Abstract
Although various conductive hydrogels have been developed for sensing, ideal materials for meeting the safety and toughness requirements of food detection are still lacking. This study introduces Ion-SSPB, a conductive hydrogel fabricated from eco-friendly, food-grade materials such as corn starch (CS), sodium alginate (SA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and bentonite (BT). It leverages a green manufacturing approach designed for application in electronic food sensors. The hydrogel is achieved through a double network strategy and salt immersion method, which endows it with tunable mechanical and rheological properties. A key innovation of Ion-SSPB is the incorporation of bentonite, which enhances its performance, including low swelling, freezing resistance, and minimal residual adhesion. The hydrogel with 4% (w/v) BT concentration (Ion-SSPB4%) is an effective medium for detecting impedance changes in mangoes, correlating with their ripening stages. The Ion-SSPB hydrogel represents a significant advancement in the field of electronic food labels, combining environmental sustainability with technical efficacy.

Abstract
Supercapacitor is highly demanded in emerging portable electronics, however, which faces frequent charging and inevitable rapid self-discharging of huge inconvenient. Here, we present a flexible moisture-powered supercapacitor (mp-SC) that capable of spontaneously moisture-enabled self-charging and persistently voltage stabilizing. Based on the synergy effect of moisture-induced ions diffusion of inner polyelectrolyte-based moist-electric generator and charges storage ability of inner graphene electrochemical capacitor, this mp-SC demonstrates the self-charged high areal capacitance of 138.3 mF cm-2 and ~96.6% voltage maintenance for 120 h. In addition, a large-scale flexible device of 72 mp-SC units connected in series achieves a self-charged 60 V voltage in air, efficiently powering various commercial electronics in practical applications. This work will provide insight into the design self-powered and ultra-long term stable supercapacitors and other energy storage devices.

Abstract
Conducting polymer hydrogels with inherent flexibility, ionic conductivity and environment friendliness are promising materials in the fields of energy storage. However, a trade-off between mechanical and electrochemical properties has limited the development of flexible/stretchable conducting polymer hydrogel electrodes, owing to the intrinsic conflict among mechanical and electrical phases. Here, we report a reliable design to enable conducting polymer with both exceptional mechanical and electrical/electrochemical performance through the construction of bi-continuous conducting polymer crosslinked network. The resultant bi-continuous conducting polymer hydrogels (BCPH) demonstrate significantly improved mechanical and electrochemical properties compared to the conventional conducting polymer hydrogel (CPH) electrode. BCPH presents a high specific capacitance of 715 F g-1 at 0.5 A/g, a high mechanical strength (∼1 MPa) and a large stretchability (∼300%). Enabled by such intrinsically deformability and electrochemical properties, we further demonstrate its utility in flexible solid-state supercapacitor (FSSC), which exhibits an outstanding specific capacitance of 760 mF cm-2 at 2 mA cm-2, excellent electrochemical stability with 81% capacitance retention after 5000 charge/discharge cycles, and superior bending cycle stability. This simple and scalable strategy provides a platform for the fabrication of high-performance conducting hydrogel electrodes for various wearable electronic equipment.

Abstract
Theranostic antibacterial wound dressing is highly recommended in practical applications. The conventional methods of integrating diagnostic and therapeutic functions have the disadvantages of complicated preparation, mutual interference, inability to effectively broad spectrum antibacterial property, and easy to induce drug-resistant bacteria. Herein, a pH and light-responsive theranostic antibacterial hydrogel is developed by biopolymers polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyaniline (PANI), and cross-linking with phytic acid (PA), which is widely present in rice bran. The biological polymer-based conductive hydrogel enables timely diagnosis and photothermal sterilization in-situ for wound healing. Because PANI is highly sensitive to pH changes in the bacterial microenvironment, the hydrogel can detect bacterial infections at concentrations as low as 103 CFU/mL. Subsequently, PANI absorbs near-infrared light to achieve on-demand exothermic sterilization (under 808 nm irradiation for 20 min, the killing ratios for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli reached almost 100 %). In addition, the hydrogel can monitor the intensity of joint movement to avoid wound re-tearing sensitively. In vitro cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility experiments and in vivo full-thickness infected wound model indicate that the hydrogel has good biocompatibility, antibacterial ability, and can accelerate the wound healing effectively. This work will promote the development of wearable electronic devices and precision medicine.

Abstract
An electrochemical capacitor configuration extends its operational potential window by leveraging diverse charge storage mechanisms on the positive and negative electrodes. Beyond harnessing capacitive, pseudocapacitive, or Faradaic energy storage mechanisms and enhancing electrochemical performance at high rates, achieving a balance of stored charge across electrodes poses a significant challenge over a wide range of charge-discharge currents or sweep rates. Consequently, fabricating hybrid and asymmetric supercapacitors demands precise electrochemical evaluations of electrode materials and the development of a reliable methodology. This work provides an overview of fundamental aspects related to charge-storage mechanisms and electrochemical methods, aiming to discern the contribution of each process. Subsequently, the electrochemical properties, including the working potential windows, rate capability profiles, and stabilities, of various families of electrode materials are explored. It is then demonstrated, how charge balancing between electrodes falters across a broad range of charge-discharge currents or sweep rates. Finally, a methodology for achieving charge balance in hybrid and asymmetric supercapacitors is proposed, outlining multiple conditions dependent on loaded mass and charge-discharge current. Two step-by-step tutorials and model examples for applying this methodology are also provided. The proposed methodology is anticipated to stimulate continued dialogue among researchers, fostering advancements in achieving stable and high-performance supercapacitor devices.

Abstract
Deep eutectic solvents (DES) have been regarded as green solvents in the biorefinery of lignocellulosic biomass, but long duration time has severely limited efficiency. The microwave-assisted DES pretreatment along with enzymatic hydrolysis and high-pressure homogenization process was proposed to produce lignin-containing cellulose nanofibrils (LCNF) from corncob. Benefiting from microwave-assisted DES pretreatment, the duration time was greatly shortened; meanwhile the effects of different kinds of DES on the resultant LCNF were investigated. The results showed that, the microwave-assisted DES fabricated LCNF (M-LCNF) was successfully obtained, exhibiting good nano size, thermal stability, colloidal stability, and fluorescence. M-LCNF was further introduced into phytic acid (PA) enhanced poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (P(AM-co-AA)) network and constructed composite conductive hydrogels (PLP). The obtained hydrogels exhibited good mechanical strength, UV blocking ability, fluorescence, and conductivity. A simple battery assembled with the resultant PLP as electrolyte had an out voltage of 2.41 V. The composite conductive hydrogel showed good sensing performance towards different stimuli (e.g., stretching and compression) and human motions in real time. It is expected that this research would provide an alternative way for green fabrication of LCNF and potential application of LCNF in flexible sensors.

Abstract
Wearable electronics with flexible, integrated, and self-powered multi-functions are becoming increasingly attractive, but their basic energy storage units are challenged in simultaneously high energy density, self-healing, and real-time sensing capability. To achieve this, a fully flexible and omni-healable all-hydrogel, that is dynamically crosslinked PVA@PANI hydrogel, is rationally designed and constructed via aniline/DMSO-emulsion-templated in situ freezing-polymerization strategy. The PVA@PANI sheet, not only possesses a honeycombed porous conductive mesh configuration with superior flexibility that provides numerous channels for unimpeded ions/electron transport and maximizes the utilization efficiency of pseudocapacitive PANI, but also can conform to complicated body surface, enabling effective detection and discrimination of body movements. As a consequence, the fabricated flexible PVA@PANI sheet electrode demonstrates an unprecedented specific capacitance (936.8 F g-1 ) and the assembled symmetric flexible all-solid-state supercapacitor delivers an extraordinary energy density of 40.98 Wh kg-1 , outperforming the previously highest-reported values of stretchable PVA@PANI hydrogel-based supercapacitors. What is more, such a flexible supercapacitor electrode enables precisely monitoring the full-range human activities in real-time, and fulfilling a quick response and excellent self-recovery. These outstanding flexible sensing and energy storage performances render this emerging PVA@PANI hydrogel highly promising for the next-generation wearable self-powered sensing electronics.

Abstract
Load-bearing biological tissues, such as cartilage and muscles, exhibit several crucial properties, including high elasticity, strength, and recoverability. These characteristics enable these tissues to endure significant mechanical stresses and swiftly recover after deformation, contributing to their exceptional durability and functionality. In contrast, while hydrogels are highly biocompatible and hold promise as synthetic biomaterials, their inherent network structure often limits their ability to simultaneously possess a diverse range of superior mechanical properties. As a result, the applications of hydrogels are significantly constrained. This article delves into the design mechanisms and mechanical properties of various tough hydrogels and investigates their applications in tissue engineering, flexible electronics, and other fields. The objective is to provide insights into the fabrication and application of hydrogels with combined high strength, stretchability, toughness, and fast recovery as well as their future development directions and challenges.

Abstract
Many human tissues exhibit a highly oriented architecture that confers them with distinct mechanical properties, enabling adaptation to diverse and challenging environments. Hydrogels, with their water-rich "soft and wet" structure, have emerged as promising biomimetic materials in tissue engineering for repairing and replacing damaged tissues and organs. Highly oriented hydrogels can especially emulate the structural orientation found in human tissue, exhibiting unique physiological functions and properties absent in traditional homogeneous isotropic hydrogels. The design and preparation of highly oriented hydrogels involve strategies like including hydrogels with highly oriented nanofillers, polymer-chain networks, void channels, and microfabricated structures. Understanding the specific mechanism of action of how these highly oriented hydrogels affect cell behavior and their biological applications for repairing highly oriented tissues such as the cornea, skin, skeletal muscle, tendon, ligament, cartilage, bone, blood vessels, heart, etc., requires further exploration and generalization. Therefore, this review aims to fill that gap by focusing on the design strategy of highly oriented hydrogels and their application in the field of tissue engineering. Furthermore, we provide a detailed discussion on the application of highly oriented hydrogels in various tissues and organs and the mechanisms through which highly oriented structures influence cell behavior.

Abstract
Smart and dynamic electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials possess a remarkable capacity to modify their EMI shielding abilities, rendering them invaluable in various civil and military applications. However, the present response mechanism of switch-type EMI shielding materials is slightly restricted, as it primarily depends on continuous pressure induction, thereby resulting in concerns regarding their durability and reliability. Herein, for the first time, we demonstrate a novel method for achieving solvent-responsive, reversible switching, and robust EMI shielding capabilities using a controlled proton-reservoir ordered gel. The gel contains polyaniline (PANI) and sodium alginate (SA). Initially, SA acts as a proton reservoir for PANI in an aqueous system, enhancing the doping level of PANI and improving its electrical conductivity. Additionally, PANI and SA chains respond to diverse polar solvents, such as water, acetonitrile, ethanol, n-hexane, and air, inducing distinct conformations that affect the degree of PANI conjugation and electron migration along the chains. This process is reversible and non-destructive to the polymer chain, ensuring the effective and uncompromised performance of the EMI shielding switch. We can achieve precise and reversible tuning (on/off) of EMI shielding with different effectiveness levels by manipulating the solvents within the framework. This work opens a new solvent-stimuli avenue for the development of EMI shielding materials with reliable and intelligent on/off switching capabilities.

Abstract
Continuous worldwide demands for more clean energy urge researchers and engineers to seek various energy applications, including electrocatalytic processes. Traditional energy-active materials, when combined with conducting materials and non-active polymeric materials, inadvertently leading to reduced interaction between their active and conducting components. This results in a drop in active catalytic sites, sluggish kinetics, and compromised mass and electronic transport properties. Furthermore, interaction between these materials could increase degradation products, impeding the efficiency of the catalytic process. Gels appears to be promising candidates to solve these challenges due to their larger specific surface area, three-dimensional hierarchical accommodative porous frameworks for active particles, self-catalytic properties, tunable electronic and electrochemical properties, as well as their inherent stability and cost-effectiveness. This review delves into the strategic design of catalytic gel materials, focusing on their potential in advanced energy conversion and storage technologies. Specific attention is given to catalytic gel material design strategies, exploring fundamental catalytic approaches for energy conversion processes such as the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and more. This comprehensive review not only addresses current developments but also outlines future research strategies and challenges in the field. Moreover, it provides guidance on overcoming these challenges, ensuring a holistic understanding of catalytic gel materials and their role in advancing energy conversion and storage technologies.

Abstract
It is highly desirable to fabricate transition bimetallic alloy-embedded porous nanocarbons with a unique nanoarchitecture for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in rechargeable zinc-air batteries. In this work, we introduce a template-assisted in situ alloying synthesis of FeNi alloy nanoparticle-decorated coral-like nanocarbons (FeNi-CNCs) as efficient OER/ORR dual-functional electrocatalysts. The present materials are produced through polycondensation of a covalent triazine framework (CTF), the coordination of Ni and Fe ions, and sequential pyrolytic treatment. Through the pyrolysis process, the nanolamellar FeNi-CTF precursors can be facilely converted into FeNi alloy nanoparticle-decorated nanocarbons. These nanocarbons possess a distinctive three-dimensional (3D) coral-like nanostructure, which is favorable for the transport of oxygen and the diffusion of electrolyte. As a result, FeNi-CNC-800 with the highest efficiency exhibited remarkable electrocatalytic performance and great durability. Additionally, it also can be assembled into rechargeable zinc-air batteries that can be assembled in both liquid and solid forms, offering a superior peak power density, large specific capacity, and outstanding reusability during charging/discharging cycles (e.g., 5160 charging-and-discharging cycles at 10 mA cm-2 for the liquid forms). These traits make it a highly promising option in the burgeoning field of wearable energy conversion.

Abstract
Conductive hydrogels are essential for enabling long-term and reliable signal sensing in wearable electronics due to their tunable flexibility, stimulus responsiveness, and multimodal sensing integration. However, developing durable and dependable integrated hydrogel-based flexible devices has been challenging due to mismatched mechanical properties, limited water retention capability, and reduced flexibility. This work addresses these challenges by employing a tailored physical-chemical dual-crosslinking strategy to fabricate dynamically reversible organo-hydrogels with high performance. The resultant organo-hydrogels exhibit exceptional characteristics, including high stretchability (up to ∼495% strain), remarkable toughness (with tensile and compressive strengths of ∼1350 kPa and ∼9370 kPa, respectively), and outstanding transparency (∼90.3%). Moreover, they demonstrate excellent long-term water retention ability (>2424 h, >97%). Notably, the organo-hydrogel based sensor exhibits heightened sensitivity for monitoring physiological signals and motions. Furthermore, our integrated wireless wearable sensing system efficiently captures and transmits various human physiological signals and motion information in real-time. This research advances the development of customized devices utilizing functional organo-hydrogel materials, making contributions to fulfilling the increasing demand for high-performance wireless wearable sensing.

Abstract
Hydrophobic cryogels with monolithic supermacropores based on poly-trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (pTrim) containing 1-(2-Hydroxyl-5-nonyphenyl)ethanone oxime (LIX84-I) were successfully prepared by a cryo-polymerization technique using organic solvents with freezing points between room temperature and around 0 °C as solvents. The prepared cryogels were characterized in terms of macroscopic shape and porous structure. The cryogels had a monolithic supermacroporous structure and high contents of LIX84-I depending on the added amount of the extractant to the monomer solution. The amount of LIX84-I impregnated in the cryogel had a linear relationship with the added amount of LIX84-I in the monomer solution for cryo-polymerization. Cu(II) in the aqueous solution was immediately adsorbed into the cryogel containing LIX84-I.

Abstract
The synergetic improvement effect of the polyaniline (PANI) hybridization process on the adsorption of rhodamine B dye (RB) by PANI/coal hybrid material (PANI/C) has been evaluated using both traditional equilibrium modeling and advanced isotherm investigations. The composite was prepared by polymerizing polyaniline in the presence of coal fractions with a surface area of 27.7 m2/g. The PANI/C hybrid has an improved capacity to adsorb RB dye (423.5 mg/g) in comparison to coal particles (254.3 mg/g). The maintained increase in the elimination properties of PANI/C has been illustrated using the steric characteristics of active site density (Nm) as well as the total number of adsorbed RB on a single active site (n). However, the incorporation of PANI did not yield any substantial impact on the existing active sites' quantity, but the hybridization processes greatly influenced the selectivity and affinity of each active site, in addition to the aggregation characteristics of the dye as it interacts with the composite's surface. Whereas raw coal can only adsorb three molecules of RB, each active site throughout the PANI/C surface can adsorb approximately eight RB molecules. This is also evidence of RB dye adsorption in a vertical arrangement, which involves multimolecular processes. The Gaussian energy (4.01-5.59 kJ/mol) and adsorption energy (-4.34-4.68 kJ/mol) revealed the controllable impact of physical mechanisms. These mechanisms may include van der Waals forces, dipole-dipole interactions, and hydrogen bonds (<30 kJ/mol). The thermodynamic functions, such as enthalpy, internal energy, and entropy, that have been assessed provide evidence supporting the exothermic and spontaneous nature of the RB uptake processes by PANI/C.

Abstract
Stretchable organohydrogel fibers are attracting considerable interest for next-generation flexible and wearable soft strain sensors due to their excellent stability in harsh environments. However, due to the uniformly distributed ions and reduced number of carriers in the whole material, the sensitivity of organohydrogel fibers under subzero temperature is not desirable, which significantly hinders their practical application. Herein, a newly competitive proton-trapping strategy was designed to obtain anti-freezing organohydrogel fibers for high-performance wearable strain sensors via a simple freezing-thawing process, in which tetraaniline (TANI), serving as the proton trapper, and representing the shortest repeated structural unit of polyaniline (PANI), was physically crosslinked with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) (PTOH). The as-prepared PTOH fiber exhibited an outstanding sensing performance at -40 °C due to the unevenly distributed ion carriers and the highly breakable proton-migration pathways, with a high gauge factor of 24.6 at a strain of 200-300%. Moreover, the existence of hydrogen bonds between the TANI and PVA chains endowed PTOH with a high tensile strength (1.96 MPa) and toughness (8.0 MJ m-3). Accordingly, strain sensors made from PTOH fibers and knitted textiles could monitor human motions rapidly and sensitively, demonstrating their potential as wearable anti-freezing anisotropic strain sensors.

Abstract
Constructing elastic electrodes with high mechanical and electrochemical stability remains a challenge in developing flexible supercapacitors. Instability of elastic composite electrodes stems from detachment of noncovalently associated electroactive components from elastic substrates under cyclic deformations. Herein, a novel all-organic copolymer consisting of polypyrrole grafted from a polyacrylate elastomer is proposed as elastic electrodes for stretchable supercapacitors. The single copolymer is obtained by graft polymerization in the swollen state, characterized by a wrinkled polypyrrole coating covalently attached on an elastic core. The copolymer is intrinsically elastic and maintains structural integrity under bending, twisting, and stretching deformations to ensure stable electrochemical performance. In addition, the grafted polypyrrole aggregates densely under the constraint of the backbone and gives a competitive conductivity of 41.6 S cm-1. A stretchable supercapacitor is constructed using the copolymer as electrodes and an acid hydrogel as an electrolyte, resulting in a specific capacitance of 430 mF cm-2. The supercapacitor delivers a capacitance retention of 100% after 1000 stretching-releasing cycles, exhibiting mechanical and electrochemical reliability under elastic deformations.

Abstract
Materials are more easily damaged during accidents that involve rapid deformation. Here, a design strategy is described for electronic materials comprised of conducting polymers that defies this orthodox property, making their extensibility and toughness dynamically adaptive to deformation rates. This counterintuitive property is achieved through a morphology of interconnected nanoscopic core-shell micelles, where the chemical interactions are stronger within the shells than the cores. As a result, the interlinked shells retain material integrity under strain, while the rate of dissociation of the cores controls the extent of micelle elongation, which is a process that adapts to deformation rates. A prototype based on polyaniline shows a 7.5-fold increase in ultimate elongation and a 163-fold increase in toughness when deformed at increasing rates from 2.5 to 10 000% min-1 . This concept can be generalized to other conducting polymers and highly conductive composites to create "self-protective" soft electronic materials with enhanced durability under dynamic movement or deformation.

Abstract
Quasi-solid-state supercapacitors have wide application prospects in flexible and scalable electronics, which require high capacity, simple form factor, and excellent mechanical robustness. However, it is a challenge to have all these benefits in one material. Addressing this, we report a composite hydrogel with excellent mechanical durability and freezing resistance. The designed composite hydrogel acts both as a load-bearing layer to maintain its structure during deformation and as a permeable binder to stimulate the interfacing between the conductive electrode and the electrolyte to reduce the interface resistance. Flexible supercapacitors are assembled with composite hydrogels and high-performance MnO2/carbon cloth, which has excellent performance and can store energy at different temperatures or bending states. These results show that the tough hydrogel facilitates the improvement of electrical and mechanical stability, showing great potential in wide-temperature wearable devices.

Abstract
Flexible supercapacitors are an important portable energy storage but suffer from low capacitance, inability to stretch, etc. Therefore, flexible supercapacitors must achieve higher capacitance, energy density, and mechanical robustness to expand the applications. Herein, a hydrogel electrode with excellent mechanical strength was created by simulating the collagen fiber network and proteoglycan in cartilage using silk nanofiber (SNF) network and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The Young's modulus and breaking strength of the hydrogel electrode increased by 205 % and 91 % compared with PVA hydrogel owing to the enhanced effect of the bionic structure, respectively, which are 1.22 MPa and 1.3 MPa. The fracture energy and fatigue threshold reached 1813.5 J/m2 and 1585.2 J/m2, respectively. The SNF network effectively connected carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and polypyrrole (PPy) in series, affording a capacitance of 13.62 F/cm2 and energy density of 1.2098 mWh/cm2. This capacitance is the highest among currently reported PVA hydrogel capacitors, which can maintain >95.2 % after 3000 charge-discharge cycles. This capacitance Notably, the cartilage-like structure endowed the supercapacitor with high resilience; thus, the capacitance remained >92.1 % under 150 % deformation and >93.35 % after repeated stretching (3000 times), which was far superior to that of other PVA-based supercapacitors. Overall, this effective bionic strategy can endow supercapacitors with ultrahigh capacitance and effectively ensure the mechanical reliability of flexible supercapacitors, which will help expand the applications of supercapacitors.

Abstract
Slippery and transparent polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels with mechanical robustness exhibit broad applications in artificial biological soft tissues, flexible wearable electronics, and implantable biomedical devices. Most of the current PVA hydrogels, however, are unable to integrate these features, which compromises its performance in biological and engineering applications. To achieve such purpose, herein, a novel tactic is proposed, salting-out-after-syneresis of PVA, to realize a mechanically robust and highly transparent slippery PVA hydrogel. The syneresis of PVA sol is first conducted to form highly dense and transparent PVA polymer networks, then the salting-out effect tunes the aggregation of the polymer chains to rapidly induce the phase separation and crystallization. The resultant hydrogels show the transparency up to 98% in the visible region, the tribological coefficient down to 0.0081, and the excellent mechanical properties with strength, modulus, and toughness of 26.72 ± 1.05, 6.66 ± 0.29 MPa, and 55.21 ± 1.62 MJ m-3 , respectively. To reveal the potentials, PVA contact lens that combine remarkable lubrication, anti-protein adhesion, biocompatibility, and drug-loading functions are demonstrated. This strategy provides a simple and new avenue for developing the mechanically robust, transparent, and hydrated hydrogels, showing the potential in biomedicine and wearable devices.

Abstract
Electronic devices with tactile and pressure-sensing capabilities are becoming increasingly popular in the automatic industry, human motion/health monitoring, and artificial intelligence applications. Inspired by the natural nanotopography of the cicada wing, we propose here a straightforward strategy to fabricate a highly sensitive tactile sensor through nanotexturing of erected polyaniline (PANI) nanoneedles on a conductive and elastic three-dimensional (3D) carbon skeleton. The robust and compressible carbon networks offer a resilient and conducting matrix to catering complex scenarios; the biomimetic PANI nanoneedles firmly and densely anchored on a 3D carbon skeleton provide intimate electrical contact under subtle deformation. As a result, a piezoresistive tactile sensor with ultrahigh sensitivity (33.52 kPa-1), fast response/recovery abilities (97/111 ms), and reproducible sensing performance (2500 cycles) is developed, which is capable of distinguishing motions in a wide pressure range from 4.66 Pa to 60 kPa, detecting spatial pressure distribution, and monitoring various gestures in a wireless manner. These excellent performances demonstrate the great potential of nature-inspired tactile sensors for practical human motion monitoring and artificial intelligence applications.

Abstract
Solution-processable conducting polymers (CPs) are a compelling alternative to inorganic counterparts because of their potential for tuning chemical properties and creating flexible organic electronics. CPs, which typically comprise either only an electron donor (D) or its alternative combinations with an electron acceptor (A), exhibit charge transfer behavior between the units, resulting in an electrical conductivity suitable for utilization in electronic devices and for energy storage applications. However, the energy storage behavior of CPs with a sequence of electron acceptors (A-A), has rarely been investigated, despite their promising lower band gap and higher charge carrier mobility. Utilizing the aforesaid concept herein, four CPs featuring benzodithiophenedione (BDD), and diketopyrrolepyrrole (DPP) are synthesized. Among them, the BDDTH-DPPEH polymer exhibited the highest specific capacitance of 126.5 F g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1 in an organic electrolyte over a wide potential window of -0.6-1.4 V. Notably, the supercapacitor properties of the polymeric electrode materials improved with increasing conjugation length by adding thiophene donor units and shortening the alkyl chain lengths. Furthermore, a symmetric supercapacitor device fabricated using BDDTH-DPPEH exhibited a high-power density of 4000 W kg-1 and an energy density of 31.66 Wh kg-1 .

Abstract
The rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoTs) and proliferation of wearable electronics have significantly stimulated the pursuit of distributed power supply systems that are small and light. Accordingly, micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) have recently attracted tremendous research interest due to their high power density, good energy density, long cycling life, and rapid charge/discharge rate delivered in a limited volume and area. As an emerging class of electrochemical energy storage devices, MSCs using polyaniline (PANI) electrodes are envisaged to bridge the gap between carbonaceous MSCs and micro-batteries, leading to a high power density together with improved energy density. However, despite the intensive development of PANI-based MSCs in the past few decades, a comprehensive review focusing on the chemical properties and synthesis of PANI, working mechanisms, design principles, and electrochemical performances of MSCs is lacking. Thus, herein, we summarize the recent advances in PANI-based MSCs using a wide range of electrode materials. Firstly, the fundamentals of MSCs are outlined including their working principle, device design, fabrication technology, and performance metrics. Then, the working principle and synthesis methods of PANI are discussed. Afterward, MSCs based on various PANI materials including pure PANI, PANI hydrogel, and PANI composites are discussed in detail. Lastly, concluding remarks and perspectives on their future development are presented. This review can present new ideas and give rise to new opportunities for the design of high-performance miniaturized PANI-based MSCs that underpin the sustainable prosperity of the approaching IoTs era.

Abstract
Ionotronic hydrogels have attracted significant attention in emerging fields such as wearable devices, flexible electronics, and energy devices. To date, the design of multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels with strong interfacial adhesion, rapid self-healing, three-dimensional (3D) printing processability, and high conductivity are key requirements for future wearable devices. Herein, we report the rational design and facile synthesis of 3D printable, self-adhesive, self-healing, and conductive ionotronic hydrogels based on the synergistic dual reversible interactions of poly(vinyl alcohol), borax, pectin, and tannic acid. Multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels exhibit strong adhesion to various substrates with different roughness and chemical components, including porcine skin, glass, nitrile gloves, and plastics (normal adhesion strength of 55 kPa on the skin). In addition, the ionotronic hydrogels exhibit intrinsic ionic conductivity imparting strain-sensing properties with a gauge factor of 2.5 up to a wide detection range of approximately 2000%, as well as improved self-healing behavior. Based on these multifunctional properties, we further demonstrate the use of ionotronic hydrogels in the 3D printing process for implementing complex patterns as wearable strain sensors for human motion detection. This study is expected to provide a new avenue for the design of multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels, enabling their potential applications in wearable healthcare devices.

Abstract
Electroconductive hydrogels have been applied in implantable bioelectronics, tissue engineering platforms, soft actuators, and other emerging technologies. However, achieving high conductivity and mechanical robustness remains challenging. Here we report an approach to fabricating electroconductive hydrogels based on the hybrid assembly of polymeric nanofiber networks. In these hydrogels, conducting polymers self-organize into highly connected three dimensional nanostructures with an ultralow threshold (~1 wt%) for electrical percolation, assisted by templating effects from aramid nanofibers, to achieve high electronic conductivity and structural robustness without sacrificing porosity or water content. We show that a hydrogel composed of polypyrrole, aramid nanofibers and polyvinyl alcohol achieves conductivity of ~80 S cm-1, mechanical strength of ~9.4 MPa and stretchability of ~36%. We show that patterned conductive nanofiber hydrogels can be used as electrodes and interconnects with favorable electrochemical impedance and charge injection capacity for electrophysiological applications. In addition, we demonstrate that cardiomyocytes cultured on soft and conductive nanofiber hydrogel substrates exhibit spontaneous and synchronous beating, suggesting opportunities for the development of advanced implantable devices and tissue engineering technologies.

Abstract
Nowadays, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, conductive hydrogel-based sensors play an increasingly vital role in health monitoring and temperature sensing. However, the perfect integration of the environmental stability and applied performance of the hydrogel has always been a challenging and significant problem. Herein, we report an environmentally tolerant, stretchable, adhesive, self-healing conductive gel through multiple dynamic interactions in the water/glycerol/ionic liquids medium, which can be used as a high-performance strain and temperature sensor. The random copolymer poly(acrylic acid-co-acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate) interacts with the branched poly(ethylene imine) (PEI) and Zr4+ ions via the dynamic covalent enamine bonds, coordinations, and electrostatic interactions to improve stretchable (1300%), compressible, fatigue-resistant (1000 cycles at 50% strain), and self-healing performance (95%, 24 h). The combination of water/glycerol/ionic liquids imparts the resulting gel with excellent electrical conductivity, anti-drying, and anti-freezing performance. By means of the above excellent performance, the gel could be used as the flexible strain or pressure sensor with high sensitivity and stability for the detection of the movement, expression, handwriting, pronouncing, and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals in various models. Meanwhile, the resulting gel can be assembled as the temperature sensor to trace the change of temperature accurately and steadily, which has a wide operating window (0 to 100 °C), an ultralow detection limit (0.2 °C), and high sensitivity (2.1% °C-1). It is believed that the strategy for the multifunction and high-performance gel will blaze a new trail for the smart device in health management, temperature detection, and information transmission under various environmental conditions.

Abstract
Polyaniline (PANi) hydrogels often exhibit highly mechanical and electrochemical properties, which have received extensive attention in the fields of batteries, supercapacitors, and sensors. However, the shortcomings such as hydrophobicity and easy aggregation of PANi frequently result in deterioration of mechanical and electrochemical performance of PANi hydrogels. Here, a bifunctional natural product, glycyrrhizic acid (GL), is utilized to prepare the homogeneous conductive PANi hydrogel, because GL not only can assemble into supramolecular hydrogel as the biocompatible matrix but also can salinize aniline monomers to facilitate the polymerization in situ to form uniformly dispersed PANi within GL matrix. Accordingly, the resulting GL/PANi hydrogel shows the Tyndall effect caused by the nanoclusters entangled by nanofibers and exhibits an improved storage modulus G' (3.2 kPa) and loss modulus G″ (0.9 kPa), as well as the expected conductivity (0.17 S·m-1). In addition, the GL/PANi hydrogel is further reinforced by blending poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) for the required strength and stretchability as a flexible strain sensor. The results reveal that the obtained PVA/GL/PANi hydrogel has a fracture stress of 693 kPa at an elongation of 329%, with a fracture toughness of 82 MJ·m-3 and Young's modulus of 47.9 kPa. Its gauge factor (GF) is measured to be 2.5 at lower strain (<130%) and up to 4.3 at larger strain (>130%). This good sensitivity and sensing stability make the PVA/GL/PANi hydrogel effectively monitor relevant human motion detections. Our work provides an innovative strategy to manufacture the homogeneous conductive PANi hydrogel for high-performance soft electronic devices.

Abstract
The construction of ultra-stretchable and smart supercapacitors with a large deformation-tolerance range and highly efficient self-healability is fully desired for next-generation wearable electronics. Herein, a sandwich-structured self-wrinkling hydrogel film (SSHF) is fabricated by freezing-constrained polymerization-driven self-wrinkling. Polypyrrole layers are first polymerized on a frozen pre-stretching hydrogel surface and subsequently self-wrinkled upon releasing the pre-strain. The SSHF with two polypyrrole electrode layers sandwiched with a hydrogel electrolytic layer is finally achieved by cutting four edges, and the all-in-one integrated structure creatively avoids the delamination between the electrodes and the electrolyte. The as-obtained SSHF can be directly used as an integrated all-in-one supercapacitor demonstrating high specific capacitance (79.5 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1), large stretchability (>500%), and reliable room temperature self-healability. The freezing-constrained polymerization-driven self-wrinkling strategy might provide a unique self-wrinkling procedure to fabricate self-healable conducting polymer-based hydrogels for ultra-stretchable smart supercapacitors.

Abstract
As an energy supplier, ATP plays an important role in various life activities, and there is an urgent need to develop an effective means of detecting ATP. However, the traditional sensors face serious nonspecific adsorption. In this work, an antifouling electrochemical biosensor based on the interpenetrating network of Y-DNA scaffold and polyaniline hydrogel was designed for ATP detection. The polyaniline hydrogel was conducive to the transport of electrons and ions, the structure of Y-DNA cross-linked by ATP aptamers in the polyaniline hydrogel achieved the effect of signal amplification. Super hydrophilic cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and zwitterion polypeptide sequence (Pep) were doped to play a synergistic antifouling effect. The hydrogel sensor we have built has a wide linear range of 0.1 pM-1 μM for ATP detection and a low detection limit of 0.025 pM (S/N = 3). For ATP detection in actual serum samples, the recovery of this sensor was 99.5%-106%, and the relative standard deviation was 0.4%-2.88%. It is proven that the sensor has good ATP detection performance, and it will provide a certain reference value for the detection of other biological small molecules.

Abstract
Realizing autonomous self-healing and high stretchability of flexible supercapacitors over a wide temperature range remains a big challenge because of simultaneous incorporation of self-healing, stretchable and temperature-tolerant elements into a device as well as unfavorable electrochemical kinetics in harsh conditions. Here, we demonstrate for the first time an autonomous self-healing and intrinsically stretchable supercapacitor that can work at all-climate environments assembled by universally self-healing and highly stretchable organohydrogel electrodes with record-high temperature-invariant conductivity of ∼965 S/cm. Benefiting from multiple hydrogen bonding and dynamic metal coordination combined with electrochemistry-favorable components and integrated device configuration, the supercapacitor exhibits outstanding long-term stability, high stretchability, instantaneous and complete capacitive self-healability, and real-time mechanical healing at harsh temperatures from -35 to 80 °C. The superiorities in stretchability, self-healability, and all-climate tolerance enable the supercapacitor presented here as the best performer among the flexible supercapacitors reported to date.

Abstract
Conductive polymer hydrogels are attractive due to their combination of high theoretical capacitance, intrinsic electrical conductivity, fast ion transport, and high flexibility for supercapacitor electrodes. However, it is challenging to integrate conductive polymer hydrogels into an all-in-one supercapacitor (A-SC) simultaneously with large stretchability and superior energy density. Here, a self-wrinkled polyaniline (PANI)-based composite hydrogel (SPCH) with an electrolytic hydrogel and a PANI composite hydrogel as the core and sheath, respectively, was prepared through a stretching/cryopolymerization/releasing strategy. The self-wrinkled PANI-based hydrogel exhibited large stretchability (∼970%) and high fatigue resistance (∼100% retention of tensile strength after 1200 cycles at a 200% strain) ascribing to the formation of the self-wrinkled surfaces and the intrinsic stretchability of hydrogels. Upon cutting off the edge connections, the SPCH could directly work as an intrinsically stretchable A-SC maintaining high energy density (70 µW h cm-2) and stable electrochemical outputs under a stretchability of 500% strain and a full-scale bending of 180°. After 1000 cycles of 100% strain stretching and releasing processes, the A-SC device could deliver highly stable outputs with high capacitance retention of 92%. This study might provide a straightforward method for fabricating self-wrinkled conductive polymer-based hydrogels for A-SCs with highly deformation-tolerant energy storage.

Abstract
The requirement of ionic conductive hydrogels with tailor-made superelasticity and high chain mobility is highly desired while meeting a challenge. Herein, ionic conductive hydrogels with the design of strong-weak response networks were synthesized via the free-radical copolymerization of monomers of 1-methyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl)imidazolium chloride and sodium 2-acrylamino-2-methylpropanesulfonate in water. The as-formed strong-weak response networks in ionic conductive hydrogels included binary interactions of strong electrostatic forces and weak hydrogen bonds. The electrostatic forces imparted excellent mechanical elasticity, and the hydrogen-bonded interactions served as highly active and reversible networks to dissipate fracture energy during the deformation. Importantly, the resultant ionic conductive hydrogels exhibited high toughness of ∼2205 kJ m-3, satisfying fatigue resistance, and excellent healing efficiency of >90%. Moreover, the tailoring of counterion concentrations in hydrogels by adding various concentrations of inorganic salts could regulate the electrostatic forces within hydrogels as well as the finally mechanical strengths. Ascribing to the combination of large stretchability and large chain mobility, the resultant ionic conductive hydrogels could directly act as a stretchable ionic conductor for the assembly of self-healable and self-adhesive capacitance-type ionic sensors which are capable of detecting large and tiny human activities. This study could offer a promising strategy for the design and manufacturing of emerging ionic conductors with high mechanical elasticity and large segment mobility.

Abstract
The development of highly elastic spongy conductors is attractive for use in piezoresistive sensors due to their low cost, easy fabrication, and wide sensing range. However, the combination of high sensitivity and broad sensing range in a single piezoresistive sensor, though highly demanded, is challenging because they are contradictory in principle. Herein, a highly elastic spongy conductor with sponge-hosting polyaniline (PANI) fluff-like array microstructures is fabricated through cryopolymerization. The as-obtained sponge-hosting conductors exhibited an excellent elasticity under high compression strain and stress of up to 80% and 101 kPa, respectively, covering typical deformation ranges for detecting complex human activities. Benefiting from the presence of the sponge-hosting fluff-like PANI arrays, the as-prepared sponge-hosting conductors for piezoresistive sensors possessed a high sensitivity of 0.54 kPa-1 in a broad pressure range of 0.1-101 kPa, ascribing to the formation of the sponge-hosting fluff arrays with graded conductive network structures of array contacts and sponge-skeleton contacts at low and high compressions, respectively. As a result, the as-assembled piezoresistive sensors were demonstrated for tactile sensing and human-motion monitoring. This work reveals new approaches for tailored fabrication of sponge-hosting conducting polymers with tunable fluff-like microstructures for highly sensitive and wide-range wearable piezoresistive sensors.

Abstract
Flexible wearable devices have achieved remarkable applications in health monitoring because of the advantages of multisignal collecting and real-time wireless transmission of information. However, the integration of bulky sensing elements and rigid metal circuit components in traditional wearable devices may lead to a mechanical and signal-conducting mismatch between wearable devices and biological tissues, thus restricting their wide applications in the human body. The excellent mechanical properties, conductivity, and high tissue resemblance of conductive hydrogel contribute to its application in flexible electronic sensors to monitor human health. In this work, a dual-network, temperature-responsive ionic conductive hydrogel with excellent stretchability, fast temperature responsiveness, and good conductivity was developed by introducing a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/ tannic acid (TA)/ Fe3+ cross-linked network into the N,N-methylene diacrylamide (MBAA) cross-linked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylamide) (P(NIPAAm-co-AM)) network. Furthermore, the introduction of the PVP/TA/Fe3+ cross-linked network endowed the hydrogel with excellent stretchability and conductivity. By adjusting the molar ratio of TA and Fe3+ to 3:5, a hydrogel with a maximal stretching ratio of 720% and sensitive strain response (GF = 3.61) was achieved, showing a promising application in wearable strain sensors to monitor both large and fine human motions. Moreover, by introducing PNIPAAm with a lower critical solution temperature (LCST), the hydrogel may be used to monitor the environmental temperature through the temperature-conductivity responsiveness, which can be applied as a wearable temperature sensor to detect fever or tissue hyperthermia in the human body.
