Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent studies have shown that obesity may contribute to the pathogenesis of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). However, the mechanism of this pathogenesis is not fully understood. METHODS A prospective case-control study was conducted with 30 obese and 30 nonobese patients with BPH. Prostate tissues were collected and analyzed using ultra performance liquid chromatography ion mobility coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-IMS-Q-TOF). RESULTS A total of 17 differential metabolites (3 upregulated and 14 downregulated) were identified between the obese and nonobese patients with BPH. Topological pathway analysis indicated that glycerophospholipid (GP) metabolism was the most important metabolic pathway involved in BPH pathogenesis. Seven metabolites were enriched in the GP metabolic pathway. lysoPC (P16:0/0:0), PE (20:0/20:0), PE (24:1(15Z)/18:0), PC (24:1(15Z)/14:0), PC (15:0/24:0), PE (24:0/18:0), and PC (16:0/18:3(9Z,12Z,15Z)) were all significantly downregulated in the obesity group, and the area under the curve (AUC) of LysoPC (P-16:0/0/0:0) was 0.9922. The inclusion of the seven differential metabolites in a joint prediction model had an AUC of 0.9956. Thus, both LysoPC (P-16:0/0/0:0) alone and the joint prediction model demonstrated good predictive ability for obesity-induced BPH mechanisms. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, obese patients with BPH had a unique metabolic profile, and alterations in PE and PC in these patients be associated with the development and progression of BPH.

Abstract
Resveratrol (Res) possesses various beneficial effects, including cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and antioxidant properties. However, the precise mechanism underlying these effects remains unclear. Here we investigated the protective effects of resveratrol on cardiomyocytes, focusing on the role of Zn2+ and mitophagy. Using the MTT/lactate dehydrogenase assay, we found that addition of a zinc chelator TPEN for 4 h induced mitophagy and resulted in a significant reduction in cell viability, increased cytotoxicity, and apoptosis in H9c2 cells. Notably, resveratrol effectively mitigated these detrimental effects caused by TPEN. Similarly, Res inhibited the TPEN-induced expression of mitophagy-associated proteins, namely P62, LC3, NIX, TOM20, PINK1, and Parkin. The inhibitory action of resveratrol on mitophagy was abrogated by the mitophagy inhibitor 3-MA. Additionally, we discovered that silencing of the Mfn2 gene could reverse the inhibitory effects of resveratrol on mitophagy via the AMPK-Mfn2 axis, thereby preventing the opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP). Collectively, our data suggest that Res can safeguard mitochondria protection by impeding mitophagy and averting mPTP opening through the AMPK-Mfn2 axis in myocardial cells.

Abstract
Legume crops establish symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing rhizobia for biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), a process that provides a prominent natural nitrogen source in agroecosystems; and efficient nodulation and nitrogen fixation processes require a large amount of phosphorus (P). Here, a role of GmPAP4, a nodule-localized purple acid phosphatase, in BNF and seed yield was functionally characterized in whole transgenic soybean (Glycine max) plants under a P-limited condition. GmPAP4 was specifically expressed in the infection zones of soybean nodules and its expression was greatly induced in low P stress. Altered expression of GmPAP4 significantly affected soybean nodulation, BNF, and yield under the P-deficient condition. Nodule number, nodule fresh weight, nodule nitrogenase, APase activities, and nodule total P content were significantly increased in GmPAP4 overexpression (OE) lines. Structural characteristics revealed by toluidine blue staining showed that overexpression of GmPAP4 resulted in a larger infection area than wild-type (WT) control. Moreover, the plant biomass and N and P content of shoot and root in GmPAP4 OE lines were also greatly improved, resulting in increased soybean yield in the P-deficient condition. Taken together, our results demonstrated that GmPAP4, a purple acid phosphatase, increased P utilization efficiency in nodules under a P-deficient condition and, subsequently, enhanced symbiotic BNF and seed yield of soybean.

Abstract
In this study, a novel functionalized magnetic composite (MNCGC) for magnetic solid-phase extraction of bisphenols from environmental and food samples was developed, featuring a multistep synthesis with Fe3O4, chitosan, graphene oxide, and β-cyclodextrin, crosslinked by glutaraldehyde. Characterization confirmed its advantageous morphology, intact crystal structure of the magnetic core, specific surface area, and magnetization, enabling efficient adsorption and separation via an external magnetic field. The optimized MSPE-HPLC-FLD method demonstrated excellent sensitivity, linearity, and recovery rates exceeding 80% for bisphenol pollutants, validating the method's effectiveness in enriching and detecting trace levels of bisphenols in complex matrices. This approach offers a new avenue for analyzing multiple bisphenol residues, with successful application to environmental water and food samples, showing high recovery rates.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Electrical injuries rarely result in fractures, such as long bone fractures and spinal fractures. A few articles have reported osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) caused by electrical injuries. Here, we present a rare case of 37-year-old male suffering from the 9th thoracic (T9) and 5th lumbar (L5) OVCFs after receiving a electric shock. CASE PRESENTATION A 37-year-old Han male experienced an electric shock (480 V direct current) at the working time and felt immediately serious back pain. He did not fall and lose consciousness. X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging showed acute OVCFs, as well as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry indicated osteoporosis. Normal laboratory tests can avoid secondary osteoporosis resulting from metabolic diseases and tumors. Finally, he was diagnosed with acute discontinuous OVCFs (T9 and L5). The patient denied having a history of back pain, whereas, he had a history of smoking, alcohol abuse, and congenital heart disease (tetralogy of Fallot) were associated with osteoporosis. Considering no local kyphosis and < 50% anterior body compression, we selected conservative treatment for this patient. At a 1-year and 3-year follow-up, the lateral thoracic and lumbar radiography demonstrated no instability of the spine, and the back pain has been relieved. CONCLUSIONS This rare case reminds us the importance of consulting a detailed medical history when we encounter young patients receiving electrical injuries. Discontinuously OVCFs must not be overlooked, even though we encounter a young man.

Abstract
Biological soil crusts (BSCs) are common in arid and semi-arid ecosystems and enhance soil stability and fertility. Highway slopes severely deplete the soil ecological structure and soil nutrients, hindering plant survival. The construction of highway slope BSCs under human intervention is critical to ensure the long-term stable operation of the slope ecosystem. This study investigated the variation rules and interaction mechanisms between soil nutrients and microbial communities in the subsoil BSCs on highway slopes. Bacterial 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing was employed to investigate the dynamic compositional changes in the microbial community and perform critical metabolic predictive analyses of functional bacteria. This study revealed that the total soil nitrogen increased significantly from 0.557 to 0.864 g/kg after artificial inoculation with desert Phormidium tenue and Scytonema javanicum. Actinobacteria (44-48%) and Proteobacteria (28-31%) were the dominant phyla in all samples. The abundance of Cyanobacteria, Cytophagaceae, and Chitinophagaceae increased significantly after inoculation. PICRUST analysis showed that the main metabolic pathways of soil microorganisms on highway slopes included cofactor and vitamin, nucleotide, and amino acid metabolisms. These findings suggest that the artificial inoculation with Phormidium tenue and Scytonema javanicum could alter soil microbial distribution to promote soil development on highway slopes toward nutrient accumulation.

Abstract
Diosbulbin B (DIOB), isolated from herbal medicine Dioscorea bulbifera L. (DB), could induce severe liver injury, and its toxicology was closely associated with CYP3A4-mediated metabolic oxidation of furan moiety to the corresponding cis-enedial reactive metabolite. Glycyrrhizin (GL), the major bioactive ingredient in licorice, can inhibit the activity of CYP3A4. Thus, GL may ameliorate hepatotoxicity of DIOB when GL and DIOB are co-administrated. The study aimed to investigate the protective effect of GL on DIOB-induced hepatotoxicity and the underlying mechanism. Biochemical and histopathological analysis demonstrated that GL alleviated DIOB-induced hepatotoxicity in a dose-dependent manner. In vitro study with mouse liver microsomes (MLMs) demonstrated that GL reduced the formation of metabolic activation-derived pyrrole-glutathione (GSH) conjugates from DIOB. Toxicokinetic studies showed that the pretreatment with GL caused the increase of AUCs and Cmax of DIOB in blood of mice, resulting in accelerating the accumulation of DIOB in the circulation. In addition, the pretreatment with GL alleviated DIOB-induced hepatic GSH depletion. In summary, GL ameliorated DIOB-induced hepatotoxicity, possibly related to the inhibition of the metabolic activation of DIOB. Thus, development of a standardized combination of DIOB with GL may protect patients from DIOB-induced liver injury.

Background Postoperative delirium (POD) is of great concern as a complication of surgery in older adult patients. Sedation strategies influence the development of POD. This study compared how sedation strategies administered during spinal anesthesia influenced POD in patients aged ≥65 years undergoing elective surgery for hip fracture repair. Patients and Methods A randomized clinical trial was conducted from 1 August 2021 to 30 June 2022 at a single academic medical center. Two hundred and twenty-six patients were randomly divided into four groups: lighter sedation with propofol (LP), heavier sedation with propofol (HP), lighter sedation with dexmedetomidine (LD), and heavier sedation with dexmedetomidine (HD). The incidence of delirium was the primary outcome and was assessed daily by the blinded Confusion Assessment Method. Results There was a significant association between dexmedetomidine (LD+HD group) and a lower incidence of delirium (11.9% [13/109] vs the propofol group (23.6% [26/110]; Risk ratio, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.274 to 0.929; p=0.024). In the propofol group, heavier sedation had a higher rate of POD (32.7% [18/55] vs the lighter sedation group (14.5% [8/55]; Risk ratio, 2.25; 95% CI, 1.069 to 4.736; p=0.025). Conclusion Dexmedetomidine was associated with a lower incidence of delirium than that with propofol among older patients with hip fractures. In patients that received propofol, heavier sedation was associated with high incidence of POD.

Abstract
Riptortus pedestris (Fabricius, 1775) (Hemiptera: Alydidae) is a major soybean pest in East Asia that can cause soybean staygreen syndrome. To date, no insecticides have been registered for the control of R. pedestris in China, and these insects are primarily controlled in the field through the application of broad-spectrum insecticides including lambda-cyhalothrin (LCT) and emamectin benzoate (EMB). Here, the lethal and sublethal effects of LCT and EMB on R. pedestris were comprehensively evaluated. LCT and EMB were both found to exhibit high levels of toxicity and concentration-dependent repellent effects for R. pedestris. The exposure of third instar nymphs from the F0 generation to LC30 concentrations of LCT and EMB resulted in a significant increase in the duration of nymph development and adult pre-oviposition period (APOP), together with reductions in fifth instar nymph and adult body weight, longevity, oviposition days, fecundity, vitellarium length, lateral oviduct diameter, and vitellogenin (Vg) gene expression as compared to control treatment. Strikingly, these suppressive effects were transmitted to the F1 generation, which similarly experienced the prolongation of preadult development and the preoviposition period (TPOP). Relative to control-treated populations, the F1 generation for these insecticide-treated groups also exhibited significant decreases in population parameter values. Overall, these data offer new insight into the impact that LCT and EMB treatment can have on R. pedestris, providing a valuable foundation for the application of these pesticides in the context of integrated pest management strategies aimed at soybean crop preservation.

Abstract
The crucial reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) within the chicken intestinal microbiome poses a serious threat to both animal and human health. In China, the overuse of antibiotics has significantly contributed to the proliferation of ARGs in the chicken intestinal microbiome, which is a serious concern. However, there has been relatively little research on the diversity of resistance genes in the chicken intestinal microbiome since the implementation of the National Pilot Work Program for Action to Reduce the Use of Veterinary Antimicrobial Drugs in China. The objective of this study was to analyze the diversity of antibiotic resistance genes carried by the chicken intestinal microbiome in both standard farms (SFs), which implement antibiotic reduction and passed national acceptance, and nonstandard farms (NSFs), which do not implement antibiotic reductions, in Hebei Province. Fresh fecal samples of broiler chickens were collected from SFs (n = 4) and NSF (n = 1) and analyzed using high-throughput qPCR technology. Our findings revealed that all five farms exhibited a wide range of highly abundant ARGs, with a total of 201 ARGs and 7 MGEs detected in all fecal samples. The dominant ARGs identified conferred resistance to aminoglycosides, macrolide-lincosamide-streptomycin B (MLSB), and tetracycline antibiotics. Cellular protection mechanisms were found to be the primary resistance mechanism for these ARGs. The analysis of the co-occurrence network demonstrated a significant positive correlation between the abundance of MGEs and ARGs. The SF samples showed a significantly lower relative abundance of certain ARGs than the NSF samples (p < 0.05). The results of this study show that the abundance of ARGs demonstrated a downward trend after the implementation of the National Pilot Work Program for Action to Reduce the Usage of Veterinary Antimicrobial Drugs in Hebei Province, China.

Abstract
Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is one of the most common complications during pregnancy and seriously affects women's physical and mental health. About 50% of RSA cases are of unknown etiology. Our previous study found that the decidual tissue of patients with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA) had low expression levels of serum and glucocorticoid-induced protein kinase (SGK) 1. Endometrial decidualization is a key link in the early stage of pregnancy and is crucial to the development and maintenance of pregnancy. Decidualization is the proliferation and differentiation of endometrial stromal cells into deciduals, which involves a complex physiological process such as ovarian steroid hormones (estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, etc.), growth factors, and intercellular signaling. The binding of estrogen and its receptor stimulates the synthesis of endometrial deciduating markers prolactin (PRL) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP-1), which mediates the occurrence of decidualization. Among them, SGK1/ENaC is a signaling pathway closely related to decidualization. The purpose of this study was to further investigate the expression of SGK1 and decidualization-related molecules in the decidual tissue of URSA patients and to explore the potential mechanism of SGK1's protective effect in URSA patients and in mouse models. Decidual tissue samples from 30 URSA patients and 30 women who actively terminated pregnancy were collected, and a URSA mouse model was established and treated with dydrogesterone. Expression levels of SGK1 and its signaling pathway-related proteins (p-Nedd4-2, 14-3-3 protein and ENaC-a), estrogen and progesterone receptors (ERβ, PR), and decidualization markers (PRLR, IGFBP-1) were assessed. Our study found that SGK1, p-Nedd4-2, 14-3-3 proteins, and ENaC-a expression levels were reduced in the decidual tissue, the SGK1/ENaC signaling pathway was inhibited, and the expression levels of the decidualization markers PRLR and IGFBP-1 were downregulated in the URSA group compared with the controls. Additionally, the concentrations of E2, P, and PRL in the serum of mice were decreased in the URSA group compared with the controls. However, SGK1/ENaC pathway-related proteins, estrogen and progesterone and their receptors, and decidualization-related molecules were upregulated by dydrogesterone. These data suggest that estrogen and progesterone can induce decidualization by activating the SGK1/ENaC signaling pathway; disruption of this pathway can lead to the development of URSA. Dydrogesterone can increase the expression level of SGK1 protein in decidual tissue.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Treatment of distal tibial fractures is a challenge due to their specific anatomical location. However, there is no appropriate mouse model to simulate a clinical distal tibial fracture for basic research. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the feasibility of simulating a clinical fracture of the distal tibia of mice and to investigate the effect of ovariectomy (OVX)-induced osteoporosis on fracture healing in this model. METHODS Sixty female 8-week-old C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups, either sham or OVX. A semi-fixation distal tibia fracture was established in the right tibia after 8 weeks of OVX. The right tibias were collected at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days post fracture. RESULTS In the semi-fixation distal tibia fracture model, the posterior callus in the sham group showed excessive bone resorption and lower bone mass phenotype compared with the anterior site; a similar trend was not found in the OVX group. At 28 days post fracture, the posterior callus was more mineralized than the anterior callus in the OVX group. Although the fracture healing of the sham group showed a special phenotype in this mode, the progress and quality of fracture healing were still better than those of the OVX group. CONCLUSION A semi-fixed distal tibial closed fracture mouse model was successfully established. In this model, excess bone resorption of the posterior callus impaired normal fracture healing, but not in OVX-induced osteoporotic bone. Although the stress shielding effect was not observed in the OVX group, impaired bone healing caused by OVX was still present. Our results suggest that this fracture model may have potential for studies on distal tibial fractures and stress shielding.

Abstract
Previous studies have shown that polydatin (Poly) confer cardioprotective effects. However, its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. This study showed that Poly (10 µM) treatment reversed the high glucose (HG)-induced decrease in acetylcholine-elicited vasodilation in aortas. Poly also improved the acetylcholine-induced vasodilation of aortic vessels isolated from diabetic rats. Meanwhile, Poly ameliorated the morphological damage of the thoracic aorta and improved the viability of HUVECs under HG conditions. Furthermore, analysis of the vasoprotective effect of Poly under HG conditions by transmission electron microscopy, Western blotting, and qPCR revealed that Poly improved endothelial pyroptosis through the NLRP3/Caspase/1-IL-1β pathway, enhanced dynamin-related protein 1-mediated mitochondrial fission, and increased the mitochondrial membrane potential under HG conditions. In conclusion, Poly restored acetylcholine-induced vasodilation impaired by HG incubation, which was associated with reduced oxidation, inflammation, and pyroptosis, the recovery of the mitochondrial membrane potential and maintenance of mitochondrial dynamic homeostasis of endothelial cells in the aortas.

BACKGROUND The jasmonate ZIM domain (JAZ) protein is a key repressor of the jasmonate signal transduction pathway, which plays an important role in plant growth and development and defense responses. In this study, based on the published whole-genome data, we identified members of the JAZ gene family in Populus trichocarpa. Through a series of bioinformatic approaches, their expression patterns under various stress conditions have been analyzed to explore and excavate the endogenous resistance genes of poplar and provide a theoretical basis for breeding new varieties of poplar resistance. RESULTS A total of 13 PtJAZ genes have been identified in P. trichocarpa and designated as PtJAZ1-PtJAZ13. Those 13 PtJAZ genes were unevenly distributed on nine chromosomes, and they could be divided into four subfamilies. The gene structures and motif composition of the members derived from the same subfamily were similar. Collinearity analysis demonstrated that, compared with Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa, the most collinear pairs (13) were found in P. trichocarpa and Eucalyptus robusta. Cis-acting element analysis suggested that the promoter regions of PtJAZs contained a large number of hormones and stress response elements, of which abscisic acid (ABA) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) hormone response elements were the most abundant. The PtJAZ genes not only had diverse expression patterns in different tissues, but they also responded to various abiotic and biotic stress conditions. The co-expression network and GO and KEGG analyses showed that JAZ genes were closely related to insect resistance. CONCLUSIONS In this study, applying bioinformatic methods, 13 PtJAZ gene family members from P. trichocarpa were identified and comprehensively analyzed. By further studying the function of the poplar JAZ gene family, the aim is to select genes with better insect resistance and stress resistance so as to lay a solid foundation for the subsequent breeding of new poplar varieties.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Basic leucine zipper (bZIP) proteins are important transcription factors in plants. To study the role of bZIP transcription factors in walnut explant browning, this study used bioinformatics software to analyze walnut bZIP gene family members, along with their transcript levels in different walnut tissues, to evaluate the transcriptional expression of this gene family during the primary culture of walnut explants and to reveal the mechanism of action of walnut bZIP genes in walnut explant browning. RESULTS The results identified 65 JrbZIP genes in the walnut genome, which were divided into 8 subfamilies and distributed on 16 chromosomes. The results of transcriptome data analysis showed that there were significant differences in the expression of four genes, namely, JrbZIP55, JrbZIP70, JrbZIP72, and JrbZIP88, under both vermiculite and agar culture conditions. There were multiple hormone (salicylic acid, abscisic acid, auxin, and gibberellin) signaling and regulatory elements that are responsive to stress (low temperature, stress, and defense) located in the promoter regions of JrbZIP55, JrbZIP70, JrbZIP72, and JrbZIP88. The walnut JrbZIP55 protein and Arabidopsis bZIP42 protein are highly homologous, and the proteins interacting with Arabidopsis bZIP42 include the AT2G19940 oxidoreductases, which act on aldehyde or oxygen-containing donors. CONCLUSION It is speculated that JrbZIP55 may participate in the regulation of browning in walnut explants.

Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) will cause blindness if the detection and treatment are not carried out in the early stages. To create an effective treatment strategy, the severity of the disease must first be divided into referral-warranted diabetic retinopathy (RWDR) and non-referral diabetic retinopathy (NRDR). However, there are usually no sufficient fundus examinations due to lack of professional service in the communities, particularly in the developing countries. In this study, we introduce UGAN_Resnet_CBAM (URNet; UGAN is a generative adversarial network that uses Unet for feature extraction), a two-stage end-to-end deep learning technique for the automatic detection of diabetic retinopathy. The characteristics of DDR fundus data set were used to design an adaptive image preprocessing module in the first stage. Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) and t-distribution and stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) were used as the evaluation indices to analyze the preprocessing results. In the second stage, we enhanced the performance of the Resnet50 network by integrating the convolutional block attention module (CBAM). The outcomes demonstrate that our proposed solution outperformed other current structures, achieving 94.5% and 94.4% precisions, and 96.2% and 91.9% recall for NRDR and RWDR, respectively.

Abstract
PH13-8Mo stainless steel has been widely used in aerospace, petroleum and marine construction, obtaining continuous investigation attention in recent years. Based on the response of a hierarchical martensite matrix and possible reversed austenite, a systematic investigation of the evolution of the toughening mechanisms in PH13-8Mo stainless steel as a function of aging temperature was carried out. It showed there was a desirable combination of high yield strength (~1.3 GPa) and V-notched impact toughness (~220 J) after aging between 540 and 550 °C. With the increase of aging temperature, the martensite matrix was recovered in terms of the refined sub-grains and higher ratio of high-angle grain boundaries (HAGBs). It should be noted there was a reversion of martensite to form austenite films subjected to aging above 540 °C; meanwhile, the NiAl precipitates maintained a well-coherent orientation with the matrix. Based on the post mortem analysis, there were three stages of the changing main toughening mechanisms: Stage I: low-temperature aging at around 510 °C, where the HAGBs contributed to the toughness by retarding the advance of cracks; Stage II: intermediate-temperature aging at around 540 °C, where the recovered laths embedded by soft austenite facilitated the improvement of toughness by synergistically increasing the advance path and blunting the crack tips; and Stage III: without the coarsening of NiAl precipitates around 560 °C, more inter-lath reversed austenite led to the optimum toughness, relying on "soft barrier" and transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND H9N2 virus is mainly transmitted through the respiratory mucosal pathway, so mucosal immunity is considered to play a good role in controlling avian influenza infection. It is commonly accepted that no adequate mucosal immunity is achieved by inactivated vaccines, which was widely used to prevent and control avian influenza virus infection. Thus, an improved vaccine to induce both mucosal immunity and systemic immunity is urgently required to control H9N2 avian influenza outbreaks in poultry farms. METHODS In this study, we constructed a novel Lactococcus lactis (L. lactis) strain expressing a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the HA1 proteins derived from an endemic H9N2 virus strain and chicken IgY Fc fragment. We evaluated the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of this recombinant L. lactis HA1-Fc strain. RESULTS Our data demonstrated that chickens immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc strain showed significantly increased levels of serum antibodies, mucosal secretory IgA, T cell-mediated immune responses, and lymphocyte proliferation. Furthermore, following challenge with H9N2 avian influenza virus, chickens immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc strain showed reduced the weight loss, relieved clinical symptoms, and decreased the viral titers and the pathological damage in the lung. Moreover, oropharyngeal and cloacal shedding of the H9N2 influenza virus was detected in chicken immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc after infection, the results showed the titer was low and reduced quickly to reach undetectable levels at 7 days after infection. CONCLUSION Our data showed that the recombinant L. lactis HA1-Fc strain could induce protective mucosal and systemic immunity, and this study provides a theoretical basis for improving immune responses to prevent and control H9N2 virus infection.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Intracerebral hemorrhage is a high-risk pathological event that is associated with formidable morality rates. Here, our objective was to perform a retrospective study to determine the best timing for drainage using physiological data on patients who received drainage at different timings. METHODS In this retrospective study, we reviewed 198 patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage who underwent stereotactic drainage at the conventional timing (surgery within 12 h of admission; control group) and 216 patients who underwent stereotactic drainage at a customized surgical timing (elective group). Follow-ups were performed at 3 and 6 months after surgery. RESULTS The clinical indicators, including prognosis, hematoma clearance, recurrent hemorrhage, intracerebral infection, pulmonary infection, deep venous thrombosis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores, and matrix metallopeptidase 2 and 9 levels, were compared between the control and elective groups. Our data indicated that the elective group had significantly better prognosis compared to the control group (p = 0.021), with a higher rate of hematoma clearance (p = 0.004) and a lower rate of recurrent hemorrhage (p = 0.018). The total occurrence rate of post-surgery complications was also lower for the elective group (p = 0.026). NIHSS scores and serum MMP2/9 levels of the elective group were lower than those of the control group. CONCLUSIONS Customized timing of stereotactic drainage may be superior to conventional fixed timing (within 12 h post-hemorrhage) in reducing post-surgery complications and promoting recovery, which supports the potential use of customized timing of stereotactic minimally invasive drainage as a new convention in clinics.

Abstract
Cerebral ischemic preconditioning (CIP)-induced brain ischemic tolerance protects neurons from subsequent lethal ischemic insult. However, the specific mechanisms underlying CIP remain unclear. In the present study, we explored the hypothesis that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) participates in the upregulation of Klotho during the induction of brain ischemic tolerance by CIP. First we investigated the expression of Klotho during the brain ischemic tolerance induced by CIP. Lethal ischemia significantly decreased Klotho expression from 6 h to 7 days, while CIP significantly increased Klotho expression from 12 h to 7 days in the hippocampal CA1 region. Inhibition of Klotho expression by its shRNA blocked the neuroprotection induced by CIP. These results indicate that Klotho participates in brain ischemic tolerance by CIP. Furthermore, we tested the role of PPARγ in regulating Klotho expression after CIP. CIP caused PPARγ protein translocation to the nucleus in neurons in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Pretreatment with GW9962, a PPARγ inhibitor, significantly attenuated the upregulation of Klotho protein and blocked the brain ischemic tolerance induced by CIP. Taken together, it can be concluded that Klotho upregulation via PPARγ contributes to the induction of brain ischemic tolerance by CIP.

Abstract
Background PM2.5 exposure is one of the major inducements of various respiratory diseases and related mortality. Meanwhile, irisin, a metabolism and thermogenesis-related hormone, is found to be protective against acute lung injury induced by LPS, which indicates its therapeutic function in lung injury. However, the function and underlying mechanism of irisin in PM2.5-induced acute lung injury (ALI) are still unclear. This study is aimed to discover the potential mechanisms of irisin in PM2.5-induced acute lung injury. Methods Atg5 deficient mice and cells were established to clarify the relationship between irisin and autophagy in PM2.5-induced ALI. We also used Ad-mCherry-GFP-LC3B as a monitor of autophagy flux to claim the effects of irisin on autophagy. Western blotting and qPCR were used to reveal the molecular mechanism. Results As a result, PM2.5 exposure induced lung injury whereas mitigated by irisin. Moreover, PM2.5 hampered autophagy flux, characterized by accumulation of p62, and autophagosomes, as well as blocked autolysosomes. Irisin improved the disturbed autophagy flux, which was abrogated by deficiency of Atg5. Additionally, we demonstrated that irisin activated AMPK and inhibited mTOR, which indicated the enhanced autophagy. Moreover, blockage of AMPK by compound C terminated irisin's induction of autophagy in cultured MH-S cells. Conclusion Our findings reveal that irisin performs protective effects against PM2.5-induced ALI by activating autophagy through AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway.

Abstract
Allogeneic inflammatory factor-1 (AIF-1) overexpression has been reported to be associated with tumorigenesis and tumor metastasis. This study aimed to investigate the role of AIF-1 in the development and progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). AIF-1, IL-6, and VEGF expressions in human NSCLC tissue were examined by immunofluorescence staining. Bioinformatics analyses were performed to identify AIF-1-related molecules and pathways in NSCLC. Human lung cancer A549 cell proliferation was assessed by CCK-8 assay, and cell migration was evaluated with wound-healing assay. IL-6 and VEGF secretions in A549 cell culture supernatants were quantified using the Elecsys IL-6 immunoassay kit and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Assay Kit. RT-PCR and western blot were performed to quantify the expressions of AIF-1, IL-6, and VEGF mRNAs and proteins involved in p38-MAPK and JAK/STAT3 signaling such as p-p38 and p-STAT3. The effects of AIF-1 on A549 cell proliferation and the expressions of IL-6 and VEGF were assessed using SB203580 and ruxolitinib. The results showed that AIF-1 expression was higher in human NSCLC tissue than that in paracancer tissue. High AIF-1 expression was associated with metastasis, higher TNM stage, and poorer survival. Bioinformatics connected AIF-1 to JAK/STAT signaling in NSCLC. AIF-1 increased A549 cell proliferation, migration, IL-6 secretion and, VEGF secretion, and these effects were attenuated by inhibition of p38-MAPK or JAK/STAT3 signaling. In conclusion, AIF-1 may promote aggressive NSCLC behavior via activation of p38-MAPK and JAK/STAT signaling.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal tract cancers are a highly heterogeneous group of malignant diseases, contributing significantly to the burden of death worldwide. Chemokine-like factor (CKLF)-like MARVEL transmembrane domain-containing family (CMTMs) plays important roles in cancer development and progression. Since the first member was cloned, there have been abundant studies on the relationships between the CMTM family and human cancers. It has been reported that the CMTM family has a large potential prognostic value for multiple cancers. Meanwhile, upregulated or downregulated expression of the family members was related to advanced tumor stage, metastasis, and overall survival. Studies have also reported that these proteins play critical roles in antitumor immunity. We performed a systematic review to sum up the latest advances of CMTM family’ roles in gastrointestinal tract cancers, with a primary focus on hepatocellular carcinoma and gastric carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers and a main cause of global cancer death. The expression of interleukin 6 is associated with the risk of gastric cancer. But the diagnostic accuracy of interleukin 6 remains unclear. This study was designed to assess the diagnostic performance of interleukin 6 in gastric cancer diagnosis. METHODS The related data was obtained from Oncomine and studied using bioinformatics analysis. The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of science databases were searched for related studies published from inception to July 14, 2020. Measuring tools of diagnostic performance including sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio were pooled using bivariate mixed-effects meta-analysis model. The summery receiver operator characteristic curves were plotted. RESULTS The result from Oncomine showed that the expression of interleukin 6 in gastric cancer (GC) patients was higher than the normal groups (P < .05). Furthermore, a total of 4 eligible articles were enrolled, containing 390 cases and 404 controls. The diagnostic results were as follows: a sensitivity of 0.80 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.57-0.92), a specificity of 0.86 (95% CI 0.74-0.93), a positive likelihood ratio of 5.76 (95% CI 3.49-9.49), a negative likelihood ratio of 0.23 (95% CI 0.11-0.51) and a diagnostic odds ratio of 24.58 (95% CI 14.14-42.73). The summary area under the receiver operating characteristic curves was 0.90 (95% CI 0.87-0.93). CONCLUSION Higher interleukin 6 expression was detected in GC patients, and interleukin 6 could be a helpful indicator of diagnosis of gastric cancer. Further large-scale prospective studies are required for identifying the diagnostic value of interleukin 6 in gastric cancer.

Abstract
Complete mitochondrial genomes are valuable resources for phylogenetics in insects. The Cyphonoceridae represents an important lineage of fireflies. However, no complete mitogenome is available until now. Here, the first complete mitochondrial genome from this subfamily was reported, with Cyphonocerus sanguineus klapperichi as a representative. The mitogenome of C. sanguineus klapperichi was conserved in the structure and comparable to that of others in size and A+T content. Nucleotide composition was A+T-biased, and all genes exhibited a positive AT-skew and negative GC-skew. Two types of tandem repeat sequence units were present in the control region (136 bp × 2; 171 bp × 2 + 9 bp). For reconstruction of Lampyridae's phylogeny, three different datasets were analyzed by both maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) methods. As a result, the same topology was produced by both ML analysis of 13 protein-coding genes and 2rRNA and BI analysis of 37 genes. The results indicated that Lampyridae, Lampyrinae, Luciolinae (excluding Emeia) were monophyletic, but Ototretinae was paraphyletic, of which Stenocladius was recovered as the sister taxon to all others, while Drilaster was more closely related to Cyphonocerinae; Phturinae + Emeia were included in a monophyletic clade, which comprised sister groups with Lampyridae. Vesta was deeply rooted in the Luciolinae.

Abstract
In order to replace nonrenewable resources and decrease electronic waste disposal, there is a rapidly rising demand for the utilization of reproducible and degradable biopolymers in flexible electronics. Natural biopolymers have many remarkable characteristics, including light weight, excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, non-toxicity, low cost, etc. Thanks to these superior merits, natural functional biopolymers can be designed and optimized for the development of high-performance flexible electronic devices. Herein, we provide an insightful overview of the unique structures, properties and applications of biopolymers for electronic skins (e-skins) and flexible strain sensors. The relationships between properties and sensing performances of biopolymers-based sensors are also investigated. The functional design strategies and fabrication technologies for biopolymers-based flexible sensors are proposed. Furthermore, the research progresses of biopolymers-based sensors with various functions are described in detail. Finally, we provide some useful viewpoints and future prospects of developing biopolymers-based flexible sensors.

Abstract
To explore the characteristics of the mitogenome of Melyridae and reveal phylogenetic relationships, the mitogenome of Cordylepherus sp. was sequenced and annotated. This is the first time a complete mitochondrial genome has beengenerated in this family. Consistent with previous observations of Cleroidea species, the mitogenome of Cordylepherus sp. is highly conserved in gene size, organization and codon usage, and secondary structures oftRNAs. All protein-coding genes(PCGs) initiate withthe standard start codon ATN,except ND1, which starts with TTG, and terminate with the complete stop codons of TAA and TAG, or incomplete forms, TA- and T-. MosttRNAs have the typical clover-leaf structure, except trnS1 (Ser, AGN), whose dihydrouridine (DHU) armis reduced. In the A+T-rich region, three types of tandem repeat sequence units are found, including a 115 bp sequence tandemly repeated twice, a 16 bp sequence tandemly repeated three timeswith a partial third repeat and a 10 bp sequence tandemly repeated seven times. Phylogenetic analyses based on 13 protein-coding genes by both Bayesian inference (BI) and maximum likelihood (ML) methods suggest that Melyridae sensu lato is polyphyletic, and Dasytinae and Malchiinae are supported as independent families.

Abstract
The multifunctional photothermal therapy (PTT) platform with the ability to selectively kill bacteria over mammalian cells has received widespread attention recently. Herein, we prepared graphene oxide-amino(polyethyleneglycol) (GO-PEG-NH2) while using the hydrophobic interaction between heptadecyl end groups of 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[amino(polyethyleneglycol)] (DSPE-PEG-NH2) and graphene oxide (GO). Based on GO-PEG-NH2, the versatile PTT system was constructed with simultaneous selective recognition, capturing, and photothermal killing of bacteria. When the cells undergo bacterial infection, owing to the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chains and positively charged amino groups, GO-PEG-NH2 can specifically recognize and capture bacteria in the presence of cells. Meanwhile, the stable photothermal performance of GO-PEG-NH2 enables the captured bacteria to be efficiently photothermally ablated upon the irradiation of 808 nm laser. Besides, the GO-PEG-NH2 is highly stable in various biological media and it exhibits low cytotoxicity, suggesting that it holds great promise for biological applications. This work provides new insight into graphene-based materials as a PTT agent for the development of new therapeutic platforms.

Abstract
Ticks are obligate blood-sucking arachnid ectoparasites from the order Acarina, and many are notorious as vectors of a wide variety of zoonotic pathogens. However, the systematics of ticks in several genera is still controversial. The mitochondrial genome (mt-genome) has been widely used in arthropod phylogeny, molecular evolution and population genetics. With the development of sequencing technologies, an increasing number of tick mt-genomes have been sequenced and annotated. To date, 63 complete tick mt-genomes are available in the NCBI database, and these genomes have become an increasingly important genetic resource and source of molecular markers in phylogenetic studies of ticks in recent years. The present review summarizes all available complete mt-genomes of ticks in the NCBI database and analyses their characteristics, including structure, base composition and gene arrangement. Furthermore, a phylogenetic tree was constructed using mitochondrial protein-coding genes (PCGs) and ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes from ticks. The results will provide important clues for deciphering new tick mt-genomes and establish a foundation for subsequent taxonomic research.

Abstract
Multi-structure assemblies consisting of gold nanoparticles and porphyrin were fabricated by using diblock copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PEG-b-P4VP). The copolymer of PEG-b-P4VP was used in the formation of core-shell micelles in water, in which the P4VP block serves as the core, while the PEG block forms the shell. In the micellar core, gold nanoparticle and metalloporphyrin were dispersed through the axial coordination. Structural and morphological characterizations of the complex micelle were carried out by transmission electron microscopy, laser light scatting, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Metalloporphyrin in the complex micelle exhibited excellent photostability by reducing the generation of the singlet oxygen. This strategy may provide a novel approach to design photocatalysts that have target applications in photocatalysis and solar cells.

Abstract
A procedure to measure the serum concentration of glycogen phosphorylase during acute myocardial infarction is presented. This method was based on the synthesis of photoaffinity probes, and used the semiquantitative protein electrophoretic mobility shift technique. Three novel photoaffinity probes bearing different secondary tags were synthesized. Their potency was evaluated in an enzyme inhibition assay against rabbit muscle glycogen phosphorylase a (RMGPa). The inhibitory activity of probe 1 was only 100-fold less potent than the mother compound CP-320626. The photoaffinity labeling experiments were also performed, and a protein with molecular weight (MW) of about 90⁻100 kDa, which was consistent with the MW of GP, was clearly labeled by probe 1. A semiquantitative evaluation of the GP level in serum with probe 1 was also performed. The results showed that the protein band with a MW of about 90⁻100 kDa was tagged, and the concentration of the protein in serum was found to be between 25 and 50 ng/mL. Mass spectrometric analysis revealed that alpha-1,4 glucan phosphorylase (GPMM) was well-preserved in the bands.

Abstract
Endothelial dysfunction is one of the main pathological changes in Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). The Rho kinase (ROCK) pathway is associated with endothelial dysfunction. However, the interaction between ROCK and nuclear factor of activated T cells isoform c3 (NFATc3) in the development of this pathological response under chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) is unclear. To simulate the OSA model, we established a moderate CIH rat model by administering the fraction of inspired O2 (FiO2) from 21% to 9%, 20 times/h, 8 h/day for 3 weeks. Fasudil (ROCK inhibitor, 8 mg/kg/d, i.p.) was administrated in the rats exposed to CIH for 3 weeks. Our results demonstrated that CIH caused significantly endothelial dysfunction, accompanying with increased ET-1 level, decreased eNOS expression and NO production, which reduced ACh-induced vascular relaxation responses. Moreover, RhoA/ROCK-2/NFATc3 expressions were up-regulated. Fasudil significantly improved CIH induced endothelial dysfunction. Data suggested that the ROCK activation is necessary for endothelial dysfunction during CIH.

Abstract
In this paper, we first define the Teodorescu operator [Formula: see text] related to the Helmholtz equation and discuss its properties in quaternion analysis. Then we propose the Riemann boundary value problem related to the Helmholtz equation. Finally we give the integral representation of the boundary value problem by using the previously defined operator.
