Abstract
The increasing use of sodium glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) for treating cardiovascular (CV) diseases and type 2 diabetes (T2D) is accompanied by a rise in euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis occurrences in cardiac surgery patients. Patients undergoing cardiac surgery, due to their pre-existing CV disease which often requires SGLT2i prescriptions, face an increased risk of postoperative metabolic acidosis (MA) or ketoacidosis (KA) associated with SGLT2i, compounded by fasting and surgical stress. The primary aim of this study is to quantify the incidence of SGLT2i-related postoperative MA or KA and to identify related risk factors. We analyzed data retrospectively of 823 cardiac surgery patients, including 46 treated with SGLT2i from November 2019 to October 2022. Among 46 final cohorts treated preoperatively with SGLT2i, 29 (63%) developed postoperative metabolic complications. Of these 46 patients, stratified into two categories based on postoperative laboratory findings, risk factor analysis were conducted and compared. Analysis indicated a prescription duration over one week significantly elevated the risk of complications (Unadjusted OR, 11.7; p = 0.032*; Adjusted OR, 31.58; p = 0.014*). A subgroup analysis showed that a cardiopulmonary bypass duration of 60 min or less significantly raises the risk of SGLT2i-related postoperative MA in patients with a sufficient prescription duration. We omitted the term "diabetes" in describing complications related to SGLT2i, as these issues are not exclusive to T2D patients. Awareness of SGLT2i-related postoperative MA or KA can help clinicians distinguish between non-life-threatening conditions and severe causes, thereby preventing unnecessary tests and ensuring best practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Macrophages promote angiogenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance in several cancers. Similarly, TonEBP/NFAT5 induces metastasis in renal carcinoma and colon cancer cells. However, the role of this transcription factor and that of macrophages in lung cancer cells remains unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of macrophages and TonEBP/NFAT5 expression on cisplatin resistance and migration in A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells. RESULTS A549 cells were cultured alone or indirectly co-cultured with THP-1-derived macrophages using a transwell culture chamber. Cisplatin-induced cell death was markedly decreased and migration increased in co-cultured A549 cells. Macrophage-conditioned media (CM) showed a similar effect on drug resistance and migration. Cisplatin-induced apoptosis, DNA fragmentation, and cleaved apoptotic proteins PARP and caspase-3 were markedly reduced in macrophage CM-induced A549 cells. Here, ERK, p38, JNK, and NF-κB activities were increased by macrophage CM. Furthermore, the proteins involved in cisplatin resistance and cancer cell migration were identified using specific inhibitors of each protein. ERK and NF-κB inhibition considerably reduced cisplatin resistance. The increase in macrophage CM-induced migration was partially reduced by treatment with ERK, JNK, and NF-κB inhibitors. TonEBP/NFAT5 expression was increased by macrophages, resulting in increased cisplatin resistance, cell migration, and invasion. Moreover, RNAi-mediated knockdown of TonEBP/NFAT5 reduced cisplatin resistance, migration, and invasion in macrophage CM-induced A549 cells. CONCLUSIONS These findings demonstrate that paracrine factors secreted from macrophages can change A549 cells, resulting in the induction of drug resistance against cisplatin and migration. In addition, the TonEBP/NFAT5 ratio, increased by macrophages, is an important regulator of the malignant transformation of cells.

Abstract
PURPOSE Asymptomatic patients with clinically non-functional pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (CNF-PitNETs) are usually followed up. However, the natural course of CNF-PitNETs according to sex and age remains unclear. Therefore, this study assessed growth patterns of CNF-PitNETs according to sex and age. METHODS In this longitudinal study, we enrolled 431 consecutive patients with CNF-PitNETs who were treated at Seoul National University Hospital from 1997 to 2021. The patients underwent hormone function testing and visual field testing, and were subsequently followed up with imaging over a median duration of 66 months. RESULTS The median age of the patients was 53.0 years, and 37.1% (n = 160) were men. Men were older and harbored more macroadenomas than women. The annual tumor volume change was higher in men than in women (0.21 vs. 0.04 cm3/year, P < 0.001). The estimated cutoff value of age for significant tumor growth was 51 years. In men, the annual tumor volume change was similar across all age groups. In women, those aged ≤ 50 years showed significantly lower annual tumor volume change than those aged > 50 years (0.01, 0.11, and 0.17 cm3/year, P = 0.001). When comparing sexes within the same age group, the annual tumor volume changes was significantly lower for women than for men, only in patients aged ≤ 50 years (0.01 vs. 0.15 cm3/year, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Among patients with CNF-PitNET, tumor growth was slower in women aged ≤ 50 years than in men and women aged > 50. These findings may guide the customization of surveillance strategies for CNF-PitNETs according to sex and age.

Abstract
An indirect-drive inertial fusion experiment on the National Ignition Facility was driven using 2.05 MJ of laser light at a wavelength of 351 nm and produced 3.1±0.16 MJ of total fusion yield, producing a target gain G=1.5±0.1 exceeding unity for the first time in a laboratory experiment [Phys. Rev. E 109, 025204 (2024)10.1103/PhysRevE.109.025204]. Herein we describe the experimental evidence for the increased drive on the capsule using additional laser energy and control over known degradation mechanisms, which are critical to achieving high performance. Improved fuel compression relative to previous megajoule-yield experiments is observed. Novel signatures of the ignition and burn propagation to high yield can now be studied in the laboratory for the first time.

Abstract
In this nationwide population-based cohort study, we investigated the demographic and clinical characteristics associated with hydroxychloroquine retinopathy screening using the National Health Insurance Review and Assessment database in South Korea. This study included a total of 32,732 at-risk patients, identified based on having been prescribed hydroxychloroquine for at least 6 months, and 15,477 long-term (> 5 years) users between January 2010 and December 2020. Participants were categorized based on the performance of baseline examinations (within 1 year of hydroxychloroquine use) and monitoring examinations (after 5 years of hydroxychloroquine use). Demographic and clinical factors, including hospitals and medical specialties prescribing hydroxychloroquine, indications for hydroxychloroquine use, and prescription details, were compared between groups. Significant differences were found in sex, residence, departments and hospitals (primary vs. referral centers) where hydroxychloroquine was prescribed, diagnosis for hydroxychloroquine therapy, and mean daily dose between patients who did and did not undergo baseline or monitoring examinations (all P < 0.01). Patients who received hydroxychloroquine prescriptions from referral hospitals were more likely to undergo baseline and monitoring examinations compared to those from primary clinics (both P < 0.001). Additionally, patients who received hydroxychloroquine prescriptions from the rheumatology department and had systemic lupus erythematosus were more likely to undergo baseline and monitoring examinations compared to other patients (all P < 0.001). There were notable differences in the number of modalities used for retinopathy screening between primary and referral centers (P < 0.001). Our findings suggest that several clinical factors related to hydroxychloroquine prescription and screening centers are associated with retinopathy screening practices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Pheochromocytomas (PHEOs) are chromaffin cell-derived adrenal tumors. 6-[ 18 F]-L-fluoro-L-3, 4-dihydroxyphenylalanine ( 18 F-FDOPA) is a radiotracer taken up in neuroendocrine chromaffin cells via the L-type amino-acid transporter. 18 F-FDOPA is useful in patients with PHEO. However, more information about the use of 18 F-FDOPA PET/CT scan is needed. Thus, the current study investigated various PET parameters on preoperative 18 F-FDOPA PET/CT scan. METHODS The 18 F-FDOPA PET/CT scan findings of 29 patients who underwent adrenalectomy after PET/CT scans were evaluated according to their pathologic diagnosis. Thereafter, the patients were classified under different risk groups which were compared based on the Grading System for Adrenal Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma (GAPP). RESULTS In terms of histopathologic results after surgery, 24 patients presented with PHEO. The remaining 5 patients were diagnosed with adrenal cortical adenomas or adrenal medullary hyperplasia. The maximum standardized uptake value, mean standardized uptake value, tumor-to-liver ratio, and tumor-to-contralateral adrenal gland ratio of PHEOs on preoperative 18 F-FDOPA PET/CT scan were higher than those of other tumors. The metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion uptake of PHEOs in the intermediate-risk group (n = 19) were higher than those in the low-risk group (n = 5). The MTV and total lesion uptake were significantly correlated with the GAPP score. CONCLUSION Preoperative 18 F-FDOPA PET/CT is helpful to identifying PHEOs. In addition, imaging interpretation using the standardized uptake value of the suspected tumor or the tumor-to-liver/contralateral adrenal gland ratio can be effective. The metabolic parameters of PHEOs are positively correlated with the GAPP score.

Abstract
About 6.2 million adults in the United States suffer from heart failure (HF). For patients with advanced HF refractory to medical therapy, an orthotopic heart transplant or a ventricular assist device (VAD) is the only long-term survival option. The most commonly used form of these devices is the left VAD (LVAD), implanted to support the left ventricle. As many as 2754 LVADs were implanted annually between 2006 and 2015, allowing recipients to maintain a relatively normal lifestyle, including both elective and emergency dental care in the ambulatory setting. As more LVADs are implanted, oral healthcare providers (OHCPs) are more likely to encounter these patients in an outpatient clinical setting. This study aims to educate OHCPs on the specific needs of these patients and to begin development of clinical guidelines for their dental management. A literature review using electronic resources was conducted to identify all literature relevant to the clinical topic. Appropriate literature was selected based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria, and 3 articles published between 2015 and 2020 were identified. None offered clinical practice guidelines for the care of patients with implanted LVADs. However, it is known that patients supported by an LVAD are at higher risk of thrombotic complications, which can lead to pump system failure and embolic stroke. To reduce the risk of complications, these patients are treated with anticoagulation therapy. Interruption of these drugs prior to dental treatment is not recommended. Due to the side effects of anticoagulation therapy and acquired coagulopathy, patients with an LVAD are also at increased risk of bleeding events. Thus, perioperative hemorrhagic risk during routine oral surgical procedures must be considered. While most dental care can be done in an outpatient setting, OHCPs should be aware of the special needs of these patients and provide appropriate care through close coordination with the LVAD/transplant team.

Abstract
The excited states of unstable ^{20}O were investigated via γ-ray spectroscopy following the ^{19}O(d,p)^{20}O reaction at 8 AMeV. By exploiting the Doppler shift attenuation method, the lifetimes of the 2_{2}^{+} and 3_{1}^{+} states were firmly established. From the γ-ray branching and E2/M1 mixing ratios for transitions deexciting the 2_{2}^{+} and 3_{1}^{+} states, the B(E2) and B(M1) were determined. Various chiral effective field theory Hamiltonians, describing the nuclear properties beyond ground states, along with a standard USDB interaction, were compared with the experimentally obtained data. Such a comparison for a large set of γ-ray transition probabilities with the valence space in medium similarity renormalization group ab initio calculations was performed for the first time in a nucleus far from stability. It was shown that the ab initio approaches using chiral effective field theory forces are challenged by detailed high-precision spectroscopic properties of nuclei. The reduced transition probabilities were found to be a very constraining test of the performance of the ab initio models.

Abstract
This paper presents comparative study on the composition and sources of PM2.5 in Ulaanbaatar, Beijing, and Seoul. Ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) combined with ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry (UHR-MS) were employed to analyze 85 samples collected in winter. The obtained 340 spectra were interpreted with artificial neural network (ANN). PM2.5 mass concentrations in Ulaanbaatar were significantly higher than those in Beijing and Seoul. ANN based interpretation of UPLC UHR-MS data showed that aliphatic/lipid derived organo‑sulfur compounds, polycyclic aromatic and organo‑oxygen compounds were characteristic to Ulaanbaatar. Whereas, aliphatic/lipid-derived organo‑oxygen compounds were major components in Beijing and Seoul. Aromatic organo‑nitrogen compounds were the main contributors to differentiating the spectra obtained from Beijing from the other cities. Based on two-dimensional gas chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometric (GCxGC/HRMS) data, it was determined that the concentrations of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) and polycyclic aromatic sulfur heterocycle (PASH) containing sulfur were highest in Ulaanbaatar, followed by Beijing and Seoul. Coal/biomass combustion was identified as the primary source of contamination in Ulaanbaatar, while petroleum combustion was the main contributor to PM2.5 in Beijing and Seoul. The conclusion that diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks and buses are the main contributors to NOx emissions in Beijing is consistent with previous reports. This study provides a more comprehensive understanding of the composition and sources of PM2.5 in the three cities, with a focus on the differences in their atmospheric pollution profiles based on the UPLC UHR-MS and ANN analysis. It is notable that this study is the first to utilize this method on a large-scale sample set, providing a more detailed and molecular-level understanding of the compositional differences among PM2.5. Overall, the study contributes to a better understanding of the sources and composition of PM2.5 in Northeast Asia, which is essential for developing effective strategies to reduce air pollution and improve public health.

Abstract
We search for energetic electron recoil signals induced by boosted dark matter (BDM) from the galactic center using the COSINE-100 array of NaI(Tl) crystal detectors at the Yangyang Underground Laboratory. The signal would be an excess of events with energies above 4 MeV over the well-understood background. Because no excess of events are observed in a 97.7 kg·yr exposure, we set limits on BDM interactions under a variety of hypotheses. Notably, we explored the dark photon parameter space, leading to competitive limits compared to direct dark photon search experiments, particularly for dark photon masses below 4 MeV and considering the invisible decay mode. Furthermore, by comparing our results with a previous BDM search conducted by the Super-Kamionkande experiment, we found that the COSINE-100 detector has advantages in searching for low-mass dark matter. This analysis demonstrates the potential of the COSINE-100 detector to search for MeV electron recoil signals produced by the dark sector particle interactions.

Abstract
Application of Si anodes is hindered by severe capacity fading due to pulverization of Si particles during the large volume changes of Si during charge/discharge and repeated formation of the solid-electrolyte interphase. To address these issues, considerable efforts have been devoted to the development of Si composites with conductive carbons (Si/C composites). However, Si/C composites with high C content inevitably show low volumetric capacity because of low electrode density. For practical applications, the volumetric capacity of a Si/C composite electrode is more important than gravimetric capacity, but volumetric capacity in pressed electrodes is rarely reported. Herein, a novel synthesis strategy is demonstrate for a compact Si nanoparticle/graphene microspherical assembly with interfacial stability and mechanical strength achieved by consecutively formed chemical bonds using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and sucrose. The unpressed electrode (density: 0.71 g cm-3 ) shows a reversible specific capacity of 1470 mAh g-1 with a high initial coulombic efficiency of 83.7% at a current density of 1 C-rate. The corresponding pressed electrode (density: 1.32 g cm-3 ) exhibits high reversible volumetric capacity of 1405 mAh cm-3 and gravimetric capacity of 1520 mAh g-1 with a high initial coulombic efficiency of 80.4% and excellent cycling stability of 83% over 100 cycles at 1 C-rate.

Abstract
Selectively excited o-toluidine and α-methylbenzylamine have been studied with quasi-classical trajectory procedures to determine the extent and timescales of intramolecular energy flow. The initial excitation is in the stretching mode of the para-CH bond, and its flow is initiated by interaction with an argon atom. Energy flow to the NH stretching mode is the dominant relaxation pathway, and its effectiveness is enhanced strongly by the methyl-NH interaction. Energy flow characteristics in both molecules are similar, but the flow is more effective in o-toluidine than in α-methylbenzylamine because the methyl group bonded to the benzene ring exerts stronger perturbation on the energy-flow pathway than the group bonded to the side chain. The relaxation of the initially excited CH completes on a timescale of several picoseconds, but the main part of energy flow to the NH occurs on a subpicosecond scale. In o-toluidine, carbon-carbon overtone modes lead to ring-CC bonds gaining and transporting more energy than high-frequency CH bonds, but they all gain far less energy than the NH stretching mode.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Respiratory microbiome studies have fostered our understanding of various phenotypes and endotypes of heterogeneous asthma. However, the relationship between the respiratory microbiome and clinical phenotypes in children with asthma remains unclear. We aimed to identify microbiome-driven clusters reflecting the clinical features of asthma and their dominant microbiotas in children with asthma. METHODS Induced sputum was collected from children with asthma, and microbiome profiles were generated via sequencing of the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene. Cluster analysis was performed using the partitioning around medoid clustering method. The dominant microbiota in each cluster was determined using the Linear Discriminant Effect Size analysis. Each cluster was analyzed for association among the dominant microbiota, clinical phenotype, and inflammatory cytokine. RESULTS Eighty-three children diagnosed with asthma were evaluated. Among four clusters reflecting the clinical characteristics of asthma, cluster 1, dominated by Haemophilus and Neisseria, demonstrated lower post-bronchodilator (BD) forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1)/forced vital capacity (FVC) than that in the other clusters and more mixed granulocytic asthma. Neisseria negatively correlated with pre-BD and post-BD FEV1/FVC. Haemophilus and Neisseria positively correlated with programmed death-ligand (PD-L)1. CONCLUSION To our knowledge, this study is the first to analyze the relationship between an unbiased microbiome-driven cluster and clinical phenotype in children with asthma. The cluster dominated by Haemophilus and Neisseria showed fixed airflow obstruction and mixed granulocytic asthma, which correlated with PD-L1 levels. Thus, microbiome-driven unbiased clustering can help identify new asthma phenotypes related to endotypes in childhood asthma.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Hallux valgus is one of the most common chronic foot complaints, with prevalences of over 23% in adults and up to 35.7% in older adults. However, the prevalence is only 3.5% in adolescents. The pathological causes and pathophysiology of hallux valgus are well-known in various studies and reports. A change in the position of the sesamoid bone under the metatarsal bone of the first toe is known to be the cause of the initial pathophysiology. Purpose: The relationships between the changes in the location of the sesamoid bone and each radiologically measured angle and joint congruency in the hallux valgus remain as yet unknown. Therefore, this study investigated the relationships of sesamoid bone subluxation with the hallux valgus angle, intermetatarsal angle, and metatarsophalangeal joint congruency in hallux valgus patients. The goal is to know the hallux valgus angle, the intermetatarsal angle, and metatarsophalangeal joint congruency's correlation with hallux valgus severity and prognosis by revealing the relationship between each measured value and sesamoid bone subluxation. Materials and Methods: We reviewed 205 hallux valgus patients who underwent radiographic evaluation and subsequent hallux valgus correction surgery in our orthopedic clinic between March 2015 and February 2020. Sesamoid subluxation was assessed using a new five-grade scale on foot radiographs, and other radiologic measurements were assessed, such as hallux valgus angle, the intermetatarsal angle, distal metatarsal articular angle, joint congruency, etc. Conclusions: Measurements of the hallux valgus angle, interphalangeal angle, and joint congruency exhibited high interobserver and intraobserver reliabilities in this study. They also showed correlations with sesamoid subluxation grade.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the cytotoxicity and antibacterial effects of AgNP-impregnated Tetracalcium phosphate-dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (TTCP-DCPD). Materials and Methods: Using in vitro experiments, the cytotoxicity of AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD against fibroblasts and osteocytes was assessed in terms of cell viability by water-soluble tetrazolium salt assay. To assess antibacterial effects, a disc diffusion test was used; osteomyelitis was induced first in vivo, by injection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus into the tibia of rats. AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD bone cement was then applied at various silver concentrations for 3 or 12 weeks. Antibacterial effects were assessed by culturing and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). For histological observation, the bone tissues were stained using hematoxylin and eosin. Results: Cell viability was decreased by the impregnated bone cement but did not differ according to AgNP concentration. The diameter of the growth-inhibited zone of MRSA was between 4.1 and 13.3 mm on the disks treated with AgNP, indicating antimicrobial effects. In vivo, the numbers of bacterial colonies were reduced in the 12-week treatment groups compared to the 3-week treatment groups. The groups treated with a higher (10×) dose of AgNP (G2-G5) showed a tendency of lower bacterial colony counts compared to the group without AgNP (G1). The PCR analysis results showed a tendency of decreased bacterial gene expression in the AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD groups (G2-G5) compared to the group without AgNP (G1) at 3 and 12 weeks. In the H&E staining, the degree of inflammation and necrosis of the AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD groups (G2-G5) showed a tendency to be lower at 3 and 12 weeks compared to the control group. Our results suggest that AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD cement has antimicrobial effects. Conclusions: This study indicates that AgNP-impregnated TTCP-DCPD bone cement could be considered to treat osteomyelitis.

Abstract
Herein, we report the in situ synthesis of amorphous GeSe/CNT composite via defective-carbon-mediated chemical bonding for ultrastable Na-ion storage. Structural defects in CNTs play a crucial role in the chemical bonding and bonding strength in GeSe/CNTs composites. Specifically, the bonding strength tends to increase with increasing defect concentrations of CNTs. Remarkably, the strong chemical bonding between GeSe and CNTs significantly weakens Ge-Se bonds and promotes amorphization of GeSe, thus facilitating a reversible conversion reaction and enhancing Na-ion diffusion. Consequently, GeSe/CNTs composite exhibits outstanding cyclability of 87.9% even after 1000 cycles at 1 A g-1 and a high-rate capability of 288.3 mA h g-1 at 10 A g-1. Our work presents a promising approach for the amorphization of electrode materials enabled by the defective-carbon-mediated strong chemical bonding for Li-, Na-, and K-ion batteries.

Abstract
Background Placental adhesion spectrum (PAS) is a disease in which the trophoblast invades the myometrium, and is a well-known high-risk condition associated with placental previa. Aim The morbidity of nulliparous women with placenta previa without PAS disorders is unknown. Patients and Methods The data from nulliparous women who underwent cesarean delivery were collected retrospectively. The women were dichotomized into malpresentation (MP) and placenta previa groups. The placenta previa group was categorized into previa (PS) and low-lying (LL) groups. When the placenta covers the internal cervical os, it is called placenta previa, when the placenta is near the cervical os, it is called the low-lying placenta. Their maternal hemorrhagic morbidity and neonatal outcomes were analyzed and adjusted using multivariate analysis based on univariate analysis. Results A total of 1269 women were enrolled: 781 women in the MP group and 488 women in the PP-LL group. Regarding packed red blood cell transfusion, PP and LL had adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of 14.7 (95% confidence interval (CI): 6.6 - 32.5), and 11.3 (95% CI: 4.9 - 26) during admission, and 51.2 (95% CI: 22.1 - 122.7) and 10.3 (95% CI: 3.9 - 26.6) during operation, respectively. For intensive care unit admission, PS and LL had aOR of 15.9 (95% CI: 6.5 - 39.1) and 3.5 (95% CI: 1.1 - 10.9), respectively. No women had cesarean hysterectomy, major surgical complications, or maternal death. Conclusion Despite placenta previa without PAS disorders, maternal hemorrhagic morbidity was significantly increased. Thus, our results highlight the need for resources for those women with evidence of placenta previa including a low-lying placenta, even if those women do not meet PAS disorder criteria. In addition, placenta previa without PAS disorder was not associated with critical maternal complications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate macular ganglion cell complex (GCC) and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thicknesses in patients with hydroxychloroquine retinopathy of differing severity. DESIGN Cross-sectional, case-control comparison study. PARTICIPANTS From patients screened for hydroxychloroquine retinopathy between January 2016 and October 2021 using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), fundus autofluorescence (FAF), and standard automated perimetry, 66 patients with retinopathy and 66 without retinopathy were included by 1:1 propensity score matching based on age, sex, systemic diseases, history of tamoxifen and pentosan use, and kidney disease. METHODS Eyes with hydroxychloroquine retinopathy were divided into early, moderate, and severe stages. Inner-retinal thickness parameters, including macular GCC (RNFL + ganglion cell layer + inner plexiform layer) and peripapillary RNFL thicknesses, were automatically obtained using SS-OCT (DRI-OCT Triton, Topcon Inc., Japan) and compared between patients with and without retinopathy and between severity subgroups. The structure-function relationships between GCC or peripapillary RNFL thicknesses and perimetric parameters including mean deviation (MD) and visual field index (VFI) of Humphrey 30-2 test were evaluated. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Macular GCC and peripapillary RNFL thickness parameters. RESULTS The average macular GCC and peripapillary RNFL thicknesses were significantly decreased in patients with hydroxychloroquine retinopathy relative to those without retinopathy. Macular GCC thicknesses in 4 of 6 macular sectors and peripapillary RNFL thicknesses in 9 of 12 clock-hour sectors were significantly different between the groups. The differences in the average and sectoral macular GCC parameters were statistically significant among the severity subgroups, particularly between severe and earlier stages. Average macular GCC and peripapillary RNFL thicknesses significantly correlated with MD and VFI in all patients (all P < .001). CONCLUSIONS Macular GCC and peripapillary RNFL thinning was more prominent in eyes with severe hydroxychloroquine retinopathy, as indicative of inner-retinal thinning in eyes with advanced-stage disease. Further, as inner-retinal thinning showed a significant correlation with worse perimetric function, cautious evaluation of the inner retina may be required for eyes with advanced hydroxychloroquine retinopathy.

Abstract
Purpose Practical challenges are encountered in percutaneous intravascular procedures when applied to markedly angulated branching vessels. Herein, we introduced a folded-loop guidewire remodeling technique-the guidewire-shaping technique-to overcome difficult catheterization. Materials and Methods First, the tip of a 0.014-inch micro-guidewire was manually shaped like a pigtail loop. Second, the shaped guidewire was introduced into the microcatheter and was preloaded into the hollow metal introducer for suitability with the microcatheter hub. Gentle rotation of the guidewire after release from the microcatheter can create the preshaped pigtail loop configuration. On pulling back, the loop loosened, the configuration was changed to a small U-shaped tip, and the guidewire tip was easily introduced into the target artery. Results Between December 2019 and January 2022, the described technique was used in 64 patients (male/female, 49/15; mean age, 66.8 ± 9.5 years) for selective arterial embolization, after failed attempts with the conventional selection technique. The technique was successful in 63/64 patients (98%). The indications of embolization include transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemoptysis, trauma-induced bleeding, and tumor bleeding. Conclusion The folded-loop guidewire remodeling technique facilitates the catheterization of markedly angulated branching arteries; when usual catheterization method fails.

Abstract
Background
Multiple stenting in the chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions is frequently required, however associated with poorer clinical outcomes. It is demonstrated that intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided CTO-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is related to a lower risk of adverse clinical events.
Purpose
We aimed to evaluate the clinical impact of stent optimization under IVUS guidance for multiple stenting, comparing with single stenting.
Methods
A total of 916 patients receiving drug-eluting stent (DES) under IVUS guidance were classified into two groups (stent optimization and non-optimization) according to optimization criteria (an absolute expansion criteria; minimal stent area ≥4.9 mm2 and a relative expansion criteria; 80% of mean reference lumen area). Of total population, 314 patients (34.3%) were treated with single stent and 575 patients (62.7%) were treated with multiple stents, respectively. Ischemic-driven target-lesion revascularization (TLR)/reocclusion was evaluated.
Results
Under IVUS guidance, 316 patients (34.5%) met IVUS criteria for stent optimization The achieving rates were 53% in the single stent group and 24% in the multiple stents group, respectively, (p<0.001). During a median of 4.7 years, the multiple stent group showed a significantly higher TLR/reocclusion rate, compared with the single stent group (12.8% vs. 5.2%, adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 2.51, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.20–5.25, p=0.01). (Figure 1) Meeting both the absolute and relative expansion criteria was associated with a significantly low rate of TLR/reocclusion rate (12.5% vs. 5.2%, adjusted HR 0.34, 95% CI: 0.15–0.79, p=0.01). Under IVUS-guidance, there was no significant difference between multiple stenting and single stenting in case of achieving the optimization criteria (6.5% vs. 4.2%, p=0.11), whereas non-optimization group in the patients with multiple stenting showed a significantly higher rate of TLR/reocclusion, compared with IVUS-optimization group in the patients with single stenting (14.5% vs. 4.2%, p=0.002). Conclusions
In CTO-PCI with DES, multiple stenting significantly increased the risk of TLR/reocclusion. IVUS-guided optimization for multiple stenting showed a comparable long-term risk of TLR/reocclusion to single stenting with IVUS optimization. Hence, achieving IVUS expansion criteria may help to reduce the risk of TLR/reocclusion in CTO-PCI with multiple DES overlapping.

Background/Introduction
Signal-averaged electrocardiography (SA-ECG) is a high-resolution electrocardiography that can detect late ventricular potential, which known to be a noninvasive tool for risk stratification of sudden cardiac death (SCD) by predicting reentrant ventricular tachyarrhythmia. There is a paucity of data with SA-ECG on SCD survivors without structural heart disease, whereas majority of previous studies had been focused on post myocardial infarction survivors.
Purpose
This study assessed the clinical utility of SA-ECG as a risk stratification modality for lethal arrhythmic event in patients at risk of SCD without definite structural heart disease.
Methods
Total 629 patients who experienced or had potential risk of SCD were studied with SA-ECG. Among them, 48 patients who were found to have significant structural heart disease were excluded, except arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. Major arrhythmic event (MAE) was defined as composite of all-cause death, aborted SCD, and sustained VT during any time either before visit of clinic or during follow up period. Syncope and non-sustained VT was defined as non-major arrhythmic event. SA-ECG was defined positive when fulfilling three or more criterion: (1) unfiltered QRS duration ≥114ms, (2) filtered QRS duration ≥114ms, (3) duration of terminal QRS <40uV exceeding 40ms, and (4) root mean square voltage in the terminal 40ms of ≤20ms.
Results
Among total 581 patients, 145 patients with positive SA-ECG showed higher incidence of MAE compared to patients with negative SA-ECG (21.4% vs. 6.7%, OR 3.816 [95% CI 2.208–6.597], p<0.001, Table). As the number of positive SA-ECG criteria increases, incidence of MAE tended to increase sequentially, which was markedly noted from 2 positive to 3 positive criteria (10.7% to 20.8%, p<0.001, Figure). In particular, patient with inherited arrhythmia showed higher rate of positive late potential compared to those with non-inherited arrhythmia (51.0% vs. 19.3%, p<0.001).
Conclusion
This study showed that at least 3 out of 4 diagnostic criteria in SA-ECG can independently predict lethal arrhythmic events and the positive late potential was associated with lethal arrhythmic event that leads to SCD, suggesting risk prediction for SCD using SA-ECG in patients even without structural heart disease including inherited arrhythmias.

Abstract
Abstract
Background/Introduction
Brugada syndrome (BrS) and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) are inherited arrhythmias that may predispose to sudden cardiac arrest. Although its pathogenetic mechanisms differ, overlapping features between BrS and ARVC have been demonstrated previously. However, it remains to be determined whether genetic testing for ARVC-related gene is needed in patients with BrS.
Purpose
This study is aimed to analyze genetic profiles of BrS patients using next generation sequencing (NGS) based multigene panel including ARVC related genes.
Methods
Patients who were confirmed as BrS or clinically suspected as BrS with type 2 or 3 Brugada pattern electrocardiography were studied. Genetic testing using NGS panels (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA, USA) included 30 genetic variants associated with inherited arrhythmia and genetic cardiomyopathy.
Results
Among the total 119 patients from BrS registry, 63 patients were confirmed as BrS and 56 patients were clinically suspected as BrS without fulfilling diagnostic criteria. One-hundred-fourteen patients (95.8%) were male, and mean age of onset was 43.6 year-old. Genetic variants were identified in 25 of 42 patients who received genetic testing. Six out of 25 patients (24.0%) showed ARVC-related genotypes (2 PKP2, 1 DSG2, 1 TMEM43, 1 JUP, and 1 DSP) (Figure 1 and Table 1). None of the patients showed structural or electrocardiographic features that fulfill diagnostic criteria of ARVC. It is notable that ARVC-related genotypes were mostly frequently accounted for BrS patients, following SCN5A and SCN10A.
Conclusion
In the clinic setting, ARVC-related genetic variants were identified in significant proportion of BrS patients, supporting that genetic testing of ARVC-overlapping is needed. This study suggests that follow-up including imaging study should be considered in BrS patients with ARVC-related genotypes to monitor disease progression as ARVC.

Abstract
The reduced transition probabilities for the 4_{1}^{+}→2_{1}^{+} and 2_{1}^{+}→0_{1}^{+} transitions in ^{92}Mo and ^{94}Ru and for the 4_{1}^{+}→2_{1}^{+} and 6_{1}^{+}→4_{1}^{+} transitions in ^{90}Zr have been determined in this experiment making use of a multinucleon transfer reaction. These results have been interpreted on the basis of realistic shell-model calculations in the f_{5/2}, p_{3/2}, p_{1/2}, and g_{9/2} proton valence space. Only the combination of extensive lifetime information and large scale shell-model calculations allowed the extent of the seniority conservation in the N=50 g_{9/2} orbital to be understood. The conclusion is that seniority is largely conserved in the first πg_{9/2} orbital.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The evaluation of correlations among joint effusion, ligament injuries, tenosynovitis and osteochondral lesion of talus (OLT) in the ankle joint is important for developing a treatment plan and predicting prognosis. PURPOSE To evaluate correlations among tibiotalar (anterior) and talocalcaneal (posterior) joint effusion, tenosynovitis of major flexor tendons, ligaments, and OLT in a group of patients with ankle trauma. MATERIAL AND METHODS This retrospective study included 101 patients with ankle trauma who underwent magnetic resonance imaging. Two radiologists assessed the presence and amount of effusion in the tibiotalar and talocalcaneal joints from grade 0 to 2, according to the amount of capsular distension. Concomitant structural injuries were assessed in the tibialis posterior (TP), flexor digitorum longus, flexor hallucis longus, and peroneus tendons, and the anterior talofibular ligament, calcaneofibular ligament, anteroinferior tibiofibular ligament, posteroinferior tibiofibular ligament, and OLT. RESULTS The proportion of anterior and posterior joint effusion according to grade was 67.3% for anterior joint effusion grade 0, 22.8% for grade 1, and 9.9% for grade 2; for posterior joint effusion, grade 0 was 74.2%, grade 1 was 22.8%, and grade 2 was 3.0%. We found statistically significant correlations between posterior joint effusion and tenosynovitis of TP (P < 0.05) and between posterior joint effusion and OLT (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Posterior joint effusion is correlated with TP injury and OLT; however, tendon injuries have no correlation with other structural injuries of the ankle joint in a general population with ankle trauma.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Considering the impact of mental illness and cancer on the society, the relationship between the two diseases should be assessed. This study aimed at determining the association between mental illness and cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS The Embase and Medline databases were searched on October 21, 2020. Cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies were eligible for study inclusion. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to qualitatively assess the risk of bias. Funnel plots were drawn to evaluate the risks of bias across the included studies. RESULTS We included 58 studies from 16 countries, incorporating approximately 30 national databases and 25 million individuals. Patients with psychiatric disorders did not show an increased risk of developing cancer. However, patients with cancer had a significantly increased risk of developing mental illness. The survival rates of patients with mental illness according to cancer occurrence and patients with cancer according to mental illness occurrence were significantly decreased. CONCLUSIONS Clinicians should conduct early screening to ensure that appropriate interventions for mental illness are administered in patients with cancer. Due to the high incidence of death in patients with mental illnesses due to unnatural causes, such as suicide, homicide, and accidents, clinicians should be aware of the importance of the treatment and management of these patients.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of temporary transcatheter balloon occlusion of bilateral internal iliac arteries (TBOIIA) during cesarean section in a hybrid operating room (OR) for placenta previa (PP) with a high risk of massive hemorrhage. This retrospective study analyzed the medical records of 62 patients experiencing PP with a high risk of massive hemorrhage (mean age, 36.2 years; age range 28-45 years) who delivered a baby via planned cesarean section with TBOIIA in a hybrid OR between May 2019 and July 2021. Operation time, estimated blood loss (EBL), amount of intra- and postoperative blood transfusion, perioperative hemoglobin level, hospital stay after operation, balloon time, fluoroscopy time, radiation dose, rate of uterine artery embolization (UAE) and hysterectomy, and complication-related TBOIIA were assessed. The mean operation time was 122 min, and EBL was 1290 mL. Nine out of sixty-two patients (14.5%) received a blood transfusion. The mean hemoglobin levels before surgery, immediately after surgery and within 1 week after surgery were 11.3 g/dL, 10.4 g/dL and 9.2 g/dL, respectively. In terms of radiation dose, the mean dose area product (DAP) and cumulative air kerma were 0.017 Gy/cm2 and 0.023 Gy, respectively. Ten out of sixty-two patients (16.1%) underwent UAE postoperatively in the hybrid OR. One out of sixty-two patients had been diagnosed with placenta percreta with bladder invasion based on preoperative ultrasound, and thus underwent cesarean hysterectomy following TBOIIA and UAE. While intra-arterial balloon catheter placement for managing PP with a high risk of hemorrhage remains controversial, a planned cesarean section with TBOIIA in a hybrid OR is effective in eliminating the potential risk of intra-arterial balloon catheter displacement, thus reducing intraoperative blood loss, ensuring safe placental removal and conserving the uterus.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of tumor enucleation (TE) compared with partial nephrectomy (PN) for T1 renal cell carcinoma. Materials and Methods According to protocol, we searched multiple data sources for published and unpublished randomized controlled trials and nonrandomized studies (NRSs) in any language. We performed systematic review and meta-analysis according to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and rated the certainty of the evidence (CoE) using the GRADE framework. Results We are uncertain about the effects of TE on perioperative (mean difference [MD] 3.38, 95% CI 1.52 to 5.23; I2=68%; 4 NRSs; 942 participants; very low CoE) and long-term (MD 2.31, 95% CI -1.40 to 6.01; I2=57%; 4 NRSs; 542 participants; very low CoE) residual renal function. TE may result in little to no difference in short-term residual renal function (MD 1.04, 95% CI 0.25 to 1.83; I2=0%; 2 NRSs; 256 participants; low CoE). We are uncertain about the effects of TE on cancer-specific mortality (risk ratio [RR] 0.90, 95% CI: 0.11 to 7.28; I2=0%; 2 NRSs; 551 participants; very low CoE) and major adverse events (RR 0.48, 95% CI: 0.30 to 0.79; I2=0%; 10 NRS; 2,360 participants; very low CoE). Conclusions While TE appears to have similar effects on short term postoperative residual renal function, there were uncertainties on mortality and major adverse events. However, we need rigorous RCTs to elucidate the effects of TE as the evidence stems mostly from NRSs.

Abstract
Senescent cells accumulate in several tissues during ageing, including the skin, and contribute to the functional decline of the skin via the senescence-associated secretory phenotypes (SASPs) 1 . Due to the potential negative effects of SASPs during the ageing process, drugs that selectively target senescent cells or SASPs represent an important therapeutic strategy to delay skin ageing. The selective induction of cell death specifically to kill senescent cells using drugs, referred to as senolytics, is a main approach to achieve this strategy 2 .

Abstract
PURPOSE We investigated the diagnostic performance of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) as a combination of functional and anatomic imaging, in patients with unspecified chest wall pain. METHODS Fifty-two patients with unspecified chest wall pain and no history of recent major traumatic events or cardiac disease were included. The number and location of radioactive chest wall lesions were evaluated on both planar images and SPECT/CT. The clinical diagnosis was made based on all of the clinical and imaging data and follow-up information. RESULTS Chest wall diseases were diagnosed in 42 patients (80.8 %). SPECT/CT showed abnormal findings in 35 (67.3 %) patients with positive predictive value (PPV) of 97.1 %. SPECT/CT revealed 56 % more lesions than planar bone scan (P = 0.002) and most of the abnormal radioactive lesions (94.6 %) showed combined morphological changes on the matched CT component. When comparing between age subgroups (< 60 y vs. ≥ 60 y), the prevalence of chest wall disease and diagnosis rate of fracture was significantly higher in the older age group. On SPECT/CT, the older age group showed higher frequency of having abnormal finding (95.8 % vs. 42.9 %, P < 0.001) and significantly more lesions were detected (a total of 189 vs. 32, P = 0.003). CONCLUSION SPECT/CT showed good diagnostic performance and proved to have higher sensitivity, detecting 56 % more lesions than planar bone scan. A negative result could be helpful for excluding pathologic chest wall disease. SPECT/CT might be recommended for integration in to the diagnostic workup in patients with unspecified chest wall pain, especially in patients ≥ 60 y of age, considering the high disease prevalence and the high frequency of positive results.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Radiation-related cardiotoxicity has been refocused nowadays as the follow-up was increased amomg the patients with advanced lung cancer. The early recognition of the occult cardiotoxicity enables the early intervention preventing clinically significant cardiac events or worsening of severity.
Purpose
We aim to search whether the F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) performed immediately after radiotherapy could predict the late cardiac events.
Methods
We retrospectively enrolled 133 patients with locally advanced, unresectable stage III NSCLC who underwent F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) immediately after CCRT for the response evaluation and survived at least for 6 months. Heart was recontoured according to the RTOG 0617 secondary analysis atlas for the dose volume analysis. Standardized uptake values (SUV) of the left ventricular myocardium were measured on FDG PET images. The patients were regularly followed up for the disease progression and complications. The primary end-point was the cardiac events grade ≥2 based on the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (version 5.0).
Results
FDG PET was performed at median interval of 11 days after CCRT. Fourty-two patients experienced cardiotoxicity during a median follow-up of 47 months (range, 12 – 123 months). In univariable analysis, mean heart dose, maximum SUV of the left ventricle (LV SUVmax), white blood cell count, and diabetes were associated with the risk of cardiotoxicity. In multivariable analysis, only higher mean heart dose (>11.1 Gy, hazard ratio 3.930 [95% confidence interval 1.933–7.988]; p=0.0002) and higher LV SUVmax (>12.84, 2.189 [1.162–4.124]; p=0.0152) were independently associated with increased risk of cardiotoxicity. In subgroup analyses, LV SUVmax remained predictive of cardiotoxicity among those with higher mean heart dose, but not among those with lower mean heart dose.
Conclusion
Early FDG PET after CCRT for NSCLC could predict the late cardiac events, especially in patients with high dose cardiac irradiation.

Abstract
We have performed the first direct measurement of the ^{83}Rb(p,γ) radiative capture reaction cross section in inverse kinematics using a radioactive beam of ^{83}Rb at incident energies of 2.4 and 2.7A MeV. The measured cross section at an effective relative kinetic energy of E_{cm}=2.393 MeV, which lies within the relevant energy window for core collapse supernovae, is smaller than the prediction of statistical model calculations. This leads to the abundance of ^{84}Sr produced in the astrophysical p process being higher than previously calculated. Moreover, the discrepancy of the present data with theoretical predictions indicates that further experimental investigation of p-process reactions involving unstable projectiles is clearly warranted.

Abstract
Human exposure to wildfire-derived particulate matter (PM) is linked to adverse health outcomes; however, little is known regarding the influence of biomass fuel type and burn conditions on toxicity. The aim of this study was to assess the irritant potential of extractable organic material (EOM) of biomass smoke condensates from five fuels (eucalyptus, pine, pine needle, peat, or red oak), representing various fire-prone regions of the USA, burned at two temperatures each [flaming (approximately 640°C) or (smoldering approximately 500°C)] using a locomotor assay in zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae. It was postulated that locomotor responses, as measures of irritant effects, might be dependent upon fuel type and burn conditions and that these differences relate to combustion byproduct chemistry. To test this, locomotor activity was tracked for 60 min in 6-day-old zebrafish larvae (25-32/group) immediately after exposure to 0.4% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) vehicle or EOM from the biomass smoke condensates (0.3-30 µg EOM/ml; half-log intervals). All EOM samples produced concentration-dependent irritant responses. Linear regression analysis to derive rank-order potency indicated that on a µg PM basis, flaming pine and eucalyptus were the most irritating. In contrast, on an emission-factor basis, which normalizes responses to the amount of PM produced/kg of fuel burned, smoldering smoke condensates induced greater irritant responses (>100-fold) than flaming smoke condensates, with smoldering pine being the most potent. Importantly, irritant responses significantly correlated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content, but not with organic carbon or methoxyphenols. Data indicate that fuel type and burn condition influence the quantity and chemical composition of PM as well as toxicity.

Abstract
Graphene is extensively investigated for various energy storage systems. However, the very low density (<0.01 g cm-3 ) of graphene nanosheets has hindered its further applications. To solve this issue, a controlled assembly of 2D graphene building blocks should be developed into graphene microspheres with high packing density, and restacking of graphene should be prevented to ensure an electrochemically accessible surface area during the assembly. Furthermore, graphene microspheres should have multiple 1D external conductive architecture to promote contacts with the neighbors. This study reports in situ growth of novel graphene nanostructures in reduced graphene oxide microspherical assembly (denoted as GT/GnS@rGB) with restacking resistance and interparticle contacts, for electrochemical energy storage. The GT/GnS@rGB showed high gravimetric (231.8 F g-1 ) and volumetric (181.5 F cm-3 ) capacitances at 0.2 A g-1 in organic electrolyte with excellent rate capabilities of 94.3% (@ 0.2 vs 10 Ag-1 ). Furthermore, GT/GnS@rGB exhibited excellent cycling stability (96.1% of the initial capacitance after 100 000 charge/discharge cycles at 2 A g-1 ). As demonstrated in the electrochemical evaluation as electrode materials for electrical double-layer capacitors, unique structural and textural features of the GT/GnS@rGB would be beneficial in the use of graphene assembly for energy storage applications.

Abstract
Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is considered a risk factor for poor outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, data on the prognostic impact of radiological emphysema extent on patients with COVID-19 are limited. Thus, this study aimed to examine whether computed tomography (CT)-quantified emphysema score is associated with a worse clinical outcome in patients with COVID-19. Methods Volumetric quantitative analyses of CT images were performed to obtain emphysema scores in COVID-19 patients admitted to four tertiary referral hospitals in Daegu, South Korea, between February 18 and March 25, 2020. Patients were divided into three groups according to emphysema score (emphysema score ≤1%, 1%< emphysema score ≤5%, and emphysema score >5%). Results A total of 146 patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were included. The median emphysema score was 1.0% (interquartile range, 0.5–1.8%). Eight patients (6%) had a previous COPD diagnosis. Eighty (55%), 55 (38%), and 11 (8%) patients had emphysema scores ≤1%, between 1% and 5%, and >5%, respectively. The number of patients who received oxygen therapy two weeks after admission was significantly higher in the group with emphysema scores >5% than in other groups (p=0.025). The frequency of deaths was three (27%) in the group with emphysema scores >5% and tended to be higher than that in other groups. Multivariate analysis revealed that age, COPD, and serum lactate dehydrogenase levels were associated with a greater risk of in-hospital mortality in patients with COVID-19. Conclusion The current study demonstrated that patients with CT-quantified emphysema scores >5% tended to progress to severe disease over time; however, they did not exhibit an increased risk of mortality in our COVID-19 cohort. Further studies with consideration of both emphysema extent and airflow limitation degree are warranted.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of strain elastography (SE) in the differential diagnosis of ruptured epidermal cyst and superficial abscess. METHODS This retrospective study included 34 patients with ruptured epidermal cysts and 17 patients with superficial abscesses who underwent ultrasonography (US) including SE. The SE characteristics were classified into four grades (1 to 4) according to elasticity. The largest length and height of the lesion and their ratio were evaluated on the US images. Involvement of more than half of the depth of the dermis and the presence of the submarine sign were assessed. RESULTS The inter-reader agreement of US and SE findings showed excellent or almost perfect agreement. The height, length, ratio of height to length, and more-than-half-depth sign did not significantly differ between ruptured epidermal cysts and superficial abscesses for either reader (reader 1, P=0.071, P=0.129, P=0.806, and P=0.102, respectively; reader 2, P=0.173, P=0.053, P=0.669, and P=0.060, respectively). The submarine sign was significantly more frequent in ruptured epidermal cysts than in superficial abscesses (both readers, P<0.001). The difference in SE scores between ruptured epidermal cysts and superficial abscesses, which are harder than ruptured epidermal cysts, was statistically significant (reader 1, P=0.046; reader 2, P=0.028). CONCLUSION The SE score and submarine sign may be useful characteristics for distinguishing ruptured epidermal cyst from superficial abscess.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of retrograde transvenous obliteration (RTO) for the prevention of variceal rebleeding variceal rebleeding in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS This multicentre retrospective study enrolled 79 patients with HCC who underwent RTO for the prevention of variceal rebleeding. Successful occlusion of the gastrorenal shunt and obliteration of the gastric varices were achieved in 74 patients, with a technical success rate of 93.7%. Of the remaining 74 patients (mean age, 64.9±10.3 years; 56 men), 66 (90.4%) had gastroesophageal varices and seven (9.6%) had isolated gastric varices. Thirty-two patients (43.8%) underwent balloon-occluded RTO, 40 patients (54.8%) underwent plug-assisted RTO, and one patient (1.4%) underwent coil-assisted RTO. No patients had major procedural complications. RESULTS Rebleeding occurred in seven patients (9.6%) during the follow-up period. The 6-week and 1-year actuarial probabilities of patients remaining free of rebleeding were 90.8±3.6% and 88.6±4.1%, respectively. The median survival was 12.6 (95% confidence interval [CI] 8-17.3) months. The 6-week, 1-year, and 3-year actuarial probabilities of survival were 83.2±4.4%, 51.1±6.6%, and 32.7±7%, respectively. New or worsening ascites and oesophageal varices occurred in 12 (16.4%) and 13 patients (17.8%), respectively, during the follow-up period. Overt hepatic encephalopathy occurred in one patient (1.4%) during the follow-up period. The Child-Pugh score remained comparable to that at baseline at 1 and 3 months. CONCLUSION RTO was effective and safe in preventing variceal rebleeding in patients with HCC.

Introduction
Although atrial fibrillation (AF) catheter ablation is effective for rhythm control, in some patients it is hard to maintain sinus rhythm in spite of repeated AF catheter ablation (AFCA) procedures and anti-arrhythmic drugs (AADs). We explored the pre-procedural predictors for poor responders to AFCA and tested whether artificial intelligence (AI) assists the prediction of poor responders in the independent cohort by determining the invasive parameters.
Methods
Among 1,214 patients who underwent AFCA and regular rhythm follow-up for 56.2 ± 33.8 months (59 ± 11 years, 73.5% male, 68.6% paroxysmal AF), we differentiated 92 poor responders defined as those with sustained AF despite repeat AFCAs, AADs, or electrical cardioversion. Using the Youden index, we identified advanced LA remodeling with lower LA voltage under 1.109mV. AI model, which was derived from development cohort using medical record, was applied to predict LA voltage <1.109mV in the independent cohort (n = 634, poor responders = 24) using a grad-cam score.
Results
The patients with lower LA voltage under 1.109mV showed significantly poorer rhythm outcomes (Log-rank p < 0.001). We determined invasive parameter LA voltage by using the multiple variables (age, female sex, AF type, CHA2DS2VASc score, LA dimension, E/em, hemoglobin, PR interval) and achieved relatively good prediction power of AI for LA voltage <1.109mV (AUC = 0.734, sensitivity 0.729, specificity 0.643) in the test cohort. In the independent cohort, the AI model showed good discrimination power for poor responders (AUC 0.751, p < 0.001) by estimating LA voltage, which is an invasive variable. The patients with predicted lower LA voltage (grad-cam score <0) showed poorer rhythm outcome after active rhythm control (Log-rank p < 0.001)
Conclusions
The patients with advanced atrial remodeling with low LA voltage, which can be predicted by an AI, showed significantly higher recurrence of AF after AFCA with AADs or cardioversion. AI may assist to select these poor responder patients before the AFCA procedure. Abstract Figure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR), an important physiological feature of asthma, is a prognostic marker of childhood asthma. PURPOSE We aimed to investigate the factors associated with BHR in adolescents with childhood asthma. METHODS Two hundred and fifteen adolescents (≥13 years of age; 149 males, 66 females) who were diagnosed with asthma during childhood were enrolled, underwent methacholine challenge tests, and were divided into the BHR group (<25 mg/mL of provocation concentration causing a 20% fall in forced expiratory volume in 1 second [FEV1] [PC20], n=113) or non-BHR group (≥25 mg/mL of PC20, n=102). We examined longitudinal changes in BHR and the risk factors for its persistence in the 108 adolescents for whom baseline data, including methacholine PC20 at age 6 years, were available. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the factors associated with BHR in adolescents. RESULTS Mold sensitization (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 5.569; P=0.005) and increased blood eosinophil count (aOR, 1.002; P=0.026) were independently associated with BHR in boys but not girls. The odds of BHR decreased by 32% with each 1-year increase in age in boys (aOR, 0.683; P=0.010) but not girls. A reduced FEV1/forced vital capacity ratio (<90%) was independently related with BHR in female patients only (aOR, 7.500; P=0.007). BHR decreased with age throughout childhood. A low methacholine PC20 at age 6 years was independently associated with persistent BHR throughout childhood in male and female patients, whereas early mold sensitization was a risk factor for persistent BHR in male patients only (aOR, 7.718; P=0.028). CONCLUSION Our study revealed sex-specific differences in the factors associated with BHR in adolescents with childhood asthma. Our findings suggest the risk factors that might affect asthma transition from childhood to adolescence and adulthood.

Abstract
Isotopic distributions of fragments from fission of the neutron-deficient ^{178}Hg nuclide are reported. This experimental observable is obtained for the first time in the region around lead using an innovative approach based on inverse kinematics and the coincidence between the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer VAMOS++ and a new detection arm close to the target. The average fragment N/Z ratio and prompt neutron M_{n} multiplicity are derived and compared with current knowledge from actinide fission. A striking consistency emerges, revealing the unexpected dominant role of the proton subsystem with atomic number between the Z=28 and 50 magic numbers. The origin of nuclear charge polarization in fission and fragment deformation at scission are discussed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Early-stage mycosis fungoides (MF) includes involvement of dermatopathic lymph nodes (LNs) or early lymphomatous LNs. There is a lack of unanimity among current guidelines regarding the indications for initial staging imaging in early-stage presentation of MF in the absence of enlarged palpable LNs. OBJECTIVES To investigate how often imaging is performed in patients with early-stage presentation of MF, to assess the yield of LN imaging, and to determine what disease characteristics promoted imaging. METHODS A review of clinicopathologically confirmed newly diagnosed patients with cutaneous patch/plaque (T1/T2) MF from PROspective Cutaneous Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (PROCLIPI) data. RESULTS PROCLIPI enrolled 375 patients with stage T1/T2 MF: 304 with classical MF and 71 with folliculotropic MF. Imaging was performed in 169 patients (45%): 83 with computed tomography, 18 with positron emission tomography-computed tomography and 68 with ultrasound. Only nine of these (5%) had palpable enlarged (≥ 15 mm) LNs, with an over-representation of plaques, irrespectively of the 10% body surface area cutoff that distinguishes T1 from T2. Folliculotropic MF was not more frequently imaged than classical MF. Radiologically enlarged LNs (≥ 15 mm) were detected in 30 patients (18%); only seven had clinical lymphadenopathy. On multivariate analysis, plaque presentation was the sole parameter significantly associated with radiologically enlarged LNs. Imaging of only clinically enlarged LNs upstaged 4% of patients (seven of 169) to at least IIA, whereas nonselective imaging upstaged another 14% (24 of 169). LN biopsy, performed in eight of 30 patients, identified N3 (extensive lymphomatous involvement) in two and N1 (dermatopathic changes) in six. CONCLUSIONS Physical examination was a poor determinant of LN enlargement or involvement. Presence of plaques was associated with a significant increase in identification of enlarged or involved LNs in patients with early-stage presentation of MF, which may be important when deciding who to image. Imaging increases the detection rate of stage IIA MF, and identifies rare cases of extensive lymphomatous nodes, upstaging them to advanced-stage IVA2.

Abstract
Purpose To analyze the findings and serial changes in chest CT lesions in 123 symptomatic patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Materials and Methods From February 19 to April 7, 2020, a total of 123 confirmed COVID-19 patients (male, 44; female, 79; mean age, 59.2 ± 18.6) were enrolled in this retrospective study. A total of 234 CT scans were reviewed for the following patterns: acute alveolar insult (AAI) patterns: ground-glass opacity (GGO), crazy-paving appearance, mixed pattern, and consolidation; organizing pneumonia (OP) patterns: perilobular patterns, band opacity, curvilinear opacity, reversed halo opacity, and small nodular consolidation; resolving patterns: pure GGO, remnant curvilinear, small nodular consolidation, and serial changes of lung abnormalities. We compared the proportions of AAI pattern, OP pattern, or resolving pattern with time progression and analyzed the association between the patterns and disease severity using Pearson chi-square and Fisher's exact test. Results Predominant CT patterns were AAI pattern (87%) in the early hospital period group (0-10 days, after the onset of symptoms), OP pattern (45.7%) in the later hospital period group (after 10 days), and resolving pattern in discharge and follow-up group (47.2% and 84.8%, respectively). The difference in the proportions of predominant CT patterns with time progression was statistically significant (p < 0.001, Pearson's chi-square test). No statistically significant association was observed between the patterns and disease severity (p = 0.055, Fisher's exact test). No fibrous changes in the lesions were observed on follow-up CT scans. Conclusion The serial CT scans of COVID-19 patients showed the spectrum of COVID pneumonia CT manifestations as different phases of lung injury and repair.

Abstract
In this work, comprehensive lists of internal calibrants for accurate mass determination of molecules in crude oils, natural organic matter, and soil as well as their preparation recipes are presented. The lists include various sets of chemicals for positive- and negative-ion mode electrospray ionization, atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, atmospheric pressure photoionization, and laser desorption ionization. The chemicals were chosen based on their solvent compatibility, ionization efficiency, and accessibility. The sample preparation process was optimized for each ionization method and type of sample. The lists include detailed information on preparation solvent, concentrations, and mixing ratios of sample and calibrants. Internal calibration using the information in the lists results in successful calibration, and all the data presented in this study show root-mean-square errors between the theoretical and obtained m/z numbers of less than 0.4 ppm. The information presented in this study provides an important guideline for researchers working on complex mixtures with ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry.
