Abstract
Objective: To preliminarily examine the feasibility and outcome of single-port laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with full-length urethral preservation (FLUP-SPRP). Method: This study was a prospective case series study. A total of 25 patients with prostate cancer who met the enrollment criteria and agreed to this surgical procedure from March 2022 to December 2022 were collected at the Department of Urology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. The age of the patients was (67.2±7.6) years (range: 61 to 76 years). This novel procedure was performed by an experienced surgeon who performed single hole radical prostatectomy skillfully. Patient urinary control, tumor control, and related surgical complications after surgery were regularly monitored. Postoperative urinary control was evaluated using the daily amount of urine pad, 0 to 1 piece of urine pad was to restore urinary control, and 0 to 1 piece of pad within 24 hours after catheter removal was immediate urinary control. Result: All prodecures were successfully completed without transit to open surgery. The surgical time was (128.4±22.4) minutes (range: 100 to 145 minutes), the intraoperative blood loss was (68.2±13.7) ml (range: 50 to 120 ml). The urethral injury occurred in 4 cases during surgery and was repaired by sutures. The urinary control recovery rates within 24 hours, 1 week, 4 weeks, and 7 weeks after surgery were 80.0%, 84.0%, 92.0% and 100%, respectively. Postoperative large section pathology revealed 1 case with a positive basal margin of the prostate and negative margins of all prostate glands around the urethra. Postoperative complications included urinary tract infection in 3 cases, urodynia in 2 cases, and acute urinary retention in 1 case. MRI follow-up 3 months after surgery showed normal anatomy of the bladder and urethra. The follow-up values of prostate specific antigen at 3 and 6 months after surgery were less than 0.1 μg/L. Conclusions: The preliminary results of this study indicate that the FLUP-SPRP procedure is safe and feasible. The early results of postoperative urinary control and oncology are as expected.

Abstract
The present experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different stocking densities on the organ development, blood biochemical indices, and antioxidative status of breeder pigeons during the rearing period. A total of 280 (half male and half female) 40-day-old young pigeons were allocated into 4 groups, including 3 experimental groups (in compartments of the flying room): the high stocking density (HSD) (0.308 m3/bird), standard stocking density (SD) (0.616 m3/bird), and low stocking density (LSD) (1.232 m3/bird) and a caged control (0.04125 m3/bird). The results showed that the contents of corticosterone and heat shock protein 70 in males and the corticosterone content in females were higher in the control than in the other groups. The relative weight of liver, lung, and gizzard in males of the HSD group was the highest among the 4 treatments, whereas the abdominal fat index in the control group was higher than those in the other 3 treatments. Body weight and the relative weight of liver and abdominal fat in female pigeons in HSD group increased significantly. The levels of serum urea nitrogen and uric acid in pigeons of LSD group increased significantly, while the concentration of total cholesterol and the activity of alanine aminotransferase were higher in the control group. Ion (K+, Ca2+, and Na+) concentrations in female pigeon serum were also elevated in the control. The activity of antioxidant enzymes, including the total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase, and glutathione peroxidase in pigeon breast muscle and liver had different degrees of inhibition when the space room was crowded. Moreover, the level of malondialdehyde in the liver of male caged pigeons was higher than that in the other treatments. In summary, rearing in cages or at a high density caused stress responses in the breeder pigeons. The stocking density of breeder pigeons during the rearing period should be ranged from 0.616 m3/bird to 1.232 m3/bird.

Abstract
Background Anaplastic lymphoma kinase-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (ALK-TKIs) are mainly used in the treatment of ALK-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but a comprehensive clinical evaluation of ALK-TKIs is lacking. Hence, a comparison of ALK-TKIs for first-line treatment of ALK-positive advanced NSCLC is essential to provide rational drug use and a basis for improving national policies and systems. Methods According to the Guideline for the Administration of Clinical Comprehensive Evaluation of Drugs (2021) and the Technical Guideline for the Clinical Comprehensive Evaluation of Antitumor Drugs (2022), a comprehensive clinical evaluation index system of first-line treatment drugs for ALK-positive advanced NSCLC was established by literature review and expert interviews. We conducted a systematic literature review, meta-analysis, and other relevant data analyses, combined with an indicator system, to establish a quantitative and qualitative integration analysis for each indicator and each dimension of crizotinib, ceritinib, alectinib, ensartinib, brigatinib, and lorlatinib. Results The comprehensive clinical evaluation results of all dimensions were as follows: in terms of safety, alectinib had a lower incidence of grade 3 and above adverse reactions; for effectiveness, alectinib, brigatinib, ensartinib, and lorlatinib showed better clinical efficacy, and alectinib and brigatinib have been recommended by several clinical guidelines; in terms of economy, second-generation ALK-TKIs have more cost-utility advantages, and both alectinib and ceritinib have been recommended by the UK and Canadian Health Technology Assessment (HTA) agencies; for suitability, accessibility, and innovation, alectinib has a higher degree of physician recommendations and patient compliance. Except for brigatinib and lorlatinib, all other ALK-TKIs have been admitted to the medical insurance directory; the accessibility of crizotinib, ceritinib, and alectinib is good, meeting the needs of patients. Second- and third-generation ALK-TKIs have higher blood-brain barrier permeability, stronger inhibition ability, and innovation than first-generation ALK-TKIs. Conclusions Compared with other ALK-TKIs, alectinib performs better across six dimensions and has a higher comprehensive clinical value. The results provide better drug choice and rational use for patients with ALK-positive advanced NSCLC.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the neuroprotective mechanism of ginsenoside Re(GS-Re) on drosophila model of Parkinson's disease(PD) induced by rotenone(Rot). To be specific, Rot was used to induce PD in drosophilas. Then the drosophilas were grouped and respectively treated(GS-Re: 0.1, 0.4, 1.6 mmol·L~(-1); L-dopa: 80 μmol·L~(-1)). Life span and crawling ability of drosophilas were determined. The brain antioxidant activity [content of catalase(CAT), malondialdehyde(MDA), reactive oxygen species(ROS), superoxide dismutase(SOD)], dopamine(DA) content, and mitochondrial function [content of adenosine triphosphate(ATP), NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit B8(NDUFB8) Ⅰ activity, succinate dehydrogenase complex, subunit B(SDHB) Ⅱ activity] were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The number of DA neurons in the brains of drosophilas was measured with the immunofluorescence method. The levels of NDUFB8 Ⅰ, SDHB Ⅱ, cytochrome C(Cyt C), nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2(Nrf2), heme oxygenase-1(HO-1), B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 2(Bcl-2)/Bcl-2-assaciated X protein(Bax), and cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3 in the brain were detected by Western blot. The results showed that model group [475 μmol·L~(-1) Rot(IC_(50))] demonstrated significantly low survival rate, obvious dyskinesia, small number of neurons and low DA content in the brain, high ROS level and MDA content, low content of SOD and CAT, significantly low ATP content, NDUFB8 Ⅰ activity, and SDHB Ⅱ activity, significantly low expression of NDUFB8 Ⅰ, SDHB Ⅱ, and Bcl-2/Bax, large amount of Cyt C released from mitochondria to cytoplasm, low nuclear transfer of Nrf2, and significantly high expression of cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3 compared with the control group. GS-Re(0.1, 0.4, and 1.6 mmol·L~(-1)) significantly improved the survival rate of PD drosophilas, alleviated the dyskinesia, increased DA content, reduced the loss of DA neurons, ROS level, and MDA content in brain, improved content of SOD and CAT and antioxidant activity in brain, maintained mitochondrial homeostasis(significantly increased ATP content and activity of NDUFB8 Ⅰ and SDHB Ⅱ, significantly up-regulated expression of NDUFB8 Ⅰ, SDHB Ⅱ, and Bcl-2/Bax), significantly reduced the expression of Cyt C, increased the nuclear transfer of Nrf2, and down-regulated the expression of cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3. In conclusion, GS-Re can significantly relieve the Rot-induced cerebral neurotoxicity in drosophilas. The mechanism may be that GS-Re activates Keap1-Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway by maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis, improves antioxidant capacity of brain neurons, then inhibits mitochondria-mediated caspase-3 signaling pathway, and the apoptosis of neuronal cells, thereby exerting the neuroprotective effect.

Abstract
To investigate the antidepressant mechanism of Shenling Kaixin Granules(SLKX) in treating chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS) model rats. Ninety male SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, Shugan Jieyu Capsules(110 mg·kg~(-1)) group and SLKX low-(90 mg·kg~(-1)), medium-(180 mg·kg~(-1)), and high-dose(360 mg·kg~(-1)) groups. Depression rat model was replicated by CUMS method. After treatment, the behavioral changes of rats were evaluated by sugar preference, open field, elevated cross maze and forced swimming experiments. The contents of interleukin 1 beta(IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α), brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) in serum were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) in hippocampal CA1 region were also detected. Pathological changes in hippocampal CA1 region were detected by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining, and Western blot was used to determine the expression of nerve growth factor(NGF), BDNF, phospho-tyrosine kinase receptor(p-TrkB)/TrkB, phospho-cAMP-response element binding protein(p-CREB)/CREB, nuclear factor E2 related factor 2(Nrf2), heme oxygenase 1(HO-1), B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2)/Bcl-2 associated X protein(Bax) and caspase-3 in hippocampal CA1 region. RESULTS:: showed that compared with the control group, the model group had decreased sugar preference, reduced number of entries and time spent in the center of open field and shortened total distance of movement, reduced number of entries and proportion of time spent in open arm, and increased number and time of immobility in forced swimming experiment. Additionally, the serum contents of IL-1β and TNF-α and the expression of caspase-3 were higher, while the contents of BDNF and 5-HT, the activities of SOD and CAT in hippocampal CA1 region, the expressions of NGF, BDNF, p-TrkB/TrkB, p-CREB/CREB, HO-1 and Bcl-2/Bax, and the Nrf2 nuclear translocation were lower in model group than in control group. Compared with the conditions in model group, the sugar preference, the number of entries and time spent in the center of open, total distance of movement, and the number of entries and proportion of time spent in open arm in treatment groups were increased while the number and time of immobility in forced swimming experiment were decreased; the serum contents of IL-1β and TNF-α and the expression of caspase-3 were down regulated, while the contents of BDNF and 5-HT, the activities of SOD and CAT in hippocampal CA1 region, the expressions of NGF, BDNF, p-TrkB/TrkB, p-CREB/CREB, HO-1, Bcl-2/Bax, and Nrf2 nuclear translocation were enhanced. In conclusion, SLKX might regulate the Nrf2 nucleus translocation by activating BDNF/TrkB/CREB pathway, lower oxidative stress damage in hippocampus, inhibit caspase-3 activity, and reduce apoptosis of hippocampal nerve cells, thereby playing an antidepressant role.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to explore the carbohydrate contents of crop milk, insulin and glucose concentrations in serum and the expression patterns of AMP-activated protein kinases (AMPKs) and genes related to glucose metabolism in pigeon crops during the breeding period. Crop milk was collected from squabs of rearing Day 1 (R1) to R6. Contents of total sugar and reducing sugar increased to the maximum levels at R6 (p < 0.05). Forty-two pairs of adult pigeons were allotted to seven groups by different breeding stages, and their crops and serum were sampled. No significant differences were found in either insulin or glucose levels in serum. The glucose transporter 2 gene level was the greatest at R15 in females, whereas it was at R7 in males. However, sodium-dependent glucose transporters 1 expression in both sexes decreased from incubation Day 17 (I17) to R7. In females, glucokinase expression peaked at R1, and at R1 and R7 in males. Pyruvate kinase mRNA levels peaked at R7 in females and at R15 males. The mRNA abundance of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1 in both sexes and glucose-6-phosphatase in females decreased after I10. While phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase 1 expression decreased after I17 (p < 0.05). Protein levels of AMPKα in crops were minimized at R1 (p < 0.05). In females, expression of AMPKα1 and AMPKα2 was inhibited at I17 and R1 (p < 0.05). In males, AMPKα1 expression was decreased at R7 (p < 0.05) and AMPKα2 was reduced at I10 and R1. pAMPK expression was the lowest at I17 in females, and it was at R7 and R25 in males. Conclusively, glycolysis in pigeon crops was enhanced during chick-rearing, while gluconeogenesis was significantly inhibited. The stability of the insulin level suggests that it was probably not involved in the regulation of glucose metabolism in crop tissues.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ectopic pituitary adenoma (EPA) is defined as a special type of pituitary adenoma that originates outside of the sellar region, is extra- or intra-cranially located, and without connection to normal pituitary tissue. EPA is extremely rare, with most cases presented as case reports or small case series. Due to nonspecific symptoms and laboratory indicators, the preoperative diagnosis, treatment and management for EPA remain challenging. CASE PRESENTATION Here, we report the imaging phenotype and pathological findings of a case of invasive EPA in a 47-year-old woman. A preoperative non-contrast CT scan revealed a 5.8 × 3.6 × 3.7 cm soft tissue mass located in the sphenoid sinus and clivus. MRI showed an ill-defined solid mass with heterogeneous signals on T1-weighted and T2-weighted images. The mass displayed infiltrative growth pattern, destroying bone of the skull base, invading adjacent muscles and encasing vessels. The patient underwent partial tumor resection via transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery. Pathological examination led to diagnosis of ectopic ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma. Post-surgery, the patient received external beam radiotherapy. CONCLUSION EPA with invasive growth pattern has rarely been reported. The imaging phenotype displays its relationship to the pituitary tissue and surrounding structures. Immunohistochemical examination acts as a crucial role in differentiating EPA from other skull base tumors. This case report adds to the literature on EPA by summarizing its characteristics alongside a review of the literature.

Abstract
1. The objective of this study was to examine the keratin composition of crop milk, the variation of epithelial thickness and keratin (K) gene expression in samples from young pigeon during incubation and chick rearing.2. Crop milk was collected from 1-, 3- and 5-day-old squab crops for keratin content analysis. Results showed that K4 accounted for the highest proportion of all detected keratins.3. In total, 42 pairs of adult pigeons were allocated to seven groups according to different stages to collect crop samples. Gene expression studies showed that the K3 gene expression was maximised at rearing Day 15 (15) and R1 in males and females, respectively. K6a gene level was the greatest at R15 in females, whereas it peaked at incubation Day 4 (I4) in males. The K12, K13, K23 and K80 gene levels were inhibited at the peak period of crop milk formation in comparison with I4. In females, K cochleal expression peaked at I10, whereas it was the greatest at R25 in males. K4 and K14 gene expression was the highest at I10 in females, while K4 and K14 were minimised at I17 and R7 in males, respectively. Gene expressions of K5, K8, K19 and K20 in males and K19 in females were maximised at R1. The K5, K20 and K75 gene levels in females peaked at R7. K75 and K8 expressions in males and females reached a maximum value at R25 and I17, respectively.4. The epithelial thickness of male and female crops reached their greatest levels at R1 and had the highest correlation with K19.5. These results emphasised the importance of keratinisation in crop milk formation, and different keratins probably play various roles during this period. The K19 was probably a marker for pigeon crop epithelium development. The sex of the parent pigeon affected keratin gene expression profiles.

Abstract
Background Laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) surgery is performed to further narrow the incisions and reduce tissue injury. It has been more than10 years since the surgery was first described. However, there is still no report on the results of 10-year follow-up. This study evaluated the use of long-term oncology and the renal outcomes of LESS radical nephrectomy (LESS-RN) in the treatment of localized renal cancer. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of patients treated with LESS-RN at Changhai Hospital from 2009 to 2012. Patients with localized kidney cancer who were followed-up for at least 10 years were included in the study. The baseline data and major perioperative outcome variables were analyzed. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results A total of 48 patients were included in the study, which had a median follow-up of 11 years (interquartile range, 10.7-11.8 years). The 10-year OS and CSS rates were 87.5% [42/48; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.778-0.972] and 97.9% (47/48; 95% CI: 0.937-1.021), respectively. At the most recent follow-up, there were 5 patients with a chronic kidney disease stage ≥3. Among these 5 patients, 3 developed uremia and required continuous dialysis. Conclusions For localized renal cancer, LESS-RN is safe and effective with excellent long-term oncology controllability and good functional outcomes. Prospective studies with large sample sizes need to be conducted to validate our results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cyclosporin A is a calcineurin inhibitor which has a narrow therapeutic window and high interindividual variability. Various population pharmacokinetic models have been reported; however, professional software and technical personnel were needed and the variables of the models were limited. Therefore, the aim of this study was to establish a model based on machine learning to predict CsA trough concentrations in Chinese allo-HSCT patients. METHODS A total of 7874 cases of CsA therapeutic drug monitoring data from 2069 allo-HSCT patients were retrospectively included. Sequential forward selection was used to select variable subsets, and eight different algorithms were applied to establish the prediction model. RESULTS XGBoost exhibited the highest prediction ability. Except for the variables that were identified by previous studies, some rarely reported variables were found, such as norethindrone, WBC, PAB, and hCRP. The prediction accuracy within ±30% of the actual trough concentration was above 0.80, and the predictive ability of the models was demonstrated to be effective in external validation. CONCLUSION In this study, models based on machine learning technology were established to predict CsA levels 3-4 days in advance during the early inpatient phase after HSCT. A new perspective for CsA clinical application is provided.

Abstract
To synthetically evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of image features for differentiating benign from malignant gallbladder wall thickening disease with non-contrast MRI and establish the optimal diagnostic indicator. A total of 23 patients with wall thickening type gallbladder carcinoma and 61 patients with benign wall thickening disease were included. The diagnostic performance of six image features including the layered pattern on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) images, T2WI signal intensity, papillary growth, the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value, and the lesion to liver parenchyma ratio (LLR) of gallbladder were evaluated and compared. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and binary logistic regression analysis were used to construct the optimally combined indicator. All six indicators showed high diagnostic accuracy. The layered pattern on DWI and LLR had the highest area under the curve (AUC) value (0.904), followed by the layered pattern on T2WI (0.883), T2WI signal intensity (0.859), ADC value (0.836), and papillary growth (0.796). There was no statistically significant difference in the AUC among indicators for pairwise comparisons. A combination of layered patterns on DWI and papillary growth was shown to be the optimal indicator by binary logistic regression analysis. The AUC value of the combination (0.972) was higher than the layered pattern on DWI (0.904) and papillary growth (0.796) (P < .001). Non-contrast MRI provides several reliable indicators for differentiating benign from malignant gallbladder thickening disease. The combination of layered patterns on DWI and papillary growth is the optimal indicator.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of long-segment pedicle screw reduction and internal fixation combined with kyphoplasty in the treatment of stage Ⅲ reducible Kummell disease. Methods: The clinical data of 32 patients with stage Ⅲ reducible Kummell disease treated at the Department of Orthopedics, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University College of Medicine from January 2012 to March 2017 were analyzed retrospectively.There were 7 males and 25 females,aged (71.8±6.7)years(range:61 to 86 years).The injured segment was T10 in 1 patient,T11 in 8 patients,T12 in 13 patients,L1 in 7 patients,L2 in 2 patients and L3 in 1 patient.Preoperative American spinal injury association(ASIA) classification of patients all showed grade D.Bone mineral density (BMD),spinal X-ray,CT and MRI were examined before operation.All patients were treated with postural reduction, long-segment pedicle screw reduction and internal fixation combined with kyphoplasty.The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,length of stay and postoperative complications were recorded.The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry dysfunction index (ODI) as well as the BMD of hip were collected before and after operation.The Cobb angle of involved segment kyphosis and the height of anterior edge of diseased vertebrae were measured before operation,3 days and 12 months after operation.CT-related parameters were measured before and 3 days after operation,including sagittal anterior and posterior diameter of spinal canal,cross-sectional anterior and posterior diameter of spinal canal and cross-sectional spinal canal area.Paired sample t test and repeated measures were used to compare the data before and after operation. Results: All patients received the operation successfully.The operation time was (131.3±16.9) minutes (range:95 to 180 minutes),the blood loss was (82.5±27.1) ml (range:50 to 150 ml),and the length of stay was (8.3±2.4) days (range:5 to 14 days).All patients were followed up for more than 12 months.The VAS decreased gradually at 3 days,3 months,6 months and 12 months after operation,and the differences were statistically significant compared with the VAS before surgery (all P<0.01).ODI at 3,6 and 12 months after surgery was significantly improved compared with that before surgery(All P<0.01).The CT-related parameters at 3 days after operation were significantly higher than those before operation (All P<0.05).At 12 months after surgery,the Cobb angle decreased from (35.2±7.6) ° preoperatively to (4.3±1.7) ° (t=22.630,P<0.01),the height of anterior edge of diseased vertebrae increased from (4.3±1.0) mm preoperatively to (16.9±2.5) mm(t=-25.845,P<0.01),the bone mineral density of hip increased from -(2.2±0.6) preoperatively to -(2.8±0.6)(t=-0.040,P<0.01).Up to the last follow-up,2 patients had distal pedicle screw loosening, 1 patient had proximal junctional kyphosis,and there was no new vertebral fracture. Conclusions: Based on postural reduction,long-segment pedicle screw reduction and internal fixation combined with kyphoplasty is a safe and effective treatment method for stage Ⅲ reducible Kummell disease,which can reconstruct the stability of the diseased vertebrae.Postoperative standard anti-osteoporosis treatment is the basis to ensure the efficacy.

Abstract
The limited treatment options for advanced prostate cancer (PCa) lead to the urgent need to discover new anticancer drugs. Mannose, an isomer of glucose, has been reported to have an anticancer effect on various tumors. However, the anticancer effect of mannose in PCa remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that mannose inhibits the proliferation and promotes the apoptosis of PCa cells in vitro, and mannose was observed to have an anticancer effect in mice without harming their health. Accumulation of intracellular mannose simultaneously decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential, increased mitochondrial and cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and reduced adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in PCa cells. Mannose treatment of PCa cells induced changes in mitochondrial morphology, caused dysregulated expression of the fission protein, such as fission, mitochondrial 1 (FIS1), and enhanced the expression of proapoptotic factors, such as BCL2-associated X (Bax) and BCL2-antagonist/killer 1 (Bak). Furthermore, lower expression of mannose phosphate isomerase (MPI), the key enzyme in mannose metabolism, indicated poorer prognosis in PCa patients, and downregulation of MPI expression in PCa cells enhanced the anticancer effect of mannose. This study reveals the anticancer effect of mannose in PCa and its clinical significance in PCa patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a lack of data on drug-related problems (DRPs) occurring in nephrology department in China. The objective of this study was to identify and categorize the types and causes of DRPs and to assess their severity. DRPs were examined by clinical pharmacists and the results of their interventions were rated. METHODS Clinical pharmacists reviewed all medication orders for patients and documented clinical pharmacy services within a nine-month study period. The Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) classification (Version 9.00) was used to identify DRPs. Our Primary outcomes measured the number, causes, types, potential hazards of DRPs and the types and success rate of intervention. RESULTS Admission medication reconciliation data of 113 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) were collected and all of the medications were reviewed retrospectively. Exclude 26 patients who did not occurred DRPs, 87 patients (77%) identified 101 DRPs. The average DRP number per patient was 1.16. The most common type of problem was "treatment effectiveness P1" (84.16%; 85/101). The most common causes were "drug selection C1" (36.00%; 45/125), "dose selection C3" (29.60%; 37/125), and "patient related C7" (26.40%; 33/125). Clinical pharmacists totally proposed 249 interventions, of which 190 (76.31%) were fully accepted and implemented. CONCLUSIONS DRPs are common among CKD patients in the nephrology department. Hence the necessity for pharmaceutical care to be improved to ensure the ongoing safety of patients.

Abstract
The current study investigated whether the expression of apoptosis genes in the pigeon crops was affected by the Akt signaling pathway during crop milk formation. First, 78 pairs of adult White King pigeons were randomly assigned to 7 groups, and the expression of apoptosis-related genes and Akt signaling pathway-related proteins in the crop tissues during different breeding stages were examined. The results showed that the mRNA levels of Bak, caspase-3, caspase-6, and caspase-9 in female crops all increased and reached their highest levels at d 17 of incubation (I17). In male crops, the levels of caspase-3 and caspase-9 gene expression peaked at d 1 of chick rearing (R1). The lowest level of Bcl-2 gene expression in females was observed at I17. The expression ratios of p-Akt (Ser473)/Akt and p-Akt (Thr308)/Akt in male crops decreased to their minimum at R1, while it was observed at d 7 of chick rearing (R7) in females. Second, 36 pairs of adult pigeons were divided into 3 groups and were subjected to SC79 injections with dosages of 0, 0.02, or 0.04 mg/kg bodyweight. The SC79 injections resulted in a considerable decrease in growth performance of pigeon squabs. In male crops, the expression ratios of p-Akt (Ser473)/Akt and p-Akt (Thr308)/Akt were significantly elevated in the 0.02 mg/kg SC79 group, while in female crops, they were higher in the 0.04 mg/kg SC79 group (P < 0.05). The SC79 injection inhibited the gene expression of Bak in female crops, but enhanced the gene expression of Bcl-2 in both male and female crops. In the 0.04 mg/kg SC79 group, a 50.7 to 75.7% decrease was observed in the expression of caspase-3, caspase-6, and caspase-9 in male and female pigeon crops. Expression of the caspase-8 gene and total Akt protein in pigeon crops was not changed in different breeding stages or after SC79 injection. In conclusion, the expression of genes related to mitochondria-dependent apoptosis can be regulated by the Akt signaling pathway, which may play a potential role in pigeon milk formation.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to use the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR‑associated (Cas) 9‑mediated gene knockout technology for the rapid classification of the differential function of micro (mi)RNAs screened using miRNA expression profiling by microarray. The rational design of single guide RNAs for the CRISPR/Cas9 system was verified to function in human LNCaP cells with rapid and efficient target gene editing. miRNA (miR)‑205, miR‑221, miR‑222, miR‑30c, miR‑224, miR‑455‑3p, miR‑23b and miR‑505 were downregulated in patients with prostate cancer (PCa) and were experimentally validated to function as tumor suppressors in prostate cancer cells, affecting tumor proliferation, invasion and aerobic glycolysis. In addition, the data of the present study suggested that miR‑663a and mfiR‑1225‑5p were upregulated in prostate cancer tissues and cell proliferation of miR‑663a and miR‑1225‑5p knockout PCa cells was significantly lower compared with miR‑NC cells. Furthermore, knockout of miR‑1225‑5p and miR‑663a significantly decreased the lactate production in LNCaP cells in vitro. In conclusion, the present study offered a simple and efficient method for rapidly classifying miRNA function by applying CRISPR/Cas9 in LNCaP cells. The present study suggested, for the first time to the best of the authors' knowledge, that the aberrant expression of miR‑663a and miR‑1225‑5p may be involved with the progression of prostate cancer, implying their potential as candidate markers for this type of cancer. However, the precise role of miR‑663a and miR‑1225‑5p in accelerating the development of prostate cancer and promoting tumor progression remains to be elucidated.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) are widely distributing in aquatic environment. They are easily ingested by aquatic organisms and accumulate in digestive tract especially of intestine. To explore the potential effects of MPs on intestine, here we, using juvenile guppy (Poecilia reticulata) as experimental animal, investigated the response characteristics of digestion, immunity and gut microbiota. After exposure to 100 and 1000 μg/L concentrations of MPs (polystyrene; 32-40 μm diameters) for 28 days, we observed that MPs could exist in guppy gut and induce enlargement of goblet cells. Activities of digestive enzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin, amylase and lipase) in guppy gut generally reduced. MPs stimulated the expression of immune cytokines (TNF-α, IFN-γ, TLR4 and IL-6). Through high throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene, decreases in diversity and evenness and changed composition of microbiota were found in guppy gut. PICRUSt analysis revealed that MPs might have effects on intestinal microbiota functions, such as inhibition of metabolism and repair pathway. Our findings suggested that MPs could retain in the gut of juvenile guppy, impair digestive performance, stimulate immune response and induce microbiota dysbiosis in guppy gut. The results obtained here provide new insights into the potential risks of MPs to aquatic animals.

Abstract
The present study investigated the changes in morphology, enzyme activities in the pancreas and mucosa, and nutrient transporter gene expression in the duodenum and jejunum in male and female pigeons during the incubation and chick-rearing periods. Forty-two pairs of White King pigeons with 2 fertile eggs per pair were randomly divided into 7 groups by different breeding stages. The crypt depth of the duodenum and jejunum reached the peak at day 1 (R1) and day 7 (R7) of chick rearing, respectively. The jejunum surface area increased to a maximum value at R1. Amylase activity in the pancreas decreased to the lowest value at R1, whereas trypsin and lipase activities peaked at 17 D of incubation (I17) and R7, respectively. In male pigeons, mucosal Na+-K+-ATPase activity in the duodenum and jejunum was the highest at R15 and it was at I17 in female pigeons. Jejunum sucrose activity in female pigeons was higher at I4 than that at I17 (P < 0.05). The gene expression of FAT/CD36 and I-FABP in the duodenum gradually increased and then declined in the late chick-rearing period. SGLT1 in the jejunum decreased to a lower level at I17 and R25 in male pigeons (P < 0.05). GLUT2 expression in female duodenum and male jejunum decreased to a lower value at I17 compared with that at R15 (P < 0.05). In the late of incubation (from I10 to I17), expression of duodenum CAT1, B0AT1, and PepT1 and jejunum CAT1, ASCT1, and PepT1 in female pigeons was significantly reduced (P < 0.05), whereas opposite results were found in male jejunum CAT1 and duodenum ASCT1. In conclusion, variations of intestinal morphology, activities of pancreatic and mucosal enzymes, and gene expression of nutrient transporters during incubation and chick-rearing periods, underlying potential changes of digestive and absorptive function and intestinal adaptation with sexual effects, may represent a complicated response to stimuli of different breeding stages.

Abstract
The rising atmospheric CO2 concentration affects spikelets development, grain filling process, and rice quality. However, it is unclear that whether such effects are related to grain positions on rice panicle. By using a rice FACE (Free-Air CO2 Enrichment) platform, we grew a japoni-ca rice cultivar Wuyunjing 23, characterized with high yield and good quality, under ambient (Ambient) and elevated CO2 concentrations (+200 μmol·mol-1, FACE). The effects of increased CO2 concentration on spikelet density, grain filling capacity, the appearance and eating quality of rice grains were examined and the association of such effects with grain positions on rice panicle were investigated. The results showed that CO2 enrichment increased grain yield of Wuyunjing 23 by 18.3%. The panicle number per unit land area and filled-grain weight increased by 21.4% and 9.4%, respectively; whereas the number of spikelets per panicle and filled-grain percentage decreased by 9.0% and 2.2%, respectively. The decreased filled-grain percentage of rice grown under FACE treatment was mainly related to the increases of empty-grain percentage in all parts of rice panicle. The decrease of rice spikelets number per panicle by FACE treatment was mainly due to the substantial decrease of surviving spikelets of secondary branches in upper and middle parts of rice panicles instead of other positions. The CO2-induced changes of filled-grain weight and filled-grain percentage were similar among grains located at different positions on rice panicle. FACE treatment reduced the green grain rate and increased the grain length and width, with the grains at different positions on rice papnicle showing similar responses. FACE significantly increased chalky grain percentage by 59% and chalkiness degree by 55%, with the increases for both parameters following the order of primary branches>secondary branches and upper part>middle part>lower part. FACE treatment slightly increased amylose content while decreased peak viscosity, hot viscosity, breakdown, final viscosity and setback, but most of these effects were nonsignificant. The gelatinization temperature of rice also reduced by 5% under FACE, and the decrease of inferior spikelets was greater than that of superior spikelets. In summary, the yield increase of Wuyunjing 23 under high CO2 concentration was mainly related to the increases of panicle number and individual grain weight, while the panicle size was reduced. Elevated CO2 concentration reduced green grain percentage but increased grain chalkiness, and had little effect on cooking and eating quality. The grain positions on rice panicle affected the responses of spikelets development, grain filling capacity and grain quality of rice to elevated CO2 concentration, but the effects varied across different indices.

Abstract
Increasing CO2 levels are speculated to change the effects of engineered nanomaterials in soil and on plant growth. How plants will respond to a combination of elevated CO2 and nanomaterials stress has rarely been investigated, and the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we conducted a field experiment to investigate the rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. IIyou) response to TiO2 nanoparticles (nano-TiO2, 0 and 200 mg kg-1) using a free-air CO2 enrichment system with different CO2 levels (ambient ∼370 μmol mol-1 and elevated ∼570 μmol mol-1). The results showed that elevated CO2 or nano-TiO2 alone did not significantly affect rice chlorophyll content and antioxidant enzyme activities. However, in the presence of nano-TiO2, elevated CO2 significantly enhanced the rice height, shoot biomass, and panicle biomass (by 9.4%, 12.8%, and 15.8%, respectively). Furthermore, the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis revealed that genes involved in photosynthesis were up-regulated while most genes associated with secondary metabolite biosynthesis were down-regulated in combination-treated rice. This indicated that elevated CO2 and nano-TiO2 might stimulate rice growth by adjusting resource allocation between photosynthesis and metabolism. This study provides novel insights into rice responses to increasing contamination under climate change.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Increased body mass index (BMI) is a well-established risk factor for cardiovascular disease, however, patients with elevated BMI comparing to low BMI seem to have better survival, a phenomenon reported as “obesity paradox” which remains as a controversy. We investigated the effect of BMI, including underweight, normoweight, overweight and obese, on cardiac mortality post acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods
This analysis included 3562 AMI patients with documented BMI. The baseline characteristics including clinical and laboratory parameters were collected at hospital admission for AMI. Patients were classified into 4 groups based on BMI values: underweight (BMI <18.5), normoweight (BMI 18.5 to 24.9), overweight (BMI 25 to 29.9) and obese (BMI ≥30). Patients were followed up for a median of 1.9 years. The rate of cardiac death (primary endpoint) was compared among the 4 BMI groups. Cox proportional hazard models were used to adjust for potential confounders.
Results
Of 3562, 110 (3%) were underweight, 1579 (44%) were normoweight, 1493 (42%) were overweight, and 380 (11%) were obese. Compared to the normoweight group, subjects in overweight and obese groups were younger, more men, more hypertension, more likely to receive percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and had higher levels of glucose and lipids, but, lower level of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP). Subjects in underweight group were older, more women, fewer diabetes, less likely to receive PCI, lower levels of glucose and lipids, but, higher level of NTproBNP and higher rates of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)<50%. Cardiac death over 1.9 years occurred significantly more in the underweight group (30.0%, 10.6%, 7.0% and 5.0% among the 4 groups from underweight to obese, p<0.001 for trend, Figure 1). The Cox proportional hazard model revealed that underweight was an independent predictor of subsequent cardiac death (OR=2.58, 95% CI: 1.52–4.39, p<0.001). Multivariate analysis identified that older age, higher levels of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and LVEF<50% were independently associated with increased risk of cardiac death. PCI significantly and independently protected AMI patients against cardiac death (OR=0.34, 95% CI: 0.23–0.49, p<0.001).
Conclusions
Patients who were underweight were at greater risk of cardiac death post AMI. In addition, older age, higher levels of cTnI, LVEF<50%, and not receiving PCI also independently predicted cardiac mortality post AMI.

Abstract
Free-air O3 enrichment was used to investigate the responses of different antioxidant mechanisms in different rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars - O3-sensitive hybrid indica (O3-S) cultivars and O3-tolerant conventional japonica (O3-T) cultivars across all growth stages. Elevated [O3] induced increases in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in O3-S cultivars, which were more pronounced in the later growing stages. In O3-S cultivars, continuous O3 stress decreased catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activities, while in O3-T cultivars, short-term O3 stress decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD), CAT, POD and GPX activities. The same POD isozyme patterns were observed in both O3-S and O3-T cultivars, while SOD and APX isozymes varied by cultivar. The results suggest that O3 tolerance might be improved at different rice development stages through regulating the responses of antioxidant mechanisms to O3 stress.

Abstract
Background Previous studies have demonstrated that the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling axis is involved in the regulation of neuropathic pain (NP). Here, we performed experiments to test whether the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway contributes to the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain after spinal nerve ligation (SNL) via central sensitization mechanisms. Methods Neuropathic pain was induced and assessed in a SNL rat model. The expression and distribution of CXCL12 or CXCR4 were examined by immunofluorescence staining and western blot. The effects of CXCL12 rat peptide, CXCL12 neutralizing antibody, CXCR4 antagonist, and astrocyte metabolic inhibitor on pain hypersensitivity were explored by behavioral tests in naive or SNL rats. We measured the expression level of c‐Fos and CGRP to evaluate the sensitization of neurons by RT‐PCR. The activation of astrocyte and microglia was analyzed by measuring the level of GFAP and iba‐1. The mRNA levels of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines such as TNF‐α, IL‐1β, and IL‐6 and Connexin 30, Connexin 43, EAAT 1, EAAT 2 were also detected by RT‐PCR. Results First, we found that the expression of CXCL12 and CXCR4 was upregulated after SNL. CXCL12 was mainly expressed in the neurons while CXCR4 was expressed both in astrocytes and neurons in the spinal dorsal horn after SNL. Moreover, intrathecal administration of rat peptide, CXCL12, induced hypersensitivity in naive rats, which was partly reversed by fluorocitrate. In addition, the CXCL12 rat peptide increased mRNA levels of c‐Fos, GFAP, and iba‐1. A single intrathecal injection of CXCL12 neutralizing antibody transiently reversed neuropathic pain in the SNL rat model. Consecutive use of CXCL12 neutralizing antibody led to significant delay in the induction of neuropathic pain, and reduced the expression of GFAP and iba‐1 in the spinal dorsal horn. Finally, repeated intrathecal administration of the CXCR4 antagonist, AMD3100, significantly suppressed the initiation and duration of neuropathic pain. The mRNA levels of c‐Fos, CGRP, GFAP, iba‐1, and pro‐inflammatory cytokines, also including Connexin 30 and Connexin 43 were decreased after injection of AMD3100, while EAAT 1 and EAAT 2 mRNAs were increased. Conclusion We demonstrate that the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway contributes to the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain via central sensitization mechanisms. Importantly, intervening with CXCL12/CXCR4 presents an effective therapeutic approach to treat the neuropathic pain.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) on proliferation and autophagy in prostatic epithelial cells. Methods: Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8) assay was used to observe the growth of BPH-1 and RWPE-1 cells after treating with or not with estradiol or GPER selective agonist G1. Autophagy was quantified with Western blot and Cyto-ID autophagy detection kit after treating with estradiol, G1 or both G1 and G15 in the same cells. Results: The OD value in estrogen group and G1 group was significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.01). Compared with control group, Western blot and Cyto-ID green reagent staining revealed that the ratio of LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰ and the relative fluorescence intensity of BPH-1 and RWPE-1 cells were decreased in G1 group and estradiol group (P<0.01). Pretreatment with G15 reversed the effect of G1 (P<0.05). Conclusion: The activation of GPER leads to the inhibition of autophagy and cell proliferation.

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the value of the ABCD score combined with the position of the offending vessel stenosis in predicting the risk of transient ischemic attack (TIA) to develop into cerebral infarction.The ABCD score and head magnetic resonance imaging + magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) results of 192 patients with TIA were retrospectively analyzed. With the 7th day as the endpoint time, these patients were divided into 3 groups, according to ABCD scores: low-risk group (n = 105), moderate-risk group (n = 60), and high-risk group (n = 27). Blood vessels were screened using head MRA results, and patients were accordingly divided into 2 groups: proximal vascular stenosis group (n = 71) and nonproximal vascular stenosis group (n = 171). Then, the association of the position of the intracranial vascular stenosis and ABCD score with short-term prognosis was analyzed.Based on the ABCD score, the incidence of cerebral infarction after 1 week was significantly higher in the high-risk group (85.7%) than in the moderate-risk group (16.7%) and low-risk group (1.9%), and the differences were statistically significant (P < .05). When the ABCD score was ≥4 points, the incidence of cerebral infarction after 1 week was significantly higher in the proximal vascular stenosis group (59.1%) than in the nonproximal vascular stenosis group (30.8%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < .05). When the ABCD score was <4 points, the incidence of cerebral infarction after 1 week in the proximal stenosis group (2%) was not significantly different from that in the nonproximal stenosis group (1.9%, P > .05).The ABCD score combined with proximal offending vessel stenosis can improve the short-term prediction of cerebral infarction in patients with TIA.

Abstract
Varicella zoster virus (VZV) can invade the brainstem or brain via the glossopharyngeal, vagus , or facial nerve, resulting in brainstem inflammation or encephalitis. We report the case of a 66-year-old male patient with a primary manifestation of medulla injury of the glossopharyngeal and vagus nerves, combined with a medulla lesion, who was misdiagnosed with lateral medullary syndrome. Facial nerve injury and earache subsequently occurred and human herpes virus 3 (VZV) was detected by second-generation sequencing of the cerebrospinal fluid. The final diagnosis was varicella zoster encephalitis, which improved after antiviral therapy.

Abstract
The radiochromic film (RCF) is a high-dose, high-dynamic range dosimetry detection medium. A stack of RCFs can be used to detect both spatial and energetic distribution of laser driven ion beams with a large divergence angle and continuous energy spectrum. Two types of RCFs (HD-V2 and MD-V3, from Radiation Products Design, Inc.) have been calibrated using MeV energy protons and carbon ions produced by using a 2 × 6 MV tandem electrostatic accelerator. The proportional relationship is obtained between the optical density and the irradiation dose. For protons, the responses are consistent at all energies with a variation of about 15%. For carbon ions, the responses are energy related, which should be noted for heavy ion detection. Based on the calibration, the broad energy spectrum and charge distribution of laser accelerated proton beam with energy from 3 to 8 MeV and pC charge were detected and reconstructed at the Compact LAser Plasma Accelerator at Peking University.

Abstract
We report the experimental generation of highly energetic carbon ions up to 48 MeV per nucleon by shooting double-layer targets composed of well-controlled slightly underdense plasma and ultrathin foils with ultraintense femtosecond laser pulses. Particle-in-cell simulations reveal that carbon ions are ejected from the ultrathin foils due to radiation pressure and then accelerated in an enhanced sheath field established by the superponderomotive electron flow. Such a cascaded acceleration is especially suited for heavy ion acceleration with femtosecond laser pulses. The breakthrough of heavy ion energy up to many tens of MeV/u at a high repetition rate would be able to trigger significant advances in nuclear physics, high energy density physics, and medical physics.

Abstract
Although dCTP pyrophosphatase 1 (DCTPP1) has been reported to be associated with poor clinical outcomes in various cancers, whether it plays an important role in prostate cancer (PCa) remains unclear. In this study, an immunohistochemical assay showed the protein expression level of DCTPP1 was significantly higher in PCa tissues than in non-cancerous tissues. Moreover, DCTPP1 was upregulated at both protein and mRNA levels in the PCa tissues from high Gleason score patients versus low Gleason score patients. The analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas RNA-seq data suggested that upregulation of DCTPP1 was inversely correlated with biochemical recurrence free survival and overall survival. The roles of DCTPP1 in tumor progression and autophagy were further validated through cells invasion, migration, apoptosis and proliferation assays in vitro, as well as EMT and autophagy assays in vivo. Advanced bioinformatics analysis identified the evidence supporting the promotional role of DCTPP1 in tumor progression associated with autophagy. We conclude that DCTPP1 may play an important role in PCa progression associated with high autophagy. Overexpression of DCTPP1 may server as a biomarker for predicting poor BCR-free survival and overall survival for PCa patients.

Abstract
Several studies have implicated estrogen and the estrogen receptor (ER) in the pathogenesis of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH); however, the mechanism underlying this effect remains elusive. In the present study, we demonstrated that estrogen (17β-estradiol, or E2)-induced activation of the G protein-coupled receptor 30 (GPR30) triggered Ca2+ release from the endoplasmic reticulum, increased the mitochondrial Ca2+ concentration, and thus induced prostate epithelial cell (PEC) apoptosis. Both E2 and the GPR30-specific agonist G1 induced a transient intracellular Ca2+ release in PECs via the phospholipase C (PLC)-inositol 1, 4, 5-triphosphate (IP3) pathway, and this was abolished by treatment with the GPR30 antagonist G15. The release of cytochrome c and activation of caspase-3 in response to GPR30 activation were observed. Data generated from the analysis of animal models and human clinical samples indicate that treatment with the GPR30 agonist relieves testosterone propionate (TP)-induced prostatic epithelial hyperplasia, and that the abundance of GPR30 is negatively associated with prostate volume. On the basis of these results, we propose a novel regulatory mechanism whereby estrogen induces the apoptosis of PECs via GPR30 activation. Inhibition of this activation is predicted to lead to abnormal PEC accumulation, and to thereby contribute to BPH pathogenesis.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the advantages and disadvantages of radiofrequency ablation of left-sided accessory pathways by via atrial septal approach with retrograde through aortic approach. Methods: A total of 184 patients of left-side accessory pathways were treated in Taizhou People's Hospital and the Subei People's Hospital from March 2012 to August 2015.A total of 103 cases were treated by aortic retrograde approach as through arterial group, 81 cases were treated by punctured atrial septal to left atrial for mapping and ablation as through atrial septal group.Comparison of ablation procedure time, total and pathways of different parts(subgroup) at instant success and relapse rates, safety (serious complications), and statistics other complications in operation and postoperative. Results: Through arterial group and through atrial septal group were no significant difference (P>0.05) in the ablation procedure time((25±18 ) vs (22±15)min ), instant success(98.1% vs 97.5%) and relapse rates(1.0% vs 1.2%), security(1 vs 0 case). There was no statistical difference in septal part subgroups (all P>0.05) in the ablation procedure time((22±18)vs (25±19)min), instant success(91.7% vs 89.9 %) and relapse rates(0 vs 11.1%); posterior wall subgroup had no statistical difference in the ablation procedure time((18±15)vs (16±12)min), instant success(100% vs 100 %) and relapse rates(0 vs 0)(all P>0.05); side wall subgroup had no statistical difference in the ablation procedure time((29±20)vs (21±18) min), instant success (98.3% vs 98.1%)and relapse rates(1.7% vs 0%)(all P>0.05). Conclusion: Ablation of left-sided accessory pathways by transseptal approach and transaortic approach has no statistical difference in the procedure time, instant success and relapse rates, security.In a particular case, there is a certain complementarity between the two methods.

Abstract
Several observational studies on the association between Cd exposure and risk of prostate cancer have yielded inconsistent results. To address this issue, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the correlation between Cd exposure and risk of prostate cancer.Relevant studies in PubMed and Embase databases were retrieved until October 2015. We compared the highest and lowest meta-analyses to quantitatively evaluate the relationship between Cd exposure and risk of prostate cancer. Summary estimates were obtained using a random-effects model.In the general population, high Cd exposure was not associated with increased prostate cancer (OR 1.21; 95% CI 0.91-1.64), whereas the combined standardized mortality ratio of the association between Cd exposure and risk of prostate cancer was 1.66 (95% CI 1.10-2.50) in populations exposed to occupational Cd. In addition, high D-Cd intake (OR 1.07; 95% CI 0.96-1.20) and U-Cd concentration (OR 0.86; 95% CI 0.48-1.55) among the general population was not related to the increased risk of prostate cancer. In the dose analysis, the summary relative risk was 1.07 (95% CI 0.73-1.57) for each 0.5 μg/g creatinine increase in U-Cd and 1.02 (95% CI 0.99-1.06) for each 10 μg/day increase of dietary Cd intake. However, compared with nonoccupational exposure, high occupational Cd exposure may be associated with the increased risk of prostate cancer.This meta-analysis suggests high Cd exposure as a risk factor for prostate cancer in occupational rather than nonoccupational populations. However, these results should be carefully interpreted because of the significant heterogeneity among studies. Additional large-scale and high-quality prospective studies are needed to confirm the association between Cd exposure and risk of prostate cancer.

Abstract
FUT1 and TAP1 have been identified as candidate genes that offer resistance against Escherichia coli F18 infection, with the AA genotype in FUT1 and the GG genotype in TAP1 conferring resistance. In order to confirm polymorphisms at FUT1 M307 and TAP1 G729, and evaluate their influence on immunity performance in Pudong White pigs, we performed polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, measured immune indices, and compared the results with those observed in Large White pigs. The AA genotype of FUT1 was first discovered in Pudong White pigs and has not been found in other Chinese domestic pig breeds. The frequency of the AA genotype in Pudong White and Large White pigs was 0.018 and 0.052, respectively. The GG genotype of TAP1 was also detected in the two breeds, with a frequency of 0.708 and 0.695, respectively. Chi-square fitness analysis of both genes showed that these loci deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in the two breeds (P < 0.05). No significant differences were observed in interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-10 levels among the three genotypes at FUT1 and TAP1 in the two breeds (P > 0.05). Individuals for all genotypes of TAP1 in both pig breeds had similar TNF-α levels (P > 0.05), implying that Pudong White pigs may have the same ability for hepatocyte inflammatory response and B cell differentiation as Large White pigs. These differences have a degree of influence on Pudong White pig's immune ability to resist F18 or other infections.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The best approach for cholecystocholedocholithiasis remains a matter of debate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the technical aspects, learning curve and outcome of laparoscopic transcystic common bile duct exploration (LTCBDE). METHODS Patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy with LTCBDE between January 2007 and December 2012 were identified from an institutional database. Data on preoperative investigations, intraoperative and postoperative findings were retrieved retrospectively from the patients' hospital notes. RESULTS There were 399 women (56·4 per cent) and 309 men (43·6 per cent), with a median age of 58 (range 18-87) years. Microincision (incision of the cystic duct at the confluence with the common bile duct (CBD) with extension of only 3-5 mm at the lateral margin of the CBD) and lithotripsy were used in the transcystic exploration in 119 patients, and increased the success rate of LTCBDE from 74·2 to 91·0 per cent. The median duration of operation was 85 (i.q.r. 65-120) min and the median postoperative hospital stay was 2 (1-3) days. Retained common bile duct stones were observed in 13 patients, and postoperative complications developed in 27 patients. The cumulative sum duration of operation learning curve comprised two phases; phase 1 included the first 250 patients and phase 2 the remaining 458 patients. Duration of operation and postoperative hospital stay decreased with increasing volume per surgeon. Recurrence of common bile duct stones was diagnosed in 26 patients during a median follow-up of 4 years. CONCLUSION LTCBDE with or without microincision and/or lithotripsy is a safe and effective approach.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs that are involved in key biological processes, including development, differentiation, and regeneration. The global miRNA expression profile that regulates the regenerative potential of the neonatal mouse heart has not been reported. We performed deep sequencing to determine the genome-wide miRNA expression profile of the neonatal mouse heart at three key ages (1, 6, and 7 days). The miRNAs at least 1.4-fold differentially expressed between the three time points were selected for further analysis. Two miRNAs (mmu-miR-22-5p and mmu-miR-338-3p) were significantly upregulated, and nine miRNAs (mmu-miR-324-5p, mmu-miR-337-5p, mmu-miR-339-5p, mmu-miR-365-1-5p, mmu-miR-500-3p, mmu-miR-505-5p, mmu-miR-542-5p, mmu-miR-668-3p, and mmu-miR-92a-1-5p) were significantly downregulated in cardiac tissue of 7-day-old mice compared to 1- and 6-day-old mice. The expression patterns of five significantly different miRNAs were verified by quantitative real-time PCR. Furthermore, the potential targets of these putative miRNAs were suggested using miRNA target prediction tools. The candidate target genes are involved in the myocardial regenerative process, with a prominent role for the Notch signaling pathway. Our study provides a valuable resource for future investigation of the biological function of miRNAs in heart regeneration.

Abstract
The present study investigates the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on urinary bladder pressure (UBP) in patients with acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI). Twenty patients with AGI admitted to the First Hospital of Jiaxing intensive care unit from December 2011 to June 2013 were evaluated. Conventional group patients (n = 10) were administered moderate enteral nutritional support, and electroacupuncture group patients (n = 10) were administered enteral nutritional support followed by EA at bilateral Zusanli (ST-36), Shangjuxu (ST-37), Hegu (LI-4), and QuChi (LI-11) acupoints. UBP was then measured every 6 h and the serum creatinine once daily for 7 days. There were no statistically significant patient demographic differences in the study groups (P > 0.05). The initial UBP of both patient groups was ≥12 mmHg. On days 6 and 7, the UBP significantly decreased in the EA group compared to the conventional group (P < 0.05). The serum creatinine concentration on day 7 was significantly lower in the EA group than in the conventional group (P < 0.05). Based on these results, electroacupuncture contributed to gastrointestinal motility recovery in patients with AGI. This procedure may reduce UBP and provide organ-protective effects in AGI patients.

Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the distribution and photodynamic therapeutic effect of chlorin e6 (Ce6) in the human tongue squamous cell carcinoma Tca8113 cell line in vitro. The distribution of Ce6 in the Tca8113 cells was observed in situ combined with mitochondrial and lysosomal fluorescent probes. Next, 630-nm semiconductor laser irradiation was performed. The MTS colorimetric method was used to determine cell survival. Annexin V fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide (PI) double staining was used to detect early apoptosis following photodynamic therapy (PDT). The flow cytometer was used to analyze the DNA content subsequent to PI-staining. It was observed that Ce6 could combine with the cellular membrane following 30 min of incubation with the Tca8113 cells. As the length of incubation increased, Ce6 gradually entered the cells in a particular distribution and reached saturation by 3 h. Co-localization analysis demonstrated that Ce6 was more likely to be present in the mitochondria than in the lysosomes. The cells incubated with 5 μg/ml Ce6 for 24 h exhibited a low toxicity of 5%, however, following light irradiation, Ce6-PDT was able to kill the Tca8113 cells in vitro. The cell toxicity was positively correlated with Ce6 concentration and light dose, therefore, the effect of Ce6 was concentration/dose-dependent (P<0.01). The lower Ce6 concentrations and light doses could significantly induce apoptosis in the Tca8113 cells, while higher doses increased necrosis/percentage of dead cells. In summary, Ce6 saturated the Tca8113 cells following 3 h of incubation. Furthermore, Ce6-PDT effectively killed the cultured Tca8113 cells in vitro at a safe concentration. At a low concentration and light dose, Ce6 is more likely to induce cell apoptosis via the mitochondria than the lysosomes.

Abstract
Effects of elevated ozone concentrations [O3] on two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars [Yangmai16 (Y16) and Yannong19 (Y19)] were investigated to determine the different metabolic mechanisms of phenolic compounds under O3-FACE (free-air controlled enrichment) condition. This study specifically investigated changes of phenolic compounds content, secondary metabolism related enzymes activities, lipid peroxidation extent and reactive oxygen species (ROS) content in the leaves of two wheat cultivars. Results indicated that elevated [O3] (1.5 × ambient [O3]) induced different regulation mechanisms of secondary metabolism in different wheat cultivars. Lipid peroxidation and ROS content increased under O3 stress, and these results were more pronounced in the leaves of Y19 than in those of Y16, suggesting that Y19 is more sensitive to O3 than Y16.

Abstract
By using FACE (Free-Air Controlled Environment)-ozone system, a field plot experiment was conducted in 2008-2009 to study the effects of elevated ozone (O3) concentration on the flag leaf microscopic structure, chlorophyll content, and grain weight of wheat. Two treatments were installed, i. e., ambient O3 and 150% of ambient O3, and four winter varieties, i. e., Yannong 19, Yangmai 16, Jiaxin 002, and Yangfumai 2, were taken as the test materials. At anthesis, elevated O3 concentration had a slight damage to the flag leaf microscopic structure. The mesophyll cell and chloroplast structure began destroying, and the grana lamellae started breaking and loosing. Twenty-one days after anthesis, the differences in the leaf microscopic structure between the two treatments became significant. Under elevated O3, the flag leaf senescence was accelerated, with the endomembrane system disintegrated, grana lamella disappeared, and corpus adiposum inside chloroplast broken down, resulting in a significant decrease of the chlorophyll content, photosynthesis rate, and grain weight at maturing stage. Significant difference was observed among the test varieties in their responses to elevated O3. Jiaxin 002 was tolerant, while Yangfumai 2 was sensitive to the ozone stress.

Abstract
Hedgehog (Hh) pathway has been implicated in the tumorigenesis of a large number of human tumors. But its effects on the progression and prognosis of bladder cancer remain poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate expression patterns of Hh pathway components in bladder cancer and to elucidate their prognostic values in this tumor. The expression of sonic hedgehog (Shh), its receptor Patched (Ptch1), and downstream transcription factor Gli1 in 118 specimens of bladder cancer and 30 specimens of adjacent normal bladder tissue was determined by immunohistochemistry. Statistical analyses were applied to test the relationship between the expression of these three proteins and clinicopathologic features and prognosis. Immunohistochemical staining results showed the localizations of Shh and Ptch1 proteins to be mainly located in the cytoplasm of bladder cancer cells, whereas Gli1 was mainly localized in the nuclear of tumor cells. Additionally, positive expression of Shh, Ptch1 and Gli1 proteins was correlated with pathological stage (P = 0.006, 0.006 and 0.008, respectively), venous invasion (P = 0.01, 0.01 and 0.012, respectively) and lymph node metastasis (P = 0.009, 0.01 and 0.013, respectively), but not with other factors including age, gender, tumor grade and recurrence of superficial cancer. Moreover, patients with positive expression of Shh, Ptch1 and Gli1 proteins respectively showed poorer disease-free (P = 0.002, 0.002 and 0.001, respectively) and overall survival (all P < 0.001) than those with negative expression of these three proteins. Univariate and multivariate analysis of prognostic factors in bladder cancer patients indicated that the expression patterns of Shh, Ptch1 and Gli1 proteins were independent unfavorable prognostic factors (all P < 0.001). This is the first report describing about the correlation between Hh pathway and the prognosis of bladder cancer. Expression of Shh, Ptch1 and Gli1 proteins was greater in bladder cancers than in the adjacent normal tissues. The examination of their expression is potentially valuable in prognostic evaluation of bladder cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the expressions of aquaporins (AQPs) in the mouse prostatic tissue and their significance, and to provide some evidence for a deeper insight into the physiological function and regulation of AQP expressions in normal and diseased prostatic tissues. METHODS The mRNA expressions of AQP0 - 4 in the mouse prostatic tissue were determined by RT-PCR, and the expressions and localizations of AQP1 and AQP3 proteins were characterized by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS RT-PCR exhibited the mRNA expressions of AQP1 and AQP3, but not those of AQP0, AQP2 and AQP4 in the prostate tissue, while Western blot showed the expression of the AQP1 protein with the relative molecular mass (RMM) of 28 000 and those of the glycosylated and non-glycosylated AQP3 proteins with the RMM of 35 000 and 27 000, respectively. Immunohistochemistry indicated the strong expression of AQP1 in the cyst and plasma membrane of the secretary cells and that of AQP3 in the stroma cells of the prostate. CONCLUSION The AQP1 and AQP3 genes were expressed in the secretary epithelia of the mouse prostate tissue, which suggests that AQP1 and AQP3 may play an important role in the secretion of prostatic fluid.

Abstract
AIM The piezoelectric properties and cytotoxicity of a porous lead-free piezoelectric ceramic for use as a direct bone substitute were investigated. METHODOLOGY Cold isostatic pressing (CIP) was applied to fabricate porous lithium sodium potassium niobate (Li0.06Na0.5K0.44) NbO3 specimens using a pore-forming method. The morphologies of the CIP-processed specimens were characterized and compared to those of specimens made by from conventional pressing procedures. The effects of the ceramic on the attachment and proliferation of osteoblasts isolated from the cranium of 1-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats were examined by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and methylthiazol tetrazolium (MTT) assay. RESULTS The results showed that CIP enhanced piezoelectricity and biological performance of the niobate specimen, and also promoted an extracellular matrix-like topography of it. In vitro studies showed that the CIP-enhanced material had positive effects on the attachment and proliferation of osteoblasts. CONCLUSION Niobate ceramic generated by CIP shows a promise for being a piezoelectric composite bone substitute.

Abstract
Taking the China rice/wheat FACE (Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment) as a platform, this paper studied the effects of elevated CO2 on the NH4(+)-N and NO3(-)-N contents at different depths of paddy soil in rice season. Under elevated CO2, the NH4(+)-N content in plough layer increased at early growth stage but decreased at late growth stage, and the soil NO3(-)-N content at the depths 5, 15, 30, 60, and 90 cm increased by 46.5%, 36.8%, 23.3%, 103.7%, and 42.7%, respectively, with a significant increase occurred at the depths 60 cm (P < 0.01) and 90 cm (P < 0.05), compared with the control.
