Abstract
Ligands play a critical role in the optical properties and chemical stability of colloidal nanocrystals (NCs), but identifying ligands that can enhance NC properties is daunting, given the high dimensionality of chemical space. Here, we use machine learning (ML) and robotic screening to accelerate the discovery of ligands that enhance the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of CsPbBr3 perovskite NCs. We developed a ML model designed to predict the relative PL enhancement of perovskite NCs when coordinated with a ligand selected from a pool of 29,904 candidate molecules. Ligand candidates were selected using an active learning (AL) approach that accounted for uncertainty quantified by twin regressors. After eight experimental iterations of batch AL (corresponding to 21 initial and 72 model-recommended ligands), the uncertainty of the model decreased, demonstrating an increased confidence in the model predictions. Feature importance and counterfactual analyses of model predictions illustrate the potential use of ligand field strength in designing PL-enhancing ligands. Our versatile AL framework can be readily adapted to screen the effect of ligands on a wide range of colloidal nanomaterials.

Abstract
Graphene's wetting transparency offers promising avenues for creating multifunctional devices by allowing real-time wettability control on liquid substrates via the flow of different liquids beneath graphene. Despite its potential, direct measurement of floating graphene's wettability remains a challenge, hindering the exploration of these applications. The current study develops an experimental methodology to assess the wetting transparency of single-layer graphene (SLG) on liquid substrates. By employing contact angle measurements and Neumann's Triangle model, the challenge of evaluating the wettability of floating free-suspended single-layer graphene is addressed. The research reveals that for successful contact angle measurements, the testing and substrate liquids must be immiscible. Using diiodomethane as the testing liquid and ammonium persulfate solution as liquid substrate, the study demonstrates the near-complete wetting transparency of graphene. Furthermore, it successfully showcases the feasibility of real-time wettability control using graphene on liquid substrates. This work not only advances the understanding of graphene's interaction with liquid interfaces but also suggests a new avenue for the development of multifunctional materials and devices by exploiting the unique wetting transparency of graphene.

Abstract
Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is an accommodation of the cardiopulmonary bypass technique that can support gas exchange and hemodynamic stability. It is used as a salvage maneuver in patients with life-threatening respiratory or cardiac failure that does not respond to conventional treatment. There are few case reports of successful perioperative use of ECMO, especially preoperatively, in liver transplantation (LT). Here, we report an experience of successful anesthetic management in deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT) by applying perioperative veno-venous (VV) ECMO support in the setting of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) aggravated by hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS). Case: A 25-year-old female (156.0 cm, 65.0 kg), without any underlying disease, was referred to our emergency department for decreased mentality. Based on imaging and laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with acute liver failure of unknown cause combined with severe ARDS aggravated by HPS. Since the patient faced life-threatening hypoxemia with a failure of conventional ventilation maneuvers, preoperative VV ECMO was initiated and maintained during the operation. The patient remained hemodynamically stable throughout DDLT, and ARDS showed gradual improvement after the administration of VV ECMO. As ARDS improved, the patient's condition alleviated, and VV ECMO was weaned on postoperative day 6. Conclusions: This case demonstrates that VV ECMO may be a useful therapeutic option not only during the intraoperative and postoperative periods but also in the preoperative period for patients with liver failure combined with reversible respiratory failure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Remimazolam is a novel benzodiazepine with fast onset and short half-life. We compared the effects of remimazolam and propofol on recovery profiles for general anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHODS We randomly assigned 108 patients to either a remimazolam (n=54) or propofol (n=54) group. Remimazolam and propofol were used for induction and maintanance of anesthesia. Following anesthesia, we recorded the time until an Aldrete score of 9 was achieved as the primary surrogate marker of complete recovery. The time to reach a Modified Observer's Assessment of Alertness/Sedation (MOAA/S) score of 2 and the time from the end of anesthesia to eye opening time, recovery time of orientation, time to spontaneous breathing, extubation time, and the time required for analgesics were measured. Heart rate, blood pressure, and bispectral index were assessed before, during, and after pneumoperitoneum. RESULTS We included 101 patients in the analysis. In the remimazolam group, it took longer to reach an Aldrete score of 9 after the drug infusion ended (P = 0.031). There was no difference in the time to reach MOAA/S 2 between the two groups. The time to eye opening, recovery time of orientation, and time required for analgesics were longer and heart rate was higher in the remimazolam group. Neither blood pressure, nor extubation time differed between groups. CONCLUSIONS Remimazolam and propofol provided safe induction and maintenance of anesthesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The recovery time from anesthesia was longer than that with propofol. Fewer hemodynamic changes were observed with remimazolam, but further studies are needed.

Abstract
Spinach has been suggested as a potential rotation crop for increasing crop yield by enhancing beneficial fungal microbes in continuous monocropping. However, no research on the use of spinach as a green manure has been reported. Thus, we tested the effects of spinach and Korean mustard cultivars (green and red mustards) (10 g pot -1) as green manure on soil chemical properties, pepper productivity, and soil microbiome of long-year pepper-monocropped soil. Spinach improved the soil nutrition (e.g., pH, SOM, TN, NH4+, and K), weed suppression, and pepper growth. Spinach had by far the highest fruit yield, over 100% pepper fruit yield increment over the mustard green manures and control. Our study showed that the major influencing factors to cause a shift in both bacterial and fungal community assemblies were soil pH, TC TN, and K. Following green manure amendment Bacillota, especially Clostridium, Bacillus and Sedimentibacter, were enriched, whereas Chloroflexi and Acidobacteriota were reduced. In addition, spinach highly reduced the abundance of Leotiomycetes and Fusarium but enriched Papiliotrema. FAPROTAX and FUNGuild analysis revealed that predicted functional profiles of bacterial and fungal communities in spinach-amended soil were changed. Spinach-treated soil was differentially abundant in function related to hydrocarbon degradation and functional guilds of symbiotrophs and ectomycorrhizal. This study contributes significantly to our understanding of how the soil fertility and soil microbiome alteration via spinach green manure application as a pre-plant soil treatment might help alleviate continuous cropping obstacles.

Abstract
This dataset contains raw and analyzed microbial data for the samples of spontaneously fermented Ethiopian honey wine, Tej, collected from three locations of Ethiopia. It was generated using culture independent amplicon sequencing technique. To gain a better understanding of microbial community variance and similarity across Tej samples from the same and different locations, the raw sequenced data obtained from the Illumina Miseq sequencer was subjected to a bioinformatics analysis. Lower diversity and richness of both bacterial and fungal communities were observed for all of the Tej samples. Besides, samples collected from Debre Markos area showed a significant discriminating tax for both bacterial and fungal communities. In nutshell, this amplicon sequencing dataset provides a useful collection of data for modernizing this spontaneous fermentation into a directed inoculated fermentation. Detail discussion on microbiome of Tej samples is given in [1].

Abstract
We report the fabrication of DNA-templated Pt nanostructures by area-selective atomic layer deposition. A DNA-templated self-assembled monolayer was used to mediate the area-selective deposition of Pt. Using this approach, we demonstrated the fabrication of both single- and two-component nanostructure patterns, including Pt, TiO2/Pt, and Al2O3/Pt. These nanoscale patterns were used as hard masks for plasma deep etching of Si to fabricate anti-reflection surfaces. This work demonstrated a gas-phase, DNA-templated fabrication of metal nanostructures, which complements earlier work of solution-based DNA metallization. The nanostructures obtained here are useful for applications in nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, and surface engineering.

Abstract
This paper reports the effect of mechanically applied elastic strain on the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity of graphene under acidic conditions. An applied tensile strain of 0.2% on a graphene electrode is shown to lead to a 1-3% increase in the HER current. The tensile strain increases HER activity, whereas compressive strain decreases it. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations using a periodic graphene slab model predict an increase in the adsorption energy of the H atom with growing tensile strain, consistent with an enhancement of the current density in HER, similar to that observed experimentally.

Abstract
This paper reports the fabrication and mechanical properties of macroscale graphene fibers (diameters of 10 to 100 μm with lengths upwards of 2 cm) prepared from a single sheet of single-layer graphene grown via chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The breaking strength of these graphene fibers increased with consecutive tensile test measurements on a single fiber, where fiber fragments produced from a prior test exhibited larger breaking strengths. Additionally, we observed an overall reduction of surface folds and wrinkles, and an increase in their alignment parallel to the tensile direction. We propose that a foundation of this property is the plastic deformations within the fiber that accumulate through sequential tensile testing. Through this cyclic method, our best fiber produced a strength of 2.67 GPa with a 1 mm gauge length.

Abstract
Pristine graphene is fairly inert chemically, and as such, most application-driven studies use graphene oxide, or reduced graphene oxide. Using substrates to modulate the reactivity of graphene represents a unique strategy in the covalent functionalization of this otherwise fairly inert material. It was found that the reactivity of pristine graphene towards perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA) can be enhanced by a metal substrate on which graphene is supported. Results on the extent of functionalization, defect density, and reaction kinetics all show that graphene supported on Ni (G/Ni) has the highest reactivity toward PFPA, followed by G/Cu and then G/silicon wafer. DFT calculations suggest that the metal substrate stabilizes the physisorbed nitrene through enhanced electron transfer to the singlet nitrene from the graphene surface assisted by the electron rich metal substrate. The G/Ni substantially stabilizes the singlet nitrene relative to G/Cu and the free-standing graphene. The product structure is also predicted to be substrate dependent. These findings open up opportunities to enhance the reactivity of pristine graphene simply through the selection of the substrate. This also represents a new and powerful approach to increasing the reactivity of singlet nitrenes through direct electronic communication with graphene.

Abstract
Dermoid cysts are lined by keratinizing squamous epithelium and consist of skin appendages such as hair follicles, apocrine glands, and sebaceous glands. They are usually diagnosed during infancy or early childhood, commonly reported in the head and neck region. A dermoid cyst on the back is extremely rare, with only three cases in the pediatric and adult populations. We report a rare case of a dermoid cyst in the subcutaneous layer of the back in an adult. A 75-year-old man presented with a soft, painless mass on his left upper back. Computed tomography revealed a low-density mass nearly identical to the subcutaneous fat in the subcutaneous layer with nodular soft-tissue density components. It was a heterogeneously hyperechoic mass without internal vascularity on ultrasonography. On magnetic resonance imaging, the lesion showed nearly identical signal intensity (SI) to subcutaneous fat on T1 and T2-weighted images. The soft tissue component was intermediately hyperintense on T1- and T2- weighted images with enhancement. This lesion was pre-operatively suspected as a lipoma variant or a well-differentiated liposarcoma/atypical lipomatous tumor because of the fat density or SI and enhancing portion. We demonstrated and reviewed the multimodality imaging features of dermoid cysts at an unusual location and suggested imaging features that could help readers differentiate dermoid cysts from lipomatous tumors. When a mass shows fat density or SI with or without enhancing soft tissue components at the trunk or extremity, dermoid cysts as well as lipomatous tumors could be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Abstract
In 2019, the Korean Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine developed the first Korean clinical practice guidelines for prenatal aneuploidy screening and diagnostic testing. These guidelines were developed by adapting established clinical practice guidelines in other countries that were searched systematically, and the guidelines aim to assist in decision making of healthcare providers providing prenatal care and to be used as a source for education and communication with pregnant women in Korea. This article delineates clinical practice guidelines specifically for maternal serum screening for fetal aneuploidy and cell-free DNA (cfDNA) screening. A total of 19 key questions (12 for maternal serum and 7 for cfDNA screening) were defined. The main recommendations are: 1) Pregnant women should be informed of common fetal aneuploidy that can be detected, risks for chromosomal abnormality according to the maternal age, detection rate and false positive rate for common fetal aneuploidy with each screening test, limitations, as well as the benefits and risks of invasive diagnostic testing, 2) It is ideal to give counseling about prenatal aneuploidy screening and diagnostic testing at the first prenatal visit, and counseling is recommended to be given early in pregnancy, 3) All pregnant women should be informed about maternal serum screening regardless of their age, 4) cfDNA screening can be used for the screening of trisomy 21, 18, 13 and sex-chromosome aneuploidy. It is not recommended for the screening of microdeletion, 5) The optimal timing of cfDNA screening is 10 weeks of gestation and beyond, and 6) cfDNA screening is not recommended for women with multiple gestations. The guideline was reviewed and approved by the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences.

Abstract
The Korean Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine proposed the first Korean guideline on prenatal aneuploidy screening and diagnostic testing, in April 2019. The clinical practice guideline (CPG) was developed for Korean women using an adaptation process based on good-quality practice guidelines, previously developed in other countries, on prenatal screening and invasive diagnostic testing for fetal chromosome abnormalities. We reviewed current guidelines and developed a Korean CPG on invasive diagnostic testing for fetal chromosome abnormalities according to the adaptation process. Recommendations for selected 11 key questions are: 1) Considering the increased risk of fetal loss in invasive prenatal diagnostic testing for fetal genetic disorders, it is not recommended for all pregnant women aged over 35 years. 2) Because early amniocentesis performed before 14 weeks of pregnancy increases the risk of fetal loss and malformation, chorionic villus sampling (CVS) is recommended for pregnant women who will undergo invasive prenatal diagnostic testing for fetal genetic disorders in the first trimester of pregnancy. However, CVS before 9 weeks of pregnancy also increases the risk of fetal loss and deformity. Thus, CVS is recommended after 9 weeks of pregnancy. 3) Amniocentesis is recommended to distinguish true fetal mosaicism from confined placental mosaicism. 4) Anti-immunoglobulin should be administered within 72 hours after the invasive diagnostic testing. 5) Since there is a high risk of vertical transmission, an invasive prenatal diagnostic testing is recommended according to the clinician's discretion with consideration of the condition of the pregnant woman. 6) The use of antibiotics is not recommended before or after an invasive diagnostic testing. 7) The chromosomal microarray test as an alternative to the conventional cytogenetic test is not recommended for all pregnant women who will undergo an invasive diagnostic testing. 8) Amniocentesis before 14 weeks of gestation is not recommended because it increases the risk of fetal loss and malformation. 9) CVS before 9 weeks of gestation is not recommended because it increases the risk of fetal loss and malformation. 10) Although the risk of fetal loss associated with invasive prenatal diagnostic testing (amniocentesis and CVS) may vary based on the proficiency of the operator, the risk of fetal loss due to invasive prenatal diagnostic testing is higher in twin pregnancies than in singleton pregnancies. 11) When a monochorionic twin is identified in early pregnancy and the growth and structure of both fetuses are consistent, an invasive prenatal diagnostic testing can be performed on one fetus alone. However, an invasive prenatal diagnostic testing is recommended for each fetus in cases of pregnancy conceived via in vitro fertilization, or in cases in which the growth of both fetuses differs, or in those in which at least one fetus has a structural abnormality. The guidelines were established and approved by the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences. This guideline is revised and presented every 5 years.

Background/Introduction
Previous studies have focused on only 1 or 2 echocardiographic parameters as prognostic marker in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
Purpose
Various echocardiographic parameters in the same patient were systemically evaluated for their prognostic significance in AIS.
Methods
A total of 900 patients with AIS who underwent transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) (72.6 ± 12.0 years and 60% male) were retrospectively reviewed. Composite events including all-cause mortality, non-fatal stroke, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and coronary revascularization were assessed during clinical follow-up.
Results
During a median follow-up of 3.3 years (interquartile range, 0.6-5.1 years), there were 151 (16.8%) composite events. Univariable analyses showed that low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (< 60%), increased peak tricuspid regurgitation (TR) velocity (> 2.8 m/s) and aortic valve (AV) sclerosis were associated with composite events (P < 0.05 for each). In the multivariable analyses after controlling for potential confounders, LVEF < 60% (hazard ratio [HR], 1.90; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.30-2.77; P = 0.001) and AV sclerosis (HR, 1.56; 95% CI, 1.10-2.21; P = 0.013) were independent prognostic factors associated with composite events. Multivariable analysis showed that HR for composite events gradually increased according to LVEF and AV sclerosis: HR was 2.8-fold higher in the highest-risk group than in the lowest group (P = 0.001).
Conclusions
In patients with AIS, LVEF < 60% and the presence of AV sclerosis predicts the future vascular events. Patients with AIS exhibiting reduced LVEF and AV sclerosis may benefit from aggressive secondary prevention

Background
Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is a major underlying etiology in patients with heart failure (HF). Although the impact of IHD on HF is evolving, there is a lack of understanding of how IHD affects long-term clinical outcomes and uncertainty about the role of IHD in determining the risk of clinical outcomes by gender.
Purpose
This study aims to evaluate the gender difference in impact of IHD on long-term clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
Methods
Study data were obtained from the nationwide registry which is a prospective multicenter cohort and included patients who were hospitalized for HF composed of 3,200 patients. A total of 1,638 patients with HFrEF were classified into gender (women 704 and men 934). The primary outcome was all-cause death during follow-up and the composite clinical events of all-cause death and HF readmission during follow-up were also obtained. HF readmission was defined as re-hospitalization because of HF exacerbation.
Results
133 women (18.9%) were died and 168 men (18.0%) were died during follow-up (median 489 days; inter-quartile range, 162–947 days). As underlying cause of HF, IHD did not show significant difference between genders. Women with HFrEF combined with IHD had significantly lower cumulative survival rate than women without IHD at long-term follow-up (74.8% vs. 84.9%, Log Rank p=0.001, Figure 1). However, men with HFrEF combined with IHD had no significant difference in survival rate compared with men without IHD (79.3% vs. 83.8%, Log Rank p=0.067). After adjustment for confounding factors, Cox regression analysis showed that IHD had a 1.43-fold increased risk for all-cause mortality independently only in women. (odds ratio 1.43, 95% confidence interval 1.058–1.929, p=0.020). On the contrary to the death-free survival rates, there were significant differences in composite clinical events-free survival rates between patients with HFrEF combined with IHD and HFrEF without IHD in both genders.

Conclusions
IHD as predisposing cause of HF was an important risk factor for long-term mortality in women with HFrEF. Clinician need to aware of gender-based characteristics in patients with HF and should manage and monitor them appropriately and gender-specifically. Women with HF caused by IHD also should be treated more meticulously to avoid a poor prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Abdominal wall hernias are common in patients with ascites. Elective surgical repair is recommended for the treatment of abdominal wall hernias. However, surgical hernia repair in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites is controversial. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the outcomes of elective surgical hernia repair in patients with liver cirrhosis with and without refractory ascites. METHOD From January 2005 to June 2018, we retrospectively reviewed the records of consecutive patients with liver cirrhosis who underwent a surgical hernia repair. RESULTS This study included 107 patients; 31 patients (29.0%) had refractory ascites. Preoperatively, cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites had a higher median model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score (13.0 vs 11.0, P = 0.001) than those without refractory ascites. The 30-day mortality rate (3.2% vs 0%, P = 0.64) and the risk of recurrence (hazard ratio 0.410; 95% CI 0.050-3.220; P = 0.39) did not differ significantly between cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites and cirrhotic patients without refractory ascites. Among cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites, albumin (P = 0.23), bilirubin (P = 0.37), creatinine (P = 0.97), and sodium levels (P = 0.35) did not change significantly after surgery. CONCLUSION In advanced liver cirrhosis patients with refractory ascites, hernias can be safely treated with elective surgical repair. Mortality rate within 30 days did not differ by the presence or absence of refractory ascites. Elective hernia repair might be beneficial for treatment of abdominal wall hernia in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM We investigated the correlation between texture features on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps and histological vascular parameters of FN13762 rat breast cancers after antiangiogenic therapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS FN13762 cancer cells were implanted into 30 rats, and bevacizumab was intraperitoneally administered to 15 (treated group). For each rat, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was obtained at five time points after baseline examination. Serial texture analyses were performed on ADC maps and extracted texture parameters were correlated with histological vascular parameters. RESULTS Entropy of the ADC values correlated with microvessel density in the treated group (r=0.493, p=0.06). Hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha showed the highest correlation coefficient with the 5th percentile ADC value (r=0.844, p<0.001). Vascular endothelial growth factor was significantly correlated with homogeneity on ADC map (r=-0.521, p=0.046). In the control group, no texture features showed significant correlations with histological vascular parameters. CONCLUSION ADC map texture features may reflect histological vascular changes after antiangiogenic therapy.

Abstract
Background/Aims Although forceps biopsy is performed for suspicious gastric tumors during endoscopy, it is difficult to determine treatment strategies for atypical gastric glands due to uncertainty of the diagnosis. The aim of this study was to investigate clinical implications and risk factors for predicting malignancy in atypical gastric glands during forceps biopsy. Methods We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 252 patients with a diagnosis of atypical gastric gland during forceps biopsy. Predictors of malignancy were analyzed using initial endoscopic findings and clinical data. Results The final diagnosis for 252 consecutive patients was gastric cancer in 189 (75%), adenoma in 26 (10.3%), and gastritis in 37 (14.7%). In the multivariate analysis, lesion sizes of more than 10 mm (odds ratio [OR], 3.021; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.480 to 6.165; p=0.002), depressed morphology (OR, 3.181; 95% CI, 1.579 to 6.406, p=0.001), and surface nodularity (OR, 3.432; 95% CI, 1.667 to 7.064, p=0.001) were significant risk factors for malignancy. Conclusions Further evaluation and treatment should be considered for atypical gastric gland during forceps biopsy if there is a large-sized (>10 mm) lesion, depressed morphology, or surface nodularity.

Abstract
Hepatic fibrosis is characterized by the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM), primarily collagen, within the liver. Because reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been implicated in its pathogenesis, the use of antioxidants as a potential treatment has been broadly explored. Here, we investigated the hepatoprotective properties of ramalin (RM), a compound extracted from the Antarctic lichen Ramalina terebrata, against hepatic fibrosis in vitro and in vivo. RM suppressed hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation in vitro without any significant signs of adverse effects on the cells tested, and the accumulation of ECM was dramatically reduced in the liver tissue. Oral administration of RM in rats noticeably improved the gross appearance of the liver with increased body and liver weight relative to the DMN injected rats, and all of the serum biochemical markers returned to the normal range. RM treatment have ameliorated hepatic fibrosis in rats induced by DMN by repressing α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and upregulating heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). In addition, RM significantly reduced collagen accumulation, and levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydroxyproline (HP) in the liver tissue of DMN injected rats. The efficacy exerted by RM was through erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) mediated antioxidant response proteins such as HO-1 and NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1 (NQO-1). Our results show the beneficial effect of RM against the progression of hepatic fibrosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and complicated grief in Korean high school students who experienced a peer suicide. METHODS A total of 956 students were included in the statistical analysis. One week after a peer suicide, a school-based crisis intervention program was conducted. The cohort was followed-up at one week and five months after a peer suicide. The program consists of screening tests, educational sessions, and further interview with psychiatric specialists for the selected group. Screening tests were conducted for all students to measure the Child Report of Post-traumatic Symptoms (CROPS), the post-traumatic stress symptoms (The University of California at Los Angeles post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] reaction index; UCLA-PTSD-RI), the anxiety symptoms (The Korean-Beck Anxiety Inventory; K-BAI), the depressive symptoms (The Korean-Beck Depression Inventory-II; K-BDI-II), and the complicated grief reaction (The Inventory of Complicated Grief; ICG). For statistical analysis, the SPSS Statistics 21.0 program was used. RESULTS At baseline and five months follow-ups, 8.6% and 2.9% of the students showed post-traumatic stress symptoms. At five months follow-up, there was a statistically significant decline in the post-traumatic stress symptoms, anxiety, depression, and complicated grief among the 'trauma group.' A higher proportion of the female students showed post-traumatic stress symptoms after the incident of peer suicide than the male students. CONCLUSION School-based crisis intervention helps improvement of trauma-related symptoms. It might be an effective way to prevent suicide spreading among students by alleviating trauma-related symptoms.

Abstract
Background: Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) has been found to be a tumor suppressor in several human cancers, but the role of IGFBP7 in gastric cancer has not yet been fully investigated. Herein, we examined the epigenetic downregulation of IGFBP7 expression in gastric cancer. Methods: Expression and methylation of IGFBP7 in gastric cancer cells and primary gastric cancer patients were determined using qRT-PCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry, and methylation specific-PCR, respectively. The effects of IGFBP7 on gastric cancer cells were investigated by various experimental conditions, such as proliferation, colony formation, apoptosis, invasion, and migration assay. Results: IGFBP7 methylation was inversely correlated with IGFBP7 expression in gastric cancer. Univariate and multivariate analysis showed that IGFBP7 expression and tumor stage were independent prognostic factors. IGFBP7 knockdown increased gastric cancer cell growth, invasion, and migration, whereas IGFBP7 overexpression in gastric cancer cells induced cell growth inhibition and apoptosis. Conclusion: Our data suggest that IGFBP7 functions as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer via an epigenetic pathway.

Abstract
Gastric cancer (GC) is a major of cause of cancer-related death and is characterized by its heterogeneity and molecular complexity. FOXO1 is a transcription factor that plays a key role in GC growth and metastasis. However, the implication of FOXO1 in GC cell stemness has been elusive. This study, for the first time, demonstrates that FOXO1 regulates GC cell stemness in association with LGR5. FOXO1 expression was significantly lower in GC tumorsphere cells than in adherent GC cells. FOXO1 silencing and overexpression promoted and inhibited the tumorsphere formation capacity of GC cells, respectively. Additionally, there was an inverse correlation between FOXO1 and GC stem cell marker LGR5 in human GC specimens. Further in vitro and in vivo experiments showed that negative crosstalk between these two molecules exists and that LGR5 silencing reversed the FOXO1 shRNA-induced tumorsphere formation even without FOXO1 restoration. Taken together, our results suggest that FOXO1 inhibits the self-renewal capacity of GC cells through interaction with LGR5. Thus, FOXO1/LGR5 signaling pathway may provide a novel targeted therapy for GC.

Abstract
Biomolecular regulatory networks are organised around hubs, which can interact with a large number of targets. These targets compete with each other for access to their common hubs, but whether the effect of this competition would be significant in magnitude and in function is not clear. In this review, the authors discuss recent in vivo studies that analysed the system level retroactive effects induced by target competition in microRNA and mitogen-activated protein kinase regulatory networks. The results of these studies suggest that downstream targets can regulate the overall state of their upstream regulators, and thus cannot be ignored in analysing biomolecular networks.

Abstract
Objective To retrospectively analyze the qualitative CT features that correlate with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-expression in pathologically-proven gastric cancers. Materials and Methods A total of 181 patients with pathologically-proven unresectable gastric cancers with HER2-expression (HER2-positive [n = 32] and negative [n = 149]) were included. CT features of primary gastric and metastatic tumors were reviewed. The prevalence of each CT finding was compared in both groups. Thereafter, binary logistic regression determined the most significant differential CT features. Clinical outcomes were compared using Kaplan-Meier method. Results HER2-postive cancers showed lower clinical T stage (21.9% vs. 8.1%; p = 0.015), hyperattenuation on portal phase (62.5% vs. 30.9%; p = 0.003), and was more frequently metastasized to the liver (62.5% vs. 32.2%; p = 0.001), than HER2-negative cancers. On binary regression analysis, hyperattenuation of the tumor (odds ratio [OR], 4.68; p < 0.001) and hepatic metastasis (OR, 4.43; p = 0.001) were significant independent factors that predict HER2-positive cancers. Median survival of HER2-positive cancers (13.7 months) was significantly longer than HER2-negative cancers (9.6 months) (p = 0.035). Conclusion HER2-positive gastric cancers show less-advanced T stage, hyperattenuation on the portal phase, and frequently metastasize to the liver, as compared to HER2-negative cancers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Increased expression of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and MET proto-oncogene (c-MET) is associated with poor prognosis in various cancer types. Recently, it was reported that the expression of HGF induces resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) targeting epidermal growth factor receptor, human epidermal receptor receptor 2, and b-raf proto-oncogene. Here, we investigated the effects of HGF overexpression in gastric cancer cells in the absence or presence of c-MET TKIs. MATERIALS AND METHODS The effects of c-MET TKIs in gastric cancer cells with and without c-MET overexpression were determined in gastric cancer cell lines with various cell biology methods. RESULTS Compared to the control, cells with induced expression of HGF showed increase in anchorage-independent colony formation (p<0.001). The c-MET TKIs inhibited HGF/c-MET downstream signaling, cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and triggered cell-cycle arrest in Hs746T cells. However, HGF-transfected cells were less affected. CONCLUSION c-MET TKIs had inhibitory effects only on cells overexpressing c-MET. Furthermore, overexpression of HGF resulted in resistance to c-MET TKIs through an autocrine manner in gastric cancer cells.

Abstract
Purpose Lapatinib is a candidate drug for treatment of trastuzumab-resistant, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)–positive gastric cancer (GC). Unfortunately, lapatinib resistance renders this drug ineffective. The present study investigated the implication of forkhead box O1 (FOXO1) signaling in the acquired lapatinib resistance in HER2-positive GC cells. Materials and Methods Lapatinib-resistant GC cell lines (SNU-216 LR2-8) were generated in vitro by chronic exposure of lapatinib-sensitive, HER2-positive SNU-216 cells to lapatinib. SNU-216 LR cells with FOXO1 overexpression were generated by stable transfection of a constitutively active FOXO1 mutant (FOXO1A3). HER2 and MET in SNU-216 LR cells were downregulated using RNA interference. The sensitivity of GC cells to lapatinib and/or cisplatin was determined by crystal violet assay. In addition, Western blot analysis, luciferase reporter assay and reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction were performed. Results SNU-216 LR cells showed upregulations of HER2 and MET, but downregulation of FOXO1 compared to parental SNU-216 cells. FOXO1 overexpression in SNU-216 LR cells significantly suppressed resistance to lapatinib and/or cisplatin. In addition, FOXO1 negatively controlled HER2 and MET at the transcriptional level and was negatively controlled by these molecules at the post-transcriptional level. A positive crosstalk was shown between HER2 and MET, each of which increased resistance to lapatinib and/or cisplatin. Conclusion FOXO1 serves as an important linker between HER2 and MET signaling pathways through negative crosstalks and is a key regulator of the acquired lapatinib resistance in HER2-positive GC cells. These findings provide a rationale for establishing a novel treatment strategy to overcome lapatinib resistance in a subtype of GC patients.

Abstract
Background One of the major genetic alterations in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the point mutation of K-ras gene. Plectin-1 was also recently identified as PDAC specific biomarker. The aim of this study was to investigate the improvement of diagnostic accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) by using additional K-ras mutation analysis and Plectin-1 staining in patients with pancreatic mass. Methods A total of 85 study patients with pancreatic mass underwent EUS-FNA and the final diagnoses were as follows; PDACs: 70 patients, pancreas neuroendocrine tumor: 4, metastasis to pancreas: 5, autoimmune pancreatitis: 3, chronic pancreatitis: 1, tuberculous lymphadenitis: 1, pseudocyst: 1. Results Sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of pathologic diagnosis in EUS-FNA specimen were 81%, 80% and 79% accordingly. When we combine K-ras gene mutation analysis with histological assessment, we could get the following results for sensitivity, specificity and accuracy; cytology and K-ras mutation analysis: 93%, 87%, and 92%, cytology, K-ras mutation analysis, and Plectin-1 staining: 96%, 93%, and 95%. Conclusions Triple combinations of the techniques; cytology, K-ras gene mutation analysis, Plectin-1 staining could increase accuracy in diagnosis of PDACs. Further investigation of using minimal specimens from EUS-FNA may give us insight to understand the biological behavior of PDAC.

Abstract
The aims of our pilot study were to test (1) the effectiveness of tactile stimulation by fathers on their infants' physiological responses such as oxygen saturation levels, heart rates (HRs), and respiration rates (RRs) and (2) fathers' perceived levels of attachment to infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This was a quasi-experimental design using a control group, which assessed pre- and post-intervention differences via t tests. Twenty neonate-father dyads participated in the intervention and 20 neonate-father dyads populated a control group from one general hospital located in South Korea. Infants in the experimental group received tactile stimulation for one 10-minute period per day, for five consecutive days. Overall, we found that tactile stimulation by fathers significantly stabilized infants' physiological status, including oxygen saturation levels, HRs, and RRs ( t = 2.138, p = .039; t = -2.348, p = .024; t = -3.461, p = .001, respectively) with effect size ranged 0.67-1.10 and increased paternal attachment levels ( t = 3.982, p = .001) with large effect size (1.29). This pilot study suggests that tactile stimulation by the father may be regarded as an important and potentially useful intervention for the care of infants in the NICU.

Abstract
Uterine carcinosarcoma is a rare, aggressive, and biphasic tumor. It comprises carcinomatous and sarcomatous components, and mitosis-associated factors are thought to discriminate these two lesions. Aurora kinases are mitotic enzymes that are highly expressed in uterine malignancies. To identify the clinical significance of aurora kinase expression, we performed immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays using cores selected from areas with typical carcinomatous and sarcomatous characteristics. A total of 24 samples were included, from patients at Seoul National University Hospital diagnosed with uterine carcinosarcoma, and who undergone a staging operation between 1997 and 2012. Patients' clinical and pathological data were analyzed, and expression patterns of aurora kinases were investigated. Aurora kinases A and B were dominantly expressed in the cytoplasm, and phospho-aurora kinases A and B were expressed in the nuclei. Phospho-aurora kinase A and aurora kinase B showed significantly higher expression in the carcinomatous component (P=0.012 and 0.008). High expression of phospho-aurora kinase A was associated with lymphatic metastasis such as positive pelvic lymph node and omental involvement (P=0.012 and 0.037). Overexpression of aurora kinase B was related to vascular invasion (P=0.011). High expression of both phospho-aurora kinase A and aurora kinase B was a prognostic factor for progression-free survival in uterine carcinosarcoma (P=0.049). In conclusion, expression of aurora kinases is associated with bidirectional tumor dissemination into the lymphatic and hematogenous pathways. In addition, high expression of phospho-aurora kinase A and aurora kinase B is a predictor of progression-free survival. Therefore, inhibitors of aurora kinases might be a prospective therapeutic options for uterine carcinosarcoma.

Abstract
Since the molecular mechanism of hypoxic adaptation in cancer cells is cell-type specific, we investigated whether glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) activation is involved in hypoxia-induced gastric tumor promotion. Stable gastric cancer cell lines (SNU-638, SNU-484, MKN1, and MKN45) were cultured under hypoxic conditions. Cells overexpressing wild-type GSK-3β (WT-GSK-3β) or kinase-dead mutant of GSK-3β (KD-GSK-3β) were generated and used for cell culture and animal studies. In cell culture experiments, hypoxia decreased GSK-3β activation in gastric cancer cells. Cell viability and the expressions of HIF-1α protein and VEGF mRNA in gastric cancer cells were higher in KD-GSK-3β transfectants than in WT-GSK-3β transfectants under hypoxic conditions, but not under normoxic conditions. Gastric cancer xenografts showed that tumor growth, microvessel area, HIF-1α activation, and VEGF expression were higher in KD-GSK-3β tumors than in WT-GSK-3β tumors in vivo. In addition, the expression of hypoxia-induced HIF-1α protein was regulated by GSK-3β at the translational level. Our data suggest that GSK-3β is involved in hypoxic adaptation of gastric cancer cells as an inhibitory upstream regulator of the HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway.

Abstract
Background Since the biological function of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) in gastric cancer remains unclear, we investigated the clinical significance of JNK activation and its association with FOXO1 activation. Methods Immunohistochemical tissue array analysis of 483 human gastric cancer specimens was performed, and the results of the immunostaining were quantified. The correlation between JNK activation (nuclear staining for pJNK) and clinicopathological features, the proliferation index, prognosis or FOXO1 inactivation (cytoplasmic staining for pFOXO1) was analyzed. The SNU-638 gastric cancer cell line was used for in vitro analysis. Results Nuclear staining of pJNK was found in 38 % of the gastric carcinomas and was higher in the early stages of pTNM (P < 0.001). pJNK staining negatively correlated with lymphatic invasion (P = 0.034) and positively correlated with intestinal type by Lauren’s classification (P = 0.037), Ki-67-labeling index (P < 0.001), cyclin D1 (P = 0.045), cyclin E (P < 0.001) and pFOXO1 (P < 0.001). JNK activation correlated with a longer patients survival (P =0.008) and patients with a JNK-active and FOXO1-inactive tumor had a higher survival rate than the remainder of the population (P = 0.004). In vitro analysis showed that JNK inhibition by SP600125 in SNU-638 cells decreased cyclin D1 protein expression and increased FOXO1 activation. Further, JNK inhibition markedly suppressed colony formation, which was partially restored by FOXO1 shRNA expression. Conclusions Our results indicate that JNK activation may serve as a valuable prognostic factor in gastric cancer, and that it is implicated in gastric tumorigenesis, at least in part, through FOXO1 inhibition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) plays a critical role in tumoral angiogenesis and HIF-1α overexpression is associated with an increased risk of patient mortality in many cancers. A number of studies have introduced perfusion computed tomography (CT) as a monitoring modality for antiangiogenic therapy. PURPOSE To investigate significance of volumetric perfusion CT parameters in relationship to HIF-1α expression in VX2 tumor rabbit models. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty VX2 carcinoma tumors of bilateral back muscles of 10 rabbits were evaluated with serial volumetric perfusion CT in 7, 10, and 14 days after tumor implantation. CT perfusion data were analyzed to calculate blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), and permeability surface area product (PS) of whole tumor and non-necrotic peripheral area (periphery). Immunohistochemical analysis of HIF-1α expression and microvessel density (MVD) was performed. RESULTS HIF-1α was expressed in 12 tumors; two, three, and seven tumors classified as scores 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Mean MVD was 24.85 ± 13.7. PS of both the whole tumor and periphery showed positive correlations with HIF-1α score (r = 0.41, P = 0.046; r = 0.43, P = 0.002, respectively). BV of periphery showed a negative correlation with HIF-1α (r = -0.48, P = 0.040). There was strong positive correlation between HIF-1α expression and MVD (r = 0.82, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION In VX2 tumors, volumetric perfusion CT parameters were of limited value for the prediction of HIF-1α activity although HIF-1α expression was found to be weakly positively correlated with PS and negatively correlated with BV.

Abstract
Objective Although nerve-sparing radical surgery (NSRS) is an emerging technique for reducing surgery-related dysfunctions, its efficacy is controversial in patients with cervical cancer. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to compare clinical outcomes, and urinary, anorectal, and sexual dysfunctions between conventional radical surgery (CRS) and NSRS. Methods After searching PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, two randomized controlled trials, seven prospective and eleven retrospective cohort studies were included with 2,253 patients from January 2000 to February 2014. We performed crude analyses and then conducted subgroup analyses according to study design, quality of study, surgical approach, radicality, and adjustment for potential confounding factors. Results Crude analyses showed decreases in blood loss, hospital stay, frequency of intraoperative complications, length of the resected vagina, duration of postoperative catheterization (DPC), urinary frequency, and abnormal sensation in NSRS, whereas there were no significant differences in other clinical parameters and dysfunctions between CRS and NSRS. In subgroup analyses, operative time was longer (standardized difference in means, 0.948; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.642 to 1.253), while intraoperative complications were less common (odds ratio, 0.147; 95% CI, 0.035 to 0.621) in NSRS. Furthermore, subgroup analyses showed that DPC was shorter, urinary incontinence or frequency, and constipation were less frequent in NSRS without adverse effects on survival and sexual functions. Conclusion NSRS may not affect prognosis and sexual dysfunctions in patients with cervical cancer, whereas it may decrease intraoperative complications, and urinary and anorectal dysfunctions despite long operative time and short length of the resected vagina when compared with CRS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The metabolic enzyme, glycine dehydrogenase (GLDC), involved in glycine metabolism, is known to be involved in non-ketotic hyperglycinemia but not in cancer. Herein, we investigated GLDC expression and its promoter methylation in gastric cancer (GC). MATERIALS AND METHODS GLDC expression and epigenetics were investigated using GC cell lines and tissues. Functional studies were also performed for identification of a correlation between methylated GLDC genes and gastric cancer progression. RESULTS The results of the study can be summarized as follows: (i) GLDC was silenced in GC cell lines and tissues. The down-regulation of GLDC was closely linked to promoter methylation. (ii) Knockdown of GLDC increased cell proliferation, migration, invasion, colony formation and reduced apoptosis. (iii) In GC tissues, hypermethylation of GLDC had a significant correlation with down-regulation of the GLDC protein compared to normal gastric tissues. CONCLUSION GLDC is a putative tumor suppressor gene involved in gastric cancer progression and hypermethylation of the GLDC promoter regulates its transcriptional silencing.

Abstract
We aimed to validate the Inventory of Complicated Grief (ICG)-Korean version among 1,138 Korean adolescents, representing a response rate of 57% of 1,997 students. Participants completed a set of questionnaires including demographic variables (age, sex, years of education, experience of grief), the ICG, the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Lifetime Incidence of Traumatic Events-Child (LITE-C). Exploratory factor analysis was performed to determine whether the ICG items indicated complicated grief in Korean adolescents. The internal consistency of the ICG-Korean version was Cronbach's α=0.87. The test-retest reliability for a randomly selected sample of 314 participants in 2 weeks was r=0.75 (P<0.001). Concurrent validity was assessed using a correlation between the ICG total scores and the CDI total scores (r=0.75, P<0.001). The criterion-related validity based on the comparison of ICG total scores between adolescents without complicated grief (1.2 ± 3.7) and adolescent with complicated grief (3.2 ± 6.6) groups was relatively high (t=5.71, P<0.001). The data acquired from the 1,138 students was acceptable for a factor analysis (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy=0.911; Bartlett's Test of Sphericity, χ(2)=13,144.7, P<0.001). After omission of 3 items, the value of Cronbach's α increased from 0.87 for the 19-item ICG-Korean version to 0.93 for the 16-item ICG-Korean version. These results suggest that the ICG is a useful tool in assessing for complicated grief in Korean adolescents. However, the 16-item version of the ICG appeared to be more valid compared to the 19-item version of the ICG. We suggest that the 16-item version of the ICG be used to screen for complicated grief in Korean adolescents.

Abstract
The Rostovskii state medical university of Minzdrav of Russia, 344022 Rostov-on-Don, Russia The analysis is applied concerning significance of laboratory techniques of verification of streptococcus infection (bacteriological analysis, detection of anti-streptolysin O in pair serums) in 148 patients with infectious mononucleosis aged from 3 to 15 years. The content of anti-streptolysin O exceeded standard in 41 ± 4.8% of patients with concomitant in acute period and in 49.5 ± 4.9% during period of re-convalescence. This data differed from analogous indicator in patients with negative result of examination on streptococcus infection independently of period of disease (9.3 ± 2.8%). The exceeding of standard of anti-streptolysin O was detected more frequently (t ≥ 2, P ≥ 95%) in patients with isolation of Streptococcus pyogenes (56.9 ± 5.8%) than in patients with Streptococcus viridans (31.2 ± 6.5%). The concentration of anti-streptolysin 0 in patients with concomitant streptococcus infection varied within limits 200-1800 IE/ml. The minimal level of anti-streptolysin O (C = 200 IE/mI) was detected independently of type of isolated Streptococcus and period of disease. The high levels of anti-streptolysin O were observed exclusively in patients with isolation of Streptococcus pyogenes. In blood serum ofpatient with concomitant streptococcus infection (Streptococcus pyogenes + Streptococcus viridans) increasing of level of anti-streptolysin O was detected in dynamics of diseases from minimal (C = 200 IE/ ml) to moderately high (200 < C < 400 IE/mI). It is demonstrated that to identify streptococcus infection in patients with infectious mononucleosis the anamnesis data is to be considered. The complex bacteriological and serological examination ofpatients is to be implemented This is necessary for early detection ofpatients with streptococcus infection and decreasing risk of formation of streptococcus carrier state.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to evaluate the protein and mRNA expression of fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and mRNA in situ hybridization (ISH), respectively, and to assess the heterogeneity of FGFR2 expression in gastric cancer (GC). METHODS A tissue microarray containing 362 surgically resected GC tissues and 135 matched metastatic lymph nodes was evaluated using FGFR2b IHC and FGFR2 ISH. FGFR2 fluorescence ISH was also performed in 188 cases. RESULTS All FGFR2-amplified cases (5 of 188) showed FGFR2b protein and FGFR2 mRNA overexpression (p < 0.001), and FGFR2 amplification was not identified in FGFR2b IHC- and FGFR2 mRNA ISH-negative cases. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that FGFR2b protein and FGFR2 mRNA overexpression was significantly associated with a poor overall survival (p < 0.001 and p = 0.012, respectively), and multivariate analyses showed that FGFR2 mRNA overexpression was an independent biomarker of a poor overall survival. Intratumoral heterogeneity of FGFR2b protein and FGFR2 mRNA overexpression was observed in 5 of 9 (55.5%) and 18 of 21 (85.7%) cases, respectively. Discordant FGFR2b and FGFR2 expression results between primary and matched metastatic lymph nodes were observed in 5 of 9 (55.5%) and 4 of 14 (28.6%) cases, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Intratumoral heterogeneity and discordant FGFR2b expression in primary tumors and metastatic lymph nodes are common in GC.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Valproic acid (VPA) has been reported to have survival and neuroprotective effects in a cardiac arrest rat model. This study was designed to investigate the effect of VPA combined with therapeutic hypothermia (HT) in an asphyxial cardiac arrest rat model. METHODS Rats were subjected to 6 minutes of asphyxial cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed and then the randomly allocated to 1 of 4 groups (normal saline [NS]/normothermia [NT], VPA/NT, NS/HT, and VPA/HT). Hypothermia (32.5°C ± 0.5°C, 4 hours of HT and 2 hours of rewarming) or NT (37°C ± 0.5°C for 6 hours) was applied, and VPA (300 mg/kg) or NS was administered immediately after the return of spontaneous circulation. Neurologic deficit score was measured, and a tape removal test was performed for 3 days. Histologic injury of hippocampus was evaluated. RESULTS Valproic acid significantly improved neurologic deficit score at 48 and 72 hours in the NT-treated rats and at 72 hours in the HT-treated rats (all P < .05). Although the latency and success rate were not significantly different between the VPA/NT and NS/NT groups, the VPA/HT group showed significantly lower latency and higher success rates compared to the NS/HT group (P < .05). The histologic injury score in the hippocampal CA1 sector was significantly lower in the VPA/NT group than the NS/NT group (P < .05) and showed a tendency to be decreased in the VPA/HT group compared with the NS/HT group (P = .06). CONCLUSION In an asphyxial cardiac arrest rat model, administration of VPA improved neurologic outcomes and added a neuroprotective effect to HT.
