Abstract
Soil biogeochemical cycles are essential for regulating ecosystem functions and services. However, little knowledge has been revealed on microbe-driven biogeochemical processes and their coupling mechanisms in soil profiles. This study investigated the vertical distribution of soil functional composition and their contribution to carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycling in the humus horizons (A-horizons) and parent material horizons (C-horizons) in Udic and Ustic Isohumosols using shotgun sequencing. Results showed that the diversity and relative abundance of microbial functional genes was influenced by soil horizons and soil types. In A-horizons, the relative abundances of N mineralization and liable C decomposition genes were significantly greater, but the P cycle-related genes, recalcitrant C decomposition and denitrification genes were lower compared to C-horizons. While, Ustic Isohumosols had lower relative abundances of C decomposition genes but higher relative abundances of N mineralization and P cycling-related pathways compared to Udic Isohumosols. The network analysis revealed that C-horizons had more interactions and stronger stability of functional gene networks than in A-horizons. Importantly, our results provide new insights into the potential mechanisms for the coupling processes of soil biogeochemical cycles among C, N and P, which is mediated by specific microbial taxa. Soil pH and carbon quality index (CQI) were two sensitive indicators for regulating the relative abundances and the relationships of functional genes in biogeochemical cycles. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the ecological functions of soil microorganisms, thus providing a theoretical basis for the exploration and utilization of soil microbial resources and the development of soil ecological control strategies.

Abstract
Using Euryale ferox husk as raw material, pristine biochar (EBC), Bi2MoO6-modified biochar (BM-EBC), and BiFeO3-modified biochar (BF-EBC) were prepared and employed for decontaminating Congo red (CR) from wastewater. Compared with EBC (217.59 mg/g) and BF-EBC (359.49 mg/g), a superior adsorption capacity of 460.77 mg/g was achieved by BM-EBC. Based on the evaluation results of the Freundlich and pseudo-second-order models, multilayer chemisorption was suggested as the adsorption mechanism. The adsorption process of BM-EBC was spontaneous and endothermic, and the rate-limiting step pertained to liquid film diffusion and intraparticle diffusion. The underlying removal mechanism was explored via SEM, BET, FTIR, XPS, Raman spectra, and Zeta potential analyses. The introduction of bismuth oxymetallates with their high number of M-O (M: Bi, Mo, Fe) structural elements provided the adsorbent with enlarged surface areas and reinforced oxygen functional groups, thereby promoting pore filling, π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding, and complexation, leading to enhanced adsorption capacity. These results demonstrate that Euryale ferox husk biochar modified by bismuth oxymetallates has high prospects for valorizing biomass waste and removing CR from wastewater.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the early clinical characteristics of elderly patients with severe burns and the risk factors on prognosis. Methods: This study was a retrospective case series study. Clinical data of 124 elderly patients with severe burns who met the inclusion criteria and were admitted to the 12 hospitals from January 2015 to December 2020 were collected, including 4 patients from the Fourth People's Hospital of Dalian, 5 patients from Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, 22 patients from Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital of Jinan University, 5 patients from Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital, 27 patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, 9 patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, 10 patients from Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University, 9 patients from Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University & Wuhan Third Hospital, 12 patients from the 924th Hospital of PLA, 6 patients from Zhangjiagang First People's Hospital, 4 patients from Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province, and 11 patients from Zhengzhou First People's Hospital. The patients' overall clinical characteristics, such as gender, age, body mass index, total burn area, full-thickness burn area, inhalation injury, causative factors, whether combined with underlying medical diseases, and admission time after injury were recorded. According to the survival outcome within 28 days after injury, the patients were divided into survival group (89 cases) and death group (35 cases). The following data of patients were compared between the two groups, including the basic data and injuries (the same as the overall clinical characteristics ahead); the coagulation indexes within the first 24 hours of injury such as prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time, D-dimer, fibrinogen degradation product (FDP), international normalized ratio (INR), and fibrinogen; the blood routine indexes within the first 24 hours of injury such as white blood cell count, platelet count, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, monocyte count, red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit; the organ function indexes within the first 24 hours of injury such as direct bilirubin, total bilirubin, urea, serum creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, total protein, albumin, globulin, blood glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, alkaline phosphatase, creatine kinase, electrolyte indexes (potassium, sodium, chlorine, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus in blood), uric acid, myoglobin, and brain natriuretic peptide; the infection and blood gas indexes within the first 24 hours of injury such as procalcitonin, C-reactive protein, pH value, oxygenation index, base excess, and lactate; treatment such as whether conducted with mechanical ventilation, whether conducted with continuous renal replacement therapy, whether conducted with anticoagulation therapy, whether applied with vasoactive drugs, and fluid resuscitation. The analysis was conducted to screen the independent risk factors for the mortality within 28 days after injury in elderly patients with severe burns. Results: Among 124 patients, there were 82 males and 42 females, aged 60-97 years, with body mass index of 23.44 (21.09, 25.95) kg/m2, total burn area of 54.00% (42.00%, 75.00%) total body surface area (TBSA), and full-thickness burn area of 25.00% (10.00%, 40.00%) TBSA. The patients were mainly combined with moderate to severe inhalation injury and caused by flame burns. There were 43 cases with underlying medical diseases. The majority of patients were admitted to the hospital within 8 hours after injury. There were statistically significant differences between patients in the 2 groups in terms of age, total burn area, full-thickness burn area, and inhalation injury, and PT, APTT, D-dimer, FDP, INR, white blood cell count, platelet count, urea, serum creatinine, blood glucose, blood sodium, uric acid, myoglobin, and urine volume within the first 24 hours of injury (with Z values of 2.37, 5.49, 5.26, 5.97, 2.18, 1.95, 2.68, 2.68, 2.51, 2.82, 2.14, 3.40, 5.31, 3.41, 2.35, 3.81, 2.16, and -3.82, respectively, P<0.05); there were statistically significant differences between two groups of patients in whether conducted with mechanical ventilation and whether applied with vasoactive drugs (with χ2 values of 9.44 and 28.50, respectively, P<0.05). Age, total burn area, full-thickness burn area, serum creatinine within the first 24 hours of injury, and APTT within the first 24 hours of injury were the independent risk factors for the mortality within 28 days after injury in elderly patients with severe burns (with odds ratios of 1.17, 1.10, 1.10, 1.09, and 1.27, 95% confidence intervals of 1.03-1.40, 1.04-1.21, 1.05-1.19, 1.05-1.17, and 1.07-1.69, respectively, P<0.05). Conclusions: The elderly patients with severe burns had the injuries mainly from flame burns, often accompanied by moderate to severe inhalation injury and enhanced inflammatory response, elevated blood glucose levels, activated fibrinolysis, and impaired organ function in the early stage, which are associated with their prognosis. Age, total burn area, full-thickness burn area, and serum creatinine and APTT within the first 24 hours of injury are the independent risk factors for death within 28 days after injury in this population.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the diagnosis and surgical treatment of high-risk anomalous aortic origin of coronary artery (AAOCA). Methods: This is a retrospective case series study. From January 2016 to July 2023, 24 cases of high-risk AAOCA underwent surgical treatment in Department of Cardiac Surgery, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital. There were 18 males and 6 females, operatively aged (M (IQR)) 13 (26) years (range: 0.3 to 57.0 years). They were confirmed by cardiac ultrasound and cardiac CT, all of which had anomalous coronary running between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. There were 15 cases of the right coronary artery from the left aortic sinus of Valsalva, 6 cases of left coronary artery from the right aortic sinus of Valsalva, 3 cases of the sigle coronary artery. Only 3 patients had no obvious related symptoms (2 cases were complicated with a positive exercise stress test and 1 case with other intracardiac malformations), 21 cases had a history of chest tightness, chest pain, or syncope after exercise. Three patients suffered syncope after exercise and underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation (2 cases were treated with an extracorporeal membrane oxygenerator (ECMO)). The gap from the first symptom to the diagnosis was 4.0 (11.5) months (range: 0.2 to 84.0 months). The detection rate of coronary artery abnormalities suggested by the first cardiac ultrasound was only 37.5% (9/24). Seven patients were complicated with other cardiac diseases (4 cases with congenital heart defects, 2 cases with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, 1 case with mitral valve disease). Results: All 24 patients underwent surgical treatment (23 cases underwent abnormal coronary artery unroofing, 1 case underwent coronary artery bypass grafting), and 5 patients underwent other intracardiac malformation correction at the same time. There were no death or surgery related complications in the hospital for 30 days after the operation. A patient with preoperative extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation was continuously assisted by ECMO after emergency AAOCA correction and had complications such as limb ischemia necrosis and renal dysfunction after the operation. During the follow-up of 2.2 (3.3) years (range: 1 month to 7.2 years), one patient who previously underwent percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty with a stent implant experienced significant postoperative symptomatic relief, and the other discharged patients had no related symptoms. Conclusions: The accurate rate of initial diagnosis for high-risk AAOCA is still low, but the risk of cardiovascular accidents is high. For sports-related chest pain and other symptoms, more attention should be paid to the detection of AAOCA, especially for adolescents. Exercise stress testing can be helpful in evaluating the cardiovascular risk of asymptomatic AAOCA. Instant surgical treatment can achieve satisfactory curative effects.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the blood cadmium concentrations and the related change in Chinese urban children derived from the China Nutrition and Health Survey 2002 and 2012(CNHS 2002 and CNHS 2012). METHODS The Chinese urban children aged 6-11 years were selected according to gender, age and regional distribution using the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method, as well as the corresponding whole blood samples. The blood cadmium concentration was carefully determined by the quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) and the percentage of blood cadmium over 2 μg/L was subsequently estimated. In addition, the upper limit values of the 95%CI of the 95th percentiles of available blood cadmium data was assessed as the threshold of cadmium exposure. RESULTS Totally, 2182 Chinese urban children were included, and of these, 1036 children were from the CNHS 2002 and 1146 children were from the CNHS 2012. From the CNHS 2002 to the CNHS 2012, the median blood cadmium concentration was increased from 0.28 μg/L to 0.95 μg/L, and the percentage of blood cadmium with over 2 μg/L was elevated from 1.45% to 10.47%. In addition, the new estimated threshold of blood cadmium was ascended from 1.24 μg/L up to 2.89 μg/L. CONCLUSION The risk of cadmium exposure in Chinese urban children aged 6-11 years was increasingly aggravated from the CHNS 2002 to the CNHS 2012.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Benign nerve sheath tumors (BNSTs) present diagnostic challenges due to their heterogeneous nature. This study aimed to determine the significance of NRG1 as a novel diagnostic biomarker in BNST, emphasizing its involvement in the PI3K-Akt pathway and tumor immune regulation. METHODS Differential genes related to BNST were identified from the GEO database. Gene co-expression networks, protein-protein interaction networks, and LASSO regression were utilized to pinpoint key genes. The CIBERSORT algorithm assessed immune cell infiltration differences, and functional enrichment analyses explored BNST signaling pathways. Clinical samples helped establish PDX models, and in vitro cell lines to validate NRG1's role via the PI3K-Akt pathway. RESULTS Nine hundred eighty-two genes were upregulated, and 375 downregulated in BNST samples. WGCNA revealed the brown module with the most significant difference. Top hub genes included NRG1, which was also determined as a pivotal gene in disease characterization. Immune infiltration showed significant variances in neutrophils and M2 macrophages, with NRG1 playing a central role. Functional analyses confirmed NRG1's involvement in key pathways. Validation experiments using PDX models and cell lines further solidified NRG1's role in BNST. CONCLUSION NRG1 emerges as a potential diagnostic biomarker for BNST, influencing the PI3K-Akt pathway, and shaping the tumor immune microenvironment.

Abstract
Hole-transport-layer-free perovskite solar cells have attracted strong interest due to their simple structure and low cost, but charge recombination is serious. Built-in electric field engineering is an intrinsic driver to facilitate charge separation transport and improve the efficiency of photovoltaic devices. However, the enhancement of the built-in electric field strength is often accompanied by the narrowing of the space charge region, which becomes a key constraint to the performance improvement of the device. Here, we propose an effective regulation method, the component engineering of quantum dots, to enhance the strength of the built-in electric field and broaden the range of space charge. By using all inorganic CsPbBrxI3-x (x = 0, 1, 2, 3) quantum dot interface modification to passivate the defects of MAPbI3 perovskite films, the regulation law of quantum dot components on the work function of perovskite films was revealed, and the mechanism of their influence on the internal electric field intensity and space charge region distribution was further clarified, thereby fundamentally solving the serious problem of charge recombination. As directly observed by electron-beam-induced current (EBIC), the introduction of CsPbBr2I quantum dots can effectively enhance the interfacial electric field intensity, widening the space charge region from 160 to 430 nm. Moreover, the efficiency of the hole-free transport layer perovskite solar cells modified by CsPbBr2I quantum dots was also significantly enhanced by 1.5 times. This is an important guideline for electric field modulation and efficiency improvement within photovoltaic devices with other simplified structures.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Bladder cancer (BLCA) affects millions of people worldwide, with high rates of incidence and mortality. Ferroptosis proves to be a novel form of cell death process that is triggered by oxidative stress. METHODS We procured a total of 25 single nuclear RNA-seq (snRNA-seq) samples from GSE169379 in GEO database. We obtained different cohorts of BLCA patients from the TCGA and GEO databases for model training and validation. A total of 369 ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) were selected from the FerrDb database. AUCell analysis was performed to assign ferroptosis scores to all the cell types. Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA), COX, and LASSO regression analysis were conducted to retain and finalize the genes of prognostic values. Various bioinformatic approaches were utilized to depict immune infiltration profile. We conducted a series of colony formation analysis, flow cytometry and western blot (WB) analysis to determine the role of SKAP1 in BLCA. RESULTS We divided the cells into high ferroptosis group and low ferroptosis group according to ferroptosis activity score, and then screened 2150 genes most associated with ferroptosis by differential expression analysis, which are related to UV-induced DNA damage, male hormone response, fatty acid metabolism and hypoxia. Subsequently, WGCNA algorithm further screened 741 ferroptosis related genes from the 2150 genes for the construction of prognostic model. Lasso-Cox regression analysis was used to construct the prognostic model, and the prognostic model consisting of 6 genes was obtained, namely JUN, SYT1, MAP3K8, GALNT14, TCIRG1, and SKAP1. Next, we constructed a nomogram model that integrated clinical factors to improving the accuracy. In addition, we performed drug sensitivity analyses in different subgroups and found that Staurosporine, Rapamycin, Gemcitabine, and BI-2536 may be candidates for the drugs treatment in high-risk populations. The ESTIMATE results showed higher stromal scores, immune scores, and ESTIMATE scores in the low-risk group, indicating a higher overall immunity level and immunogenicity of tumor microenvironment (TME) in this group, and tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE) analysis confirmed a better response to immunotherapy in the low-risk group. Finally, we selected the oncogene SKAP1 in the prognostic gene for in vitro validation, and found that SKAP1 directly regulated BLCA cell proliferation and apoptosis. CONCLUSION We identified a set of six genes, JUN, SYT1, MAP3K8, GALNT14, TCIRG1, and SKAP1, that exhibited significant potential in stratification of BLCA patients with varying prognosis. In addition, we uncovered the direct regulatory effect of SKAP1 on BLCA cell proliferation and apoptosis, shedding some light on the role of FRGs in pathogenesis of BLCA.

Abstract
Selecting an appropriate intensity of epidemic prevention and control measures is of vital significance to promoting the two-way dynamic coordination of epidemic prevention and control and economic development. In order to balance epidemic control and economic development and suggest scientific and reasonable traffic control measures, this paper proposes a SEIQR model considering population migration and the propagation characteristics of the exposed and the asymptomatic, based on the data of COVID-19 cases, Baidu Migration, and the tourist economy. Further, the factor traffic control intensity is included in the model. After determining the functional relationship between the control intensity and the number of tourists and the cumulative number of confirmed cases, the NSGA-II algorithm is employed to perform multi-objective optimization with consideration of the requirements for epidemic prevention and control and for economic development to get an appropriate traffic control intensity and suggest scientific traffic control measures. With Xi'an City as an example. The results show that the Pearson correlation coefficient between the predicted data of this improved model and the actual data is 0.996, the R-square in the regression analysis is 0.993, with a significance level of below 0.001, suggesting that the predicted data of the model are more accurate. With the continuous rise of traffic control intensity in different simulation scenarios, the cumulative number of cases decreases by a significant amplitude. While balancing the requirements for epidemic prevention and control and for tourist economy development, the model works out the control intensity to be 0.68, under which some traffic control measures are suggested. The model presented in this paper can be used to analyze the impacts of different traffic control intensities on epidemic transmission. The research results in this paper reveal the traffic control measures balancing the requirements for epidemic prevention and control and for economic development.

Abstract
The skin is intrinsically a cell-membrane-compartmentalized hydrogel with high mechanical strength, potent antimicrobial ability, and robust immunological competence, which provide multiple protective effects to the body. Methods capable of preparing hydrogels that can simultaneously mimic the structure and function of the skin are highly desirable but have been proven to be a challenge. Here, dual structurally and functionally skin-mimicking hydrogels are generated by crosslinking cell-membrane compartments. The crosslinked network is formed via free radical polymerization using olefinic double bond-functionalized extracellular vesicles as a crosslinker. Due to the dissipation of stretching energy mediated by vesicular deformation, the obtained compartment-crosslinked network shows enhanced mechanical strength compared to hydrogels crosslinked by regular divinyl monomers. Biomimetic hydrogels also exhibit specific antibacterial activity and adequate ability to promote the maturation and activation of dendritic cells given the existence of numerous extracellular vesicle-associated bioactive substances. In addition, the versatility of this approach to tune both the structure and function of the resulting hydrogels is demonstrated through introducing a second network by catalyst-free click reaction-mediated crosslinking between alkyne-double-ended polymers and azido-decorated extracellular vesicles. This study provides a platform to develop dual structure- and function-controllable skin-inspired biomaterials.

Abstract
Cancer remains a significant global health issue, despite advances in screening and treatment. While existing tumor treatment protocols such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy have proven effective in enhancing the prognosis for some patients, these treatments do not benefit all patients. Consequently, certain types of cancer continue to exhibit a relatively low 5-year survival rate. Therefore, the pursuit of novel tumor intervention strategies may help improve the current effectiveness of tumor treatment. Over the past few decades, numerous species of protozoa and their components have exhibited anti-tumor potential via immune and non-immune mechanisms. This discovery introduces a new research direction for the development of new and effective cancer treatments. Through in vitro experiments and studies involving tumor-bearing mice, the anti-tumor ability of Toxoplasma gondii, Plasmodium, Trypanosoma cruzi, and other protozoa have unveiled diverse mechanisms by which protozoa combat cancer, demonstrating encouraging prospects for their application. In this review, we summarize the anti-tumor ability and anti-tumor mechanisms of various protozoa and explore the potential for their clinical development and application.

Abstract
All-inorganic cesium lead bromide quantum dots (CsPbBr3 -QD) compounds are potential candidates for optoelectronic devices, because of their excellent fluorescence luminescence and thermal stability. However, the many heterojunction interfaces and large band gap induce the low power conversion efficiency in the CsPbBr3 -QD heterojunction, limiting its practical applications. Hereby, in combination with the pressure regulation and TiO2 /CsPbBr3 -QD heterojunction, the interface interaction within the heterojunction can be enhanced and the band gap can be narrowed. The pressure-induced O─Ti─O bond softening and PbBr6 octahedron stiffening at the interface region significantly enhance the interface interactions that are favorable to the carrier transport. Compared with CsPbBr3 -QD, the atomic interaction between Pb and Br of TiO2 /CsPbBr3 -QD heterojunction can be dramatically enhanced at high pressures, leading to increased band gap narrowing rate by two times, which is useful to widen the absorption spectrum. The fluorescence intensity increases by two times. Compression increases the photocurrent and maintains it after the pressure is released, which is due to the enhanced interface interaction induced by the high pressure. The findings provide new opportunities to adjust the physical properties of perovskite heterogeneous structures, and have important applications in the field of new-generation photovoltaic devices.

Abstract
Herein, a magnetic borate-functionalized MXene composite with multiple boronic affinity sites was fabricated by embedding Fe3 O4 nanoparticles with 4-formylphenylboronic acid functionalized Ti3 C2 Tx nanosheets and served as sorbent for the simultaneous extraction of catecholamines (CAs) in urine samples. The morphology and structure of the magnetic materials were investigated using scanning microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, and X-ray diffraction. The introduction of polyethyleneimine can amplify the bonded boronic acid groups, thereby effectively improving the adsorption capacities for CAs based on the multiple interactions of boronic affinity, hydrogen bonding, and metal coordination. The adsorption performance was investigated using the kinetics and isotherms models, and the main parameters that influence the extraction efficiency were optimized. Under the most favorable magnetic solid-phase extraction condition, a sensitive method for the analysis of CAs in urine samples was developed by combining magnetic solid-phase extraction conditions with high-performance liquid chromatography detection. The findings illustrated that the proposed approach possessed a wide linearity range of 0.05-250 ng/mL with an acceptable correlation coefficient (R2 ≥ 0.9984) and detection limits of 0.010-0.015 ng/mL for the target CAs. The research not only provides a notable composite with multiple boronic affinity sites but also offers an effective and feasible measure for the detection of CAs in biological samples.

Abstract
Evidence suggests that the DNA of oral pathogens is detectable in the dilated aortic tissue of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), one of the most fatal cardiovascular diseases. However, the association between oral microbial homeostasis and aneurysm formation remains largely unknown. In this study, a cohort of individuals, including 53 AAA patients and 30 control participants (CTL), was recruited for salivary microbiota investigation by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and bioinformatics analysis. Salivary microbial diversity was decreased in AAA compared with CTL, and the microbial structures were significantly separated between the two groups. Additionally, significant taxonomic and functional changes in the salivary microbiota of AAA participants were observed. The genera Streptococcus and Gemella were remarkably enriched, while Selenomonas, Leptotrichia, Lautropia and Corynebacterium were significantly depleted in AAA. Co-occurrence network analysis showed decreased potential interactions among the differentially abundant microbial genera in AAA. A machine-learning model predicted AAA using the combination of 5 genera and 14 differentially enriched functional pathways, which could distinguish AAA from CTL with an area under the receiver-operating curve of 90.3 %. Finally, 16 genera were found to be significantly positively correlated with the morphological parameters of AAA. Our study is the first to show that AAA patients exhibit oral microbial dysbiosis, which has high predictive power for AAA, and the over-representation of specific salivary bacteria may be associated with AAA disease progression. Further studies are needed to better understand the function of putative oral bacteria in the etiopathogenesis of AAA. Importance Host microbial dysbiosis has recently been linked to AAA as a possible etiology. To our knowledge, studies of the oral microbiota and aneurysms remain scarce, although previous studies have indicated that the DNA of some oral pathogens is detectable in aneurysms by PCR method. We take this field one step further by investigating the oral microbiota composition of AAA patients against control participants via high-throughput sequencing technologies and unveiling the potential microbial biomarker associated with AAA formation. Our study will provide new insights into AAA etiology, treatment and prevention from a microecological perspective and highlight the effects of oral microbiota on vascular health.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application value of computed tomography (CT) examination of lymph node short diameter in evaluating cardia-left gastric lymph node metastasis in thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods: A total of 477 patients with primary thoracic ESCC who underwent surgical treatment in the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2013 to December 2017 were collected. All of them underwent McKeown esophagectomy plus complete two-field or three-field lymph node dissection. Picture archiving and communication system were used to measure the largest cardia-left gastric lymph node short diameter in preoperative CT images. The postoperative pathological diagnosis results of cardia-left gastric lymph node were used as the gold standard. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the efficacy of CT lymph node short diameter in detecting the metastasis of cardia-left gastric lymph node in thoracic ESCC, and determine the optimal cut-off value. Results: The median short diameter of the largest cardia-left gastric lymph node was 4.1 mm in 477 patients, and the largest cardia-left gastric lymph node short diameter was less than 3 mm in 155 cases (32.5%). Sixty-eight patients had cardia-left gastric lymph node metastases, of which 38 had paracardial node metastases and 41 had left gastric node metastases. The lymph node ratios of paracardial node and left gastric node were 4.0% (60/1 511) and 3.3% (62/1 887), respectively. ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of CT lymph node short diameter for evaluating cardia-left gastric lymph node metastasis was 0.941 (95% CI: 0.904-0.977; P<0.05). The optimal cut-off value of CT examination of the cardia-left gastric lymph node short diameter was 6 mm, and the corresponding sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 85.3%, 91.7%, and 90.8%, respectively. Conclusion: CT examination of lymph node short diameter can be a good evaluation of cardia-left gastric lymph node metastasis in thoracic ESCC, and the optimal cut-off value is 6 mm.

Abstract
Elevated CO2 and temperature likely alter photosynthetic carbon inputs to soils, which may stimulate soil microbial activity to accelerate the decomposition of soil organic carbon (SOC), liberating more phosphorus (P) into the soil solution. However, this hypothesis on the association of SOC decomposition and P transformation in the plant rhizosphere requires robust soil biochemical evidence, which is critical to nutrient management for the mitigation of soil quality against climate change. This study investigated the microbial functional genes relevant to P mineralization together with priming processes of SOC in the rhizosphere of soybean grown under climate change. Soybean plants were grown under elevated CO2 (eCO2, 700 ppm) combined with warming (+ 2 °C above ambient temperature) in open-top chambers. Photosynthetic carbon flow in the plant-soil continuum was traced with 13CO2 labeling. The eCO2 plus warming treatment increased the primed carbon (C) by 43 % but decreased the NaHCO3-extratable organic P by 33 %. Furthermore, NaHCO3-Po was negatively correlated with phosphatase activity and microbial biomass C. Elevated CO2 increased the abundances of C degradation genes, such as abfA and ManB, and P mineralization genes, such as gcd, phoC and phnK. The results suggested that increased photosynthetic carbon inputs to the rhizosphere of plants under eCO2 plus warming stimulated the microbial population and metabolic functions of both SOC and organic P mineralization. There is a positive relationship between the rhizosphere priming effect and P mineralization. The response of microorganisms to plant-C flow is decisive for coupled C and P cycles, which are likely accelerated under climate change.

Abstract
PURPOSE To determine whether the morphological parameters of prostate zones and tumors on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can predict the tumor-stage (T-stage) of prostate cancer (PCa) and establish an optimal T-stage diagnosis protocol based on three-dimensional reconstruction and quantization after image segmentation. METHODS A dataset of the prostate MRI scans and clinical data of 175 patients who underwent biopsy and had pathologically proven PCa from January 2018 to November 2020 was retrospectively analyzed. The authors manually segmented and measured the volume, major axis, and cross-sectional area of the peripheral zone (PZ), transition zone, central zone (CZ), anterior fibromuscular stroma, and tumor. The differences were evaluated by the One-Way analysis of variance, Pearson's chi-squared test, or independent samples t-test. Spearman's correlation coefficient and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were also performed. The cut-off values of the T-stage diagnosis were generated using Youden's J index. RESULTS The prostate volume (PV), PZ volume (PZV), CZ volume, tumor's major axis (TA), tumor volume (TV), and volume ratio of the TV and PV were significantly different among stages T1 to T4. The cut-off values of the PV, PZV, CZV, TA, TV, and the ratio of TV/PV for the discrimination of the T1 and T2 stages were 53.63 cm3, 11.60 cm3, 1.97 cm3, 2.30 mm, 0.90 cm3, and 0.03 [area under the curves (AUCs): 0.628, 0.658, 0.610, 0.689, 0.724, and 0.764], respectively. The cut-off values of the TA, TV, and the ratio of TV/PV for the discrimination of the T2 and T3 stages were 2.80 mm, 8.29 cm3, and 0.12 (AUCs: 0.769, 0.702, and 0.688), respectively. The cut-off values of the TA, TV, and the ratio of TV/PV for the discrimination of the T3 and T4 stages were 4.17 mm, 18.71 cm3, and 0.22 (AUCs: 0.674, 0.709, and 0.729), respectively. CONCLUSION The morphological parameters of the prostate zones and tumors on the MRIs are simple and valuable diagnostic factors for predicting the T-stage of patients with PCa, which can help make accurate diagnoses and lateral treatment decisions.

Abstract
The kinesin-14 motor proteins play important roles in tumor development and drug resistance and have been reported as potential biomarkers or therapeutic targets for tumor treatment. However, kinesin family member C2 (KIFC2), one of the kinesin-14 motor family members, remains largely unknown in prostate cancer (PCa) progression. Here, we used the GEO and The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry analyses to detect KIFC2 expression in PCa tissues. Additionally, a series of in vivo and in vitro experiments were utilized to demonstrate the roles of KIFC2 in PCa cells. We found that KIFC2 was highly expressed and positively correlated with the clinicopathological characteristics in PCa. Functional experiments indicated that KIFC2 could promote PCa progression. Furthermore, we performed an analysis of the KEGG and GSEA databases, subcellular fractionation, and immunofluorescence to investigate the potential mechanisms of KIFC2 in PCa. We confirmed that KIFC2 could regulate the NF-κB pathway via mediating NF-κB p65 protein expression and nuclear translocation thereby promoting PCa progression and chemotherapeutic resistance. Together, our results suggest that KIFC2 is overexpressed in PCa. By regulating the NF-κB pathway, KIFC2 may play a crucial role in PCa.

Abstract
The microbiome function responses to land use change are important for the long-term prediction and management of soil ecological functions under human influence. However, it has remains uncertain how the biogeographic patterns of soil functional composition change when transitioning from natural steppe soils (NS) to agricultural soils (AS). We collected soil samples from adjacent pairs of AS and NS across 900 km of Mollisol areas in northeast China, and the soil functional composition was characterized using shotgun sequencing. AS had higher functional alpha-diversity indices with respect to KO trait richness and a higher Shannon index than NS. The distance-decay slopes of functional gene composition were steeper in AS than in NS along both spatial and environmental gradients. Land-use conversion from steppe to farmland diversified functional gene profiles both locally and spatially; it increased the abundances of functional genes related to labile carbon, but decreased those related to recalcitrant substrate mobilization (e.g., lignin), P cycling, and S cycling. The composition of gene functional traits was strongly driven by stochastic processes, while the degree of stochasticity was higher in NS than in AS, as revealed by the neutral community model and normalized stochasticity ratio analysis. Alpha-diversity of core functional genes was strongly related to multi-nutrient cycling in AS, suggesting a key relationship to soil fertility. The results of this study challenge the paradigm that the conversion of natural to agricultural habitat will homogenize soil properties and biology while reducing local and regional gene functional diversity.

Abstract
Critical limb ischemia, the final course of peripheral artery disease, is characterized by an insufficient supply of blood flow and excessive oxidative stress. H2 S molecular therapy possesses huge potential for accelerating revascularization and scavenging intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). Moreover, it is found that BMP6 is the most significantly up-expressed secreted protein-related gene in HUVECs treated with GYY4137, a H2 S donor, based on the transcriptome analysis. Herein, a UIO-66-NH2 @GYY4137@BMP6 co-delivery nanoplatform to strengthen the therapeutic effects of limb ischemia is developed. The established UIO-66-NH2 @GYY4137@BMP6 nanoplatform exerts its proangiogenic and anti-oxidation functions by regulating key pathways. The underlying molecular mechanisms of UIO-66-NH2 @GYY4137@BMP6 dual-loading system lie in the upregulation of phosphorylated YAP/TAZ and Jun to promote HUVECs proliferation and downregulation of phosphorylated p53/p21 to scavenge excessive ROS. Meanwhile, laser-doppler perfusion imaging (LDPI), injury severity evaluation, and histological analysis confirm the excellent therapeutic effects of UIO-66-NH2 @GYY4137@BMP6 in vivo. This work may shed light on the treatment of critical limb ischemia by regulating YAP, Jun, and p53 signaling pathways based on gas-protein synergistic therapy.

Abstract
There is still controversy about optimal dietary iodine intake as the Universal Salt Iodization policy enforcement in China. A modified iodine balance study was thus conducted to explore the suitable iodine intake in Chinese adult males using the iodine overflow hypothesis. In this study, thirty-eight apparently healthy males (19·1 (sd 0·6) years) were recruited and provided with designed diets. After the 14-d iodine depletion, daily iodine intake gradually increased in the 30-d iodine supplementation, consisting of six stages and each of 5 d. All foods and excreta (urine, faeces) were collected to examine daily iodine intake, iodine excretion and the changes of iodine increment in relation to those values at stage 1. The dose-response associations of iodine intake increment with excretion increment were fitted by the mixed effects models, as well as with retention increment. Daily iodine intake and excretion were 16·3 and 54·3 μg/d at stage 1, and iodine intake increment increased from 11·2 μg/d at stage 2 to 118·0 μg/d at stage 6, while excretion increment elevated from 21·5 to 95·0 μg/d. A zero iodine balance was dynamically achieved as 48·0 μg/d of iodine intake. The estimated average requirement and recommended nutrient intake were severally 48·0 and 67·2 μg/d, which could be corresponded to a daily iodine intake of 0·74 and 1·04 μg/kg per d. The results of our study indicate that roughly half of current iodine intakes recommendation could be enough in Chinese adult males, which would be beneficial for the revision of dietary reference intakes.

Abstract
Background There is a lack of evidence guiding the surgical timing selection in pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect. This study aims to compare the long-term outcomes of different initial rehabilitative surgical ages in patients with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect (PAVSD). Methods From January 2011 to December 2020, a total of 101 PAVSD patients undergoing the initial rehabilitative surgery at our center were retrospectively reviewed. Receiver-operator characteristics curve analysis was used to identify the cutoff age of 6.4 months and therefore to classify the patients into two groups. Competing risk models were used to identify risk factors associated with complete repair. The probability of survival and complete repair were compared between the two groups using the Kaplan-Meier curve and cumulative incidence curve, respectively. Results The median duration of follow-up was 72.76 months. There were similar ΔMcGoon ratio and ΔNakata index between the two groups. Multivariate analysis showed that age ≤6.4 months (hazard ratio (HR) = 2.728; 95% confidence interval (CI):1.122-6.637; p = 0.027) and right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery connection (HR = 4.196; 95% CI = 1.782-9.883; p = 0.001) were associated with increased probability of complete repair. The cumulative incidence curve showed that the estimated complete repair rates were 64% ± 8% after 3 years and 69% ± 8%% after 5 years in the younger group, significantly higher than 28% ± 6% after 3 years and 33% ± 6% after 5 years in the elder group (p < 0.001). There was no significant difference regarding the estimated survival rate between the two groups. Conclusion Compared with those undergoing the initial rehabilitative surgery at the age >6.4 months, PAVSD patients at the age ≤6.4 months had an equal pulmonary vasculature development, a similar probability of survival but an improved probability of complete repair.

Abstract
Background Sleep plays a pivotal role in children's mental and physical development and has been linked to the gut microbiota in animals and adults. However, the characteristics of the gut microbiota and metabolites and the relationship to late bedtimes in children remain unclear. Methods In total, 88 eligible children, aged from 3 to 8 years, were recruited and divided into two groups according to the bedtime collected by designed questionnaires (early, before 22:00: n = 48; late, after 22:00, n = 40). Stools and plasma samples were collected to examine the characteristics of the gut microbiota and metabolites by shotgun metagenomics and metabolomics. Results The richness and diversity of the gut microbiota in children with early bedtime were significantly increased compared with the late ones. Coprococcus, Collinsella, Akkermansia muciniphila, and Bifidobacterium adolescentis were significantly more abundant in children with early bedtime, while Bacteroides and Clostridium sp. CAG-253 were obviously enriched in the late ones. A total of 106 metabolic pathways, including biosynthesis of ribonucleotide, peptidoglycan, and amino acids, and starch degradation were enriched in children with early bedtime, while 42 pathways were abundant in those with late bedtime. Notably, more gut microbial metabolites were observed in children with late bedtime, which included aldehyde, ketones, esters, amino acids and their metabolites, benzene and substituted derivatives, bile acids, heterocyclic compounds, nucleotide and metabolites, organic acid and derivatives, sugars and acyl carnitine. In plasma, fatty amides, lipids, amino acids, metabolites, hormones, and related compounds were enriched in children with early bedtime, while bile acids were higher in children with late bedtime. Association studies revealed that the different microbial species were correlated with metabolites from gut microbiota and plasma. Conclusions The results of our study revealed that the gut microbiota diversity and richness, and metabolic pathways were significantly extensive in children with early bedtime, whereas the gut microbial metabolites were significantly decreased, which might be related to gut microbial differences.

Abstract
Background: Many patients with Type B aortic dissection (TBAD) may not show noticeable symptoms until they become intervention and help prevent critically ill, which can result in fatal outcomes. Thus, it is crucial to screen people at high risk of TBAD and initiate the necessary preventive and therapeutic measures before irreversible harm occurs. By developing a prediction model for aortic arch morphology, it is possible to accurately identify those at high risk and take prompt action to prevent the adverse consequences of TBAD. This approach can facilitate timely the development of serious illnesses. Method: The predictive model was established in a primary population consisting of 173 patients diagnosed with acute Stanford TBAD, with data collected from January 2017 and December 2018, as well as 534 patients with healthy aortas, with data collected from April 2018 and December 2018. Explicitly, the data were randomly separated into the derivation set and validation set in a 7:3 ratio. Geometric and anatomical features were extracted from a three-dimensional multiplanar reconstruction of the aortic arch. The LASSO regression model was utilized to minimize the data dimension and choose relevant features. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and backward stepwise selection were employed for predictive model generation, combining demographic and clinical features as well as geometric and anatomical features. The predictive model's performance was evaluated by examining its calibration, discrimination, and clinical benefit. Finally, we also conducted internal verification. Results: After applying LASSO logistic regression and backward stepwise selection, 12 features were entered into the prediction model. Age, aortic arch angle, total thoracic aorta distance, ascending aorta tortuosity, aortic arch tortuosity, distal descending aorta tortuosity, and type III arch were protective factors, while male sex, hypertension, aortic arch height, and aortic arch distance were risk factors. The model exhibited satisfactory discrimination (AUC, 0.917 [95% CI, 0.890-0.945]) and good calibration in the derivation set. Applying the predictive model to the validation set also provided satisfactory discrimination (AUC, 0.909 [95% CI, 0.864-0.953]) and good calibration. The TBAD nomogram for clinical use was established. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that a multivariable logistic regression model can be used to predict TBAD patients.

Abstract
The recent report of near-ambient superconductivity and associated color changes in pressurized nitrogen doped lutetium hydride has triggered worldwide interest and raised major questions about the nature and underlying physics of these latest claims. Here we report synthesis and characterization of high-purity nitrogen doped lutetium hydride LuH2±xNy. We find that pressure conditions have notable effects on Lu-N and Lu-NH chemical bonding and the color changes likely stem from pressure-induced electron redistribution of nitrogen/vacancies and interaction with the LuH2 framework. No superconducting transition is found in all the phases at temperatures 1.8-300 K and pressures 0-38 GPa. Instead, we identify a notable temperature-induced resistance anomaly of electronic origin in LuH2±xNy, which is most pronounced in the pink phase and may have been erroneously interpreted as a sign of superconducting transition. This work establishes key benchmarks for nitrogen doped lutetium hydrides, allowing an in-depth understanding of its novel pressure-induced phase changes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to assess the outcomes of thrombectomy with/without iliac vein stenting for young and transiently provoked DVT patients with iliac vein stenosis. METHODS This is a retrospective analysis of a prospectively collected multicenter database. Acute, transiently provoked DVT patients between 18 and 45 years old with iliac vein stenosis were included. All patients underwent thrombectomy. Outcomes including the Villalta score, the VEINES-QOL score, and adverse events were evaluated. RESULTS The data of 522 patients were collected of whom 75 were included, 58 underwent thrombectomy alone (nonstenting group) and 17 underwent thrombectomy and stenting (stenting group). Within 6 months, the Villalta score of patients in stenting group is lower than that of patients in nonstenting group (6 mo: 0.73 ± 0.77 vs. 1.41 ± 0.56, p = .0004), and the VEINES-QOL score of stenting group is higher than that of nonstenting group (6 mo: 89.00 ± 2.94 vs. 87.47 ± 3.72, p = .2141). At the following follow-ups, the Villalta score (12 mo: 0.56 ± 0.49 vs. 0.60 ± 0.58, p = .8266) and VEINES-QOL score (12 mo: 88.36 ± 2.29 vs. 88.31 ± 3.36, p = .9604) between the two groups are similar. CONCLUSION The stenting group had better efficacy within 6 months after intervention, while there was no significant difference in the symptom, signs, and quality of life between two groups after 6 months within a 2-year follow-up. TRIAL REGISTRATION This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (Registration Number: ChiCTR2200056073).

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aims to review the midterm results of surgical repair of anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) in our center and assess the postoperative cardiac function recovery and misdiagnosis. METHOD Patients who underwent repair of ALCAPA between January 2005 and January 2022 at our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS A total of 136 patients underwent repair of ALCAPA, among which 49.3% were misdiagnosed before referral to our hospital. On multivariable logistic regression analysis, patients with low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (odds ratio = 0.975, p = 0.018) were at increased risk for misdiagnosis. The median age at surgery was 0.83 years (range, 0.08 to 56 years), and the median LVEF was 52% (range, 5% to 86%). The mortality rate was 6.6% (n = 9), and four patients underwent reintervention. The median postoperative recovery time of left ventricular function (LVF) was 10 days (1 to 692 days). Competing risk analysis revealed that a low preoperative LVEF (hazard ratio = 1.067, p < 0.001) and age younger than 1 year (hazard ratio = 0.522, p = 0.007) were risk factors for a longer postoperative recovery time of LVF. During the follow-up period, 91.9% (113/123) of the patients had no aggravation of mitral regurgitation. CONCLUSION The perioperative and intermediate outcomes after ALCAPA repair were favorable, but preoperative misdiagnosis deserved attention, especially in patients with low LVEF. LVF normalized in most patients, but patients younger than 1 year and with low LVEF required longer recovery times.

Abstract
All two-dimensional (2D) materials of group IV elements from Si to Pb are stabilized by carrier doping and interface bonding from substrates except graphene which can be free-standing. The involvement of strong hybrid of bonds, adsorption of exotic atomic species, and the high concentration of crystalline defects are often unavoidable, complicating the measurement of the intrinsic properties. In this work, we report the discovery of seven kinds of hitherto unreported bulk compounds (RO)nPb (R = rare earth metals, n = 1,2), which consist of quasi-2D Pb square nets that are spatially and electronically detached from the [RO]δ+ blocking layers. The band structures of these compounds near Fermi levels are relatively clean and dominantly contributed by Pb, resembling the electron-doped free-standing Pb monolayer. The R2O2Pb compounds are metallic at ambient pressure and become superconductors under high pressures with much enhanced critical fields. In particular, Gd2O2Pb (9.1 μB/Gd) exhibits an interesting bulk response of lattice distortion in conjunction with the emergence of superconductivity and magnetic anomalies at a critical pressure of 10 GPa. Our findings reveal the unexpected facets of 2D Pb sheets that are considerably different from their bulk counterparts and provide an alternative route for exploring 2D properties in bulk materials.

Abstract
Objectives To explore the risk factors associated with postoperative hypoxaemia in elderly patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and underwent hip fracture surgery in the short term. Design Multicentre retrospective study. Setting The study was performed in three first 3A-grade hospitals in China. Participants A sequential sampling method was applied to select study participants. Medical records of 392 patients aged ≥65 years who had recovered from COVID-19 and underwent hip fracture surgery at three hospitals in China between 1 November, 2022, and 15 February, 2023, were reviewed. Interventions Patients were assigned to hypoxaemia or non-hypoxaemia groups, according to whether hypoxaemia occurred after surgery. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify independent risk factors for postoperative hypoxaemia. Results The incidence of postoperative hypoxaemia was 38.01%. Statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in terms of age, body mass index (BMI), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification, presence of expectoration symptoms, preoperative hypoxaemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary inflammation, time between recovery from COVID-19 and surgery, anaesthetic mode, surgical procedure, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative infusion, duration of surgery, and length of hospital stay (p < 0.05). Furthermore, patients with BMI ≥28.0 kg/m2, expectoration symptoms, presence of preoperative hypoxaemia, ASA classification III, time between recovery from COVID-19 and surgery ≤2 weeks, and general anaesthesia were potential risk factors for postoperative hypoxaemia. Conclusion Obesity, expectoration symptoms, preoperative hypoxaemia, ASA classification III, time between recovery from COVID-19 and surgery ≤2 weeks, and general anaesthesia were potential risk factors for postoperative hypoxaemia in elderly patients who recovered from COVID-19 and underwent hip fracture surgery in the short term.

Abstract
Boron is considered extremely depleted inside Earth's mantle. It is therefore a great challenge to elucidate the prevalence of boron impurity seen in sublithospheric diamonds, especially in identifying the boron source and the mechanism for its incorporation into these enigmatic diamonds. Here, we unveil a pathway for the crystallization of boron-bearing diamonds via redox reactions of carbonates and borides at pressure-temperature conditions relevant to the Earth's lower mantle. We present computational results along with pertinent experimental evidence for a genesis of boron-bearing diamonds via the redox reaction of CaCO3 and FeB at 22.5 GPa and 2100 K, corresponding to the geological conditions at the top of the lower mantle. The present findings offer a viable mechanism for the formation of boron-bearing diamonds deep inside the Earth's mantle.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Surgical aortic valvuloplasty (SAV) and balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV) are two main treatments for children with isolated congenital aortic stenosis (CAS). We aim to compare the two procedures' midterm outcomes, including valve function, survival, reintervention, and replacement. METHODS From January 2004 to January 2021, children with isolated CAS undergoing SAV (n = 40) and BAD (n = 49) at our institution were included in this study. Patients were also categorized into subgroups based on the aortic leaflet number(Tricuspid = 53, Bicuspid = 36) to compare the two procedures' outcomes. Clinical and echocardiogram data were analyzed to identify risk factors for suboptimal outcomes and reintervention. RESULTS Postoperative peak aortic gradient (PAG) and PAG at follow-up in the SAV group were lower compared with the BAV group (p < 0.001, p = 0.001, respectively). There was no difference in moderate or severe AR in the SAV group compared with the BAV group before discharge (5.0% vs 12.2%, p = 0.287) and at the last follow-up (30.0% vs 32.7%, p = 0.822). There were no early death but three late deaths (SAV = 2, BAV = 1). Kaplan-Meier estimated survivals were 86.3% and 97.8% in SAV and BAV groups respectively at 10 years (p = 0.54). There was no significant difference in freedom from reintervention (p = 0.22). For patients with bicuspid aortic valve morphology, SAV achieved higher freedom from reintervention (p = 0.011) and replacement (p = 0.019). Multivariate analysis indicated that residual PAG was a risk factor for reintervention (p = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS SAV and BAV achieved excellent survival and freedom from reintervention in patients with isolated CAS. SAV performed better in PAG reduction and maintenance. For patients with bicuspid AoV morphology, SAV was the preferred choice.

Abstract
In this study, a borate hyper-crosslinked polymer was synthesized by crosslinking 1-naphthalene boric acid and dimethoxymethane via the Friedel-Crafts reaction. The prepared polymer exhibits excellent adsorption performance toward alkaloids and polyphenols with maximum adsorption capacities ranging from 25.07 to 39.60 mg/g. Adsorption kinetics and isotherms model results indicated the adsorption was a monolayer and chemical process. Under the optimal extraction conditions, a sensitive method was established for the simultaneous quantification of alkaloids and polyphenols in green tea and Coptis chinensis by coupling with the proposed sorbent and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography detection. The proposed method exhibited a wide linear range of 5.0-5000.0 ng/ml with R2 ≥ 0.99, a low limit of detection (0.66-11.25 ng/ml), and satisfactory recoveries (81.2%-117.4%). This work provides a simple and convenient candidate for the sensitive determination of alkaloids and polyphenols in green tea and complex herbal products.

Abstract
Elemental boron has evoked substantial interest owing to its chemical complexity in nature. It can form multicenter bonds due to its electron deficiency, which induces the formation of various stable and metastable allotropes. The search for allotropes is attractive for finding functional materials with fascinating properties. Using first-principles calculations with evolutionary structure search, we have explored boron-rich K-B binary compounds under pressure. A series of dynamically stable structures (Pmm2 KB5, Pmma KB7, Immm KB9, and Pmmm KB10) containing boron framework with open channels are predicted, which can possibly be synthesized under high pressure and high temperature conditions. After the removal of K atoms, we obtain four novel boron allotropes, o-B14, o-B15, o-B36, and o-B10, which exhibit dynamical, thermal, and mechanical stability at ambient pressure. Among them, o-B14 contains an unusual B7 pentagonal bipyramid and appears in a bonding combination of seven-center-two-electron (7c-2e) B-B π bonds, which is the first time to be identified in three-dimensional boron allotropes. Interestingly, our calculation reveals that o-B14 can act as a superconductor with a Tc value of 29.1 K under ambient conditions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the content of vitamin K_2 in different types of fermented bean products and analyze the difference of vitamin K_(2 )content. METHODS A total of 98 kinds of typical fermented bean products were included in Chinese traditional fermented bean products(Douchi, Sufu, soybean paste). Process, region, sales volume, raw materials and flavor were considered, and the content of vitamin K_2 in fermented bean products was determined by high performance liquid chromatography. RESULTS Chinese bean fermented foods generally contained vitamin K_2, and the subtype menaquinone-7(MK-7)was the main one. The content of vitamin K_2 in Douchi was the highest(437.55 μg/100 g), the content of vitamin K_2 in Sufu and Soybean paste were lower(7.48 μg/100 g and 2.47 μg/100 g). The content of vitamin K_2 in bacterial Douchi was higher than that in Mucor type and Aspergillus oryzae type which were 403.94, 232.98 and 81.00 μg/100 g(P<0.05). Soybean type Douchi was higher than that in black bean type of Douchi which were 610.41, 178.08 μg/100 g(P<0.05), and the content of vitamin K_2 in dry Douchi was higher than the content of vitamin K_2 in water Douchi which were 1 517.45 μg/100 g, 297.58 μg/100 g(P<0.05). However, there were no significant difference in the content of vitamin K_2 in Soybean paste and Sufu in different types and regions(P > 0.05). CONCLUSION Vitamin K_2 is widely contained in Chinese fermented bean products, and its content is mainly affected by fermentation microorganisms and processing technology.

Abstract
Plastics production has been increasing over years, while their recycling rate is lower, resulting in huge amounts of microplastics (MP) accumulating in the environment. Although the environmental behaviors of MPs have been focused on in recent years, the migration, distribution and adverse effects of MPs in terrestrial and aquatic environments are still not systematically understood. In this review, based on the newest publications from the core database of the Web of Science, both the migration and distribution of MPs were summarized, as well as MPs transfer in biota and their biological effects were also focused on. Generally, the complicated and numerous pathways of MPs migration lead to their distribution throughout or nearly all environments on a global scale. However, the migration mechanisms of MPs with various sizes, shapes, and colors by physicochemical and biological processes, and the prediction models of MP migration and distribution, are deficient, despite these properties being highly related to MPs migration and bio-safety. Although MPs have already invaded microorganisms, plants, animals, and even human beings, the biological effects still need more study, so far as their sizes and shapes and also their composition and adsorption are concerned. Moreover, based on the highlights and deficiencies of current studies, further studies have also been proposed. This review aims to help people re-evaluate the uncertain behaviors of MPs in various environments, and could be helpful to fully understand their biological effects in different environmental conditions.

Abstract
This study was to investigate blood lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) levels and time trend in rural Chinese children derived from the China Nutrition and Health Survey 2002 and 2012 (CNHS 2002, CNHS 2012). In total, 1698 and 1581 of rural Chinese children were selected from the CNHS 2002 and the CNHS 2012 databases, respectively. The blood Pb and Cd levels were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), whilst the prevalence of blood Pb levels >5 µg/dL and blood Cd levels >0.5 µg/L and the corresponding reference values (RV95s: the upper limit of 95% confidence interval of 95th percentile) were together calculated. From the CNHS 2002 to the CNHS 2012, median concentrations in blood were severally decreased from 6.3 to 3.1 µg/dL for Pb and from 0.64 to 0.39 µg/L for Cd. The prevalence of blood Pb levels >5 µg/dL had decreased from 63.6 to 14.2%, together with blood Cd levels >0.5 µg/L prevalence from 62.7 to 33.5%, respectively. The RV95s of blood Pb and Cd levels were 15.2 µg/dL and 1.54 µg/L in the CNHS 2002, as well as 6.3 µg/dL and 1.12 µg/L in the CNHS 2012. In conclusion, blood Pb and Cd levels had been obviously improved in rural Chinese children during the past 10 years. However, the risks of Pb and Cd exposure are still serious and required to have continuous health monitoring and evaluation, even call for greater collaboration of the government and society.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and trends in death after thoracotomy in children with congenital heart disease (CHD). METHODS The clinical data of children with CHD aged 0-14 years who died after thoracotomy in our hospital from January 1, 2005, to December 31, 2020, were retrospectively collected to analyze the characteristics of and trends in postoperative death. RESULTS A total of 502 patients (365 males; 72.7%) died from January 1, 2005, to December 31, 2020, with an average of 31 deaths per year. For these patients, the median age was 2.0 months, the median length of hospital stay was 16.0 days, the median postoperative time to death was 5.0 days, and the median risk adjustment in congenital heart surgery-1 (RACHS-1) score was 3.0. 29.5% underwent emergency surgery, 16.9% had postoperative ECMO support, and 15.9% received postoperative blood purification treatment. In the past 16 years, the deaths of children with CHD under 1 year old accounted for 80.5% of all deaths among children with CHD aged 0-14 years, and deaths (349 cases) under 6 kg accounted for 69.5% of all deaths. Age at death, weight, and disease type were characterized by annual changes. CONCLUSIONS The postoperative deaths of children with CHD mainly occurred in infants and toddlers who weighed less than 6.0 kg, and TGA and PA were the most lethal CHDs. The proportion of deaths has been increasing across the years among patients who are young, have a low body weight, and have complex cyanotic CHD.

Abstract
Objective: To conduct a visual analysis of the literature on burn-related coagulation dysfunction and to explore the current research status, evolution process, hot topics, and future research trends in burn-related coagulation dysfunction at home and abroad. Methods: The bibliometrics method was used. The literature on burn-related coagulation dysfunction which were published in Web of Science and China National Knowledge Internet databases from January 1, 1950 to May 1, 2022, and met the inclusion criteria were retrieved for publication volume analysis. The literature on burn-related coagulation dysfunction were retrieved as above in the core collection of Web of Science and China National Knowledge Internet databases, and CiteSpace 5.8.R3 software was used to perform co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis, and literature co-citation analysis of key words. Results: A total of 501 and 235 literature on burn-related coagulation dysfunction were retrieved from Web of Science database and China National Knowledge Internet database, respectively. The literature on burn-related coagulation dysfunction emerged from 1975 and 1950, respectively, in China and abroad, which were gradually increased later. The frequency and centrality of Chinese key words such as , , were high in 235 literature in China National Knowledge Internet database, and the frequency and centrality of key words such as burn, coagulation, and deep vein thrombosis were high in 340 literature in the core collection of Web of Science database. In China National Knowledge Internet database, the top 6 Chinese key words in terms of burst intensity were , , , , , , and the first 3 among which were burst key words in the early stage; and in the core collection of Web of Science database, the key words with higher burst intensity were disseminated intravascular coagulation and pulmonary embolism, which were the burst key words in the early stage. The representative clustering labels in China National Knowledge Internet database were #0 , #1 , and #2 , etc., and the representative clustering labels in the core collection of Web of Science database were #0 risk, #1 surgical patient, and #2 sepsis. Early researches in China National Knowledge Internet database and the core collection of Web of Science database focused on the presence of burn-related coagulation dysfunction itself, while the late researches focused on the relationship between burn-related coagulation dysfunction and inflammation, immunity, coagulation in general, and wounds. From 2010 onwards, there were a large number of core cited literature in the core collection of Web of Science database, and the prevention and treatment of vein thromboembolism was the most popular research direction in recent years. The researches on optimization and standardization of diagnostic methods and the overall mechanism of burn-related coagulation dysfunction would be the main research directions in the future. Conclusions: The research hotspots and evolution processes of burn-related coagulation dysfunction at home and abroad have both similarities and differences, and the current research hotspot is the relationship between coagulation and inflammation, immunity. With researches increasingly deepening, the researches on optimization and standardization of diagnostic methods and the overall mechanism of burn-related coagulation dysfunction will be the main research directions in the future.

Abstract
PURPOSE We re-explored the basal iodine requirement based on healthy Chinese female and a new iodine overflow theory was proposed for iodine balance study. METHODS Thirty-six Chinese healthy female adults (age 20.7 ± 1.1) were recruited for this study, which included 40 days low iodine depletion period and six stages of 30 days supplementation period. Uniform diets with low iodine were provided and the content of iodine in the diet was regulated by dairy products. The total iodine intake from food and the total iodine excretion through 24-h urine and staged feces were completely gathered and monitored. The incremental (Δ) intake and excretion over the range were calculated. RESULTS The iodine intake and excretion were 13.6 μg/day and 48.6 μg/day at the first stage, respectively. The incremental iodine intakes and excretions were 21.1 μg/day to 120.3 μg/day and 25.8 μg/day to 105.4 μg/day for the supplementation stages, respectively. According to the 'iodine overflow theory', the zero iodine balance (Δ iodine intake = Δ iodine excretion) derived from a mixed effect model indicated a mean iodine intake of 52.2 μg/d (1.0 μg/d kg). The RNI for iodine to healthy Chinese female adult was 73.1 μg/d (1.4 μg/d kg). CONCLUSION A daily iodine intake of 52.2 μg/d may meet the basal iodine requirement for healthy Chinese female adults, and Chinese female may need more than 20% iodine intake than male based on the 'iodine overflow theory'. The trial was registered at the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry in May 2018 (No: ChiCTR1800016184).

Abstract
With the spatial structure of urban agglomerations, well-developed transportation networks and close economic ties can increase the risk of intercity transmission of infectious diseases. To reveal the epidemic transmission mechanism in urban agglomerations and to explore the effectiveness of traffic control measures, this study proposes an Urban-Agglomeration-based Epidemic and Mobility Model (UAEMM) based on the reality of urban transportation networks and population mobility factors. Since the model considers the urban population inflow, along with the active intracity population, it can be used to estimate the composition of urban cases. The model was applied to the Chang-Zhu-Tan urban agglomeration, and the results show that the model can better simulate the transmission process of the urban agglomeration for a certain scale of epidemic. The number of cases within the urban agglomeration is higher than the number of cases imported into the urban agglomeration from external cities. The composition of cases in the core cities of the urban agglomeration changes with the adjustment of prevention and control measures. In contrast, the number of cases imported into the secondary cities is consistently greater than the number of cases transmitted within the cities. A traffic control measures discount factor is introduced to simulate the development of the epidemic in the urban agglomeration under the traffic control measures of the first-level response to major public health emergency, traffic blockades in infected areas, and public transportation shutdowns. If none of those traffic control measures had been taken after the outbreak of COVID-19, the number of cases in the urban agglomeration would theoretically have increased to 3879, which is 11.61 times the actual number of cases that occurred. If only one traffic control measure had been used alone, each of the three measures would have reduced the number of cases in the urban agglomeration to 30.19 %-57.44 % of the theoretical values of infection cases, with the best blocking effect coming from the first-level response to major public health emergency. Traffic control measures have a significant effect in interrupting the spread of COVID-19 in urban agglomerations. The methodology and main findings presented in this paper are of general interest and can also be used in studies in other countries for similar purposes to help understand the spread of COVID-19 in urban agglomerations.

Abstract
Based on the solid–liquid two-phase flow model, SST k-ω model, and Lagrangian equation model of particle motion, numerical simulations of the sediment–water flow in the injector of a large Pelton turbine were conducted. The distribution rules of pressure, velocity, erosion rate, and erosion location of the injector were obtained by analyzing the sediment–water flow characteristics and sediment erosion distribution characteristics of the injector. The results revealed that the velocity distribution trend of the water inside the cylindrical jet exhibited a nonlinear distribution, and the phenomenon of “velocity deficit” occurred at the end of the needle guide and needle tip, resulting in a decrease in the jet quality of the injector. The sediment particle diameter affected the erosion rate of the needle and erosion location of the needle and nozzle port ring. This study provided guidance for sediment erosion analysis and the prediction of the utility of large Pelton turbines.

Abstract
A thorough assessment of thermal properties in heterogeneous subsurface is necessary in design of low-temperature borehole heat exchangers (BHEs). A distributed thermal response test (DTRT), which combines distributed temperature sensing (DTS) with a conventional thermal response test (TRT), was conducted in a U-bend geothermal loop installed in an open borehole at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to estimate thermal properties by analyzing the thermal response of different geologic materials while applying a constant heat input rate. Fiber-optic cables in the DTRT were deployed both inside the U-bend geothermal loop and in the center of the borehole to improve the accuracy of calculated heat-loss rates and borehole temperature profile measurements. To assess the subsurface thermal conductivity during the heating phase of the DTRT, a single-source model and a multi-source model, both based on the infinite line source method, were developed using the borehole temperature data and temperatures inside and along the outside of the loop, separately. The two models returned similar thermal conductivity values. The multi-source modeling has the advantage of predicting the thermal conductivity of heterogeneous geologic materials from borehole temperature profiles during the DTRT heating phase. In addition, based on the distributed thermal conductivity measured in the borehole, estimates were made for both radial thermal impacts and the rate of heat loss in the BHE.

Abstract
This experiment evaluated the standard ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids (AA) in 8 different sources of wheat fed to broilers and established prediction equations based on the chemical properties of wheat. A total of five hundred forty 1-day-old broilers were tested in 2 stages (from d 10 to 13 and from d 25 to 28). On d 13, 324 broilers were randomly assigned to 9 diets (6 replicate cages, 6 broilers per cage); on d 28, 216 broilers were randomly assigned to 9 diets (6 replicate cages, 4 broilers per cage). The 9 experimental diets included 8 test diets and 1 nitrogen-free diet. Titanium dioxide was added as an exogenous indicator at 0.5% of the diet. In 8 wheat samples, the mean values of total amino acids (TAA), dispensable amino acids (DAA), and indispensable amino acids (IAA) were 12.16% (CV 13.70%), 7.97% (CV 15.49%), and 4.20% (CV 11.47%). On d 13, the lowest SID of AA was Lys (86.71%), and the highest was Pro (97.98%). On d 28, the lowest SID of AA was His (81.31%), and the highest was Pro (96.83%). There was an effect of wheat source on the SID of AA except for Trp (P < 0.05); the broiler age had an effect on the SID of AA except for Tyr (P < 0.05); the SID of most AA were higher at d 13 compared to d 28. At d 13, the SID of AA was correlated with CP, NDF, and ST (P < 0.05). At d 28, the SID of AA was correlated with EE, Ash, ADF, and NDF (P < 0.05). The R2 value of stepwise regression equations to predict the SID of AA at d 13 was highest for Leu (R2 = 0.972), lowest for Asp (R2 = 0.785); at d 28 was highest for Gly (R2 = 0.995), lowest for His (R2 = 0.678). In conclusion, this experiment showed that the chemical properties of wheat can be used to establish accurate equations for predicting the SID of AA. This made it more efficient to obtain the SID of AA for wheat.

Abstract
To identify risk factors of admission deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with traumatic fractures. Medical records of 1596 patients with traumatic fractures were reviewed. According to the ultrasound reports of the lower extremity veins, patients were assigned to the DVT or non-DVT group. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify the independent risk factors of DVT, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the predictive value of the D-dimer level for DVT. DVT admission incidence was 20.67%. Statistically significant differences were revealed between the 2 groups in terms of age, sex, fracture site, presence of hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke, smoking status, time from injury to admission, and levels of fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin, fibrinogen, D-dimer, and hematocrit. Multivariate analysis results showed that age above 50 years, female, above-knee fracture, cigarette smoking, injury-to-admission delay beyond 48 h, low hemoglobin levels, high fasting blood glucose levels, and high D-dimer levels were independent risk factors for admission DVT. ROC analysis showed that the D-dimer level was effective for the prediction of admission DVT in patients with peri-knee and below-knee fractures (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.7296, cutoff point = 1.21 mg/L). An age over 50 years, female, above-knee fracture, smoking, injury-to-admission delay beyond 48 h, decreased hemoglobin level, and increased fasting blood glucose and D-dimer levels were found to be potential independent risk factors for admission DVT. In patients with peri-knee and below-knee fractures, the plasma D-dimer level was effective in predicting admission DVT.

Abstract
Background The occurrence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) is related to the disorder of immune microenvironment. Cuprotosis was reported to influence the immune microenvironment. The objective of this study is to identify cuprotosis-related genes involved in the pathogenesis and progression of AAA. Methods Differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) and mRNAs (DEmRNAs) in mouse were identified following AAA through high-throughput RNA sequencing. The enrichment analyses of pathway were selected through Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). The validation of cuprotosis-related genes was conducted through immunofluorescence and western blot analyses. Results Totally, 27616 lncRNAs and 2189 mRNAs were observed to be differentially expressed (|Fold Change| ≥ 2 and q< 0.05) after AAA, including 10424 up-regulated and 17192 down-regulated lncRNAs, 1904 up-regulated and 285 down-regulated mRNAs. Gene ontology and KEGG pathway analysis showed that the DElncRNAs and DEmRNAs were implicated in many different biological processes and pathways. Furthermore, Cuprotosis-related genes (NLRP3, FDX1) were upregulated in the AAA samples compared with the normal one. Conclusion Cuprotosis-related genes (NLRP3,FDX1) involved in AAA immune environment might be critical for providing new insight into identification of potential targets for AAA therapy.

Abstract
A type of MCM-41 supported dicationic imidazolium ionic liquid nanocatalyst has been synthesized and found to be competent for the synthesis of 2-oxazolidinones through the sustainable chemical conversion of CO2 with aziridines. It was shown that the highest efficiency was achieved in the cycloaddition of a series of aziridines and CO2 in the presence of a catalytic amount of the solid catalyst MCM-41@ILLaCl4 under mild conditions. Merits of this meticulously designed protocol are the use of a novel supported ionic liquid catalyst, the easy work-up process, good to excellent yields, a short reaction time, and purification without column chromatography. Overall, the present protocol of synthesizing 2-oxazolidinones under cocatalyst- and solvent-free conditions using MCM-41@ILLaCl4 is promising for industrial applications.
