Abstract
INTRODUCTION Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common, chronic inflammatory skin condition associated with significant impact on quality of life, yet its etiology and pathophysiology are not well understood. With significant impact on patients' quality of life, understanding the diagnostic pathway from the perspectives of patient and healthcare providers (HCPs) is crucial. METHODS An online survey was developed and administered in conjunction with the Harris Poll to gain insight into patient and HCP perspectives about SD diagnosis and management from December 2021 to January 2022. RESULTS Most patients were unaware of SD before their diagnosis (71%) and experienced difficulty finding information online (56%). Patients delayed seeking medical attention for SD by an average of 3.6 years, with most patients feeling their symptoms did not require medical attention (63%), a perception that HCPs correctly anticipated. Additionally, most patients (58%) reported embarrassment discussing their SD symptoms with HCPs, a factor HCPs underestimated. HCPs also underestimated the percentage of patients self-reporting moderate-severity SD. Patients preferred dermatology HCPs for SD treatment (79%), and reported visiting an average of 2.3 different HCPs, with 75% of patients seeing more than one provider. CONCLUSION These insights highlight the complexities in the diagnostic and management pathways of SD and underscore the need for a more nuanced understanding and approach in addressing the condition. Abstract
Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common, multifaceted skin condition, but its undefined etiology hampers the development of effective therapeutic strategies. In this review, we describe the intricate relationship between the skin microbiome and the pathogenesis of SD, focusing on the complex interplay between three major groups of organisms that can either induce inflammation (Malassezia spp., Staphylococcus aureus) or else promote healthy skin (Propionibacterium spp.). We describe how the disequilibrium of these microorganisms in the skin microbiome can develop skin inflammation in SD patients. Understanding these complex interactions of the skin microbiome has led to development of novel probiotics (e.g., Vitreoscilla spp. and Lactobacillus spp.) to restore normal skin physiology in SD. There are also differences in the skin microbiomes of healthy and SD infant and adult patients that impact pathogenesis and prompt different management strategies. A deeper understanding of the skin microbiome and its dynamic interactions will provide valuable insights into the pathogenesis of SD and prompt further development of targeted probiotic treatments to restore the balance of the skin microbiome in SD patients.

Abstract
This case discusses a 55-year-old patient who was evaluated at a dermatology outpatient clinic for a chronic, pruritic, and painful hyperkeratotic plaque located on her scalp vertex. Given the size of the plaque and its thick, yellow scales, an initial clinical diagnosis of seborrheic dermatitis was favored. However, after weeks of unsuccessful treatment with ketoconazole shampoo, topical fluocinolone 0.01% oil, mupirocin ointment, and oral doxycycline, it became apparent that deeper investigation and reconsideration of the original diagnosis were warranted. A punch biopsy and direct immunofluorescence of the lesion were performed, and the results revealed a final diagnosis of pemphigus vulgaris (PV). This case highlights the complexity of dermatology and the challenges in achieving an accurate diagnosis based solely on clinical features, mainly when diseases exhibit overlapping characteristics or are present in less familiar ways. Distinguishing between conditions with similar features can be particularly difficult and becomes even more crucial when one condition is benign, and another is potentially fatal. Therefore, we recommend further investigating when a skin condition does not resolve or fails to respond to multiple treatment attempts.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) poses significant treatment challenges due to its chronic nature and the side effects associated with long-term use of conventional therapies like topical corticosteroids. In the search for alternative treatments, exosomes, particularly those derived from rose stem cells (RSCEs), offer a promising avenue due to their potential in managing chronic skin conditions. OBJECTIVE This case report examines the efficacy of a topical moisturizer containing RSCEs in treating a patient with refractory SD, aiming to provide an alternative treatment pathway. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 40-year-old male with a long-standing history of SD, unresponsive to traditional treatments, underwent a novel treatment regimen. This regimen included an initial topical application of 2.5 mL of RSCEs followed by a maintenance phase involving the application of a RSCE-containing moisturizer. Clinical outcomes were assessed through the Patient's Global Assessment (PGA) and Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) scores, along with evaluations of scaling and erythema. RESULTS Remarkable clinical improvement was noted as early as 1-day post-treatment, with significant reductions in redness, scaling, and itching. The patient experienced sustained relief throughout the 6-month follow-up, with a recurrence in the sixth month that was less severe than previous flare-ups. This demonstrated not only the efficacy of RSCEs in symptom management but also their potential in extending remission periods. CONCLUSION The chronic management of SD can benefit from innovative treatments like the RSCE-containing moisturizer, as shown in this case report. While the observed outcomes are promising, indicating substantial improvements in skin condition and symptom management, larger controlled studies are necessary to validate the therapeutic potential of exosome-containing moisturizers fully. This case underscores the need for alternative therapies in SD treatment, highlighting the role of exosomes as a viable option.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the field of SD, but there has been no bibliometric research yet. This study aims to use bibliometric methods to analyze the current research status and hot topics of SD, to understand further the research trends and future development prospects in this field. METHODS Retrieve core literature on SD from the Web of Science database and conduct a detailed analysis using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software based on factors such as publication volume, countries (regions), research institutions, journals, authors, highly-cited papers, and keywords. RESULTS From 1996 to 2024, a total of 1436 publications were included in the bibliometric analysis. The number of publications has shown an increasing trend year by year. The USA is the leading country in this field of research. The University of California System is the primary research institution. The International Journal of Dermatology is the journal with the highest number of publications. The author Yang Won Lee has the highest number of publications, while the article "Seborrheic Dermatitis" (2004) by Gupta, A.K. has been cited the most. "Seborrheic dermatitis" is the most frequently occurring keyword. The main research hotspots and frontiers in SD are as follows: (1) The relationship between SD and other skin diseases is a popular research topic; (2) Malassezia and inflammation are current research hotspots in SD; and (3) Focusing on antifungal and anti-inflammatory treatments for SD is the current frontier direction in this field. CONCLUSION This study is a summary of the current status and hot trends of SD research, which helps clinical doctors and researchers quickly understand the insights and valuable information of SD research and provides reference for clinical decision-making and finding future research directions.

Abstract
Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) often leads to ocular manifestations (OM) that are frequently overlooked. This study comprehensively explains the genesis of these ocular issues, which involves a combination of Malassezia overgrowth, changes in sebum production, and inflammatory responses in the body. The periocular region is rich in sebaceous glands, allowing Malassezia to thrive, which can lead to an inflammatory reaction that spreads to the eye surface, causing disorders such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, and ocular surface diseases. Although epidemiological data are limited, it is well established that ocular involvement occurs in approximately 10%-40% of individuals with SD. Early detection and treatment are crucial to prevent potential vision-threatening complications. A comprehensive diagnostic approach is necessary, including clinical examination, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tear film analysis, and corneal imaging. Managing these conditions requires a multidisciplinary strategy involving collaboration between dermatologists and ophthalmologists. The treatment should involve topical and systemic medications to address the skin and ocular components. Patient education is critical for improving adherence to therapy, self-management, and the early identification of problems. In the future, it will be essential to investigate the intricate interactions between Malassezia species and host immunological processes. This collective effort will involve creating new biomarkers and diagnostic tools, investigating targeted immunomodulatory drugs and novel lipid-based medicines as potential treatments, and conducting large-scale longitudinal studies to understand the epidemiological patterns and prognostic variables better. By raising awareness, encouraging collaboration across disciplines, and advancing research, healthcare practitioners can significantly improve patients' quality of life with SD and OM.

Abstract
Malassezia are yeast species that commonly colonize healthy skin. However, they have been associated with or implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous skin disorders, particularly in the setting of pediatric populations. In this review, we will focus on several Malassezia-associated skin conditions manifesting in infants, children, and adolescents: pityriasis versicolor, Malassezia folliculitis, infantile and adolescent seborrheic dermatitis, head and neck dermatitis, and neonatal cephalic pustulosis. We examine the literature and provide an overview of these conditions, including clinical presentation in diverse skin colors, diagnosis, risk factors, and treatment and management. Additionally, we summarize and highlight some of the proposed theories on the role of Malassezia spp. in the pathogenesis of these skin conditions.

Abstract
Red scalp is a common complaint that may constitute a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge in daily clinical practice. Among the numerous diseases to cause diffuse scalp erythema are psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, diffuse lichen planopilaris, dermatomyositis and scalp rosacea. Accurate diagnosis is crucial for optimal treatment outcomes. Histology most frequently discriminates the underlying condition, but it requires scalp biopsy. In many cases, the combination of clinical examination and trichoscopy is sufficient for establishing the correct diagnosis. The main trichoscopic features of psoriasis are silver-white scaling, regularly distributed dotted (glomerular) vessels or twisted red loops, and punctate haemorrhages. Yellowish-white scaling and thin arborizing vessels are typical features of seborrhoeic dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is characterized by the presence of yellow exudate and polymorphic vessels, while perifollicular scaling and erythema with the lack of follicular openings are typical findings in lichen planopilaris. In scalp dermatomyositis, tortuous and arborizing vessels with interfollicular and perifollicular pigmentation may be detected. The most characteristic features of scalp rosacea are perifollicular scaling and polygonal/arborizing vessels. This review also summarizes histological features and therapeutic options for these conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pathogenesis of seborrheic dermatitis involves lipid secretion by sebaceous glands, Malassezia colonization, and an inflammatory response with skin barrier disruption. Each of these pathways could be modulated by diet, obesity, and nutritional supplements. Current treatment options provide only temporary control of the condition; thus, it is essential to recognize modifiable lifestyle factors that may play a role in determining disease severity. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to summarize published evidence on diet, nutritional supplements, alcohol, obesity, and micronutrients in patients with seborrheic dermatitis and to provide useful insights into areas of further research. METHODS A literature search of Scopus, PubMed, and MEDLINE (Ovid interface) for English language papers published between 1993 and 2023 was conducted on April 16, 2023. Case-control studies, cohort studies, and randomized controlled trials with 5 or more subjects conducted on adult participants (>14 years) were included, case reports, case series, and review papers were excluded due to insufficient level of evidence. RESULTS A total of 13 studies, 8 case-control, 3 cross-sectional, and 2 randomized controlled trials, involving 13,906 patients were included. Seborrheic dermatitis was correlated with significantly increased copper, manganese, iron, calcium, and magnesium concentrations and significantly lower serum zinc and vitamin D and E concentrations. Adherence to the Western diet was associated with a higher risk for seborrheic dermatitis in female patients and an increased consumption of fruit was associated with a lower risk of seborrheic dermatitis in all patients. The prebiotic Triphala improved patient satisfaction and decreased scalp sebum levels over 8 weeks. Most studies find associations between regular alcohol use and seborrheic dermatitis, but the association between BMI and obesity on seborrheic dermatitis severity and prevalence is mixed. CONCLUSIONS This review sheds light on specific promising areas of research that require further study, including the need for interventional studies evaluating serum zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin E supplementation for seborrheic dermatitis. The negative consequences of a Western diet, alcohol use, obesity, and the benefits of fruit consumption are well known; however, to fully understand their specific relationships to seborrheic dermatitis, further cohort or interventional studies are needed. Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common inflammatory skin condition characterized by itchy, sensitive patches of greasy, flaky skin in areas rich in sebaceous glands, such as the scalp. Cases range from asymptomatic to debilitating, with effective treatment in severe cases proving crucial to patient quality of life. Ketoconazole shampoo is a topical antifungal that is a promising treatment option for individuals affected by this condition.Numerous trials display significant improvement in irritation and scaling of scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SSD) with ketoconazole shampoo treatment. Most studies also report optimally low relapse rates as well as little to no side effects, including rare skin irritation that resolves with cessation of the drug. Based on these findings, ketoconazole shampoo seems to be a safe and effective treatment for SSD.The present investigation reviews knowledge and research regarding ketoconazole shampoo as a treatment for SSD for physician consideration in the clinical setting.

Abstract
The scalp microbiome represents an array of microorganisms important in maintaining scalp homeostasis and mediating inflammation. Scalp microbial dysregulation has been implicated in dermatologic conditions including alopecia areata (AA), dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis (D/SD), scalp psoriasis (SP) and folliculitis decalvans (FD). Understanding the impact of scalp microbial dysbiosis gives insight on disease pathophysiology and guides therapeutic decision making. Herein we review the scalp microbiome and its functional role in scalp conditions by analysis of metagenomic medical literature in alopecia, D/SD, SP, and other dermatologic disease.Increased abundance of Malassezia, Staphylococcus, and Brevibacterium was associated with SD compared to healthy controls. A higher proportion of Corynebacterium, actinobacteria, and firmicutes are present in AA patients, and lower proportions of Staphylococcus caprae are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Decreased prevalence of actinobacteria and Propionibacterium and increased firmicutes, staphylococcus, and streptococcus are associated with scalp psoriasis. Studies of central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) suggest scalp microbial composition contributes to CCCA's pro-inflammatory status. The most common organisms associated with FD include methicillin-resistant S. aureus and S. lugdunensis. Antifungals have been a mainstay treatment for these diseases, while other alternatives including coconut oils and shampoos with heat-killed probiotics have shown considerable potential efficacy by replenishing the scalp microbiome.

Abstract
Background Probiotics are intellectually rewarding for the discovery of their potential as a source of functional food. Investigating the economic and beauty sector dynamics, this study conducted a comprehensive review of scholarly articles to evaluate the capacity of probiotics to promote hair growth and manage dandruff. Methods We used the PRISMA 2020 with Embase, Pubmed, ClinicalTrials.gov, Scopus, and ICTRP databases to investigate studies till May 2023. Meta-analyses utilizing the random effects model were used with odds ratios (OR) and standardized mean differences (SMD). Result Meta-analysis comprised eight randomized clinical trials and preclinical studies. Hair growth analysis found a non-significant improvement in hair count (SMD = 0.32, 95 % CI -0.10 to 0.75) and a significant effect on thickness (SMD = 0.92, 95 % CI 0.47 to 1.36). In preclinical studies, probiotics significantly induced hair follicle count (SMD = 3.24, 95 % CI 0.65 to 5.82) and skin thickness (SMD = 2.32, 95 % CI 0.47 to 4.17). VEGF levels increased significantly (SMD = 2.97, 95 % CI 0.80 to 5.13), while IGF-1 showed a non-significant inducement (SMD = 0.53, 95 % CI -4.40 to 5.45). For dandruff control, two studies demonstrated non-significant improvement in adherent dandruff (OR = 1.31, 95 % CI 0.13-13.65) and a significant increase in free dandruff (OR = 5.39, 95 % CI 1.50-19.43). Hair follicle count, VEGF, IGF-1, and adherent dandruff parameters were recorded with high heterogeneity. For the systematic review, probiotics have shown potential in improving hair growth and controlling dandruff through modulation of the immune pathway and gut-hair axis. The Wnt/β-catenin pathway, IGF-1 pathway, and VEGF are key molecular pathways in regulating hair follicle growth and maintenance. Conclusions This review found significant aspects exemplified by the properties of probiotics related to promoting hair growth and anti-dandruff effect, which serve as a roadmap for further in-depth studies to make it into pilot scales.

Abstract
Pediatric dermatitis seborrhoica (DS) is a common inflammatory disorder of infancy and adolescence distinct from atopic dermatitis. We performed a narrative review on clinical and therapeutic aspects of the disease. The prevalence varies geographically and can reach up to 10%. There is a slight male predominance. Although etiopathology is not well known, both endogenous and exogenous factors contribute. Skin microbiome and its interaction with sebaceous gland function is crucial. The inflammatory pathways include innate immune function and skin barrier disturbances. Malassezia spp. and certain bacteria are increased in lesional skin. DS develops in different clinical subtypes, from localized cephalic to disseminated disease with a risk of erythroderma and eczema herpeticatum. Treatment consists of skin care and topical and rarely systemic medical therapy. Cornerstones of treatment are antifungals and mild corticosteroids. Targeted treatment is on the horizon. Pediatric DS is a common disorder important in the differential diagnosis of skin problems in infants and and children. Due to better understanding of its pathogenesis, new treatment options are developed.

Abstract
Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) impacts a diverse demographic, with treatment effectiveness and suitability varying across hair types and cultural practices. Available shampoo treatments contain surfactants that compromise hair moisture and integrity as well as requiring frequent use, which may not align with the routines of various hair types and cultural hair care practices. Most available topical foams and gels contain high concentrations of drying alcohols that damage hair color and moisture. Newly US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved roflumilast 0.3% foam presents a significant advancement in the treatment of SD owing to its pH-balanced, residue-free formulation that is suited for all hair types, including patients with curly or coiled hair. It presents a culturally inclusive treatment option that offers effective management of SD while maintaining hair health and respecting diverse hair care needs and practices.

Abstract
Trace elements are essential for maintaining the body's homeostasis, and their special role has been demonstrated in skin physiology. Among the most important trace elements are zinc, copper, and iron. A deficiency or excess of trace elements can be associated with an increased risk of skin diseases, so increasing their supplementation or limiting intake can be helpful in dermatological treatment. In addition, determinations of their levels in various types of biological material can be useful as additional tests in dermatological treatment. This paper describes the role of these elements in skin physiology and summarizes data on zinc, copper, and iron in the course of selected, following skin diseases: psoriasis, pemphigus vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris and seborrheic dermatitis. In addition, this work identifies the potential of trace elements as auxiliary tests in dermatology. According to preliminary studies, abnormal levels of zinc, copper, and iron are observed in many skin diseases and their determinations in serum or hair can be used as auxiliary and prognostic tests in the course of various dermatoses. However, since data for some conditions are conflicting, clearly defining the potential of trace elements as auxiliary tests or elements requiring restriction/supplement requires further research.

Abstract
Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is an inflammatory skin disorder and eczema subtype increasingly recognized to be associated with significant physical, psychosocial, and financial burden. The full spectrum of SD, including dandruff localized to the scalp, is estimated to affect half of the world's population. Despite such high prevalence, the exact etiopathogenesis of SD remains unclear. Historically, many researchers have theorized a central, causative role of Malassezia spp. based on prior studies including the proliferation of Malassezia yeast on lesional skin of some SD patients and empiric clinical response to antifungal therapy. However, upon closer examination, many of these findings have not been reproducible nor consistent. Emerging data from novel, targeted anti-inflammatory therapeutics, as well as evidence from genome-wide association studies and murine models, should prompt a reevaluation of the popular yeast-centered hypothesis. Here, through focused review of the literature, including laboratory studies, clinical trials, and expert consensus, we examine and synthesize the data arguing for and against a primary role for Malassezia in SD. We propose an expansion of SD pathogenesis and suggest reframing our view of SD to be based primarily on dysregulation of the host immune system and skin epidermal barrier, like other eczemas.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) affects 18.6%-59% of persons with Parkinson disease (PD), and recent studies provide evidence that oral cannabidiol (CBD) therapy could reduce sebum production in addition to improving motor and psychiatric symptoms in PD. Therefore, oral CBD could be useful for improving symptoms of both commonly co-occurring conditions. OBJECTIVE This study investigates whether oral CBD therapy is associated with a decrease in SD severity in PD. METHODS Facial photographs were collected as a component of a randomized (1:1 CBD vs placebo), parallel, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial assessing the efficacy of a short-term 2.5 mg per kg per day oral sesame solution CBD-rich cannabis extract (formulated to 100 mg/mL CBD and 3.3 mg/mL THC) for reducing motor symptoms in PD. Participants took 1.25 mg per kg per day each morning for 4 ±1 days and then twice daily for 10 ±4 days. Reviewers analyzed the photographs independently and provided a severity ranking based on the Seborrheic Dermatitis Area and Severity Index (SEDASI) scale. Baseline demographic and disease characteristics, as well as posttreatment SEDASI averages and the presence of SD, were analyzed with 2-tailed t tests and Pearson χ2 tests. SEDASI was analyzed with longitudinal regression, and SD was analyzed with generalized estimating equations. RESULTS A total of 27 participants received a placebo and 26 received CBD for 16 days. SD severity was low in both groups at baseline, and there was no treatment effect. The risk ratio for patients receiving CBD, post versus pre, was 0.69 (95% CI 0.41-1.18; P=.15), compared to 1.20 (95% CI 0.88-1.65; P=.26) for the patients receiving the placebo. The within-group pre-post change was not statistically significant for either group, but they differed from each other (P=.07) because there was an estimated improvement for the CBD group and an estimated worsening for the placebo group. CONCLUSIONS This study does not provide solid evidence that oral CBD therapy reduces the presence of SD among patients with PD. While this study was sufficiently powered to detect the primary outcome (efficacy of CBD on PD motor symptoms), it was underpowered for the secondary outcomes of detecting changes in the presence and severity of SD. Multiple mechanisms exist through which CBD can exert beneficial effects on SD pathogenesis. Larger studies, including participants with increased disease severity and longer treatment periods, may better elucidate treatment effects and are needed to determine CBD's true efficacy for affecting SD severity. Abstract
A protocol study was designed to examine cutaneous behavior after continuous application of a peloid in the dry mineral residue of Lanjarón-Capuchina natural mineral water. This study aims to analyze the biomechanical behavior of normal skin using various non-invasive bioengineering techniques after the application of this peloid. We determine the effects of its application for 3 months on 38 healthy volunteers (41.4 ± 5.9 years, range 32-58) without a previous history of skin diseases by courtmetry, sebumetry, pH-metry, reviscometry, and tewametry. It was shown that the production of cutaneous sebum is significantly reduced by 6%, trans epidermal skin loss (TEWL) by 21%, skin fatigue by 30%, elasticity increased by 19%, firmness by 5%, and a skin redensification by 6% was obtained under these experimental conditions. Disparate and non-significant results were obtained concerning pH and viscoelasticity. Continuous skin care with the Lanjarón-Capuchina natural peloid modifies skin behavior, normalizing sebaceous secretion, favoring the biomechanical properties of the skin and the skin barrier function without modifying skin homeostasis.

Abstract
Chronic exposure to stress is a non-adaptive situation that is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction and the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially superoxide anion (SA). This accumulation of ROS produces damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), which activate chronic inflammatory states and behavioral changes found in several mood disorders. In a previous study, we observed that an imbalance of SA triggered by rotenone (Ro) exposure caused evolutionarily conserved oxi-inflammatory disturbances and behavioral changes in Eisenia fetida earthworms. These results supported our hypothesis that SA imbalance triggered by Ro exposure could be attenuated by lithium carbonate (LC), which has anti-inflammatory properties. The initial protocol exposed earthworms to Ro (30 nM) and four different LC concentrations. LC at a concentration of 12.85 mg/L decreased SA and nitric oxide (NO) levels and was chosen to perform complementary assays: (1) neuromuscular damage evaluated by optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), (2) innate immune inefficiency by analysis of Eisenia spp. extracellular neutrophil traps (eNETs), and (3) behavioral changes. Gene expression was also evaluated involving mitochondrial (COII, ND1), inflammatory (EaTLR, AMP), and neuronal transmission (nAchR α5). LC attenuated the high melanized deposits in the circular musculature, fiber disarrangement, destruction of secretory glands, immune inefficiency, and impulsive behavior pattern triggered by Ro exposure. However, the effects of LC and Ro on gene expression were more heterogeneous. In summary, SA imbalance, potentially associated with mitochondrial dysfunction, appears to be an evolutionary component triggering oxidative, inflammatory, and behavioral changes observed in psychiatric disorders that are inhibited by LC exposure.

Abstract
Introduction Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a chronic, inflammatory papulosquamous skin disease. The symptoms and signs of SD are typically managed by topical ketoconazole and topical corticosteroids. However, they don't provide a cure for SD, which explains the disease's chronic nature. With this study, we aimed to identify specific dietary modifications that can be implemented as an adjunctive to traditional treatment of SD. Methods A case-control retrospective study. Data was obtained from medical records of patients diagnosed with SD. Patients were invited to participate in an online self-reported questionnaire, and dietary intake was assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. The controls were collected by distributing the same questionnaire to healthy adult residents living in Jeddah via social media. Results Two hundred sixty-seven participants were included in the study, 59 of whom were SD patients. Participants who reported consuming the following food types once daily had a higher percentage of SD compared to those without SD: a slice of white bread (p=0.002), a cup of rice or pasta (p<0.001), non-acidic fruits (p=0.014), leafy green vegetables (p=0.007), other types of vegetables (p=0.001), roasted or fried nuts (p=0.047), raw nuts (p=0.022) and a cup of coffee (p=0.041). When asked about their impression of what food types triggered or relieved their disease, 29 (49.2%) of the diseased participants reported no flare-ups with any kind of food. On the other hand, the following food types were commonly reported to be associated with SD exacerbation: spicy food (16.9%), sweets (16.9%), fried food (13.5%), dairy products (11.9%), and citrus fruits (10.2%). In contrast, citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables (8.5% for each), and the other types of vegetables (6.8%) were frequently observed with SD improvement. Conclusion Several dietary factors have been associated with SD in our cohort. Thus, our findings could offer new insights into the application of adjuvant dietary measures that might play a role in the improvement of SD symptoms and potentially enhance therapeutic outcomes.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In the framework of the IMI2-NeuroDeRisk consortium, three in vitro electrophysiology assays were compared to improve preclinical prediction of seizure-inducing liabilities. METHODS Two cell models, primary rat cortical neurons and human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived glutamatergic neurons co-cultured with hiPSC-derived astrocytes were tested on two different microelectrode array (MEA) platforms, Maestro Pro (Axion Biosystems) and Multiwell-MEA-System (Multi Channel Systems), in three separate laboratories. Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) and/or picrotoxin (PTX) were included in each plate as positive (n = 3-6 wells) and ≤0.2% DMSO was used as negative controls (n = 3-12 wells). In general, concentrations in a range of 0.1-30 μM were tested, anchored, when possible, on clinically relevant exposures (unbound Cmax) were tested. Activity thresholds for drug-induced changes were set at 20%. To evaluate sensitivity, specificity and predictivity of the cell models, seizurogenic responses were defined as changes in 4 or more endpoints. Concentration dependence trends were also considered. RESULTS Neuronal activity of 33 compounds categorized as positive tool drugs, seizure-positive or seizure-negative compounds was evaluated. Acute drug effects (<60 min) were compared to baseline recordings. Time points < 15 min exhibited stronger, less variable responses to many of the test agents. For many compounds a reduction and cessation of neuronal activity was detected at higher test concentrations. There was not a single pattern of seizurogenic activity detected, even among tool compounds, likely due to different mechanisms of actions and/or off-target profiles. A post-hoc analysis focusing on changes indicative of neuronal excitation is presented. CONCLUSION All cell models showed good sensitivity, ranging from 70 to 86%. Specificity ranged from 40 to 70%. Compared to more conventional measurements of evoked activity in hippocampal slices, these plate-based models provide higher throughput and the potential to study subacute responses. Yet, they may be limited by the random, spontaneous nature of their network activity.

Abstract
Scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SSD) is a prevalent chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease. The etiology is related to sebum production, bacterial proliferation - Staphylococcus sp., Streptococcus, and M. restricta - and host immunity factors - NK1+, CD16+ cells, IL-1, and IL-8. Trichoscopy features include mostly arborizing vessels and yellowish scales. New trichoscopic findings were described to guide the diagnosis as dandelion vascular conglomerate, "cherry blossom" vascular pattern, and intrafollicular oily material. Antifungals and corticosteroids constitute the essential therapy, but new treatments have been described. This article aims to review and discuss the etiology, pathophysiology, trichoscopy, histopathologic findings, main differential diagnoses, and therapeutic options of SSD.

Abstract
Acute skin failure is rarely the primary diagnosis that necessitates admission to an intensive care unit. Dermatological manifestations in critically ill patients, on the other hand, are relatively common and can be used to make a key diagnosis of an adverse drug reaction or an underlying systemic illness, or they may be caused by factors related to a prolonged stay or invasive procedures. In intensive care units, their classification is based on the aetiopathogenesis of the cutaneous lesion and, in the meantime, distinguishes critical patients. When evaluating dermatological manifestations, several factors must be considered: onset, morphology, distribution, and associated symptoms and signs. This review depicts dermatological signs in critical patients in order to lay out better recognition.

Abstract
Three individual hydroalcoholic extracts derived from Hamamelis virginiana leaves, Krameria lappacea root, Salix alba bark, and the resulting herbal mixture (HM) were assessed for the phytochemical profile as well as for antibacterial and cytotoxic potential. The chemical composition of the individual extracts and of their mixture was analyzed by chromatographical (LC-MS) and spectrophotometrical methods. The antimicrobial properties were evaluated by using the agar-well diffusion and the broth microdilution assays, whereas the potential cytotoxicity was investigated on human keratinocyte cell line by MTT method and apoptosis test. The HM composition revealed important amounts of valuable polyphenolic compounds provided from the individual extracts, having synergistic biological effects. All tested extracts displayed in vitro antimicrobial properties, with a significantly higher efficacy noticed for the HM when tested against Staphylococcus aureus. Moreover, none of the tested extracts was responsible for in vitro cytotoxicity against the human keratinocytes in the selected concentration range. Furthermore, the HM was included in an oil-in-water cream for the nonpharmacological treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, developed and optimized by using a QbD approach. A D-optimal experimental plan with four factors that varied on two levels was used to investigate the effect of the quantitative variation of the formulation factors (emulsifier, co-emulsifier, thickening agent, oily phase ratio) on the characteristics of the cream in terms of firmness, consistency, adhesiveness, stringiness, spreadability, and viscosity. Based on the experimental results, an optimal formulation containing 2.5% emulsifier and 20% oily phase was prepared and analyzed. The obtained results showed appropriate quality characteristics of this novel cream, which may be used in the future to manage the associated symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis.
