Abstract
To enhance the vaccination rate of adolescents against HPV, understanding their current vaccination intentions and identifying the factors that influence their decision to vaccinate are imperative. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) was used to search for relative literature. Five electronic databases (CINAHL, PubMed, Web of science, Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) and Korea Citation Index (KCI)) were searched from 2007 to 2022, and 19 studies were selected for final review. The Mixed Methods Assessment Tool (MMAT) was used as a critical appraisal tool to evaluate the quality for various types of research designs. This integrative review revealed three themes, including facilitators (personal characteristics and environmental factors), barriers (lack of awareness and knowledge about HPV, concerns about side effects, and the burden of costs), and ways to increase vaccination uptake (knowledge promotion and HPV vaccines coverage by public insurance). To encourage HPV vaccine uptake, it is essential to enhance public knowledge, create compelling advertisements, and ensure that the vaccines are covered by public insurance. Moreover, providing educational programs that emphasize the effectiveness and significance of HPV vaccines to adults who can influence the vaccination decisions of adolescents is vital.

Abstract
The lack of specific and accurate therapeutic targets poses a challenge in the treatment of cervical cancer (CC). Global proteomics has the potential to characterize the underlying and intricate molecular mechanisms that drive the identification of therapeutic candidates for CC in an unbiased manner. The present study assessed human papillomavirus (HPV)‑induced proteomic alterations to identify key cancer hallmark pathways and protein‑protein interaction (PPI) networks, which offered the opportunity to evaluate the possibility of using these for targeted therapy in CC. Comparative proteomic profiling of HPV‑transfected (HPV16/18 E7), HPV‑transformed (CaSki and HeLa) and normal human keratinocyte (HaCaT) cells was performed using the liquid chromatography‑tandem mass spectrometry (LC‑MS/MS) technique. Both label‑free quantification and differential expression analysis were performed to assess differentially regulated proteins in HPV‑transformed and ‑transfected cells. The present study demonstrated that protein expression was upregulated in HPV‑transfected cells compared with in HPV‑transformed cells. This was probably due to the ectopic expression of E7 protein in the former cell type, in contrast to its constitutive expression in the latter cell type. Subsequent pathway visualization and network construction demonstrated that the upregulated proteins in HPV16/18 E7‑transfected cells were predominantly associated with a diverse array of cancer hallmarks, including the mTORC1 signaling pathway, MYC targets V1, hypoxia and glycolysis. Among the various proteins present in the cancer hallmark enrichment pathways, phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) was present across all pathways. Therefore, PGK1 may be considered as a potential biomarker. PPI analysis demonstrated a direct interaction between p130 and polyubiquitin B, which may lead to the degradation of p130 via the ubiquitin‑proteasome proteolytic pathway. In summary, elucidation of the key signaling pathways in HPV16/18‑transfected and ‑transformed cells may aid in the design of novel therapeutic strategies for clinical application such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy against cervical cancer.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The epidemiology of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers has changed since the development of the multivalent vaccine. This is evidenced by the decline in incidence of cervical cancers in the post-vaccine era. By contrast, studies have reported the rise in incidence of these cancers in males. Though little is known regarding HPV-associated cancers in males, Hispanic males have been largely excluded from research on these cancers. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in late-stage diagnosis of HPV-associated cancers (oropharyngeal, anorectal, or penile) among subgroups of Hispanic males in the U.S. METHODS We performed a population-based retrospective cohort study using the 2005-2016 North American Association of Central Cancer Registries Cancer in North America Deluxe data file (n = 9242). Multivariable logistic regression modeling was used in studying late-stage diagnosis. RESULTS There were no differences in late-stage diagnosis of oropharyngeal cancer between Hispanic subgroups. Higher odds of late-stage penile cancers were observed among Mexican and Puerto Rican males relative to European Spanish males. Lower odds of late-stage anorectal cancers were observed among Central or South American and Puerto Rican males. Having Medicaid or no insurance were associated with late-stage diagnosis for all cancers. CONCLUSION Certain subgroups of Hispanic males have higher odds of late-stage HPV-associated cancer diagnosis based on country of origin and insurance status. These findings call for improved efforts to increase HPV vaccination, particularly among these subgroups of Hispanic males. Efforts to improve health care access and early detection from health care providers are also needed.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one of the most effective public health measures for preventing HPV-related cancers and other diseases. However, vaccination coverage is not at the desired level, especially among men. In this context, we aimed to determine HPV vaccination rates, barriers, and some related demographic and personal factors among male university students in Turkey. We shared an online questionnaire prepared by the authors in line with the relevant literature on social media platforms and included 1723 male university students in this cross-sectional study. Only 4.9% of the students stated that they were vaccinated against HPV, and the most important obstacle to vaccination was not knowing when to be vaccinated (49.5%). Additionally, marital status, sexual orientation, chronic diseases, family history of cervical cancer, and having heard of HPV were significant predictors of HPV vaccination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is epidemic among young people, especially those at highest risk of acquiring HPV-related cancers. METHODS Youth aged 14-24 years old (N = 1628) were recruited from 13 clinics, community agencies, and social media sites in Los Angeles, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana, that specialized in serving sexual and gender minority youths (SGMY), especially males at risk for HIV. A cross-sectional comparison of sociodemographic and risk histories of HPV vaccinated/unvaccinated youths was conducted using both univariate and multivariate regressions. RESULTS About half (51.9%) of youth were vaccinated, with similar percentages across states and across genders. Sexual and gender minority youths (SGMY, i.e., gay, bisexual, transgender, and non-heterosexual; 68.8%) and their heterosexual peers (15%) were equally likely to be vaccinated (54%), even though their risk for HPV-related cancers is very different. Vaccinations were higher among younger youth, those not using condoms, youth with greater education, that possessed a primary health care provider, and youth diagnosed with HIV. Vaccinations were lower among youth that were out-of-home due to mental health inpatient hospitalization, drug treatment, homelessness, or incarceration. CONCLUSIONS Special programs are required to target youth experiencing multiple life stressors, especially out-of-home experiences, those with less education, and without the safety net of health insurance or a provider.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To increase uptake of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination by implementing a stepwise evidence-based practice model to offer HPV education along with a strong provider recommendation to parents of youth and adolescents. DESIGN Evidence-based practice change model. SETTING A nurse practitioner-run, primary care walk-in clinic in a rural area of the southeastern United States. PARTICIPANTS Parents of youth and adolescents ages 11 to 17 years. INTERVENTIONS/MEASUREMENTS Education targeting parental hesitancy and strong recommendations for immunization was administered by health care providers to parents of youth and adolescents eligible for vaccination. The Parent Attitudes About Childhood Vaccine instrument was used to identify the presence and degree of parental hesitancy. Vaccination uptake was measured and compared to the same time period from the previous year. RESULTS Data collected from the clinic vaccination log during the same 6-week time period in 2018 identified that four youth/adolescents were vaccinated with the HPV vaccine in 2018. During the same 6-week period in 2019 when the practice change was implemented, 38 parents were approached; 24 met eligibility criteria, and all 24 of their youth/adolescents received HPV vaccination. CONCLUSION Implementation of an evidence-based practice model that includes standing vaccine orders and reminders and recalls may provide an effective way to ensure completion of the HPV vaccine series. Every missed clinical opportunity to vaccinate youth and adolescents against HPV can contribute to lower vaccination rates and increased risk for genital warts and cancers associated with HPV infection.

Abstract
Background Despite the high risks associated with human papillomavirus (HPV), the HPV vaccination rate of men is far lower than women. Most previous review studies have focused on female vaccination and related affecting factors. However, previous studies have reported that the factors affecting HPV vaccination differ by gender. Objective The aim of this review was to identify the factors affecting HPV vaccine initiation in men through a systematic review approach. Methods A literature review was conducted across 3 central electronic databases for relevant articles. A total of 30 articles published between 2013 and 2019 met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed in this study. Results In total, 50 factors affecting HPV vaccination in men were identified, including 13 sociodemographic factors and social structure factors, 12 belief-related variables, 4 family factors, 4 community factors, 14 variables related to needs, and 3 environmental factors. Conclusions To increase HPV vaccination rates in men, strategies targeting young males and their families should consider frequent visits to or contact with health care providers so that health care professionals can provide recommendations for HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Background: HPV vaccination of both girls and boys can protect against infection and eliminate the risk for HPV-associated cancer. Due to a common misconception that the virus only poses risks to women, vaccine coverage is suboptimal among men in many countries. It is urgent to identify barriers to vaccination of boys and men. Methods: We conducted a narrative review of publications examining attitudes and beliefs regarding HPV vaccination for boys and young men. The electronic databases searched were PubMed, PsychInfo and Scopus (December 2020; last update July 2021). A total of 103 original articles were included in the final analysis. Results: The central barriers against vaccination of boys and men are: (1) lack of knowledge, (2) vaccine hesitancy in general, (3) lack of recommendation from and/or discussions with healthcare providers, (4) cost and logistics, and (5) the idea that HPV vaccination may promote promiscuity. Men who have sex with men and families belonging to ethnic minorities express a need for information tailored to their situation. Conclusions: Boys should be included in national immunization programs and men should also be offered catch-up vaccinations. Future studies should focus on addressing vaccine hesitancy and developing interventions to promote pan-gender HPV vaccination.

Abstract
In the US, individuals between ages 18 and 26 have the highest incidence of new human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide. HPV infection can cause genital warts, and persistent infection with cancerous strains can develop into multiple types of cancers. In 2011, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that both men and women receive the vaccine. However, young adult men, including college-aged men, have been slow to initiate and complete the vaccine series. Our cross-sectional study, guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior, explores college men's vaccination uptake and series completion behaviors and their intentions to vaccinate. Using logistic regression, we examined how students' attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms impacted their HPV vaccine-related behaviors and intentions. Subjective norms, followed by perceived behavioral control to communicate with a provider about the HPV vaccine, had the largest impact on students' HPV vaccine uptake and completion behaviors and intentions to vaccinate. Both subjective norms and positive attitudes about the vaccine impacted students' intentions to vaccinate against HPV. Based on these findings, we make various recommendations including campus interventions and policies that could increase HPV vaccine uptake and completion behaviors among college men.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To explore the interventions aimed at increasing human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates among adolescents in family practice settings. BACKGROUND HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States, and the cause of thousands of anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers annually. Although HPV infection can be prevented with recommended vaccination during adolescence, national HPV vaccine rates remain low. DESIGN Systematic review. METHODS Four databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library) were searched. The search was guided by PRISMA and by the question, 'What are targeted interventions that improve HPV vaccination rates among adolescents in family practice settings?' Articles were reviewed for study characteristics and appraised for quality using the revised Cochrane risk of bias tools. RESULTS Eleven studies met inclusion and exclusion criteria. Individual study size samples ranged from 749-147,294, with a combined total from all included studies of 276,205; the largest sample reviewed to date from family practice settings. Interventions used to increase HPV vaccination rates included reminder systems; provider and staff education; sensory incentives such as hitting a gong or petting a puppy; and iPad tailored messaging programmes. Studies that employed interventions pre-, during and postvisit were most effective in increasing HPV vaccination rates. CONCLUSIONS This review provides the largest data supporting multimodal strategies to increase HPV vaccination rates among adolescent populations. It provides strong evidence to suggest that vaccination rates can be improved using measures at varying times of the patient visit. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE Adolescents seek health care in various settings. Many studies have examined interventions to increase HPV vaccination in paediatric settings, but few have examined interventions in family practice settings. This review suggests that family practices should implement multimodal measures before, during and after visits to increase HPV vaccination among adolescent patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Low national immunization coverage (44.64%) requires strengthening the vaccination campaign to improve knowledge about HPV and its vaccine among adolescents and parents/guardians. Our aim is to evaluate factors related to knowledge about HPV, its vaccine, acceptability and divergences among Brazilian adolescents and parents/guardians. METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed at a health unit of Sao Paulo University, Brazil, from 2015 to 2016. The convenience sample comprised 1047 individuals, including 74% (n = 776) adolescents and 26% (n = 271) parents/guardians, who answered a survey (knowledge about HPV, its vaccine, barriers and acceptability). RESULTS The main source of information for adolescents was school (39%, n = 298); for parents/guardians, it was health professionals (55%, n = 153). Parents/guardians were 2.48 times more likely than adolescents to know that HPV caused changes in the Pap smear test [RR 2.48, 95% CI 2.03-3.01 (p < 0.001)], 1.43 times likely to be aware that HPV was a sexually transmitted infection [RR 1.43, 95% CI 1.22-1.68 (p < 0.001)], and 2.77 times likely to be informed that the HPV vaccine decreased the chance of having genital warts [RR 2.77, 95% CI 2.22-2.47 (p < 0.001)]. Girls knew more about the topic than boys (RR 1.67; 95% CI 1.10-2.60); education increased parents' knowledge [(RR 3.38; 95% CI 1.71-6.69)]. CONCLUSION Female adolescents and parents/guardians with a higher level of education are factors related to suitable knowledge about HPV and its vaccine among Brazilian respondents. There were differences between parents/guardians and adolescents in HPV awareness, clinical implications, vaccine knowledge and vaccine acceptance.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) potentially affects every sexually active man in the United States and Canada. In 2017, the vaccine became publicly funded in Canada for males ages 9-26, and was integrated into school vaccination programs. In 2019, HPV vaccination was recommended as routine for all U.S.-based males and females ages 9 through 26, and a shared decision for adults >26 years; however, since the approval of the vaccine in 2006 for females only, the age and dosing recommendations for males have followed a complicated and changing trajectory. Current adherence rates are low among college and university age males (18-26 years); therefore, understanding and addressing the barriers and facilitators for men's HPV vaccination is critically important. The purpose of the current scoping review is to provide a synthesis of recent literature pertaining to HPV in college and university age men, as a means to guiding health-care providers (HCPs). Drawing from 15 published articles, three thematic findings were inductively derived. Theme one, lack of awareness, was underpinned by men's knowledge deficits about their eligibility for, and the availability of HPV vaccines. Theme two, underestimating and embodying risk, included men's engagement in sexual activities while misinformed or denying the risk for contracting HPV. The third theme, strategies for increasing men's awareness, summarizes messaging strategies used to lobby young men to vaccinate. The review findings indicate gender-sensitive interventions targeting college-age men, including early, frequent, and consistent messaging on HPV are key.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protects adolescents and young adults from 9 high-risk HPV virus types that cause 90% of cervical and anal cancers and 70% of oropharyngeal cancers. This study extends our previous research analyzing online content concerning the HPV vaccination in social media platforms used by young adults, in which we used Pathfinder network scaling and methods of distributional semantics to characterize differences in knowledge organization reflected in consumer- and expert-generated online content. The current study extends this approach to evaluate HPV vaccine perceptions among young adults who populate Reddit, a major social media platform. We derived Pathfinder networks from estimates of semantic relatedness obtained by learning word embeddings from Reddit posts and compared these to networks derived from human expert estimation of the relationship between key concepts. Results revealed that users of Reddit, predominantly comprising young adults in the vaccine catch up age-group 18 through 26 years of age, perceived the HPV vaccine domain from a virus-framed perspective that could impact their lifestyle choices and that their awareness of the HPV vaccine for cancer prevention is also lacking. Further differences in knowledge structures were elucidated, with implications for future health communication initiatives.

Abstract
Background Most college males are not immunized against the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are at high risk of HPV infection. Most research of correlates of HPV vaccine acceptability in college males has assessed vaccine acceptability as a binary outcome, e.g., vaccinated or not vaccinated, without considering that some students may not even be aware that the HPV vaccine can be given to males. Our objective was to evaluate the psychosocial correlates of HPV acceptability in college males, based on multiple stages of HPV decision-making. Methods We used an online questionnaire to collect data from college men aged 18–26 enrolled at three Canadian universities between September 2013 and April 2014. Vaccine acceptability assessment was informed by the six-stage decision-making Precaution Adoption Process Model (PAPM). We sought information on socio-demographics, health behaviors, HPV vaccine benefits and barriers, worry, susceptibility, severity related to HPV infection and social norms. HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge was measured with validated scales. Psychosocial correlates of HPV vaccine acceptability were assessed with bivariate and multivariate multinomial logistic regression. Actual and perceived HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge scores were calculated. Results The final sample size was 428. Most male college students were unaware that the HPV vaccine could be given to males, unengaged or undecided about getting the HPV vaccine. Significant correlates of higher HPV vaccine acceptability were: increased HPV knowledge, having discussed the HPV vaccine with a healthcare provider, and social norms. Being in an exclusive sexual relationship was significantly associated with lower HPV vaccine acceptability. Students' actual HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge was low and positively correlated to their perception about their HPV knowledge. Conclusions We provided a fine-tuned analysis of psychosocial correlates of HPV vaccine acceptability in college males who are in the early stages of HPV vaccine decision-making. Interventions are needed to increase HPV and HPV vaccine knowledge in college males. Most college males were unaware that the HPV vaccine can be given to males. Significant correlates of HPV vaccine acceptability are provided. Perceived and actual HPV knowledge are positively correlated. The Precaution Adoption Process Model is appropriate for assessing HPV vaccine acceptability.
