Abstract
OBJECTIVES The purpose of our study was to assess the multiscalar changes in leprosy burden and its associated risk factors over the last three decades. STUDY DESIGN We conducted an in-depth examination of leprosy's spatial-temporal trends at multiple geographical scale (global, regional, and national), utilizing information from Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD 2019). METHODS Incidence and the estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) in age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR) of leprosy were determined, with countries categorized based on leprosy incidence changes. We examined socioeconomic and physical geography influences on leprosy incidence via Spearman correlation analysis, using ternary phase diagrams to reveal the synergetic effects on leprosy occurrence. RESULTS Globally, incident cases of leprosy decreased by 27.86% from 1990 to 2019, with a reduction in ASIR (EAPC = -2.53), yet trends were not homogeneous across regions. ASIR and EAPC correlated positively with sociodemographic index (SDI), and an ASIR growth appeared in high SDI region (EAPC = 3.07). Leprosy burden was chiefly distributed in Tropical Latin America, Oceania, Central Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia. Negative correlations were detected between the incidence of leprosy and factors of SDI, GDP per capita, urban population to total population, and precipitation, whereas the number of refugee population, temperature, and elevation showed opposite positive results. CONCLUSIONS Despite a global decline in leprosy over the past three decades, the disparities of disease occurrence at regional and national scales still persisted. Socioeconomic and physical geographic factors posed an obvious influence on the transmission risk of leprosy. The persistence and regional fluctuations of leprosy incidence necessitate the ongoing dynamic and multilayered control strategies worldwide in combating this ancient disease.

Abstract
Grain weight is an important determinant of grain yield. However, the underlying regulatory mechanisms for grain size remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we identify a rice mutant grain weight 9 (gw9), which exhibits larger and heavier grains due to excessive cell proliferation and expansion in spikelet hull. GW9 encodes a nucleus-localized protein containing both C2H2 zinc finger (C2H2-ZnF) and VRN2-EMF2-FIS2-SUZ12 (VEFS) domains, serving as a negative regulator of grain size and weight. Interestingly, the non-frameshift mutations in C2H2-ZnF domain result in increased plant height and larger grain size, whereas frameshift mutations in both C2H2-ZnF and VEFS domains lead to dwarf and malformed spikelet. These observations indicated the dual functions of GW9 in regulating grain size and floral organ identity through the C2H2-ZnF and VEFS domains, respectively. Further investigation revealed the interaction between GW9 and the E3 ubiquitin ligase protein GW2, with GW9 being the target of ubiquitination by GW2. Genetic analyses suggest that GW9 and GW2 function in a coordinated pathway controlling grain size and weight. Our findings provide a novel insight into the functional role of GW9 in the regulation of grain size and weight, offering potential molecular strategies for improving rice yield.

Abstract
Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels are cation channels related to a wide range of physical and chemical stimuli, they are expressed all along the gastrointestinal system, and a myriad of diseases are often associated with aberrant expression or mutation of the TRP gene, suggesting that TRPs are promising targets for drug therapy. Therefore, a better understanding of the information of TRPs in health and disease could facilitate the development of effective drugs for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases like IBD. But there are very few generalizations about the experimental techniques studied in this field. In view of the promise of TRP as a therapeutic target, we discuss experimental methods that can be used for TRPs including their distribution, function and interaction with other proteins, as well as some promising emerging technologies to provide experimental methods for future studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Citrus flower-green tea (CT) is a scented tea processed from green tea (GT) and fresh citrus flower, which is favored by consumers due to its potential health benefits and unique citrus flavor. This study evaluated the quality of CT and revealed the mechanism of its quality formation. RESULTS The CT had a significant citrus flavor and a good antioxidant activity, and its sensory quality was superior to that of GT. Headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) analysis revealed that the scenting process resulted in a significant increase of alkenes such as β-pinene, trans-β-ocimene, α-farnesene, isoterpinolene, and γ-terpinene, as well as a significant decrease of alcohols such as α-terpineol, l-menthol, and linalool in CT in comparison with GT. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis revealed that the levels of flavonoids (such as neohesperidin, hesperidin, tangeritin, hesperetin 5-O-glucoside, and nobiletin) and alkaloids (such as trigonelline and theobromine) in CT increased significantly after scenting process, while the levels of amino acids (such as valine and l-phenylalanine) and organic acids (such as ascorbic acid) decreased significantly. CONCLUSION These observations showed that the scenting process promoted the absorption of aroma from citrus flowers by GT and the changes in its non-volatile metabolites, leading to the formation of citrus flavor quality in CT. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Personalized traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) preparations have entered a stage of rapid development. The key to the healthy development of this industry is to establish a sound manufacturing standard and quality control system. This paper analyzed the characteristics of personalized TCM preparations and drew reference from the quality management standards in the production of commissioned decoctions and oral pastes, on the basis of which the production quality management scheme and cautions for the safe production of personalized TCM preparations was put forward with consideration to various problems that may exist and occur in the production of such preparations. It provided references for formulating the production standards and quality management system of personalized TCM preparations. The production standards and quality control system should develop with the times. In the future, modern technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence should be employed to achieve the automated and intelligent production and establish a sound quality traceability system, online control strategy, and safety management mode of personalized TCM preparations, which will ensure the healthy development of this industry under requirement of good manufacturing practice(GMP).

Abstract
This study aims to optimize the matrix formulation for the hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive plaster of personalized traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) preparations and verify the applicability of the formulation. The central composite design in JMP Pro 16.1.0 was employed to optimize the dosages of styrene-isoprene-styrene triblock copolymer(SIS), hydrogenated petroleum resin, and lightweight liquid paraffin, with the fine powder of Yipifang as the model drug(drug loading of 10%) and the sensory score and objective evaluation as the comprehensive evaluation indicators. The quality evaluation system of hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive plaster of personalized TCM preparations was established. The applicability of the optimized matrix formulation of hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive plaster was verified with 16 TCM preparations for external application. Furthermore, the applicability of the matrix formulation was investigated with different drug loadings. The general molding matrix formulation was SIS∶hydrogenated petroleum resin∶lightweight liquid paraffin 3∶3∶5. The optimized matrix formulation showed good molding properties and high quality scores for 16 TCM preparations and were suitable for the plastering of finely powdered decoction pieces with a loading capacity of 10% to 30%. The results suggest that the optimized matrix formulation has good applicability and is suitable for TCM preparations. The findings lay a foundation for the application and promotion of the hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive plasters of personalized TCM preparations.

Abstract
In recent years, as people's living standards continue to improve, and the pace of life accelerates dramatically, the demand and quality of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) services from patients continue to rise. As an essential supplement to the existing forms of TCM application, such as Chinese patent medicine, decoction, and formulated granules, presonalized TCM preparations is facing an increasing market demand. Currently, manual and semi-mechanized production are the primary production ways in presonalized TCM preparations. However, the production process control level is low, and digitalization and informatization need to be improved, which restricts the automated and intelligent development of presonalized TCM preparations. Presonalized TCM preparations faces a significant opportunity and challenge in integrating with intelligent manufacturing through research and development of intelligent equipment and core technology. This paper overviews the connotation and characteristics of intelligent manufacturing and summarizes the application of intelligent manufacturing technologies such as "Internet of things" "big data", and "artificial intelligence" in the TCM industry. Based on the innovative research and development model of "intelligent classification of TCM materials, intelligent decision making of prescription and process, and online control and intelligent production" of presonalized TCM preparations, the research practice and achievements from our research group in the field of intelligent manufacturing of presonalized TCM preparations are introduced. Ultimately, the paper proposes the direction for developing intelligent manufacturing of presonalized TCM preparations, which will provide a reference for the research and application of automation and intelligence of presonalized TCM preparations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The changes that occur in the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels within specific brain regions throughout the day are less clear. PURPOSE To evaluate the daily fluctuations of GABA levels within the parietal lobe (PL) and anterior cingulate gyrus (ACC) regions and explore their association with melatonin (MT) levels, heart rate (HR), and blood pressure. STUDY TYPE Prospective. SUBJECTS 26 healthy young adults (15 males and 11 females aged 22-27 years). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE 3.0T, T1-weighted imaging, Mescher-Garwood point resolved spectroscopy (MEGA-PRESS) sequence. ASSESSMENT The acquired GABA signal contained the overlapping signals of macromolecules and homocarnosine, hence expressed as GABA+. The creatine (Cr) signal was applied as an endogenous reference. The GABA+, GABA+/Cr were measured at six different time points (1:00, 5:00, 9:00, 13:00, 17:00, and 21:00 hours) using MEGA-PRESS. The blood pressure, HR and sputum MT levels, were also acquired. STATISTICAL TESTS The one-way repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to evaluate the GABA, blood pressure, HR, and MT levels throughout the day. A general linear model was used to find the correlation between GABA and blood pressure, HR, and MT. P < 0.05 was statistically significant. RESULTS Significant variations in GABA+/Cr and GABA+ levels were observed throughout the day within the PL region. The lowest levels were recorded at 9:00 hour (GABA+/Cr: 0.100 ± 0.003,GABA+:1.877 ± 0.051 i.u) and the highest levels were recorded at 21:00 hour (GABA+/Cr: 0.115 ± 0.003, GABA+:2.122 ± 0.052 i.u). The MT levels were positively correlated with GABA+/Cr (r = 0.301) and GABA+ (r = 0.312) within the ACC region. DATA CONCLUSION GABA+/Cr and GABA+ in ACC are positively correlated with MT. GABA levels in the PL have diurnal differences. These findings may indicate that the body's GABA level change in response to the light-dark cycle. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE 1 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

Abstract
Grain size is an important determinant of grain yield in rice. Although dozens of grain size genes have been reported, the molecular mechanisms that control grain size remain to be fully clarified. Here, we report the cloning and characterization of GR5 (GRAIN ROUND 5), which is allelic to SMOS1/SHB/RLA1/NGR5 and encodes an AP2 transcription factor. GR5 acts as a transcriptional activator and determines grain size by influencing cell proliferation and expansion. We demonstrated that GR5 physically interacts with five Gγ subunit proteins (RGG1, RGG2, DEP1, GS3, and GGC2) and acts downstream of the G protein complex. Four downstream target genes of GR5 in grain development (DEP2, DEP3, DRW1, and CyCD5;2) were revealed and their core T/CGCAC motif identified by yeast one-hybrid, EMSA, and ChIP-PCR experiments. Our results revealed that GR5 interacts with Gγ subunits and cooperatively determines grain size by regulating the expression of downstream target genes. These findings provide new insight into the genetic regulatory network of the G protein signaling pathway in the control of grain size and provide a potential target for high-yield rice breeding.

Abstract
KEY MESSAGE OsSWEET1b is a hexose transporter protein, which localized in cell membranes and interacting with itself to form homodimer and knockout of OsSWEET1b resulted in reduced leaves sugar content and accelerating leaf senescence. In the rice genome, the SWEET gene family contains 21 homologous members, but the role of some of them in rice growth and development is still unknown. The function of the sugar transporter OsSWEET1b protein in rice was identified in this research. Expression analysis showed that the expression levels of OsSWEET1b in leaves were higher than that in other tissues. The hexose transport experiment confirmed that OsSWEET1b has glucose and galactose transporter activity in yeast. Subcellular localization indicates that OsSWEET1b protein was targeted to the plasma membrane and BiFC analysis showed that OsSWEET1b interacts with itself to form homodimers. Functional analysis demonstrated that the ossweet1b mutant plants were have reduced the sucrose, glucose, fructose, starch and galactose contents, and induced carbon starvation-related gene expression, which might lead to carbon starvation in leaves at filling stage. The ossweet1b knockout plants showed decreased chlorophyll content and antioxidant enzyme activity, and increased ROS accumulation in leaves, leading to leaf cell death and premature senescence phenotype at filling stage. In ossweet1b mutants, the leaf senescence-related gene expression levels were increased and the abundance of photosynthesis-related proteins was decreased. Loss of OsSWEET1b were affected the starch, sucrose metabolism and carbon fixation in photosynthetic organelles pathway by RNA-seq analysis. The destruction of OsSWEET1b function will cause sugar starvation, decreased photosynthesis and leaf senescence, which leading to reduced rice yield. Collectively, our results suggest that the OsSWEET1b plays a key role in rice leaves carbohydrate metabolism and leaf senescence.

Abstract
Tumor aerobic glycolysis is one of the main features of tumor metabolic reprogramming. This abnormal glycolytic metabolism provides bioenergy and biomaterials for tumor growth and proliferation. It is worth noting that aerobic glycolysis will not only provide biological materials and energy for tumor cells, but also help tumor cells to escape immune surveillance through regulation of immune microenvironment, thereby resisting tumor immunotherapy and promoting tumor progression. Based on the pathogenesis of renal cell carcinoma, this paper describes the characteristics of aerobic glycolysis, the effect of glycolytic metabolism on the immune microenvironment of renal cell carcinoma, the effect of glycolysis inhibitors on the immune microenvironment of renal cell carcinoma, and the prospect of glycolysis inhibitors combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma.

Abstract
The combination therapy of platinum-based chemotherapy and PD-L1 inhibitors but not the single anti-PD-L1 therapy has significantly improved the prognosis of patients with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). However, the synergistic mechanism of combination therapy has not been fully elucidated. In this work, we identified a positive correlation between the expression of pyroptosis-related proteins Gasdermin E (GSDME) and the survival rates of patients with SCLC. Importantly, it was shown that human SCLC cell lines with high expression of GSDME showed more sensitivity to cisplatin, as well as cisplatin plus anti-PD-L1 treatment both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanically, cisplatin induced the activation of GSDME and the release of cytokines including IL-12, which enhance the expression of IFN-γ in T cells in the tumor immune microenvironment (TME) and subsequently improve anti-PD-L1 response. Altogether, our work demonstrates that cisplatin could induce GSDME-dependent cell pyroptosis to improve the response of anti-PD-L1 therapy though switching the TME from "cold" to "hot" in SCLC, indicating GSDME as a response biomarker for combination therapy of anti-PD-L1 and chemotherapy, as well as a potential target to sensitize the response to PD-L1 inhibitor therapy in future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The phase III RATIONALE-302 study evaluated tislelizumab, an anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibody, as second-line (2L) treatment for advanced/metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This prespecified exploratory analysis investigated outcomes in patients from Europe and North America (Europe/North America subgroup). PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with tumor progression during/after first-line systemic treatment were randomized 1 : 1 to open-label tislelizumab or investigator's choice of chemotherapy (paclitaxel, docetaxel, or irinotecan). RESULTS The Europe/North America subgroup comprised 108 patients (tislelizumab: n = 55; chemotherapy: n = 53). Overall survival (OS) was prolonged with tislelizumab versus chemotherapy (median: 11.2 versus 6.3 months), with a hazard ratio (HR) of 0.55 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.35-0.87]; HR was similar irrespective of programmed death-ligand 1 score [≥10%: 0.47 (95% CI 0.18-1.21); <10%: 0.55 (95% CI 0.30-1.01)]. Median progression-free survival was 2.3 versus 2.7 months with tislelizumab versus chemotherapy [HR: 0.97 (95% CI 0.64-1.47)]. Overall response rate was greater with tislelizumab (20.0%) versus chemotherapy (11.3%), with more durable response (median duration of response: 5.1 versus 2.1 months). Tislelizumab had a favorable safety profile versus chemotherapy, with fewer patients experiencing ≥grade 3 treatment-related adverse events (13.0% versus 51.0%). Those on tislelizumab experienced less deterioration in health-related quality of life, physical functioning, and/or disease- and treatment-related symptoms (i.e. fatigue, pain, and eating problems) as compared to those on chemotherapy, per the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and QLQ-OES18 scores. CONCLUSIONS As a 2L therapy for advanced/metastatic ESCC, tislelizumab improved OS and had a favorable safety profile as compared to chemotherapy in European/North American ESCC patients in the randomized phase III RATIONALE-302 study.

Abstract
The study was aimed to analyze the seasonal pollen allergen spectrum of patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) in Nanchang city, and to provide evidence for improving the clinical diagnosis, treatment, prevention and epidemiology of seasonal AR. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the results of skin prick test (SPT) among 1 752 patients with AR in outpatient at Department of Otolaryngology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from September 2020 to August 2021 (a total of 1 069 males and 683 females, age ranged from 2 to 84 years old). SPSS 22.0 software was used to analyze the positive rates of main allergens and their differences in gender, age, and month of visit. Differences among groups were compared by student t test, Wilcox rank sum test, or χ2 test. The results showed that among 1 752 SPT-positive patients, the number of simple seasonal AR and the number of perennial combined seasonal AR were 102 (5.82%) and 281 (16.04%), respectively. There was no significant difference between male and female patients in positive seasonal pollen allergens (χ2=2.181, P>0.05), but the positive rate of indoor seasonal pollen allergens in males was higher than that in females (χ2=7.901, P<0.05). The seasonal pollen allergens ranking top 5 of the positive rates were willow (6.62%, 116/1 752), humulus scandens (5.71%, 100/1 752), rape (5.54%, 97/1 752), grey pigweed (4.62%, 81/1 752) and birch (3.60%, 63/1 752). The positive rates of indoor and seasonal pollen allergens increased first and then decreased in different age groups, and the highest positive rates of seasonal pollen allergens were in the age group of 31-40 years old, with statistical significance compared with other groups (χ2=61.269, P<0.05). The seasonal allergen positive rate showed two peaks in time: March to May and September to November. The positive rate of pollen in spring was 60.27% (132/219), which was significantly higher than that in autumn (39.73%,87/219) (χ2=9.247, P<0.05). The positive rate of pollen combination in spring and autumn was 68.29% (112/164), which was significantly higher than that in spring and autumn alone (18.9%,31/164) and (12.8%, 21/164) (χ2=14.731, P<0.05). In summary, pollen allergy in Nanchang City cannot be ignored, accounting for more than 20% of the total number of AR. The incidence of seasonal AR in Nanchang City showed two peaks (March to May and September to November). The common allergens for seasonal AR in Nanchang City were willow, humulus scandens, rape, grey chenopods and birch.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with a risk of complications. This study aimed to develop and validate risk models for predicting complications after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation patients. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included 3365 procedures on 3187 patients with atrial fibrillation at a single medical center from 2018 to 2021. The outcome was the occurrence of postoperative procedural complications during hospitalization. Logistic regression, decision tree, random forest, gradient boosting machine, and extreme gradient boosting were used to develop risk models for any postoperative complications, cardiac effusion/tamponade, and hemorrhage, respectively. Patients' demographic characteristics, medical history, signs, symptoms at presentation, electrocardiographic features, procedural characteristics, laboratory values, and postoperative complications were collected from the medical record. The prediction results were evaluated by performance metrics (i.e., the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, F score, and Brier score) with repeated fivefold cross-validation. RESULTS Of the 3365 RFA procedures, there were 62 procedural complications with a rate of 1.84% in the entire cohort. The most common complications were cardiac effusion/tamponade (28 cases, 0.83%), and hemorrhage (21 cases, 0.80%). There was no procedure-related mortality. The machine learning algorithms of random forest (RF) outperformed other models for any complication (AUC 0.721 vs 0.627 to 0.707), and hemorrhage (AUC 0.839 vs 0.649 to 0.794). The extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model outperformed other models for cardiac effusion/tamponade (AUC 0.696 vs 0.606 to 0.662). CONCLUSIONS The developed risk models using machine learning algorithms showed good performance in predicting complications after RFA of AF patients. These models help identify patients at high risk of complications and guiding clinical decision-making.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the incidence and related factors of chronic neuropathic pain (CNP) in elderly patients after thoracoscopic surgery. Methods: A total of 463 elderly patients (aged≥60 years) who underwent elective video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery from November 2020 to May 2021 at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were prospectively recruited. Among them, 283 were males and 180 were females, with an average age of (66.6±4.8) years. Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) was assessed by telephone at 6 months after surgery, and then the patients with CNP were screened using the ID-pain scale. Multivariable logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors for CNP in elderly patients after thoracoscopic surgery. Results: The incidence of CPSP was 41.9% (194/463), and the incidence of CNP was 18.8% (87/463). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that incision number<3 (OR=0.385, 95%CI: 0.156-0.949, P=0.038) and intraoperative N2O inhalation (OR=0.506, 95%CI: 0.304-0.842, P=0.009) were protective factors for CNP in elderly patients after thoracoscopic surgery, but high numeric rating scale (NRS) score on the first day after surgery (OR=1.180, 95%CI: 1.056-1.318, P=0.003) was a risk factor. Conclusions: The incidence of CNP in elderly patients after thoracoscopic surgery is 18.8%. Incision number<3 and intraoperative N2O inhalation are protective factors for CNP, but high NRS score on the first day after surgery is a risk factor.

Abstract
Medication adherence in pediatric patients is a key factor in drug development and dosage form design. High medication adherence is not only important to achieve the expected treatment effects but can also effectively reduce medical costs. It is an ongoing task to accurately identify differences in medication adherence between children and adults and analyze the factors related to pediatric medication adherence. This is necessary to guide the development of pediatric drugs. This review focuses on factors that influence pediatric medication adherence as well as pharmaceutical design strategies to improve adherence. Current new dosage forms, new technologies, and new devices are comprehensively summarized in terms of their advantages and limitations.

Abstract
Nanoplastics (NPs) have emerged as a novel environmental threat due to their potential impacts on both animals and plants. Currently, research on the ecotoxicity of NPs has mainly focused on marine aquatic organisms and freshwater algae, with very limited investigations conducted on horticultural plants. This study examined the effects of varying concentrations (0, 1, 10, 50 mg·L-1) of polystyrene NPs (PS-NPs) on strawberry growth. The findings revealed that low concentrations of PS-NPs stimulated strawberry growth, whereas high concentrations impeded it. Notably, diverse strawberry cultivars displayed considerable differences in their sensitivity to PS-NP exposure. Laser scanning confocal microscopy confirmed the absorption of PS-NPs by strawberry roots, with variations in PS-NP accumulation observed across different cultivars. Comparative transcriptomics analysis suggested that the differential expression of genes responsible for calcium ion transport played a significant role in the observed intervarietal differences in PS-NP accumulation among strawberry cultivars. Furthermore, distinct variations in endogenous oxidative responses were observed in different strawberry cultivars under PS-NP treatment. Further analysis indicated that the down-regulation of peroxidase (POD) gene expression and terpenoid compounds accumulation were responsible for heightened endogenous oxidative stress observed in certain strawberry cultivars under PS-NP treatment. Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed on six strawberry cultivars to investigate their response to PS-NPs in terms of endogenous gene expression and metabolite accumulation. The results identified one commonly up-regulated gene (wall-associated receptor kinase-like) and sixteen commonly down-regulated genes associated with lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism. In addition, a significant reduction in fatty acid metabolite accumulation was observed in the six strawberry cultivars under PS-NP treatment. These findings have significant implications for understanding the effects of NPs on strawberry growth, metabolism, and antioxidant responses, as well as identifying marker genes for monitoring and evaluating the impact of NP pollution on strawberry.

Abstract
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular death worldwide. AMI with cardiomyopathy is accompanied by a poor long-term prognosis. However, limited studies have focused on the mechanism of cardiomyopathy associated with AMI. Pericytes are important to the microvascular function in the heart, yet little attention has been paid to their function in myocardial infarction until now. In this study, we integrated single-cell data from individuals with cardiomyopathy and myocardial infarction (MI) GWAS data to reveal the potential function of pericytes in cardiomyopathy-associated MI. We found that pericytes were concentrated in the left atrium and left ventricle tissues. DLC1/GUCY1A2/EGFLAM were the top three uniquely expressed genes in pericytes (p < 0.05). The marker genes of pericytes were enriched in renin secretion, vascular smooth muscle contraction, gap junction, purine metabolism, and diabetic cardiomyopathy pathways (p < 0.05). Among these pathways, the renin secretion and purine metabolism pathways were also found in the process of MI. In cardiomyopathy patients, the biosynthesis of collagen, modulating enzymes, and collagen formation were uniquely negatively regulated in pericytes compared to other cell types (p < 0.05). COL4A2/COL4A1/SMAD3 were the hub genes in pericyte function involved in cardiomyopathy and AMI. In conclusion, this study provides new evidence about the importance of pericytes in the pathogenesis of cardiomyopathy-associated MI. DLC1/GUCY1A2/EGFLAM were highly expressed in pericytes. The hub genes COL4A2/COL4A1/SMAD3 may be potential research targets for cardiomyopathy-associated MI.

In recent years, the 3D printing of personalized drug formulations has attracted the attention of medical practitioners and academics. However, there is a lack of data-based analyses on the hotspots and trends of research in this field. Therefore, in this study, we performed a bibliometric analysis to summarize the 3D printing research in the field of personalized drug formulation from 2012 to 2022. This study was based on the Web of Science Core Collection Database, and a total of 442 eligible publications were screened. Using VOSviewer and online websites for bibliometric analysis and scientific mapping, it was observed that annual publications have shown a significant growth trend over the last decade. The United Kingdom and the United States, which account for 45.5% of the total number of publications, are the main drivers of this field. The International Journal of Pharmaceutics and University College London are the most prolific and cited journals and institutions. The researchers with the most contributions are Basit, Abdul W. and Goyanes Alvaro. The keyword analysis concluded that the current research hotspots are "drug release" and "drug dosage forms". In conclusion, 3D printing has broad application prospects in the field of personalized drugs, which will bring the pharmaceutical industry into a new era of innovation.

Abstract
Soil salinization is one of the most common abiotic stresses of rice, which seriously affects the normal growth of rice. Breeding salt-tolerant varieties have become one of the important ways to ensure food security and sustainable agricultural development. However, the mechanisms underlying salt tolerance control still need to be clarified. In this study, we identified a mutant, termed salt-tolerant and small grains(sts), with salt tolerance and small grains. Gene cloning and physiological and biochemical experiments reveal that sts is a novel mutant allele of Mitogen-activated protein Kinase Kinase 4 (OsMKK4), which controls the grain size, and has recently been found to be related to salt tolerance in rice. Functional analysis showed that OsSTS is constitutively expressed throughout the tissue, and its proteins are localized to the nucleus, cell membrane, and cytoplasm. It was found that the loss of OsSTS function enhanced the salt tolerance of rice seedlings, and further studies showed that the loss of OsSTS function increased the ROS clearance rate of rice seedlings, independent of ionic toxicity. In order to explore the salt tolerance mechanism of sts, we found that the salt tolerance of sts is also regulated by ABA through high-throughput mRNA sequencing. Salt and ABA treatment showed that ABA might alleviate the inhibitory effect of salt stress on root length in sts. These results revealed new functions of grain size gene OsMKK4, expanded new research ideas related to salt tolerance mechanism and hormone regulation network, and provided a theoretical basis for salt-tolerant rice breeding.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety and antitumor activity of envafolimab monotherapy in Chinese patients with advanced solid tumors. Methods: This open-label, multicenter phase I trial included dose escalation and dose expansion phases. In the dose escalation phase, patients received subcutaneous 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 mg/kg envafolimab once weekly (QW) following a modified "3+ 3" design. The dose expansion phase was performed in the 2.5 mg/kg and 5.0 mg/kg (QW) dose cohorts. Results: At November 25, 2019, a total of 287 patients received envafolimab treatment. During the dose escalation phase, no dose-limiting toxicities (DLT) was observed. In all dose cohorts, drug-related treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) for all grades occurred in 75.3% of patients, and grade 3 or 4 occurred in 20.6% of patients. The incidence of immune-related adverse reactions (irAE) was 24.0% for all grades, the most common irAEs (≥2%) included hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, immune-associated hepatitis and rash. The incidence of injection site reactions was low (3.8%), all of which were grades 1-2. Among the 216 efficacy evaluable patients, the objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) were 11.6% and 43.1%, respectively. Median duration of response was 49.1 weeks (95% CI: 24.0, 49.3). Pharmacokinetic (PK) exposure to envafolimab is proportional to dose and median time to maximum plasma concentration is 72-120 hours based on the PK results from the dose escalation phase of the study. Conclusion: Subcutaneous envafolimab has a favorable safety and promising preliminary anti-tumor activity in Chinese patients with advanced solid tumors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The current risk stratification schemes for stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) are insufficient for an accurate assessment of stroke risk. AIMS This study evaluates the association between the mechanical function of the left atrial appendage (LAA), as assessed by angiography, and the risk of stroke. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study to assess the mechanical function of the LAA by measuring the left atrial appendage ejection fraction (LAAEF) and grading the contrast retention (CR) using angiography. RESULTS A total of 746 patients referred for a left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) procedure with (n=151; stroke group) or without (n=595; control group) a history of stroke were included in the analysis. LAAEF was significantly lower (14% [9-19] vs 20% [12-33]; p<0.001) and grade 3 CR was more common (66.9% vs 33.9%; p<0.001) in patients with a history of stroke. Multivariable analysis showed that CR was independently associated with stroke in patients with AF (grade 2 vs grade 1=7.29; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.84-21.65; p<0.001; grade 3 vs grade 1=16.45; 95% CI: 6.16-51.02; p<0.001). The receiver operating characteristics curve demonstrated that CR identified patients with stroke more accurately than the CHA2D-VASc score (C-statistic 0.712 vs 0.512; p<0.001), and the combination of CR and the CHA2DS2-VASc score provided the best performance (C-statistic 0.871 vs 0.829 [CHA2DS2-VASc score alone]; p=0.048) Conclusions: Impaired mechanical function of the LAA, indicated by a low LAAEF and CR, is associated with a history of stroke in patients with AF. Assessment of CR using LAA angiography helps improve the stratification scheme for stroke risk prediction.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Additional irinotecan can increase the pCR rate from 15% to 30% compared with capecitabine-based neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer, while more acute diarrhea was induced and predictors of diarrhea have yet to be fully elucidated. In this analysis, we report the incidence of and factors associated with grade 3+ acute diarrhea in LARC patients treated with the CaplriRT regimen in the CinClare trial. MATERIALS/METHODS We identified the dosimetric markers with a lasso-Cox risk scoring model tested on CaplriRT group patients in the CinClare trial at our institution from 2015 to 2017 (CinClare, NCT02605265), and then independently validated according to a predefined protocol in patients treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiation with capecitabine and irinotecan from 2019 to 2022 (NCT05688033). Clinical documentation and patient-reported outcomes were reviewed to determine grade 3+ acute diarrhea events. RESULTS A total of 116 patients from Cinclare trial treated with CaplriRT regimen were used as a training cohort to obtain dosimetric prediction model and 168 patients were used for independent validation. The majority received 50 Gray (Gy) in 25 fractions with concurrent capecitabine and irinotecan. Median number of concurrent chemotherapy cycles received was 4 (IQR: 3-4). Seventeen (23.6%) patients treated with the CaplriRT regimen in the CinClare trial experienced grade 3+ acute diarrhea. Dosimetric predictors of acute diarrhea included peritoneal space volume receiving 25 Gy or greater (V25Gy). The single multivariate Cox regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that the model had good predictive ability (p<0.05). It was also validated using the validation cohort. Patients with peritoneal space V25Gy>950 cm3 were associated with a higher risk of 3+ acute diarrhea compared with those without constraints of V25Gy (p = 0.002). CONCLUSION Peritoneal space V25Gy as an important predictor of acute diarrhea during capecitabine and irinotecan neoadjuvant chemoradiation treatment. Peritoneal space V25Gy < 950 cm3 may reduce acute diarrhea toxicity.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) High-resolution (HR) images are important in precision radiation oncology. However, acquiring HR volumetric CT and MRI images is often time consuming; also, the resolution in some direction(s) (e.g., z-direction in the case of CT) is often limited by imaging hardware or fundamental imaging principle. Super-resolution (SR) imaging, i.e., the low-resolution (LR) to HR image transformation, is widely used to improve image resolution. Data-driven deep learning (DL) methods have achieved great success in SR imaging, yet they can hardly be applied to medical imaging as they require large amount of LR-HR image pairs to train the model. We therefore propose a reference-free DL method to increase resolutions of volumetric medical images in an efficient way. MATERIALS/METHODS We propose a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE)-based implicit neural representation (INR) network for SR imaging. The INR network aims to represent an image as a continuous function parameterized by a coordinate-based multi-layer perceptron. The INR network takes image coordinates as input and outputs corresponding pixel intensities. To train the network without using any HR images, we use a MLE framework to model LR observations' statistics and their relation to the latent HR image. The predicted HR image from the INR's output is transformed to LR images based on the MLE, and the network parameters are then optimized by minimizing the distance between the transformed LR images and actual LR observations. We demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method on CT and MRI images for 2x, 4x, and 8x SR using only one or two LR image(s). The performance is compared with a conventional SR method named plain MLE, in terms of visual quality and numerical qualities of PSNR and SSIM. RESULTS Our method outperformed the plain MLE method in the experiment. Table 1 reports the numerical improvements of our method over the compared plain MLE method. For 2x SR with a single LR image, our method achieved significant improvements in both PSNR and SSIM. When using two LR images, the better structural restoration capability of our method became more obvious with higher SR magnifications, as indicated by the increased SSIM differences. Better noise suppression capability of our method is observed in all our studies, as indicated by the PSNR values. In visual quality evaluation, we observed sharper image details with less noise in SR images generated by the proposed method, compared with the plain MLE method. CONCLUSION The proposed novel reference-free DL method can efficiently provide high-quality HR images with only one or two LR images for CT and MRI imaging. This method can be easily generalized to many other radiation therapy related applications without the requirement for HR reference images.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) This study aimed to identify factors influencing axillary pathological complete response (pCR) and to develop a predictive nomogram to evaluate axillary pCR rate in breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 2368 patients who received NAC and mastectomy between 2000 and 2014 from 12 grade A tertiary hospitals in China were analyzed retrospectively. The patients treated in three cancer hospitals (training set, n = 1629) were used to construct the nomogram based on multivariate logistic regression analyses. The nomograph was validated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and calibration curve in patients from 9 other general hospitals (validation set, n = 739). RESULTS The nomogram incorporated seven predicting factors including NACT cycles, response to NACT, clinical T stage, clinical N stage, grade, LVI, and molecular subtype. The AUC for the training set and validation set were 0.762 and 0.802, respectively. In addition, the calibration curve also showed good agreement between the nomogram-based predictions and the actual observations. CONCLUSION A nomogram was established to predict the status of axillary lymph nodes in breast cancer patients after NAC. The predictive model performed well both in the training set and external validation set.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To reconstruct volumetric MRI from orthogonal cine acquisition aided by sparse priors of 2 static 3D MRI through implicit neural representation (NeRP) learning, with the goal of eliminating large-scale training datasets for data-driven sparse MRI reconstruction and supporting clinical workflow of real time 3D motion tracking during MR-guided radiotherapy. MATERIALS/METHODS A multi-layer perceptron network was trained to learn the NeRP of a patient-specific MRI dataset, where the network takes 4D data coordinates of voxel locations and motion states as inputs and outputs corresponding voxel intensities. By first learning the NeRP of 2 static 3D MRI with different breathing motion states, prior knowledge of patient breathing motion was embedded into network weights through optimization. The prior knowledge was then augmented from 2 to 31 motion states by querying the optimized network at interpolated/extrapolated motion state coordinates. Starting from the prior-augmented network as an initialization point, the network was further trained using sparse samples of 2 orthogonal cine slices. The final volumetric reconstruction was obtained by querying the trained network at desired 3D spatial locations. We evaluated the proposed method using 5-minute volumetric MRI time series with 340 ms temporal resolution collected from 7 liver carcinoma patients. The time series was acquired using golden-angle radial MRI sequence and reconstructed through retrospective sorting. Two MRI with inhale and exhale states respectively were selected from the first 30 sec of the time series for prior embedding and augmentation. The remaining 4.5-min time series was used for volumetric reconstruction evaluation, where we retrospectively subsampled each MRI to 2 orthogonal slices and compared network-reconstructed images to ground truth images in terms of image quality and the capability of supporting 3D target motion tracking. RESULTS Across the 7 patients evaluated, the peak signal to noise ratio between model reconstruction and ground truth was 54.66 ± 6.16 dB and the structural similarity index measure was 0.99 ± 0.01. Gross tumor volume (GTV) contours estimated by deforming a reference state MRI to model-reconstructed and ground truth MRI showed good consistency. The 95-percentile Hausdorff distance between GTV contours was 1.89 ± 1.13 mm, which is less than the voxel dimension. The mean GTV centroid position difference between ground truth and model estimation was less than 1 mm in all 3 orthogonal directions. CONCLUSION Volumetric MRI from orthogonal cine acquisition with sparse priors is feasible by modeling prior knowledge through implicit neural representation learning. The model-reconstructed images showed sufficient accuracy in supporting 3D motion tracking of abdominal targets. By eliminating the need for large scale training datasets, the method promises to enable clinical implementation of 3D motion tracking for precision radiation therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Recurrence risk score model was established to distinguish the recurrent risk of patients with pathologic nodal negative (ypN0) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and mastectomy and determine the impact of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT). MATERIALS/METHODS This multicenter retrospective study reviewed 766 patients who underwent mastectomy and NACT with ypN0 from 2000 to 2014. Recurrent risk score model was assigned proportionally to the relative contribution of independent prognostic factors in the multivariate Cox model of disease-free survival (DFS). Decision tree analysis was conducted to determine two optimal cutoff points for stratification. RESULTS The median follow-up time was 74 months. The 5-year locoregional control (LRC), DFS, and overall survival (OS) rates for the entire group were 96.5%, 89.1% and 95.3%, respectively. 353 (46.1%) patients received PMRT and 413 (53.9%) patients did not. Patients with PMRT have more high-risk factors, including age <40 years, clinical stage III, grade III, or ER and PR negative. Chest wall and regional nodal region were irradiated in 307 (87.0%) and chest wall only in 46 (13.0%). The median radiation dose was 50 Gy (range: 36-60 Gy) in 25 fractions (range: 15-30 fractions). There were no significant differences between the PMRT and No-PMRT groups in the LRC, DFS and OS rates. Recurrent risk score model consisted of five factors and used a range of zero to eleven scoring points: age <40 years and clinical N1 stage for one point; clinical N2, NACT ≥4 cycles, lymphovascular invasion and ypT1-2 for two points; ypT3-4 for four points. 456 (59.5%) patients scoring zero to four points, 188 (24.5%) scoring five points and 122 (15.9%) scoring six to eleven points were assigned to the low-, intermediate-, and high-risk group. LRC, DFS and OS rates in three risk groups were significantly distinct from each other (5yr-LRC: 98.6% vs. 95.5% vs. 89.8%, p < .001; 5yr-DFS: 94.4% vs. 87.4% vs. 71.5%, p < .001; 5yr-OS: 97.6% vs. 93.2% vs. 90.0%, p < .001). PMRT had no impact on the LRC, DFS and OS rates in either low-, intermediate-, or high-risk group. CONCLUSION The recurrence risk score model can effectively distinguish patients with different recurrent risk stratification. Abstract
Objective: To examine the safety and effectiveness of thin struct bare stents for the treatment of spontaneous isolated dissection of the superior mesenteric artery (SIDSMA). Methods: The data of 32 patients admitted to First Hospital of Jiaxing (20 cases) and Jinling Hospital (12 cases) with SIDSMA from January 2016 to January 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 27 males and 5 females, aging (54.8±9.4) years (range: 36 to 75 years). All patients were treated with thin struct bare stents. Controllable spring coils were used to fulfill the false lumen in 2 cases. Symptoms, vascular remodeling pattern at the SIDSMA lesion, and patency of the stents were observed during follow-up. Results: The surgical success rate was 100%. According to the length of the lesions and stents, the number of stents implanted was 1 in 17 cases, 2 in 11 cases and 3 in 4 cases. The angiography showed that blood flow in the stent was smooth and that the false lumen disappeared or weakened. The numerical rating scale for abdominal pain decreased from 6.1±1.5 (range: 4 to 10) preoperatively to 1.0 (1.0) (range: 0 to 3) 1 hour postoperatively (W=528, P<0.01). The compression rate of the true lumen of the superior mesenteric artery decreased from (92.3±6.7)% (range: 25% to 94%) preoperatively to 0.8 (1.2)% (range: 0 to 3.2%) 1 month postoperatively (W=528, P<0.01). The primary patency rate of CT angiography at 1 month postoperatively was 100%. The vascular remodeling rate was (92.3±6.7)% (range: 80% to 100%). All patients were followed for (46.3±17.0) months (range: 24 to 76 months). The cumulative patency rates in 1, 2 and 5 years were all 100%. Conclusion: The use of thin struct bare stents for SIDSMA is safety and efficacy.

Abstract
In the winter of 2022, circular or irregular leaf spots were observed on strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) planted in commercial fields (cultivar 'xuetu', 'mengzhifu') in Yinzhou, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China (N29°48'48″, E121°39'47″), with disease incidence ranging from 10 to 15% in a field approximately 0.67 ha in size. The estimated crop loss associated with this disease was ~10%. Symptoms included circular or irregular lesions with brown halos and wheel marks, which eventually developed into leaf blight and petiole decay, but spore masses were seldom found on the leaf surface. In severe cases, leaves withered and abscissed. To isolate the causal agent, ten diseased leaves from ten different plants were collected, surface-sterilized with 75% ethanol for 50 s, rinsed twice with sterile distilled water, cut into small pieces (0.5 cm × 0.5 cm), and plated on potato dextrose agar (PDA), then incubated at 25°C in darkness for 5 days. Isolates , which displayed one kind of colony morphology were consistently obtained from each of the ten samples, and 58 single-conidium isolates with the same colony morphology were obtained. The isolation frequency was 58 of 60 samples. The colonies that grew on PDA produced white mycelia, which sporulated after 1 week, producing typical Botrytis-like gray spores. Three isolates (NBCM-1, NBCM-2, NBCM-3) were selected for identification and pathogenicity assays. Conidia were round to ellipsoid, 9.2 to 14.3 μm long (n=50), and 6.4 to 9.2 μm wide (n=50). Sclerotia were not observed on PDA. Based on these characteristics, the pathogen was tentatively identified as Botrytis cinerea (Zhang 2001). PCR was conducted for each of the three isolates to amplify the G3PDH, HSP60, RPB2, NEP1, and NEP2 genes, which are typically used for molecular identification of Botrytis species (Staats et al. 2005; Liu et al. 2016). The resulting amplicons were sequenced, and the sequences were processed using BLAST in the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Sequences of the three isolates were deposited in GenBank (accession nos. OR052082 to OR052086, OR493405 to OR493414). BLASTn analyses showed that isolates were 99 to 100% identical to B.cinerea reported causing leaf spot on strawberry in California; accession numbers MK919496 (G3PDH, 883/883 bp), MK919494 (HSP60, 992/992 bp), and MK919495 (RPB2, 1081/1081 bp). The resulting concatenated data set of G3PDH-HSP60-RPB2-NEP1-NEP2 was used to conduct a multilocus phylogenetic analysis (MLSA) using the maximum likelihood method. The MLSA tree indicated that the three isolates belonged to Botrytis cinerea. To test for pathogenicity, three 1-month-old strawberry (cultivar 'xuetu') plants were inoculated with each isolate (NBCM-1, NBCM-2, NBCM-3). A noninoculated control (sterile water only) was also included. The strawberry plants were inoculated by spraying with conidia suspension (1.0 × 105/ml) until run-off. Inoculations with sterile water served as controls. All plants were kept at 28/25°C (day/night), under a 12:12-h light/dark photoperiod. All plants were covered with transparent plastic bags to maintain humidity for the first 48 h, after which the bags were removed. After 4 to 7 days, leaf spot symptoms similar to those observed in the field were observed in all inoculated plants, while the controls remained healthy. The experiment was repeated three times. The pathogen was reisolated from the inoculated leaves and again identified as B. cinerea, with the same methodology used for the initial identification. Leaf spot caused by B. cinerea on strawberry was recently reported in California (Mansouripour and Holmes 2020) and Florida (Marin and Peres 2022). To our knowledge, this is the first report of B. cinerea causing leaf spot on strawberry in China. The pathogen is also the causal agent of Botrytis fruit rot on strawberry. Given the high variability of this pathogen (Marin and Peres 2022), further studies on its occurrence, spread, management, and control are required. The identification of this pathogen provides a basis for further research on its management and control.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mitochondrion is the key respiratory organ and participate in multiple anabolism and catabolism pathways in eukaryote. However, the underlying mechanism of how mitochondrial membrane proteins regulate leaf and grain development remains to be further elucidated. RESULTS Here, a mitochondria-defective mutant narrow leaf and slender grain 1 (nlg1) was identified from an EMS-treated mutant population, which exhibits narrow leaves and slender grains. Moreover, nlg1 also presents abnormal mitochondria structure and was sensitive to the inhibitors of mitochondrial electron transport chain. Map-based cloning and transgenic functional confirmation revealed that NLG1 encodes a mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase containing a subunit Tim21. GUS staining assay and RT-qPCR suggested that NLG1 was mainly expressed in leaves and panicles. The expression level of respiratory function and auxin response related genes were significantly down-regulated in nlg1, which may be responsible for the declination of ATP production and auxin content. CONCLUSIONS These results suggested that NLG1 plays an important role in the regulation of leaf and grain size development by maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis. Our finding provides a novel insight into the effects of mitochondria development on leaf and grain morphogenesis in rice.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety of simultaneous administration of quadrivalent influenza split virion vaccine and 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine in adults aged 60 years and older. Methods: From November 2021 to May 2022, eligible participants aged 60 years and older were recruited in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, China, and a total of 2 461 participants were ultimately enrolled in this study. Each participant simultaneously received one dose of quadrivalent influenza split virion vaccine and one dose of 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine. The safety was observed within 28 days after vaccination. Safety information was collected through voluntary reporting and regular follow-ups. Results: All 2 461 participants completed the simultaneous administration of both vaccines and the safety follow-ups for 28 days after vaccination. The mean age of the participants was (70.66±6.18) years, with 54.61% (1 344) being male, and all participants were Han Chinese residents. About 22.51% (554) of the participants had underlying medical conditions. The overall incidence of adverse reactions within 0-28 days after simultaneous vaccination was 2.07% (51/2 461), mainly consisting of Grade 1 adverse reactions [1.83% (45/2 461)], with no reports of Grade 4 or higher adverse reactions or vaccine-related serious adverse events. The incidence of local adverse reactions was 0.98% (24/2 461), primarily presenting as pain at the injection site [0.93% (23/2 461)]. The incidence of systemic adverse reactions was 1.42% (35/2 461), with fever [0.85% (21/2 461)] being the main symptom. In the group with underlying medical conditions and the healthy group, their overall incidence of adverse reactions was 2.53% (14/554) and 1.94% (37/1 907), respectively. The incidence of local adverse reactions in the two groups was 1.62% (9/554) and 0.79% (15/1 907), respectively, and the incidence of systemic adverse reactions was 1.44% (8/554) and 1.42% (27/1 907), respectively, with no statistically significant differences between them (all P>0.05). Conclusion: It is safe for adults aged 60 years and older to receive quadrivalent influenza split virion vaccine and 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine at the same time.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The Naples prognostic score (NPS) is a newly developed indicator of inflammation and nutritional status. However, its role in predicting the prognosis of lung cancer is unclear. We hereby reviewed the association between NPS and outcomes of lung cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar were searched up to 15th April 2023 for studies assessing the predictive role of NPS for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in lung cancer. RESULTS Seven studies were included. All were from China. One study was on small cell lung cancer, while the rest were on non-small cell lung cancer. Meta-analysis demonstrated that a high NPS score was a significant predictor of OS (HR: 3.21 95% CI: 2.27, 4.54 I2=62%) and disease-free survival (DFS) (HR: 3.81 95% CI: 2.57, 5.64 I2=65%) in lung cancer patients. Subgroup analysis based on different NPS reference values also showed similar results. The results remained significant on sensitivity analysis. CONCLUSIONS The NPS is a strong and independent prognostic indicator of lung cancer patients. Higher NPS scores are associated with worse OS and DFS. Further studies from non-Chinese populations are needed to supplement the results.

Abstract
Lactose is one of the most widespread excipients used in the pharmaceutical industry. Because of its water solubility and acceptable flowability, lactose is generally added into tablet formulation to improve wettability and undesirable flowability. Based on Quality by Design, a better understanding of the critical material attributes (CMAs) of raw materials is beneficial in guiding the improvement of tablet quality and the development of lactose. Additionally, the modifications and co-processing of lactose can introduce more-desirable characteristics to the resulting particles. This review focuses on the functionality, CMAs, applications, modifications and co-processing of lactose in tablets.

Abstract
The patient had received five courses of anti-tuberculosis treatment for recurrent tuberculosis. The drug sensitivity test results of the first three courses showed drug-sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis, and the fourth diagnosis was rifampin-resistant tuberculosis (RR-TB), complicated by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, type Ⅱ respiratory failure, pulmonary heart disease, and heart failure (grade Ⅲ). The patient stopped taking the anti-tuberculosis drugs on his own in the eighth month of receiving the resistant treatment. After admission, the symptoms improved temporarily after receiving oxygen therapy, anti-infection, and anti-tuberculosis treatment. Because of hemoptysis, the patient underwent arterial embolization by catheterization, but a large amount of hemoptysis occurred shortly thereafter. Emergency left total lung resection and gauze packing for hemostasis were performed. After surgery, the patient's vital signs were maintained with mechanical ventilation and vasopressors. Forty-eight hours after surgery, the gauze was removed, and the patient underwent tracheotomy, enteral nutrition, and anti-tuberculosis treatment. After discharge, the patient underwent rehabilitative exercise and anti-resistant tuberculosis therapy. The patient's condition remained stable for more than six months of follow-up.

Abstract
Introduction In coronary bifurcation lesions treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using a 1-stent strategy, the occurrence of side branch (SB) compromise may lead to long-term myocardial ischemia in the SB territory. Murray law-based quantitative flow ratio (μQFR) is a novel angiography-based approach estimating fractional flow reserve from a single angiographic view, and thus is more feasible to assess SB compromise in routine practice. However, its association with long-term SB coronary blood flow remains unknown. Methods A total of 146 patients with 313 non-left main bifurcation lesions receiving 1-stent strategy with drug-eluting stents was included in this retrospective study. These lesions had post-procedural Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) flow grade 3 in SBs, and documented angiographic images of index procedure and 6- to 24-month angiographic follow-up. Post-procedural SB μQFR was calculated. Long-term SB coronary blood flow was quantified with the TIMI grading system using angiograms acquired at angiographic follow-up. Results At follow-up, 8 (2.6%), 16 (5.1%), 61 (19.5%), and 228 (72.8%) SBs had a TIMI flow grade of 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The incidences of long-term SB TIMI flow grade ≤1 and ≤2 both tended to decrease across the tertiles of post-procedural SB μQFR. The receiver operating characteristic curve analyses indicated the post-procedural SB μQFR ≤0.77 was the optimal cut-off value to identify long-term SB TIMI flow grade ≤1 (specificity, 37.50%; sensitivity, 87.20%; area under the curve, 0.6673; P = 0.0064), and it was independently associated with 2.57-fold increased risk (adjusted OR, 2.57; 95% CI, 1.02-7.25; P = 0.045) in long-term SB TIMI flow grade ≤1 after adjustment. Discussion Post-procedural SB μQFR was independently associated with increased risk in impaired SB TIMI flow at long-term follow-up. Further investigations should focus on whether PCI optimization based on μQFR may contribute to improve SB flow in the long term.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) infection on IFNGR1 palmitoylation and biological behaviors of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells and the clinical implications. METHODS The expression levels of IFNGR1 protein in ESCC cell lines KYSE30 and KYSE70 were detected using Western blotting at 24 and 48 h after Pg infection, and 2-BP was used to detect IFNGR1 palmitoylation in the cells. KYSE70 cells with wild-type IFNGR1 (IFNGR1-WT cells) and with IFNGR1-C122A palmitoylation site mutation induced by site-specific mutagenesis (IFNGR1-C122A cells) were both infected with Pg, and the changes in palmitoylation of IFNGR1-C122A were analyzed using immunofluorescence and Click-iT assays. The changes in proliferation, migration and invasion ability of the infected cells were evaluated using plate cloning assay, scratch assay and Transwell assay, and IFNGR1 co-localization with lysosomal marker LAMP2 was dected using immunofluorescence assay. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect Pg infection and IFNGR1 protein expression in 50 ESCC tissues, and their correlation with the clinicopathological characteristics and survival outcomes of the patients was analyzed. RESULTS Pg infection down-regulated the protein expression of IFNGR1 in ESCC and promoted IFNGR1 palmitoylation at site 122. In IFNGR1-WT cells, Pg infection significantly enhanced cell proliferation, migration and invasion (P < 0.05). Similarly, Pg also significantly promoted proliferation, migration and invasion of IFNGR1-C122A cells, but to a lesser extent as compared with the wild-type cells (P < 0.05). Immunofluorescence assay showed that Pg and ZDHHC3 promoted IFNGR1 degradation within the lysosome. Immunohistochemical studies of the ESCC tissue samples showed a negative correlation between IFNGR1 and Pg expression, and a reduced IFNGR1 expression was correlated with a poorer survival outcome of the patient. CONCLUSION Pg infection enhances IFNGR1 palmitoylation to promote progression of ESCC, and elimination of Pg and inhibiting IFNGR1 palmitoylation may effectively control ESCC progression.

Abstract
This study aims to examine (i) the effect of diluent types (lactose monohydrate, corn starch, and microcrystalline cellulose) and granulation liquids (20% polyvinylpyrrolidone-k30, 65% alcohol, and dispersion containing 40% model drug- Pithecellobium clypearia Benth extracted powder) on granule properties and tablet quality for high shear wet granulation and tableting (HSWG-T) and, more importantly, (ii) the attribute transmission in the process. In general, the impact of diluents on granule properties and tablet quality was more dominant than that of granulation liquids. Attribute transmission patterns were revealed as follows. The granules' ISO. Roundness and density correlated with raw material (i.e., model drug, diluent, and/or granulation liquid) properties such as density and viscosity. The granules' compressibility parameter a correlated with the granules' Span, and parameter y0 correlated with the granules' flowability and friability. Compactibility parameters ka and kb correlated mainly with granule flowability and density, and parameter b correlated significantly and positively with tablet tensile strength. The compressibility correlated negatively with tablet solid fraction (SF) and friability, while the compactibility correlated positively with tablet disintegration time. Moreover, the rearrangement and elasticity of granules correlated positively with SF and friability, respectively. Overall, this study provides some guides for achieving high-quality tablets via HSWG-T.

Abstract
Background Postpartum depression (PPD) is considered the most widespread puerperium complication. The associations of major depressive disorder with certain types of cerebrovascular diseases and cognitive function have been proposed, but the potential causal effects of PPD on these phenotypes are still unknown. Methods A Mendelian randomization (MR) research design with various methods (e.g., inverse-variance weighted method and MR pleiotropy residual sum and outlier test) was adopted to establish a causal relationship between PPD with cerebrovascular diseases and cognitive impairment. Results No causal relationship between PPD with carotid intima media thickness and cerebrovascular diseases (i.e., stroke, ischemic stroke, and cerebral aneurysm) was found. However, MR analyses indicated a causal association between PPD and decreased cognitive function (P = 3.55 × 10-3), which remained significant even after multiple comparison corrections using the Bonferroni method. Sensitivity analyses using weighted median and MR-Egger methods indicated a consistent direction of the association. Conclusion The causal association between PPD and cognitive impairment indicates that cognitive impairment is a critical aspect of PPD and thus cannot be regarded as an epiphenomenon. Addressing cognitive impairment and lessening the symptoms associated with PPD independently play significant roles in the treatment of PPD.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the accuracy of different corneal curvature parameters in assessing the corneal refractive status and tracking corneal power changes after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE). Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study tracked and recorded total corneal curvature parameters measured by different instruments before and three months after SMILE for myopia. These parameters, including total keratometry (TK) from the IOLMaster 700, total corneal refractive power (TCRP) from the Pentacam AXL, real keratometry (RK) from the CASIA 2, and corrected parameters calculated using the Haigis, Shammas, and Maloney methods, were compared with data obtained using the clinical history method (CHM). Surgically induced changes in TK, TCRP, and RK were analyzed and compared with those in spherical equivalent on the corneal plane (ΔSEco). Results: The study included 40 eyes (40 participants). After SMILE, the difference was smallest between TK [(0.08±0.38) D] and CHM values (P>0.05). However, TCRP, RK, KHaigis, KShammas, and KMaloney were significantly different from CHM data (P<0.05). The width of the 95% limits of agreement of TK (1.49 D) was narrowest, followed by that of RK (1.57 D). Pearson analysis showed that each parameter had a good correlation with CHM data. The differences between the changes in TK, TCRP and RK caused by surgery and ΔSEco were (0.03±0.39) D, (0.17±0.43) D, and (-0.19±0.46) D, respectively. The width of the 95% limits of agreement of ΔTK (1.54 D) was narrowest, and the correlation coefficient of ΔTK (0.951) was highest. Conclusion: The parameter TK of the IOLMaster 700 can provide accurate and objective corneal power evaluation after SMILE.

Abstract
The current hypertension guideline emphasizes combination therapy, especially single-pill combination therapy (SPC). However, few studies compared the prevalence and factors associated with initial therapy choice across heterogeneous age groups in a current population. First, the authors consecutively identified 964 treatment naïve hypertensive patients in a large academic hospital from 01/31/2019 to 01/31/2020. All patients were grouped into (1) young aged, age < 55; (2) middle-aged, 55≤age < 65; and (3) older aged, age ≥65. The multivariable regression model examined the factors associated with the combination therapy by age group. Overall, 80 (8.3%) were young, 191 (19.8%) were middle, and 693 (71.9%) were older aged. Compared with older age, younger patients were more likely to be male, highly educated, regularly exercised, have metabolic syndrome, and less likely to have cardiovascular-related comorbidities, with a lower systolic but higher diastolic pressure. Only one in five patients used SPC, and the prevalence decreased with age. Besides hypertension grade, young patients without catheterization or echo test were less likely to receive multiple therapies, while older patients who were male with lower weight and lower risk levels were less likely to receive multiple therapies. In conclusion, combination therapy, especially SPC, was underused in the targeted hypertensive population. Our contemporary population study showed that young patients (<55) without a history of catheterization or echo examination and male older-aged (≥65) patients with low-risk classification were the population most likely to be neglected. Such information can help triage medical care resources in improving SPC use.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomarker potential of TIMP-2 in septic-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). Healthy male rats (n=56, age 8-10 weeks, body weight 250-300 g) were randomized into 3 groups: controls (intact rats, n=6), sham-operated (SO, n=24), and sepsis model (cecum ligation and perforation, CLP, n=24). Thirty minutes before and 6, 12, 24, and 48 h after surgery, blood samples were collected to measure serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and TIMP-2 and the kidneys were isolated for histopathological analysis and Western blotting. The key sepsis-related genes were screened through bioinformatics analysis. In 24 and 48 h after surgery, 2 rats in the SO group reached the diagnostic criteria of AKI (increased levels of serum creatinine and BUN). In the CLP group, serum creatinine in 6 h after the surgery was slightly higher than 30 min before the surgery, but this change did not meet the diagnostic criteria for AKI. In the CLP group, BUN was normal 6 h after the surgery, but increased after 12 h. In more than 50% rats of the CLP group, serum creatinine and BUN significantly increased 12 h after operation, so this can be diagnosed as AKI. In rats of the CLP group, plasma TIMP-2 was elevated 6 h after surgery and increased with time, suggesting that plasma TIMP-2 can be used as an early marker of AKI. Histological examination of the kidneys in this group revealed destruction of the renal tubular structure, swelling of renal tubular epithelium, the disappearance of brush edge and collapse of necrotic epithelial cells, etc., and the degree of damage increased with time. Immunohistochemistry showed that TIMP-2 was expressed in rats of the CLP group at all terms of the experiment. The expression of TIMP-2 and pyroptosis-related proteins (NLRP3, IL-1β, caspase-1, and GSDMD) in the CLP group was higher than in the SO group (p<0.05) and increased with time, suggesting that pyroptosis is involved in AKI. Thus, plasma TIMP-2 is sensitive indicator for the early detection of kidney injury and can be used as an early biomarker of AKI.
