Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aims to examine the rates of anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after hospital discharge among COVID-19 survivors and to determine the associated risk factors. METHODS Adult COVID-19 survivors discharged from hospitals between March 2020 and March 2021 were asked to complete a questionnaire at 4 weeks after discharge. The Chinese version of the 22-item Impact of Event Scale - Revised (IES-R) was used to measure symptoms of PTSD. The 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) was used to assess symptoms of major depressive disorder. The 7-item Generalised Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) was used to measure symptoms of generalised anxiety disorder. The rates of anxiety, depression, and PTSD among discharged patients were determined, as were associations between psychosocial factors and outcome measures and predictors for moderate-tosevere symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. RESULTS 96 men and 103 women aged 18 to 81 years returned the completed questionnaire. 12.1% to 20.1% of them reported symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Higher symptom severity was associated with higher perceived life threat, lower emotional support, lower disease severity upon admission, and longer hospital stay. Women had more PTSD symptoms than men, particularly when knowing someone under quarantine. CONCLUSION COVID-19 survivors with higher perceived life threat, lower emotional support, lower disease severity upon admission, and longer hospital stay were associated with higher severity of symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Timely intervention should provide to at-risk survivors.

Abstract
A 2-year-old mixed breed dog presented with a 1-year history of crust and erosion on the nasal planum. Because histopathological examination revealed ruptured intraepidermal pustules and superficial dermal inflammation, the dog was diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus. Human intravenous immunoglobulin was administered in two consecutive doses of 0.5 g/kg/day due to poor therapeutic response to previous immunosuppressive therapy. From Day 3 after the first dose of human intravenous immunoglobulin, tachypnoea, pale mucous membrane, haemoglobinuria and haemoglobinemia were observed, thus confirming haemolytic anaemia. Other drug-induced haemolytic anaemias were excluded because no additional drugs had been administered before the haemolysis occurred. Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia was also excluded because the direct antiglobulin test was negative. Two transfusions were performed, and haemolysis was not observed from Day 4 of haemolytic anaemia onset. In conclusion, human intravenous immunoglobulin-induced haemolytic anaemia should be considered in dogs that develop haemolysis following the administration of human intravenous immunoglobulin.

Abstract
All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) based on ceramic materials are considered a key technology for automobiles and energy storage systems owing to their high safety and stability. However, contact issues between the electrode and solid-electrolyte materials and undesired chemical reaction occurring at interfaces have hindered their development. Herein, the chemical compatibility and structural stability of composite mixtures of the layered cathode materials Li1- x Ni0.5 Co0.2 Mn0.3 O2 (NCM523) with the garnet-type solid electrolyte Li6.25 Ga0.25 La3 Zr2 O12 (LLZO-Ga) during high-temperature co-sintering under various gas flowing conditions are investigated. In situ high-temperature X-ray diffraction analysis of the composite materials reveals that Li diffusion from LLZO-Ga to NCM523 occurs at high temperature under synthetic air atmosphere, resulting in the decomposition of LLZO-Ga into La2 Zr2 O7 and the recovery of charged NCM523 to the as-prepared state. The structural stability of the composite mixture at high temperature is further investigated under N2 atmosphere, revealing that Li diffuses toward the opposite direction and involves the phase transition of LLZO-Ga from a cubic to tetragonal structure and the reduction of the NCM523 cathode to Ni metal. These findings provide insight into the structural stability of layered cathode and garnet-type solid-electrolyte composite materials and the design of stable interfaces between them via co-sintering for ASSBs.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
There are limited data on the association between cholesterol levels and stroke risk in atrial fibrillation (AF).
Objective
To quantify the association of stroke rate in AF with low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels and statin use.
Methods
Using linked administrative databases in Ontario, Canada, we conducted a population-based retrospective cohort study of patients aged ≥66 years, diagnosed with AF between 2009–2019. We used cause-specific hazard regression to determine the association of statin use with stroke rate. We developed a second cause-specific regression model for patients with at least one lipid profile measurement in the year before AF diagnosis to study the association of LDL levels with stroke rate, while adjusting for statin use. LDL levels were modeled using restricted cubic splines (RCS). Both models were adjusted for age, sex, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, stroke or transient ischemic attack, and vascular disease at baseline, plus anticoagulation as a time-varying covariate.
Results
We studied 261,659 qualifying patients (median age 78 years, 49% female), of whom 3,954 (1.5%) developed a stroke during one-year follow-up. A total of 142,834 (54.6%) patients were treated with statins and 145,775 (55.7%) had lipid measurements before AF diagnosis. The adjusted RCS analyses (see Figure) indicated increasing hazard ratios (HRs) for stroke with increasing low-density lipoprotein (LDL) values above 1.5mmol/L. Statin use was associated with a lower stroke rate relative to non-users (hazard ratio 0.87, 95% confidence interval 0.81–0.93, p-value <0.0001).
Conclusion
LDL levels above 1.5mmol/L were independently associated with higher stroke rates in patients with AF, while statins were associated with lower stroke rates independent of anticoagulation. This suggests that LDL measurements may improve stroke risk stratification in AF, while statins may offer an underutilized pathway to lower stroke risk in AF.

Abstract
Dramatic increases in fossil fuel consumption inevitably led to the emission of huge amounts of CO₂ gas, causing abnormalities in the climate system. Despite continuous efforts to resolve global atmospheric problems through CO₂ capture and separation, success has been limited by poor CO₂ selectivity in the CO₂/N₂ mixture. Herein, we demonstrate the fabrication of a three-dimensional (3D) nanostructure from two-dimensional transition metal carbides (Ti₃C₂Tx, MXene), and assess its utility as an adsorbent in a CO₂ capture system. Through structural and textural analysis, we confirm that the as-prepared MXene possesses high size uniformity with a thickness of ~2.5 nm, and that an MXene aerogel interconnected by MXene nanosheets has a 3D porous architecture with micro/nano porosity (Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) pore size = 11.4 nm). Moreover, the MXene aerogel exhibits favorable adsorption behavior for CO₂, due to the high-quality MXene nanosheets even with a low specific surface area. Our approach could lead to significant advances in CO₂ capture by adsorbents and open up new opportunities for mass production.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates that the actin regulator cofilin is overactivated in Alzheimer's Disease (AD), but whether this abnormality contributes to synaptic and cognitive impairments in AD is unclear. In addition, the brain region and cell types involved remain unknown. In this study, we specifically manipulate LIMK1, the key protein kinase that phosphorylates and inactivates cofilin, in the hippocampus of APP/PS1 transgenic mice. Using local injections of the AAV virus containing LIMK1 under the control of the CaMKIIα promoter, we show that expression of LIMK1 in hippocampal excitatory neurons increases cofilin phosphorylation (i.e., decreases cofilin activity), rescues impairments in long-term potentiation, and improves social memory in APP/PS1 mice. Our results suggest that deficits in LIMK1/cofilin signaling in the hippocampal excitatory neurons contribute to AD pathology and that manipulations of LIMK1/cofilin activity provide a potential therapeutic strategy to treat AD.

Abstract
Fibrates, including fenofibrate, are a class of hypolipidemic drugs that activate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα), which in-turn regulates the expression of lipid and lipoprotein metabolism genes. We investigated whether fenofibrate can reduce visceral obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease via adipose tissue PPARα activation in female ovariectomized (OVX) C57BL/6J mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD), a mouse model of obese postmenopausal women. Fenofibrate reduced body weight gain (-38%, p < 0.05), visceral adipose tissue mass (-46%, p < 0.05), and visceral adipocyte size (-20%, p < 0.05) in HFD-fed obese OVX mice. In addition, plasma levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, as well as free fatty acids, triglycerides, and total cholesterol, were decreased. Fenofibrate also inhibited hepatic lipid accumulation (-69%, p < 0.05) and infiltration of macrophages (-72%, p < 0.05), while concomitantly upregulating the expression of fatty acid β-oxidation genes targeted by PPARα and decreasing macrophage infiltration and mRNA expression of inflammatory factors in visceral adipose tissue. These results suggest that fenofibrate inhibits visceral obesity, as well as hepatic steatosis and inflammation, in part through visceral adipose tissue PPARα activation in obese female OVX mice.

Abstract
Simplicial complex (SC) representation is an elegant mathematical framework for representing the effect of complexes or groups with higher-order interactions in a variety of complex systems ranging from brain networks to social relationships. Here, we explore the homological percolation transitions (HPTs) of growing SCs using empirical datasets and model studies. The HPTs are determined by the first and second Betti numbers, which indicate the appearance of one- and two-dimensional macroscopic-scale homological cycles and cavities, respectively. A minimal SC model with two essential factors, namely, growth and preferential attachment, is proposed to model social coauthorship relationships. This model successfully reproduces the HPTs and determines the transition types as an infinite-order Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless type but with different critical exponents. In contrast to the Kahle localization observed in static random SCs, the first Betti number continues to increase even after the second Betti number appears. This delocalization is found to stem from the two aforementioned factors and arises when the merging rate of two-dimensional simplexes is less than the birth rate of isolated simplexes. Our results can provide a topological insight into the maturing steps of complex networks such as social and biological networks.

Abstract
Understanding the agglomeration of cellulose derivatives is crucial for the production of instant gum-based food thickeners. In the present study, physical, rheological, and structural properties of agglomerated water-soluble cellulose gums (CGs), such as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), and methylcellulose (MC), were investigated at different concentrations of maltodextrin (MD) as a binder for fluidized-bed agglomeration. Among the CG agglomerates in the presence of MD, CMC exhibited better flowability and lower cohesiveness, showing lower Carr index and Hausner ratio values. The MC agglomerates with 20% MD exhibited higher porosity than the other CGs due to the size enlargement of MC particles, which was confirmed via scanning electron microscopy images and size distribution profiles. The dynamic moduli of the CG agglomerates were significantly decreased by the addition of MD and also decreased with increasing MD concentration. The tan δ values of the agglomerates increased with increasing MD concentration, indicating the enhancement of their viscous properties. These results suggest that the physical, rheological, and structural properties of cellulose derivatives with different types of CG can be greatly influenced by their agglomerate growths during fluidized-bed agglomeration of particles with the different concentrations of MD binder.

Abstract
The yeast phosphatidylserine (PtdSer) decarboxylase Psd2 is proposed to engage in a membrane contact site (MCS) for PtdSer decarboxylation to phosphatidylethanolamine (PtdEtn). This proposed MCS harbors Psd2, the Sec14-like phosphatidylinositol transfer protein (PITP) Sfh4, the Stt4 phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) 4-OH kinase, the Scs2 tether, and an uncharacterized protein. We report that, of these components, only Sfh4 and Stt4 regulate Psd2 activity in vivo. They do so via distinct mechanisms. Sfh4 operates via a mechanism for which its PtdIns-transfer activity is dispensable but requires an Sfh4-Psd2 physical interaction. The other requires Stt4-mediated production of PtdIns-4-phosphate (PtdIns4P), where Stt4 (along with the Sac1 PtdIns4P phosphatase and endoplasmic reticulum–plasma membrane tethers) indirectly modulate Psd2 activity via a PtdIns4P homeostatic mechanism that influences PtdSer accessibility to Psd2. These results identify an example in which the biological function of a Sec14-like PITP is cleanly uncoupled from its canonical in vitro PtdIns-transfer activity and challenge popular functional assumptions regarding lipid-transfer protein involvements in MCS function.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Melissa officinalis L. (Labiatae; lemon balm) is a traditional medicinal plant with hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects; however, how it imparts its beneficial effects remains unclear. We thus hypothesized that the herbal extract ALS-L1023, isolated from Melissa officinalis, inhibits obesity and diabetes, and tested our hypothesis using Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima fatty (OLETF) rats, which are an established animal model of type 2 diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, 28-week-old OLETF rats were fed a high-fat diet for 4 weeks to induce a marked impairment of the insulin response and were treated with or without ALS-L1023. Subsequently, the variables and determinants of glucose metabolism and pancreatic function were assessed via blood analysis, histology, immunohistochemistry, and real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS The administration of ALS-L1023 resulted in a weight reduction without changes in food intake. It also markedly inhibited hyperglycemia and hypoinsulinemia, and restored β-cell mass that was severely impaired in OLETF rats. There was a decrease in lipid accumulation in the liver and skeletal muscle of the obese rats after treatment with ALS-L1023. Concomitantly, there was an increase in the expression levels of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes (AMPKα2, ACOX, MCAD, and VLCAD) in the liver and skeletal muscle after ALS-L1023 treatment. Furthermore, ALS-L1023 attenuated the pancreatic inflammation including the infiltration of CD68-positive macrophages and mast cells, in addition to attenuating the expression of inflammatory factors (IL-6 and CD68). CONCLUSIONS These results suggest that treatment with ALS-L1023 may reduce weight gain, elevated glucose levels, and β-cell loss, by changing the expression of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes in the liver and skeletal muscle, including inflammatory factors in the pancreas. These findings indicate that ALS-L1023 may be an effective therapeutic strategy to treat human obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Colorectal cancer is presently the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. In this study, we identified molecular differences between hepatic and non-hepatic metastases in colorectal cancer and evaluated their prognostic significance. MATERIALS AND METHODS We downloaded primary data from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GSE6988, GSE62321, GSE50760, and GSE28722). To identify the molecular differences, we used the Significance Analysis of Microarray method. We selected nine prognostic genes (SYTL2, PTPLAD1, CDS1, RNF138, PIGR, WDR78, MYO7B, TSPAN3, and ATP5F1) with hepatic metastasis prediction score in colorectal cancer (hereafter referred to as LASSO Score). We confirmed the prognostic significance of the LASSO Score by using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, multivariate analysis, the time-dependent area under the curve (AUC) of Uno's C-index, and the AUC of the receiver operating characteristic curve at 1-5 years. RESULTS Survival analysis revealed that a high LASSO Score is associated with a poor prognosis in colorectal cancer patients with hepatic metastases (p = 0). Analysis of C-indices and AUC values from the receiver operating characteristic curve further supported this prediction by the LASSO Score. Multivariate analysis confirmed the prognostic significance of the LASSO Score (p = 1.13e-06). CONCLUSIONS This study reveals the biological mechanisms underlying hepatic metastases in colorectal cancer and will help in developing targeted therapies for colorectal cancer.

Abstract
The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover is equipped with a next-generation engineering camera imaging system that represents an upgrade over previous Mars rover missions. These upgrades will improve the operational capabilities of the rover with an emphasis on drive planning, robotic arm operation, instrument operations, sample caching activities, and documentation of key events during entry, descent, and landing (EDL). There are a total of 16 cameras in the Perseverance engineering imaging system, including 9 cameras for surface operations and 7 cameras for EDL documentation. There are 3 types of cameras designed for surface operations: Navigation cameras (Navcams, quantity 2), Hazard Avoidance Cameras (Hazcams, quantity 6), and Cachecam (quantity 1). The Navcams will acquire color stereo images of the surface with a 96 ∘ × 73 ∘ field of view at 0.33 mrad/pixel. The Hazcams will acquire color stereo images of the surface with a 136 ∘ × 102 ∘ at 0.46 mrad/pixel. The Cachecam, a new camera type, will acquire images of Martian material inside the sample tubes during caching operations at a spatial scale of 12.5 microns/pixel. There are 5 types of EDL documentation cameras: The Parachute Uplook Cameras (PUCs, quantity 3), the Descent stage Downlook Camera (DDC, quantity 1), the Rover Uplook Camera (RUC, quantity 1), the Rover Descent Camera (RDC, quantity 1), and the Lander Vision System (LVS) Camera (LCAM, quantity 1). The PUCs are mounted on the parachute support structure and will acquire video of the parachute deployment event as part of a system to characterize parachute performance. The DDC is attached to the descent stage and pointed downward, it will characterize vehicle dynamics by capturing video of the rover as it descends from the skycrane. The rover-mounted RUC, attached to the rover and looking upward, will capture similar video of the skycrane from the vantage point of the rover and will also acquire video of the descent stage flyaway event. The RDC, attached to the rover and looking downward, will document plume dynamics by imaging the Martian surface before, during, and after rover touchdown. The LCAM, mounted to the bottom of the rover chassis and pointed downward, will acquire 90 ∘ × 90 ∘ FOV images during the parachute descent phase of EDL as input to an onboard map localization by the Lander Vision System (LVS). The rover also carries a microphone, mounted externally on the rover chassis, to capture acoustic signatures during and after EDL. The Perseverance rover launched from Earth on July 30th, 2020, and touchdown on Mars is scheduled for February 18th, 2021.
