Abstract
Federally Qualified Health Centers are charged with providing comprehensive health care in traditionally underserved areas, underscoring their importance in caring for and promoting health equity for the large portion of historically marginalized communities in this setting. There is a significant need to ensure Federally Qualified Health Centers are equipped to appropriately address the immense behavioral health needs common among patients served. Care coordination is an evidence-based model that is increasingly utilized in Federally Qualified Health Centers to improve care equity and outcomes. Addressing and supporting behavioral health needs is a key aspect of such care coordination models. Context-specific considerations and programmatic supports, particularly those that address the needs of care coordinators and the complex patients they serve, are needed to ensure such models can appropriately meet and address the behavioral health concerns of the diverse populations served. The goal of this study was to present a mixed-methods case study that systematically applies implementation frameworks to conduct a needs and context assessment to inform the development and testing of evidence-based practice strategies and implementation support as part of a care coordination program within a partnered Federally Qualified Health Center.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study examines the relationship between parental/caregiver support and suicide risk among LGBTQ+ youth, with a focus on transgender, nonbinary, or gender questioning (TGNBQ) youth of color. METHODS Data from 28,524 LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-24 years were collected through a 2022 national online survey. Parental/caregiver support and acceptance were assessed through participants' self-reported experiences of LGBTQ+ supportive actions taken by their parents/caregivers related to their LGBTQ+ identities. Suicide risk was evaluated based on self-reported suicide consideration and attempts over the past year. RESULTS Seventy three percent of White LGBTQ+ youth reported acceptance for their sexual orientation, compared to 65% of LGBTQ+ youth of color (χ2 = 174.12, p < .001). White TGNBQ youth reported a higher rate of gender identity acceptance (55%) from parents/caregivers compared to TGNBQ youth of color (47%; χ2 = 63.83; p < .001). For LGBTQ+ youth of color, sexual orientation acceptance was associated with 33% lower odds of attempting suicide in the past year (adjusted odds ratio = 0.67, 95% confidence interval = 0.58-0.75, p < .001). Acceptance for gender identity among TGNB youth of color was linked to 36% lower odds of a past-year suicide attempt (adjusted odds ratio = 0.64, 95% confidence interval = 0.55-0.75, p < .001). DISCUSSION The study underscores the protective role of parental/caregiver acceptance against suicidal attempts, emphasizing the need for acceptance across diverse family dynamics. These findings call for culturally competent interventions and policies that enhance parental/caregiver support, recognizing the intersectional challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth.

Abstract
Clinical psychologists are increasingly urged to recognize and understand the significance of societal factors such as marginalization experiences, within themselves and among the individuals and communities they serve. At the same time, there is a dearth of research in the field to guide this pursuit, and especially so in European contexts. We conducted an online survey (N = 646) to assess the social identities of clinical psychologists (graduate and trainees) in Germany and their incorporation of societal challenges in therapy and training. Overall, our sample was demographically rather homogenous and privileged: Clinical psychologists tended to be white (91%), nonmigrant (77.6%), female (74.5%), cis-gender (93.8%), heterosexual (75.4%), able-bodied (56.0%), and grew up in families with an academic background (68%). Although the majority of participants expressed a tendency to contemplate their identity when it came to their psychotherapeutic practices and believed that discussing societal challenges in therapy was pertinent, only a small proportion (~5%) reported actively introducing related subjects during therapy sessions or taking them into account during initial case conceptualization (~8%). The majority of participants indicated a lack of coverage of related topics in standard clinical psychological curricula. Greater perceived competence in addressing these topics was linked to clinicians initiating discussions about marginalization or discrimination in therapy. We explore the implications for future training aimed at fostering equitable, effective, and diversity-sensitive therapeutic practices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to characterize and compare national estimates of mental healthcare use among White and Asian American groups to provide an update using post Affordable Care Act data. METHODS We analyzed yearly cross-sectional data from the 2013-2019 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, including White (n = 112,590) and Asian American (n = 10,210) individuals, and examined rates of mental healthcare use for Asian (overall), Asian Indian, Chinese, Filipino, and Other Asian individuals relative to White individuals. Using multivariable logistic regression models and predictive margin methods, we estimated overall Asian disparities and Asian subgroup disparities compared to White group rates in mental health care (outpatient, specialty, psychotropic medication) among adults with and without elevated risk for mental illness. Regression models were adjusted for variables related to need for treatment, demographic, and socioeconomic status variables. RESULTS Asian individuals had lower rates of mental healthcare use than White individuals. Unadjusted results and adjusted regression model predictions are consistent in identifying wide disparities in mental health care treatment across risk for mental illness, Asian subgroups, and types of treatment. CONCLUSIONS Asian Americans have significantly lower rates of mental healthcare use than White Americans, even among those with elevated risk for mental illness. There is small variation by Asian subgroups but disparities persist across subgroups and types of treatment. Our results imply interventions are needed to improve linguistically, culturally, and ethnically tailored outreach and engagement in treatment services, as well as examining treatment and its effectiveness for Asian American individuals living with psychological distress.

Abstract
Although disparities in mental health occur within racially, ethnically, and sex-diverse civilian populations, it is unclear whether these disparities persist within US military populations. Using cross-sectional data from the Millennium Cohort Study (2014-2016; n = 103,184; 70.3% male; 75.7% non-Hispanic White), a series of logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine whether racial, ethnic, and/or sex disparities were found in mental health outcomes (posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and problematic anger), hierarchically adjusting for sociodemographic, military, health-related, and social support factors. Compared with non-Hispanic White individuals, those who identified as American Indian/Alaska Native, non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic/Latino, or multiracial showed greater risk of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and problematic anger in unadjusted models. Racial and ethnic disparities in mental health were partially explained by health-related and social support factors. Women showed greater risk of depression and anxiety and lower risk of PTSD than men. Evidence of intersectionality emerged for problematic anger among Hispanic/Latino and Asian or Pacific Islander women. Overall, racial, ethnic, and sex disparities in mental health persisted among service members and veterans. Future research and interventions are recommended to reduce these disparities and improve the health and well-being of diverse service members and veterans.

Abstract
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) promotes the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research. This requires effectively meeting the mental health needs of historically minoritized communities. A diverse clinician workforce is an essential component of meeting those needs. This article will discuss AACAP's strategic plan for diversifying the workforce, this will be done with 3 main points: promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all mission area, creating a pipeline of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and monitoring DEI activities and progress on an organizational level.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The importance of tackling ongoing dental health inequities, observed both within and across countries, cannot be overstated. Alarmingly, health inequities in some areas are widening, resulting in an urgent need to act. The objective of this commentary is to explore oral health inequities through the lens of behavioral science and discuss adapting evidence based interventions for populations experiencing health inequities. METHOD/RESULTS The first section of this paper aims to describe the role of health disparities and inequities within oral health, with a specific focus on behaviours. The determinants, from upstream to downstream, and the interplay between these levels of intervention are discussed. This is followed by an overview of oral health promotion interventions, again with a focus on behaviours, which could potentially improve oral health while also taking into account oral health inequities. It is essential to translate evidence-based interventions (EBIs) to populations that have the greatest burden of disease. The second section of this paper discusses the rationale for cultural adaption of EBIs, criteria to justify EBIs and considers different cultural adaptation strategies necessary for the development and testing of effective, engaging, equitable and culturally relevant interventions. CONCLUSIONS We conclude with future directions for the development of theory-based multi-level interventions, guided by extent evidence-based interventions, and transdisciplinary approaches to science and key stakeholders such as patients, providers and payers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to characterise the prevalence and/or severity of psychological distress (namely, depression and anxiety symptoms) in siblings of people with mental illness (MI) and to examine correlates of distress in siblings of people with MI. METHOD Studies comparing distress in individuals with and without a sibling with MI were eligible. Studies reporting on correlates of distress in siblings were also eligible. A search of MEDLINE Complete, PsycINFO and Embase was conducted up until 17 March 2022. RESULTS Fifteen studies comprising 2304 siblings and 2263 comparison individuals were included. Meta-analyses indicated individuals with a sibling with MI experience significantly greater depressive symptoms (Hedges's g = 0.53, 95% CI = [0.32, 0.73], siblings n = 1962, comparison individuals n = 2248) and anxiety symptoms (Hedges's g = 0.40, 95% CI = [0.19, 0.61], siblings n = 653, comparison individuals n = 533) than those without. The sibling relationship, siblings' locus of control, interpersonal functioning and their appraisal of the impacts of MI were identified as important and potentially modifiable correlates. CONCLUSION Individuals with a sibling with MI experience greater depressive and anxiety symptoms than those without and would likely benefit from support. Future studies are required to elucidate the mechanisms underlying distress in siblings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this Clinical Update is to review the principles, structures, processes, and outcomes of community systems of care as they pertain to the delivery of behavioral health care to children and adolescents METHOD: A search of the literature on this topic from 2002 was initially conducted in 2016 and repeated in 2019 and 2021, yielding 1,604 English-language citations. These citations were supplemented by references suggested by topic experts and identified through Web searches, increasing the yield to 1,684 total citations, of which 1,184 were unduplicated. After sequential review by Update authors at title/abstract and then full-text levels, the citations were winnowed to 156 based on relevance to the topic. RESULTS The systems of care approach, arising in the 1980s, expanded child and adolescent behavioral health care from the core services of psychotherapy, medication management, inpatient psychiatric services, and residential treatment to include home- and community-based treatment and support services; promotion, prevention, and early intervention programs; and specialized services for very young children and youth and young adults of transition age. These services and supports are delivered by a large multidisciplinary workforce and are governed by key principles, including a biopsychosocial case conceptualization; family-driven, youth-guided, strengths-based, and trauma-informed care. Services in the least restrictive setting; continuity of care across transitions; a public health framework for service delivery; promotion of wellness and resilience; and elimination of health disparities. Challenges to systems of care implementation include funding availability, workforce shortages, deficiencies in cross-systems collaboration, and variability in insurance coverage. Although controlled studies have failed to provide convincing evidence of favorable outcomes from the whole systems of care approach, uncontrolled research has demonstrated increased access to care, positive clinical and functional outcomes, improved family functioning, and reductions in costs, particularly when research is focused on specific behavioral health problems, specific interventions such as Wraparound care, or highly specified groups of youth. CONCLUSION Health professionals who are educated in the systems of care approach can improve access to and quality of behavioral health care for children and adolescents with behavioral health needs.

Abstract
The current configuration and function of U.S. societal structures drives the overrepresentation of people with serious mental illness in the criminal legal system. Although the causes are multifactorial, the mental health system poorly serves those at highest risk of criminal legal system involvement. The growth of the mental health evidence base regarding the social determinants of mental health has ushered in greater understanding of their central role in the promotion and maintenance of mental illness and health. These academic strides, however, have failed to translate into widespread care and payment policy changes. Additionally, as is the case in the criminal legal system, structural racism shapes people's experiences in the mental health care system, contributing to inequitable mental health outcomes for persons with severe mental illness from racial and ethnic minority groups. This is a critical consideration for the population involved in the criminal legal system: Black and Brown people make up more than half of those incarcerated in the United States (despite comprising just 32% of the total population). In the absence of an intersectional, antiracist, structurally informed approach, any attempt by the mental health care system to stem the overrepresentation of people with serious mental illness in the criminal legal system will fail. This article provides an overview of the current mental health care system's shortcomings in serving this population. Abstract
LAY ABSTRACT Previous research has highlighted the importance of mental health treatment for autistic youth. In that research base, most studies focus on demonstrating the efficacy of a particular intervention with a sample of autistic youth. However, understanding the characteristics of samples used within these studies (i.e. demographics) is an important avenue for expanding this research to a more diverse, representative sample of autistic youth in community settings. As such, the current review examined and characterized participants included within mental health treatment research. We coded studies for various demographics among the youth sample, caregivers, and providers participants. Results indicated that while efforts have been made to increase diversity in research, very few studies including transition-aged youth, those identifying as female, and/or those identifying as non-Caucasian. Clinically, a few studies included youth with lower cognitive abilities and/or those with specific mental health problems (e.g. trauma and depression) or more than one co-occurring mental health conditions. Overall, our results highlight several critical gaps in our current evidence base regarding mental health treatment for autistic youth, including the limited clinical representativeness of both provider and child participants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This systematic review examined whether the general public are aware of the influence of modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) on dementia. METHODS Following PRISMA guidelines, five electronic databases (PubMed, Medline, CINAHL, ProQuest, and Scopus) were searched for studies published from 2009-2019, using the key terms "knowledge," "modifiable cardiovascular risk factors," and "dementia." Standardized critical appraisal instruments were used to evaluate the quality of the studies. RESULTS Of the 1,533 articles that were screened, 26 were included in this review. Modifiable CVRFs of dementia included behavioral factors (physical inactivity, poor dietary practices, high alcohol consumption, and heavy smoking) and medical conditions (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, and obesity). Although the association between CVRFs and dementia was identified (pooled prevalence is 24-50%), overall knowledge about this relationship in the general public was low. Sociodemographic variables, such as higher education, better economic status, and prior contact with a person with dementia, positively influenced dementia risk knowledge. Ethnic minorities showed good awareness of dementia risk from cardiovascular-related conditions. CONCLUSION Despite dementia is considered as a public health priority by World Health Organization, knowledge of the modifiable CVRFs and dementia is low in the general population. Public health policymakers should develop appropriate educational programs and interventions to equip the communities and vulnerable groups with this understanding so that they can be prepared to reduce dementia risk.

Abstract
Evidence-based practice in psychology (EBPP) has long focused on treatment, but evidence-based psychological assessment (EBPA) is also crucial given the important role of accurate and reliable diagnostic practices in treatment planning. In terms of the diagnosis of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), EBPA practices are well-established for children, and more recently for adults, but for college students in particular there are special considerations that warrant attention. College students with symptoms of ADHD have some challenges that are unique, and thus the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in these students is unique. The aim of this review is not to cover all EBPA strategies for diagnosing ADHD in emerging adult college students; rather, we will focus on the unique considerations at play in college ADHD assessment. These include (a) conceptual matters such as the appropriateness of the DSM-5 criteria for college students, the limitations of our understanding of ADHD this population because of a lack of diversity in research studies, and the issue of late-identified ADHD; and (b) practical matters, such as specific documentation needs, how to gather and interpret self- and other-report of symptoms, how to assess impairment, and alternate explanations for ADHD-like symptoms in college students.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To test for equivalence between providers with and without advanced degrees in multiple domains related to delivery of evidence-based treatment. DATA SOURCE Provider and client data from an effectiveness trial of Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) in a major metropolitan area in the United States. STUDY DESIGN We tested for equivalence between providers (N = 182) with and without advanced degrees in treatment-related knowledge, practices, and attitudes; job demands and stress; and training engagement and trainer-rated competence in AF-CBT. We also conducted exploratory analyses to test for equivalence in family clinical outcomes. DATA COLLECTION Providers completed measures prior to randomization and at 6-month follow-up, after completion of training and consultation in AF-CBT. Children and caregivers completed assessments at 0, 6, 12, and 18 months. PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Providers without advanced degrees were largely non-inferior to those with advanced degrees in treatment-related knowledge, practices, and attitudes, while findings for job demands and stress were mixed. Providers without advanced degrees were non-inferior to providers with advanced degrees in consultation attendance (B = -1.42; confidence interval (CI) = -3.01-0.16; margin of equivalence (Δ) = 2), number of case presentations (B = 0.64; CI = -0.49-1.76; Δ = 2), total training hours (B = -4.57; CI = -10.52-1.37; Δ = 3), and trainer-rated competence in AF-CBT (B = -0.04; CI = -3.04-2.96; Δ = 4), and they were significantly more likely to complete training (odds ratio = 0.66; CI = 0.10-0.96; Δ = 30%). Results for clinical outcomes were largely inconclusive. CONCLUSIONS Provider-level outcomes for those with and without advanced degrees were generally comparable. Additional research is needed to examine equivalence in clinical outcomes. Expanding evidence-based treatment training to individuals without advanced degrees may help to reduce workforce shortages and improve reach of evidence-based treatments.

Abstract
Population aging in the US and its increase in racial/ethnic diversity has resulted in a growing body of literature aimed at measuring health disparities among minority older adults. Disparities in health outcomes are often evaluated using self-reported measures and, to attend to linguistic diversity, these measures are increasingly being used in languages for which they were not originally developed and validated. However, observed differences in self-reported measures cannot be used to infer disparities in theoretical attributes, such as late-life depression, unless there is evidence that individuals from different groups responded similarly to the measures-a property known as measurement invariance. Using data from the Positive Minds-Strong Bodies randomized controlled trial, which delivered evidence-based mental health and disability prevention services to a racially/ethnically diverse sample of minority older adults, we applied invariance tests to two common measures of anxiety and depression (the GAD-7 and the HSCL-25) and two measures of level of functioning (the Late-Life FDI and the WHODAS 2.0) comparing four different languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese. We found that these measures were conceptualized similarly across languages. However, at the item-level symptom burden, we identified a non-negligible number of symptoms with some degree of differential item functioning. Spanish speakers reported more worry symptoms and less somatic symptoms for reasons unrelated to their psychological distress. Mandarin speakers reported more feelings of restlessness, and both Mandarin and Cantonese speakers reported no interest in things more often for reasons unrelated to their psychological distress. Mandarin and Cantonese speakers were also found to consistently report more difficulties performing physical activities for reasons unrelated to their level of functioning. In general, invariance tests have been insufficiently applied within psychological research, but they are particularly relevant as a prerequisite to accurately measure health disparities. Our results highlight the importance of conducting invariance testing, as we singled out several items that may require careful examination before considering their use to compare symptoms of psychological distress and level of functioning among ethnically and linguistically diverse older adult populations.

Abstract
Racism is an important determinant of health and health disparities, but few strategies have been successful in eliminating racial discrimination from medical practice. This article proposes a novel antiracist approach to clinical care that acknowledges the racism shaping the clinical encounter and historical arc of racial oppression embedded in health care. Although preliminary, this approach can be easily implemented into clinical care and may reduce the harm done by racism. It could also serve as a template for antiracist service provision in other sectors, such as education and law enforcement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Research has generated valuable knowledge in identifying, understanding, and intervening to address inequities in the delivery of healthcare, yet these inequities persist. The best available interventions, programs and policies designed to address inequities in healthcare are not being adopted in routine practice settings. Implementation science can help address this gap by studying the factors, processes, and strategies at multiple levels of a system of care that influence the uptake, use, and the sustainability of these programs for vulnerable populations. We propose that an equity lens can help integrate the fields of implementation science and research that focuses on inequities in healthcare delivery. MAIN TEXT Using Proctor et al.' (12) framework as a case study, we reframed five elements of implementation science to study inequities in healthcare. These elements include: 1) focus on reach from the very beginning; 2) design and select interventions for vulnerable populations and low-resource communities with implementation in mind; 3) implement what works and develop implementation strategies that can help reduce inequities in care; 4) develop the science of adaptations; and 5) use an equity lens for implementation outcomes. CONCLUSIONS The goal of this paper is to continue the dialogue on how to critically infuse an equity approach in implementation studies to proactively address healthcare inequities in historically underserved populations. Our examples provide ways to operationalize how we can blend implementation science and healthcare inequities research.

Abstract
One of the most persistent health disparities is the underutilization of mental health services by people of color. Neither evidence-based treatments (universal focus) nor culturally adapted treatments (group focus) have reduced these disparities. We propose the personal relevance of psychotherapy (PROP) model, which integrates universal, group, and individual dimensions to determine the personal relevance of interventions. A cultural example of personal relevance among people of East Asian ancestry involves "face" (i.e., one's prestige and position in society), which may moderate treatment outcomes. Pragmatic intervention approaches focused on helping individuals cope with specific external problems, compared to managing a "personal" disease, can effectively "restore" face. Thus, social problem-solving interventions may be more personally relevant to many people of East Asian ancestry than are approaches that are internally focused. In addition, we posit that social neuroscience can offer unique opportunities above and beyond self-report measures when assessing the impact of PROP and the personal relevance of interventions for diverse populations. Our preliminary evidence upon testing this hypothesis indicated that among Asian Americans, exposure to problem-solving therapy content elicited significantly greater neural activity in brain areas associated with personal relevance compared to exposure to cognitive-behavioral therapy content. Identifying personally relevant interventions has the potential to reduce mental health disparities by increasing engagement with mental health services for diverse groups. The increased client engagement produced by personally relevant interventions also has the potential to make mental health services more effective for diverse groups. Abstract
Racial/ethnic minorities in the United States are more likely than Whites to have severe and persistent mental disorders and less likely to access mental health care. This comprehensive review evaluates studies of mental health and mental health care disparities funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to provide a benchmark for the 2015 NIMH revised strategic plan. A total of 615 articles were categorized into five pathways underlying mental health care and three pathways underlying mental health disparities. Identified studies demonstrate that socioeconomic mechanisms and demographic moderators of disparities in mental health status and treatment are well described, as are treatment options that support diverse patient needs. In contrast, there is a need for studies that focus on community- and policy-level predictors of mental health care disparities, link discrimination- and trauma-induced neurobiological pathways to disparities in mental illness, assess the cost effectiveness of disparities reduction programs, and scale up culturally adapted interventions.

Abstract
Objective Racial/ethnic minorities experience disparities in depression1 and there is a paucity of evidence-based interventions to improve depression care access and outcomes. Community Partners in Care (CPIC) is a community-partnered study of depression care quality improvement (QI) in under-resourced, urban communities: Community Engagement and Planning (CEP) for multi-sector coalitions, and Resources for Services (RS) for program technical assistance.2 CEP demonstrated benefits for the overall CPIC study population; effects for Black and Latino sub-populations are unknown. Methods This sub-analysis examines outcomes for 409 Latino and 488 Black (non-Latino) adults recruited from 90 programs who completed baseline or 6-month follow-up. Regression analyses were used to estimate CEP vs RS intervention effects on primary (Mental Health Related Quality of Life [MHRQL], Patient Health Questionnaire-9 [PHQ-9]) and community-prioritized (mental wellness, physical activity, risk for homelessness) outcomes at 6-months. Results Baseline characteristics did not differ significantly by intervention in either group. In the adjusted analysis for Black adults, CEP resulted in decreased odds of poor MHRQL (OR: .62, 95% CI=.41-.94, P=.028) with a trend for reducing homelessness risk (OR: .60, .35-1.05, P=.69). For Latino adults, CEP resulted in greater probability of mental wellness (OR: 1.81, 1.05-3.13, P=.034) and a trend for increased physical activity (OR: 1.52, .93-2.49, P=.091). Conclusions Exploratory analyses of CEP for depression quality improvement suggests significant 6-month benefits in mental health outcomes for Black and Latino participants and trends for improvement in community-prioritized outcomes for both groups. Findings may inform research in multi-sector coalitions to promote equity in depression care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Racial/ethnic minorities experience disparities in depression1 and there is a paucity of evidence-based interventions to improve depression care access and outcomes. Community Partners in Care (CPIC) is a community-partnered study of depression care quality improvement (QI) in under-resourced, urban communities: Community Engagement and Planning (CEP) for multi-sector coalitions, and Resources for Services (RS) for program technical assistance.2 CEP demonstrated benefits for the overall CPIC study population; effects for Black and Latino sub-populations are unknown. METHODS This sub-analysis examines outcomes for 409 Latino and 488 Black (non-Latino) adults recruited from 90 programs who completed baseline or 6-month follow-up. Regression analyses were used to estimate CEP vs RS intervention effects on primary (Mental Health Related Quality of Life [MHRQL], Patient Health Questionnaire-9 [PHQ-9]) and community-prioritized (mental wellness, physical activity, risk for homelessness) outcomes at 6-months. RESULTS Baseline characteristics did not differ significantly by intervention in either group. In the adjusted analysis for Black adults, CEP resulted in decreased odds of poor MHRQL (OR: .62, 95% CI=.41-.94, P=.028) with a trend for reducing homelessness risk (OR: .60, .35-1.05, P=.69). For Latino adults, CEP resulted in greater probability of mental wellness (OR: 1.81, 1.05-3.13, P=.034) and a trend for increased physical activity (OR: 1.52, .93-2.49, P=.091). CONCLUSIONS Exploratory analyses of CEP for depression quality improvement suggests significant 6-month benefits in mental health outcomes for Black and Latino participants and trends for improvement in community-prioritized outcomes for both groups. Findings may inform research in multi-sector coalitions to promote equity in depression care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study examines whether there are racial/ethnic differences in perceived need for mental health care among those with a mood and/or anxiety disorder in 1990-1992 and 2001-2003 in the US. Then among those with perceived need, we examine whether racial/ethnic disparities in use of mental health care existed in both time periods. DESIGN Using data from the 1990-1992 National Comorbidity Survey (NCS) and 2001-2003 National Comorbidity Survey - Replication (NCS-R), the study analyzes whether whites differed from blacks and Latinos in rates of perceived need among those with a mood and/or anxiety disorder in 1990-1992 and 2001-2003. Then among those with a disorder and perceived need, rates of mental health care use for whites are compared to black rates and Latino rates in within the 1990-1992 cohort and then within the 2001-2003 cohort. RESULTS There were no statistical racial/ethnic differences in perceived need in both time periods. Among those with perceived need in 1990-1992, there were no statistical racial/ethnic disparities in the use of mental health care. However, in 2001-2003, disparities in mental health care use existed among those with perceived need. CONCLUSIONS The emergence of racial/ethnic disparities in use of mental health care among those with a perceived need for care in 2001-2003 suggests that personal/cultural belief along with issues concerning access and quality of mental health care may create barriers to receiving perceived needed care. More research is needed to understand why these disparities emerged among those with perceived need in the latter time period and whether these disparities continue to exist in more recent years.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In order to address the needs of the growing Latino immigrant population, this study aimed to systematically review peer-reviewed articles of intervention studies that used cognitive behavioral therapy to treat depressive symptoms among Latino immigrants in the U.S. METHODS We searched PsycINFO, PubMed, and Medline databases from January 1995 through July 2016 as part of a registered review protocol (PROSPERO) following PRISMA guidelines. Inclusion criteria were intervention studies that used cognitive behavioral techniques to treat depressive symptoms among a predominantly U.S. Latino immigrant sample -- or subsample with disaggregated results, and the use of standardized measures of depression. We used the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute quality assessment tools for systematic reviews to assess risk of bias. RESULTS We identified 11 studies that met inclusion criteria. Nine of the included studies reported a reduction of depressive symptoms. Each study used a least one cultural adaptation to deliver the intervention. Using an existing content model, cultural adaptations were categorized as (a) cognitive-informational adaptations, (b) affective-motivational adaptations, and (c) environmental adaptations. LIMITATIONS Heterogeneity of articles in terms of sample size, cultural adaptations, methodological rigor, and setting limited comparability of effectiveness across studies. CONCLUSIONS Culturally adapted CBT to address depressive symptoms among Latino immigrants appears promising but further research is needed. The most commonly used cultural adaptations included language, inclusion of migration experience, and adjusting for literacy level. Study design elements and adaptations were often responsive to geographic characteristics and available resources.

Abstract
Despite decades of research, racial and ethnic disparities in behavioral health care persist. The Affordable Care Act expanded access to behavioral health care, but many reform initiatives fail to consider research about racial/ethnic minorities. Mistaken assumptions that underlie the expansion of behavioral health care run the risk of replicating existing service disparities. Based on a review of relevant literature and numerous observational and field studies with minority populations, we identified the following three mistaken assumptions: Improvement in health care access alone will reduce disparities, current service planning addresses minority patients' preferences, and evidence-based interventions are readily available for diverse populations. We propose tailoring the provision of care to remove obstacles that minority patients face in accessing treatment, promoting innovative services that respond to patients' needs and preferences, and allowing flexibility in evidence-based practice and the expansion of the behavioral health workforce. These proposals should help meet the health care needs of a growing racial/ethnic minority population.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cognitive-behavioral group interventions have been shown to improve depressive symptoms in adult populations. This article details the feasibility and efficacy of a 6-week, culturally tailored, cognitive-behavioral intervention offered to rural, minority, low-income women at risk for antepartum depression. METHODS A total of 146 pregnant women were stratified by high risk for antepartum depression (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale [EPDS] score of 10 or higher) or by low-moderate risk (EPDS score of 4-9) and randomized to a cognitive-behavioral intervention or treatment as usual. Differences in mean change of EPDS and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI)-II scores for low-moderate and high-risk women in the cognitive-behavioral intervention and treatment as usual for the full sample were assessed from baseline (T1), posttreatment (T2), and one-month follow-up (T3), and for African American women in the subsample. RESULTS Both the cognitive-behavioral intervention and treatment-as-usual groups had significant reductions in the EPDS scores from T1 to T2 and T1 to T3. In women at high risk for depression (n = 62), there was no significant treatment effect from T1 to T2 or T3 for the EPDS. However, in low-moderate risk women, there was a significantly greater mean change in the BDI-II scores from significant decrease in the BDI-II scores from T1 to T2 (4.92 vs 0.59, P = .018) and T1 to T3 (5.67 vs 1.51, P = .04). Also, the cognitive-behavioral intervention significantly reduced EPDS scores for African American women at high risk (n = 43) from T1 to T2 (5.59 vs 2.18, P = .02) and from T1 to T3 (6.32 vs 3.14, P = .04). DISCUSSION A cognitive-behavioral intervention integrated within prenatal clinics is feasible in this sample, although attrition rates were high. Compared to treatment as usual, the cognitive-behavioral intervention reduced depressive symptoms for African American women at high risk for antepartum depression and for the full sample of women at low-moderate risk for antepartum depression. These promising findings need to be replicated in a larger controlled clinical trial that incorporates methods to maintain greater participant engagement.
