identified whose CTA was performed using high-pitch mode without ECG-synchronization. Two investigators measured annular diameter, perimeter, and area on cardiac spiral-CT and high-pitch CTA. RESULTS The aortic valve was imaged in systole in 90 % of prospective ECG-gated CTA cases but only 50 % of non-ECG-gated CTA cases (p = 0.002). There was a strong correlation (r ≥ 0.94) without significant differences (p ≥ 0.09) between cardiac spiral-CT and prospective ECG-gated high-pitch CTA for all annulus measurements. In contrast, significant differences were found in annular short-axis diameter and area between cardiac spiral-CT and non-ECG-gated high-pitch CTA (p ≤ 0.03). Furthermore, prospective ECG-gated high-pitch CTA showed significantly reduced radiation exposure compared with cardiac spiral-CT (CTDI 4.52 vs. 24.10 mGy; p < 0.001). CONCLUSION PCD-CT-based prospective ECG-gated high-pitch scans with targeted systolic acquisition at the level of the aortic valve can simultaneously visualize TAVR access routes and accurately measure systolic annulus size. This approach could aid in optimizing protocols to achieve lower radiation doses in the growing population of younger, low-risk TAVR patients.

Abstract
AIM To adapt and determine the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Australian Pelvic Floor Questionnaire (APFQ). METHODS The original APFQ was translated and validated to obtain an Indonesian, physician-administered version on 41 urogynecology patients and 41 age-matched women without pelvic floor dysfunction. RESULTS Missing answers never exceeded 2%. The questionnaire can significantly discriminate between pelvic floor dysfunction patients and those without dysfunctions. The results of each domain of the questionnaire correlated with clinical examinations and another questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha scores of all domains were 0.859 for bladder function, 0.829 for bowel function, 0.892 for prolapse symptoms, and 0.766 for sexual function. CONCLUSION The Indonesian version of the Australian Pelvic Floor Questionnaire (APFQ) is a valid and reliable questionnaire for assessing pelvic floor symptoms among women in Indonesia.

Abstract
Medication reconciliation (MedRec) helps prevent medication errors. This cross-sectional, nationwide study assessed the knowledge, perceptions, practice, and barriers toward MedRec amongst hospital pharmacy practitioners in the United Arab Emirates. A total of 342 conveniently chosen stratified hospital pharmacists responded to the online survey (88.6% response rate). Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test were applied at alpha = 0.05 and post hoc analysis was performed using Bonferroni test. The overall median knowledge score was 9/12 with IQR (9-11) with higher levels among clinical pharmacists (p < 0.001) and previously trained pharmacists (p < 0.001). Of the respondents, 35.09% (n = 120) practiced MedRec for fewer than five patients per week despite having a strong perception of their role in this process. The overall median perception score was 32.5/35 IQR (28-35) with higher scores among clinical pharmacists (p < 0.001) and those who attended previous training or workshops (p < 0.001). The median barrier score was 24/30 with an IQR (21-25), where lack of training and knowledge were the most common barriers. Results showed that pharmacists who did not attend previous training or workshops on MedRec had higher barrier levels than those who attended (p = 0.012). This study emphasizes the significance of tackling knowledge gaps, aligning perceptions with practice, and suggesting educational interventions.

Abstract
Sugarcane is a central crop for sugar and ethanol production. Investing in sustainable practices can enhance productivity, technological quality, mitigate impacts, and contribute to a cleaner energy future. Among the factors that help increase the productivity of sugarcane, the physical, chemical and biological parameters of the soil are amongst the most important. The use of poultry litter has been an important alternative for soil improvement, as it acts as a soil conditioner. Therefore, this work aimed to verify the best doses of poultry litter for the vegetative, reproductive and technological components of sugarcane. The experiment was carried out at Usina Denusa Destilaria Nova União S/A in the municipality of Jandaia, GO. The experimental design used was a complete randomized block design with four replications: 5 × 4, totaling 20 experimental units. The evaluated factor consisted of four doses of poultry litter plus the control (0 (control), 2, 4, 6 and 8 t ha-1). In this study, were evaluated the number of tillers, lower stem diameter, average stem diameter, upper stem diameter, plant height, stem weight and productivity. The technological variables of total recoverable sugar, recoverable sugar, Brix, fiber, purity and percentage of oligosaccharides were also evaluated. It was observed, within the conditions of this experiment, that the insertion of poultry litter did not interfere significantly in most biometric, productive and technological variables of the sugarcane. But it can also be inferred that there was a statistical trend toward better results when the sugarcane was cultivated with 4 t ha-1 of poultry litter.
