Abstract
Adverse event (AE) management is important to improve anti-cancer treatment outcomes, but it is known that some AE signals can be missed during clinical visits. In particular, AEs that affect patients' activities of daily living (ADL) need careful monitoring as they may require immediate medical intervention. This study aimed to build deep-learning (DL) models for extracting signals of AEs limiting ADL from patients' narratives. The data source was blog posts written in Japanese by breast cancer patients. After pre-processing and annotation for AE signals, three DL models (BERT, ELECTRA, and T5) were trained and tested in three different approaches for AE signal identification. The performances of the trained models were evaluated in terms of precision, recall, and F1 scores. From 2,272 blog posts, 191 and 702 articles were identified as describing AEs limiting ADL or not limiting ADL, respectively. Among tested DL modes and approaches, T5 showed the best F1 scores to identify articles with AE limiting ADL or all AE: 0.557 and 0.811, respectively. The most frequent AE signals were "pain or numbness", "fatigue" and "nausea". Our results suggest that this AE monitoring scheme focusing on patients' ADL has potential to reinforce current AE management provided by medical staff.

Abstract
AIM This study systematically compared the efficacy of various dressings that may prevent facial medical device-related pressure injury (MRDPI) in medical staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. BACKGROUND During the COVID-19 pandemic, medical staff who are required to wear masks, goggles and other personal protective equipment (PPE) are susceptible to facial MRDPI, which exacerbates working conditions. Dressings can effectively prevent or alleviate MRDPI, but it is unclear which dressings are most effective. DESIGN A systematic review and network meta-analysis, in accordance with PRISMA. METHODS A comprehensive literature search was conducted in four English and four Chinese databases to identify relevant studies published up to 8 September 2022. The selected studies were randomised controlled trials, with populations comprising medical staff who wore PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic and included an observation and control group. RESULTS The network meta-analysis of the 12 selected articles showed that foam dressing, hydrocolloid dressing and petrolatum gauze were better than conventional protection for preventing MRDPI. The surface under the cumulative ranking curve indicated that foam dressing was the best preventative. CONCLUSION Foam dressing is more effective than other dressings in preventing facial MRDPI in medical staff. When PPE must be worn for many hours, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, medical staff can use foam dressings to prevent MRDPI. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE The results support the use of dressings, especially foam dressings, to prevent MRDPI in healthcare workers. The appropriate dressings are recommended to prevent MRDPI associated with wearing PPE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS While most cancer patients with end-of-life (EOL) care receive antibiotic treatments, antibiotic use should be decided appropriately considering the benefits, side effects, resistance, and cost effects. Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASP) are important for patients with EOL care, but there is limited study analyzing actual antibiotic use in EOL care and the perceptions of Korean medical staff. METHODS Electronic medical records of 149 deceased cancer patients hospitalized in the medical hospitalist units at Asan Medical Center in Seoul from May 2019 to September 2021 were reviewed. Basic information, antibiotic use, duration, and changes were investigated. We surveyed medical staff's perceptions of antibiotics in cancer patients with EOL. RESULTS Of the 149 cancer patients with EOL care, 146 (98.0%) agreed with physician orders for life-sustaining treatment (POLST). In total, 143 (95.9%) received antibiotics, 110 (76.9%) received combination antibiotic treatment, and 116 (81.1%) were given antibiotics until the day of death. In a survey of 60 medical staff, 42 (70.0%) did not know about ASP, and 24 (40.0%) thought ASP was important in EOL care. Nineteen doctors (31.7%) discussed the use or discontinuation of antibiotics with patients or caregivers when writing POLST, but only 8 patients (5.6%) stopped antibiotics after POLST. CONCLUSION Most cancer patients with EOL care continue to receive antibiotics until just before their death. A careful approach is needed, considering the benefits and side effects of antibiotic use, and the patient's right to self-decision. It is necessary to actively improve awareness of ASP and its importance for medical staff.

Abstract
Background Since 8 January 2023 China has liberalized its control of COVID-19. In a short period of time, the infection rate of COVID-19 in China has risen rapidly, which has brought a heavy burden to medical staff. This study aimed to investigate the psychological status, stress, insomnia, effort-reward imbalance, resilience, and influencing factors of medical staff in China during the period of epidemic policy liberalization. Methods This survey was conducted from 6 February to 27 March 2023 with non-random sampling. An online questionnaire survey was conducted using HADS, PSS-14, ISI, ERI, and the resilience assessment scale for medical staff. The levels of psychological, stress, insomnia, effort-reward imbalance, and resilience of medical staff during the pandemic policy opening period were measured. Results A total of 2,038 valid questionnaires were collected. 68.5% and 53.9% of medical staff had different degrees of anxiety and depression, respectively. Excessive stress, insomnia, and high effort and low reward were 40.2%, 43.2%, and 14.2%, respectively. Gender, Profession, education level, and age are important factors that lead to anxiety and depression. Women, nurses, higher education, longer working years and hours, high effort, and low reward are risk factors for the above conditions. There was a certain correlation among the five scales, among which anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, effort-reward imbalance, and other factors were positively correlated, while resilience was negatively correlated with these factors. Conclusion This study found that anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, and other psychological problems of medical staff in China during the policy opening period of COVID-19 were more serious than before. At the individual and organizational levels, it is necessary to improve the well-being of medical staff, optimize the allocation of human resources, and promote the mental health of medical staff with a focus on prevention and mitigation, with the entry point of improving resilience and preventing the effort-reward imbalance.

Abstract
An online questionnaire, including the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), was used to assess the psychological status of medical staff in Wuhan during the COVID-19 epidemic. Lasso-Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the risk factors of abnormal psychological status (anxiety or depression). 36.6% of the study subjects experienced anxiety, and 41.5% experienced depression. Female (OR [odds ratio] = 7.22, 95% CI [confidence interval]: 0.58-89.33), basic diseases (OR = 17.95, 95% CI: 1.59-202.49), suspected exposure history (OR = 9.63, 95% CI: 1.40-66.29), smoking (OR = 6.07, 95% CI: 0.38-96.78) were risk factors for anxiety. Female (OR = 5.00, 95% CI: 0.45-55.91), basic diseases (OR = 37.19, 95% CI: 2.70-512.73), suspected exposure history (OR = 5.10, 95% CI: 0.78-33.10), drinking wine (OR = 6.27, 95% CI: 0.38-103.85) were risk factors for depression. The results of the re-sampling evaluation after 2 years showed that some medical staff still showed anxiety (42.4%) and depression (27.3%), and the proportion of females was higher. Early intervention should be carried out, and short-term and long-term intervention plans should be formulated.

Abstract
Objective To understand abnormal thyroid function and its associated factors among medical staff in radiotherapy departments. Methods Data related to medical staff in radiotherapy departments who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were analyzed from September to December 2022 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, including basic personal and lifestyle habits, work information, and scores on the Depression Self-Assessment Scale, Perception Stress Scale, and the Generalized Anxiety Scale. Data analysis was performed using the χ2 test and binary logistic regression. Results Among 484 medical staff in the radiotherapy department, 147 (30.4%) had abnormal thyroid function. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that age, years of work, smoking, occupational exposure, smoking, late-night snacking habits, depression, and stress perception were factors associated with abnormal thyroid function among medical staff in radiotherapy departments; on the other hand, physical exercise was a protective factor. Conclusion The positive rate of thyroid dysfunction among medical personnel in the radiology department is relatively high. It is necessary to strengthen health education and awareness among relevant practitioners and improve the coverage of occupational disease prevention and control education.

Abstract
The Royal College of Anaesthetists Military Anaesthesia higher training module was approved in 2008. The opportunities for trainee deployments to operational environments are limited, and while the need to ensure training and demonstrate the unique military skill set remains, these may not be consistently attainable within NHS posts. This paper proposes a template for the successful integration of military training with a charity mission by describing experiences in Addis Ababa over the two weeks of Project Harar's 2020 Complex Surgery Mission. This model not only benefits patients and military trainees by providing opportunities to gain the skills and attributes required by the Armed Services Consultant Appointment Board, but also by projecting the Defence Medical Services on the global stage.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Health workers exposed to ionizing radiation account for + 50% of workers exposed to man-made radiation in France. Over the last decade, the use of radiation in medicine has increased due to the introduction of new practices. The EXposition des Professionnels de santE aux RayonnemenTs ioniSants study aims to evaluate and characterize the trends in radiation exposure of health workers in France between 2009 and 2019. METHODS This retrospective study includes all health workers with at least one dosimetric record in the system for occupational dosimetry registration (Système d'information de la surveillance de l'exposition aux rayonnements ionisants) database for each of the years 2009, 2014, and 2019, in the hospitals included in the study. Individual external doses and socio-professional data were collected. Statistical analyses include descriptions, graphs, and logistic regressions. RESULTS A total of 1457 workers were included (mean age: 39.8 years, 59% women). The average exposure significantly decreased between 2009 and 2019 (-0.008 mSv/year, p < 0.05). There were large discrepancies in trends according to professions, departments, hospitals, and gender. Over the 10-year study period, radiologic technologists and physicians were the most exposed (0.15 mSv (95%CI 0.14-0.16) and 0.13 mSv (0.06-0.21), respectively), but their exposure tended to decrease. Workers in nuclear medicine departments had the highest radiation exposure (0.36 mSv (0.33-0.39)), which remained stable over time. Thirty-eight percent of recorded doses were nonzero in 2009, decreasing to 20% in 2019. CONCLUSIONS This study allowed to identify physicians and radiologic technologists in nuclear medicine departments as the most exposed medical workers in France, and to show an overall decrease trend in radiation exposure. This should be instructive for radiation monitoring and safety of exposed medical workers. KEY POINTS • Radiation exposure of healthcare workers in most medical departments has steadily decreased between 2009 and 2019 in several French hospitals. • The number of zero doses consistently increased during the study period. • Workers in nuclear medicine departments are the most exposed, especially radiologic technologists and physicians.

Abstract
The study was conducted to assess medical staffs' fear of receiving the fourth dose of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. From December 17, 2022, to January 31, 2023, an online survey was conducted to assess the fear among medical staffs regarding the administration of the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The participants were exclusively drawn from a tertiary grade hospital in Taizhou. Out of the 1, 832 medical staffs invited to participate in the questionnaire, a total of 613 (33.5%) provided valid responses for subsequent analysis. Among them, 81 (13.8%) expressed fear of receiving the fourth dose of COVID-19. The fear was significantly influenced by these factors: the presence of serious food/drug allergic reactions (OR = 3.84, 95% CI: 1.40-10.52), received booster COVID-19 vaccine (OR = 0.20, 95% CI: 0.11-0.35), opinion on vaccination requirement (OR = 0.20, 95% CI: 0.11-0.35), viewpoint (OR = 0.23, 95% CI: 0.12-0.44) with scores ≥10, and positive attitude toward vaccination (OR = 0.21, 95% CI: 0.13-0.35). Our study revealed that a subset of medical staffs still harbor apprehension toward receiving the fourth dose of the new COVID-19 vaccine. Factors influencing this fear encompass allergic reactions, booster COVID-19 vaccine, as well as opinion, viewpoint, and attitude toward vaccination. Educating medical staffs on these factors may help mitigate their fear.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the study is to explore the health-seeking behaviors of athletes with limb deficiency, drawing on the experiences and perception of the sports medicine team and athletes. DESIGN The study used an interpretive hermeneutic phenomenological methodology with a subtle realist paradigmatic view to investigate commonality in unique experiences within reality. Data collection was completed with two focus groups in December 2019 and March 2020. Thirteen participants took part including athletes and sports medicine team members (physiotherapists, doctors, and strength and conditioning coaches) working in parasports. Focus group manuscripts were transcribed verbatim from audio recordings. An inductive, iterative process was used to identify themes and subthemes, with processes in place to establish rigor. RESULTS Two themes and five subthemes emerged in relation to the "internalization and adjustment to social identity" and "the importance and impact of factors, which impact the athlete social identity." CONCLUSIONS Health-seeking behaviors of athletes with limb deficiency were influenced by a unique blend of personal and environmental factors that contribute toward social identity. The sports medicine team require specific awareness of factors that may diminish health-seeking behaviors to deliver a personalized approach and negate consequences.

Abstract
Objective This cross-sectional survey aimed to investigate the prevalence of depression among medical staff and its risk factors as well as the association between depression, anxiety, headache, and sleep disorders. Methods Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select medical staff from various departments of four hospitals in Sanya City. The Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to quantitatively assess depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. Correlation and regression analyses were performed to determine factors affecting the depression occurrence and scores. Results Among 645 medical staff members, 548 (85%) responded. The 1-year prevalence of depression was 42.7% and the prevalence of depression combined with anxiety, headache, and sleep disorders was 23, 27, and 34.5%, respectively. The prevalence of depression in women, nurses, the unmarried or single group, and the rotating-shift population was significantly higher than that in men (48.3% vs. 27.1%, odds ratio OR = 2.512), doctors (55.2% vs. 26.7%, OR = 3.388), the married group (50.5% vs. 35.8%, OR = 1.900), and the day-shift population (35.2% vs. 7.5%, OR = 1.719). The occurrence of depression was correlated with anxiety, sleep disorders, headache, and migraines, with anxiety having the highest correlation (Spearman's Rho = 0.531). The SDS was significantly correlated with the SAS and PSQI (Spearman's Rho = 0.801, 0.503) and was also related to the presence of headache and migraine (Spearman Rho = 0.228, 0.159). Multiple logistic regression indicated that nurse occupation and anxiety were risk factors for depression, while grades of anxiety, sleep disorders and nurse occupation were risk factors for the degree of depression in multiple linear regression. Conclusion The prevalence of depression among medical staff was higher than that in the general population, especially among women, nurses, unmarried people, and rotating-shift workers. Depression is associated with anxiety, sleep disorders, headache, and migraines. Anxiety and nursing occupation are risk factors for depression. This study provides a reference for the promotion of occupational health among medical professionals.

Abstract
The mental and physical well-being of healthcare workers is being affected by global COVID-19. The pandemic has impacted the mental health of medical staff in numerous ways. However, most studies have examined sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic problems in healthcare workers during and after the outbreak. The study's objective is to evaluate COVID-19's psychological effects on healthcare professionals of Saudi Arabia. Healthcare professionals from tertiary teaching hospitals were invited to participate in the survey. Almost 610 people participated in the survey, of whom 74.3% were female, and 25.7% were male. The survey included the ratio of Saudi and non-Saudi participants. The study has utilized multiple machine learning algorithms and techniques such as Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), K Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Gradient Boosting (GB), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM). The machine learning models offer 99% accuracy for the credentials added to the dataset. The dataset covers several aspects of medical workers, such as profession, working area, years of experience, nationalities, and sleeping patterns. The study concluded that most of the participants who belonged to the medical department faced varying degrees of anxiety and depression. The results reveal considerable rates of anxiety and depression in Saudi frontline workers.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine how a novel intervention known as TIMS, "This is My Story," impacted clinicians caring for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. An eight-question survey was administered to MICU staff on their experience with TIMS files for pre- and post-listening reflections. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 17 staff members who prospectively agreed to participate. A total of 97 pre-listening and 88 post-listening questionnaires were completed. Responses indicated that the audio recording was appropriate to discover more about the patient beyond the immediately observable and useful (98%), "considerably" increased staff empathy for the patient (74%), and thought it would "some" or "considerably" improve subsequent interactions with the patient's loved ones (99%). The qualitative analysis revealed that medical staff found the audio format easy to use and helpful in humanizing patients in their clinical practice. The study demonstrates that TIMS audio files are an important addition to the electronic medical record, enabling clinicians to practice with greater awareness of the patient's context and increased empathy for patients and families.

Abstract
Medical staff sometimes assists patients in the examination room during computed tomography (CT) scans for several purposes. This study aimed to investigate the dose reduction effects of four radioprotective glasses with different lead equivalents and lens shapes. A medical staff phantom was positioned assuming body movement restraint of the patient during chest CT, and Hp(3) at the eye surfaces of the medical staff phantom and inside the lens of the four types of radioprotective glasses were measured by changing the distance of the staff phantom from the gantry, eye height, and width of the nose pad. The Hp(3) at the right eye surface with glasses of 0.50-0.75 mmPb and 0.07 mmPb was approximately 83.5% and 58.0%, respectively, lower than that without radioprotective glasses. The dose reduction rates at left eye surface increased with over-glass type glasses by 14%-28% by increasing the distance from the CT gantry to the staff phantom from 25 to 65 cm. The dose reduction rates at the left eye surface decreased with over-glass type glasses by 26%-31% by increasing the height of the eye lens for the medical staff phantom from 130 to 170 cm. The Hp(3) on the left eye surface decreased by 46.9% with the widest nose pad width compared to the narrowest nose pad width for the glasses with adjustable nose pad width. The radioprotective glasses for staff assisting patients during CT examinations should have a high lead equivalent and no gap around the nose and under the front lens.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Acute severe behavioural disturbance (ASBD) is a condition seen with increasing frequency in EDs. It poses a significant risk to the patient and those around them. Little is known about the epidemiology or most effective management in the paediatric population. The aim of the present study is to clarify the practice of senior emergency doctors in Australia when managing paediatric ASBD. METHODS The present study was a voluntary electronic questionnaire distributed to and undertaken by senior medical staff in EDs affiliated with the Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative (PREDICT) network. Respondents reported on exposure to and confidence in managing paediatric ASBD and their current practices. RESULTS A total of 227 (33%) clinicians completed the survey between February and May 2020. Most clinicians were caring for at least two young people with ASBD each week (72%), felt confident regarding the majority of components of management and referred to local clinical practice guidelines (69%). Agitation/sedation rating scales were seldom used (19%). There was a significant variation in self-reported management practices. The choice of whether to use medication at all, the medication chosen and route of administration all varied greatly. Respondents were more willing to provide parenteral medication to young people reported as having recreational drug intoxication (84%) than those with neurodevelopment disorders (65%) when the same degree of agitation was reported. CONCLUSIONS Within Australia, there is considerable variation in paediatric ASBD practice, in particular regarding medication provision. Further prospective research is required to inform best clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although the relationship between burnout and depression is well-known and frequently studied, the specific mechanisms by which burnout develops into depression have not been fully established. Based on theoretical and empirical research on resilience and self-esteem, this study constructs a chain mediating model to test whether they play a mediating role in burnout and depression among medical staff. METHODS A cross-sectional study with a sample consisting of 602 medical staff was carried out by convenient sampling method. They all completed a self-report questionnaire with demographic information, burnout, resilience, self-esteem and depression. SPSS26 and Mplus8.3 were used to analyze the data. RESULTS Burnout was found to positively predict depression of medical staff and negatively predict resilience and self-esteem. Resilience was a mediator between burnout and depression. Self-esteem was also a mediator between them. Meanwhile, resilience and self-esteem had a chain mediating effect on burnout and depression. LIMITATIONS The cross-sectional study does not permit causal inferences. And the data used is self-reported. CONCLUSIONS Burnout takes a toll on resilience and self-esteem, which can eventually lead to depression. These findings contribute to the understanding of the predictive effects of burnout on mental health and provide practical implications for the prevention and intervention of mental health among medical staff.

Abstract
BackgroundTo investigate the depression, anxiety and somnipathy situation occurred in the nucleic acid collection staff during the closed-loop management period of COVID-19. And try to understand the influencing factors of related psychological status.MethodsA cross-sectional study of 1,014 nucleic acid collection staff from seven Chinese hospitals was conducted. Various investigation methods were involved in the questionnaires to collect data, including 12-items self-made questionnaire survey of basic demographic information, 9-items patient health questionnaire depression scale (PHQ-9), 7-items generalized anxiety disorder scale (GAD-7) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 26.0 and Excel software. Mann-Whitney U-test, Chi-square test, correlation analysis, mono-factor analysis and binary logistic regression were applied accordingly for further analysis.ResultsThe positive rate of depression, anxiety and sleep disorder of 1,014 nucleic acid collectors under closed-loop management were 33.5, 27.2, and 50.1%, respectively. Depression was significantly positively correlated with anxiety and sleep (P < 0.05). The scores of depression scale were positively correlated with the age and the fear for infection (r = 0.106, 0.218, both P < 0.05); The scores of anxiety scale were also positively correlated with the age and the fear for infection (r = 0.124, 0.225, both P < 0.05); The length of service, collection time and the degree of worry about infection and was positively correlated with the score of sleep scale (r = 0.077, 0.074, 0.195, both P < 0.05); Education level had a significant negative association with PHQ-9, GAD-7 and PSQI (r = −0.167,−0.172, both P < 0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that age, technical title, education level, collection time, collection frequency, collection location, fear for infection and external environment were important influencing factors of depression, anxiety and sleep disorders.ConclusionThe results of this study suggested that when carrying out nucleic acid collection mission, managers should intervene to optimize the collection location, control the duration of each collection mission, replace the collection staff in time and pay close attention to the psychological state of the collection staff.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aerosol-generating procedures such as oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) result in infectious particles being exhaled by patients. This substantially increases the medical staff's risk of occupational exposure to pathogenic particles via airway inhalation and facial mucosal deposition. Infectious particles are regarded as a key route of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and, thus, represents a major risk factor for medical staff during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. There is a need for quantitative evidence on medical staff's risk of multiroute exposure to infectious particles exhaled by patients during OGD to enable the development of practical, feasible and economical methods of risk-reduction for use in OGD and related procedures. This randomised controlled trial (RCT)-Personal protective EquiPment intervention TrIal for oesophagogastroDuodEnoscopy (PEPTIDE)-aims to establish a state-of-the-art protocol for quantifying the multiroute exposure of medical staff to infectious particles exhaled by patients during real OGD procedures. METHOD AND ANALYSIS PEPTIDE will be a prospective, two-arm, RCT using quantitative methods and will be conducted at a tertiary hospital in China. It will enrol 130 participants (65 per group) aged over 18. The intervention will be an anthropomorphic model with realistic respiratory-related morphology and respiratory function that simulates a medical staff member. This model will be used either without or with a surgical mask, depending on the group allocation of a participant, and will be placed beside the participants as they undergo an OGD procedure. The primary outcome will be the anthropomorphic model's airway dosage of the participants' exhaled infectious particles with or without a surgical mask, and the secondary outcome will be the anthropomorphic model's non-surgical mask-covered facial mucosa dosage of the participants' exhaled infectious particles. Analyses will be performed in accordance with the type of data collected (categorical or quantitative data) using SPSS (V.26.0) and RStudio (V.1.3.959). ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval for this RCT was obtained from the Ethics Committee of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (ZS-3377). All of the potential participants who agree to participate will provide their written informed consent before they are enrolled. The results will be disseminated through presentations at national and international conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT05321056.

Abstract
Intensive Care Units (ICUs) require a multidisciplinary team that consists of, but is not limited to, intensivists (clinicians who specialize in critical illness care), pharmacists and nurses, respiratory care therapists, and other medical consultants from a broad range of specialties. The complex and demanding critical care environment provides few opportunities for patients and personal and professional caregivers to evaluate how sound effects them. A growing body of literature attests to noise's adverse influence on patients' sleep, and high sound levels are a source of staff stress, as noise is an ubiquitous and noxious stimuli. Vulnerable patients have a low threshold tolerance to audio-induced stress. Despite these indications, peak sound levels often register as high, as can ventilators, and the documented noise levels in hospitals continue to rise. This baseline study, carried out in two hospitals' Surgical and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, measured the effects of live music on the perception of noise through surveying patients, personal caregivers and staff in randomized conditions of no music, and music as provided by music therapists through our hospital system's environmental music therapy program.

Abstract
Healthcare workforce (HWF) shortages are the biggest challenges today in healthcare systems. Therefore, it is crucial to forecast the future needs of HWFs in order to plan accordingly. The purpose of this study was to identify, map, and synthesize the tools, methods, and procedures for measuring medical staff deficits in Europe. We used the Arksey and O'Malley scoping review methodology. Based on predefined criteria, 38 publications that were retrieved from multiple scientific databases, hand-searched on the internet, from relevant organizations, and scanned from references were considered. They were published between 2002 and 2022. There were 25 empirical studies, 6 theoretical papers, 5 reports, 1 literature review, and 1 guidebook. The majority estimated or measured shortages of physicians (14/38) and nurses (7/38) or looked at HWF generally (10/38). Various methods were used, including projections, estimations, predictions, simulation models, and surveys, which used tools such as special computer software or customized indicators, i.e., the Workload Indicators of Staffing Need method. Researchers estimated HWF shortages at both national and regional levels. Such projections and estimations were often based on demand, supply, and/or need. These methods and tools are not always suited to the needs of a country or medical facility, which is why they need to be further developed and tested.

Abstract
Background Workplace violence (WPV) against medical staff has been an important public health and societal problem worldwide. Although numerous studies have implied the differences between physical violence (PV) and verbal violence (VV) against medical staff, few studies were conducted to analyze the different associations between work-related variables, PV, and VV, especially in China. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among Chinese medical staff in public hospitals, and 3,426 medical staff were interviewed and analyzed. WPV, including PV and VV, were evaluated by the self-report of the medical staff. Work-related variables, physical disease, depression, and social-demographic variables were also measured. The work-related variables included types of medical staff, professional titles, hospital levels, managers, working years, job changing, working hours/week, night duty times/week, monthly income, self-reported working environment, and social position. Logistic regressions were conducted to examine the factors associated with PV and VV. Results A total of 489 medical staff (23.0%) reported the experience of PV and 1,744 (50.9%) reported the experience of VV. Several work-related variables were associated with PV and VV, including nurse (OR = 0.56 for PV, p < 0.01; OR = 0.76 for VV, p < 0.05), manager (OR = 1.86 for PV, p < 0.01; OR = 1.56 for VV, p < 0.001), night duty frequency/week (OR = 1.06 for PV, p < 0.01; OR = 1.03 for VV, p < 0.01), bad working environment (OR = 2.73 for PV, p < 0.001; OR = 3.52 for VV, p < 0.001), averaged working environment (OR = 1.51 for PV, p < 0.05; OR = 1.55 for VV, p < 0.001), and bad social position (OR = 4.21 for PV, p < 0.001; OR = 3.32 for VV, p < 0.001). Working years (OR = 1.02, p < 0.05), job changing (OR = 1.33, p < 0.05), and L2 income level (OR = 1.33, p < 0.01) were positively associated with VV, but the associations were not supported for PV (all p>0.05). The other associated factors were male gender (OR = 1.97 for PV, p < 0.001; OR = 1.28 for VV, p < 0.05) and depression (OR = 1.05 for PV, p < 0.001; OR = 1.04 for VV, p < 0.001). Conclusion Both PV and VV were positively associated with work-related variables, such as doctor, manager, more night duty frequency, perceived bad working environment, or social position. Some variables were only associated with VV, such as working years, job changing, and monthly income. Some special strategies for the work-related variables should be applied for controlling PV and VV.

Abstract
Background During the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Chinese Government adopted a centralized isolation treatment (CIT) strategy for patients, which has greatly improved the efficiency of the pandemic response. However, compared to those in local hospitals, anti-COVID-19 medical staff in mobile cabin hospitals, where the CIT strategy was adopted, suffered more mental health problems. This study aimed to explore how the CIT strategy affected the medical staff's mental health by comparing anti-COVID-19 medical staff who worked in mobile cabin hospitals to those in fever clinics of local hospitals. Methods Following the standard scale development procedure, this study first developed a scale measuring the mental health of anti-COVID-19 medical staff. Using SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0 software, the exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and reliability analysis method were conducted to support the scale development. In the main investigation, a survey method using the developed scale was used, and 839 anti-COVID-19 medical staff from five hospitals in northern China were recruited as participants by snowball-sampling method. The first survey was conducted in February 2020, when the first round of COVID-19 was at a serious time. In April 2020, after the first round of COVID-19 in China was initially contained, and medical staff who worked in mobile cabin hospitals returned to local hospitals, a follow-up survey was conducted on these participants. Using SPSS 23.0 software, a series of 2 × 2 mixed-design ANOVA was conducted, in which working conditions (mobile cabin hospital vs. local hospital) served as a between-subject factor, time points (during vs. after the first round of COVID-19) served as a within-subject variable, and the indicators of the medical staff's mental health served as dependent variables respectively. Results The reliability and validity of the developed scale were desirable. The mental health problems of anti-COVID-19 medical staff were mainly manifested as anxiety, powerlessness, fear of infection, and somatization. Compared to those who worked in local hospitals, anti-COVID-19 medical staff who worked in mobile cabin hospitals where the CIT strategy was adopted suffered more powerlessness, fear of infection, and somatization. After returning to local hospitals, symptoms of fear of infection and powerlessness of medical staff who used to work in mobile cabin hospitals decreased significantly. However, their anxiety symptoms were not relieved, and their somatization symptoms even increased. Conclusion This study implied that the mental health of anti-COVID-19 medical staff in mobile cabin hospitals adopting CIT was worse than in local hospitals. Moreover, with the first outbreak in remission, the mental health recovery of medical staff in CIT hospitals was slower than in local hospitals. Relevant practitioners should pay more attention to the mental health condition of anti-COVID-19 medical staff who work in CIT hospitals. The psychological assistance service for them should continue even after they return to the local hospitals.

Abstract
From the perspective of diversity in the medical field, the relationship between physicians and medical staff is one of the important factors. In this study, a survey was conducted on female doctors for 136 medical staff who are deeply involved in gastroenterology. Furthermore, another survey was conducted on 10 female doctors in gastroenterology regarding their relationship with the medical staff and their work-life balance. Consequently, 89% of the medical staff had experienced a situation where they relied on female doctors. Seventy-eight percent felt a necessity for female doctors, and it was observed that the demand for female doctors in gastroenterology would remain high in the future. Conversely, regarding the necessity of female doctors, 22% responded "neither agree nor disagree," and several of them believed that the personal qualities of a doctor were the most significant versus being a female. Moreover, it was noted that the idea of genderless thinking is becoming prevalent in the medical field. In addition, half of the female doctors considered gastroenterology to be a workplace that is easy for female doctors. The most common reason was that it broadens the options for working styles because skills, including gastrointestinal endoscopy and ultrasonography, can be acquired. Ninety percent of female doctors had no experience of trouble with medical staff due to being female. Conversely, 80% responded that they could work smoothly with staff in their interactions with female patients. Since medical treatment is based on gender differences, it is difficult not to be aware of them. Creating an environment wherein female doctors are freed from gender stereotypes and can utilize being female as one of their abilities while responding to the needs of patients and the medical field will be necessary.

Abstract
This article analyses the architecture that was used in the temporary AmberExpo hospital in Gdańsk, Poland which was installed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The construction of this type of facility is often based on experimental approaches, aimed at caring for patients suffering from an infectious disease in emergency conditions. In order to assess the level of employee satisfaction with the architectural and technical elements used in the first period of the hospital's activity, medical staff were asked to fill out a questionnaire. The analysis of the survey's results indicated that the majority of employees expressed satisfaction with the architectural and technical elements, with the design of the spatial layout of the individual medical zones receiving the most positive feedback. However, frequently selected drawbacks in the design included the lack of natural daylight, the artificial light that was used and the acoustics of the facility. This detailed examination of the satisfaction and feedback from medical employees working in this type of emergency facility enables the development of solutions that in the future will allow for the improved adaptive reuse and implementation of such structures, with enhanced time and economic efficiency, and most importantly, the ability to provide a safer workplace.

Abstract
PURPOSE The rapid changes that the healthcare services industry is undergoing pose a challenge to obtaining accurate measurements of the delivery of medical services to patients. Current Chinese measures of patient safety culture may not adequately capture how medical staff perceives the promotion of patient safety. This study aims to construct a valid and applicable patient safety culture instrument by re-estimating the Chinese version of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ) with medical staff in Taiwan. DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted on data collected from a sample of 448 medical workers at a regional teaching hospital in Taiwan, and data from 804 participants at a medical center were subjected to confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The distribution of the questions among the dimensions was different from that in the Chinese version of the SAQ. FINDINGS The authors' results confirm that 3 correlated first-order factors, including 11 items, can be used to measure collaboration and safety, stress recognition and emotional exhaustion (EE). The authors' data suggest that the cooperation mechanism, patient safety promotion, stress management and emotional management are drivers of patient safety and should be prioritized when seeking to evaluate the perceptions of hospital staff toward patient safety culture in hospitals in Taiwan. ORIGINALITY/VALUE To improve the quality and safety of patient care, the measurement scale should be revisited and modified as the industry changes over time and to take account of cultural variation. The authors restructured the current Chinese version of the SAQ developed by the Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT) to offer more precise measures that increase the sensitivity of the measurement of the level of care in items of patient safety and that serve as a diagnostic instrument to review patient safety management.
